Katie, Alan. I have a question for you. I've hopefully an answer for you.
I've hopefully an answer for you. In the horror wars, the ongoing horror wars by production companies.
Yes.
Is A24 winning over Blue Mouse?
I've, hopefully, an answer for you.
In the horror wars, the ongoing horror wars by production companies, is A24 winning
over Blue Mouse? Not financially, well maybe financially, they put some big
grossing movies. Yeah. Not in terms of quantity, that's for sure, but in terms of
quality, hell yeah. And they're not ruining beloved franchises. You can't ruin something
that already exists, right?
Isn't that our stance that you can always go back
and enjoy the old thing?
For sure, for sure.
Although Metallica is really trying to get me
to not like Early Metallica.
No, Metallica is the exception that proves the rule,
I have not seen five nights at Freddy's yet, and I do think it looks very very tha, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that's, that's, thi, that's, thi, thi, thi, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that because those animatronics like that is picking it something very like specific to my
childhood. For sure. You know, yeah yeah I didn't have an an anemotronics in my
child like Chuck E. Cheese was like... That fucking band? Wasn't that there another one besides Chuck Echise too? Not here I don't know? theychees too? that the the. Oh is it? I didn't know that. I just thought that it was Bloom House. Yeah. Yeah, but a mom at the bus stop
told me that her daughter was really into it and I was like a very fun kid's. Oh it's for kids? Yeah. It's like a yeah. It's not like a super scary. Okay. Because a mom at the bus stop that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. that. that that that that that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, all right.
What's your daughter?
Yeah.
But that's not here or talk.
Well, we are here to talk about A24 winning the Horror Wars.
Yes, they are absolutely winning.
Yeah.
But, uh, we're here to talk about Australian movie. But yeah, Australian horror always fucks me up. Yeah. And this movie was recommended to me by my friend Taylor, who was like,
I have to warn you, there's a little bit of brutal stuff in it.
So Australian plus Brutal immediately took me back to loved ones.
Oh, sure.
And I was like, no, no, I can't handle it.
Yeah. And then we.
great. No. And then Australian emberto. Yeah. And then I watched this and I was like, oh you sweet baby. You have no idea the horrors I've seen. Hey nobody get nail
gun to the floor of this one. No, I'm being forced to slow dance. I mean it is upsetting.
Oh my god. Yeah. I know I can't wait to talk about it. It opens on a big old party. You remember parties like this? Yeah. No me. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I the the the the the the the the the the they. I they. I they. I they. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I they. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Yeah. I th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I th. I th. Yeah. I the. I the. I the. I th a big old party. You remember parties like this? Yeah. You know me either.
Yeah. I remember going up to them borderline blackout drunk. Yeah. Yeah. You had to be
to get there. Entering blackout drunk while at the party. Yeah. Yeah. So that's what I remember of them.
Do you remember how bored rappers sound these days? That is such a bummer. Um, um, um, uh, guys, come on, pick it up. You're a rap artist. Yeah, and it's
like, you just listen to the energetic rap of the 90s and 2000s. How did we get here?
I don't mean to be like kids these days, but fucking kids these days.
Well, I just remember thinking like,
juvenile and shit like that,
like the Southern rap that was coming,
I was like, oh, they're so slow, and they're so laid back.
Yes.
And now the kids are like, oh, really?
Hold my cough medicine with Cody?
Wayludes?
The kids don't like quay looots. Oh, kids a lot of lude. th th th th th th th th thu th thu thu th. thu thu thu th. th. th. th. th. thu, th. thu, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, that, thi, they's, that, thus, they're they're so they're so they're so slow, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's they's they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so they're so. My first notice, I bet this movie is too cool for school.
And what did you mean by that?
Uh, then it's just going to be a hip-coo movie.
Okay.
Did you feel that at the end that it was a hip-cold movie?
No, I felt like it was very much an off-my-elly kind of horrible.
Yeah, okay, you were expecting, threptptptrept. pretend it's just like coolness like cool like a cool movie give me an example of a cool movie I don't know what's cool kids these days and what not
I don't know if I have an example in mind okay but just like I don't know what
I was expecting what I got out of this movie even from watching the trailer I would
like I think this movie actually harkens back
to like early Gothic literature in a lot of ways.
Sure, sure.
Like it's very MR.
Jams, that kind of stuff.
Yeah, I can see that.
John Blackwood.
So yes, we start off at the party with some lazy wraps, and a kid is walking around looking for his brother Duckett. Where's Duckett? I was imagining was like the down under version of
Where's Waldo and his brother was gonna show up with like a red and white
straight shirt? What do they call it? Where's Wally? Is that what it is in? Yes, yeah, where's Wally? There's a mom at this party which I thought was weird? She's like chopping, yeah she's like chopping crudethe in the kitchen. Like what, did you have you seen what's happening outside? Cool mom?
You are a cool mom. I would not be that kind of cool mom because I understand liability.
Cool mom was like the like buy a six pack for 10 of your friends.
Yeah. Cool mom not like throw a, I don't know what drugs the kids do these days? I imagine they have letter names like the the the the the the the the th.. the kids like. the kids. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. that's the the is tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that's tho tho that's tho that's that's that's that's that's that's throw a, I don't know what drugs the kids do these days?
I imagine they have letter names, like the kids are doing some R.
But I don't know what R is.
I'm so messed up on hell right now.
Yeah, I mean, that's probably real.
But yeah, the, the, this kid's looking for Duckett, and he's just wandering around, they're like, Duckets in Jaden's room. Why don't you th you th you th you th you th you th you th you th you they they th you th you th you th you th you th, the, the, this kid's looking for Duckett and he just wandered around,
they're like, Duckett's in Jadon's room, why don't you calm him down?
Why don't you take care of him?
That's like all Jadon.
Jadon and Duckett.
So Duckett won't open the door so his brother, so his brother shoulders, their brother,
shoulders it down. Yeah. to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which, to which I. Yeah, to which I to to to to to to to to to the the to the the the the the the the the the the the, the, the, the, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why. Yeah, why. Yeah, why. Yeah, why. Yeah, why. Yeah, why. Yeah, to to to th. Yeah. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. thoom. thoom. thoooooooooooooooom?. t toda. today. today. today. today. today. toe. toe. toe. the. t... Yeah. And he and his brother both have the same
haircut, which I liked a lot. The Australian. Yeah. He duck it. His shirtless and his back is
covered in scrapes. Yeah, he's been whipped or something. Yes. And he says, can you see them?
They're in here. Yeah. Who's he talking about? I don't know. So his brother's like, well, I'm getting you the fuck in here. Yeah. Well, who's he talking about? I don't know.
So his brother's like, well, let's, I'm getting you the fuck out of here.
And everyone's filming him when he leaves and I just thought, my God, I'm so glad I didn't
grow up in an era of social media and I'm so worried for my child.
Yeah, it's awful.
