This past Sunday night, I'm at the Dan and Shay concert.
Ben Rector, you know, Shay Mooney, he's a friend of Correct Opinions.
What are you looking at me like that for?
Ben Rector's fire.
He is, yeah, he's great.
That's crazy.
So we got to go.
Yo!
You know Ben Rector?
Fire.
Oh, man.
Extraordinary magic makes you cry.
Great song. Yeah, Mild Extraordinary magic makes you cry. Great song.
Yeah, Mild Heroes, Can't Make Old Friends.
Yeah, you're a jerk.
Anyway, at the concert, and Shea Mooney hooks us up with tickets.
Well, Rachel and I are in the seats.
Trey and Katie get courtside floor tickets.
I mean, their chest is to the stage.
So they're like, I mean, Shea is performing personally for Trey, so he's
very close. There's a part of the show
where they bring up this
13-year-old kid, and he's performing with them.
He's done. They're
needing to stall. I don't think they normally do this.
Shay is up there like, I'm just trying to stall.
I'm trying to think of a good dad joke.
What do you have to say, sir? He puts the
microphone in Trey's face.
Trey goes,
Go Chiefs!
What a dweeb.
And the crowd was just like,
yeah!
And it was,
I mean, it's kind of a lose-lose situation.
Just like, tell me a dad joke right now.
But I don't know what else you say
when a Grammy Award winning artist is like,
what do you want to say?
Go Chiefs is honestly a genius answer.
No one,
no one's going to not cheer for that,
you know?
Yeah.
It's so they did.
It was,
it was great,
but we love giving him a hard time afterwards.
Like go chiefs.
Like he wasn't expecting it.
Like a frog in a store.
No,
geez.
It's like,
is that Pedro Mahone?
Go cheese.
We got DJ Mike L on the pod today.
It's going to be a good one.
Tune in. Because it's the Ghost Brothers Podcast. For the first time ever on Ghost Brothers Podcast,
we have a Puerto Rican.
Yeah.
We're excited.
Diversity higher.
Diversity higher.
The big podcast, the company who controls the podcast,
they said we needed one.
So I said, I know just the guy.
No, DJ Mikel, you guys have heard so many stories
over the last year of touring together,
and he's in town.
What are you in town for?
What are you doing tonight here?
I got a show with KB tonight, Mr. Kevin Burgess.
Oh, covenant eyes.
KB.
What you at? What you looking at? Yeah, facts. It's going to be a fun one, though, Mr. Kevin Burgess. Oh, covenant eyes. KB. What you at?
What you looking at?
Yeah, facts.
It's going to be a fun one, though, man.
I think it's our sixth day.
It's not like ours.
We're like, it's like maybe one or two days off,
and then it's like shows, shows.
After we go back to Atlanta, which is next week,
after that, it's straight through and one day off.
So it's like 10 shows, one day off.
Dang.
That's way more exhausting doing it that way.
There's no routine sleeping on a bus two weeks straight.
100%.
My back has been hurting since the first day we started.
Because you remember, I got off of our last run
before you guys recorded, moved out of my house,
my old apartment, into my new apartment,
spent maybe a day and a half in my new apartment,
and immediately flew to rehearsals.
And I've been on tour ever since.
I have not been back home.
So what does it look like?
Okay, let's back up.
Back it up, brother.
You're a DJ.
You rap yourself?
No, I don't rap.
I don't rap.
I just do like, I'm a producer and stuff.
Okay, okay.
Jake thought you rapped.
You rap?
You have music of you rapping.
No, I don't rap.
I have music with me on it.
I'm like, think of it like the Rick Rubin of Christian hip hop,
or like the DJ Khaled of Christian hip hop.
Think about it like that.
It's the same thing.
That's exactly what I do.
But you're on more tracks than DJ Khaled is.
Yes, 100%.
But your voice is out there somewhere.
Yes.
Way more than it needs to be, but yes.
Okay.
Okay, so what do you do for kb on this tour yeah like what does
it look like because i know with trey stuff you're you're djing before the show is that what you're
doing for kb as well so no so um i'm on so kb i'm not djing specifically for kb i'm djing for my
boy no big deal who is also in indie tribe which is the group that we're in so gunnar loves no big
bro we're yeah we're here tonight.
So I DJ for No Big Deal, but this is, I think,
because I think Jake and his wife are coming tonight,
but this is the first time that they'll see me in this element.
Because Jake and Isaac came to see me for Dude Perfect,
and that's different than what I do for Trey.
Yeah, Dude Perfect, Mikel's kind of running the show.
He's kind of like the emcee.
Right.
He does a lot more.
Introducing the next.
Yeah.
Way more than Trey.
Because Trey, I DJ for 30 minutes before people walk in and as they're walking in.
And I introduce the comics and that's it.
Okay.
Like, with Dude Perfect, I run the whole show.
And by running, I don't mean like it's, I'm the reason.
Like, no, I'm just saying like I play the music i announce the things yeah you keep it rolling yeah i'm i'm
i never leave basically i'm always on stage and now with this is i'm just performing with my bro
right so they've never seen me in that capacity of like ad-libbing yeah and like you know djing
for real so i'm excited to like show them that element of like what i do because that's like
what i mainly do that's what you get most excited about doing?
Yeah.
I love it.
I love it.
Because it's a situation where I can fully be myself.
Yeah.
Like going crazy.
Yeah.
We talked about that backstage
and we were at last week, Topeka or something.
I was like, dude, the way you fire me up,
I want to go perform music.
I want to jump around.
You just get me so excited,
and I just stand there for 30 minutes.
It's so lame.
Jake is a WWE wrestler.
I mean, I treat it like that.
Whenever I announce, like, you and Lucas or whoever.
Oh, it gets me so fired up.
I'm like, I'm going to make them feel like they're about to walk down a ramp with a championship.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The last, like, few weeks, Mike Hell's been mixing up my intro.
You know, because I always told you, like, dude, play whatever, say whatever.
I don't care.
But recently, Mike Hell's been doing, he's my know because I always told you he's like dude play whatever say whatever I don't care but recently Mike L's been doing he's uh he's my favorite
comedian he's your mother's favorite comedian he's been tossing it in there my favorite comedian
and your mom's favorite or sometimes I'll switch up and say like yo like it's your sister's favorite
comedian if I want to get disrespectful but I'm right so that's always fun but yeah I'm excited
to see you like jumping around and everything tonight
it should be fun man
it'll be fun
we missed you last weekend
on tour for the special
because first of all
we flew first class
oh wow
yeah
the Craver flight
first class
okay
no
I mean I get upgraded
to first class
I don't get bought
first class
yeah for sure
it was like an hour long flight
it was like the same price
so it wasn't anything crazy
but yeah and also Trey and Alan had hour long flight. It was like the same price, so it wasn't anything crazy.
Also, Trey and Alan had a Southwest flight, so it was me,
Isaac,
Lucas, and then DJ Travis.
First class boys?
Pinkies up.
Legs crossed. Pinkies up.
They got champagne before the flight.
Literally.
You refer to him as DJ Travis. We call him DJ Mike. If you're a doctor, you're like, hey the flight. Literally. So you refer to him as DJ Travis.
We call him DJ Mike.
Is it like if you're a doctor, you're like, hey, Dr. Anderson.
If you're a DJ, it's like, yo, DJ Mike.
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah, you just you've earned the initials.
So I think they address me as Mike.
When they talk about me to other people, it's the preface of DJ Mike.
All right.
Well, I love I love hearing like origin stories.
And you can do it however you want to do it.
You can go back to the beginning of where you're born or your upbringing or whatever.
Or just talk about like how you got your start even.
Yeah.
Or your connections to all these guys.
It sounds like you have been connected with some of the biggest Christian names in the industry.
Which is wild, bro.
Like the more, like when I go back, I'm going to go all the way back.
But when I go back and I think about it, it really is God, because it doesn't make any sense.
Legit.
Once I explain it to you, you'll be like, wow, that actually, because, so I'm born and
raised in New York City.
I went to high school in Jersey.
When I graduated high school, I moved back to New York City, and I didn't go to college.
I had a scholarship to go to Liberty to play football, and my grandmother passed away.
She raised me.
So it was like my mom passed away, basically. Yeah, right. And I was like, I'm good. I don't want to play football. Okay. And my grandmother passed away. She raised me. Okay. So it was like my mom passed away, basically.
Yeah, right.
And I was like, I'm good.
I don't want to play football no more.
I'm the – like, it's just –
Were you like just –
I'm good.
Yeah.
I just don't want to do it.
Did you want to do anything at that point?
No.
I wanted to die at that point.
Really?
It hit me that hard.
Depressing.
Yeah.
But, like, I ended up going to ministry school at a church, which was dope.
And while I was there, the school that I was doing ministry at
or learning how to be, because I was going to be a youth pastor, low key.
Okay.
And the church that did this program that had that school underneath was a studio.
And it was like a, it's not there no more, but it was called Y'all Rockin' Studios.
It was a pinnacle Christian hip hop mecca of recording.
And are you familiar with Andy Minio?
Do you know who Andy Minio is?
So Andy Minio recorded Neverland, the first one, in that studio.
