Starting point is 00:00:00 Doug hates candy wrappers screening baby sticky seeds with 50 as a pop or hurdles in his teeth. They're still not one that he won't see. Because Doug loves movies. Hey, hey, hey everybody. My name is Doug and I love movies. This is Doug Lowe's movies recording on Sunday afternoon, July 28th, 2024.
Starting point is 00:00:28 And my guests today are two of the best and one more. Wow. I love them all. We've got Brandon Collins, Sam Levine and Amy Miller. Hey. Woo. Let's meet everybody individually and alphabetically by first name, which means I'm going to say,
Starting point is 00:00:53 Amy Miller is here. Hey, Amy. Hey, Doug. How are you doing? I'm pretty good. I'm in Las Vegas. Oh, you are? Oh, yeah, big time. Wow. There's going time Wow more here. I've been here for a week
Starting point is 00:01:10 To go oh sweet lord but I Bet you Spending that much time with Mark Coco Cohen isn't so bad. I love him to death Yeah, he's he's the best I love him to death. Yeah, he's the best. Anyway, he's never on this show because he can't, he doesn't remember anything about anything. You guys respond to weed in the opposite ways.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Well, I want to ask you a question, Amy, before we Move forward with all this movie talk today and that is do you have a current favorite? television show That you are watching currently Okay quality or hours spent It's a good follow question, I just want to know what you're into. I guess I have to say love Island USA, but I'm still behind on it because there's so many hours of it. Yeah. It's all like five days a week or some shit.
Starting point is 00:02:20 So I think I'm still like two weeks behind the finale, but I'm, I've done a lot of work catching up in Vegas Yeah, I mean I guess it's a smart thing to do just stay in your hotel room And not you know lose any money 115 degrees outside as well. So right, but you know the casino is not. The casino is nice and cool. Yeah, but it'll burn up your wallet. Oh yeah. All right. Well that's, uh, uh, you know, I, I was hoping for something maybe a little bit more intellectually stimulating, but that's what you get. that's what happens on TV is definitely
Starting point is 00:03:08 You know escape You know you go there for to escape so there's no better place than love Island USA Is there love islands in like there's love islands in lots of different countries. I know there's UK That's a really big one. It might have been before USA, but I haven't seen any other countries. It's interesting. They feel like they have to put the USA on there. Is the island in the United States? No, they're in Fiji and also half of them are not American. Half of them are not American.
Starting point is 00:03:53 It's hilarious. I'm a big America's Got Talent viewer. Really, the America part has just become a joke because they have all these amazing acts that are just shipped in from all over the world. Yeah. Probably in crates because it's really, uh, they're all just like these amazing circus acts that clearly grew up, grew up in the game, you know, Trafficking is what you're saying. It's what I'm using them up. Yes. Um, also joining us today,
Starting point is 00:04:21 Brandon Collins is back. Hey Brando. What's going on, Doug? Brandon Collins is back. Hey Brando. What's going on Doug? I'm happy to have you back. It's it's been a little bit of a while But I have the same question for you. Are you are you into a TV shows right now. I am I am I just started watching it took me a while to get there, but Shogun. And it is fantastic. I mean, between the costume design, the dialogue, the setting is just really interesting. I've never really dug into stuff that takes place in this time period with the conflicts with Christianity and stuff. It's amazing. And then the, don't even get me started on
Starting point is 00:05:02 the acting. Like, Anna Sawai,, man, she's going to be huge. Really? Yeah. Like she's fantastic. And like it's, it's such a great show. And I'm only three episodes in. All right. Now see how that's done. Amy, are you intellectually stimulated? Well, I was going to say Vanderpump rules,
Starting point is 00:05:25 but I saw how violently you reacted to Amy. I was like, nevermind. Nevermind. Yeah. Well, that was a safe space. I'm glad you were able to, uh, to pivot on that one. Uh, Sam Levine is still our champion. Will he ever lose? Hey Sam. Hi Doug. And I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point.
Starting point is 00:05:52 I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. You will be able to use the excuse of you're tired of winning just like Ken Jennings on Jeopardy, right? He just like he didn't know H&R block. Mm-hmm
Starting point is 00:06:09 That really was the answer that could that not came out Yeah, you guessed FedEx all these years later and I even got to ask him to his face. I'll never believe it What are you watching on TV Sam I'll give you the highbrow answer which is House of the Dragon What are you watching on TV, Sam? I'll give you the highbrow answer, which is House of the Dragon. That's highbrow? I guess. I don't know. It's very expensive.
Starting point is 00:06:31 That's probably the most expensively produced show that I watch. But then the answer that I know you're going to enjoy is Big Brother. Big Brother. The exciting thing about big brother to me and everyone in my household is that You know that they have these cams that you can watch, you know allegedly 24 7 and they turn them off for various reasons and they shoot different things but But yesterday these cams that are 24 seven were off for
Starting point is 00:07:06 nine hours. Oh my God. So I'm lodging a formal answers. I see people on, uh, you know, on the ex formally Twitter just going, we need to, uh, file a class action lawsuit or something because it is, uh, it is funny that, you funny that this thing that you're supposed to get, if you sign up for Paramount Plus, is it was off for nine hours out of the day yesterday. It was like this thing where it just kept coming on and off, so you can't even sit down and watch it for a little while, then it goes off again.
