The Patriots have hired Mike Brable as the next head coach. Robert Kraft will replace one of his former players with another and hopes to improve the results. Vrabel is the first coach since 1950 to directly succeed another coach where both played together in the NFL as teammates since Forrest Gregg took over for Bart Starr as the Packers head coach in 1984.
Starting point is 00:03:18 There might be a possibility to bring Josh McDaniels back as offensive coordinator. Considering that Josh, before we talk about Mike, Brable, it seems to me the only place Josh McDaniels can have success is in New England. Wait a minute, whoa, stop right there. The only place Josh McDaniels can have success is in New England when he has Tom Brady at the helm.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Well, he did go to the playoff when he had a Mac Jones. Remember, Mac Jones rookie year, he had Mac, they went 10 and 6. Then he goes to, remember he goes to the Raiders, he gets the Raiders job. Coach Belichick had this brilliant idea that, I think Bill O'Brien was the coach for one year and then Bill O'Brien leaves and then he has two of his slappy homies coming in there. Matt Patricia and Joe Judge. Guys that have never called an offensive play in all their life. One is a special teams coach, the other is a DC and you know what? Our first round draft pick as a quarterback that made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, that ended up taking us to the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:04:27 we want to have two guys in his ear that's never ever called an offensive play. Yeah. What do you think about this? For me, I'm disappointed that Mr. Kraft did not give Gerard Mayo more time. It'd be interesting to see if Vrabel struggles and not have a great record.
Starting point is 00:04:48 The likelihood of him moving on with Vrabel after a year is not very likely. No, everybody else that Mr. Craft has had, not granted he had coach Belichick from 2000 until until 2023. Right. Back to 24. But Coach Belichick was five and 11. He got another he got a great spirit. Next year, we know what happened to win Super Bowl and they take off. But do you like the hire of Mike Grable? I mean, I like it. I like it, but. I don't see much changing. I don't see much changing depending on how the draft goes, depending on what they get in the pre-agency. Then you
Starting point is 00:05:31 get some pieces in there that could help defensively, that could help offensively. Things might change, but I don't see it to be a quick turnaround that fast. I've never seen a team turn around that fast. The quarterback position, obviously Drake made it good. He showed flashes of brilliance, then he's had some lows. Obviously, you get that with a rookie quarterback. Depending on his growth and how much better he gets from now to next season, then I think things will be okay for them. But I don't see him making that kind of jump where he just changes the dynamic of that team in general. And all of a sudden they turn it around and win 10, 11 some games.
Starting point is 00:06:09 No, it's not going to happen. If they do have a little season again, the lease for Vrabel will be much longer than the lease for Gerard Mayo. Buffalo's in that division. They're not going anywhere anytime soon. They got a quarterback Josh Allen can't no be beat no more than what 2728 years of age. They got a young team they got James Cook, young receivers young talented tight end good offensive line.
Starting point is 00:06:40 They got some pretty good pass rushes they got Ed Oliver they got Russo. So you know, Vaughn is a little longer than the two. Matt Milano came back, made some impact plays today. I think they can get a little better at the corner position with Buffalo. I think that's something maybe they're looking to maybe get another pass rush or something like that. Maybe a thumping linebacker or a ranger or safety that can take the ball away. But right. Buffalo aint going anywhere. Cause they got that 17 back there.
Starting point is 00:07:09 So they're going to be, they're going to be there for a while. Yeah. But listen, listen, Drake, Drake may as good though. Yeah, yeah. I mean, we, I mean, listen, some of the flashes we, you know, I've seen from them. I'm like, okay, the Patriots, the Patriots got them one now. Okay. But then it's like, Oh God, no, you can't do that.
Starting point is 00:07:28 You can't do that. They gon' make, they gon' lead some, some. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Most definitely. Um. Most definitely. He's, he's not a, he's not a CJ Shroud.
Starting point is 00:07:37 He's not a Jayden Daniels. Nah. He's not there yet. No. You know, changing the dynamic of your franchise and offense at the step of a finger with your play I get a little get some wide receivers get some players because what what CJ Stroud had is they had tank Dale He had Nico Collins. He had a Noah Brown. He had a dirty straight there to get dog choked and free agency, right? So they need that they had a solid offensive line. The offensive line was really good in his first year
Starting point is 00:08:03 They weren't so good this year. Tumsul, if I'm not mistaken, I think Tumsul made the Pro Bowl last year. I don't think he made it this year. He got nicked up defensively. They were really good, but I liked Drake and May, but there's, look, Ocho, they got $130 million in cap space.
Starting point is 00:08:20 I ain't, T Higgins, I'm calling T Higgins, cause you know, Ocho, you got that, what they call that, that window in which you can like tamper, the tamper window. I'm tampering. Hey, we got right now, we got five years, 160 million dollars for T Higgins. We got 80, we got probably 75 to 80 million dollars,
Starting point is 00:08:40 guaranteed, fully guaranteed. Right. I'm gonna put the pressure on them. Six years, six years, 20 guaranteed, fully guaranteed. Right. I'm gonna put the pressure on them. Six years, six years, 20 million, 90 guaranteed. I don't know if they're gonna go that because, because here's the thing. What do they do in the pre-agency, huh? They over what?
Starting point is 00:08:56 They gonna overpay. But here's the thing that I know. The more you give T, the more you're gonna have to pay Jamar. So if you give T six years more you're going to have to pay Jamar. So if you give T six years for two FT, get a, so he's going to come back with that to the, to the bagels. Yeah. So if you give T Higgins six for two six, it's for 200, what you got to give Chase?
Starting point is 00:09:17 He's going to want Joe Burrow money. You got that boy? He deserved, he deserved Joe Burrow. I don't care what he deserved, do you got it? It ain't my pocket. If I had it, if I had it, he would have been paid last year. He wouldn't, listen, if it was me, he wouldn't even went into this season without that bag. Because I know what, I know what you're going to give me.
Starting point is 00:09:41 I know what it look like. I'm not even going to question myself. Yeah. Blindfold. Well, how much you want? Matter of fact, matter of fact, here, Jermon, matter of fact, here, you take the check. I'm going to leave it blank.
Starting point is 00:09:53 You put what you want on him. Cause I know what you're going to give me. Yeah. That's what I couldn't be. I couldn't be no owner. But me? Owner? What? My time?
Starting point is 00:10:06 You said something very interesting the first time. You said it's not your money. When it comes to your money, you a lot more thrifty when it's your money. Like when you buy a car, when you buy a house, when you do all the stuff. Hey, hey, when somebody say, hey, you know, this is on us. Hey, first class, make sure we do dev to one.
Starting point is 00:10:25 You know, we got this car service picking us up. Hey, as a matter of fact, hey, if you want to, hey, I got the two airlines taking the week, they taking care of it. So it's easy to say that now, but when it's your money, like how much you want? Oh no, we're not gonna be able to go there. But listen, now look, there are 32 teams in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Yes. Three people on every team. Hey, Chad, listen to me now. There are three people on every team. You go through it on maybe on both sides of the ball that you could give them a blank check and you won't blink twice if you were to say, you know what, you write the numbers on there, whatever you want, you can have it. Now I'm just speaking hypothetically based on the type of reduction they're gonna give you week in and week out no matter what and you don't even have to ask no
Starting point is 00:11:12 questions you know what you're gonna get and Chase is one of them Lamar Jackson is one of them Josh Allen is one of them Joe Burrow is one of them you keep going down the list there's maybe maybe three, sometimes two, maybe one on the team on either offensive defense. Or you can get a blank check. Whatever you want, go ahead and write it on there. As much as I would love for Teague to go back, the money that it's going to cost you, you need to get a couple of defensive players, or you're going to be in the same spot that you were last year. Yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:11:46 So the question is, would you rather have get Hendrickson back and get you a corner, have Hendrickson back and pair with another defensive lineman? Right. Because it doesn't matter. It's been proven. You got a triple crown winner and you got a lead guy to lead the league and passing yards and passing touchdowns and you missed the playoffs. Yeah. Because like you said, your defense early on, let them down and a lot of those games, if you do what you always done, you'll get what you've always got. So at some point in time, you got to stop somebody because it puts so much pressure on your office to be perfect every game, every down, every possession.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Yeah. One slip up. Boom. Behind the eight ball. And so for me, if I'm the general manager, as much as I love to have tea, I've got to spend that, I've got to take that 30 to $33 dollars and I got to put it on the defense side of the football because because I
Starting point is 00:12:50 believe that Even if I don't have a triple crack jet Jamar chase is gonna go to the Pro Bowl for the foreseeable future. So what he doesn't have one 27 1700 Let's just say for the sake of argument, he gets 95 for 1400. Right. Joe, instead of throwing for 40 touchdowns, he throws for 35, 36. But your defense allows seven field points per game. Right.
