Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, and welcome to another episode of Wearewolf Ambulance. I'm Alan and I'm here with my friend Katie. Hello, Katie. Hi, Alan. Hi, how are you? I'm good. I'm gonna talk about some teens. How about you? Fucking teenagers, man. Ah, teens. How are you? How are you? I'm good. I'm gonna talk about some teens. How about you? Fucking teenagers, man. Ah, teens. How are you? I'm doing all right. Good. I'm enjoying a delicious pumpkin from Southern Tier. It's a September something. And this is what we're doing. Yeah, this is a,
Starting point is 00:00:39 it's that season guys. You ready, you ready guys? We stretch it from about mid-September to mid-November. Yeah. Yeah. A two months to get into the best mood possible while watching this movie, I ate a bowl of Count Chocula. Oh, nice. That really ties it all together. So the movie we're here to talk about is the 2014... It sort of found footage sort of not sort of supernatural sort of not yeah film
Starting point is 00:01:07 well I think it's super natural I think it's full-blown super yeah you're right about that Unfriended Do this movie was originally called cyber natural I love that so much more I love that so much more I love that's so much more I love that's so much more I love that's so much more I love that's so much more I love that's that's so much more I that I that I that I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that that that that that that th th th th th th th th th th th th so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so th so tho that's that's mean? Like cyber means nothing else to me except like simulating sex with a person via AOL instant messenger. Oh wow, no. That's all cyber means. Oh all right. Yeah. I always think of that terrible Billy Idol album's Cyberpunk. Oh. There in lies the difference in our ages I think. What is internet sex? Oh I don't know. Well, I feel this movie, much like zombie vevers, speaking of age groups, not for us. Not for us. Yeah. Although I do have some thoughts on it. Okay. Although we'll get into as we go along. So the basic premise of this film I feel like we can nutshell this guy real quick. Ah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Some teens are talking online for no apparent reason.
Starting point is 00:02:07 That's what they do, I guess. That's what they do. That's what they do. That's how they spend their time. I was like, don't you sit in front of a computer all day? No, you don't. You go to school. They just stare at the one. former classmate who has committed suicide and about a video that causes her
Starting point is 00:02:25 to be cyberbullied right and throughout the film they are stalked and hunted down the whole time we're just seeing their Skype chat yeah from one girl's perspective of looking at her computer screen right for a long time I was like I can't believe I'm just watching this teen use a computer I wonder when it's gonna cut to real life it doesn't no actually I guess for the last split split second it does that's it the whole movie is just looking at her screen it's really hard to watch I found it very stressful I really at one point that I was super stressed out and I don't
Starting point is 00:02:57 think it was because I was because I was afraid, God, there's so much multitasking happening. Like I can't, I just had this feeling of like things being unfinished and like so many windows being open. She had so many windows open. I could not take it. The star of this film is the character Blair. She's apparently also on Teen Wolf, the MTV show, where, which my partner watches, because she's a teen. the girl's great eyebrows
Starting point is 00:03:26 because she is stiller brows. She informed me that her character on Teen Wolf is a wear coyote and that got me chuckling for a long time. I can't even... Okay. Yeah, this is what teens are doing. Like, this really hit me hard because last week my baby niece was born my baby niece Daniela thank you and then I had this like this is the world in which she has to grow up like it plus I mean 16 years from now she'll be these people's age how terrible would be then like right I'm so glad I went to high school and college in a world without social media I have a note that says being a teen now must be awful awful awful followed by the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the te te te te te toe. thean. thean. thean. thean. the.. Awful. Followed by the note, being a teen is the worst.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Awful! Even back in the Stone Age, when I was a teenager, it was fucking abysmal. And you didn't have to have like people taking photos of you and videos of you and putting them on the internet. No, I never's a dick pick. Is there a dick pick? And the chat roulette thing, there's a dick. Oh, I miss it. I was like, things I was excited about.
