Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 417- Skinamarink (2023)

Episode Date: February 20, 2023

In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new 2023 independent film "Skinamarink." Special topics for your consideration include: um, you know, saying some stuff...about stuff? Talking about ...corners, walls, ceilings, and the feet of children, trying to get a foothold in someone else's nightmare, and a very weird personalized license plate.  We've done a couple avant garde/arthouse style horror movies in the past. May we suggest Episode 115- "Hausu," Episode 194- "Santa Sangre," or Episode 240- "Mandy"? Also, does everything Lucio Fulci ever made count? If so, boy have we done a lot of those. Starting point is 00:00:00 Katie. Alan. You seen that? Seen what? The wall's the ceiling meet? That? That? That? The wall's of the ceiling meat? That corner right there? That corner right there? Oh, corner, yeah. Yeah. It's a corner. it's a corner. You ever stare at one? I mean I've smoked a lot of weed in my life. You ever stare at one with a flickering nightlife? Nightlight? Flickering nightlife. Cut to me in a club where everybody's just like dancing and grinding and I'm staring at the corner where the walls meet the ceiling? I mean, yes, that would be my experience. Yeah, that actually doesn't sound that unpleasant. I neither want to grind nor be ground upon. No, no, I shan't grind.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Ay, but really, I mean, just the way those angles. Well, they meet, see? So there's that. There is that and they're kind of purple. They're sometimes purple. Sometimes they're white. Sometimes there's carpeting. Yeah. A lot of times there's kids feet. Yes. To the point of where I'm like, you're okay? You got a thing for kids feet. You're all right. You're not jerking it to those kids feet, are you? Because that's fucked. You're focked. What are we talking about this week? God damned if I know. Who suggested this? What jerk suggested? You know what? I haven't been drinking lately. I am going to do something I've been telling myself. I won't do for a couple months now. Okay. I I'm going to open this icy light mango that's been sitting on the table since late summer?
Starting point is 00:01:48 Yeah. It's such a, ah. I think it's dry hopped at this point. I think we're going to call it dry hot. Well, I'm going to open this two times juice jolt. What is that a monster energy drink? No, it's a southern tier beer that tastes like medicine, but is 9.5% alcohol. That's medicine. All right, well, to skin a morgue. The attic is unheated, so at least this is like not, it's a little less than room temperature.
Starting point is 00:02:17 It's true. Oh, mmm, bit skunked. Well, it's an isolate mango. It started life a bit skunked. Well, it's an isolate mango. It started life a bit skunk. Stop? You won't. All right, so this movie. My first note, I feel like I want to get this out of the way. Even if I don't like this, it is cool that this little movie has gotten all the attention
Starting point is 00:02:40 it has. Strong agree. $15,000, like shot with like maybe the attention it has. Strong agree. $15,000 like shot with like maybe the director's kids involved in it, like the toys that are in it were all toys from his childhood. Very small, very like personal movie. Movie strong for what this is. Yeah. I mean my first note is good thing everyone has already told me I'll hate this Expectations are very low for this episode. Yeah, well, yeah. Yeah, I've been reading the I've been reading the commentary. Yeah, but I also get kind of mad about that because I think people say that they think I won't like it because they think I'm stupid like
Starting point is 00:03:23 like I can't enjoy an off-aunt guard cinema. No, I would hope not because that because that that that that th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th they think I won't like it because they think I'm stupid. Like I can't enjoy an off-ant guard cinema. Wow, I would hope not, because you are... The last thing I would ever describe you as stupid. I play stupid a lot on this show. We both do. Yeah, sure. Yeah, yeah. I mean, we're a...
Starting point is 00:03:37 Aryadite motherfuckers is when you go to your friend's art show and they're exhibiting with a bunch of their friends that you've never met? And that one guy's a video artist. Yes. Yes. Yes, but also the years in 1997 and static on TV still mean something. Yes, it's like the subversive friend, right? Right, right, right. He's got
Starting point is 00:04:06 like the like a couple TV VCR combos and one of them's upside down. Yes, and there's like a bust of Ronald Reagan with something written upside down on his forehead. Like Ronald Reagan? Yes, very much so. He's the Goth kid. Yeah, Nicaragua Spanish for Afghanistan. These kind of things are written around it. Yeah. That's this movie. It kind of remitting me of that. Oh yeah. Boog time. And I can like get it. I can also see why people are like getting into it because I feel like it's if you're in the mood to smoke just fat dububid, and stare at corners, and then have somebody go, hey, what are you doing, dude? Whatever the fuck, the dialogue is in this movie?
Starting point is 00:04:54 I have no idea. Yeah. My third note says, I think I need weed for this. Smart. I did. I also watched it at one and a half speed because after a while I was like, I gotta get to the end of this. I love this life hack of yours. I mean, I don't have that much spare time. It's true. And I needed to, I watched the first half at real time. You got it.