Starting point is 00:13:16 This and that makes a difference. Yeah. That makes a difference on the back end, you know, and then it increases your chances also of being in the playoffs. And that's it, because you know, Joe gets to the playoff. He's been there before. He's very comfortable. This team has been there, especially the core guys.
Starting point is 00:13:35 Chase, Burrow, a couple of those offense, I think maybe one or two of those offensive linemen have been there. So, hey, you got a core structure, but at some point in time, O't you? You got to stop somebody. You got to stop somebody. You can't you can't keep losing games. Forty one, thirty eight, forty five, forty one.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Yeah. Thirty four, twenty, thirty four, thirty one. You can't keep losing ball games like that. And you see your quarterback have one turnover with four touchdowns and you lose the game because that one mistake because your defense auction they stopped nobody so that's that's just me but Mike Brayboy is the new head coach of the New England Patriots he replaces a former team did they play they play together yeah they played together a drawed male who was fired after one season Mike Brayboy out of work for one year, five
Starting point is 00:14:27 as a whole, a team that he won three championships with. And uh, people forget that Mike Braybo started in Pittsburgh or Joe. Yeah. Lambach started in Pittsburgh, um, went to, uh, Kansas city, not Kansas. He went to New England, and his last couple years, if I'm not mistaken, he was in Kansas City. Huh?
Starting point is 00:14:54 Okay, one year in 2008, okay. Oh Joe, Mark Davis was not interested in hiring Ravel for the Raiders, given past failures of hiring products out of New England. Yeah. But Ray, what Ray, look, Ray, I think his first year or second year, he took, he took the Titans to the NFC championship game, AFC against New England. Cause remember they ended up, they ended up losing no joke. And they had a 10 nothing lead.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And the, and the, uh, the Patriots, the Patriots, excuse me. I keep saying, the chiefs came back because at one point they were down in the divisional round, remember, down 24 points to cancer, to, uh, uh, the Texans. And they go on this and just blitz them. And they ended up winning the game like 51 31. And then the next week they fall behind 10 nothing. And then my homeboys with that magic. Hmm. So, uh, but he said Mark Davis was not interested in hiring
Starting point is 00:15:55 Braybo for the pay, uh, the Raiders given the past failures, Josh McDaniels, Dave Ziegler two years ago. So we hired those guys. And, and I think the biggest mistake from guys that have been around the coaches that come out of that coach Belichick tree is that you tried too hard to be coach Belichick. Yeah. And at the end of the day, I don't, I don't believe that's
Starting point is 00:16:18 variable. I don't believe that's yellow. No. Um, but I know guys that play for a lot of the other guys and that's that's that's what I hear right I think it's gonna be alright I think you'll be fine as far as far as Mark Davis I'm not sure and the job the rate of job isn't that isn't that nice to begin with? I don't know. It ain't like people knocking down your door to come coast there. So even come out and say anything about, I saw something saying Deon, you know, he not even, okay, Brave was not even, what?
Starting point is 00:16:56 Who, who, who is knocking on the door? I mean, I mean, it's not like Brave, I'm sure Brave, look, he would probably would have taken the job if there's nothing else available, but I'm not really taking no job without a quarterback because I know, I know my tenure isn't going to be long if I don't have a quarterback. So why even waste your time? Why even waste your time? Because the opportunity to be the head coach
Starting point is 00:17:17 for certain people is going to is going to come. Right. But certain people, those opportunities are going to continue to come. But see, the thing is, what Mark Davis, Mark Davis is like, he's thinking, but Brayboy never coached. He played under coach Bella Chape. Mike Brayboy started coaching as the linebacker coach at Ohio State. Then he got to, then he was in, at Houston.
Starting point is 00:17:38 And if you remember, Bill O'Brien demoted Romeo Crenll, elevated Mike Brabel because it would look better as Brabel at the DC to get a head coaching job. Then when Brabel got the job at Tennessee, he re-promoted Romeo to DC. So Brabel never coached under Coach Belichick. Now obviously he knows the type of locker room and the type of ship that coach Belichick ran. And I was reading some quotes where he said the locker room, everybody cared about each other. The most important thing was the win. And that's
Starting point is 00:18:18 what you have to have to win and teams that win and teams that win consistently. That's the I believe that's the over. Yes, you got to have talent, but everybody got talent. Now there's the bearing degrees of where your talent is located. Oh joke. But everybody has talent. I mean, you don't get to this. Everybody that's in the league is talented.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Obviously there are players that are more talented than others, but, but everybody has to a certain degree, a certain level of talent. But that's what I will agree with variable is that when guys are unselfish and guys care about one another Those are the teams that normally win and they win consistently so it's gonna be very interesting to see how this thing pans out for Mike variable because Yeah, he got his work cut out for him But he does have a quarterback that they drafted last year and they got 130 million dollars in cap space They drafted last year and they got $130 million in cap space.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Hey, it's Bobby Bones. Join me and former NFL quarterback, Matt Castle every Wednesday for our new podcast. Lots to say with Bobby Bones and Matt Castle. It felt like I told't know if you have the update, but like all the little thumbs up and heart and stuff, like it's all colored. They changed it. And the heart's a little pink.
Starting point is 00:19:47 It felt like I told you I loved you. I'm gonna be honest, it was a little pink. There was something sentimental when you sent it. It was like, do I send the heart now? I don't like the color edition. It's extremely pink. Listen to lots to say with Bobby Bones and Matt Castle on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:20:04 or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there, it's Michael Lewis, author of Going Infinite, Moneyball, The Blind Side, and Liar's Poker. On every season of my podcast Against the Rules, I take a broad look at various characters in American life. The referee, the coach, the expert. My next season is all about fans and what the rise of sports betting is doing to them, to the teams, and even to my family. I'm heading to Las Vegas and New Jersey
Starting point is 00:20:33 and beyond to understand America's newest form of legalized gambling. Listen to Against iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, daddy have a lot to say. I love you by the way on NHL Network. We're looking forward to getting together each week to chat and chirp about the sport and all the other things surrounding it that we love, right? Yeah, I just met you today but we're going to have a ton of guests from the colliding worlds of hockey, entertainment and pop culture and you know what? Tons of back and forth on all things NHL. Yeah, you're going to soon find out we're not just hockey talk. We have all kinds of random stuff on this podcast.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Movies, television, food, wrestling, even the stuff that you wear on NHL now. You wish you could pull off my short shorts, Virky. That's sure to cause a ruckus. Listen to NHL Unscripted with Virken Demurs and the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Charges safety. Derwin James said Justin Herbert doesn't deserve the hate he's receiving.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Let's take a listen. Okay. You don't deserve it, man. Um, like I said, man, ien, we know who wouldn't be in this position without him, you know, in this season. I feel like every game he's given us a chance to be in these games, man. And like I said, man, I don't want him to have
Starting point is 00:22:13 no other quarterback, man. I love him as a player, as a brother, and I know he gonna work his tail off next season. And I can't wait to be right there with him. Oh Joe, do you agree? Yes, sir. I mean, listen, Durbin has to say all the right things. Durbin has to say that obviously to be in a position that they are in, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:35 the quarterback is responsible. You know, when you win, quarterback get the credit when they lose. The quarterback is the reason why they lose. He should get the blame. Oh Joe, you can't, you can't say if you can't say what a quarterback win, he gets the credit, but if they lose, he gets none of the blame. I don't believe his hate. I believe his criticism. I believe the criticism was warranted.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Oh, Joe, how in 500 plus passes, you throw three interceptions in 32 plus passes yesterday, you throw four. You don't think he deserved to be criticized? You see again, everybody wants praise. Nobody wants criticism. But I've never heard, when have you ever heard a player say, man, look at it. Man, Ocho, y'all praising that man.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Y'all praising that quarterback too much. Y'all praising that running back too much. The wide receiver, you give them too much praise, Ocho. But the minute you say, bro, you gotta make that play You got to get in your break. You can't give up on that route. You got to hustle. Man, Ocho hate. Nah. But listen, you know what? Durran didn't just come out to be with that question. The question was asked by obviously because of the screw me, because of the criticism he was facing because of performance
Starting point is 00:23:45 Lamar throws let me ask you a question if Lamar throws four interceptions against Buffalo will he be criticized yes or no what criticized he'd be crucified man considering the man threw four interceptions all year so he throws four in one game and we're supposed to overlook that? Crucified, not criticized is the difference. Hey, when that turned the ball over four times, what did we do? Crucified? So I'm just trying to figure out, are we not supposed to criticize a player, the quarter, regardless, forget the position, Ocho, it's like a DB, you give up four touchdowns, we're not supposed to say, bro, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:24:27 Well, we gonna talk about you now. You should. Alime would give up four sacks. George Pickens dropping four passes. Are we not supposed to point that out? Right. But you gotta understand, this is his teammate. He gonna say the right things.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Remember what I told you when we talked about George Pickens about being honored tonight instead of being PC? Now, Derwin James obviously is going to say all the right thing. Remember what I told you when we talked about George Pickens about being honored tonight instead of being PC? Now, Derwin James obviously is going to say all the right things. He's going to say all the right things in front of the camera. But you understand one of the reasons why you are home and you're not continuing into the playoffs is because of your quarterback performance. You know that in the back of your mind, but you don't say it in front of the camera. You just don't. My thing is I don't have a problem with him defending, but I don't believe it's hate, I believe it's criticism and it's justified. Right.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Also, you have to understand the era we're in. You have to understand society. Criticism is labeled as hate now. Criticism is seen as hate. Truth is absolutely hate. Yeah. Bro, now I feel ugly. Oh, you hate me.
