Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 403- Barbarian (2022)

Episode Date: November 7, 2022

In this week's episode, we're discussing the movie that everyone is talking about-- or at least, everyone was talking about a few weeks ago? Frankly that is a pretty quick turnaround for old folks lik...e us. Regardless, it's the 2022 film "Barbarian." WE ARE SPOILING THIS MOVIE, ONLY LISTEN TO THE EPISODE IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT OR NEVER CARE TO SEE IT! Special topics for your consideration include: the delicate balance of creepy/hot, a not-very-flattering image of a region, weird house dreams, the vibe of Justin Long, the evergreen horror trope of useless cops, and the level to which we have desensitized ourselves to disturbing imagery. Whoops. You can get more Justin Long (if that was a thing you ever wanted) in Episode 181- "Tusk." You can get more Bill Skarsgård in the "It" series, Episodes 351 & 352. We've not seen Georgina Campbell in anything else, but here's to hoping we do! Would you like to tell us about things we're wrong about, things we're right about, or whatever is on your mind? Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Katie. Hi Alan. How are you? Good. How are you? Good. How are you? Good. We've double booked this podcast. We have have? We have double booked this podcast. We have? Yes, I was supposed to stay in this podcast and here you are. Can we just stay here together? I guess if we have a weird meet cute. Bill Scarsgard though. Yeah, Dreamboat? I think so. Dreamboat and creep all at the same time. He's got both ends going. He really does and I think he knows it. Sure. Yeah, hunky, hunky creep. Hunky, funky, funky. Is he funky? Probably. Yeah, probably pretty funky. You think he smells? No, not, just like funky. Oh, like, like a good baseline.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Bump, boom, boom, boom, boop, boop, boop, boob, boob. Watching Seinfeld with Bill Scarskard. Bum, bum. Bunk. Bon-bonk. Barbarian. Barbarian. So a lot of people said, go into it knowing nothing. Yes. I went into it knowing nothing. Yes.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Were you stunned? Uh, pleasantly surprised. Same. Yeah. Yeah. I unfortunately did have a couple things spoiled for me. Oh who did that and why? The internet. Oh stop looking at it. I can't. I can't. It's just very. It's literally a thing that makes you addicted to it. Yeah. I love it though. What did you have spoiled for you? I knew it? Oh wait, we're gonna spoil this. Oh yeah. T. thi. to the thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. we're going to spoil this. Oh, yeah. This is a movie that you should not have spoiled for you. So stop listening if you haven't seen it.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Yeah. Or if you never plan to watch it, keep listening. It's fine. I knew that they had double, they were in a double booked Airbnb. Sure, I knew that too. Because that's on naked woman in it. Oh, I didn't know that. Yes. You see a picture on the internet? I saw a picture of on the internet. And I heard an interview with a guy that was in the movie but wouldn't reveal what his role was. Okay. He's the very tall, naked woman. I see. Yeah. Yeah. Because he's a giant, giant. Yeah. Which is not what I think happens when you have a lot of inbreeding, but who am I to say?
Starting point is 00:02:26 You just, you in breed a basketball team. Yeah, really? Why is everyone not doing this then? Because they're also strong as fuck? Yeah, but they just want everyone to nurse, so it gets a little weird. Yeah, I feel like I wasn't as distressed by that as other people. Sure. Oh no, I feel like my senses are phenomenally dulled to this shit at this point. And also, Rob and I had very different experiences watching this movie because when it ended, we were both like, huh. And he's like, just the way everyone said, no spoilers, like I thought there was going to be a big twist at the end. And I was like, well I think it's that you're supposed to believe Bill Scarsgars is, the the th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, I th.. thi, thi, I thi, I thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. So, to to to told, told, to told, to to told, to to to to thi. thi. thi, thi, think it's that you're supposed to believe Bill Scarsgard is a bad guy. Sure. And he's like, oh, I trusted him from the beginning. And I was like, you're a full. He didn't even, like, that didn't even register to him that, like, that was actually the,
Starting point is 00:03:15 the plot that people were expecting. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel like it did that a few times th movie. But like how could, like the scene where she comes out of the bathroom and or putting the clothes in the laundry or whatever it is and he has the two wine glasses and like the low lighting? Yeah. And then it's like explaining to her why he didn't pour the wine first and it's like because you stuck a hypodermic in there and put the poison in there already. Right. Like he was just red flag after red flag. But he was really nice. He was like. He was like. He's. He's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. th. the the th. th. the th. the th. the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. And th. And th. And th. And the. And the. And thea. And thea. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. thea. thea. And thea But he was really nice. He was really nice. Nice guy. Yeah. Yeah. Too bad they could have made a nice Detroit Power Couple. We've been really sweet. Yeah. Well, that's barbarian, we did it. There's weird tid-suckin and a nice Bill Scars card. So this movie opens with like all of the frustrations of renting an Airbnb where the keypad never fucking works but then it's always your own goddamn fault. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Good, you didn't read the thing right because you're showing up at 3 o'clock in the morning and it's raining and you're tired and yeah. And your dumb boyfriend keeps calling you I guess. I like the subtle thing of when she's in the car and just barely under the sound of the rain is the sound of people screaming. Yeah I had this with subtitles on and it said tormented voices echoing and I was like, see that's not subtle anymore, that's on me. That's on me. Sometimes we're like, Katie, listen to the spooks to the spookies! So she, the key isn't in the box, and she gets back in her car and then the light
Starting point is 00:04:47 in the window kind of like creepies on. It's Bill Scarsgard. And everything Bill Scarsgard does has a, damn, ping. Yes, they're giving him a lot of stings, which when he's just like putting down a suitcase, like carrying it for her. Wow. I also like that when we see the title card, because he invites her into the house, Will Skard's card is in the house,
Starting point is 00:05:12 and she's like, we were double booked, and he's like, well, come inside and we'll figure it out. When you see the, the like, hot, the the ti. the like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the. the. the. the. the. didn't notice that. I was like, oh, that's nice touch. I liked that it was sort of a transition. She walks through the front door and you see it in profile. And then she like walks in and then the title card happens. It's like a nice little shift there. I am blown away that this is a bad look, though. You can't just have a clear plastic shower curtain. Oh, sure.
Starting point is 00:05:46 In a strange house where you know that there's definitely cameras filming, you, of course. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I see it in an Airbnb recently, and there's cameras inside their house. And they're like, oh, it's that a lot of people have cameras inside
Starting point is 00:06:05 their house. For what purpose? I totally get a ring doorbell. I get that. Fine. Yeah. If you have like packages stolen or things like that. It's fine. Fine. Why in your house though? Are you just like watching your spouse jerk it? I guess? That sucks. Yeah, I guess you get off on that. Like I can't imagine just tuning into my cameras during the day to see my cat sleeping on the couch. I don't get it. Or being on the couch or whatever they're doing. Being real assholes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Yeah, I mean, imagine. I mean, imagine because kids are like, like it. The Ring thing even freaks me out. I think it's just because Ring has like deals with local police departments. Well, they would share all the doorbell footage with the cops. Well, don't break in anyone's house then, is how I feel about that. You know what I mean? Well, it's not just for that. I know.
Starting point is 00:07:00 You've watched enough British cop shows where they're, now go to the camera on this corner, and then this corner, and then this corner, and that corner. Yeah, it's true. So yeah, she goes inside and she's like, hey, can I use the bathroom and can you also show me your confirmation for this? Yep. She does and he does and he just like to thrown. Yeah. And then she just like nibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibibs. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi, thi, th. Yeah, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. She th. She th. She th. She th. She th. She th. She th. She th. She th. She th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes, she goes thin, thin, thin, the theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee thoo there? Because I like that a lot. I thought it was Astroglide when I first saw it. Oh. I couldn't, but yeah, I'm not sure what it was. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Hemorrhide cream would be great. Yeah, he's like, sometimes I push too hard when I shut. He keeps moving in a little blown-up donut around the house. He's like, listen, I really can't leave. I've got piles. Yeah, piles. So she has arrived at the house in the dark and we don't get a good look at the neighborhood. Which matters in a moment. Other than it's, there's one street like a block down from her. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Everything else is dark. Right. But he says to how dangerous Detroit is. This is really not an advertisement for Detroit. No. I thought it was on the up and up these I thought it was doing better. I feel like everything, like it follows was not an advertisement for Detroit. Oh, that's right. Yeah. I feel like that don't breathe movie takes place in Detroit, but I might be wrong. I didn't see that. I'll never watch that movie. I. I'll. I'll. I'll. I'll. I'll that. that. that. that. that. that. th. the th. the the the the movie. I'll the movie. the movie. the the the the the th. th. I didn't see that. I'll never watch that movie just because it sounds too gross of a premise for me. What is it?
