Starting point is 00:00:00 Yes, we did. Cause we got it again. It's the final weekend. This is really the final. The kid. Come on, baby. Here's, here's how I, it's so much.
Starting point is 00:00:10 It's like SB, the Routola twins. And the boys, the boys, all the boys. The first thing I noticed is they've been, they've been rolling since they were three. And you guys don't have cauliflower ears. That's the first thing. Secondly, I swear to God, I can't believe you're not surfers because you have surfer
Starting point is 00:00:27 entered or they are surfers you are surfers like high level your high level surfers to use this in goes to reeky is like a whole lot of talking about they see my monsters so you said your time rolling and surfing there's nothing better and so and so you said and, he said, if he hadn't been into that into Jiu-Jitsu, he would have been a surfer, because in Brazil, they just would hit the waves, and then they would... It's like being about in jelly, like surfing Jiu-Jitsu.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Well, that's the high level guys I know are really good at. That's living. That's living balance. Yeah, that's living. That's the way. Imagine being an 18, being at their level. Wait, you're 18?
Starting point is 00:01:03 No, or 20. 20 now, but yeah, yeah, so imagine being at their age, but you guys been Doing this for how long you know, I'm saying like at this level before I can remember you got your black belt at 18 18 years old the other Imagine being 18 black belt and then you're surfing competing high level Jitsu. I mean, I mean, you dad got a right man. Thank you. He got it right. The clones of our pops pretty much.
Starting point is 00:01:29 It's your dad that way. We started surfing. We started like training surfing, everything at the same time, like three years old Yasin right there. Oh, dad is time. That's a lot of stuff. That's a lot of stuff.
Starting point is 00:01:40 He's a hot him, a tie. Yeah, a hot him, a tie. I just drive to be like him. He can still get barreled and overhead waves. Really? Black belt, it's substance. Many people are like, yeah, he's dead. You know, all of us want to believe our dads can beat up
Starting point is 00:01:52 your dad, your dad can beat up everybody. Yeah, he's a savage. And he'll steal, and he'll steal your mom too. Yeah, that's it. It's classic because all of our friends going up, you're like, your dad is so scary. Like, you're so intimidating We're like really like we just never see you don't see it. You don't see it in your pots to all of our friends like
Starting point is 00:02:10 And you're your dad's into a young age was like I didn't have to push you guys in jitsu But if you see dad doing that your hero you guys just organically did it and then he's like damn maybe we got something here exactly I mean, it was for training. It was all this messing with us. You know just throwing us around you know, so before we were potty trained I mean we were like in diapers and he would just mess it around with us all the time Rest over with us and stuff that's what we literally that was the only thing holding us back at the time from from actually doing I just do class was really that we weren't potty trained Yeah, when did you when the potty trained us and boom alright? We're in the past like they can do it they just shit their Exactly
Starting point is 00:02:46 Did you ever feel like was there ever a moment Where you were like oh this is I'm really good at this or was it always just What you did so it just kind of it would happen organically? It was a super organic. Yeah, so organic. This is what you did second nature It was until like really until we started landing our first couple sponsors and we first started making our first bits of money and we started feeling like pressure when we started competing.
Starting point is 00:03:11 What age was that? What age was that when you first started 12, right? Yeah. Give or take. We got sponsored by Ruka, like 11, I think we were, right? Yeah, yeah, like 11 or 12. Imagine Ruka's massive. The big building company.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Especially that longer, like massive. Heck, 11. So would you go to school? I'm like, what are we doing? At that point, that was pretty much when we started homeschooling from that then on. So I was like, I think fourth or fifth grade, we started, fourth grade on with, we started homeschooling.
Starting point is 00:03:38 And your pops, like, off stage doesn't plan this stuff, but if you're gonna, you ran with it. Yeah, that's what we're gonna do. You're gonna train. Plata's always pretty clear. At that point, we were pretty much always in the adult classes already, you know, so that was mostly in the morning, the training.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Would you dad a teacher of Jiu-Jitsu, or just a practitioner? He did teach, he did teach, but he's both. Mostly a practitioner, but wherever we were training, he'd also, if they needed help, you know, up until we were 12, he taught us pretty much everything. Really, yeah. So now that you guys are competing like this,
Starting point is 00:04:06 do you feel you have to constantly evolve and look at what other people are doing? Do you feel like you have to know what the restlers are doing? How does that work? That's this part of staying at the top. You know, you'll always be evolving, making sure that nobody's on to some new stuff that you haven't figured out yet.
Starting point is 00:04:24 There's always some stuff you got that you haven't quite figured out and there's so many moving parts. So it's just making sure you're at the top of as much as you can be. A lot of it is the guys chasing you guys though too. A lot of it's that. That's what I've been noticing a lot. Trying to keep up with them.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Yeah, now you're starting to see a lot of the same techniques that we were kind of known for using. I've seen a lot of the guys starting to replicate it. of the same techniques that we were kind of known for using I see a lot of the guys starting to kind of replicate it It's kind of using some of the same strategies and things like that and interesting to see what mom say when dad was like Here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna homeschool these little bastards, and then we're just gonna train on stuff My mom was more than a should make money Very snarly she was so fun was she an athlete as well or just, she just, yeah, she grew up doing snorkeling.
Starting point is 00:05:07 And her prime, she had a bit of a neck injury, it kind of like kept her out of, she started training a little bit. She paddled canoe a lot growing up, so she did like a random thing. She lived in Maui for like eight years. We were born actually. Yeah, she born a Hawaii right there, exactly.
Starting point is 00:05:20 And is that where you started first, first started surfing? No, we moved from there when we were very young, like a year old or something like that Yeah, I don't remember my time there, but uh, so we were raised in Huntington Beach, California I think it's interesting too because in jiu jitsu, especially when I was coming up It was almost like a baseball vibe where you don't want to shine with your personality and now with social media and the direction Jitsu is going like what Eddie's done with ebi, you know, there's so many different avenues
Starting point is 00:05:45 Now you make big-time money being a Jitsu practitioner. It's like these personalities are coming out man And it's gaining more fans and more fans. It's that's it. I mean you guys are one of the reasons, you know You know it's like you guys you guys dude you guys is personality I mean if you want to make it in Hollywood probably can very easily make it. Like, you just have to be bad at it. But stand up, dude. We had one Metro PCS, come over here. Yeah, that was so good.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Two for one. Two for one. Two for one. I love you. It's really funny man. Like, it twins off Big Daddy. No, but, but it's,
Starting point is 00:06:24 it's rare. In Jiu-Jitsu now, all these percentage coming out and the ones that are coming out, there's have to be the very best in the world, tip of the spear and then the best personalities. It's great to see like you had Gordon Ryan, Craig Jones, who talked about you boys, there's like so many bad asses man. The sport just slurs. Great for the sport. And then one championship comes along and was like, all right, well, now you guys can be professionals.
Starting point is 00:06:46 I'm gonna give you a world title. I was like, I was at your fight in Denver. Yeah. Yeah, I got that one done super stoked and then got the title since then. We both got the title, yeah, for one now, so we're super stoked right now. And they corner each other.
Starting point is 00:06:58 I'd say, well, of course. You want to get to MMA guy who's a stud, but I was telling him, it never made sense to me when they do MMA versus high level grapple. Because the MMA guy who's a stud, but I was telling him, it never made sense to me when they do MMA versus high level grapple. Because the MMA guy's not gonna play the game, so it's not that exciting. Well, why?
Starting point is 00:07:11 Because even though you make a stall, it keeps it up. Yeah, it's difficult. And Jiu-Jitsu, it requires two guys to really wanna fight, you know, and make it exciting. You know, and you don't really know who wants to fight until they're in there, you know, so it's tough. But I'd imagine MMA is more just trying to neutralize so that he can blast you in the face as opposed to, you know, engaging.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Yeah, but I'm saying they're doing straight jujitsu. Right. It's a MMA guy who, he's a black belt, but there's black belt. There is. I have a black belt. I have a black belt. I have a black belt. Like, y'all. Yeah, like the big different black. Have you ever rolled with an MMA guy that gave you fits?
