Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a HeadGum Podcast. just go ahead and prank my ass. Just do it. I have a good, I'm not sensitive at all. I've got a good sense of humor about it. I knew before I came in it would happen. So just get on with it and prank my ass. Convail the nature of some sort of prank or? Okay, and I feel it's starting already and it's part of the prank is it's not a prank
Starting point is 00:00:50 and then I didn't know there was gonna be a prank. Just prank my ass, I'm not gonna get mad. I'm in a tough spot now, because if to say that I'm. Okay, now I'm getting frustrated. He is the one getting pranked. Now I'm getting frustrated. But now it's probably you being in a tough spot. I don't have one. Okay, now I'm getting frustrated. He is the one getting pranked. Now I'm getting frustrated. But now it's probably you being in a tough spot.
Starting point is 00:01:07 I've invited you now. This man's ass is about to be pranked. Thanks for having me. I'm in a very good mood today. Thank you for coming. Yes, thanks for being here. And thanks in advance for pranking my ass. I love pranks, I get a big kick out of them.
Starting point is 00:01:23 I'm not sensitive, I have a very good sense of humor. It can be risky. Some people really don't respond well to it. And we are not in that type of scenario today. It's totally, you're free to prank to your heart's content. I actually like it. I don't mind being the butt of the joke. I have very healthy self-esteem and it's okay.
Starting point is 00:01:46 You can get me. So go ahead and. It's a relief. If you didn't, you're both like bigger than me. I've never been in this building before. We're very close. You could reach out your arm. You could really hurt my head.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Just start like doing little like little punches. Cause sometimes some people who do get pranked, like you're saying they're really sensitive your arm you could really hurt my head. Just start doing little punches. Because sometimes, some people who do get pranked, like you're saying, they're really sensitive and they just start like. Oh, some people are so thin skinned. Yeah, doing little punches. And I could see them doing these tiny pokes, you know?
Starting point is 00:02:18 But like, you know, sharp too, like right. The technique that you just demonstrated like a potential poke could be. But he didn't do that, dude didn't do that? What was dude doing, like was he like screaming? I'd be like I would scream. Yeah, right, yeah. And he's very tall as well, he's very nervous.
Starting point is 00:02:39 He has the reach. So you're conscious of this, huh? You're kind of clocking. You know a lot about people's heights. Yes. Do you know the, like, the born identity when he says, I don't know who I am, but I know that there's probably a gun
Starting point is 00:02:52 in the glove compartment of the truck in the parking lot or whatever. Yes. I'm trying to do stuff like that, of just like, you know, like, if it all goes south, who's gonna be reaching for what, who's got what in their, you know, bag or pocket. And so if you roll in here,
Starting point is 00:03:07 and it's a bunch of people who you have some size on, what are we doing differently? Are you flexing on whatever that crew is? My posture right now really sort of slumped down. I'm trying to make myself small. You're presenting as no threat whatsoever. That's the defense of it. Which actually puts myed down. Yes. I'm trying to, I'm trying to make myself like small. You're presenting as no threat whatsoever. Right. That's the defense of it.
Starting point is 00:03:27 It's my guard down. Exactly. And I now I'm vulnerable to being pranked. In case there's someone hiding over there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It could jump.
Starting point is 00:03:37 There's a curtain. Somebody jumps out. Okay. You know, I would, that would piss me off. But like, yeah, that kind of thing, something not mean like that, but something else that pranked me could happen. It would be pretty mean to put people behind like a curtain.
Starting point is 00:03:54 That's over the line for me. That's a little bit outside. That's beyond the limits of good taste. I like a good prank as much as anyone. If somebody's behind that curtain right now, you do have to tell me. Sure. I will be very upset. If somebody's behind that curtain right now, you do have to tell me. Sure. I will be very upset.
Starting point is 00:04:06 It's not for that. That's not up there for hiding or anything like that. That's for like sound. That's like, this is my job. You know, this is a place, this is a professional place of work. Place and so, using that kind of thing against me,
Starting point is 00:04:22 I think is actually super fucked. And if it's then it's like for the next ones, now we're checking. Right. And as you said, you haven't been in this building. I come in this building a lot. So now every time I see that curtain, I'm traumatized. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:40 And then it's another thing for Kevin to be like, oh, I couldn't do this because I was like, oh, what do you want me to check the curtains, right? And it's like now even more stuff is not getting done. It's putting junior to bed sort of energy. Thank you. It's absolutely putting junior to bed sort of energy. Junior needs now you to check the bed and the closet
Starting point is 00:04:59 and inside all the books. Sure. And it becomes frankly absurd. It's exhausting. You guys work so hard and then to have to, you know, wonder if someone's hiding in the couch cushions or behind a curtain or. That, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:16 And now that you're bringing it up again, it feels like maybe there is someone, so let's just out with it. And if you're trying to like make yourself look small, now I am getting sort of worried that you could be hiding in the couch cushions. That's how small you're making yourself look. You could get small enough to get between the couch cushions
Starting point is 00:05:31 or maybe inside that tripod in one of the poles and then all of a sudden. Scamper out of the pool. Hit on screws and yeah, you come pouring out. Yeah, a little guy. Yeah. Ew. No. That's okay. That would not Ah. A little guy, yeah. Ew. No.
