Starting point is 00:00:00 It's here our first Wednesday episode ever. Whoa, does this feel weird to you guys? It it doesn't really does we're in the same spot It does it feels very normal to us, but I'm sure it's gonna be fun when this actually does come out So thank you guys for those watching and tuning in to the very first Day the rest of our lives Wow, dude All right, this is the first day of the rest of your lives This is the first Wednesday of the rest of your lives. This is the first Wednesday of the rest of your life. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Ooh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down. With some random thoughts in white. Me too. Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat. So come along. Let's have some fun and go ahead. Get on your feet because it's the Ghost Rubs Podcast. Everybody morning, we're taking round. Ghost Rubs Podcast. it on your feet because it's the ghost from this podcast it's not that big of a deal but it is kind
Starting point is 00:00:56 of fun to start posting uh on wednesdays now we'll see how it goes we got a lot of fun uh phone calls coming to you later in this episode we ask people for their craziest wedding stories um we got some crazy ones some fun ones yeah there's some some good stuff so you might hear yourself you called in you might hear a friend we have so many ghosties who like don't know that they have friends who are listening yeah this could be a good opportunity me yeah you know that's always crazy when they're like wait you listen to the pot you listen to go for my childhood best friend listened and we never talked about it. Yeah, you see it on like the Facebook group. Like, wait, what are you doing here?
Starting point is 00:01:27 Yeah. It's always crazy. It's crazy when I see somebody I know that I didn't realize listens to the podcast, like comment. Totally. Whoa, dude, Ryan Lund. What are you doing here, man?
Starting point is 00:01:36 It is fun. So shout out. Something I forgot to say on our Monday episode. I want to say it now is, you know, this past weekend, I'm in, or this past week, I'm in Orlando, and I'm just on everyone else's time. I'm on their Airbnb, their rental cars,
Starting point is 00:01:51 not really as free as I normally would be. And one night, me and the Finnish, the F-words. Yep, the F-words. We decide to Uber eat some Chipotle. We've already found a lot of these guys have never had Chipotle before. I love it, yeah. So we're trying to walk them through like this is what you'd get i mean it's pretty so exciting you like rice get rice you like sure sauce get sauce yeah um so we all order it it gets
Starting point is 00:02:13 there chipotle did not label the burritos okay and there's like a good amount of burritos really and so that's surprising yeah and so we're just kind of like everyone's just kind of like biting in and trying to see like is this mine and i uh what do you everyone's biting in i mean i'm well like uh one person like okay interesting honestly i was very shocked everyone just grabbed one and just kind of i was like how did you guys like determine like everyone's grabbed one so by the time i got there picky eater in you is like though if you have mine i'm gonna be upset risky business yeah so there's only two left there was one really small one and i was like i guess that's probably mine what's the three what's it called a three-pointer i've been going up to the four-pointer but you know it's still a small burrito where we got chicken cheese we throw in some lettuce oh you dog and so i was like all right this one's
Starting point is 00:03:00 probably mine and so i bite into it i'm like like, okay, yeah, I think it's chicken. And I'm kind of opening it more and more after the first bite. And I don't see anything else in it. It looks like just chicken. So I'm like going back. I'm like, hey, did anyone else, like, did everyone get the burrito they ordered? Everyone I talked to like, yeah, mine looks good. But it's people who've never had Chipotle before.
Starting point is 00:03:24 So it's like, it's hard to believe them if they got the right thing or not. I do not know what Pico, I don't know what their accent, nevermind. It is like, yeah. I do not know the Pico de Gallo, but this one tastes fine. It is good for me. And so then I'm like, I guess this is mine.
Starting point is 00:03:39 And so I start eating more and I started uncovering more of the burrito. I find out one, it's tasting not quite like what I know chicken to taste like oh but I'm like how often you just have only chipotle chicken by itself you know I'm like I don't know okay and as I get more of it there's nothing else in the burrito there's no lettuce there's no rice there's no queso there's no sauce or anything tiny is this burrito it was pretty small and so so one of the finnish people just ordered just a meat burrito and to top it off pretty early on i was like i think there's some steak in this so i did i ate the hot dog i ate the hot dog for a second
Starting point is 00:04:17 time you ate the whole thing yeah you did it was was the. Don't ever go on a golf trip. Jake would just always eat the hot dog. I had, it was the, it was the first night there. So it'd be a long travel day. You don't eat the whole thing. So I had to. You didn't just be like, okay, this was a mistake. I didn't know what to do.
