Starting point is 00:00:00 Jake, I have another study that I found for you that I think you're going to really like. Tell me. So yeah, I'm sure that you've heard a lot about antibacterial hand soap out there. We've been using it for years, right? Yeah. Pandemic is very popular. Yeah. Hand sanitizer during the pandemic just had its heyday, right?
Starting point is 00:00:15 It was very popular. But I've always heard, and I think you would agree with this, that hand sanitizer not only kills the good bacteria on your hands or the bad bacteria on your hands, but also the good bacteria. That's correct. And so there's this new trend going around, this new thing that's saying that we should not be washing our hands with antibacterial hand soap, but that we should actually be putting bacterial hand soap onto our hands.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Okay? So, you know, people are starting to sway in this different direction. I remember reading this. According to a video that I saw on YouTube, the New York City Sewage Department has partnered with dial hand soap to create something called swampy soap that siphons out human and animal excrement from the Hudson river and combines it with their most popular fragrances like white tea, sweet water, lemon, sage, and sweet watermelon. Uh, that sounds awesome. Yeah. I, I, I guess there's just like, it's a, the idea of of like if you can put just
Starting point is 00:01:06 a lot of bacteria on your hands you'll be more immune there's a quote from the new york city mayor eric adams in this article it says early studies are in and they're saying that swampy soap is the new age of immunity i believe it so i believe it how how short lived would the pandemic have been if instead of shelling out sanitizer, we were shelling out dirt. I think so. It makes sense. Get some dirt on your hands. Get them,
Starting point is 00:01:29 get them dirty a little bit. You know, like whenever you're doing like house projects and you need to like, just have somebody deliver a truckload of dirt. Yeah. You don't need truckloads of hand sanitizer. You just need a massive mound of dirt and everyone just, and you could even have a neighborhood pile of dirt where you're all going
Starting point is 00:01:41 and just kind of wiping your hands on the dirt or fertilizer. Even let's go as far as to say like, you know, some cow dung. Yeah. Uh, something like that. Some guano from the bats. Why that full circ? Yeah. Everyone out there to imagine someone you grew up with, maybe someone, you know, now who is maybe dirty. They're a dirty person. They're the skies of your life. They grew up on a farm. They grew up around literal dirt. Now I want, I want to ask you a question. Does that person have a gluten intolerance? Does that person you're thinking of have asthma? No, they don't. No, they don't. They don't have a lot of things. They don't have
Starting point is 00:02:15 much. They have diabetes and good health, you know, 363 days out of the year. But they have none of those problems. Let me read one more thing here from days out of the year. But they have none of those problems. Let me read one more thing here from the head of the Department of Environmental Protection in New York City. His name is Rohit T. Agarwala. They call him RIT. He's encouraged us to wash our hands with swampy more.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Swampy, they're calling it swampy. Even going as far as to coin the new phrase, start the spread, signifying the idea of spreading the fecal matter soap all over your hands. So start the spread, heighten the curve. Yeah. Heighten the curve, the curve of foam in your hand, you know, do a little bit of like, remember like whenever you were like in the hot tubs back in the day and you had like foam all over your face, you're like, I'm George Washington. I'm Santa Claus. Do that with swampy soap.
Starting point is 00:03:05 With dirt. Do it until your entire face becomes black. Too far. Uh-oh. Ooh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts in white. Me too. Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat.
Starting point is 00:03:21 So come along. Let's have some fun and go ahead. Get on your feet because it's a ghost from the spot oh it's another monday another monday to start the spread brad what are you spreading this week i'm spreading love and joy and peace and happiness brother yeah what are you spreading i'm spreading um mulch mulch mainly just landscaping i'm just aerating right now you know it's aerating season for me just spreading did your dad aerate back in the day no i never heard the term until i started golfing oh nice yeah i'm sure like you notice well maybe you don't like how good grass is now that you're
Starting point is 00:04:08 golfing. Like, do you notice it on the course or do you notice it everywhere or do you not care? I think only on the golf course. Like, I don't have any pride in my lawn yet. Yeah. Yeah. But I'm sure it makes a big deal. Like how good the grass is on the course.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Like, do you get frustrated if you hit one that's supposed to be, you know, someone in the, like, is this happened in the, in the golf where it's like you hit it in the fairway but the fairway is actually like not as well kept as it should be sure sure sure like the greens are like really thick it's like carpet it's like oh my gosh it's not fun to put on or like the rough is like really unkempt it's like just clover it's like these are just like borderline weeds in the rough yeah i don't like that i mean yeah they should they should call it the weeds i'm in the weeds ah i'm in the weeds yeah i don't know types of grass but i know the ones i like and don't like do some golfers know like oh man this one's this one's bluegrass so it's not gonna totally like the lukes and the scots of the world yeah they know the difference
Starting point is 00:04:57 in like kentucky bluegrass and like bermuda really yeah yeah oh man okay i need to we're going on a bachelor party uh golf trip um oh yeah in what a couple weeks from listening to this yeah uh can you give me some phrases that i can say that would like i want to be like annoyingly like um educated in golf even though i don't know anything and like i want to like just say like kind of like i do with the uh camera stuff sometimes yeah like timing i don't know if you heard me ever like but i'll just be like oh the f-stop i mean look at the fps on that is way too high right now we need to lower it down on the uh you know yeah all these different things lower down the f what is it fps you know just tell us the words you know for cameras uh aperture
Starting point is 00:05:40 yeah yeah you know what's the difference in aperture and f-stop nothing they're the same they're the same number i actually know some stuff now that i've like used the camera but most of the time whenever we're filming stuff for gene shorts i'm like jake do i do the wheel or do i not do the way you're like do the wheel and if i don't know how to do the wheel i'm just like here you go you take it um i wonder how well i could do with that with woodworking like yeah what kind of do we do too much grit too much grit too much grit sanding it too high of a grit too high grit sometimes when you do too high of a grit the stain doesn't uh absorb very much we need to flatten the curve of the grit yeah yeah yeah um did we do too much grit too much grit i mean what
Starting point is 00:06:14 do you think did we hit the gritty too much last night i don't know about you guys oh man i think just woodworking social media is not that cool, believe it or not. And I think that if you did a video where you hit the gritty while you were gritty, you know, it would go nuts. Whoa, this guy's a genius. Because the gritty is probably just now getting to woodworking. Yeah, I see. It's kind of like the Southwest Missouri of the internet.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Oh, yeah. And some things it's like very advanced, but most things it's very behind the times the times man i'm actually kind of excited to make a reel about hitting the gritty you should that's yours you take it yeah um okay annoyingly specific like golf terms to like reference or whatever like i just like the idea of being like oh man like i mean this isn't this isn't zoysia like back home the greens aren't running quite as fast. Is running quite... Yeah, actually... Are the greens running?
Starting point is 00:07:09 Yeah, there's a... How are they running today? How are they... I even need to look this up. Oh, on the stimp meter. Stimp? Stimp. How do you spell it?
Starting point is 00:07:17 S-T-I-M-P. Okay. I'm a mother... S-T-I-M-P. It's the stimp rating. Okay. So it's like how fast or slow the green is like that's a term that's it's almost like annoying to say like i've never used that's what i want i want to be
Starting point is 00:07:30 that guy i want to be that guy and i want to teach gunner to be that guy too so that way like oh here's some we're gonna we're gonna whiff the ball but we're gonna be like i think it's the stimp like honestly back in kansas that wouldn't happen because the stimp's different the stimp i don't know it's like the accurate way to say it is what's the stem rating or would people say? I don't think you use rating. So here on this article, it gives a couple sample phrases. Perfect. Great.
Starting point is 00:07:52 What's the stem on this green? What's the stem on this green? What are we stemping here? The greens are stemping at 10.5 today. Really? Yeah. The green stem rating is 11. This green is such a stem.