Starting point is 00:08:30 These people break into this blind dude's house thinking he'll be an easy target. And he is not. Good. So it's hush, but for a blind person? Yeah. Except for a spoiler alert. toe. toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, too, to, too, too, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, too, too, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, too, to, to, the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi. tho, tho. too. too. toooooo. toooo. tooo. tooo. too, too, too, to movie, skip ahead a few or a minute or so, he turns out he has a woman chained up in his basement that he's trying to put a baby inside of
Starting point is 00:08:50 because maybe she killed his daughter in a car accident and he wants a new daughter. And I'm just like, yeah, I don't need to see that. Yeah, I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. ti. try. try try. try. the try. thea. thea. try try thea. try try try the try ti. ti. tired. Like one thing I will say about this movie, there's a lot of gross stuff implied in this movie. Yeah. And spoken about? Sure. None of it is shown on screen. Much appreciated. Bless. Bless. Thank you. Jea bless, as they say. Excuse I. Excuse I. So they are having this conversation like immediately they're cozy right? Yeah yeah there's like a couple minutes of him like being a weirdo and she's like I don't know and he's like well I made you tea but I understand you don't want to drink the tea because I might have put something in it because some guys
Starting point is 00:09:35 are weird and then and then she's like I'm here for a documentary to job for a investigator for a documentary yes and he's like oh you know you should you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to the to the to to to the the the the the the th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. I I I I I I I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I the the th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm the. I'm te. I'm te. te. they. I they. they. I'm they. I'm they interview about that? Me, because I'm like the top guy at that thing. I'm part of the lion tamers. I'm which everyone knows as being a circus crew? Related to the football team, the Detroit Lions. Oh, maybe. And then now they're like staying up all night and they're having some wine. Well, the next thing we get is him saying something like, we don't need anything to do with people who project some kind of dynamic onto us that serves them.
Starting point is 00:10:10 And you're like, oh, this guy, therapy guys here. And she's doing a bunch of like gender theory stuff that seems a bit nonsensical. Okay. Where she was like, it's always like, it their hearts ripped out. It's like, madam, no, that's not true. Yeah. And then he's like, he says something about women also cutting hearts out. Yeah. And I was like, is this going to be foreshadowing? Is a woman going to cut his heart out?
Starting point is 00:10:38 Yeah. Also, that is how I put duvevet covers on. So I do it too. Yeah. I love that. It's so efficient. Although I am lucky enough that I can now just do it with like my head outside of the duvet because my arms are long enough to just rip it and rip it. I know you've got a long wingspan. Long monkey arms as my child's is. Mom, can you reach that with your long monkey arms? She's so mean to mean to mean to mean mean mean mean mean mean mean mean mean mean mean mean mean to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to mean to you. So fucking mean. Say something once and your child will never forget it.
Starting point is 00:11:07 I'm also, like, I'm so far with Tess I am 1,000 percent on board, because she's making every right decision. Right, but I also thought maybe she's the killer. Maybe that's the twist. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe she set this whole thing up, even though we saw it from her perspective from her perspective from her make any sense. But that would not be unlike a twist in a movie? Sure. I mean, think about a six cents.
Starting point is 00:11:30 We see so much stuff from Bruce Willis's perspective. That's true. Well, he's still got eyes or just dead eyes. Oh, spoilers for the six cents. But like, show me the confirmation. Don't drink that that thiiiiiiiiii, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin, like, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thoom. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, thi, th, thi, thi, thi, th. I th. I th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, thin. I, thin. I's, thin. I's, thin. thin. We's, thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. thin. th. thin. Don't drink that thing that that weird guy dishanded you that you know is Pennywise in another life. Yeah, he's got that Pennywise look about him. He does. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:49 He's got, because he's so tall. Hot Pennywise, yeah. Hot, women love tall though. That's a thing. You know this. You know the. to like bend to look at her so he's always like looking down on her yeah adds another weird dynamic he is a goddame giant isn't he? Yeah I mean the whole fucking family is yeah yeah and he just like and they just keep setting him up and you're like oh yeah he's the fucking creep right like there's sort of the awkwardness when they're gonna take the bedroom and he's gonna tak the couch and there's that like awkwardness of like what's to be like the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I's they. I'm. I'm. I'm. they. the the they. they. they. their. their. their. I's their. I's the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. they. they. I I I I I I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. the the the the the the the the the the the te. te. te. te. te. te. te. the te. the the the the the whole. the whole. the whole. the whole. the whole. the couch and there's that like awkwardness of like what's going to happen. Is he going to leave the room here, you know, when it's time for bed?
Starting point is 00:12:26 And it's time for his weird gender thing where he's like, say what you will, but I will not let a woman sleep on the couch when I can sleep on the sound of the door creaking open. And he's like having a little nightmare on the couch. Yeah, he's like a little puppy. I got so sad for him. He's chasing a bunny. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. And then, but in the background in a very hell-hele's LLC moment, another door creak's open behind her. Yeah. Yeah, it's very good. It's very creepy. It is
Starting point is 00:13:07 very creepy. And like and I think the social awkwardness of her waking this dude up and being like you were having a nightmare and he's like I'm making noises? What noises? Yeah. She's like you scared the shit out of me. I'm so sorry. Yeah. She's like, she really should just let him be. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Yeah. She really should just let him be. I like that she was like, I'm so sorry. Did you open my door? Yeah. He's like, no. I really like that though. Yeah. So she's taken a photo of his driver's license with her phone and she's like looking at it the next day? It's like, I've watched this movie twice because I was like I got to get this all in. Yeah. And she's like, I didn't notice the first time but the second time where she like opens it up and she's like, swoony. Yeah, she smiled at it. But she, before this, she steps out the next morning
Starting point is 00:13:51 for her job interview and gets a look at the neighborhood and it's incredibly shitty. Yeah, have is there are some extremely desolate place. I remember driving into Detroit and there being a high rise that like three or four stories up had a tree growing out of a window. Oh wow. So it was just like just abandoned. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So much of the city, I mean if you go like there's so much of the city that there'll be a house for three blocks. Really? All the other houses down. Wow. Yeah. In my mind though, it hadn't been that shitty the night before and I was like, something's weird here, something's weird, but I guess I just missed it or just you don't see it in the darkness.
Starting point is 00:14:34 You just don't see it in the darkness. Yeah, I think that's the reveal in the morning. Yeah, it seems to go well. The woman's like, I'm gonna call you. I hate a job interview. That was like making me so uncomfortable. Again, I think that's adding to the tension of it as well. Because you know it's like a job interview sucks so bad. Yeah. And we don't always like see is like the woman come in to be like, the woman come in to be like, hey teas, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. I, hey, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I that, I that, I that's, I that's, tha. that's tha. that's that's that's like, I that's like, I that's like, I that's like, I that's, I that's, I that's, and then we go outside and you just see them going murmur mama mama mama and they're talking about how she's staying in Brightmore which is a real area of Detroit which had like a 65% population loss which I just feel like you really you're really run in Detroit down here buddies yeah I feel bad for it yeah I feel a lot of nice people in Detroit and they're like you're fucking it up for us Everyone I've ever met from Detroit has been fucking wonderful. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:26 And it's got like, it does have that whole like booming arts community where people are moving in because you can buy a house for a dollar. Yeah. Sounds like you might have some land around it too. Yeah, yeah, for sure. I could go for a land around my house. There's a big urban farming movement in Detroit. Yeah, not in Pittsburgh. Can th. No. No. No. No. Yeah. th, I th, I th, th. th, th. th, thi th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thoom thoom, thoom, thi, thi, thoombu, thoombing thoombing thoombing. thoombing. thoombing, thoom, thoom, thoom, thoom, thoom, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It's, th. It's, thi, thi, thi. thoomboombu. thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom. It's thoom. It not in Pittsburgh. No. No. I can't even take a shit on the street in Pittsburgh. Cram it out everywhere. But I feel like...
