Hi, welcome back to Circling Back.
My name's Dave, and I'm steering the ship today.
Looking at me right now, it's Dylan, a.k.a. Dorn.
Hi, Dylan.
The quickest intro I've ever had, I think.
Yeah, Will's not here, obviously.
He's gone somewhere.
We don't really know where.
Dave, you're driving the ship.
I'm just going to co-captain it with you.
I've been doing Vyvanse all night long, haven't slept.
Wow. I'm really aggressive right now-captain it with you. I've been doing Vyvanse all night long. Haven't slept. Wow.
I'm really aggressive right now.
Yeah, you are.
Yeah.
I don't know where Will is.
I know he's in New York City,
but I don't know completely what he's doing up there.
Something with Microsoft.
They have some event, and I don't know why...
How did we get left out?
I don't know why they thought of Will DeFries
as someone they'd like to attend,
but he's there.
They flew him out and everything.
Must be nice. That's all I know.'d like to attend, but he's there. They flew him out and everything. Must be nice.
That's all I know.
I don't really know what he's doing.
So he's still with the company.
Like, he didn't resign.
Maybe he's doing a panel.
If he gets on a panel
before either of us,
I'm fucking done.
Yeah.
I'm out of media.
We can just whip his ass
when he gets back, too.
Like, just whip his ass?
Yeah.
Like, just beat the piss out of him?
Just beat the shit out of him.
It'll be good for him.
Speaking of panels, we're going to have to introduce our guest here. Yes. It's the piss out of him. Just beat the shit out of him. It'll be good for him. Speaking of panels,
we're going to have to
introduce our guest here.
Yes.
It's Liv Langdon, folks.
Hey.
You've done some panel work.
They highly requested
Liv Langdon.
Oh my gosh,
that warms my heart every time.
That's not even a joke.
People are like,
hey, when's Liv getting back
on the mic?
All the time.
Oh my God,
I love you guys.
We love you.
Seriously.
I was mostly talking
to the people, but no, I'm just kidding. I love you guys. I'm just kidding. I love you guys. We love you. Seriously. I was mostly talking to the people, but no, I'm just kidding.
I love you guys.
Well, I'm part of the people.
Calm down, buddy.
I'm just kidding.
I love you guys.
Calm down.
Of course I do.
I love being here.
Was I accurate?
You've done panels, right?
Yep.
Well, I was on my first panel for South by Southwest.
That felt so good.
You deserve that.
And look, all credit to you, but the fact that no one hit us up for South by Panels,
I'm still salty about it.
Oh, man. We have a lot to offer, but the fact that no one hit us up for South by Panels, I'm still salty about it. Oh, man.
We have a lot to offer, Liv.
Of course you guys do.
You should, why don't you set up a live podcast at some place in Rainy?
We've done that.
We've done that on Rainy.
Oh, and I'm the hires.
Wait, did you not go?
No.
Yeah, you were there.
Huh.
Oh, you didn't go.
Oh, remember you guys asked me to co-host it with you?
And you turned us down.
Big time.
Big time to us.
You had a panel to get to.
It was only because I think I was out of town or something that was for our 100th episode yes
yeah i was so bummed about that yeah weren't there whoops sorry it's okay i'm sorry let's
do it again how many episodes of this have we done uh 30 ish? 30-ish, yeah. 30, 35, 40?
We should do a 50.
We'll do a 50.
No one really knows.
Yeah, and there's no way
of looking back and finding out.
We do three a week.
We've been doing it for, what,
almost four months now,
so do the math.
Okay.
I'm still not over the fact
that he's doing something
with Microsoft, Will.
Yeah.
Like, someone from Microsoft
was like, hey,
we should get Will DeFreeze here,
and that just blows my mind.
I think it's for Sunday Scaries,
so, you know, Will's got the Sunday Scaries brand.
He's got that whole thing.
So I think maybe it's like so they can learn more about their millennial employees
and like why they're all like so miserable on Monday morning.
Yeah, let's get that sock looking millennial here.
Like that was the thought they had at one.
You never heard this no uh so
will looks like a sock like a wool sock yeah no it's in fact that's in style everybody knows
well just his overall uh just demeanor and the way he carries himself and he's just he's very
sock like yeah or thumb he's also been called a thumb the thumb thing's not fair he's not a thumb
i've seen thumb people and he is not a thumb thumb people is joe rogan does he look like a thumb. He's also been called a thumb. The thumb thing's not fair. He's not a thumb. I've seen thumb people and he is not
a thumb. Thumb people. Is Joe Rogan,
does he look like a thumb?
Yeah, he's more of like a stubby thumb. He's more
thummy than Will. He's a, what is it called
when you have a big, big toe?
There's a term
for that? Like a big, big toe? A big, big toe.
I just thought it was called a big, wide toe.
Big toe. Oh no, it's called a toe
thumb. That's what they have. Oh, toe thumb.
He looks like a toe thumb, Joe Rogan.
So I meant to ask you this right out of the gates.
On a scale of one to Rogan, how optimized are you right now?
Because you're sipping on something there.
Oh, it's cold brew.
Just cold brew?
Yeah, cold brew, almond milk.
Yeah.
A little bit.
Yeah, it's my thing.
I love it.
I do consume a lot of caffeine.
I'm not going to lie.
And you were talking about, do you really take Vyvanse overnight?
No.
Oh, I was going to say.
I'm like, what?
You must be exhausted.
No, no, I don't.
I haven't done that stuff since law school.
Wait, what else is in there?
Cold brew, almond milk, what else?
So there's a almond milk, coconut cream creamer that I buy.
And then stevia drops that have a natural vanilla flavor.
There's sweet leaf stevia drops on ice with chameleon cold brew.
It's my favorite.
It's a bomb.
I look forward to it.
You guys can try it if you want.
I got my own cold brew working over here.
It's just basic cold brew.
I'm a little worried because I think Liv is way more optimized than we are.
No.
Yeah.
Well, she always is.
This is just McCafe that I made at home in my cuisine. worried because I think Liv is way more optimized than we are. No, yeah. Well, she always is. This
is just McCafe that I made at home in my cuisine. Imagine Liv showing up not optimized, Dave. Like
you can't do it. I would have told her to go home. Yeah. You know what you guys should start taking?
I mean, and I'm, I struggle in the morning, so I really have to get up early enough to like take
my supplements, drink my coffee. This is my second coffee to be honest i just gotta you know i've got to push through uh there's we
got some new listeners so why don't we let's knock out this fulton rourke and then let's let's talk
about live and how we met her and how she's kind of in our atmosphere our world okay let's talk
fulton and let's talk fulton and rourke because you can use promo code STEAM, S-T-E-A-M, for 15% off.
What's Fulton & Rourke?
What isn't Fulton & Rourke?
That's a better question because they do everything for men's grooming.
Yeah.
It's a men's grooming company.
Also, cologne.
They have the wax-based cologne, of course.
I'm wearing it right now.
Palmetto.
I use the face wash every day.
Love it.
My face has never looked better.
Your skin looks great.
Thank you so much, Dave.
I really appreciate that. Agreed. The two-in-oneone body wash we can't get enough of that stuff too it's fantastic
what else we what else we using a face moisturizer face oh yeah look I'm getting a little bit older
you know got crow's feet creeping in I got I got a moisturize I got to keep I got to keep my youthful
glow and that's how I'm doing it these days, Dave. Yeah. No, it's excellent.
You've heard us talk about it before.
I shower at the gym.
I bring my Fulton Rourke with me because I'm not putting that stuff on me.
Oh, you think I don't, Dave?
No, I'm not saying that at all.
I'm just explaining what I do.
Well, I do it too.
Okay, we both do.
We shower together.
Everybody knows.
Yes.
Save water.
We're going green.
It's part of our green initiative.
Yeah.
