Starting point is 00:00:00 A listener production. Hi, everybody. It's me, Zach Rewain from the Auntie Donna podcast. We have a very, very special episode today. Sam Lingham, who created the Judas character in the very early days of the podcast, is bringing a brand new character. And let me tell you, it is a very, very good one. You're in for a real treat. This is a new fan favorite, think enjoy Sam Lingan's character
Starting point is 00:00:27 If you want to watch the visuals of us doing this podcast head to Auntie Donna Club comm to watch Broden I can tack and sometimes I guess We hope you enjoy the motherfucking podcast Well, welcome back to the Aunty Donna podcast. Broden is still at his old media opportunity. He came back for a few weeks and then now he's gone back to it. This is not a situation where we recorded two without him. No. And then inserted some other podcasts with him in order to like keep it. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Mixed up. Broden has gone back to it. We're back on a different date. Most podcasts are too cowardly to go into the logistics of when they recorded themselves and when they released them. Not us though. Not us. Well because two people had a problem with it and we're petty. Yeah. And we were and but also we wear our hearts on our sleeve. And we're honest and we're real. And we heard that feedback. Yeah from like one person or two people on Reddit. One person that everyone disagreed with. And we just cannot get over that. Yeah. Just that slight fucking stab
Starting point is 00:01:52 at opinion of one particular individual. But that we're right. You know when you're bringing news as fresh and as hot as ours, our podcast is fresh. I can imagine, especially if you're, and I 100% assume that this person is not subscribed to the Patreon, I can imagine how frustrating it would be to just listen to the voice of someone that was not recorded the morning which you press play on the podcast. So that would just make me want to fucking go out there with a machete. Well, I had a, I have a podcast I listen to. And just cut cunts down. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Okay. I have a podcast that I listen to sometimes, right, and he just talks about like, he'll just talk to like different people that are interesting, um, about their entire careers and stuff and it's such a shame when I forget to listen to it the day it comes out because I'm like wow it's old now. I have no interest in listening to this guy. Makes my blood boil. Yeah what's the point? What is the point? Especially for me when it's not about current things. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Yeah, when it's just some dude talking about their life. When it's just whatever, if it's just like an irrelevant comedy podcast, it really gets my go. Yeah. So I was... The Oscars were on yesterday. Any hot takes. Any hot takes on the Oscars. That was two days ago.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Two days ago. Two days ago. No, I thought it was a good Oscars. I thought it takes on the Oscars those two days ago two days ago No, I thought it was a good Oscars I watched it for the first time in years because it happened on Labor Day Which was two days ago That was a hot day, but I can't remember it to be honest. I can't remember the Oscars because it was many months ago. But I remember it being a good year for the Oscars. I liked that there was lots of variety in the winners. I liked that the winner was a big Oscar-y movie that
Starting point is 00:03:55 hasn't happened in a long time. It was fun. And I'm glad Maestro didn't win. Poor Bradley Coops. No, not poor Bradley Coops. Poor Bradley Coops. Give him an Oscar. No, it's... Give him a little Oscar. You watch even just a little bit of Maestro and you're like... Give Coops an Oscar. He's like, oh this man is... This man is going for something that it's not... there's not an ounce of earnestness. He wants a little Oscar. He put a fake nose on. He was like, I'll win an Oscar. He wants a little Oscar. Give him an Oscar. He wants a little ask give him an Oscar If you want an Oscar, I'll give you an Oscar
Starting point is 00:04:28 You know, you should have got it for silver lining's playbook, you know great performance Wonderful. Yeah, not for maestro. Fuck off. Just give him an Oscar Fuck off. Give him an Oscar. It doesn't matter. Yeah, I mean that is the biggest thing for me about the Oscars is Who gives a fuck? Yeah, I mean that is the biggest thing for me about the Oscars is who gives a fuck Yeah, have you noticed? No one gives a fuck. Have you noticed they all go to actors? They do all go to actors except for the best director. Yeah, and sometimes that goes to an actor. Well, you know best producer
Starting point is 00:04:59 Sometimes that goes to an actor. Well, not best producer, not an award for best producer. Michael Robbie is a producer. Yeah, exactly. So best producer, it's not an award for best producer. Michael Robbie's a producer. Yeah, exactly. So best picture, you know, she would get up and down. She was nominated for a... Not best visual effects. Sometimes that goes to a director. Sometimes that goes to a director.
