Previously on the stories of the Greyhill Free Company
You can hear a commotion happening nearby.
You believe your friends have been spotted.
You're not sure what they're doing, though,
but, yeah, how would you like to respond?
Cherry and Falmorn, back-to-back,
both of their bows drawn,
and riding around them are two goblins on the backs of wolves.
Oh, no.
But imagine instead of the bus's front being made of glass,
the bus's front was made out of something going nearly 120 kilometers an hour.
And a glaive.
Two of the goblins have strung out between them this long, stretchy rope run at you and at Kentura.
The two goblins let go and the rope slams and wraps itself around you.
One end of it sticks up to look at your face like a snake and then it opens to reveal teeth.
Fuck.
What about the mimic?
The mimic hovers over Big T.
No.
Down it goes.
I forgot how many NPCs are down.
Yes, yeah.
It's the mimic's turn.
Boss goblin throws a javelin at you.
But I'm so weak.
Globble.
Come on, shield.
Do its damage.
That's a hit.
That's bullshit.
You take four points of damage.
Okay.
Oh, no.
All right, I'm on one.
All right.
That's good.
That's good.
Big T, would you like to make your saving throw?
I would like to make my saving throw, please.
You want to get a 10.
If you get anything less, you're dead.
Oh, my God.
14.
Oh, my God.
All right.
That's one successful saving throw.
You're on two successful, two failed.
That's cool.
Would you like to make a roll for Falmon as well?
Yep.
14.
That's another successful saving throw.
Then it is the goblin's turn
There is three of them
The boss gob points to Cherry
Hit
Cherry takes seven points of damage
Why they do so much?
It's good
Cherry's still standing
And then final
Wait, how many rolls have I just done?
One
Second attack, miss Third attack, miss Cherry's still standing. And then final... Wait. How many rolls have I just done? One. One.
Second attack.
Miss.
Third attack.
Miss.
I scored.
Javelins are all...
This battlefield is littered with javelins.
It is Global, you and Cherrycheeks' turn.
I would like to grab the mimic and heft it at one of the goblins.
Perhaps the boss goblin.
I don't care at this point.
I'm just going to grab it and heft it.
You grab it and you throw it.
Yes.
Okay.
So, the mimic grabs you.
No.
Do you have any good boy cards, perhaps?
I guess you would throw your good friend's way.
For truer to circumstance?
I would like to piff that at my good pal.
Okay.
Let me think on that one.
You know what, actually?
No.
All right.
You can cash that fortuitous circumstance in
for a quick, dirty benefit
or for a benefit a little later on,
but that benefit might not save someone's life.
A quick, dirty one.
Quick and dirty, please.
All right.
The mimic.
We'll survive that long. You would not have thrown the. All right. The mimic. Will he survive that long?
You would not have thrown the mimic at all.
Like, the mimic wouldn't have gone anywhere.
But you've directed the mimic to one of the goblins,
and the mimic's like, well, since I'm here.
And the mimic is now attacking a goblin.
It's good.
What would you like Cherry Cheeks to do?
And Cherry can get another goblin.
All right.
He fires.
He can't get his sneak attack, but he fires his bow.
Nat 1.lin. Alright. He fires. He can't get his sneak attack, but he fires his bow.
Nat 1.
Cherry.
Cherry.
Oh my god, Cherry. A default penalty on
his next attack roll.
Well, he and
he and Kentura are
kind of peas in a pod,
you know?
Yes.
Come on, Cherry.
It's Kentura's turn.
Oh, right.
How are they doing?
Alright, Kentura fires
from their dead prone course. You're right, you're right, you're right. How are they doing? Alright, Kentura fires. From their dead prone corpse?
You're right, you're right. That's a failed
saving throw.
Kentura is nearly dead. That's good.
That's not good. Alright, it is the Mimic's turn.
The Mimic attacks a goblin.
Yes! It misses. Fuck!
It's the boss
goblin's turn.
The boss goblin is
pretty confident in a success. The boss goblin is pretty confident in his success.
The boss goblin...
No!
You just said he was confident in his success.
Yeah, now he's extra confident.
Another three goblins appear.
There's six goblins.