That got out of control
it did
so promo code steam
15% off your order
check it out
their stuff's fantastic
it really is
it's awesome
it's all we use
we crush that
we crush reads
hey you know what
oh
we're gonna table steam
let's talk to Liv
a little bit more
I know you want to steam
we have a steam room
coming up
that I
we told Liv about it
a little bit before
and what exactly the steam room segment is but we have a lot of fun with it.
But first, let's talk more about Liv.
Dave, what questions do you have for her?
Liv, give us your background.
How did you meet us?
Oh, how did we meet?
You used to work for Onnit.
Yeah, but how did we meet?
I don't know.
Oh, I know.
We had a meeting one time, an Onnit Grand X collab. Oh, yeah. And you sat in. Oh, I know. We had a meeting one time, an Onyx Grandex collab.
Oh, yeah.
And you sat in.
Yeah, I did.
Yeah.
I made a weird inappropriate comment slipped out of my mouth during that meeting.
It was really weird.
And then we became a joke for like a while.
Yeah.
Yeah, I remember that.
But yeah.
Oh, I don't remember this at all.
Yeah.
Was it a wide load joke like no no no
it was i don't remember but i said something that it sounded sexual but i used the wrong word for
something and it made it sound sexual when it wasn't supposed to and it just got weird in there
yeah but i didn't but i don't remember what we were that meeting was even about but that's how
we met her so we had a meeting okay and they And then we started podcasting a year later, maybe.
And we thought of Liv as a guest host.
Because our entire thing here is we just try to optimize.
We understand.
Mid-30s, it's not looking good for us.
So anytime we can bring somebody with a little bit more youth and just is in your community,
the health, fitness world, nutrition.
We need you in here to like tell us some shit that we can go do.
Well, she's the total package.
She's got the personality.
She's, she's very well read.
She knows what she's talking about.
Very, very informed on nutrition and health and all that.
And it was just a, it was a natural fit.
We just took her to the gas station.
Total package over here.
Gas station just happened right here.
So yeah. to the gas station total package over here gas station just happened right here so yeah so live
uh i build you is like when we introduced you or tease that you were going to be on i said
she's huge in the health fitness and nutrition world and i don't even know if that's fair
how would you describe what you do and what do you do oh wow what do I do so uh let's see I would consider myself overall big into optimizing your wellness
but also maximizing your quality of life while we're here you know so having the most fun by
feeling the best you know and so it's not just about being healthy and eating well and you know
going on runs every day, which are important,
but it's also like how can you feel your best that you can give more to other people around you?
That's my whole shtick.
My brand that I'm working on is Live Out Loud.
That Live Out Loud is essentially that where you're like, okay, take care of yourself first.
That's my whole thing.
Personal responsibility for who you are.
Take care of yourself, but then allow that to feed into other aspects of yourself first. That's my whole thing. Personal responsibility for who you are. Take care of yourself.
But then allow that to feed into other aspects of your life.
The energy that you give to your friends and your family, your boyfriend.
You know, what you put into your body is going to be exactly what you put out.
And so to me, it's about nutrition, food, taking care of yourself. Your mental health is really important to me it's about nutrition food taking care of yourself your mental health is really important
to me so meditation going on my meditative runs like um this whole collective thing that we call
life you know trying to make it the best we can that's beautiful man i couldn't have said it
better myself i mean literally i could have never put
that together hearing that spiel makes me feel like i should be a better person than i am you
are a true piece of shit yeah i know i mean look i'm right there with you yeah you're you're total
garbage as well thank you um let me ask you this part of this overall like uh wellness stuff
does that involve maybe oh i don't don't know, a steam room?
Oh, I love steam rooms.
Did you bring some flip flops?
I did, happened to.
Dave always carries extra towels on him,
so you can slip in a towel if you want.
She's going to go over to the ladies' locker room.
We're going to go over here. We're going to meet you
in the co-ed steam room.
Because somebody's
steaming.
That's a towel pop.
That's the sound of me whipping Dave.
It's the sound of me.
For some reason, since you're a guest and since you're a lady, I'm not going to whip you with my towel.
Dave's going to get it.
Dave's going to get it.
For some reason, if you look at my lower body, it's just whelp after whelp.
I was actually going to ask you about that.
Yeah.
I'm sorry.
Are you okay, Dave?
I'm not.
I'm pretty good with this thing.
Wow.
You guys have some practice. It's a weird business partnership we've got going on. So we are, Dave? I'm not. I'm pretty good with this thing. Wow. You guys have some practice.
It's a weird business partnership we've got going on.
So we are in the steam room right now.
We are absolutely there.
I'm in my towel.
I've got my flip flops on.
You are?
Yeah.
I'm looking at you.
Dave, you put this topic on here, but it's about the Notre Dame Cathedral and how, of
course, we lived in it.
She's been so busy.
She didn't even know that it burned up yesterday.
Oh, you're going to do her like that.
Oh, wow.
She's been busy.
Yeah.
Sorry, guys.
I haven't watched the news.
Off the social media?
I don't even go on social media, which is bad, but I'm not up.
So Notre Dame Cathedral, the very historic Notre Dame in Paris,
which has been standing for almost 900 years.
That's in France, correct?
Paris is in France, yeah, for those who don't know that.
France is tight.
Yeah, France is a nice little country.
That's in Europe, by the way.
It caught fire, was it yesterday or two days ago?
It was yesterday.
Nobody knows.
No one really knows.
And it burned up.
I think some of it has been salvaged.
That's what Dave told me this morning anyway.
So that's my source. That's your source, told me this morning anyway but um so that's my source
it's your source huh this is a guy named dave and a dad cap um but yeah it burned up and so
when events like this happen of course social media gets a hold of it and it goes crazy
there are people who and this is what i think we're steaming on, is people who kind of make it about themselves.
Like, oh, my gosh, I visited Paris last summer.
Here's me in front of Notre Dame.
Looking tight, by the way.
Yeah.
Chunk induced, wearing a halter top.
Or people, when a national tragedy happens, and they just try to, instead of being, you know, in support of the victims and
their families are like, Oh yeah, man, once I was there, uh, I was, I was at the twin towers like
a year before, you know, the planes took it down. You know, a true story. Um, my wife and I,
we planned our honeymoon. We thought about going to Paris and, um, but we didn't end up going,
but you have to assume if we would have ended up going, we would have gone to Notre Dame.
Right, right, right.
And it's just crazy.
You know what I mean?
That's in my Twitter drafts right now.
Like I know that you were at the Twin Towers a year before, you know,
the tragedy happened of 9-11.
Yeah, indeed.
But guess what?
Thousands of people, like, actually died.
That's true.
And their families were actually affected by it.
Okay, is this one – we're putting a lot of people like actually died that's true and their families were actually affected by it is this one we're putting a lot of people on blast and i know a lot of them a lot of people
they don't okay they're not trying to yeah to be fair just genuinely don't know how to react
and to be fair most of these people are very well-meaning it's it's not they just don't sure
we like to poke fun at shit like this but is this one different because to my knowledge no one died
right i don't believe so it's just it's just history died yeah whereas like if you do it on
9-11 it's like okay it's like come on man kind of a big deal a lot of people died yeah uh terrorism
i feel like people want to be part of something you know and i think ultimately people just want
to connect in some sort of way so the people
post something this is kind of just playing devil's advocate but i think people are like i was there
and then someone else was like i was there too and i visited there and i know what that's like and
it's kind of like crossfit or being a vegan like when you find people who've done the same thing i
mean you kind of connect with them and you feel part
of something. And I know it does seem a little bit like that's not really about you, but I also
think it's people trying to connect in another way. This is the segment where Liv just makes
us feel like shit. I'm sorry. For making fun of these people. I'm going to make this segment
about me real quick, honestly. So last week i don't know live you may have missed this uh
so you know dirk nowitzki is dirk nowitzki um number 41 dallas mavericks yeah um also known
as goat he retired and there is people in dallas sports and they're saying don't make it about you
the night like of his last home game and i'm thinking like well you know i took a photo when
i went to san antonio for his last game game and you know it's just me just kind of looking sad got a gram off had to let people know i was there
did i make that about me kind of but you know i just wanted to pay homage to the goat
and i think everybody kind of does this in some way but for some reason now i feel like twitter
twitter is more self-aware and so people are getting put on blast for this uh more so than
they were five years ago because i feel like there's not a lot of people that were calling
people out for doing this kind of stuff where they were just like stealing the spotlight of
this tragedy or something not that dirk retiring was a tragedy or something but it's just it's
just taking something that's not about you in any way and, and interjecting or injecting yourself into it.
