Hello and welcome to another episode of Wearewolf Ambulance.
I'm Katie and I'm here with my friend Alan. Hi Alan. Hey Katie. How are you? I'm doing really well.
It's still sunny out so we're fine. Everything's fine. It's pretty dark.
Oh, go. Good thing we don't
live in Texarkana which boy howdy sounds like a shitty place to live sorry I've
been to Texarkana I've played a show there really yeah text Arcana is in both
yeah okay so before we recorded this episode I checked our downloads to see, like, because I didn't want to be too offensive. We've gotten only four downloads from the state of Arkansas, which is as many as we have
from Kuala Lumpur.
And North Korea.
Yeah, yeah.
So I feel not bad at all about saying shit about Arkansas.
Texas, you're downloading and we like you.
Wow, imagine living on the Texas Arkansas border.
Like I know I've just lived in Pittsburgh my whole life, and that's probably just as bad.
Uh, it's not, it's not the worst.
There's parts of Texas that are way worse.
Oh, I'm sure.
I'm sure there's parts of Arkansas that are way worse also.
So Katie, this week we're here to talk aboutEMAKE. Is that what sounds are?
Is that what music is?
It's not good, you guys.
It's not good.
At the gate.
Okay, let's talk about the original really quickly.
We both watch this on the same day unbeknownst to each other.
Yeah.
It's a super low budget, I would say.
A Charles B. Pierce film.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's not perfect. No. There's a lot
of weird physical comedy in it. Mostly with the Charles B. Pierce. Yeah. As a deputy
name of Spark Plug or something like but it's it's good. Yeah. MST 3K heads out there would
know him as the guy from Boggy Creek to the legend continues. No I did not know. That's a Charles B. Pierce the original Boggy Creek. A Viking. the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. their th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. their. the. the. the. the. the. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the legend continues. No, I did not know that.
That's a Charles B. Pierce film,
along with the original Boggy Creek,
and a Viking movie starring Lee Majors,
that is fucking beautifully terrible.
He's made some real shit movies, some really great movies.
And the original town that dreaded sundown is probably like his most accomplished.
Right. Came on like 1973, I think and it's set in 1946 and is loosely based on 76
Whatever
Whatever it's a long time ago because it was supposed to be
30 years after yeah, well whatever it's set in 1946 and loosely based around the moonlight murders right? Which were a real series of murders that happened in that area at that time and I don't think they ever caught the guy. No, if I recall correctly. They have never caught that murderer? they? they th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, I, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I thi, I thi, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi thi thi thi, thi, thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, th of murders that happened in that area at that time.
And I don't think they ever caught the guy, if I recall correctly.
No, no, they've never caught that murderer.
So, and setting up this film.
this film, which is one thing that I really liked about this movie is, it references
the old movie.
Like thi, meta of that. They live in a
world where this movie has existed. This statement will come back to
haunt me at the end of this. Sure. But this movie is like if the film scream
were totally based on one film. It's like all of its genre references are this one movie pretty much. Yeah. Yeah. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I like I like I like I like I like I like I like I like I like I like I like I like I like I like. I like that. It's like, it's like all of its genre references are this one movie pretty much.
Okay, yeah, I can see what you're saying.
It's micro meta on some level, like it's really like,
it's just meta for, like I mean,
Charles B. Purse Jr. is a character in this film.
He is.
Played by an actor from Law and Order.
Oh, really? So is that guy? Because Edward Herman's in a couple episodes of Law and Order.
This was his last movie, which is a fuck sorry guy.
Anthony Anderson, of course, those years on Law and Order.
And then the guy who plays the Charles B. Pierce's son was in like an episode
of SvU that I had like casually watched on Netflix several days prior and I was like, oh that's the father Shea or whatever. But this is a series of
actors from Law & Order and also Lumberg from office space. So good. He plays such a
good asshaw, I really do like Lumberg. The boyfriend at the beginning of the movie.
Corey is such a boyfriend at the beginning of the movie. You know what I mean? Did you ever see unbreakable the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. th. th. th. I th. th. th. I that that th. th. I'm the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. the beginning of the movie name too. You know what I mean? Did you ever see Unbreakable, the M-Night Shumalon movie? I believe that I did. Which I like, it's by my favorite of his
films. The Bruce Willis is a superhero? Not the happening. Yeah, I've seen that. Yeah, I mean like, that's literally all my notes. This movie, like Kitty was saying, it takes place like in 2013. Yeah, yeah, a little, so that was. So, well. Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, th. the, the, the, their, th. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. their. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their. their. their. the, their. their. their. the, the, the, their. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. the, th. the, the, th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the was saying, it takes place like in 2013.
They're watching the town, like all the teens have basically shown up in the town to watch the town that dreaded sundown.
