Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Tony and Ryan podcast. My name is Ryan. This is Dr. Author Tony Lodge. Sorry, we're interrupting you, mate. Sorry, I just had a mouthful of smoothie. That's okay. No, you go. No, it's all right. I'll work. We're about to call Bianca and you and Bianca have something in common. Bianca. I love that name. In Wollongong, New South Wales. The gong. Hello? Hello?
Starting point is 00:00:30 Bianca! It's Tony and Ryan. How are you doing? I'm good. How are you? Very well. Good. What are you up to? Where are you?
Starting point is 00:00:37 I'm just laying in my bed with my kids having some morning cuddles, actually. That's so nice. Isn't that nice? I was just telling Tony. I didn't say specifically, but I said to Tony, you and Bianca have something in common. So, Bianca, where is it that you work? I work at Coles in the deli.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Oh, yeah. An OG. Yeah. Oh, and how's that suppressor going? Good rate per kilo at the moment? Yeah, good. It's actually on special this week, I believe. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Get on in. Have you been audited recently? Actually, we had the food inspector in the other day, but I wasn't there, so that was excellent. Oh, thank God. Because if you were getting audited, you had to do everything perfectly. You couldn't do anything. Really? You couldn't have your phone in there.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Is that why they do the audits when Bianca's away? Yeah. They go, Bianca's off. Bianca's not into the past. Yeah, today's the day. 100%. Well, Bianca, from one Coles Deli queen to another, will you approve today's episode?
Starting point is 00:01:38 Absolutely. There it is. Hey, it's Bianca from the Coles Deli and I approve this podcast. Take the compliment, you fucking asshole. Welcome to the show. And we're leaving that in. Okay. Well, take the compliment, you fucking asshole.
Starting point is 00:02:07 I just said something hilarious and Tony said I was very funny. Yeah, and he went, no, I wasn't. Don't talk to me. You do do that. That's okay. We're working on it. We're just working through it. I've had a drama.
Starting point is 00:02:18 Yeah, are you okay, mate? Nah. I'm all upside down and topsy-turvy. Would you say flapped? I am quite flapped. I've spent the night in the hospital. Yep. We'll get to that.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Is everything okay? Well, I mean, I've been in the hospital, but no, I'm okay. Okay. Just had to come into work today. I was going to say, do you need to take the day off? No, I just could have pulled through for the tapas. A single mother works two jobs. Her love's a tapas and never stops. You don't ever stop.
Starting point is 00:02:49 No. You do love the tapas. Sometimes I should stop, but I don't. First, though, episode two of Things That Keep You Up At Night. Things That Keep You Up At Night. I love this. And I think everyone's got something that they've done once or they've said once and then years later they'll go.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Or it pings, your eyes ping awake in the night and you go, that happened. I can't believe I did that. Yeah. Louini, Louini on Instagram is their name. That's me. That's my burner account. Let's just call her Louine.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Lou. Because I can't, because when you go Instagram handles, it could be anything. It could be, yeah, yeah, yeah. Louine says, I was working as a receptionist and we had a no-show, so what you do is you call them and go, oh, he didn't come. Do you need to reschedule? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Or you go, oh, I'm so sorry, but you have to pay for the appointment still. Take their credit card over the phone. The daughter answers and goes, oh, yeah, my mum just died. Ha. Ha. Hang on. Was the appointment for the mother? Yeah. Imagine if she was lying. Like, oh, well, she doesn't want to pay the other 25% of the appointment.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Oh, she died. She died. Yeah. Sorry about that. Like, what are you going to do, ask for a death certificate? Like you probably just go, oh, okay, hang up. Well. My condolences.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Louine said it just came out of nowhere. I wasn't expecting it. And so I go, oh, I'm sorry to hear that. So did you want me to reschedule? And the daughter just goes, no. And she goes, okay, well, have a great day. Years later, I still feel awful and I will forever be sorry to the daughter. She obviously wasn't having an awesome day.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Yeah. And I cannot stop thinking about it. Something that I will say for Louine right now, that daughter does not fucking remember that. Yeah. No fucking way. Because there's so much other shit going on. She just would not even remember that phone call happened.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Louie, if that helps you sleep tonight, like there's no way she remembers. And I know that it's one of those things like when you go and you're like, oh, I want to go get my bikini line waxed. And you go, oh, I bet you they lie awake thinking about my vagina because it's so weird. And they go, oh, all those pussies roll together. Yeah, they're all the same pussy. Like I could not pick you out of, like it's my job and I just am.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Couldn't pick your pussy out of a row of them. Yeah, and I've always said that. Do you know? But you know how you get yourself worked up and they go, oh, I see that many assholes a day. Yeah. There's just, I could not distinguish any of them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:27 There's no way that daughter remembers that. Do you think you've got a distinguishable asshole? I've never seen it. It's the trouble where it's located. Because it's right up there. Out the back. Yeah. Were there people who accidentally like mentioned something like,
Starting point is 00:05:42 oh, how's your mum? And they go, oh. Yeah. Or like, and again, they would freak out for the rest of the week but it just sort of happens. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And it's like because they're learning but I'm also learning.