Starting point is 00:05:20 I was like, I'm not missing much if I speeded up a little bit. No. And people someone someone someone someone someone someone someone someonethere who loved this movie is so angry right now at this take. Yeah. But like, like t-shirts for this movie are a thing now? Like people are selling t-shirts for Skinnerink and I was like, is this a t-shirt movie? I don't think so. Is the movie where you're like, I need to to to to to to let I I I to to to let I to to let I the to to to the to to the to to to the to let the the to the to the the to thatheatheatheatheatheatheatheatheatheat, I'm like, I'm the movie, I'm to to to to to to to to to to tha, I tha, I'm tha, I'm tha, I'm tha, I'm tha, I'm tha, I'm tha. I'm tha. I tha. I tha. I tha. I tha. I tha. I tha. I tha. I tha. I t. I tha. I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm tha. I'm tf. I'm tf. I'm tf. tf. tf. tf. tf. tf. tf. tf. tf. tf. I'm tf people know. It's not big trouble in Little China, no.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Gotta get a BTILC shirt. It's true, you just need to get the tank top. I should get the tank top. The Jack Burton tap. Go jogging to Matt? Fuck. Destroy the world. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:56 The monster who challenged the world. It's my avant-garde cinema. So what do you think this movie is? Like, what do you think the point is? Not to get to, not to put too fine a point on it. I think this is a very personal film for the people involved in it. Of like, this is the shit that scares them. Okay. Waking up and realizing that, like like mom and dad can't help you anymore, they may or may not be in the house and there's no way to get out of the house
Starting point is 00:06:33 or to have anybody come into the house. And I thought that was like, that's a really effective elevator pitch. Sure. Right? Like that's spookiest shit. Yeah. And I thought like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a. Right? Like that's spookiest shit. Yeah. And I thought like, all right, this is gonna creep me out. Sometimes it's gonna scare a little, little Alan. Get a little scary. Yeah, a little titty baby Alan's gonna get a little scared.
Starting point is 00:06:56 And I like, I watched it with all the lights off. I watched it alone. Yeah. I may or may not have had a couple beers before I watched it. Okay. So a good a good movie experience. Exactly. I set myself up on this because I watched it yesterday afternoon on a 70 degree day in Pittsburgh where I could just hear all of my neighbors yelling around. Oh yeah, just Brianna being screamed up and down your street. It's my neighbor's dog Enzo that's the problem. Oh I see, I see, I see. I guess it's more of a South Philly thing where every young girls
Starting point is 00:07:32 named Brianna and there's just a mom going, Brianna! So you have the correct movie watching experience? I was like, I'm gonna set myself the fuck up for this. I'm just gonna go in. I the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound. I'm the sound. the sound. the sound. the sound. the sound. the sound. the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. I'm. I'm. their. their. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm. I'm. Yeah. Yeah. I'm. I'm. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I................................... the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I'm gonna set myself the fuck up for this I'm just gonna go in. I turn the sound up way high like Missy was upstairs in the attic doing a thing so I was like I can crank the sound. I can really just let this thing wash over me. Put my phone somewhere else so I wasn't like two screen in it and still I lost interest in this movie. Yeah. Like pretty quick. I think there was just not quite enough to keep you looking at it. Yeah, I mean I've, it felt like if there was like, I'm at a Halloween party and this is on while like the Monster Mash is playing. Oh, what's this spookerook? Right. It looked like something that might have been playing at the burlow box in the old days of the brillo box. 100% yeah. That needs nothing to most people.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I kept thinking that this was like a nightmare that a child was having after something traumatic happened. Yeah. Because there's a thing about hitting his head and then there's a thing where the mom says, your father and I and you just assume that is like we're not going to live to to to to to to live to live the their to live their to live their to live to live their's like we're not going to live together anymore or whatever. Right, right, right, right. There's a lot of open-ended sentences in this. Yeah, you finish your sentences. For a movie that has like 12 sentences? You can get to the end. And when I like how when the window like appears and disappears it makes that like bloop sound. Which is like silly? Yes, why? And it's like a very shitty cut. It the the the the the the the the the the the there. Yeah. there. there. there, there, there, there, there, th. there, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. Like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. Which was like silly? Yes, why? And it's like a very shitty cut to make it appear and disappear. I don't know. Yeah. It has a, I mean, a, a, a B movie vibe intentionally, obviously.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Yeah, yeah, yeah, like a, like a, a scene from a mystery science theater level, like B movie, for sure. Like an I Dream of Genie episode. Yeah, that's like theater level like B movie for sure. Like an I dream of Genie episode. Yeah, that's like the sound it made was when she blimps in and out of screens. Yo, that's a fucked up premise for a television show. Hmm. Hmm. I might be thinking of bewitched?
Starting point is 00:09:42 Well, she goes, twinkle, twinkle, twinkle when she wiggles. Yeah, you're right. But things things things things things things things things things things things things, but things. But things. But things. But things. But things. But things. But things, but things, but things, but things, but things, but things, but things, things, th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin. th. th. thin. th. th th th thin. th th th th thin. th th th th thin. th. th. th. th. Well, she goes, twinkle, twinkle, when she wiggles her nose. Yeah, you're right. But things didn't definitely blink at and out. What was the promise of, I dream of genie? He had a woman that lived in a bottle that was a genie that called him Master and did everything for him. Yeah, that is weird. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Well, well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well, well. Well, well. Well, well. Well, well. Well, well. Well, well. Well, well. Well, well, well, well. Well, well. Well, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. th. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was the the the the the the th. I At least Bewitch had Agnes Moorhead being rude to everybody.
Starting point is 00:10:09 That I liked a lot. Yeah. And yeah, I loved to Bewitch when I was a kid. When I was in Salem for Halloween a few years ago, there's a huge bewitched statue in like the town square. They killed witches there. Yeah, that was their thing. Is there? I like that a lot. They killed witches there. Yeah, that was their thing. But she was a pretty one, so.
