hey what was the craziest locker room or team you was on?
You know what I'm saying?
You've been around different places.
What was the craziest or like the most tense locker room you had to play in?
Most tense locker room?
Like because of the team?
Yeah.
Or it could have just been lit.
It ain't got to be bad.
It could have been real good.
You know what?
The Milwaukee teams.
When we was ready to go.
When we was that bubble year.
Ah, yeah.
Shouts to the bubble. That's when we was doing all that WWE shit bubble year ah yeah shout out to the bubble
that's when we was doing
all that WWE shit
and all that stuff
yeah that was
we was active
that's crazy
Milwaukee was
what's up for you?
I had a little stint
in Milwaukee
snuck out of there
with a championship
yeah you a champ bro
I don't know how
I snuck out of there
with that one
they said
you was
a local rapper living in the studio.
Oh, God, bro.
They said nigga Rich ain't supposed to live in the studio.
I lived in a studio, man.
I lived in a place just like this.
It was just a bed and a...
I don't even think I had a refrigerator.
I think I did have a mini fridge.
Damn.
I didn't care.
I was thugging.
Nah, Milwaukee's a cool... They got some cool guys on their team. They've been around forgin' But uh Nah Milwaukee's a cool
They got some cool guys
On their team
They been around for a while
Y'all is a cool dudes brother
They hilarious
Um
But you got a chance
To be with Rolo
Yeah
Him and Brooke
They
They comedians bro
Well Brooke is
I ain't get a chance
To play with Rolo
That's crazy
That they both twins
And they really that
Fucking big
And they read comic books
And write em Yeah Read books and write them.
Yeah.
Read them and write them.
I said,
this can't be real
when I seen Brooke.
You are 38 years old,
bro.
Why are you reading Superman?
It's like,
what?
Nah,
but shut up.
Them niggas better be nice to Brooke.
That nigga is taller
than the motherfucker.
That's a big boy.
They got switches.
Damn.
They got switches, bro.
You see, I see Brooke.
He going to protect his.
That's, you know, I love Brooke and Rollo.
Yeah, I've been seeing the past games.
Niggas ain't trying.
Everybody else been looking.
Niggas walking away from Brooke Lopez.
Respect.
All right, man, we're going to take it back then,
you know what I'm saying?
Basketball, you know what I'm saying?
Marquette legend.
How did you decide to play at Marquette?
I know you had a couple different offers, you know what saying man actually that was it was crazy because uh i'm from
madison so like all you know is badgers that's it so i'm in the state in the city uh grew up between
madison and milwaukee and had no idea marquette was even there damn like damn that's how that's
how badger state it is so we didn't i didn't really start hearing about marquette was even there. Damn. Like, that's how bad your state it is.
So we didn't,
I didn't really start hearing about Marquette
until D-Wade took him to,
they went to the Final Four,
D-Wade,
Travis Diener,
Novak,
all those guys.
Elite.
So that's when
Marquette started
becoming national.
My mom was like,
yo,
you got to start
paying attention to this.
So I started watching them
a little bit
and then the letters
started coming
and the recruiters
started coming. And honestlyers started coming and honestly
It was who I was gonna come in to Marquette with is what got me there, you know
You know Kareem did a great job of recruiting myself
Jarrell McNeil out of Chicago and Dominique James who I know y'all know. Yeah, you know, he's uh
He like had us all tap in
with each other
at an early
stage of the recruiting process
so like
I would keep up
with Neek's games
and Neek would keep up
with Rails games
Rails looking at my games
and you know
Kreen calling and saying
hey Dominique just had
41
8 and 7
knowing that I got a game
the next night
you know
what am I gonna do
you know
that kind of stuff
so like
it was that the thought of competition that got me to Marquette.
Hey, man, Krent, say what you want.
I've always been a hell of a recruiter, though.
Because even in them IU days.
He had them rolling.
Nah, for real, for real.
Like, he saw Victor Oedipo over there.
Yeah.
And put some squads together at IU.
But, man, that's crazy.
Dominique, hey, you know what I'm saying?
You grew up playing against Dominique in open runs.
Yeah, I did.
I think he was all Big East when I was in high school.
And he came back.
No, I was in college.
I was a freshman.
After my freshman year in college, he came back to play.
And my high school coach was his uncle, cousin, one of them.
And he came back to play at my high school.
So, you know, everybody's like, y'all going to match up.
Yeah, he like, he going to bust your ass.
He going to get on your ass today.
So I'm coming.
I come a little late.
I'm stretching.
So I walk on the court.
My little brother in eighth grade, my brother Marcus,
and he out there frying, cooking Dominique.
I ain't going to lie, I love Dominique.
His mom good people too.
But he was frying him, talking about cooking him.
And I'm like Oh shit
Like
So he come to me
After the game
Was like
Yo brother ready for the league
And I was like
That nigga
He's great
He looked at me
He was like
What
You don't go to weight
I was like
No the guy go to weight
He was like
Oh damn
He thought it was you
Oh damn
The rest of the time
I was like
Oh yeah
I'm about to cook this thing.
He think my brother good?
Oh,
just wait.
No,
but that's my guy,
man,
he good people.
Nah,
don't,
he was cold,
especially like when he had
a pro ass popping in the city
to see him back come in.
Yeah,
he used to give niggas work,
man.
So athletic.
That was,
that was the thing
where it's like,
that jumped out
when I saw him first.
You know,
he little as shit,
you know, but built as shit, you know,
but built this all,
this muscle
and,
but take off.
Touch the sky.
He made plays.
He made,
he made some plays.
That a hell of a bad court.
That front,
that three guard.
Something like them.
The only people
that I ever seen
play three guards like that
was Villanova
with Alan Ray now.
Yeah.
So the fact that Kareem,
like,
how did y'all like, did y'all say,
all right, nigga, this is your night, or did y'all just go off the feel of the game?
