All right, y'all, before we get into some shenanigans today, I wanted to take a quick moment to share some news with you all. We have been nominated for a Signal Award for Best Pop Culture and Variety Podcast alongside some really amazing shows. So I must admit, this caught me a bit off guard. Like even as early as this morning, the idea of shenanigans getting recognition like this wasn't something in
Starting point is 00:02:54 my realm of possibility, but such a dream come true. And this wouldn't be fathomable without my frequent co-hosts, my amazing guests, and most importantly, all of you who provide me with the opportunity each week to do something that I love doing. I mean, reality TV was never my dream. This was. I got my degree in broadcast journalism. And I have to say that at this point in my life and career, I'm just so humbled and appreciative for everyone who has allowed me to live this dream. So if you'd like to vote, you can go to vote.signalaward.com right now through October 5th and then click on the popular culture and variety category. All right. Now let's get into some shenanigans. All right. Welcome back to shenanigans.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Today's guest is hopefully bringing us some good weather today all the way from Salt Lake City. Please welcome podcaster, beauty mogul, badass mama bear, and star of Bravo's Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, the stunning Whitney Rose. How we doing? I'm so good, Sheena. Thank you for having me today. Yeah, no, I'm happy you're here. So good to see you. I've missed you. I know, right?
Starting point is 00:04:21 Was it BravoCon the last time we... Yeah, it was BravoCon. Oh, my God. And I had so much fun in the mornings, glamming with you. So fun. Are we doing that again? We must. I missed you. I know, right? Was it BravoCon the last time we? Yeah, it was BravoCon and I had so much fun in the mornings glamming with you. So fun. Are we doing that again? We must. I know. Okay. I love that we had like the same, the glam team was all down there together. That was so much fun. Even when I was so dead in the morning, I was like, but I get to go down and see my girls and it brought energy. It really did. That was one of my highlights of BravoCon. Yeah. Are you excited that it's in Vegas? Yeah, I am.
Starting point is 00:04:47 It's closer to home. It's closer to home. There's more places for people to get around to. I think it's going to be great. Yeah. See, and I love going to New York. I'm like, I go to Vegas all the time. But I think it will be a different energy.
Starting point is 00:05:00 And it'll be nice, you know, see if it works. And then if not, maybe we go back to New York next year. But I agree. New York is just that is Bravo. Yeah. And when you go there, you know, you're doing all things Bravo staying at the Gansevoort. Yeah. That is like my running into everyone. Yeah. So much fun. I was just there earlier this week. I came from New York and I saw so many Bravo liberties. It was fun. Yeah. So I will miss that aspect, but you know, maybe next year. Yeah, totally. I'm like, you know, give Vegas a try, but I do love Vegas. It's just, I live in Salt Lake city and Vegas. I did Vegas in my twenties
Starting point is 00:05:37 way too much. Yeah. So I, I'm not really a Vegas girl anymore. Yeah. And the fall is the time when I do spend a lot of time in Vegas. I also have family out there. So we have Life is Beautiful next weekend. And then I go to Rise the Lantern Festival. When is that? October 6th. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:55 So it's like back to back almost. I'm actually going to be in Vegas September 30th. See, and then that's the weekend. Justin's dragging me there. The one thing I didn't want to do for my birthday, he planned for my birthday. Oh, right. Your birthday's coming up. Yeah, it's actually the 25th, but he got a cabana to Chainsmokers, and I told him the
Starting point is 00:06:12 only thing I don't want to do is Vegas. Yeah, and that's where you're going. Yeah, but it's fine. He got me new earrings, so we're going for it. Oh, nice. I love that. Yeah, we have a friend's birthday that weekend that was supposed to be in Vegas, and then it changed to have it.
Starting point is 00:06:26 So I was like, I can't do three weekends back to back in Vegas. That is way too much. Way too much. And then BravoCon. And then turn around for BravoCon. Yeah. So a lot of Vegas coming up. Well, maybe I'll pop in and say hi.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Yeah. So I wanted to start with a little game called Rose and Thorn, but Salt Lake City Edition. Okay. Okay, so, basically, there's no rose without thorns, you know? So, Whitney, we are going to play a game of roses relating to your Real Housewives cast members, but I'm
Starting point is 00:06:58 going to give you a cast name, and I want you to give me a rose and a thorn for each of them. Okay. So, we can get sweet, maybe a little shady, but whatever you want to say. You know, we're airing right now, so I'll do my best. Okay. I know, right? And then it's like, then this comes out and then you still have the reunion.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Uh-huh. Exactly. Bravo con. All right. I know, right? Bravo con. Lisa Barlow. Lisa Barlow.
Starting point is 00:07:25 She's smart successful beautiful is her rose she's a good friend her thorn is she sometimes cannot get out
Starting point is 00:07:34 of her own way Meredith Marks Meredith Marks great mother stunning thorn she is messy and talks behind
Starting point is 00:07:44 people's backs great for reality tv perfect heather gay heather gay but she's a badass she's a an amazing
Starting point is 00:07:54 mother entrepreneur i actually look up to her as a mom like she's a brilliant marketer and she's gorgeous her thorn
Starting point is 00:08:02 she's very stubborn okay mary cosby And she's gorgeous. Her thorn, she's very stubborn. Okay. Mary Cosby. Mary Cosby. Oh, my God. Okay. She has, I love her reaction.
Starting point is 00:08:16 She has great one-liners. She has a fabulous closet slash bedroom. Her thorns are that she's mean. Those texts? Mean. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. Angie K. Angie K.
Starting point is 00:08:31 She is so much fun. She's the life of the party. She has overcome a lot. So I really respect her for all of that. She's a great mother. I've never seen, how do I say this politely, a helicopter mom that rocks it so well. She's a great wife. Her thorn is her mouth. I've never seen, how do I say this politely, a helicopter mom that rocks it so well. She's a great wife.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Her thorn is her mouth. She has a vicious mouth. Yeah, we have some of those on our show too. So when you say that as like a helicopter mom. She can have a vicious mouth. Okay. See, I feel like I'm a helicopter mom. So how do I become like a dope helicopter mom?
