Starting point is 00:00:00 Doug hates candy wrappers screening baby sticky seeds with 50 as a pop or kernels in his teeth They're still not one that he won't see Cause Doug loves movies Hey, hey, hey everybody, my name is Doug and I love movies This is a very grateful episode of Doug loves movies. It's Sunday, January 12th 2025 and just a few days ago I had to evacuate my home because of one of the many fire storms that have been developing all throughout Los Angeles and
Starting point is 00:00:40 fortunately firefighters got That particular fire under control. And I'm back at home, but I ended up postponing yesterday's Douglas movies taping at the Tacoma comedy club in Tacoma, Washington. I love doing the show at that club. And I'm happy to say that we have rescheduled for June 28th. And my three guests today over zoom are the three comedians who were going to be on the show yesterday In Tacoma, I'm excited to say they are Trey Crowder Sean Jordan and Monica Neve. Hello
Starting point is 00:01:16 What's happening? Hello? Hello Let's meet everybody individually, alphabetically by first name. Thank you for being here, Monica Navi. Thank you for having me again. I'm excited. We were able to do this because I was, yeah, bummed. We didn't get to see each other yesterday. So, yeah, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:01:36 This show didn't happen. Uh, you know, it was in the afternoon. So I assume like whatever normal nighttime stuff you had planned, you could still do that. Yeah. Yeah. It all worked out. I just enjoyed doing the show. Yeah, well it certainly would have been fun and we spoke about it and it seems that you are available to do the rescheduled date on June 28th. Yep, I'll be there. Nice. Also joining us, who I believe is in the same boat, it's Sean Jordan. Hey Sean. Doug, I'll be there with bells on in June. I'm excited. I'm excited because I'm losing my eyesight
Starting point is 00:02:21 and those bells are really gonna help. You'll know exactly where I'm at. I like to know when you're coming. I like to know wherever Wherever Sean George that I want to know about it. I do what I can I Appreciate it, dude. And yeah, you were gonna Make a little road trip to Tacoma and you just ended up coma and you just ended up Probably contentedly at home yesterday. I ended up not making my 51st appearance, which is what it will be in June Well, no, this is my 51st appearance. So I guess yeah, where'd you get this figure this number? Last time I was on you told me it was my 50th time You've made me a fool in front of all these people the bonus episodes or stuff like that. Uh, might've changed your number a little bit, but also joining us is a man who
Starting point is 00:03:29 actually had lined the Tacoma comedy club over the weekend is Trey Crowder. Hey Trey. Yeah. Hey Doug, glad to be here. So yes, I will likely not be back on the rescheduled live one in June. Didn't it go great though? Wouldn't they be happy to have you back again? Yeah, I'd love to go.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Really? Yeah, but yes, I'd love to go back. That's my second time at that club and I do. It's great room and everything. But, you know, six months is cutting a little close for me. Yeah. And I think quite that prolific. Yeah, I think they have somebody else booked who I will try to potentially get as a guest on my show. That's generally how it works. But in like your case, Trey, I was keeping your name a secret because of the fact that, you know, you had shows later
Starting point is 00:04:19 that night and all weekend at that same club. And, you know, I don't want people to be like, well, we can just go see Trey at Doug's show. I want your fans to come see you at your show. And then if your show is all sold out, which I think they did ultimately. But at the point where they sold out, my plan would be to say, well, I got Trey Crowder, if you really missed out on tickets. That'll bring them in. Yeah, no, it's nice being a like a, you know, a special treat like that. Like some kind of surprise, typically disappointing for the people on the other
Starting point is 00:04:52 end, because they're like, oh, wow, I thought it might be someone that I was aware of. But that's cool, too, I guess. Well, Sean can tell you about the time that Gareth Reynolds was on my show in the afternoon. And you know, I asked the audience how many people were coming back to see him later that night. And he thought I was, you know, busting his, you know, like seven people clapped. I thought that was a pretty nice number. Pretty good.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Yeah, that's pretty legit. I would be thrilled with that. Gareth wasn't excited about it. He was really, he really thought I was fucking with him. Well, he'll take any opportunity to get apoplectic about something, you know, humorously apoplectic. So exactly. It was fun how rankled he was. Right. We had a very nice time there. And so I was just say thank you to all of you for, you know, joining me, you know, after this reschedule situation and the Tacoma Comedy Club and all the people on
Starting point is 00:05:53 social media who checked in on me when I was posting about how I had to evacuate my home and my balls. Now, you just took a boop looking at the fire. Oh my God. He's on social media. He's got to update you on that too. No, we're sitting at home and we hear fire trucks. So we're already a little worried because there's already two massive fires and counting going on in LA on Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:06:21 And we hear fire trucks and my girlfriend's like, I'm just going to go look out the window. You know, we were watching TV. She's like, I want to go look out the window and just see what's going on. And then first thing she says to me is, you know, Doug, come here. And it was like out of a movie to just look out the window and there's this massive fire, like right outside our window. And then our phones started going off with the, alert that the evacuation is imminent. And so, it wasn't too long after that we were out
Starting point is 00:06:55 on the street with our shit and we're dog sitting. So we had the dog. Oh no, gosh. It had to bring along with us and he had the time of his life. He really liked just up and Running to a hotel Before we play some games today, I would like each one of you to think back to
Starting point is 00:07:19 Disastrous beginning of 2025 and tell me your favorite movie of last year will start with Monica. Do you have a favorite? Yes, yes Well, yeah, I I probably didn't Watch a ton of new films last year I definitely went to the theater a few times and And the one that really sticks out to me, which yes, maybe I'm a little embarrassed about, but I have a child, is Moana 2. I was very, very happy with Moana 2.