Starting point is 00:07:45 Yeah, I'm big different black. Have you ever rolled with an I got the gave you fits? Yeah, I'm sure Yeah, I'm sure I don't think Brian realizes how good you guys are Very tough like like you know, I'm a make-out there without a doubt Yeah, like name a few durin. No for sure You know I'm a man guys out there without a dog. Yeah, I'm a few Surprisingly tough was you know he's not really known for she just is but Luke Rockle has great. Oh, yeah I knew how good he was at grappling and he would never use it and you never use it
Starting point is 00:08:29 He's busy with cut be even all those over at a K. Hey John Fitch. That's who we he was Daniel Kormier He was training with he learned from Daniel Kormier and came Velaska. They all came up just yeah It's like rock him up. He can serve too. That's right. His brother. I think was a professional professional Seriously, he's bigger than you guys too Yeah, looks massive. Yeah, it's 220. Yeah, look what do you guys wear? He's a pilot. 190 probably. I'm probably close to,
Starting point is 00:08:50 in between 175, 180 right now. And guys, and guys, that's a wrestling 180. That's a grappling 185. Yeah, that's some density. That's what that means. That's called a truce. It is a different way. What else is interesting?
Starting point is 00:09:02 I mean, it just happens. Like, even the podcast or comedy world, there's like these beefs in Jitoo. I feel like now it's like there's always these beefs. That's different from the drama. It's different drama. And people pick up on it. What do you mean? I sell the show.
Starting point is 00:09:14 There's beef. You guys had beef with Goren Ryan a little bit, right? Like Goren's my boy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Goren's that I love him, man. When you're two daughters, all just a little small petty things that started, things I started you know escalating and then the social media gets a whole of it And it's like you know real housewives of Brazilian jiu-jitsu exactly
Starting point is 00:09:31 Yeah, yeah, exactly. Hey, be let's take a little break dude. Let's take a break I'll tell you what unlike the Ritolo twins I won't be in Costa Rica, but I will be in Chicago Chicago Friday Saturday bullshaw Jiu-jitsu seminar again not like them, dude, you do a standup comedy? Yep, I'll be on stage. So my license is cool as those guys, but I hope you in freezing Chicago
Starting point is 00:09:52 December 8th and that's this Thursday and Friday. I'm in Nashville and Austin. Get your tickets. I think way that you know, as funny as this weekend starting tomorrow, I'll be at the helium comedy club in Indianapolis. I said it out loud. Not warm there either.
Starting point is 00:10:03 No, it's not, buddy. And then Spacan comedy club where I want to go goose hunting. I don't know if it's going to happen. But if I'm not goose hunting, Brennan, I'll be doing stand up the December 15, 16. Great club. And comedy club, I can't wait. And then off the hook, I'm not stopping.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Can't stop won't stop. I would barter. December 21 to 23. And then Comedy Zone Charlotte, North Carolina, December 29 to 31. Dude, you know what would make these dates easier? If you had a gallon of macadamia milk. Well, you know what's funny is if you go to house
Starting point is 00:10:29 of macadamias and you get the healthiest nut on the planet for you with omega-7 fatty acids, that is great for satiety, then a lot of people that are into longevity, take macadamia nuts, although they're super expensive, but guess what? House of macadamia has cornered it out. It's figured it out. They got 90 farmers they work with, all right? And they're giving you a gallon of macadamia nuts, although they're super expensive, but guess what, house macadamia has cornered it out.
Starting point is 00:10:45 They got 90 farmers they work with, all right? And they're giving you a gallon of macadamia milk. I put it in my coffee, it is silky smooth. Good buttery. It tastes buttery and nutty and delicious, and it's not, if you're lactose intolerant, don't worry about it, because it's a 100% pure macadamia.
Starting point is 00:11:00 And you can get that free gallon of macadamia milk when you visit houseamacadamia.com, such TFAK. Just add the milk to your cart with any products. Use the code TFAK. That's houseamacadamia.com slash TFAK. Let me just, my cordon's out of your way class. He said giant anyways.
Starting point is 00:11:16 He's a master guy. But they say after, you know, in absolutes, ADCC. Exactly. I see. The funny thing is when you watch them, they switch you in there're kids going against grown men and rolling them up. Imagine me and a grown man.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Like, what are you doing? There are 14 year olds that will take you as a grown man. It was them. That was always us growing up. You know, taking on the bigger guys. Like Gordon's still on the list for sure. You know, it's always kind of just like, yeah, he knows it. I mean, that's what even a lot of our drama came through. He's good at like creating it. You know, I thought it was kind of just like, yeah, he knows it. He knows it. He knows it.
Starting point is 00:11:45 That's what even a lot of our drama came through. He's good at like creating it, you know. Oh yeah. He's the best. He's the best. He's the best. He's the best. He's the best.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Yeah, and he's got to really, really got to. Yeah, yeah. But the thing too with, like, it's good for everybody. What Gordon's doing, you know, Gordon's a seven figure athlete, bro. Seven figure in Jiu-Jitsu? Gordon don't have to. Shit. Super fun.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Gordon just does, you know, his online seminars. He posted a thing, someone's making fun of his, like, money or something, he's like, say what's on, and posted how much it makes him off. Like that's a, you know, Well, he answers as much as he hates, as much people hate him. Like he's a high, high-level businessman.
Starting point is 00:12:20 That's an outstanding financial. Yeah, that's kind of a lie. He's also incredible at what he does. Who hates him? How do you hate, you're gonna be if it's fun, but to hate an artist of that level. You're like, hey, when you get that good at something, that it takes everything to be that good, right?
Starting point is 00:12:37 How many hours have they been you've been on a track? How can you track what he's doing on the time that he's putting into his craft? I'm only 100%. Especially in a world like the thing about Jiu Jitsu is it's pretty much been corrupted by steroids forever. So everyone's been on steroids. So it's almost, it's almost like,
Starting point is 00:12:52 how is it cheating if everyone's doing it? I feel like it's their mindset, you know what I'm going into it. So it's like, it is hard to say, like, yeah, you can't disregard everything he's done because everyone else is doing it too. Yes, you know what I mean? It's like baseball back in the day when they hit on like Baye Bonza. I mean, so someone like yeah, but the picture's run too. Yes, you know what I mean? It's like baseball back in the day when they hate on like Bay Bonsan.
Starting point is 00:13:05 So so much. Yeah, but the pictures run still. Yeah, so who's that fault? It's like every you know, so Yeah, exactly. That's like the the argument. I guess you can make but also like the true essence of Jitsu at least what always was was the smaller guy beating the bigger guy, you know, and that's not why we're known as like the roots That's why we try to keep it as roots, you know, the, it's not as possible. Because you had three years just trapped out. You know, the smaller grace you take on this huge guy and all of a sudden he's choking him out.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Yeah. How do you, that guy just beat him, you know, and that was my dad. He was always super into that. And you know, I feel like over time, to just, it's been starting to lose that, you know, like that, that, it has a little bit in, I think, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:43 And it's nobody's fault. It's just entertainment. And when you don't have those regulations in place guys are gonna go wild Like I when I was happening in the law sports, right every sport like when I was in the UFC If I could have got away with it just to compete I probably would have done steroids I just I couldn't afford it and though the guys I was fine against could yeah, but There was no reason not to like in baseball., it's like, why not do it? And then I signed a seven year, $400 million contract, you know?
Starting point is 00:14:10 But if you guys bring it back to the root, like you said, the roots. Where you just got away from that, because I think they couldn't get attention. You know, like you guys, there's so many bad asses, man. There's just, you weren't getting the viewership, you weren't getting the attention. And then these monsters come out, like you watch going right like Jesus
Starting point is 00:14:27 Animal and Making so much better when you naturally exactly Soon, you know, it's coming soon. I know it's gonna take a lot of while you know, but yeah, it's on You know, there's a purity like that you guys represent, you know I think that's an important thing to hold on to. I think. It's because you guys are famous in such a juicier world since you were,
Starting point is 00:14:50 I don't know, three, shouldn't you, pants? And then now, you guys are, I mean, they're not jaded. You know, there's no ego, there's no. Well, but it might be because you're always competing and always working. And it sounds to me, correct me if I'm wrong, you guys do a lot of rolling together. So, the metal sharpen's metal, right?
Starting point is 00:15:07 That's it, a million times better. I mean, it must be so weird to have the same kind of bodies and almost brains and you're rolling together. How does that work? Like, it constantly does. You do it all the time, it's a sport like chess, you know, you're always trying to guess your opponent's next move. Right, but you're kind of rushing.