Starting point is 00:09:06 Well, you know, I just give her a hard time about that and I think we're all helicopter moms yeah moms love their babies right I don't know if it's come out yet no it has but like she loves her daughter so much that her daughter still sleeps in bed with her and Sean oh like that that to me is an ultimate helicopter mom. But she she's such a good mom. Everything she does is for Electra. She and I talk to each other every day. And we both at the end of the night, respect each other's time. We both tickle our kids backs. And I just laugh because the difference is I go into my kids bedrooms to tickle their backs. And then I go to mine. Yeah, she's in bed with Sean. They're all on speaker listening to our conversation and she's tickling the back. So I don't know. She's fabulous. I don't know how to be a dope helicopter mom. I think it's just love. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. It's not out of control. It's out of love. Right. That's how you be a dope helicopter mom. Yeah. I'm like, you know, first time mom here. So any advice I'll take it because. Oh, summer, summer is so lucky to have you. Thank you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:06 She's the best. Helicopter the shit out of her. I will. No, literally I'm at the park and I'm like on top of her. Let her go. And I'm like, no,
Starting point is 00:10:14 I let her go. No, see, that's just being a good mom. Yeah. Helicopter mom is like when you want to control your kid's life, you you're living through them. Oh,
Starting point is 00:10:22 dance mom. Okay. Dance backstage mom. Okay. I thought it was just like more like you're literally through them oh okay dance mom okay dance backstage mom okay i thought it was just like more like you're literally a helicopter over them like all of the time just like making sure because i feel like but she's two you know so and i like just 11 yeah that's different yeah okay good to know because at 13 my daughter's 13 now trust me they will tell you to stop helicoptering what and that's the hardest moment as a mom. Right. When you have to take a step back.
Starting point is 00:10:47 How has that age been for you with a daughter? Sheena, it is hard. It's really hard. It's amazing. Like, on one hand, it's amazing because I have this little dope best friend. My favorite meme is the best thing about having a daughter is that she, it's like having a little broke best friend. They just think you're the coolest. It's really cool to watch her just want to be like me,
Starting point is 00:11:10 wear all my clothes, come and take my makeup. But the emotional side of it is hard. You know, at different ages, you have different struggles. Infants, you're not sleeping, you're worried, are they breathing, are they eating enough? Two, it's keep them safe, keep them out of the road, keep them alive. But at 13, it's emotions, it's boys, it's school, it's girls, it's all the things. And it's a lot. Yeah. I just remember being that age myself and some of the worst years of my life, like that junior high age. So I'm like, God.
Starting point is 00:11:41 So she's in eighth grade now seventh grade was brutal yeah eighth grade we're off to a better start but I guess what's the hardest part is everything I said she would hold on to my every word and I was her her bible if you will and now she's starting to be like hmm I don't know maybe I know better yeah see mine already does that and she's only two oh good luck yeah no literally she's so opinionated and it's adorable but she'll be like no no no mom not right now one one more minute like no I don't want this or I do want this and I'm just like you're two you what I think that's how you want your girl though yeah but it's just already in this world it's yeah she wants me or she wants her dad it's
Starting point is 00:12:23 rare she wants both of us at the same time. She just knows what she wants. And I'm like, good for you. But also like always want me, please. She will. Yeah. Okay. Last rose and thorn, Monica Garcia. Monica's rose is she's witty. And I really appreciate how she says, she comes into the room and says things that people are thinking, but none of us would say because the dynamics are different for her. Her thorn is definitely her mouth. She can be very mean. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:59 I feel like there's one more housewife I might be forgetting, but out of sight, out of mind? No, we're good. We're good. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. The other one's gone. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:10 We're good. Okay. So on that. She's away. On that topic though, this could be completely made up. I saw something on Instagram the other day about like a potential spinoff that was like real housewives of FPC Brian. FPC Brian?
Starting point is 00:13:27 Yeah. Oh my God, with Jen and Elizabeth Holmes? Yeah, uh-huh. Is that a joke? It better be a joke. I mean, if it was real, would you watch it? No. I mean, I would ask my friends to watch it and tell me about it.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I'd have to think about that one. Would you watch it? tell me about it. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I'd have to think about that one. Would you watch it? I don't know. I haven't watched the Elizabeth Holmes movie yet, but that whole thing was very interesting. I met the guy when I was actually in Utah. I was at Sundance and the guy that she was dating at the time was there with all of the cameo team and He was like telling us about his fiance Elizabeth Holmes and we were like wait like
Starting point is 00:14:11 Elizabeth Holmes, that's wild. Yeah, so I I don't understand what her real I need to dive into it more But I know she defrauded a lot of crazy like big-time and yeah I had no idea who she was until I met this guy and then my best friend at the time was like, oh my God. And then I kind of like did a deep dive into it and then I know there was like the movie
Starting point is 00:14:33 and all of that. Yeah, I want to watch the movie, but I know she did something around like testing blood and it was just, it was a huge scandal. So crazy. Okay, we have a ton of questions that came in for you. But before we do, we're just going to take a quick little break. It's golf. It crazy. Okay. We have a ton of questions that came in for you, but before we do, we're just going to take a quick little break. It's golf. It's not golf. It's Topgolf. So let
Starting point is 00:14:52 me tell you, if you don't know what Topgolf is, it is fun for the entire fam. Yes, kids are welcome. The food is good. The drinks are good. Everything about Topgolf is top notch. I started going to Topgolf when I lived in Las Vegas and it became a regular staple in my activities just off the strip. Now there's one in El Segundo, right like 15 minutes from my house. And let me tell you, I was so excited to find out that there is one closer than Las Vegas because Topgolf is one of mine and Brock's favorite things to do. Whether we take summer, we go with our friends, he has a guy's night out. There are so many things under one roof. They have golf, clubs, balls, tees, turf, a ball picker upper cart thing. I mean, they've got a whole bunch of stuff too that's not golf like loud music, tees, turf, a ball picker upper cart thing. I mean, they've got a whole bunch of stuff
Starting point is 00:15:45 too that's not golf, like loud music, giant targets, all on their giant fairway, giant TVs, and like I said, amazing handcrafted food and an awesome beverage menu. So if you don't golf, it doesn't matter. Yes, I know golf can be kind of hard, but no one is not good at Topgolf. Everyone can play even if you've never swung a club before. Plus, on Tuesdays, you get the gameplay for half as much. We're all about play, but even we have some rules. Half price Tuesday applies to gameplay only, isn't offered at every venue, and can't be doubled up with other offers or discounts. It's already half price after all. So visit topgolf.com slash good as gold to book a bay and come play around. All right. So I got so many questions for you that we kind of had to
Starting point is 00:16:39 sort them and put them in categories. So the first category we have are just like Bravo fun questions. Then we're going to get into some more show stuff, family business and all of that. But if you could be on any other Bravo franchise for one day, what would it be? Oh, that's a hard one. I used to always say Vanderpump, but you have a lot going on right now.