We're going to die.
There's no way.
Big T, it's your turn.
Roll a 20.
16. 16? Alright.
You are stable.
Roll one for Falmon.
20.
Falmon
has
one hit point. What would you like Falmon to do?
Firebolt. Is there an AoE he
has? Yeah, Burning Hands. You could catch
all three new goblins with Burning Hands. Hands. You could catch all three new goblins with Burning Hands.
I would like to catch all three new goblins with Burning Hands, please.
Falmon surprising all three of them.
Falmon bathes them all in flames.
Good Falmon.
Clever Falmon.
God, that's what a brain gets you
Alive
My word
So all three of them died
Even with half damage
That's good
You're back down to three
Hey
And it is the goblins' turn
No
The alpha goblin points to Falmon.
No!
No!
All right.
First one's attack is a miss.
Falmon is like...
Oh, Falmon gets advantage because they're making ranged attacks.
Do you want this back?
Give me that dice back, yeah.
Now that we're all alive, you can have it.
I like having matching ones.
Second one is a hit.
And Falmon was only on one hit point.
No!
I shouldn't have given in the matching one.
That was on me.
Yeah, that definitely was what turned it.
Alright, Falmon's back into saving throws, baby!
He's got another chance of getting hurt.
And then one more attack.
And that one's going to be directed at you, Global.
Isn't there a mimic? Also, also perhaps fighting the goblins?
Yeah, don't the goblins want to...
It doesn't matter.
They would have missed basically anything.
Good, good, good.
Either way, it's fine.
One more javelin lands somewhere.
Who cares?
Shit, shit.
Big T, would you like to...
No, wait.
It was the goblins.
It is Globble, your turn.
Frostbite.
Mm-hmm.
On...
A goblin fails their saving throw and takes three points of damage.
Yes.
And will have disadvantage on the next attack.
Right.
What would you like, Cherry?
And Cherry, get one of the other goblins.
One not fighting the mimic?
Yeah, sure.
Yep.
Cherry fires and misses.
Cherry, can you use your...
Oh, they had the...
Yeah, they wouldn't have hit anyway.
Cherry, can you use your swords?
Cherry? All right, I'll get on that next turn. It's Kentura's turn. Oh, they had the, yeah, they wouldn't have hit anyway. Jerry, can you use your swords? Jerry?
All right, I'll get on that next turn.
It's Kentura's turn.
Kentura fires their longbow.
I'm from a prone corpse again, Adam.
Ah.
I mean, I don't want to keep reminding you of our good friend.
Then why do you?
I just, I feel.
What do you feel?
Is it a sense to betray your good friend's ass?
I wrote a little, drew a little skull or toast, depending how you look at it.
All right.
Then it is the mimic's turn.
Come on.
Hug you for goblos.
The mimic brings down, like in the wild, the moving rope brings down a goblin.
Good. Good, good. Yeah, brings down a goblin. So there's two goblins left. And down a goblin. Good.
Good, good.
Yeah, it brings down a goblin.
So there's two goblins left.
And the boss goblin.
And the boss goblin.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
All right.
It's said boss goblin's turn.
What are they going to do?
They could blow their horn.
No!
Run away!
They're pretty confident.
All right.
What have we got?
What have we got?
What have we got to do got The boss goblin
And the wolf springs to life
They're going to charge down
Cherry
No
The boss goblin swings his scimitar
And hits
He does
Seven points of damage
I think that's Cherry
Cherry goes down And then He does seven points of damage. I think that's Cherry. Yeah, that's Cherry.
Cherry goes down.
And then, as they're riding through, the wolf turns to you and nips out at you.
That will be...
What's your armor class?
Level 17.
Oh, you're fucking hard to hit.
Yeah, that's going to be a miss, surely.
Trusty shield.
Trusty shield.
You bring up your shield,
and the wolf's jaw is so big
that you see teeth on either side of the shield.
And I'm fucked.
And then it is...
Big T, would you like to make...
Yeah, you need to make a saving throw, don't you?
No, they're stabilized,
but I guess I could roll and see...
They're stabilized.
Sorry, no, for Falmon.
Well, actually, yeah,
make a roll for yourself and for Falmon.