Plus to be fair,
also social media is inherently like about you.
I mean,
that's true.
Instagram,
you're just basically,
it's just a self promotion platform.
It's just post pictures of yourself.
So what if you post a gram story of the cathedral that you took,
but you're not in it and you're just saying,
wow,
this sucks.
Beautiful place.
That's,
that's obviously on another level than like you doing a selfie in front of it like wearing like
a yankee cap or something i i think even you being in the picture is okay the only thing that bothers
me is when people are like um and you know the this this situation isn't as bad as you know like
actual tragedies right right for example because when
people are like oh yeah i was you know i was there a month ago that could have been me like you know
but it's not about you you weren't there you're perfectly fine you're at home safe people are
dying and you're like oh that could have been me yeah well it was these people so shut up like
you know have respect support support them and their families.
But you weren't there, dude.
There's no doubt about it.
If something like this happened in Florence, where, I mean, we joke a lot about Firenze.
Dylan and I have both been there.
You ever been to Florence?
No, I haven't.
Dave, I didn't go to Florence, by the way.
You didn't go to Florence?
Me too.
Okay.
We're not as well-traveled as you didn't hit capri so it's like
what are you doing i hit florence and capri pants though oh shit okay i started on heavy
that counts okay like if this happened a place that i went okay we both went to rome
yeah so we did rome and like something happened like the coliseum or something
there there's a time in my life like like five years ago, I probably would have done this
and not thought twice about it.
And I don't think it's harmful,
but just be careful when you're doing it.
Be careful with the caption.
I think the key is in the words, right?
Yeah, it's not what you say, it's how you say it.
Yeah.
That is the key.
And be careful when people's lives are actually affected
and yours was not.
Yeah.
So this, I i mean to our knowledge
granted none of us read the newspaper apparently we don't know if anybody i don't think anybody
died i think it was just like years and years of history i feel like live's comments kind of
made me backpedal a little bit yeah i'm down on it back big time yeah no i but i totally agree
and i can picture who you know the type of person you would be talking about and what they would be writing.
But I think ultimately to that same person, you know, everybody just wants love and attention and to be accepted.
And I think everything that people put out in this world, even if it's not necessarily worded the best, I think it's because they just want to feel connected to other people.
It's pretty rich for us to criticize because like we legitimately just talk into a mic yeah we're dickheads i mean yes
i mean i don't we all place judgments and i feel the exact same way so you know i'm just trying to
be more zen in my life guys i feel like it's just certain people that we might both follow that we
see them post something we're like oh wow yeah i'm sorry this really affected you they went you should take the day off
because you you went you know you studied abroad there back in like
2009 are you okay are you okay it stays like today i want to reach out just check in it's been a while
uh live since we're still in our towels and we're steaming uh
can i can i expose myself real quick oh that sounded so poor i'm sorry live apologies uh
i'm glad that we were going through the uh we were going through the run sheet and i legit called it
uh notre dame like a dumbass and dylan corrected me and i was like is that how you say it notre
dame because i'm gonna have you say it? Notre Dame?
Because I'm going to have to say it.
I believe I'm saying that right.
Yeah, Notre Dame.
Have you ever seen the Hunchback of Notre Dame
when you were younger, the cartoon?
Yeah, but I was like...
The shells of Notre Dame.
Oh, shit.
Oh, wow.
Keep going.
Who knew she had pipes?
I don't know.
I don't know why I did that.
Normally we don't sing in the steam room.
Wow, okay.
The steam room is good for the vocals, though.
It really opens it up.
It's true.
Clear the fl It's true.
Clear the phlegm.
Yeah.
Okay, what were you going to ask?
I was going to ask if she has anything else that she's maybe steaming on.
Is there anything you want to vent about anything in life?
Is anyone wronging you these days?
Roast somebody.
It could be about traffic or just anything. Well, now, considering my zen state that I just stated, you know...
You can pass on this, too. I try to not let things just stated uh you know you can pass on this I tried a lot not let things
bother me you know I really that's been a big challenge of my adult life is you know I mean
I'm gonna sound like this freaking monk over here but I really do think it's not what people do to
you it's how you react to it so I'm just been so zen like i've just been even keel
lately like nothing really bothers me but actually sometimes i do have a little bit of road rage
because people in austin drive differently than florida and i still haven't gotten everyone says
that the austin drivers are just the worst they just everybody's slow you know and i'm all about
taking your time enjoying life enjoying the moment but then when
you're traveling on a road and you're going somewhere i feel like just do it with intention
like faster sure a little bit faster okay people drive so i've never seen a highway where people
slow down to let you cut in front of them and it's not like that in miami it's a little it should be like that well
it's not that miami's better but no it shouldn't be like that here like that bothers me that was
a very ground you know that was an eloquent way of saying like speed the fuck up i mean like
because yeah austin is if you get a little bit of rain, man, everybody's just like... Oh, people don't even know how to drive.
Eyes wide.
People start wiling out.
What do...
Like, people freak out.
It's the craziest thing.
I'm like, get over it.
It's rain.
Dave, maybe we should adopt Liv's, like, don't let things bother you...
But then this podcast would stink.
I know.
We'd have to ditch, like, half our segments.
Honestly, like, everything bothers us.
Yeah, no, it really does.
We just suck.
You should...
The guys whose seat I'm sitting around in will to freeze.
He's bothered by everything.
If you offer him cold brew after 5 o'clock, you're fucking dead.
Yeah, one time, Liv, a few weeks ago, we were steaming.
Oh, don't do this.
Don't do this.
He was steaming on his vet that he takes his dog to because they offer him cold brew and beer.
And he's like, this shouldn't be the place that they like
i want to go there and just get my dog taken care of i don't want i don't need beer like dude they're
just providing you a service for free like they make you more comfortable like what what's wrong
with you he got pretty torched for that one i think he was i feel like he kind of he might have
been steaming on something else he was probably upset with just the whole having to go in the first place and
just kind of took it out on the cold brew thing.
Cause it is,
you know,
it's a gimmick,
but live,
do you have any animals?
Do you have any pets?
No,
but I did think of something else that bothers me.
Oh,
wow.
I think we've touched on this.
We just ruined your mindset.
You were like in Nirvana before you came in here.
Now,
I mean,
now that we're starting to talk about it,
I'm like,
Oh yeah, of course things bother me.
What are you, I'm not a saint.
But when people bird on the trail and I'm running, you know?
You know when you're running.
Oh, trails should be a bird please.
Yeah, I know.
I know you guys love the bird, but.
Never on the trail though.
If I'm running, you know, I'm sweating.
I'm trying to be fit and feel good and have good cardiovascular health and
then some dude and i don't care if you're overweight or underweight doesn't matter but
just zoom past me you know smoke in my face just rude yeah it's just rude yeah and also i want
people to be more active like don't be a lazy fuck excuse my language sorry oh my god oh we
gotta cut we have to edit that.
We can't cuss on this.
Yeah, there's ads on this.
This isn't a Patreon episode.
Let's wrap it up.
Let's just get out of here.
I wasn't sure.
Yeah, come on, bird people, bird gang.
Don't do that.
Get off the trail.
That's for people who are taking exercise seriously, man.
There's a dude in my neighborhood who cuts across the park with his kid and drives his kid to school on a bird what and then picks him up i
see him every day talk about promoting an activity i mean i feel like you could easily walk your
child to school his kid has one leg oh my god no that's not true at all i made that up have you
ever been on one before it's not true no i haven't yeah that's not surprising they're actually a lot of fun they're a lot no don't do
it because people why is it not surprising people get hurt because you're because when you can if
you're able to bird somewhere then you can probably also walk or jog there and yeah you're
miss health over here so this so like we're at a group dinner we're at mako with live and we're
like all right let's go down alright, let's go down to
West 6th. Let's go further down. Let's go to Woodrow's.