Yeah. Then I wondered if he stabbed his brother in the shoulder. Yeah. And then everyone's like, holy
fuck. And then he goes outside and stabs himself in the fucking face. Brutal. To
which I wrote, okay, here we go. And we get the talk to me. Yes. Splash. Now we're at a different funeral, or wake.
Yeah. Well, I guess it ends up being sort of like a remembrance for Mia's mother.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Is that a thing people do?
I don't, I've never experienced that.
If I die, have my fun funeral and then never speak of me again.
No, come on.
Come with now.
Come with now.
I've said enough. And her mom sister wants to talk to her.
Yeah.
Say that word.
I know how it offends you.
What is her mom sister?
Her aunt. And we see her dad is trying to talk to her, but he's never in focus.
Right.
Which I really liked of like, he's just not in her life.
He's also American and I thought maybe that's why.
You think if you're in Australia and American, you're like a sesquatch and they just can't
film you.
Yeah, I think you kind of mess up the lens somehow. Or like they can't see you right, like she's opening one eye and closing it and opening
the other.
It's like, I don't know, he's just so blurry.
Trying to flip your eyelids inside.
Yeah.
The other hemispheres and what the the therears and what not. But she gets a call from her, what the thi, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, to, the, the, the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, like, and, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and, like, and, and, and, and, to, to, and, the, the, the, the, the, the, to, to, the, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they. And, they. And, like, like, they her to come pick him up. Yeah. He's on the, sitting on the curb with his friend.
Yeah.
I cannot believe kid mullets are back.
Oh sure.
What did we do to deserve this again?
Have we learned nothing?
We've learned nothing.
Again, it's, hipsters did this.
Yeah. They brought it back, they brought back mustaches and mullets ironically. Ironically. And then everyone went, yeah, looking like Jose Canseco in the 90s is a good idea.
I mean, he was a good looking at him.
Who did I want?
Who's the mulleted mustache baseball player?
Fuck!
Mark McGuire?
Maybe, maybe.
Maybe.
Anyway.
Darrell Strawberry.
No, he's a cocaine reference. Saying your own mom is off eating
dick is a wild thing to say though. This kid sucks so bad. I love this kid so
fucking but I fear that I was this kid. Yeah I feel like you might have been a
James. Like look smoking's bad for you but it's all so cool so what are we meant to do?
He also calls Riley a fetus?
He's like, you're a fucking fetus.
And I was like, that is such a good bust.
That's mean.
You're not even a baby.
You're not even born.
You're a fetus.
So, Mia comes and picks up Riley.
Yeah.
And they're having fun in the car, yelling to scream, to probably Taylor Swift, I don't know.
I do know this one.
Oh, is it Taylor Swift?
No, it's Cia.
Cia.
Is she the one with the funny hair?
Yeah, okay.
I wish you could see the hand gesture, Alan just did to represent Cia's hair.
I think her bags cover most of her face and shea.
Yeah, yeah. I've seen her. See, look, we we know, we th people, like mullets and Sia and smoking.
Taylor Swift.
Which I wrote, I really am going to quit again.
But there's something in the road.
Oh, yeah, it's muleing and crying.
It's a messed up kangaroo.
Yeah.
I always just assumed everyone out there kept a kangaroo club in their trunk.
Oh, do you have a deer club in your trunk? Um, no, but deer aren't like pests the way kangaroos are, are they?
Yeah.
I mean, I don't have a problem with deer.
In the city?
Of course they are.
I don't have a problem with them.
They're not fucking up my stuff.
Yeah, but I've hit them with my car.
Oh, sure.
Yeah. I think kangaroos actively is right now that are fucking shit up actively.
What do you mean?
There is a pot of killer whales that in the Mediterranean are sinking ships.
I love that for them.
There are otters in the Northwest, Pacific Northwest.
Not the specific Northwest.
No, it's also specifically the North West.
Really? That's a specific Northwest. That's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's a the. It's a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. There is is is is is. There is. There is. There is a th. There is a th. There is a th. There is a th. There is a th. What is a th. What is a th. It's a thi. It's a thi. It's a the. It's. It's. It's a todd. It's. the. theat. It's a the. It's a fucking family circus cartoon specific Northwest Bobby.
That's right Bobby.
That are attacking swimmers.
Oh, see, I always thought otters were good guys.
Yeah, they are good guys.
Why can't people stop?
We're not the heroes in this story.
Swimmers aren't hurting anybody.
Okay, then I suppose you'll never get in the water again.
Oh, no, I'm not saying I'm the bad guy in this situation and I will be swimming again.
There you go.
But I just love the animals like, yeah, you know what?
Fuck it.
Yeah.
It's on.
Well, me as a response to this sad kangaroo
is that she thinks she should run it over.
It's a big. car. Put it out of its misery. Like I don't think I could run it over either but I could call animal control because that's what you do when you find a wounded animal. You call
animal control and they come out and handle it. It's not your responsibility. That's not
your civic duty. You vote, you pay your taxes. You don't have to run over kangaroos
on the road with your car. Whatever. You don't have to go get a samurai sword and chop their heads off? No, you don't have to do that.
That's not part of the social contract.
Anyway, she gets home and we see the dog Cookie,
which is a great name for that dog.
Oh my god, that dog.
And then when I paused this movie,
I was watching it on Amazon Prime so it brought up the tapapapap of tap of tap of tap of tap of to to to to to to to to to to the the too the too the the too the the the the too the the the t. D-B page. Her name is really Cookie. Oh, Cookie. Cookie's a great dog.
We should say, we should say she does not run over the kangaroo.
She does not run over the kangaroo.
She just drives away from it.
And Riley's like, oh, you should have run it over it's really sad.
It's like, could you have handled that? I had a squirrel once, and the feeling, and the feeling of bumping over it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it, it, it, it, it, it, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, she, she, she, she, she does, she does, she does, she does, she does not th th tooo, toooo, tog.g. to, she does, she does to, th th th th thi. She does not th th th of its misery. But then you're also going to have kangaroo all over your underside.
You got kangaroo on your underside all the time.
I don't have kangaroo on my underside.
Have you ever eaten kangaroo?
It's pretty good.
Pretty lean, kind of gamey.
Yeah, where have you eaten kangaroo?
You can buy it in the strip at the meat. What? Human flesh? The most exotic of meats.
Uh,
I just feel like the, the whole, like when she gets back to the house and they're hitting
the other sister with pillows.
Very cute.
It's just very cute.
Like, singing in the car, instantly endearing me to somebody.
Yeah.