Starting point is 00:05:45 That's okay. That wouldn't be enough. I get the willies. Yeah. It's David from Jury Duty. It's David. And so that was your idea to do that. Yeah, I've had notions like that before
Starting point is 00:05:59 of turning things around on someone. Okay. Yeah, I thought you did it to me today, all right? Sure. Just the concept you've planted in my head that someone's in the couch cushions, I didn't even bring that up. Now I'm incredibly uncomfortable on my own show.
Starting point is 00:06:14 I'm sorry. And let's think about how to respond to stuff like that just because this thing is gangbusters. It's a runaway train. Uh-huh, Buku box office. I mean, yeah. Sure. People are freaking out for it.
Starting point is 00:06:28 It is, all the heavy hitters are looking at this, like saying, how do we replicate this? This is like one of the only things to emerge. Yeah, comedy bright spot in a desolate wasteland. And, you know, and what we want them to be saying about it is Boy that David Brown has us printing some green. Yes, exactly It's like the people you mentioned the the Titanic on Gordon Green. It's like people who? When the violent when like the little violinists were playing
Starting point is 00:06:58 Yeah, a couple people like sat down and were like well, we can actually vibe with this Like this shit is actually good music as hell. And that's kind of what jury duty is. Yeah. It's different. So you said the little violinists. Yeah. Were they little? I think David would have a good read on this
Starting point is 00:07:13 because he's very aware of everyone's size. Right. Yes. In my memory, the violinists were kind of big. Kind of big, yeah. But maybe that's just the scale of the violin being a small instrument. Yeah. So what size were the violinists on the Titanic?
Starting point is 00:07:27 It's not my immediate area of expertise, but if they had been bigger. Yes it is. Oh, it is my immediate. It's the only thing that you've really shown us is that you always show how big everyone is. And let's think about how to answer that. I do want to go back to the other thing,
Starting point is 00:07:38 but let's think about how to answer questions like that as well, you know? Okay, so rolling it back. Yeah, that's something I know a thing or two about. Thank you, yeah, I know. I think if the violinists had been bigger, the ship wouldn't have capsized. They would have counterbalanced the.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Wow, and that was the poor planning, yeah. They needed a bigger violinist. Yeah, so little. Fucking little sinky guys. Yeah, yeah. Little boat- boat singing band. So it is a monster box office hit. And so, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:15 So you have to be figuring out how to just like, when you're out here like this. Yeah, like this is a big platform, this is a big opportunity obviously. You're like the number one podcast that we're recording today. Yeah. I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Taking like, taking some credit for what went down there. There's a lot of chefs on that one, right? Like it's kind of distributed in a way. There's this guy. It's a little hard to point to who is responsible for it. There's this other guy. There's her. There's two guys. Yes, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:08:52 No, I know, but there's this guy, there's this other guy, and then there's these two guys. And then there's, yes. There's her, she's there. There's her, yes. Both of them, right, are, I guess, working together, but they came to it separately. So then if I'm standing back,
Starting point is 00:09:10 it's kind of a big mush of creative voices. And I'm going, I would like to single out, identify, and celebrate a particular genius. a particular, right, genius. And it's creating, that dynamic is creating gaps for you to run through, like basically running between their legs. Right. Chaos is a ladder.
Starting point is 00:09:36 In front. Chaos is a ladder. Come on. Is that a quote? Come on, dude. Uh-huh. Chaos is a ladder. Yes.
Starting point is 00:09:43 You know what I mean? Let's start climbing because I would like, and I say this for you, of course. This is what we're working with. Sure, yeah. But it simplifies things for me. Like I genuinely don't know how to enjoy the show or even watch it because I don't know where it comes from.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Who I'm celebrating. So it just helps me. I wanna be clapping like a seal for someone. Dude, I wanna be, you know? Let's go! That's my fucking dog! Is it, is it, is it King going off? Is it a queen?
Starting point is 00:10:16 Right. Yeah. You know? Please, who's going off? Is it a king, is it a queen? Like, what is like, how do I enjoy it? And so like, you're honestly doing people a favor. I know it might seem selfish. And by the way, sometimes you have to be a little selfish
Starting point is 00:10:32 in this bit. Sure. And so saying that you've had notions of doing something like that before, is on the way there. It's in the right area. That is kind of saying like, I actually had this idea like before anyone.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Born to think. Yes, exactly, yes. And so that is taking me there a little bit, but I do think we need to be a little more explicit about it and that everyone else is lying. I've had notions of this kind of thing before could become something like, that's mine. That's mine.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Yeah. Right? You're already like, you got to- See how simple that is? How clear? Yes. Right? That's mine.