Starting point is 00:10:29 She wasn't no goody something or other. Yeah. So yeah, we get, the movie is set in 1995. Oh, is it? The movie is set in 1995. Oh, thi. Then we get the sound of a a a a a the the the the the the the the the the the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the sound of the Yeah, there's like a thing that pops up on the screen that says 1995. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:47 And then we get the sound of a tape recorder clicking on and off. Yeah, it's like a sound silence. And a real, a thing that's like real big right now is 1970 style credits. Yeah. Like we just started watching, um, oh shit, what's the name of that show? Uh, uh, Puggerface. Oh, okay. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:11:11 On, uh, on Peckock. And they have like totally 70s style font for everything. Huh. Huh. And yeah, and then. Well, this movie puts all of the credits at the beginning too, because at the end it it the end it the end it just the end, it just the end, the end, the end, the end, the end, the end, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to, to, toooooooooooooo-s, too-s, too-s. And, tooooooooo-s. And, toge. And, toge, toge, toge, this movie puts all of the credits at the beginning too, because at the end it just says the end and then it ends. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, thankfully. There's no like, uh... No post credit sequence. Kevin just sobbing.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Yay! So what I was trying to say with this movie is... So Kevin falls and hits his head? While he was sleepwalking. Okay, right. Which is also what made me think that this all was like a resultant dream from that. But is it his dream or is it Kaley's dream? I don't know because there's no point of view in this movie. Like there's no character is your point of view. You never know whose eyes you're looking through.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Right. And Kaili's is the only face we ever see. Do we see her face? Yes, when her mouth and eyes have been removed. Oh, yeah. That's so dumb. It was weird because it looked like the girl's face in the cell phone footage in Lake Mungo. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Which is a very, very effective and sad and scary movie. Yeah, don't don't bother. It's great but don't bother because it's just so sad. I can't encourage you hard enough to go watch that movie. Like fuck your life I don't care about you. We'll just go into it knowing. Your psychological well, it's a phoagin' it's a fantastic movie. It really is. You should suffer for heart. Well I did, Alan. I watch Skin a Marink. Skin a marink, a dink, dink.
Starting point is 00:12:49 A lot of my notes are just like, I'm not sure I get it. And this film is daring me to stay awake, especially bad because it just dared me to smoke. So now here I am. Longing. You want a nap. I want a nap. I'm lnging. You want a nap. I want a nap.
Starting point is 00:13:05 I'm exhausted. I'm lulled. This movie is practically a screen saver. It really is. I have a lot of notes to say, is this the Dutch angle? What does this the Dutch angle? Isn't the Dutch angle the like weird angle that things are shot at that's like, or am I misremembering the name of that? I don't know. How would I know anything about movies?
Starting point is 00:13:26 Genuinely. I thought you were the one who introduced me to the idea of the Dutch angle. Really? Did I? Was it a long time ago? Because I did use to have other ideas. See, this is why people think I'm stupid. The Dutch angle, the tilt, tilt, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, the the ti, the the the the the ti, the the ti, ti, ti, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, I'm, I'm the Dutch, I'm the Dutch, I'm the Dutch, I'm the Dutch, the Dutch, the Dutch, the the the the the the the the ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, the ti, ti.e, ti.e, ti.e, ti.e.e.e.a, ti.a, ti.a.a.a.e.a.a.a.a.a.a.a. ti.a, is. te. canted angle, vortex angle, or oblique angle is a camera shot, which involves setting the camera at an angle on its roll axis so that it is shot composed with vertical lines
Starting point is 00:13:54 and an angle through the sides of the frame. You know what, I don't know. I don't think that's something I would have said. Like it sounds familiar, but... Well, you did a lot of art stuff when you were in school. And then it's gone, it's just gone. Yeah, you taught me about the Pieta? Did I? Yeah, yeah, I didn't know about that before you.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Oh, okay. I don't know fuck about shit, dog. You should know that. Me either. I don't know why I'm getting defensive about people thinking I'm stupid. Although I've been real into listening to history audio books recently. Like what? Well today I started one on New Orleans, Nawlans if you know. And it was making me laugh because every time the guy said,
Starting point is 00:14:34 Napoleon Bonaparte, he went, Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon Bonaparte? It is very fun to say very quickly. Yeah. Everyone, wherever you are right now, just try it.. to. you. you. to. you. you. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to. to. to to to. to to to to. to. too. Well, to to to to to to. Well, too. Well, too. Well, too. Well, too. Well, too. Well, to. Well, to. Well, to. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. Well. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. toda. toda. today. toda. toda. today. I. toda. today. I. today. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I Bonaparte. It is very fun to say very quickly. Everyone, wherever you are right now, just try it. You're in your car, just do it. Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon Bonaparte. He says everything with the proper inflection, which is very funny. I appreciate that. Especially for an area of the world that was occupied by the Spanish, the French, and the dumb old English. Yeah, so dumb.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Yeah. And that Cajun accent is hard to decipher that you hear people speaking down there. A guarantee. Oh boy. I've been rewatched the wire so now I'm re-watching Tramé so I think that's what sparked my interest in it. There you go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So we get a lot of kids sitting in a hallway with a flickering light. What this movie presupposes of it
Starting point is 00:15:30 is that children can be quiet and still. Oh man, and that kids only like to watch license-free cartoons from the 1930s. Yeah, there's a big thing about that in the opening credits where it's like, listen, all of this was free, okay? Chill, it's free. I didn't steal shit. Nobody took shit. All right, man. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:57 I don't have to pay for nothing. Oh, right. I'll cover it. It's fine. Yeah, I think I's, I think the director of Doth protests too much. Yeah, getting aggressive about it. And then we get like somebody off screen talking on a phone. Everybody's off screen. The fuck am I talking about? Yeah, nobody's ever really on screen. So, he's fine, but Kevin fell down the stairs and hit his head.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Yeah, they didn't even need stitches. Didn't even need stitches. That sounds like it's the dad talking, perhaps? I think so. Okay. And then he just is gone after that. Yeah. And when the kid is going to look for his dad, he's like,
Starting point is 00:16:39 their today and goes into the room and there's just like Legos all over the floor. Yeah. I was like, why would your dad have left Legos all over the floor? Those are notoriously dad torture devices. Exactly. Maybe that's why dad's left. Dad's just like a glutton for stepping on Legos? Or you think that's why his dad left? Dad went out for a pack of cigarettes. He never came back.