Wow.
A lot of people would pass through, and I would intern, and there'd be a fly on the
wall for a lot of things.
Yeah.
And I would meet a lot of these artists, like Andy, Lecrae, all these people.
And it would just be micro moments of meeting them and talking to them to them yeah and a majority of them lived in atlanta okay so they
and i was like oh well uh i don't live there but like man like like let me get your number like
let's just stay connected and i would just stay connected with people very genuinely just hey
check in are you good whatever then my parents moved to atlanta a year before i did and i was
like nah i'm good. But everything in
me, like I felt like God was tugging me to go there and I was doing everything opposite to go.
Cause I'm like, cause when I, at the time I'm, I'm a, I'm a New Yorker. So I think Atlanta's
country is heck. Like, you know what I'm saying? Don't tread on me flags. Yeah. Like I'm like,
I don't want to go. But then I really felt God tugging my heart. Like,, like I think if you go, what's going to happen is going to blow your mind.
I'm like, nah, I'm good.
So I kind of wrestled with God a little bit.
And then I had a situation that forced me to move with my parents down in Atlanta and hated it.
But when I finally moved down there, all those connections that I made in that studio, I started hitting them up.
Like, hey, I'm out here now.
I'd love to just kick it with you.
And then just started getting like, hey, like'm out here now. I'd love to just kick it with you. And then just started getting, like, guys are like, hey, you DJ, right?
You want to come?
And then that turned into me doing it so much
for this one artist named R-Swift
that other people that trusted him were like,
yo, I need a DJ.
He's like, yo, try this person.
And then I knock out the park with that person.
And then it just built up to where I'm at now, literally.
Just get a network of guys.
No, yeah, legit.
Well, it's just being consistent, being genuine, then also like delivering each time right you know what i'm
saying yeah doing a good job yeah like you're doing yeah doing like doing going above and beyond
and i think the most thing is like just being a good hang and being genuine i think those things
are right in in unfathomable bro well i can i think for sure like ever since jake's met you he's
had like not just like hopefully good things not just like decent things to say but just like this guy is so fun this guy is like he just makes the
the vibe so much more fun everywhere he goes like i mean i think everyone on the podcast knows like
the saying the dj michael saying is no that's crazy that's crazy and so when you're when jake
just goes uh you know we were at the Ben Rector country,
you're like, Ben Rector?
Bro.
You were like blown away.
Right away.
It was like watching Arnold Palmer
put the lemonade and the tea together.
He's doing it.
He's doing the thing.
Bro.
It just comes so naturally.
Oh, I know.
That's what we love about it man so
yeah i don't know why i'm so extroverted i wish i knew i wish i knew there's like this meme that
i see it's like uh i forget what the picture is but like the meme is like uh after a long day of
being the funny friend and it's like somebody's like just i've been carrying it I gotta make the comedians laugh all night
I'm exhausted dude
I go on my bunk and I sob every night
it's just so hard
oh my god
it was great when I saw John Chris
most recently and we were exchanging like Mike Hell stories
oh man
John told us a story that
John I think came off stage
they used it toman or something crazy.
John just got done crushing.
And everyone just commenting, John, that was amazing.
That was great.
And Mike Hill's like, hey, good set, dude.
Where do you feel like you lost him?
Shout out to Aaron Webber, bro.
Aaron Webber was the first one that did that.
So, like, I think he did it to Dustin Nickerson.
Oh, really?
And it got such a pop, bro.
I was like, I'm never going to not say that to comedians. Because it got such a pop bro I was like I'm never gonna not say that
to comedians
cause it's like
cause it's like
whenever somebody's
feeling like that
like you just wanna
humble them a little bit
but also like
just give them a jab
you know what I'm saying
so it was like
very much like
he was like on a high bro
it was like
sold out
cross-stating ovation
comes off
he's shaking
you know what I'm saying
he's shaking everybody's hand
man good job
I'm like hey bro
like
what do you think you awesome
why am I hanging in the middle let's be real let's analyze this real quick but then like whenever I say it they immediately what I'm saying? She's shaking everybody's hand. Man, good job. I'm like, hey, bro. What do you think you're awesome? Why am I hanging there in the middle?
Let's be real.
Let's analyze this real quick.
But then whenever I say it, they immediately know I'm joking.
Nobody takes it serious.
Dude, that's great.
Yeah.
I do it to Trey a lot, too.
It's so funny.
You know how they have those apps where you can be like, this picture and this picture.
This will show you what the kid's going to look like.
I feel like if you took Aaron Webber and DJ Khaled.
Yeah.
No, that's solid.
DJ Mikel right in the middle.
That's actually solid
i'll accept that bro shout out to weber he's about to have a baby we're not about to but
he just announced that he's crazy man baby weber yeah 24 25 something like that so yeah you've done
comedy you've done like what what's it like being on the road with the comedian guys versus
music like are there some similarities to their personalities?
So this is going to sound like,
I hope this doesn't come off weird,
but it's like,
so when I go on tour
with the rappers and my friends,
it's like we all grew up the same.
We use the same language.
You know what I'm saying?
It's like, oh, we're good.
This is a safe space.
Not that those spaces aren't.
But then when I go on tour
with John and Trey and all them, it's like we all come from different backgrounds and it's like
when you go to high school and there's like that like hood kid that's just cool with everybody
that's what i feel like it's like it's like yo like i don't like i didn't experience like i
didn't grow up like you but man i love you like you know i'm saying like so but it's just dope
to be around different personalities and um i think that's what I tell you consistently.
I love hanging out with you so much
because I don't have friends like you back home.
I don't have friends that talk like you.
That aren't white.
Yeah.
They don't look like that.
They put on more sunscreen than you.
Lack of melanin.
I get it.
Yeah, I'm always fascinated by, yeah,
just like the way you
just even interact with people or blackjack dealers or uber drivers you know it's just uh
i told the story on the podcast when it happened and we got a few questions about this um when uh
when i said you're coming on the podcast but people wanted to know uh uh they want to know
more about how to properly de-escalate a situation because i remember i told
him the story about uh why you mad me oh yeah this way if you remember we were on our way to
pedophilia in philadelphia and this guy he yells at trey for breaking the seat he yells at me for
breaking but like legit like yelling like about to cancel the ride like he's pissed yeah for whatever
reason right and then i get in the car.
So my thing is, one thing you, I think Jake has learned about me,
but one thing I can say about myself is I'm a very loyal person.
I'm very protective of people that I love and all my friends.
And I'm very much like, think of me like the Draymond Green or the Dennis Rodman, every friend group that I'm in, quite literally.
Or the Ray Lewis.
I'm very much like that guy.
Oh, Ray Lewis.
I mean, yeah, he killed somebody.
I mean, Draymond gets technical fouls.
I am like that.
I definitely wouldn't kill anybody.
I'm the OJ Simpson of any friend group.
RIP, bro.
You just passed away.
Yeah, like an hour ago.
Yeah, literally, man.
Colon cancer.
Sheesh.
Not the colon. Sheesh. Dang, come on. Oh, literally, man. Colon cancer, sheesh. Not the colon, sheesh.
Dang, come on.
Oh, get a check.
If you're over 40, get your colon checked.
I don't know why colon cancer, sheesh, got me.
Colon cancer, sheesh.
Dang, man.
RAP to a great.
You're saying?
He didn't do it, man.
No, okay, so we were in in philly and it was pouring rain and train them ordered you know and you know i'm saying like trey trey and jake are the same but
also different personalities like jake is more reserved and he's like all right i'll take it to
the chin is what it is yeah trey will do that to a certain extent and then but then trey will get
an attitude but like in the wrong way like it'll be like bro there's a more tactful way to do this you know
jake is like i feel like if jake was on a debate team in high school yeah like he would be like
let me tell you all the logical things like you're telling me that this this and this are an issue
and really look at the seat the seat is upright this is no legit you know and um so they're getting in
the car and they're trying to fit because you know how you got to pull that handle and the seat
yeah yeah flings forward and folds down and you got to get back so we're trying to do that whole
thing and i guess that's not how you do it and it's broken and the and the the uh uber driver is
like no you break my car what are you doing like he's getting very upset yeah yeah and then he's
just like and trace like hey man like what do you what are you like you tell me he's like oh like he's just getting so mad and i'm just
like i'm already slightly annoyed because i'm in philly i'm just like all right bro so like
so they finally get in like and he's like yelling at them as i'm getting into the car and i was like
yo my man i'm like i need you to tone yourself down and talk to me like i'm an adult he's like
no no i'm like see i'm not gonna talk to you until and talk to me like I'm an adult. He's like, no, no, no.
I'm like, see, I'm not going to talk to you until you speak to me like I need to be spoken to.
And he was like, no, my friend.
I'm like, if it's not an apology or an explanation, I don't want to hear it.
And he was like, no, my friend.
And I'm like, bro, I don't want to hear it.
And he finally calmed down.
He's like, why are you mad at me?
I'm like, I'm not mad at you, bro.
I'm like, you're an adult.
I'm an adult.
I'm not your kid.
I'm not a kid.
My parents don't talk to me like that.
You don't talk to me like that.
If you got something to say, say it in a way better tone.