Starting point is 00:05:53 So then when people go like, oh, and I go, oh, yeah, like she's dead. Like you actually forget. I still do it. Yeah, right. Like if something really good happens, I go, I'll call mum. And then I go, oh, no, like obviously not. And then I call my sister or Torbs or you. And like it's fine.
Starting point is 00:06:08 Oh, so I was just like second choice. Of my sister, my boyfriend and you, I think top three is pretty good. Oh, no, I meant after your mum. Oh, yeah. You're like, oh, I'll call Ryan. And then you go, oh, no, I'll call my mum. No, I'll just call Ryan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:24 But, yeah, there's no way she remembers. Because I was like a dumb teenage boy at one stage. You know how teenage boys all go through that stage of like your mum jokes? Oh, yep. And then be like, oh, your mum. Yeah. Which is like the comeback for everything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Like I think I said that to my mate Cal like three weeks after his mum died. And I went, oh, yeah, sorry. Yeah, sorry. And he's going, oh, yeah, sorry. Yeah, sorry. And he's going, oh, yeah, like. One of the, like, jokes that we had in our uni group was, like, get mum. Like, it was, like, the equivalent of, like, I need an adult. Like, you know, when you just, oh, fuck, I fucking need an adult. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Everyone would be like, oh, get mum. Like, we need our mum. Like, you know, and then my mum died and I went back to uni and everyone went, get my wallet from the car. Joe Piper. You're about to say Joe Biden. Joe Biden's message through. He's a big tarper.
Starting point is 00:07:17 There's actually a reply to the above story and we've had a similar story before. But my co-worker says to a lady, hi, ma'am, how are you doing today? When they came into the store and she goes, oh, not very well. I lost my father over the weekend. And he knew what he was doing, having no filter and stopping it. Nothing in the pursuit of comedy said, well, he'll turn up eventually. He said it landed though.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Oh, nice. I laughed, the guy laughed, and the lady pissed herself laughing. I like that. I laughed, the guy laughed and the lady pissed herself laughing. I like that. I mean, that's a risk. It is a risk because you just don't, like I would laugh at that. Yeah. Like if I was in a shop and I was like, I lost my mum. Oh, where is she?
Starting point is 00:07:57 Yeah, like I'd laugh at that. Stacey on TikTok. Hi, Stacey. Called to get a window replaced and the the tradie goes oh just thursday work and stacy said instead of saying hold on a minute or give me a second i said oh can you hold me for a minute oh that's actually quite nice that sounds lovely they're together now married three kids uh she said he just went silent for like five or ten seconds. And even though it was months ago, said Stacey,
Starting point is 00:08:29 I still think about this daily. That is so embarrassing. And it's the old classic that we've mentioned so many times, but it's like the Uber Eats guy says, enjoy your food, you go, you too. Like, enjoy your movie, you too. Well, they're not watching it. Yeah. Classic.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Monday I got a coffee from Eddie's down the road. Nice guy, Eddie. And just – but when I've been in there really early in the morning, there's sometimes just one person. So we're like the only two people there. Yeah. And so they're doing the – and you kind of, oh, how was your weekend? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Classic Bants. Yeah. And they go, oh, yeah, family came over. We all watched the football together. Nice. And wanting to say good or cool. Gruel. Guel.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Guel. Eddie's like, what? And I was like, what? And you're like, who said that? Do you have a ghost in here, Eddie? So this similar like, what did you call it? Just mashing of words. Your brain can't decide between the two.
Starting point is 00:09:19 It's called a spoonerism. A spoonerism. If you said like Roni and Tyen, that's a spoonerism. Well, this happened to Nico Fiasco who works in the Dali. Nico Fiasco. Is Nico related to Alex Fiasco? I checked that. I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Okay. Because we met Alex Fiasco. We have met Alex Fiasco and Nico was not in sight. Nico Fiasco works at the Dali and he was, you know, slicing the meats. Nice. But not well. Yeah. Back on the tools.