Starting point is 00:15:23 When you have a true brother, you already kind of know his next move anyway. Yeah. So then when you roll together so much your whole lives, it's just like, like even you can fight someone so big, so strong, it's always worse fighting my brother. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Technically it's always more scary than strength. Oh yeah. We know what we want to do so far ahead of what we know and we're actually doing it, you know. So it's always just like a mental battle. Exactly. Do you find though that you're competitive, do you find like if he pushes, you're going to push back? Is it, is it just natural, right?
Starting point is 00:15:50 You can't help it. I can't, yeah, we push hard with each other than we do anyone else. I've heard stories. I've heard stories about you guys where you'll clear the mat where it'll be like, like you start rolling and then pretty soon an hour later, you're still going at it. Yeah, the thing and we get so fit, you know, there's things soon, an hour later, you're still going at it. That's true. And we get so fit, there's things like, we roll with each other,
Starting point is 00:16:09 like we would never roll with other people. You know what I mean? They get to a level of intensity that we could never feel good about doing that to someone else. You know what I mean? But it's our brother, so we could slap you know, and it's all good. I'm pretty sure of forever.
Starting point is 00:16:21 But it's like, there's some days where I've seen my professor in Jeleka, with with her mouth open, like, we're just slap boxing basically, you know. Oh, full of slashing down. It's all in practice. It's like in the afterwards, it's all love, you know. Maybe a little eggy for like a minute or two, but. Deep.
Starting point is 00:16:37 You practice with wrestlers, do you do any take down stuff, like with a dog stony stuff like that? Rushs and stuff. And as long as they're in particular, We always worked all of kind of the forms of martial arts and just growing up, you know, wrestling judo. You do? You know, hopped into like some high school
Starting point is 00:16:51 wrestling classes, some random judo schools, things like that. And so we always just, my parents are always really good at just kind of making sure we were like well versed everywhere and trying to keep us well rounded. And you stayed injury free, which is my impression of everybody who does jujitsu is this. I got it. I'm getting back into it right now. Just like the CrossFit guys, you know, they were injured. Same shit. But did you your parents, they had to put put you guys in this they had to be a plan, right? Like there was a plan as far
Starting point is 00:17:23 as because they they would you they couldn't just be like, right, no school today, just do Jiu Jitsu. So I'm, that's a good question. I'm still curious about your dad, like as a dad, it'd be hard for me to pull him out of school. I'm like, these kids got it because everyone thinks your kid has it. Especially with where Jiu Jitsu was at that point,
Starting point is 00:17:39 he's right, like that's the good, that's the good, you know, especially at that time, like, you know, Jiu Jitsu, you got, the best of the best weren't really making money off of competing. They're making money off of once they got that championship title, then they can teach seminars, open up their gyms, and almost like a college degree. Then you can work off.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Usually people get so good at judo and then the plan is just to open a gym. That's where you make your money. Maybe you'd have to want that for your kids. Don't get me wrong to it's a good life. But I think that's why I like that. I think the second that root of a sponsor shit, that show your real sponsor shit,
Starting point is 00:18:10 the second we started getting some real money. And we're like, hold on there, they're kids and they're making our, it's 1500 bucks each, all right? Back then, Ken and I were somewhere like the only kids making YouTube videos, highlight ones, almost putting them together, clipping them together, and then those are starting
Starting point is 00:18:24 to actually get some views and traction. Yeah, and I feel like we were kind of like the first kids to kind of start, you know, having some sort of following, you know, as a kid. Yes, I'm not too much. Yeah, mom and dad. So they were like, oh, this could kind of go somewhere. Yes, and then we got that first sponsorship from Ruka,
Starting point is 00:18:38 and then they're like, okay, we're committed. It's kind of wild to commit to something like that, you know. It's what the rescue obviously does. It's the war, but it's like, damn, mom. There is very, I feel like just very few like kids in the world at that time that had been training since they were potty trained. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:18:54 Such a jiu-jitsu. Injitsu in particular. There's very few in the world at that time, right? So it's like such a small percentage, you know, as long as we kind of stay with it. My son is in jiu-jitsu right now. It's the first thing at 12 that he's taken to like a fish to water.
Starting point is 00:19:08 No way. Like there's something about it that he just, he couldn't, he didn't like team sports and the minute he got on a mat and he started learning stuff, he got obsessed. And now he has to go. It's like, I don't have to motivate him. That's so cool.
Starting point is 00:19:21 It's so cool. It's such a game changer, man. I've seen it all. I've seen kids hate it their first month and then all of a sudden, you know, it's so cool. It's such a it's such a game changer. I've seen it all I think is I hate it their first month and then all of a sudden you know like one day something just some clicks Yeah, something clicks and they love it or every you guys ever suffer from I'm some twin stuff from my identity Cracks a little bit right because you're both these badass world champions, but it's your twins I mean, though he grows hair out. Yeah I'm on that hair.
Starting point is 00:19:45 I wish I could have hair like that for a long time. When he grew it out, we like, what the fuck you doing? I'm so good. I'm so good. I'm looking at fine hair like that. So much condition. I did it the day I was so conditioned for all the real life. I'm like, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:19:58 Funding money and condi- You started noticing it. You're just spending money and condi- Hey, you know what? Take it, what's the guy with hair like mine? That's worth it. That's worth it. That's what. Rhett has no choice.
Starting point is 00:20:07 Yeah, I got no choice. But the guy. Other times his bar. Mouse Brown. That's the classic. That's the classic. Yeah, but with your parents, I hate when people do it with twins when they dress them the same.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Right? We were real young. We did that. Yeah, yeah. We started growing up. We're going to click that. Yeah, it's pretty quick. We clicked that. Do you ever get burned, yeah, we started growing out right I'm gonna click that That was pretty quick we click that do you ever get burnt out like that? Did you ever get tired of it? Do you ever think about I mean how do you keep it so hard?
Starting point is 00:20:30 It's always so good at that. You know they worked us super hard You know we're training a lot, but anytime that we got burned out we'd go serve or go to break up Yeah, we want to eat I feel like as a family we'd go to Costa Rica for a month once a year You know, I think what made them very okay with us taking breaks is like we'd go take that month break or whatever and we just wouldn't touch you just to for the month and we'd come home and we'd be training better than before. Yeah, I'm back in the back. You're fresh and just saying we were missing it and we were just like excited to be there
Starting point is 00:20:59 and we were just fired up. Yeah, just not your parents figured it out. They figured it out. It's mind-blowing. But it also had two kids that had a certain constitution. You know, there are some people, it sounds like you just, not everybody can do what you do. You obviously had something that took to it.
Starting point is 00:21:18 And I think the hardest thing, well it's also the hardest thing is just being able to show up every day. And that's not easy. I think it was expected though. Like you know what, there's certain certain parents that have expectations. You know?
Starting point is 00:21:32 Yeah man. Yeah it was, what's this saying? It feels like you're hardly working, you know, but you're working hard. Yeah. That's what it was our whole life, you know. Like it just felt like part of life going to do it to, you know, and that's why we are homeschooled.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Honestly, we felt like we were taking the easy route out. We're like, we don't have to go to school.iu jitsu, you know, and that's why we were homeschooled. Honestly, we felt like we were taking the easy route out. We're like, we don't have to go to school, like proper school, you know what I mean? Like we don't have to go to college, like, like how many hours a day I just wanna fight. How many hours a day did you roll? Have you, would you, would you as a kid? Going up, it was a lot.
Starting point is 00:21:59 I say growing up, we trained more growing up than we do now on a weekly basis. I thought that shit. But to your dad's credit, we're gonna do this. You're gonna do it. You're gonna do it. They're still committed. What does your dad do?
Starting point is 00:22:12 He, for a living, what got him to? Back then he was shaping surfboards and doing construction. Wow. Back then this job got a little bit shaky. When we got sponsored by Ruka, and that's when it was on as know as far as you did to go I think that's another reason why I was so super, you know, they were so like hands on you were there job They seem yeah, they seem the future that that we can you know that they saw something the do you guys feel pressure from that at all?