Starting point is 00:07:43 It would just constantly go to the will be right back. Right. But I feel like you're not a you don't watch the cams. You're not a what I call a feeder. I call him. I am not a feeder or feedster or whichever word is is the one. No, I just enjoy watching the show thrice weekly on CBS, terrestrial television, as the kids say. No, I'm sorry, the grandkids, the grandparents.
Starting point is 00:08:10 That's it, the grandparents. But yeah, that's what I enjoy. In the old days, I used to do, I mean, in the old, old days, you had to get a special application on your computer to watch the live feeds. Yeah. Yeah. The real player for those of us who were that old.
Starting point is 00:08:29 And I had that and I subscribed and it was a whole thing. And it just it takes over your life. But you could see more sex stuff back then. Yeah, OK. Oh, yeah, I'm all right. After all they do is they just talk about showmances constantly without really giving us any good ones. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:50 But yeah, it's such a different experience without watching the cams because they really do edit around certain things like things will happen and the TV series will just act as if it never happened. Yeah. Well, they also, didn't they like remove like pausing and rewinding on the feeds this season for the first time?
Starting point is 00:09:19 Because people keep getting caught saying slurs. Yeah. It's not as much slurs as it's, there's just a, just a long list of things they're not allowed to talk about in the house and they, of course they do anyway. And, you know, you can't even, you can't sing anything. It's like a recognizable song cause CBS doesn't, you know, want to pay for it or whatever. You don't have the rights. But yeah, so they're constantly cutting the cameras out. Like they're not allowed to discuss production,
Starting point is 00:09:51 which is like the number one topic in the house is discussing the production that they're a part of. Right. You know, so they're pontificating about what production is up to. They always cut away when they start to do that. And it's just, and now there's this lady, Angela, who's just an emotional mess. And so they're just, they're just not showing her, like her latest meltdown. They just cut away from it instead of letting us see it.
Starting point is 00:10:16 So to make us, to make us watch it either on the live show, I mean, their main show, or they can just pretend it didn't happen at all. So it's, it's definitely weird. Wow. I like to watch the feed sometimes because they're close enough to my house, that if they hear a helicopter, I'll hear it a couple seconds later. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Yeah. You know you're going outside and experiencing the same sun. In the old days, the house used to be at a different spot on the Radford lot. You could see into the backyard from the top of the parking structure. Anytime I had an audition or a meeting there, I'd always make sure to park on the top of the structure so that I could see into the backyard and you could scream to people. And that's when people were throwing tennis balls over the over the walls
Starting point is 00:11:10 with messages in them for the house guests. Yeah. Oh, yeah. To have a good thing. We used to fly over with banners giving them messages. They used to go be outside with bull horns and stuff. But now they really have cracked down, down clamped down on all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Comes less fun all the time, but, uh, um, but that it was a good answer. Yeah. And I wasted a lot of time on this show.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Yeah. All right. So before we get into the games, the other question I'd like to ask everybody is if they have a movie they would like to recommend. In fact, I implore you to recommend a movie. Amy, you go first. I just watched Boy Kills World, which I heard a rumor that you liked as well. Well, that's what my boyfriend said. She must have said it on the internet. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:11 It's true. I loved it. Little gory for me sometimes, but so fun. A lot of action, a lot of, uh, strange voiceover. Cause I don't know what, I don't know what Bob's Burgers has to do with this guy that's going around kicking everybody. But that's the voice in his head is H John Benjamin.
Starting point is 00:12:38 I guess you could, you could sit there and think it's the voice of Archer, I guess, if you want to, if you want to make it more appropriate for action, action. I think of him as coach McGurk. I loved it. Also his acting with zero speaking was incredible. Oh, that scars guard. Which one is it? Bill scars guard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard.
Starting point is 00:13:10 I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that was the biggest thing that I ever heard. I think that of the streamers yeah I think maybe we paid like
Starting point is 00:13:25 five bucks or something but yeah okay yeah cuz I know it was uh it was in theaters last like April I never really tracked how well it date or how popular it is but that's your recommendation so people should watch it. I agree. However, whatever they have to do to make it happen. Brandon, what would you like to recommend? Yeah, I recommend this Netflix gem that a lot of people forgot about because it was like during the strike and one of the actors had a severe like health scare that we still don't really know about. But that's type of a clone Tyrone.
