Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello there guys and gals welcome to the Joe Rogan experience review I am reviewing MMA show 69 can you believe Joe has done 69 MMA shows already that's unreal I know people that have started podcasts and been doing them for years and they haven't even done 69 total podcasts and Joe must be at God like 1500 by now maybe more. It's so incredible. And they're all so long and you know, a lot of times very fascinating. Eve Edwards is someone I've been a fan of for a long time, not just as a fighter, but also his commentary now that he's doing and he's very smart, dude. So he's great to listen to and he's real fun.
Starting point is 00:00:48 He has started a new podcast, he said, which I can't wait to check out because he's very good on Rogan. I think he's excellent on Rogan, but anyway, let's get started. Alright, so fitness and fighting, some of the first things that are discussed as you would imagine, it only makes sense. I really liked that they started talking about Ninja Warrior and the reason I say I really liked it is because Ninja Warrior is a fascinating show and it takes unbelievable amounts of skill. I've had friends that have tried out for it and they've been in very, very good shape and they didn't get very far at all. And they have gyms now popping up where people can train for that stuff.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Like, purely designed to like work on the types of equipment that they have in the show Ninja Warrior. I think every year, too, they bring out some new stuff and people can't really prepare for it. So it's a little bit of, you know, you never know what you're going to get. It seems very difficult though. I think the guys that are probably best at that are like the rock climb style bodies. Really good body-to-weight ratio, strong but probably not very heavy. There's a lot of hanging on things.
Starting point is 00:02:24 I mean, I guess there is that that big wall you have to run up and that's real tough. That probably help if you're taller. But maybe that's just technique as well. I don't know. You know, and men and women as bodies are different. So when women compete in that upper body strength is a little tougher for them. So it was something even either what what it was saying. It's like there's certain techniques that are for like standing against the wall and bending over and picking things up. Like women can do it and men can't because of the way their hips and and kind of body is set up. It's a little bit different. Oh, the
Starting point is 00:03:03 video that they talked about on this podcast of a tiger chasing the guy on the bike in India, people have been watching this online, a lot of people have. I hadn't seen it before, that was fucking terrifying. How the hell that guy kept his cool and kept that camera on that tiger, I have no idea. He must have been absolutely shitting bricks. Maybe that's why the tiger didn't continue to chase him and hunt him. Maybe it wasn't the bike was going so much faster but it was just the fact that the guy had shit himself and the tiger is like, fuck that, I'm not eating that. It's gross. I don't know. But that's a crazy one. I would have dropped the phone,
Starting point is 00:03:41 probably fallen off. I would have maybe passed out. I don't know. How much does a tiger weigh? Like 600 pounds? You can't fucking deal with that shit. Absolutely no chance. That's horrendous. One area of the combat talk that they got into was, obviously, Eve Edwards is an elite fighter. Joe has had plenty
Starting point is 00:04:08 of training and it can definitely handle himself even as an older gentleman. I mean, he can still do some real damage and he's aware of what it takes to be a good fighter. But just the fact that it's like this inbuilt thing in people, especially men, that everyone kind of thinks that they can fight, especially dudes that work out, you know, if they're big, like with no training at all. And when I say no training, like very little training, somebody would be like, oh, I can fight, I can definitely fight. And then you ask them, well, when was the last time you trained fighting? And they may even say never. And then you can ask again, when was the last time you got in a fight? And it was like a decade ago.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Imagine that with anything else that you do, right? Anything at all. It's like me saying, oh, you know, I'm a really good physicist. And people were like, when was the last time you did any physics? And I'd be like, well, almost never. And I did it one time, 10 years ago.
Starting point is 00:05:09 You wouldn't believe that that person knows how to do it. And that really is the reality. People wake up very quickly when, especially that you see this with like new people that come to Jiu Jitsu. You know, it's just in their head that they probably know how to handle themselves a bit. They probably know how to fight.