Starting point is 00:15:47 Cramming houses everywhere. Not cramming shit everywhere. Both. I feel like... Not mutually exclusive. As someone who has a neighbor who just keeps letting their dog shit right on my sidewalk. Oh buddy. Not. Pick it up! It's so easy to do. There was some woman walking her dog in my neighbor with a roll of toilet paper and I was like, you know, your next level and the shit I'm into it. Yeah. Do you think she was just out of plastic you gotta do as a dog owner though?
Starting point is 00:16:25 Yeah, that's why I'm not a dog owner. Yeah. Oh, like cats aren't gross. Yeah, I've never wiped their asses, though. Oh, really? No, Rob does that? thrown. No, I want to address something really quickly.
Starting point is 00:16:35 the number of listeners lot and then I throw up. Oh, I want to address something really quickly. A number of listeners reached out to me after our last episode where I said I throw up all the time, some with concern for my whatever medical condition it is, and one sent me some resources on bulimia treatment, which is very sweet. But I have to say, I feel like I should just clear the air. I suffer migraines. It's the pain that makes me throw up. If I quit drinking, I would probably get fewer migraines. I don't want to quit drinking, so I just muscle through it and barf. I've gotten really good at barfing. It's fine. I'm not ill. I don't need, I appreciate all of your concerns. But I guess I should have been more clear
Starting point is 00:17:18 about why I think that most things you say have been ramped up a bit for comedic. Is that true? So, well, when you're like, I'm a heavy puker. Oh, I am a heavy puker, though. Like, I puked at least once a fortnight. Wow. Oh, yeah. Wow. I mean, it's not fun. I try to puke into the garbage disposal as much as I can. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. try to puk into the garbage disposal as much as I can. It's just flip the water on, hit the switch. All right. Yeah, it's fine. But yes, thank you for your concern for community. Yeah, I appreciate it. The person with the bulimia resources though, I was like,
Starting point is 00:17:55 do you think I'd be talkingthat do talk about it flippantly. Yeah. Not me though. Yeah, but it's very kind of everyone to reach out. I know. It reminds me what nice people listen to the show. Damn it. Which reminds me to a quick plug. If you're not on the discord, get on the discord.
Starting point is 00:18:17 The people are so fucking nice. Apparently the invite link expires every week. There's got to be a better way. I have not figured that, but if you want to get on there, just message us on. Oh, somewhere, anywhere. Yeah, well, we don't really tech. Facebook anymore. Not there. Twitter will be Instagram.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Or send us an email. Yeah, we're the email. We're all family. and we'll get you a link. Yeah, or post about it on Reddit because there's always people willing to help out over there. Yeah. Those people are so nice too. They're so fucking nice. I think there's a lot of crossover them. Yeah, I was gonna say, I think there's a fair amount of overlap. Do you like when I see someone post something on Discord and then on the Reddit? I'm like, yeah, thu her thu her thu over thu co-I thu co-I thu thu thu thu thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, I th. Yeah, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi I think, I think, I think, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I think, I think, I think, I think, I thinkto see Bill Scars guard, because who wouldn't be really. A man comes running down the street really quickly at her saying, don't go in that house, little girl, don't go in that house.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Little girl, don't go in that house. Yeah. Which when you look at it from that moment, you're like, this is a terrible ad for Detroit. And then when you find out later you're like, oh, that guy, that, that, that, that, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to to to to to to to to to to thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. to thin. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thi. thi is something I was also thinking about in this movie is that it's not going to have the same effect from every perspective, but you could do a movie from everyone's perspective in this movie. Right. You really could. Like from Scar's Guard and from Tess and from Don't Go on that house little girl.
Starting point is 00:19:41 There's all these really interesting stories stories to be told I think. And it does shift twice. We do see it from Justin Long's perspective for a while and then we see it from the big bad's perspective for a while too. So she's in the house alone, taking a deuce or peeing. Just shitting every, just shitting every, just massively, sitting every, just... Shitting on the toilet, but massively so. And. And the the the the th. We th. We th. We the th. We th. We's th. We's th. We's th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. We're th. th. We're thi, thi thi, thi, thi, thi, we do thi, we do thi, we do thi, we do thi, we thi, we thi, we thi, we thi, thi, th. We's th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We do, th. We do, th. We do, th. We do, th. We do th. We do th. We do thi, thi, thi's thi's thi's to to thi. And, to to thi's thi. And, thi's thi's thi. And'm not saying she's shitting everywhere, she just... Shitting on the toilet, but massively so. But, and the toilet paper, everyone else. That's why, that's why.
Starting point is 00:20:11 So she waddles down with her pants around her ankles. Well, now that I realize that she was probably just peeing, because she pulls her pants up and goes to be peed. Oh, who can stop though? Oh, women. Won't you uncork that thing? Well, I don't think she started peeing. I think she walked in and saw there was no paper. And then I was like, Scar's Guard took a dump and left it like that. Scarsgard. Because if she had done it, she'd remember. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Shivelary. So she's looking. No. No. You can't spell chivalry without Charmin. It's very good. Very, very good. So she finds out that the toilet paper is at the bottom of the basement steps. Right, and it's a scary basement. And she doesn't even really run back up those stairs like I would. No. She's like lightly jogs. And she goes in stairs, gets the to to the toilet paper, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is the the the the the the the the the the the the too, is, is too, is the too, is too, is too, is too, is too, is too, is to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toilet, is toilet paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper paper, is the the the the the the the the the the the toilet paper, is the the the toilet the toilet toilet the the toilet the toilet paper, is the the the toilet the toilet toilet paper and then as she's coming back up the door closes. So she never got to pee maybe? Well that's true. Oh man. She's covered in a lot of stuff later on in this movie. It's true. She may have gotten to. Yeah
Starting point is 00:21:11 eventually. Apparently it's been weak so I'm assuming she's urinated. So she has the front door key in her pocket. Yes. And her phone is upstairs so she can't even like let Scarsguard in. Those reveals are perfect where she's sitting there she like touches her pocket and then you'd see the phone on the counter and then she touches her pocket and she's like the fucking key. Yeah she just goes fuck. Like you've, you know that feeling so well where you're just like I have fucked up. Yeah. So she's in this like poorly the like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like th. th. th. the like the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the th. You th. You the the th. You th. You th. You know th. You know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, that feeling that feeling that feeling that feeling that feeling that feeling that feeling that feeling, you know that feeling, you know that feeling, you know, you that feeling, you that feeling, I that feeling, I that feeling, I th. I th. I th. I the feeling, I the feeling, I the feeling, I the feeling like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the th. the the th. the the the the the the th. the the th. the th. the th. th. th. the th. the the the the th. So she's in this like poorly lit basement and she notices next to a paint can that there is a rope sticking out of the wall. Behind like a wooden duck? Mm-hmm. Like that wooden duck a lot. I wish I had a wooden duck. Yeah, thanks. Listeners, if you've got a wooden duck for K to get in touch.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Ship it to Alan's house will give you the address it doesn't matter who you are you could be a six foot eight woman with breasts big breasts big beautiful melons luscious melons no I can't be it's big beautiful melons big beautiful melons Perry and I say that to each other sometimes oh man I'm so glad I got to spend time with Perry and Cason at the Halloween parade they're so delightful best guys so yeah so thi so yeah she's in the basement she sees the rope she the rope she the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th thus. thus. thus. thus. thus. thus. the trees. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the time with Perrying Cason at the Halloween parade. They're so delightful. Best guys. So yeah, she's in the basement, she sees the rope, she pulls the rope, and my excitement goes through the roof because you know I love a secret door. You fucking love a secret door.