And then pillow fighting is also going to do the same among siblings. Yeah. And that's where we figure out that Riley is indeed
not her brother, but her best friends brother. Right and she is apparently
living with them. Yeah. Yeah. And their mother is that lady from Lord of the
rings. Yeah, Aowin. Miranda Otto. Um, Sue in this movie who's just out here doing her god damn best. Yeah. Yeah. And I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. And I th. And I th. And I th. And I th. And I th. And I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that th. that th. that's that's th. th. th. th. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really, th. Really, th. Really, th. Really, th. Really, th. Really, th. Really, th. Really, th. Really, thi thi thi. Really, th. th. Really, th. Really, th. Really, th. Um, Sue in this movie, who's just out here doing her
goddamn best. Yeah. Yeah. And I was like, holy shit. You're 20 years older than
New Yorker Rings movies now. Yeah, that was a long time ago. She was a young woman then. Yeah.
She's yelling at Riley to get his stuff off the, uh, his homework off the dining room table, but he appears to be reading a textbook about moths, which I thought th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi thi thi thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. to thi. to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. table, but he appears to be reading a textbook about moths, which I thought was interesting.
I thought maybe that's what they teach in Australia.
Doesn't she say, get your fucking books off the table?
Something like that, but said with love.
Yeah, she's a great mom.
So big fan.
Big fan.
Jade asks her if she's going to bed when you're sneaking out, which I thought was very funny. Yeah. And then she says, make sure to lock the door when you leave. Yeah. They're meeting up with Daniel,
who is Jade's boyfriend. Who hasn't kissed her yet? And his Mia's ex. But they just seemingly held hands.
Yeah. But she really wants to get her Gucci touched by him. Oh, that's gross. I don't like that at all.
Have we gone on to Gucci from Gucci?
I feel like that's copyright infringement or trademark infringement, isn't it?
So they meet up with Daniel and they go to this party?
Yeah, at Haley's house, and Haley sucks.
Haley sucks hugely.
And one of the downfalls of this movie to me
is that Haley does not get theirs.
Like, you're waiting for Haley to get theirs the entire time.
Yeah, I have the note that just says Haley is the local dick.
Haley is absolutely the local dick. And they bring Riley with the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is thi, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, is thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. And, is thi, is them, right? When they sneak out. Yes. Mia invites him along.
Right.
Yeah.
So it's Haley and this guy Joss, who I don't know is 30?
Why is he?
Is he older?
Is he just more mature?
I think, yeah.
I think he's just a big teen.
Okay, big teen.
Big teen jaws. They have a hand. Yeah. They're party trick. It's a hand. One of them says it's my fucking hand. Duckett gave it to me. Yeah. So they've all been doing this thing and filming it and Mia volunteers to do it. Yeah we've seen all these films of like teens being held up by other teams, teens as they're like wide-eyed and shaking and drooling and like,
they're like, ha, hilarious party game. Yeah, it feels like the choking game for the modern supernatural audience.
What's the choking game? You know where you have your friend choke you until you're almost unconscious?
Yeah. What? That was a popular? It was a popular, it was after my time. I was just just like the the ch the ch the ch the ch the ch the ch the ch. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. tha. tha. thi. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's. Yeah. It's. It's. It's. Like. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the it was after my time. I was just thinking of a light as a feather stiff as a board.
Oh no, no, the choking game's about getting high.
Oh, yeah.
You know, they just have drugs, kid.
Just do drugs!
The MaxiPads wrote a song in which the chorus was I don't do drugs, let's go play the choking
game.
Drugs and not hugs, let's go play the choking game game.
sense. Let's go play the choking game. Yeah, this song's called choking game. So they're like who wants to volunteer and Mia jumps up and she's like I want
to volunteer. I'm the socially awkward kid who no one seems to like in this town.
Why would she do this to herself knowing she'll be filmed? Okay.
So they tie her to like a lazy boy chair? Yes. The hand looks cool. It looks great. Yeah. Yeah. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi. thi's so th. tho. tho. tho. tho. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. So. th. th. So. So. th. So. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, thi. So thi. So thi. So thi. thi. ti. ti. ti. tie. tie. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi hand looks cool. It looks great. Yeah. Yeah. It's sort of in a
handshake gesture I guess that that you can like clasp its palm. Right. It's like fingers are
spayed like it's reaching out to you and it's covered in people's names and phrases.
Like help me. Yeah. And they were told that it can only go on for 90 seconds
because after that they want to stay. Yeah. Yeah. So they light a candle to
open the door. And then she has to clasp the hand and say talk to me. Yeah. And what
happens when she does? She sees an old ass man. Yeah. And they're like, yeah, it's someone different. Every time. So she pulls her hand away and th. And then then th. And then th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. th. the th. thi. the thi. they's their thi. they're they're like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the they. they. they. they. they. the they. the they. they. And, the they. And, they. they. they. the the they it's someone different every time. So she pulls her hand away and then does it again. Yeah. And it's this woman who
looks like she's drowned. Yeah, she seemed wet. Wet to me. Yeah. And her one
eyes like bulging out of her head and she's like looking around like freaking out.
Yes. I love these effects. And she has to say I let you in. Yeah and she does it. And then slams back back back around around around around around the the the the the the the the the th in the the the the the th in the the the the the the the the the the the th in th in th in th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. Yeah. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th., I let you in. Yeah, and she does it. Yeah, and then slams back in the chair with her head lulling.
Yeah, the hand tightens.
She falls backwards.
And everyone is just laughing and filming.
Like, how is everyone laughing at this?
It is insane.
Yeah. It is insane.
But I like this because it's just, yeah.
Yeah, this is just the thing that happens here. In this fiction that we're doing, this is what happens. Like, it's wild.
It's wild.
It is insane.
Yeah, yeah.
And so she points it in an empty chair and says, there he is.
And looks at Riley and says, they like you, and then barks at Daniel.
Yeah, I like all of that. And she's like laughing, thrown. And she's like, thi. thi. th. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeeea. thi. thi. theea. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th on her are great, but she's also so good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And there's like a door that opens and then slam shut at one point?
Yeah, and they're all fine with this! Yeah! What? And she says, they'll split you to the brother?
He's behind you now, He'll split you pretty boy
And then just keeps yelling run over and over and over again And won't let go of the hand until they take the hand away from her. Yeah, and she says
Amazing! Right, it's she's gone a little over the 90 seconds. I feel like they should maybe plan to tap it at say like 75 seconds to plan for these types of contingencies. That does not happen.
They're teens.
They're not contingency planning.
But yeah, she loved it, and they are cheering for her.
And for some reason, there's a framed child's drawing
of a monster or something.
I don't know.
And he's, Riley is freeely, I'm the thii. He's like 12. Yeah. He is a sweet little baby boy. Yeah.
And also this is horrifying.
Yeah.
As a 50-year-old man, it'd be like, get the fuck out of here.
All of you need to leave the house right now and we have to burn the house down.
And they, is this when they tell her that there's there's been no questions on how this
works at this point right so but they get back to the house yeah and Riley can't
sleep and he ends up under storm yes he ends up getting into her sofa bed
with her because his sister rejects him yeah yeah I think when he
opens the door she's sitting there with all the lights on on her phone he goes
are you away are you away? They're talking about nightmares,
and Mia says she has a recurring nightmare
where she looks in the mirror
and her reflection is gone.