Starting point is 00:09:49 It's like I'm there. Take me back, you know. Oh, the good old days. I need to concentrate. Sorry. Because this is fucked. I used to have to concentrate in the deli. A lot of things going on.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Chicken's coming off. Coming off what? Like coming off. Like we'd be like oh yeah chickens off yeah oh you sound like a damn good saying that chickens off yeah chickens are off 84 can someone get the chooks yeah i'll just be with you in a moment i'll just got to get these chooks off yeah there was no chickens just say say it. Buy you a minute. Sit under the table for a second. I'm running off my feet, Dal. There's no Twiggy Sticks left, unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:10:32 We're out of Pelloni. We're out of Pelloni, Twiggy Sticks and Feta and Tony's just sitting under the counter just puffing them down. Eating the chickens that have just finished cooking. Sorry. I would normally say either how do you want it? Slic say either, how do you want it? Sliced? Or how do you want it?
Starting point is 00:10:49 Cut? My mind matched them together and I said, how do you want it? Slut? I mixed slice and cut up in my mind and I've thought about this every night for the last three years. How do you want it, slut? That is a fiasco. Fiasco in the valley.
Starting point is 00:11:24 How do you want it, slut? That is so fucking funny. Also, Nico, from what I can tell, is like a quiet, calm, nice guy. He's just not, like, that's not something he'd be rolling. He didn't, like, roll off the tongue of like, oh, how do you want it, slut? You want it, slut? You know, yeah. Mortified.
Starting point is 00:11:44 It was probably a little old lady. She went, what? Probably killed her. She was late for her appointment. Hey, it's Bianca from Wollongong and you're listening to Tony and Ryan. A massive shout out to a few of our champion tapas over at our Patreon. That's Champion Tapas, Tony and Ryan Podcast. Lauren B, good on you, Loz.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Macy Kissick, sorry. That was a lot. Sorry, I just thought it's the slut. Yeah, it's got you revved up. Darcy Lilly. Good on you, Darcy. Bianca Smith. Love you, Bianca.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Thank you so much. And Megan Mulrhyne. We love to see it. Thank you guys so much for being part of our Patreon. Love to see it. Makes our life. Yeah. Also, you can check out on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:12:44 On our YouTube channel, it's not stuff from the podcast. It's always a little bit different. Different stuff. So there's a few extra Angela White bits on there as well, as well as reaction video. So go and check out. Just search for Tony and Ryan on YouTube. You'll see us there. It'll pop right up.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Yep. Maybe fourth or fifth one down, but we're to be in there. We're the top Tony and Ryan on YouTube. I'll take that. I'm not even the top Tony Lodge on Facebook. There's 20 others. We're not the top Tony. We're not the top Ryan, but we are the top Tony and Ryan. Yeah. There's 20 others. We're not the top Tony. We're not the top Ryan.
Starting point is 00:13:05 But we are the top Tony and Ryan. Yeah. You have to type the whole thing in though. You know when sometimes you type it in and it pops right up. You go, ooh. Sorry, I'm a bit frazzled today because. How are you doing, mate? We've been in the ER.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Who's we? Oh, no, that's CSI. Yeah. No, NCIS. Lauren. What am I thinking? What's the ER theme? ER.
Starting point is 00:13:33 No, that's X-Files. That's X-Files. Oh, I've got something funny to tell everyone. Oh, what is it? Tony Lodge got busted in the office singing Kung Fu Fighting the other day. Oh. I did that. Oh, and Ryan went, why are you singing that?
Starting point is 00:13:50 Why are you singing Kung Fu Fighting? Do you go, oh, Taylor Swift's song. Kung Fu Panda 4 just came out. What did you claim you were singing? No, I was singing a part of the song Ivy by Taylor Swift. And there's like. And she sings Kung Fu Fighting. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:14:05 There's a part of that where she goes, oh, god damn. And it sounded – and then as soon as she said it, I was like, it did sound like that but that's not what I was doing. Anyway. I think she's a Kung Fu Fighting fan. I'm going to say that three times faster than the Kung Fu Fighters. She loves Kung Fu Panda. She's a big Jack Black fan. Yeah, who's not?
Starting point is 00:14:18 And the Cee Lo Green cover, which we've listened to about 97 times since this happened, which is really getting our days going at the moment. If you need to pick me up, maybe this should be my You Love To See It today, but if you need to pick me up, pop that on because it's very good. Anyway. Are we allowed to play that because of like? No, no. Do you want to share the voice memo I sent you yesterday?
Starting point is 00:14:38 Oh, actually, yeah, this is much better. I don't think that you even knew how to do a voice note because we aren't big voice note people. I sent my first ever voice note to Tony yesterday and this is what it sounded like. Ho, ho, ho, ho. Do, do, do, do, do, do. Ho, ho, ho, ho.