Starting point is 00:22:38 Not really I feel like it's still at that age. We are still so like just like yeah Well, I'm literally just thinking about it that, we're just surfing about it. That way we're just surfing and training, you know, it's still there for like work at that time. Yeah, because there's you might sons in baseball. It's pretty good baseball play. And there's some dads on that team. I can feel the pressure they put on their son like,
Starting point is 00:22:56 yeah, in this ain't it, but the kids playing seven days a week. They're playing. When they actually like you though, the father's no, no, no, no. There you go. I think I just feel bad for the kids. no, no, no, no, no I think I just like feel bad for the kids. I'm like the wrestling tournaments So you see those dads it's like you want this he doesn't do give him a break It's like 12 pounds you hydrate is like six ring words It is what it takes but I think it's really interesting
Starting point is 00:23:27 that like you've gotten to this point as a competitor and you don't think of it as work. That's what I think is interesting. You guys seem so easy going, man. It's such a real... To what degree do you drill? Like how much is there in drilling? To get super good at something, like John Donner
Starting point is 00:23:43 has talked about like it takes five years if you train five hours a day, you can get really good at anything. John Donner has said, anybody if you really wanna get really good at anything, whether it's guitar, jujitsu, if you take five years, you train five hours a day with the right teacher, you can get world class at a. Right, now whether or not that's true, yeah, fast.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Consistence, yeah, put it in the time. As they say, if you eat a lot of food, you're yeah. Consistence, yeah. I'm putting it in the tea time. I say, saying if you eat a lot of food, you're gonna get big. Right. But what is, what degree is that? Like, no shit. But as far as world class, I disagree with them.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Well, I agree with you. That's not true. But what would you say to what ratio is it drilling, where you drill versus live wrestle? Well, everyone learns a different way too. For my brother and I. That's the number one thing that I've noticed. Like out of all things.
Starting point is 00:24:30 There's not one path to victory. There's not one right way. Every single person has a different way to do things. You know, some people may like work out twice a day, three times a day. My brother and I, we don't really work out at all. You know what I mean? I mean, obviously we do body weight,
Starting point is 00:24:43 we do surfing, we do it like different, you know, different types of exercise. And I exercise. I goals Jim like we're not at Goal jump and iron You know the amount of people every single one of my professors are telling all you need to sit there like lip all these That's not what we do. Yeah, it's just like I've tried it like no month in and I just didn't like it I didn't like just like I started in my I'm like some people who have these they can't even lock a darset, can't even lock a buggy choke.
Starting point is 00:25:06 I'm like, I like the mobility, you know, I like the, I feel like everyone has a different path to success or something. Some people like drilling a lot, you know, some people just need to drill it into their minds, you know, for them to learn. My brother and I were like that a little bit, but never really too much either, you know.
Starting point is 00:25:21 We were always just kind of like, what we would do is we'd work backwards from a problem. Let's say the Hew Hook situation, my brother and I, we both got Hew Hook to really battle in first the ADCC trials as kids. We got our knees and ankles popped. Damn. So we were growing up, we had only done
Starting point is 00:25:37 like IBGT style competitions, right? And there's no leg locks. So we were just kind of doing great on everything except for that. And I think we both made a couple matches, smashing people from the outside and then we finally got leg locked Both of us and as we walked away limping. Okay, we got to figure this out. However the next day we're all limping around like New York Mom's like stop limping you find We get to the garage and we get we just put each other in the yuk, you know, and we figure it out.
Starting point is 00:26:07 We work backwards, so then we'll work backwards technically, and then it's, and then it's boom, then it's training. Got one blessing, have another person who's involved in the yuk. It will. It will be a success. It will be a success. It will be a success.
Starting point is 00:26:19 This person might be really talented, but it will have the same dedication, but you guys have each other, man. I mean, it took like six months straight of every day, just like figuring out that fifth, like the heel hooks. And like he said, starting from, it's just starting from the problem, starting from the heel, like what's creating the torque?
Starting point is 00:26:35 Okay, it's the hips, it's the grip, it's the feet. Okay, so we need to close the distance, the first thing, right? And you know, heel slip, you know, it's just figuring out stuff by stuff like that. But also to your credit, like that's just the kind of transformation Jiu-Jitsu, like, leg locks and heel hooks and, you know, the 50-50 guard, like all that stuff started popping off. Yeah, everything's kind of like cyclical if you kind of like, if you really like, focus on it, like, I think it was more so because leg locks were always considered dirty.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Yeah. You know, like back in the day in Brazil, if you guys are doing leg locks, they're throwing shoes on the mats and plastic bottles and stuff. It was just, you know, like back in the day in Brazil, guys are doing leglocks, they're throwing shoes on them at some classic bottles. It was just, you know, like leglocks that they were very frowned upon. So it was like, obviously, let's take the one thing that no one really did, just cause it was kind of like against the rules even though it wasn't and fixate on it.
Starting point is 00:27:16 And people ran with it. That was John Deanna and Donna Urz. And then they would do that. And then in the UFC was that Bruno Polo-, Pella Hari's, Pella Hari's. He was in Paris. And he would, he would pop people's, he was a dick. And people hate him.
Starting point is 00:27:30 He was a dick. He was called a dick. But I, that guy, that guy tried to blind Jake, Jake Shield. I saw it, that guy was a dick. Wow, I know. Yeah, you do some gnarly stuff, but I remember, I remember when Nate was getting ready to fight him, we were training with Nate, and Nate's a high level black belt.
Starting point is 00:27:45 He's been doing a long time, and even he was in the weeds with those leg locks. And I was like, oh shit, this isn't like, they had to bring a special, or the way the guys started shooting those all, yeah, they started special, like they were like specialists at it, like Paul Harries and then the other black belts,
Starting point is 00:28:00 they're like, I don't know this language, man. Yeah, I was scared. So scary those ankle locks. And then you see it go all full circle. You see like Nike Ryan, for example, I remember he was amazing leg locker, leg locking everyone, you know? And then I had a really good match with them,
Starting point is 00:28:13 and shut down all of his leg locks. And then after that, you turn into like a really good wrestler. Yeah, boom. And then you see all this, now there's the big wrestling push right now, everyone's becoming a good wrestler again. Yeah, I was gonna ask you that. Once everybody figures out,
Starting point is 00:28:25 in anything whether it's a boxing gym or a jujitsu gym, if you're in the same with the same group of people, it starts getting incestuous. Like you can tell somebody's got patterns. So I know what this guy's gonna do. So now you're ahead of him. So he's a whatever. He's an echoloc guy or he's a triangle guy or boxing.
Starting point is 00:28:41 He's gonna judge. Yeah, you can shut it down. So like one of the things, I guess that's where competition comes in, because you're seeing looks, you've not seen before. It's not what you see in your gym, right? Do you bring people in who are different? That way is that how you stay sharp or do you?
Starting point is 00:28:58 Definitely if you can, it helps. Sometimes you don't always have that ability, but for sure, if you can. I think one thing that we've always really focused on, just something that we could just do with each other, is just focus on our reactions. Even when I teach seminars, this is what I tell, right when I start to seminar,
Starting point is 00:29:12 most seminars I go, even before I teach, before we teach any techniques today, I just like, the main thing I want you guys to kind of get through your mind is how important reactions are. It's like, kind of take it away, how do we go over reactions? Well, yeah, it's all about timing, even for his whole ADCC performance,
Starting point is 00:29:30 it's last one, you know? Not in particular. Not in particular? Yeah, yeah, there's this, it's really even hard to explain, to be honest with you, you know, but there's certain techniques that can, as long as you react in the right time, you know?
Starting point is 00:29:42 The neutralizer. You neutralize it. Right, can you do behind it? There is a reaction for every technique. Every technique, there is a reaction for. There's a escape, there's a defense for every technique out there. And even if there isn't, there's one ready to be made. So it's really just understanding and adding that to your
Starting point is 00:30:00 your quiver of techniques. Because you don't make them know every single technique, but as long as you have a reaction, you know, for every single, you know, problematic hers. Yeah. Then you're gonna be able to win the match. That's like someone of my friend, Audez, right now that we're trying to explain him,
Starting point is 00:30:13 because his Jitsu is amazing. Shout out Audez. A lot of really good Jitsu, but he still makes a lot of mistakes, you know? And I just, it's been trouble. Sometimes at the end of the day, it's just whoever makes the least amount of.
Starting point is 00:30:24 For sure. Yeah, it's your level. And something as simple as this, like tie like grab this, like this right here, like a collar grip, boom, like a collar grip, before I used to like try to break this with all my power, but we're finding these adults and these guys have twice, three times our strength, they're never gonna break this grip, you know?