Starting point is 00:04:39 So I spent all Monday at Trey's studio. And just one thing after another another we're training the new guy we're shooting content we're editing then we do correct opinions i have to go straight from there to the airport kids airport notorious no dinner options uh i land in orlando as soon as i get there they're already waiting for me to finish very nice people take me from the airport so i'm like well i don't want to stop and like get food right now like they are waiting for me so i get food i am so hungry that i'm like i guess i'll eat the half chicken half steak burrito and like clockwork two hours later okay mount
Starting point is 00:05:11 vesuvius monozuma's revenge yeah so i ate the hot dog thought i'd share that with you guys okay should we roll the theme music wednesday roll it Wednesday. Roll it. Wow, dude. I can't believe you ate the whole, I mean, I understand. And I kind of respect, it's kind of like Kevin, you know, on the office being like, Kevin, you know, those are poison, right? He's like, Oh, I know. I know, Pam. I know. Like, you're like, I know what's going to happen, but I'm so hungry that it's just, it's, it's worth it. And how did it taste? It honestly, it didn't taste that good because I knew what it was doing to my body. You know, I couldn't enjoy it. I'm surprised.
Starting point is 00:05:49 I mean, on one hand, I think just introducing red meat back into your diet in general would probably upset your stomach. So I really am curious if you really still are allergic to allergic. It seems like it's exactly what happened four years ago or whatever. It's like it takes a couple hours and then it starts going bananas. Dang. The hot dog I did enjoy because I knew what I was getting into. And I just let myself just fully just enjoy it. This was like a little on the fence.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Like, is this steak? I don't know. Is this someone else's? I don't know. I, I didn't immerse. And then the last time I ate the hot dog, Josh Mayer was there. So I told him again, cause he also, this is a podcast. I was like, dude, I think I'm eating the hot dog right now.
Starting point is 00:06:26 You know what I mean? That's amazing. And I don't necessarily blame you, you know, for both those things. Like this is your first night. So you're not comfortable with these guys yet, right? Don't know any of them. Yeah. You don't even, it's like, is that Junus or is that Jonas or, you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Or, you know, but, but at the same time, it's just like. Yeah. They just picked her up from the airport. They got me free dinner. Yeah. They'll think like these, these Americans are jerks. They do not eat our burrito. And if nothing else, I think I didn't enjoy it because it was just a meat burrito.
Starting point is 00:06:52 It didn't taste that good, you know? Oh, that's amazing, dude. But that was fun. The other thing I forgot to mention on Monday, I wanted to give a huge shout out to the ghosty community for how much they've appreciated the, uh, the like Heartland community church or whatever. The one down in Anna Maria Island.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Yes. People are like reposting. Cause they, they do a thing. They're like, all right, everyone stand up and say hi to our friends on Facebook. And all these old people get up and they say,
Starting point is 00:07:16 hi Facebook. They like look at the camera. Yeah. Yeah. Did you say it's on the ghost hunters Facebook page? Uh, Josh Mitchell like clipped it and posted it, but just everyone would be like,
Starting point is 00:07:24 I watched this week. I watched it. It was just like that. This fills my heart. This is so cool. It's so clipped it and posted it. But just everyone would be like, I watched this week. I watched it. It was just like that. This fills my heart. This is so cool. So fun. Shout out Stephen King.
Starting point is 00:07:29 It's just awesome. I feel like you're on a roll right now between that, the Burger King thing where you're just like, I called that before it was a meme.
Starting point is 00:07:38 You called that thing and now like everyone's like agreeing with you. It's such a meme and I can't believe I was early. What's that show that you keep telling people to watch that everyone's like, yes, great
Starting point is 00:07:47 show. Oh, behind her eyes. Behind her eyes. Yeah. And I think you hit another one on the head. Thank you. You think I can't think of what it is now, but I mean, I've been a Chiefs fan my whole life.