Yeah.
Think that'll come back?
Nope.
Nope.
Did I just realize right now
that it indeed does come back?
Yep.
And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, he's like, how'd your mom die? Which seems like a weird time to bring it up. Yeah. Yeah. We find out that her mother OD'd on sleeping pills.
Accidentally.
This whole thing is the dad's fault.
Oh my God, it's so awful.
This is why you have to be honest with your kids.
It's so awful. She says that her mother's body was found with scratches on the door and wood, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to to to tho, tho, to tho, thi, to thi, to thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their.., their thi, thi, thi, toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, their, their their against the door and was trying to get out of her room to get help.
Ugh. Yeah. And then Riley says, Jade said you got depression after. Yeah, she fucking got depression
after you dip shit. But it's also such like a cute little kid doesn't understand the world.
I think he's like 14. Really? Yeah because they say it when later in the movie when before he does the hand thing, his
sister's like, you're not even 15 yet.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
So, I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Uh, he's going to sleep watching.
He's a millionaire.
So when he was watching.
Yeah. So we see Jade's the hand, J J J J J j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. then like a gross hand pass his head.
But that's just like just an off thing that they just throw out there and they
move on. Yeah I love it. Oh my God. The next day we learn that Daniel wants a turn.
Daniel's ultra Christian we're told right and they don't kiss. So mom is trying, they're there Daniel comes over to hang out and mom's trying to figure out out if out if out if out if they out if they out if they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're to they're they're to they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they'rerying, they're, Daniel comes over to hang out and mom's trying to figure out
if they're going to have a party.
She's just how you're doing her best, saying stuff like you are not drinking tonight on
God I will punch you in the face.
I love Sue.
Yes, I love Sue.
And she says, my daughter's vagina, off limits. So Haley and Joss come over. Yeah, and I think, and I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi, and I thi, and I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, and I thi, I th vagina, off limits. Yeah, so embarrassing.
So Haley and Joss come over, and I think a few other people,
including your guy James,
love him.
Mollet baby.
And they, Daniel does, right?
Yeah, and he gets super freaked out by it.
This is where we learned that it's the hand of a psychic or medium,
embalmed and covered in ceramic.
Gotcha.
He starts choking, Daniel does.
They're like not real concerned?
Because they're, apparently this has happened before.
Because some of the videos we saw people were choking.
Okay, okay.
Okay.
And Hayden and Joss are likeest him, you make him soft.
And someone says the spirit is a cunt, which I liked.
And then starts like air-humping.
He starts heavy breathing at Mia.
Yeah, falls on the floor.
He starts to hump the rug.
And the dog's like, I do that too and starts making out with him. I loved that for Cookie. Cookie was like I
speak this language. That actor had to make out with that dog for so fucking
long. It's really gross. I feel like he should have gotten extra pay.
And his face was obviously covered in something to entice the dog to keep looking at him.
Yeah he definitely had like a peanut butter mustache. And he immediately when he comes to he's like
don't post that. Yeah. And Haley's like post that shit because Haley is the
worst. Poor cookie gets banned. Because Mia wants to do it and she says get that
thought dog out of here. Yes she does call it a thought dog. Yeah, well I just thought thought that thought that you that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th th tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thooooo. thooo-a. thooo-to-to-to-toda. that that that that that that that that think real hard about. That hoe over there, dog? Yeah, well I just thought, thought, you know, like a thought that you have in your brain.
Anyway, she's singing in French, which is very cool.
Yeah, when she goes back under, and it's like terrifying.
Terrifying. She's very good. She is.
She really is. Daniel does it again, to his credit. I don't think I'd ever do it again after that and the dog is a whimpering outside the room
Which I didn't know if that was meant to be like the dog warning them of the damage they're doing or the dog being like
Anemone the sech please. They're horny out here
and the kids are like there's like a montage of the kids all doing the hand and they all have the best time the the ti ti ti the ti ti ti ti ti ti ti ti the the the the ti toy the the toy the toy toy the the the the the the the their the their their the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their toy. toy. toy te tea tea tea toda tea to to today to to to today their their their the montage of the kids all doing the hand.
And they all have the best time.
They love doing the hand.
The hand is their favorite thing ever.
It's kind of like whip it's really when you get down to it.
It's like wejj wip it's.
Yeah. Yeah.
Because at one point I was like, why Yeah. I don't know, though. If you saw someone do a Wi-Gi-Board and that happened to them,
do you think you'd be like, my turn?
Because I don't think I would.
What if it's just the best high, man?
I don't know.
That's what I heard about, the room. And he says, Riley says something to Mia about like, why can't you be on my side
for once? And I thought like it seems like she's always on your side, you little shit. So
he, they come to a compromise if he can be under for 50 seconds. Yeah. So now he's choking.
And uh, I have a note that just says, this is going to go poorly.
Oh, of course it is.
And he is Mia's mom.
He's saying things like, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you, I miss you so, so much.
So, I've talked about this ad nauseum on the show of the ways that like, parent, becoming
a mother has changed the way I interact with horror.
This was so fucking hard to watch especially as like someone who's obviously
been very open about talking about struggling with depression and like what
that you imagine what that would look like you know uh
A-24 they really know how to put their finger in my mom hole and pool at it. Australia too. This is this is the country. This is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country is the country the country the country. You this is the way. You the way. You the way. You really know how to put their finger in my mom hole and pull at it.
Australia, too.
This is the country that brought you Lake Mungo.
Fuck, dude.
That messed me up.
Mm-hmm.
You were recently watching it on Shutter.
It's a good movie.
How do you just dip in and out of Lake Mungo?
the way to look at it is it's like I don't want to listen to a whole album I'm just
going to listen to a couple songs.
With Lake Mungo.
These are all like sort of concept albums you know.
Yeah, sure but you know, it's progues.
Hits or hits.
You're right.
So yeah, her mom is saying stuff like I love you.
I'm so proud of you.
And then what happens?
Everything's fine.
Riley walks out of the room and nothing bad happens to Riley.
And the credits are all.
Riley proceeds to beat the shit out of himself.
Start slamming his face into the table, which is so hard to watch.
It's so brutal.
The special effects are great.
I don't, the special effects are great, I don't know if they're CGI or what? I don't know how they're doing it, but I'm loving it. Fantastic, because I think it's CGI when they go under and like the texture of their
skin changes.
Yes.
They get like real sallow and just like gross looking.
Yeah.
But yeah, he's like splitting his head open.
Because they him. Right. And he has split his skull, yamming it into a shelf or something.
Into the coffee table in front of him.
And then we see him reach up to rip out his own eye.
So upsetting.
Yeah.