Starting point is 00:15:00 That was at 6pm last night. I was walking with Mabel and I was singing it out loud. I got a message. I got to send this to Tony. You should sell that as ringtones. Oh, we should actually. Monophonic, polyphonic, text Kung Fu Panda 4 to 1-800-TONY-AND-ROCK. That won't get you anywhere, by the way.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Don't do that. We don't know where that's going to take you. Someone just made a lot of money. It's not us, though. Anyway, so Torbs and I were in the emergency room last night. Oh, yeah, sorry. Yeah. So I mentioned, well, I mentioned the other day
Starting point is 00:15:33 that he like really hurt his toe. I told this story on Monday. He hurt his toe on Saturday night. And I was like, do you want to go to the hospital? And he was like, no, no, no, I think it's fine. Wasn't fine. There's been a bit of a turn in the toe. Is it still attached?
Starting point is 00:15:50 It's still attached. Still attached. But late at night he's kind of like, oh, it's getting really hot. Like I think it's a bit infected. And I was like, okay, all right, like let's just go. And so you know how like urgent care is different to the ER? it's a bit infected. And I was like, okay, all right, like let's just go. And so you know how like urgent care is different to the ER? No.
Starting point is 00:16:13 So there's like, you know how there's like an after hours GP or whatever, but then there's urgent care, which is like apparently not. So this is not at a hospital. No, no, no. Hang on. So there's a different thing called urgent care. And we were like, oh, we'll go there instead of the ER because obviously like this isn't and like it needs to be seen to today. But it's not an emergency.
Starting point is 00:16:33 I don't really want to go to the emergency room and like take up a bed that someone might need but also you have to wait for ages if it isn't an emergency. Yeah, they try it and they go, oh, okay, it's only a level four so just sit over there. Yeah, so you just sit there for hours and whatever. Anyway, we called the urgent care and they go, oh, okay, it's only a level four, so just sit over there. Yeah, so you just sit there for hours and whatever. Anyway, we called the urgent care and they go, oh, we don't take walk-ins until after 11pm or something
Starting point is 00:16:50 and we don't have any bookings. And I was like, oh, and it was like 7 o'clock or something. So do I just go to KFC and wait here for four hours? Well, like what's the, yeah, what's the go? And they go, yeah, yeah, so you can't actually just like do a walk-in until, and I was like, what is the, anyway, so we ended up at the John Faulkner emergency room. Oh, shout out to Moreland.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Yeah. Great basketball court down the end of the street there. We actually had to Google the nearest hospital because we've not long moved. Moved to the countryside. To our countryside. And so we were like, fuck, I don't even know where the – like I don't even know where the fucking closest hospital is. Anyway, so we get to the hospital and Torbs is like limping through the hospital,
Starting point is 00:17:30 like can't walk properly, like poor guy. Anyway, and like do you remember when your wife Bridget was pregnant and lots of people would like say to her, oh, well, when I gave birth, it was the worst thing ever. Yeah, don't tell me about it. And you're like, can you actually not do that? Don't freak me the fuck out. We're sitting in the emergency room and it wasn't very busy.
Starting point is 00:17:53 There was like a handful of other people waiting, like four groups of people, like people that were like, had their mum and dad with them and, you know, husband and wife, whatever. And one of the girls is like chatting about what's wrong with her. She's like not feeling too flash. And she goes, oh, this hospital is really nice. Like you guys are so lucky that you came here because I went to this other hospital the other night and they like didn't really look
Starting point is 00:18:17 after me very well. And like Torbs and I were like, oh, my God, like hope you're okay, mate. And then this other woman chimes in and goes, what did they do? And I'm like, fuck, we're going to get some juicy gossip here. This is great. Not what I would ask. Let me bring the microphones over. This could be an episode.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Well, it is apparently. Here we are. It's like, okay. And then so she's like, oh, what did they do? She goes, oh, someone tried to take blood and they'd like miss the vein or, you know, when they can't find a vein and you get like a big bruise. Yeah, they're prodding around looking for a spot. And like she's sitting there and she looks a bit worse for wear.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Like she's there with her mum and dad and she was young. She was probably like 18. Yeah. And she's got this big bruise on her arm, like poor bitch. Yeah. And this woman goes, oh, that happened to me once. It was like that for three years. What?