Starting point is 00:11:13 That's mine. All of you guys are already doing that a lot by being like, oh, I improvised this. Uh-huh. You know, oh, that was my, like, that was my improvise. Mm-hmm. Right? You know, and then it's like, basically I came up with it.
Starting point is 00:11:24 You're saying they came up with it and no one else did fucking shit. Like I just had to go in there and just like do it off the rip. There's writers quote unquote, but they're sort of like. But they're all pissing their damn panties. Either one because they're scared, they don't know what to do and two because they're laughing
Starting point is 00:11:40 so fucking hard at my shit, I can't stop spitting. All right, barely hold a pencil steady. No, yeah, that's, yeah. The writers are pissing their damn panties. You like that show? Well, thank you. So do the writers. Clean up on aisle writer.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Thank you, appreciate it. Thanks for saying you like the show. It was mine. Yes. But even, I don't know, thinking about truth in comedy, that even as I was getting into pranking as a youngster, I'm inspired by others, sack tapping and pantsing. Say you're still young, don't say youngster
Starting point is 00:12:18 like it happened before, that's kind of the first thing I remember hearing about you at all. Don't age myself. We're trying to shoot you out of a cannon here. This is our first thing, let's not be like, and I used to be young. Right. Because that makes me go like,
Starting point is 00:12:32 well, what took so long? Yeah. Yeah, I just, yeah, I just, it's kind of gross to me, the idea that you're not young anymore. So I don't want to throw up, I want to laugh. Right. The tininess already, like you're making yourself so tiny. I'm like, yeah, I'm like, this is like a little young kid.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Being tiny is very young coded. It's very young coded. It's extremely young coded. Very few. Yoda, I guess, are sort of like, there's some like tiny old, but in general, I agree with you. But baby Yoda's even tinier than Yoda.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like, you know, so like we get tinier and yeah. No, I don't know if I'm cut out for it. I don't understand, you know, sometimes where like, how this culture works when it's like written out. Maybe I'm only good for- Yeah, so we're explaining it to you. So just, so we're, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:16 So that's okay, we're explaining it to you now. Sorry. We know you don't understand, that's why we had you on the show. You've been fucking up, we're teaching you, you're getting help. So I don't necessarily need that's why we had you on the show. You've been fucking up, we're teaching you, you're getting help. So I don't necessarily need you to walk me through that aspect of this because it's very obvious
Starting point is 00:13:33 and it was the kind of impetus for the episode happening. So would you have an instinct to say, I don't really understand, like, I would say moving forward, shut the fuck up, don't do that, like, don't come for me in that way. You think you're a prankster, but I got some very nasty pranks up my sleeve
Starting point is 00:14:00 and you will not like how it feels to be on the receiving end of them. And the end of his sleeve as well. Stuff right there. You know? Yeah, yeah, you can look up my sleeve. What do you see? I can't quite.
Starting point is 00:14:13 I don't have my glasses on. Well, you know what? I think you're gonna get a really close look. Here, get even closer. Oh, that was a close one, I almost. Yeah, so that's. Right into the fist there. Yeah, almost.
Starting point is 00:14:27 And that is what you see. Whoa! Hollywood handbook. You know, everybody wants to have things both ways. It's not always possible. Of course, people are aware our producer, who we love, Chef Kevin has just recently gotten married. He loves being married.
Starting point is 00:14:43 He loves having a wife, but he wishes he was still on the apps. Yeah. He met so many different people. And it's not about sex. It's not what you think. It's not about, that would be part of it, of course, but it's more, why can't he just have the app open
Starting point is 00:14:58 just so he can see who's around and you know. And seeing what he could, you know, like, is it cheating to find out what you actually could? These are the questions Kevin's been asking us, you know, and I don't have a great answer, but guys just tend to think about, you know, looking sharp as starchy Oxfords or stiff chinos rather than effortless comfort.
Starting point is 00:15:23 It's like saying. But we can have it both ways. It's like saying, so get this. Go ahead, go ahead. You buy a bunch of, I just got a lot of Mack Weldon stuff. Okay. I love it all.
Starting point is 00:15:33 It's great. It's comfortable, it looks good, I'm happy in it. I got the ACE shirt, or no, the silver crew neck t-shirt. That's the one I got. Fits great. I got the silver, I got some of the polo shirts. Shows off some of my curves.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Yeah, my body, you can see every nook and cranny of my body when I put on these polo shirts. I got them really tight. And then someone says like, now that you've bought the clothes, you can't go back on the website. Oh, you're not allowed to look at the website at all to see what else you could buy.
Starting point is 00:16:10 And see what just fits in your cart. That's betraying the clothes that you're wearing right now. It doesn't really make sense. So you should be able to have it both ways. Mack Weldon wants you to have it both ways. They want Kevin to have whatever he needs to be happy. And you know, from their light as air underwear to innovative anti-odor tees and versatile
Starting point is 00:16:29 yet comfortable pants, Mack Weldon has a full range of clothes that never go out of style. And if you match and they try to talk to you, then of course you'd be like, excuse me, do not talk to me. I know. I'm sitting here with my wife right now.