Starting point is 00:30:37 But like the second, like say we're standing, I can, you know, boom, they go drop, they're gonna argue whatever the case is, I cannot break this. Yeah. The second I step under it, it's so useless. Like, it's useless. Like, it goes outside single knee taps.
Starting point is 00:30:49 It's pointless to have this grip, right? I could start kind of rushing tying the two. Oh, it's just you adapting too. I can't break the grip, but I have to react to it. So I could put it in a position where that grip is now useless. If that may be the case, it's an advantage for you. I can't wait to somebody grabs my Technique On one
Starting point is 00:31:15 Oh my game grip Fuck dude, I can't wait you as a strange Best out you guys seem pretty stress-free man. Well, I was gonna say that. You guys are young, stress-free. On that point, this guy clearly just came back from co-story gun. He got shot the vote. Yeah, he got the fuck to do this. Just out.
Starting point is 00:31:32 When you're working for mastery, like, well, what I was listening to you talk, when you're working for mastery like this and you're getting so good at something and always staying sharp, I correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like you naturally will end up having to live a clean life in one way or another. So there's no room for bullshit or lying on the mat.
Starting point is 00:31:55 You've got to be honest with yourself, and there's always somebody breathing down your neck. So you've got to constantly, that process of, like it requires a certain amount of self-restriction. You know, for complacency really. No, yeah, that requires dedication. Excellent.
Starting point is 00:32:10 It's like excellence. It's life mastery. You know, because you're talking the way you talk, you guys are saying stuff that like there's no true way, right? There's all different kinds of way. You would never understand that unless you had done what you're doing. And I always say there are two things I was thinking about a lot. There are a lot of people I know. They might be successful, they might have an audience,
Starting point is 00:32:29 but most of their life has been spent listening to what people say and listening about life and reading out life. They're not doing life. There's something about putting your hands on the world, literally, where you learn things you could never learn from a book, so I can read all the books on your Getsu. I could never get hands on your Getsu.
Starting point is 00:32:49 You're not doing it, right? Unless I do it. Yeah, yeah. I feel like you guys are like this too. Again, going back to your parents, to you guys at a school of folks on Getsu, some people are like, oh, but they didn't have friends and stuff like, no, no, no, no, I do that friends.
Starting point is 00:33:02 They had more friends and probably your kids in this weird, more real friends, real legit friends. Exactly. And then also you guys were like working on something with the other kids. That's the experience a lot. Yeah, you know, traveling different gyms, you know, different, you know.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Like the education of parents and the other life. It's way better than I'm also doing like, well, not like we were just like little gym rats too, at the same time, we were at the beach most of the day, you know what I mean surfing so dude It's gonna be really awkward when I bring my son to your father and tell him to raise him
Starting point is 00:33:32 This is my son is yours until he's 20 see you in your 20s on the poster. You go got counts go To answer in camps that's what that's pretty much this whole this For me guys figured it out You get to answer if in camps? That's pretty much just cool. This cool leader room for me. You guys figured it out, dude. That's our favorite, we've been going there ever since we were little. I spend my dad's like, his little hidden gem is Costa Rica.
Starting point is 00:33:52 We're in Tappiacere. He's the North Pacific part, familiar with Tamarindo. A little bit, yeah. It's about an hour south, yeah, Tamarindo. So it's right where the jungle meets the ocean. Where did we go, B? We went to Haka. Haka, okay, yeah, yeah. I got the other way, but down there got a little bit down there. Yeah. That's more like touristy and shit.
Starting point is 00:34:08 There was a huge crocodile on the beach. Exactly. I was like, fuck this. Yeah. There's a lot more crocs down that way. Yeah. Really? Have you seen, and down that way, now where you guys are? There's less. And there are any season they come out a lot more and all the rivers, they kind of flood all of that. Have you ever seen them while you're surfing? I've never seen a lot of boys have. You they kind of like all of that. Have you ever seen them while you're serving? I've never seen a lot of boys have. I've never seen a lot of friends that I see. All of that.
Starting point is 00:34:30 To do the saltwater crocs too, right? That's right sir. They're brackish water. They'll eat you. They're not nile crocs there. They're American crocodiles. A little less aggressive. Get up to 25 feet anyway.
Starting point is 00:34:40 You saw them come. Go straight in the South part where we were, get worried about cracker owls and prostitutes, right? What? Yeah, cracker owls. I didn't know that. I didn't know that. We went to a bar and I was like,
Starting point is 00:34:55 dude, we went to a bar. Why is there a fill of acid in there, right? Literally, dude, that's strong. Oh, fuck. I didn't get away from it. I was literally, I was like, I need a condom for my body here. I was sitting down, I was like, hold on, I know pros, but I see him. Yeah, this need a condom for my body here.
Starting point is 00:35:05 I was like, hold on, I know pros, but I see him. Yeah, this is a real pro. I was like, am I, is it my sweater? What are these girls there? I know, we were all dead, I was like, look, guess I've had a result of the dude. That's the same game, but where's all the dudes? As he studs over there for sure.
Starting point is 00:35:19 I was like, we need to get out of here. I'm about to get divorced, I gotta leave. I was like, we gotta get out of here. 20 bucks. So, it's like. I was like, we gotta get out of here. 20 bucks. So it was like, it's like, oh, he's checking you. Oh, it's good. I'm in a machine.
Starting point is 00:35:31 It's $20. Five. Y'all go swim with the crowd, get out. Yeah, this is interesting. It was like Bangkok. I remember last time we were in Bangkok, it was so hectic, we're walking, right? We were at the ward, we're walking in next scene.
Starting point is 00:35:44 I just feel someone grab my hair It's our polling and I'm I get knocked off balance a bit and I was like I was like rattled like like who is this and it was like some I couldn't even a little I don't know what he was They love them over there them over there. Yeah. I got it. I got it. I got it.
Starting point is 00:36:05 I got it. I got it. Well, Brie does the hair. It's a very funny. Brie got a little trouble out in Thailand too. Yeah, I didn't move you, but I haven't heard of Hangover 2. And bring up my character and hangover 2. And let me show you what I look like because I got, when I was dressed like this, I got
Starting point is 00:36:20 more looks. Women were all about it. Just bring up my character. that's the first one. I put, no, no, second one, the second one right there. With the curly hair. I think I'm a part of it. Yeah, that one. Okay, I look a little bit, there you go.
Starting point is 00:36:33 I had my skimmy start, and I had that wig. I mean, I'm like your ugly or older brother. But, but the girls were all feeling me. The lady boys, we shot it in a real strip, like cowboy, we were there in real strip the girls were all feeling me the lady boys that we shot shot it in in a real strip Like cowboy. We were there in real strip club. Those are all of us and we're doing that And then when I took my wig off and I took the makeup off this all year. They were like, oh You wouldn't be that way, but you know, I love you did come No, I I love it.
Starting point is 00:37:05 I'm sorry, remember that one. My buddy, the lady boy there, my buddy, we went to see the lady boy. Tell me how you got fooled because it shows what kind of guy you are. Well, they're the nice guy. Tell them, this is the prime example. Check for the Adam's awful. He didn't check and they see You
Starting point is 00:37:37 She was adorable like with a tight little point So cute skin. I was just like, bro, we were dancing. I was dancing. I'm dancing. I'm dancing. I'm dancing. I'm dancing. I'm dancing. I'm dancing. Dude, I'm looking at her. She had these almond eyes. I was lost and I was sweating. I was like, this is my girl forever. This is my girlfriend. She's a moron. So fucking good. And she had an apple bottom. Like, I was like, what the fuck is going on? And then there were these phone booths, these phone booths. And I took her in there and I was fucking drinking. I was just bumslap into. No.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Kits him like, like, she owed me money. Like, Kits him like, like, it was the last woman on earth. And then I reached down and I went uh-oh Yeah, hey that was a handful of I hope that's a hernia Because that feels a lot like a dick And tell what you did well here's the best part I pulled back But I didn't just I pulled back that And I can see her look she was so like crushed
Starting point is 00:38:43 Because I just like that and And you gotta have a full thing about what he is I can't hurt looks she was so like crushed because I just like that and The thing about my is I can't hurt anybody's feelings. Yeah, I just can't I Went back in So I know in the kiss demand I said it here and I said it out loud Did it not to hurt He said it's not to hurt his feeling and then I put him a stomachache My stomach and I had to get the fuck out of there I wanted to think him whatever it doesn't matter
Starting point is 00:39:06 Now I was in when I was in when we were in the I'd be like oh you're the same way I am you cannot hurt people's feeling And you're I'd be like take all my money and you're also a little bit gay, right? So I don't think so They're also side note. I think you knew that was a lady. No, no, no That that there was a lady boy that was all of her Brody Stevens the late Brody Stanford the Lake grade Brody Stevens and She was this tylan this. Yeah, this was a man who was a woman. I'm telling you. I'm telling you I've never seen a woman this beautiful and this was a man and I said
Starting point is 00:39:52 Brody I go if you have sex with this person You can stop at the first time Back to just you. Let me rub my finger to your hair, bro. No, it's too simple. But I say, you guys have a pretty like laid back vibe. Stress? When do you get stressed? Pretty low.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Was that the time you two got stressed? Before, I feel like competition days, there's a lot of stress always. And then after that, it's pretty smooth sailing, you know? As far as life goes. How do you deal with a competition? Just show up. You just do it, you know.