Starting point is 00:08:02 I'm a simp for a fast stem. I'm a simp for a fast stem i'm a simp for stamps this is great now everyone's gonna say it's like their golfer husband to listen to um that's probably honestly i started with probably the best one i don't know if i'm gonna think of anything better than that um you could just say things like you know bryson's kind of
Starting point is 00:08:19 fallen off since he joined live right yeah yeah yeah anything about live yeah yeah uh what about like does anybody like talk about the wind or like oh yeah i just want to have like conversations pre-shot conversations okay about how much i'm going to prepare for my shot and then when i actually swing just how bad it's going to be but it looks like man this guy knows what he's talking about okay on when i'm just having a terrible day today but i don't know what's going on i i feel like for me a somewhat annoying thing uh because they're almost like pre-excusing a bad shot like i i thought the wind was going this way but it's like swirling right now yeah we're
Starting point is 00:08:54 not in a hurricane i guarantee you it's not swirling right it is it is blowing north it will blow north all that's how wind works okay it's so i think that's an easy one like just is it swirling anybody else okay great um what else can we go over let's see just like um anything about like how like i imagine you know you're putting your tea in the ground and sometimes it's easier to put the tea down there than others trouble getting your teas in today you guys you guys what kind of i mean what kind of stimp like what kind of stint moisture is this right like like it's it must be it must have like they must not be doing the water treatment here very well i think just always just complaining
Starting point is 00:09:30 about the bunker just the sand okay sand is hard okay yeah maybe gosh any kind of difference you know they got sand scales i don't know about sand scales i mean if you made one up i don't know if people would know like oh i guess i never okay let's make one up real quick. What's the sand scale? The rude. To rude sandstorm. That's good. What's the rude on this? The rude.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I'll say the rude scale. Yeah. What's the rude scale? Is that high? I mean, it seems like pretty soft sand. I don't know. If I ever hit one in the sand, I'm taking it out of that thing and putting it on the edge.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Another thing you can, this is good too. This is like kind of high level golf. A flyer lie. You familiar with this? Flyer lie? Is that fly or, or flyer? Like you're, you're somebody who flies. I also was confused on this too. I was like, this is three words or two, two words, flyer. I'm a flyer. I'm a Philadelphia flyer, but I don't tell you the truth about it. Oh, okay. Flyer lie. It's basically like, this happens more often in the rough, the weeds, if you will. Yeah, I was going to say, I'm not used to being in the weeds
Starting point is 00:10:28 because I know the steps so well that I keep in the fairway. Where like, how I understand it, grass is in between your ball and the club. And so when you strike it, it really reduces the backspin, like on like an iron shot that would normally be there.
Starting point is 00:10:43 And so your ball actually ends up flying 20, 30 know whatever it just flies way further because there's like almost no backspin on the ball okay that's supposed to be there sure and so this is also another thing that golfers like to like pre-complain about like i might just go nine i'm afraid about fly or lie i might go nine okay it's like you're worried about this thing that has like a 10 chance of happening like why would you alter what you're going to do based on the rare chance that this happens? It doesn't happen very often. No, it'd be like saying like, well, it's a good comparison.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Like I, when I shoot from the top of the key, I just shoot it extra hard so I can bank it in. Yeah. Like why don't just try to make it? It's pretty hard to bank it in. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Okay. Um, so yeah, just flyer live. Always talk about flyer lives. Like, what do you guys think? Should I go, should I go a three wood off the deck here? Cause of just flyer live always talk about flyer lives like what do you guys think should i go should i go uh three wood off the deck here because of the flyer life is that does that sound good that's that's perfectly on par with like is the f stops too much yeah yeah exactly that's what i want to be that's good okay i found it that's a great great start to the episode perfect that's pretty fun wonderful um let's see happy monday. Tymon's in the studio with us again.
Starting point is 00:11:45 What's up, Tymon? What's up, Tymon? I'm here. I'm here. We were talking about it. I think you were still in your truck. But the Facebook group last night, somebody posted, like, any other homeschool moms? Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:11:58 I saw that. And they posted it on Tuesday, and then we came out with our new episode Wednesday. Oh, yeah. It was cool. And the Wednesday episode was the one where Tymon was like, Tymon, how do you ask a girl out? He's like, well, first of all, I trick her. So I'm like, yeah, bring your daughters over for this part.
Starting point is 00:12:15 I know. That's a great point. I forgot about that. Yeah. So I want to see the reactions after that. The post was essentially like any other homeschool moms geek out when they're in the time and 16 and homeschooled because they want to set them up with their daughters most eligible be over here with big time and which what does it say about the homeschool community like how low is the bar
Starting point is 00:12:32 right now no what time is amazing we've we've endorsed him so therefore he's awesome yes i will say it's just so funny like it is no one's seen him like you know they're just like oh my gosh i could i just could stop thinking about my daughter and Tymon. I mean, you should have heard this guy talk for five seconds last episode. So that's exciting. We'll have to do, you know, spelling reveal. We'll be coming out soon, I think.
Starting point is 00:12:55 I think we should do some kind of like... Girlfriend reveal. I think we should have like a dating show where we have four homeschool girls call in, you know, blind love with Tymon. Yeah. And there's like a twist where we don'tchool girls call in. Yeah. You know, blind love with timing. Yeah. And there's like a twist where we don't tell time and something. Yeah. One of them was a guy blind. One of them is actually blind. One of them is not even homeschooled. The one
Starting point is 00:13:13 he falls in love with wasn't homeschooled. And he's like, Oh, what do I do? I don't even know you. Oh, no. Oh, my gosh. We're not compatible in any way. So you like use a water fountain. I don't know. You've like, yeah yeah you've like washed your hands in public you started the spread i don't know you yeah that's fun i don't even know you anymore timon's parents are gonna be like okay we signed off on letting you work i know during the day and now what is it now like these people are after you and they're not shaving and now they want to set you up
Starting point is 00:13:47 with other homeschool people. Okay. Timon. I actually had the thought, um, earlier today, I don't know. I was thinking of you and I was like, it'd be fun to have timings. I want to meet your parents sometime. I thought on the way over here too. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:58 And I thought while driving, I thought we should have timings parents over for dinner with Jake and Rachel and, you know, have some good ranchers meet and just just do it upright and then i thought wait timon is one of eight kids we might want a lot of good ranchers the summertime to do this you know where where we can all hang out outside or something because because i don't think i mean your parents can't just like how often do you are you and your sister out of the house your oldest sister and your parents are also out of the house like is it somewhat common because you have your youngest is a four-year-old so i didn't know my my mom's definitely home a majority yeah that's what i'm saying like it'd be pretty hard to just leave it'd be one thing to leave like you got some teenage kids yeah okay leave them for the night or whatever but i was like we just need to invite
Starting point is 00:14:42 ourselves over there that's i had that thought i was like was like, maybe we can meet them closer to their house. I was like, that's still a process to get them out of the house. Maybe we should just go over to their house and bring the dinner to them. That's kind of fun. Yeah. That's so fun. I literally had that thought this morning. I was like, yeah, it'd be fun to like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:57 I think I was more thinking like take Tymon's parents out to dinner or something, but that's good. Yeah. Yeah. That's fun. Try thinking that way over here. I listened to nothing but the Elvis soundtrack on the way over this over this morning oh this is two times in a row i know i'll tell you where it comes from soundtrack not the not elvis it's true we we veered off from elvis a couple songs worth is the soundtrack have this is a stupid question but does it have elvis
Starting point is 00:15:18 on the soundtrack yeah maybe a third of the songs or something maybe half the songs not a stupid question that's not yeah um i think where this is stemming from stimping from yeah thank you Yeah, maybe a third of the songs or something. Maybe half the songs. Not a stupid question. Not stupid. Not stupid. Not stupid. I think where this is stemming from, stimping from. Yeah, thank you. Is Rachel and I sat down last Thursday. You were out of town, and we just had all morning, like 9 to 1 p.m.,
Starting point is 00:15:38 just wedding planning, just getting a ton of random stuff done. Just little stuff. Just like... Yeah, you've got to check them off the list. Yeah, at some point, you need to get these done and so i feel like the the canna cook programs and me came back out because i start get to thinking about like all right music and music cues okay and the timing of the song like what part of the song do we want this to happen yeah
Starting point is 00:15:57 because there is a lot of music that happens on a wedding day you got the prelude to the wedding you got the whole ceremony you got different songs people walk down the aisle then you got three different first dance songs right you have the song i now pronounce use a couple you know the exit song but you have like the grand entrance into the reception yep but also maybe there's like a grand exit song again so anyway the only one i'm really excited about is uh an elva song for our grand entrance into the reception okay really excited about that and it just i just spawned all this Elvis love again.