Man, honestly, like, that's funny that you said that because that's,
so our freshman year, he took us to the Garden for media day.
We were the only freshmen to do it.
So it was me, Real, Neek, and he brought Novak as well.
And so we at the media day and Alan Ray,
we see Nova.
Oh shit.
Damn man.
Cause you know how all the teams,
all the teams,
they there and they send
whoever to represent.
Yeah.
So he intentionally
had us go there to see like,
cause it was Alan Ray,
Randy Foy,
Curtis Sumter,
Mike Nardi,
and then Lowry.
So that's who we wanted us to see.
Man, I'll tell you, when we played them, they whooped our ass.
We wasn't ready.
We tried.
Nah, niggas don't know how good Allen Ray was.
Bro, that was...
Or Randy Foye.
Randy Foye.
He was like the player of the year.
He was nasty.
I think he might have been the Big East player of the year that year.
Okay. He was nasty. That was a 5 think he might have been the biggest player of the year that year okay it was nasty man i remember that was my 506 year right yeah that was my match
up and that was like you can you know how you can pinpoint like moments in your life your career
like okay this is a learnings tool right now like i can either it's sink or swim time now like because
this just put his shoulder in my chest and I couldn't do a damn thing about it.
Different.
Oh, man.
That way it rolled.
I ain't gonna lie, bro.
I kept that vendetta
all through the league.
Whenever I saw
Reggie Floyd in the league, too.
What?
He ain't never know that.
Y'all think he's the old grinch
that you got to know.
Hey, I love Reggie, though.
He ain't never know that,
but I swear, I'm like,
yo, I don't like
the way you did that.
You were Reggie Jackson, bro.
You were Reggie Jackson. That's how I feel about Reggie Jackson, bro. I don't like the way you did that. You were Reggie Jackson, bro.
You were Reggie Jackson.
That's how I feel about Reggie Jackson, bro. I don't like that you did that.
Hey, man, it wasn't no beast.
Your boy Rubio, he peacing it up.
Everybody kept tagging us.
I was like, damn, Jeff, get him on a pod.
Oh, he retired.
Yeah, he stepped down.
Shout out to him, man.
Good luck to him.
Oh, yeah.
Shout out to him.
Great career.

Me?
And Marquette.
And Marquette?
Outside, I know the Foy experience.
Yeah, right.
Man, I mean, every night, though.
Biggie's was real, dude.
That was the real Biggie.
That UConn was Rudy Gay.
Oh, shit, you did play Biggie.
That was Hilton Armstrong and all them.
Big Hilton.
Fucking Hilton Armstrong.
Cincinnati had Eric Hicks, De Downey James White dude jumping from the
free throw line
and all that
yeah
Knuckles wasn't there yet
was he
he played against
Marcus Williams
yeah
Knuckles was there
Marcus Williams was there
he played Devante
who else
Deontay Vaughn
what the fuck is
Deontay Vaughn
Deontay Vaughn
I'm tripping
I'm tripping on
on the big team
we already talked about
Nova
Syracuse had
who do you say Devendorf and all them.
Paul Harris.
Louisville.
We saw Taekwondo.
Francisco.
Garcia.
Shots of the Lopes.
Don't say Eggersauce on this podcast.
No, I'm fucking with Eggers.
Louisville was probably the weakest team.
We had Earl Clark. Earl Clark. They had T. Will. Nah, I'm fucking with Edgar. Louisville was probably the weakest team in the Big East back then.
We had Earl Clark then.
Earl Clark.
They had T. Will.
Yeah, that was nice.
Free T. Will.
Nah, that was hard.
I'm hating.
I'm hating.
Damn, Paul,
if y'all did play...
It might have been Georgetown.
It might have been Georgetown.
Jeff Green.
I was going to say Jeff Green.
Big East was nasty.
Jeff Green, Roy Hibbert.
Damn, I forgot
they was there at the same time.
Did you have to guard Jeff
In that game
DeJuan Blair
Yeah that's what matters
That's Pitt
Pitt was nasty
No kneecaps
DeJuan
That note
Sam Young
Sam Young
Ugly shot
Faking to leave
But that was
He was jumping for it though
Sam Young
I do remember him
He was a pacer
That was a wing
Sam Young
That was a wing
I seen Sam Young
In a draft
Shout out to Uncle Jeff
Cook Niggas bro I'm talking about We in a draft workout. Shout out to Uncle Jeff.
Cook.
Niggas, bro.
I'm talking about we had a draft workout.
It was my first draft workout.
They had us work out first
and he came the next one.
You know,
you just sit there and watch.
Yeah.
I swear to God,
he had to score 17 times first.
Sam Young?
Yeah, I was like,
he was like that, dog.
Man, who is this nigga?
I thought that nigga
was 35, nigga,
when he was in college.
He's definitely Morgan Freeman.
We had the same age
and he could get to it, bro.
Nah, for real.
He could get to it.
That's a hard question
for you to answer, bro.
We just listed 30 niggas.
That was cold.
I forgot you played
against that UConn
because nigga,
what's my other,
AJ Price.
AJ Price was there.
Adrian,
Adrian,
Jeff Adrian. Yo, Adrian, Jeff Adrian.
Yo,
they had a wit.
Was Marcus Williams
still there?
Yeah.
Remember the team,
the Johnny Flynn team
that played against
Louis,
or UConn in the guard
for like seven overtime?
Damn,
what was the light-skinned
nigga on that team
that played with
Johnny Flynn?
No,
it was Andy Robbins,
my father.
Y'all remember
Scotty Reynolds?
Hell yeah.
Bill and I were
lessons.
Come on,
we talking to this already. Yeah. Yeah, no, we know our whole shit Scotty Reynolds? Hell yeah. Bill and I were legends. Come on, man. You talking to this artist?
Yeah.
Yeah, no, we know our whole shit, bro.
That's it.
So I would say Rudy or Jeff.