Starting point is 00:16:44 No, somebody tries to, yeah. I'm telling her what's happening. On Mack Weldon, if a shirt was really getting into my cart without me engaging, I would be like, this is out of line, I'm wearing a shirt. That would never happen. Get timeless looks with modern comfort from Mack Weldon. Go to mackweldon.com and get 20% off your first order
Starting point is 00:17:07 with promo code the boys. That's M-A-C-K-W-E-L-D-O-N.com promo code the boys. Hey, did you guys know nearly 75% of people have subscriptions they've forgotten about? Before I started using Rocket Money, I thought I had about maybe three, four subscriptions. I couldn't believe it when they showed me I was paying for five million subscriptions every month
Starting point is 00:17:31 between streaming services, fitness apps, delivery services, just never ending. I had a subscription. I had subscribed with the police for a permit to smoke trees. This was many years ago. I mean, like I barely used it. I haven't smoked trees in like, in many, many years.
Starting point is 00:17:57 And they make it so hard to cancel. You have to go to the police station. They're like, you sure? Sure would be nice to like smoke down a big ass tree right now. And like, they, like, they just make it seem more appealing than it actually is. Thanks to rocket money. I'm no longer wasting money on that subscription. And yeah, they went down to the police station for me.
Starting point is 00:18:19 They talked to the chief, like they make it so easy. They find the cancel your unwanted subscriptions. They monitor your spending, help you lower your bill so that you can grow your savings. You have full control over your subscriptions, a clear view of your expenses. They're all in one place. Over 5 million users. They've saved a total of 500 million in canceled subscriptions. Cause yeah, I mean each one did just like do the math. I had 5 million each would cost a hundred dollars.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Saving members up to $740 a year when using all of the apps features. Stop wasting money on things you don't use. Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com slash the boys. That's rocketmoney.com slash the boys. Rocketmoney.com slash the boys. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:19:00 Hollywood ham. So, whatever. Cool, I'm cool about it. And we can take a lot, like we can take a few, like. So, whatever. Cool, I'm cool about it. And we can take a lot, like we can take a few, like. We can take. More cuts at it. Like whatever. We can take so many swings, like. Cause I want it to feel natural too,
Starting point is 00:19:14 like there's no benefit if you can't pull it off, which it's starting to feel, are you feeling like you can't get away with, get away with what we're saying? And maybe there's a sneakier sort of more... I forgot, like most of what happened before, like I have kind of forgotten, and so like I'm happy to do it again,
Starting point is 00:19:38 and like see what, have you done other press around this? Like what are you like? Yeah, what happened? The show happened also like a million, Like a hundred years ago, right? The show is old as fuck now. Yeah, I did Yeah, I did one Podcast where the person was in their car. Okay, Google me that carpal karaoke
Starting point is 00:19:59 The podcast is available on Google meet. I think it might, I didn't, I never heard, they never sent, they sort of disappeared after we did it. And then that was about it. Well that happens on a lot of like computer stuff. Like them actually disappearing at the end is not like, if you're doing it on the computer, that's actually normal. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:18 And if you haven't done a lot of, I remember the first time I'm like talking to someone and like, I basically thought they like, might have just straight up died right there in front of me because like They like just fully gone like a prank. I Guess I mean like I actually don't think of being dead that way Like I'd like I actually place like, you know, you're the comedians comedian And so like I understand like to you everything is like to you, everything is just like a big joke.
Starting point is 00:20:47 Yeah, exactly, even like a really famous war. Mm, I don't actually rock with that. Yeah, there actually are sacred cows for us. I think it's valuable to kind of find the lines and create some sort of safe space for people to enjoy your comedy, and so they don't always feel like there's someone in the cushions.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Sure, yes. I did. So that was funny to you. I did wanna double back. When they got like disappeared and died maybe. I've thought of a joke. I've thought of a joke. And it's based on one thing,
Starting point is 00:21:20 and something was said a long time ago. Something from before. We can plug it in. But when he was talking about the podcast that he did that was said a long time ago. We can plug it in. But when he was talking about the podcast that he did that was in a car. Yeah. How does Chef Kevin's wife get in the mood for boudoir activities?
Starting point is 00:21:41 Huh. It's related Google meet She Google meet Google Google And this is fair game like don't worry about We were at the wedding we gave a big speech And this is fair game, don't worry about it. Is it okay to be talking about it? We were at the wedding, we gave a big speech. Exactly, and we would have done this kind of thing if we'd really been allowed to do it.