Starting point is 00:17:02 So I'm sorry, Sheena. Come join us. I'm not coming to join you. You'd be a great addition. But that used to be my choicepump, but you have a lot going on right now. So I'm sorry, Sheena. Come join us. I'm not coming to join you. You'd be a great addition. But that used to be my choice because I love you all. Yeah. I would say I would do like a below deck. Oh, that would be fun.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Yeah. But I'd want Captain Lee to be my captain. Yeah. What is your favorite Housewives franchise or which was it before you were on the show? And both of these questions, I want to shout out Paige M. Reck. Oh, thanks, Paige M. Reck. Oh, that's so hard. I love the OG Atlanta and OG New York. Those are my two favorite and Jersey. I love Jersey. Have you watched the new reboot of New York? I have. What do you think of it? I've been really enjoying it. I think that it's been a really great fresh start for them.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Yeah. I love Jenna Lyons. I always say she's so fabulous that I don't even think she realizes that she's not a house. Like what she's doing. No, totally. Like she's just being herself and cameras are happening to be there. She doesn't really get what's going on. I know she gets what's going on, but it comes off that way.
Starting point is 00:18:03 And I love it. Yeah. I love a good first season. You know, everyone's going on. I know she gets what's going on, but it comes off that way. And I love it. Yeah. I love a good first season, you know, when everyone's just themselves, because then you get season into season, you definitely start to get in your head more. You start to kind of, and it's one of my worst qualities, but I'll self-produce and edit myself and be like, but if I say this this way, it might look this way. And I feel like it's so hard because you just got to get out of your head. You got to live your life. You got to just be you.
Starting point is 00:18:28 That's why people are watching. But the first seasons are so good because no one knows what the fuck they're doing. Yeah, exactly. And it's until you're so right, Sheena, but you do a great job. People have no idea what it's like to live your authentic life and not everything you say is always the right thing or the wrong thing it's not always nice it's not always roses yeah but the hardest part is living with the fans comments online i know that's what gets in your head it's not even really about no 100 but not filtering yourself is so hard yeah I know this season it I don't I don't
Starting point is 00:19:10 even know I can't say really anything but it will be very interesting with how it started and how it ended what was the number one thing you did to get through it though with I can't imagine how hard it was just I'm kind of still figuring that out because we just wrapped so literally today as soon as we're done here I'm going to Palm Springs because I haven't had a minute to totally check out yet I had a full week of just catch up and Beyonce and fun stuff but now I'm like okay I'm going back into the studio with the guys I think that's kind of been my thing my escape I'm working with a band now called The 27s. So we're working on some new music.
Starting point is 00:19:49 We're going to do a little writing camp in Palm Springs this weekend. And that's going to be my way to just. Yes, you're creating. You're letting it out that way. That's your outlet. Yeah, because I haven't done that in a while. And it's fun to get back in. I know I'm not the best singer, but I can make some good songs.
Starting point is 00:20:04 I can perform and put on a good show. I hear your songs. Everything that I do to promote Housewives, anything Bravo related. I hear your song everywhere. Your songs everywhere I go. Amazing. People love it. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:20:16 So more to come. And it's not about being the best. It's about doing what you love. Yeah. And that's the thing. You're a great performer too. Thank you. And that's, it's one thing to be a singer.
Starting point is 00:20:29 You have to be good at both. Right. And I feel like I let people get into my head for so long that I just completely stopped doing music. But then when I started working with this band, they're like, no, you have a dope voice. We just need to find the right range and wherever you're at in that and just go from there and they make me more confident yeah that's amazing yeah doing it yeah I can't wait to see what you create okay so you were saying how you were just in New York and you were just on watch it happens live last week who would be your dream non-bravo liberty guest to be on with next time Rihanna oh that's a good one absolutely yeah yeah love that she's awesome and she loves bravo she loves bravo she loves Salt Lake City yeah Oh, that's a good one. Yeah. Yeah. Love that. She's awesome.
Starting point is 00:21:06 And she loves Bravo. She loves Bravo. She loves Salt Lake City. She actually, I've DM'd with her about the show. Yeah. She loves bad weather. She's even commented on one of my posts and I pinned it. Oh my God. I will screenshot it, frame it.
Starting point is 00:21:21 I'm never taking it down. Yeah. That's amazing. Yeah, I love Rihanna. I grew up dancing and she's a big inspiration to me. I choreographed so many dances to her music. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:31 That's so cool. Yeah. I love that. Okay, we're going to manifest that. Put that out there. Okay, so season four of Salt Lake, I saw got like major ratings. I was reading something today that said it was like the highest Bravo premiere first episode on Peacock ever. Ever, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Why do you think the reason for the boost in ratings is? You know, I think the teaser did a great job. I think a lot of people last season checked out because of how dark it was. It was very heavy. There think a lot of people last season checked out because of how dark it was. It was very heavy. There was a lot going on. And I think people are really curious to see what it's going to be like without Jen Shaw. Yeah. And then the premiere itself, the opening with the phone call in Bermuda, it was just perfect. Yeah. Yeah. I was watching that last night with my girlfriend. We're like, OK, we're just going to binge the first couple episodes.