Starting point is 00:07:52 You liked it? Yeah, I love a Disney hero's journey. Why would you be embarrassed about that? I mean, that's awesome. I haven't seen Moana 2, but Moana was dope as hell. It's great and still very funny. I like it when these Disney movies that I would probably see anyways
Starting point is 00:08:10 if I didn't have an 11 year old, but I do probably go more frequently because we have a child. And I'm dying, I'm laughing and having a great time so that it's a little bit for everybody. And I was impressed. If you're having a kid you know like how vast the difference is between like most kids stuff and stuff that's actually good for you know an adult perspective makes you appreciate those all the more you know so
Starting point is 00:08:37 definitely. Yeah no shame in the actually good ones. I'm saying if you haven't checked it out go go watch the sequel you know. good ones. I'm saying if you haven't checked it out, go go watch the sequel. You know, it's a crazy thing about kids how they just have, you know, so little tape like none of them ever appreciate something that's animated. They don't give a shit. Yeah. I mean, like you can watch the shittiest. You can watch Peppa Pig all day long. Right.
Starting point is 00:09:00 Never stop and go, wait a second, when I watch a Disney thing or whatever, the animation is so much better. Yeah, everything's better. I wish I still felt that way. That'd be dope. I'd like everything. Right. That would help. You could do that. It would turn you into Jeff Tate. So. So, Monica, you did.
Starting point is 00:09:20 So you probably most of the stuff you saw last year was probably stuff for kids then yeah Wicked which is not necessarily for kids, but a little bit and then I did I did see With the Blake Lively that this ends with us. I did see that one and that was Was like let's get a lot of crap out of your head they got some real-life stuff I was like, let's get this a lot of crap out of your head. They got to learn some real life stuff. And then we went through the, you know, the lawsuits that are happening
Starting point is 00:09:49 and made sure he understood that part. I'm just kidding. I did watch that one. It was, yeah, it was a lot. Every once in a while, I like to get a something darker because I can just want to watch, you know, comedy or whatever, but I need something real every once in a while So yeah, you watch that's something you could do after bedtime or whatever. Yeah, right as I'm falling asleep
Starting point is 00:10:16 Okay, so I was just trying to assess if you know Moana to like if you saw lots of other kids things that that sounds like it's quite a compliment that that was your Your favorite of the year. Yeah. Yes. Yes, we spend most of our time watching kid appropriate things Sean what's I mean, you're in a similar situation with your child being present Around the house I assume Yeah, she don't go to movies that word. She's three and a half. So we're not quite I haven't taken her to the cinema yet I keep I keep tiptoeing around it. I think what's the what's the when is the good time to start? I don't know
Starting point is 00:10:57 I think they have movies for kids where it's like you can bring your kid and it's just known that everyone's gonna be talking the Whole time, you know what? I mean Like no one's going to get hushed. So I'm going to take her to one of those soon. I think that that was like my goal in the next month just to see what time it is. Yeah, because those also like, yeah, they just put up with like, you know, if she feels like running around or, you know, if like, sure, you have to take her outside for a little while or something like she's got to go smoke. Yeah, you got to go have a couple of sakes out.
Starting point is 00:11:25 So break. Yeah. Yeah. She's a vapor. But yeah, I, you know, I, I, I hate dating myself with these things, but I still can't stop myself from saying when I was a baby, when my mother was pregnant with me and while I was an infant and a toddler, she would go to the movies and they would have a glass booth in the back of the theater where people could smoke while watching the movie. But she would just bring me in there with her.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Yeah, well, why not? And your whole career is based on smoking. Look at this, it works. It's nasty. Okay. Yeah, it is. The silly things we used to do. based on smoking look at this it works nasty Okay All right, so Sean what's your
Starting point is 00:12:08 What's your pick for a favorite of last year? I mean, I'm a simple I'm a simple guy and I absolutely loved twisters. I thought it was Fantastic. It was a goddamn movie Glenn Powell can get it every day and twice on Sunday. It was just great. I love it Okay, my first question is was there only one twister in twister? Like why wasn't the first twisters called twisters? Oh, I mean you write Through the whole movie. Well, there was like there was a really big one The big one that five at the end is The mythic the mythic twister. OK, so it wasn't the title wasn't a reference to the other ones.
Starting point is 00:12:51 It was a reference to the big one. OK, the boss twister. The other one is more like wind events. Now, in this one, there were multiple twisters and twisters. So so many twisters appropriately named. I loved it. It's a movie. I don't know. People got so mad. I tell people with hard opinions when I like something like twisters. So, so many appropriately named. I loved it. It's a movie. I don't know people got so mad. I tell people with hard opinions when I like something like twisters and they
Starting point is 00:13:10 roll their eyes and I'm like, Hey, take a flying leap. It's a movie. I had some goddamn popcorn and a hot dog and I loved it. Yeah. What do they care if you loved it? I couldn't tell you, but I don't know. I, if someone tells me they like something, I immediately get stoked as long as it's like on the right side of humanity, you know what I mean? So if you're if you are in a good mood and you like stuff, great. Well, that's just that's just an excuse for any pile of garbage. Just, well, if you're in a good mood and like anything, I just like going to the movies. Like the whole the whole thing is fun. Like, you know, I just I
Starting point is 00:13:47 do I like almost everything but twisters really got me I went with my wife and we had like a minute. I think we went during one of our daughter's daycare days. So that's just like playing with house money. It's it's so everything's amazing when you do that. And so yeah, we just went in the middle of the day and it was red. I love I love that for you. Thanks, bud. Trey, do you have a favorite movie from last year?