Starting point is 00:16:26 You care to share the song? It is a remix of a song called A Little Less Conversation. That's what I was going to say. It was in Bruce Almighty. It was in Ocean's Eleven. Yeah, fun song. A little less conversation,
Starting point is 00:16:37 a little more action. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's nice. A little less time, a little more time. Come on, come on, come on, come on. Yeah, more. Come on, come on, come on, come on. Yeah, yeah. Come on, come on, come on, come on.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Is that where you're coming out right there? I think that's when it'll start, and there'll be like 15 seconds of buildup. Like, here, they're coming, they're coming. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Come on, come on, come on. Hey, we're gathering. Come on, come on, come on, come on. Hey, here we come.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Little less conversation, little more action. And then we come in there, it's going to be awesome. I'm just smiling. I'm thinking about it. I'm just like, so he goes up an octave for that part. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Yeah. So time is going to sing the whole thing. Yeah. Time is going to be doing all the wedding music. Acapella. Acapella. That's awesome, dude. So I think just that song alone, just imagining Rachel and I on our wedding day
Starting point is 00:17:33 dancing to that song on the greatest day of our life, it's just like, yeah, I should be listening to more Elvis. I can't wait, dude. You're going to be such a blushing groom. I think so. But also have naturally rosy cheeks. Yeah, true. Yeah, that's why I said it be it'll be fun to see you as a as a groom see see what you're like on like are you going to be like a little nervous like like the day of you know i'm sure everyone
Starting point is 00:17:56 everyone's always a little nervous what does jake nervous look like you know like yeah like i've heard like yeah i was nervous before the show in kansas i wasn't hanging out with you right before the show you know i'm going to be like right there with your brother yeah everyone will get to see what nervous looks like yeah i wonder what it would be i remember like i could think of like the weddings i was in when i was like 21 years old like when glenn higgins got married oh g seeing him as a nervous wreck like i got to see that but i wonder if that was because he was like 21 and he's like oh my gosh probably part of it yeah so yeah i'm sure there'll be a little like anxiousness but probably just feels like a show just like i just want to be
Starting point is 00:18:29 there i just want to be doing it yeah i just want to get it started yeah absolutely um it's fun so you got other stuff done for the wedding yeah uh we got invitations finally um designed they're coming in um rachel's wedding colors are very like kind of pastel-y in a way and so it's just like light pink light yellow light blue light purple i'm all for it i'm like yeah colors are awesome let's get a bunch of colors in here that's what the bridesmaid dresses are centerpiece everything it's over like hey let's send a few different pieces out at our invitations that are also like in those colors i'm like yeah love pastels it's spring baby spring it up the different like rsvp things or whatever yes there's like one card that's like the invitation but then there's
Starting point is 00:19:04 another card that says like respond and then another card that says details oh details love the details so if you're invited to the wedding the one that's supposed to be light purple is basically just white uh on a computer screen it looks very uh pastel purple nice lavender yeah it came in like oh that is light i can't wait like whatever i'm gonna get all your things and usually you only like put the invitation up on the refrigerator. I'm gonna put all the, all the different sheets. We're just only put like respond.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Yeah. It's a daily reminder. Yeah. He must love Jake. He's putting his respond card on there. So yeah, we got a good amount done. I feel like,
Starting point is 00:19:38 and, um, good. It was fun. Good. Uh, bachelor party real quick. Uh,
Starting point is 00:19:44 that is changing somewhat. It's gotta be so fun. Might be the first bachelor party real quick uh that is changing somewhat it's gonna be so fun might be the first bachelor party in history where not only is my dad coming but also my future father-in-law is now going to be coming on the trip yeah so so if you think i was worried about saying something before yeah what you say you and isaac you like pulled you like texted isaac individually i was like i was like bro who's gonna be the first one to say something they shouldn't have like i was like it's gonna be you or me you know like like because that's like so funny i was like harrison might say something you know you know borderline whatever marriagey like kind of humor uh in a group of people but and then accidentally like you know r Rachel's dad hears it's like, Oh my gosh,
Starting point is 00:20:25 I'm so sorry. Yeah. Isaac and I could just get goofy enough where we're like, right. You know, directly to him. Like Steve hits a good shot and you would pick a ball and you're just like rebuttal with,
Starting point is 00:20:34 yeah. You, Oh, you think that was a good shot? Yeah. Fill in the blank. You can, I,
Starting point is 00:20:41 uh, tell, tell the story. Speaking of Isaac, just, you know, putting his foot in his mouth a little bit. Tell the story at golf the other day.
Starting point is 00:20:48 Oh, yeah. This is kind of funny. You and Scott were dying laughing at this. Yeah. Yeah. It was just a few days ago. It was like sunny and 44 degrees. And I was like, oh, we should get out and golf.
Starting point is 00:20:58 Turns out that's still pretty cold. I learned my lesson. But Isaac and I just had a twosome that we booked under. We go to the first tea and there's a guy about to tee off and i go i guess he's in front of us and then the marshall of course old white guy classic is like whoa whoa whoa whoa uh you son um your tea time is after them you have to let them go ahead son you son yeah yeah okay hey you son right there you know whatever and i was like oh if you're by yourself you know go go for it sorry dad you say. Oh, pa. Rachel is saying that Rachel's really into a little house on the
Starting point is 00:21:26 prairie and everything. She was like, I really want our kids to call our grandparents. I'm on pa. That's like, yeah, I do like that. Hattie just got,
Starting point is 00:21:33 it was her birthday yesterday. How do you got the, every single episode of little house in the prairie on DVD fire. So we will be watching a lot. If you want to come over. Also saw the Prince of Egypt soundtrack. Also Prince of Egypt soundtrack. Just homeschool vibes all over the
Starting point is 00:21:45 being raised right yeah that's awesome loving it uh anyway so but the marshal's like no no he can't play ahead his t-times after you so i was like okay and then the guy was like yeah i think i'm right after you but i could just i could just play with you guys if you want and so you know we're like oh yeah of course but in our heads we're like why would you why do you want to join strangers if you're already by yourself like that just sounds so nice to get to go that sounds glorious i would love to golf by myself yeah yeah that sounds awesome like and now you have to kind of like play with these strangers and he also he was walking and we're in a golf cart huge bottleneck to what isaac and i are trying to yeah you know it's like he's just gonna be so much slower
Starting point is 00:22:20 especially when it's cold outside and you're trying to just you're not you're not trying to you know line up the shots very quickly you're like yeah no we're not lollygagging a ton yeah hit it and so i was like man it wouldn't be ideal to play with this guy but obviously we're not being rude to him we're like oh yeah for sure join us and then but then another group comes behind us and there's all this confusion and the marshal's trying to figure out like who's with who and he he's asking he's like so you guys are just a a twosome, right? And Isaac's like, well, yeah, but now we got to play with this guy. And I'm just like, Isaac, people don't know when you're being sarcastic. Like, they don't know you, right?
Starting point is 00:22:53 Like, you know that that guy doesn't know you. Like, why would he know you're joking? And it's just so, yeah, we got to play with this guy now. And I'm like having to like fake, like like to show them like it's a hey hey he's joking he's messing with you and anyway then that conversation kind of leads to the guy eventually being like oh or no yeah i was going to but i'm just i could play with you guys instead and so that guy didn't end up playing with us probably because of isaac's joke i think isaac for the longest time did not make those jokes and then he hung out with us enough that he was like oh i see how brad and jake make those jokes sometimes
Starting point is 00:23:28 and they're sarcastic i could do this all people like it people think it's funny and it takes you have to master those kind of jokes and every once in a while we still fall flat on our face you and i do uh you you actually told a joke that you bombed just the other day yeah i unfortunately had to say that was a joke which is is ultimate. Just like I lost you on. Yeah. And so, you know, sarcasm or that one time, what was it? I can't remember the specifics, but something about like at the Starbucks barista. You remember we were going to Texas and the Starbucks barista is like a hot single.
Starting point is 00:23:56 And I was like, you're looking at him. No, nothing. Yeah. What? So you said hot. No tip. No tip. So we all, we all struggle through things like that but i think isaac isaac is still still learning still in the uh tutelage thing i'm also proud of him
Starting point is 00:24:12 like i'm a little tentative to try and like truly be myself if i just met someone you know i have a little bit of my guard up and like once i get to know me all right then i'll joke around and i gotta give isaac some props like he will be himself he's like i i like to joke around and i will joke around immediately. Yeah, he's super sweet with people initially and everything. Yeah, I agree with what you're saying there. But anyway, back to the bachelor party. Got to play with this guy.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Yeah, you have in-laws coming now. Yeah, my cousin Steve, who's a groomsman. Let me just preface this by saying, I mean, Jake is not like the real sheltered kid in real life. But what you're about to say is like totally something sheltered kid would do on his bachelor party. As far as like these people who are coming. Yes. Yeah. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Yeah. My cousin Steve, he's a year older than me. I invited him. He's not able to come. Oh, he's not. But instead. I hadn't heard that. His dad is coming.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Yeah. In his place. Instead my uncle's coming. My uncle's like super cool guys. Okay. His dad is coming in his place. It said my uncle's coming. My uncle's like super cool, guys, okay? So not only now, for those keeping track, it's like my 45 groomsmen who are coming. This really fun crew of people,
Starting point is 00:25:17 other friends on top of that. But then, so we've got Rachel's dad, my uncle John, my dad, and my dad's best friend from high school is now coming. And he probably lives in phoenix or something right like well that's just stopping by well he's he's very similar time zone yeah san diego okay so it's just you know quick just pop on over and so anyway no it really bill it will be really fun and all the adults like old adults who are coming are like really really fun people right they might be more fun than the rest yeah like uniquely fun people like i'm gonna be like guys it's 10 o'clock i'm going to bed uncle john's like we're not playing
Starting point is 00:25:52 more blackjack we gotta go to the casino so uh yeah it'll be really fun my dad like called me and he was like nervous to like tell me this he's like here's what i'm thinking because i want to do a bunch of team-based stuff then i think it'd be fun we could have four teams of four and the old men would just be their own team and i was like 100 i promise you i promise you i'm okay with this steve coop is amazing yeah he's the man and then even steve coop called rachel's like jake's dad invited me to the bachelor party like are you sure this is okay like i promise i promised everyone yeah so i'm so excited and yeah when i tell people that like this be, this is going to go down a bachelor party history.