Starting point is 00:40:26 To show up. It's a reaction. There's a lot of three. Yeah, it's a three-ish. It's all a reaction. It's all a reaction. There's all this extra stuff. The end of the day, it's just a match, you know.
Starting point is 00:40:34 So, just try not to make it more than that, you know. You guys have girlfriends? Yeah. Yeah. Does that ever cause issues? No. No. It's funny, because I'm a year and a half and he's a week and a half and
Starting point is 00:40:48 so she must be weird that she's attracted to your brother as well. We've heard that a lot but it's funny they try to act like they know no no no it's a different like yeah right okay guys you're so much better looking than your brother. Like, right. Dantacle twits. I did. Dantacle twits. Have you ever broken up with a girl and had her?
Starting point is 00:41:12 Oh, you're so young. So I guess, you know, imagine you bring a girl. No, this is so, you don't like me. This is your first girlfriend and you've had a few. I've had two, or this is my second. Yeah, I've had one. It's different. So I said your age at 20, you know,
Starting point is 00:41:25 you guys are in Costa Rica, compete in here, travel in here, so they'd have to use the schedule. Yeah, I've had a lot of the place. So it's just, man, it keeps you out of trouble though. It's crazy how much more focus to keep suits. Oh, yeah. It's unbelievable. It's so beautiful.
Starting point is 00:41:38 Okay, the last six months, we're like, two times. You need to be on it, dude. You know, yeah, it's all fired up. Like, dude, what are you talking about? You just, because yeah, I get, you know, it's all fired up. Like, dude, what are you talking about? He's just, cause yeah, I get you. Oh my God, that is the only thing he's all focused. Love it.
Starting point is 00:41:49 The question I always have is like, I guess every kid is different and sometimes regular school is good for some kids, but I don't know if you'd ever regret taking your kid. You would know, what do you think about this? Like taking your kid and just getting them really good at anything like that, or just is it not for every kid?
Starting point is 00:42:06 It's not for every, like there's some kids, you know my son's team now, who I was like, oh, that kid needs to stay in school. Yeah. They're like, they're dad. Like, their dad knows, their dad knows straight up. Yeah. And their dad's put around the game long enough.
Starting point is 00:42:23 He's a lawyer, okay. Yeah, yeah, the kid's gonna be a doctor or whatever, but baseball's not for him. But, um, their dad recognized, he's been around high level stuff. So you can tell, you can, you just can tell people like that form like you can tell. I knew my son was gonna be half-lettered, you know, two. Oh, yeah. They put a ball in his hands like, yeah, all right, he might be a little bit of an outlier. Yeah. And then with them, you know, the dad, you know, when you just, you're around it, you just know, two. Oh yeah. They put a ball in his hands like, all right, he might be a little bit of an outlier. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:45 And then with them, the dad, when you just, you're around it, you just know, like, oh yeah, these kids can do it. If you put them on the right path, you know. Yeah, find your call on and then pursue. Yeah. That's life. You guys are so fortunate.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Basically three, you found your passion. That's what most people get in trouble. They graduate college, whatever, and they haven't found their passion and then depression sets in or whatever. Or they go to the military and they get done. They're like, whatever, and they haven't found their passion, and then depression sets in, or what are, or they go to the military, and they get done, they're like, I want them to do it.
Starting point is 00:43:08 You guys are so freaking fortunate that your dad instilled this in you, and you guys are flourishing with it. You know, I'm not even those in time. That's what I'm so blessed every day for that exact. You dad deserves a freaking award, man. As a dad, like God. That's the best thing.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Well, the co-hosts, your fucking father had to envision this and then it works out. You talking one and fucking 50 million. You know what I'm saying? And not only did you do it with one, you did it with fucking two. Yeah, I'm good.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Not. Unreal. It's also a support system, man. Yeah, they, well, that's kind of, I think, that's why we always, like, we don't really, too much think of our money as like, our money is kind of like, our money, you know what I mean? So that's like, yes, the family's money.
Starting point is 00:43:48 It's like, you know, all of our, like our what in bonuses, without all of our cash flow for the most part, it's like shared throughout the family. It's going towards the Costa Rica house, the gym, things to like kind of just set up more than for sure. It's more like, it's dope. It's the big picture of the family. That's how, should you have said that? Yeah, 100 times. We got a little silly stuff. We do, she's a badass too, right? Oh, hard. It's the family sure it's more dope and the big pictures of family. That's how should you have
Starting point is 00:44:08 She's a badass too right? She's the best growing up. You know, she's so an artist. She's a 14 oh my god She kind of she was feeling the pressure of like I brother and I you know she we go to the comms I know you're fighting over to the brosal sis, you know, and she's kind of starting to get little sis you know. She was kind of starting to get out there. She's a little badass too. She's a little badass and she's whatever she does in life she's going to be successful. She's awesome. I think she's a beast for sure. And she in school? Yeah yeah she's home schooled as well because she started homeschooling right when you know, Shardir Jitsu was starting to take off. She was in the animal and then she started getting fit like we showed up to the competitions and be like,
Starting point is 00:44:45 oh, the brother assisted, the Routolo sister, you're fighting, and she'd feel all this pressure, maybe extra cameras or whatever, she was like this little girl, you know what I mean? I think as young boys, you could still kind of handle it for a little girl to have that much pressure. How did she handle it? And she just, she started getting a little more burnt out
Starting point is 00:45:04 as far as she just wasn't as passionate about it. You could see it, and then you, you don't wanna handle it? And she just, she started getting a little more burnt out as far as she just wasn't as like passionate about it. And you could see it and then you, you don't want to force any modeling and becoming more of a girl and doing girl in here. You know, she's trying to find her shoes modeled for like Nike and Crocs and Uniclo and all these that proud of her, all these brands. She's just telling it.
Starting point is 00:45:19 It's classic because she always just wanted to do what we did in our whole lives, you know, just like serve, train, you know, like little mini us us and now she's like doing her own thing. Just starting to become her own little person. It's like for her to have 14, you know. She's been cheering so fast. Yeah, it's crazy. I remember when I was her age, we shared a flip phone, right?
Starting point is 00:45:36 A flip phone, we shared one. We were the only kids that you just do class with the flip phone. She's got this brand new iPhone. It's the iPhone is the same as her age. She's like an iPhone 14 or something. That's not supposed to work like that. I can't do that. That's the thing, this cannot happen.
Starting point is 00:45:52 What do you guys, do you think about the next 10 years of what you want to do? Do you want to keep competing? Do you want to keep winning? Take advantage of my prime and then just retreat to Costa Rica and just surf every day and stuff like that. Pretty much. You're surfing the night, though, it's scary, you're not even in your prime.