Starting point is 00:14:13 Thinking about this always makes me realize how many movies I have, how much I'm just not up on movies the way I used to be, especially like, you know, the smart ones, like smart people movies and stuff. Like when nominations come out or whatever, I it's like, not only have I not seen them, I haven't heard of a lot of them. You know? Yeah. Oh, I guess I better figure out what the brutalist is. Like I had no idea, you know, yeah. And I put them on a list that I never get to, so I haven't seen them. So I mostly just, you know, like, you know, loved doom too.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Obviously that bullet Wolverine. I love that. I like twisters as well, as far as, obviously Deadpool and Wolverine. I love that. I like Twisters as well as far as like big 2024 movies, but the gentleman, the gentleman. Yeah, a man of culture, but I got one more relevant to our interest here and what we do that I just saw, but it came out in 2024, is I really like Saturday Night. I just, I just watched that and I love you know, I like Jason Reitman's movies and anything like comedy history related SNL related and It's also in like real time pretty much kind of it's like a little bit
Starting point is 00:15:16 But I'm a sucker for that device to anything that does that but like the movies Roughly an hour and a half and it takes place over an hour and a half and You know, I just held my attention and I dug it the whole time Did you ever see Nick of time with yes, Johnny Depp? I almost brought it up just now I think it was the first one of those movies that I can remember seeing when I was a kid 24 yes That's good, too. I did see that. Yeah. Those are the only examples that are coming into my head of like just
Starting point is 00:15:52 Super commitment to the real-time, uh, concept. Right. And you're right about Saturday night is it's really Like that's I I'd say well, you know to, whether you like it or dislike it, you can't be like it. It never slows down for a second. Like it's very fast paced. But to me, I thought it was like too many characters in too much, too much of a fast paced environment. Yeah, it definitely could be.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Yeah, too much or like overstimulating. I mean, as far as the characters, you're right. There's no possible way you can give all of those characters like a kind of sad. Don't really get to know. Right. That's definitely true. But I kind of like the frenetic because I'm sure, you know, it is very chaotic. And especially saying like that's definitely like an aspect of it
Starting point is 00:16:44 that you've got to you got to hand it to the movie. It does move along at a pretty fast clip. And it's about an hour, 40 minutes long. I saw it at a late night screening. I was like, oh my god, I don't even know if I'm going to get through this. And it was over before I knew it. It's a very quick watch all

Starting point is 00:21:24 exactly like that dude. And I kind of do. it's interesting. No, you really do kind of do It's not one of those ones where people say it and you just go I guess I sort of see it No, you could I bet you you could like go into like you could make a reservation with his name in a restaurant in la In a dark restaurant and show up. Yeah. Yeah, I just pick a dark one and you could show up and absolutely pull off being Being that dude. I'm gonna do it Wouldn't even be the impressions not even that hard because you don't even I don't think he has any kind of
Starting point is 00:21:58 accent from anywhere yeah, you know what you don't have a South Dakota accent. No, I tried real hard to not bring it with me on the road. So I've done a decent job unless I get a couple of cups in me. Then then it comes out pretty, pretty hard. What is that? It's like the Nordic, like the oh, no, the Midwesterns who fall South Dakota. Fargo. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:20 And I'll get I'll get a little tipsy, if you will. And then, yes, right. Especially if I'm back home, just like, whoa, hey bud, holy cow, what the heck you been up to? Yeah. Love it. I embrace it, I embrace it now that I get older.
Starting point is 00:22:32 I used to hate it, but now it's like, it's fun. That's great that you can do both. Thanks, bud. Some of us are not so lucky. I was gonna say, are you calling Trey out on that? Yeah, he shot at me, but that's okay. Yeah, I can show up to court and not get convicted. Yeah, it's you know, it's everybody gets to decide.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Like if you Trey, if you really like thought about it, do you think you could lose your accent or do you just. Oh, give us a taste. Oh, I mean, I've tried, you know, like it's not like I've never tried to not have it. It's like I can like replace my accent with others like some other like I could do a Scottish brogue or something like that, like I could slay it into always a talking but I kind of I kind of just take it away. Like to me, the flat American accent, my brain like interprets that is like the absence of an accent.
Starting point is 00:23:28 And I can't just I can't do that. I have to replace it with another one. Yeah, I don't know what it is. It's frustrating. I feel like I don't have an accent. I'm from the Northwest. We're supposed to have. And that's what it feels like is it's a lack of accent.
Starting point is 00:23:44 There's no. Yeah. And that's what it feels like is it's a lack of accent. There's no. And so I am always kind of jealous. Yeah. I mean, I'm from San Diego, so there's no, there's no San Diego accent to speak of, um, even though it's south, it's nobody, you know, nobody talks like you're in Texas or something. So one time when I was still in high school, a buddy of mine was a couple of years older than me who had of course joined the military. I'm from a small town in the South.
Starting point is 00:24:08 That's one of two options to people. Three, count like pills in jail or whatever, but he joined the military. And then he came back on leave and we have like a little lake in my hometown. He brought up a army buddy with him who was from San Diego. And to me, to my ears at that time, that guy sounded wild as hell, but he probably didn't even, but like, so like he sounded like he had an accent to me, but he probably was just talking normal and my accent was even thicker and I didn't even, but I just remember being like, Kugin mound, let's
Starting point is 00:24:38 go on the boat and have a good time. You know, like he had that like kind of thing going kind of the surfer does our first sounding like, like duck man's kid just like, oh, hey, Texas. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But that's what I always think of. I think of San Diego accents, everyone else I've ever met from there just sounds like, you know, Monica or any other American. Any other American?