Starting point is 00:26:27 And the thing is like, all of our friends are so adaptable and like, so accepting and excited about it. Like, you know what I mean? It's not like, oh, these guys are going to harsh them. It's like, no, we're going to have so much fun together. We're going to like, you know, it just like, it changes the dynamic obviously, but it changes it in a good way. Like we all look at it as as a positive change of like,
Starting point is 00:26:45 let's have some inside jokes with these guys now. I think anyone in our friend group is not like, I don't want to make more friends. I don't want to have more fun. It's going to be wild. It'll be great. It'll be great, man.
Starting point is 00:27:01 I was in Texas this past, we'll call it five days yeah uh and did uh watch watch basketball most of the time in texas but have a few different uh highlights of the of the trip down there and then there as well uh first of all we stopped at chick-fil-a in oklahoma it's kind of like our main place that we always stop on the way we only stopped once on the way down which is like a big deal for kansas city to dallas yeah um stopped once in muskogee oklahoma have you been there i know seen muskogee seen the signs yeah great i mean just amazing place let me tell you but uh stopped there at the chick-fil-a and uh you know we're getting all the kids out of the car
Starting point is 00:27:40 and bo is in this huge cowboy stage right now like always wanting to wear his cowboy boots wanting to wear his chaps wanting to wear his cowboy boots, wanting to wear his chaps, wanting to wear his hat. You know, he's got this holster and he's got a toy gun. And so before I know it, you know, we're walking into Chick-fil-A, I'm asking him what he wants. And I looked down and he's got his gun in his holster, like at Chick-fil-A. And I was like, I don't, I mean, obviously it has like the orange tip on it and everything, but I was like, I don't know if this is a good idea, but I was like, whatever. I'm not going to, it's Oklahoma. He didn't.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Yeah. It's Oklahoma. He didn't nap that day. I'm not going to like push my luck. He never like pulls it in public. If he, if he napped, no, if he didn't. Yeah. If he's, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:18 If he's unruly, he's not going to do anything crazy with the gun. And so I just was like, I'll let it go. Whatever. Who cares? And, and Catherine hadn't seen the gun um and so i just was like i'll let it go whatever who cares um and and katherine hadn't seen the gun yet katherine was like changing rosie in the bathroom or something uh and so i tell hattie and bo to go play in the play place there's only like two other kids in there no problem right and you know we get i order all my stuff i go sit down katherine comes and sits down next to me and she looks back at the play play. She's like, Bo is
Starting point is 00:28:45 shooting those kids with this gun. You know, and you see him like, you know how like two year olds have like funny, like really jerky movements. So he's just like. And you know, I'm like, oh, and the kid seemed like he was enjoying it because he's from Oklahoma
Starting point is 00:29:03 to this kid, you know, and then you know, two minutes later, this kid has the gun, he's shooting bow. Good. So they're just having a good time playing, you know, playing cops and robbers or whatever they're doing. Cowboys and Native Americans. Cowboys and Stratford's. Cowboys and Aborigines.
Starting point is 00:29:17 Cowboys and Chiefs. Good. Yeah. Warriors. On play places. Yes. Are they, is a play place, like, is that a good product like is it is it are those good yes they are well what exactly like um they seem like small to me and not that
Starting point is 00:29:33 exciting but is it exciting enough for a kid yeah i think so i mean especially if you're on a road trip you know i mean you've been cooped up sitting in the seat for so long energy out it's great for great for parents because it's like it's enclosed and you know so you're not like worried about them running off it's great for the kids i mean obviously a playground outside would be better um but yeah i mean bo's still like nervous to go up the stairs of a play okay it's like plenty it's plenty for him hattie is about as content as anybody with most things and so she thought it was so fun and just like you know like those one day friends they're just making friends in there having Patty is about as content as anybody with most things. And so she thought it was so fun. And just like,
Starting point is 00:30:06 you know, like those one day friends, there's making friends in there, having playing games. Yeah. There's having, it's a lot more fun than sitting and doing, you know, word searches in the car.
Starting point is 00:30:14 So how funny would that be if your kids, for some reason, had a knack to like follow up? Like they didn't really like this whole one day friend thing. And Bo was like, you looked in and Bo was like getting that kid's like home phone number. You just see him. We should do this. It gets like it like whips out a notepad from his yeah his pocket he's like are you guys from Muskogee like I could talk to my parent we could stop here more
Starting point is 00:30:32 like we come to Dallas a lot like Bo like was like networking let's let you know let's hang out every time let's get here every time coordinate like and is it always trickle do you know of a better spot for us like they have better slides somewhere uh your mom and my mom should exchange numbers and we'll have to do this again sometime. That would be awesome. Having like a, and by the way,
Starting point is 00:30:49 do you guys have a home church here in Muskogee? Cause if so, maybe like we'll, we'll think about coming for a Wednesday and I don't want us sometime. We totally could. That would be funny. I, I,
Starting point is 00:30:59 Hattie, Hattie has started like trying to like set up play dates with her and her friends at gymnastics that we don't know there. She's like, I told Riley that her mom needs to talk to you because we want to play together sometime i'm like look at you making some plans it's a good way to meet people in adulthood too through your children now you get to meet riley's parents and that's the thing is that i don't really know how maybe maybe ghosties in the comments can tell us i don't know how to like have a play date with with like do we just Do the parents come and stay at the house for the play date,
Starting point is 00:31:29 or do they drop them off? I don't know how things work in 2023. Because back in the day, I feel like we just went over to our friend's house, and they dropped us off, and then our parents came and picked us up. Yeah. But I don't know. When I was five years old, six years old now, for Hattie, how that works. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Yeah. That's fun so yeah bow bow brought a gun in public but it was oklahoma so it was okay um the other things i wrote down real quick speaking of kind of the south and oklahoma okay uh i had some good rangers last night and it was nice yeah yeah i don't know i was wondering you came over after dinner and i was like dude what's up with you like what what is that glow about you bro and i said oh rachel thought some chicken and it was pre-seasoned and we just kind of air fried it and it was amazing wow yeah it really was it was so easy rachel like texted me she's like hey are you at uh are you still at the house like working and she's like yeah can you like thaw out this chicken which the thawing process kind of interesting to me i was like maybe it's
Starting point is 00:32:32 like set out she's like put it in a bowl any temperature water it's like doesn't matter she's like actually they say not to do hot oh didn't know that yeah fun anyway just on thawing okay who knows it it just makes it thaw more evenly maybe i do i do not know i have no idea the science of it yeah great um timing do you know what the science no idea okay just in case i like the idea of like timing you're about to say something right timing you had your hand up time to go ahead no okay i thought yeah that's so great when someone's not on camera you're like okay oh it looks like you wanted interrupting begging to say something you unmuted go ahead yeah he took his hat off he's waving it at us like you want it now he gets quiet yeah
Starting point is 00:33:17 it's like on the office sorry good rangers we'll get back to you it's like on the office whatever uh michael is you know with oscar at that big convention and oscar's or michael's like tell tell him what you were telling me oscar like this is good stuff and oscar's like i feel like we're in good hands capable hands he's like that's not what you were telling me my brother does the exact same thing he'll like i'll say something he's like wait but but you told me you hated it i'm like and it's like i don't know how to like yeah come clean like i yeah i'm telling the truth yeah he sounds so convincing oh your brother's like messing with you yeah oh i thought i thought i was like i'm telling my parents i like something he's like wait but you just told me you oh that's
Starting point is 00:34:00 awesome not true not true not true wait no he's joking. Oh, right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Yeah. You, you do love it. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Yeah. I'm sure what you told me you got home at. Oh yeah. Yeah. 10 o'clock. 10. Yeah. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:34:14 how do you, how do you recover from that? Cause yeah. Yeah. The more you like get fired up, the more like guilty you probably look. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:34:21 It's the Chicago. We think, yeah. Have you heard about how Catherine says Sacagawea, Chicago? We no she's not even here to defend herself it's not fair i it's like it's like the smallest lie ever and katherine can't defend it because it's like like she doesn't say sacagawee but it's really fun to be like no she thinks it's pronounced sacagawee everyone else says sacagawea but she says sacagawee and she's like no i don't and then she's like no i do not i don't see see here she goes she's gonna, I do not. I don't. Seriously. See, here she goes. She's going to deny it.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Not again. Yeah. So anyway. Anyway, how'd we get? So you had some, oh, just. Oh yeah, Tymon was trying to interrupt us.
Starting point is 00:34:53 Tymon was trying to say something, yeah, about the thawing process. I don't know how thawing works. Yeah. But yeah, we had several just fillets of Good Rancher's chicken last night. It really was great.