Starting point is 00:05:14 In fact, it would have with Godzilla Minus One. I believe he was the director of the BFX school. Yeah, he was. And an incredible film. Anyway, we're not here to talk about Oscar buzz, which happened months ago, I can barely remember it. But we are here to introduce Sam Lingham. And Sam has a new character for us.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Now we had Sam on a few weeks ago. We didn't get to his character because we met a very interesting fella. Yes, we did. Who was a data entry guy who lived in Melbourne. Mm-hmm. And we went on a journey, didn't we? We did. From memory, he loved fried rice and was a manager
Starting point is 00:05:56 and he caught on his PS4 was broken. I don't remember much other than that. No. But I remember him being really interesting. Yeah. I have a vague sense of like don't read a book. Don't read a book. Don't read a book. Don't read a book. Especially if it doesn't have a cover. Don't read a book. Don't read a book. Even if it's got a cover. Even if it's got a cover. Yeah. Sam, you've got a new character. Old fans
Starting point is 00:06:22 of the pod know you for Judas, but you've got a new character. Old fans of the pod know you for Judas, but you've got a new character. You teased his name, what's his name? You tickled us under the pits last time you were here with a little teaser. I gave you a little tease. I felt like I was the star of the documentary Tickled. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:37 When you, cause you piqued my interest and as an old rich man who's a bit weird, gave me a stiffy. What is the character's name again I've forgotten? Well, well, her name is Bobby T. I can't wait. Bobby T. Should we just introduce, or do you want to talk about Bobby T.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Or do you want to just bring her in? Should we talk about the origins of Bobby T. How do you want us to meet Bobby T? I don't know. Or show. I'm mild't know. All show? I'm mildly terrified. Are you? Yeah he was like when he said at the start of this he said I got a great character that you don't need to know anything it's gonna bring the house down. Well because the last character, the last character did.
Starting point is 00:07:19 The last character that you introduced on the podcast over eight years ago something like that. Yeah. A huge fan favorite, Judas. Where's Judas? Bring back Judas. People know Judas. I worry that people might not know this character.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Because is this also a biblical character? No. No, Bobby T is not based on anyone in the Bible. Sam, how do you want to bring in Bobby T? What do you want to do? Do you want to just bring Bobby T in? Do you want us to talk to you about Bobby T? B-O-B-B-I-E-T-E-A? I think it's Y. It's Y. B-O-B-B-Y just T? I think I'd have to
Starting point is 00:07:52 look it up. Yeah. Oh it's a real person. Sam just bring in Bobby T. Maybe you don't have to. Alright let's go. No but is it alright you just want to do it? Yeah bring it on. Hey, I'm Bobbin! How you doin'? Right here, Bobbin T, Bobbin T, Bobbin T! Hey! Hello, Bobbin T, how are you today? Hey!
Starting point is 00:08:12 Hello, Bobbin T, how are you today? Inquiet! If you're just tuning in, we've got head writer Sam Lingham in. He's got a new character called Bobbin T. I went to high school with Daniel Eck! He went to high school with Daniel Eck. He went to high school with Daniel Eck. Bobby T. Oh Daniel Eck. Who's Daniel Eck. The founder of Spotify. So Bobby T is a real person. I'm real. I'm so real. Bobby T. I'm not real. Bobby T. Wow. Wow. I was not... Sam, you know, he's a writer, you know, he's known for his...
Starting point is 00:08:47 He often, you know, if I'm going to be real for a moment... Be real. Be real. If I'm going to be real and give an insight into the process, our biggest points where we, Sam and I clash is often, I'm often trying to get more space in a scene or in a shoot to play big characters and be silly. Sam really loves cleverly written dialogue.
Starting point is 00:09:10 He likes to get his writing in, I would say. We call it a clash of the titans. Well, no, I just think, you know, there's always differences of opinions and it's a fair, it's that balance that finds the greatness. So what I was expecting was something more from that school and that I get this. Well, what a treat. Hi, Bobby T. Hi, I'm Bobbit.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Bobbity, Bobbity, Bobbity. Bobby T, you love to say your name. I'm Bobbit. You're Bobbit? Yeah. Is that you're Bobbit? Yeah. Okay, he's Bobbit.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Now, Bobby T, you went to high school with the guy that started Spotify. Yeah! I'm real! You're real? You're real. You are a real person. I'm real! See, this is why I would have liked to have known some origin. We should have. This was my call. I said it'd be fun if we just met Bobby T in the podcast. Bobby T?
Starting point is 00:10:04 Are you aware enough? A little bit of context would help me. Are you aware enough to be able to talk about yourself as a fictional character? I'm a musician. He's a musician. I'm a woman. You're a woman.
Starting point is 00:10:20 I'm real. Bobby T is a woman that is real. Are you able to talk about how Sam got onto this idea, Bobby T? Who's Sam? I can't, that's a problem. Okay, well then maybe we can, can we? Yeah. And not say that I'm not enjoying Bobby T. Because I am.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Bobby T doesn't have a lot to say, but I did learn from previous experiences that investigating a character can often lead to them having been given the powers of a wizard. Can I ask a question? Yes please. Were you given the powers of a wizard by a wizard in Tokyo? No, I was almost given a record deal but had to make money as an artist and Spotify changed. Okay so I'm starting to see a little bit of a thing here. So Bobby T went to high school with the guy that started Spotify. Daniel Ek! Daniel Ek.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Ek! Ek! Ek! Ek! Ek! Daniel Ek. Ek! Egg.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Ek! Egg. Ek! Ek! Ek! Like Aaron Ek. Like. Egg. Egg. Like, like Aaron, egg. Like an omelette, like you're making an omelette out of an egg.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Egg. Egg. Daniel, egg. No, like, no, like, egg heart, but without the heart. Like egg heart. No, egg, why are you just thinking egg? Egg. Why are you just thinking egg sounds like egg now?
