Starting point is 00:00:00 Doug Hey, hey everybody, my name is Doug and I love movies This is Doug loves movies recording on Sunday afternoon, August 25th, 2024. My guests today are a returning champ and two champs in my heart. They are Greg Fitzsimmons, Matt O'Brien and Johnny Taylor Jr. Hello, gentlemen. Hello. I'm so happy. I'm a champ in your heart. It's a great place to be one. Oh, I'm so happy I'm a champ in your heart.
Starting point is 00:00:47 That's a great place to be one. Let's meet everybody individually and alphabetically by first name. He reached out to me because he's got something to promote. It's Greg Simmons. Well, listen, I reach out to you even when I have nothing to promote. I enjoy our time.
Starting point is 00:01:04 I enjoy setting the bar low for the other players. Well, you are great at that. And what is it that you're so excited to promote? Well, I'm very excited. I'm putting out my first stand up special in about eight years. It's called It's called, you know me, which I don't know if you do, if you're listening, but it's out on YouTube. I recorded it at the mothership in Austin, Texas, and it will not get on the algorithm because it's filthy. So I need people to actually tune in from podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Okay. That seems like a legit way to go about it. I'm gonna the the actual second game. We're playing today is all about Naughty things that happen in movies, so This is the perfect platform for your filthy dirty comedy I'm glad there's no video today then Dirty comedy. Well, I'm glad there's no video today then Also joining us today is returning jab Donny Johnny Taylor jr. Hey Johnny. Hello. How's it going Doug? Thanks for having me back. Oh, it's great to have you back. Are you still riding high from your win at roosters in Sunnyvale? you know it
Starting point is 00:02:22 at roosters in Sunnyvale? You know, it's been two weeks and you know, enough bad stuff has happened since then that I'm not really even celebrating it anymore. But if I get the win today, we'll be back in the saddle. You'll be back on top. We had a great time in Sunnyvale. So fun. At roosters and I'm to try to go back there like
Starting point is 00:02:47 soon, like this year maybe. Yeah. It was the best time. Uh, yeah, that one was, they couldn't have been much better. I don't think, no, it was a, it was a hot crowd and, uh, I want to, uh, I want to just bottle that magic and experience it again sometime. Yeah, it's awesome Thirdly, but not lastly we've got by my
Starting point is 00:03:14 Calculations both a first-timer on the show and a Canadian It's Matt O'Brien hey, Matt Matt. Both are correct. Thank you. Also very excited to be headlining the intros. Last intro. This is great. That's for last. Of course. Great to be here. Also, did you know about the Atari thing at Rooster Teeth Feathers? That was the first place that ever had Atari. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Oh, you mean the town? No, it's like the first ever like computer Atari was played in that venue. Yeah, I see. It used to be an arcade. Yeah. And OK. Yeah, yeah. Rooster Teeth Feathers does sound like an arcade, but I bet it was called something more dignified when it was an arcade. But I bet it was called something more dignified when it was an arcade So I
Starting point is 00:04:11 Was correct about you being on the show for the first time you've done My podcast with the you know the weed show you've done that Yeah, you brought us in when when weed was legal in Canada that day And I was told by people in the comments that I was the most chatty high person that's ever been on the show. So, whoa, that's speaking of bars. That's a high one. I can't believe you would get over that. I think that person was exaggerating because I don't remember being annoyed by you. And I had plenty of people that get very annoying when they're high. Yeah, it was a sativa. So you know what you expect? Well, good luck to you here today Before we play some games. I would like each one of you to recommend a movie one movie
Starting point is 00:04:58 any kind of movie just something that you like something that You are happy to, you know, tell others about. We'll start with you, Greg. Well, there's a Stacey Keech movie from back in. I can't remember the year, but it was I think it was in the early 70s called Fat City. And it was directed by John Houston. And it's just the most gritty look it's set in. Oh, God, what town is it in California?
Starting point is 00:05:35 It's set in like a real. But it's a tough town in California, and he's not not Sunnyvale. That's what you're saying. Not Sunnyvale. Now, I see Stockton or something. Bakersfield. No, something just like that. Modesto.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Oh, that's the worst. No, we have a lot. We have a lot of dusty cities in California, but especially if it's a period piece. Yes. But it's great. It's a great boxer movie. If that's your genre, which is probably a good category for your show. I'm sure you've had a boxer movie category before. Yeah, it's probably come up.