Starting point is 00:25:03 Yes. American. We had American. Just some American. This girl I went to high school with, she moved to Ireland for, I want to say a month, and she came back and you would have thought she was in the cranberries. And I was like, knock it off. Yeah. You could tell. She's trying to do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:17 It was a bummer. Yeah. Because when she was there, they probably didn't want to hear it from her, you know, like, this is worse than an American running around trying to fake it. So I'm talking about movies here. I'm always so impressed to learn that so many actors are English or Australian or something that play an American accent that you can't tell because they sound just like me. I mean, I don't, is it the boring American accent is easy for other people to do?
Starting point is 00:25:48 I don't know. For some reason, British actors are spectacular at it for some reason, but also like people watch like Gwyneth Paltrow in Jane Austen's Emma and go, you know, Gwyneth Paltrow can't do an accent, but like that's because you're used, Gwyneth Paltrow can't do an accent, but like, that's because you're used to Gwyneth Paltrow. So it coming out of her mouth doesn't seem right. But then when Hugh Laurie is, who's not that famous in the United States plays house, you know,
Starting point is 00:26:17 nobody's catching him on the fact that he's actually British because they don't know him as they only know him as house. That's definitely a part of it. Like you're definitely onto something with that. Me and my wife have been watching that show, Silo. And Ian Glenn is on that. Who played Jorah in Game of Thrones. Which was my introduction to him.
Starting point is 00:26:38 That and Downton Abbey again, I'm cultured. So you know, that was my introduction to that actor. But he has an American accent in Silo and it sounds weird to me. It doesn't sound as you've heard him before. You know, he actually talks like I'm always like, he's not really nailing this, but he probably is. It's just that I know that he's not American. So it sounds weird to me.
Starting point is 00:26:58 In silo, it's like Rebecca Ferguson is dope enough to where the director is like, yeah, you can kind of be Scottish and American at the same time. Like, do you notice that she kind of slips in back and forth? Yeah. It's really odd to me. She's like the only person with any kind of accent in there. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Which, yeah, doesn't make any sense because it's only like a community of 10,000 people who have lived in the same, you know, well, silo. Nobody came across the pond. They were born in a silo. They should have a silo accent. They should. What's a silo? I said probably just everything you say sounds like echoey. Yeah. Or like a cough.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Like you're in the down deep silos. Good man. I'm digging it. Yeah, I like it too. Well, take that over to Douglas TV. Yeah, we're here to play. the first game we're going to play today is called which month and I'm not referring to October. It's which wh I see H And this game asks you that question which? months, I'll name a Like fun fact Or just a fact about one of three movies And then your job is to tell me if that fact applies to the January man from
Starting point is 00:28:18 1989 summer in February from 2013 or Ides of March from 2011 Jeff Tate's favorite movie by the way so Monica you're up first great if you miss then Sean gets a shot at it if he misses it then Trey gets the gimme point whoever whenever somebody gets a point the next person in line goes first on the next one and I Think that's everything oh first two two points wins Monica. Yeah You can just it's the January man summer February or I'd so much, but you can just say January February or March, okay
Starting point is 00:29:04 takes place in 1914. I just really haven't seen any of these. Um, 1940. Nobody should. There's not a person alive, I bet. I've seen all three of these movies. I've only seen two of them. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:22 What? I'll say February. That is a great guess. I've only seen two of them. Okay. What say February? That is a great guess that is the correct answer I knew it takes place in 1914, you know that infamous year where there was a summer in February All right, my birthday is in February. That's why oh, okay. Good luck. It's a fun reason to pick that It was because I knew the fact that's why February, that's why. Oh, okay. Good luck. That's a fun reason to pick that. No, it was because I knew the fact, that's why. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:49 It's like on Let's Make a Deal, Wayne Brady always asks the people, he says pick a door one, two, or three, and they're trying to get the big deal, and they pick a number one, two, or three, but they're always egging on the contestant to give a reason, like between numbers one, like everybody three, but they're always egging on the contestant to give a reason like between numbers. One like everybody. Oh, one of my lucky numbers.
Starting point is 00:30:09 One, two or three. You know what I mean? Like it's already limiting. And then people always just go because I have two kids. And like, that's you know, that's a dumb reason to pick to my lucky number. What an asshole. Your lucky number is one. Yeah. The number is one. Yeah. The lucky number is one. Get off me. I mean that really could be like for roulette purposes because one, you know, the number
Starting point is 00:30:32 will hit from time to time. All right, Sean. Hit me playboy. All right. January, man. Summer and February or Ides of March. Which one has Dan stevens in it dan stevens yeah do you know who dan stevens is no he's a craft service guy
Starting point is 00:30:54 mostly picture debut no he's a character actor that nobody people tend to not know who he is because he's always so different and everything. But I think he's terrific. Sometimes he takes too big of a swing. He's one of those actors not afraid to go big. But I always find him interesting. Which one of those movies do you think he's in, Sean? We'll say The Ides of March. Feels like there was some room for
Starting point is 00:31:23 some character actors in The Ides of March, and that's the only one that I've seen. So we'll go The Ides of March. Feels like there was some room for some character actors in the Ides of March, and that's the only one that I've seen. So we'll go the Ides of March. And I'm Irish, so St. Patrick's Day is in March. So there's a reason. Thank you for giving a reason. Yeah. It's a lucky month. We're lucky, the Irish.