Starting point is 00:07:55 So that's I mean, the Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl. Hopefully. Maybe. I don't know what else I've been early on.'s something else and i can't i'll think of it later i'm sure but i'm just like jake is just hitting it thank you you're nailing it dude there's also i'm for everything i normalize people people are like oh yes i don't know if you're early on it but like you are resonating well with people i think i struck something that no one else has struck a nerve yeah can we normalize not saying struck a nerve? Just hit a nerve? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Just hit it. Normalize saying it however you want. But anyway, this episode is gonna be very fun, very different than what you guys are used to listening or watching, but I hope you guys will be patient with us as we try to figure out this new format. I don't think this will be the format
Starting point is 00:08:38 every Wednesday episode. Oh yeah. So if you didn't love this, give next week a shot too. Oh yeah. We're just gonna, we're trying new stuff out. Yeah. I think it's going to be so fun.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I love interacting with ghosties in any way we can. We do have a new sponsor, which we'll get to later. Yeah. Rocking some new sweet shirts, sweet coffee. We'll talk about it. Main Street Roasters a little bit later on. Coming from within the ghosty community. We're so pumped.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Always our favorite so pumped so you guys know last week we asked you guys for different prompts on different stories and so this week we're uh kind of focusing on the craziest wedding stories from within the ghosty community we're calling it ghost stories yeah if you think you might have a story check out our website click on the uh, uh, the tab for interact, interact tab. Yeah. Brad made it happen on the website. So made it happen. Anything else you want to say? No, just thanks in advance to all the ghosties who are submitting, you know, helping us, you know, with this, we, we want it to be interactive, but we also recognize that it takes work from your end. So thank you to all those who are helping us out and, uh enjoy it hello hey this is jake and brad what's going on hey this is elizabeth i'm so excited to talk to you guys all right yeah thanks for thanks for
Starting point is 00:09:57 chatting with us i know we've met you before at f12 and i saw you recently in the corpus christi parking lot but it's it's great to chat again. Yes. I'm very happy to get this time and to share my story. And even though it's not video, I am wearing my shelter kid shirt. I wouldn't expect anything less from you. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. It's the sheltered kid. Yeah. Let's, um, if you don't mind, let's go ahead and just get right into it. We want to hear your story and then we can kind of chat afterwards and ask you questions about it. Yeah, definitely. So this is from my uncle's wedding, which was way back in 1996 when I was only 12, but
Starting point is 00:10:34 I still remember it. So he was my dad's youngest brother, but my parents grew up in a tiny town. And so all of my mom's side of the family was there too. And they didn't want to get married at my dad's little church. They wanted to get married at the big fancy church in town. And my aunt, yes. And my aunt wanted her, of course, her dream wedding, especially because she would get married later in life. So they had these huge candelabras that probably had 50 candles on them. I just remember as a kid, there were so many candles and I'm not sure how, but one of the candles tipped over. And so my grandpa on my mom's side tried to run over
Starting point is 00:11:12 and, you know, hit it out with his suit coat. But in the process of taking off his suit coat, he knocked over about 10 more candles. And so then my other uncle ran over and they're stomping them out stomping them out thankfully they got all of it out before the sprinkler system uh triggered because it's a big church yes yes i remember as a kid you know smoking the sanctuary and it was late September. They're opening the doors and the wedding, of course, was delayed about 30 minutes. So, um, but, and then there was just a huge black mark on the carpet, this big burn mark right at the front of the sanctuary. So can you imagine, yeah, you're the bride ready to like walk down the aisle and they're like, Hey, actually, uh,
Starting point is 00:12:09 we're postponed, you know, for a little bit because uncle Steve has, you know, been whacking out a few, you know, you know what he's doing. He's hitting out a few candles from the candelabra and he hit, I mean, it's still as old as time in this, at this point. Exactly. Well, and the fact that it was my, you know, my uncle, it was his sister-in-law's stepdad that kind of ruined everything. It was like, you don't need to invite everyone. I mean, hey, but I applaud his initiative going for it. He saw something wrong. I mean, he's probably, it sounds like a small town.
Starting point is 00:12:37 So he's a volunteer firefighter or something like that. Yes. And he's like, hey, I swore a pleasure. All those good things. Yes, right. All those things. I like to imagine that uh the wedding is about to start all the bridesmaids are kind of there in a nearby room
Starting point is 00:12:50 and some of them like it smells kind of smoky and the bride's like no i we actually got we have um some smoky chipotle uh chicken sure coming and they're like no that smells like really smoky like real smoke no we splurged we got the good stuff it's got to be smoking you guys are gonna like it they're like no your uncle's on fire oh okay i remember my mom and stuff being like well should we tell the bride and they're like she knows she smells smoke we had to tell her what she's asking a lot of questions the whole town knows baby baby. Oh my goodness. Did that traumatize you as a six-year-old or no, 12-year-old, I guess? I just remember it being so crazy. And my uncle was finally getting married. It was a big deal that he was finally getting married. And it was like, oh, that's not good that now their big day is ruined. So I definitely remember just even at that age, feeling like the
Starting point is 00:13:44 anxiety of it all. Sure. Yeah. That is true. Yeah. definitely remember just even at that age, feeling like the anxiety of it all. Sure. Yeah, that is true. Yeah. Just how elevated the day gets, how high the expectations are. No one expects fire. I learned that. Well, I mean, if they had 50, 50 candles on the candelabra, they're expecting a little fire. They're just not expecting it to get burn marks on the floor. Yes, exactly. Exactly. Or for a big suit coat to come. Well, you're asking for it with 50 candles. 50 is a lot. It's like you've seen the unity candle.