Starting point is 00:35:01 It was so like easy. I was like, dinner's already ready. Rachel's like, yeah. And I was like, oh, this is awesome. Oh yeah. Weird right now. We I was like, dinner's already ready? Rachel's like, yeah. I was like, oh, this is awesome. Weird right now. We had some pre-seasoned
Starting point is 00:35:08 chicken, air fried it, put on some pita bread. Honestly, it was a new meal for me last night. It was Kevin Malone style. This is a new food for me. Rachel, it was kind of a Greek type dinner. She put some tzatziki. Is that even the right word? I don't know if that's how you pronounce it.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Time in your Greek. time in your time in your greek right i don't know if that's yeah i think that's how you pronounce it tzatziki so that was on there just looked like like rage dressing with like cilantro in it yeah pretty much and then some other type of like dressing which i should know the name of now but it was pretty good and then there's some lettuce in there and just kind of ball it it up. I like the idea of it like some other kind of dressing. It's not even dressing. It's hummus. I mean, it's like really thick dressing. Some like authentic Greek thing.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Yeah. Anyway, and it was great. And I really look forward to more Good Ranchers food. The only issue I have with Good Ranchers is that there's never leftovers. Right? You know, I would love to go in there right now and eat some good rangers chicken but there's none left brother i think yeah my biggest complaint is it's not my mouth right now
Starting point is 00:36:10 is that there's not even more of it yeah no uh my whole family actually when i was in texas like catherine's catherine's side of the family ordered good ranchers they were all excited about it um and yeah it's just it's it's got so many great options right yeah i mean because it's not just chicken it's not if you have a tick bite going on plenty of chicken and fish for it but yeah but they got some good beef yeah and you get we'll introduce tymon's parents to the beef yeah you get bacon with every uh subscription order i believe uh you can enter to win free bacon for a year go to good ranchers.com um and yeah good ranchers american meat delivered the crazy thing for me is that if you if you commit to a subscription right now the price
Starting point is 00:36:51 never changes for life that's that's pretty amazing you're locked in get it now because i don't know if you've been following the news but beef prices are going skyrocketing right now and it's not even good beef good ranchers is good beef and it's at a good price and you should support them because they support us good company twenty dollars off with code grkc grkc good ranchers.com cool back to texas oklahoma back to texas oklahoma um yeah beau is yeah like i said just running around like a cowboy constantly dude like i mean he was literally like in his cowboy garb but then he had a seahorse a stick horse like a that's okay he called it silver like uh lone ranger and he just but but the thing that he does perfectly is you know how like cowboys it's more like uh like rodeo cowboys but they take their hat kind of as they're going they
Starting point is 00:37:40 kind of like slap the horse with it bow has mastered the horse slap as he's running. I mean, he's like kind of yelling like little, like, I don't know, manly grunt kind of. Yeah. And it's amazing. He's just stomping all around. And there's not much more to it than just, I was just enamored by him for like 30 minutes.
Starting point is 00:38:01 I would love to see Bo just. He was running around the circle. Spanking himself. I mean, yeah, the hat, the hat movement is perfect. And then yesterday when I got home from working with you, I pulled up and he comes out of the porch doing the same thing with his hat, just running up and down. So he wants to be a cowboy.
Starting point is 00:38:17 I'm really looking forward to hopefully like this summer, or even just this spring, once it starts getting warmer out, like being able to just play with your kids outdoors more. Honestly, I think Bo might be my outdoor outdoor kid hattie might be my indoor kid because we're connected on egypt we're connected on you know uh some just scholastic type things oh yeah how do you just got a math problem bedtime math book for her birthday yesterday you would love it bedtime math it's just like yeah it's just it's just all sort of math problems and yeah she's
Starting point is 00:38:45 she's great and she'll be great in the outdoors too because she'll teach you probably some things she'll be like listen this is how you garden this is how you uh yeah plant some vegetables this is a poinsettia oh wow that was a weed the old summer poinsettias yeah i don't even know yeah i think that's i don't know maybe they grow in the summer but it's like a big christmas thing oh those are poinsettias. I can picture them now. So anyway, yeah. Tymon, you were saying? Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:39:12 No? Okay, you clammed up again. Okay, bud. Hey, if it's too big of a moment for you, just scale back. Give the mic to somebody else. Go trick another girl. We were talking about playing outside with your kids it just reminded me rachel wants to get uh your kids maybe one of those like backyard slip and slides okay but keep
Starting point is 00:39:31 it at our house because we have that tiny little hill perfect yeah i love it over here i love that fun thing like you want to go over and slip inside on our way home from texas haddie was like so dramatic sounding and i'm like you're such a you know diva but she's like we have to go see miss rachel tomorrow it's been days since we've seen her i'm like give me a break uh but have we have we talked on the podcast about the uh little bird bird uh i don't think so bird cage yeah it's a hard word to find rachel i always get it wrong too i always say like uh bird feeder we'll call it bird house bird house yeah see i even bird cage i confirmed bird cageachel i always get it wrong too i always say like uh bird feeder we'll call it bird house bird house yeah see i didn't bird cage i confirmed bird cage see i always get it wrong rachel i always get it wrong bird house because it's wooden bird cage is more see-through
Starting point is 00:40:12 translucent sure um yeah there's a you you mentioned last night like yeah the old owners of the house were so nice to leave us some great oh they left us yeah just trash an old fridge with stuff still in the fridge and the freezer an oil drum filled with ash um some of their children's belongings several balloons a sled a ton of crap in the attic yeah just uh yeah they left in a hurry but one of the things was a bird house a bird house not up on a tree though i don't think it was just on the ground and it hasn't moved from the lawn uh but one of the things that we're starting to do rachel and our kids are starting to like put little treasures in for each other back and forth so when we go when katherine the kids
Starting point is 00:40:55 go on walks they'll like go and see what miss rachel has in there for her and then they might put a little note in there for yeah it's so cute rachel said she wants to establish some type of like a flag system like when the flag is up it means there's a prize in the box yeah perfect that's so fun yeah or lynn you know paul revere style oh you know one of fin cage two of two if by uh slip inside something like that a lot of potential for new neighbors a lot of potential let's see a few more things just updates on my life. Rosie, I think, is the happiest baby of all time. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:41:29 She's very, very happy. She's doing this thing right now where you look at her, she starts smiling, she throws her head back, and she's like, ah! It's just so sweet. And then the last thing that I had written down about Texas was just watching, I mean, we watched four days in a row of basketball, well, three days in a row of basketball together, me and my father-in-law, and it was glorious.
Starting point is 00:41:51 But also my father-in-law is definitely like, he's a funny guy. I'll say this, I'll preface. He has like different comedy routines that he definitely does throughout the games. And honestly, he is a funny guy. I genuinely think he's funny, but I'm also his son-in-law, and I'm also the kind of guy that when i can tell somebody's trying to make a joke i usually
Starting point is 00:42:09 laugh at him just because that's i people would feel good if you'd laugh at their jokes uh and so he just i i wrote down a few different things um that he would just love like he just loves a captive audience and so you know the entire, he's just making jokes about different things. The one big one, you know, Kevin Harlan is, he's the announcer. Yes. Yeah. He, my father, I'm calling both games. Yeah. No. Yeah. He's awesome. He's, I hope he's, you know, Jim Nance is retiring from March madness. And I hope that Kevin Harlan is like the new guy, but my father-in-law observed that Kevin Harlan does a very extended, like whenever he's like, you know, observing a play or like yelling about a play, he just keeps like doing a run on sentence.
Starting point is 00:42:52 And so my father-in-law basically did the same thing. Anytime Kevin Harlan got excited, he'd be like, and then there they go. They're going down the court and they make it and it's a crazy atmosphere and it's crazy. And what is it? And, you know, I'm like like i get the joke and i'm starting to laugh at it he just keeps going and i'm like okay okay cool yeah yeah yeah yeah um and then he loves all the charles barkley commercials every time one of those came on
Starting point is 00:43:15 he just died laughing gary did uh and then the other one that he did was he loved anytime like there was a meta like he would just do metaphors for mascots all the time you know he'd be like the blue jays uh you know get on their you know soar on their wings and get to the next round oh gosh i enjoyed it no it was it was really fun it truly was fun but it was one of those things where i was like he knows he's got a captive audience here with his son-in-law who loves his his daughter very much and so he's going to you know spend plenty of time and i love watching sports as much as gary does and so yeah we just watched all these games together and he was he was doing all these funny bits does he have
Starting point is 00:43:54 any like old man tendencies when it comes to watching basketball like anything he's really big on like they're not blocking out like consistent complaints about the way basketball is played a little bit of like, um, yeah. Getting the ball inside or drive, drive to the basket. There it is. What's with the three pointers?
Starting point is 00:44:10 To be fair, like he is really a ball. Like he is really like, he watches a lot of sports. So he knows, he knows ball. Um, but there's sometimes where I agree with them or it's like, they're not making the threes.