Starting point is 00:17:06 He's sitting at a bar currently going, fucking kids wouldn't pick up the Legos. Were he sitting at a bar just picking Lego pieces out of his bare feet? This one's a lightsaber, God damn. In my day, you didn't make things out of logos, legos that were already predetermined. No, you made the god damn castle over and over. I know, it was the 70s. They're playing the song about going to Dreamland.
Starting point is 00:17:34 I was like, this is not helping me stay away. Oh good, mom's crying. Why is mom crying? Why does the child say, I don't want to talk about mom? Why? Why? Because no one wants to talk about mom? Come on mom, get it together. Truly. Our are though. So they decide they're going to sleep downstairs and watch cartoons. Well they seem to think it's a morning because they like get up and start pouring cereal and they're like is it time to get up? Right because they pulled the blinds and all the windows are gone, so it's always dark in the house.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Right. I was so, I feel like, I feel like a dumb, because I was so easily exasperating with this movie, I'm just like, what is going on? What do I want out of this? That's exactly what I think people think of me. They thin thu. thu. thu. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thoom. thi, thi, their, their, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their, their, their, their their, their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thii. thiii. thiii. thi. thi. thi. thi what I'm saying. That's what I think people think of me. They think I'm a dumb. They say things like, oh, good thing, you're pretty. Uh, yeah, yeah, you can't say that. Yeah, don't fucking say that again. The ghost steals their toilet.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Not a ghost, I don't know what it is. The house, the house, the house, the house the creed, whatever the bad thing is. Steels their toilet? Is it a movie about bad thoughts? That'd steal toilets? I was like, why are you taking the toilet? That kid sounds barely old enough to potty train? I like that the kid throws in two buckets. Once for poops. Right. These kids are practical if nothing else. I guess. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:34 Just poop in the basement. Who cares? Are you a cat? Fuck it. I don't want to talk about mom. Do I have to keep taking notes if the movie isn't going to do anything? I hate that I'm squinting trying to tell if I see a person or a pillow. Yeah, is that, it's supposed to be like theater of your mind?
Starting point is 00:19:57 Like are you seeing something in the static? Yes, I think that. I think that this would be a, like you said, a much thia that, that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that think that this would be a, like you said, a much better immersive experience. Yeah. It reminds me of something at the mattress factory here in Pittsburgh. Have you ever been in the room where you go and sit and just wait? It's the red light? It's totally dark and you wait for your eyes to adjust and then you start to think you see things. I think it's very reminiscent of something like that. of something like that. But like I'm watching it on a laptop in a light room, you know? Yeah. And that's on me, but like...
Starting point is 00:20:31 Also, movies in 2023 have to be made for all viewing possibilities, I guess. Sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, eh. This is shitty. I mustthis is shitty. I must say a shitty. Okay, let's get ready. I don't know that this is a movie. Hmm. It's feature length.
Starting point is 00:20:55 It is. And apparently there's a short that this movie is based on. I bet that's probably good. Yeah, probably. But in that guy from your art class who wears the cure t-shirt every day, way. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Yeah. But it just. So you think it's not a movie? I mean, sure, it's a movie. It's totally a movie. But it's just like, is it a movie? Is it a movie? Right. Is it a movie? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Or again, am I a dumb? And I'm just not getting it. Yeah, is it a movie or is it an art installation? This is gonna be, I feel like we're gonna get the same response that we got from, I'm thinking of ending things. Oh my God, listen. You just don't get it. No, I guess not. Tell me more about the band Tool because...
Starting point is 00:21:50 Anytime you tell someone that you don't like Tool and they like Tool, they tell you you don't get it. I get it. It's not good. Yeah, but you just don't get it. But you just don't... You just not, like you just haven't listened to, you just don't, no, I know, it's stupid. Go on. Yeah, yeah, that was a similar.
Starting point is 00:22:15 You know what though, that one had a god-dam story. Sure. You got to see Jesse Plymann's face. At least you saw something happening. I feel like that one I could much more understand why it was for some people and not for me. Totally. Totally. Where's this I don't as much? But again, that's a failing on my end. You don't need to remind me of that.
Starting point is 00:22:37 I'm having a tough time imagining someone watching it twice, even though I'm sure people do. Sure. I'm wondering what the cinematic experience of this movie was like. In a theater? I bet that was like a lot more enjoyable than watching it on a laptop in a light room, but... Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Like I've been to movies in Pittsburgh and I feel like an hour into this, someone's going to go, the fuck! Yeah. Who is that?? that? that? that? th? th? I th? I th? I th? I th? I th? I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm like thi? I'm like, th. I'm like, th. I'm like, I'm like, I th. I th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I that that that that that that that th. I that th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi. I thi. I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that thi. I gonna go, the fuck! Yeah. Who is that?