Starting point is 00:14:12 How about the Olympic torch on every table? Yeah, thankfully they got the pictures beforehand. So all her pictures had all of her candles, you know, in good standing still. So that was good. Oh my gosh. That's fun. Well, you know, in good standing still. So that was good. Oh, thank goodness. That's fun. Well, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Thank you for the story. By the way, I just got to say, you have a great laugh. It's fun to talk to you. Thank you. Well, you guys make me laugh out loud all the time. So I appreciate that. And I love your laugh too. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Thanks, Elizabeth. We'll laugh more for you. Yeah. We'll try to factor that in more. Yeah. We have a lot of phone calls to get to today. So we'll probably go ahead and move on to the next one. But sincerely, thank you for being the fan that you are and just being so supportive all the time. Huge supporter. We appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Yeah, doesn't go unnoticed. And I think I saw the Facebook group here. I want to say, officially congrats to you because I haven't officially said that. So congrats to you on the wedding. That's very exciting. And I'm so happy for you. Oh, thank you. Oh, hey, Elizabeth. I'm not trying to go on your coattails, but I haven't told said that. So congrats to you on the wedding. That's very exciting. And I'm so happy for you. Oh, thank you. Oh, hey, Elizabeth, I'm not trying to go on your coattails, but I haven't told you congratulations yet either, Jake.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Hey, Jake, congratulations. Hey, from me to both Brad and Elizabeth. Congratulations to us. Thank you. Yeah. Thank you for the congratulations. Elizabeth, I think I saw that you're coming to the North Carolina show. So I was going to go to North Carolina, but instead I'm going to California.
Starting point is 00:15:28 You're all over the place. I know. So as a single mom, I get to enjoy her new kids. I got married when I was 17. I'm enjoying my year now of traveling. It'd be like, Hey,
Starting point is 00:15:40 I want to go to this show. I'm going to get my tickets. Good for you. I was in San Diego. Sunny San Diego.'m going to get my tickets. Good for you. Sunny San Diego. That's what they call it. That's awesome. The last thing I just want to say real quick before I go is that I'm just so thankful for you guys because I was just reminded the other day how there's some very not nice people on the internet with some comments that
Starting point is 00:16:05 people responded to me on your things Christians say video. Oh, got a little mean. And so I just appreciate so much that you guys are so positive and bringing joy and light to the internet because there's so much negativity out there. So I truly, truly appreciate how you guys let your light shine for Jesus. Thank you. And you're a positive light too. So thank you for what you're doing, whether it's in the comment section or a Facebook group or, you know, out on the streets of San Diego, you know, we appreciate it. Thank you. I'm so excited to listen to this podcast on Wednesdays. Yeah. Thanks Elizabeth. Thanks for calling in. Yes, definitely. Talk to you soon okay thanks
Starting point is 00:16:47 talk to you later bye-bye samuel sin what's up dude this is jake and brad hey jake and brad what's how's it going samuel sin on your feet samuel sin oh you know it you know it what are you up to today uh honestly i'm actually just working but fortunately it was kind of a lull in the day so uh jumped on this call after i saw that email yesterday perfect perfect timing i uh brad's got to see a little sneak preview he got to read the story and i've not seen it so i am i'm eager i no expectations, but I'm excited to hear your story. That's great. That's great. Yeah. I know. Uh, I saw like the post in the Facebook, um, group the other day and also before I heard the episode and I listened to the episode, I'm like, okay, I have a story. Let's go. Let's go. And then I sent that message
Starting point is 00:17:38 like late at night and then literally the next morning you're like, Hey, you're selected. So, uh So here we go. Yeah. Have at it. Let's hear it. Okay. So basically, for the interesting wedding story, I got an idea from you early on in the podcast days. I think around episode four, you mentioned a joke you utilized in one of your best man speeches. And I just want to point out that whenever you said that joke, you were like, hey, just make sure to get the bride's approval,
Starting point is 00:18:14 groom's approval, et cetera. And I did not do that, but I went along with it anyway. So yeah, before I really get into it too far, yeah, I literally was going to ask him. I was going to gonna ask the groom i was about to tell him he knew something and then the other best man he's like no i just don't tell him i'm like are you serious like yeah so he knew some of those guys and he had no idea well he decided not to tell him what was that he was the co-best man yeah co-best man and fortunately i got to give my speech for him okay so i think he was trying to sabotage you a little bit he's like he's like co-best but he's if you know if
Starting point is 00:18:51 he's gonna like do this great joke like that's gonna make my speech look worse well and the funny thing is like out of the two of us if anybody were to guess a joke would be made it probably would be from the other guy not for me And it didn't make me look any better because his was really heartfelt afterwards. I'm like, oh, okay, let's go. But so basically my speech was, and I actually printed it off. So I have it exactly here. And it was, I've been friends with the groom now for eight years. And because of that, I have more than enough content for this speech.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Unfortunately for him, over these next three minutes, he has no idea what I might say. So this could honestly be the worst three minutes of his day. And I put in parentheses, wait. And then I put on the other hand, the worst three minutes of the bride's day will be later tonight.
Starting point is 00:19:42 And then I put pause for laughter. And it was the longest silence of my life because I'm like, three minutes of the brides day will be later tonight and then i put pause for laughter and it was the longest silence of my life because i'm like did anyone just process what was said and it was like it was like it was so like i was gonna die because if they didn't laugh i'm like do i just keep going welcome to stand up buddy i. And that was literally like, okay, I've never done anything like that. I figured that's exactly how stand up felt. And you said it worked. I mean, I believed you.