Starting point is 00:44:20 They need to just drive the basket. And what is the stimp on this court? What kind of court stimp that's good timing i was you were i could tell you're waving your hand that's why his hand was up just itching over here yeah you could tell he knows what he's talking about but yeah he says that um he he's he's a big fan of like you know they're they're down by let's say they're down by four points late in the game. Hey,
Starting point is 00:44:46 just go for two, like score two here. Yeah. We don't need a three. Here's a classic one. We don't need a three, just score two. And I agree.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Like most of the things I'm like, I agree with you, but it is kind of old school. Like what are you saying? He was so he, and I, I agree with this too. Like the Purdue,
Starting point is 00:45:00 uh, so Purdue lost time and Purdue was the number one, one that one of the best top four teams in the entire 68 team tournament. And they lost to literally the worst or one of the worst teams in the tournament. Huge, huge upset. And Purdue had this guy that's like 7'4". And the other team's
Starting point is 00:45:17 tallest player was 6'4". They were the shortest team in Division I basketball. Yeah, they were the shortest team. Of course, my father-in-law was like, why aren't they passing to the big man every single time? Yeah. And I didn't have a good answer for him. Get Goliath the ball.
Starting point is 00:45:30 Yeah, seriously. So that was one of those times where it was like, the big man is kind of dying in basketball unless they're really versatile. But at the same time, it's like, surely it's not that dead. Like, just throw the ball at that guy. So anyway. I had Purdue winning my bracket. And then so once that happened, I have not checked anything. Crumpled it all. Got out on that. Yeah. It's rough. dead like just throw the ball to that guy so anyway i had purdue winning my bracket and then
Starting point is 00:45:45 so once that happened i have not checked anything crumpled it got out on that yeah it's rough oh well um do we want to talk about maybe some things new in our life maybe some things that we like for the first time we chide this week yeah i would love to try something something something we tried this week yeah okay you go first um what'd you try this week jake one of the first things i think of that i tried this week actually came from something we first tried at your house something i first tried in gifted class back in the day oh yeah logic puzzles oh had fun uh racing with uh rachel and katherine you know you guys got your own book at your house so we bought our own yeah and it's been nice kind of like a hatties like bedtime math i'm kind of
Starting point is 00:46:24 doing my own you know nighttime lodge you bought your own so you. And it's been nice. Kind of like Hattie's bedtime math. I'm kind of doing my own. You know, nighttime lodge. You bought your own, so you purchased it? There it is. Yes, I did. Good for you. Yeah. So that's something new this week. Really getting down on logic puzzles.
Starting point is 00:46:35 And it's fun. Logic puzzles. Logic puzzles. I feel like I'm working kind of that part of my brain that used to do math a lot and just used to do school a lot that I don't do very much. Yeah. Yeah. You're Abdullah Chaik Long longata keep it coming that's that one didn't really work
Starting point is 00:46:51 um what yeah tell me more about the logic puzzles like are they similar to the ones that katherine that you guys did i'm starting at the front of the book so they're not as robust but are they like word problems yeah yeah same exact like problems okay but not rachel actually pointed out something like it's almost like um like they'll give you like if you don't know these logic puzzles are like set up in a grid it almost looks like a punnet square type i feel like it's like a word tell me if i'm wrong it's like a word version of a sudoku oh i've never thought of it that way yes yeah in a way it's like it's like if this then that okay if not this this or, then probably this or whatever. You're crossing out things that cannot exist to try and find what is
Starting point is 00:47:27 existing. And so, it'll give you clues. Like, let's say this logic puzzle is all about ice cream. There's five different guys, five different ice cream flavors, ice cream flavors. One of them is chai. And there's five different types of toppings they got on it in five different restaurants
Starting point is 00:47:44 where they got ice cream or whatever. You have to pair all these up. So, to give you clues, like, Roger did not get vanilla. Okay, and cross that off. Cross that off. So, those are, like, the clues. Those actually help. But before the clues, there's just, like, a preamble
Starting point is 00:47:56 that is so unnecessary already. Like, no one needs to read it, right? It's just like, I don't need any of this. It just gives you some fun. Like, imagine with me. Roger and his friends always go out and eat ice cream every friday after their pickup basketball game and so it's kind of saying like all right you don't really need to read this whatever but rachel of course like reads all she she's such a student and she pointed out that some of them have like even extra
Starting point is 00:48:16 unnecessary information it would say like um you know ronda is picking out uh ronda and her four friends are picking out five different types of flowers. She hasn't picked them out yet, and in parentheses, because she's late, like always. Oh, just throwing shade at Rhonda
Starting point is 00:48:32 for no reason. Rachel's like, look at this, like, why is this in here? I was like, wait, that is really weird.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Like, it's already unnecessary. And on top of that, it's like this personality trait that has nothing to do with like females and flower types or whatever.
Starting point is 00:48:43 It's like, because she's often late. She's not super punctual. Her parents raised her in a kind of broken household. It's just like, we don't need to know this. She hasn't bought them yet because she's in
Starting point is 00:48:57 crippling debt right now. Money's a little tight right now. A lot of it was in crypto. It did not go well for her. I was doing a logic puzzle last night when Rachel got back from, uh, counseling stuff and she was like, Ooh, does it have like anything parentheses this time or whatever she asked?
Starting point is 00:49:10 I was like, no, this one's pretty standard. So I think from now on you, yeah, just make up your own narrative the whole time. Like, no,
Starting point is 00:49:17 of course Roger wouldn't have vanilla. Like that guy is adventurous. He just, he just went to trikes peak, you know, like last summer and climb the whole thing. There it is. Anyway, what's something you tried this week? I tried, I mean, speaking of Texas
Starting point is 00:49:30 the same, I tried containing my frustration while watching my favorite basketball team lose while my in-laws watched it. And it was, it was tough. It was, it was one of those things. KU was playing Arkansas. I know we got some Razorback listeners here. KU didn't have their coach, their legendary hall of fame coach
Starting point is 00:49:49 has been suffering some illnesses, weird heart stuff. Um, and so, but KU should have won. They played the better game. And at the end they just lost it. And I, I analyzed it later. Like there's no, there's no right way to watch as the in-law as, as everyone else watching it with me, there's no right way for them to watch it because they did a pretty good job of like being invested in the game and like caring about the game with me. But even that kind of like was hard for me. Cause it's like,
Starting point is 00:50:18 you don't really care that you're going to, you're going to leave in two minutes and not care about this at all. And it's going to bum me out for the next like five days, you know? And, but then again, if they like didn't say anything or if they weren't paying attention at all, then I'd be frustrated about that. I'm like, why am I here watching it with them? Why can't I just be in my own room watching this thing? So I think maybe the best thing is to just be quiet the entire time, but that's no fun
Starting point is 00:50:40 for anybody. So I just contained my frustration. I think they kind of saw like, oh, Brad cares a lot about KU basketball. Wow, Brad just threw the remote. It's stuck in the drywall. Okay, the chai wall. And yeah, so yeah, I tried just trying to be a good person and have perspective. And I think I did do a pretty good job of having a good attitude afterwards.
Starting point is 00:51:01 It's just one of those things that like it's so the NCAA tournament is so is so fun but then when your team loses kind of like you're saying when like your purdue loses that's the point it's kind of like okay this isn't as fun anymore like those first two days though are just just heavenly it's just so fun so yeah i i tried i tried just uh caring about more than sports sometimes life's bigger than sports sometimes it is okay it's bigger than guys like Alan Chiverson. You know, it's not all about that. Yeah. Derek Chider.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Better than I could have come up with on the spot. I almost just said Jeter. It's better than Mark Maitreyer. Right? Right? Albert Chiholes. Chiholes. Chiholes. right right albert chai holes chai holes uh anyway the reason we're saying chai so much is because chike coffee right here can you hear it probably not because it's almost empty because we we
Starting point is 00:51:54 consume it a lot um anyway but chike is sponsoring us again they sponsor that segment uh something we chide this week because they got a new chai flavor so check them out it's protein uh coffee powder everyone loves chike whenever they tried or you know when they've sponsored us before so um and they're giving you guys 25 off which is absurd so go do this before they change their mind and realize they're losing a lot of money by doing it so use code ghost runners at chike.com c-h-i-k-e chike.com code ghost runners 25% off and chai some chai but they've also got other flavors
Starting point is 00:52:29 and you can subscribe and save and you know try out some new sample packs and whatnot so good guys it'll it'll energize you it'll fill you up it'll do it all oh wait did you have some chiming chai chai chai
Starting point is 00:52:44 chai chai chai yeah Oh, wait. Did you have something? Chymon? Chy, chy, chy! Chy, chy, chy! Chy! Yeah, Chymon! That caught me so off guard, because like I said last time, I can't really see Chymon, and I didn't know- He was looking down at his phone. He wasn't even like- I didn't even know who said that.