Starting point is 00:22:27 I like to let a couple build up because if you have to wait each week. It's so hard. You know? So I like to let a couple go. And so we started it last night and my husband's getting ready to go to the gym. And he sits down. And just the way it started, I was like, I just hit pause. I said, go to the gym.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Because you can tell it's already going to be good. And I know you're not going to go to the gym if you get sucked into a new reality show yeah what a good wife yeah and I yeah I just think we people were just curious to see how we did but Salt Lake brings it we don't need a criminal to be entertaining like yeah we are Salt Lake City's whack it's wild it's glamorous it's all the things no it really is like all of you ladies are so beautiful i love all of your style i love just watching now that i am a mom i have a different appreciation for the housewife franchise and that's the difference on the new reboot of new york is you know like they're not all moms they're not all married but i just i love that y'all, you know, you're you're all such good moms. And this I just want I'm sure there's
Starting point is 00:23:30 gonna be more questions on this. I'll pause. But the dynamics this season, they change so much because there's so much like repair of friendships. So I think that was the other thing. Yeah. What's gonna happen with Meredith and Lisa? What's gonna happen with Heather and I? Right. And I don't know if I can break forth while here, but the editors of our show do such a good job with those little things like the sound effects, the phone calls, the way that they put it together. It's just they deserve a freaking award. Yeah. That's what I've said about our producers and our editors.
Starting point is 00:24:01 I'm like, the editors on our show deserve a fucking Emmy. And finally, we're nominated. It's like they deserve this. Because what they can do, it's like you have hours long of a scene. And you have to figure out what's the most important things to edit it down to minutes. It's so hard to do. And I'm also like, sorry that you have to listen to my voice over and over and over again. Right?
Starting point is 00:24:25 Can you imagine just going through all that rough? No. But yeah, no, the editors on Bravo are absolutely incredible. I think the Salt Lake City editors are going to start to be noticed now because it's been like that since season one. Yeah. They're brilliant. Yeah. And just how the first episode started.
Starting point is 00:24:43 It's like you're sucked in immediately. It took me right back to Bermuda. And all those, you know how the emotion comes back? Yeah. Like, oh, shit. Here we go. We have to wait how many episodes to get there? Right.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Do you know how many? I don't know. I have no idea. They're just on for the ride. I just roll with it, Sheena. Totally. I mean. How do you feel when the season starts airing?
Starting point is 00:25:04 Like now you're four seasons in do you get anxiety do you get excited do you get like a tightness in your chest when you're watching the new episode how do you feel it changes every season it just depends on what I was going through at the time last season was tremendously difficult I it was so hard for me to watch I didn't even want to watch it but you have to to know what's going on right or you know interviews reunion all of the things but this season was the first season that I think I didn't really stress out I wasn't panicked I just like cool we'll see what happens because I had a great season yeah I feel very good about
Starting point is 00:25:44 everything that's got up until Bermuda that's a little bit of a blackout I was just like, cool, we'll see what happens. Because I had a great season. Yeah. I feel very good about everything. That's good. Up until Bermuda, that's a little bit of a blackout situation. So some of the moments, just emotionally. Yeah. It doesn't even matter if you're drinking or not. No. It's just the emotional blackout.
Starting point is 00:25:58 100%. Do you know what I'm talking about? I know exactly what you're talking about. It happens every reunion. I get home and my mom's like, how was it? And I go, I don't remember. She's like, what do you mean? I'm like, I just emotionally blacked out. It's so intense. People don't realize how intense it can be. No, it really is. And then you have to relive it and then you see the comments and then it's just like. Yeah. And I've always shared my personal story. I will share what I'm going through.
Starting point is 00:26:22 I just can't not. That's just who I am, love it or hate it and this season things are just so much easier because I've worked through a lot of my family trauma, extended family trauma so it's been great to just focus on Justin and the kids and we do love to see that, that's what makes
Starting point is 00:26:40 these shows so good is when you are open and vulnerable and you can go back as far as childhood and talk about all of those things that, you know, have shaped you and things you've blocked out and, you know, are working through. I think that's what just makes you even more relatable to so many people. Yeah, I was nervous about it, but it's actually opened up this whole world of me finding my path and my purpose in life.
Starting point is 00:27:02 I now understand why I'm here and why I'm doing this and what my life mission is. And, you know, you only see a little side of me. There's so many other layers. People, they don't see that I have two businesses, that I hustle. I have like, I have a podcast. Like I'm a badass mom. I'm a soccer mom. And I love, I wish people could roll up with me on the soccer field when I get out of the car and like I I'll just this is so cocky but I do notice the dads yeah double look sometimes the mom I love that yeah I mean there's just so many layers to me and I just you know I wish I feel like season four we see a little more outside of what we've seen in the past. Yeah. Okay. So there was a new housewife this season, Monica. I know she said she was feeling like she needed name brand stuff to keep up with y'all.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Do you think that your cast ever goes too hard with the glam and designer stuff? Or is that one of the things that just makes Salt Lake Salt Lake? No. Actually, in the beginning, I thought some people went too hard with it because it that just makes Salt Lake Salt Lake? No, actually, in the beginning, I thought some people went too hard with it because it's not really Salt Lake. Salt Lake City has a lot of money and a lot of wealth. But with the culture, the way it is, wealth is shown differently. It's shown through your house, your cars. You know, it wasn't until the last five years, really, that fashion became a thing in And so, like, the only designer store we have is one Louis Vuitton.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Okay? So fashion's just not on the radar there. Everyone shops online or goes to L.A. But I sympathize with Monica because it's hard to feel like you have to keep up with people. And that's very much the culture in Utah is keeping up with the Joneses. I hate that she felt like she had to do it, but it's part of the process. Yeah. I've leveled up over the years just as I got into it more being exposed to it.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Yeah, totally. Speaking of her, she came in kind of hot claiming that she has info on all of the cast. Does that worry you or make it challenging to let your guard down around her so the first time I heard that was watching it oh shit I mean well without I can't give it all away no like I didn't realize I didn't realize like the depth of what she meant until later on, but I'm not worried about it. For me, my side of the street is clean, so I'm good. So I have my business partner here with me today for Prism,
Starting point is 00:29:34 our jewelry company, and later on you'll see. I start to realize, because at a Prism event something big happens, and I start to see, huh, maybe I shouldn't trust this one oh yeah stay tuned uh-huh Lisa said she thinks Monica took notes from Jen Shaw would you agree with that statement absolutely interesting I mean she flat out in the first episode admits that she worked for Jen right she got all these rumors from Jen. And then five minutes later, she's like, but Jen's a known liar. So it's like, what do you believe then? Right. Mm hmm. Jury's out there. Yeah. Yeah. Love it. Crockpocket underscore wants to know
Starting point is 00:30:17 Crockpocket. I love some of these names. I'm like, I just got to shout them out. Is Heather coming at Angie Kay for valid reasons or do you think it's out of spite and jealousy? Is Heather coming at Angie Kay for valid reasons or do you think it's out of spite and jealousy? No, I think Heather really was hurt by the statements made. It's hard because when it came to the black eye and there was her not being willing to talk about it, for reasons I understand now, she kind of set herself up for speculation, right? Because she wasn't sharing any information. So I see both sides of it,
Starting point is 00:30:50 but I do see why Heather would be hurt by the speculations made, but also at the same time, you know, if you're not honest about it, then you're leaving it up to everyone to decide. So do you now know what happened to the black eye? I can't answer that. Will we find out what happened to the black eye? I can answer that will we find out what happened to the black i can't answer that damn it's the number one question from our followers i'm dying to know
Starting point is 00:31:10 can you say i did not hit her again literally i remember last year in palm springs watching that episode with lala and her mom and we're just like what the fuck happened to this bitch's eye? It's crazy. What? It was. It wasn't just a little, like, it was so gnarly. It was the whole thing. It was the eyeball.