Starting point is 00:04:29 I was this the dicks. Things I was excited about in this movie was that it had an R rating. Yeah. So I was like, it's's the R rating is merely for sex. It's in there for sex because there's like the simulated sex. This is our second week in a row of conalinga scene in a film though. Yeah, I felt like this movie could have been very gory but wasn't. Like when you think about revenge stories, it always tends to be like the most brutal and the most gory and the most awful, like last house on the left or I spent on your grave or even in the literature like Titus andronicus you know what I mean is like the most bloody
Starting point is 00:05:08 disgusting of the Shakespeare plays right this isn't it's just like bap you're dead you're dead now you're dead all buffering you're dead like it was just really disappointing in that way yeah they cheated too much they. Why though that's the easiest thing to do. It's like gross death. And you could have gotten away like it could have been shoddy because you didn't have high quality. There wasn't HD so you could have fucked around with it and done gory shit and probably still gotten away with like a pretty light R. Yeah. Probably the most brutal death is that of Ken. Of course he knows how to use computers. Of course the fat kid's good at computers. I have the note, I hope the fat guy hacker has to fix something with pizza.
Starting point is 00:05:50 As a guy who's been a fat guy his entire life, like, you know, Horace from Monster Squad is my favorite Monster Squad because he has to solve a problem with a problem, a problem with a problem. So I expected this guy to be like a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a problem with a the the the the the the the the the the the like, oh no, the internet's down and then just slap a slice of pizza on top of his modem. I imagined him like putting it in like a USB drive, like, push out the CD dry and then stick it in there. It was such like ridiculous casting. It was just like, why is the fat guy have to be like, why in none of these movies? Is the fat guy? Why in none of these? the the the the thuuu. thu. thu. thu. thu. th. thu. thii? thi? thi? thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. I I I I's is, th. I I I I. I. I. I I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's is. I's is. I's is. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to. to. to. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toethey get parts. Fat ladies just don't get them. It's true. Yeah. It's true. Or the only time that... In which case then you can have a part? Right. Right. Well, we're always comic relief. Oh, right. I mean, that's what Kent was in this movie. Yeah. Yeah. I was a thrown. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that the the th. th. th. th. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that trying to think of a part that I laughed at and none came to mind. Yeah. Well, no, I did. I laughed at Kent's death because it was so fucking dumb. Well, I was trying to figure out if, because he dies by putting his hand into a blunder.
Starting point is 00:06:52 And I was like, is this a reference to Goonies? And I was like, is he a reference to guinea true-o'n'n't. Is he, and is their, is their, is, is, is, and, is, is, is tha, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, tha, tha, tha, thr-s, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, th. And, because, because, the, because, he. And, he. the, he. the, he. the, he. th. th. th. th. th. the, he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. he. he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. I was, because, th think about that. He kind of looks like a chunked 10 years later. He would have truffle shuffled though. Yeah. There's the scene where, like, at the beginning of his death seed, it looks like he's getting like tossed. I don't know what's, like, he's just kind of like the computer, but his ass is bopping up in the air. Why these people were talking to each other because none of them seem to like one another? Is that what high school friendship is like? I think so. I think that's the vibe of being friends with people now. I think that's what friends are. Also, on that note, no one in this movie is the protagonist. You're rooting for no one.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Oh, I thought we were supposed to root for Blair. But she sucks. She's a bad person. Yeah, I mean, that's the thing in these teen slasher movies, is you're not supposed to like anyone, right? I don't like that. I don't like that at all. But that's like the new turn is that like all these people ar their to'n't and you're not like whatever men those people deserve to die. You know what I mean? Have one character that you're like, I hope that one pulls through. Or I know that one's gonna pull through, you know? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Was Nev Campbell the last last girl? Like, it's a good question. Yeah, I mean, but she feels like one of the best last girls, because she's such a bad. Yeah. And that might be because we're just been in an ocean of remakes after that. Like, that's, yeah, that's very true. I, the whole time these people were interacting with each other, I was like, what is this phone? Like, ostensibly it seemed to be a phone call about getting concert tickets? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Well, that was the first, like done it because they all got added on to the call of this cyber sex that was happening between Blair and her boyfriend. Why did he have a knife during that scene? I don't know. I got knives all the time. I'm just covered in knives. All right. Fair enough. No, I don't I don't I couldn't figure it out. I throw. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. the th. the their. their. the th. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. the the th. th. the th. th. the the th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. the the the the the the the the the the figure it out. I think that it was just check off knife. I guess so. It was just there to be, so he could stick it in his own eye later. Spoiler, oh yeah, we're going to do spoilers. There's another person who's in the chat with them, who doesn't have like a moving image, moving image, a video, a webcam image, a video, a webcam, like Billy, Gene King. Billy 227.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Oh, right, right. Which I was hoping there was going to be a Jack-A reference at some point. But like, they're like, at one point, Blair clicks on it and she's like, oh, it's Laura's email address? It said, like, Billy, 2, 2, 7 at Gmail. Why was that, to pay out? Nope. It doesn't. Not at all. There are almost no payoffs in this movie. So ghosts can use computers? Was she using a computer? Yeah. Well she was, I think she was like in the web. She like hacked the mainframe. Man that's bullshit to die on the internet and then have to live on the internet.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Right. You know what I'm saying? Living by YouTube, dying by YouTube? I don't know, it's not very good. I'm going to Photoshop this. I'm going to workshop this. What am I saying? You're too online right now. Oh, God. I had had had had had had had had had had an idea. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. to. to. to. th. th. the. the. the. to. th. too. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to for this episode that people could play where they drank every time we made like a computer pun. Like this movie really clicked for me
Starting point is 00:10:28 but I feel like we're too far in now. Oh can we just be clicking? Who the fuck doesn't turn all the sounds off on their computer when they're using it? And also she kept like putting on music while she was chatting with these people? Can they hear it? Can you hear them over it? Like, I don't understand what you're doing. And also, just click the little button on your Gchat that lets you hit Enter to send your message so you don't have to keep fucking moving the mouse around to send your messages. Yeah, she seemed really like moving that mouse. A mouse was driving insane. Yeah, she needs to get involved in the hot keys, man. She's just not familiarized. Yeah, that's an old person thing. Is it hot keys?
Starting point is 00:11:07 I have no idea. What the way? I know. There are a lot of like funny side things in this that I liked though. Like, um, when she's looking at the video on YouTube, there's a, like one of her recommended videos on the side, just says, cat does backflip and then in parentheses, Amazing, which I looked for today and I found one title that.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Really? Yeah. Wow. It's a bit of a let down the cat never does a backflip. Then I went down the rabbit cat actually does a backflip. It's like a weird thing that people put to get views, I guess. Clickbait. Yeah, exactly, it's garbage. Us youth called that click bait. Oh, I see.
Starting point is 00:11:53 I didn't know. At one point they show her browser history and she's looking at something. I did the tella. So the girl that they th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, the, the, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tha. tha. tha. tf. tf. tf. tog. tf. tog. tf. tf. together, together, thea. together, thea. toda do with me? They must have, yeah. Because they had the trailer too. So the girl that has killed herself, kills herself because she's being bullied and told to kill herself over a video where she gets drunk and then passes out and gets her period, I guess.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Everybody gets a moon time. I couldn't tell if she pooped herself or got her moon. It did look like shit at first and I was like, oh, that's brutal. Yeah. I think it was, I think it was supposed to be her moonblood. Moontime is much less embarrassing than shooting yourself. Oh for sure. Everybody, moon times. 25% of your life, you know? Between certain ages.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Yeah, well, right, right. video. Yeah. It starts with her shooting herself and that's the video that Blair is watching when her boyfriend calls her. And why was she watching that? I don't know. Because I guess Laura was at one point her best friend as we learn in the movie. Right. Also can people just Skype into you while you're just on the internet? Because I don't want that to ever happen. Yeah yeah that seems to happen but just the ringing the constant ringing that was happening. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the th. th. th. that's that's th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's th. I's th. th. th. I's th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. them. Yeah, yeah, that seems to happen, but just the ringing, the constant ringing that's happening. Yeah, I think that's real. People does not want that to happen. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Can we talk about the terrible trash talking that happens in this movie? Yes, we can. There's the one girl that just keeps referring to that girl who keeps getting called Trash is yelling at this Billy 227, telling her that she's going to knock the trash out of her ears.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Yeah, I didn't understand that. What does that mean? I don't know. I thought maybe that the girl who kept getting called Trash. Like, trash was like, trash was like, thrash. that trash. When she says that, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I think, I think, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm th. I'm, I'm th. I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I, I like, what are you, what do you mean by that Blair? Blair, you waspy teenager? You entitled piece of shit? Seriously, oh, I ain't the nine Mac. So don't all my friends.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Yeah, they did. Yeah, no, this was like total product placement for Google, YouTube, Skype, unexplained forums. Is that a thing? Google, YouTube, Skype, Max. Explained Forms, is that a thing? I did not go to that website. That's where she keeps going and she sees the forum of like, that person hanging it. Which she like, then she Googles something else and that's the first hit again and she clicks
Starting point is 00:14:15 on it. Yeah. I was like, look at your fucking, wildly. That's like, don't know. And I mean, it is an interesting concept, like you're looking at her computer screen the whole time, but it's also like, imagine looking at someone's computer screen for 90 minutes. That's terrible. Which I mean, in the beginning there was a lot of tension in this film. I was like, oh, this is this is pretty promising as this started started, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. this is pretty, th. th. th. th. this is pretty, th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, thi, thi, thi, thi. I, thi. I, thi. I, thi. I's, thi. I's, thi. I'm, thi. thi. this is, thi. thi. thi. thi. I's, thi. I's, thi. I'm, thi. I'm, thi. is started like because I kind of I think it was triggering a little bit of that home invasion thing that really
Starting point is 00:14:48 bugs me out because you're just seeing like you're seeing their faces obviously and then their rooms behind them so I was like oh something just to walk in on I mean that's gonna be fucking terrifying I'm gonna lose my mind doesn't happen yeah and that's a thinatural horror their th. thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir the. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. that's that's that's th th th that's that's that's that's th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. thin thin thin thin thin thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeeeeeeeeeeeean. theeeean. theeean. theeeeeeeeeee they create a lot of atmosphere and that's how they get their scares right but because this is like that single shot on someone's face they can't do that there's like no atmosphere to the movie right which I feel it really hurts it yeah it would have worked better as a short perhaps this concept but it was a very long time to be watching this and it was under 90 minutes. Yeah have you ever I probably know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway have you ever seen the film Cairo by Kiosh Kurosawa no it's I love
Starting point is 00:15:32 this movie but it's like the premise is just as dumb as this one it's people find chat rooms where they can talk to the dead and then the dead are coming into our world. Isn't the net with Sandra Bullock? Just kidding, that has nothing to do with it. There is an American remake of this, but I don't remember what it's called. It might be. I saw that. That's real bad.
Starting point is 00:15:53 But Cairo works because it's one of the like bleakest, most nihilistic films I've ever seen. you're fucked and just get over it. There's a great scene in that movie where I'll just talk about that movie because I love that movie. There's a scene where a woman does a header off of a water tower and I can't find where the cut is. So it looks like she takes a header and like you watch her go all the way down and hit the ground and it's really like it's... When was that movie made? Early 2000s. Like when the Jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjju, like when the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, th, th, wo th, tho tho tho tho tho tho tho the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the th, the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, thee, theeeat theeeeat theeat theeeat theeeeat theeeeat theeeeat theeeeee, where the, where no that's sort of the premise of this film done well. Yeah. You know it's like teens who are on the internet and interacting with ghosts. Same sort of idea. Yeah. It just felt like this was a cautionary tale but I don't know what it was cautioning. Like I guess about like online addiction like they can't.
Starting point is 00:16:42 They, the obvious answer is to close your computer to get off the internet. But they can't they yeah the obvious answer is to close your computer to get off the internet but they can't you know have some downtime be alone for a little while everybody I mean with us right put us in your ears and go we're on the internet is how we do I think also like they put something up on Instagram and just boom comment comment comment I'm like how do we get this many Instagram comments what do we have to do? Why are teens just better than us at so many things? Is that true? They're better? Commenting on the internet?