Starting point is 00:52:56 I didn't see the enthusiasm. Oh, that was great, dude. That caught me so off guard. Yeah, it's no longer Tymon. It's Chymon. Chymon. Tymon is going to Chymon. Tymon, you want to Chymon. Chymon. Timon is going to Chymon. Timon, you want to Chymon?
Starting point is 00:53:07 Chymon with Timon. Yeah. Oh, man. Now, something I tried this week slash Chymon with Timon. Go ahead and Chymon. Yeah. Chymon real quick. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:15 That's great. Thank you to Chyke for sponsoring us. Please support them and support us. We appreciate it. Cool, cool, cool. Chymon. Dang, that's good. You want Chymon?

McDonald's has a new biggest burger called Big Arch, made with two 100% Canadian beef patties, a new delicious sauce, and all the McDonald's flavors you love,

From the executive producers of Lost. This place will not break us. The Phenomenon returns to Paramount+. The only way we go home is together.
Starting point is 00:55:16 From new season now streaming exclusively on Paramount+. Go ahead. Anyone else want to sponsor us? We will make a ton of puns with your name we have so much fun with it if your flavors are good flavor flaves uh we had a fun little zoom call kind of thing last night yep uh with all the people coming to florida which was really fun really the main thing i want to bring up is technically it was a google meet call and you would think katherine when she joined was some sort of Neanderthal.
Starting point is 00:55:45 My gosh. The girl is 30. How old is she? 32 going on 80. What did your watch say there? I know. It's one of those. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:54 It says it's Wednesday, March 22nd. Okay. So, yeah. So, yeah. She is so old school with stuff like that. Just immediately, Rachel and Catherine come down like, hey, join in, join in. And just like, whoa, what is this? Whoa, there are so old school with stuff like that. Just immediately, Rachel and Catherine come down like, hey, join in, join in. And just like, whoa, what is this?
Starting point is 00:56:07 Whoa, there are so many faces on there. Whoa, so you guys are... There's so many. You guys are calling everyone and they could see us. And it's like, we were in the middle of like talking to them. And now it's just like, Catherine's like, whoa, whoa, whoa. That is honestly the bigger thing. Like, is that that blows my mind is how she doesn't like understand that.
Starting point is 00:56:23 Like everything you're saying everyone else can hear and like you have a hundred percent of their attention yeah it's like you know because sometimes we'll do like instagram lives very rarely but she'll be like what what are you doing what and like she'll like or she'll like whisper to me i'm like everyone can still hear you when you whisper to me because i feel the pressure if you're on any kind of live stream or call it's like i need to be engaging the entire time sure like no no lag time no off conversations like this is it they're giving me their time right i need to you know yeah we we did so much of those uh zoom call we did do a lot of zoom calls recently for that uh k-life hiring but so many of them were her like off to the side
Starting point is 00:57:02 and my microphone was muted like she was listening but she wasn't even in the shot because she was doing motherly things like she was you know reading a book to go to bed or she was folding laundry or whatever so um yeah so in some ways it's like i guess you kind of know what we're doing here but it was just like what i was saying and then somebody would talk and i'd be like oh katherine what do you think about what Patrick said? And she's like, where are you seeing? How do you know it's Patrick? Where is he? It's like, it's the one that says Patrick.
Starting point is 00:57:31 And whenever he talks, the blue light like pops up. They make it pretty easy. Oh, she was like amazed that you could raise your hand, like virtually raise your hand. Like click this button. She's like, how are you seeing? Where are their hands going? But honestly, it made it funny.
Starting point is 00:57:47 It was almost like this recurring joke that I don't think Catherine was doing on purpose, but it ended up being great. It was so funny. Oh, yeah. It's amazing. I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden it was like, she's not good at technology at all. She had an iPhone before me. And so for a while, she would teach me when I first got my iPhone what to do.
Starting point is 00:58:03 And now it's like, what? Did you just not use your phone for four years or what happened here that's fun to think about things even in rachel's relationship like one of us is the expert now it's gonna switch yeah what will it be either way that's crazy thing that katherine at one point taught you something about an iphone yeah it's hard to imagine like i remember like she showed me what instagram was back in the day because i didn't have an, like I didn't, I had my little like, you know, Blackberry like knockoff from Sprint. Yeah. And she was, yeah, she had the iPhone 3. You showed her what a Bible was. Like here's where I spend my time. I showed her, yeah. So here's, yeah, the good stuff right here. So
Starting point is 00:58:35 I think one thing that maybe you'll eventually surpass Rachel at, but you're not quite there yet is decorating hall trees. you want to talk about that sure yeah um first i need to come clean to my father who listens to this podcast so okay jake go ahead and come clean uh so let's start from the beginning my dad uh i'm gonna be your father okay great he um so he calls me up one day i called you up hey bling bling bling bling what do you yeah i feel like whenever you answer he's just like what are you doing does he say that it's usually uh yeah we both howdy yo yo what are you doing what are you doing yeah yeah yeah you're good okay and so in his company every year they do like a an Oh, Tymon? Yeah, you coughed? What was that?
Starting point is 00:59:29 All right, so in my company, every year we do an auction. An auction. Where the different salespeople accrue points throughout the year, and you can use those points to bid on items that the company has available for you. Yeah, so you know how it goes. We get points that we accrue throughout the year, and we get to bid on different items. And it's fun. My mom and dad together are this amazing different items. And it's fun.
Starting point is 00:59:47 My mom and dad together are this amazing tag team. My dad's a great salesman, has all these points, the most in the company. And my mom is just so detail-oriented where she's got a spreadsheet of every item that's possible. She knows what's a deal. The MSRP and the point value,
Starting point is 00:59:59 this is actually undervalued. Do not go over $349 for this thing. You think it's expensive because of their suggested value, but really, they're ripping you off on this one and it's impressive because it's not just like one point is one dollar it's like a thousand points is one dollar so it's kind of you have to do this math in your head of like all right is the stainless steel grill worth 58 000 point i don't know you know it's yeah uh i love this yeah and so they found all these deals
Starting point is 01:00:24 and it's so fun. They get so excited. They end up with all these like kind of new big gifts and appliances every year. And I don't know if most of them get used, but I think now to the point, they just got to give them. I think my dad got a zero turn radius lawnmower one year. Wow. Like so serious stuff.
Starting point is 01:00:38 Yeah. Like high value stuff. And I'm like nowadays, the last few years, it's always like trying to get stuff for me and Caitlin or like they got like just like a big like love seat before or ottoman like you know decent sized stuff or like something like that you could eat chips uh while you're reading yeah that was just that was Santa actually that was Santa stocking that I got great gift but so they were like hey would you and Rachel want this like uh hall tree hey Jake we're just we got this hall tree we were wondering
Starting point is 01:01:05 if you and you and you and rach wanted it just call it because i call him rachel rach yet i don't think so yeah okay i know he says kate yeah he does sometimes didn't want it you know so that brayden brayden couldn't handle it kate and her idiot fiance yeah he's a burst of trees after he got you know lost in the forest first the trees yeah it's like yeah we'll take the whole tree it's great and all right about a week or two ago i opened up the box rachel was gone maybe it was the friday you were in texas it might have been last week or something i don't know either way i was like maybe i'll uh i'm gonna assemble this and i opened the box and there are a thousand pieces to this it was the most intense like ikea
Starting point is 01:01:46 times five of like what it would have taken to assemble this thing and i'd always heard of task rabbit but i'd never done it before so i looked into it and yeah it was awesome some guy came in and this is a professional he comes in and just assembles things for a living it still took him an hour and a half to do it so i who knows how long it would have taken me to do it wow like he just got to work he lays out this blanket like there was no small talk you ready to work i was like go for it i was like you want me to put some march madness on music do you need a drink or anything he like didn't want to chat he didn't want anything he was just there to work yeah this guy this guy's he makes money off of efficiency so he's like i don't i don't need anything yeah get out of my
Starting point is 01:02:20 way sipping's a waste of time brother unless it's chike maybe that's right and so uh that's chike anyway so but yeah it was like it cost me like 45 for him to do that in an hour and a half and during that time like 45 000 points 45 000 points yeah or so and also during that time i edited our mizzen and main video so it's just a great picture of the time value of money yeah you know money baby and timing is time this Time is money. This guy is money. And anyway, me and my dad were on a phone call. I was kind of running around doing something. And I'd sent my parents a picture of the hall tree.
Starting point is 01:02:52 And my dad was like, yeah, it looked good. Was that pretty easy to assemble? And I would go, yeah. Yeah, it looked good. Because we were about to be... It took about an hour and a half. No lies. I didn't say it was easy for me.
Starting point is 01:03:05 Yeah. Because I think we called to talk about wedding stuff. It's like, we're about to go to this other conversation. Yeah. I don't want to have to tell them that I paid someone else to do it. Because my dad is the one. I mean, he mows every lawn in Greene County. It's like, I'm not going to pay anyone to do this.