Starting point is 00:11:40 The heart of an egg is a yolk. I can't even fucking begin to deal with this. I'm real. You're real. Bobby T is a real woman and I imagine, I went to high school, the creator of Spotify and now as a musician is finding it hard to make money and I guess ruse the day that they knew Aaron Eck. Daniel Eck. Daniel Eckhart huh? Darren Egg. He was my friend from high school and he come to my gig. Darren Egg came to your gig? Daniel Eck! Daniel Eck.
Starting point is 00:12:11 And then he started Spotify? This was in the time of he was trying to reckon with the ideology of Spotify replacing part by an ethics of a full artist, making music accessible for the people. That's a lot of information. This character is the spiritual successor to Judas. Well, you don't, do you? Because you are Bobby T. Judas was bad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Right. Bobby T was a musician who needed Aaron Egg, the founder. Daniel Egg! Daniel Egg. Egg! Daniel Egg the, yes, Daniel Egg. Egg! Egg.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Egg? Egg! Yeah, Egg. Bobby T is a stickler for pronunciation. I'm Bobbit. Bobbit. What instruments do you play Bobby T? I'm a vocalist and maybe other things I can't remember
Starting point is 00:13:06 You can't remember? But you are Okay, let's Time out? Let's have a time out But not a joke one, like a real one Like a real one What's going on? Hey Sam Is it going well? I think it's going very well Yeah I think it's good
Starting point is 00:13:24 I have some questions So I've got some questions. So, because this is the follow up to Judas and I'm so excited to see people on the fan forums. People have been saying, bring back Judas. But it's like, we don't, we're not like that. We don't, I don't think we've ever done like a repeat character on a podcast before. We're very much one and done. That's the JJ.J. Abrams way and we like to think of ourselves more like as George Lucas's.
Starting point is 00:13:49 We give the people what they don't even know they want. Exactly. Oh, you thought you wanted a planet full of Chewbacca's? No, I'm gonna give you small Chewbacca's. Tiny little Chewbacca's. Is that what that was originally? It was gonna be a Wookie planet and then they were like, I think they were like, we can make more money if they're cute little toys. Good on him.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Look, he's a man with motivations that are solely surrounded around the idea of money now and completely creatively bankrupt. But now, in my opinion, now I believe the prequels are nothing but toy commercials. I don't think anyone else has that opinion. No, it's a hot take. It's a hot take. And this is why you were so glad when JJ Abrams came and fixed the franchise. Oh, it was so-
Starting point is 00:14:42 Twice. Twice. Twice. Fixed it twice. Because it was dipping for a moment, but he came back and he saved it. No one else thinks this. Now, Bobby T. Hey, tell us about Bobby T, Sam. Well, have you guys seen the Swedish limited series called The Playlist? No.
Starting point is 00:15:02 You haven't seen, okay, this might be a bit confusing if you haven't seen that series. Right. So that series, it's about the founding of Spotify. Okay. Right. In that series and each episode follows a different real person. Right. So there'd be like an episode about the the record label guy or Daniel Eck, the founder, or the marketing person. There's also an episode on Bobby T who is not a real person. What do you mean? Is Bobby T like an imagined artist? The analog for artists within the universe of this show, which is all about real people, is Bobby T.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Is it a, it's a limited series. It's a limited series. It's not a documentary series. No, it's fictionalized, but it's, each episode is about like a real person. And they've made up a character called Bobby T. Who represents all artists. Rather than find an artist with an interesting story
Starting point is 00:16:00 and just incorporate them into the mix. No, no, Bobby T went to high school with Daniel Ek. Which I guess adds some emotional complexity, right? and just incorporate them into the mix. No, no, Bobby T went to high school with Daniel Ek. Which I guess adds some emotional complexity, right? Yeah, because Bobby T's like, how could you do this to me? Yeah, she's already struggling to make money. She's already struggling to make money. And then she's got a daughter at home.
Starting point is 00:16:18 And then Aaron Ek fucks her over. Daniel, well he doesn't really do it. And then she ends up actually. Is Aaron Ek painted as the enemy? He's not, it doesn't really do it. She ends up actually. She ends up as the enemy. He's not, it doesn't have a, I don't know for better or worse, it doesn't really say. Twenty years ago, if you would ask me what's a genre that I think is underrated, I would have said historical dramas set in the very, very recent past. I thought, like I love The Queen. I used to think that's such
Starting point is 00:16:47 a cool thing to do, to set something in a past that hasn't been formalized by history yet. I have changed my opinion. The last few years has been a little rough for that genre. Yeah. Yeah, that's fair. The creator of The Crown said he does, I think he now has a 20 year limit. He doesn't go any closer in history than 20 years. That makes sense. Because he's like, that's how long it takes to find, he's like, there are things happening right now that we think are really important that we won't remember. And he said, there are things happening right now that we think are really important that we won't remember. And he said there are things happening right now that we don't even know about that are
Starting point is 00:17:28 the most important things. And this series sounds like maybe it was a little soon to talk about Aaron Egg and his friend Bobby T. Daniel Egg. Right. Maybe. Oh, so is that more of you coming with the character? Yeah, is that you being...