Starting point is 00:22:36 I mean, this one I'm not very fond of. Secret creepass door opens. Just into the darkness. Yeah. Yeah. Again, Tess making good decisions, walks up to the edge of the darkness and goes, nope. Nope. Nope. And then she's there long enough that she's like, well I can angle that mirror and shoot light down the hallway. So smart. And I'm like, fucking Tess is a rocket scientist physicist. Yeah. She's so good. At this point I'm thinking, did she not even Google Keith? Oh, true. Because she was sitting there with her phone, she's got his full name. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:12 She not even google him? Because at this point I still thought, oh, it's him. He's a bad guy. Sure. That goes on for a little bum that she didn't have a 10-foot pole to check for traps if she was going down the hallway. I like that a lot. You find a secret door, you got to check for traps. You got to check for traps.
Starting point is 00:23:29 She does not. So she goes down into the dark hallway. And this is where you see that first great backlitthe poster art for the movie. Yes, which they do a number of times with both her and Justin Long. I kind of feel like maybe not so many, but okay. So what did she find on there? Oh, the thing that everyone wants to find in a strange hallway. Hmm. What is it? In a place where they're locked? And you see stark white room with a bloody rusty mattress on it. And a VHS camera. Yeah, a bucket and a handprint on the wall. Bucket and a handprint on the wall.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Why she doesn't immediately just break that window down there, I will never know. I mean, I was like, please go check and see if the hinges are on your side of the door, because you can pop those hinges and open the door that way. There's like so many things you could do to get out of this situation. I don't know why I always think this, but I always think I could get myself through a door, a locked door. Sure. Like, just by putting my sheer will into it. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Well that's probably why you always
Starting point is 00:24:45 break my doors in the house. I mean it's like knobs are just like so pass a. You just got to stop screaming oh yeah when you come out of the door. The problem with that is that I've been trying to come through the drywall. That's a lot harder. Fucking RoboCop. Yeah. This dump truck of an ass. So Scar's guard shows up outside the window. Yeah. He, they're able to jointly sort of get it open. She tosses him the key and he gets in. And she's like, we've got to get out of here.
Starting point is 00:25:16 And he's just like, wait, wait, we need He's such a bad guy. I can't judge this until I've seen it for myself. He's like begging her not to go. And I'm just like, you don't owe him anything. There's a lot of like that in this movie. Just like women, there's a lot of gender roles and women being pleasers. And I don't know, I don't know how to say what I want to say. Yeah, it it it it it it it it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's like, I's like, I's like, I's like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the the the the the the the the that the that tho the. th th. th th to say what I want to say. Yeah, it's almost like they had this like, like that meet cute connection. She's like, now fine, I'll do what you ask me to do.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Yeah. Even though it's going against every fiber in her being to do so. Which in retrospect, he just wanted her to do because he didn't want her to go because he had met cut her. Yeah, he wanted? Yeah, she's a beautiful lady. So instead of just like waiting by the front door with all her stuff, she goes back on down after he goes into the basement. I think she hears him scream. Yeah, he yells her name.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Right. Yeah, and then yells, please. Right. And he had given her one job to watch the door to make sure it doesn't, and it damn near closes again. But it doesn't. She props pr props with a chair. With a chair. Yep. And then she goes further into the basement to the room where he is supposed to be looking around. She looks under the bed like his lank ass got under that bed. Like you wouldn't just see knees to to toes like sticking out the bottom. As a long man, I know that some parts of him would be hanging off that bit. For sure. It's just like, you're just like, don't go into that room for fuck sake. Take the camera, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:52 And then she finds another door. Another secret door. That opens on stairs. Another set of stairs. Fuck that. My note says, dude, fuck Keith at this point. And then he's like, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, th, th, th, th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the. the the thea. that's just just just like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, thea. thooo says, dude, fuck Keith at this point. Mm-hmm. And then he's like, help me.
Starting point is 00:27:07 And I was like, no, fuck you. But no, she's going down. She goes down the stairs, yeah. There's like an elevator gate down there, which is weird, very weird. Or like a mine chat? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Very in the like, huh? Yeah, yeah. Into these like fucking catacombs, I'm not going in there.
Starting point is 00:27:25 And just like carved out of pure Detroit stone. Yeah, and there's cages on the floor. Yeah, like a giant dog cages big enough to put a pebbles in. Yeah. Yeah. And I wrote, leave, he's not that cute. He is that cute but still. So while she's like she just has her phone flashlight yeah which as we all know in D&D parlance this baby gonna give you 10 foot radius of light right it's gonna be very dim be on that yeah and in that very
Starting point is 00:27:57 dimness he comes running on all fours towards her and you're like he's a monster yeah he's a total all four killer but he's not he says someone bit me we have to go this way like deeper like deeper like like the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. he. he. he. he. he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he the. the. he he's he he's a monster! Yeah, he's a total off-war killer. But he's not. He says, someone bit me, we have to go this way, like deeper into the catacombs. And she's like, no, no, this is the way out. And while they're arguing about it, a giant fucking tiddy monster runs down the hall, murders Keith by smashing his thul. So many times and I was like, Ugh! And then screams in Tess's face. Cut too. Justin Long singing some 70s ass song.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Glad I'm never happy enough to be that embarrassing. Like I'm so glad to be mentally ill sometimes. Jesus. Like, you'll never catch me acting a fool like that. Oh, I sing along my car all the time. Air drums. Not like that. Oh, yeah, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Oh yeah, I'm full nine yards. I'm just fucking embarrassment. Screaming Angel of Death. Bashing my face into my steering wheel. I remember a friend of mine seeing me on a trolley car in
Starting point is 00:28:56 Philly and like being at the other end of the trolley car and I'm just air drumming to Slayers Angel of Death, which is hilarious that you said that. And he's like, what do you do it, man? It's like, fucking listen to Slayer, dude? What do you want me to do? It's so sick! My hands are just going! It's this non-judgement song, non-judgement song about Joseph Gurbles. It's totally weird. It's just stating facts. Infamamous, butcher, Angel of Death.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Is that on your running mix? It was on my lifting mix for a while. Oh, wow. Also, once I got scammed going to a Slayer where this guy came up to my friend of me and he was like, oh, I have tickets. And we bought them and they turned out to be circus tickets for like the day before. So I had to then spend more money to see Slayer. I spent so much money to see Slayer and I don't really like Slayer.
Starting point is 00:29:50 I have never seen Slayer. Bump, Bump, um, Angel the Death. I liked it on this podcast, I have never seen Slayer. It was fun, but it just, I was like, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I th, I th, I, I'd the, I'd, I, I'd, I'd, I'd, I'd, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to, th. to, th. I'm, to, I, th. I, like seen Slayer. You've never seen Slayer. It was fun but it just I was like I don't know most of these songs. Every time I would have had the chance to see them Dave Lombardo was not in the band. I'm like, why am I gonna see Slayer without Dave Lombardo? Come on. Sure. Sure. This would have been like a the the curtain of the the theyrtle of blood. Yeah, I'll look it the the the the the their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Were they like opposed themselves down with blood while they did raining blood? I don't recall that. Yeah. I feel like I'd remember that. That was a good idea. So yeah, Justin Long embarrassing is embarrassing-asself singing along to some 70 song that's a very like it's got a lot of bits and he's doing all the bits in. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I's got th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. It's got th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't th to make of Justin Long. I just don't know what to make of him. I don't want to watch him do anything, but I think that's kind of his stick. Being like a face that you want to punch, a backfifing gishick if you will. Sure, yeah. He's got a, what was that guy's name? Screlli? they. What's th. What was was was that guy was that guy was that guy that guy that guy that guy guy that guy guy that guy. What was. What was that guy. What was. What was. What was? What was that guy? He's got that kind of vibe about him.