No, that's a tough matchup.
Damn, you had a tough matchup.
Yeah, we got to piggyback on that.
You know what I'm saying?
You've been in the league a long time.
What's your hardest league matchup?
Who was the person that gave you, like, damn, I got to get ready because shit might get spooky?
Man, so R.P., I'm going to say the Mamba.
First.
Saw him.
That shit, I mean, you look back at that shit now and you're like, I really guarded him.
You know, I really guarded him.
But then I also, I won nights.
You know what I mean?
Like, he won nights, but I also won nights, too.
Damn.
And earned that respect from him.
Joe Johnson.
Nasty.
Joe.
Nasty.
ISO Joe.
ISO.
Shout out.
He was too big for you, Paul.
Joe Johnson.
Joe Johnson.
That was crazy.
Yeah, that was crazy.
I tried to act like this.
That was so hard.
You, like like emphasized it.
Yeah.
Cargo on the nigga 6'8", 245.
That nigga damn near built
like LeBron, bro.
And then I'm trying to think
of a little guard.
Damn.
You was in the West too. His rookie year. Damn. Shit. He was in the West, too.
Well, shit,
his rookie year,
he was...
Monte.
Monte Ellis was next.
This is Seppi Bullitt.
Quick Monte.
Monte going right.
All right.
He's going right.
And you got to cut it off.
Flash D-Wade
was tough, too, though.
Yeah.
When he was Flash.
Yeah.
But how is that, though?
Like, yo,
rookie year,
you know,
you had an unconventional
way into the league.
You have a good career,
great career at Marquette.
You go undrafted.
Yeah.
What's that process like?
You know,
going through the whole draft process.
What was that like?
I was pissed.
Honestly.
Like I did like 13,
14 workouts.
Okay.
And then worked out with,
with Steph. You know, we had the same, remember Jack McClend And then worked out with Steph.
You know, we had Samuel.
Remember Jack McClendon?
Mm-hmm.
Shout out to Jack.
Jack, Samuel.
We all, you know, just competing all the time.
And felt great.
Didn't lose a workout.
You know, I know a lot of motherfuckers be saying,
like, one-on-one, two-on-one.
You know how the workouts go.
I didn't lose a competition workout.
So I'm seeing guys like, you know, and shout out to that great career, Danny Green.
You know, remember Jonas Jarebko.
Damn.
Sam Young.
And again, all these guys that are on, like in that same, DeJuan Summers.
Georgetown.
Yep.
So like, I see them get drafted.
And I'm like, damn.
I was cooking.
You know, I did everything I was supposed to.
I did what I was supposed to do in college.
I did what I was supposed to do in these workouts.
And I remember my agent brought it to me.
He said, we got three options.
He said, we got a job offer for you in Turkey for $160,000 I don't remember
what the other one was
but that was like
$140,000
he said
or Utah called
and they
want you to come
into
their summer league
and
fight for a spot
so I was like
I didn't understand
at that time
that
if you didn't get
drafted
if you were drafted in the second round you still had to make the team I didn't understand at that time that if you didn't get drafted, if you were drafted in the second round, you still had to make the team.
I didn't know that.
So I was like, okay, what do I have to do?
He was like, Utah is in a situation where, you know, that was Matt Harper.
You know, like he's probably going to retire.
You know, they drafted a big Goran Sutan at the time.
And they were like, they'd like you though.
So you can go in and show that you belong.
Like you can go take that spot.
So I was like, okay, say less.
So I was in Utah like August.
Damn.
Early.
That's before the league started in October.
Yeah.
I was in Utah in August.
Like as soon as I was done with school, I was out there.
I was in hotels, stayed up there.
All I did was went to the gym, came back to the hotel, sat up and laid
until it was time to go back over and over and over.
It was like a grind off the dribble.
Just working, just going, going, going.
And then Summer League started.
I wanted to already be acclimated to the altitude.
Had a Summer League in Orlando.
Didn't go that great.
Pressing. You know, want to do all
the things that they say you can't do. It's pressing.
Then I said, damn, you know what?
Fuck it. Damn if you do, damn if you don't
be yourself. Have a great game. Roll my ankle.
Sacramento
called, said they want you in summer league
in Vegas. I was like,
shit, that's a blessing. Cool.
Go out to summer league with Sacramento. I was like, shit, that's a blessing. Cool. Go out to summer league with Sacramento.
I take that same mentality.
Like, damn if you do, damn if you don't.
Play great.
Sacramento.
Utah calls again.
Says, we want you to come back to training camp.
And I was like, all right.
This is the second time they done doubled down.
They fucking with me.
I got to go get this.
Yeah.
You know?
Like, I got to go get this.
So then I'm out there.
I don't remember going home. I don't remember going home. I don't remember sleeping. I don't go get this. Yeah. You know, like, I got to go get this. So then I'm out there. I don't remember going home.
I don't remember going home.
I don't remember sleeping.
I don't remember doing nothing.
It was just being.
Get it.
And that was it.
And that's crazy because, like, you think about it now,
even second round picks or even some of them,
I'm not trying to forget, they coming in,
they got straight to training camp down there.
Yeah.
You had to fight to get to training camp.
Yeah.
I had to get to training camp.
And then the other crazy thing is,
so when I was on the roster or whatever,
like, I had to check out of the hotel
every single night we went on the road.
Yeah.
I had to take my luggage.
I only had two suitcases.
I had to take it with me.
Everything with you.
Take everything with you.
Damn.
Because up until January 10th,
I could have been cut.
Yeah.
Damn.
So I'm checking out every single time.
It's like every game every practice
practice is my game
facts
so how you go from
that to starting
like
bro
Jerry Sloan
Jerry Sloan
but that's what I love about
he give people opportunity
yup
yeah
shout out to Andre Owens
yeah
like honestly
I remember I was in the gym
one time on an off day
and Sloan came in and and he had a smile.