Falmon needs to stabilize, but you will come back on a 20.
18.
All right. Well, you're not back.
And now Falmon?
20.
Falmon stands up again.
What would you like Falmon to do?
Falmon, sorry.
Another AoE. Falmon can'torn, sorry. Another AoE.
Falmorn can't get just enemies in an AoE.
Falmorn could Burning Hands and get the Wolf and the Boss Goblin,
but they would also be getting Cherry and...
I'm on one hit point.
Oh, yeah.
We're all suffering.
Yes.
What about?
How about?
How many goblins are left?
Two. Two're all suffering. Yes. What about, how about? How many goblins are left?
Two.
Two goblins.
Well, let's send a firebolt a goblin's way.
The closest goblin, firebolt.
Could he get any?
If he AoEs, could he get only just goblins?
And no?
He could pick one goblin, but he couldn't get two goblins. Okay, firebolt in that case.
Because I think if we can reduce the number of turns against us,
that's got to help in some way, you know?
Action economy and all that jazz.
Action economy.
This is stressful.
I'm so sweaty.
So am I just on one hit point but asleep?
No, you're on zero hit points.
But asleep.
But I'm stabilized.
Yeah.
So wait, what did you want Felmon to do?
Firebolt. At? The closest goblin. Yeah. So wait, what did you want Falmorn to do? Firebolt.
At? The closest goblin.
Okay. Or the weakest goblin.
Falmorn strikes the nearest goblin
with firebolt
dealing
one point of damage.
Ah!
Ah!
And
then it is the goblins' turn.
Falmorn.
That's a hit.
Falmorn goes down.
Falmorn!
Oh, my God.
How many times?
This Falmorn.
So on the ground, nearly dead.
Attack, killed.
Attack, killed. Attack, killed.
A javelin strikes you, Glovel, but does not hurt you.
You just feel it biting into your armor.
Okay.
And then it's your turn.
Okay.
Okay.
I would like to, I guess, frostbite one of the wounded goblins, I guess.
Fails his saving throw.
You bring down the one that was wounded.
That's good.
And I guess cherry.
Stay alive.
And I'd like to huddle.
You need to make a saving throw for cherry.
Yeah, it's five.
Five.
Cherry tries to stay alive, but it doesn't look good.
Come on.
And then...
Oh, then it's, yeah, Kentura's turn to make a saving throw.
Come on, Kentura.
You've got one.
Kentura's gone.
Oh, no.
They were such a good lizard.
They were such a good lizard. They were such a good lizard.
How are we doing so poorly?
This was the first one.
Yes, if memory was to serve him correct,
we were doing pretty decent and then someone
sprinted into a
trap, which was actually
an alarm for
the camp.
Okay. But you did a good job.
I am reflecting on that and I was told I did
nothing wrong and actually did really well.
So that couldn't have been me.
No. How's all those?
Highs?
Highs.
Oh no. No, stay with highs.
It's the boss goblin's turn. Well, the mimic
is eating.
The boss goblin
the mimic's basically not in this fight.
It's eating.
It's got what it wanted. The boss goblin
is turning back around
and coming back at you again, global.
They swing their scimitar and hit.
I'm down.
You took five points of damage.
Alright, is that everyone? Yep.
Hell yeah. Alright.
So, I need you all to make your saving throws
To see whether or not you survive
So who would like to go first?
You can pick the NPCs to go first if you want
I'll go, you know, Zamet's going first
Okay
14
That's a success
3
Fail
11
Success 1 20 Three. Fail. Eleven.
Success.
One.
Twenty.
Twenty.
All right.
You come back on one hit point bound and gag.
We'll get to that in a tick.
Roll for Kentura.
Not Kentura.
Falmorn.
Sorry.
Five.
Fail. Sixteen. Five. Fail.
Sixteen.
Success.
Two.
Fail.
Fourteen.
Success.
Oh my god.
It's one each.
Seven.
Rest in peace, Falmorn.
No, who's going to be clever?