Starting point is 00:31:37 All right. So that's incorrect. Sure. Sure it is. Now we go to Trey. You got a 50-50 here, Trey. Yeah. You said January 9th. You You got a 50-50 here, Trey. Yeah. Can you, you said January, you said the release years at the beginning, right? January now is 84. 89. Oh, and then summer.
Starting point is 00:31:53 February is 2013. Well, if it's not, I, I, as of March is also the only one I've seen, but Dan Stevens, that's Matthew from Downton Abbey, isn't it? Which it's, so it has to be February because that's 2013, because he wasn't active unless he was a kid actor or something. Right. So I go with February. Well, you figured it out.
Starting point is 00:32:12 You did the math and came up with the right answer. It's summer in February. I really like Downton Abbey, guys. I told you. It's come up more than I thought it was going to. Yeah. Yeah. I thought I'd make it through the whole year
Starting point is 00:32:23 without talking about it this much. I'm trying to think of something that he's been in that you might have seen. Like, he's like Will Ferrell's greatest rival in that Eurovision movie. Oh, I've seen that. Isn't he the beast in the live action? I mean, obviously, he's covered up. Yeah, everything. But he's also that house guest movie.
Starting point is 00:32:42 That's not what it's called, I don't think. But it's like a remake. Yes the guest Yeah, yeah Yeah, he is great he also shows up in a lot of horror movies I think he's in is he huge is that way played like is he a big can he be a big scary guy? Is that what's happening? Okay, especially for a movie actor, because they're all shrimpkins.
Starting point is 00:33:08 You know, alone and Brad Pitt are both under six feet tall. I don't know if that makes you a shrimpkin. It does. I mean, as a gentleman standing six, too, I can only imagine what that would feel like. But yeah. All right, we're back to Monica. This is for the win Monica Which one of those movies January February has a character in it named Jory
Starting point is 00:33:35 That was almost my name my mom almost named me Jory Jordan can you believe that that's fun? Oh, I know yeah, I was close anyway Oh, I know. Yeah, I was close anyway. Sorry. What a nightmare Yeah, I would have been bum I'm gonna say January I'm sorry Monica. Oh Sean this is your chance to make this a three-way tie. Oh shit. We're sticking with March man The the Irish the luck of the Irish. It's March at st. Patrick St. Patrick's Day. The Ides of March is a movie I've seen. I've seen that one. I have.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I mean, I love your logic and I love trusting your gut, but that is incorrect. Sure, of course it is. Trey, say the magic words. February, summer in February. So that's been the answer every time, am I? You know what, now that I notice it, yes, it has. Oh, you didn't do that on purpose.
Starting point is 00:34:27 I thought it has a wild coincidence. My birthday. It's like back in school, you're taking a test and you get like three or four C's or D's and you're like, this can't be. It's like unless they're doing it on purpose to fuck with me. You know, it's like that's what I thought you were doing. And then you grow up and you see a teacher at the bar and you're like, oh, they don't yeah, they're just kind of
Starting point is 00:34:49 I'll just throw the last one out at you, you know, try wins that game But I'll throw out the the final one which would have you know been the tiebreaker if it came down to it We'll just see what everybody's opinions are. Which of those three movies is the longest? I mean, I'm afraid not to say February, but. Right? It seems like just keep saying that all the way through. But yeah, it's a march. I'm pretty sure that's what I was thinking too.
Starting point is 00:35:21 It's the only one I've seen, but it feels like it's a fairly long movie, I think. So, you know, it definitely feels longer than it is. Yeah. I said that. I'll let him know. He's in the city. Please don't text him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:37 January Man was the shortest hour 37. It stars Kevin Klein and is kind of a. I don't know how to, it's just like kind of a detective move or like there's a serial killer that's called the January Man. And Kevin Klein's like a cop or a detective who's trying to stop him and it's semi-comic and not particularly good. Summer in February is the one that I haven't seen. That's an hour and 40 particularly good. Summer in February is the one that I haven't seen. That's an hour and 40 minutes long. And then you're right,
Starting point is 00:36:08 Ides of March is the longest coming in at a whopping hour and 41 minutes. It felt like it was four hours long. I definitely would have guessed more than two hours. Yeah, right. All of these movies though come from a time when, you know, everything wasn't over two hours. Everything's over two hours lately.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Yeah. I don't care for that. I don't care for it. I mean, the brutalist is three and a half hours long. What? Yeah. Who can take the time? And by me, it's playing in IMAX.
Starting point is 00:36:44 Who wants to stare at an IMAX screen for three and a half hours? What's like even my sons just got because my sons are 12 and 13. They're older, so like they've they've started watching some more adult thing. Like they watched the John Wick movies for the first time recently. Right. And I watched them with them and kick ass. And we let the first John Wick is like an hour and a half ish. We still haven't watched John Wick four because we can't fit it in before bedtime or whatever. It's like two hours and 50 minutes long.
Starting point is 00:37:12 And you can't possibly split it up. All that. You got to watch it all at once. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's white knuckle thrill ride. You can't split those up. I don't know why sequels like get longer and longer with each installment. It's like you can just keep making sequels. Like just save some of that material for the next one. Yeah, split it up. You know?