Starting point is 00:14:02 I just recently rewatched this to star. Jabo Yaga has Jamie Foxx, Tiana Paris, and it's one of the most original things I've seen a long time. It's a dope blend of like blackploitation with sci-fi. It's just weird as hell. And like I I've been like digging into the script as well. Like it's it's such a dope movie and I wish that it got more attention when it came out because it's's like rare to see a sci fi comedy that is executed very well. Yeah. And another example of like, you know, what can't Jamie Foxx do? He's like so good in that movie and so good at, you know, the. Capturing that, like where you're talking
Starting point is 00:14:41 about the blaxploitation and the time period and uh yeah and then it's sci-fi like it is really it is it is a interesting movie and i gotta say it's impressive that uh jewel taylor the director got all these black folks to buy into like this weird world because sci-fi could be hard to pitch us sometimes like uh you think about will smith when he got pitched the matrix it's like i get why you passed on that. That sounds cuckoo bananas. Like I. Yeah. Well, I mean, all those, I mean, any actor agreeing to do any science fiction movie, it's like, you know, I think a lot of them say yes, they don't even necessarily, they, they're not worried about understanding, you know, as
Starting point is 00:15:22 long as they can say the words they're supposed to say, I guess the rest of it doesn't really have to make sense because, like, I think that the new, you know, I don't want to get it go into depth about it because it just opened the Deadpool and Wolverine. To me, they just get too stuck in the plot and the science fiction explaining what's happening. It was too much for me, but we'll see how people in general feel about it. Sam? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:59 What do you got for us? I know that you played a very long game prank on the show. It was not a prank. There was no prank. Well, you certainly weren't giving actual recommendations of actual films that you had actually watched. Some of them were actual recommendations. For what it's worth, I've seen every movie that I recommended. Okay. That's good that you said to alien
Starting point is 00:16:28 Aliens Versus red or I did Recreate been a couple years, but yes, I did Okay. Nope. So yes, this this one no code no riddle. No fancy little countdown my my Recommendation today is one of my all time favorites, the hunt for red October. Interesting. That's intense. Yeah. That is recently, I posted a picture on my Instagram of
Starting point is 00:16:58 the two, the poster for that and for crimson tide, the other submarine movie. Even though Crimson Tide was second, they had very similar artwork. I guess when you're talking about Russian submarines, you got to have red all over the poster. But the word Crimson and the word red, of course. That leads to similar posters, but
Starting point is 00:17:27 the movies themselves uh, it was quite a debate on my uh, You know on the thread underneath the post Uh of people preferring one over the other Do you like hunt for red october better than crimson tide? I do I definitely do All right. So tell us what it is that you why you love it so much. Because that movie had the guts to tell Sean Connery, you're going to be playing this very famous Russian subcommander,
Starting point is 00:18:00 but you're going to be speaking English and you can do it with your thick Scottish accent. That's fine. We're all fine with this. I didn't see Gene Hackman speaking with a Scottish accent when he spoke English in Crimson Tide. No. In Washington. True.
Starting point is 00:18:19 He didn't put on any Southern drawl. Nope. But neither of them are supposed to be foreign though. Haven't you learned, Sam, from watching motion pictures that if someone is a foreign character but the movie's in English, they're going to sound like they're from the UK. That's somewhere in the UK. Yeah. Somewhere from one of the kingdoms.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Valkyrie with Tom Cruise was Tom Cruise speaking in his regular accent. That was wild. Then all the Germans were British. I guess what I'm saying is I felt like that's the thing that Crimson Tide lacks for me is that variety of accent to choose from. Okay. Also, I just think it's the more exciting film. Of the two it's the more exciting. That's interesting. I you know I feel like the showdown between Denzel and Jean Ackman is hard to beat but I do remember finding on
Starting point is 00:19:19 Traitor and October would be very entertaining movie. Oh yeah. Back. So now I guess I might have to revisit it. Oh, you should, man. It's so good. But you also recommended Big Brother and that's I've got well, a thousand more hours of that to watch. OK, OK. Fair enough. And any order you see fit. I go. Maybe I'll watch The Hunt for Red October in October. Please wait until then.
Starting point is 00:19:48 I will. You can find it. Every year in January, I watch The January Man. Right? Every November. You watch Sweet November. April, I watch. April Fools.
Starting point is 00:19:58 April Fools. April movie. Or April Getting Married. No, Pieces of April. Pieces of April. That's it. Rachel Getting Married, Pieces of April, April getting married. Pieces of April. Pieces of April. That's it. Rachel getting married, pieces of April, April fools.
Starting point is 00:20:08 And in May or December, you can watch May, December. Isn't Pieces of April a Thanksgiving film? Yeah, it is. It doesn't matter. It's pretty wild. Yeah. Yeah. People who haven't seen it don't know it's a horror film where instead of a turkey they cook a lady named April
Starting point is 00:20:28 And everybody gets herself because that's how important is to please her new relatives or her incoming relatives I think she's like engaged to somebody and they have the families get together it boy. Is it it just doesn't go right? families get together. Boy, does it just doesn't go right. I can't believe it. I'd love to see a movie about Thanksgiving where there is an issue with cooking the turkey. The cooking gets cooked, it gets cooked and they eat it.