Who's going to be the clever one? All right right would you like to roll for cherry cheeks cherry
cheeks is on one fail nine nine another fail 18 success eight oh that's it that's just us No Cherrycheeks, Kentura and Falmorn are dead
You both awake
You both wake up tied to a post
You're back to back
Both of you are gagged
Because they know that you can at least cast spells
But they're not
Big T was not conscious for long enough
To display any spellcasting talent And they're just, Big T was not conscious long enough to display any spellcasting talent.
And they're just wary.
That's fair.
You would also notice, Globble, that your hands are like kind of bound in like really tightly in something.
It feels like you're wrapped up in a sticky sack of some sort and your fingers can't move at all.
You are in the camp that's good you can see
you're in a tent inside the tent there are a number of corpses both your allies and otherwise
yes your ex-allies you can see both of you turn to look around and you can see that there's a
table in this little hut as well and there are like various piles of flesh on the table.
You see a goblin in like a butcher's apron going around stripping various cuts of meat from the corpses in this tent.
Right.
Awesome.
You can't talk, you're gagged.
this tent right awesome you can't talk you're gagged i just want to like how do you say like a like a oh no and then just a shake head whilst being gagged but i'm doing that
just drool dripping from our faces the goblin seems to be talking to itself. It turns around and you see it has like a book in its hands.
The book is leather bound and very heavily worn.
There are like little bookmarks and stuff like that stuck in the book at all different spots.
The goblin's like reading the book.
It walks over to you, Globble.
And then looking at the book, looking away from the book, it looks at you
and closes its eyes and is trying to eye you up.
Looks back at the book.
It sets the book down at your feet
and then the goblin wanders off
and comes back with some pouches.
The goblin pulls out
nice smelling herbs and starts
rubbing them on you.
Oh, he's making me a nice delicious salmon meal.
Okay.
He licks his fingers.
You smell rosemary, thyme, maybe fennel.
A bit of butter?
No butter.
Okay.
No butter.
He should be using butter.
Okay.
Okay. What's the oil that's should be using butter. Okay. Okay.
What's the oil that's adhering to me?
Just herbs?
Oh, it's just on your...
Oh, wait.
What do you mean?
Like when he's basting me.
Oh, yeah.
He does rub you in an oil.
Okay.
Cool.
Cool.
Cool.
Yeah.
That's good to know.
It smells like kerosene, though.
It's not...
That's not good.
It's not a cooking oil.
I'm mad on two different fronts now.
You can't even lick yourself free.
I know.
Okay.
Right.
I want to look over at Big T.
And can I mimic Flex?
Break your bonds.
How do I mimic or how do I get that across?
I want to be looking at you.
Yep.
And I want to look at your whatever it is.
You're facing away from each other.
Suck.
Hey, I'm going to know how to.
I don't want to be stuck.
I'm going to try and flex out of my bonds.
All right.
I don't need to be told don't be trapped.
I'd also like to try.
You're both on one hit point.
Yeah.
I'll be like.
Tree stump. Yeah. You immediately burst out of the ropes.
Okay, I untie my very good friend.
Well, hang on. One problem first.
Yeah. You explode
out. The goblin turns.
He's got a
butcher's cleaver in one hand.
Let's go to initiative.
I will be punting this. Crush his head. Crush his head. Globble, it's your turn. You hand. Let's go to initiative. Yeah, I will be punting this.
Crush his head.
Crush his head.
Globble, it's your turn.
You are bound.
I would like to struggle.
Yeah.
All right.
Mostly struggling.
Try to burst your bonds.
If I can, yeah, definitely get my hands free, that'd be lovely.
Have I, in theory, had a rest?
No.
Damn it!
No. Your unconsciousness does not count as a rest.
Bullshit!
You explode out of your confines, though.
You're free.
Your hands are still bound behind you, though.
There's something separate keeping them there.
Okay, that's all right.
Yeah, they were suspicious of you.
Yeah, there's something else keeping your hands together.
That's okay.
And behind your back.
I'll try and get rid of that next turn. Spit out. Big T, it's something else keeping your hands together. That's okay. And behind your back. I'll try and get rid of that next turn.
All right.
Spit out.
Big T, it's your turn.
Someone's coming up to me with a cleaver, yes?
A goblin, yeah.
Okay.