Starting point is 00:17:43 His name's Daniel Egg. Yeah, Aaron Egg. That's what I'm saying. It Yeah, is that you being... His name's Daniel Eck. Yeah, Aaron Eck. That's what I'm saying. It's Daniel Eck. And does Bobby T sound like that? No, not at all. So you've added that like... They are Swedish, but no.
Starting point is 00:17:56 In no way, shape or form. Right. I think with all of this context, I'm happy to get to know Bobby T more. I'm also happy to bring Bobby T in, like at at a later date when Broden's in and we'll introduce Bobby T to Broden. I would love, I would love because the chances of Broden hearing this episode, he listens to it. He's of us, he's the most likely to listen to it. So we'll just have to ask him not to. Yes. And what I would like from you, dear listeners, is I would say, and I already know that you
Starting point is 00:18:29 love Bobby T, but regardless of your thoughts on Bobby T, let's do a little joke for Brodom. I would love if every single one of you, and please know that Broden will not know this because we're gonna tell him not to listen to this episode. I would love for people to be like, Bobby T is fucking sick. And let's not put Bobby T on any of the social posts. Let's not reveal Bobby T. I would like to keep Bobby T hidden from Broden.
Starting point is 00:19:02 I want everyone out there, I want you to be tweeting. I want you to be on the Reddit all in earnestness. Instagram comments, TikTok comments. Don't just be like, Bobby T is the character for me. Don't play it too big. And don't get too repetitive. Try to find your own way of saying it and try to respond to each other as well.
Starting point is 00:19:21 So do things like just say, like, great episode. Bobby T is such a funny character. And then respond under it with something like, I know, right? Not what I was expecting at all. But absolutely loved it. And then I think for balance, also some other people jumping in there go, I do miss Judas. Like just a bit of like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I prefer South African Sam. Let's try and find a nice balance. Read through the comments before you do that. We only want like a couple of like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, let's try this nice balance. Read, read through the comments before you do that. We only want like a couple of them. And I want to be clear here. Now the reason why I think this would just be a great little bit is that for Broden to have this air of what's Bobby T, I'm excited for Bobby T. And we have to tell him to not listen to it because we're like, we want your genuine reaction to it. I mean, that is really the point of it is I just want to see his genuine
Starting point is 00:20:09 reaction. The other thing is you immediately got Bobby T. So to anyone listening, you heard Bobby T and you got it. You don't have to say that, but that's the implication. There was no explanation about who Bobby T was. You're like, yeah, I know that character. He hinted the name, and I was like, yep, I know who that is. And you just thought that was such a funny take on such a clear character. Well known, I think.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Well, yeah, just being like fucking nailed it. It's something about just being like Sam nailed it. And it's one of those characters that maybe you're like, oh, yes, of course, I would never think to do Bobby T. The auntie done a podcast. But now it's like of course Sam did it what a great fucking choice that's so cool love Bobby T love the satire of Bobby T yep you got Bobby T any other thoughts on Bobby T no I think that that's great no I just think that'll be a fun thing. Hey, let's try it. You know, we don't often do large-scale pranks
Starting point is 00:21:26 On this podcast two people in the podcast. Also it's hard because we bank we bank these podcasts. We bank them like crazy We fucking bank them up, man So, I don't know How we're gonna time this. We're doing eight, nine a day. I don't know how we're gonna time this, man I don't know how we're getting time this, man. Cause should we also at the end of that episode, just as a fun prank, pour like a quarter of a cup of water on Broden? Yes. Like just a small amount of water.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Just a small amount of water. Just to prank him a bit. So, but what will happen is this will come out and then we will that week, and Lindsay will be on top of this. The week that this episode comes out, the next podcast that we record will be the Broden's reaction to Bobby T. Broden meeting Bobby T. Yeah, but we have to like, we can't put Bobby T in any of the social clips. We can't let
Starting point is 00:22:18 Broden listen to it. So if you're a loved one of Broden's, take every time he's putting headphones in, rip them out of his fucking ears. Don't do that if you're a loved one of Broden's, take every time he's putting headphones in, rip them out of his fucking ears. Don't do that if you're a stranger on the street. Don't bother him. Leave him alone. He's a person too. You don't actually know him.
Starting point is 00:22:36 You don't actually know him well enough. You can go up and be like, oh hey, Aunty Donna, can I get a photo? Nice. Don't you fucking dare mention Bobby T and don't you fucking dare touch him but you can touch Mark and Zach you know depending on the circumstance I don't mind being touched but just not by weirdos don't do a bit don't do a bit if you want to shake my hand just make sure your hand is dry too many wet hands out there. Some people got the thing though. Some people got a clammy hand.