Starting point is 00:22:13 They've got a garage now, they're fair game. They can take a couple shots. They can take one in the chops, you know? Does that work if you Google just meat, pornographic images If you like you know in the joke it has to and there's like an algorithm where they respond to your preferences Yeah, like you're if you're logged in if you're chef Kevin's wife and you're logged in Uh-huh, mm-hmm that it kind of knows exactly what your knows your stuff Yeah, I'm safe searches., welcome back to this particular search.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Neat, I presume. SafeSearch has been vaporized. SafeSearch is permanently disabled. You can't even install it on our computer. So, like, you did that podcast, that fucking rocks, that kicks ass. Was that closer to when the show was actually coming out? Right, it sort of just happened, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Okay. And then. And you're still, now you're still doing a podcast. Right, kind of coasting still on this. Yeah, so what's up? Hey. Well. Hey, man. Yeah. Hey.
Starting point is 00:23:21 I got. Hi. Hey. Yeah, hey I got Hi Hey, I I got Some lighting in my apartment that I can control with my phone It's look for like again we're talking about like boudoir stuff like that That's awesome. Like I could see that. It's romance coding. I really like hitting.
Starting point is 00:23:49 But we're actually talking about doing press. Oh sure. Not that kind of press. Sure, press. Like showing up, doing the damn thing and where people are like, so that was your idea to do that? Boom, go.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Yes. And I even got some light, I even got some lighting in my apartment I can control. Okay. Yeah. So that is feeling similar to the area, right? That Hayes was just steering you away from. Just as an impartial observer,
Starting point is 00:24:23 who's kind of been checking in and out of the show, what I'm hearing is Hayes said, that's hitting, like that sounds actually pretty fucking dope. And now I'm taking that on myself, that I gave a little too much positive information, affirmation about that. I didn't know how to respond to it at all. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:24:46 Because actually, like in this context, that is not hitting. Not helpful. Yeah, it's not hitting. So I think that we wanna steer more towards business, more in the realm of David Brown's printing that green. Sure. Is it an affect thing for me in part that I'm sort of, I don't know, 10 years small?
Starting point is 00:25:11 No, that is actually working great. Okay. If not for that. I like it. I think that that is kind of giving humility and even maybe shame. Yeah. And I think that that actually could be good. Where it's like I'm embarrassed by how successful I am.
Starting point is 00:25:29 That actually I think is going to allow you to go even harder on like this whole thing was my idea. I didn't know everyone was gonna find it so fucking funny that all the writers are pissing their panties in front of me. This is just like the way my brain works. Like, I just went, God, no one's gonna watch this, but I'll prank everybody's ass for as hard as I can,
Starting point is 00:25:51 and you know, what a total waste of time this is gonna be, and then, what do you know, all the shit that I come up with becomes everybody's favorite fucking thing. And you had a crutch coming out of your whole ass. Yeah, yeah. So they put, for the show, they put crutches on it. No, don't say they did that. I took a crutch, I put a crutch on my bottom.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Oh my god. And it was all. It was mine. I wish I'd, and I tried to be humble about it, but that was all mine from home. That was mine from home. Yeah, for the show, I thought it'd be a good prank. The whole thing was my idea to begin with.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Thank you. And then to even make it further twisted for what was just going on in my mind anyway. There was this crutch that I placed on my rear end that you'd never see that. And it wasn't even for the show. Right, I was just doing that sort of thing anyway. You were just doing that cracking people up. How did you become able to do that?
Starting point is 00:26:57 And I wish I knew, I've just always been like that. I never saw anyone hit anyone in the nuts or anything. Oh, you're like a natural genius. Right, but even saying I've lived like that is like I've lived for so long. Oh, sure. Yeah, I've just started being like that because I'm so new.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Yes. Well, I like the quench because... That's kind of Kevin's thing, that voice. Oh, yeah, right. So I just think that just for the purposes of at least this episode, that's gonna be an issue. Yeah. But I like the instinct.
Starting point is 00:27:32 It's tough, it's like an audio medium, so I don't know how to do it. And we were just saying that the effect is the only thing that is working. That's working, right. So keep that. Yes. And I think that maybe it's,
Starting point is 00:27:47 this show exists counter to a lot of what's being made. And maybe part of your thing is like, you just wanted to see something out there that you would watch. You didn't even know if anyone else would like it, but you were sick of, and then you named some other like very young shows. You know, everyone, all the kids my age are watching this.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Well, I was tired of, I saw Baby Shark and other. Baby Shark, you're tired of Baby Shark. Okay. I was tired. It's not a show baby shark. Okay. I was tired of show. Oh, yeah, I Was I know how that would be a show I think this is a spot where we go right at Bluey Yeah, am I crazy? Yeah, that's right crosshairs. I don't know. Yes, then it's so scripted no scope blue. Yeah
Starting point is 00:28:44 Bluey goes cub Bluey. Yeah. Entire fucking head of that dock explodes. And so and that you did know. So you say like, and I didn't I'm just making it for myself, but and like, I didn't know if you were going to actually like it, but then kind of get to like, and I did know, like, I'm smart. And I like did figure out that like everyone was going to like it. I could feel it like, I'm smart. And I, like, did figure out that, like, everyone was gonna like it. Everyone was gonna be like, biggest shit ever.