Starting point is 00:31:32 And when she came in to the room and took off her sunglasses, I almost threw up. Yeah. Looking at her. It hurt my stomach to look at her. And it was blunt force trauma. Yeah. Gnarly.
Starting point is 00:31:48 It was gnarly. And I, you know, I was upset with how Heather handled it. But now taking a step back and talking to her a little more about it, I understand where she's coming from. That's a legal issue. Gotcha. If indeed she was hit. Uh-huh. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Okay. On that note, we're going to take a little break and we'll be right back. What else is important in your house? That is your bed and being comfortable in your bed is going to give you the best quality sleep. So there is a thing called a hot sleeper. That's Brock. There's a thing called a cold sleeper. That's me. Buffy has the best sheets for both types of sleeping. I got to tell you, Brock recently got in bed in our Marina house. I have a Buffy comforter on my Palm Springs bed, which is amazing. I've had it for years. But just recently in Marina, I upgraded our sheets to Buffy and he got in bed and was like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. Did we get new? I was like, yes. Yes, we did, Brock. We got
Starting point is 00:32:52 new sheets. The comforter that I've had for years is amazing. Dry clean only just want to point out, but the softest, best sheets we've honestly ever slept on. So we have the Breeze sheet set by Buffy. It's woven from eucalyptus, and I'm telling you, it makes it softer than cotton or linen. They are absolutely amazing. They have over 50,000 five-star reviews. Shipping is free. And the best part is if you don't love your Buffy sheets, there is a 50 night return policy on all orders with free shipping on returns and no return fees. Upgrade your bedding with a breeze sheet set by Buffy. Go to Buffy.co and use code Sheena for 25% off your first order. That's Buffy.co promo code Sheena for 25% off. This episode of Shenanigans is brought to you by Poise Ultra Thins,
Starting point is 00:33:48 something I've been talking to you about every week lately because this is something I use every week since having a baby. As much as I am in love with all things motherhood, I'm not always in love with all things postpartum. And one of those things are bladder leaks. So if we want to keep it real here on shenanigans like we do, then this is one thing we're not always talking about as women. A lot of women use period pads for their bladder leaks after having a baby. But let's be honest, I'm not always in love with all
Starting point is 00:34:22 things postpartum. And one of those things are bladder leaks. So if we want to keep it real here on Shenanigans like we do, then this is one thing we're not always talking about as women. A lot of women use period pads for their bladder leaks after having a baby. But let's be honest, period pads aren't designed for pee. Poise Ultra Thins, on the other hand, are. So when you are like me, jumping up and down, performing on stage, or you're like me, chasing your kid around the park, or if you're running on a treadmill or just, you know, running around everyday life doing errands, Poise Ultra Thins are the brand's thinnest protection that help
Starting point is 00:35:05 keep you clean, dry, and fresh. The little moments really are so important and Poise Ultra Thins are such a good way to enjoy motherhood without compromise. It takes poise. Learn more at poise.com. All right. So we left off talking about Heather, but I do still have some more questions about her. Okay. But we won't ask about the black guy anymore. Thank you. Yes, of course. But how can you say how your relationship is with her today? Yeah, Heather, I love Heather. And, you know, it's hard when you are family and you have that love, that connection of we're not just friends.
Starting point is 00:35:40 It's like a more of a, I'll use a Mormon term, eternal bond, if you will. Right. It's just different with family and, you know, family, I think you take everything out on the people closest to you. So when you go through something like Heather and I did a friendship break and fighting, it hurts worse when there's actual love there. But I am so grateful that we are both willing to trust each other and sit down and talk because I know it was very hard for me. I didn't want to I didn't I was OK with just leaving it in the past, but I'm grateful that we that we took the time and we're good. Like there's sunny skies ahead. That's good. And that's one of the great things, too, about these shows is it forces you to have those conversations where it is easier in life to just walk away and move on
Starting point is 00:36:26 and not look back. But then when you're forced to be around these people, it's like, okay, are we going to remember that love and friendship and bond and all of that that we had and try to get it back? Is it repairable? Or am I just going to see you at parties and ignore you? And just, it makes it more difficult, but it also does help repair it does and it wasn't you know not everything we don't get to see it all but the bigger picture is an apology and admitting that you did something intentionally or not goes a long ways just discussing the details of it and owner like owning it anything is repairable at that point enough well not anything and I'll be honest you know I think that Jen being gone has a big yeah a big role in it and I think sometimes
Starting point is 00:37:13 you have to remove that layer to see what I know it's more about removing the toxic layer and you don't know what you had until it was gone sometimes. Yeah, totally. Do you think that it was more miscommunication that caused the rift between you and Heather? No, it wasn't miscommunication at all. Okay. It was me calling out the fact that we had all discussed rumors about Lisa, and I was the only one willing to admit it. That's hard, too. So, yeah, it's so hard.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Yeah. You're great at what you do. I just got to say. Well, sometimes it takes a lot of tequila. I'm kidding. I do. I can't even, I can't help myself. I, if I know there was just a moment, everyone was talking about it and you see last season,
Starting point is 00:38:02 Meredith went to Jen first and she came to me and there's obviously all off season. Everyone was talking about it. And you see last season, Meredith went to Jen first, then she came to me. And obviously all offseason, everyone was talking about it. And the proof is in the pudding. Meredith kept coming for Lisa later on, right? Totally. And I just finally, with everything I was going through personally, I'm like, am I really going to sit here and hurt someone? I don't want to do that. I don't want to do that. I don't want to be a part of that.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Yeah. But I was a key player in it because they knew I'd be the one to say it. Because I can't help myself. Yeah. That's why we love you. Thank you. Will bad weather make a comeback? That comes from Miss Underscore Small Waste.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Miss Underscore Small Waste. I love your handle. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I think there's nothing better than a strong duo. Yeah. No, totally. We love to see it. So someone else back this season, Mary Cosby. Do you think she's changed at all since her return? No. Who surprised you the most this season? Surprised me the most?