Starting point is 00:23:08 I'm not talking about a sweaty hand. I'm talking about an unidentified liquid wet hand. Feel my hand. Clammy hand right now. That's fine. I don't mind the... That's not... That's not... Your hand is quite clammy. Mine? Oh, the hypocrisy. No, mine's dry as a bone. Let me feel that hand.
Starting point is 00:23:24 I got dry hands If you subscribe to the undead honor club, you can see us touching hands. You have cold hands. Mark doesn't have clammy hands I just I realized that when he revealed himself to have a problem with clammy hands I don't I didn't say I have a problem with clammy hands. I've I don't have a problem with clammy hands I have a problem with hands that are that have been in a bucket of clams and it's got- That's a clammy hand. No. A clammy hand is someone, they sweat, they have wet clammy hands from their natural sweat. That's fine. I don't judge a person for that. We're still touching hands by the
Starting point is 00:23:57 way, everyone, and it feels quite nice. So you just jump on those comments. You jump on the Reddit. Don't try to be the one that started the Reddit. This is a teamwork thing If, don't try to be the one that started the Reddit. This is a teamwork thing. We don't want 20 Reddit threads saying, whoever gets in there first, good for you, you win. The way you then support us is when someone says, I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I think Bobby T is the best character they've ever come out of Darnit Donna. Things like, I to say I agree. I have to say I agree. Be like it's up there for best character for me. Really funny. Just be genuine and
Starting point is 00:24:32 earnest. Don't hype it too much. Don't go too hard and find the right fucking balance here otherwise it doesn't work. Someone else temper. Someone else someone getting in there and tempering and being like I don't know it's not quite for me. Yeah but if somebody's done that pull there and tampering and being like, I don't know, it's not quite for me, but maybe I don't know. But if somebody's done that, pull back. Pull back and be like, call them an idiot. Downvote them. I want one of you. No more than one. Downvote them to hell.
Starting point is 00:24:54 No more than one. I think like maybe like 10 is more realistic. No, just a few downvotes. But no more than one. I want one of you to make a burner account. Only one of you. Yeah. So once this has burner account, only one of you. So once this has been done, no one else is allowed to do this. One of you to make a burner account that says, I didn't get Bobby T. I thought it was too obvious, I thought it was too simple. I got
Starting point is 00:25:17 what they were going for, but I don't think it was funny and I really thought it was one of the worst characters they've done. One of you does that. Really tear to Bobby T, but specifically because it was too clear what the joke was. I want this on the Discord too, to be clear, alright? Because I know Mr. Kelly checks the Discord. So on the Discord too, alright? It's not like the Discord is a safe space where you can talk about the prank we're doing. No, no, no, no. There are no safe spaces.
Starting point is 00:25:42 There are no safe spaces. And I agree. One of you do that and then everyone downvote the hell out of that. Because that will also say how popular this character is. So make sure when you go on that Reddit thread, you say positive things about Bobby T and you downvote the one super negative thing about Bobby T. Yes. Those are your two jobs on the road.
Starting point is 00:26:05 Yeah. And don't fight. Don't fight. Like I said, don't fight to be the one to start the fucking thread. Don't be the one to fucking fight to be the negative one. Just let it happen. This is a community effort. All right.
Starting point is 00:26:20 We're going to celebrate those people. Not be jealous of them. We're going to celebrate each other because here's the thing. If you come in, if we have 40 Bobby T separate, it's going to be obvious. Yeah. All right. I'm asking the moderators to be out there doing a job, doing their job. Because we don't control the Reddit. We don't control the Discord. They're not official, right?
Starting point is 00:26:42 We have no control over this prank. No. Get in those comments, though, on the Instagram yes yes we want a lot of groundswell for Bobby T I really think this could be the greatest prank ever done on the Auntie Donna podcast. What's the plan though? What's the plan? What do you mean? I know this bit. Yeah. And then we get Bobby T on. I don't know. I haven't thought that far ahead. I don't fucking know man. I don't know. I had a thought. I started running with it. Alright, here's another layer. Fucking you do your part. You help. Alright, I'll come at it.
Starting point is 00:27:24 I got a question. When we got to the end of the episode Here's another layer. You fucking, you do your part. You help. All right, I'll come at it. I've got a question. When we got to the end of the episode, was Sam a bit unsure about Bobby T and we loved Bobby T and then part of the comments are coming from a place of I don't know what Sam was talking about, Bobby T is great or is that the wrong angle? No, no, that's wrong.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Don't scratch what I just said. Yeah. You just really liked Bobby T. Yeah. It was a great episode and you loved Bobby T. Yeah. And you got Bobby T. And I think us in the office and stuff, we're like, yeah fuck, it was, I think we need to approach it with this,
Starting point is 00:28:01 yeah fuck, it was fucking good. It was fucking funny man. And it was Sam, don't think that this prank is... Yes, I reckon we just dial back like 10%. Okay please. You know what I mean? Like if it's two, four... Okay so for us we were just like... Yeah it was fun. Yeah it was great.