Starting point is 00:25:30 Now it's ugly, bro. Yeah, and sometimes it really be ugly. Yes. Yes. But look, I don't have a problem with you. The only problem is the choice of words that Darwin chose to use. I have, I love the fact that you're supposed to stick up for your teammate. And he's right.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Justin Herbert played really well this season. He did. That wasn't the case yesterday. And so that's what I love about sports on Joe is because it's game to game. It's update your resume, even though you can be as credential as you are and pack and it got me off one of, one of the shows on Fox. Tom Brady was a seven time champion. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Tom Brady wasn't playing well in those games and the, and the, and the fans knew it and all I was saying, I can't, I'm not trying to take anything away from Tom Brady, what Tom Brady did prior to this game, it has no bearing on this game. Tom turned the ball over twice. Tom was less than 50% completion. That's what we have to talk about. We, this is not lifetime achievement. Now we want to do a lifetime achievement.
Starting point is 00:26:37 The NFL says lifetime achievement war goes to Tom Brady. Seven Super Bowls. He went to 10, a yada and yada. So be it. That's not the time for me to bring up a game in which you threw four picks. This is a lifetime achievement. But when we are evaluating game to game, and that's what we do.
Starting point is 00:26:56 Well, you didn't say that last week. So what was I supposed to say? The guy threw for 500 yards and five touchdowns, they won. Worse the criticism in that. But when he doesn't play well, we talk about it. And that's what we try to do. And people don't understand. People don't look, that's not what you're saying. Look, when you get information, when you get better information, you're better to evaluate. When you can do better, you do better. When you know better, you say better.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Yeah. So what Durbin James is well within his right. I don't believe it was hate. Because when I think of people, I don't think people really hate Justin Herbert. But I do believe the criticism. Now some of the criticism that Lamar has received, but see when they start talking about, you know, well you don't say this about that. I know I'm being fair because they tell me, oh Joe, well, you don't say that about white quarterback. And then they tell me I don't want to say this about black quarterback. So if I'm getting it on both sides, I'm pretty sure I'm right down the middle. As long as it's not one or the other, it's both.
Starting point is 00:28:01 I can deal with that. Yeah. But listen, it would be hard. It would be very hard, especially in today's both. I can deal with that. Yeah. But listen, it would be hard. It would be very hard, especially in today's era and the younger generation. They're not going to be able to separate the two. They're not going to be able to separate them from the hate. Anytime you say anything that is not in favor of their play and how they're playing or what they're doing, it's going to be seen as hate.
Starting point is 00:28:21 No matter how many times you say, you can sit here and explain it until you blew in the face. You know, when you talk about players in today's game, they're going to be seen as hate no matter how many times you sit here you can sit here and explain until you blue in the face. You know when you talk about players in today's game they're going to view it as hate no matter what even if you are critiquing. What happened to the word constructive criticism? Even though it's criticism you use it we're trying to explain to you what you did wrong. If I just praise you, even if you're wrong, my grandmother used to always tell us like, boy, I never reward negative behavior. So when a child is acting up, you don't give the child candy.
Starting point is 00:28:59 You don't tell the child to go pick out a toy. My grandmother said, boy, wherever you show up, wherever you show, hey, you get wooed up. Right there. Now you sound like my grandma. Act up, get toyed. Yeah. Okay, now, if you play good, I'm gonna say you played good. But how am I gonna look?
Starting point is 00:29:19 Because people, oh, the position that we in, they're gonna hear everything that we say. So if you play bad, I've got to say that you played bad. You didn't play good. It's not personal. Everybody think now, if I say a guy didn't say I don't just like, well, I don't know you enough to dislike. You've never done anything to me. Right. So there's nothing to dislike.
Starting point is 00:29:42 But I think with my trained eye, having played the game an extended period of time, having studied the game, having watched the game, I think I can fairly evaluate what I saw on the field without making it personal. Am I passionate about it? And I think that's the thing. People take my passion with hate.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Not only your passion, but your delivery as well. Yes. Delivery, you know, not only your passion but to delivery as well. Yes Liberty, you know your delivery it is it come off like God damn, you know, so I kind of understand I can't understand where they coming from but uh, I just think the thing you're like doing like I love that you stand up for your teammate and rightfully so but I Would just like, the hate criticism. Yeah, the criticism was a little hard, but I can understand. Hey, we didn't play well.
Starting point is 00:30:33 It wasn't just on him. We didn't play well on my end. That's my thing was like, you know, hey, John had a tough guy. Yeah, but we got to help him out. I mean, it didn't help that we had three or four drops. It didn't help that we missed a couple of blitz pickups and forced them into a situation. Yeah, we got to help. Hey, if we stay on the field a little longer, hey, maybe our defense get an opportunity to rest instead of, you know, being on the field an extended period of time. There's a
Starting point is 00:30:58 way to say it. And I get, look, I get, like, I think now there's a, because there's so many, Ocho, there's so many sites, everybody has an opinion now. And guess what? I can go on your page and leave a comment. Ocho, you suck. You dropped five passes, you talk about you the best. Whereas before, Ocho, we didn't hear,
Starting point is 00:31:22 we really didn't hear no outside noise. It was only what they wrote. Maybe when you got to an opposing stadium, you got booed and they, Ocho, you terrible, you suck. You're not better than, you're not better than T.O. You're not better than Moss. But now, oh, you inundated with that. It lets you have it.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Yes, yes, absolutely. Because football, sports, pro sports have become 24 hours 365 and everybody's on social media and for the most part even if they don't follow you, oh you're oh oh you're on Twitter okay let me go leave this comment oh he on IG let me go leave another comment oh he on Facebook too let me try to another comment. Oh, he on Facebook too. Let me try to message him He might not see a they might not can see it, but I'm gonna message him anyway to let him know Yeah, you still suck. Oh Joe Jay just just a thought just a thought as a fan knowing that I can reach you
Starting point is 00:32:16 I might you might not see but just the fact that I have access It is a chance that you might see what I'm gonna say say or I'm finna let it rip. And even if he don't see it, guess what? You got family, friends and loved ones that do see it. Man, you saw what they said about you, Ocho? Right. You heard what he said? Yeah. So you're going to get it one way or another.