Starting point is 00:39:06 Yeah. Monica. Okay. For sure, Monica. Can you say how? I don't think I can say how yet. And trust me, you don't want to know how yet. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:17 It's just better if you just... I love a good stay tuned. Yeah. It's a good stay tuned moment. Yeah. Okay. It's like a good onion. You just keep pulling back the layers. Right. We'll talk about it Yeah. Okay. It's like a good onion. You just keep pulling back the layers.
Starting point is 00:39:28 We'll talk about it later. Okay. Okay, we'll have to have you back. Yeah. Love that. Who are you closest with out of all the girls? Definitely Angie, Kasson Davis, Heather, Lisa. And I'm even, I mean, I love Meredith.
Starting point is 00:39:41 We have our struggles. But yeah. Yeah. Angie and Heather and Lisa. Yeah. So speaking of Angie, looking back on the season and just seeing it play out, do you regret bringing Angie to Palm Springs? No.
Starting point is 00:39:57 I fully stand by my choice to do that. Yeah. And in the end, it was one of those risks that you take for the higher good. Right. And sometimes when people are stuck in the drama, they can't see what the greater good is. But I don't understand. As a group of women, we're deciding to have a fresh start. You can't start by excluding someone. Right.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Yes. And it was an invite to a girl's trip at my friend's motel. It's not like she was paying for a house or an Airbnb for us to go to. It was a private event does that make sense yeah totally but in the end no I would do it over again yeah I love that I feel like it's so hard too when there is one person who's on the outs you know and if this is someone you love and care about you want to include them but then if the rest of the group doesn't want to include them and it's like well no I the group doesn't want to include them, then it's like,
Starting point is 00:40:45 well, no, I do, because I want them there. Yeah, and I would want the same for me. If I was the one on the outs, I'd want someone to extend the olive branch to me. In your life, have you experienced that, being like an outsider in a group of friends ever?
Starting point is 00:41:00 Oh, yeah. I've experienced it on the show. Right. Yeah. I've experienced it on the show. Yeah, and there was a moment in high school where I realized hmm like I have a few memories yeah it's hard yeah and I don't more than anything it's about my daughter right now where she's at being 13 I'm like I'm trying to lead by example and let her know from both sides of it if you're being left out or if you're leaving people out this there's um you know responsibility yeah no totally and she's yeah she has to go right
Starting point is 00:41:36 like hello i mean i we get it it's like we're all the show. We're all gonna be on the trip. Okay, but I was happy to be the creative one to get out of there. We actually schemed that at the dinner at that table. Like, I was like, Oh, yeah, let's do this. Yeah. I love that. How has filming the show been on your mental health? Because I mean, you've obviously been through a lot and putting it all out there is never easy. I know it can be therapeutic, cathartic at times, but how has it really been for you? Yeah, it's been all of those things, but it's also been one of the hardest things I've ever done. It's been mentally challenging, emotionally challenging. I'm just grateful that, you know, my, I use the resources at hand, you know, therapy.
Starting point is 00:42:25 I'm a very spiritual person and using my spiritual outlets, my energy healers, my therapists, my friends. Yeah, there's been moments where, especially last season, I just thought, how am I? I don't know if I can do this. Yeah. Because it's hard enough to just show up, be a decent person and a good mom. Mm-hmm. Yeah. No, it really is. Life can be hard sometimes. Yeah. Because it's hard enough to just show up, be a decent person and a good mom. Yeah. Life can be hard sometimes.
Starting point is 00:42:49 Yeah. Speaking of spirituality, where are you in your post-Mormon journey? Is it hard having that be such a big part of Salt Lake, like the show? The hard part for me is how much it's talked about because when I chose to leave over 15 years ago, I left because I didn't want anything to do with it. So to keep having it come up in conversations, I'm like, I don't want to give this any energy. And as you know, it took me over a decade
Starting point is 00:43:19 to remove my name from the church. And once I finally did, trust me, I did not want to look back. But it's been amazing because it's led me me, I did not want to look back, but it's been amazing because it's led me into what I'm doing now with Prism, which is a spiritual lifestyle wellness company. And right now we sell jewelry, but that's just the beginning. It's all about living in a life of abundance. And our mantra is when you heal yourself, you heal the world. And that's like, I had to go through all of that to be here now and understand how you can be spiritual, be God-loving, universe-loving,
Starting point is 00:43:54 whatever you believe in without the confines of a religion. Yeah, totally. But some people need a place to go and worship and that's great. Yeah, I feel like everyone's different. I can just do it wherever I am. Definitely. So is everything you're wearing prism?
Starting point is 00:44:08 Yeah. Yeah, this is our sunray necklace. I love it. So every piece is designed with an intention. So the sunray, it focuses on your solar plexus chakra, and I have a lot of work to do there, so I never take this one off. Okay. This is our chain and the 5D ring. Yeah, I have a gift for you. do there, so I never take this one off. And then this is our chain.
Starting point is 00:44:26 I'm the 5D ring. Yeah, I have a gift for you. Oh. I brought you some goodies. Thanks. Love it. But each piece, it's just not only gorgeous, but there's an intention behind it. When you wear it, you're supposed to be thinking about what you want out of life and vibing higher.