Like, he just, I don't know if y'all ever liked Sloan,
but, like, he like, how you doing, son?
I'm like, I'm good, coach.
He's like, go home.
I'm like, you know, I'm a rookie.
I'm like, I ain't going home.
I got to be here.
He's like, go home.
I was like, okay.
Go back to the house and I'm just like, damn.
I don't know what to do.
You know? And I think he just
saw that and then they ended up
trading my guy, Ronnie Brewer.
That shit broke my heart when that happened.
Traded him and then
it was just opportunity.
Like, it was just
go. And it was just like, that was just the mentality.
You just got to keep going.
Yeah, and that's something you can speak to, shit.
You never know when your moment happened.
But when it happens, shit, all that other shit that happened before,
don't matter.
You really got to go play.
You got to go prove yourself.
You really get one opportunity in the league.
They're like, everybody get that one moment,
and you got to, like, seize that moment.
But if you don't, that's when you get lost in the sauce.
Like, I seen a lot of people that go out there, you know, somebody get hurt.
Yeah.
They going to be out two or three games.
And them two or three games could be your moment to show, like, I'm ready.
And then you can maybe crack the rotation.
Or another team could see it, and that's something they might pick you up in the summer for your agency.
And that's kind of what happened to me, really.
With Kirk getting hurt in the playoffs. Mm-hmm. Got an opportunity to play. I to me, really. With Kirk getting hurt in the playoffs.
Got an opportunity to play.
I remember that.
Yeah.
Threw your ass in the fire.
Fire.
But that's you.
He started.
In the West, though.
He was in the West.
Wing in the West.
Hey, Mello.
Mello.
In the playoffs.
In the Mello.
Come on.
Yeah.
That's tough.
But that's the thing, though,
is like,
you like never took
you never blamed nobody else
yeah
you know what I mean
it's just like
some
it's harder to digest
like it is what it is
sometimes
but I just gotta keep doing my job
regardless
and be ready
cause at some point
82 game season
is too long
somebody gonna get
you know
somebody's gonna have an opportunity
life too long
like
something's gonna happen
like it's just if you mentally prepared that I did what I'm supposed to do this day,
then I'm ready for whatever happens.
That's a fact.
That's crazy.
That's crazy.

Nick Shook, Jordan Rodrigue from The Athletic,
and of course, Colleen Wolfe.
This is their window right now.
This is their Super Bowl window.
Why would they trade him away?
Because he would be a pivotal part of them winning that Super Bowl.
I don't know why, Colleen.

And you got the matchup against Melo.
We got one of my co-hosts, man.
They think Melo is his favorite player.
She's a Jersey somewhere around here
Mello
talk about it Wes
I'm over here chilling
I'm loving your stories bro
I used to be talking shit
but
we talking about Mello now
so I gotta relax a little
Mello's tough bro
Mello is one of the
best
that's your toughest matchup Wes
I can't say that
it is
I mean
I got
I got
I got
Prime KD I don't give a fuck I, it is. You know, I mean, I got Prine, KD.
I don't give a fuck about KD.
I had James.
James who?
James Harden.
Don't do that.
Harden.
Yeah, I respect him.
But Melo, though, like, he's, that's what he do.
He score.
He got you off the first step, or did he put you in a blender on the block?
Hey, me and Melo fought, bro.
He might have got the best of me, but I won matchups too.
Me and Mello competed.
Me and Mello competed, bro.
That's one thing you can say.
Your favorite player
respects me.
Oh, for sure.
For sure.
I know you had to get
somebody to cook it, though.
Oh, for sure.
I remember in the garden
where he had 50.
I was with Portland.
Yeah, yeah.
He had 50.
I don't know. He might have hit He had 50. I don't know.
He might have hit two threes.
Damn.
You know how when you catch it,
he start,
he back jab and look down.
Yeah, yeah.
It's already up.
He scored 50 off no threes too before.
Was it?
He got another game.
Yeah, he do.
Yeah.
He do.
That's like saying,
you know what I'm saying now?
Like he really be dropping 40 balls
and maybe shoot two threes.
Yeah, he different.
All right, so before we move on, how many of that 50 was on you i probably had like 17. you're a real bro
i probably had like 17 huh hey but i ain't go back i ain't gonna you score you you have to do it
again no you keep going like that's how it's gonna be i respected you because you played the and you
had a burner too well you got it you're still. I respected you because you played D and you had a fucking burner too. Well, you got a burner. You still in the league,
but yeah.
You started that shit.
All that arrow shit.
Oh, you don't need
your credit for that shit.
You need your credit.
Hey, you need,
hey, 2K need to pay you extra.
Nah, nigga, we tapped in.
I got low-key hot
when I saw 2K.
Hey, it was in 2K.
I said, damn.
You started that shit.
Nah.
I remember the first time
I seen you do it,
I said, that shit hard.
I said, it's really in 2K. Yeah, they need that. You need some royalty started that shit Nah I remember the first time I seen you do that I said that shit hard 6 million 2k Yeah
You need some royalty
That shit
Niggas oh
But it be like that
It's cool
It's cool
They know
Real ones know
That's all
That's enough of me
Yeah I was like
Damn that shit tough
You know what's scary
We just talking about
Mellow
But nowadays
When you say mellow
You never gotta clarify
With the young kids
And I don't like it Oh like mellow ball Yeah Depending on the age though Nah it's you say mellow you never gotta clarify with the young kids and I don't like it
oh like mellow ball
yeah
depending on the age though
nah it's only one mellow
it's mellow
mellow
but he love mellow
yeah
yeah
he love mellow
he love mellow
they ain't mellow
next time you in the factory
when you say mellow
they gonna be like
the light skin killer
they ain't talking about
the real one
that's crazy
your kids on your team
fuck around
say mellow better than Carmelo.
They might say some stupid shit.
They might.
That's the problem.