Starting point is 00:06:15 It's, you know, we're coming up on next month will be the show's 18th anniversary. Geez Louise. So I don't think there's any kind of movie we haven't spoken of or played games around. Now I just go back and pull old games and play them again. I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Everything is new, at least my version of new because of course I can't remember everything. But Fat City, directed by the great John Houston. I it was no longer with us, but a giant in the world of filmmaking Johnny Can you possibly top that and I'll tell you right now if you say long legs again. I'm gonna crawl I'm not I'm gonna crawl through this phone
Starting point is 00:07:09 I'm not I'm not gonna I think we're safe I'm actually gonna go with barbarian from 2022 another another horror just because I like to Rally the insufferable whore nerds out there Directed by Zach Kroeger. He was you know, he was in the widest was, you know, he was on The White Kids, you know, this is directorial debut. And it's a fucking fun time. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Did you watch it, Doug? Do you like it? I did that, you know, Justin Long's been a frequent guest on the show and then also the dude who played what was he called in the movie Mother. Yes, that guy that played What was he called in the movie mother? Yeah, that guy that played mother he was also on Douglas movies and Barbarian much like your beloved long legs from last time you're on they both come up a lot in the
Starting point is 00:08:03 recommendation portion of the show especially in October when I ask everybody to focus on horror movies there You like the most beloved ones. I think Johnny. I like ones that people hate too Well, that's the thing is even the most beloved ones have their their haters, right, you know like barbarian people really get kind of Weird about the tonal changes that it has because it's kind of comedic and
Starting point is 00:08:38 Doesn't seem like a horror movie for a patch of it right, but Yeah, I you know I just I Like I'll try any horror movie, but it's just not It's coming less and less my genre of choice just because of all those Buildings just the building suspense parts are boring to me like you want to I want to get to it just get to it. Yeah That's why I love the Terrifier movies. I'm just kidding. I haven't seen the Terrifier movies.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Oh, I love them. But right. Those are pretty relentless. Oh, yeah. Completely. All right, Matt, what have you got? We've got modern horror and old boxing. I guess maybe I'm right in the middle. I the other night I watched Dream scenario with Nick Cage. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:09:27 I didn't, I heard of it, but then late night just kind of turned it on and I loved it. I thought it was really fun and weird. And also there's a scene where Nick Cage comes and farts. And so what more do you want? It's spoiler, I guess I should have said before that. So you're saying he arrives somewhere and then he farts?
Starting point is 00:09:48 I, you know, sure. Depending on who's listening to this, yes. If it is truly the greatest come fart in the history of cinema. Yeah. And I can't name very many, but that's what that's out there. Might be the only one which you know That's how you achieve greatness is by being the only yeah, you know There's nobody else doing that disgusting act on screen, but it is you're right that it's
Starting point is 00:10:17 Somehow a charming moment, which is real. Well, I heard the next Olympics the US is trying to introduce that as a sport comforting I heard the next Olympics the US is trying to introduce that as a sport Yes, I Thought I thought the comfort and passion of the Christ was amazing. It was subtle. It was really subtle when he was up there Snuck it out. Yeah For the flowing robes, oh my god Dream scenario I saw that film at a festival and talked it up quite a bit before it came out because it is it's not perfect a lot of people might feel like the ending isn't satisfying, but it's a fun trip.
Starting point is 00:11:07 And I was thinking about when you said you, you know, watched it at night, like it'd be an interesting movie to watch and then go to sleep. Yeah. That's what I did, which was probably the wrong thing to do. But did you dream about dream scenario? No, I didn't. No, just the regular old nightmares, career fueled nightmares. Thank God. But that was it.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Greg Fitzsimmons, are you familiar with this movie? Matt O'Brien speaks of. I know I'm not a horror guy at all. I don't think I've seen one since the Exorcist. Well, this is a Nicholas Cage. It's more of a psychological horror. It's not really like a jump scare.