Starting point is 00:32:38 If not everything, you're going to get enough to like, man, what the hell, Ocho? Why they talking about you like this? Yeah, I wish more players. enough to like, man, what the hell, Ocho? Why they, why they talking about you like this? Yeah. I wish, I wish more players. I wish more players were like me and had my mentality when it comes to people saying things or people, you know, people being critical of their player, whatever. Maybe just even, even, even in life in general, even life in general, like I'm very accepting and welcoming of, and welcoming of critiquing.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Um, I have no issue with it. I have no issue with it. Cause you, you know, obviously when I was playing during that time, if it bothered me through the media, I was seen as the villain and I, I continued to feed the, what's the, what's the word I'm looking for? With the narrative. Yeah. I continued to feed the, what's the word I'm looking for? What, the narrative? Yeah, I continued to feed the narrative. I refused to change.
Starting point is 00:33:30 I refused to conform. The NFL, you know, okay, we can't control them. So what do we need to do? You know, we need to take his money. So when they started taking my money, I one of them, I started sending the fine money in early. I was sending, hey, it got to a point, like, I, one of them, I started sending the fine money in early. I was sending, Hey, they got to a point like year six, I was sending the money to the league office a week in advance ahead of time so you don't have to mail
Starting point is 00:33:52 me no FedEx letter. Cause I don't really go mess up. I just, I just wouldn't conform. I wouldn't conform at all. And I wish players were able to take that critique in like when you, when you, when you got on me for some of the stuff I did, you notice I never said anything? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:08 I didn't. I mean, I hear it. Oh, I heard it. Laughing. Okay, okay, okay, and like that. Okay, next week I'm gonna have something else fun. I'm gonna have this. And plus, I think the thing is, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:34:20 is that social media, because I don't want people to think that social media is all bad because social media is good. No, it's good. It's a good thing. It's very good. A lot of times social media can give people an opportunity to see you outside of what's being written and talked about.
Starting point is 00:34:37 You, they get an opportunity to see you for what you want to present. Cause a lot of times like, man, man, I ain't know he was that funny. I know he had that kind of personality. I, a lot of people like man, man, I ain't know he was that funny. I know he had that kind of personality. A lot of people like, because you see me on CBS, you saw me up there sitting at a desk, and they see a couple of snippets. But then I get to be on undisputed. And I really get to let my hair down. Right. And I think that relatability is what people like kind of
Starting point is 00:35:04 gravitated toward. Man, he like my uncle, he talked just like he was at the cookout at the barbecue. We have to wear the barbecue at the barbershop. He's talking like that, just like we actually talk, but he on national television. I ain't no, hey. Yeah. And so the social media aspect does have its pros and cons, but just like everything, you have to use it.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Or. To its advantage. It'll use you. Yeah, social media is very advantageous. Now it can swallow you up. Yes. If you have a weak mind, you're not strong minded, you gotta play, you gotta learn to play the. You got to learn to play the game. You got to learn to play. You'll be all right.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Oh, somebody said, I'm what I'm drinking. What's Taylor Port? A wine, a cheap wine at that. It is very. No, you know, you know, like Morgan, David, it ain't it ain't no it ain't no protrude. It's not no Rothschild. It's not those, you know, no opus, came us silver, whatever a silver old.
Starting point is 00:36:18 It ain't none of that. You see what this is, right? Sparkling cider. And this ain't number half, I wasn't drinking nothing, man. It's a number half of sound. Oh Joe speaking of social media, quarter rail Patterson shades the Steelers on Instagram since I can't judge the field. Patterson did not play a single offensive snap last night.
Starting point is 00:36:45 Yeah. I understand his frustration. I understand it. What he was able to do in Atlanta, you know, understanding what he can do in Minnesota, more so on special teams, sometimes the backfield, but you got Nick, you got Nigel Harris in front of you, so you're not taking carries from him. You know, so your opportunities are are gonna come few and very, few, how do you say this, Sam?
Starting point is 00:37:10 Few and far between. Few and far between. So you have to make the most of those opportunities and they just- But you can't, hey, guess what? It wasn't in between because they didn't come at all. Yeah, right, that too. Well, they, they didn't use the best weapon. So, I mean, that's who need, that's who should be complaining, but I'm not,
Starting point is 00:37:33 that's neither here nor there. That game is over, but I feel for them though. I feel for them. Oh Joe, check this out. Here's the Twitter question of the week. So if a female takes a man out, do he got to give it up at the end of the night? Whoa, whoa, whoa. I now be talking. I can bring that. Hold on. I like that question. First off, who's paying?
Starting point is 00:38:04 Well, the woman, I'm assuming she invited the guy out. Yeah, so she's paying. Who's paying the bill? Is she paying? Yep. I like this. I like this. Now, sometimes if you get an assertive woman, if you get an assertive woman that'll pay the bill, she will let you know. No gray area, huh? No gray area. When you have a woman that asks you out, when you have a woman that pays the bill, she's letting you know what time it is. You know what the play is right after this, right? I didn't, I didn't come to play and these ain't young folk.
Starting point is 00:38:34 These ain't, hold on, hold on, hold on. Talk about, talk about, let me get, let me get a timeout. Hold on. Let me time out. Talk to me. That you telling me they're wearing out there that y'all can go out. Yeah. And you can get the buns on the first night? Uh, the older women?
Starting point is 00:38:51 The older women? I ain't talking about the young ones, the young ones that want you to pay for everything, not them. I'm talking about the older women, the older women that are seasoned, the older women that are veterans, the older women that don't want to play games. I'm not here to play no games. Listen, I need to understand if I'm going to deal with you long term or not. How do I know if I'm going to deal with you?
Starting point is 00:39:10 I need to know if when we lay down horizontally or vertically, have you want to do it? If it's good enough, you know what? I'm going to be around for a while. If it's not, I probably don't answer your phone call no more. That's life. That's down. That's life. Now I'm 57. I'll tell you what I've been through. more. That's life. That's life.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Now I'm 57, I'm telling you what I've been through. I'm telling you what I've been through. All right? Now you get some of these young whippersnappers out here today. That's all about what can you do for me? Buy me this, buy me that. Get my nails, get my nails and my feet and my hair done.
Starting point is 00:39:41 You know, my wig, I need a new install. That's different. It's all about what you can do. Then you really get nothing in return, you know, uh, my wig, I need a new install. That's different. It's all about what you can do. That you really get nothing in return, you know? Damn. But I'm talking about Ocho, Ocho, for real though. I'm talking about, hold on. Because see here is the thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:55 I got, I'm extremely, extremely careful. Because this, look, no means no, maybe means no, yes means no tomorrow. So I'm really, really, I'd be, hey, I'd damn it like, are you sure? Are you sure? Hey, hey, hold on, are you sure? I'd be the damn dude, kill the boo. I'd kill the vibe. See, you don't have to do, that's why, see, that's why, you don't have to do that with all the women, huh? 40, 45, you know, 55, sometimes even 60. Huh? You hear me?
Starting point is 00:40:28 They, yeah, what? What? 60? What feel you playing in? But hey, Marlon Ocho, the thing is, the 60, that's my age, that's a little older than me, but I'm saying, they grew up in the era, they grew up in the era, they grew up in the era when I came up here.
Starting point is 00:40:42 That's what, that didn't happen. Oh, these women evolved with the times. They didn't got time to play. They don't have time to play. That's what I understand. Listen, the young folk, listen, the young folk gonna waste your time. You know why they gonna waste your time?
Starting point is 00:40:57 Cause they have time to buy. They young, they have time to waste. Oh, okay. I'm 24, I'm 25, I'm 26. What I'm rushing for? Okay, you right. What I'm rushing for? Okay, you right. What I'm rushing for? Now you get to talk to the women, you get to talk to the women our age, they ain't got time to play. What I'm waiting two, three weeks for? What I'm waiting a month for? What do I have? What do I even have a 90 day rule for? 90 days,
Starting point is 00:41:19 I might not even be here. Damn. I'm not listening. If she liked it, I don't need to be bothered anyway. That was by the way, Gia Loco, hope it. Yeah. I'm just like, you know how it is. You know how it is, man. Listen, listen, they're pros and cons. They're pros and cons.
Starting point is 00:41:43 If you, if you got time to waste and you want to play the game, you date the young folk. But I'm saying that's the thing. The guy, Ochoa, ABC, B, I don't even ask. You ain't gonna have to ask. Oh, no, hell no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah, I got to ask. Carl, you talking about AIDS.