I would like to kill them.
How?
Glaive.
You don't have it.
Use your bare hands.
I would like to use my bare hands.
Yes.
Rip that goblin off.
You grab that goblin, lift him up into the air,
you crush his head in your hands.
He's dead.
Does he have the salt rub still? Yes. I put it on him.
I want to, well, just look at you. I look at you like
oh, and then I drop him and untie you,
but my hands are a bit slippy.
His hands are duct taped together.
Mouth first, please.
Oh, mouth first.
All right.
Good job.
Thank you.
You did amazing.
Can you look at my hands?
Okay.
What's going on there?
Does it look like it can pull?
So it's just duct tape.
Yeah. Is there perhaps he's cleaver? Is it look like I can pull? So it's just duct tape. Yeah. Is there
perhaps his cleaver? Is there something? Yeah, let's look
at knife things. Can you just grab something sharp
and just cut that off for me?
Okay!
I hoist the cleaver above my head
No, no, no. Gently, gently.
Big T, big T.
Okay. Okay.
Let's be quiet too.
Yes, good actually.
Be quiet.
Let's be quiet with this.
We uncleave.
All right.
You free your friend global.
Okay.
So I want to look at the rest of the – do we see our good friends?
Yeah, they're here.
They're in the pile of corpses.
I go over to maybe inspect, see if they're definitely dead.
Oh, yeah.
These are three corpses.
So it seems we've lost our good friends.
That's unfortunate.
Okay.
What's around?
Let's have a look.
Well, you can pick up the cleaver.
You've got that.
I hand the cleaver to Big T.
You keep looking around. There's a set of pilfered,
quite obviously the goblins didn't own this.
It's something they've taken from one of their
victims. But yes, a set of
nice cooking knives and utensils
and stuff. Is there like anything
sorry, if you've gone to look at weapons
I'm going to be sticking around
just having a peek at the corpses still.
Falmorn, do they have
anything I can take as a memento
for the smartest person in the whole world?
Oh, yeah, let's see if he can get his book back.
And now a word from our sponsor.
Jackson here to interrupt your show and tell you
that you should be listening to Shut Up a Second,
Sands Pants Radio's oldest and longest running podcast.
It's got a simple premise.
We pick a topic, anything from shoes to big bellies,
and then we just try to be funny about it for 30-odd minutes.
It's a blast.
So search for Shut Up a Second wherever you find your podcasts.
Yeah, the goblins would not have taken Falmorn's books.
Falmorn has like a little book on a chain.
The chain is kind of like forms a belt.
You could take that and that contains Falmorn's spell book.
That's good.
Well, in terms of books, it's the small one.
So in my mind, that'll be easier.
It's not a massive book.
Yeah, it's quite small.
Like a pocket book.
I take the little book and put it on.
He wouldn't want you to have it.
I think so.
One day I'll be able to read it.
One day, yes.
Got to have goals.
Got to have goals.
Put it on like a necklace.
Right.
We'll inspect what else is in this.
What do we have?
Is there anything here?
A healing potion?
Edel?
Perhaps? Perhaps?
Please? Fuck, you're killing me.
Yeah, we look for juices.
Nah, we have a look around and see what's in this.
There's meat preparation stuff here.
Would having a good meal
help us?
What are you laughing at?
We don't want these kind of...
There is a big stew pot
that unfortunately,
Globble,
you're going to have
to submerge yourself in.
I was about to say,
I need to,
I'm like,
anyway,
we need to be very
I hop in.
You've submerged yourself
in a stew pot.
Do you open your eyes?
No.
There's something else in there.
I'm not opening my eyes.
Yeah,
there's something else
in the stew pot.
Does it move?
As in like
Or is it just like a floating bit of hunk of meat?
It's big
But is it like alive?
No it doesn't move
Then I'm not opening my eyes
It's fine
Okay
Get out
Did you have a look?
Freestomp?
Yeah
Are you curious?
Yeah hang on
Can you like message me what it is?
Because I want to
Alright I'll send you a message A little quick Can you, like, message me what it is? Because I want to.
All right.
I'll send you a message.
A little quick.
I was like, right, close my eyes, and in we go.