And then they basically like are trying to restrain him,
and the chair slides across the room
and he starts banging his head again. Yeah. So fucking brutal. So good. It's great. As far as brutality of a child
goes, it's great. And I just feel like for Mia, like, yeah, look what you did, dude. Take a
look at what you mean. Yes, it is her fault. All of it is her fault. Actually, all of it is her
the dad's fault. If he had just shown her that letter, if he had just helped her to understand. Yeah, before
her mind was completely broken. Yeah. She wouldn't have been fooled by this, you
know, or maybe I don't know who cares. So she is totally understandably shook.
Yeah. And I love the thing of like we see see all this activity behind her, and she's like barely cognizant of anything going on.
Right, like Joss and Haley are getting their stories straight behind her and like, yeah.
And the cops have shown up. Right, but she sees a woman through the glass of the door. Yeah, who's a woman?
It's her mom. It's definitely your mom. Also poor Sue. Oh, Oh my god. I can't even imagine. No. Like, how, uh, geez.
So, Mia gets questioned by the cops and then dad takes her home.
Yes.
And...
And...
She says to him...
Oh, sorry, go.
No, go.
No, you.
She tells him, she says to him that he's withholding information about her mother. Yeah, I don't know how she knows that, but she knows it.
Is it the demon? The ghost insider?
Yeah, I guess because like just the whole thing of like it being an accident, her,
the ghost telling her that it was an accidental overdose and she would never leave her.
Right, but that reinforces taken the hand at this point.
Like, dude, how are you going to use that by yourself?
Yeah.
And then she goes to the hospital?
Yeah, and Sue and Jade don't want her there.
Yeah, understandably.
Yeah. see you and I was like maybe don't look at these other people they're having the worst day of their life. You don't just go to the hospital and wander around
staring to people. It's great people watching there in intensive care. She's
seeing visions of her mom walking around. Pretty spooky, pretty good. Yeah.
Yeah. She follows but she's seeing her only seeing her mom in reflection.
Right. Oh I didn't think of that but you're right. Okay so and she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she she's but she's but she's but she's but she's but she's s s s she's s s s s s s s she's but she's she's s s s s s s s s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. She's s. She's seen. She's seen. She's s. She's s. She's seen. She's s. She's s. But she's s. But she's seen. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. But she's s. She's s. She's only seeing her mom in reflection. Right. Oh, I didn't think of that, but you're right.
Okay.
So and she follows her mom into a bathroom
where she hears scratching on a stall door.
That's interesting, she only sees her mom in reflection
because of the thing of her not having, yeah, so it's like she's halfway in now.
Okay, got it. I love that. That just gave me the shivers. Yeah, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. And Daniel. And Daniel. And Daniel. And Daniel. And Daniel. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's, that's that's. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. And Daniel drives her home. Yes. And then
he can't go home because his parents think he's staying at Steve's house or whatever. Right.
So she's like, you can just stay at my house. To which I wrote, oh man, you're just betraying Jade left and right.
Yeah, but there's still friends. Nothing's happening. I don't know. And he says to her Mia. What the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck th f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f th that's that's th th that's that's th th th th th th th th. th. th. thi thi that's th. Yeah. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, hea. Yeah, hea. Yeah, hea. Yeah, you hea. Yeah, you he's he's he's he's he's he. Yeah, you he's th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th.'t know. And he says to her, Mia, what's wrong? I mean, what the fuck do you think, Daniel? But it's cool because she just, you know,
lays in the bed, watching dead mom videos with this guy. Yes. Well, poor Jade is just out there in the
rain watching her mom smoke in the car, and then she gets in the car and tries to take her mom's hand and she like wrenches it away.
Heartbreaking.
Poor, poor Jade.
Yeah.
And Sue.
And Sue.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But yeah, this movie, this is like the teens make bad choices for bad reasons the film.
As Mia rubs up against Daniel's leg in the bed. Yeah, but I remember thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, and th, and thi, thi, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and tho, and th, th, th, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thro, thro, thro. throoooooooooooo. And, and theeeeeeeat, tho. And, but I remember those like weird furtive
touches when you were young and stuff that were like, this is forbidden. Forbidden.
But suddenly the bed is upright and she's standing. Yeah. I liked that. They're making out.
Yeah. And she's seeing stuff and you realize she's in a dream. There's banging on the door and it's like her dad trying to get her mom out
and he gets the mom out into the hallway and she looks awful.
Yeah, and then both mom and dad turned to her and they have fucking dead eyes and
they're staring at her.
Yeah, that's a bad dream.
I hate this dream. Yeah, I think so.
And then there's some like eyes in the corner of her room.
Yes.
And the lady walks towards them and starts sucking on Daniel's toes?
And Mia's trying to wake Daniel up, and when he does wake up, what happens?
She's sucking on his toes.
She's sucking on them chilly dogs. I wish you would stop saying that to me. It's just like you this is
all no good. All this is no no no good. No no good. Come back from you won't go with
me sucking on your toes. Like there's no coming back from that. That's a salt. But you can't
do that. Everything's done. You're done. You can never look that person in the face. they hang out later. It's fine. To which I wrote, where is her dad while this is happening? How does he not know that Daniels
in their getting his toe is sucked on? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. This whole movie is very upsetting.
It's exactly like how I feel about hereditary that I thought it was a great movie and I'll never, ever, ever watch it again, ever as long as I live.
Yeah.
Does that have an Australian connection to you?
Tony Colette?
Tony Colette?
She's Australian.
Australian or New Zealand?
Oh, they're Australian.
Oh, they're Australian?
Are they Australian?
Are they Australian? They were definitely not Australian.
Am I Australian?
Hold on, let me.
No.
No, I'm not Australian.
No.
Oh, Katie.
Oh, no.
Noy.
So she does it again on around the hand thing.
Yeah.
Mom shows up all dead looking.
And at this point you.
And at this point you're like, look that's not your mom, whatever that
thing is, is just trying to manipulate you. Yeah. It's got super puffy lips. You
like that though because you love super puffy lips? And they're like pussy puffy?
Oh that's not what you like. No. You're more of a Tom Hardy type.
I just want a lip you can like take a little nap on. I don't want some sort of wet pustule. Pillow up on here.
This is rough though.
She's having this conversation with her mom's ghost.
Like, did you kill yourself?
And she's like, no, not on purpose.
You're just like, do you remember that scene?
the final girl or final girls, whatever it was called,
the camp onethat her mom was in the movie. Then when she sits up in the back scene, she's just looking at her, like, broke my fucking heart.
That's how I feel now.
Well, also before she does the hand thing,
she beats the shit out of herself.
Yes, she does.
It's like, smacking herself in the face and in the head in a very upsetting way, that if you saw someone doing, you're, that, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th...... thi, thi, thi. That's, thi. That's thi. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's terrible is happening right now. Right. And while she's coming out or going in, there's like this bubbling water sound?
Yeah. Which is extremely spooky and I don't know why. I don't know what it's referencing. I don't know what it means, but it's scaring me.