That's why we ain't win a goddamn game.
What you do when they say something like that?
Probably start benching these.
You got the chance to play with D. Will.
I mean, a lot of people of people understand how cold he was
like you know
younger guys
they don't understand bro
he was different
it was D. Will
or CP3
that was an argument
for a long time here bro
he got to play
with D. Will
that is
yeah
prom
he can control the game
that was one thing
like he really understood
like
I'm gonna go get this bucket
or I see where the I see what the defense is doing, and I'm going to get us a bucket.
That's a fact.
Like, he had that.
And then he had the matchups that he took personal.
That's when it was fun.
He used to cook.
He took that personal.
He used to cook.
Nash took that personal.
J. Kidd took that personal.
If anybody, them top five PGs, like, I know he going to show up tonight.
He used to cook.
That right to left, back to the left to right.
Let's just shoot the ball.
I ain't going to lie, though.
I love D. Will.
D. Will my guy.
If you ever see it, you can text me about it.
That's cool.
He ain't going to see Johnny Flynn, though.
Oh, Johnny Flynn used to cook him?
Johnny Flynn.
Minnesota days? We did not beat them. Damn. We couldn't beat them, bro. see Johnny Flynn, though. Oh, Johnny Flynn's the cookie? Johnny Flynn, yeah. Minnesota Names?
We did not beat them.
Damn.
We couldn't beat them, bro.
Johnny was nasty, though.
That's all I'm about to say.
With Wesley Johnson and that Wolves team, though.
How the fuck y'all ain't beat them?
We couldn't beat them, bro.
They was a bad team.
Pekovic.
He was strong as shit.
He was strong as shit.
K-Love was over there.
That was my favorite 2K team.
Them niggas was cold on 2K
When did they get Kevin Martin?
They had K-Mart
That front part was nasty with them two
That's probably why I didn't win
I couldn't get a fucking rebound
Bro, we had Boozer
We had Balls
Them two down there
Shit, they was both double doubles
Y'all hear me say
Them niggas was still a little bit
They had Booze, Millsap
Millsap was probably
eight, seven rebounds a game.
Shit.
That's what he do was rebound.
That nigga Kevin Love
was getting 17 rebounds.
I don't respect Paul Millsap.
Oh, yeah.
We know Paul Millsap.
If Melo caught a body on him,
you were probably the taker.
Hey, I saw that.
Off the one step.
He turned it over, too.
He threw it to him.
I was like,
I was on the back.
I was on the end.
I know exactly where I was, too. I checked in that him. I was like, I was on the back. I was on the end. I know exactly where I was, too.
I checked in that game in the third quarter.
We were on that for playoffs.
I was watching that.
I said, oh, my God.
This is the NBA.
That was my first NBA game, bro.
Damn.
That was my first game.
Damn.
I remember that.
And Melo dunked the hell out of Sapp.
I'm like, damn.
Clip that up, Luis. It was so effortless, though. It was just like of Sapp. I'm like, damn. Hey, clip that up, Luis.
It was so effortless though.
It was just like, okay.
I was like, oh shit.
Yeah, because he thought
he was going to travel.
Yep.
He was trying to outlay
and Melo kind of jumped it.
I'm like, Sapp, no.
Now you're on a poster forever.
And that's when he was saying
I'm back.
He was saying
because he was going
through all that scrutiny
or whatever
that summary for.
He was on a mission.
Facts.
So playing with D. Will, though, did you just have to spot up and be ready to shoot?
That's it.
That's it.
And I couldn't even shoot.
That's the thing.
Like, I was a slasher, energy, all that kind of stuff.
So, like, honestly, it wasn't until Jeff Hornacek.
Because I had Kyle Corver
was on that team
so
they would sub me
so when I started playing
I was playing
because I was guarding
I was energy
all that kind of stuff
but then like
Kobe and all them guys
they would guard me
obviously
and sag off
because they weren't
worried about me shooting
so then that's when
they would sub
put Kyle in
so he was more of an
offensive threat
so Hornacek's like
you want to stop coming out the
game? I was like,
hell yeah. He's like, you got
another round to shoot. I said, alright,
let's do it. So every morning,
I'm shooting on the gun with Jeff Hornacek.
Every single morning. Never beat him.
Never beat him.
But then,
the game start coming around, start feeling confident,
I'm wide open,
catch it,
boom,
hit one,
boom,
hit another one.
Now they got to close out to me,
now I can start doing what I want to do.
Yeah.
Cut and slash
and all that stuff
and then now,
like you said,
like,
that's how I started starting
was just like
adding stuff to the game
but,
you know,
I had to have someone
that saw it for me too
so,
shout out to Jeff Hornacek,
I tell him that
every time I see him.
For sure, man.
Obviously, that shit working is crazy.
Like, this even happened because last episode,
we mentioned you because we referenced you.
It was just like, if you're not a lottery pick,
you damn near better off being in a situation where you could be second round or undrafted
because now, like for you and your situation,
you grinded to a point to where you got paid quicker
than everybody else in your draft class.
Yeah.
Facts.
I was one of those people in that draft class. Yeah. Facts. I was one of those people
in that draft class.
I was like,
what the fuck?
Right to it.
Oh, man.
He went to Dallas
after that, didn't he?
No, Portland.
He went to Portland.
Portland.
Yeah.
Portland, that's when
he really started
shooting that motherfucker.
That's when, oh.
I'm like,
he letting it fly.
Hey, for real, bro.
Y'all was shooting threes.
You and Nico?
The two?
Bro, y'all was letting them threes fly.
Let them go.
And then got Dame.
Yeah.
Dog.
I'm still mad at y'all, though.
Y'all ended Kyle's streak.
We played y'all in Portland.
I took that person.
Bro, these niggas.
They was in all out.
He was in all out denial on Kyle.
I was all day.
I was like, what is he doing?
I went 100%.