He was like, okay, my friend, I'm sorry.
And then it was a masterclass.
It was like, and then it was a masterclass in de-escalation and how to like,
be aggressive, but not be aggressive.
Yeah.
Like stand up for yourself without having to yell raise my voice and be a jerk i'm
like no bro i'm gonna you know i'm saying but then hours later hours later i completely did
not do my own thing bro the class was was out of session class yeah school was out i was i i took
my tie off and everything i was in my street clothes already good yeah bro and then hours
later i got into like almost a physical altercation yeah the other uber driver but alan was holding you back
which is crazy like alan was legit like yo michael chill and i knew in that moment i was like all
right i'm tripping if alan if alan's holding you back it's like what's what's like the analogy of
alan trying to hold is steph curry holding drayaymond. I was like, dang, bro.
If Alan's my voice of reason right now, I'm definitely in the wrong.
I am for sure in the wrong.
Yeah, good day.
Good times in Philly.
That was fun.
Didn't they boo you because you just said the word Dallas?
Yeah, I said I flew to Dallas a couple months ago.
And they were like, yo, the crowd erupted in a loud boo.
F Dallas.
I'm like, you can't just visit a city? Yeah, I can't go to the airport. And threw Jake like, yo, the crowd erupted in a loud boo. That's what you said. F Dallas. I'm like, you can't just visit a city?
Yeah, I can't go to the airport.
It threw Jake off, too.
He was like, all right, well, I'm just going to change the city since you guys don't know how to act.
I flew to—
Honolulu.
Yeah, I flew to Hawaii.
Dude, speaking of getting thrown off, so I haven't told the podcast about the special or anything yet.
I wanted to talk about it when you were here.
So, you know, this is a massive production. I mean, there's cable
cams. It looks like, I texted a picture
to Brad. He said they got the Monday Night Football crew
out there. They have Video
Village. So, I mean, there's all these monitors.
Everybody's on headsets. People are running around.
Booth reviews getting done.
Gene Steratore is in New York. He's looking at it.
Dude, that's like my dream to just like be
in that like, just have a headset on.
Yeah, that'd be awesome. It was really impressive, it's it's a stressful environment but i'm up there
lucas then me and i am 30 seconds away from getting off stage it's a great set i'm really
happy with it i'm doing my my joke about rachel's ringside you know my closing joke and i'm seriously
30 seconds away i'm about to close it and then a guy from the crew just walks on stage.
And I see him, and he keeps walking, and he keeps walking.
And then he kneels in front of me and just pulls out like a thing of tape
and just starts taping something down.
And we're all just staring at him.
Quietly?
I would imagine quietly.
Please let it be quietly.
Yeah, well, it was quiet for a little bit because it's like,
this isn't happening.
It's like an outer body experience.
Yeah, I saw it was quiet for a little bit because it's like, this isn't happening. It's like an outer body experience. Yeah, I saw myself by POV.
And I don't remember exactly what I said because it was truly such a like, this can't be happening.
I remember saying, all righty.
And then I remember saying, because I was doing jokes about my dad and everything.
I was like, this is my idiot dad.
So I might keep that in the special.
I might just keep that in because that's pretty funny.
But it was like, you couldn't.
He was like, yeah, there was a wire.
I talked to Matt for it.
There was a wire.
It was like in the shot.
I was like, well, there's about to be a very natural gap.
Trey's about to come on.
Just do it then.
Yeah, there's going to be a man in the shot now.
Yeah, and I know Trey's going to pay for it.
It's his special.
Right.
But I was like, you really should not interrupt the comedian probably during the closing joke.
That's super whack, bro.
He's like, what goes through your mind at that point?
You're like, yo, you're like, well, you have like a 25, 20-minute set, 30-minute set.
Yeah, yeah.
And it's like, yo, 27 minutes in.
You're like, yo, you know what?
That wire's killing me, man.
I gotta, I gotta, you know what?
Let me, I gotta do it.
Sorry, man.
Yeah, that's a great point because it's like
the other 27 minutes
the wire's going to be there.
And Lucas has already...
I mean, they had a long time
to see this wire.
I'm saying.
Yeah.
It's a big stage.
They all conspired against you.
Yeah.
He's going to bring the house down
with this one.
Let's humble him.
He's going to outshine Trey.
We got to interrupt him.
So where do you think we lost him?
Probably with the wire.
On this one, you know?
Thanks, Dad.
What if we had done a joke like, wow, guys, my dad finally showed up to one of my shows wow probably get some support
he won't even look at me oh my gosh but all things considered not the biggest deal going on that
night so man so you know it's like that's kind of me a bummer but look i'm not i didn't pay for it
this night is not about me i'm personally bummed but I don't, yeah, it's really okay.
We got tomorrow night.
We'll be fine.
So we're gearing up.
This is, it's stressful, but Trey's about to go out there.
And, you know, we're like, hey, Travis, get them on their feet.
Like, we need to get them so hyped.
Let them know we're taping the special.
Where is this going?
He's doing quite the intro.
Like, filming his second comedy special, Salt Lake City.
Get on your feet.
You know, whatever. Going crazy. Trey Kennedy. intro like film it a second comedy special salt lake city get on your feet you know whatever
going crazy trey kennedy he comes out there and they're they're going nuts the biggest intro ever
trey's mic doesn't work oh wow i know he was pissed oh yeah you can imagine i know he was
pissed bro it doesn't work because when that happens on like regular show days he's like what happened yeah i'm just like i like whatever that happens with like our like our regular show
days he looks at me and i'm like i am not the sound guy i don't control your mic like
you made the music that's sound yeah yeah you're that's i know he was pissed like like what did
he do he just stormed back and was like again stormed back and was very
um reasonably upset i would say especially my special i'm paying yeah how much money he paid
time is mike doesn't work and so now they got to redo all this and so he's very upset and the
crowd too you know the crowd it's like weird it's like yeah you're not gonna give him let's do it again guys it's like alright I'm doing squats now I can't hear you
I said
do it again
it's like WWE
what
yeah
what
so he gets a new mic
you know of course
you can imagine the scramble
Tom is freaking
outside stage
what mic does work
why doesn't that work
we get him a new mic
we got a re-intro
the wire though
out of the shot
hey wire
good
yeah
maybe that was
maybe
maybe
what was that wire
you can imagine
Lucas as like
the purest comedian
he's like
I mean I can't
I should have had
a wired mic
you know that's how
the old school guys
the old school guys
do the wired mics
he's like
I just had a wired mic
should have had a wired mic
probably
oh my gosh.
So he goes back out there.
The second mic works.
It's great.
He starts a set.
So Trey had asked Lucas and I beforehand,
hey, would you guys mind watching my whole set and take notes?
If I didn't get anything like word perfect or if I stumbled over anything,
we just jot it down to make sure we get it either that night or on the second night.
I know Lucas would do it because Lucas is very like attention to detail.
Yeah, yeah.
So we sit down there.
You don't think Jake would do it?
Yeah.
No, no, no.
Oh, go ahead.
Oh, that was a good job for Lucas.
Well, you know, Lucas has the presentation of someone that would be very astute with
notes.
You know what I'm saying?
You want to know who took the notes?
Jake took the notes.
Jake took the notes.
That guy.
So we're sitting there.
We're paying so much attention.
Well, right away, it's a very stressful environment.
There's people.
I don't know what they're doing, but people are just running.
People are running backstage.
A lot of running going on.
People on headsets yelling at each other.
And they're all like, they're asking me and Katie.
Katie flies in.
They're like, hey, come look at this.
How much does he normally sweat?
I'm like, how much Trey normally? I don't this how much does he normally sweat like how much
tray normally i don't know how much tray normally sweats cut cut cut cut cut too sweaty cut get the
wire towel it's so then they're like i think we need to go in i mean for continuity we need to go
in and tell them off how do you think we should do that and they're asking me and katie like i don't
i don't know how what the towel protocol is like how much money are they paying you you don't have
a pro like you told me earlier you're're filming bill Burr special next week.
Like,
I think you should just have Katie and I should not be making the
decisions right now.
And they're like,
how,
how should we tell them off?
And if we do like,
should we leave the towel out there?
Or do we bring the towel back?
And like,
we're having to make all these decisions all of a sudden.
And Luke has made the joke to me privately,
but he goes,
uh,
how much is normally sweat?
Well,
I don't know.
He's normally not furious.
So that's probably why he's normally not furious. Great.
So that's probably why
he's sweating so much.
We're having to make
all these decisions
about what do we do with the towel.
Who brings the towel here?
When do we bring out the towel?
While the projector screen comes down?
Maybe Alan brings the towel.
All this stuff.
Alan bringing the towel
would make a lot of sense.
Yeah.
Well, they had a makeup girl.
They ended up deciding
what the makeup girl brings the towel.
And everyone's like,
well, should we redo his makeup?
I don't think we should
stop to do makeup.
This is a lot.
I'm already stressed. And I'm like, I don't think I should stop to do makeup. This is a lot. I'm already stressed.
And I'm like,
I don't think I should,
I mean,
granted,
Kate and I know Trey the best.
So a part of me is like,
maybe we should make all the decisions,
but also like,
no,
I don't think we should make any decisions.