Starting point is 00:05:24 And they realize they have zero chance of doing anything effective. It's just generally nothing unless they massively outweigh their opponent and they can kind of like just power into them for a bit, but very quickly anyone with even a basic level of Jiu Jitsu is going to get them in a bad position. And it just always astounds me, you see it across the board. It's almost like the human brain is designed to not believe in that level of reality. Like you cannot believe that you wouldn't know
Starting point is 00:05:54 how to defend yourself or protect yourself, though you have no experience with it. It's crazy. And their point was, and Edeb would rightly say, it's crazy and that and their point was and he that would rightly said it's like people will say that they can fight like Paulie Marjiano after his bad knuckle fight because he got beat up or another UFC fighter. No, you cannot. They would destroy you. Like all the women would just if you're a guy out there and you barely have fought ever, even if you're a big guy. The really small women in the UFC, I would put all my money on them knocking you out, probably pretty quickly in a devastating fashion. And I know it's hard to wrap your head around, but I'm telling you, they knocked me out, and I trained you just four times a week.
Starting point is 00:06:38 And I'm definitely not any kind of a tough guy, but I do training. Like I do it consistently, and I would have no chance because it's just next level. Their composure, their speed, their accuracy. You wouldn't even know what was happening. It would be my guess. You know what I mean? I guess you can always get you know a quick whack but yeah. And even look at they brought up North Sagewood. Is that his name? North Cut. Sorry Sage. Sage North Cut. I got smashed. Got smashed in his fight, fighting a real high level, I think Moitai kickboxing guy. Just way out of his league. He didn't have a chance.
Starting point is 00:07:20 He broke his orbital bone and multiple places, broke bones on his face, one punch, unbelievable, completely flatlined him. And he's an elite fighter, elite MMA fighter, and the difference between the two was night and day. So to think that someone that can't fight can just step in the madness. And then of course, cyborg, they brought up how cyborg dented that guy's skull. If you're a fight fan and you haven't seen the image of that, Google it, it shows like an x-ray of the guy's skull and it looks like a golf ball just like made a hole in his head. It's unbelievable, the damage,
Starting point is 00:07:58 the, he calls and how the hell he was able to create that much power, unbelievable. I mean those head injuries, it's a life full of danger, you know, and that's CTA across the board. It's, you know, you have to feel so bad for these guys when they take those devastating knockouts. I know they're in it for like this type of thing and they know it's a dangerous game but really just for anyone to have to go through that is It's real sad. That's why it's so nice that there's such big money out there now Eve Edwards now works for a show a fighting Show that they have these tournaments. It's like this point scoring system tournament stuff. I don't know too much about it
Starting point is 00:08:42 But you can win a million dollars is what he's saying on on the his conversation with Joe. I love that. I love the fact that you can win a million dollars. They should be at a win that much. They're putting their lives on the line. How many fights do you have? You know, really, and to just know that you can fight and then and then retire. I love it. It's so good. It's really just a fabulous thing. They talk about some of the big threats now in the UFC. What is there? There's Habib.
Starting point is 00:09:14 There's Mazvadal, there's Astran. That's going to be a huge fight. I think that Habib's next fight versus Portier is going to be good. I'm going to see if Portier can stop those takedowns. I don't know how he was a beast He's gonna squash him against the fence and I just I just can't imagine it and then The winner of that fight who is it's got to be Tony Tony Ferguson I mean he's a beast he's so scary. He destroys people. He's next level is endurance is off the chain I mean if he's a beast, he's so scary, he destroys people, he's next level, his endurance is off the chain, I mean, if anyone can give the real run for the money, assuming Portier can't
Starting point is 00:09:52 beat a bee, which he might be able to, he might find a way, but if he can't, I mean, Ferguson is the animal, and then of course the fights tonight, I'm releasing this tonight, the sixth, which is Saturday. It's John Jones. John Jones is fighting. Sadly, I think I'm gonna have to miss that fight too. I'm really frustrated. I might be able to get free, but I have some plans and, and, but, uh, always a pleasure to see Jones. I mean, what a champion. And you've got to give it to him. Greatest of all time. I mean, we'll see what he does tonight, but I think people are going into these fights now like, okay, we're not gonna win, but let's see if we can figure something out. Because what the hell do you do against John Jones? Unbelievable. Anyway guys, thank you so much