Starting point is 00:11:50 You know, it's not a typical horror movie. Wait, is it because I said Comfort? You thought it was a horror movie? It is, right. Yeah. I was horrified, so I just assumed. Yeah. No, this is more of a, I mean know it's definitely creepy and it's got a
Starting point is 00:12:06 Interesting tone to it, but it's also it's funny and it's just yet another Nicholas cage like full commitment Performance. Yeah, so if you get a chance Greg Check it out and I don't know if that city's available anywhere, but Probably is so Check it out, and I don't know if fat city's available anywhere, but Probably is so Listeners check out all all three. I can't argue with any of those movies as far as Recommending them goes they're all worth seeing I think
Starting point is 00:12:45 But I need some more time to process so So we're going to take a break and be right back. This episode is brought to you in part by diet smoke. Hey listeners. Yeah. Starting point is 00:14:07 That's WWW diet smoke calm promo code DLM back to the show We're back and I thought about your recommendations and they were shit They were shit. Like like just having to wait through the commercials, like I just did, just turned me into a gave me a bad mood and a headache. The first game we're going to play today is something that I call only movies in the building. There's a TV show called Only Murders in the Building
Starting point is 00:14:43 that is on Hulu And it is returning for season 4 on Tuesday, so I thought I would create a game Based on that show and it's it's pretty simple We'll start with Greg he misses then we go to Johnny Johnny misses we go to Matt and There's only three possible answers so Matt could get a point in the first round of the first two guys they'll get it I'll name a movie an actual movie
Starting point is 00:15:19 That exists and you tell me if that movie has a performance by Steve Martin, Martin Short or Selena Gomez. No, no, no. She has my well of Gomez films is a little shallow. So what you might want to do is say to yourself, you might want to be like Fitz Dogg. That title doesn't sound like a Steve Martin or Martin short movie. So I'm going to say, you know, that kind of thing. You know, process of elimination.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Yeah, got it. You know how you're a game show guy. Yes. You know, it's a big. First person to get three of these right or the most after six is our winner But a tiebreaker is waiting In the shadows. All right, Greg Do you watch only murders in the military? Yes And I hear it what a what a cast for this year. I'm looking at all the red carpet stuff Zach is in it this year and
Starting point is 00:16:24 I forget I was very impressed by that. Eugene. Eugene Levy. Right. Canadian. Yeah. And Kumail Nanjiani's joining the cast in like episode three. And yeah, it's stacked with comedic talent and I enjoy it very much. So I'm always talking it up.
Starting point is 00:16:48 You've seen it, Johnny. Yeah, I do like it. Enjoyable. Love that. Love that. Martin short. Love that. Love that.
Starting point is 00:17:00 Zach. Yeah. Greg, does this make Greg laugh? You know, Johnny does shows a lot with Brian plus saying and they just pass that energy baton He hands the microphone of Brian he goes follow that motherfuckers real live wire Johnny finished his set by like this next guy is gonna take the energy up a very slight notch Johnny finished his set by like this next guy is gonna take the energy up a very slight notch Okay, so Greg you're up first either Martin short Steve Martin who the two of them would they were just born to work together because you could just say Steve Martin short
Starting point is 00:17:42 And you get them both in there other because you could just say Steve Martin Short and you get them both in there. And a Selena Gomez, which, like you said, who isn't a big fan of Selena and her entire oeuvre? Greg, which one of them was in kid movie, doesn't it? Doesn't it sound like a like, like, like there's a there's a kid that needs a kidney and there's a snowstorm and there's a flight, but the townspeople have to shovel the runway. But he crosses his heart. He's going to get her there. That sounds, that sounds like Steve Martin. You started off saying it sounds like a kid's kids. No, but he always plays a parent. Oh, I see. He's the parent of his kid.
Starting point is 00:18:38 This kid is starring of the heart condition. Yeah. Kidney, sorry. Wait a second. What did we call it? Why is it called Cross My Kidney? That's incorrect, Greg. You'd laugh your way to the back of the line. Johnny, with your remaining options, Selena Gomez or Martin Short,
Starting point is 00:19:06 which one do you think was in a movie called Cross My Heart? I have no idea, but I will say, Cross My Heart sounds, it seems like I would have heard of a Selena Gomez movie called Cross My Heart, and I don't remember it. So I'm going to take a wild guess. I've never seen this movie. I'm going to go with Martin Short on a pure wild guess.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Let me get my little sound effect. It means you got the right answer. Yes, you did it. All right. Lucky. Oh, I like that you started with, you know, if it was a Selena Gomez movie, I think I would have heard of it. Yeah, that would really fly under your radar. I know that. But but they Martin Short, of course, I know that but but they Martin Short of course a great comedic actor but this movie I don't think it got much attention because it was him and the actress Annette O'Toole in a it was like a rom-com from 1987 and the poster is
Starting point is 00:20:20 just like them embracing and it's just so funny to think today about Martin Shorten, about how it's very hard to take him seriously. He's always hilarious. But- 87 was a big year for rom-coms. It feels like every movie that was made was a rom-com. The 80s in general were way too rom-com heavy. Yeah That's what just happened with a couple of rom-coms just came out in the last year or so they did pretty good
Starting point is 00:20:53 So I think we're gonna start being inundated with them again, but we're back. Yeah, exactly Matt yeah, you're up first Here's the next film that features Martin Short, Steve Martin or Selena Gomez. And the film is called Pure Luck. Oh, man, that sounds like a kid kind of movie, too. Pure Luck. Absolutely no idea. I got to say, um, found Selena Gomez.