Y'all are literally getting paid
to make these decisions.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And like,
you don't want to be the one responsible
if he's like,
why'd you bring that guy out?
It was definitely that guy.
Yeah.
So it's so stressful. At one point, I kid you bring that guy out? It was definitely that guy. Yeah.
So it's so stressful.
At one point, I kid you not,
multiple people start setting up ladders backstage.
It's so loud.
I don't know what we're setting up ladders for.
I'm like trying to get an answer.
Do we need these ladders to be set up?
The Hardy Boys are back there. Anybody for a ladder match?
It's just like...
Why don't they set up the ladders beforehand?
I don't know what they were for.
Nothing was wrong with the ladders.
What if, just hear me out here.
What if they were just doing stuff like that? Like, when your boss comes around you got to act like you do yeah
yeah yeah we're doing that just to act we told trade we need 20 people for this
we need six at most six ladder boys it was kind of like that whatever else is
running around it was like so I'll go set up that ladder look busy yeah I'll
fix that wire on stage oh I like it up with the first song of the night,
White People Wedding,
comes off stage and goes,
hey, my in-ears,
I got nothing in my in-ears.
The metronome's not working.
I have no monitors.
Now we got to fix that.
So now it becomes a new situation.
How do we interrupt the show for a third time
to fix Alan's in-ear monitors?
So then we got to figure that out.
Should we call Trey off stage?
Travis, should you go back on?
Should you play music? I don't know. I'm not even there and I'm pissed. Yeah, it Should we call Trey offstage? Should we, Travis, should you go back on? Should you play music?
I don't know.
I'm not even there and I'm pissed.
Yeah, it was like, Trey's up there performing.
Everyone's laughing.
But backstage, we're all so stressed, dude.
And I know Trey was probably still furious.
So we're having to make those decisions.
And so in the end, the show is over.
We're out hanging out afterwards.
And Trey gets like dozens of DMs from people being like,
hey, I sat in the back tonight.
Couldn't hear a thing.
And Trey's like, oh my gosh.
People can't hear?
Yeah, I'd be pissed because then now I look at it as a business decision.
He's coming out of pocket as an investment to film his own thing.
And it's like, I'm paying you all this money and y'all can't get just simple stuff.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it was insane how much went wrong that first night and how stressful it was.
Okay, so as far as your experience
and then just in general,
how much of that is, do you think,
because of the film crew
and how much of that is the venue?
It's definitely the film crew.
Really?
100%, not the venue's fault.
Whoever is running the sound and video is their fault.
That should be something that is done.
But I think whenever people are running around
like headless chickens,
they overlook things.
Things that happen like that, I couldn't hear you in the back,
those things get left up to assumption.
Oh, I thought somebody – and it's like, bro,
when that kind of money is being put on the table,
you can't leave things to assumption.
You got to double check, triple check, make sure everything is good.
Apparently the people not hearing in the back is the production crew didn't want Trey's levels too loud so they could capture good audio.
But now people just can't hear it.
Yeah, so Trey was like, well, I would like the people at the show to get their money's worth.
And they would laugh probably harder if they knew the jokes.
It's probably a good thing.
And they're filming Bill Burr's special?
Yeah, this is like a very legit production.
Good luck.
I talked to one of the executive producers.
I was like, tell me about your job or whatever.
I was like, what's kind of your role?
And he said, I specifically handle Netflix acquisitions,
which also is interesting to me.
I was like, this sounds like the business side.
I'm surprised you're here.
Yeah.
If you deal with it.
Anyway, big shout out to Trey, though.
It was true.
The most impressive thing was how he handled
not only that night, but the next night.
Like, truly, like, I would be very surprised if other comedians are capable of doing what he was doing. most impressive thing was how he handled not only that night but the next night like truly like i
would be very surprised if other comedians are capable of doing what he was doing as far as like
having the wherewithal to just be like hey i kind of screwed up that i'm gonna do it again or like
just like directing the crowd or like directing like you know what let's keep the projector screen
up this song or whatever just like not being too frazzled or yeah like directing the choir with the
choir come out the second show it was like this guy who's been on camera for 10 years. This is a guy who's like directing his old videos that he's been the talent.
And it was really cool to see.
It was very impressive.
How are you like,
like the visual representation is that is like,
they're down a touchdown and it's like 30 seconds left.
Yeah.
It's just like,
yeah,
we're good.
We're good.
No problem.
Right.
Yeah.
He's,
he's calling the audibles.
He's a pro pro man i
mean i can understand that frustration because that's that's got to be trash bro like paying
all that money and then and then people that are paying money to go see you they're like yo we
didn't even really enjoy it yeah we couldn't right and it's like what's more important the
production or the fans and then you got to balance that and then it's like also the production
company as as good as their heart is they don't
care about your fans the way you do right right they just care about making sure that they get
done what they got to get done right and maybe not even enough because they didn't hear in the
back so dang yeah that's wild so second night was all right though second night was so much less
stressful good it was great no people still no ladders no ladders no sprinting yeah it just like
the mics worked.
Everything went off without a hitch.
I feel like I could see Tom's face
and my burn singed in my mind of that first day.
Tom was really like hurt,
like really felt like he had let Trey down.
It felt really bad that first night.
It was cool how much he cares.
Well, he does care
because I remember we were talking,
like we were at the bar the other night,
like the last run.
And he was like, man,
these people like that are doing the production,
they're asking me questions now that should have been asked months ago.
Tom saw this coming.
He knew.
He was like, bro, they're going to F it up, and I don't want that for Trey.
He loves him.
I don't want that to happen.
But they think they know everything.
So at what point do you have to prevent a plane crash?
Just let the plane crash happen.
Not for trade, but for the production people.
It's like, yo, you know what?
You think you know everything?
Guess what?
You do.
Let's see what happens.
Let's see what happens.
Yeah, they're not paying him to do the production aspect.
Exactly.

We got some questions from the ghosties when I said you're going to be on the podcast.
Nathaniel said,
what's your best or favorite memory
with Isaac on the road?
Oh, man.
Okay, so Isaac,
Trey, Isaac, and Jake,
they are my blackjack coaches.
My favorite memory was actually a recent one.
It's just so funny.
The first thing that comes to my mind
is we were playing Blackjack in...
Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Omaha, basically.
Yeah, Omaha, Council Bluffs area.
And Isaac and Derek were, like, they were tag teaming the table.
It was like $25 tables, minimum.
So they kind of went in 50-50 equity split.
And they were playing, and they lost everything.
I've never really witnessed Isaac winning.
I know he has, never really witnessed Isaac winning. Bro, so-
I know he has, but-
It's funny.
Every time I play blackjack,
I'm always winning,
but it's because of the guys.
So first time in Lanc City,
I turned 300 into 1,500.
Dang.
And then second time-
It's his first time
playing blackjack.
Ever.
Dude, beginner's luck is real.
This doesn't normally happen,
so be careful.
Yeah, he's like,
this is easy.
Yeah, so then the second time
I play is with them.
And again,
and I'm down 200 and I turn my 200 into like 800, I think easy. Yeah. So then the second time I play is with them again. And I'm down 200.
I turn my 200 into like 800 thing or 600.
It was magical.
It was great.
It was patience.
But then Isaac folded.
He's like, I'm out.
I'm good.
And then it kind of felt like a mafia moment.
I was like, I had like a couple.
I had a big stack of chips.
It's tough.
It's tough when you're like.
I had a big stack of chips.
And then I was like, Isaac, man, play a game. He was like, no, I stack of chips and I was like Isaac man play a game
he was like nah I can't
I'm like Isaac please
hey it's on the family
he played in
first hand
I'm sorry bro
he sat down
he was like
oh man that was actually one of my favorite moments bro he's so
funny uh joseph asked who's the most famous person in your phone oh uh that's a tough one
i have a color tony can you top that tyler oh yeah rodney jerkins you know right jerkins is
no rodney jerkins is a producer who produced Beyonce, Michael Jackson,
3LW,
freaking every major hit
that has been produced
in 2000s,
Usher.
So the music industry,
he's a very,
very famous guy.
he's like,
yes.
Wow.
People that are famous
fangirl over him,
which is nuts.
But Tyler Toney,
yeah,
I mean,
all those guys,
yeah.
Sorry, I didn't know Rodney. You know Rodney? I didn't know him. If I show you nuts. What Tyler Tony? I mean all those guys. Yeah, sorry to know Rodney
If I show you the songs he produced you'd be like no way like yeah, yeah, yeah crazy Beyonce now
He's doing country Beyonce. Nah, he did. What do you do recently? He did Tori Kelly's new album. Oh great
He did a lot of Justin Bieber stuff. He's going kind of he's been
Have you heard that song by Michael Jackson you rock my My World? You rock my world, you know you did.
Brad's pretending like he knows it.
He made that song at 21 years old.
That's nuts.
That's probably the most
quote-unquote famous person I have on my phone.
Shannon asks, how are Jake
and Lecrae similar or different?
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
Very different.
Very different.
Have you heard Jake rap before?
No.
Have I?
He can talk in syncopated sentences.
How are Jake and Lecrae the same?