Okay.
I get out.
All right.
Yes, big T.
I'm wiping the stew off my face.
Right.
Okay.
So what else is in there?
You smell like Thamri.
Like what?
Thamri?
Cherry chicks.
Cherry chicks.
Oh.
Yeah. Yeah.
One of the good ones.
Right, okay, so we need to get out of the camp.
Such a fucking morbid thing
that you just had to do.
Also, everything smells
like fucking soup now
because you breathed it in.
Yeah, gross.
Right, so
we need to get out of here
and then regroup.
Oh yeah, I want to go. I don't want to be here anymore. We need to get out of here and then regroup. Oh, yeah, I want to go.
I don't want to be here anymore.
We need to regroup.
I guess we can still try and get the magical item that we need.
But not right now.
We need at least a little bit to reconvene.
Let's go into the woods.
Let's do the element of surprise.
Have a little sleep.
Yes.
So, right.
What do we have in this tent? Well, you have a set of surprise. The element of surprise. Have a little sleep. Yes. So, right. What do we have in this tent?
Well, you have a set of knives.
Okay.
There are a lot of clothes here.
Can I use them?
I can use the knives.
Yeah.
Yeah, you can use them.
Just count it as a dagger.
Yeah.
The goblins have not taken some things from these people.
Mm-hmm.
Basically, anything the goblins wouldn't count as useful.
Mm-hmm.
So, they've been stripped of weapons,
any obviously magical items and whatnot.
They've been stripped of money and armor,
but they have the clothes on their backs and basically any piece of art that a goblin might be like,
I don't understand what the fuck this is.
Are we able to look around and see if there's an obvious storage for weapons and money?
You can have a look around this tent, sure.
Yeah.
Well, I don't need a roll for that.
You peek around the tent and you can tell that this place is for food prep only.
Oh, well, yeah.
It would be unsanitary to keep the weapons in here.
That makes sense.
It might be nearby, though.
Yeah.
Can we, let's have a quick, just a little bit of a rest.
Here.
Does it catch our breaths?
So we can have a bit of a short rest, as it were.
Should we hide in the corpses?
I don't think you're going to get a benefit from a short rest,
because I think you've already had a short rest.
Fuck!
You need a long rest.
Fuck!
Okay, so what we're going to do.
What if we go to the bottom of the pile of corpses?
And have a long look.
The chances that they might miss.
I love your idea.
There's no bad ideas right now.
But there is a dead goblin here and we're missing.
So they might go look for us.
That's actually not a bad idea.
So if they're looking for us, they might not look in the pile.
You are a giant and a Goliath.
But then they might think we're simply dead.
We should put blood on us.
I want to have a look around.
Is there any other Goliaths?
In the corpse pile?
Yes.
Hives.
No, there's no other Goliaths in the corpse pile.
There are.
So your friends make up three of the corpses.
There are in total five corpses.
Okay.
So we can arrange them. Not including whatever you might have found in the corpses. There are in total five corpses. Okay.
We can arrange them.
Not including whatever you might have found in the pot.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
So I love the idea.
Don't get me wrong.
It's a beautiful thinking.
However, does that mean Cherry's corpse is a little, Cherry Cheeks' corpse is a bit dismembered?
Is that what you're saying?
There's a lot of bits here and there. No, no.
You just smell like Thamri.
Oh. Oh, yeah. Cherry Cheeks is not in the pot. Yeah, Cherry Cheeks bits here and there. No, no. You just smell like Thamri. Oh.
Oh, yeah.
Cherry Cheeks is not in the pot.
In the pot.
Yeah, Cherry Cheeks is here.
Oh, but.
Someone else is in the pot.
They were a halfling, yes?
Yeah.
Yes.
So I love the idea of big teeth.
Don't get me wrong.
It's a beautiful idea.
It's very smart, like thinking out of the box.
I just don't think that we're going to fool them as you are the only Goliath and I am
the only fish boy
here and they...
So why don't we have a bit of a sneak
around and get out of here?
Okay.
I'll poke my
little tiny fish head
out of the flap.
That's a stealth trick.
Let's have a quick look.
Have a little look.
You have a little look around.