Starting point is 00:29:05 I could feel it, like, the crew was loving my shit. Like, even dude who got pranked had to fucking damp me up at the end and be like, yo, dude, respect, got my ass. And when the host is like, like, going back to me before, when I was, like, trying to set you up, when I was like, this thing is like a runaway train, it's like, this is like a giant hit to actually like step back and be like,
Starting point is 00:29:28 like, I hear what you're saying. It's actually even bigger than that. Like, this is actually like, this is the, the, the absolute only thing that like anyone has going right now, like everything else is like fucking dirt. Yeah. Thank you for so thank you again like the old effect was I thought I was keeping it but doing like the voice to communicate like youth and why did you think that why did you think that did someone say
Starting point is 00:29:57 that no I was just turned into it you can keep you communicate youth without like I didn't know we were getting like acting stuff But can you communicate like being being young? Yeah, I think that doing like like like a voice like and like I Don't know. I don't want to like give you a read or anything But I don't have to come from like the word choice, I guess and things like that Hey, could really Yeah, I guess. Like...
Starting point is 00:30:32 The show rizzed me up. That was my idea. I don't know, now is that cap? The main guy thought that it was not cap, but it was cap in the end. And even thought that I was just sort of an Ohio sort of guy, but that it turned out that I had been capping. I'm gone for real.
Starting point is 00:31:05 So that's feeling to me like, okay, we've got a successful interview taking place. It's really working. And I think that another thing that- The show was capped. You can do, the whole show ended up being capped. Another thing you can do, and it's like, kind of powerful to say, yes, I'm a genius, yes, all these things came from me,
Starting point is 00:31:29 yes, I'm nearly perfect, but to have one kind of regret, one blemish that you're aware of, what would you do differently? So that you can kind of say, my next project, I wouldn't do this, maybe an enemy, I'm thinking like Baron Holtz's dad. Oh yes. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:52 That's like the issue where it's like, you know, it wasn't a perfect experience, like, and just go at that guy. Like just start fucking dragging his ass. You were saying how it's the sort of age is disgusting to you. Yes, yes, yes. This guy, he's supposed to be a judge. We thought we wanted someone older,
Starting point is 00:32:12 but then we had to look at this old person all the time. And it probably was like a big frustration for you. Yeah. Yuck. Yeah. This is gonna turn up, the Bluey crowd is gonna flick off their TVs. And we end, we hate that show So oh, yeah, let's go after he's got so they're watching bluey
Starting point is 00:32:33 Bluey's obliterated on screen bleeding out episode sniper rifle on your hip from 3000 yards I don't I don't know what's what the deal is with me But I know that I can find this sniper rifle in the parking lot to take and no scope blue it with up to my hip. And then after he's bleeding out on the-
Starting point is 00:32:52 The brown identity. Just something that we could say. You guys don't name the episodes in that way, but. We really don't. Yeah, we don't. Yeah. I did it like three times and was like, what am I doing?
Starting point is 00:33:10 Makes it jump out. So they watch Bluey get shot in the head and then they switch over to the other channel. If they see some gray hair, some, you know. Yeah. Wizened old crone speaking, you know. Funny as he is and his project And this is the language right there's making me go like this young guys with it
Starting point is 00:33:31 Yes, like I'm loving the run's always saying was a girl So maybe another Character free or a youthful I think going at the, we were talking about how there's like the guy and the other guy and hers being there. Talking about them in a way that like, is not overtly selling them out, this kind of thing. Respectful, yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Like, yeah, I loved a lot of their other stuff. Didn't really see them around that much, but like people would say that like, oh, they're so busy, they're off, they're looking at wardrobe or whatever. Then I talked to wardrobe and they said that they hadn't seen them there. They thought they were with us.
Starting point is 00:34:15 But that's, I guess, their production style. I think there's also something to going, oh, I mean, they're so talented. They're really special and a lot of their projects have been cool. It was funny to see people who are, you know, have so much professional experience, they're older than you.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Just kind of in this weird world that I had created and feeling, you know, even despite their success, a little lost and a little over their heads and just being like, guys, it's gonna work, calm down. Cause you know, when you have a vision for it and other people aren't seeing it, sometimes you just have to go, trust me. Yes, but what's amazing about them, no ego.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Right. Like they were able to put like, and they're the ones who were like- It was best idea wins. It was best idea wins. Supposedly in charge of this thing. And some people in that position would be like very protective of their ideas. They want to see their stuff on screen at the expense of the show. They wanted the show to be as good as it could be.