Do you believe in Jesus, Jake?
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
I know Jake does.
Thanks.
I would say that they are great hangs. They both great yeah well that's good yeah in different ways but they're both great
hangs yeah yeah how are we different can can you think of anything for one you're not a six foot
six black man that yeah i've heard that out the gate different. You can't play basketball, can you?
We never played before.
We haven't.
He's good.
Let me tell you something.
Pickleball?
Dude, he's athletic.
Jake does almost everything pretty well.
Yeah.
Have you heard him sing?
I haven't.
Dang, bro.
What's up, bro?
That's the one thing Jake's...
Sing me a little diddly, bro.
No, no, that's...
Jake gets humbled with his songs.
Yeah, yeah.
Everything else in life...
It evens
out he could he could do really well not not a good singer you know jason williams though
basketball player yeah white chocolate yeah jake is the kansas city version of jason williams
dang j will yeah when you're uh when you're doing your your dj set for uh let's say a trey
kennedy show yeah if if that's your audience
tony asks like what's the song that gets the crowd the most hype like what's a go-to
for a trey kennedy like facebook um definitely anything taylor swift i think i play i play
anti-hero for the first time last week and i heard woohoo for the first time in a minute
all right i guess sure t swift is the way to go. That's fun.
Let's see.
Zach asked, I think coming from your recent post,
who's more well-known worldwide, Michael Jordan or Michael Jackson?
Okay, indulge me.
This is what I was saying.
I was saying that Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan
had the same popularity at the same time.
Okay.
And I was being argued against that that is not true.
Like at their peak, they were each the same amount of fame.
Yes.
You think?
Bro.
How old are you?
I'm 29.
Okay.
I'm 33.
Okay, Jesus.
Okay.
Doing all right.
Doing all right with it.
One worker, too, dude.
So crazy. okay doing all right doing all right with it woodworker too dude so crazy well i'm just because i i i don't feel like i truly know michael jackson like yeah like people that appreciate him appreciate the heck out of him yeah but michael jordan just feels
i don't know man i mean just growing up it's definitely a hard conversation but it's like
i say that they're equally famous because of Michael Jordan's legacy,
not only on the court, but off the court.
I think that people don't like saying that because aside from Michael Jackson's allegations,
it's like, Michael Jordan was a jerk off the court.
People don't like him.
You know what I'm saying?
Michael was more like a sweetheart in some aspects.
So it's like, oh, nah, Michael's more famous.
And I'm like, whatever you say, man. Yeah, when you've talked about this what other people say michael jackson is more
famous typically like really it's like he clears michael jordan like i'm like there's no way there's
no way he clears yeah maybe he's gonna grow up playing sports yeah i was gonna say who are you
talking to i'm talking to the you know the producers of the world or yeah i'm like the
are you talking about the multi-generational men who change basketball and sneakers are still popular to this day like yeah because you have to add his sneaker legacy
into his overall i think so it's not separate it's not separate i mean the nba was dying before
that's what i'm saying people don't get it i mean bird magic kind of came along right before them
but like mj made it worldwide and made it cool well and michael jackson made it cool but yeah
you don't think michael jordan made it cool first he made it he made the sneakers fire and everything i think
alan iverson made the nba look like crazy like swag like it was just nuts like i think michael
jordan was the first step yeah and alan's iverson was the leap yeah you know what i'm saying because
the headbands the tattoos he was the dress code because of really
Allen Iverson yeah like it was yeah he was the first one to had the sleeve
finger shooting yeah he's on his fingers and go he also was the first one I
remember rapping yeah yeah Colby had a thing to Shaq yeah that's right yeah
yeah I still rap into this day he's should stop, but. Dude, I saw DJ Diesel. Yeah, DJ Diesel.
Do you have opinions on him as a DJ?
Nah, I mean, he's famous, so he gets put on all these stages.
He is a good DJ.
I'm not trying to poop on his actual ability,
but he definitely gets put on a lot of big stages because he's Shaq.
But he does, he can DJ.
He can?
He can DJ.
He's not nothing crazy.
It's not like, yo, he's one of the best DJs.
No, he has the ability to DJ.
Okay.
Because to me, it looked like when I witnessed him, he looked like he just pressed play.
And just every once in a while would mute it and just go.
Like, it was at the University of Kansas, so he'd just mute it and go, Kansas.
That was it.
That sounds pretty accurate.
Jay Hawk.
And it was like, oh.
But since he was so big, it was like, he's so huge like he's pretty big bro he lives in where i live at in atlanta like my section of atlanta he lives oh okay he tried running for
sheriff two years ago didn't win sheriff how would you juggle that how would you juggle that
like he's got a lot going on first First take, like, the general, like.
Tough act.
Or no, Icy Hot.
Yeah, I'm like, well, how would you juggle that and be the sheriff?
You would not be a press sheriff at all.
There's no way.
Interesting.
One of our fans also asked, congratulations on your weight loss.
Do you have any tips?
Oh, yes.
So if you don't know, I lost 50 pounds in three months.
Let's go, dude.
Congrats.
I think the biggest thing is obviously what you eat.
But I think most part is being disciplined and working out and drinking water.
That was like the two things that were game changers for me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I'm still doing it.
On tour, I asked Jake.
I think I got, they seen me for the first time a couple weeks ago.
And I was like, hey, non-negotiable.
Going to the gym every day.
Let's go.
And I'd go to the gym every day.
And then it was so dope because then Trey started coming. He said, I'm going to go with you. I'm like, let, non-negotiable, going to the gym every day. Let's go. And I'd go to the gym every day. And then it was so dope because then Trey started coming.
He said, I'm going to go with you.
I'm like, let's get it, bro.
I'm going with or without you.
So let's go.
So that was pretty dope.
You went this morning, didn't you?
Yeah, I literally went to the gym, got back to the venue, changed, and then drove here.
Let's go, dude.
That's awesome.
Looking for other questions.
What's your favorite part of traveling so much for?
Oh, I think my favorite part
is like going to different cities
and like meeting new people
and just seeing different things
and just the ability to travel
because like, bro,
like there's people
that are older than me
and have done way more than me
in life, so to say,
that have never experienced
half the things
that I've experienced
because they don't leave
their hometown.
They don't leave their city.
So I'm just grateful
that I'm even able to go to a city
and experience it for even just a day.
Yeah, how long have you been traveling, like on tour?
Full time now?
I think almost like seven years, bro.
Six, seven years.
It's been kind of crazy.
Cool.
But I love it though.
There's people that are like Tom, you know,
that are road dogs.
It's life and they hate it, but it's life.
I love it.
I haven't gotten to the point where I hate it yet.
It's because it sounds like the extrovert in you
is going to jump into every situation.
You're not just going to be like, oh, yeah,
I haven't hung out with Jake in a while,
so I guess we're not friends anymore.
Yeah, no, I love it.
And the thing is, too, is a majority of my friends also tour.
Yeah.
So it's like, there's a cool thing that happened
a couple years ago where I was on Dude Perfect and my boys were on a lecrae tour and we had an off day in the same city oh
that's awesome and i was like bro the stars have aligned let's go and we just hung out all day it
was just so good bro it was so good so okay between touring and and creating your own music, like what's, I mean, how is that,
how is the process for going about creating music for you?
Like, look, A, are you doing it in your home?
Are you doing it in the studio?
Are you doing it on the road?
Something like everything, all the above kind of thing?
So it depends on like deadlines,
but I rarely work on the road.
I work at home.
I have a studio in my house, thank God.
And I work, I'm like an inspiration dude like like there's discipline guys that are like i'm going to the studio from right 12 p.m to 4 p.m and whatever gets done gets done
and like they like they run shifts at the studio basically yeah and for me i'm like whenever i feel
being creative i'm gonna when the iron's hot i'm gonna hit yeah because that's that's just my
creative process yeah and there's people that have talked to me like, yo, like you got to, like a samurai,
you have to like make yourself and put yourself in situations to create, to sharpen that sword.
And I'm like, I feel you, but that's just not the way I do things.
Like that's not the way that I feel most creative.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's hard to like force art.
Yeah.
Like you can't quantify like inspiration and stuff like that.
Like what if I pull shifts like you do from 12 to 4 and i have no
inspiration and i'm forcing and then you got stuff to come out something comes out you know you're
inspired at 7 30 but you're like well yeah well it's not 4 p.m i'm out i can't do it
i'm compartmentalizing this too much yeah but but like sometimes inspiration will hit random times
i'll just get on my iPhone and voice memos something
or write it down.
Because I really will have Jimmy Neutron brain blasts
at random moments.
And I'll be like, oh, what?
This is dope.
And just all my ideas on my phone and just have it there
and just come back to it when I have time to sit down and actually.
And is that just like melody stuff?
That's what I was going to ask.
Or like lyrics maybe?