Starting point is 00:17:12 Yeah, everything other than like driving and earning a living. I don't know. And making sound choices, I guess. Because, like, one of the things that comes out is that our main character Blair has been proclaiming to be a virgin but has had sex with the character Adam. Yeah. Dude sucks. He's like a monster. How could you ever do that? Just poor choices. You know? But her boyfriend seems to be like a monster too. And apparently as we learn at the end of this movie, she is also a monster. Yeah. They're all monsters. The only one that wasn't really that bad was the blonde. the blonde. the blonde. the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the th. th. the the the the the th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. the th. the, they're all monsters. The only one that wasn't really that bad was the blonde girl, I guess. Well, we don't know about Ken. No, not Val. Julie. Julie.
Starting point is 00:17:49 No. Jess, Jenny. Whatever, Janie. Crack. All she did was, I think she stole some money from someone. Oh, and she's true, which fair enough, you know. God I can't, I'm at like, I had a lot of shit talked on me in high school and I can't imagine how abusive the internet would have been for that. Like, it's gotta be terrible. The thing that I think about is how many evenings I spent at like my friends'
Starting point is 00:18:18 houses wearing sweat pants and glasses and looking like shit watching TV because not and there were no cameras no one is going to take a picture of you and put it on the internet. You knew you were safe from these things because they didn't exist. Like no one had a digital camera. No one had a camera on the camera. No one had a phone. No one. I can't imagine. I'm a girl in the world where you have to be like, their, to be, to be, to, to, the, to, to, the, th, the, the, th, th.. th. thin, thin, thin, thin, thi, thi, thi, thin, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th............. th. th. thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. you th. th. you thi. th. you thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. like someone might take a picture of you and put it on the internet and then you have to see how many people like it like that I'm sweating come on and that's why I'm upset because I have this new baby knees and she
Starting point is 00:18:48 has to live with this yeah how do people have children when the internet exists I'm so sorry I don't know I think that's um I mean that's the the ta ta'n't the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. te. te. te. te. te. toda. te. toda. today. today. th. th. th. the person who ends up being the most helpful is a stranger on the internet That she finds on chat roulette who's like, oh I'll call the policeman all right? Okay, hold on she says it's in for us now Like but that's when the dick pick happens right before she gets to that guy. I miss that I'm I was say I go back and watch it I think my rental has expired. Maybe I will check it out. Do you want to see teens dicks?
Starting point is 00:19:33 Disembodied dicks are very funny. Dissed diabetes is also the name of my garage gara gara gara gara gara gara gara gara gara gara g We dress as ghosts, look like the form is of penises. I really like that. Can you cut this because I think that's a good idea and I don't want anyone else to take it? You have so many good ideas in here that I feel like people are just stealing left and right? Our hundred of fans. Welcome, you've got mail. And where are these people's parents? Oh, they're in the same room that every horror movie's parents are in. I guess.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Come on, it follows? There wasn't a fucking adult, there's two adults in that entire film. That's true. And we got to walk around in that one. We weren't just in some jackass's bedroom. pulls a knife on their girlfriend when they're having sex talk on the internet. What was he doing with it? And it wasn't like a, it wasn't like a switch blade or yeah it was like a kitchen butcher knife. Yeah or like a hunting knife or something yeah. Why? I mean, teens, I do not understand you, what are you doing? No, it's fine. This is their life, this is than my life. I would like. We had A.L. Instant Messenger when I was in high school. You just like put some emo lyrics in your profile, you know.
Starting point is 00:20:48 And your emo was different than my emo. Yeah, it's a different wave. Um, I would like to think that the, this film is not uh, emblematic of all teens.that they are not all this way. I don't know. But I mean I have to wonder if that's a switch like you're if you're just constantly online with your friends like I guess chatting and video chatting and Skypeing and. You are home. Oh yeah. I did like when a so their one friend Val who apparently no one likes is just the shittiest person. Yeah. She is, I guess she's our first death, right?