And we call an Uber and Liv's like,
I'm actually just going to jog.
I'll see you over there.
I'm going to hit a quick cardio.
I brought my rollerblades.
She has her blades
slung over her shoulder.
Can you imagine?
Do you blade?
Do you shred? When I was younger, i used to rollerblade a lot i feel
like miami's a big blade everybody rollerblades their show right like in las olas and fort
lauderdale right along the beach people rollerblade all the time with like the old school headphones
and like a chain necklace and you're like what is this place but it's cool and everyone's tan yeah you know we call that swag
here hell yeah we do so we're done steaming huh yeah let's turn the steam off yeah we were in
here for a while it's hot i get one last whip in let's ask hey live can you speak to the health
benefits of a steam room uh yeah so obviously when you're making yourself sweat you're sweating out toxins so number one
first and foremost you know if you want to if you had a late night you're drinking a lot of
alcohol you need to get release your toxins steam and also heavily rehydrate so that's great it's
also great for your pores um yeah poor gameore Game's stupid over here on Dylan.
Look at that shit.
Hell yeah, Dave.
Seriously, tiny pores.
That's what you want, right?
You do want tiny pores.
It looks like you do have tiny pores.
Well, thank you for saying that.
I like to hit the cold shower after a steam,
close those pores back up, you know?
Right. And also that temperature shock is good,
which is funny because my parents growing up they
always said to not ever do that you know like don't go from hot to cold apparently it could
also I think it can kill you if you if it's something massively extreme but a lot of people
are doing it now where they go into cryotherapy and sauna i haven't really gotten into that train mostly because it's not available both to just hop into one and the other um but saunas are really good
for your cardiovascular health as well so heart health if you uh want to hop in the sauna for 20
minutes what about shock proteins post-workout sauna post-workout i mean post-workout sauna
is great i could really we do that yeah we're the lifetime boys yeah you are oh yeah that's
where i go you go to lifetime yeah are you downtown or south downtown oh come on come south
we're in south it's doper whoa okay it's so big and nice and luxurious okay it's i mean the
downtown one's great too well you haven't been to the one down south.
Okay.
But I haven't been to that one, though, so I shut up.
Yeah, I mean, it's downtown.
You know, I run to it.
Okay.
Of course you do.
I bird to the one down south.
I've been blading to the one down south.
I bird down Mopac to get to it.
Dylan rides the bird, but I've got my blades on, and I'm sketching on the back.
I've got my hands on his waist waist and we're just hauling ass.
We really have to recreate that.
We can make that happen. I would die.
That would be amazing.
It's a great place, though. It is.
I'll come with you guys. We could do that.
Hey, do you need to get out of here by a certain time?
We're moving slowly down this rundown is what I ask.
No. Okay. No, let's
do this. Great great let's talk as
long as we want hey do you guys know dylan has low t or had low t that's not technically accurate
i mean it's accurate i was in i was so i went and got my t checked yeah and i was within the normal
range but on the low end of the normal range so like five six four hundreds right four hundred
fours okay yeah yeah so So he was like, yeah.
I was like, yeah, what should I do?
Talk to my doctor.
He's like, well, I can give you some stuff that makes your body produce more of it.
And I was like, all right, let's try it or whatever.
My T shot up to 1312.
Wow.
And he's like, dude, that's too high.
It is too high.
You need to back down.
Yeah.
So he took me off of it a little bit.
So is this bioidentical hormones?
I mean, not to pry into your life.
No.
Wait, honey, I don't really know what that means, but.
Jeez.
We knew you were optimized, but chill.
No.
It's not T replacement.
Okay.
So you go to a hormone replacement therapy clinic and they have offered different types
of hormones.
There's bioidentical hormones, which are derived from yams.
Those are like a natural kind of replacement.
He said if I did T replacement therapy that it would make me sterile.
Okay.
So I was like, oh yeah, I don't want to do that.
Yeah, no.
Might want to have another kid one day.
Yeah, you produce such cute babies.
I'm telling you, it's almost a crime if I don't have more right um but the stuff i'm taking it
doesn't do that doesn't make you sterile just it just makes your body produce more of it okay
how do you feel i feel great yeah like my energy's up i'm sleeping better um uh my workouts have been
better it's going great tell her the other thing you were telling Will and I
Dave don't make this about sex
sex drive is through the roof
didn't you say you put a hole in the mattress
I did not say that
thank you Dave
but yeah
wow
I don't know where we're going with this really
okay so how old are you
oh wow i mean so you can get a straight answer i didn't even think i'm blessed let's see what
answer he says this time i'm 35 35 i'm 35 so um male testosterone your testosterone boosts
when you're 30 so it declines after 30 which normal. Um, and then factors that affect your tests are sleep
and stress. If you're overweight, you're not overweight, obviously, but if you are overweight,
you can have low T, um, medications. There's a lot of different things that can affect it.
And then age. So as you age, you, you produce less testosterone. So it's not that abnormal.
Um, also, I'm not saying you did this but if you cycled
on steroids like a lot of people in their younger years a lot of people think i do steroids but i
don't cycle on steroids okay well i mean i wasn't sure in college a lot of you know people are we're
all stupid and we all just take whatever but like guys in particular all of my guy friends took
steroids and they had no idea
what they were doing to their bodies you know and so later in life that does affect you in your 30s
40s that you know okay so my voice is cracked does that mean my t's low yeah probably does
am i like just becoming a man so my t high dave wants to get his t checked so no i had mine checked
like three-ish years ago i had to so i we'll just
pull back the curtain i've told this before so i i pee a lot so i had to get like a i had to get my
prostate checked and while i was in there i was like hey check my tea out and i was in the same
range as dylan like the 400s and they're like low-ish you know you don't really need anything
and i was like i don't feel great but i don feel awful. So I think what we're kind of curious about is like, okay,
is there some foods or supplements that we could be taking
to help our body create testosterone more?
Or just to be more readily available, just a natural way to do it.
I know it's not going to be as good as testosterone replacement therapy,
but you hear zinc or magnesium, stuff like that. What do we need to do to just to make
sure our body's getting the most out of it? Yeah. So, um, a really good source of zinc is pumpkin
seeds. Um, so pumpkin seeds are great food to add to your diet. I actually made this recipe for Onnit called the Chub Salad.
Oh, come on. It's too easy. I'm sorry. Sorry, you're doing serious content.
Liz is doing serious content. I'm sorry. No, no, no. Here it goes.
I'm sorry. The Chub Salad is obviously not serious content. I mean, it was play on words.
Okay, so the chub salad, I designed it for boosting your testosterone,
but also being a good pre-meal before the bedroom because it contains beets, which naturally contain nitrates,
and nitrates are converted into nitric oxide in the body,
which is a vasodilator, so it pumps, is more blood flow.
So you see a lot of beets in pre-workout powders, too.
Beetalete is, I think, one of the pre-workout powders, but also it's good for, you know, down there, erectile dysfunction.
Oh, Dylan.
Yeah.
Why are you looking at me, dog?
Well, I was just saying, are you listening?
Yeah, I'm listening. Just in in general this fucking guy over here just nods off okay and then so other parts of the salad watermelon um it contains l-citrulline and
l-citrulline converts into l-arginine l-arginine is a precursor to nitric oxide as well.
So, oh, and then on top of it, I put a little bit of extra virgin olive oil and some feta cheese.
And they've shown that monounsaturated fats and saturated fats produce more testosterone in the long run.
So saturated fats are like dairy and meats, cheeses. And then monounsaturated fats
is like extra virgin olive oil, avocado, some nuts and seeds as well. So if you increase your intake
of saturated fats and monounsaturated fats particularly, and then eat some watermelon,
beet, some pumpkin seeds.
