Written by the same gentleman who wrote your favorite movie that we've done so far. I know what you did last summer. This is a much better entry into his oovra. For sure. Well, you had self-proclaimed to hate this movie, so where did you wind up on it after seeing it again?

I liked it. Arms outstretched, high-fiving God. I just high-fived God. I mean, it's not bad. It's two hours, which is absurd. Put it away, like no one needs to be two hours. Put the movie away, you know what I mean? Put it to bed.

saw this, which is Drew Barrymore in her house being basically stocked by a killer on the phone. She's adorable 90s Drew Barrymore. She's got that great hair cut which I'm sure is a wig. Oh yeah, 100% wig. When the dude is wearing it later when she gets tossed, it's pretty great. Yeah. Most of my notes are about the scene, actually. The first one says, remember landlines? And then I remember that you still have one in your house. I do. It's like an antique, it's a relic. Yeah.

And it's funny because the landline is predominant in this movie and everyone's like, you've got a cell phone? What a cell phone? They all say cellular phone too. They're like, what are you doing with a cellular phone, son? He's like, everybody has one. Like, no, they do not. Skeet all right. Not Johnny Debt. You're 100% sure that year. Yeah that spring I

think and they started filming this like at the same time the craft was coming out. You would have been what? Twelve? Twelve? Twelve. And did you see this theatrically? I think I'd know, no. I think I still have it on this movie on VHS also, but I remember like watching it in one of their basements and being like This opening scene because it is really pretty scary. I found myself like a little confused the opening scene. I really liked it this time, or? I liked it. He did that in Last House on the Left Lot and like Freddy, obviously, going back and forth between the quips and then this. It was almost like, it was going too fast. I was like, I don't know what you're doing. Is this scene, you realize that this killer is outside her house. She yells out, who's there? And he on the phone says, you never yell who's there.

You might as well come out here to investigate a strange noise or something, which is like, you know, a jab at horror movie, thrown. the ththere's also the little jab at horror fanboys which like who's the killer in Friday the 13th it's like it's definitely Jason it's just like. It's definitely Jason it's Jason it's like no it was Ja'is' they's mom and I tab the job at West Craven to direct this movie and I wonder if he read that and was like, fuck you! But then later in the movie? He's Freddy Fuckin' Krueger.

What is he doing in that scene? Like that's where things I feel start to go downhill with the heavy-handedness. Like until that point it was okay. And then Wes Craven wearing a red and green sweater, mobbing a floor named Fred. Like I just couldn't with that. I realized also that I've seen the first scary movie. Oh yeah, that spoofs this pretty heavily. And I think like, I think on some level, I've combined those two films in my memory.

So like that kind of shit in it, and maybe I'm right. Maybe I'm right. Maybe they were both both both both both both both both boththe fact that the costume was like available in any Walgreens across the country after this movie came out definitely dumbed it down but at the time the first time I saw it that ghost face mask I thought was pretty scary. top like one of the top billings in this movie and she's she's a known commodity at that point so for them to kill her off it was it sort of set this tone that like anybody can die you know which no one is safe. Would you say she was the biggest star in this movie at the time? Um? Or was Courtney Cox?? Courtney Cox probably, because Friends was at like a fever pitch at this point. Okay, yeah, yeah. Courtney Cox is so good in this movie. I forgot about it. Or maybe I just never recognized it because I didn't see this as an adult, but like, she's so good in this.

I do like that amidst all of the blood and pokes at the horror industry, it's like a pretty good who done it.

You know, anybody, it really seems like it could be anybody. And nobody has like a clear motive until the the end. This being the second time that I've seen it, knowing that those two are the killers. Yeah. Upon second viewing, you can see that the two of them are just like staring at the camera the whole time. There's the, they're saying they're going to get the boob shot in Halloween and the scream bad guy, ghost face killer, which I guess we should not call him because that's probably trademarked, is attacking her and he has cut the phone line. So she runs over to her computer and emails 911? She didn't have wireless. That's what I didn't know. How can you have no phone and have internet in 1996? Am I missing something?

Nope. Okay. Also, is she a hacker? Because who the fuck knows how to do that in 1996? Well, I looked at it, I paused it, and it's like on deaf talk type or something? It's like a deaf person. Oh, but why would she have that pulled up on her computer? She is a hearing person.

May I bring up my most They were cute, yeah. At one point in the movie, she says that she doesn't watch horror movies. She hates them. Yeah, doesn't enjoy them. And then later in the movie, she gets out of a car when everyone's fleeing the town center and she goes, huh, looks like the town that dreaded sundown. Very obscure. What the fuck? Yeah, I don't like, I don't know if they thought that was too obscure or if it was just to make like David Arquette's

character looks stupid or he's like I saw that it was about a killer in Texas. Like yeah it was. I know why are you explaining the joke to me? It was that Kevin Williamson just being like, I'm gonna drop a deep cut in their head. I'm gonna drop a deep the deep a deep a deep a deep the the the the the th. I th. I th. I th. I'm th. I'm th.