Starting point is 00:20:12 I took your word for it. So I was just hoping because it was also about, it was middle of the Bible Belt, both very religious families, very like conservative families, et cetera. So I'm like, this will either really hit or just not get anything at all and there was probably i re-watched the video and it was like three seconds of silence and then it started catching on and people just started dying that's a long three seconds though when you say it was it was crazy um but and then like you notice like throughout when i re-watched the video like more people started laughing as time went along because i think other people had to tell others like hey why are you guys laughing and then they had to process it and then they started
Starting point is 00:20:53 dying so this went on for probably like 30 40 seconds and then i just started trying to say the rest of my speech and like the dj had to like shut everybody up. Wow. They just kept going. That's awesome. And it was those three seconds were worth it though for the 30 to 40 seconds, you know, for laughter afterwards. That's yeah. It's definitely, yeah,
Starting point is 00:21:13 it's definitely something that, uh, most people I don't think really remember that's man speeches or anything else like after a wedding's done. And I'm pretty sure I gave him something to remember. And that's thanks to you, Jake. I appreciate your great joke and allowing us to use it but i think the bride might still be salty against me to this day but it's okay i i someday want to tell a joke on stage that gets zero laughs in three seconds but then somehow it just catches fire i don't think that's
Starting point is 00:21:43 possible but i would like to try and find it the slow burn man you need to write i mean go ahead yeah yeah i was just gonna say like and i think it's because like no one really expected anything because like right before i said like the punch line like people died. And like, after the speeches were done and we started dancing and like the brides, like brothers came up to me and they're like, I can't believe you did that. That's like so inappropriate. Everything else. I'm like, Oh gosh. And then they're like, no, I'm kidding. That's the funniest thing I've heard in my life. Mission accomplished. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. It was the most, thing i've heard in my life golly mission accomplished and it yeah okay yeah it was
Starting point is 00:22:25 the most and like something else that's interesting is like a lot of times you hear stories like at weddings especially with like a bride and groom that they always have like trouble like eating and like getting enough fluids everything else during the day and i don't think they say that happens to the best man very much and like i could not eat anything like beforehand i was so nervous dude welcome to stand up so yeah if you need like a third or fourth opener i i got one joke and then uh yeah and then i'm done dude that is impressive honestly like good for you like pausing for laughter yeah you probably felt that when i was like i mean you immediately you get so sweaty you get so warm and you're like oh my gosh oh my god you're freaking out when no one is laughing and you had the confidence to just sit in it. So that's a,
Starting point is 00:23:09 it's an admirable trait. Well, cause he wrote it down. He wrote down weight. That's the only reason he had to pause for laughter. Hopefully. LOL. Amazing. And then luckily they did. I love it. That's so great. I think a lot of standup comedians, that's how they write their material. They have to tell themselves pause for great. I think a lot of standup comedians, that's how they write their material. They have to tell themselves pause for laughter. Yeah. In case you forget you're performing comedy. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Make sure and pause. Love it. No, that's a really good story. And especially, especially like in like all these like speeches and everything else, people used to talk way too fast. So if you don't remind yourself,
Starting point is 00:23:40 like, yeah, if I just went into the next part, I don't know if people really would have laughed or if it would have made everything like oh totally extra awkward yeah they're just the whole the rest of the speech they're trying to figure out like what does the bride have planned later on tonight why was she gonna have a bad night tonight yeah i don't get it what could take three is she gonna like heat up the leftovers i don't yeah i don't get it i mean it doesn't make sense and then they have to ask me afterwards i'm'm like, I don't know. I just, I just heard people have rough nights. Yeah. I don't know. I didn't pause.
Starting point is 00:24:09 No, that's great. Um, thanks for sharing that with us. That's a good one. Um, yeah, I appreciate that. Always love hearing other people's, uh, you know, kind of trials and tribulations having to perform on a stage with a microphone. Absolutely. I love hearing that. The rough times are better than the good times. And luckily your story has both, you know, you have like this awkward, like who knows what's going to happen. And then also you have the,
Starting point is 00:24:32 the great times. So, so fun, man. And then, yeah. And I noticed like one other thing, like,
Starting point is 00:24:37 I think three people knew I was going to say that speech ahead of time. And it was literally like the other best man. And then he told his dad and mom and his mom's like, no, you can't do that. You can't say that. You can't say that. And dad just like died laughing. So I was like, okay, I'm like two for three right now. I might as well try it.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Two for three. Two for three ain't bad. Two for two on the men. Yeah. I mean, there we go. That's how you do it. That's how I'm there. I got to start doing more market research like that.