Starting point is 00:21:27 Val is the first death. And we sort of see her, like, they lose her connection for a little bit, and she comes back and she's just sitting like stoic, but you can hear noises. Yeah, her dog is barking. They, because they first assumed that she's frozen, the, the, the, the, the, th, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th... thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, the, their, the, tho, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the first, the first, the, the first, the, the first, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, thou..... tho, thooooooooo, thooooooooo.. thoooooooo. thooo And then she like falls to the ground and the one girl's like, oh she has seizures. What kind of seizures does she have? What kind of seizures? So she Googles Val seizures? I was searching her Gmail? What is she searching the
Starting point is 00:21:55 internet? Yeah. I do not understand. She was sitting next to like an open bottle of bleach and I was like, I can see that. Why don't any of you see that? Why don't any of you see that? You're all very dumb. Yeah, has she already drank? That's the thing is like, there's no tension. Yeah, because they call her phone and you see it like, like to that and you see it William Castle the Tangler sort of standpoint I liked to that because both Missy and I checked our phones when that happened. So I'm am I on vibrating? Oh no oh god damn it. I got a call during this because I was
Starting point is 00:22:32 supposed to be at work because I was watching it this morning and I was like where is that why like I was looking at my TV screen I was like what is it? Oh god it's the opposite reaction of real life this guy? Oh my phone? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh, the th. Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh? Oh, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. My phone. So I liked that aspect of it. Apparently, Missy uses Skype all the time at work and was saying that it was infuriating her watching this movie because it was just like, oh, am I getting a call? It was just like trigging that like Pavlovian response. Yeah. And that's bad. That's the internet. That's what the internet's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the internet's the internet's the internet's the internet's the internet's that's the internet's the internet's the internet's the internet's that's that's that's the internet's to us. Oh yeah, guys this is a cautionary tale about old people in the internet. I mean now we're the cautionary tale I feel fine I don't
Starting point is 00:23:08 know I just like I did not hate this movie we're talking we're really pulling it to shreds. Yeah I think it had some redeeming qualities I think the acting was fine because there's a part where they all like freak out. They basically the ghost Laura Billy 2277. the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. I I I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. the. the ghost. the ghost. the ghost. the ghost. the. I. I. I. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the freak out. They basically, the ghost Laura, Billy 227, has them play Never Have I Ever, which basically gets them all to admit to all the terrible things they've done to each other. And they are all fucking freaking out, which I thought was okay.
Starting point is 00:23:34 It was a little like stage actor-e, but it was, oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I thou. I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the, the, the, the, the, the. the. the. the. the, the, the, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the acting was competent and I don't know I didn't necessarily love the looking at a computer screen for the entire movie, but it was Different I do think that it was very It was very innovative like from that standpoint. I mean they made this movie for a million dollars Well, and they grossed 62 at the box office, so it's just like god damn them. That's that's that's's, and, you know, after it was done, I was kind of like, well, this is open to so many possibilities. Like, you could do a similar film that just has a better premise. Like, so if this sparks, you know, as these movies always do, they sort of start, any time you do something that's got some ingenuity in it, you spark other people to try and mimic
Starting point is 00:24:25 it. Right. Like if there's like a film about like some scientists that are somewhere skiping back to the home office to be like, oh we found this thing and this is going on and this and like you could build tension that way. Yeah, there's ways you could do it. Yeah. Yeah, and I agree this might this. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi there's like there's like thi there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like thi there's like thi there's like th. there's like th. there's like th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. there's like thi thi thi thi thi's like thi's like thi's like thi's like a thi's like a thi's like a their is like a thi's like of people online saying this movie is not bad. They enjoyed it. I mean, I thought it was going to be a lot worse than it was. When we saw the trailer, we were like, fuck this, fuck that, fuck you, and fuck everyone.
Starting point is 00:24:51 And then I watch it. I was engrossed through the whole thing. or I'll like pause it and like get a snack or like, you know what I mean, those kinds of things. But I watched it like start to finish. I did pause this to get a bowl of couch. I got to get your, you had to get your sister. It's like, I got to be in a good mood for this. But it was, yeah, it was better than I expected.