Starting point is 00:20:55 The story has nothing to do with that. There's no conflict. Everybody shows up on time. It's really good conversation throughout. Yeah. I think that's why there's no good Thanksgiving movies is because a realistic one would be a nightmare to watch like that one episode of the bear. Yeah. Yeah. That's what most Thanksgiving movies would be like.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Okay. So thank you for those recommendations. We got some fun games to play that we should have gotten through a few minutes ago, but what the hell? We're gonna take a quick commercial break. It will be right back We are back and these competitors are chomping at the bit We're just all just smack talking each other. And, uh, this is going to be an exciting set of games. We're going to play today and we're going to start with one of Sam Levine's favorites. Oh boy.
Starting point is 00:21:56 It's the little search engine that could, at least we're starting with it. At least we're starting with it. Boop, boop. Ha ha. Toot, toot. I typed a word into the search engine on IMDB yesterday. That's yesterday. So this is all according to IMDB yesterday.
Starting point is 00:22:18 I wrote down the top seven movies that have that word in the title. The three of you will take turns guessing. I'm going to give you a little bit of a preview of the movie. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started.
Starting point is 00:22:33 So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started.
Starting point is 00:22:41 So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. So let's go ahead and get started. it. All right, Amy, you're going to be first. And since I'm already seeing while watching Big Brother and other TV programs, I'm already seeing back to school ads on TV. It's that time of year where when you were in school, you were so mad that you're just trying to relax and watch some television. They keep reminding you that you have to go back to school
Starting point is 00:23:10 So I decided of course to use the word back Amy what's the top movie you think? According to IMDB yesterday. What do you think the top movie is with the word back in the title? Back to school Number four on the list back to school star Dangerfield is worth four points Amy is on the board. What a terrific start But now it's Brandon's turn
Starting point is 00:23:47 Yeah, I'm gonna go with bad to the future. That of course is the number one movie on the list. Oh, sure. That movie. Oh, that little thing. Oh, right. Worth seven points. Now this creates an interesting scenario for Sam Levine. Because what do you do, Sam?
Starting point is 00:24:11 How do you proceed? Um, I think it's back to the future is already taken. Where do you, where do you go next? It's a tough one, Doug. Boy, let me tell you, I'm going to say back to the future part two. You're going part two. I am going part two. Number three.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Oh, the whopping five points. Oh, everybody's on the board, but this is where it's going to get. Tricky. Amy, what else have you got? What's another movie with back in the title? I'm not going to say what you think I'm going to say. Back draft. Oh, very good.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Did not make the cut, unfortunately, but I'm putting a little smiley face in the middle of the zero that I'm writing down. That's all I need. Because that was such a, that was a really good, I, you know, I didn't even cross my mind backdrop, but of course, backdraft, uh, could be on here. Um, Brandon, what's your second guess? draft should be on here. Brandon, what's your second guess? OK, I think this counts, but Empire Strikes Back.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Oh, that's absolutely should count. OK. And but it didn't make the list. Oh, wow. OK. Yeah. I mean, you know, it's only the top seven out of probably, you know, a hundred movies with the word back in the title. That's wild. Interesting. But Sam, speaking of wild, we made it all the way back over to you. I am absolutely shocked. I clearly, I guess I had them in the wrong order. So back to the future part three.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Was that what we thought you were going to say, Amy, when you said, I'm were gonna say Amy when you said I'm not gonna say what you think I'm gonna say yes Well, you should have said it because it's number five on the Worth the three more points to Sam. So Sam now has taken the lead With I thought you were trying to lose Sam Sam. Well, this is just the first game, Amy. It is meaningless. Okay. I mean, he tried. He waited his turn before saying that.
Starting point is 00:26:31 It's true. I didn't change my name to Aaron. That you meant to say. We started today's proceedings. All right. So what are we missing? Number two? We got, if you got number two, that would rocket you to the top. If you got number six,
Starting point is 00:26:49 you would have to settle for probably third place. So you really need that number two. What do you think the number two movie is? I'm gonna try, I think this is what it's called, Men in Black 2, Back to Black. Jesus. Is that a different movie? I think it was just called Men in Black 2. I don't think they had further words.
Starting point is 00:27:19 What movie has Back to Black in it? Because that one is the one I mean. movie has back to black in it. Because that one is the one I mean. Oh, which black movie is that back in black as like something colon? I don't think you have anything back to black. Then it could be a different movie franchise. Wow. Yeah, I don't I don't know what back in black I
Starting point is 00:27:51 Think I might be a tagline. Oh, yeah. Oh, that's gotta be it Okay, I have a different guess okay Okay, can I say it? Yeah. I mean, you're all, I'm only allowing you to continue guessing because you've never really actually said the title of the movie. Correct. Absolutely correct. Okay. I'm going to say the way, way back. Ah, that was a nice one. Yeah. That's, um, uh, I'm glad you got there and I'm glad it's on the list. But unfortunately, it's number seven on the list. I'll take it.
Starting point is 00:28:30 So you got a respectable five point total. After that one. OK, Brandon. You have an idea what that number two might be. I doubt it's this, but it'd be hilarious if it is sister act two back in your habit. I was thinking of this to act two back in the black and white. Whoopie. That is not on the list. Again, a complete smiley face for that answer because that's a good one.