Starting point is 00:19:10 And I'm like this poor, and I'm like, I'll have to act immediately. Oh, that's like a one in a thousand, you'll be fine. And I go, oh, but don't worry, yours won't be like that. We don't know that. No, but I'm just trying to make this. You are a doctor, but maybe in a medical setting, maybe leave. Maybe not. And I'm like trying to lighten the mood and I'm like, oh, but don't worry.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Yours will be fine. Trying to lighten the mood? You're in an emergency room. Did you do a tight fight? So the least I can fucking do. Hey, guys, how about that? Airplane food. No, so literally the least.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Ladies and gentlemen, Tony Lodge. So this girl is fucking terrified. Yeah. And this woman. Is freaking her out. Has just been like, oh, that happened to me once and it was like the three years, had the bruise there for three years and the scars only just gone away kind of vibe.
Starting point is 00:19:51 And I was like, oh, yeah, but don't worry, like, you'll be okay. And she looks at me and she's like, oh, like, yeah, hope not. And then the woman goes, well, I'm just saying what happened to me. And I was like, you, and so might I add that the woman who said. Had anyone asked what happened to her? And the woman that said that, she wasn't there for her. Like she was there with her mother-in-law. What are you, go home, man.
Starting point is 00:20:13 So there was just like four of them and they were like fine and nice, whatever. Doesn't sound like it. But the way that she went like, oh, well, yeah, I've had that and it was really bad. I'm like, don't tell people, like just go, oh, fuck, sweetheart. I hope that you're feeling better. She was young as well, you know.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Anyway, and so, and like, fucked my joke too a bit. Like, because I was like, oh, but that won't happen to you. She's like, well, I'm just saying what happened to me. I'm like, oh, no, just laugh at my joke. Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on. Are you more annoyed that this lady was freaking the girl out or are you more annoyed that she's like interrupting the Tony Lodge show? It was a two for one.
Starting point is 00:20:52 So the reason I made the joke. Well, no, lost us. Yeah. The reason I made the joke was because I was like, oh, but like you'll be okay. Like to kind of like call the woman out and be like, shut up. Yeah. And then when she goes, well, no, like that's just, and I'm like, oh, yeah,
Starting point is 00:21:05 no one asked. Just like no one asked me, but I've decided to add my fucking two cents to try and make this girl feel better. Anyway, so that's kind of going on and then we end up getting called through. Yeah. And Torb's like, bless him, he had to go out for an X-ray. We go and do that and then we have to come back down and then we're waiting for the thing.
Starting point is 00:21:22 And they were great there, honestly, like really, really, they're actually quite quick and we end up, we get a bed and we go through and we're just like sitting in the bed, like in a capsule. Yeah. One of the, like, yeah, one of the, like one of the ward beds. Yeah. They just string up like a curtain in between.
Starting point is 00:21:41 It's like just a curtain in between. Anyway. So you tried it on? So we're like, we can hear what's going on with everybody and they're like, oh, ma'am, like, yeah, we'll give you this pill. And she goes, no, I don't like that. And I'm like, oh, like, fuck. Like it's rough being a nurse and a doctor on the ER.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Like I just don't know how they do it. It must be tough for you guys. No, no, no. I'm saying like it must be really fucked and I'm like decide in that moment. I'm like, you know what? I'm not going to do any medical comedy. For the first time in my life I'm like going to stray away
Starting point is 00:22:13 from this because I've been a victim that many times. Yep. I can't do it to myself again. I can't do it to yourself. What about them? No, and I'm like let's not waste any time. They're busy. I've already done a tight five in the waiting room yeah i tried that on out there did not work and then
Starting point is 00:22:28 and then also because like tobs this thing wasn't really like it was it needed to be looked at that night yeah but it wasn't life or death but it wasn't life or death so i'm like all right let's just get in get out fast game's a good game let's let these people do like their actual job this is the ryan approach to life yeah um not way. So I hope this story goes well. Anyway, so the doctor comes in and he's like, oh, yeah, oh, mate. Like he's like the most ochre doctor I've ever seen. He's like, fuck, you've taken a bit of bark off there, mate. Like the skin on his toe.
Starting point is 00:22:57 And I was like, that's amazing. And I'm like, no jokes. Well, you don't need to bring him. He's bringing the gold apparently. And so I'm sitting here and I'm like, but he was quite serious. But he was like, just the way that he was chatting, he's like, I was like, okay, you're in and you're out. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:23:12 He's like, no shoes and socks for five weeks. Five weeks? Five or six weeks, no shoes and socks. Holy shit. So he's got like an actual doctor's note, like no sport for like two months. Oh, cancel all the sport he had planned. No, well, because he just paid for it. Oh, the surfing.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Yeah, so say sorry. Say sorry. I'm looking down the barrel. Torbs, heir to the Toblerone fortune. I'm sorry because I actually did know that you had booked in multiple urban surf trips. Well, it's like the five-week thing. Five-week thing.