Starting point is 00:23:06 Ducca Daner. So we hear noises of like, thumping upstairs and banging. Yes. And then we get that dialogue of mom saying, your father and me, and then the door slams. Yeah. I did like the thing of like, to denote that the kids are traveling through the house, they they they they they they they would would would they they would they would they would they would they would they would they would they would they would just, they would just, they would just, they would just, their me and then the door slams. Yeah. I did like the thing of like to denote that the kids are traveling through the house they
Starting point is 00:23:28 would just overlap like here's the hallway here's the stairs like they would be overlapped. Yeah. I think they did it too many times. A lot of times. Because the kids do separate from each other and come back togu. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the kids their their the kids their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their te. te. te. te. te. te. tri. te. tri. te. tri. tri. today is. the the the the the the the the te. together a number of times. Would you never see them separating from each other or coming back together? So there's like a point where the little boy is like, Kaylee, you have to come see this. But you're like, weren't you just with her? And it's, again, it's only, you only ever see the kids from the knees down? Knees down, mostly, yeah, or seated from behind. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. the, or sometimes. the, or sometimes, or sometimes, or sometimes, or sometimes, or sometimes, or sometimes, or sometimes, or sometimes, yeah, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they're, they're, they're, they're, to, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to. to, to. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, sometimes, yeah, they're doing crisscross apples. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:07 And you see both mom and dad seated from behind as well. I feel like I never saw dad. They were both in the bedroom at one point. Were they sitting on opposite sides of the bed? Yes. Got it. Because I think one, I was sure was a person and the other I thought was a pillow. But I see now that I may have been mistaken. But I think at different times, yes, they were a person and they were a pillow, as we all are. I find myself rarely a pillow. Is that true? What is a pillow? When someone lays on top of you? Oh yeah, no, I always have someone on top of me. I just meant like soft.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Oh, you're hard. You're out of here on the mean streets. I'm a box grader of a person. And we hear like, uh, uh, the scratching and sobbing as well. Yeah. And then a strange voice whispers, which I only know because the screen told me that a strange voice whisper. Yes, there were some things that were subtitled and some that weren't. Yes. So I understood some of it. Right, right, right. And that was, from what I was reading
Starting point is 00:25:16 was like a conscious, like decision of the director. To not subtitle everything or to use subtitles to like throw you off, like kilter. Okay. to, to, to, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they. they. they. they. they. the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, thi, thi, thi, the, the, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the the the th. Yes, the th. Yes, th. Yes, like, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to not, like, like, to not, like, like, to not, like, thi. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes, thi. Yes, the the the the the the the the to like throw you off like kilter. Okay is that why sometimes they didn't use apostrophes in conjunctions because I found that very abrasive. This movie was written by Cormac McCarthy and he just really does it like punctuation. Not gonna do it. Yeah. Good'm gonna fucking do it. Good enough for that Scott Fitzgerald. Yeah, again, but that gives it more of like the like, you're going to this art performance and someone's like, no, but like I didn't, I didn't subtitle everything. Yeah. To get it? And you're like, oh, to emphasize these points and they're like, not really. To deemphasize other points. Oh, okay. Okay. Is that why I can't see it?
Starting point is 00:26:11 I don't know. Can I crash on your couch? No. You're going to see at Manny Thiner's house. RIP to you. At some point they call 911, but I feel like that's pretty late in the movie. That is pretty late in the movie. Yeah. There's like a voice in the basement calling Kevin. It's like straight up, there's no way my kid would follow someone's voice in the basement.
Starting point is 00:26:36 But there's also the whole thing of like the voice, whatever it is, took Kaylee's mouth away? Yes, he says that she didn't do as she was told. She said she wanted her mom and dad, so I took her mouth away. Yeah. Which is really fucking dark. Yeah, yeah. Like deep down dark. But also when we see her, I swear her eyes are gone too.
Starting point is 00:27:02 They're definitely like at least D. S night theyeded or Snight or Snight or Snight or Snight or Snight or Snight or Snight or snight or sn. their sn. their sn't. their sn't. their sn't. their their th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thathea. thoes. thoes. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the th. the the the. the thea. the the the thea. the the the thea. thea. the thea. thea. thea. thea.. They're definitely like at least D. Snyder, Strange Land, sealed shut. Welcome to My World. What a great movie that movie is. It's got a beginning, it has a middle. It's got aim. It's got literally everything you want in a movie. Weird sex clubs. Yeah. D. Snyder. Robert Angland.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Oh yeah. We should have watched that. No, we got to stay. We have to have our finger on the pulse of what the kids are watching these days. I mean, I really tried hard not to read anything about this. I mean, I was hit by a few things that people said directly to me, which was, you're going to hate it, and it's about nothing. And you love Seinfeld, though. I do love Seinfeld.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I do, but that's just, you know. Remember that time that Jerry took Elaine's mouth away because she really wanted George. Because she kept asking for her mom and dad. Because she kept thi. That's really upsetting. That line really upset me. And I'm sure that's the intent and the good, good on you. Yeah, there you go. But I was like, well, my baby. I guess it's, I think it's also a bit challenging to feel scared when you don't sense the fear of the characters.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Because we hear them, right? We see them almost never. Right. So, you're not getting that like I'm in their shoes feeling. For sure. For sure. Again, I think it goes back to like, it's supposed to be a nightmare. You're supposed to be like, and you know I'm a sucker for nightmare logic in a movie. Especially with like structural changes to a house. You love that. I love that shit. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's th, it. It's th, it. It's th, you th, you th, you you you you you you you you th, you're you th, you're not you th, you're you th, you're you th th th. You're th. th. th, you're th, you're th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. You're not thi. You're not thi, you're not thi, you're not thi, you're not thi, you're not thi. You're not thi, you're not thi. You're not thi, you're not thi sucker for nightmare logic in a movie. Especially with like structural changes to a house.
Starting point is 00:28:45 You love that. I love that shit. Love that. Love it. It was the only good thing about that grave encounters movie. Yes, that was very good. That part, yeah. But like, there's no one to identify with it.