Starting point is 00:35:15 And so it was always best idea wins. The fierce competition and then the... And when the pit... Not fierce competition. Oh. What do you mean? Is this, should I say, or, yeah, some of these other, him and her and him,
Starting point is 00:35:32 Yes. They're great. They have a lot of professional experience. They've, I've loved all of their work. And so it was crazy to see them come into my world. Just the honor of having them get into this playground with me, and you know, and then I was intimidated at first. They're loving my stuff, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:35:53 It's like, I'm supposed to be the one that like loves your shit, you know? I'm just so young and fresh. Yeah, when I heard they were coming on, I was initially intimidated. I was like, oh wow, these are like some really heavy hitters, some big dogs. And I think within an hour it was like,
Starting point is 00:36:11 oh, they're just people, you know? Like they also, there's no reason for me to be afraid. Like we're all peers because like I'm doing shit that's cracking them up and they're actually trying to catch up to this kind of vibe that I'm riding, this wave. And they, but they could, they can't, because it was all, I got away with it. Yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:36:34 These ants, these bugs, I did it all. And even these, they'd worked so long. Ants or bugs, like we kind of talked, like ants and bugs are not like, ants are like kind of bugs, but like, they really are something else. Not when you hear bugs, you don't immediately picture them. Yeah, ants are kind of like their own thing.
Starting point is 00:36:57 And they're small, some bugs are bigger. So you're really like, The size they make that. When you're seeing bugs as well, you're really sizing them up. There's something of a size queen. Yes. Yeah, so I liked where that started.
Starting point is 00:37:18 It felt a little, and hey, just tell me if I'm wrong, because maybe this is good. It felt a little like, evil villain wants to take over the world. It's a sharp turn from being like gently nagging and disparaging their contributions to the show in the form of a compliment to calling them bugs. Like that to me was like an abrupt,
Starting point is 00:37:43 like we were being- It wasn't of a, like we were being kind of nice and now like, and now they have become bugs so quickly. And so like, I wonder if we can at least find the road there. Kafka-esque. Yeah, but that's a big bug. Oh yeah. Sorry. And that to me is like what I'm expecting you
Starting point is 00:38:07 to be bringing that. You know, like that bug is really big. Yeah. So are they big like that? Like you seem to be acting like they're like. That bug is too big. And I know about this sort of. And they can't be that bug.
Starting point is 00:38:20 They're small. And that's not really a bug either. That's a cockroach. That's really interesting. And yeah, it's not what you picture when you hear that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that.
Starting point is 00:38:35 I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that.
Starting point is 00:38:41 I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. No, you like that, you're smiling, you like that. If there was a bug that big, that's, yeah. Okay, I'm confused because like, something being that big is usually like kind of freaking you out.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Yeah. With people, but with bugs. Big bugs is okay, huh? Yeah. Okay, you really like that. They're so shiny. Yeah, you're really loving thinking about that. That's not the first thing I think of,
Starting point is 00:39:05 that the bug is so shiny. That's not. Cause the little ones are shiny too. I guess like a bigger one has more reflective surface. More luster from the sun. Yeah, so it is a little, it is shinier in that way. But like, yeah, you're loving that. That's so interesting.
Starting point is 00:39:19 Whoa. Hollywood handbook. Whoa. Hollywood handbook. That was a good cut at it. I think we, we maybe want, like we've,
Starting point is 00:39:32 we've, do we do, I mean, I mean, do we, I don't know where you were going, but I, we haven't done what the other cast that much.
Starting point is 00:39:39 We did, Ike, Ike Barinholtz's dad, but like, maybe there's other. That feels like a good target, but yeah, we might want to go at at, I don't know, I mean. Marsden, you had to teach Marsden.
Starting point is 00:39:51 Yeah. Oh yeah, he's used to a big film, these huge budget blockbuster movies. It's hard for him to adjust to something on my scale where it's really just about the project and there's not a lot of fat to trim. Yes, puts in there. It's a pretty lean production.
Starting point is 00:40:12 He's used to people coming in and telling him, stand here, say this line. And like here it's just like. It's just coming off of me. I mean, I did have to say, stand here and say this line, but it's like, he's used to people bringing him and he's like, double quattro macchiato, you know, on our set we just had a cup of coffee.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Yeah. What was it like for real? Yeah, what was James like? So James loved a long career, grew up watching him. No, but we're just talking, like now it's just us. And it, we're just trying, we're just being normal. We're just being normal. Right, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Are you being, like, I'm just trying to talk to you. No, same. James trying to hang out. Yeah, same. Yeah, James is whole. Doesn't feel like the same. No, this isn't the same as what we're doing. I could, I was worried to cross my legs like you guys
Starting point is 00:41:10 because it might hit the microphone. Yeah, James was, Where do you think your leg is? Yeah, like you were saying, our legs are so big and yours are like. Barely see it probably from up there. Yeah, James love his hole. That doesn't feel.
Starting point is 00:41:31 This is so hard, like. I grew up watching James, or is it, if I say I grew up, is that bad? What are we doing? Yeah, and we were, like, what is he like, did you ever see him or talk to him at all? So nice. Okay, that's actually dope.