Starting point is 00:37:29 Yeah. But, you know, Avatar 3 is going to be four hours long, I bet. Tina, that's what I don't need. You could give me a 10-hour John Wick movie. I don't need a longer Avatar. I never did. All right. I'm going to make some calls.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Please do. Probably have to wait till tomorrow because you know it's Sunday, but I'm gonna get on this as soon as I can but for now. It's Monday in Asia, but to a break and I'm quickly gonna Hypnotize everybody you are under my spell buy all this stuff That you hear about in the break, and we'll be right back We're back
Starting point is 00:38:11 Let me take this let me take the spell off I don't want to yeah, I don't want anybody to go off and keep buying stuff just because I put a spell on them Congratulations Trey you won the first game. So you are getting to go first in our second and final determining game today. And we will switch the order around. So it's gonna go Trey and then Sean and then Monica. So it's going to go Trey and then Sean and then Monica.
Starting point is 00:38:52 And it's a little game that I like to call the little search engine that could. So bad at this. You're going to love it. It's so hard. You're going to love this one. It's good. I typed a word into the search engine on IMDB today. I'm going to tell you the word and then the three of you are going to take turns
Starting point is 00:39:14 guessing movie titles that have that word in them. If you come up with the one that's number one, according to the popularity that's number one, according to the popularity algorithm on IMDB, you'll get 10 points. If you get number 10, you get one point. Then there's, you know, all those points in between. Like I said, you each get three turns, Trey gets to go first. Um, the moot, the, I'll just tell you the word. Okay. So anything left to do that's clutch. That's going to help. Since it is a title of at least it's in the title of at least three movies, uh,
Starting point is 00:40:03 that are either out or coming out this month, January. I thought it was interesting how often it comes up in movie titles. The word is man. M-A-N. Oh, that's a grip, dude. Oh, that's a grip, dude. A lot of movies with. And it's it's not so it's it's man on its own, right? Right. That's what I was thinking, too. Oh, it gets a good question. Yeah, it's not like like manhood or something or whatever.
Starting point is 00:40:36 Or Manchurian candidate would say, yeah. What about what about Spider-Man? Like, well, it's a hyphen, you know, right I Could I could I could allow I mean I could But is that your first guess tray well, I mean I'm thinking so the results on IMDB it's You're just looking at them It's you're just looking at them. You're like, I'm sitting here. The way they work, the way they work.
Starting point is 00:41:06 They're like, yeah, it's based on like popular relevance or popularity or something. So you think any kind of Marvel movie would be near the top. And so let me be, you know, Sean's played this before. So let me just before you guess, let me just make it very clear that it's, you know, the algorithm is based on what people are searching on IMDB, and it's constantly updating. So this is as of today. Relevant. Very much. These are what these are the man movies people are thinking about today. I'm sure there's three either out or coming out and I don't, I'm not coming up with any of them until earlier. I'm oblivious. So, uh,
Starting point is 00:41:48 I guess I will just go with Spider-Man, uh, far from home. Was that the most recent one? Um, I can't help you in that area, but uh, but that is the title of a Spider-Man film. Yeah. So I'll just go with one of the Spider-Man movies, that one in particular. that nice way to go me that's a good start the
Starting point is 00:42:28 the the the the the the the the the Hold on. Yeah, Man of Steel. Let me just I'll say Man of Steel. That's your answer? Yes.
Starting point is 00:42:48 Well, I don't know what you're so shy about. It is number two on the list. Chocolate, baby. People. The, you know, Zack Snyder people are just at it all the time. Always arguing with somebody about something. And I was sticking up for Zach. Yeah. Well, yeah, but he beyond sticking up for him. They're just like everything that's not Zack Snyder is is just doing it wrong.
Starting point is 00:43:16 According to some people and good for them. I appreciate that they have some passion. Yeah, right for your boy little pot stirrers out there. We need it. Monica, I apologize for the inherent sexism in this game. What's your first guess? I can't stop thinking of January Man, but that's not my guess. I'm really drawn to like the only one I can really think of and
Starting point is 00:43:46 I'm sure nobody's searching it now is Encino man. Yeah. My goodness, no that I mean maybe not today but there's certainly times when Encino man probably gets uh you know like when Brendan Frazier made his comeback in the whale there's probably a lot of looking up in Sino man. But unfortunately it's not top 10 currently. Dang it. So Sean is running away with this thing with nine, nine whole points. But yeah, there's still plenty of opportunities to catch up. Trey, what's your second?
Starting point is 00:44:20 What's your second movie with man in the title? I can also only think of like decades plus old movies that are obscure even. I don't know, they're definitely not real. I even thought of Superman. I was like, well, that's one word. So maybe it is. I didn't even remember that it's actually called Man of Steel. So that's how bad I screwed that up. That's the difference between Spider-Man and Superman is the Spider-Man
Starting point is 00:44:47 siphonated and Superman isn't. I know that I thought I was being slick with that because I was like Superman is like all one word, but I forgot that the new it's called man of steel. The new one. I didn't even think about that. But are we saying that all the Spider-Mans are off the list or are we not saying that? I'm not saying I can't say anything about it your tone your tone your tone leads me to believe they all I'm saying is that
Starting point is 00:45:11 spider-man far from home is not on the in the time that's as much information Yeah, so Man I really don't know also Iron man Not a bad guess sorry to start to laugh in your face, okay You did you did laugh in his face, I'm sorry, it's not in there. It's not on the list. Sean, are you gonna just run away with this thing? Do you have another man in mind? I don't think it's on the list, but since Denzel's in Gladiator 2,
Starting point is 00:46:01 could people maybe be stumbling across man on fire? Denzel's in gladiator 2 could people maybe be stumbling across man on fire uh oh what's happening on my phone something weird's happening it's like i'm getting a phone call but i'm still you can still hear me okay yeah yeah yeah all right cool i'll just leave it i guess um uh number nine on the list is man on fire. One. Interesting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Go. Congratulations. Great Denzel Washington. Dakota Fanning. Yeah. Yeah. Little, little very young Dakota Fanning. And yeah, number nine. So it's only worth two points. Hey, two points.