Starting point is 00:29:10 Sam, you're officially the winner of this game, but you want to rub it in and tell everybody what you think is the second movie on the list. I have no idea. They didn't make a, maybe it's like Back to the Future 4 in development. Could that have snuck in there? I would not have included that if they put that in there. Well, when- Because it's also not a development. Did you hear Zemeckis said, uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Uh-uh. Like, no more Back to the Future. Right. Which I'll believe it when I don't see it. I know there's the Mecca said, uh-uh, no more. Right. That's the future. Right. Which I believe that when I don't see it. I know there's the way way back, which was said. That's what I said.
Starting point is 00:29:51 I know. I know. But there's also a Ben Affleck movie called The Way Back. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's the basketball one. That's the basketball one. That's the only other back movie I can think of. I have one. Well, hang on. Let's wrap it up with Sam here and tell him that his answer did not make the list.
Starting point is 00:30:10 All right. But you still win. What did you think of Amy? Brokeback Mountain. Got to be number two. I mean, I honestly should be, but let's start with number six was a movie that now I've already forgotten who's in it, but it was like from last year called back in action. Yeah. Very, very forgettable. Whatever. I never saw it so I don't it had known actors in it but I yeah I don't know what it but it's a bad or anything and
Starting point is 00:30:52 then but you know that's those creep in there in this game because you know it's somewhat current so people are just probably looking it up like what the hell is this number, also currently just started streaming after a run in theaters. Amy, don't tell me it's a house movie. Oh, no. Back to literally. No. Oh, my God. God. Oh, lift it. I don't want to play this anymore.
Starting point is 00:31:22 I don't want to do this anymore. I don't want to do this anymore. I won. I was like, there's no way the Amy Winehouse movie beat Star Wars. Like there's, that's insane. That is, that is a crazy one for sure. But, uh, you know, the algorithm, the algorithm is wild. Uh, you think, you know, IMDb, you know, and it's just your heart breaks. It's crazy. It's a crazy system they have over there with their star meter. But Sam, congratulations for winning that game that you hate,
Starting point is 00:32:00 but that you're glad it was first. Well, you should be extra glad now because it means you get to go first in our second and final game today that we will play after these messages. We'll be right back. We are back and Sam has done it again. He gets to go first in a brand new game. Oh God. Sam loves a brand new game. He loves the old games. He loves all the games. I love all the games. You love them all.
Starting point is 00:32:35 So don't kid yourself. This is a game that I call the truth. Colin, can you handle it? And in this game, I'm going to hit you with a fun fact starting with Sam. And then Sam will tell me if he thinks that that fun fact is the truth or false. Those are your options. Truth or false. Okay. fun fact is the truth or false. Those are your options, truth or false. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:11 After Sam takes a go at the first one, then we'll go to Brandon. He'll get one all to himself and then the same with Amy and we'll repeat, uh, until someone has three correct answers, or we get to, we go through 10 questions and add up whoever's got the most. Of course there is a tiebreaker if that happens. Any questions? No.
Starting point is 00:33:42 I don't think so. Let's get baking, baby. You're gonna hit me, Doug. I'm afraid. All right,'s let's get bacon baby. Hit me Doug Afraid. All right. Here we go. All right Sam Levine, yes At one point the breakfast club was going to be called the lunch bunch Truth or false? At one point. I feel like that is not true.
Starting point is 00:34:22 You're calling it false. I am calling that false Doug well isn't this a glorious day because Sam that is the truth oh my god I don't think you can handle it I can't handle the truth all right. What's up? You're up first. Here's the question, or I should say the fact. You tell me if it's truth or false. All right.
Starting point is 00:34:55 It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world was nominated for six Academy Awards. Truth or false? I'm going to say true. You're going truth that that true insane comedy, dude, I haven't seen that movie in so long, but I remember a lot of people liking it and I didn't get it, but I remember it was critically acclaimed. So I'm going to guess it got a lot of Oscar attention, especially at what was
Starting point is 00:35:30 in 1960 or something. Yeah, I mean, you know, it was a classic and it was in, you know, the widescreen format that was, you know, very difficult to film, almost like the IMAX of its day, special cameras and all that business. And it was nominated for score, song, cinematography, sound, editing, and the sixth award was nominated for, and the one was for effects.
Starting point is 00:35:58 So that is correct. It is the truth. Brandon, you could handle it. Vam-bam-bam-bam. It is the truth. Brandon, you could handle it. Bam, bam, bam, bam. That was supposed to be my horn sound inside. That was good. Because it wasn't, you know, it's the horn sound. But it was like for people who don't like the horn sound,
Starting point is 00:36:17 like it hurts their ears. It's like it was a more gentle version of that. Have you seen now like some movie theaters, they'll do screenings where they intentionally leave the lights up and tell people they could do whatever they want? I have not. Within reason. I would lose my mind, Doug.