So I'm not a, I don't write music or do melodies a lot unless i'm physically with the artist i was gonna
ask how much is you from scratch like so yeah so music wise so music wise sonically what i do is
like i'll sit down with the producer and i'll be like hey this is what's in my head this is what
i'm hearing and i'll do the melodies like that i'll i'll have stuff recorded not all the time
and then we'll be like we'll try to execute it and make it happen
most of the time
when I get brain blast
I'm a big
like
like
art direction
and like
just
promo kind of guy
I love doing like
promo stuff
art direction
creative direction
like
thinking of ideas
on how to like
elevate things
I'm big on that
I love doing that kind of stuff
I'm just like
oh this is great let's do this let's do this we were talking like last week and you said
like a dream job of yours would be like creative director for like a musician or a tour or something
that would be super fire like even for a church bro i'm just like i just love being able to
be like yo i think this would be dope and like executing it and like it coming to coming to pass
i mean how fired up i just i've seen the clip of uh timbaland playing
that dirt on your shoulder for jay-z like a hundred times and every time i watch it like
you just like wake up just like this is what i'm doing right now yeah no legit yeah i love it bro
like i think music is one of the most uh creative things that people can do to connect to others.
Yeah.
Because it's like, I think, and that's why I love DJing, because it's like, I think you can change somebody's outlook or mood just with the play of a song.
Yeah.
Like, somebody can come into a Trey show and be like, ah, whatever.
Like, you know, like the husband that got dragged here, ah, whatever.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't want to be here.
My wife's here.
Like, whatever.
Right.
And I can play a dope song that he loves, and he's like, you know what?
Tonight's going to be a good day.
Right.
Yeah. You know what I'm saying
like
100%
simple as that
you know
I think music has like
a very powerful
and like
just a really big influence
on people's moves
and like
how they move
and stuff like that
oh yeah
I don't wanna forget later
so I'm gonna bring up now
I wanna give you a chance
to plug
you got a new album
coming out real soon
right
when's it come out
what's it called
so the album
is called Bodega 2.
Bodega 1 came out
a year and a half,
almost two years ago.
Bodega 2 probably come out
May.
We don't have a date
for the album yet,
but the first single
comes out next Friday.
That's what I was,
April 19th it comes out
and I'm super hyped for that.
Like it's going to be so crazy.
It's crazy because I,
so like,
remember we were talking
about last week,
I was like,
I'm trying to figure out
ways to like,
be on social media and stuff like that. So like, Oh yeah, we had a little, I was like, I'm trying to figure out ways to like be on social media and stuff like that.
So like-
Oh yeah.
We had a little social media class.
So I'm going to start doing like with the fans probably in Texas, because we have like
a lot of fans in Texas.
So I'm going to start doing some fans where I like, you know, I'm going to get my 360
camera or whatever and use it as a regular camera and like have my AirPod Max Pros and
be like, hey, I'm going to let you listen to this song.
Tell me what you think.
And I get the live reaction on social media.
I think that would be super fire.
But I love just seeing how people react to music because it's just like, yeah, it's just super.
How do you choose which single comes out first?
For me, it's a feeling.
Selfishly, it's like if I like it, I'm like, this is me, though.
People are different.
For me, I'm like if I like it and it brings emotion out of me, I'm like, we're dropping it.
Start with that one.
Yes.
Or like you kind of know how to gauge your own audience.
It's like, ah, bro, they're going to like it.
At the same time though, like with music, some people are really affected by their audience.
And they make decisions based off of that.
And in a way
i'm like i affect my audience because like this is gonna sound crazy but i don't mean it in the
way it's gonna come out but like they're a fan of me i'm not a fan of them so they listen they
listen to what i put out so if i if i subject myself to what they think yeah then i'm creating
what they want and i want that's an interesting thought you know i'm saying so i want to create
what i want to create and if you like it, yo, thank you.
If you don't like it, maybe there's a next time.
That's an interesting thought because I've talked about before
so many bands that I like will pivot from one style
to another album to album.
And sometimes it bothers me because I'm like,
hey, I liked Mumford & Sons.
This is a classic white boy answer.
But I love Mumford & Sons.
It was so awesome.
And then they changed to this like more like ethereal, rocky kind of stuff,
which I liked, but I was like, I miss the bluegrassy banjo.
Yeah.
You know, kind of thing.
Or like Judah and the Lion.
Okay.
Or I'm a big Mute Math fan.
I don't know.
You don't know Mute Math?
Don't know, but the name is fire.
Mute Math is dope.
They're so fun.
And they had like one style, and then they completely changed.
And at first, it's like you don't really want them to change.
Or the Beatles.
I'm a huge Beatles guy, and they started off-
Favorite Beatles album.
Probably Revolver, maybe.
Okay.
Wow.
Sleeper.
Yeah.
Okay.
What are you going to say?
What's the joint with the Yellow Submarine?
Yellow Submarine?
Is that the album name? Yeah. Yeah, that. I think so. I think that's the joint with the yellow submarine yellow submarine is that the album name yeah yeah
that yeah i think so i think that's the album name i'm not a big beatles fan but i know but
like but like mikey we were talking about it last week but mikey and alan and all that they love
the beatles and and the beatles defined the change in musical culture and so it's like
on one hand i kind of hate on people changing sometimes on the
other hand it's like hey this is what i like this is what i'm into yeah kanye did a thing
i didn't like the way he did it great example but anyway it's hard like my favorite album and at
first it was like what's up with the people didn't like it but over time people were like
nah this is like this is great right this is great i think for me it's like uh when like somebody
somebody who told kanye they're like yo go back to making like college dropout or whatever This is great. I think for me, it's like when somebody told Kanye,
they were like, yo, go back to making College Dropout or whatever.
And he was like, then go listen to College Dropout.
I made that.
I made that.
I'm not going to make another one.
Go listen to that.
I'm making other things.
And I don't always agree with Kanye, but I'm like,
that's actually a crazy good take.
It's like, okay, yo, you want, oh, hey, make more like this.
I made that.
It's already there.
Yeah, I'm not going to make more of that.
I already made that.
Right.
That's a good word too.
Yeah.
I love it.
Creativity is like my favorite subject, bro, when it comes to anything in any form, bro.
Like, I am like, I'm a lover of everything and anything creative.
Culinary, comedy, movies.
I'm a big movie guy.
Like, I'm very, I love the arts, period.
Yeah.
It's just, I don't know what it is, but it's just something very i love the arts period yeah it's just i don't know what
it is but it's just something that i'm like man it's just it it like makes my all the endorphins
in my body go yeah yeah i mean surely growing up in new york like that doesn't hurt like that
inspiration it sucks in the best way right right grow up depression you know just grow up and oh
yeah that's what bradman rats carry yeah you know oh i meant just like growing up i'm kidding no no i mean no but growing up in new york city is
like just a melting pot bro music wise people wise attitude wise like it's just seeing different
things and being around different things and just like it's kind of like a nuclear exposure but like
in a good way because it's like what i mean by that is like people in kansas city don't get the
same things that new york city gets when it comes to how many people are there,
different cultures,
music,
and experiences.
It's like,
I think growing up in New York,
you're like put in a hyperbolic time chamber
and you have to grow up fast
and you have to like
do all these things,
you know?
Yeah.
So cool, man.
This is a question from me.
Last week,
you said the wrong city on stage.
Yeah.
You got Topeka and Wichita mixed up.
We've all done it. What's the
biggest mistake you've made? You should have just been like, white people!
Hello, caucus!
What's the biggest mistake you've made on stage?
DJing, vocally,
something like that. Biggest mistake I've ever
made on stage. Or even just like technologically. I mean, you ever just had the music stop playing or something like that biggest mistake I've ever made on stage or even just like
technologically
I mean you ever just
had the music
stop playing
or something like that
yeah there's times
well these are like
little ones
I'm trying to think
of a big one
but like little ones
are like
when I'm like
in my groove
and I accidentally
press the wrong button
in the middle of a song
a new song starts
and I'm like
they probably think
I'm the worst DJ
ever
like
oh they hired
this high school kid
DJ
yeah like literally
I'm like dang I just messed it up different BPMs yeah this is yeah ever like oh they hired this high school kid yeah like literally i'm working on the remix
transition there yeah they're like hmm different bpms yeah this is yeah that's like those are like
baby ones but i think the biggest one i've ever made on stage was like uh oh oh man i already
oh i remember this it was so embarrassing so i was on the road with social club are you familiar
with social club oh yeah back in the day yeah so i was on the road with Social Club. Are you familiar with Social Club? Oh. Yeah, back in the day.
Yeah, so I was on the road with Social Club.
Social Club Misfits?
Yeah.
I was on the road with Social Club,
and we were on a reservation.
We were DJing.
Be careful.
And I had...
You're an idiot.
So I have, like, real turntables.
You guys buried these guys.
I have, like, Technique 1200s,
like, real old-school turntables.
Okay.
But they were like,
hey, we want you to DJ for us,
but we're not gonna pay
for your bags so whatever and i'm like all right bro cool so i gotta buy a new dj rig that i don't
gotta check in i can just keep it in my boot bag or something so i bought a new rig and i bought
it like the day before i flew out and i didn't know how it worked and um so you did all this
instead of just checking one bag yes got it hey saving money baby yeah it's a grind uh and then and long story short i
didn't know the rig like that we set up soundcheck is good and we're in the middle of a show and i
guess like there's a filter pass on it on one of the songs so like instead of the song being like
hey what's up like the song is like and i'm like i don't know what's going on like and then like marty is like
we're gonna do an underwater version like yeah no like he was trying to play it off as much as
he could he's like oh yeah like start it over and it's still it's still like like it's just like not
clear as the filter pass on it and i'm just like i don't know what to do he's like yo like come on
like start it over like because he's like stalled as much as he could. Now it's just on me.