I think it's that that just uncanniness of it should not be happening. Okay. There's no way there bubbling noises. That's very true. And why are their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their their their their their their their their their their their their thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their their their their their their bu-bubling. their bububling. their bumbling their bumbling thi. thi. thi. there should be bubbling noises. That's very true. And why are there bubbling noises?
Maybe it's just your blood in your brain,
because you're doing whip-its.
And that, that, wow, wo-wo-w, woe-w.
That sound is not your computer.
But so, so the mom tells her that Riley needs help.
And then she ends up going to bed with her dead mom spooning her, she's like spooning the hand. Oh no baby no. And then we see
Riley for the first time in our hospital? God poor Riley. This kid is
fucked up. The effects I cannot overstate how good they are. Yeah.
So good. He is being given a bath in the hospital by his mom and his sister's there and their
dad calls so A-O-1 has to step out of the room.
And Riley bites Jade's hand and starts smashing the back of his head into the wall and laughing.
Breaking tile, breaking ceramic tile with his fucking head. Jesus, fuck!
Then he falls on the ground and starts licking his blood and seizing.
Fuck! Can I tell you something? Yeah. I love it. So, Mia's like, oh, I've got to talk to Duckett's brother.
Yeah, they got to go find Duckett's brother.
Joss is like, I got the hand off him and he said, he said I could keep it.
But like, he's dead. Like, what did you, was that not a red flag for you?
Does that not scary for you? Didn't he say you, I can keep it because he doesn't need
to talk to them anymore?
Oh, did he say that?
Oh, fuck.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And they find Duckett's brother at the bus stop.
Uh-huh, as you do.
As you do.
For these free buses apparently that they have in Australia, you can they they they they they they they they th. I was like, where are your connect cards? And Duckett's brother says, a real friend would have seen it was fucking him up.
And I thought, yes, Duckett's brother, you are so right.
Yeah.
Yeah, he said that's a Joss.
And yeah, it's fucked.
And Josh at some point is like, yeah.
Like, kind of distancing himself, yeah.
Yeah. But the information, the useful information that they get from Ducket is is is is is is is is is is is th, th, th, th, th, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it was thi, thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it was thi, it, it, it was thi, it was thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thiiiiiiii. thii. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi,, yeah. But the information, the useful information that they get from Duckett is that
Riley's body should kick them out. They get weaker the longer they're in. Yeah. That doesn't make a sense there, Ducket's brother. Uh-uh. Cold of no fuck about shit about this thing. No, I don't know why he thinks he does. No. I don't know why he thinks he does he th. No. No. No. No. No. No thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thinks thi thinks thinks thinks thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi thi. thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, oh, they get off the bus,
because they got on the bus to talk to Cole, and then they get off.
Slow down Cole.
And another Australia connection.
There you go.
There you go.
And Mia and Jade start fighting?
Oh, were you, did you mean, get me out of the car?
Let me out of the car.
God, I love days of thunder sorry going and Jade goes for the fucking emotional
jugular with Mia and says I wish you would never wormed your way into our
lives and forced your way into my family that's what it is
ouch I just like, I,
And this is so sad. She's so sad.
It's so sad.
Like, the idea of something saying that to me as a child would just like,
oh, fuck.
You're ruined forever. Yeah, as you watch this movie, I feel like there's this overwhelming sense
that Mia is past a point of no return.
Yeah. In her life, in this thing she's doing, like it's almost a relief, you know, yeah.
Wow. Yeah, brutal.
So they come up with this idea to try it again because they didn't, they're not sure they blew the
candle out so they want to do it again and blow out the candle. Seems fine. And Joss is like, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good, th th th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, to do it again and blow out the candle. So they can close the door. Seems fine.
And Joss is like, hey, good luck.
Like, well, my work here is done.
And that's the last we see of them.
Joss out?
Yep.
It seems like Riley has to be the one to say talk to me instead of them being like, I'll try them.
And then, because that won't work, Mia's like, well, why don't I, well, I'll do it, I'll do it, I'll do it again. I'll try to talk to him.
Just loves doing it.
And they're like, yeah, but he's not dead.
Well, let's just see what happens.
Yeah, let's see if I can find him.
And then we, she goes under and we get this, I don't know, I horizon video footage level, like,
I wish I wasn't seeing this right now.
Yeah, Saturn eating his son and all that.
It's like Riley is laying in a pile of gooey bodies.
It's a mass orgy of screaming and clawing.
And they're like pulling on him and rubbing him and it's just like you
don't know what's happening. Someone's definitely eating a baby right? I don't
know I didn't even notice that. Someone's definitely eating a baby. Sure, yes.
It's very like Bosch painting. Yes. Very like just 18 levels of unsettling. Yeah.
And she's been been taken there by a little girl who she
has connected with this time. Yeah. What? This is what's happening to Riley? He's going to need
so much therapy. Yeah. Yeah. Rilies in Hill or something. Or whatever. Yeah, brutal.
So she goes back home after that? Yeah, because I guess it doesn't work.
Yeah.
And dad is like, hey, I'm gonna be completely honest with you.
Great timing.
Here's this note that your mother left.
Heart fucking breaking.
I cried like a bitch at this scene.
Really? Yeah, because it is just like, oh, you know how,
if you've ever been so low that you find a lack of hopelessness in
the alternative, that's really fucking sad.
And to write that, to know that you're like abandoning your child, and oh, I can't.
I can't.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I hope you don't hate me for this, and I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me and find
peace and knowing I am no longer in pain.
Yeah, the idea of that being from your mom.
Yes.
He really should have brought this up earlier.
Wow. Yeah, it's intense.
And she's like, well, it's not true.
She told me it wasn't true. Oh man, Australians pull no punches.
And also, Mia, won't you try listening?
Listen with your listening ears.
Put your listening hat on.
Yes.
But then, yes, so her mom comes back and she's like,
he's lying. That's not your dad.
That's their they're imitating him. But it actually isn't, because there are two dads, because one is just chilling on the couch with the hand
and the other one's like trying to beat her up.
It's what, how, so at this point.
I think she is now like rocking between the two worlds.
Yeah, she's got a foot in both.
Yeah. Yeah, which got to go to
school, never got to be cool, yeah. Her dad comes in she stabs her real dad with
those scissors. I knew that was going to happen. Sure. And it was still a fucking
bummer. Yeah and you don't even like the dad. No. He's not, yeah, clearly things have gone very far astray for him. And then we get an artful
tree shot because it's A24 and I feel like they're contractually obligate their production
people to put in an artful tree shot. It's the will him scream of A24 of artful tree shot. So she. So. So. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And we th. And we th. And we th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And the. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. that Riley is getting better. Yeah, she said he woke up for a second.