Starting point is 00:36:37 If I were to feel like that. I almost accidentally saw a movie like that when I just picked I, you know, just picked a random screening. Then when I found out that that's what they were going to do, I was like, I tapped as like, I'm not going to watch a movie with the, the lights not turned down. Yeah. It's just for reason just for, you know, people that just, uh, don't want to, you know, watch a movie. For people with other things to do while they're at the movies. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:08 They have their laptops out. Like, it's also like, they turn the sound down too. They don't play it as loud. I'm not making this up. I'm not making this up. That's so crazy. Yeah. But you know, cause they're offering all sorts of different things these days, just to incentivize people, but you know, cause they're offering all sorts of different things these days just to, to incentivize people, but get people to show up. Yeah, I think so. I agree. Okay. Amy, are you ready? Ready? Here's your first question. Truth or false?
Starting point is 00:37:36 Tom Cruise was born on the 3rd of July. That is true, Doug. Have you, did you know that or you just guessing he feels like a cancer to me Wow I know that and it is true cancer and he's an asshole yeah tell. Oh, geez. All right. Maybe tell us how you really feel. The star of fourth born on the fourth of July was in fact born on the third of July. So Amy is on the board with another point. Sam. Man, I got to pick up the slack here.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Could you ask me one that I happen to know that you just happen to know? OK, let's Tom Cruise being born on the third of July. So close. Let me give you one. You just happen to know. OK, let's Tom Cruise being born on the third of July. So close. Let me give you one. You just happen to know. OK, great. All right. Tom Selleck's feature film debut was in a movie called Hearts and Bones. Thanks, Doug. This right. You just you know what Tom Selle Tom's first movie was. It was Hearts and Bones.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Everyone knows that. But it's been three trues in a row, then it can't you can't have four trues in a row. So I'll say false. That's your reasoning. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. But it's been three trues in a row then it can't, you can't have four trues in a row. So I'll say false. That's your reasoning. That's my only, I have no idea. Wait, is false your true answer or you're trying to lose? Oh God, no, I don't.
Starting point is 00:39:18 I'm so confused with your heart, Sam. My heart was false only because I have no idea about the answer to the question. Then when you say true because you're because you don't want to win? I Am saying Well that turns out to be the correct Hearts and bones is but that is not Tom Selleck's feature film debut. Is that a movie he's in at all, or is that somebody else's film debut?
Starting point is 00:39:52 Yeah, I don't think he's in it at all. Okay. It might not even really be a thing. I don't know. I just know that. You made up hearts and bones. I just know that that was false. It was false.
Starting point is 00:40:02 It put Tom Selleck in it. Okay. Yeah. Right. No, I'm gonna see it. I think I've seen that that was false. It was. Yeah. It put Tom Selleck in it. Like, yeah, right. It's false. I think I've seen that as a double feature with the lunch bunch. All right. Brandon is up next. Everybody's got a point, but Brandon got his first. So he's in good position here.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Brandon, Jennifer Aniston's pet ferret in a long came Polly was her actual pet ferret truth or false oh God I'm gonna go with false False question mark I don't know. She that's definitely down the middle. She Jennifer Aniston is definitely a person who could maybe have her own ferret, but then I'm like, that's insane. If Jennifer Anderson had her own ferret and no one knew about it before along came
Starting point is 00:40:52 by. So I'm going to go with it's not true. False. Well, detective Collins, you've figured this one out because that is true that it is false. I would say that's true. I would say that's true. I would say that's true. I would say that's true. I would say that's true. I would say that's true. I would say that not true. False. Well, Detective Collins, you've figured this one out because that is true.
Starting point is 00:41:07 That it is false. I would have to say it's well, isn't it illegal in California to own a ferret? No, people do, though. Especially it's California. Then JD Vance would call her a childless ferret lady. That would be fun. And so the movie's so funny because the ferret, you know, in the movie is supposed to be blind. And so it's just a running gag that the ferret will just be running along and just smash into a wall.
Starting point is 00:41:43 And I just I think actual blind ferret wouldn't do that. I think it would, you know, smell the wall or whatever. Like we're just run into walls. But I was my least favorite part. That's my least favorite part of that movie. But like you just remind me how funny Philip Seymour Hoffman was in that movie. Oh, yeah. Amazing in it. He was definitely in the movies worth a watch
Starting point is 00:42:07 but it's you know, it's a little too much of the gross out like, you know toilet toilet humor and And it's true. The ferret is just like it's just like they had that point they'd run out of things to give a you know, the the Female lead in a romantic comedy. She has to be you know, she has to be the manic pixie girl or whatever. Ferret was definitely the end of the line for weird things that a character could have. Then they made it blind on top of it. All right. Well, Amy,
Starting point is 00:42:42 you're going into this next question blind. we'll see if you can get it. Brandon's really applying the pressure now because he's got to write. Michael J. Fox's middle name is Andrew. Truth or false? So stupid. I'm going to say false. I'm going to be so mad because it's stupid. Oh no. Because it's it's J. Right. Right. It's true. It says it does have a J right there in the middle of it. I didn't say Jandrew. I said Jandrew.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Jandrew. But I'm sorry, Amy. That is the truth. Oh, no. Yeah. It's true. Yeah. It's true because he went, you know, to sign up with SAG and they were like, Mike Fox, Mike, Michael Fox is taken. And so then there's like you have to use a middle initial and he didn't want to be called Michael A Fox.