Starting point is 00:31:05 I just want to punch him right in his fucking face. Before he even opens his mouth, you want to hit him. And I loved it in the Mac versus PC world, everyone signed with John Hodgman. How could you not sign with John Hodgman? The man's an absolute comic genius. So he gets a phone call that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. the th. the th. th. the th. th. the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th th th th. he a thi the th he he he he he he a hea he- he- he- he he- he he- he he- he he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he a he a he a he a he a he a he a he a he a he a he he a he a he he he he he he he a thin he thin thi thi thi thi thi tho tho o'-he thooooooooo o'-he thooooo o'-he's thoooooooo'-he's th. th. Starting point is 00:31:33 Why is it being cut out, Katie? Tell him the other thing. That's what she keeps saying. Tell him the other thing. Oh, we could probably hold off on that. Yeah. . Yeah, his co-star says that he raped her. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Yeah. First they say he was sexually aggressive and they's like, what did she say? What did she say? And the woman goes, yes. Yes. She's saying that you raped her. Yeah. I was like, oh I love the idea of a woman just being like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Fuck ass this fucking bitch. Yeah, he does. He seems like a cool guy at this point. Great guy. Pretty into him. Good guy. I like when he goes and meets with his financial manager. I was like, this guy is me, but I don't have a great view. I'm trying to fire a client too. I think this was like a good push for me to do it. This guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this guy this this this this this this this was this was like this this this this this this this this this was this was like this was like this was like this was like. this was like. this was like. this was like. this was like. this was like. this was like. this was like. He makes it so that
Starting point is 00:32:25 there's no like room for argument. No ambiguity. I gotta do it. Because the guy's like yeah, you know how much is this going to cost you for the court thing? It's like okay you've got about three months worth of money at the current rate that you're spending money which just as long as it like well I can stop doing that.. Yeah well he's like the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th is th is th is just th is just th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. I'm thi thi thi. I'm just thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I'm th. I'm th. stop doing that. Yeah, well, he's like, I'd have to sell my house because he's got a huge mortgage payment. It's like, yeah, sell your house. Like, why does he go? I mean, obviously, this is my professional perspective here, but like, why does he go and try to sell
Starting point is 00:32:54 these low cost, low reward rental properties, rather than selling his big California house with a big mortgage. Because I think the implication is that he is a spoiled tiddy baby boy. Gotcha, got a tiddy baby. tiddy baby. But he's very much like a spoiled brat. Oh, he's like, I want to keep all the stuff that I got. Yeah. Because we see him at different points just being like outrageously shitty to people. Yeah. On many points. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:30 So his name is AJ. Yeah. He goes to Detroit to sell his Michigan properties. His lawyer is like yelling at him on the phone when he's there saying that he shouldn't have left the state. Why do you tell him that? Why did you inform him of that? I like that he's not even yelling on him. It's like frustratingly like of course you did, you dip shit. Right, it's like dealing with an idiot child. Yeah, it's like I'm in a rental car. Why are you in a rental car? When he gets to the house Tessessessess. Tess. tess. tess. tess. te. te. te. te. te. their. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he's he's he he the he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, heat. heat. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, th. th. he gets to the house, Tess's car is still parked there, which we're like, oh! And his reaction is, the fuck? Yeah. And not like, oh, this is weird and like, why is this parked in front of my house? Right. So he goes inside and finds the suitcases
Starting point is 00:34:21 of Scars Gaard and Tess. he calls Bonnie, the rental management woman. And she tells them that they only clean before new tenants come in and they haven't had any new tenants. And he's like, what if the place was trashed? And she goes, is the place trashed? And I was like, god damn it, we are all answering stupid questions from stupid people all the time. I do love this, like this tham this this tham this tham this tham this tham this thi this thi thi thi the thi thi the thi the the thi thi, the the the the the the the the the thi, like, like, like, like, like, the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their, their, their, their, their their, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. thean. thean. thean. tean. tean. tean. tean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. th stupid people all the time. I do love this like, this thing in this movie where so many people have to deal with like shitty people all the time so they're just like, is it trashed? But she says it with a smile at her voice too. Is it trashed?
Starting point is 00:34:59 So this is where a little bit of the movie logic falls down because it seems like someone would be looking for either Keith or Tess. Sure. And they had both clearly booked this property. It was in their emails, you know what I mean? Right. Yeah. Someone would have come to look in this property.
Starting point is 00:35:19 But would someone have had access to their emails and known where they were staying? Well, he says he's there to scout out, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th.. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. their, their, th. th. th. thi. th. th. to. to their emails and known where they were staying. Well, he says he's there to scout new properties for this group, so. Right, right. So they would probably know where-ish, where-ish he was. Sure. Yeah. I don't like it. Because the, uh, Bonnie says it's been weeks since it was rented out. Right.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Yeah. So, like Well it's okay. Justin Long finds them. So Justin Long's on the phone with his mom while he's washing his faces. Don't call someone while you're washing your face. What is wrong with you? Don't answer the phone when you're waiting in line at the grocery store. No. Don't call someone while you're washing your face. Do lie to your mom about being in town. Sure.
Starting point is 00:36:05 He gets a call and he says it's an important work call and he has to get off the phone and he answers the phone by saying, what up? F-Bom. Calling someone that in 2022. Yeah. It's just an instant, you're the bad guy. Yeah. So it was like, if we didn't think already, oh, don't worry, he's gonna hammer at this point home in just a few minutes.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Yeah, so he meets up with his friend at a club. They're clearly very drunk, or a bar, I don't know. They're clearly very drunk. And his friend's like, well, like, what happened? Like, what really happened? I'm your brok. You know him. Yeah, he raped her. And he said, I'm a persistent dude. Yeah, but he's like, you know me, I'm a persistent dude.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Not the first time he's done it. Mm-hmm. So then he gets real drunk, and as he arrives back at his Detroit house, he calls her. Mm-hmm. I'm sorry if I offended you, th have different versions of the same thing and I'm not even mad at you about it. And I was like, oh, he's barbarian. And I think maybe he is... He's the monster. I mean, there's like the big bad and then there's him, but I kind of think he's the barbarian.
Starting point is 00:37:20 Yeah. Yeah, and I was like, at parts of this movie, I was like, don't fucking give this dude a redemption arc. Oh, God, no. No, fortunately, that doesn't happen. It does not, spoiler alert for later. So cut to him passing out, waking up the next morning, vomiting. Oh yeah, I'm a perpetual morning puke or too, sorry. See, perpetual, I'm a motion machine. So him seeing Keith
Starting point is 00:37:47 toothbrush on the floor and being like what the fuck is going on? Right, he looks through his suitcase and sees that he was reading Jane Eyre. Keith, could they come up with a more sensitive guy book for Keith to be reading? And he finds Tess's laptop and he finds Tess's a, I'm assuming it was Tess. It's a pink Macbook. It is a pink Macbook. And he's like, oh yeah, it says Tess's name on the inside of it. And he's like, okay, Tess, let me see what her password is.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Types gibberish. I'm 100% sure you passed. I did password one. And then perfectly throws it onto the dresser. Like it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I's, I's, I's, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, t. tas, I's, I's, I's, I. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t, I, I, I. t. t, I. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t t t. t tas. tas. tas. te. te. te. te. te.s. tes. tes. tes. tes. tes. tes. tthen perfectly throws it onto the dresser, like it's so well executed. I did like that a lot. And I was like, oh, do I like just at long? Because he did that really fucking well. He did do that really fucking well. Ah, so he notices the basement doors propped open by a chair. Yeah, it took him two days, but yeah. Yeah. And the thing is, this is also like a tiny little quibble with a movie is that this prick would never go down there by himself. He'd call the cops because he's clearly not big on there being consequences to his actions. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:38:50 Right. He's gonna call and be like, you know what he was gonna come over here and help me. Sure. And they would probably listen to him because he's a white guy. Yes. Yeah. But he does go down to the th th. But he th. But he th he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. But he does go down, but he does go down, but he does go down, but he does go down th. But he does go down th. th. th th th th thus. But he does go thus, thus, th th th th th th th thi thi th thus th thus th th. th. th. th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th thi's thi's thi's thi thi thi thee the the the the the the the the the the thi the thi thi thi that basically everyone finds it. Yeah. Yeah. And I love that his reaction is not, ew, it's immediately googling, can you count extra basement space as square footage in the house? That is like a weird recurring dream I've had where I find extra bedrooms in my basement by crawling through a closet and in my dream I'm always like, oh yeah, I forgot about these. There's no bedrooms down there. You know, I have a reoccurring anxiety dream where I'm running through a house and it gets
Starting point is 00:39:31 smaller and smaller and smaller. I know. I know. It's a real weird dream. It's a real weird, reoccurring to the point of where I could just stick an arm into where I want to go. Oh God. Yeah, terrible. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the to the the their their their their their their their their their their their th. thi. their their, I'm th. th. I'm thro. I'm throoo. I'm throoooooo. throoooooooooooome. throoooom. their their their their terrible. I wake up from those dreams and I'm like, oh man, I don't have extra bedrooms. He gets a measuring tape. He's measuring it adding up how much space he has. So stupid. But he's like, he can't add it. He doesn't know how to do square footage. He's like nine and five, I don't know, that's like 40 something. And then he was like, oh, you doosh-knuckle. He is terrible.