Starting point is 00:28:16 It was really great. I think it'd be fun, and when we go to him, I think it'd be fun to do one where you meet the character, so don't listen to that one. Yeah yeah yeah. So we very casually say, I think it'd be really fun for you to meet the character and not know the details. That's great and yeah let's not, none of us, we're not commenting on the discourse that's happening through Reddit and the Discord. Let Broden come to us with that and we go oh really? We haven't checked. I haven't seen.
Starting point is 00:28:45 And then in that moment... That's how subtle it has to be. That's how subtle it has to be. But it has to be good. You love Bobby T. Our audience, our fans, we are asking a great deal from you, but I do believe in people that listen to this podcast. Because you don't want to go too subtle here. No.
Starting point is 00:29:02 You believe in them. I believe that they can do this. I believe that they can pull this off. I believe that they can come together as one sort of organism. Because it's really what we're asking here, is to come together and be clear minded. And it's a hard thing to do to ask an odd, you know, however many people listen to this. Oh, we're touching hands again. Sam's really big on the touching the hands.
Starting point is 00:29:28 We're asking people to come together as one being, as one thought, as one mind and to pull this off and I believe you can. What I need you each to do as an individual, what I need you to do is not stress about being the best or the funniest. What you need to do is when you come to this, whatever platform you use, maybe a couple of platforms. Are you writing this down? You need to come to the platform. You need to look at all the comments that have happened so far.
Starting point is 00:29:56 You need to look at the tapestry. And you need to think, what little colour can I add that will enhance this tapestry? You do not want to get the most upvotes. What you want to do is you want that will enhance this tapestry? You do not want to get the most upvotes. What you want to do is you want to add to the tapestry. If you go, oh, it's a little too much, I'll do a subtle plug for Bobby T. Oh, maybe it's a little too soft.
Starting point is 00:30:17 I'll up Bobby T a little bit. We want to see the big picture here, and that's what you're doing. You're just adding a bit of colour. And maybe you've come a little bit too late and maybe what you have to reconcile with with yourself is maybe the best thing for me to do here is actually nothing. Go find another platform. Just to find another platform. Comment somewhere else. Maybe just upvote where you need to
Starting point is 00:30:41 upvote. Maybe send a letter to the editor. Maybe what edit? What? Just something,. Maybe send a letter to the editor. Maybe, what edit, what? Just something, you can send a letter to the editor. About a different thing? No, I think about this. About this? Yeah, what editor?
Starting point is 00:30:55 Like a paper, like the local rag, you know? All right, that's strange, but sure. It doesn't, so I was just trying to like give him something else to do. I just didn't want to, I don't know. Right, okay. I thought it was a non-specific thing, like just go to something else. No, no, no, a letter to the editor would be funny. Alright, write some letters to the editor.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Two of you, no more than two, can do a post on your own feed about how much you love Bobby T. Where you tag Auntie Donna. Make sure you tag Auntie Donna, but before you do this, you have to go to the Auntie Donna Instagram, look at tagged images, and no more than two can do, we can have one fan art and just one post. Now the post, the post I want it, I want the post to be of you having a cup of tea in the morning and being like one person listening to Auntie Donna drinking my tea. Reminding me of Bobby tea, something around those, something about that. Just like...
Starting point is 00:32:05 Or like a Bobby T reference. Doesn't even have to be from the podcast. No. Just like, I look like a regular Bobby T. I'll have a cup of tea. One of you. One of you. If someone's done it, you've missed it. I will allow two fan arts actually. I've changed my mind. There can be two fan arts.
Starting point is 00:32:25 A fan art of how you imagine Bobby T looks. Do not fuck us on this. Do not fuck us on this, okay? You go too hard, it's obvious. You will ruin our fun and we don't get a lot of joy in our lives anymore. This is a job for us. We fucking rock up, we clock in, we do our thing, and then we clock out.
Starting point is 00:32:50 This is the most excited I've been about anything for at least four to five years. Please, please just do what we are asking and don't fucking ruin this, okay? Please! 50% of you, 50% of you have seen the Swedish miniseries this character is based on. You're so familiar with the show,
Starting point is 00:33:12 you don't have to mention that you've seen it. This is just the idea of I knew who he was doing as soon as he started. Because you've seen the Swedish television show, but the show in your world is so successful and has such a big cut through that you don't have to mention the name of the show. Really understand this. You don't have to go, oh, I've seen it, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah. You just go, oh, I knew it was that. I knew what he was doing from the
Starting point is 00:33:41 moment I heard. The other 50% have not seen the show, but you've heard of it, you understood the character he was going for. Yeah. If someone came and did Zendaya in June, I haven't seen it yet, because it only came out like last week. If someone was doing Zendaya, I would still understand the character. Do you know what I'm saying? Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Even, you know, so... You understand what June is and you understand. Yeah, and you understand, what's the name of this show? The Playlist. The Playlist. What platform's it on? I saw it on Netflix, but. Yeah, you've seen The Playlist.