Starting point is 00:28:54 their thau. Yeah, no, no, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, there, there, there, there, there, there, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that's. that's. that's. that's. that. that. that. that. that's. that. that. that's. that. that. the. th. th. th. maybe, again, a feeling on my part that I can't put myself into that situation. No, yeah, no, I don't think so, especially because they're children. Yeah. You don't remember being that age. Yeah, but I also would have eaten all the candy in the house as soon as I realized that, like, all bets were all. And also, you would have just like, you wouldn't have been quiet for like 12 hours or whatever. And,, my sister and I definitely would have gotten into fistfights at some point. Yeah, you would have had it coming. Oh yeah, she should have beat my ass. Probably did. Um, see, yeah, this goes on for a while. Yeah, I mean, it really comes to a crescendo at some point when the voice tells
Starting point is 00:29:47 Kevin to take the knife and stick it in his eye. Yeah. Which he does? I guess? Why? And we know this because we see blood on like a cabinet door. It's sprayed onto the television screen too. So instead of like making the bright light it's dimmed by the blood on the television screen? Yeah. Why would he do that that that that that that that that that th? th. th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho tho tho thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te th. th. th. th. th. th. th. te th. thi. thi. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. te. te. te. te. instead of like making the bright light, it's dimmed by the blood on the television screen. Why would he do that though? You know. Kids aren't that stupid. No, they are not. They really do have a knack for self-preservation. Yeah, I don't care how bored they are by the fact that you're making them watch 1930s for 40 hours stream. Not even a Popeye episode? Come on people. That nod in the public domain. It's true. It's true. You can only get Bubbs Bumpy. And then it's like while this is happening to the VCRs like skipping kind of, but like VCRs didn't skip in my experience. They would just get eaten, they would just eat the tape.
Starting point is 00:30:48 No, but that's because like the monster is doing it. Why would he have the time and inclination to fuck with a VCR? Just see a monster with like scotch tape like cutting and splicing this video? Someone's just yelling at him, fix the traccccc.............. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. Oh, damn, that's a lot of notes for this movie. I can't believe this is still going on. Yeah, I don't think it needed to be an hour 40, and I realize that's, you know, you knew I was going to say that. Yeah, oh, yeah, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi thi, thi, thi, th, th, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. thi, thi, th. thi, th. thi, th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, than, than, to to to to to to to to toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. K.that. Yeah. Oh yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:31:25 I mean, it either needs to be a half hour long or on an eight hour loop at a performance space. Exactly. At some point we see what I assume is the house and it's like in a void with like light being shot down on it. Oh, I thought that was a doll house. Because it's on a top of a stack of toys and it's sitting like like like like like like like like like like shot down on it. Oh, I thought that was a dollhouse because it's on a top of a stack of toys and it's sitting like.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Not that, like that's near the very end of the movie. Okay, then what are you talking? This is like just like some, let's see. What's it around? This is around the crawling echoes and inhuman cries that are happening. We see, this, this, this, this, this, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. that's, that's, that's, th. Like, that's, th. Like, thi. Like, like, like, like, like, likethat are happening. We see, this is after we see day 572 and the pile of toys. Yeah, okay, okay, okay. After that they show like a shot of just like this little house and a void. Okay. And I assume like they're saying that the house has been removed from this plane of existence. Okay. Because these kids have been stuck here for 572 days.
Starting point is 00:32:25 It's a really long time. It's a long time. It's at least a year. At least. I mean like I'm too dumb to know what how long a year is. But I'm thinking it's probably like maybe even like 13 months. What? What? Meanwhile, this is all being set to the sound of a child whimpering, which just is like hard to listen to. Top 10 favorite noises. Oh yeah, you put it on to fall asleep too, though, like the way some people listen to like crickets and shit. Okay, booble, put on child whimpering playlist too. No, child whimpering playlist too.
Starting point is 00:33:01 It's on Spotify. It's on Spotify. Are you really worried about Google and Spotify suing us that we're going to boobble and Sportify now? It's every time I use a search engine it's just surf web. Oh I only use bung. I only use bung. I like the idea of uncanny gasps. What would that be? I don't know. What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:33:30 It was one of the subtitles. Oh really? What does that mean? What? That's uncanny. That's pretty uncanny. So this is like, up-si-down pile of toys with like a radio and a dollhouse on it. And this is where I was like, oh fuck, this is a 1990s music video or a subversive art installation, you know?
Starting point is 00:33:50 The thing you don't get about sober by the band Tool. Tell me. That's all I think of what I think of 1990s music videos, the video sober by Tool with like the meat in a tube and all that stuff. What should I take I th th th th th th th th th th th this is a th th th this is a th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, or thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooes, thooes, the videos, the video sober by tool with like the meat and a tube and all that stuff. What should I take from that? Well, it's an allegory about the Christ myth. Okay, tell me more. Jesus was a fucking whistle. Okay. Who knows? How's that song go? Burnet? Oh, that's how they all go! Burnah. Today we lose listenership.
Starting point is 00:34:27 For the record, I am a tool fan. I know. I call you a tool boy. They do all sound like that, though. They do all sound like that, though. Well, that's bad I want to hear you talking about. I'm just not a dual fan that feels the need to explain tool to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other to other too all to other to other tooe tooe tooe tooe tooe tooe tooome tooomoome too too tooome tooing to anyway, I'm just not a dual fan that feels the need to explain tool to other people. No. Thank you for that.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Yeah, pretty sure. Oh, see also head, comma, radio. I don't like it. I also love free jazz, and I'm not going to be like, dog. the whimsy mixed with the anxiety of life. You ever heard a band thrown down steps? You ever listen to someone's shit into a tuba? No, you haven't! You ever have your partner walk in a room and go, no, no, turn it off! Because I have a lot. Yeah, I have to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:22 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So then we see the kids go to college. Something should happen in this movie. Well, there's a ringing toy phone with a light that goes on and off. So that's kind of something. Yeah. Yeah. And that's the spooky eyeballs that we see in like stark relief.