You're going to be solid.
Oh, and also arugula.
I put some arugula in the salad too.
Oh, damn.
Can we get a hold of one of these?
Yeah.
You guys want me to make you a chub salad?
Absolutely, dude.
Okay.
Dude, let's just go to town on chub salad.
Dude, Dave put on like 40 pounds of muscle, like just nothing but chub salad.
I'm on that chub salad diet.
Oh, man.
Do you remember the first time you did the pod and you told Dylan like like hey you should eat avocados you're trying to gain weight and
dylan gained like 25 pounds no i didn't gain 25 pounds i feel like i was putting bad weight on
when i wanted i was eating a lot of avocados were you working out yeah okay well i don't know what
the rest of your diet looks like so i can't really say it's it's pretty trash don't put
live on blast like that yeah i mean it's no no it wasn't on her
it probably was other stuff other factors yeah that's what people you know when people worry
about like eating you know rice or something like that or or carrots because they're too high in
carbs i'm always like what's the rest of your diet look like you shouldn't be worried about
like those little things that are whole food sources think about like the other crap you're
putting into your body not saying that you do but i don't need the avocados i don't need
badly but um i could definitely eat better than i do yeah okay well i'm glad we came to that
conclusion man i just can't stop thinking about this chub salad oh yeah let's go get let's go
get the watermelon is a game changer that's gonna pair well with like the saltiness of some of the
other ingredients and it's just gonna just go to flavor town hard look at you yeah i really liked it uh
it was actually one of my first youtube videos for on it well not first but a slew of them and uh
i read the youtube comments which everybody told me don't anything you put out into you know
especially youtube i think youtube
commenters are the scummiest of all commenters it is the word i cry i mean not just from that
actually that was not that bad because someone made you cry no it was from another video you
know when people insult my intelligence who who are these that i don't i want it i want addresses
no one no one makes lift seriously his tea is so high right now.
I will just rip someone's head off their body.
I would love that.
I mean, I wouldn't love it, but yeah.
Some people deserve it.
But yeah, YouTube commenters are the worst.
They are.
They're pretty troll-y.
Troll-y.
So are you still doing the intermittent fasting stuff?
For the most part, yeah. My schedule is a little whack right now. So it's hard because
I'm work. So I'm working as a line cook to get the experience and at this new restaurant. So
new restaurant hours are pretty insane. And I've been working 16 hour days, which has been quite
laborious and exhausting.
So doing intermittent fast on that is a little bit more difficult.
I try to as much as I can, but, you know, I was doing intermittent fasting primarily
for a caloric restriction.
Like some people, you know, there's benefits of fasting outside of caloric restriction,
but an aspect of it is if you're eating during a smaller window of time,
you're eating less calories throughout the day, mostly, you know? And so if I'm not hungry in the
morning and I'm just having coffee and I eat later in the day, I'm eating for a few hours during the
day, which means I'm eating less during the day rather than starting earlier, you know? So I like
it in that regard. And I really am not hungry in the
morning so having coffee and my cold brew with my almond milk I'm good to go and then usually around
like 12 or 1 I'll eat my first meal but with working as a cook right now I am you know you're
you're not really eating very much during the day um so I'll come home and have my last meal when I got
home at like one in the morning, which is, you know, my circumstance right now. And that's okay.
You know, like if that, if you go through periods of time where you're eating late at night or even,
I mean, I enjoy eating late at night. So if I eat 11 PM, I'm okay with that. Cause then I'll
fast usually in the morning. I got a little worried when I saw that I had a text from you at like 1.50 a.m.
Yeah.
Like, yeah, hey, got everything.
And I was like, did she go to pop tonight?
Like, is she spiraling?
Like, we haven't talked in a while.
She's shutting down the bar on a Tuesday.
Damn.
I really wanted to go hard.
Yeah, I know.
I mean, I have never worked until 1.30 in the morning before. So that's a whole
nother ballgame. And it's a great learning experience. I mean, seeing a restaurant open,
because that's what I want to do one day is open up my own restaurant. But I'm definitely
rethinking it now because you see how difficult it is. And, um, and it's pretty insane,
you know, the hours. And I have so much more respect for people in the industry.
That industry is always, yeah.
Like just, I feel like I would be just so overwhelmed by so many moving parts.
So many.
Got to have, you know, food being delivered all the time, fresh food and the waste you have to
account for and so many employees and scheduling it seems crazy to me but it's also so rewarding because so the restaurant that i'm
working at it's opening downtown austin we just opened up the last night it's a modern mexican
restaurant really beautiful swanky it's like so nice and um people that i work with care so much, you know, and it's really invigorating
when you work with people who care about what they do versus going to an office every day
and no one gives a shit, you know, and that's hard, you know, that, that wears on you. You are
the average of the people that you surround yourself with. So if you're around people who
give a fuck about what they're doing with their life, you like yeah i'm gonna do this too you know like no matter if you're working till one in the morning you
like you're doing it for a bigger cause it's a family it's community it's really cool when you're
passionate about what you're working on it's much different than just going through the motions it
feels better and yeah yeah yeah it's so rewarding and i have a lot of respect for the chefs and
all the cooks that i work with and that's awesome it's cool to see you want to drop the name of the
restaurant common door common door c-o-m-e-d-o-r common door common door you're not common door
oh that's right that does sound like a it would be a trendy restaurant in austin i'm opening i'm
opening a bar down the street common door right Right by Garage Bar Have you all been there?
I haven't, I've heard good things
It's cool, so you can go hit up Commodore
Have some good food, I make it for you
And then you guys can go next door to Garage Bar
If we show up to this place
Like Dylan and I, maybe even Will
We go sit down, we're in the corner
We've got a nice little booth
We're eating chub salads
But we say, look, hey
If this meal wasn't prepared by Liv, we send it back.
Will they do that? Like, can we guarantee that you will be preparing our meal?
No, because we all have stations and the kitchen would be a mad house if I,
and I, I mean, also I'm, I'm still learning. So kitchen is fast paced, like real fast paced. And
I'm definitely, you know, I'm, I try to be as efficient as possible,
but I'm definitely not at the speed I should be.
So there's no way I could cook all the meals.
But we have some awesome people.
Chef Alon, Chef Gabe, you know, Chef Liv.
Sneaky shouts to Gabe.
Shouts, Gabe.
You're doing good work, man.
Hey, we've got a couple of questions that were DM'd
first one
it's about CBD
and let me be clear
we do have a CBD sponsor
on this pod
shout out to Early Bird
but
this is not Spawn
I just got a lot of these
questions on Snapchat
because people want to know
so
are you familiar with
the Masters
the golf tournament
it just went down.
My dad went all the time.
He used to go all the time.
Oh, wow.
Flex.
Because I'm like the only one.
Shouts to Mr. Langdon.
You're the only one.
I've never gone.
So there was kind of, it wasn't a controversy,
but people were curious.
So they kept showing Tiger and he was chewing gum.
He's never been a gum chewer on the course.
He ended up winning.
I don't know if you saw that.
Fifth green jacket.
And Phil, they caught Phil on camera.
Tincture.
Dropping a little tinky in his mouth.
Tincture.
We're like, okay, what's up?
So the rumor was that they're getting into CBD.
Yeah, it's taking over the PGA Tour.
Yeah, I heard.
So Tron from No Laying Up was saying like, you know, all these guys are messing with
CBD now, which makes sense.
It's legal on there, you know, as long as the THC level is not too high, right?
Yeah, under 0.3%.
What would the benefit be of somebody who's playing golf, just doing CBD while playing
because I get why afterward, like anti-inflammatory and whatnot, but during a round, what would
be the benefit?
So CBD is really great for anxiety and not saying that the golfers are anxious, but I mean, in a way, yeah, because I'm sure there's some type of like, uh, pressure obviously when you're
competing in the masters. And so it kind of helps ease and slow things down and be more present in the moment I mean this is
just I'm speaking from personal experience but um but that's what it does for me I take CBD every
single morning and it like relaxes me in the way that I can like just focus on what I'm doing you
know so because it's good for anxiety I'd imagine it's really good for the players because they get to, they're kind of like, they can hone in versus being a little bit nervous,
a little bit shaky, you know, whatever it is that they're dealing with performance anxiety.