The original, it's about a killer in Texas.
Yeah, and that movie, the original, like Jason Voorhees, like when he first comes around on Friday the 13th Part 2, looks like the killer from the town the dreaded sundownown, the sun sun sun sun sun sun sun sun sun sun sun, the the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thed, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the th, the the the the the the the original, the original, the original, the original, the original, the original, the original, the original, the the the the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thed, thee, thee, and thease, theat, theat, toge, toda, today, today, today, the, the, theat, their, their, their, the, the, the 13th part 2 looks like the killer from the town of Traded Sundow. Yeah, it's like a burlap sack with the eyes cut out, no mouth cut out, which I think is
very good.
It predates Halloween by two years in that slasher genre and it has the best kill with
the trombone.
I love that trombone kill. And I do like that they work the trumboombome tree. I's the tree. I's tree. I's thum. I's thum. I thum. I thum. I thum. I thum. I the. I the. I the. I that it pays that it pays that it pays that it pays that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's that it's. that it's that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. and Dark-Hared Girl with Bangs,
who is our protagonist, whose name is totally escaping you.
Jenny.
Jamie.
Jamie.
Jamie.
Jamie.
Yeah, sorry.
Yeah, sorry.
Yeah, sorry.
Listen, hey, I have feelings about this movie.
They're at the drive go into the woods to make
out like you do and they get attacked by the phantom as they're calling him
this movie I do not believe they call him in the Phantom Yeah yeah that's what
what he was called on the news reports I don't call that on Netflix is a movie the telli the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie. It's their. It's their. It's their movie. their. It's is their. It's is their. It's is their. It's is their. It's is their. It's is their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. It's is their. It's is. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's a their. It's a their. It's a their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. And one of the urban legends they talk about is the killings from the town that treaded sundown.
No shit.
Yeah.
What is it called?
It's called Killer Legends.
It's made by the same people that did the Cropsy documentary.
So which also explores the same them.
And it's really interesting.
So yeah, the phantom was something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something something. I'm really excited about that. I do like that in that first kill, he is staring at them and they catch him.
And normally in a horror movie, when one person sees the killer, the other person's like,
hey, what are you looking at? And they turned around and they're gone.
But he was just fucking staring and I was like, that's good.
I did. That's creepy.
I loved that.
Yeah. And then he then it like to it took on like it that's when I
knew that this movie was going to be mean. This was not going to be a nice
horror like the Town that Dreaded Sun Down is a movie about a serial killer
who does like dastardly things to people yeah and it's still fun. This movie is not fun. Not fun. I really don't like the talking killer. I feel like, I really really the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the talking. I the talking. I the talking. I the talking. I the the the the talking. I talk. I talk. I the talking. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I talk. I to. to. to. to. to. to. to. tota. tota. tota. tota. tel. tota. tota. to. tolap sack over your face and do a thing where you breathe it in and out of your mouth which is in both movies
which I like that they sort of acknowledge that too. You can't talk you can't be
like shut up shut the fuck up right look over there. Like then you're just a
regular guy your mystique is gone right I really don't like it. Right you're no longer the shape or you're the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th. thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I'm the. I'm the. I'm the. I'm t. I'm teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm th or your body. You're a guy wearing a mask.
But I guess that comes back to explain things at the end, sort of.
Yeah.
Anyway, here's three notes I have in succession.
And I don't really know what they refer to.
Texas cops, this is pretty bad so far.
Is that how you do sex? Wait, which sex?
Was it the ultimate of setting sex?
I did not like that sex at all.
No.
No. Well, it was very.
I don't like.
Excitable.
I don't like athletic sex.
Like coming off of a two episodes ago where we did, don't look down.
I was like, you put's what sex looks like.
It's awkward, you put your arm around their back
in a weird way sometimes.
And this was just like, I'm doing reps,
but you happen to be on my weiner while I'm doing them.
It's hard to move that fast.
Yeah, I have the note the Bidger scene lady where Lumber that's just like, can this stop now, please?
I felt like he should have been drinking a cup of coffee like he was in that dream scene
from office space where he's having sex with Jennifer Anderson.
Lumber and fucked her.
Speaking of movies that are great.
So the fandom attacks Jamie and Corey and has Jamie Turner back and seemingly kills Corey and then she gets kind of beat up
But not really I guess
Yeah, I mean she gets cut up running through the woods and that's what it is
Yeah, she's a little bit bloody but not much right right and then she like comes crawling out under the drive in screen where they're showing the right and there's a the preacher there being all like that's why we shouldn't show this movie and it's the great????? the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. I'm they. Yeah. Yeah, they. I's they. I they. I. I. I. I. I they. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I the. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the why we shouldn't show this movie. And it's the great Edward Herman.