Starting point is 00:34:16 It probably is a bigish deal. You've seen The Playlist, you love The Playlist. 50% of you have seen it, 50% of you haven't, but none of you need to mention The Playlist. Do you need to mention the playlist do not mention the playlist do not do not mention the show playlist anything else for them just fucking have a good day yeah and have fun with it yeah have fun have fun not too much though not too much because remember like it is fun inherently what we're doing is fun so you don't need to have too much fun with it it should already be quite fun. We're all playing this is all it's already quite fun. This is the biggest prank that I think Has ever happened on this podcast and it's
Starting point is 00:34:57 Very it's very exciting to me. It's very exciting me. So my big you know if there's like a, if there's a way that like a mod on Discord can make like a secret channel that only some people can access, definitely not Broden, where you want to write down the rules and have them clear, that would be great. You don't need to do that. But you really got to do this on your own. Don't expect someone to tell you what to do here. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Exactly. You're painting a picture. No, because cuz I think any planet we're getting messy scratch that scratch what I said I don't want to see any secret channel bullshit I agree I agree and I'm so sorry for having brought that up that's all ruined my fun don't you fuck this why I don't want to fuck this for me and I don't want anyone else to fuck this for us. Especially Broden. Cause Broden's gonna have a good time. What's gonna happen here? Imagine, imagine his reaction. So we're... So what's gonna happen? We never had this conversation. To the listener,
Starting point is 00:35:56 we never had this conversation. None of you. And to make any illusion to the tone of this podcast. I swear to fucking God. I swear to... Even to me or Zack or Sam, if you see us on the street. You just count out Bobby T. Yes. If I hear Bobby T. If you see us, including Broden, walking down the street, most of the time, I don't like people yelling out from cars. It makes me uncomfortable. But if you see us, including Broden, any of us and Broden,
Starting point is 00:36:27 it can't just be Broden, it has to be any of us and Broden, and you're driving past and you see us, you have permission to whine down the window and yell out, Bobby T! Yes. Yes. Alright, but nothing else. And not just to Broden. Don't fucking wink at me. If you see Broden. Don't fucking like bring up like we're in on some fucking joke. I don't want to fucking see that.
Starting point is 00:36:50 We are in on a little joke together. That's what we're playing here. We are. This is fun. But if you fucking bring that into my... If you make it obvious that you know what I know, I swear to God. If I see a single comment along the lines of, oh, this was a little bit different,
Starting point is 00:37:07 or, oh, I did or I didn't like that they were playing a prank or, you know, anything like that, or I wish I got to see more of Bobby T. If the implication is because we didn't let Sam do Bobby T. for very long, really. The podcast that you just listened to for any published material, to be clear, is this. We, after having done the wizard thing, did a bit of a preamble for about four minutes. It's basically the same preamble you heard. That didn't change.
Starting point is 00:37:40 That's the same. Now, when we said, should we bring on Bobby T, Bobby T came in. That was the same. Now when we said, should we bring on Bobby T, Bobby T came in. That was the same. Sam did the same character. Yes. Sam did the same joke. The Aaron Egg bit happened. All of that happened.
Starting point is 00:37:56 But from the time out onwards, that did not occur. Nothing like that occurred. Not even a subtle, oh, no. No. Nothing, you cannot imply that. Don't you dare. All that happened after the timeout was Sam continued to do Bobby T.
Starting point is 00:38:15 We got to know Bobby T. more. We understood the joke. We were like, oh, this is the fictional character from the playlist, but Sam's changed the voice. We got it immediately. And we riffed with the character. You, the listener, got it immediately and you loved Sam's take on the character. That is what happened for 40 minutes.
Starting point is 00:38:39 And if I see anything implying anything else, I swear to fucking fucking God I will break up this group and you will not get any more Aunty Donna content for the rest of your fucking life. Don't ruin this. Don't ruin this. This is on your shoulders the listener. This is on your fucking shoulders. We need Broden sitting down at this fucking podcast table with an unequivocal belief that he saw the popularity of Bobby T, that he asked for Bobby T to come on the podcast, and that he is excited to hear one of the best characters that have ever been created. Because we're going to be putting in the effort to Gaslight Broden ourselves in the sense that I am going to try to make him suggest that
Starting point is 00:39:26 Sam come back on and do Bobby T for him. We're going to ensure that Sam is free on the day and we want everything to be Broden thinking this is a really clear character and then he does Bobby T. I'll go off and watch a little bit of this playlist show. Yeah. So, Omar. Yep. A little bit. I'll go off and watch a little bit of this playlist show. Yeah. So, Omar, a little bit. I'll do my fucking homework. And we're going to know Bobby T. And you're going to know Bobby T. And we're all going
Starting point is 00:39:54 to have a bit of a laugh because Broden will not get it and be nice about it. And this is your call to action. Go now. Go. Go now. Do that now. We are implementing the plan. Big Broden Prank. Will I don't want to see Big Broden Prank. But I don't want to fucking see the name of
Starting point is 00:40:12 the operation anywhere. Let's actually change. No, no, I don't want to hear about any operation. I don't want to hear about any prank. We all know that it's called operation Big Broden Prank, but we're not saying that, we're deleting that from our memory. Go now. Here's what happened. Here's what happened to you, the listener. Okay? We need to step away from any concept of a prank or a game. Here's what happened. You just finished the podcast. We just said, thank you so much, Bobby T. Bobby T said, I'm real. We said, yes, you are.