You love Kyle Farmer? Yeah. You love, bro. I 100% took that. And Kyle's my guy out denial on Kyle. I was all day. I was like, what is he doing? I went 100%. You love, bro.
I went 100% to him.
And Kyle's my guy.
I love Kyle.
Our kids play together and all that stuff.
I took that personal, though.
He's like, he's not getting no through this.
But look, though, as a rookie one time, he had me pick one of his suitcases up one time.
I didn't really feel like I had to.
I should have.
But I did it anyway.
So, like, I swear.
I told you.
Like Randy Floyd.
He marked that down.
I respect that, baby.
Clip that up.
I love Kyle.
I'm like, hey, not tonight, though.
Hey, you NBA niggas are the pettiest people on earth.
He real petty for that, man.
Kyle had a three-goal.
They beating our ass. So, the rest of the game, we like, we got to get Kyle a three. We man. Kyle had a three goal. I know. The whole game, they beating our ass.
So the rest of the game,
we like,
we got to get Kyle a three.
We got to get Kyle a three.
No.
Bro, they in all out denial.
That was not happening.
They up 20.
He not letting me get it.
I'm like,
I know this streak
ain't about to end right here.
I told Nick,
I said,
Nick,
if he gets a three on you,
I'm whooping your ass.
Bro,
they was in all out denial.
I don't remember
who our coach was at the time.
I said,
I'm playing every minute he plays.
Bro,
he was in all out denial.
That's funny. He was like, I was like, not the time. I said, I'm playing every minute he plays. Bro, he was an all-out guy. That's funny.
He was like, respect, Wes.
Not tonight.
I'm like, I'm doing everything to try to get him a three.
Bro, y'all, that man's screams was illegal as hell.
It didn't matter.
Damn, before Draymond.
It didn't matter.
Facts.
I don't remember who y'all had.
Y'all didn't have Zaza, was it?
Yeah, nah.
We had, shit, I don't remember who was on that team.
How many years did you spend in Portland? We was a four-five. Yeah, five. nah, we had, shit, I don't remember who was on that team. How many years
did you spend in Portland?
We was a four, five.
Yeah, five.
Okay, you had a good stint there.
It was a great time, too.
Them fans was great.
Yeah, in fact,
I had a great home court event.
It was,
it didn't matter who we played,
didn't matter what our record was,
didn't matter what
the other team record was,
other than the Lakers.
But they be doing that everywhere.
Yeah.
You know, but still,
Portland wasn't, like, it was dope.
Like, those fans.
You know what I'm saying?
You've been to a couple different places.
What's your favorite city you played in so far?
Is it Portland?
I mean, for straight basketball, yeah.
All right, now fuck basketball.
What city was cracking?
What city was cracking?
I mean, Dallas.
I was going to say Dallas.
I was going to make the whole month.
Shout out to Zion.
I love Dallas.
Shout out to my boy Z.
Keep it all cool, fellas.
That's one of my favorite clips
when them three niggas at media day,
he was like, Dallas.
I knew y'all was gonna say that too
Cause y'all was just gonna
Break down the list of teams
I played on
It was like alright
Oh yeah
Yeah we know
Nah Dallas is fine
I tried to throw it out there early
But you know
Y'all caught it
This one I knew he was real
So you know me
I'm petty
I was trying to like
Talk shit
Not talk shit
But trying to like
Fuck with them in the game
And I went up to him one day
and this is when Luca,
this is Luca first year.
I'll never forget.
I walked up to Wes.
I'm like,
man,
y'all gonna let the white dude
get the ball the whole game?
That's crazy.
He looked me dead in my face.
He said,
that motherfucker cold.
He didn't say nothing else.
I was,
I said,
oh shit.
I was trying to start some shit like,
man,
I know you ain't gonna let the white boy
get the ball the whole game.
Like, that was going to bother me.
He looked at me like, that motherfucker cold.
I said, oh, he must be nice.
Next thing I knew, I said, oh, let me shut the fuck up.
He different.
I'll never forget that, bro.
I was like, I'm not going to say that to him.
Maybe he was trying to get the ball or some shit.
Hell no, he cold.
maybe he was trying to get the ball
or some shit.
Hell no.
Hell no, he coached.
So he came,
as soon as he came in
to practice and shit,
you kind of got to feel like,
yeah, he the one.
Yeah.
You know how to do that.
It was quick.
I mean, he,
I forgot what it was.
We were probably
just playing pickup.
And I remember
I was on the right corner.
I was on this side.
He comes down.
Bop, bop, whatever.
Gets to the right,
gets to the faint, like,
attacks like the 45 or whatever. My man helps
a little bit. He at no point
do we make eye contact.
Like, at no point in the possession, he just
throws it over his head, straight to me.
I'm like, okay. Yeah, he different.
He doing that stuff. You know, this was before
he played an NBA game. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Alright, he see the court. Yeah, he different.
So. That's why you talking
to this goofy ass man
you know me
I'm
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me
you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me you know me running them off. He got a long list of names for y'all.
IEPT.
Here you go, man.
IEP is crazy.
Nah, but that's why I wanted to ask you too.
Like, Luka playing with Luka.
That motherfucker
is so big and slow, bro.
I don't know how he be
getting that shit off.
Do you know the trick?
What's the trick to his game?
I mean, one, he's got his brakes.
He's like James.
He's like James where he can stop on the dime, change direction.
His handle, you're not taking it from him.
No.
One, he ain't been 11.
He carrying.
One.
But two, it's how the game go now.
He know how to play.
He's not like those 6'8, 6'9 guys
that want to play 6'2
he's going to play 6'8
with a 6'2 skill set
so
that's a great way
to look at it
that's a great way to
you got a future man
he's going to be on TV
nah bro
I mean
you got to ask
the people that play
with Grave
you got to ask
because they like
right there with him
every day
you know what I'm saying
and he understands
situations he's like I got a little guard know what I'm saying and he understands situations
he's like
I got a little guard
right here
I'ma play post up game
one cause I got a
post up game
and then two like
I know that's the move
like alright I got
a big up here
okay I can break him down
you know like he
and then he know
how to get fouled
too so
like
thinking about
all the elite point guards
you play with
I know it's a tough
thing to do but cause you who to do because you rank them.