Starting point is 00:21:27 It reeks of Gomez. You got that? Got that Gomez sense on it. Got the stank of Gomez on it for sure. Okay, Matt, that is not correct. Okay, we don't talk that way about Selena. Greg, with that one eliminated, continue to use your masterful power of elimination and tell me which of the Martins it is short or Steve and give me the name of the film again. Pure luck, pure luck. All right. This answer will be pure luck. And I'm going to say that definitely sounds like a Steve Martin romp.
Starting point is 00:22:08 That sounds like, you know, he did magic when he was younger. I think there's a lot of, there's a lot of luck. There's a lot of fantasy with Steve Martin. It's him. Martin. It's him. I mean, I can't argue with the logic, but I can tell you that that answer is incorrect. It's unbelievable. It's uncanny how bad I have it. I think I know it.
Starting point is 00:22:38 I think I know this one. Johnny seems like he's really figured it out. Who's in pure luck Johnny? Yeah I'm gonna guess Martin Short. That's just a guess. Actually I knew this I think Danny Glover's in this movie. Is that right? It is. Speaking of trends in movies this was from 1991 and the cop buddy thing was just out of control. And so this is a movie with Martin Short and Danny Glover. Yeah, I remember this movie.
Starting point is 00:23:11 Actually, you remember this forgettable movie idea. You still you got the point, even if you hadn't remembered it. You got the point out of pure luck. Pure, pure luck. They're going to do the black guy, white guy, buddy comedy, get your own black guy. That's that's Bruce Willis's black guy. That's right. Smell Gibson's black guy. He's all of ours.
Starting point is 00:23:36 There was that one they got and they screwed up and they got they got the the white guy from the Eddie Murphy Nick Nolte combo. They grabbed the wrong one. They got Nick Nolte to be in a buddy movie with Martin Short. And that was called Three Fugitives. And they but that when they added that extra magic of having a small child, they're trying to take care of three men in a fugitive, the third the third fugitive, if you will.
Starting point is 00:24:09 OK, so Johnny's just roaring ahead in this game with two points. But Matt, here's your chance to get on the board. Fantastic. Can't wait. Martin Shore, Steve Martin or Selena Gomez. Which one was in a motion picture called The Pebble and the Penguin? Okay, it sounds like you're just making up movies at this point.
Starting point is 00:24:33 This is a real movie. I gotta talk this one through just like Greg Fitzsimmons, Pebble and the Penguin. It's a CGI thriller about a penguin finding a rock that he's very excited about. It's voiced by its fantasy. So it's got to be I think it's Martin Short again. I think you're screwing us over on this. I think every single one is Martin Short.
Starting point is 00:24:59 You think Martin Short is the voice of the pebble? Yes. And Selena Gomez is the penguin. Maybe it's both. Well, you really the power of reason there was quite strong. It's quite strong in you. And that is the correct answer. I freaking knew it. Wow.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Martin Short is a voice in the animated film Pebble and the Penguin from 1995. Huge fan of that particular film. I know nothing about it other than, I mean, I know two things. Yes, and what are those? Pebble, Penguin. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:25:39 All right. But that could be, it could even be one of those titles where there's never, you know know never a pebble or a penguin Just spending two hours waiting to see a pebble Kind of like that who song that the word the title doesn't come up in the song at all Alright Greg yeah, you're up. You could do this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:26:08 A simple wish. A simple wish. Sounds like somebody needs a kidney. Is there snow? Is this another winter one? Or is this one in the summertime. I'm picturing Selena Gomez. She's looking a little pale her lips are blue There's a snowstorm and And she's the star it's just this is Selena Gomez film one of her best by the way
Starting point is 00:26:44 I don't know what you might be confusing it with but One of her best, by the way. I don't know what you might be confusing it with, but that is not a Selena Gomez film. Johnny, it isn't. Doug, you know, I I can't help but notice that, uh, Greg doesn't catch up on patterns. I'm going to go with, I'm going to go with Martin short on this one. Wait, you think that just every answer is going to be Martin short. That's what I'm really starting to do. I could be wrong, but I'm good.