Starting point is 01:03:20 My parents are in the hospital. I'm going to mow their lawn. Angie and John, they're having some health issues. I'm going to mow their lawn too. Now John, they're having some health issues. I'm going to mow their lawn too. Now my son's paying some- Some hillbilly. Yeah, some task jack rabbit to do something for me. I get them the thing for free and you can't even put it together.
Starting point is 01:03:37 And so, yeah, dad, sorry. I kind of lied on the phone. But yeah, it was easy. But I mean, how valuable is a hall tree when it's naked, right? So that's the thing. I was like, yeah, Rachel's out of town. I think it'd be really fun for her to come back to her house, and I've decorated it. And so I just got to work.
Starting point is 01:03:55 I've never decorated really anything, much less a hall tree next to our fireplace. But it fits really nicely in there. And yeah, I just threw together, like, I found this lamp and threw that on top of it and i found some books uh sponsor of wednesday's episode yeah shout out little preview uh put that book on the shelf i put some some fake plants that i found uh and then i folded up a blanket and put it on it which rachel thinks is hilarious but like where'd you put the blanket on the very top i think that's what really put it over the top like literally yeah i went and got some of rachel's coats and hung them on the rack but the coat colors match the rug oh and our barstool color oh and anyway decorated it and sent it to my mom and i was like thanks for the whole tree and she
Starting point is 01:04:40 was like whoa somebody's watching hgtv i was like I guess that's good. It's my first altry. So yeah, all I have to say, I couldn't get over the blanket. 10 years from now, maybe I'll be the decorator. Someday you might be the one, you know,
Starting point is 01:04:51 putting things together. Well, yeah, putting, making a house a home. Yes. Yeah. 100%.
Starting point is 01:04:56 Rachel will be the task rabbit. She'll be assembling it. She'll be hopping around. Oh my gosh. Hopping around. Yeah, that's kind of fun. I'm trying to think what else happened this week i uh our friend morgan mitchell morgan caldwell she hollered at me she's like hey me
Starting point is 01:05:11 and my friends want to uh we want to kind of start a brand we're all nurse practitioners we're all christians we're all moms we want to kind of hit that niche nailed it finding you you know yeah like you know the most about all this stuff yeah, but they just wanted a ton of like social media advice. Want to ask a ton of questions. I was like, yeah, it's FaceTime. We hopped on and it was actually really fun. Cool. It was affirming to feel like I know things.
Starting point is 01:05:32 And I think this might've been the first time in my life that I've spoken and people have written things down. Oh, it felt good. Yeah. Like say things and like, oh, hold on. What is that? I was like, oh, that's kind of fun. Say that again.
Starting point is 01:05:42 S E O. Okay. Okay. What kind of fun. Say that again. S-E-O. Okay. Okay. Stimp me there. Do you remember? Give us two or three bullet points of things that you give us some advice. One thing that I had to kind of like re-steer them in is they're like, what do you think like our first video should be?
Starting point is 01:05:59 Like our introduction to who we are. And I was kind of just like, tried to like really politely say like i don't think you need to make a video like introducing yourselves like it's not going to perform well i i don't think it really matters much it's like you still can but i wouldn't put a ton of effort into like how do we want to like launch this thing like how's this first video be so a lot of it i was really encouraging him i was like you guys are in the in the best spot right now because you have no audience you have no expectations you can make anything you want and it doesn't matter i was like, you guys are in the best spot right now because you have no audience. You have no expectations. You can make anything you want, and it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:06:28 I was like, make 10 very different types of videos. I was like, and I don't know, make combined topics. Like do one that's like, let's do four videos that focuses on being a mom and a Christian. See how those perform. Do four videos that focus on being a mom and a nurse practitioner. See how those perform. Do four videos that involve being a nurse practitioner and a Christian. See how those perform. Gather some data that involve being a nurse practitioner and a Christian. See how those perform.
Starting point is 01:06:45 Gather some data there. And then do some random ones. I was like, I can't stress enough how just freeing it is to not have any expectations. You don't have a posting schedule. You can do whatever you want right now.
Starting point is 01:06:54 So don't think about it too much. Right now, you're just getting stuff out there. You're just practicing. You're just getting better. Have fun. Don't stress about the content too much. Write it down.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Write that down. First three to five seconds. Really important. Oh, he's just writing it down. Oh, yeah yeah he's got the pen and paper out wait let's let's let's talk about this pencil real quick timing uh throw throw that can you throw it my way are you able to throw something i don't know you ever play sports you're in a theater when was the last time you saw an eraser like this dude i didn't even know they made them that way anymore that's a great i love those erasers though yeah you're a big ticonderoga guy huh oh all day really only pencil no mechanical oh in the past a few yeah okay yeah i i'm a big mechanical guy myself but
Starting point is 01:07:36 catherine also homeschooled loved the ticonderoga sure that's just the best that That's great. I just have never... Yeah. Do you mind if I expose your previous racer? Oh, boy. Yikes. This guy. Okay. That's why he covered it up. Yeah. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Starting point is 01:07:56 I saw, and he can catch. And he can catch! That's fun. You want to wrap this puppy up a little bit? Let's wrap that bad boy up. Let's do our reviews of the week. Great. Mine is coming from
Starting point is 01:08:12 username SaintsFan129. Okay. Who did the Saints just get? Derek Carr. Big Derek Carr fan. SaintsFan129. Helps me jump out of airplanes. Five-star review. Says, I'm writing this after finally finishing every episode of the Ghost Runners podcast after four months. That's pretty fast to go through them.
Starting point is 01:08:37 I just moved to a new state for the military and I've had a hard time finding Christian community, but the Ghost Runners podcast has helped me find some joy to make it through the tougher days. Brad and Jake's friendship reminds me of so many friends that I've made in the past which reminds me to be thankful for everything god's given me also my job includes jumping out of airplanes and listening to the podcast beforehand helps me calm while i'm waiting to jump thanks for everything y'all do for the community you've built dang someone someone in the military jumping out of airplanes listens to us right beforehand like like not like heavy metal like rap music saints fan 129 it let's let's let's time this up timing this up uh to where you're about to you're about to jump out of the plane the last thing i want you to hear before
Starting point is 01:09:14 you jump out of that plane is this ready have fun on your jump didn't hear it because they already they're yeah yeah he's not hearing any of this anymore. That's amazing. Saints fan, now you press play and you got to jumping. Sounds like it went well. You're still able to listen to a podcast. Good job on that. Five-star review on your plane jump.
Starting point is 01:09:34 Wow. Let us know more. Yeah, that's a ghostly spotlight. Oh, ghostly spotlight live on the podcast. Oh, yeah. Ghostmars.com backslash interact. Yeah. Go ahead and feel free to nominate yourself if you're that cool.

Starting point is 01:09:55 Okay, my review of the week comes from Lydia Jane 41. And it is five stars. Oh, heck yeah. Good. A podcast where comparing apples to oranges is wrong, but somehow comparing cows to horses is right. Brad and Jake are vibrant hosts who provide plenty of chuckles and laugh-out-loud moments
Starting point is 01:10:12 to any mundane daily life slog. Slog? You having just a little slog and doz of a day? Listen to the podcast. My noggin is slogging. Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. I actually look forward to being woke up at 2 a.m. to feed my baby. I've been listening to old episodes along with current for months now, and y'all never get old.
Starting point is 01:10:31 I love seeing how the podcasting community have grown over the years. I wish you guys the best in all future endeavors. Thank you, Lydia Jane. It also reminds me of a comment that Patrick Drommen left on an episode recently. He was just like, this is such a fun time to be a Ghostrunners listener. He's like, this is a cool era of Ghostrunners. I'm paraphrasing, but he's like, I hope you guys all appreciate this or something like that. I was like, dude, thanks. That's really cool.
Starting point is 01:10:53 Yeah, he's so kind. He's so encouraging. Shout out to Patrick. See him in Florida. Can't wait to see him in Florida, brother. Let's do this thing. I think he's coming to some of the shows. Is he Northwest? Is that right? Yeah. Washington. Cool. Pacific Northwest. Yes. Pacific, Northwest. Brad, would you like to end this episode with a jingle? I would. Our friend
Starting point is 01:11:10 Ross Ferns wrote a good one. This one's an emotional one because it's just an emotional sounding song. It's just sweet. So I'll just leave it at that. Did you want to play it? Yeah. Give me your thumb to play it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:25 You hit your thumb up. Hit the music. Play it. Did Tymon want to play it? I'm already sad. Don't even know where to start. That's a good song. He's known as the Ghostrunner's
Starting point is 01:11:48 laugh track. Even though he has a performance couch. I still remind him it's my podcast. Now he's talking. Here we go gun and east coast sunsets for example south padre island now he may laugh right in your face when he is winning pickleball. While his s'mores are a train wreck. The truth is there's no one like Scott Peck.