Starting point is 00:44:04 Why? Because he, you know, he is a he was he was what he got at the time. He was a kid. He was like he was playing. He was Pudgier. I mean, he wasn't he wasn't the heartthrob yet, but he got but he picked his name. But yeah, Michael A. Fox sounded too conceited. So he went with Michael J. Little offended as a as a pudgy heart from
Starting point is 00:44:31 No, he's also Canadian if that helps, okay, so Sam yeah Is your chance to tie it up with Brandon if you get this one right? Didn't I just tie it up? I think you just have one right so far. You got one right and one wrong. If somebody gets it wrong, the next person, I must have misunderstood the rules. Something like that.
Starting point is 00:44:55 I thought when you were explaining the rules as opposed to games where it could be one of three possible things. This was one where it was only one of two possible things. Yes. You get it wrong and we move on. You got one right and one wrong. Brandon got two right and Amy's got one right so far. That's fine. Now we're back to you.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Understood. You have to get this one. I boy the pressure's on. Here we go. Okay. Weird Al. Here we go. Okay. Weird Al was valedictorian of his high school. Truth or false?
Starting point is 00:45:38 Seems like you know a lot about weird. I, you know, I, I am very friendly with Who is and who isn't who would be unfriendly to weirdo? I just I want them last week. We have brunch and Really? And I know I know Al is very very smart I can't say that I know this with certainty, like I knew, you know, Tom Cruise was born in the third of July.
Starting point is 00:46:12 But I guess I'll say with like 85 to 90 percent certainty. Yes, I believe it is true that he was high school valedictorian. You think that Al Yankovic was a la dictoria. A la dictoria. That's what I said.
Starting point is 00:46:30 That's what I said. That's what I said. That's why it's such a funny question. And the answer is truth. He was. And he did it at 16 years of age. He graduated school. Damn. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:50 He got out early and was smarter than two grades above him. All had to sit there and look at him going, I'm smarter than all of you. It's like, who is this guy? You dumbasses. Like you're fine now. All right. Yeah, I was got two now. So Brandon, if you get this next one, right, you win the game and the day, but if you miss
Starting point is 00:47:14 it and, uh, then yeah, then we have to continue. I Unobtainium from the movie avatar is a real element Unobtainium from avatar. Yeah, they talk all through the movie about we got to get some of that unobtainium And they're like how are we gonna obtain that of an unobtainium? I don't know. It's unobtainable and Like, how are we going to obtain that of an unobtainium? I don't know. It's unobtainable. And. So I have to say that we are all men or not. I'm going to go with true, because that seems like some weird thing that James Cameron would add in to just throw off people.
Starting point is 00:48:01 I think this is fictional, but actually it's real. I'm the guy who made Titanic. Don't forget. So I'm gonna go with true. It's amazing how your logic led you to the incorrect answer. No, God was the logic was impeccable, but then the answer was wrong because, because James Cameron did use a real word that actually existed,
Starting point is 00:48:25 but it is not an element. Uh, it's not actually an element. Yeah. Take a joke. That was a, but that was a, that was beautiful. That was exactly what we look for in this game. I saw vulnerable there and I came up short. Well, that was that drawing. game. I saw vulnerable there and I came up short. This is so exciting because Amy has a chance to tie it up with Sam and the fourth Sam. He's gotta get the third one right to win. So Amy, please get this one right.
Starting point is 00:49:05 Please. It's okay. It's okay. It's in the same boat either way pretty much, but it's still fun to ask you this one. The climax of the parallax view takes place on the T.O. Tower in Toronto. OK, I've never seen this movie before. I've heard the name, but I don't know anything about it. It's Tom Selleck. No, wait, I don't know. I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure it's not either.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Is Michael Jandry Fox because he's Canadian. So then, okay. Well, I'm going to say true. You're going to say true that the climax of the parallax view takes place on TO tower. It sure does Doug. Everybody knows that. I'm sorry, Amy.
Starting point is 00:50:12 It's not true. Oh man. Sam. The climax of the parallax view takes place on the top of the space needle in Seattle. Oh yeah. I've never seen that. It's an exciting scene. Warren Beatty is just running around on top of the space
Starting point is 00:50:31 needle. Bad guys are trying to push him off of it. Oh Warren Beatty, that's a tall glass of milk. All right, Sam. Oh God. If you get this one right, All right, Sam. Oh, God. If you get this one right, you win the game and today and your championship, your endless championship continues. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Thank you. I'm so glad it's basically going to come down to a coin flip. If you miss it, but no, if you miss it, well, sometimes it's more than a coin flip. Sometimes it feels like you know the answer and it's wrong. Yeah. But Sam. Yep. Like I say, you get this one, you win.