Starting point is 00:42:02 So what you do, like, can I come to you? Oh, no. I already think, I already ask. Carl, you talking about, hey, so what you do, hey, can I come up to you? Oh no, mm-mm. Already think something up. Hey, you don't understand, man. Well, I guess. You get you one of them old ones. You hear me? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:17 You know, she put that blindfold on you, put the sock in your mouth so you can't talk. Shh. No, I can't give her that kind of control. There ain't no handcuffs because I be pulling that whole headboard off? Hey, y'all, hey, I guarantee you, I spent that whole headboard. Bad, bad, please.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Bad, hey, I don't like being restrained. Oh, no, no. Oh, dude, dude. Hold on. Hey, hey, hold on. Let me tell you something, man. See, this how this when I tell you you not living, this is what I mean you not living. You got to get your swing set, right?
Starting point is 00:42:55 Yeah. Tell Michelle to get your swing set. You tie it, boom, in the, what do you call the doorway? What do you call the doorway? The doorway. You tie it boom in that in the in the in the what do you call the doorway? What do you call the doorway the doorway? You tie it you hang it up in the doorway Yeah, yeah, you hang it up in the threshold. What do you want to call it? Bingo, that's one call it a little swing says you got to do that then bondage you get you get the bondage tools I I I ain't gonna hold you. I ain't gonna let that happen
Starting point is 00:43:21 Because they know they know they know tied up. I don't I can't let tying up. I can't let you get that kind of control. You gotta let her tie you up. I'm telling you. See, man, I'm not talking, man. Hey listen, she tied you up and your legs be up, right? But you can't move. Cause they got the weights. Like a woman, hold on. You know I got kids. Hold on, so you know I got kids,
Starting point is 00:43:45 so they put you up in them st- Oh, no. Yeah, no. Oh, no. Hey, uh, uh, listen. Hey, boy. Mm-mm. I'm telling you, hey.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Uh, listen. Wait. Hey, Ocho. Get to your bedroom, man. Man, they come down there like, well, Mr. Shaw, what happened? They're head boy gone off that bed. I done smashed that yoga smooth off. well, Mr. Sharp, what happened? They're, they're head boy going off that bed. I don't smash that joke.
Starting point is 00:44:05 It was smooth off, man. Please. Hey, listen, I'm gonna see you some videos, man. So, you know, check, you check the videos out and you just experiment. You experiment, you know, you, you, you listen, you, um, you're 57. At some point you got to evolve. You got to try new things. There's so much out there that you haven't done yet. You you might like it
Starting point is 00:44:28 That's the problem. Like matter of fact, you you ever been to the swing club? No, no swinging But I need swing without the elementary school. I'm going to swing set Bad no swinging going on. Oh Oh Bad I don't know what you hold up your dad a daddy that ain't for me Not even me That A for B. That A for B. Hey, it's Bobby Bones. Listen to NHL Unscripted with Verkan Demurs in the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You say you ain't swinging elementary school? Hell nah, I don't play, I don't do nothing other than swinging. I'm good. I will take y'all word for it. I will take your word for it, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Ha ha ha ha. Hey, man. We gotta go to the D.R., man. You gotta worry about none. You know, I think you'll be all right, man. You'll be all right. Ocho, rapper, red man, method, red man. There used to be a tandem rap group
Starting point is 00:48:28 Said he was celibate for two and a half years. No sex No alcohol so everything crystallized for so everything was so clear and his eyes and just opened up just open up. Now, what I will believe, Redman, I will believe that you were sober. I can see the discipline in that area and not drinking, understand that it can better you and better your life, better your decision making. Uh, as far as sex is concerned, I'm not sure how that would cloud judgment in any way or cause bodily harm in general because sex is, is healthy for you. It's healthy for you.
Starting point is 00:49:12 It wouldn't clear my mind. My mind would be so cloudy. Why? I got the free willy. Better than be backed up in you, man. No. Hey, listen, I'm still on my celibacy journey. So I understand what he's saying,
Starting point is 00:49:38 but the amount of time, how many years he said? Two and a half years. See, that's, now that I can't believe because I'm on Let me see she left me in October October October November G January so Jerry. Yeah, that's this and I'm struggling. I'm strong struggling. I'm we too. I ain't number two months in Yeah, man. Yeah, I'm struggling. So I'm not right two years Hey, I'm two months on and I Yeah I'm struggling so I'm trying two years. Hey I'm two months
Starting point is 00:50:07 gone and I'm gonna be a... I'll give you six weeks. I'll give you six weeks. Who? I'll give somebody six weeks. I'm in a relationship. I'll give you six weeks. We need some space okay? I'll look at you. I'll give you six weeks from today. Right. Six weeks from today. Right. Hey, what would happen if they don't come back after them six weeks? Hey, hey, somebody black happens. I got to put Black Ham on somebody else. OK, should I should I try that? Should I say that? No, no.
Starting point is 00:50:45 Oh, no, no, I'm a track. But? No, no. Hold on, no, I'm gonna try that. But you know, but the problem is, is the old joke. I'm gonna say I got it from you. I'm gonna say that was your idea. You ain't got that from me. I'm just saying what I would do. That's a totally, that's a totally, you and Rell is in a totally different situation, huh?
Starting point is 00:50:58 I confide in everything you say. You're like a father figure to me. So basically, if it's been two months for me and I'm right here being celebrated and you just said something that you done or you would do within a six time and I'm sitting around here waiting two months. Well, just not really for that. But for me, it's giving me peace. It's giving me a sense of calm, a sense of clarity. And I'm like, well, shit, I need to stand on business. So boom, you got, well, she didn't get no six weeks. I'm gonna give her another week.
Starting point is 00:51:30 If you give me some in another week, I'm going. Well, she called you the other night. You said you wasn't going to get none, so. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. She trying, she trying. But I'm in a place and a position where you did something to me And you need to be you have to stand on bitters and I can't just give my stuff up like that because I'm not easy Does that make sense yeah, it makes sense to you I
Starting point is 00:51:58 Just say to thank you Oh joy Just all the pain look if that's something that you really want to work for if that's something that look Because at the end of the day. Oh the long look Oh, I want to work with my all I'm saying is all I'm saying is is that the longer you'll wait the more Likely if something can creep in that's all I'm saying. So yeah, I happen to be out here No, six months no year. No two years, you know, hey, we separated. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah,
Starting point is 00:52:30 nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah,
Starting point is 00:52:38 nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, How do we come back together and be at a more stronger union than we were so this doesn't happen again? Because at the end of the day, so what do you think it's going to take? Do I need to go to therapy? Do I need to go to therapy on my own? And we also go to couples therapy? So I'm just trying to because I do want this to work because I don't put so much time in it, so much energy, so much effort.
Starting point is 00:53:07 Huh? Matter of fact, you believe in therapy, you think therapy works? You think counseling, you think couples counseling works? Let's look at where's Ash? Ask Ash to look up the statistics on the percentage of therapy actually working. Couples therapy,, couples therapy, marriage therapy, counseling. I'm curious what the percentage would be
Starting point is 00:53:30 on those that actually work. For me, Ocho, I went in with an open mind. Oh, so you did it? Yeah, Ocho, I don't know what people, I've done it. Ain't no did it, I've done it. I was in therapy for a long time. I did therapy, I was doing, I've done it. Ain't no data, I've done it. I was in therapy for a long time. I did therapy. I was doing, I just stopped probably about a year ago,
Starting point is 00:53:48 but I was doing therapy once a week for $300 a week for like three years. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Real-ass shit back in. Therapy? It's successful 70% of the time. out of ten you got to pay for it yes what i'm paying you to listen to my problems yes and i paid it for you to give me an answer on the issues i'm booked yes oh man please yes
Starting point is 00:54:23 Oh man, please. Yes. I'm glad y'all think so, but I'll see her the thing with Shannon Sharp. Everything Shannon Sharp has ever said on television or on nightcap can be proven or disproven. So y'all say cap that don't bother me because I know firsthand. That's why I'm able to speak so freely and effortlessly about it. Because I've been there. When the therapist told me, Shannon, you're speaking y'all speaking two different languages. She's speaking Chinese and you're speaking Spanish.