Starting point is 00:25:13 But it was better than I expected, to be, to be, to be, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, to, to, to, to, to, and, and, to, to, to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and expected to be garbage and it's got to be better than that and it was. Yeah it was not garbage. Yeah no it was definitely not the worst movie we've ever seen in this podcast. I mean it's not even the worst movie we saw that came out last year looking at you zombievers you know what I mean? I think the issue we had with zombieers was that like nobody was trying I feel like people were definitely trying and I th th th I th th th I th I th like th I th like th like th like th like th I th like th I th I th like th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. It was just a lot of the details could have been better. It's kind of an interesting dumb premise, if that makes sense. Like it's an interesting take on a dumb premise. Let's put it that way. But to another generation, it's probably not a dumb premise because that's real life
Starting point is 00:25:58 to them. We're like, this is so dumb. You're like like, this is like, this is like, this is like, this is like, this is like, this is so dumb you're sitting there like on your computer talking to your friends like this is there the calls coming from inside the house oh my God you're right right right or or yeah or like you're right you're in a parked car and you're getting attacked that sort of like this is their version of that is an urban legend of a ghost this is their everyday existence being infiltrated by something supernatural fuck yeah yeah yeah that's thrown the their their their their their their their their their th th th th is th is th th is th is th is th is th is th th th is th th is their th is their th is th is th is thi thi their their their thi thi thi thi thi thi their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th is th is th is th is th is th is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thooooooooooooooo. the. thi. their thi. th pretty good then. Yeah. Yeah. It's just not geared to us.
Starting point is 00:26:27 That's fine. I still, yeah. That actually brings me to an interesting point. Let's go on to the rating space. Cool. Into it. We have to have you have a retort to the rating space. Yeah, what can it be though? Oh yeah. Only if I can come th can come they can come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come come I can come come come come come come I can come come come come come come th I can come th I can come come th I can come th I can come th I can come th I can come th th th th. th. th. th. th thi th thi. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. that. th. that. that. that. th. th. that that that that that thi. that thi. that thi. that thi. that that thi. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that that that that that to the ratings face. It's equally ridiculous. I got, what can it be though? Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Only if I can come through a wall each time. So Katie, do you want to do your ratings first? Yes, but I have not thought it through. So I'm just going to do some stream of consciousness here. And although I just said everything. Oh wait, no, you go. You go. You go. Two want me to do my rating? Yeah. Okay. I didn't hate this movie. I thought I was going to hate this movie.
Starting point is 00:27:07 I thought this was going to be Pap's fucking Cross to Bear the whole time. And yeah, it wasn't the worst. Yeah, it was like I kind of just looked at it as like, it's just kind of a a a a a a boring, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's just kind of, it's, th, it's, it's, it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi's thi's thi's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th worst. It's not, I knew what you did last summer. Boom, Shackalaka! It's a... It's a... Honestly, is that the worst movie you've seen in this run? We're on episode 48, right now. Yeah. And that's number one of the worst movies you've watched.
Starting point is 00:27:41 You watched God Monster of Indian Flash. I would watch that before either of those movies again. You hear that, Carrie? That's for you. That movie was fun at least. Yeah. But I think, um, yeah, I think you're right that this is not, this is a movie for a different generation. This is a movie that's going to resonate differently with people who interact with this media. Or like this is part of their everyday lives. This is... That's so sad. Why is it sad? I don't know because I like while I was watching it and and I don't mean to interrupt your rating space. Yes. There you go. When I was watching it I was like they have such rich online lives like there's just so much to them like it seemed depressing to me because it's very disconnected. It's connected but it's also disconnected. Sure.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Yeah. I find that depressing. Right. It's connected in a really unnatural. You know, the working title of this film was offline. I actually kind of like that better than unfriended. So I'm going to give this movie of five. I'm going to put it right in the right in the right in the right in the right in the right in the right the right the right the right th and th and th and the right th and thi thi to to to to to to to to to to tho tho tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. that it's that it, but it's but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, but it, to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be a to be a thi. thi. thia. thia. thia. thia. thia. thia. thia. thia. thi. thi. thi. thi. to give this movie a five. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:46 I'm going to put it right in the middle and say, uh, don't watch it, but acknowledge that it did a thing that's interesting. If you want to watch it from that standpoint, fine. You don't need to see this, though. No. Well, on that point I might disagree with you because I found it more engaging than a lot of other movies we've watched. Okay. Like, um... The howling?