Yeah, the head vampire from Lost Boys.
God rest his soul.
From the Gilmore Girls.
What's this now?
Kilmore, who's?
He was on the Gilmore girls.
Don't look at me like that.
Never seen it.
It's a good show.
A lot of people like it. But this was his last movie, which is very much a shame. It's also Ed Lotter's last movie.
He was one of the cops.
I forget his name, how to say his name.
It was his last movie as well.
Oh, okay.
So I'm sorry that both of their careers ended with this boo-poo.
So Jamie gets back and there's the people find her under the movie screen
and then we my next note. What's your next note?
Texas cops.
That's it?
Yeah.
I think because they're all wearing those huge hats, I mean, they're being Texas Rangers.
Yeah, yeah.
Lumber.
Which, are Texas Rangers just state cops of Texas?
Like how we have just state patrolers?
Oh, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I they're they're they're they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I. I. I. I. I they. I. I. I. I they. I they. I they. I they're they're they're th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thea. I'm th. I'm thea. I'm th. I they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're ris show. My father religiously watched that show, but as far as I could tell, Texas Rangers were ninjas.
So I'm not really sure.
So then, blah, blah, yada, yada,
cuts to these people having sex very athletically.
And it seems to be like, settle down, it's fine, just wait for marriage, like everyone else.
That's a chair. So afterwards, she's like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm th, I, I'm th, I, I, I, I, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm then, I'm then, I'm then, I'm then, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm th. That's a that's a chair. So afterwards she's like I want something from the vending machine he goes to leave.
Yeah, she stands in front of the window topless.
Why are women in horror movies always doing this?
If I may, yeah.
Tiddies.
I see.
She does, during their athletic sex she has to hold her hand in front of her vagina
so you don't see it.
Oh really?
Yeah.
Great.
Yeah, it was weird.
Like, I don't know.
I don't know.
Yeah, she should have been wearing a lennae, a quickly crotch.
Oh my god.
Oh, I forgot about that.
No, no, no, no, no, I won't, now I won't. So she jumps out a window or something and breaks her leg, which is very gross and I very
much enjoyed that.
I think that was my favorite part was her leg breaking.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
I love hate a broken leg.
What's that called?
Was that called?
It's a certain type of break.
Is it a compound?
I don't know.
Whatever that's called. that, I that, I that, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I'm, I that, that, that, that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was a that, I was a that, I was a th..... that's tha, that's tha... that's that's that's that's that's that's that was that that's that's a that was that's that's that that particular break where it goes through the skin is called is extra narly
I had a I had one of those as a kid in my own
Oh, didn't go through the skin this it the bone just like poked up and you could see the edges of it pushing through my little skin It was awful little skin yeah, little skin. Oh, this is another thing that I liked it oh, very little skin. Oh, thi? Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, tho, I tho, I didn't tho tho tho tho tho, I didn't tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho th, I th, I th, I didn't th, I didn't th, I didn't th, I didn't th, I didn't th, I didn't th, I didn't th, I didn't th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I thin, I thin, I didn't thin, I didn't thin, I didn't thin, I didn't thin, I didn't thin, I didn't thin, I didn't thin, I didn't thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo' then breaks the window with it. Yeah that was great. I really like. Also very mean.
A mean movie. Very mean. You know I was in a mean mood. It felt good. So yeah
breaking a window with a severed head is that's that's pretty balls.
Yeah. The next note I have says gotta get a new boyfriend so I guess
this is when she meets the boyfriend at the archives.
Yeah, who's immediately smitten with her.
Yeah.
That was an eye rule.
I was convinced for the duration of this movie, that he was.
Convinced.
Oh yeah, sure.
Convinced.
Honestly, I wouldn't have been surprised about the end of the movie she had taken the hood off and been to kill her. Look, that's how dumb this was.
It's a, yeah, it's basically a who done it, which I like.
And has a lot of red herrings, which I also like, but it ultimately makes no sense.
Yeah, it was a little bit too much of a who cares of a who done it.
Jenny. That's good. And so now our heroine.
Jenny.
Jenny.
Nope, Jamie.
Jillian.
Jemiracquai.
Yes.
Yes.
I love that song.
What was this?
What happened to Jamirquai?
His hat ate him.
So she's doing research on this because in grand gigalo fashion she
has to look up everything because the cops aren't doing dick. And I'm very
confused about where she is in life at this point. She's not going to school
seemingly. Well would you? Would you? Yeah she's like in an in-between phase
between high school and college I think like I guess. She's sort of well like doesn't she go back to school at some point I thought th? th th th th th the th th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to to to to th. th. to to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. to te. te. toda. today. today. today today today today toe. I to the. I th. I't she go back to school at some point? I thought so, but then it turns out that she like, later it turns out that she got into
college and they're leaving the next day.