Starting point is 00:46:45 Hey, two points I didn't have before, my friend. No, exactly. Two points I don't have. Me neither. Monica is all about the possibility of points, because if you can name two movies on this list, chances are you'll be able to beat Sean, but I just need one for now.
Starting point is 00:47:03 Well, the chances are I can't. But I'm really struggling just to think of anything with me. Like the one I have that I'm about to say is for sure not on the list, unless people are worried about one of the actors and what they're doing now. I'm going to go with she's the man. I knew you were going to say that Amanda Bynes, is it Channing Tatum? Am I crazy? Is it cheating? I don't know but it's but people the only reason I think they would be searching it is because they would be
Starting point is 00:47:32 Seeing what she's up to, you know, yeah. Yeah. She's you know, I've been kind of an unfortunate case You know a lot of people have Interest in that train wreck or whatever you want to call it. That's happening with her. But that did not make the top 10, unfortunately. Really good guess though. Thank you. Yeah. Trey, let's get some points on the board well I don't know if it's I'm straight up stealing Sean's logic here because I don't have any better one so going with the Denzel the Denzel play about
Starting point is 00:48:16 inside man Denzel Clive Owen movies likely, good. It is great. I've just rewatched it recently and I've really dug it again. Yeah. Jodie Foster. Mm hmm. And that as well. And they, you know, they couldn't even call the inside woman. I don't know why. I think that's different. Does feel different. You get a different, you get a different. You gotta be inside man than inside woman. It feels like a different crowd, but yeah, you're right. That was Jodie Foster. Anyway. It is.
Starting point is 00:48:53 It was so good. That should be on there. That was a good guess though. I gotta give you this is, you know, you may have gotten three goose eggs, but there were three golden goose eggs. Oh, thank you. Yeah. That's not on there.
Starting point is 00:49:08 They were all well, when you hear what's on there, you're going to go, oh, now I get it. Can I throw out a third one? Just now I understand it. Yeah. Demolition. No, wait, whose turn is it? I think it's your turn. It is.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Go ahead. Demolition man. I feel like that would always be on there. Am I correct? Am I? It's not a bad feeling to have. Oh, it is your turn. It is. Go ahead. Demolition Man? I feel like that would always be on there. Am I correct? Am I? It's not a bad feeling to have. It feels like a constantly searched.
Starting point is 00:49:31 It seems like it should maybe be, but I don't know. You know, like our sly and Sandra Bullock and Dennis Leary and Taco Bell and all those things that popular right now He's got a show coming out Dennis leery. He does that's true go in Dutch You know and it's not about two people splitting the checks. I don't know. I don't get it um What was your oh no demolition man? I'm sorry to say all right no running man either but If I played this game again a year from now people will be talking no running man either. But if I played this game again a year from now, people will be talking about running man.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Because it's you know, the reboot is the next Edgar Wright movie. Yeah. Who's who is it? I am. Who's the running man? Yeah, I think it's Glenn Powell. It's Glenn Powell, isn't it? God, everything is Glenn Powell. Everything that's good. But they just added Coleman Domingo and Josh Brolin is in it and Michael Sarah is in it.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Sean Hayes from Will and Grace. It's an interesting cast. Yeah. And Christmas tree over here. Yeah, it's going to be you running man's a great example of like it's a fun campy Arnold Schwarzenegger movie But it's perfect. It's a perfect movie to you know Take another shot at it. You know and oh give me a new one for days, dude Yeah, yeah, cuz it's just the premise nobody gets tired of that premise of like game show
Starting point is 00:50:59 We're I mean obviously squid game just Prove that point alright, so no more points for Sean but still he's at 11 points, which is insurmountable for for Monica, but let's Go ahead and see if you have the third answer just for giggles. I'm way off the trail I know that but I'm just excited that I have thought of another one And maybe because It was just the holidays of the family man. Oh, yes. Good job. That's good. Probably one of Sean's favorite movies.
Starting point is 00:51:33 I love that movie. It's so good. Don Cheadle? Yeah, Don Cheadle, Nikki Cage, Taylor Ioni. Yeah. Yeah. Cheadle's an angel. Yep. No, I'm just saying that. He's ay Leone. Yeah. Yeah. Cheadle's an angel. Yep. No, I'm just saying that. He's a really nice man.
Starting point is 00:51:48 He's just a good guy. He is. That movie did not make the list. But if we are doing this in December, it just may have because people are looking for Christmas movies. But congratulations, Shaw Jordan. You are the winner of that game radical Yeah, but you know I have to say I played this game a bunch of times with all different sorts of guests and
Starting point is 00:52:18 usually You know both Trey and Monica had answers every time mm-hmm You know usually people just give up, you know, the low bar, but all right. You guys were here and stuff. Talking on the podcast. So, yeah, I mean, I'm proud of myself. You get the participation trophies. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:52:42 In the form of it just verbally I just Don't have physical trophies All right, so now though now is the exciting part where it's like what did we miss? Mm-hmm, and it is Interesting Number ten all you had to say Trey was spider man. You didn't have to add any other words. Right. We're talking.
Starting point is 00:53:11 Toby. Toby. You told me where I was called. Toby. Toby. He's Spider-Man. Yes. Rest in peace.