Starting point is 00:29:07 No, I liked the howling, okay. And also it was very engaging because it was a nutbar. Yeah. That's the thing this movie, it could have gone crazy. It could have gone, like, they had the option of just going fucking bonkers. And they didn't. Yeah. They also had a million a million the the the thoehion a million, thoe. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thoooo. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo way less firm yeah and the thing is that they had like I mean they had that guy jam a knife into his eye but it happened like like that so fast like linger on that for a while I
Starting point is 00:29:33 want to see that guy put a knife into his eye right because there's plenty of like you know web series and stuff that have gory effects in them and like you can do it to do it to it like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. th. th. I'm. I'm. I'm. th. th. the the. the the the. the the the. the the the. the the. the the. the. the. they. they. th. budget you can do it cheap and you know there's tons of horror movies that are shot on film that cost way more than it like just the film cost more than what they did absolutely the deaths were just so such a letdown yeah I think I'm gonna give it slightly better than you I'm gonna go to five and a half because I think it's above average for its you know ingenuity for what it's doing. I would say to watch it it's worth your 83 minutes or whatever it is. Yeah. Okay. Yeah you know I would like to throw out a couple of suggestions if you want to watch movies that are of this
Starting point is 00:30:18 ilk. Fear.com. No I think Stephen Dorson that. I would say watch Cairo the Kioshaw movie. I think that's available on Hulu. It might be a criterion. I know a couple of his movies are. The other thing is If there's a British television show that's on Netflix called Black Mirror that is all about the horrors of technology, and it's not the best thing ever, but it's not the best thing, but it's not the best thing. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thea. thea. theo- theol- thro- thiol- theo- theo- theo- the- the-a the-a theo-a the. the. the. the. the. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. the the the the. the. the. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea' thea' thean. thea' thea' thea' thea' thea' the all in all, like it's not bad. It's there's worse. Oh, there's way worse. You can do way worse. And you can try way less hard and that comes through, you know. And I do think that like found footage has not totally run its course. Oh, I wish it would. There's just so much, but there's still good things coming out of that. Like they're still doing movies in that sub-genre that are interesting, I think. I don't think it's totally run out of steam yet, and I think this is sort of an interesting
Starting point is 00:31:12 take on found footage. No, I'm just being unnecessarily mean. So, which brings us on to be talking about a remake which is this our first remake? Um who care? Who knows? The town that dreaded sundown because we're working our way through movies referenced and scrim because we're working our way through movies referenced and scrimmed. Yeah. so the remake is on Netflix. Oh shit. Yeah. That's what we're doing. That's our new podcast. So the remake is available on Netflix. You can watch it there. It came out last year, I guess. 2014? Because we are just hitting the new shit hard.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Getting our foot in the door. I don't know what that means. Getting the door. The 2014 door. Yeah. The door of last year. See you there. We're the ghost of horror movie past year. So we have an Instagram that you could comment on like, like everybody comments on goddamn Val's Instagram in this movie. Like who, how do you get that many? Like I really appreciate those of you who are commenting on our Instagram. You're the best. You're so, you're the best. You're so, you get that many? Like, I really appreciate those of you who are commenting on Instagram. You're the best.
Starting point is 00:32:26 You're the best. Val's just getting so many more than us. There were some interesting Instagram post about this film. Yeah, I read that. I think a lot of people felt similarly to us that it was not a bad movie, but I had some big flaws, you know. I did like the best name on Instagram beer and pizza have you like you just nailed my interest set really hard? Yeah that's a pretty high level of nailing it. So that they weren't a fan of this movie they walked in
Starting point is 00:32:55 half way through it my buddies and got caught up. Yeah I mean that's true it's in grossing oh what's going on here you know? Yeah they do like, they do like the fact that you can actually look the YouTube videos up that are shown in the movie. And, uh. So maybe we can figure out if that's moon time. I'm not going to figure out if it's moon time. Moon time.
Starting point is 00:33:16 What a thing don't kill yourself, because there's like suicide hotlines. Like, we love you. Also, like, everyone gets a moontime.