Starting point is 00:44:43 I mean, jewelry, you like jewelry? You a jewelry girl? it goes all the way back to like ancient days like women adorned themselves men adorned themselves like remember all the like head wraps and jewels totally like when you adorn your body you're giving respect to your higher self uh-huh and so not only is it gorgeous it makes you feel better too yeah see i feel like i'm a little more simple. Like I love a good pair of hoops, earrings, necklace, rings. I feel like I have old hands. No, you have perfect hands. Mine, I would look at least 20 years older. My hand or people, if they saw my hands would say I'm 20 years older. I doubt that. But I'm a working woman. Yeah. You're busy. You got businesses,
Starting point is 00:45:36 you got a family doing it all. I know you have cast members who are very LGBT friendly and, you know, vocal allies of the community. But how does that square with cast members who still claim to be religiously observant? Like Lisa, you know, you see she has her kid planning to go on a mission. So has the church become more tolerant of that or no not at all it's still part of the doctrine um there the community is not allowed to participate at the same level of everyone else um and in fact there's a massive rate of suicides and it's really sad wow um There's organizations in Utah that are just for the youth, LGBTQ plus community youth to go to. Escape from their reality or get out, find support. Because a lot, it's, yeah, it's not.
Starting point is 00:46:36 It doesn't matter what people say that it's trying to be better. It's not. It's not fundamentally better. Damn. Another reason why I left, because a lot of my best friends and family are in the community and I've watched what they've suffered through and I just, I can't stand. Yeah. Like it's just not for me.
Starting point is 00:46:54 Yeah. That's the same with Brock's family and his sister and why they left. So crazy. I lost five people within a year from my graduating class, like two years after we graduated. Oh, my God. Because that's at the time where you go on a morning mission and stuff. So it was that was really stressful for me. Yeah, I can imagine.
Starting point is 00:47:13 Yeah. We're going to take one more break and then we'll be right back. So I want to talk to you about famine career. Have you ever thought about mixing aphrodisiac herbs with THC? Because let me tell you, Via Hemp Co. is one of the leading brands in the hemp and CBD industry, and they sell an impressive range of award-winning products. It's Friday. It's not just Friday. It's Factor Friday. It's the time that I talk to you every week about what I eat. And I'm so excited. I can't remember if I said this on one of the last couple episodes, but I am excited to tell you that I have been getting juices sent to me in place of the smoothies I was originally getting because I wanted to switch it up and try something new. And oh my gosh, I literally have to fight my husband
Starting point is 00:49:37 over them. Factor not only does the meals that get delivered to your door always fresh, never frozen, but they have the smoothies you can do in the morning. They have the juices. We had like an apple, carrot, ginger. There's turmeric, pineapple, kale. I mean, there are so many in my fridge right now, and you're going to see them on my Instagram again very soon because they are so delicious. So if you're too busy this fall to cook, if you just want some fresh juices, some smoothies, then let me tell you with Factor, you know, you're always eating well. You get to skip the trip to the grocery store, the chopping, the prepping, the cleaning up all while still getting flavor and the nutritional quality you need. Y'all can head to
Starting point is 00:50:27 factormeals.com slash goodasgold50 and use code goodasgold50 to get 50% off. That's code goodasgold50 at factormeals.com slash goodasgold50 to get 50% off. So you've been very open about, you know, your healing journey. How did you maneuver overcoming these uncovered traumas? I don't think that you ever really fully overcome it. It's a, you know, healing is a lifelong process. I think that once you accept it and realize that it doesn't define you, it's not who you are. It actually has nothing to do with you. It was the person who, in my situation, the person who chose to hurt you and hurt people, hurt people. And that's kind of sad, but it is a daily effort. But the more time you get away from the acceptance and working through the trauma, it gets easier. Yeah. In moments, it's easier to bounce. It's like a muscle.
Starting point is 00:51:30 Yeah. You know, muscle memory. It happens quicker. It's yeah. And now it's not something I think about constantly unless something is triggered. Yeah. Yeah. Have you done EMDR therapy? I have. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sorry. I've done hypnotherapy. Oh, you are? You have to let me know what you think. Yeah. How did you feel that that worked for you with like the childhood traumas? It, it, um, for me, it helped remove the attachment to the physical state. So when your body, your body doesn't know the difference when the trauma is happening. If it's triggered, your physiology goes back to like a traumatic, like responsive state, right? Anxiety, fast heart rate, that kind of a thing. And so it really helps remove the trigger from that response.
Starting point is 00:52:20 Okay. Can you, and you totally don't have to answer this, but can you say what's the latest with your dad? I don't speak to him. Still? Yeah. No. Yeah. I don't know that I ever will. I think that I've just accepted the fact that the next time I see him, this sounds so dark, but the next time I see him will probably be to identify him. Wow. What would you say is the biggest misconception about you? Oh, that's a good question. I'm always triggered when people say, oh, she's just dumb. She's pretty dumb.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Like, I'm so not. I'm actually very smart and I love to learn. I'm a seeker of information and knowledge. I graduated with honors from one of the top business schools here in the United States. I have two businesses. Yeah, I think people are always surprised by how smart I am just because I'm, you know, blonde, boobs, outfit, heels, nails. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:19 Yeah. Okay. Well, I mean, yeah, you're smart. You've got a very successful business. We talked about the jewelry, but also Wild Rose Beauty. Yes. I mean, you have the perfect face for a beauty company. Obviously, you're gorgeous. But how did this company come about? Wild Rose Beauty? My dad owned hair schools and aesthetic schools. He was in the beauty industry. Okay. beauty? My dad owned hair schools and aesthetic schools. He was in the beauty industry. So I grew up in the salons. I grew up in the spas and I was just obsessed. I loved going in, getting facials
Starting point is 00:53:50 when I was a little girl and taking home the products. But I have very sensitive skin, very dry. Anything that I react to everything. And I just was, I had access to all the best products, but they didn't work for me. So I just started cocktailing in high school my own skin oils. I'd go to the health food store and put together vitamin E, jojoba oil, and just make my own little cocktails. And especially after kids. After I had Brooks, my skin was so bad. I told Justin, I'm like, I'm just going to do this. I know what works for my skin.
Starting point is 00:54:22 So I just started developing my own little oils again, and it turned into Wild Rose Beauty. I love that. I just thought if I could help myself, then I'm on to something because my skin was the most difficult to treat. Yeah. I mean, I have everything. Melasma, breakouts, dryness, you know?