Right.
So why were you still going to high school?
Well, the timeline in this movie is just like, boom, boom, boom.
It's just going to be at Halloween. Do you? Thanksgiving graduations? Sure, everyone does. You draw your hand turkey and put a little graduation camp on it.
That's adorable.
She lives with her grandmother who is played by, what's her face from alien?
Lambert?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
She's great.
She also has the saddest line in this movie, which I think we'll probably get to later.
Oh, Veronica Cartwright you're speaking of, yeah. She was not in law and order to the best of my knowledge. Bum-bomb. Bum. Bum. Bum. Bound. Bound. Bound. Bound. The next thing I have says, this is so Scooby-Doo.
Yeah, well at some point Anthony Anderson shows up as lone wolf Morales. Did they ever say his name
the name was lone wolf? what? He's like, I prefer
a lone wolf. There's like a scene where he's talking about calling me Lone Wolf, which
was just harping back to the original movie because it's such a weird role for him. It's such weird,
underdeveloped, underdeveloped role, yeah. Can we just move on to the two guys
that are parking in the car? That's why I was saying it was so scubby-do because they're in like a abandoned amusement park. Yeah. And like Mr. Withers is going to the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. that's going that's going that's going the th. thi thi. that's going thi. that's going un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, th. It's un, un, th. It's, under under under under under under under under under, under under under, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, un, the the the the, the, the, under under under-a, under-a, under-a, under-a, under-a, under-a, under-a, under-s under-a, under-s under-a, under-s under-a, under-a, the athletic sex scene, I did not like the how do we give each other a blow job scene.
I felt that sort of charming of like we just are figuring this out.
I found it kind of like. So what do we do? I don't know. I figured you'd go down there? It was very uncomfortable, but I think it was yeah, maybe I was just like it felt like it had gotten two kids from like community theater to do the scene like. the, I, I, I, I, I, I the the their, I their, I their, I their, I their, I their, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I felt, I felt like, I felt like, I felt, I that, I felt tho, I felt tho, I felt tho, I felt tho, I felt that, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt th. th. th. th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I the, I their, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt, I felt like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they'd gotten two kids from like community theater to do the scene.
Oh, I don't think it felt they did. They 100% did. And this is where they work in the trombone
because these guys have been playing in the band that was at the party, the Thanksgiving party or something?
I don't know, who cares. Where it had been announced that someone shot the killer? the the the the the the the th. Because the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. th. th. th. th. th. their, their, their, they. they. that. that. they. they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, I. they're, I they're, I they're, I they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. I. I. they's. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. they're, they're, the their. I. I'm, their. their. I'm, t. t. te. I'm te. te. te. te. te. te. th. I don't th. I don't they're they're, I theythat someone shot the killer. Right.
Because he shows up at the vigil?
Well, this kid that you see earlier wearing the town that dreaded sun-down t-shirt,
which is a really nice shirt.
I'd wear that shirt.
Yeah, which is a black print on orange.
Yeah.
Freight rags, maybe.
So, yeah, he apparently has a screw-up he has long hair as far as I can imagine. That's how you know. Yeah. You gotta watch out for the kids with long hair, the teens.
He practically was wearing a trench coat.
This movie makes me want to defend teens, unlike the last film, which maybe want to sterilize
everyone on earth and just be done with teenagedom.
So yeah, he's a little bit disturbed and goes and puts on the of the phantom. Yeah. And immediately gets shot. Yeah, by a Marine who says, I killed him, I killed him.
How much trouble do you think that Marine got into?
In Texas?
Probably not that much.
So everyone thinks the killer has been killed.
Yeah.
No investigation has been done yet.
We're 20 minutes in. Well, just from the standpoint of everyone in town, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, to to be, to be to be to be, too, to be to to to the the the from the standpoint of everyone in town, like give it a little bit, figure out
if this is a, you know, just some copycat or whatever.
So the guys in the band get killed.
One of them is like driving away in his car,
and I was like, yeah, he's gonna get away.
Fucking rucks it.
Like, immediately.
Come on, guy. destiny in your own hands, you know. What does the phantom spell out in like
movie theater or in like giant sign letters? He spells out phantom and then
something else. Yeah it was like on the ground around the dudes after they were
like strung up because he like kind of strings them up. Yeah I have no idea.
Oh could be anything. Okay. Phantom of the opera. Phantom planet. Fantom limb. We're the best note takers ever. Phantom...
Pittsburgh phantoms? They were like a roller hockey team or something? Roller hockey team.
Roller hockey. I don't know. Oh, did we mention that when the two kids who get killed in the junkyard in the sign junkyard? Yeah, it's just a junk car for signs.