And I remember him just going to DJ Boof and being like...
And then finally fixing it, and I'm like...
All right.
He fixed it.
All right, last time.
Last time I'm ever coming out with him.
And that was indeed the last time.
The underwater remix.
Oh, man.
That's the most embarrassing moment for sure uh andrew asked um
what does on your mother mean or on your mother's mother mean oh on my mama or like
word to my mother so on my mama is like a southern thing and it's just like yo like
that's how you know stuff's about to get real. Like, yo, I'm my mama. I'm going to knock you out, bro. That's scary.
I'm swearing to my mom that I am going to put hands on you.
And now, words of my mom is the same thing, but it's like in North.
So it's like, yo, words of my mother, if you don't back up, I'm going to have to do what I got to do.
So whenever somebody puts something on their mom, it's best for you to walk away. Right.
It's best for you to walk away in any capacity.
Samuel asks, what were your first thoughts when John Chris wanted to make a rap song
with you?
Oh, I thought it was funny.
Like, but I thought it was funny.
And I was like, bro, no way.
Like, you're tripping.
Like, and he was like, no, I'm serious.
And I'm like, bet.
So me, Dill, and Few, John like booked out a studio in nashville and we like helped him write
his rap and stuff like that yeah and we really did a song like but john was like bro i don't
know how to do this i'm gonna leave everything to you like y'all just like you orchestrate it
and then he heard him yeah and we we made it work did a music video and everything and how was he
in the studio pretty like i'm imagining he was nervous white to start pretty white and nervous
but then we were like yo bro come on man like loosen up bro like and because he was rapping very like take a shot
matter of fact yeah like yeah exactly yeah exactly and we would have to like record it and then like
yo imitate us like oh interesting you know what i'm saying like yeah imitate that and it was just
funny it was a great experience was this the was it check your heart check your heart yeah yeah
great great great great that's fun uh he also had a follow-up question when is the sequel
have you been hit up by any of their white comedians i know that that john hit me up
it's like a year and a half ago like yo i'm trying to do a song with nelly a country rap song i want
you to help me out i was like bro wow he's never he's never done that before i was like yeah literally I was like bro I don't have the capacity for this right now but I'd love to help
if I had the time at the time I didn't have the time I was like I can't do it bro it's too much
of a play though a song with Nelly would have been lit but I'm just like I can't do it can't
do it I love you though Nelly might be my favorite rapper of all time I really liked his sound oh
just yeah growing up he a soul in my head.
Yeah, that one.
Yeah, that song and Dilemma are like the ones I'm like,
I'm going to skip those.
Somebody else asked, also in music,
what's the secret to making bangers with Indie Tribe
and then is going to Holy Smoke worth it?
Going to Holy Smoke is definitely worth it.
Not pandering, completely worth it.
What is Holy Smoke? So Holy Smoke, this is crazy. crazy so me and my friends we started our own music festival it's
a christian music festival um it's not explicitly christian in the sense of we only do christian
artists we do artists that are positive or you know i have the same morals as us and offer that
platform to them um but we started this is our fourth year i think going on fifth or fourth yeah
fourth or fifth year doing it.
And we've sold out every year, bro.
Wow.
And we've increased the venue every year.
First venue was 400 people.
Second venue was 800 people.
Last year was 1,200.
And this year we're trying to get to 15.
Let's go.
So we're just, every year is getting bigger and bigger.
Same spot?
Yeah, it's in Nashville.
It's a place called Rocket Town.
And we do this thing where it's like, it's not just a concert.
We actually do these things where it's like a panel. And we get people like a Rodney Jerkins and people like that in the creative industry that work for like Spotify or record labels.
And we have like a panel discussion for the fans.
Yeah.
For them to like learn how to be an indie artist.
Cool.
And get to ask questions.
Like four musicians.
Yeah.
Like it's four musicians that come and like unwind and enjoy the concert, but also learn
and feel like they got value from it
always worth it i love it um and with bangers bro it's because we're so close to each other
we're really like real life friends um i've seen groups that come together only because they all
like make good music and together that's it and they're not really friends we're all really close
friends we love each other i think what goes into the bangers is just like all of our musical tastes
and how we all are similar in ways that we're like,
yo,
we're able to kind of play off of each other and have that synergy.
Right.
And it always comes out in the best way.
Yeah.
It's so fun working with people you love because then it's just like,
yeah,
it's just so much easier to,
to push,
push harder and to push.
It's like,
you don't feel,
I don't feel bad being like,
Jake,
let's do this crazy thing.
He said he loved you.
You didn't say it back.
That's crazy.
I was reading. You still didn't say it back. That's crazy. I was reading.
You still didn't say it back.
That's crazy.
It's all right.
We all know.
We all know.
Jake's not a word of affirmation guy, I can see.
Yes, I am.
Janelle asks, what's your least favorite tattoo?
Oh, right here, bro.
I'll show you right now.
The camera can't see it.
But I want it to be one of my favorite tattoos.
This is The Warriors from, I think, 1978. It came out. out one of my favorite movies it's about a gang in new york and uh they
get framed for killing this major gang leader and they have to like make it home okay and on the way
home every gang in the new york state trying to kill them because they were framed and then at
the end of the movie they find out it's not it wasn't them it was a different gang and all that
stuff interesting what's one of my favorite movies i've never heard of have you seen the new the new because they were framed, and then at the end of the movie, they find out it wasn't them. It was a different gang and all that stuff. Interesting.
It was one of my favorite movies.
I've never heard of it.
Have you seen the new John Wick, John Wick 4?
No.
I've never seen a John Wick in my life.
They're great action movies.
I know.
I hear great things.
Up there with The Matrix, low key.
Yeah.
But they actually referenced that movie in John Wick,
and I was freaking out when they did it.
But I got this tattoo on Dude Perfect.
We had an off day in Denver Denver and me and my homegirl
Chelsea and Anna
were like yo
we're gonna get tattoos
you wanna come?
I was like yo I'll come
yeah I know what I want
and I showed this dude
a picture
I was like yo I want this
and he was like bro
I got you it's easy
whatever
and the tattoo went fine
like it didn't hurt
I was chilling
whatever
and I take care of my tattoos
and I think two weeks later
it healed
and I'm like yo
this joint looks like a blob.
Like he didn't even color it fully.
Like I was so mad
and I was like,
bro,
people are like,
no,
it looks fine to me
and I'm like,
I see it
and I don't like it.
Like I don't,
yeah,
it's unfortunate
but that's probably
my least favorite tattoo.
It's good to have one.
Yeah,
you know,
just a story to tell.
Yeah,
yeah.
Mile high,
forget Denver. Another thing you missed this past weekend on the tell. Yeah, yeah. Mile high. Forget Denver.
Another thing you missed this past weekend on the road.
So, yeah, Trey had a choir come out.
I love when he brings the choirs out.
Yeah, it was kind of fun for the last show in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
So, in addition to the 20-person production crew,
now we've got like a 15-person choir also backstage with us.
So, it's chaos.
Oh, my God.
But what was really fun to this choir i mean
very much just like choir culture they're they're warming up and they start singing and everyone's
on their feet primarily like black choir i mean it's a great vibe i was like pull out my phone
i was like this is awesome in addition to them dad like just proud dad yes you're doing great
i can't it was so fun.
And then also they're like, I don't know, the leader of it.
He like took on the role of like a black pastor in the middle of them singing.
So like they would sing a little bit and then they would like let it like simmer for a little bit.
And then he would like rattle off like Psalms or something. It was like one of the coolest things.
He would, what did he say one time?
He's like, Jake's first day at black church, baby.
Yes, sir.
Yeah, it was awesome.
Yeah, they were saying, he's like, we're going to go out there tonight and we're going to
try our best.
And if we don't have it, we know God's got the rest.
And they would say, ooh, and then they would start singing again.
Crazy.
I was like, I'm bummed Mikel's missing this.
He'd be joining in.
I'm pissed.
I really would have, though.
I really would have.
I'd have been mad like that.
Hey.
I'd have been like, yeah, with the world on and everything. bond and everything yeah it was awesome the choir was great they did a good
job i love when he has the choir bro it definitely yeah one of the only white guys uh came up to me
and said dude huge fan so yeah yeah press it shout out preston did uh our boy jonah come out
jonah the podcast knows Jonah.
This is the guy who said,
Vid's coming soon.
He sent us a picture of the tree.
He's Salt Lake City based.
Bro, every time I see Trey,
I'm like, Trey, bro,
he finessed you so hard, bro.
Because that weekend was insane.
First of all,
this is the weekend between
my wedding and my honeymoon.
I'm already having a good time.
And then also,
Trey rents a boat for us.
We'd never done that before and never done it again.
Hard Rock Casino in Tampa.
It was the best.
You were feeling good.