Starting point is 00:54:39 Yeah. And now my skin has been clear and healthy since I've exclusively been using my line. Yeah. Yeah. I love that. And now my skin has been clear and healthy since I've exclusively been using my line. Yeah. I love that. Speaking of your husband, has the show affected your marriage? You know, when there's one person who's the primary bride winner and now here you are. But would you say that it's affected your marriage?
Starting point is 00:55:04 Yes, absolutely. I think it affects everything in your life. but not everything is affected in a bad way. It's hard. The dynamics have changed for sure, but there's so much positive too. Like it helped us, but it's also opens up the, you know, the pain points, but it puts a spotlight on the, where you shine. Yeah. And yeah, it's just always constantly changing dynamics with me because one day I want to be a go-getter the next day I want to stay in bed. So he's used to that. You know, it's, I'm just grateful to have his support because that is hard for a man who's used to a traditional marriage where the wife is staying home.
Starting point is 00:55:41 I mean, he's 18 years older than me. We're in a different generation. Right. Like we are different generations. Yeah. So already I'm teaching him a lot about what my generation is about. Right. But he's so supportive.
Starting point is 00:55:56 And yeah, it's he always has my back. I love that. He's great. He's just such a good guy. Yeah. I don't know how I got so lucky to have him as my person. Yeah. Is he going to be at BravoCon?
Starting point is 00:56:08 Yeah. Okay, amazing, because Brock loves him, so he'll definitely have to hang out. They probably have already been planning stuff that we don't even know about. Yeah, and I heard, I don't know if you want to talk about it, but I heard you're looking for a property in Salt Lake. So Brock wants to get an investment property, and so we're looking at a few different places right now and trying to see if we want to go somewhere where we're going to want to visit often if we want it just strictly for a rental investment property but yeah we're
Starting point is 00:56:38 looking at a few different places right now yeah well i hope you get one in salt lake yeah i love utah i've been to Salt Lake once. I've been to Park City a couple times, but I've loved it every time I've been. So definitely one of the places we're looking at. Let's try to do Sundance this year. Ooh, okay. Yeah, that would be so fun. We'll take you skiing.
Starting point is 00:56:58 Yeah. Do you ski or snowboard? Snowboard. Okay, perfect. But I kind of want to try skiing. Ariana tried skiing a couple years ago, and she felt like she was better at it than snowboarding. I just will go a couple years without snowboarding, and then I get so in my head. Then you have to get off the lift, and then I'm like, am I going to fall? But then I kind of just pick it right back up.
Starting point is 00:57:16 But I would be down to try skiing. Well, the best part is a prey ski. I mean, you can be a one and done one run and done and a pray ski enjoy okay the food yeah cocktail yeah I like the idea of the the sticks the pole thing yeah because that's the problem with me when I snowboard is sometimes I'll just get stuck and then I'm like you have to keep up your speed yeah I know and I'm afraid of that but okay so couple last questions about work and career. And I know you've got a busy day. How long are you in L.A. for?
Starting point is 00:57:50 I leave Sunday. Ah, nice. Well, next time I see you, we at BravoCon, but that'll be coming up soon. So what does the future look like for Wild Rose Beauty? Like, where do you see it in five to 10 years? Are there any products that you have a goal to make or what's the future for this? Yeah, I definitely will be branching out into other verticals of beauty, makeup. I have a lot of skincare products that haven't launched
Starting point is 00:58:20 yet that I'm sitting on and just waiting for the right time to launch them. So I'm going to keep innovating with my current line. But I do want to get into supplements because beauty really starts from the inside out. That's something I'm really passionate about and working on right now. But I would love to do just my basic makeup. I don't want a full line, just my go-to every day, like a good tinted moisturizer, mascara, and a lip balm or lip gloss. Love that. Yeah. Lastly, and then the body. Yeah. Eventually moving into the body. Oh, for sure. Lastly, any advice for other working moms out there? Yes. Give yourself grace. You're doing the best you can. It's hard. You know, stay when it comes to the children, just block out time to be present. I don't think it's about how often you're with them. It's about the quality time. So once or
Starting point is 00:59:11 twice a day, even if it's just 10 minutes, put everything away and focus just on your kid, because that is what they need. Your undivided attention. And it's hard. So just be gracious to yourself, like self-talk. You're doing the best you can, and your kid's going to appreciate the work that you're putting in now. And when it comes to the business side, just stay consistent because being a working mom, you often feel like you're only doing things at 50% and you're doing everything half-assed. But if you stay consistent at the key things that are working, don't stop those and accept that you're gonna have to pivot in other areas. I love that.
Starting point is 00:59:48 Thank you. That was for me. I needed to hear that. So yeah, you're doing a great job. And it's hard. It's so hard. And mom guilt is one of the most brutal feelings. And you have to know that your business will always be there.
Starting point is 01:00:04 So it's okay. You can say no. You can cancel an important meeting. You can cancel a podcast. You can cancel it because it's always going to be there. Yeah. But your child, those moments with your child, if that's what you need, then do it. Yeah. It was like so hard to leave this morning. She's like, no, mommy cuddles.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Mommy cuddles. I'm like, mommy has to go to work. I know mommy's always going to work so thank you for that yeah and she you're gonna be able to spend the whole weekend with her and have lots of cuddles and it's good for her just remember because you're a great mom and you're you're giving her the time she needs we all see it i actually wrote you a little note about it oh thank you maybe I just felt yeah yeah it's hard you're in the thick of it right now but she also needs to learn how to be independent yeah and she is she really is yeah and that's you know I mean just last night we were out to dinner and my daughter called me crying I was like can you just please come home? Because I've been gone. I was in Hawaii, New York.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Now I'm here. And it's hard. And I went into the bathroom and cried myself because you feel so bad. Yeah. But she has your heart and soul and your love. And that's more than a lot of kids have. Yeah. Well, thank you so much for being here.
Starting point is 01:01:21 This was so good. I'm glad we finally got to do this. And I can't wait for BravoCon. Yes, I'll see you in Vegas. Yes. Bet it all on red. See, I usually go black. Okay, well, we'll do black.
Starting point is 01:01:33 Okay. I do red because of roses. And I always lose. So let's try black. All right. Well, thank you so much. And thank you guys for listening. Thanks for listening to Shenanigans with Sheena Shea.