It's an amusement park. No, it's an amusement park.
There's no amusement in signs.
It's abandoned.
No, because there's a sign for the preacher there, just like a huge billboard.
No, no, you imagine that.
Yeah, that's where we see the trombone kill.
That's where he recreates the trombone kill and he and he the th and he's and he's and he's and he's and he's the trombone kill and he's stabbing the one kid in the back. Yeah. It's gross. I have the note that it was gross.
And I think, so in actual murder, in the actual murderers, the person who was murdered that
was in the band was a trumpet player.
And I think that kid was a trumpet player.
So I think they like got meta on meta and kind and find out that the preacher has so basically Jamie has been getting these
messages from the phantom he calls her from Corey's cell phone and says
actually first of all when he attacks her he says you need to make them
remember remember for Mary or remember Mary or something like that.
Right. And then he calls her from Corey cell phone and he says something about how this will
continue until she makes him remember, but the police won't let her talk to the press.
And then he gets, she gets an email from the phantom from like phantom phantom at Gmail.
thoom or something like that, like something totally absurd. Like Why does the Phantom 420 at Gmail.com?
So much better.
That's our new email.
Yep.
Where will Fambields?
420 at Gmail.
tocom.
Why does the Phantom email?
Well, we learn it's not.
It's not.
It's Reverend Cartwright, Akeaer, Edward Herman. But they don't they don't think think, think, th. T th. T th. T th. T th. T th. T th. T thin. T thin. T thin. T thin. T thin. Ttink. Tthe. Tthey. No, immediately he's really, we know you're not the phantom, you're just a dick. You're just like an old guy, you're so old. He's a
bitter old white man. Yeah. And this is right around the time that Nick, Jamie's
new boyfriend and she go to meet Charles B. Pierce's son, Charles B. Pierce Jr. Is Charles, does Charles B. Pierce really? their son? Does Charles B. the. th. Does. Does. Does. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. th. the. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the you think he thought of this? I'm sure it was fucking bummed.
As a person who lives in a trailer and drinks Yeagermeister.
And just thinks about their dad constantly.
Yeah.
It was like, get your own life, Charles B. Pierce, Jr.
I bet you do.
There was, I think it was on IMDBBDB that I that I was reading, that I was reading, that I was reading, that I was reading, that I was reading, that I was reading, that I was reading, that I was reading, movie so much and are so rude to Charles We Pierce Jr. That's really I think a fair
statement because I was reading about how this movie came about and it was that
someone told the guy who ended up writing and or directing it or whatever however
movies get made they brought it to him and they were like you should do
this and he was like oh yeah I'll do this like he had no affection for it he didn't know it existed like it just feels very
this dirty disrespectful or something yeah for sure like it's not it's just
not it's just it there's no love that's exactly yeah there's no love I mean
it almost seems like there's no love for the genre at all there's
just like these movies are violent right just make this this thin v. Yeah and the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their so so their their so their so their their their their their their their their their their the movie their their movie movie the movie the movie the movie movie the movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie the the the the the the movie movie movie the the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movies just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just m. the movies. the movies the movies the movies the movies the movies the movies the movies. the movies the movies the movies the movies the movies the movies are just. these movies are just. These movies these movies these movies these movies Yeah, and one of the things they do in this movie is copy the order of deaths from the original movie which is kind of a clever
thing to do. Yeah, yeah, but they're all like... They're all meaner versions of
the original deaths. Exactly. Yeah. At this point they realize that that's what's
happening, that the next death?
And they're like, it's the farmhouse death.
And he goes, every damn house out here's a farmhouse.
Which was the only good line in the movie, I will say.
Wait, I thought to yourself that Veronica Cartwright had a good line in this movie, too.
A sad line.
Oh, sad line. So, after Charles Biers Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce Pierce. Pierce Jr. has been visited is when we meet up with Tillman, aka Lumberg,
who has gone to a bar and picked up a lady because, you know, he took care of that thing.
He was there when that guy was shot, so everything's fine now. So it's time for him to pick up a nice
lady and go back to his house for what I can only describe as a gross job.
Yeah, total gross beager. Yeah, it it was real narly, but they recreate the farmhouse scene because he gets shot in the eye.
And then she gets chased. Yeah, a role originally played by Marianne from Gilligan's Island.
She's so cute in it. She's actually very good in it. It was a jarring to have her in that. Yeah, I feel like she was so to be ajaring to have her in that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. I's. I's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. Yeah. I'm. Yeah. I'm. I'm. Yeah. I guess. I'm. I'm. Yeah. I guess. I'm. I guess. I'm. Yeah. I guess. Yeah. Yeah. I guess. I'm the. I guess. I'm the. I the. I the. I the good girl next door that she could never be it would be hard for her to be other things. Yeah and she was just so instant like you know obviously
she had problems getting work after Gilligan's Island because she was just
Marianne she was no one else on earth she was not this woman that's kind of
not get murdered. Now she's a weed legalization advocate and she really go
Mary Ann. Maybe she's Marianne 420 GEMF.com.