Starting point is 00:46:10 I mean, as long as you guys have been doing it, what, you probably 26 might start getting a little dicey, 27? Yeah, I'm dicey. I'm saying I'm dicey. You can keep your prime, probably being up to 30. No, blah, blah, blah, blah. Injitsu? Gordon Ryan's 28. You can keep your private private being your up to 30. No, Bubba, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no It's not like finally why not it's just different Because I think about makes martial arts. I feel like is there's so many Martial arts you can't master a Moitai boxing Jiu Jitsu. It's you know hardest to master Jiu Jitsu or to master at boxing
Starting point is 00:46:54 It won't just one alone and then to be able to mix them all together It's it's I always just talking to someone the other day I was like considering an extreme you talk about like extreme sports, you know I consider like surfing not really an extreme sport big I was like, considering it and you talk about like extreme sports, you know, I consider like surfing, not really an extreme sport, big wave surfing and extreme sport. When they're out there like, and then any one of those hardly die on any given moment,
Starting point is 00:47:12 you know, and it's like, I don't even fathom how they do that. You know, there's those wing-suiting guy, like there's some things that I like. Swirl suit, yeah. There's, I would never, you know what I mean? And then, I look at M and Man, I consider it like an extreme sport only because there's so many, I mean, I look at M and Man, I consider it like an extreme sport only because there's so many
Starting point is 00:47:26 I mean elbows. It's wild. There's so many ways to lose. It's wild. It's wild. You know, so you don't have anything even from the wake cuts guys Fuckin die from the wake cuz you know what I mean. There's a lot of variables that people aren't really aware of It's not something you've ever thought about right? No, Hunter and Tenshi has You do yeah, yeah, I've been training. Yeah. This is why I'm arguing with that is you're like, you guys are one of the few faces of Jiu-Jitsu. Like you guys are such tip of the spear. You're doing it just because it's the thing you wanna do.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Like, because you're, you've made it in Jiu-Jitsu. So I never understand like Mikey Meshamushi. Mesh-a-mesh-i. Mesh-a-mesh-i. Mesh-a-mesh-i. He was talking about MMA and I was just like, why though? Like why, man? Like you guys are these outliers and come over here,
Starting point is 00:48:12 you know, and Grant, do you guys give me damn good, but to be an outlier, it's gonna be a- I thought a lot of people would say that too. Like man, you guys have paid a lot of money for just one juicy fight, like why? Why get punched in the face, brother? It's fun, I love that. For Kate, it's something's fun. I love that.
Starting point is 00:48:25 For Kate, it's something to check off the bucket list. For us both, we both, we've not even checked off the bucket. Like, you know, I was just thinking about this time I recently too, is like, I was thinking about my, my, my lot, like, what do I want to be known for as far as like my legacy, you know, and I was thinking man, you could go try to win, you know, World's Six Times or ADCC Six Times or whatever, and I was thinking, I'm like, hey, I can do that, but like but I'm like, it would be super sick if I could,
Starting point is 00:48:46 you know, get a black belt word title in the key. It's already hard enough to get one no-guying key, you know, but if I could get one in the key, you know, I'm like, ADCC, Rural Champion, right? So if I could get the, you know, get a G-Rural Championship, an MMA Rural Championship, you know, get the one title, maybe, you know,
Starting point is 00:49:01 eventually whatever goes up there, UFC, whatever it may be, but just I just want to be able to secure titles in like MMA, jujitsu, wrestling, I've been working just a bit more boxing, I've been working a bit with parallel Jason for a reason, I love coach and the best one of them to ever do it, to ever do it. He's the man, nothing but legend. Where's he down down down? He's Rukurjian.
Starting point is 00:49:24 Yeah, yeah, exactly. That whole Ruka, John. Yeah, yeah, exactly. That whole Ruka thing's kind of been, it's been fizzled out. They're starting something new now. And it's the thing. Yeah, that's right. They shut down Ruka. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Some John bassin, within the, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Whatever, John, I'm within the brand. But basically Pattenoy, the founder of Ruka, the heart and soul of Ruka. He's not longer a part of it. He's doing his own new thing. That's cool. It's gonna be massive.
Starting point is 00:49:44 I think Prilo's gonna be a part of it. And's doing his own new thing and it's gonna be massive I think Prilo is gonna be a part of it and so yeah, are you picking up on do you feel like you're picking up on boxing? Quickly a hundred I mean I like to think so yeah sure I feel like You've been watching the human body move for a long time So I always say like you see a guy like you are a Romero is a freak athlete, but still guys who've been wrestling on a high level if you've been watching somebody's body move For that long. Yeah, you get a sense of space and distance. You get understanding of patterns and I mean we get watching all the UFC We're always a fan of fighting, you know what I mean? And then and so now that I just feel like that. I'm actually doing it
Starting point is 00:50:23 It was almost just like I put the last six months. I'm just like I just want to fight like I just feel like that I'm actually doing it. It was almost just like I put the last six months. I'm just like I just want to fight like I just want to do it It's I'm learning something new every single day I step in there and I'm a dick exciting. I'm addicted to that And you have a path with one championship too, right? Exactly, you know, and I feel like Kato was always like an easier conversion than he would take like a normal Jitsu guy because we even had like a solid six, seven years of Muay Thai growing up and you always knew how to throw so much more punch for years. It's so much pushing and pulling, you know, that's why none of these guys, you know, it's hard to have like snap to their punches and a lot of us.
Starting point is 00:50:56 So I feel like Kate actually has good snap on his punch. You know, he's he's making the conversion really well, you know, so yeah, I'm excited to see him. I mean, we grew up fighting each other every day without gloves like You know like all the time Would you guys marry? You guys married? All the time Like we were like as in like when you get mad at each other or just messing around
Starting point is 00:51:15 I remember when he got his first girlfriend and I don't know I we were talking shit You know, I think I'll just get jealous because you you was just hanging out with her all the time We were just so you know I was not surfing whatever I'm boy, I was gonna talk to you know I was talking shit. I think I'll just get jealous because you was just hanging out with her all the time. We were just like, no, I was not surfing, whatever. I was like, I'm bored. I was gonna talk to you, you know, I was talking shit to him or whatever. He got so pissed. I remember this one vividly.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Vividly, vividly. I remember that. We start scrapping, right? Whatever. I realize how much intensity he's coming at me with, right? So I do a little retreat to like one of the parents' bedroom and I like pinned myself in the back and he tackles me on the bed,
Starting point is 00:51:45 and I'm pinned in the corner, and he choking me with two hands. Like, I couldn't get him off, because I was pinned in the corner, and I'm like, I'm going out. And I'm tapping, but he's not letting go, you know, I'm like, oh, I'm gonna go out, I can't do it. And finally, he gave me this star here on the eyebrow, this one, not that gnarly, but like, it's definitely
Starting point is 00:52:02 up prevalent for sure. We've had our fair share. That's great, you dad, that nerdy, but like it's definitely not prevalent. Oh yeah, for sure. We've had our fair share. That's great, you dad, like, hey, what the fuck? Yeah, yeah, often. Yeah, we try not to do it in the family house. Like a 20 minute boxing match on the beach one day, we were just arguing in our apartment in San Diego, we're just like, I was, we got to, let's fight.
Starting point is 00:52:18 And we got our neighbors all around, right? So we're like, you can't do it, you know, you're like, not here, not here. So you put clothing, we're going to the car with each other. We're like, side by side, like, I'm a, I'm a, we're a, we're a, we're a, we you know, you're like not here, not here. You put clubs on top. We go into the bar with each other. We're like, signed by the side, like, I'm a, uh, that's horrible. We're up to the bottom here. I'm like, wait till I get it.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Yeah. That's rare for twins. It's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, it's all, get alpha. Yeah, you know, that's what it is. It's the alpha. Yeah. So even like when we do fight, like that boxing match on the beach, it was so even for 20 minutes. It was, it was, it was for 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:52:54 I'm like, get each other down there much or off. That was interesting. Like people always say, you know, if we could just all realize we're the same, it wouldn't make a difference. Like, you know how like two different cultures fight and stuff like that, two different religions. We could, I said this in my last special, I was like, we could all look like the same as penguins.
Starting point is 00:53:10 We'd find a reason to hate each other. We'd find a reason to fight. We'd just get you over there and I'm over here. Fuck you. Yeah, I know. It's our team. And after I understood, that's why I've been so disconnected from my phone recently, like the after understanding that
Starting point is 00:53:23 is I've just been so, and it's my manager hates me for it. You know, I'm like, what was I doing? Stop right here. I feel so much better than I be. Oh my gosh. You stopped, you stopped, you know, I did it on an accident. When I went to Costa Rica, this is probably like two years ago or something like three years ago, I went for a week
Starting point is 00:53:39 and I forgot my phone like on the way to the airport and my apartment and it was too late to turn back whatever I was like, I'm not gonna knock go though. So we went and I was like the first four days, I was like, you know, checking my phone on the way to the airport in my apartment and it was too late to turn back whatever. I was like, I'm not gonna knock, oh, though. So we went and I was like the first four days, I was like, you know, checking my phone. I was like, I don't know how to check. Yeah, I got your check, yeah. It felt like a withdraw.