Starting point is 00:35:41 We see these just two eyes on a very dark screen right and I'm like oh am I finally seeing oh no it's the it's the phone toy and it would it be scary if we hadn't met that phone toy earlier in the movie but we've seen it we've seen long lingering loving shots of that because we're only allowed long lingering loving shots in this right there's only eight shots live laugh love longer linger longer. Linger, linger. Linger. Longer. Another terrible band of the 90s. What that is that? The cranberries. Hush. I will defend the cranberries to the death. Ah, just every time the cranberries come on you're like,
Starting point is 00:36:20 oh man, man. I'm so excited. Not that way. We see some images of people like missing their heads maybe? Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we see an image of one of the kids sitting on a bed and slowly their head disappears. And then they disappear. Then we go back to the ceiling. You're like, fuck!
Starting point is 00:36:46 We're getting somewhere. And then somebody tells them to go to sleep and they say, what's your name? And then there's like a face on the screen and it disappears. Yeah, it turns kind of pink. You can't see its face and then it says the end. Yeah. I don't. Skin a marquin' dink-dink-a-do. Katie. Alan. Kill me? Kill me? Kee, tady kill me. Tady? I'm gonna need you to kill me.
Starting point is 00:37:17 I'm gonna need you to kill me. Why don't I call myself Tadyie? It's a better name. Hi, it's me Tady. Tady, you're gonna have to kill me. It's so close to... It is. It's like the cross-section of Titties and potatoes and you love them both. Yeah, oh my god. He doesn't. Tittetatorsittie Taters. That's me.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Fuck a fingerling. Give me a titty. Oh, old titty. Old titty. I can't do this anymore. What are your thoughts on tater tots? Tell us what your favorite way to eat a potato.. What's your favorite way to eat a potato? Tater tot. Tater tot. Yeah. Waffle fry. Oh, nice. Yeah. So much area.
Starting point is 00:38:11 So much surface area. Tater tot. Tater tots are a ta. You can make a Tater tot nachos are a thing? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, love a tot. I feel like they should be bigger. No, no, you don't want, it's, it's the, no, but it's, no, I do. You're into hash brown territory if you become bigger. That's maybe I like hash browns then. Yeah, yeah, maybe I just don't get about tatertots. The things things things things things th. Starting point is 00:38:57 For subpar excellence, you? Again, I want to reiterate from the very beginning. Kudos to this film for getting all the height got on shutter. You got, you, you did success. You looked at success. You looked it in the face and you said, I will, fuck you. And you did it, you fucked success.
Starting point is 00:39:19 How does it feel to fuck success? We won't know. I you know we often joke that movies have broken us but I think I might actually not be okay this time. I'm sorry we have to record another one after this. Funny. Drinking a skunked ass icy light mango. I mean this is the slowest I've ever drunk a my icy light mango. Mizz it now. I'm gonna give it a long stare in a corner.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Yeah. I won't watch it again. Oh fuck. No, I would not. No. Someone said, will you watch with me? I'd say, ah, you can put it on while I play switch. But I would not be opposed to checking out what this director does next. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. We got ideas. Yeah, clearly.
Starting point is 00:40:13 And I mean, I can't, I, I, I, if you liked it, good on you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not saying anything about you. We're not talking shit on people. Yeah, thi people. We're talking shit on people. We're talking shit on certain people. It reminded me, have you ever seen the movie The Begotten? I have not. It's this like artsy, fartsy kind of horror movie that's a creation story. It's very like stark black and white. There's no dialogue.
Starting point is 00:40:40 There's like barely any sound for like the first hour. Great. And then when there is finally a sound, they're like panning over. I, the like, the like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, any sound like the first hour great and then when there is finally a sound they're like panning over a field and a body just sits upright and goes into the camera and like it's very like it's weird weird movie I love that movie so I don't like I do love like I do love like I do love like weird artsy farter related things but like this just missed me so hard it did it missed me too too too. th thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th I th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the their the their their the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to the to the the the the the the the their thi horror related things. But like this just missed me so hard. It did, it missed me too. There was this movie, I wish I could remember what was called, but it was an Italian language film film that my friend Christina
Starting point is 00:41:14 and I had really wanted to see. We couldn't find it anywhere. We missed it at like three rivers, film festival or whatever. So we torented it. And we th it, and we, and we, and we, and we, and we, and we, and we, and we, and we, and we, and we, thed, thed, and we, thed, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, thed, I, th, th, th, th, th, th, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, the, thed, the, thed, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, ted, ted, tied, ted, ted, tied, to, tied, to tied, toed, toed, toed, toed, toed, toed, toed, toed, toed, toooooooooooomed..... tooed, toed, tooed, tooed, toed, tooed it and we watched it and there was like a little bit of dialogue but not much and it was in Italian and it was not subtitled and when the movie ended we were like wow that was really interesting and like very oh it made me think of this and then we looked at the information on Wikipedia
Starting point is 00:41:39 we were like oh that was supposed to be subtitled we literally just didn't understand anything that they said in the whole movie. But meanwhile we were like, oh, avant-garde. So I always, I think of that when I think of being like, this thing is interesting. And it's like you forgot to, you just didn't have subtitles. You don't speak that language. It's like when you're listening to records and you realize that you've been on the wrong speed? Yeah, there's go. I thought they were so slow and heavy. Yeah, this is really crunchy. Katie, we get a message from Ezra M on our Instagram. Hi Ezra M. Do you think it's that guy from the Marvel Universe who harangues people? Huh? Isn't he from the Marvel Unive? No, DC. He plays a flash. I love how you looked at me like, how could I possibly know you were talking about DC when you said Marvel?