So yeah, so they get killed by the mid-blow job.
He's like drinking a beer and like, there's a gun next to it.
It's very gross.
Oh man.
The next line I have, or the next note I have doesn't make any sense to me.
Okay.
This is the plot of final destination. What did I mean by that? The death is hunting them down. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi they thi thi tho th. So they get they get they get they get they get they get they get they get they get they get they get they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. So the. So the. So theateate. So theate. So theateate. So theat. So the. So theate. So the. So the. So they to me. Okay. Says this is the plot of final destination What did I mean by that? The death is hunting them down? I guess?
You can't escape death? I guess?
Final destination does. Before the blowjob though because then the next one I have says doesn't it seem like lumber should be drinking coffee right now? I don't know. The final destination has that great scene where the girl walks in front of the bus. I love that first one one? the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I th. I th. I the the the tho the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I things. I things. I things. things. things. things. things. things. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the front of the bus. I love that. First one's not
bad. I think we've mentioned that a number of times they're like, you see him this way, it's
good. So they go see Charles B. Pierce Jr. Yeah. He's a weird alcoholic creeper. Yeah.
Yeah, that lives on a houseboat in the middle of the knot boat. Right. It was in a the houseboat boat. And he just was the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the thi. Yeah. thi. Yeah. th. th. th. th. the th. th. thi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. I th. I th. I th. I's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thee. th. th. th. theee. th. th. th. thee. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. it wasn't the totally. It was not water. And he just has an open bottle of Yeager Meister. Yeah.
Straight up, nobody's drinking Yeager Meister except college students, right?
But he has like the party size, too.
He doesn't just have the little ones that you occasionally buy when you're at the
liquor store because you're like, this will try throw up. It just tastes like vomit. We've all thrown it up. All I'm done. And he gives them the opinion
that this fellow named Hank McCready was murdered
and not given, it was given really short shrift.
And so the phantom might be Hank McCready's grandson.
Boiler alert, yeah.
He's right.
Yeah. At that point, I was convinced that her boyfriend was hanging McCready's grandson. Oh, okay. And he's totally playing it up.
He's totally like looking sideways at her.
And he's like, oh, this is so dumb.
And he has like, get a damn.
Yeah.
Weird, hipster, sad feelings.
And he has already had this like scene of being like, my parents,
didn't love me and they died, or whatever it is, you know.
totally has to be the killer. He's not. No. Fucking piss me off. I have a series of notes that say I was so convinced it was the
boyfriend and then maybe it's grandma and then guess it's not grandma either.
So they do they follow this Hank McCready line.
Hank McCready's wife is named Mary and it turns out that cops have already sort of followed this line of logic I remember correctly and they kind of the tho...... th. th. th. th. to to to to to to to to to tot. I tot. I tot. I tot. I tot tot tot tot all tot all tot all tot all tot all tot all tot all tot all tot all totally tot all tot all tot tot only tot only tot, totl-I totl-I totl-I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I tot tot tot tot tot tot tot tot tot all tot all tot all totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally when she brings them this idea. Yeah she gives the like the file about
Hank McCready's great or Hank McCready to the cop that's like been stationed
outside her house. Oh right before she's getting ready to leave for school.
Yeah because her grandmother finds out that she's been accepted to
school in California and she's like we'll leave before You guys hate sundown, wait till the sun comes up. Yeah, just wait. This is when the saddest line is. They get in the car to drive to California.
And she says, I've never left Texas in my life.
Lady, you live on the Texas Arkansas border.
You're like, your Wegmans or whatever,
is probably in Arkansas.
Like, what is your Wegmans,, your Myers, whatever you guys have down there. Whatever you guys have. You got a Kroger's? I don't know.
I think Kroger's might be up here.
Not even up here.
Down, whatever, who knows.
You got a piggly, wiggly?
Well, you're skipping, that skips the completely non-emotional
sex movie. I felt like very uncomfortable during the scene and then I realized I think it's just
because she's like childishly small but I felt like he was having sex with a child.
Oh and she was she's like a college freshman age so it's fine. She's a tiny baby.
Yeah she's clownishly small.
Clownishly, tiny clown child. So as she's driving out of town with Meemol, she pulls into a gas station.
No people, just Mee-Paul.
Mee-Maw is really nice.
She's a really nice lady.
She's really nice.