Starting point is 00:40:06 And then he finds the stairs going down and his reaction isn't, ew, it's, oh yeah! Yeah, even more. Oh my god. But when he gets down there, he hears something on playing like on a radio or a television. What is it? I would say like I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi it? I would say a maternity video. It is. I feel like I had to watch that video in a baby class at the Midwife Center. I feel like I saw that.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Delightfully 80s video. Yes. It's about breastfeeding. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Kudos to the are on the brink of breaking at any given moment and that thing just been playing on a loop for like 30 years. Who can say? At least 40 we're told. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So suddenly the
Starting point is 00:40:54 measuring tape gets pulled away from him which I think is a great little great little spookery. So spooky yeah. And the light is flashing for some reason why is the light flashing? The flashlight because he dropped it it it it it the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi's th. th. th. th. th. Why is the light flashing? The flashlight because he dropped it. He dropped it. Right, he's like picking it up and hitting it, picking up and hitting it and he catches a glimpse of the titty monster. Yeah, yeah. And then he falls into a titty monster hole.
Starting point is 00:41:15 He does and then a great cover over him. And Tess is down there, because we saw his head get squished like a grapefruit. We're real sure he didn't make it. If he did, he shouldn't. You need to orphan that guy right now. And by that, I mean, crush his head with a brick. Yeah, exactly. Not get rid of his parents.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Not try to seduce his dad. Stelan. Maybe a younger Stalin. I did see his penis and Nymphomaniac. It was weird, it was flaccid. Nymphomaniac too, excuse me. The second part. Would it have been less weird if it was turgit? Yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 00:41:57 Okay. Yeah, I think they look even sillier hard than they do. I just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just then. I then. I then. I then. I think they look even sillier hard than they do. I disagree with you there. It's just a flaccid penis. You're like, blah. Oh. Can away from me, Gonz? Yeah, right. Stop flapping in the breeze. Was he doing the helicopter?
Starting point is 00:42:20 He was doing the dinosaur. He was doing the dinosaurs, where you hold your balls in one hand and your dick and the other and you open them the up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up the up the up the up the up the up the up the up the the the the the the the the the the the their. Never done the dinosaur, do it to Muzzi tonight. See how she likes it. Hey, babe. Hey, babe.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Hey, babe. Oh, I'm so grateful to be of an age where my friends don't think it's all right to just pull their dicks out randomly at me. I have not seen a random dick in ages. Yeah. Not an invitation, internet. Oh, I also, speaking of things, I haven't seen in ages. I saw two dudes fight in the middle of the street during rush hour the other day. Where? I know where that is not far from big thages. the thages. thages. thages. thages. thages. thages. thiiiiii. th. thi. I. I. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm. I'm. I'm. It's not far from Big Jim's. But it was just like, oh, that's right. In person fights are really uncomfortable to watch. Oh, yeah. They're not like, knock about drag.
Starting point is 00:43:13 It's just like a bunch of pulling on collars. I'm grabbing like that hem of someone's shirt from behind and just like trying to make them bend over I guess I don't know. It's so weird. Yeah. See he's in a hole with Tess and Tess is like hey be cool just be cool. She's not going to kill you if you're cool. Yep and then the scene cuts and now the neighborhood is nice. I'm manicured lawns. Yes me too. Because at first I'm like, oh is it jumping into the future? Yes but no it's the past. We we we we we we we th. We th. We meet this guy, Frank, who we only see from behind for a long time. True. But even from behind, something's up with Frank. He's tall, too, but in the bad way, not in the scars-guard way. Yeah, tall and string beny with kind of slickhaired hair and just has like a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, a vibe, thi, thi, thi, and a thi, thi, thi, and a thi, and a thi, and si, and si, thi, thi, and si, thi, and si, and si, and si, and si, and si, thi, and si, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thri, thri, thriauiauiauiauiauiauiauiaui, thi, thi, and thi, thi, just his voice when he's talking to the woman in the grocery store about he's got a baby on the way
Starting point is 00:44:07 and they're doing an unassisted homebirth which is like now a thing that women brag about on mom groups and then they're like the baby's not really breathing what should I do? I'm not going to call a doctor they are monsters yeah, it's terrible. Terrible, just terrible. Give me everything modern medicine can throw at me. I mean. Yeah, just giving birth in your house without... They're also the same kind of bragging moms who don't get prenatal care either. Oh, it's just cottage core? I think so. I think this is extreme. Okay. Yeah. This is extreme. Okay. I think this is extreme. Okay. Okay. This is extreme. I. I th. I th. I this is. I this is extreme. I this is extreme. I this is extreme. I this is extreme. Anyway, I did my own research. No, you do yours. So those kind of assholes, you know?
Starting point is 00:44:53 Yeah. Yeah. Well, we'll talk more about them next week. And the They Live episode. Will we? Yeah, I got thoughts. All we're doing, they live next week. Way to spoil it. Which I, by the way, wrote down is, it's alive and not they live.
Starting point is 00:45:10 So I had that movie all fucking cued up before I was like, I've seen this. A baby, huh? A baby, oh, god damn it. Wait, the movie we're supposed to be doing is. I don't want to text you because I know how annoying I am. And so I finally just searched for like John Carpenter, live? And I was like, ha ha ha! Katie, I will tell you this with all of the honesty in my soul, you are one of the least annoying people I know. I text you a lot though. I was like, Alan, hey Alan, hey Alan, guess what I thought of? Alan, I'm sitting on the toilet
Starting point is 00:45:46 right now and I was just thinking, you know what we should do? We should cover our attic and cobwebs. Sorry. Anyway, tell me what this guy's doing. And he's like, hey, I'm going to follow her home. He follows her. He puts on a jump suit that he has in the trunk. Yeah. He gets into her house by her the house the house th house th. th. He th. He either did work for somebody who would go into people's homes or he just dressed up to do it.
Starting point is 00:46:36 That could well be. Yeah. I don't know much about BTK because that show that got canceled that I really liked that was, oh fuck, it was shot in Pittsburgh that lose bar. Oh, uh, Mind Hunter. Yes, I really wanted to be the third season. Oh, did it get canceled? It got canceled. Yeah. I really like that too. They never saw, they never caught the mind, huh? No, they never hunted it fully. I never finished the second season. I guess I should, yeah. No, no, they they they they they the th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. There's not going to be a third so there's no resolution to anything. But I did like seeing all the landmarks I know. That bar's in my neighborhood. So he goes in and unlatches a bedroom window, or bathroom window.
Starting point is 00:47:18 And then heads back to his own house. And that's the last we see of him for a while. Not before we see stand-up comedian Kurt Brown-Oller is his neighbor. Oh, is that who that is? Yeah, he's a very funny stand-up. He, he seemed very out of place in this movie. You're skipping like, Frank? Really then? Like, as if you, it was going to break Frank's heart. Yeah. I don't think Frank gives a fuck. I don't th, I don't th, I don't th, I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't thin. I don't thin. I don't th. I don't th. I don't that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. I that. I that. I that. I that. Yeah. Yeah. I that. Yeah. I that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I that. Yeah. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that that. I that that that that that th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't thi thi th. I don't that that think he knows that. When he's like, hey buddy. And Frank goes, Doug? Doug. Yeah. So basically this is where we begin to see the flight out of the neighborhood.