Starting point is 00:27:24 You could, you could be right. That is the correct answer. No, already short strike. This isn't a game. This is not a game. This is just us saying Martin short. I mean, when you look at their careers, like Steve Martin is like a lot of his titles are wildly, you know, and strangely notable or memorable. And Selena Gomez, you know, she's had a film career, but most of her work's been in TV and, um, yeah. So Martin short just had a string of movies that, uh, nobody remembers, but let's see if Matt can catch up with this next one.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Martin short, Steve Martin or Selena Gomez. A motion picture called Get Over It. Oh, come on. Okay. Is this the turning point where we? Okay. Get over it. One has to ask oneself. I am the one asking that.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Would he? My one do only Martin Short movies for the entire thing? Or is it now is now the time to mix it up? Oh, you know what? Would he my one do only Martin Short movies for the entire thing? Or is it now is now the time to mix it up? Oh, you know what? I do know this. Get over it. Martin Short plays a like drama teacher or something. It's very funny.
Starting point is 00:28:37 I remember this. This is Martin Short. This is. That is correct. Yeah, let there be another round. Wow. Wow. All right. That's on the board. Probably won't catch up to Johnny, but Greg is a spoiler because he gets to go next.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Okay. but Greg is a spoiler because he gets to go next. Okay. Greg, which one of those three uses their voice talent in a motion picture called Horton hears a who? Hmm. Well, that's obviously a kids movie, but there's adults in it. Horton hears a who. Dr. Seuss. I think that's with Cindy.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Is that with little Cindy Lou who I think it's going with little Cindy Lou who that's the that's the Grinch. That's the one with the Grinch. Yeah, I'm on a roll. Don't stop me. I'm going to stick with my girl. It's Selena Gomez. Oh my god. I'm gonna stick with my girl. It's Selena Gomez. Oh my god Okay, so you're gonna totally disregard the absolute pattern
Starting point is 00:29:55 That's been laid out before you. Yeah, it's the classic rule That's why I think that's why you're a stand-up comedian Greg is you don't play by the rules You don't you don't use logic. You don't let logic in your way. Yeah, and that is the correct answer the the the the the the the
Starting point is 00:30:20 the the the the Johnny wins this particular game. Okay. Honestly, at least for me, I remember every Steve Martin movie title. When I hear it, I go, yeah, Steve Martin was in that. My Blue Heaven. Yeah. A great example where some people might not remember it.
Starting point is 00:30:37 But if you're a Steve Martin fan, he's in so many bangers and then the ones that aren't that good are memorable because it's weird that he's in movies that aren't that good I'm looking at you pink panther one and two okay, so Johnny won that game, but it's not over for the other Gentlemen that are here today because we've got yet another game to play and we're going to do that after these messages We are back and I thought about it during the break and I'm just going to declare Johnny the winner right now. Yes That's not how it works
Starting point is 00:31:20 No, we're gonna play one more game But Johnny all he won for winning that first game is that he gets to go first in our final game, our determining game today. And it's called parental guidance. You got kids, Greg, you got it. You know what's up. When it comes to well versed adolescents. Yes. Have you ever have you ever experienced looking up a movie and figuring out if it's appropriate for for children? Yeah, there was this website that was called I can't remember the name, but we went to it, we went to it often, but the problem is then my kids were of the generation that started on cell phones.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Like they were, they were the first kids to get cell phones when they were in seventh and eighth grade. And then just all bets were off. You know, you can't stop them from watching whatever they want at that point. And we never did the, I guess we could have put something on their phones to stop them, but I don't know they turned out all right
Starting point is 00:32:29 Yeah, well it's just yeah kids are just going to you know, they're gonna see what they're gonna see these days and Yet somehow they still keep these things around where they give parental guidance and You know in my opinion, it's often too too focused. It's too prudish. Like it's to the point of it's just silly. Some of the things that they warn people about that their kids are going to be subjected to. Well, you know, we never pass the test is the Old Testament. You ever read any of the old testament? it's just like murder and savagery.
Starting point is 00:33:08 And yeah, it's it would make it, you know, are when I was growing up, movies that were rated G and TV shows that were like for the whole family were about murder. Like they were about solving murders. So somebody has to be murdered. And then and everyone's just like having a great time because it's a murder mystery, you know, but but it's amazing that like, you know, a movie used to be rated G and.