Yeah. And golf. I mean, even, even like the best in the world who have done it, like Tiger and Phil,
I could see why you're fucking playing, you know, the final round of the masters. CBD is going to
come through clutch, right? Dylan, are you doing CBD at all?
Are you taking any?
I do sometimes.
Usually on Sunday when I'm feeling a little bit anxious
and I need to get a good night's sleep
because it just helps calm me down.
Yeah.
I just like that Phil was so sketchy about how he was doing it.
Assuming that's what he was doing.
He was definitely doing a tincture, right?
And that's the little, what's that?
The little mini turkey baster looking thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it's like, okay, so I'm just going to assume it's that.
But he was like looking around as he did it,
like making sure there were no cameras.
And there were.
You're Phil and you're at the Masters.
You're at the Masters.
I've heard a lot of golfers do it.
Really?
Yeah, like particularly professional golfers.
Did you ever meet Scott Stallings? I know he works at it on it. He's not. Like particularly professional golfers. Did you ever meet Scott
Stallings? I know he works at an Onnit. He's not a, like a super well-known golfer. I mean,
he's been around the tour for like five or 10 years, but I always see him, like people working
out with him at Onnit at the gym. I don't know if you've ever crossed paths with him. No, I don't
know. I don't think I've, I probably would recognize him, but no, I've never met him.
Cool. Um, what else? Oh yeah. The other thing. Okay, cool., I haven't met him. Cool. What else?
Oh, yeah.
The other thing.
Okay, cool.
And I put this on here.
I suck at breakfast.
My breakfast game is always the same.
And it's because I just, I don't have a ton of time.
We record, I know Boo Hoo, right?
We record at 9 a.m. normally.
But, you know, I get up at like 7.30.
I just do, I whip up like three eggs in like a piece
of sourdough for toast and i feel like that's not the worst breakfast but it's just so boring and i
wonder like should i even be messing with breakfast should i just skip breakfast altogether kind of
goes back to the intermittent fasting stuff what's like for somebody who's just trying to be
optimized and maybe you know work out put on some gains what's a good base for a breakfast so for
gain for is it team gains for gains okay because you know it all depends on what you're trying to
accomplish you know people try to do everything and i don't think they realize why they're doing
something are you trying to put on lean muscle mass are you trying to lose body fat are you trying to increase longevity you know it's what's your ultimate goal because there's not
like a one diet that just is going to cure everyone because then we would all be doing it
so intermittent fasting is great for basically it's called it's like autophagy of your cells the death of your
old cells rebirth of your new cells so but you can get that from fasting but you could also get
that from a caloric restricted diet so it's you know you don't have to necessarily intermittent
fast for that in terms of weight loss it's good like i said before because you're eating for less
less hours during the day so in in, you're getting caloric restriction from that.
But in terms of gains, like you want to put on lean muscle mass, you're trying to consume
more calories and more good type of macronutrients.
So good types of carbs, good types of protein, good types of fat.
And so eating in the morning, it doesn't matter.
If you want to intermittent fast, just because it's easier for your schedule.
Some people aren't hungry in the morning.
They're in a rush to go to work.
Like they don't have time.
You could still intermittent fast and put on lean muscle mass easily.
And then, you know, you could also do the opposite.
If you want to eat breakfast in the morning and then eat either, you know, small meals
throughout the day day that could put
on lean muscle mass too. It really all depends on what your goals are and then what your schedule
is like and what you prefer. Because if you're going to do something that is not sustainable
for you in the long run, what's the point of fucking doing it? You know? Well said. Yeah.
That's what I think. So just that's when I have worked with clients in the past and when I, you
know, just help friends out now.
Those are the things I always tell them to think about.
And so for you in particular, if you love having breakfast, go for it.
Yeah, that's a little boring.
I mean, I could see the monotony of having sourdough bread and three eggs.
But I'm glad you eat the whole eggs, number one, because egg egg yolks are really important source of choline which
is really good for well it's good i won't get into the details sometimes i go you know down
rabbit holes okay so um also sourdough bread is great because it's fermented so um it helps you
digest gluten so people who are gluten intolerant can digest sourdough bread better than other types of bread.
So I like that as well, especially if you're doing local sourdough bread.
Damn it.
Oh, you're not.
H-E-B.
Oh, okay.
You're not buying local?
What's your problem?
I know.
Just if you're doing local sourdough bread, there's more integrity that goes into the bread making.
there's more integrity that goes into the bread making, you know, they're usually using. So in order to ferment, they, you have to have a starter and people carry their starters for years. I mean,
so there's a local place called sour duck and that's where we sourced our sourdough bread for
our toast and on a cafe. And he was carrying around there. It's called the mother, you know,
He was carrying around, it's called the mother, you know, the source of it.
He was carrying it for 10 years.
So 10 years, you basically, every time you start a new batch,
you use a little bit of the old batch to make the next one.
And that's how you continue the cycle. So it's like a really diverse, you know, fermentation is like live.
You know, these are live probiotics.
So you're creating this really diverse diverse profile of um of probiotics which is really cool live bacterias and the longer you
have it the you know just it has so much soul and life to it you know that's some trill ass bread
yeah um no that that makes sense no no no okay yeah yeah so any and then there's a lot of other
good things that you can do for your your breakfast too um okay cool yeah i don't know i i'd heard
that on a on like a rogan podcast or something what's the sourdough yeah yeah sourdough but i
mean if you're gonna do bread i would say sourdough is the way to go but it also I would say that there are
people who cut corners and
if you're getting a mass produced sourdough
bread it's probably not as good as a
local sourdough bread. I'm about to go local
as fuck. You have to.
Dylan and I are about to just, we're going to go find those sourduck
guys. Is that what you call them? Sourduck? Yeah, sourduck.
It's the same owners of Barley Swine
and Odd Duck. Oh nice.
I enjoy Odd Duck. Where do you get your bread from? Probably Mrs. Baird's, you owners of Barley Swine and Odd Duck. Oh, nice. If you've been to any of them. Yeah.
I enjoy Odd Duck.
Where do you get your bread from?
Probably Mrs. Baird, you piece of shit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Honestly, yeah, that's what I get.
Where?
I go to H-E-B and hit the bread aisle.
Look, I don't take food as seriously as you guys do.
I need to. I understand my diet's not fantastic. No, I seriously as you guys do. I need to.
I understand my diet's not fantastic.
No, I mean, you look great.
Yeah, well, thanks.
Your T is like 1,500, so you're fine.
You can dial the T down.
So a question I've always wanted to ask you is like,
what's like some dope shit Liv's doing that nobody knows about? Because I feel like you're going to be doing it.
Like whether it's you were probably early on cryo or I don't know, being in the little,
the on it community, I feel like they're, they're kind of cutting edge.
Yeah.
Like what's something you're doing now that like we're not doing?
Like whether it's recovery or workout related, anything.
So I've been on a mushroom kick lately.
It's not magic mushrooms.