Starting point is 00:47:53 I guess this mills closed and yeah. Yeah, and all the car plants. Yeah. So the next thing we see is hair hanging through the grate above Justin Long and I think that's such a nice visual. It's such a nice visual and then the old the old the old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old.. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the ti. the the the the the the above Justin Long and I think that's such a nice visual. It's such a nice visual and then the old-timing milk bottle? Yes, an old-school baby bottle. With a nipple on it that is engorged with milk? Yeah. And Tess is saying she just wants you to be her baby. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:20 But in a like a, she doesn't want you to be her baby. Just drink it, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, t, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, and then, and then, thi, and then, and then, thi, and then, and then, and then, and thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the the the the the the the the th, thi, the thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, ta. And, ta's ta'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a you to be her baby, just do it. Do it, just drink it, just drink it. She does, she drinks it. She does, test us, Justin Long will not. I also like when she, when the titty lady hops out on the hole and then just like comforting tests against her and tests is like, yep baby talk she's very strong though she drags him up out of the hole because he's being a dick to her and she boops him she puts her finger on his nose and goes boop which to ask me if I liked that
Starting point is 00:48:55 did you like that I loved it this is one of the many things that made me like him finding the stairwell and being like yeah maybe laugh because it's the complete the complete the complete the complete the complete the complete the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the Him finding the stairwell and being like, yay! Maybe laugh because it's the complete opposite of the reaction of any sane you and me. Any normal person. So she drags him back into her room where the breastfeeding video is playing. And she forces him, she forces him to breastfeed. Which I wrote, whatever, some people are into that, and he has a coming. So I know a lot of people were very disturbed by this
Starting point is 00:49:28 scene and I was kind of like, fuck this guy. Fuck a titty. The fact that it's happening to a fucking duchbag is just like, cares a shit. Like, films, all you have to do is set up that I hate this guy and you can see why it would upset some people. Just we're just fucking a callous over our lives here, you know. Have you watched any of the Guillermo D'Otoro Cabinet of Curiosity show that's on Netflix? No, should I?
Starting point is 00:49:58 It's fucking great. Okay, great. There's a scene in the Pikman's Model episode where someone sees another person sucking on a boob and that boob has like moss on it and he's sucking on and it's like, hey, whatever. Yeah, fine. Who gives a shit? Yeah. Tits are tits, really.
Starting point is 00:50:15 But it was also just like, I've seen worse. Yeah, I've seen we're weirder shit. Yeah, which is a little disappointing because I was talking to my cousin Celeste about this movie who had shockingly seen it before me. Not a big fan of horror. And she was like, well, I'm only going to tell you this. I thought about it for a really long time afterwards. That's awesome. And then when we talked about it after I watched it, she's like, wasn't that so fucked up. I am blown away by how huge this movie is. I know.
Starting point is 00:50:49 And like how many just like regular ass people are like that's like... Yes, she's absolutely a regular ass person who would not, you normally see this kind of movie. Not desensitized buttholes like on this. Oh, sensation's rim. So she kicks the tape measure as test is trying to run away. She kicks the tape measure. Yeah. And this like gets a chase going with the monster. Right. And she does get, she breaks out of the house. She breaks the window. Yeah. And then the hey little girl guy is waiting outside for her.
Starting point is 00:51:19 Yeah. He'd been trying to warn her. Yeah. Oh, it's heartbreaking. that she has to get out of the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood the neighborhood trying to warn her. Oh, it's heartbreaking. And tells her that she has to get out of the neighborhood before night because she comes out at night. And he's telling him like she's got someone else in there and he goes, she ain't even the worst thing in there. Yeah. Yeah. Yuck.
Starting point is 00:51:37 Yeah. And she's not. No. And they're doing this very cool, I always like a rotating camera of like it's broad daylight, she's outside, she's all fucked up, dirty and matted and talking to this guy who's also all dirty and matted because he's unhoused. And they're just standing in like very stark sunlight, having this weird conversation while the camera rotates. And I really liked that. Yeah. I like a lot of the camera, when we we go back to the 80s and it's all fish eye lens as we're watching him walk around I was like oh man it's really cool. It's incredibly artistic without being pretentious this movie
Starting point is 00:52:12 yeah. So she makes her way to a gas station calls the cops how are the cops? How did they do? Useless but it's a horror movie and also racism. Yeah, but it was like it when she puts her hand on the car because she's like oh my god you're finally here and his first reaction is ma'am get your hands off the car. And I'm just like, ugh, and she's like, but no I was just trapped and asked ma'am get your hands off the car. It's like, why canthink they just think she's crazy. She's on drugs and she's, you know, having psychosis. Nah, no, no, cops, man.
Starting point is 00:52:51 Ugh. So interspersed with this, we see Justin Long. Going into a room that the tiddy monster is afraid of, which is like, I don't think I'm going in there. If she's afraid of it, I'm not going in. No. What's in that room, Katie? That lady's yellow dress, first of all, from the 80s. Oh yeah, yeah. And it's, uh, not Doug, that was the neighbor. Yeah, it's Frank. Frank.
Starting point is 00:53:16 Yeah. that's, thepped down here. Is that what he thinks? I think so. I think so. I think so. Because he says we're going to get out of here. Well I'm going to get out of here. Well I'm going to get out of here and I'll get you help. I see. Because he's a good person. Oh, to men. He's not even a good person. That guy's like we're going to get out of here. Well, I'm just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just the fact. the fact. the fact. the fact. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just that he's just that he's just that he's just that he's that he's that he's that he's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that he. He's he. He's he. He's he. He's he. He he. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. He's. I. the. I. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. he. he's just. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. he's just. he. he. locked up. He's not chained. He's not under a fucking great now. No, he's in bed. He's very sickly, very poorly in health. Yeah. And he says, Justin Long says to him, that fucking thing is going to pay for what it did. And the guy's scowls. Yeah. So then he notices there's a TV with a VCR. Uh-huh. And about, what, about 50 video tapes? Yeah. With all different descriptions of women on them? One of them said the puker, and I was like, fuck. Fuck.
Starting point is 00:54:12 Oh, no. Yeah. Just, one of them just says no teeth. Oh, God. So, um, that feels like the sort of Easter-eggy things of the white, the, that feels like the sort of Easter eggy things of the whiteboard and cabin in the woods, but in the most sad and upsetting way. He pushes the tape in, like don't push the tape in. You don't want to see the tape in.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Yeah. He pushes the tape in. And then he watches the tape and he did not want to see that tape and says, what the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the the the the the the the the the tha, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he did, and he did, and he did, and he did, and he did, and he did, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he's, and he. Yeah, and he's, and he. Yeah, and he. Yeah, and he.. Yeah, and he. Yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tape, tape, tape, tape, toe, toe, toe, toe, toe, tape, tape, tape, tape, and he did. Yeah, and he's tape, and he's taptape and says what the fuck is wrong with you. Right. To Frank. Not like he's not also a rapist. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, Frank finds his gun. Mm-hmm. I wish he'd shot Justin Long. Yeah, he doesn't, though. What's he do? Shutes himself? I did not expect that. Yeah, he's not going to be held responsible for the fucked up shit that he's done. Sure. Men never think they should be. And they should be they should be they should be they should be they should be they should be they should be they should be they should be held th. th. th. thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah. thi. Yeah. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. never think they should be, which is also one of the themes of this movie. He's been living in a cave under someone else's house for years. And just that like it's been a rental. There've been people in and out of there. Yeah. Oh my god. How was she getting out at night? Great question. Would she going upstairs and sneaking out while people were sleeping? And what was she doing out at night? I guess going to the store. Okay. So the cops bring tests back to the house.
Starting point is 00:55:36 And she's like, okay, we have to kick the door in to get inside. He's like, you don't have a key, you don't live here. The only crime I see is that you kicked that window out. Yeah. I'm like, buddy, you are perfect at your job, actually. Yeah. You're doing it. Ay, ay. So Tess is so insistent on helping Justin Long, that she goes back into the house. And this is a great lesson to never help anyone, don't you think? Is this when the woman chases her back out of the house? Is that what happens next? I think so. Because he, no, um, Justin Long shoots her.
Starting point is 00:56:17 Oh, that's right. And then drags her out. She's able to walk. She's been shot in like the shoulder. Yeah. And they meet up with the unhoused guy on the street again. Yes, but she no, she pins. For us, she pins the tiddy lady to the house with her car. Drove this lady into the house. That's what this is. Yes, yes, yes. And then we think that she's died. But we're watching a horror movie so we should know. She's she's. Yeah. She's. Yeah. She's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yes. th. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. th. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's th. She's. She's. She's she's gonna Michael Myers, it? Yeah. And my notes are like, oh, he best not shoot Tess. And then call out or something, like, Jesus Christ, if you know the titty monsters upstairs, call out to this guy. Don't just wander around in the dark because he shoots her.