So they pull into a gas station and then the phantom starts opening fire on the gas station,
kills grandma.
Still Jamie is getting away.
She's still escaping.
Killed the gas station attended too. Bummer. Dude didn't do anything wrong. No, no, no, no need.
Also, this has just gone off the rails. It's not the story anymore. It's not the talent.
This is one of the things that I felt was fundamentally flawed about this movie.
Why was, why did he turn on her?
Why did he become so into killing her and everyone around her?
Please don't make me try to parse it out of this nonsense.
I, but that's our job.
Unpaid, unappreciated job.
You guys even bought us that Warby Lanchet.
So.
I said that's like San Francisco was selling a bunch of buses, an old buses or something.
Maybe not San Francisco. Who wants to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to that that that that that's to that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I that's. I's like. I's like. I's like. something that's like maybe we could get one of those. San Francisco. Maybe not San Francisco. I mean.
Who wants to drive out a bus from San Francisco to us?
I bet we could get a chain going.
You know.
My friend Peter lives in San Francisco and I know he listens to this.
So get one of those buses.
If you can drive it to like Utah.
I bet we'll pick it up somewhere in like Cincinnati. That's a long try from Utah.
Well, no, then he'll take it to like, I don't know, Iowa?
What the fuck? I don't know.
Well, you do not know geography.
I'm moving east, are I not?
Am I not?
I'm kind of going up.
Any who, so Jamie... And they get a cocking forward, the river the river the river the river the river the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the river, the the the the the the the tho, the the the the the the tho, tho, the tho, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. t. t. t. t. tod, tod. tod. to. today. to. to. to. to. to.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a. to.a. to. to. to. Oh, and they get a cock-and-forward the river, Alan?
I don't know.
So Jamie is being chased by the phantom.
Why? I'm sorry, but why?
Because he has to kill her.
Okay, I see.
She's done nothing to anyone.
Well, she...
And then...
I don't know. It's not explained. She gets knocked down. She doesn't get up again.
The phantom... You might keep her down. Oh, she's being chased by the phantom. She sees one phantom and then she sees another phantom.
What? Two phantoms? And I was like, oh, that's pretty cool. I want them to be like a third and a fourth and a fifth phantom. I want them to be like an armada of phantoms. I would would their their their their their their their their their their their they they they they they they they're they're they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like like they're like they're like they're like they're like they's they's they's they're they're they're like they're like they they they they they they they they they they they they they they. Oh. I they they they they like they like they like they like they like they like they like they like they like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like an ar like. I like. I like. I'm like. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want. I want their. There was just two. Just two. Which, we are about to divulge the screaminess of this movie.
Because this movie is fucking, it just, it was like at the end of like, I don't know, where did Scream do at the end of the movie?
I feel like you're coming down on Scream again, I feel like youthis movie was just like, oh at the end of scream
it turned out that it was her boyfriend. Yeah. Which Corey never got killed. They faked
Corey's death. Corey's, okay, well Corey's explanation. Yeah, it's horse shit. It's hard
to be Johnny fucking football hero. Oh is it Corey? It was fine for Johnny Utah in point break. It was a very like
Dawson's, not Dawson's Creek, it was a very like varsity blues, I don't want your life.
Sine where he was like, I can't be the quarterback forever. Like no you can't because you'll
graduate and do something else you fucking idiot. And the other phantom, she pulls the mask off and she goes,
Foster, and I was like, who is Foster?
And I was watching it with my dude friend.
And he's like, that's the cop who's been sitting outside her house all the time.
And I was like, no shit.
No idea what his name was.
For some reason these two nut barred, fucking Dullard's place. They know really, I just don't.
Well, okay, so Foster is Hank McCready's grandson and Charles B. Pierce, Jr. was right about that.
Right.
So when she gave him the file and was like, somebody should check this out, he realized that she was
on to him.
Although, it just seems like the dots could have been connected.
Yeah. They were not that far.
Right.
Yeah. They were not that far. Right. Yeah. Like his family had been
living in this tiny town for several generations. Right. So wouldn't people
have known? Yeah. Okay. And which may be why the cops immediately wrote it off is
like not an option because he was a fellow cop. Maybe. Sure. But Corey's
explanation doesn't make a fucking lick a dick. He just didn't want to be
Johnny football hero. He wanted to be part of something special or something like...
Then win the fucking big state game guy? Write a good book. What are you doing buddy? Why kill your girlfriend?
Why fake your own death have your mother be so upset at your funeral calling her a slut?
Yeah, I didn't understand that either where did they get the corpse that they rip the face off of to
I don't know. Yeah, there's too many yeah. No. There's too much bullshit. A drifter. I don't know And then it just goes into her Jamie doing like a narrative epilogue where she's like,
oh and by the way, this is how it all ended.