It's, well, I i mean those are great too
but this is uh so learning i'm learning more about like the healing properties of mushrooms
and um have you heard of paul stamets he's been on tim ferris's podcast before he's like the father
of of mushrooms he's a mycologist which which is someone who studies mushrooms. And he has a supplement
line called host defense. I feel like I'm plugging him, but it's just, I have no affiliation with
them whatsoever. Yeah. I just, I love it. And so I take, uh, their brain formula, which is a blend
of different mushrooms. It's cordyceps and reishi and lion's mane. Lion's mane is really good for
your memory and your focus so you know uh full
disclosure after burning man i felt like i wasn't i didn't have as much clarity you know is it because
you were at burning man i mean it probably was you know i i went a little too hard and it happens
you know yeah it happens that's it that's life and i was like you know what i miss that feeling when i was in high
school and i was just you know you're so sharp in high school did you feel like you were sharp
in high school man i was such a scumbag i was listening to limp biscuit in high school i totally
nailed it in high school yeah i was a shithead okay so maybe maybe not okay yeah sorry your
anecdote sounded valid though okay well i was really sharp
in high school now those are like my that prime time you know straight a student overachiever
like that kind of girl so i was like and this is before you know in college you discover adderall
and adderall is like you know your gateway into graduating and um and anyways i just wanted to gain some clarity
i didn't want to take adderall which i was prescribed i wanted to like kind of just like
focus on rebuilding my cognitive function and just really gaining some clarity so i started
taking lion's mane every morning and i do um I do it from host defense and I also take
the brain formula um I also started taking sam e so this is these are just recommendations from
uh this a friend of mine who's a doctor and he's like you know um he's like you know you should
definitely be taking lion's mane and sammy but you cycle
sammy but it's really good for um glutathione production which is like um it's really good for
it's a good antioxidant essentially a really powerful antioxidant for your body so um so
anyways i did that uh did lion's mane um doing Alpha Brain in the mornings as well.
I'm not taking any Adderall.
And I swear, it's subtle, but it's pretty substantial that I really do feel like my memory is better.
My recall is better.
Just like clarity as a whole.
I know it's just so ambiguous, but I just feel better,
honestly. Like, um, and I, and I did take Adderall for a while after like from college beyond, um, just to survive, you know, adult life is hard and you're just like, holy crap. Like
all the things you have to figure out in your twenties. And, um, and then I relied heavily
on that to get by, but then I realized I'm just moving
faster.
I'm not being more productive.
Like, yeah.
Oh yeah.
You know, I'm just moving faster.
I realized I, I just sat down one day.
I'm like, I'm not increasing really productivity.
I feel like I think I'm increasing productivity, but I'm not actually doing it.
And, and then beyond that, you know, you get the highs and the crashes and I felt like
crap afterwards. And I just don't want to feel like crap, you know, I don't want to feel like
crap. So I really started going heavily into taking care of my mind first. And, um, also
something that's really good for cognitive function is consuming healthy fats. So I, you know, increase, make sure
I'm getting my healthy fats from egg yolks and avocado, nut seeds, olive oil. I am like not
consuming a ton of red meat, which I also feel better doing. I know we're in Texas, so that's
kind of like, fuck you. But I love red meat. It's not that i don't love red meat um but i do it you know not
off as often uh it's like a treat for me if i'm going out we're going to a nice steakhouse like
i'll eat it and then i love bacon i mean bacon's amazing but these are all treats for me out if i
consume predominantly like a fish based diet i feel phenomenal that sounds dope but like i can't
get past like the lion's mane stuff
like so who actually goes in and are they actually killing the lion or is it just like
tranking it and like shaving the mane like what's that just cut the mane off did you not get the
mushroom part in the beginning my lion's mane is a mushroom come on dave holy shit are you serious
yes that's cool because we're a big cat podcast we are pro big cat we do love big cats
yeah first of all oh my gosh but what is cool they call it lion's mane because it looks like
lion's mane so there's all different type mushrooms are you know they all look different
this one kind of has like this furry exterior and it looks like a lion's mane yeah that lion's mane
just hits different yeah anytime we have you on I really enjoy listening to all the health stuff that you talk about,
but it also makes me feel like a total piece of shit.
Oh, my gosh.
I never feel unhealthier than I do when I leave a live pod.
But it makes me want to get healthier.
Oh, I'm going to go back and listen to this.
Oh, I am too.
I absolutely am.
Wow.
I'm going to take notes.
I'm going to go back and listen.
Oh, I am too.
I absolutely am. I'm going to take notes.
You know who was in the lines, man, was our old buddy, Ad,
who we used to work with at Grand X.
Was he?
He was into the mushroom stuff, yeah.
I think that was the psychedelic kind of day.
No, no, no.
I don't want to put him on blast.
Well, they also work synergistically, apparently.
Really?
Man, that makes sense.
Yeah, you know what Paul Stam paul stamus said on tim ferris podcast that
he was asked like what we we can all do better on a daily basis and he thinks that you know rather
than cut trees down we should or if trees fall over in a hurricane or whatever you should let
them rot because if you let them rot that's where mushrooms grow and mushrooms like he's
saying that it's actually going to help our bee population they are dying at an alarming rate yeah i'm concerned about exactly so uh so i
think mushrooms might save us mushrooms are great mushrooms are gonna save us yeah and four sigma
if you don't like taking pills four sigmatic is another brand that i love that they make it into
little instant coffee packs or they blend it with like different,
you know, mushroom or different mushrooms and also like superfoods to create elixirs that you
mix with hot water. And it's, you know, they have like golden milk latte and then they have like a
hot cocoa one at the end of the night, Mexican chocolate one. They have a coffee one.
They have like a whole line of stuff now and they just sent me actually a new um face line that they're coming out with because you absorb as much
as you you know you should care about what you're putting into your mouth you should care that's
not a weird but you should care about what you're putting onto your skin like we absorb you know
almost equivalent amount through our skin as much as we do what we're eating so they created a skin
care line that's a serum and face mask.
So I just did my first mushroom face mask the other day.
And you can eat it.
So you just put the face mask on, take a lick.
It's kind of cool.
Wow.
Don't just stare at it.
Eat it.
What's wrong with you?
No, that's what you do.
Did you stare in the mirror and slowly peel it down?
No, I wish it was a peel-off.
No, it's one of the ones that gets crispy and hard,
and you can't move your face.
But I also think I kept it on for too long.
Didn't you do face masks at one point?
Somebody did.
Maybe it was Will.
It wasn't me, man.
One of us did.
I've done one before.
Will has no skin to put it on.
His beard goes up to his eyelids.
I mean, seriously, he's like a chromosome away from just one wolf man.
It's a great beard.
He's a wool sock.
Hey, let's take a second to acknowledge our friends at Roback.
Dylan, you see what I'm wearing right now?
You check this out.

I was actually shocked that you weren't wearing the same one today.
And then I'm going to the gym, baby.

So they don't just do athletic wear.
They do polos.
Their polos are fantastic.
The hats.
The quarter zip.
That's my favorite.
The hats fit so well.
They fit so well.

That's like circling back cb20 new promo code
check it out now the question that everybody wants to know what's next for live langdon in 2019 wow
everybody wants to know that's what they want to know yeah well so i'm i hate this phrase but i am
working on building my website and brand and creating more of a community
with my followers because I freaking like, I want to be friends with everybody. And I think that
we can all, you know, come together a little bit more and be more real with in the health and
wellness community. Because I think that there's a lot of like fear mongering and um cult
like things that go on and if you're not part of that then you know stay away I want it to be more
inclusive and just like you know instill an idea that it's important to take care of yourself but
it's also important to have a really high quality life and have a fun life and
to enjoy the moment and I just read this quote the other day and I loved it and it's be happy
for this moment for this moment is your life and I thought that was so profound because it's even
if you're going through shit or something is difficult or the
fun like relish and enjoy every single moment of your of your life because this is what we got like
you know this is this is it this is the story we're gonna tell one day you know so i just want
to promote that more damn has anyone ever knocked that question out of the park like live just did
oh no that was an all-timer.
Oh, my God.
I'm actually tearing up.
I'm inspired as fuck right now.
You know, it reminds me of a quote.
It's, some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this.
Kelly Clarkson.
It's very similar.
That is actually, it's really similar.
Oh, David.
It's true.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, it's really similar.
So, yeah.
So, I'm building my brand.
I'm still involved with Onnit, like writing for them.
I love writing.
It's my favorite outlet.
I guess that was my journalism degree from college that came in handy.
And not from Mizzou.
Let me just point that out.
Not from Mizzou.
Because like everybody who comes on here,
we have so many people who got journalism degrees from Mizzou.
I love that you're a Florida person.
Where's Mizzou?