Like with Dame, D-Will, Luka, Trey right now.
You know who I'm going to throw in there that people ain't going to remember?
You will.
Andre Miller.
Cold.
I'm putting Andre Miller up there, bro.
He understood the game.
He understood the game.
I didn't think it was cold.
With the high-pitched voice too. Hey, man. He would break the game. He understood the game. I didn't think it was cold. With a high-pitched voice, too.
Hey, man.
Hey, man.
He would break the game.
Now, he like, one time, he was like, hey.
Hey, Wes, I know you ain't got the ball in a minute,
but we got to throw the ball to LaMarcus Aldridge.
So we going to throw it to him, but the next time when you cut
underneath the basket, I'm just going to throw it.
Just be ready.
That's it. Like, he would read the situation. Like, he know, the basket I'm just gonna throw it just be ready that shit like he would read
the situation
like he know like
I'm not happy right now
and I go
you know like
I'm guarding
I'm dogging the best player
on it
like damn
I ain't got a touch
like he be like
hey look
I need him to keep dogging
yeah
get that man a bug
I need him
I need him to keep dogging
I need him to stay engaged
so he's like look
we been shooting a lot of threes
we been jacking the ball up
we need to feed big fella
that's our bread and butter
but like after that
look
I'm just gonna give you a touch
that's real
so like
he be up there
I'll say D. Will
was up there
yeah I mean
D. Will
Andre
Dame
Luca
and Trey
I mean Trey
that boy can pass the ball
he can pass
oh my god he can see that floor for being 4'7 he got out of the game Luka and Trey. I mean, Trey, that boy can pass the ball. He can pass like Luka.
He can see that floor.
For being 4'7"? He's middle as shit.
I remember I was on the court
at the same time.
I was like, damn,
that's the smallest backcourt.
I'm 6'1", he's 6'0".
He can pass the ball, though.
Like, I think him and Luka
might be one of the more even trades
I've ever seen in the NBA.
Like, for what they do for their team.
Like, talent-wise, skill-set-wise.
And I hate when people say it's Luka because they feel like Luka's better.
I'm like, I do know that Trae Young did go to Eastern Conference Finals.
Like, that actually happened.
Right.
The best player on the team.
Eastern Conference Finals, Western Conference Finals.
Like, comparable points.
Like, obviously, different situations.
But, I mean. even track yeah I don't know the breakdown between who's won more
who's lost more but I got it I think people take a look up more be just
because of he rebounds better I mean he's saying. That's why niggas is giving him the nod, though. But I mean, yeah.
But you got... That's why motherfuckers is doing that.
I'm giving Luka the nod, too.
Yeah, motherfuckers is giving him the nod.
It's understandable.
And respectfully, too.
Y'all both been there.
Atlanta is a different market.
For sure.
If Trae Young would be on TV more,
there would be different opinions about that.
If Trae Young was in New York...
Come on, bro.
I agree.
I mean, yeah, market definitely plays a role
for sure
you know
cause Trey nasty
that nigga cold
he be having a great year
like down years for Trey
is 24 and
11
you also get
like this
like that's the thing
is like
I'm seeing like
honestly with this whole team
like there's just so much
there's so much there
like we just gotta continue
to
you know
those habits of winning
yeah you know how that should be hard like because the hardest part about developing habits of
winning is like you're not gonna win every time you try and develop them have that's a fuck damn
you know every time you try like i did everything right everything i was supposed to do and lost
loss you know what i'm saying that's life too so it's like how do you continue to do that shit
over and over and over
and that's the part
where it's like
everybody's taking strides
and that's like
I'm excited as shit
like I know
we was talking about
like Trey and Luke
and all that shit
but like
I'm excited about
like this team
and everything
you know
it's facts man
Leonard got a special
place in my heart
they always got
I'm always a Hawks fan
from afar
and I used to work
for them so
on and off the court
you got a
you got a
you got a little
Marcus Aldridge story
for us bro
LA
that's a big name
we can't let go
without you know
speaking on for a few seconds
why what's that about
I just feel like
he's probably
you know
shout out to all the bigs
you play with
but he probably the best
yeah at the four You know, shout out to all the bigs you play with, but he probably the best.
Yeah.
I don't know, bro.
I play with Giannis, bro.
Yeah, I do.
He ain't really a big, bro.
What are we calling him now?
A fucking animal.
Giannis Hooper. I'm going to pay 100% respect to L.A.
because I love L.A.
For sure.
Giannis Hoop
like he smoked
turbo blunts though bro
like that
that's just
he's different
yeah
he's different
he's different
he smoked
them trick nutty blunts
I'm talking like
a real
like a big
post player
yeah
Giannis is a cheat code
yeah okay
so we talking about
your last of the dying breed of the traditional.
The power forwards.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Cause I saw Dirk on his,
on the,
on the back end.
But even though it was flashes of that,
that shit,
like Dirk training,
bro.
Like they know one love basketball more than him.
That was crazy.
But LA.
Yeah.
Cause he could go get you a bucket.
Even when you knew he was going to do.
Yeah.
He going middle.
He going middle.
He going to that. Or a turnaround going middle He going to that Or a block
Turn around fade
He going to that block
He bump
Bump
Bump
Bump fade
Or his bump
Oh you too light
I'm going all the way to the middle
That boy did not use his left hand
At all
Ever bro
That shit is crazy
And it activate the midi
And that's what's so hard
Niggas in the league
Know what you gonna do
You're not even about to use both
But you can't fucking stop me, bro.
I'm that good.
I'm that nice.