Starting point is 00:33:39 In the centerpiece of the film is someone getting killed. So Sunday, Sunday Nights was the wonderful world of Disney and the show that followed it. Murder, she wrote. Yeah. Yeah. Murder, she wrote, where somebody has to die in order for her. Jessica Fletcher to have a fun adventure and figure it out. Yeah. Yeah. It's a strange,
Starting point is 00:34:02 strange world. So. I'll say to you, Johnny Johnny because it's Europe first. I'll say a Line of guidance that was presented for a specific movie in the parental guidelines section on the internet movie database and Then you get one guess as to what movie you think it is if you miss if you miss then we move on to Greg and I'll say a second
Starting point is 00:34:36 line of parental guidance And so you have the two to go on and should make it a little easier, but still not She's still probably have to just make a guess and this is The great business there we go to Matt. He gets a third piece of information that something in the movie that they're warning parents about and then if he misses then We go back to Johnny. So that's why it's great that Johnny won that first game because he gets the fourth clue In the first round and the fourth clue should give it away. It gets that far each time
Starting point is 00:35:14 But I've been wrong about this before Each round the next person in line, you know, you'll each get a chance to go first in each round But Johnny will get to go first if it comes down to a tiebreaker any questions no it's rock yeah let's do this Johnny what movie from the history of all movies Do you think has this parental warning a man sings a rhyme for 15 years she kept her virginity not a bad record for this vicinity I'm gonna go with a mile the the the the
Starting point is 00:36:14 the the the the But that is not the correct answer Now we move to Greg here is your second piece of parental guidance the main character smokes
Starting point is 00:36:45 So we've got a man singing a slightly dirty rhyme and the main character smokes. What movie comes to mind when you hear those two things, Greg? You mean he smokes like he's like he's hot, like he's smoking hot? No, it doesn't say that he's a smoke show. It says that he smokes. He smokes. OK, I got gotta go. You got an extra clue out of me there because it just says the main character smokes, but then we started calling it. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. The dirty dozen
Starting point is 00:37:29 The top of the top man of the dozen smokes Yeah, I just thought of a lot of guys that smoke Yeah, I think it's I Think the reason they say the main character smokes is because no one else does but yeah, I could be wrong Matt oh my god, here's your third clue. Okay Like I said, the clues should be getting easier. So maybe you could put this together and come up with the answer So really okay. I'll feel extra down if I don't get it. Three men sit around in a boat drinking.
Starting point is 00:38:12 OK, come on. This is just. Jaws is the. You just spilled that one right into me. Yeah. Congratulations, Matt. Wait, so where's the virginity? Oh, the, Matt. Right. So where's the virginity come? Oh, the girl. Yeah, it's just some, you know, they got lots of people
Starting point is 00:38:33 going out to try to. Get the bounty for the shark. So there's like a crusty dude that's, you know, you know how those seafaring types. Greg, you know how they they like a good limerick. Right. Isn't it shanty if it's out on sea? I think it's a shanty. If the limits officially turn into shanty when they get wet, once they hit water.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Yeah, this is so educational episode. And the fourth clue, of course, would have given it away, I would hope. I mean, the third clue was pretty strong, but the fourth clue of course would have given it away. I would hope I mean the third clue was pretty strong But the fourth one just says at the beginning a teenage girl is attacked by a shark. Yeah Alright Johnny, you're you're up first on this next one. Oh Is that good? It's good if it gets all the way to the fourth clue then you'll get that one. Well Mac It's good if it gets all the way to the fourth clue because then you'll get that one well Mac
Starting point is 00:39:32 Yeah, I fucked you big time. Oh wait. I'm sorry Johnny you do what you went first last time so Greg does go first this time Thank you for correcting me all right Greg Yeah Teen boy says he's got the tits Teen boy says she's got tits like a sparrow team boys get tits like a sparrow yeah the outsiders oh okay that's a terrific as that's a good guess those little socias would say shit like that. Yeah. And also, I, you know, for the life of me, I don't. That just means no tits like to sparrows are known for any particular time.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Are they red like a red sparrow, like a big a beat? Yeah. We call her beak breast. OK. But that is wrong. So, Matt, you're up, which, uh, here's your second clue. The music is ominous and intense. Okay. Ominous sparrow tits. Ominous. Oh my God. Uh, okay. What are they? Who's talking about tits in movies these days? And ominous at the same time.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Fucking silence of the lambs, I have no idea. I'm not here to give a Hannibal lecture. Like Trump's been doing a lot lately. No, that is incorrect All right, so now Johnny gets food number three a Killer whale is found with a huge chunk bit out of its face Okay, so this I thought I had a guess, but the killer well is throwing me because now I'm starting to think that this is a theme and I'm starting to think maybe this could be another Jaws movie.
Starting point is 00:41:43 So I'm going to say Jaws 2. That is correct. It is. Oh, my God. Don't like that. I had a totally different guess to until the killer. Well, yeah, you know, there's, of course, a shark bit that killer whale and The the fourth clue is this sequel is the least violent in the franchise So Johnny is on the board and
Starting point is 00:42:22 Matt who already has a point gets to go first on this Third and final route right can't wait to get it correct on the first try like we've all done. It's not built that way. Matt, I've got an hour to fill. Here we go. The film's violence is more disturbing than gory. Yeah, like it's just three, right? They have to have the correct title. There wasn't a job. My different name.