Starting point is 00:23:43 And so it's like $400 or $500. So I was like we actually need a thing so we can hopefully get the money back so we can reschedule, like join a different group or whatever. But four or five weeks with no socks. That's fucking ages. Is he going to work from home? Well, I'm not really sure. Is he going to go in with one shoe and one sock into his workplace,
Starting point is 00:24:00 into an IT company? I actually don't know. Because then he'll be lopsided. Yeah. He'll come back with a lean. Yeah. So I don't really know that we're trying to figure out the logistics of all of that at the moment. But anyway, yeah. So no shoes and socks. So he's like, isn't that just a ripe area for medical comedy though, Tony? Well, yeah. So they're like, they're like, oh, all this stuff. And I was like, will we be able to get a doctor's night? Can we
Starting point is 00:24:22 get some more, like, you know, can you tell us how to dress it? And he goes, yep, one of the nurses will come in and dress it for you and they will explain, like, how to look after it at home. And, like, Torbs is laying there in so much pain. Like, I just felt so fucking bad for him. They put him on a drip? No, he wasn't on a drip. Did he ask? No, no.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Where are them whistles at? They were like, oh, do you need any painkillers? Torbs was like, oh, I had some Nurofen before. I'm like, do you need any painkillers? I was like, oh, I had some Nurofen before. I'm like, do you need any painkillers? And he was like. Bro, you're in a hospital, dog. And he was like, oh, no, no. Like, because he didn't want to make a farce.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Anyway, and then so we're lying there and then this nurse comes through. His name's Romeo. Romeo. The best guy I've ever met. Really? In my life. And he comes in. No offence, everyone else.
Starting point is 00:25:04 He's like, hi, I'm Romeo. Like, I'll be taking care of you. Like, and then he looks over at Torbs as Tony goes, oh, that's like really bad. And Torbs is like, yeah. And he goes, what's the pain on the level of blah, blah, blah? Like, and they're having their convo and I'm like, all right, sit tight, Tony.
Starting point is 00:25:18 No jokes. And then he's like, fuck, that's really rough, bro. Like, how are you feeling? He goes, it's really sore. And he goes, okay, well, I'm going to clean it up for you. Let me go grab my stuff. He goes out and five minutes later he comes back and he's got this little like medipack thing and it's got like all
Starting point is 00:25:33 of this like what's the word, like antiseptic stuff. Yeah, yep. Because there was like a bit of like gravel and soil and stuff in the cut from like being outside. And it was really a little bit so they had to like, sorry, this is a bit yucky, but like so they had to like clean all that out and then actually clean up the thing too. And he comes back in and he goes, ooh, got the stuff.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Like Romeo walks back in. He goes, and Torb's like, I'm inside. Like this really hurts. And he goes, hmm, it's going to hurt more in a minute. And he's like being really nice about it. But Torbs is like, he's like, brace yourself, sweetheart, kind of thing. Torbs is like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:26:10 He pours the antiseptic into the thing. He goes, okay. And then he like gets a gauze and he squeezes that onto the thing and he's like, this is going to really hurt. Torbs goes, yep. And I said, do you want to hold my hand? He said, I think I'll break it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Like I can't. So he's like holding onto the sides of the bed and he's in so much pain. His fucking face is scrunched up. And this guy squeezes this antiseptic onto this open fucking wound. Half of his toe's fucking fallen off. Yeah. And he goes, and Romeo goes, just give you a little pedicure. How did Torbs is laying there fucking nine out of ten pain
Starting point is 00:26:51 because it's like onto this open fucking thing. And he goes, oh, just a little pedicure. And I start laughing. Tony. No, because he was trying to ease the mood. Hang on, is your laugh because it's funny or it's like I'm trying to be sympathetic to the comedian in the room? It was kind of all of them, but I'm also like, oh, but are you okay?
Starting point is 00:27:08 But that was really funny but I'm like, you're doing gear and I've decided I'm taking myself out of the running for comedian of the year for this hotel room, hospital room. I'm sorry, that's a different story. Sounds like a hotel. I'm bringing room service. Anyway, so he's like, squeeze this thing and he starts like cleaning it up and he goes, oh, yeah, like what colour nail polish do you want?
Starting point is 00:27:27 So he kept going with the joke. He's like, do the joke. Oh, bro. And Torbs is like. No, because this is what you do. You sympathy laugh and they go, she's loving it. She's liking this. I've got to keep going.