Starting point is 00:53:21 Toby Keith. Yes. And your terrific, uh, rendition of Spider-Man. Yeah. Again, in my head, it was like, I was like, oh, that one's too old. It'll surely be one of the newer ones. But you know, that one's got staying power and that's also just, you know, just called Spider-Man. So yeah, let's check out. Yeah. So when somebody types in Spider-Man to all the other ones that have made, that one still is like top dog should have thought of that, uh, when it'll still pop
Starting point is 00:53:53 up, but it was only worth one point. So nothing to be kicking yourself too hard over. Now the rest of these what's happened here is that, you know, I, I don't really put the games together with, uh, the intention of like, I don't really put the games together with the intention, like, I don't really think about who the guests are too much, you know, because I don't want to, you know, favor anybody or anything, but it's just unfortunate that we, as guests, the three of you, even in the conversation before we got to this game, made it fairly clear that catching up on movies and knowing what movies are out right now is not necessarily
Starting point is 00:54:31 your bag. It used to be. I swear to God, I lost my passport. I know. Me too. Me too. I mean, not the same way. If I didn't have this podcast, I mean, it kind of, you know, forced me to pay a little bit more attention. But I also pay a lot of attention to the, you know, an award season, what movies are, you know, potentially going to win stuff because I forces me to pay a little bit more attention. But I also pay a lot of attention to the, in awards season, what movies are potentially gonna win stuff, because I try to see all of those. But so that's why these, all these movies,
Starting point is 00:54:55 none of you are gonna go, oh yeah, I should have thought of that. I don't think, because they are all, just there's wildly different reasons why they're on the list. Like number eight is a movie that went, I don't even think it played in theaters I think it went directly to streaming from 2022 with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans called the great
Starting point is 00:55:16 Yep, I remember that. Yeah, but do you though really? Well, no, I mean, I remember that it was a movie Yeah, because it's also it's the Russo present that right the Russo brothers the Yeah, Infinity War the Avengers director. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They got some new thing coming out now I've already forgotten what that is, but it looked kind of cool and then The third I think in a series of movies, but the most recent one in 2021 or no, maybe it's not the most recent but those You know Kingsman movies The Kingsman yeah, so that's that's easy to forget about
Starting point is 00:56:00 Dev Patel is a intense fighter in Monkey Man from 2024. Do you know that one? Yes. You said we weren't going to feel bad about not knowing any of these, but I am aware of all of these movies and just couldn't come up with any of them. And then the next one is the movie.
Starting point is 00:56:22 It's one of two movies that Sebastian Stan is The star of and it's called a different man Okay, okay. You got me there. It's a pretty good movie if you get a chance to check it out It's about a dude is facial has facial deformities and he gets plastic surgery and he looks He's good-looking and then how that you know changes his life or doesn't About to open any day now is a brand new version of Wolfman. Oh, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah Wolfman's at number four. It looks fun It's fun that we started talking about Glenn Powell because he has a movie that's been popular on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:57:09 Hitman called Hitman. That's right. I've seen that one. It was good. It was good. Yeah. He rules, man. Oh, shit. He's in the new running man. The new Edgar Wright running man. He's he's the running man, I think. I think Glenn Pell. of I just knew I was talking about Coleman Domingo and everybody else in it. I forgot the name. That is a name right there, by the way, Coleman Domingo.
Starting point is 00:57:46 I've never heard of that gentleman. Drone. He's in this movie called Sing Sing that's really, really good, that he's potentially going to get a best actor nomination at the Oscars because he plays an inmate in a prison that has an arts program. And it's about the inmates, you know, learning through being in plays, you know, how to, you know, find a passion for, you know, after they get out of prison. And it's based on a real program and in the movie,
Starting point is 00:58:16 most of the characters are, most of the actors in the movie have either been incarcerated or are currently incarcerated. And it's called Sing Sing. It's not a musical. And it's getting re-released this Friday because of the, you know, the awards heat that they're trying to generate. Number one. All that actors, all the actors in it were incarcerated or had been. Yeah, because I just heard a story about the guy who directed
Starting point is 00:58:54 How man I can't remember what it was, but he almost directed con air but then they didn't let him because he refused to do it unless he could use actual prisoners on the Like prison. Oh interesting Goddamn Out they just got a bunch of really amazing actors like that con-era cast is ridiculous. It's incredible. Yeah Like prison oh interesting yeah god damn Really amazing actors like that con-era cast is ridiculous. It's incredible. Yeah, it's nuts. Yeah, I love that movie so much okay, so number one Being talked about in a lot of ways because it was a huge you know a big hit in the UK but here in the States, it opened this weekend and did not get a very good reaction at the box office.
Starting point is 00:59:33 And it's called Better Man. And if you might have caught out of the corner of your eye, a poster or a commercial where it's the biopic of singer Robbie Williams. But he's a monkey. All right. Yeah. They just make him a monkey. So it's basically, and I guess it's got some flashy musical numbers and stuff. But essentially, it's just what makes it different from other biopics is that he's just a monkey instead of a person.
Starting point is 01:00:06 Yeah, I saw the trailer last night. Yeah, there you go. That's called Better Man. And that's part of why I did this in the first place, because Better Man, Wolf Man and Dog Man are all movies coming out this month. And A Different Man just came out last month so we gotta get some you know movies with a woman in the title we gotta even this shit out this is embarrassing demolition woman oh all these damn man movies So congratulations to Sean Jordan for the win. You don't get much other than getting to do your plugs first
Starting point is 01:00:50 What would you like to promote? Well, I don't need much Doug. Thank you for having me Sean Cougar melon Jordan on Instagram and that's where you find dates and stuff I'll be in San Antonio at the end of this month and then Houston beginning of next month I think and then uh, yeah, just go to go to the Instagram, give a follow if you can, that'd be great.