It's in Columbia, Missouri. Oh, okay. University of missouri mizzou's a nickname for oh yeah sorry yeah i love that you didn't know that because wow i didn't even know yeah no i
enjoyed that yeah uh yeah university of florida go gators let's go go go gators so uh yeah and i
and i'm really enjoying this restaurant experience too you know
um it's something that i'm gaining a lot of experience from and i think some one of the
things that i've been you know thinking about lately is i don't think of you know i'm i used
to always think of the future like what am i going to do next what am i going to do next what am i
going to do next and i think a lot of us fall into that trap. And, you know, I'm more so
I've kind of like, take taken a step back and just enjoying the present moment, you know, exactly
what's coming today, what am I doing focus on and giving my 100% because I'm evolving, like, and I
look at life in phases, and we should always constantly aim to evolve and grow.
And if that incorporates changing your environment or changing your career or changing paces,
that's great.
That's part of the story.
My biggest fear is doing the same thing every day for the rest of my life.
That's my biggest fear.
So if I'm not doing that, I feel good.
Damn.
Man, let's just be more like live um what a soul so you know where do we go from here i was good no hey let's talk about this
weekend it is time for a little segment we like to call this weekend in fun and as always it's
presented by ice and howers on rainy street yeah Our go-to spot on Rainy Street, live music on Thursday and Sunday.
It's our favorite spot.
I'm craving that sangria.
Oh, it's so good.
You go to town on that sangria day.
It's huge.
You get twisted off it.
I can do like one and a half and then, you know.
Yeah, you black.
I'm done.
You get blacked.
For sure.
I usually start these off, but let's do ladies first.
This weekend, what are you doing in fun?
So, weekend in fun.
One, I was actually going to go potentially with my friends to the restaurant that I'm working at
and see it on the other side and get to enjoy the food and show them what it's all about.
Well, definitely.
That'll be cool.
Yeah, would you guys want to come?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, perfect.
We'll see you.
Yes, actually.
My next question.
Really, yeah.
I have nothing to do.
We're influencers, so. That's We'll see. I mean, yes, actually. Like, really, yeah. I have nothing to do. We're influencers, so.
That's all that matters.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean.
Wow.
I haven't looked at the weather, but if it's sunny, you know I'm on the trail.
It's going to be nice.
Is it going to be sunny?
I'm talking like low 80s or high 70s sunny. Oh, then I'm outside. I might be popping the top gonna be sunny I'm talking like like low 80s or high 70s

I'm not ready for that, Dave.
Okay, well.
Just throwing it out there.

Greenbelt on a beautiful weekend is always great.
Yeah, the GB is what I call it.
Just a weekend of outdoor activities for you.
Yeah.
Fuck yeah.

Get some vitamin D.
Hell yeah.
Take your shirts off.
Hell yeah.
Pop the top, as we like to say.
Oh, pop the top.
Yeah, we like to pop the top.
Is that, oh, take your shirts off. Yeah. Pop the top. Yeah, we do that. Sometimes, pop the top. Yeah, we like to pop the top. Oh, take your shirts off. Yeah.
Pop the top. Sometimes Dave likes to
twist it around his head like a helicopter, too.
Yeah, and I get
a wild out. You're the wild man.
Do you say North Carolina?
Yeah, I do.
Shout out to Petey Pablo.
God, it's such a good song.
It is a good song. He doesn't get the respect he deserves.
No, what happened to him?
What happened to Petey Bob?
I don't know what else he did after that one.
Probably playing the frat circuit, maybe.
Yeah.
I'd go see him.
I'd go see him.
That's a dope weekend.
What are you doing?
I'll go next.
Friday, it's going to be low-key for me.
Me and the homie will just be chilling at the crib.
Might catch a dinner somewhere.
Not real sure.
Might watch cartoons.
I don't know.
We're just going to be hanging out.
Might step out. Don't know. Saturday, I mean, whatever Liv's doing. I'm just going to do whatever she's doing. Might watch cartoons. I don't know. Where's she going to be hanging out? Might step out.
Don't know.
Saturday, I mean, whatever Liv's doing.
I'm just going to do whatever she's doing.
Yeah, same.
Yeah, I have nothing on the books.
Maybe play golf at some point, Dave.
I don't know.
I got the new sticks from Callaway.
I haven't swung them yet.
Would like to.
Yeah.
Think about it.
That's all I'm saying.
Okay.
What about you, player?
Oh, you know, I just remembered.
I honestly, I was like nodding along and I think, man, this is going to be tight.
But I'm actually, I'm going back to Dallas on Friday.
You jerk.
Yeah, Easter weekend.
Is that where you live?
Yeah.
Where you're from?
From there.
You've probably heard of it, Duncanville.
They won state in 6A boys basketball this year.
You probably knew that.
Yeah, you've probably heard about it.
Yeah, of course.
Yeah, well, I'm going back up there just to check in on the teams.
You know, shake some hands. also hang out with the family.
My wife and I are from the same hometown.
I forgot that it's Easter this weekend.
I know, I did too.
I don't have plans.
He is risen.
That's what they say.
Yeah, people say that.
How did you forget?
Do you do, does Parks get all dressed up and go to church?
I want him to get all pastelled out because, you know, it's Easter.
You can officially break out the pastels uh he doesn't really have much uh much
pastel in the closet you should do an easter egg hunt oh yeah he'll do an easter egg hunt
no he's doing one at school and then we'll probably do one uh at home too but he'll be
with his mom for okay for easter so i am actually playing golf with my dad saturday morning and then
i'll be doing family stuff but But you might see me out.
You might see me in uptown.
Probably not uptown.
You might see me like Katie Trail, though, in Dallas.
Keep your eyes open for me.
Damn.
Keep your eyes open.
I'm available for photos.
Just one photo, though.
Just one.
Don't make it weird.
Actually, I was in Dallas for the UT game,
and I ran into somebody at a bar who had heard me on touching base and who had heard me on
touching base really yeah dallas is a big and he was like and i was like damn this is so cool
recognize you huh i'm like wow i feel legit you're like oh you've been creeping my gram
you are legit that's great it felt cool i'm sure you guys get it a lot, though.
So maybe it's not as cool to you guys.
It happens.
Yeah.
It's fun.
It's fun for us.
It was a moment.
Well, that wraps her up.
That was great.
That was a fun pod.
That was a great pod.
I think people are going to like that.
Hopefully.
That was an A1 pod.
Hey, if we want to find you on social media, where can we find you?
Or on the website.
You've got the website going to plug everything.
Yeah. social media where can we find you or on the website you got the website going to plug everything yeah so i'm at live langdon everywhere l-i-v-l-a-n-g-d-o-n uh twitter i'm not that good
with twitter but i'm getting better uh instagram facebook all those and then uh live langdon.com
is my website now but i'm building out live out loud so i'll probably all have everything
under live out loud dot com i'm gonna take a guess and say that the live and live out loud
does not have an e on the end oh no it does not nope see what she did there it's called branding
you don't know shit about it i need some lion's mane dude yeah rained that's that's exciting i'm
excited for the website yeah did you know, is the LOL intentional?
Actually, that was a afterthought,
but it was perfect yin-yang balance
because, of course, I'm going to be touching on more serious topics.
I want to educate, but LOL is kind of the undertone.
I'm a very dry, sarcastic person.
Nothing is that serious.
Life isn't that serious.
And I think we all can take it a little seriously.
So it's a perfect little hashtag, LOL.
Dude, yin-yangs are sick.
Remember back in the day,
just drawing those in your notebook?
I was just doing the Stussy S.
Oh, I was doing that too.
This one?
Yeah.
I didn't even know the name of it. I used to mess that up.
Me too. It was great. Remember how
many we did of those? Those are so cool.
Fourth grade, if you could draw yin-yang perfectly
and shade it right, you were crushing.
Wow. Yeah.
Well, Liv, that was fun. Thank you so much for coming on.
Thanks for having me. Really appreciate you. Great pod.