It's like he was himself again. And Jade or Mia tells Jade to come to her house. Like don't listen to her
because she's just luring her away from the hospital. Yeah, because she's sitting in the
parking lot of the hospital and goes in with her little skissors in her back pocket. Did she drive there with those scissors
in her back pocket? I don't like that at all. You're going to cut your tushie. I'm going to cut,
you're gonna cut your tush. You'll be like a battle rai-o'-yeah. No one likes a butt cutter. No one likes a butt cutter. leaves Mia goes into Riley's room and she starts talking to him or grabs his
hand or something yeah and his pee bag starts to fill with blood.
Sue comes in first and it's like I'm so sorry I you know we got his like
toxicology screen he wasn't on drugs I'm so sorry I blamed you I was just scared and
upset and I shouldn't have done that and I was like you're just out you're doing your goddamn best Sue trying to raise this kid that's not th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. t doing your goddamn best, Sue, trying to raise this kid that's not yours and fuck, man.
But at this point, I'm like, is that even, Sue, is she even here?
Like, is this all in her head?
I think that was Sue.
Yeah.
Sue's a good egg.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
But yeah, his IV bag fluid. fluid turns black. Yeah. And his face becomes the like old person's face? Yeah, he's like some random old person.
He's the old person he was laying on in the freak out dream. Oh, okay. Yeah. He's all lumpy and shit.
And the old person's like, we're going to keep him or whatever, like we're going to like
rip him apart basically. Also he was a small skinny boy. You should have been able to do it by now.
Like, it's been days.
Not a telephone book.
Yeah.
Remember that buff clown who could tear apart telephone books?
He would have been popular at some point when you like first got to Pittsburgh?
Buffo?
I think his name's buffo?
No.
Remember that buff-o? it's buffo. He would tear telephone books apart on his ads. Forget it. No. Whatever, my co-worker's friend dated him. Because Pittsburgh.
Was that on their application? No, it was someone who fucked Buffo. I have to look up if it's buffo, hold on.
Really ripped her telephone book and half. Oh God, that does not sound pleasant.
Yeah, buffo.
World's strongest clown.
It's not Italian, it's not buffo?
Bufo.
Wait, I need to get you a picture of buffo.
Here's buffo.
Here's buffo.
There's a fun. Oh, no, no fuck Bufo. Bufo is pretty buff though.
Yeah, the world's strongest clown.
Here he is slapping a child in the face.
I don't know why.
Okay, I'm sorry.
I'm done.
Bufo.
I'm not pro-Bufo.
Oh, wait, one more buffo.
Here he is kissing his bicep.
He's wildly different looking every time you show me buffo. Here he is kissing his bicep. He's wildly different looking every time you show me buffo.
He has a lot of different clown looks. Okay. Yeah. He's not always wearing that hair is what it is.
Right. Right. Anyway, Bufo the clown. Has been fucked. The bloody kangaroo hops by the room.
A way to change that subject. Just shows up and it's like, hey. Yeah.
And you're just like, don't stab him.
Don't stab him.
Don't fucking stab this kid.
You've ruined everything.
Don't stab him.
Don't tab him.
Don't, don't tap thoe.
Don't you t I guess Jade calls him an ambulance she must. Well I mean based on the end of the movie she must have. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So Mia and
Riley are now missing. Yes she has somehow taken Riley and Jade realizes that she's
dangerous and heads back to the hospital. She catches sight of Mia pushing Riley up a hill
in a wheelchair. She's like just for whatever reason, very upsetting. Yeah. Because she's pushing him into
traffic. Yeah, she's headed down towards a highway. And the person in the wheelchair
is the old person again. From Mia's perspective, yes. From Mia's perspective, right.
And then we hear an accident and we see a collision on a windshield.
Yeah, well Jade runs to stop her.
And Mia feels her ghost mom's hands on her shoulder saying,
I'm so proud of you.
Yeah.
And this seems to like shake her somehow that she realizes it's not real, which is,
why does she stop believing her right then?
I don't know, but her mom's got like fucking demon hands.
Oh yeah, she got bad hands.
Yeah.
So she says, I'm so proud of you and then the old person cackles and her mom says, show
him the way.
Then you hear the collision.
Yes.
And then we see Mia in the middle of the road having been hit by the car. Right, but then, oh, she stands up. Uh-huh.
And we see that Riley is on the ground being cradled by Jade.
Yeah.
Question.
Yes.
I think Jade pushed her?
I don't know.
I hope so, too.
Yeah.
So now, Mia's back in the hallway and she calls out to him. Walking down the hallway of the hospital. Yeah, he does not respond to her. No.
And random rooms just start going black around her.
Yes. And she's all fucked up.
She's all fucked up. Yeah. And we see that Riley is okay. He's like being released
from the hospital. He's laughing with Jade and his mom in his room.
Yeah. And she looks in the mirror and she has no reflection.
She has no reflection.
Chills, baby.
And then the mirror goes black?
And she says, don't leave me please.
Ouch.
And then there is a faint candlelight that she has drawn to.
Yes, a match strikes.
And she is reaching out to take the hand of a Greek man.
I know that Greeks aren't just inherently funny.
But like also they kind of are.
So I mean this ended on a weird laughy note for me where I was like,
oh man, like just her realization that she is now the ghost at someone else is seeing when
they grab the hand.
She's on the other side.
Yeah.
Yikes.
And my last note is very, M.R. James.
Yeah.
Very just like, don't fuck around with the occult, y'all.
Gottuck.
Fuck around and find out with your Gothic shit.
Yeah, yeah. Well, as per usual, the Australians break our fucking hearts.
I mean, like, what are you doing? I know there's a lot of you on that island,
but it must still just be so isolated. You're all so fucking weird.
I'm going to say something a little controversial.
I'm going to say something a little controversial. I'm buckled.
We might be living at a golden age of horror right now. I know.
What I was thinking today is that while the market is being flooded with big budget shit like
insidious red door, the new nun movie, there's still stuff like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's money, like horror got better because money, like money, money started getting thrown at it. th th. th. th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th, there's still stuff like this.
So there's money, like horror got better because money started getting thrown at it.
Yes.
Right?
And like, there are people like Bloom House and A24 that are giving our tour, our tour directors.
Yeah, like James Wan.
Like James, well, and Jordan Peel,
sure.
And the person who made this movie.
I think it's a set of brothers, yeah.
Ari Astor, and like, they're getting, they're getting money to fund these like, not huge projects.
But they're fucking money to fund these like not huge projects, but they're fucking good.
Yeah, and the aforementioned, oh that was last episode, Ty West, I was gonna say to him.
But like the fact that this and Pearl and X and all these other great things we've seen in the last year or two,
I'm just, I'm, I'm bold over, I'm bold over. And I was like do you say that word? Bold over?
I'm bold over.
I was like this movie was making me feel a lot of it follows feels.
Yeah.
I think it's because it's so teen-centric.
And that was like such a teen-centric movie.
Like there was almost like a Charlie Brownian lack of adults in that movie.
No oversight whatsoever.