Starting point is 00:42:56 Oh, the jazz jazz. It's like Revenge of Jaws or something. Or is it is it the son of Jaws or? Oh, God, you know is it is it the son of jaws or oh god you know what it is it's yeah it's it's like jaws revenge revenge of jaws what about that's so many gases what about wizard of jaws with the shah's the Empire Strikes Jaws? We need a final guess. Okay, it's it's it's it's Revenge of Jaws. Incorrect. That's
Starting point is 00:43:37 Johnny. Here we go. I thought it was my turn. Uh, it should be Johnny's turn. Okay. I actually don't know. I'm chopping the bit because I actually finally know one. Oh, I know it too.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Oh, that's exciting. Everyone knows it. Oh my God. All right, Johnny. Everybody knows the Jaws three was actually Jaws 3D. Everyone knows that everyone. Yeah. Well, not Canadians. OK, we didn't get that in Canada.
Starting point is 00:44:20 That's not a free point. It was to do to. Well, in your excitement over jumping in with the wrong answer, I forgot to tell you the next clue. So but since you guessed already, I'm is it over? I'm going to say it, but you don't get another guess. Many sexual references is the second clue. Many sexual references. The film's violence is more disturbing than going. the is injected with a sedative. Huh? All right. So it's not just three day.
Starting point is 00:45:08 That is correct. That is not just three day. I think there was only three jaws. Just three. Is it justaws 3 something? Yeah, Johnny just guessed Jaws 3D, which is the name of the third Jaws movie, but that's not the movie I'm talking about right now. Oh, I think I know.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Orca. There was a movie called Orca. It was a movie called Orca. Yeah, Orca. I think maybe even the killer whale. Yeah. Orca maybe. But regardless, that's not the answer. Okay. Now, Matt, you get the final clue, the one that should give it away. And if you get it correct, you are our winner today. Are you ready? Please, God, just tell me a young girl vomits onto a priest. Oh, okay. Well, it could be many movies. This one starring Selena Gomez.
Starting point is 00:46:30 No, it is The Exorcist. The Exorcist is correct. Great. And Matt, congratulations, you are a winner. You did it. I'm so happy. I can't wait to tell Canada. I guess this in the first 10 minutes of the episode. It's true. You did have, if just wildly stating the answer to a question, like bringing it up and then also then not recognizing it when it is time to say it. There's something very special about that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, I was I'm always pleased with that happens
Starting point is 00:47:09 When you said it, you know, I was like, well, we'll see how this goes later For Greg the the expert on all things the exorcist Well, but yes, I took a turn there and didn't go with jaws 3d Well, but yes, I took a turn there and didn't go with just 3d And then just for all the purists out there the fourth jaws movie was called jaws the revenge That's the one see I told you was in there. Yeah, and that's the one that I always like to remind people that Michael Caine was filming that in the Bahamas and they went Michael Caine was filming that in the Bahamas and they went
Starting point is 00:47:51 You know he had to be there contractually so he missed accepting his first Oscar Wow Because he was filming But he got a second Oscar was there so it really worked out? Great for Michael Caine Let's play the I have a couple of minutes here, so let's play the Let's play the fourth round just for just for fun. We'll let we'll have Greg go first then Johnny then Matt since Matt's already our winner and Just see how you guys do on this one. So, so far we've got, now I didn't say there was any kind of theme in this one, but of course you recognize that Jaws and Jaws 2
Starting point is 00:48:33 are somewhat thematic. And of course there's the Exorcist, but I'll tell you this tiebreaker could go off in any direction. And Greg, here we go. There's two mild urination jokes at the beginning. Mild ones. Mild urination jokes at the beginning.
Starting point is 00:49:04 I guess I go with Naked Gun. Ooh. I love that one Naked Gun movie where the opening sequence is just OJ Simpson just getting the shit beat out of him by a bunch of
Starting point is 00:49:22 random objects like, you know, like a rake, that old gag. Yeah. Then he falls out the window into the water It's hilarious No, but that's not the right answer. Okay Johnny yes a Mild what is why do you keep saying mild a mild reference to castration? Why does he keep saying mild? A mild reference to castration. Ooh, a lot of pee pee stuff.