Starting point is 00:54:54 Unless you learn the other's language, you're never going to be able to communicate. Shannon, are you arguing for right or you arguing to be right? I'm not telling you what somebody told me. I'm telling you as I'm sitting on that lady's couch. And she says, Shannon, would you mind bringing your partner in here? Because you're telling me this. I want to hear what she has to say. And we go. And she said she asked her, why do you feel feel the need to try to make him feel like he's
Starting point is 00:55:29 left there? Do you understand his background? She said, yeah. She said, do you understand how prideful he is about his background and the way he was raised? He's never going to be disrespectful. He's never going to be disrespectful. He's never going to put his hands on you. But why do you feel you need to challenge him?
Starting point is 00:55:56 And I said, I sound intense. I was it is, but you have to be artists. Yeah, is this something that you want? It just got to the point, no. No? I didn't want it anymore. I had given all I could give, and she wasn't hearing. I was out.
Starting point is 00:56:22 I couldn't give anything else. I had given some, because here's the thing, Ocho. What I had started to do, I had tried to be so much, be what she wanted so much. I lost me. I wasn't Shannon no more. I was what she wanted me to be, but I wasn't me. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. What did you hear what you just said? You tried to, I'm gonna put it in my word. I tried to appease her and make her so happy.
Starting point is 00:56:53 I lost a sense of self. I wasn't Shannon anymore. I was not married and Barney Porter's grandchild. I was not. I was not that. I was not that little boy that grew up on that farm and grew up Porter's grandchild. I was not, I was not that little boy that grew up on that farm and grew up to be a man. That wasn't who I was.
Starting point is 00:57:11 You see, a lot of times men will go out of their way. Women will just say, accept me as I am. Right, right, right. Men will go out of their way to try to please a woman. And in the process of pleasing a woman, you lose yourself. I just had to say no, Ocho. But you gotta be real with yourself.
Starting point is 00:57:36 You gotta wanna work on this. You gotta wanna work. And it takes work. And it's hard to hear your partner say things that like, damn, why are you saying that? Well, that's actually, and I can replay it in my head because I'm very, I'm very, I know what I've said. I know what I've done. Yeah. But to hear, to hear her say it. Okay. That's why I learned the proper way to apologize. It's not that if I've done it you said it so clearly I've done it
Starting point is 00:58:07 Right intent does not matter Whether you intended to do it or not. She's still hurt. She's still offended. Mm-hmm now I Apologize the greatest apology is change behavior So you can apologize a thousand times, but if the behavior doesn't change, you're not sorry for what you've done. No. And most of the time you're never sorry. Most of the time you're only sorry because you got caught. Me at the end of the day, I just thought that it was like, and we're better off as friends.
Starting point is 00:58:42 We're better off as friends. We cool. We have a bet. We're better off as friends. We're better off as friends. We cool. We have a bet. I think the biggest problem that we had or joke, she was young. I was young. Uh, we're trying to figure this thing out, which is, you know, and it just, it just wasn't to be.
Starting point is 00:59:08 And as we 20 years after the fact, she's like, I didn't realize what I had to you. Come on now. They never do till it's too late. I've never met a man that works as hard as you and as disciplined as you are, but you're very prideful. You're not going to let nobody push you around. You're not going to let nobody talk reckless to you. No, because I don't talk reckless to you. I'm not going to call you out of your name because I wouldn't want nobody to call my sister, my mom, or my grandma out their name. So I don't call women out their name. And now I had daughters and I definitely don't want nobody to call them out their name.
Starting point is 00:59:39 So I'm very respectful. I'm very understanding of that. For me, and a lot of times I was messing with this young lady and she would like start to argue. I was like, you know what? You're right. I'm gonna let you have that. You get upset. She's like, we never gonna figure anything out. I said, I would rather keep the peace.
Starting point is 01:00:05 Right. Let you be right. It's not that big of a deal to me. I like that. It's not that big of a deal to me. I'm not finna go back and forth and argue with you over something. You're right.
Starting point is 01:00:17 But it hurt her. It bothered her. Because you wouldn't argue back. She said that, I wanna get away. I say, well, if you wanna understand me, just ask. I don't that I want to get away. I say, well, if you want to understand me, just ask. I don't feel I need to get into an argument or disagree with you for the help you understand me. I'm telling you, I don't want to talk about that.
Starting point is 01:00:34 We see things differently. And just because we see things differently, I see things differently to you because of my age, you see things how you see them because of your age. That doesn't mean I'm right. That doesn't mean you're wrong, but we're gonna see things differently because I was raised in a different era. But I'm willing to accept you for who you are and the era you were raised in, I want the same.
Starting point is 01:00:56 But I think the thing is, Ocho, I went in, because I was a skeptic at first, I was like, man, I'm damaged. But I was like, you know what, I'ma go. It's just like anything, Ocho, I can't do you know what, I'm go, it's like anything, I can't do anything half ass. I'm spending this my buddy. So if I'm spending my money, I'm going to get the most out of it. So went there and I saw it and I came every day.
Starting point is 01:01:15 I mean, not every day, but every week. Right. And I call that lady just like anything if you like. Hey. And you know, during the pandemic, you know, you couldn't be in person. Hey, face time. That was really that what I started face time. And the thing is, if you're like, hey, and you know, during the pandemic, you know, you couldn't be in person. Hey, FaceTime. That was really, that's when I started FaceTiming. Like, damn, I gotta call this lady on FaceTime? Damn.
Starting point is 01:01:33 You were really into it like that? Yes. Oh, Joe, I don't know how to half ass anything. I don't. Right, right, right. And for me, it's a succession. I get upset. That's, and that's why I'm like, And for me, it's a subcession. I get upset. And that's why I'm like, when I'm good at something,
Starting point is 01:01:49 I'm really, really good at it. But I don't waste my time with stuff that I'm not. Right. I go all in. Yes, I was 1000%. I was taking notes. She's like, well, take notes. Oh, Joe, I'm taking notes.
Starting point is 01:02:02 Hey, she say something. I sneak up. I write it down. Yeah. See, she called me. She called me a black sob. Right. See, that's how it would be. That's how it would be. You know, it's very, very meticulous, very, very detailed.
Starting point is 01:02:21 Very detailed. And jotting everything down. See, the one thing, the one thing, I don't forget anything. I don't forget anything that's said. I don't forget anything that I heard. I don't forget anything that I've saw. Ever. Right. You not hear me, ever. Right.
Starting point is 01:02:36 I got the memory of an elephant. Right. As time goes on, which is why I was thinking about, you know, doing something like that, but then the price points you talk about, like, I'm not doing that. I'm not sitting down and giving you that kind of money just to hear you, for me to tell you my problems and you to regurgitate what you think the issues are with me. Honestly, Ocho, for me, if I care about somebody, there's not a amount of money enough that
Starting point is 01:03:04 I wouldn't spend to try to make it work. Right, right. That's what I mean. I mean If I care I care right We dating you need something. I got you. Yeah, right That's that's how I am because I've taken time out of I've taken time out of my schedule To try to get to know you on a level. It and I spent that kind of time, I got a year, I got two years, I got three years. I'm not willing to just throw it away.
Starting point is 01:03:35 Not just me. So you mean to tell me I was in love with this person for three years, four years and. One incident make me throw it all away. Hmm. I just, I mean, yeah, I'm sure there are probably things that she probably could have done that would, would make me do that, but because I know I'm not perfect and I'm flawed and I've, I've put people in situations that I've asked for a second chance and they graciously gave that. That's what that's what Ocho that's why I say I'll never ask more than I'm willing to give.
Starting point is 01:04:13 Why? That's why I don't go hey ain't no women you ain't gonna find nobody in the last I bet you can't find one person last 30 years they Shannon Sharp called me at two o'clock, one o'clock midnight and came over to my house. I don't ever ask more than I'm willing to give. I don't do that because I don't want you to call me. Don't call me at one o'clock in there. First of all, I ain't going to answer the phone. Second of all, you got, you know, late night, would call like, Hey, where you at? But I'm sleeping.
