Starting point is 00:00:00 Okay so this episode of Crime Junkie doesn't come out until what we've got like a couple weeks. Yeah. Okay. We're pretty set. We're in a good spot. Great. So we can we can record this. Do you care if I take this? Justine, she said she need to talk to me. Absolutely. Hey Justine. Hey, do you have a minute? Yeah, like one. What's up? Okay. Have you ever heard of the name Brian Singer? Like the film director? Yeah. The usual suspects, like a bajillion X-Men movies. He even did Bohemian Rhapsody up until like the very last days of production. Oh, okay. So wait. Wait, what about him? Sorry. Well, I just got off with the source. Who's willing to go on the record with me? And he has the most wild story. You aren't even going to believe it. Okay. Give me like the high level. I'm about to go into recording, but like what's the story? Okay. Okay. So basically in 2018, two writers uncovered this wild open secret. For years, this guy, Brian Singer, had been accused of sexually abusing teenagers looking to break into Hollywood. And Singer just like kept on working. Like the whole time, like through Bohemian Rhapsody and all that stuff that you mentioned? Yeah, yeah. And then Esquire gets the story, gets like 50 people to talk about it on the record, all of these victims sharing what this guy did to them. So if Esquire did the story, I don't understand why I've not heard about it.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Well, see, all of a sudden, the story just disappeared into thin air. Wait, but why? That's the thing. No one really knows. Okay. I'm all in. So if we did this, how many more stories like this do you think that you can drum up? Like if you, I mean, I know you got a ton of like, like journalists friends, you've been in the industry for so long. Oh yeah. I've already got nine other people ready to talk about their stories that were killed. Dude, that's what we call it, killed. I mean, I think if we're going to do it, honestly, I want to drop them all at once. Like, I'm not giving anyone a chance to kill these for a second time. Like, we got to, we got to bring these dead stories back to life. Back to life. This is going to be huge. Crime junkies, you've been with me long enough that I wanted to start giving you a glimpse behind the curtain. That call all those months ago was the beginning of something very cool that I am very proud of. So you just got to see how it started. Now go see what we made.