Starting point is 00:53:52 I don't know, this is not good, you know? It's a night you just don't. And I went the whole week after the week, like the last six, whatever days it was, it was just like, I had completely forgotten about it and all of the stress in my life, like whatever stress I had, I realized it was only because of that. I had no stress in my life.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Yeah, zero stress, except for whatever would come on my device, you know. I was told people you know I'll make it when I don't have a cell phone. It'll be the first thing I get rid of. 100 and 10. As soon as something, some things I'm working on goes, your boys out.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Exactly. You have to come to my house, old school, knock. Yeah. I'm gonna have a ring phone. It's gonna sit. There's only so much good that comes from it. It really is. That's why guys, like you guys are in this world because you're like, there's so much just negative, like you just say it,
Starting point is 00:54:35 negativity, just negative news spread six times faster than positive, right? I love that. It's always just something negative. That's the way like, especially culture now now, that's the way we're conditioned. The algorithm promotes hate. Promotes like, they don't home much. Where if I post how great you guys are, it might get three or four likes,
Starting point is 00:54:52 but I post how horrible you are, it gets 500 lights. It's like, why has a society we like this, man? Yeah, Rogan was talking about this recently. He was saying, he's like, I don't think I wanna do, because there was somebody I wanna get a, I'm sorry. I don't know why Rogan has a phone. Well, I had his money. like, I don't think I wanna do, cause I was, there was somebody I wanted to get a, I'm sorry. I don't know why Rogan has a phone. Well, I had his money.
Starting point is 00:55:07 Yeah, I agree. I have no phone. Go on, go on. Go on. He said, he got so tired of the fucking negativity cause we were talking about some guy. I was like, I'm gonna have money podcasts and call him out on this shit and he goes,
Starting point is 00:55:19 yeah, I could, but I think I'm tired of all that. I don't think I wanna be negative anymore cause it doesn't do anything. And it's not gonna change him in his mind. He goes, I just wanna have people think I'm tired of all that. I don't think I want to be negative anymore, because it doesn't do anything. And it's not gonna change in my mind. It's just gonna have people that I'm fascinated. I want to have conversations that are interesting to me. And I want to just be positive. It's really interesting.
Starting point is 00:55:35 It's like, it's a way better way to live your life. Because are you really changing? I'm not minding what you said. It goes the greatness of a man. It doesn't measure on how much wealthy it requires, but his ability to affect those around him positively. 100%. That's like how you do.
Starting point is 00:55:47 100%. Communities. Communities, but you know, that's the other thing about when you get excellent at something, you're setting an example. That's why they took him down a really, a hard day down. I love that flip. It's a flip because you're rich man, it goes, what do you mean, rich? Do you have, you know, what do you mean, rich is, you know, cars and houses, you call that rich is, you know. It was a great thing because you guys like, yes, yes, yes, yes, most people do.
Starting point is 00:56:13 I was waiting for the bomb of a clad. That's why. That's why. The border you can bomb or you can bomb. Car that reaches. And you got that reaches. I need a lot of that. I need a lot of that. Root wood. Root wood.
Starting point is 00:56:30 I was a bit old though. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old.
Starting point is 00:56:38 I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I was a bit old. I listen to a lot of their music now. I've been getting to a lot of that afro music. It's so sick. It's very entertaining. I bet you do that on Coastal Rico.
Starting point is 00:56:47 Just doing the thing. Exactly. It's a real reggae. He's doing it right. I love the reason I'm a fashion artist. Yeah. You're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:56:56 Yeah, Bob Marley was talking about that. He was talking about how huge part of his childhood was going to bed hungry. For real hungry. Right. And then just got to a point where he had this real talent and felt like his dad was white, his dad was British, and his mother was Jamaican.
Starting point is 00:57:14 And he kind of felt like this composite man, he felt like he had a responsibility to kind of bring people together. The way he had been brought together almost, you know. It was really cool. Now, did he get shot? No, he had cancer, he got, you know? It was really cool. Now, did he get shot? No, he had cancer. He got a brain tumor.
Starting point is 00:57:28 He had a stomach. Yeah, he had a stomach. Yeah, he couldn't figure out why he was tired all the time. And then he would play soccer to try to get himself going. And then he just one day was like, this is not working, and he went to the doctor. And they were like, you got a glauoblastoma. So what's next for you boys?
Starting point is 00:57:45 What's coming up as far as judo wise, or one championship wise? Yeah, so I think one early, I think January 14th, there's two dates in January, two cards. I think we're both gonna be on, I don't know if we're both gonna be on one, both gonna be on one or the either, but definitely in January,
Starting point is 00:58:01 we're both gonna be on one event. Probably to judo too for those, and then following hopefully my MMA debut play. Yeah, do you put what weight to you? Uh, you guys that's been the one for MMA or Jitsu? Jitsu. Jitsu 170 and 185. Okay.
Starting point is 00:58:15 So my brother just cured the 185 times his last fight and then I've just been fighting that one. So you're a little thicker. Yes. Yeah, boy. Yeah. Wait, you look stronger. A little stronger. Yeah, yeah boy Wait, you look stronger a little stronger guaranteed
Starting point is 00:58:31 Probably a little bit surf from Manning a little I don't know about like a little off It's a different type of shit Is there a opponent for those yet have Have they talked about opponents? Nothing yet. I think nothing solidified yet. I think they're talking to some guys. I think we're really trying to see what happens at this next Noki Worlds, see what comes out on top.
Starting point is 00:58:54 Probably a Pedro Moreno. Yeah, you just called me out in that last one. Oh, it's it. Yeah, he's all psyched. That's great. I'm coming for you. It's all psyched. It's loud rather like, you know.
Starting point is 00:59:05 It's jammed. It's always somebody, right? There's always somebody. And then your goal, as you mentioned before, Gordon Ryan, that would have, what would we have to do to make that happen? Because it wouldn't be in one championship, right? Because he's not a one-champ-shap guy.
Starting point is 00:59:17 He was signed a one. He was for a while. Yeah, and then I don't know how, I think I never really understood why he never fought for one, but it then occurred to me that there was drug testing for one. God, I... I didn't even know.
Starting point is 00:59:31 Yeah, that occurred to me. Now, you want to really, it was piece of Ryan, like Gordon, when he's saucy and he's 235, he's also tall, he's also tall. He's big guy. I mean, you can, that's the, the people don't really realize how strong that matters physically Rook lot of Luke Rockle tell me that he goes they're strong and that's a Gordon Ryan
Starting point is 00:59:53 That's how you want them though, right? Like you don't want a like an older good Ryan He's gonna be in his prime for the next couple years. Yeah, yeah, he's funny. He's done this So great he posted the thing we shaped this beard he goes I'm Gordon Ryan and I'm 28 years old Yeah, I'm not he was looking old with that beard. Oh, yeah, you know, he's still good guys is white You know, he looks yeah for sure, but oh boys. We appreciate man your brother fresh here Boys, we appreciate man, your brother fresh here man. You guys were fucking super stars. I was the only one. Yeah, he is so great.
Starting point is 01:00:26 I'm glad to hear the best. The first thing Brad said is you guys, these guys have the best energy that he plays. Okay, he's great. Yeah, he does look like a young. It's unreal. That's classic. That's actually Jack.
Starting point is 01:00:38 He is Jacked. Yeah, he is. He looked like us before he gained like 60 pounds. Yeah, I look on there, right? Well, that's a good, like, I love the exposure. That was after him being super. Yeah. That's, that shit, whatever's going on there, that's, that's trend or something.
Starting point is 01:00:55 That's some of that bodybuilding steroid on. That's like everything and anything, yeah. My boys jacked. All right, guys, we appreciate you guys man so much. You can't thank you enough. Thank you so much. Thank you guys, guys. All right, nice to meet you guys man so much. You guys are awesome. Thank you guys. Thank you guys guys.