Starting point is 01:04:46 I'm leaving the club. I'm asleep. Well, actually, I'm not sleeping. I'm thinking, like, Ashley, she done probably sent me a message and I'm thinking about, OK, what I got to do with blah, blah, blah. I got sponsors. I got this. I got to, you know, jump on the call. I got to go to a Zoom meeting about this. I got to, you know, talk to. No. The right one to have you up.
Starting point is 01:05:04 The right one to get you up. The right one to get you up. He ain't gonna have me up. You're not finna call me that time of night, Ocho. Ocho, I don't sleep well anyway. I probably sleep about four or five hours. That's all I sleep. And then I get me an hour nap during the day. Nah, it ain't that serious.
Starting point is 01:05:20 I don't, I mean, look, I love sex like the next man. I don't love mean look I love sex like the next man I don't love it that much not to get up in the one o'clock two o'clock in the morning oh no no no no I mean you call somebody one o'clock in the morning you up now when I was younger, okay, okay, okay, okay Okay, but I was asleep Oh That clock 215 oh no Oh, oh man Yeah
Starting point is 01:06:18 I say boy. Oh, man. I go downstairs. Oh Joe Open the door. Yeah. Somebody said, you been talking about me. I said, what? She had on something real scantily, huge scantily clad. I said, what?
Starting point is 01:06:40 I said, come on in. You over here now,. You got me up. You're about to get what you're looking for. Right. That was it. Oh, I remember. I let me tell you. True story, Ocho. This was in 1993. I'll never forget it. I had just moved into the breakers.
Starting point is 01:07:00 Uh huh. Ever since then, I said, no, I'm good. That was it. I can't do it. Oh, Joe, I can't. Because you know what? In my mind, I think if something will happen, I'm going somewhere I supposed to be home, be in the bed, sleep. I own a job. Something happens. Shannon have a blah, blah, blah. Shannon, you supposed to be in the bed.
Starting point is 01:07:25 That's what I always think. When I'm not supposed to be doing what I'm supposed to be doing, if I try to clear off from that, that's why I do the same thing over and over. I'm in my own head. I'm cool. I'm good.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Hey, it's Bobby Bones. Join me and former NFL quarterback, Matt Castle every Wednesday for our new podcast, I'm good. Listen to lots to say with Bobby Bones and Matt Castle on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there, it's Michael Lewis,

Listen to NHL Unscripted with Verkan Demurs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, Ocho, let's get back on track. Now it's time for our last segment of the evening. It's time for Q&A. Man, number eight, that was good, man. We done been all off track.
Starting point is 01:10:37 We definitely off track. MD said, oh, if your team ain't win today, I don't want to hear you say that. We never be at all off track. Definitely off track. MD said, oh, if your team ain't win today, I don't want to hear you say foot or ball. Yeah. Oh Joe, get him Bronco, not Raven. You a land Rover. Hello. Let me ask you, well Joe, if you don't want to champion, if you don't want to check a super bowl with your, or with the big, or with their Patriots, you ain't want to champ if you don't want to a super bowl with your over the big over their Patriots
Starting point is 01:11:06 You ain't gonna claim you you gonna claim them. No, I'm not. Yeah, you are No, I'm not because I didn't contribute to that Super Bowl, but I'm saying if you had a You got him there Or you help no Absolutely not I'm a bangle. That's it. I'm a Bronco and a Raven. Okay. I'm a braven.
Starting point is 01:11:33 If that makes you happy, then so be it. I'm a braven. Bronco slash Raven. Broncos slash Raven. Yeah. Fuck. That means that the Broncos beating the Chiefs gave them false hope. No, it didn't. You needed to win that game to get into the playoffs.
Starting point is 01:11:59 You look, there's levels to this. There are very few teams that, you know, get there in the first year and they win it all the way, especially when you're dealing with a rookie quarterback. It boils a rookie quarterback. But look, they got, they got confidence when they had the Chiefs and Arrowhead on the road and the Chiefs blocked the field goal,
Starting point is 01:12:20 or they would have lost that game. So if you go back and study the history, the Broncos have always played the chief, even with my homes played them tough. Remember two years ago, they beat them and beat them bad. So the Broncos feel very comfortable playing the chiefs, but it didn't give them false hope they didn't. I don't think they thought they would go win the Super. Uh, King, uh, King Gov and say, Yo, after that first TD hit us up with that, that porky, that's all folks.
Starting point is 01:12:55 I, I'm feeling good though. I do. I actually, you know what I was about? I was like, Nope, shut the car down. Get a good, a couple more of these tubes and then you'll be okay. But then I was like, no. Jesse, if your team didn't win today, I don't want to hear you say football.
Starting point is 01:13:14 Hail to the, yeah. Y'all got me. Y'all got your boy. Y'all get your little laugh all now, but I'll be back. When? Next season. Oh, oh, we play the Bengals. Oh, oh, oh, oh.
Starting point is 01:13:29 Matter of fact, I saw the schedule for 2025. The Broncos play the Bengals. Where y'all play? Where y'all play? Will y'all play? Y'all come to us? It don't matter. We'll be great.
Starting point is 01:13:38 It matters. Oh, no, it don't. I might go out there. I might go out to the country to see that one. It absolutely don't matter. Believe that. Oh, what happened to your Broncos today? I appreciate both of y'all, man. We got to hand it to us, bro. They know, you know, I would say I like it like this.
Starting point is 01:13:57 Oh, I like what a team breaks off here because that way, you know, we're not there yet. You win by you lose by touchdown. You lose by field goal. You like, man, we're not there yet. You win by, you lose by touchdown, you lose by field goal. You're like, man, we were right there. You know you weren't. Right there when it was seven nothing, seven three. And then once it went to 10-seven, it was over. All you could see was tail lights. Flag on the play, Ocho needs a sippy cup.
Starting point is 01:14:22 He do, he ain't used to dragging like that. JR 55-43, Baltimore city, your honorary assistant coach. The rain was with the Superbowl for telling them how to use their Henry. They need to send you boys up. Let me see you boys up. Nah, just, uh, I ain't gonna be able to go to the game. I ain't gonna be able to, I ain't gonna be able to be to the game. I ain't gonna be able to be there, cause I gotta be at NYC Monday,
Starting point is 01:14:48 cause the beer studio. Wait, who play tomorrow? The Rams play Minnesota, Rams play Minnesota in Arizona. Hey, it's only one game tomorrow. Yeah. Damn, man. And then you got, you know, you got two games, Saturday, two games, Sunday. Yeah, I think Kansas City, because they were off the by teams play on Saturday, don't they?
Starting point is 01:15:18 Can't see the place used to know on Saturday or they play them on Sunday. I would think they would make them play on Saturday since they've been off. Why? Yeah. That should be a good one tomorrow, man. Yeah, it should. Brian West said with the Packers having the injury bug, this game would have been, would you rather have
Starting point is 01:15:42 the injury bug hit a crucial game, the defense offense excluding the quarterback or also Ocho, Burton in Cincinnati needs some guidance. Oh. When it comes down to the, when it comes down to the, sometimes it's about all about a war of attrition. Who's the healthiest? Not who's the better team.
Starting point is 01:16:01 Who's the healthiest team at the time in which we play? Mm-hmm. You might be the better team, but if you got injuries Injuries to keep players and they're not able to participate Well, all of a sudden you level the playing field Yeah, and what you get to it once you get to a certain level the teams are pretty even Yeah, especially once you get to the playoffs Yes, I mean look at at, look at, look at, look at Baltimore and Buffalo. MVP quarterbacks, both have been to the, Lamar's won, but MVP candidates this year, both have been to the Pro Bowl.
Starting point is 01:16:40 Mahomes and Stroud. Mahomes has a little bit more more credentials but Stroud has been to with offensive rookie of the year been to the play bowl those guys you see what's what's transpired Jane Daniels offensive rookie of the year going to the pro bowl Jerry golf uh uh been to the soup bowl he's going to the pro bowl so it leveled i mean now it comes down execution now but you get injured. Hopefully everybody, for the most part, I think Washington is fairly healthy. Uh, the lions, they'll beat up a little bit, but they've been playing without
Starting point is 01:17:14 their guys for an extended period of time. So they've kind of hit their rhythm. Oh, Joe, we know what we know. It's not like they've got these rash of injuries in the last two weeks. They've been dealing with injuries and they've got, okay, we've got our rotation now. Let's go play. But you're right, Ocho. Burton had got himself into some trouble.