He didn't seem like he was just that athletic.
But he turning on when he needed to.
He was a dog, though.
He was going to go get it.
He always played with an edge and a chip.
And that's why I gravitated towards him.
And I think that we had a chemistry, too.
He was a big reason why I got all them threes
because I was always
post feeding.
I'm like,
I post feed.
They go double.
I'm like,
come here.
Come on.
Come on.
Let me shoot you.
I love y'all Portland team,
bro.
When y'all got Dame,
I say yeah.
Oh,
we was cold at 2K.
What?
Oh,
yeah,
y'all was crazy.
We were cold at 2K.
Y'all was crazy.
I loved y'all team,
bro.
We was cold at 2K.
I was subbing out the big. I was putting my, I was putting LA at the five and putting Baton at 2K. Y'all was crazy. I loved that team, bro. We was cold at 2K. I was subbing out the big.
I was putting my,
I was putting LA at the five
and putting Batun at the four.
Oh my God.
Batun underrated too.
Yeah, he was.
He used to strap niggas up,
I don't know what's wrong with you.
No, you are.
That's just who talk, y'all.
Strap up.
Wear your condoms,
but I ain't talking about that, y'all.
If you want to.
Strap up.
He's going to say it
if you want to.
Respect. We 520 in a day. Yeah. If you want to. Sure. We're going to say if you want to. Respect.
We're 520 in a day.
Yeah.
That was really good.
But I'm just saying,
Niggas with Tone
used to really, like,
lock niggas up.
They used to do.
The key about why
we were good with that team
is because, like,
Nick allowed Dane
to be naturally what he is,
which was a shooting guard
to take him off the ball.
Because Nick, like,
he would score
if he wanted to. But, like, he wanted to facilitate ball. Because Nick, like, he would score if he wanted to.
He was handling the ball.
But, like, he wanted to facilitate.
Yeah.
So, like, that allowed Dan
to cut off screens,
me cut off flares,
and, you know, Nick trying
to throw them lobs.
Nick won the games of, like,
8-8-8-8-8-8.
Yeah.
That's what he wanted to do.
Bro, he was like the black
Hedo Turkoglu.
Like, the way that he facilitated
the offense and shit
and could still shoot
and do everything, everything bro it was perfect
yeah he run that
same fucking
he got to it though
yeah he run that
I'm just
I'm missing
he was right
so disrespect
Nico was coming
off that
fucking high pick and roll
chin action
whatever y'all called it
going right
and he was looking
for people
I'm like man
if y'all don't let
this motherfucker
go left one time
you going right
not at all
nah they was fired then y'all used to run that flare action I hate oh yeah the right not at all nah they was fired up
then y'all used to run that
flair action
I hate
oh yeah
chest action
yeah I remember they was trying to
what's that play
it's like a flair
flair screen
coming off a pin down
like I would run off a pin down
from somebody
pass it back to Dame
then LA was flair
over the top
I would flair over the top
you could throw it over
or whatever
I used to be
y'all used to have my nigga in the over or whatever. I used to be... Yeah, I used to have my nigga
in the blender.
Man, what?
Blender.
I used to be like,
listen,
we gonna switch it.
Then I'll fuck up.
Man, they had too much
going on with that play.
Oh, yeah.
I hated that play, bro.
Damn.
Oh, yeah.
We was flying around.
Yeah.
I fucked with that team.
Damn.
That's crazy.
So, you know what I'm saying?
You said Dallas, you know what I'm saying? You fucked with that. The lifestyle was there. You know what I'm saying? You said Dallas, you know what I'm saying?
You fucked with that.
The lifestyle was there.
You know what I'm saying?
You played in L.A.
How was that?
I always wonder how it is to play in Los Angeles.
Because I feel like it's a lot of pressure just to play for the Lakers.
That was COVID year, though.
So, it was completely different.
Like, there weren't even fans and nothing like that.
So, it was just kind of like...
Open gym.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was open gym.
So, like, I mean, it was just show up like open jam. Yeah, it was open gym. So like I mean it was just show up
Work when you could cuz you know, you had to swab and all that kind of stuff like crazy it wasn't I
Ain't even really got nothing for you like
Like, you know, it was cool like playing with Brian like, you know, I got a lot of respect for him and you know
all those guys
Keith, you know, all those guys. Keith, you know, Keith, one of the guys that really helped me, you know, through that.
Just like.
Twin.
Yeah.
Just like, you know, staying with it, you know.
But like seeing Bron's level of like attention to detail and stuff like that was pretty impressive.
You know, he's doing what he's doing for a reason.
It ain't my mistake.
Like, he, first one, taped up.
You know, first one, ice bags on already, you know, ready engaged,
ready for film and all that kind of stuff.
Like, he really cared about basketball.
And so, like, that kind of environment is cool.
For someone that
feels that same way.
If you ain't cut with that
cloth, there's a different story
for you. Yeah, I probably wouldn't have made it in there.
LA, COVID year,
Jeff Teague,
parties. Yeah, I would have had COVID.
I would have had COVID. y'all be talking about me
look at this nigga
playing with a serious matter
I played in Boston
I was in Boston that year
that's why he called COVID
cause he had a party
he got a real COVID story
that is a fact
shout out to the birthday party
that is a fact I did have the birthday party that is a fact
I didn't have a birthday party
he got COVID
fuck you
nah but Wes
man we appreciate you
for coming on bro
and sharing your stories
and shit man
for sure
for sure
appreciate you
I appreciate y'all
I appreciate y'all
this shit was fun
I'm glad y'all had me
for sure
good luck the rest of the season
man
unless y'all play the Pacers
you know what I'm saying
I hope you kill
but I hope y'all don't win
if y'all play us
but everybody else I hope y'all go crazy Pacers, you know what I'm saying? I hope you kill, but I hope y'all don't win if y'all play us.
Everybody else, I hope y'all go crazy.