And so this was just like hitting that for that for that for that that that that movie. No oversight whatsoever. And so this was just like hitting that
for me as well and they're also that's all my mind because they're doing a
they follow. There's a follow-up to it follows. Oh I didn't know that. I was
like how you gonna, that movie kind of ended perfect. I don't remember how it ended.
It just ends with the two people walking away and someone's walking down the street towards them. Right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right. Right. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. I was. their. their. they're they're they're they're they's. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. they. they. I was. I was. I was. I was. the street towards them. Right, right, right. And you're like, is that real or is that? Well, I saw that there's already a sequel in production,
or in the works for this.
Really?
Yeah, so.
Wow.
Talk to me to me.
Talk to me.
Look to me.
Look, to me.
Oh, thrown. Oh my god, yeah. For a moment I thought you were going to tell me that Bruce Willis died, because his health is not good, right? Oh yeah, yeah.
So Katie.
Alan?
After we've sung the praises of this, we probably should rate it.
Yeah, go for it.
Yeah, I'm gonna give it a 9.5.
Same girl, same. It's really good. It's really good. Yeah. I was braced for something different.
But I loved this.
Yeah.
Like, I loved it.
But you'll never watch it again.
No, I would watch this one again.
Yeah.
Oh, hereditary is just too much for me.
It's just too much.
Sure. Yeah.
You mean that seed where they're just having a family argument for like twenty minutes in the middle of the movie. And just the loss of a child, I don't know,
losing your mind because you've lost your child,
I just can't, I can't hang with.
This one like Sue, Sue ends up okay.
Team Sue, because I'm a cool mom.
Katie.
Alan.
Can I give you a rating?
A rating?
Oh, sorry, a review that we've gotten on Apple Podcast?
Oh, of course.
I thought you're going to re-rate this movie.
And this is a follow-up review, so buckle in.
Okay.
The title of it is, hoodo and voodoo are different things.
Dot, dot, dot, five stars.
Oh, no, this is going he say? Quote, God, I don't know that much, unquote.
For some reason, they're letting me back for another review, but I don't mind if I do.
Okay, Steve, job, let them in.
I'm officially all in on this show and popping with laughter every other minute.
Oh my god. I'm about the same age as the dude host, Alan.
The cool uncle. Don't ever say that to me again. That made me feel very gross inside.
So I get his references. Excellent straight man hosts by the way and reads reviews well.
Yes you do. I do edit them so that I take out all my own snobs. That's all right.
And Kathy, Kathy, Kathy, Katie, Katie, Katie, the woman hostess.
Yeah.
I'm, I like woman and S.
I'm just driving home that.
The lady woman hostess.
Tits over there.
That tomato.
He's just ridiculously and naturally hilarious.
Thank you so much, deadhead, Dan.
She's a force.
Great stuff.
Oh, thank you.
Go watch any horror movie, then find their episode covering it,
because we've almost done them all.
All of them.
And I challenge you not to laugh and be entertained.
Update.
Oh no, Dan. Okay, it's officially my favorite non-bd movie and non-retro pro-wrestling podcast.
Perfect.
Wow, we really, we went on a journey with Dan.
Just brilliant and it keeps me laughing.
Oh my God.
That's all I want for a podcast.
Slightly, above average intelligence and plenty of humor.
Slightly.
I don't have you know I skipped a grade. And I will hang on to that until the day I die.
Update, update.
Dan!
It's Katie and Alan.
Sorry, 15 episodes and I finally got your names down.
He really thought my name was Kathy?
Ack!
Favorite personal Pittsburgh memories seeing the dead and three rivers in 95 and the rain pouring down during second
set.
I feel like this pains you to read.
Somba and rain and terrapin drums, amazing experience.
We can still see Jerry's hair blowing in the wind during standing on the moon.
Three rivers was a shit place to see anything happen though to be fair. It's November and I'm still here. Oh all right,
all right Dan, you lost us. Thank you for your kind words. Don't force the dead on
Alan he'll die. You will actually kill him. My power's being changed. Oh my god, put it down,
put it down, put it down, drop your phone. Thank God. There's just a slow jamming guitar solo happening. I'm sure I've told her this before.
Kyle Canain's joke about jam bands.
It's just five uncles not knowing how to end a slow.
I thought it was stepdad.
Stepdad, stepdad.
It's even funnier.
Oh, well, I'm glad that we, Dan was the one who said, took me a few episodes,
yeah.
All right, so there you right. So there you go journey I feel like there's a slight negging in all of Dan's reviews
Slightly above average intelligence
Fuck, man. That hurts more than at all too
Oh, well. I'm happy to be lumped in with a slightly above

Wrelf Ambulance if you'd like to hear us talk about action movies. Last
night I late night texted Alan with the fact that I need the Jetly DMX
movie to be our next action movie, so buckle in for that. Cradle to the grave.
Cradle to the number.
Digit.
Oh my god.
I can't even fathom what that movie's going to be.
Also it has a sequel.
Cradle to the grave too.
Also a digit, or is it the Roman numerals?

What is it? From beyond. Stuart Gordon is based on an H.P. Lovecraft story. And when I say based on,
I mean like, H.P. Lovecraft's name is above the title, the end. I feel like I've much hated
stewarden in the past, huh? You have, but I feel like I'm tryingtrying to win you over to the world of Stuart Gordon, because I really love him as a film director.
I feel like there's some things you're going to win on and some things you're going to lose on.
This one I don't remember having any weird sexual assault in, but then I didn't remember that
about Reanimator and it's one of the main things that happens.
I did love dolls. And I told you about the movie Stuck that he did, which is, was...
Yes, in the, yes, in the girl of a car, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, alright, Stuart Gordon.
Whatever.
Just the idea that he made a movie that was like, let's have that guy get to get revenge.
Yeah, that SAG after a posted
or like got her contract and so she was like here's a picture of me and a lingerie.
I was like fuck yeah I love you. Yeah, I'm do you Barbara Cramden. I was like you're so fucking good. She's so great. She also has no right to be 60 and look that beautiful.
No, she looks great.
Yeah, yeah.
Damn you.
The fucking bitch.
I'll never look that beautiful.
No, I've never looked that beautiful day in my life.
So come back for that.
So come back for that.
I don't mean, I don't thin't to for that. Yeah, and thank you for listening to another episode of Rew Wolf Bands.
Bye.
Bye.
Talk to me.
I'm hanging up.
I let you in.
No. Maybe Axon are dead pools, Savini's sighting sat the pool.
No way to wait for him, let's keep fulfilled reviews.
Killing clouds and leapt the face.
King Emily and his face.
Our parents are fast in case.
Please make I continue to grave. E&T.
A Rode of comedy reviews hungry Brian from Wayne's and Stephen Gang.
E&D.
We live deliciously bad temperatures of his gracefully gone today.
A pair of normal activities from. Rogers City, EFT.