Starting point is 01:17:33 I don't really know a whole lot about it, just about what I read, but he definitely needs somebody that can talk to him and like, young man, you got a great opportunity. Don't waste this opportunity. Yeah. They can't mess it up. Uh, Trudy Lawrence says, she, she, you know, Carmen Ocho, what equipment as a player did you hate the most to put on for the game? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:56 I have no, but hell with the shoulder pads. Right. The same thing. I ain't, I ain't wearing nothing else. I was like light as possible. Hey, hell if I could have gone out there with that, without the shoulder pads, I probably would have, I ain't go down there without a helmet now, but the shoulder pads, if I could, but you want to be as light as you possibly can.
Starting point is 01:18:16 And, uh, but now I looked at that helmet and those shoulder pads. That's, that's my armor. Put it on that shield. I'm going into battle. Oh yeah. Tyron said, what's up, I can note your which team is better suited to beat the Chiefs, Bills or the Ravens?
Starting point is 01:18:33 Both. Both? Both got dual threat quarterbacks. And both of them get it done a different way. Both can extend plays. Both can buy time. We saw LeBar, buy time, by time, by time, by time, find a guy in the back of the end zone.
Starting point is 01:18:49 By time, find a heel. We see Allen, by time, by time, by time, found the running back. So because they can beat you with their arms and their legs, you have to defend every blade of grass when you're dealing with those guys. They can get out wide, they can, hey, they can keep the ball,
Starting point is 01:19:11 they can throw the ball over your head. They're just, both of these teams feel very, we saw Buffalo beat them this year in Buffalo. If they play again, if they have to meet again, obviously this will be in Kansas City where they haven't had the same level of success in Kansas City in the playoffs as they have in the regular season.
Starting point is 01:19:34 The Ravens, the Ravens want, the Ravens want this, both teams want it because they realize in order for them to get the credit that they deserve, they're gonna have to go through, they wanna go through Kansas City. Yeah. Lamar says, look, we have them Can they want to go through Kansas City? Yeah. Lamar says, look, we have them on the roads.
Starting point is 01:19:47 We have them dead to right. Our first game of the season and we let those jokers off the hook. Buffalo said we did a job on them when they were in our place. By any, by any, so remember likely foot. Yep. You're absolutely right. Uh, the wise guy TCG, Uncle no chill love both of you from Kansas City as for day January Daniels that dude is superb Best in the NFC was versus a guess best in the NFC Washington versus cheese Super Bowl
Starting point is 01:20:18 That's asking off a lot. I don't know. I don't believe I don't I'm not picking them to beat Detroit I'm just going to say that now't I'm not picking them to beat Detroit. I was going to say that now I'm not picking them to beat Detroit Now I'm gonna be a that's gonna be a tall task. Yeah. Yeah, it's an awful lot command Detroit but they can put up points quick or hurry and a bunch of them. Oh Yeah, and a bunch of and they can win the multitude of ways they can win a field goal game. They can score 50 on you Washington gonna have to play one of their better games, unless. They can force Jerry Garth. Now we've seen him turn the ball over.
Starting point is 01:20:51 Oh Joe. Yeah. Now when you turn the ball over to playoff time, even if you have the superior team, you drop down and you raise them up to your level. Yeah. So that's going to be a very interesting game. Well, we'll find out a lot on Saturday. Marco Polo.
Starting point is 01:21:04 I believe CJ Stroud should watch film on Peyton Manning. Do you believe if he audibles more? Will help will that help his game? Well, yes an awful lot look Yes, look if you can't put too much on his plate like that already that Peyton what you see Peyton coming to the leap Hey was doing that in college. Yeah They had a whole lot of Payton Manning. No. They didn't even ask Brady to be Payton Manning.
Starting point is 01:21:30 Think about that. They didn't ask Breeze to be that. Payton ran the offensive meetings. Do y'all understand what I'm saying? Not the offensive coordinator. Payton. He ran everything. He's telling guys, I want you here.
Starting point is 01:21:46 I want you to run this route this place. I want you here back. I want you to check and do the run the rim. Bro, that you probably never going to see another painting again, bro. Oh, I hope you enjoyed it. I hope you enjoyed it. But CJ is going to be fine. Just in a second year.
Starting point is 01:22:11 Uh, PA 30 other, I built a ball of shade on the pit game. I'm mad at my words. I'm going to order the collector's edition. How about you, Ocho? Sign that for me. I like to hear y'all pick quarterback situation for next year. Uh, I think Russ, you know, the problem with Pittsburgh, Ocho. Yeah. Is that they always win enough game that they're never in position to get one of those quarterbacks. If you think about it, big Ben fell in their laps. But when you make the playoff, you weigh down.
Starting point is 01:22:44 And so all the quarterbacks are gonna be gone And so now you pick it in the second round and you getting the guy you you got uh, what's the guy they got? Cody picky with it with a picky Yeah, yeah Kenny That's a lot of pressure for a hometown kid, played it. I mean, think about Ocho. The Panthers share that building with the Steelers. You go left, you go to the Panther side.
Starting point is 01:23:14 You go right, you go to the Steelers side. So he's been pulling up to that all the time. Now instead of going left, he's going right. And he's a hometown kid. Lot. Yeah. Samuel Griffith, hey, I'll get on show. If you were GM of the Broncos, what would be the biggest area of need for that team to be more competitive next year?
Starting point is 01:23:39 Tight end. I like the receivers. Yeah, maybe get a little, maybe, maybe get a little. I like the tennis. I like the receivers. Yeah. Maybe get a little, maybe, maybe get a little. I like the Tatas. I like Sutton. I like Mims.
Starting point is 01:23:51 Yeah. They made some good plays down the stretch, boy. Maybe running back. I thought Javante Williams would be a little better, but McLaughlin, I think that's McLaughlin. He got most of the snap. And plus I don't like, I don't like that they ran a slide to the running backLaughlin he got most of the snap and plus I don't like I don't like that They ran a slide to the running back bro on the short side of the field Well, he ain't got nowhere to turn
Starting point is 01:24:10 I mean he got to do a better job of understanding where he is and try to turn up and not run out of bounds On fourth and two But I didn't like that play call, but I think I think me personally Running back tight end. Office line pretty solid. Maybe another, I love Allen. They got great Cooper and a Latino. Maybe a safety.
Starting point is 01:24:42 Safety? The defense is not that bad. Oh yeah, the defense is really good. John Day said, me and the wife and counselor, and they helped, I pray I pay a hundred, like once or twice, but my guy has a doctorate degree and is a psychologist, love the show. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:25:09 Yeah. But bro, I look, I mean, she's like, well, Shannon, you know, you can come every two weeks. I say, nah, I want to do this every week. I want to do it every week. Cause I want to, I want to know the root of why I am how I am. Uh, is it me? What am I doing? How could I be better? I want to be better. I want to be better for me. And if I'm better for me, I'll be better for her. That's the way I look at it, Ocho. And, you know, I think that's a small price to pay.
Starting point is 01:25:38 Obviously, everybody don't have the means that I have to be able to do that. So maybe you can only go once a month. Right. OK. But, you know, it's it's's, it's better to have somebody here that doesn't have a dog in the fight. Cause a lot of times her side, her family, her friends going to take her side, your family, your friends going to take their side. Right. Uh, but like I said, my sister, I like I like who side you own.
Starting point is 01:26:13 But that's the way it goes sometimes, though, Joe. Yeah, that's right. And then you come to realization. You know what, oh, Joe? No. Hey, you did everything you could. It just they meant to be. Yeah. I'm gonna try that.
Starting point is 01:26:29 I'm gonna try that. It just ain't meant to be. Guys, thank you for joining us for another episode of Nightcap. Oh, great. Wild card weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Now we know the matchups, the matchup. The commanders are headed to Detroit.

Starting point is 01:28:34 The commanders get a last second field goal by saying Gonzalez. It hit the upright, but it only matters if you went through and it did. If they win on a walk off 23 to 20, Jane Daniels was sensational. The Packers defeated the Eagles 22 to 10, Saquon rushed for 119 yards. The Eagles defense picked up Jordan Love three times and that was enough for them to go