You poke your head out.
You do see that there is a open-air tent maybe 10 feet from the entrance of your tent.
There's an open-air tent, and it looks like all of the equipment that they take is kept here.
That open-air tent is pretty exposed, but you can see neatly stacked your equipment.
Okay, so there's that in 10 feet in front of us.
Okay, good.
When that happens, a goblin nearby,
who is like half attentive, looks in your direction,
and you see the goblin do like a double take,
and then you stick your head back in.
Uh-huh.
That's all that happens happens that you're aware
of obviously you can't see what the goblin's doing now okay okay what happened um i think i might
have been seen so we're going to uh just wait by the entrance of this tent
can you go out there and just grab the goblin and bring him in here if possible?
You see, it's daytime now, so there's light everywhere.
And you can see, silhouetted by the sunlight, a shape of a goblin on the other side of the tent.
And then, like, the goblin has a long spear, and it pokes the tent with the spear.
Gargom! Gargom! Gargom! Gargom! I call out. the tent with the spear. Gargum. Gargum. Gargum.
Gargum.
I call out.
As a deception check.
I nearly said, come in.
I didn't even think that I couldn't speak the right language.
Uh... I gargum. I couldn't speak the right language.
E, gargum.
I kind of just mumble then.
Gargum, gar, here.
Gar. Gar.
Gar.
The figure turns and walks away.
I want to like nudge or like hit Tree And I want to, like, nudge or, like, hit a tree stump
to then be like, stab in the back, stab them, bring them in.
I got a meat cleaver, so I do what I can with what I got.
I'll mime, like, hit, grab, and then in.
All right, you step out.
You see the goblin's, like, walking away casually
with its spear slung over its shoulder.
You attack it from behind.
Yeah, but he was leaving.
We said go.
Oh, no, I attack.
I've been told.
You put the cleaver straight into the back of that goblin's head.
You deal nine points of damage.
The goblin dies almost immediately.
And in one fluid motion, you grab the goblin's corpse
now and drag it in.
We're making a collection.
In a way, yes, we are.
Well, we have a spear now.
That's an upgrade.
Oh, good.
It's not a glaive.
Glaive.
It's not a glaive. Iive this. It's not a glaive.
That's good.
It's a glaive.
I'm a slave to the glaive.
Okay.
Let's have another quick.
Let's both of us just peek our head out very quickly.
But you're not good at that.
You do it then.
Actually, no.
Can you?
You do it then.
I do it.
Well, I'm at an unexpected height.
That's true.
You can probably see further.
You stick your head out.
You see the exact same thing that Globble saw.
You see that all of your equipment is maybe 15 feet away from you
in a very exposed position, admittedly.
There are a bunch of other tents around.
It's the middle of the day.
You're in the goblin camp somewhere.
You can't tell exactly where because you can't get a great lay of the land.
There are goblins about, but no one's paying a lot of attention in your direction.
One goblin maybe glances in your direction and you're afraid for a sec that you've been seen,
but then they turn away and have quite obviously not said or done anything.
Okay.
I think we should put all the shackles and the things that kept us into the stew pot
because otherwise they'll say we escaped, but if there's no shackles,
they might think we were killed.
We're part of the stew, yes.
Let's put the goblins in there as well.
Clever.
Look, look.
All right, we check the two goblin corpses into the stew.
I stir it. No, don't.
Oh, you've stirred it.
You stir the pot, sure.
Anything float up to the top?
Nothing floats up. That's good.
Don't stir. Oh, God.
Okay, so do we see where
we were in terms of like a woods
or anything like that?
If you want, you can make another check.
You can have a look out again.
Quick look, just be like, oh, did you see where the woods were?
Like if we were to like get and run to the woods.
You did not see the woods and you had to look in every direction.
No.
No woods.
No woods.
Not even, we can't even dress up like goblins.
No.
We're so obviously not goblins.
Global, you realise that if
Tree Stump looked in every direction and didn't see
the woods, then there is one direction
that the trees could be, because
there is one direction that would have been obscured
for Tree Stump. Will the gang be
able to solve this riddle? Find out
next time on Stories of the Grey
Hill Free Company.