Starting point is 00:40:48 And then we ended it because that got a big laugh. And I said, yes, you are. That got a big laugh. We ended it. You have been laughing the whole time. You were like, that is the best episode I've ever heard. Right? That's what happened to you.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Maybe one of you didn't like it and some of you just liked it. But a lot of you, wow, that was a real killer of an episode. Some of you jumped straight onto social media only if you were the type that would have done that anyway. If you are not the type that would have gone straight to any of the social medias, don't do it. Let the people that do it, do it. And if you've missed the window, if you're usually someone that's done it, someone else has stolen the time, that's okay. We're building a tapestry here. Most of you just listened to the best podcast you've ever heard and a great character that you understood.
Starting point is 00:41:49 And you've gone, oh, that was great. You then go to your social media of choice. You then see our post about Bobby T or maybe one from the day before or maybe one from the day after, maybe it's not about Bobby T, maybe it's not about the podcast. You might search for it, but I want you to imagine it's just popped up in your feed. And you feel compelled to say something. You feel compelled to say, oh, Bobby T was great. That's up to you. Maybe you open it up, you see there's a lot of comments
Starting point is 00:42:29 about Bobby T, so instead of saying something, you instead reply to someone else. Maybe you tag someone, a friend, and you say, Bobby T. Or tag a friend and say, this is the episode I want you to listen to. Or tag someone and say, this is the episode I want you to listen to. Or tag someone and say, this is the podcast with Bobby T. Things like that. Keep it subtle.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Keep it different. Keep it interesting. Incredible episode, boys. Really funny. Good stuff. Some of you don't have to mention Bobby T. Stuff like, but if you were like, was listening to the Bobby T podcast on the train and the way everyone else was looking at me while I was just pissing myself laughing.
Starting point is 00:43:10 But we can only have like three or four of them per thing. Yes. Yeah. There's no operation, there's no plan. You just listen to the best podcast of your life and you want to tell people about it. That's all. That's all it is. I'm excited for when this is happening and I can look at my feet and I just hope my heart doesn't get broken. Don't fuck this for us.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Because I really, now I've really got a lot riding on this to the point where I'm past the anger and the being like, you better not. Now I'm just like, please, please, please let this work. Now I'm anticipating there's going to be two or three of you. There's like thousands of people listening to this podcast right now. We don't usually talk now. But no, as you, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a hard, yeah. No, no, no, but yeah, it's interesting, isn't it? But they're like to the person listening listening every person listening right now is all listening
Starting point is 00:44:08 Right now if that makes sense It's hard to explain but what I'm saying is to you the listener because right now Lindsay's listening Yeah, right right now to us. But to the listener there are other people over a series of days and weeks Experiencing the same thing as now is the listener a moniker for Lindsay? No, no, listener. Yeah, on the mic. No, I'm not talking about the brand listener. I'm talking about the listener.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Listener. Now, of the many thousands of listeners, there are going to be a few that are seeing this sort of, oh, don't fuck this, as some sort of call to action. Oh, I get to be the one to fuck it, and that's going to be the joke. It isn't. It's not. It's not smart. It's not clever. It'll genuinely upset me. If you ruin it for us, like good for you. Well done. Oh yeah. Yeah. Great job. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:44:55 You fucked it. Cool. I'm just, all that's going to do is just make me have a shit Wednesday. And please, so please don't do that. Yeah, just don't fucking do it. Just please don't. Like it's not, there's no. This is fine, this will be fine. This will be a fun little bit.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Sam, thanks so much for coming on the podcast. Thanks for coming out, I'm glad you loved the character so much and you just can't wait for Broden to get to see it. Yeah, oh yeah, that's good. For those watching on the Auntie Donna Club on the visual, I'm winking to Sam right now. It's been an incredible day, it's been an incredible afternoon, we've met an incredible new character. I love that character. And we have a beautiful little plan and I can't wait to see it happen. I love you. Okay. The show on Netflix and I really like everyone else here in this room. Have a wonderful
Starting point is 00:45:43 rest of your day and we will be seeing you online. You've been listening to the Aunty Donna podcast. Thanks for joining us for another RIP episode brought to you by AuntyDonnaClub.com. See you next week.