Starting point is 00:41:49 But he's used to- I'm so glad I wanted him to be nice. That's good to hear, I didn't want him to be a problem. His kindness was goaded. Low-key goaded with the sauce. Goaded, coded. But I had to, he's used to being told where to stand. That's from the other thing.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Like this is different. This is, I really was just trying to get to know you a little more and like. Yeah. And no one told me to think. I had this, I always had this thought. Or I had this thought recently, which always and recently are the same to me for my youth.
Starting point is 00:42:22 Ultimately you did prank my ass because I did think that we were gonna be able to at some point just hang out and talk. Just break through it and like, we talk about the business, like doing press and all that. We created this issue in some ways, but I also don't know what else we could have done. But that's all there is for you is what I'm learning is like, is the professional stuff.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Is like showing up and yeah. Well, I had the lights too. Okay. But there's no, it's not like a Medora thing. What's next? I guess, let's get into what's next. I'm just finding that that's a metaphor for like, the lights in your home.
Starting point is 00:42:59 You've brought the lights into your home. And so there's nowhere, there's nowhere where you can just be someone who's not. You're always under the lights, you're always performing. I can't turn it off. That being the case, should we just get into like. I thought you said you could do it with your phone. Oh, sorry.
Starting point is 00:43:20 Should we just get into what's next and like just. Yes. I would like to kind of, obviously we can't coast off, how long have we been coasting off of this one thing? A year. Three or four years? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:32 So then let's sort of say like, all right, well you've done that, like what's your dream project, like what's your next kind of goal, like who's your dream collaborator? And then you just kind of get into that because ultimately we're representing the people who have the money that can help you
Starting point is 00:43:53 actually make some green, print some green. So what do you want to do next? In this scenario, yeah. The show was so fun to do. For me, it came out. We have to talk about a different show. We cannot fucking go. We cannot keep talking about the show.
Starting point is 00:44:10 I'm so done with the show. It was so long ago. Five years ago. And it was fine. The show was fine. Some really funny parts. Like, it's like, totally fine show. Some really funny part.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Thanks. But this much later, still, we cannot. Gotta talk about what's next. There has to be something. Sam, when I say what's next, don't say the show that you did, because that, to me, makes it seem like you only had one idea.
Starting point is 00:44:42 But we've got a lot of ideas, don't we, David? Yes. I'm really inspired by this, they're gonna have this Tyson and Jake Paul fight. People seem really excited about that. But maybe I could hit someone. You're gonna hit. You're gonna hit. You're gonna participate in the fight.
Starting point is 00:45:08 The two of them are already having, I don't know about this, this is not my thing, so you can educate me. Yeah, and this feels cool. But it sounds like it's two guys are already doing this. Two guys are fighting, I mean, there's a world where the next season of Jury Duty is just, we put a referee. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:45:29 We put a fake referee inside the ring and he keeps punching the guys when he goes to break them up. And which, well, it could work any number of ways. It could be that one of the guys in the fight is like thinks that it is no cap but it actually is cap. Sure. Could be could be the referee as well who thinks that it's no cap but actually is cap and but like the the
Starting point is 00:45:56 promoters are telling him like hey would you get in there like you really have to like stop them from fighting so you are gonna have to be like punching them yeah you know so that everyone's being everyone has their own little angle yes but i think that would be good for you i think you being the referee i think you're the referee yes there's a couple different ways to play it one is that the referee one of the fighters is in on it the other one's not and you keep stopping the one who's not going like, whoa, whoa, whoa, you can't hit him. Yes. Right. And if he- What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:46:28 And as soon as he starts trying to hit, again, like you start hitting him. What did I just say? How does that feel? You like that? Yes. You like getting hit? You wanna hit people? And the arena, it's like we're in Vegas,
Starting point is 00:46:42 it's like a full arena of people, but they're like really quiet. Oh yeah. Yeah, no, they're all in on it, and they're like super quiet. And they are all kind of having the attitude of like, what is he doing? Why does he keep trying to hit this guy?
Starting point is 00:46:56 Yes, yeah, he's being so crazy. Boo! Like that type of thing. Yes, yeah. Leave him alone. But you notice like- A lot of them are reading books. Yes. The same book. Mm them alone. But you notice like- A lot of them are reading books. Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:05 The same book. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Hey, you could pick the book. Yeah, I said the Kafka one before. There's other- I'd rather it not be that one. They're all reading the, and then a big bug comes out.
Starting point is 00:47:23 Ah! That's a giant bug comes out. Ah! That's a giant bug comes out, starts eating him. You can keep going, I just, when Kevin gets back, I'd like to end the episode. Your head turned down. When Kevin gets back, I wanna end the episode, so you can keep talking, I just like, go. Don't wear that. Don't wear. What? Don't wear that.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Don't wear that hat. Don't wear that, yeah. That's nice. It says hat pack on it, yeah, do not wear that. Yeah. Cat pack. Don't wear that one. Cat pack, they're no cat pack.
Starting point is 00:47:57 I'm gonna eat you. Yeah. Are you good to end, Kevin? Sure, bye. Are you good to end Kevin? Uh, sure. A giant bug. That was a hate gum podcast.
