Hi everyone, we'll be back with a new episode around mid-March, but for now I want to tell you
about the launch of a brand new Canadian podcast from our friend Danielle Parody,
a reporter with APTN News. It's called The Place That Thors. You might remember Danny from some of
our previous episodes. It was she who discovered that archive of historic letters and documents that
became the Murderous
Mounties series and I also had the pleasure of working with her on other episodes including
the Saskatoon freezing deaths.
In The Place That Thaws, Danny and a colleague travelled to the Arctic, Canada's most
northern communities to speak with locals about how the changing weather has affected
their way of life, their communities
and the landscape.
You'll hear why a simple plan to go ice fishing is no longer guaranteed.
And in this week's episode, Danny speaks with a 22-year-old Inuk dog sledder about how it
all works now with much less snow.
That is the sound of a hungry sled dog.
It's fascinating, visceral and charming, not to mention concerning.
And there's two episodes waiting for you to listen to now with more to come.
We'll play a short trailer in just a second, but please subscribe to the place that thaws
on your favourite podcast player.
And you can also find some frankly amazing photos of their trip at aptnews.ca.
Here's that trailer and I'll see you soon.
We are going to take safe are no longer safe. Our yui took the place that never thaws, except that now it is thawing.
Hosted by me, Danielle Parody, join us as we uncover the intricacies of life on a changing
coast.
Experience the arctic like never before.
Subscribe and listen to the place that Thaws.
Brought to you by APTN.