Starting point is 00:28:19 It's even greater to have one of these bad boys on each side table and table in your house and literally wake up to the smell of coffee. Throw a couple of beans in your pillow. Yeah, I think so. Not enough to make it, you know, askew cattywampus, but enough to make it smell good. Seriously, though, it smells so good. Starting point is 00:30:28 From the executive producers of Lost. This place will not break us. The phenomenon returns to Paramount+. The only way we go home is together. From new season now streaming exclusively on Paramount+. Hello? Hello, Joshua? What up? Paramount Plus. Hello. Hello, Joshua. What up? Yeah, that'd be me.
Starting point is 00:30:50 What's up, man? This is Jacob Brad. How are you doing today, dude? Not bad. Not bad. Nice to hear from you guys. Yeah, thanks, dude. Thanks for calling to the show.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Where are you calling in from? I'm from Southeast Mass. So the only part of Mass that in my mind really exists i was gonna say yeah no one talks about any other direction in massachusetts so fun well i don't know enough about geography to know what southeast mass is where what do we got there when you think about massachusetts you know, the little, you know, where the Cape is like the arm going outside, basically that area, a little bit, uh, kind of inland.
Starting point is 00:31:30 We have a town called Worcester and that's kind of a cutoff where Massachusetts ends. Anything to the, anything to the West of that is, uh, considered for us in the East coast here in Massachusetts as not Massachusetts, kind of like Connecticut.
Starting point is 00:31:43 Interesting. Okay. I'm learning something Connecticut. Interesting. Okay. I'm learning something new. Awesome. Yeah. Very cool, man. Well,
Starting point is 00:31:49 great. Well, thanks for submitting your story to us. Um, yeah, we've been hearing a lot of fun ones and we'd love to hear, love to hear what you have to say too, man.
Starting point is 00:31:57 Go ahead. Yeah, for sure. All right. So this is about my, uh, my parents. My mom couldn't say she's at work right now.
Starting point is 00:32:04 And then, uh, it's actually about my, my late father. So he is about my parents. My mom couldn't say she's at work right now. And then it's actually about my late father. So he can't say either. But it's about their wedding. Pretty funny. They tell me all about it. I'm actually getting married in March. So it's been a topic of conversation recently. Fun. Thank you. Appreciate it. Yeah. So it started at the beginning. They met in seminary, married within a year of meeting each other, that type of story here. So they got married out in California. So my mom's family is actually from Massachusetts. That's where we live here now. So she was around a bunch of people she didn't know. This is where the story begins, and this is why it's extra funny but right at the beginning of the wedding
Starting point is 00:32:45 uh the pastor you know talking about how they met and about who they are and he introduced his uh the couple uh my mom brenda and my my dad james and he says james likes doing everything with his breast friend brenda that's how the thing starts initially for the for the whole congregation everybody laughed you know a moment of silence but they recover uh breast and continue with the ceremony amazing friend that's how that's how the wedding begins that's the only setup the entire day love it um and they they went through you know, lighting candles, songs, they did communion, they did our vows, and then they did I Did, and he announced them man and wife, and he said, you may kiss the bride.
Starting point is 00:33:33 And then somebody whispers, you forgot the ring. They had forgotten to do the ring. Oh, wow, pretty important part. Yep. So no rings were exchanged, but apparently at that point, they had technically i guess been married um they went through the whole ceremony and so it's like to steal the marriage they need the ring so people laughed again and so my mom put my dad's ring on his hand and then they asked
Starting point is 00:33:58 the best man for my dad uh my mom's ring for him to put on hers. And at that point, the seven groomsmen start checking their pockets, you know, their coats, everything. Apparently it's lost. And then all seven guys took down their pants. All seven.
Starting point is 00:34:15 They all took down their pants looking for this ring. Just in case it was like, you know, you know, in between their pants and their boxers this whole time. Exactly. Exactly. And underneath they were all wearing like brightly colored boxers and swim shorts and stuff like that so it was planned yeah but uh just imagine uh like my mom's like these are a bunch of people she doesn't know sure and all of the groomsmen just taking down
Starting point is 00:34:41 their pants at the wedding yikes so this is how they do it in California. Huh? Okay. Yeah. This is what they do out there. A little different than Southeast mass. I'll tell you that much right now. Oh my gosh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Go ahead. It's crazy. Yeah. And then, and then my, my dad not in on this, by the way, uh, looked at my mom and says,
Starting point is 00:35:02 I'm going to pull down mine too. And he pulls down his pants. So I want to be left out. That's amazing. And your, how'd you, your mom was just like, all right, I guess this is, this is it. I guess this is that that's her first introduction to the fam basically. And you know, classic, classic seminary students, you know, couldn't, you know, on the altar
Starting point is 00:35:25 taking it out. Yeah. Couldn't wait to get his pants down. Couldn't wait. Wow. Couldn't wait. Oh, I just, I mean, just compounding the funniness of like the fact that they forgot the rings, you know, those groomsmen have been scheming this up forever.