Starting point is 00:27:38 But it was actually. I've seen this play out for hours on end when Tony's being too polite. Yeah. And I'm like, stop gassing them. Oh, tell me more. Yeah, at the bank. Yeah. Oh, my God. Cleant being too polite. Yeah. And I'm like, stop gassing them. Oh, tell me more. Yeah. At the bank. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:46 Oh, my God. Cleaped from the bank. Yeah. Anyway, so Romeo's like, he's doing a bit of gear and he's like, all right. And then he's explaining what he's doing. He's like, cool, so now just do this. And he's like dressing it. And then Torbs is kind of like, oh, okay, like the pain, it's now dressed.
Starting point is 00:28:02 So there's a bit of pressure on it. So it's not hurting as much. Like the pain, it's now dressed so there's a bit of pressure on it so it's not hurting as much. And Tobs is like, oh, like God, like can't believe I paid for this pedicure. And I'm like. Tobs. Medical.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Oh, my God. And then how did Mario respond? And then Romeo goes, I'll do your hair next time. Walks out. Walks out. Jaunts out, sorry. Takes the high road. Takes the out. Takess out. Jaunts out, sorry. Takes the high road. Takes the out.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Takes the out. Jaunts out. And he goes, oh, Dr. Nelson will be back to explain how to, like, deal with this at home and stuff. And he goes, yeah, I'll do your hair next time. Walks out. And I was like, jaw on the floor. It was amazing.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Romeo. And Torb's got in on the action. Torb's got in on the action. And you know what? Watching the comedy was really special. Was it? Really beautiful. Was it?
Starting point is 00:28:48 Yeah, I'm normally part of it or trying to be part of it, but just sitting back was really nice. How did it feel to watch a two-man comedy show when three people are in the room and you're the third? I enjoyed it. I paid the $450 to be at the private hospital. Best ticket in the house, best seat in the house. I'm on that little chair, the visitor chair.
Starting point is 00:29:05 I think I'm going to ask the question that many people are thinking. Great. Please. That's your job. When... Be the voice of the people. Can we buy tickets to the Romeo and Torp show? Because it sounds like this show needs to go on the road.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Should they go to Fringe or something? Yeah. It's very good. Adelaide Fringe is still on. Melbourne Comedy Festival coming up. Coming up. But it was like. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Is medical comedy back? Well, I don't. Maybe I'm just not good at it. No, I can't. Thank you for saying that. I was fishing for that. But, yeah, so it was really nice, though, and it was very funny. Like, it was actually very, very funny.
Starting point is 00:29:45 So if you need to go to the hospital, I would go to John Faulkner Emergency and ask for Romeo. Okay, now here's the thing. I know we've got some crossed wires with hotels and hospitals. Yeah. So with hotels you can choose one and make recommendations. I don't think you're like sitting there going, which hospital should we go to this weekend?
Starting point is 00:30:03 I've heard good things. Yeah, no, and you shouldn't obviously take up room in a hospital if you don't think you're like sitting there going, which hospital should we go to this weekend? I've heard good things. Yeah, no, and you shouldn't obviously take up room in a hospital if you don't need to. So don't fake an injury. Can you request a nurse? No, I don't think so. And especially when they're busy, I think it's just like whoever's free after the handover is like whatever.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Amazingly amazing. He was wonderful though. He was like such a good nurse, took really good care of Torbs and it was nice that he cared enough to like ease the. So Torbs doesn't know if he's going back to work yet though? No, so he's working from home today. Yeah. And, yeah, like I think he's just going to vibe it out
Starting point is 00:30:33 and see if his boss is like, oh, just do it from home. That might be a bit easier for right now because he's walking around with like limping on a Birkenstock. Can I? Fuck. You know what I mean? That's the name of today's episode, limping on a Birkenstock. I was literally just about to say, can I buy him a pair of Birkenstocks?
Starting point is 00:30:48 That's really sweet. I went out and bought him some. Oh. Because, no, like on Sunday. A tour was there from both of us. Because the thing happened in thongs and I was like, throw the thongs out. Yeah. Like throw the flip flops out in case you're in America.
Starting point is 00:31:00 It wasn't G-Stream. You need a closed toe. Yeah, you need something that's going to be sturdy and hang on for dear life. So, yeah, I bought him some Berkeys. Did you go to the store at Clifton Hill? It was closed. Yeah, no, I didn't go there. I went to a store in Fitzroy.