Starting point is 00:49:49 A mild reference to castration. I'm still caught on the pee. I'm thinking of pee jokes as I do. It's half my act. I'm gonna go with the only p joke that is sticking out in my mind is when in Dumb and Dumber, Lloyd Christmas can't unzip his fly. And he has to pee in the limo and in beer bottles. So I'm gonna go dumb and dumber. Yeah, and then Harlan Williams as a highway patrol officer drinks a bottle of pee.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Also, can I add it wasn't the limo? It was the giant dog van. Just want to put that out there. Yeah. And it was a giant dog van. Yeah. Okay. I remember him a giant dog van. Yeah. Okay. I remember him peeing in beer. It could have been eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. He's always pissing in bottles and movies. I don't know. There's so many. Truman show pissing in bottles.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Yeah. There's that one where he majestically pissed in bottles. Yeah. Once the majestic people don't know that's what it was about. Uh, no, that is a incorrect, it's not dumb and dumber. Uh, okay, Matt, you get the third one might be more helpful than the first two clues. A pig is shocked with a prod and ushered to a meat truck I mean mmm babe no what's the pee-pee joke I gotta like I watch this movie again um you know when they say mild urination jokes, I just think it's just animals just talking about P.m. Yeah, but
Starting point is 00:51:49 Pig is shocked with a prod and ushered to a meat truck like that happens in What I remember to be an extremely gentle movie Yeah, is that what babes his first words were I gotta take a piss is that what yeah? probably Please don't castrate me. I got a pen. I was just born And then the fourth clue that really would give it away is babe bites his sheep's leg All right, so even in the
Starting point is 00:52:29 All right, so even in the didn't count for anything bonus round Matt still prevails so Matt you get to do your you're the new champion and you get to promote yourself first. What would you like to plug? Follow me on Instagram at Matt O'Brien. Also I have a new album coming out called King of Kirkland which will be out in a few weeks so keep an eye peeled for out called King of Kirkland, which will be out in a few weeks. So keep an eye peeled for that. Where is Kirkland? Kirkland, like, it's a lot of Costco jokes.
Starting point is 00:52:51 That's the whole album, basically. Oh, that's like the company that runs Costco. Oh, yeah. Have you not been to a Costco, Doug? I'm not a Costco person at all. Oh, my. I've seen them. God, yes.
Starting point is 00:53:03 And I'm aware of I've seen them. God, yes. And I'm aware of, you know, what happens in them. And I think the only reason I'd said foot in one is for the samples. Well, that's half the battle right there. And that dog. So I'm guessing it's like a three hour album because everything is so much bigger at Costco. Yeah, huge. I'm very loud. And yeah, it's yeah, definitely check it out. It's order in bulk All right and O'Brien with a e that's right. Not a EBR I Matt O'Brien as the telemarketers call me. Oh
Starting point is 00:53:42 those dumb telemarketers That is wild. Oh, those dumb telemarketers. That is wild. Okay. So, uh, thanks for being here, dude. We'll have you back, uh, soon as a ongoing champion, but you're all champions to me. Johnny Taylor Jr. What would you like to promote? They'll probably be comedy but go see Johnny in San Francisco, please do thank you. Yeah apologies for getting the wrong You know, it's like an anti plug at this point
Starting point is 00:55:01 Yeah, they'll figure it out I'll have a bunch of Sacramento's mad at me. Johnny wasn't at the punch line. But what a great open mic we saw. Jesse, it was crazy. That local sax scene really raced in the game. Yeah. OK, so Greg Fitzsimmons, we know that you have a special.
Starting point is 00:55:23 It's been eight years. Been eight years and it's called this. You know, the whole time getting filthier and filthier. I feel like I did. I don't know what happened exactly, but I think maybe because my kids are older and now they can handle it. So I'm not as, you know, shy about talking about having sex with their mother. They can handle that, right? I don't know if this is, if they're old enough to know that that happened.
Starting point is 00:55:50 Yeah, I hope so. I think so. Denver Comedy Works this weekend, Thursday through Saturday, tickets at fitsdog.com. Nice, I love that club too. Yeah. That's a good spot. That's how clubs should be done. Yeah, people just crammed in there. No tables. You'll need tables. You'll just little thing to put your drink on. Yeah, you're calling it a day. If you're a larger client, I think they have special seats for you. But the average seat your knees are right here. You're in a Greyhound. seat your knees are right here you're in a greyhound if you are
Starting point is 00:56:33 Coming to record Greg's act stay home as they do not allow it there. That's right. You gotta put your phone in a bag Mm-hmm. That's why I always have a burner Because they never ask where's your second phone they just take a phone so if you want to get a phone in just bring two phones I have to say my two favorite clubs in the country are the San Francisco punchline in the Denver Comedy Works We're there. As always I close every episode with the last line from a different motion picture. And today I was inspired to use the last line spoken by the great Roy Scheider in Jaws 2 that he was contractually obligated to be in and didn't enjoy a second of it. As always, sure they did.