Starting point is 00:35:39 That's what I was thinking. Like they couldn't wait to pull this prank. And then the officiant does him no favors. They're like, he forgot the part. Did he find out about the prank? I was going to say, I think maybe the officiant does him no favor is they're like he forgot the part did he find out about the prank i was gonna say i think maybe the officiant knew and he's like i'm not letting this happen not on my watch it it's possible and then they're like you forgot about the rings he's like dang it they remembered one of the most common things that happens in a wedding to do oh wow that is yeah i love all about that think maybe, Jake, do you mind if we do that at your wedding?
Starting point is 00:36:07 We'll do something like that. Someone will remove, so I don't want to give it away. But yeah, not everyone's going to leave the ceremony closed. I'll say that. I'll just say that, yeah. Josh, do you have any fun plans for your wedding? Any pranks? No, no, no pranks planned.
Starting point is 00:36:21 And I will be showing this to my fiance soon. If I did, I would not say good good but uh you know just you know something may happen okay fun okay that's exciting you know hearing the story makes hearing the story makes me want to do something you know what i'm saying absolutely you want to give your kids something to eventually call into a podcast and have something to say you know exactly yeah yeah honestly we need you to do something for us to have more content in you know 22 years yeah well if i if i do end up doing something i will let you guys know yeah follow up yeah because i know you can't spoil it now but if anything goes down it'd be fun to hear back from you yeah awesome well thanks johnny man yeah i appreciate it i appreciate being able to call in
Starting point is 00:37:06 another funny quick aside they also left in a volkswagen van that was painted like a cow with some horns on the front of it that was just his vehicle at the time oh did he have a reason for it to be painted like that or was he he just, you know, free spirited? Just that type of guy. You know, youth pastor type. Love it, dude. I guess. I don't know. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:37:30 It actually is pretty cool. That's awesome. Jake's wheels are turning now. I was like, that's not bad right there. That is cool. That was a nice little nugget there at the end. Awesome. How are you doing
Starting point is 00:37:45 going pretty good we've been shuffling snow all day oh ice and yeah we got a lot of snow here
Starting point is 00:37:54 it's like the most we've ever had in a long time like seven inches oh wow that is a lot because you're in Arkansas near a really beautiful tree house right
Starting point is 00:38:02 right it's very beautiful a couple beautiful tree houses oh yeah but Right. It's very beautiful. A couple of beautiful treehouses. Oh, yeah. But there's one that's like the best. The pictures you sent me of the treehouse in the snow, that was unbelievable. Magical.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Throw that on the listing. I have a video with the snow. Yeah, I have a video of the snow falling too. Pretty magical. Now it's all muddy. Sure. That is like the unfortunate thing about snow is that it eventually turns into mush
Starting point is 00:38:29 and that's not as fun. Oh my goodness. Mud is not quite as magical for some reason. Not quite. Well, Miranda, you and I obviously know each other, but do you want to introduce yourself to the ghosties? Yeah, I'm Miranda Sprague and I'm a husband, Joey. We are California natives moved to Arkansas a year and a half ago, building tree houses and homesteading and
Starting point is 00:38:55 all sorts of things and have been listening to Ghostrunners for, I want to say two years now because of my friend anna buffini yes um shout out she's wrapped so yeah that's me that's fun i was just talking about anna on the episode that'll come out on monday because uh okay i'm sure you probably saw but her and her brother are coming to kansas city this weekend oh cool yeah they're going to the chiefs game so we're gonna try to go to church with her and her brother should be fun cool i'm jealous i haven't seen her in i think two years oh wow just the podcast and seeing you can only have one or the other so yeah sorry about that but anyway if you want to go ahead we want to hear your uh your crazy wedding story so it. Well, I was a wedding coordinator full time for like five years. So I have lots of stories, but this one actually comes from a wedding that we attended. Um, my husband,
Starting point is 00:40:00 um, was a groomsman and it's one of his really close friends they're twins and these twins in particular like always compete with each other still today about everything and like how many who can have the most kids the fastest I mean it's like oh wow pretty serious yeah yeah not just not just like hey I'll race you up this hill yahtzeezee or something. Yeah. It's like, okay, guys. So everything's a competition. So one of the twins is already married. The other twin, this was his wedding day. And his brother was the best man.
Starting point is 00:40:39 And Joey and his friend, before they were about to head out and do all the pictures, found his best man speech. And was like, he cannot say this. This is not good. Like they read it over there. Like there's no way you can say this. So, but then with all the hustle and bustle of everything, you know, they went to pictures and then the wedding and the ceremony, they like totally forgot about it until the speeches came. And his friend is the twin brother stands up.
Starting point is 00:41:04 And the first line right out the bat was, well, I need to be on my behavior during this speech because my brother said that if I'm a good best man at this wedding, I can be best man at the next. And right off the bat, you're like, what? You're like, buckle in. Yeah. and right off the bat you're like what you're like buckle in yeah so you're pretty insinuating this marriage isn't gonna work he's gonna have another wedding and then he goes on pretty much the whole rest of the speech is talking about how great he is and then we all met up but they all met their wives at bible college and went the same semesters.