Starting point is 00:51:12 But if you don't, then Brandon gets final shot at glory and he could end up taking this thing. Okay. So get it right, dude. Done. Eddie Murphy. Heard of him once or twice. He's Jim Carrey, Jim Carrey. Yep. He used to be an actor and. He only comes out for the great roles now, so you're only going to see him in
Starting point is 00:51:44 Sonic movies. And Kirsten Dunst. Have all three of them have played vampires in motion pictures. Doug, you've asked me one that I know. The three films are Once Bitten, Vampire in Brooklyn and the one with Tom Cruise, Interview with the Vampire. So that is true. Well, it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:52:16 There's some of the rules I don't share because they're just sort of like the fine print at the bottom and like the guests don't know about it. But I do have a rule in this game that if someone gives a show off the answer they're eliminated. No, that's correct. Sam Levine, you are our winner today. Congratulations. You did it. You get to do your plus.
Starting point is 00:52:44 What would you like to promote, Sam? Well, once again, of course, City of Dreams, the very intense film about human trafficking that I may or may not be in, is opening on August 30th in theaters somewhere. And of course, I'm on Cameo. That's for sure. That's for sure. The other thing is like the other thing. I don't know. Big mystery.
Starting point is 00:53:08 They keep not telling me anything. So I'm just guessing. Okay. Well, that's very nice of you to promote the thing that they're not telling you about. Yep. Um, you're, you're, uh, you're a good man. Team player, whether or not I'm on the team. Uh, Amy Miller. Yes, thank you for being here there. What would you like to tell people to to do?
Starting point is 00:53:36 Where can they see you? Oh, well, follow me on Instagram at Amy Miller Comedy, and then I'll be in Cincinnati soon and New Orleans, all kinds of places. Amy Miller Comedy dot com. Yeah, wherever you are, just go look her up and see when she's going to come through and then buy tickets and then, you know, if you're not feeling up to it, don't go. But at least you bought the tickets Oh and apologies to the Doug loves movies fans that came to see me in Vegas at the most unruly
Starting point is 00:54:12 drunkenest show Barely could get through a joke. Wow, there was a lot of talking You afterwards you're like we came because we love you on Douglas movies. Well, yes Well, she tweeted at me, but she also raised her hand during my set to tell me She was very disappointed And how everyone was talking? Oh No, oh my god We love Vegas. Don't we that's what supportive heckling she was doing
Starting point is 00:54:41 I love Vegas, don't we? That's what supportive heckling she was doing. Yeah, they seemed very sad, but they were very nice. And I'm sorry. Come see me in a real place that's not this place. God, I gotta love a raised hand in the audience. I get that kind of a lot. Right? Because you have to call on them, right?
Starting point is 00:55:04 You can't just sit there and look at it and not call on them Yeah, I think I look too much like a teacher and people just think that I've had a few hands raised at my shows My favorite was when I was a tour guy at Universal Studios, a lady raised her hand during the walking tour part and said, and I called on her because I was so surprised somebody would do that. Because usually people aren't interested in anything I'm saying, but she raised her hand and I thought, okay, this is going to be interesting.
Starting point is 00:55:39 She goes, are we going to see any celebrities today on the tour? Then I gave the stock answer again, well, this is a working studio and there's lots of those in production and movies. So yeah, perhaps you might. So keep an eye out. And she goes, no, but really, are we going to see any for sure? And I was like, you know, you just have to take your chances. Like, you know, you just have to take your chances like maybe you will.
Starting point is 00:56:06 Then she really brought it home with, well, then what is the point of all of this? While I'm trying to explain special effects or whatever it was I was talking about at the time, she was only there for one thing, one thing only. Brandon Collins, what would you like to He was only there for one thing. One thing only. Brandon Collins, what would you like to what would you like to promote today? Absolutely. I have my one man show
Starting point is 00:56:32 coming up in New York City on Friday, August 23rd called Air Seinfeld. It's about my wife growing up in suburbs as a black kid raised by crazy conservatives. You get tickets for that at Frodo Blackins dot com. And if you want to hear me talk about

He's never going to be defeated and we just have to get used to it. Sorry. He's the Aledictorian of this show.
Starting point is 00:57:43 Sorry guys. Sam's here, he's near aledictorian of this show. Sorry guys. Sam's here, he's near, get used to it. But thanks everybody for listening and for my final line from Emotion Picture today, I've chosen the last thing that is said in Back to the future part three by Doc as played by Christopher Lloyd as probably the last thing that's ever going to be said in a back to the future movie. Cause some Mecca says no more. He'd rather make that movies making. He just made with Tom Hanks where the camera never moves.
Starting point is 00:58:26 Oh God, indeed. I was wondering what was going on with that trailer and I was, and now that you told me Doug and my own, no. Yeah, no, he just keeps the camera locked in one spot in a room and it takes place over like a 60 year period or something. It's going to be like four hours. Oh God. I'm still going to see it, but. His movies usually aren't too long. They're just too he's just too into the
Starting point is 00:58:53 Experimental like I love him to just make more of a straightforward Movie, but you know, God bless him. He's doing his thing as always No already been there.