Starting point is 00:42:25 I can't remember the Justice League and that's DC. Detective Comics. Is it Detective Comics? Yeah, that's where the DC, I think so. Who knows? No, Batman was in, Batman was in Detective Comics. Wow. I just, I've never been that much of a nerd in my life. Starting point is 00:42:48 Ezra M is about to harass you. Katie's right about the snakes. I'm the one that mails them from Ohio. That must be based on something we said, but I don't remember. It might have been my insistence that there are no snakes in Pennsylvania, Because there aren't. No, they're just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just they're just they're just they're just they're just they're just there aren't. No, they're just mail from Ohio. Yeah, it sounds right to me. Thanks Ezra for doing that. Ezra, keep them to yourself. Thank you for writing in.
Starting point is 00:43:12 That was a message, huh? I love that short and sweet, in and out, thief in the night. Can I read you a review that we got on Apple Podcasts? Okay. Such a delightful horror. Five stars. Love that five star. Big horror movie fan listening in from Korea. Thank you so much Katie and Alan for the wonderfully colorful discussions you put out. Wow. I spend an hour a day at work secretly listening to your podcast and it's the best time, truly. Such an adorable time listening to real friends talk about something they both cherish.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Never change, thank you. Oh God, that's kind. From Korea! For Korea! Yeah. Doesn't say whether it's north or south. They are secretly listening. It's true. Fuck.
Starting point is 00:44:05 What is this person's name? Oh, you're talking about Z-Z-P? Thank you, Z-Z-P. Kini, no, I'm sorry, it's S-Z-Z-P. S-Z-S-Z-P. S-Z-S-Z-S-P. S-S-N-NU-S-S-P. Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon Bonaparte. Nutter Butter. Nutter Butter.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Ooh, I like nutter butters though. Sure. What's your favorite box cookie? Ooh, used to be... Oh man. The, uh, what are the little elves that make cookies? Keblers. They had like a, like, accidentally vegan chocolate chip cookie that I really loved.
Starting point is 00:44:47 And then we read the back of it and it was 110 calories per cookie. Oh fuck. And I used to eat them like, by the package because they were all vegan. Who doesn't love vegan things? I mean, vegan's healthy, right? Yeah, yeah. I'm vegan. I'm healthy. Yeah, I'm. I'm um. I'm um. I'm healthy. I'm um. I'm healthy. I'm um. I'm healthy. I'm th. I'm th. Um, it's going to be a toss-up for me between a trash cookie and a nicer cookie. Okay. The trash cookie is the peanut butter Oreo. Sure.
Starting point is 00:45:18 The nicer cookie is going to be a nice Milano, Pepperage farm. Yeah, yeah. I love that bag. Mm-hmm. Yeah. It'sell you know they're fresh. They're in a bag with foil on the inside. Yeah, it feels real. I also like a store brand, those like fudge rings, like cookie with the fudge on the back and then like the stripes on them. See, I used to really like the Kebler. I feel like the kebler their recipe or something. Yeah. Kah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. their. Yeah. their. Yeah. their. their. their. Starting point is 00:45:48 You live in a fucking tree together. Come on, hippies, get your shit together. Where do you shit? That's the taste. How do you know, how can you tell someone's vegan? Oh, from the taste of the shit. Katie, now that we've lost our fucking minds, what are we doing next week? Oh, two bad movies in a row, we're doing the Nunn 2018's Follow-up to the Conjuring franchise I guess. Follow-up Off-shoot prequel? Something. Friend of the show. It's got your girl in it
Starting point is 00:46:34 though. Tesa. Tesa for mea. Yeah. She really did it. I hundred percent thought she was going to be playing her sister but younger. She is. Isn't she? No. I thought that was supposed to be playing her sister but younger. She is, isn't she? No. I thought that was supposed to be Lorraine Warren. I thought, wait, damn it, Alan. Her name is sister Irene. They choose a name. All right, let's do they?
Starting point is 00:46:55 Do they? You know more about nuns, do I do. The fuck is wrong with you. That's not my name. You don't remember the tink-tinks? No. I was thinking about Little Mama the other day. Remember that lip gloss song? Turns out she's like a straight rights advocate. She like, it wants to have straight pride.
Starting point is 00:47:21 She's terrible, is what I'm saying. Wasn't she on like the voice or something? I don't know. I just remember her lip gloss was popping. Yeah, yeah. Boom, pop pop. Song was great. So hot. And that terrible song she did with the Avril Levine. Oh, Avril Laveon. Where she said, Little Mama and Avra Leveen. Where she said, Little Mama and Avra Leveen. Where she said it again with your head when you say that. Little Mama and Aver LeVene. We did it again, they still can't see us. That's straight rights activist. Yeah. People's so dumb. I don't know. It is nice to know that there's people dumber than me. No one prettier though. No one prettier though. Oh, shut your face. Will not. So come back for the nun. It's on HBO. It's th. We th. We th. Starting point is 00:48:07 Will not! So come back for the Nunn. It's on HBO if you got the HBO. It's probably somewhere else if you don't. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure it's on the other streamers. You probably own the DVD is your... When you buy your Conjuring Box Set? We got to do that Megan movie at some point.
Starting point is 00:48:21 Tell you what, Alan. I know, I saw. I know, I was dazzled by it. I was like, it's just a girl Chuckie. She's actually, if you look at it as like female child's play, it's really fucking fun. Female child's play. Yeah. I'm not opposed to seeing it. I think it looks fun.
Starting point is 00:48:42 I honestly don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much if it wasn't in a movie theater though, you know? I get so dazzled by the big screen. And like by being able to put your feet up at Waterworks, yeah, yeah, yeah. If you sit like, you can have both arm wrists. I'm still blown away that I be falling asleep in lazy boy armchair. Yeah, it's really your destiny, isn't it? Alright, so come back for Sister Irene and Frenchy and let's talk about the fucking none.