Starting point is 00:41:46 And he was talking about how his brother is now bride, like him first. And all these like stories about them flirting. And it was so awkward the whole time. And he's already married and his wife is sitting right next to him as he's trying to brag that his now brother's wife. Yeah. Liked him first. And you're just like, oh, my goodness. The whole time, everyone's just cringing. And he just did not stop.
Starting point is 00:42:12 He didn't read the room. And you're like, OK. And he went through with it. It was just they put their foot in their mouth a lot. But that was one that is recorded and down in history for sure. Honestly, I think the, the, the worst, I feel worse for the wife of the best man. I know. Because she can read the room probably.
Starting point is 00:42:34 And she knows like, this is going to shut up. Shut up. Please stop. I have to be associated with you. I have to pretend like this is okay. But in my head, I am fuming inside. Like, please stop talking about how you you know some other girl was attracted to you and you guys flirted because that means you were
Starting point is 00:42:49 attracted to her too like oh no just stop you can see it on her face she was blushing she was like yeah oh that's too bad definitely advice out there do not do a speech like that well if jake's dad says that it's going to be a whole different story rachel hey rachel was support with me first jake i'll be honest with you yeah that's a little concerning i think if anything i learned uh don't let joey have the opportunity to save people because he's not gonna do it he's gonna let him go through true i was like how did you not tell him like stop him he's like we just you know yeah it's true that that is funny yeah that's that is kind of adds a little drama to it it's like i had an opportunity i could have saved him and uh some of those wedding photos
Starting point is 00:43:45 probably would have yeah he probably would have still said it knowing knowing this brother yeah yeah i guess you can only try your best and okay well let's let's have a revisionist history and have joey did try to stop him right he begged and he begged yeah i mean he was literally like holding his feet as the guy was walking up. I just think it's funny. He wrote that out too. Like he wrote it and was like, yeah, this is a good thing. Yeah, exactly. That's a good point. It's not like a, maybe I shouldn't say it. No, go ahead. You know, it's like, no, no, no. Like I've thought about this enough to write it down. Yeah. It wasn't like he had a few drinks, things got away from him. No, no, no. It was premeditated. I want to say all this.
Starting point is 00:44:23 That's I think the most embarrassing part is like, he literally thought this through. It wasn't like he's just putting his foot in his mouth bad at public speedy speaking. He's like, no, this is what needs to be said at my brother's wedding. Oh man. That's great. Yeah. That's fun. Thank you. Uh, yeah. Thanks for sharing that. And I'm sure, yeah, you have tons and tons from doing wedding coordinating for years. So yeah mostly just the same like brad i think you shared last week or so about the dad with the mic down at the belly button yeah so long that's just so typical with everyone just kiss
Starting point is 00:44:57 the mic just it's it's so much easier to turn you down than it is to turn you up just put your face up there uh next to it. Oh my goodness. Yeah. And the page long speeches. Yeah. Yeah. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:10 That's always rough too. Just like, come on, man. Read the room. I think if people just know how to read the room. Well, Miranda, would you say that the snow and the tree house looks better in pictures or in person? Oh, in person. You think so think so okay i think so yeah and like winter's probably like the only season that it's fun to go to see a tree house right
Starting point is 00:45:32 like and guess what it's supposed to snow this next week oh i see i see again okay but like spring it wouldn't be fun to go in the spring, would it? Oh, it would be amazing. The trees turn bright green. The flowers are blossoming. It's beautiful. We just got more horses and cows. Oh, giddy up. Hello.
Starting point is 00:45:55 It's beautiful. So only like winter and spring though, right? Only, yeah. Awesome. Well, thank you so much. It's so fun to talk to you yeah thanks all right well you guys uh thanks for adding another episode i know that'll be a joy to all of our weeks so i hope so appreciate it yeah thanks branda good to chat with you like
Starting point is 00:46:19 always hope you have a good weekend you too bye guys all right see ya i think uh somebody just want to chat about really quickly is the idea of two twin brothers competing in everything but it's who could get married and have kids i was like we gotta pause right there that is so yeah so serious yeah you're like okay they're like competitive in sports okay we both have to get ready let's see who could tie our tie first yeah yeah he's like yeah then's see who can tie our tie first. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he's like, yeah, then after we tie our tie, I'm going to disseminate my wife. Well, yeah, let's see who can get our tubes tied first.
Starting point is 00:46:52 Two ties. The competition isn't over until we do both of them. Oh my gosh. That's something else. That's so serious. But hey, good for them. And yeah, shout out Miranda. She's great.
Starting point is 00:47:03 Her and her husband are doing all the treehouse stuff, managing the property for me. They're amazing. Yeah, sounds fun. So cool. All right. You want to sign off the episode real quick while we're here? You want to do the fun? Yeah, while we're here.