Starting point is 00:56:57 He does shoot her. He does. He's a bad dude. So they end up getting out and the guy, Justin Long is like, what the fuck? This is my house. And the guy says, you might own that paper, but that's her daddy's house. And I was like, uh, yeah, uh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So he takes them back to where he's been staying. Yeah,'s like, yeah man, all these years she's never come in here, never broken into my place, never going to affect me. And
Starting point is 00:57:30 Justin Long is doing this like, woe is me. Like, suddenly he wants to take responsibility for his actions. He's like, maybe I'm a bad person, or I'm a good person who did a bad thing. Like, he's still not even really doing it. It's a very quick turnaround for him. But then what happens? She busts through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man. Like the Kool-Aid Man. Rips off the nice man's arm, beats him to death with his own arm. Oh my God. It cannot be oversaid that she is a god-dame giant. Do a search for real-life Jack Skillington on on YouTube, and it's the actor who played her, dressed up as Jack Skellington, and he moves like him.
Starting point is 00:58:11 Wow. Because his limbs are long like Jack Skellinger's limbs. Yeah. And legs, too. He's a huge person. So they run up a water tower to get away from her. Yeah. And he drops the gun because he's a ding-dong. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:27 And like, but like fumbles it like fucking Don Knotts. Yeah, it's very Donutsian. And Tess is like really slow down because she's been shot. So the titty lady is running up after them. And Justin Long's like, well, you're going to have to help me so I can't to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get're going to have to help me so I can get away. Yes. And what's his plan for her helping him? He throws her off the edge.
Starting point is 00:58:49 Uh-huh, to knock the lady off of the stairs. Who like, then I think gets sort of below her to cushion her fall. Yes, she dives to get underneath her because she's her baby. Yeah. And like, just like, thi ths ths tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, the the thi, thi, the, to he he he he he he he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He, th. He, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. thoooooooooooo. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th like oh this is... He says to her come get your baby and then shoves her off. And like just like grabs her and tosses her and I was like you're a piece of shit. I mean how could you not think twice? Like I feel like I'd have a second thought about tossing Vladimir Putin off a water tower. I know I shouldn't, but I probably would you know?? Yeah, no, yeah, because you're a conscious human being. Yeah, and that's why I was like, he's barbarian. And then, so Tess is not dead. She is on top of the titty monster. And he comes down and he's like, I didn't even let you go. You started to slip. I'm saving you. And you're just like, my God.
Starting point is 00:59:47 So what happens next? Titty Liddy chokes Justin Long? No, it puts her fingernails in his eyes and tears his head in half, which is a nice come-up up ends for him. And then Tess looks at Titty Monster. I feel bad even calling her Titty Monster. Yes, you do feel empathy for this creature now. Yes, nothing that...
Starting point is 01:00:10 Oh, did we even say what had happened? The father had been, the... Frank had been keeping women in the basement and impregnating them and in breeding and impregnating the babies and just, yes, horrible stuff. Yeah, we probably glossed it. We that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the that's that's that's that's their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their theathing. theathea. threath. Oh, that's something we definitely didn't want to talk about. Yeah, blah. So she's a victim, titty monster,
Starting point is 01:00:33 even if she killed handsome, handsome Keith. Yeah. And she like kisses her fingers and says, baby. Puts it on Tessa's forehead and test pulls the trigger. Yeah. It was really th a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes tho tho tho tho th. We'll te. tea tea tea tea tea tea togea toge. We'll toge. We'll toge. t and Tess pulls the trigger. Yeah. It was really the right thing to do. It was a mercy kill. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Also, she wasn't going back in that basement. Tess was even like, I can't go back there. I can't go back there, which is also very heartbreaking that like, I don't know, Tess was human enough we see test walk away. Yeah. Yeah. What's the what's she gonna do now? Hopefully she got that job. I mean, they held it for. I mean, hope she didn't call that lady and be like, listen, I did not bail on you. Listen, you're not gonna believe this. Yeah. It's wild. It is wild. You were right about Brightmore. Also Justin Long's dead. Yeah. Kady. that. It is. It is. that. that. that. that. that is. that is. that is. that is. that. that is. that. that is. that. that is. that. that. that is. that. that. that. that is. that is. that. that. that. that's that's. that. that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the the the the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Justin Long's dead. And Bill Scarskard. I'm so sorry. Yeah. Katie. Alan. Let's get ready. You want to raid this, bitch? I do. You go first. So after I watched this movie, I was like, I don't know. I don't know how I feel about this. What had you tripped up? Um, I don't, it was just a lot to process.
Starting point is 01:01:49 There's a lot going on in this movie. Yeah. So I was thinking about it and I was like, I'm gonna watch it again. Okay. And then watching it again, it was like, oh, this shit is wild and kind of genius. And I think very meta on some level where like, like, the casting decisions that they made, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, and to, and th., and to, and th. to, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, I was just, I was just, I, I was just, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to to thi, to thi, thi.eeeea, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, level where like the casting decisions that they made, I think with Justin Long and Bill Scarsgards specifically, I feel like you're putting you in different directions. Like Bill Scarsgard, you're like, he's gonna be the bad guy.
Starting point is 01:02:15 Of course he's gonna be the bad guy. He's got those big weird eyes. And Justin Long's got this like, I am a stupid puppy. He's got sort of like this all-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, th-s, thi-s, thi-s, th-s, th-s, th-s, th-s, th-s, th-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-s, thi-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-li-s. I-s. I-s, thi-s. He's got sort of like this all-American guy vibe to him that you're like, well maybe he's, you know, like traditionally in film, maybe he's the good guy in the end, maybe you will have this redemption arc. Or, or, maybe he's a walrus. So watching it again I was like, oh, fuck. And then I, watching it again, I also like took in that artistry aspect of it. It was like so fucking well executed. Yeah. It almost feels like the low-brow version of one of those A24 movies, like a hereditary or a midsummer or like a where it's like, it's like, it's like, it's real dirty and gritty like a real weird likes movie, like a real weird, like,
Starting point is 01:03:07 giving birth to a devil baby kind of movie. Yeah, it's interesting that you say that, because it's really not gory at all. All of the most terrible things happen off screen. Really the most disturbing scene is this woman trying to breastfeed someone, which on its face is not actually that disturbing. I do like that we saw Bill Skarsgarden's head literally squished. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:31 Yeah. The distrust disturbing thing is still the titting in the mouth. Yeah. But it does have like just this like super grimy feel to it, the whole thing. Sure. Because it has all that stuff that's not happening on screen but is like almost this like lovecraftian layer of funk behind everything. Yeah, just floating in the periphery. Yeah, like if you were just able to peel that back you'd see all that stuff that you do not want to see and you want to gloss over in your review of it. Yeah, totally. Fuck, I think I might give it a nine. Okay, that's where I was laying in too.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Yeah. Enjoyed is the wrong word. I was enthralled by it. And yeah, I mean, I think... I did not see the twist coming. Yeah, everything you said, really. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:28 I'm excited to see what else this guy does, but I bet the next thing will be terrible. Kudos, I was thinking about this too, like, this movie is hyped beyond belief right now. So hyped. And it didn't disappoint somehow? Same. Which normally we're so cynical. That, like, if you tell us something's good we're ready to just be like, fuck that thing. I mean, literally if everyone likes a thing,
Starting point is 01:04:51 I'm like, I don't think it's good. I have not heard a bad review of it. No. So that's crazy. I know I would like, if you're a horror fan, watch this movie. You already have, I would have, I would have. Yeah, and I I I would I I I would I I I I I I I I I I I I I would I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. It's just because we don't manage our calendars very well. Yeah, what do we even do? Plus, you know, we're getting in there after everyone's done talking about and now you get to hear the real opinions. I mean, it's like internalized that and then come back for truth. Yeah. Yeah. We're doing this for your own good. It's for your own good. You can't exist in this world. You're too beautiful for this world. Yeah. Oh, so nice. Thank you so much.