Yeah.
I went to school in California.
It's the, I know what you did last summer ending, where do you go up to college and
then you get attacked?
Right, but as she's, like as we're following her, walking on campus at the end of the movie, you can see the shadow of the phantom following her.
Who is it? She killed them both.
Er, no way, they never found Foster's body.
They never found Foster's body.
Who lets the body float away?
Who let's go to the body float away?
What kind of body?
Was it?
It was like a bog?
A bug? Deep as the bog. I don't know anything about bogs. Yeah. The love of God. This movie, I really, really, really did not like this movie.
Oh, we're probably gonna move on to the,
er, er, ratings phase then.
Three, whoa!
Done.
No, I have a lot to say, actually.
I really like the original of this movie, and I felt like this kind of shit all over over, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. the, th. th. I, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the the the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to to to to to to to to to to the, the, the, the, the, to the, to to the, the, to the, th. the, th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the. the the. tooo. too. too. too, to memory, especially because it's a movie that not a lot of people have seen,
and this probably brought it more into the,
It's definitely the Netflix mainstream, for sure.
Although to be fair, I only saw the original
because it went on Netflix in preparation
of the remake being released, but I loved it.
And this is just-
I think it's dumb and there's all this weird comedy in it, but it's fine like you'll like it
This is just nobody's trying and also we talked a little bit in the last episode about the last girl and that sort of trope
Which normally is a trope that I like when it's like Nev Campbell and Scream or like Jamie Lee Curtis or?
Jamie Lee Curtis or Heather Langan camp in Nightmare on Elm Street, like just this badass lady who, you know, fights her way out and lives to tell the tale.
Whereas I felt that the girl in this, and this is nothing against the actress, I feel that
this is how she was written.
This was like, like, all of her lines were like, you know, big a guy, I'm a picky baby.
Yeah. I could not understand a word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word saying and she was whining. Nothing about it was good. No.
Three.
Three.
Where do I come down on this movie?
I haven't really thought about my rating too hard, but I'm going to give this movie of four.
If anything, I'll give it a four for hopefully leading people back to the original,
because I think the original should be seen.
That's true. I only just saw the original original original original original original original original the original original original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the original the's true. I only just saw the original last year like and it's
fantastic it's great. I love Charles B. Pierce movies. They're kind of
crappy and kind of great at the same time. It's very silly. It's like that great
low-budget 70s just slasher. Yeah it's got long scenes that don't go
anywhere. Yeah like cop dialogue that just goes on for a fucking
a month and a half. Yeah, the cops are much more of a forefront than they are in this one.
They should have had a bumbling cop in this movie.
The spark plug scenes are weird.
There's like 15 minutes devoted to him losing the keys to a cruiser.
You know?
But it's got like that Duke Boys music.
It's so weird.
But, uh, this is a mean movie. If you like mean films, if you like horror movies that don't have any fun in them, you might enjoy this.
Like if you just want to watch people die and like there's no joy in that death.
It's just, it's a miserable mean movie.
I thought all the acting was fine, all of it was competent.
There was some really nice editing in this film. There were some really nice and I really like the way the intersplice the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way. I the way. I the way. I was the way. I was the way. I was the way. It was the way. It was the way. It was the way. It was the way. It was the way. It was the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. It was, their. It was, their. It was, their. It was nice. It was nice. It was nice. It was nice. It was nice editing. It's, the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the iced the old movie into this one. I thought that was really nice.
I thought the script was just a cop-out.
I really did think it was just like,
they just did what happened at the end of Scream
and like that was really annoying to me.
Like that the boyfriend was part of this. Yeah, it didn't make thi sense the the the the thin sense. It the thin sense. It thin. It thin. It thin. It thin. It thin. It thin. It that. It that. It that. It that. It that. It that. It that. It that. It was just that. It was just that. I thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. I thoom. I thoom. I thoom. I thoom. I thoom. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. No yeah that even like that makes so much more sense now having
having seen this. Yeah. So yeah. I hope it hurt his feelings that she replaced him so quickly
because like yeah literally six weeks later she's like with a dirt stash with dirt stash library boy.
Bookie McDirt stash. Yeah who reads books? You were just lambasting teens last week for not reading books.
That was last week.
Times there are changing.
So yeah, what do I say?
Four, yeah, four, man.
This, I'm not going to recommend this to anybody.
I was depressed.
There's so much better stuff to watch on Netflix.
The world, on the world.
I do want to mention that 80s horror net.
thii. I do want to mention that 80s horror.net is doing a thing where they're putting up all of the 80s horror movies that are on YouTube that you can watch for free.
So go there and like...
That rules.
I love that.
Yeah, I've watched some supremely shitty.