Starting point is 00:31:13 It's still nice. It was very cool, yeah. Anyway. Yeah. And let us all pray for tops. Yeah, pray for the toes. Today's You Love to See brought to you by Hubble. Woo-hoo. Our good friends at Hubble. Fusing Australia's favourite streaming
Starting point is 00:31:28 apps, TV channels and sporting to a single experience. Visit hubble.com.au for more. Now, last week we had Angela White on the show. Yep. Oh, love to see that. We've been a fan of Angela White because Tony's been a dot com rad. Yes. What was that comment you read earlier? That we went from
Starting point is 00:31:44 dot com rads to dot com rads. Very clever was that comment you read earlier? That we went from dot comrades to dot comrades. Very clever. Very funny. Cass in the episode thread wrote, I have never heard of her, but by tonight my browser history will have. Oh, you do love to see that. That's very good. But my love to see it is Mike here has written,
Starting point is 00:32:02 is there a video episode of this one as well? Oh. And then there's a reply from Mike's wife because they're both tappers. Hot. And they're like, yeah, don't worry, sweetheart, I already got it open. Well, I saw that he goes, oh, this is Mike's wife. And I went, oh, he's in trouble.
Starting point is 00:32:20 Because, you know, it's probably like a bit of banter though between, oh, no, don't, you know. His wife, Tracy, goes, i was thinking the same thing and then i was like oh someone else already asked because you know someone else asked the same thing and then he goes she goes oh that's my husband what a perfect couple the perfect couple now i did say now that's actually mike white and tracy white are they angela's brother and sister? Yeah, I was like, can I check? And then Tracy replies and goes, no, I'm married into this family. All good.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Oh, safe. Don't know what that means for Mike, though. He's still not sure. Hey, that's okay. White sounds like a pretty common last name. Yeah, it does. But you can check that out on YouTube. It's different to the podcast episode because there's a few in the bedrooms.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Yeah. With a porn star. Nice, spicy one. Yeah. You do love to see that. I'd love to see that. I'd love to see that. Mike and Tracy, what legends. And getting amongst the episode thread as well.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Yep. That's awesome. My love to see it, Sophie J shared this in our You Love To See It thread in our Facebook group. Yep. And she posted this a little while ago, but I just want to share it because I saw it and I was like, this is just...
Starting point is 00:33:22 Beautiful. The epitome of You Love love to say it, I think. My amazing 14-year-old kiddo was recognised as the One to Watch recipient for the New South Wales Women of the Year Awards. Holy shit. We've had a really tough time and they've recently had to move their daughter, Abby, quite far away from them to a different school because of really bad homophobia and bullying
Starting point is 00:33:45 that she was experiencing at her school, which is just fucking awful. But, like, how good that you're in a position to be able to move schools. But today, Abby was recognised for the work she's done in advocating for the LGBTQIA plus community through the project she started. And I reckon you've heard of this, the Rainbow Shoelace Project.
Starting point is 00:34:02 I do know that. And so they sell the pride flag beads to pop on your shoelaces so that you can be like an ally for other people. Should we buy some? Absolutely, yeah, definitely. But so Abby's actually, yeah, started this initiative and it's really, really cool. So you can go to rainbowshoelace.com.au and like buy,
Starting point is 00:34:23 there's kits, but you can also just donate. Yep. And it's really, really cool. Look at Abby holding the little pouch of the beads. Fuck, yeah. But, yeah, like, she's just a great little kid and she was 12 when she came up with the idea after experiencing bullying. Aren't kids just, like, so much better than we were?
Starting point is 00:34:42 Well, I think it's just's just like a real show of like resilient that she's like no no like i am who i am and i'm really i'm really proud of who i am and proud of the people in her community as well yeah um but yeah so what were you doing you were 12 i can't even remember probably eating watching kung fu panda one um uh but sophie um not only a huge i can't believe they made four of those yeah it's great news for me yeah um not only a huge – I can't believe they made four of those. Yeah, it's great news for me. Not only awesome for Abby, but Sophie, you must be so proud of your daughter. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:13 Fuck, yeah, yeah, you would do. Like you would just feel so incredible that your daughter had achieved that. Well, you'd feel real shit when you had to move schools because you're like, oh, my God, I've put my daughter in this school. People have been shit to her. I feel really bad. I don't know what to do. And then you think that the daughter's come out the other side.
Starting point is 00:35:28 How incredible. But, yeah, so really love to see that. And so thanks for sharing that about your amazing little kid. That's so sick. And, yeah, you really, really love to see that. Yeah. I regret making my one about comments about porn stars because yours was so good.
Starting point is 00:35:44 No, all good. All good. Okay. I yours was so good. No, all good. All good. Okay. I meant they're all good, not all good. I meant like they are all good. Oh, no, it's fine. I'll just carry this muscles over here carrying the podcast once again. They're all good.