Jonah came out and didn't do
a darn thing. We did TPC Sawgrass
that weekend, too. It was insane
how much we did that weekend. My man did all that
for free.
Yeah, so we didn't see Jonah.
Sauce them up.
Yeah, we love Jonah.
He's our favorite.
Diamondbacks,
Miami Heat,
and Yankee.
No, and who is it?
Utah Jazz.
Something like that.
You know, just the classic.
It's very typical.
Cowboys, I think.
Whatever.
What do you think is the best
Disney soundtrack?
Oh, brother.
Do you know me like that? No, there's no way i'm a big disney person yeah he went viral yeah talking about this
oh really yes bro that is like that's my bro because i mentioned on the last podcast how
unironically i'm just very into the tarzan soundtrack right now what is he's showing me his tattoo
I have the Tarzan tattoo
bro Tarzan is
I arguably say
Tarzan is the best soundtrack
but then somebody corrected me
so I will concede to this
Lion King is number one
Lion King is number one but Tarzan is 1A
and then 2 is
Hercules I don't know Hercules and 3 is Mulan say lion king lion king is number one but tarzan is 1a okay yeah and then two is hercules oh that
is uh i don't know hercules and three is mulan mulan oh yeah mulan's nice yeah okay those are
my top how much you know about frozen because i got little kids and oh i haven't i haven't
i know it's good i know it's good it's a it's definitely top five nowhere near the top three
i will i will die on that hill i i Lion King maybe is my favorite movie of all time.
So I just think in general.
Have you ever heard Versus?
Do you know what Versus is?
During the pandemic, it would be like rapper versus rapper or R&B artist versus R&B artist.
And it would be like their hits versus this person's hits.
So me and my friends did a Versus for Tarzan and Hercules and Lion King.
And that's how I came to the conclusion.
All right.
Lion King is number one. But Tarzan is Hercules and Lion King. And that's how I came to the conclusion. All right, Lion King is number one,
but Tarzan is 1A for sure.
Tarzan just doesn't have the depth, I think,
but the quality on them.
I mean, they got hits on hits, bro.
Phil Collins, they were like,
hey, man, this is just,
this is a movie about a man
discovering himself
and living with apes
and trying to rediscover
who he is as a human.
And Phil was like, got you yeah classic i understand yeah classic son of man son of man like bro like i i mean you know the classics but then you listen to son of man you're like
whoa this one's like maybe actually like getting me like crying a little bit bro that's me with uh
you'll be in my heart which is this yes that's my man okay uh when was the last
time you watched bambi because i had never watched it growing up man i only watched like twice in my
life okay i don't even know highlights of it and one of them is the the mother dying right
but there's a song in there that i want some buddy who knows music to remix okay called april
shower or drip drip drop april showers drip drip by the Migos coming out soon. There is a hip-hop beat waiting to be remixed with this song.
Drip Drip Drop.
It's like these...
I mean, it's just an instrumental...
Yeah, play it real quick.
We got...
It's just like an instrumental choir.
It's acapella, I guess, not instrumental.
Drip Drip Drop.
Just listen to it
from the beginning
yeah
okay
bro Disney was in their bag, bro.
Hans Zimmer who?
Yeah.
Nah, this is hard, bro.
They always did a good job of the music,
even with Peter Pan, too.
Peter Pan is so good.
Even those old school Disney movies,
they were in their bag back then.
They're still in their bag now.
But it gets going.
They get some bass in there,
like some altos.
I mean, just listen to it.
That's all I'm going to say.
If you make a million dollars on it, give me five.
Give me a poker chip.
Blackjack chip.
A blackjack chip.
Hey, Brad, play real quick.
Play it, man.
Play it and win.
Please.
Grayson, he doesn't have a question.
He just says, I saw him with Dude Perfect when I was in fifth grade.
Now I'm a sophomore at LMAO.
Yo, I'm not going to lie, bro. that makes me feel extremely thanks grayson bro i saw him in fifth grade now i'm a sophomore five six seven eight nine test
five that's like what five years good for you so that means that he must have seen me when they
first went out pre-pandemic like the first tour they did to now. So, okay, that's not that crazy.
Because the pandemic was like four years, basically, low-key.
Yeah, well, yeah.
Four years ago or four years long?
I mean, it felt like, well, it was like three years long, wasn't it?
Depends on if you're in New York, yes.
Dude, my dad, this past
weekend, he was talking about like, yeah,
he's talking to my cousin who, we don't hang out
with that often, but he's like, yeah, we got
into cards, card games really big and during covid times and he goes do you remember covid and i was like
what did you just ask it wasn't the depression it was like four years ago yeah i remember do you
remember like you remember covid time there are such a hard time i say this with respect
with minus the death of so many people,
I do miss the pandemic.
It was a special time.
Time of just being alone.
However you want to define special.
Bro, so me and my friends have a group chat
that we started from friends on the internet
and real life friends playing Call of Duty.
And we would run,
I think I told Jake before,
we would run shifts, bro.
Wake up at 9 a.m., not get off the games like 4 a.m. And we would run, I think I told Jake, we would run shifts, bro. Like, wake up at 9 a.m.,
not get off the games
like 4 a.m.,
no exaggeration,
every day.
Yeah.
And guess what?
That government check
was hidden every Friday.
I was running shifts
to play Call of Duty, baby.
That joint was crazy.
Oh, man.
Yeah, I mean, Jake and I,
I feel like we definitely
got way closer
during the pandemic stuff.
It was just awesome.
We just played so much pickleball.
We just won't say that you love you.
Say it.
You love him?
I do.
I love Brad.
Oh.
W's in the shot.
Let's go.
Man.
Well, we could talk to you, I'm sure, for a long time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I love talking, man.
Especially to my friends.
Thanks, dude.
Yeah.
Thanks for hopping on the pod.
Say I'm your friend.
You're my friend.
Thanks.
You're my friend, too. Should we, like, kiss on the pod. Say I'm your friend. You're my friend. Thanks.
You're my friend, too.
Should we like kiss or?
No.
I mean, I mean, shake hands.
Shake hands with our...
Oh!
Dude.
Thank you, man.
You'll be in my heart.
Hit it again.
Oh, man.
Sorry, dude.
Ah!
I thought there was something in it.
I'm like, bro, what are the odds?
I just drop everything on his Mac. Hey, friends forgive each other.
Friends forgive each other.
I'm going to invoice you.
Yeah, I'll figure it out.
When are you back on the road with us next?
I don't, unfortunately.
You're going to do Perfect Europe soon, don't you?
That's in September.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, okay.
So I think I should be, I'm assuming,
but I think I should be back out to you guys in the summer.
May, June, July.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fun.
Wow.
We'll see.
Well, this is great that you ended up in Kansas City
the day we were already planning on recording the podcast.
That worked out.
Yeah, you asked me and I was like,
yes, immediately, yes.
100%.
No question.
Yeah, the ghosties already love you.
That's what Jake asked.
Ghosties.
Do you think it'd be okay if Mike,
I was like, 100%.
Ghosties.
Love you.
Brad, time, anything else for Mike L?
One last burning question
I don't know
no
well we're going to do win of the week
win of the week
we do yeah on our Wednesday
Wednesday's episode or Wednesday's
Wednesday's
oh clever clever clever
like a win of the week
it's a Wednesday
so like what?
Like an accomplishment that happened?
Yeah, it's very vague.
It can be like something good that happened to you.
Dope.
I think, can't go too much in detail, but I made a mistake.
And my win is that I had the option to lie and hide from it.
And then I took it on the chin, presented it the way I needed to,
and was wise about it.
And I felt like that was a win for me.
Dude, yeah.
That's cool.
I feel like that was a win.
That is such a win, and it's such a sucky win.
In some ways, it's like, dang.
It's a great win, but it's a win that I'm losing.
It's a humble, like, I got to humble myself here.
It's a good win.
But in the end, that's good.
I love that.
The thing he messed up on was taping the wire down.
So my friend called me an idiot.
Tymon, you got one?
New mile PR.
Dang.
It keeps hitting.
What are you, like eight minutes?
I never expect to actually try for it.
So this one was six minutes and 12 seconds.
Oh, my.
Sheesh.
How old are you?
17.
How do you?
What are you, six?
Eight?
That's why he runs so fast.
He can't drive.
I ran here.
You look like you belong in, like, the Hunger Games.
Or, like, the, like, Kingsman series like okay or like uh so the like kingsman series
612 is crazy are they good looking in that or yeah yeah okay okay cool for sure he does he's
got like that british like yeah bro you look bad you look very angry that's crazy you see that
video that somebody posted of some guy that looked like you dancing like spongebob in time square
oh yeah it's the same guy we've talked about that looks like a mix of
Tymon and I before.
That guy really did look like you.
He was like an America's Got Talent kid or something.
Doppelganger.
Yeah.
6'12".
That's really moving on.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
It was like, I think it was the difference of my last one,
I was in a hoodie and joggers.
And so this one, I was in like short sleeves and shorts. And so this one, I was in short sleeves and shorts.
You feel like an athlete.
You feel like just like a layer of dynamic.
Yeah, Forrest Gump, get the braces off.
And way less hills on this one.
It was like at my friend's house.
Dang.
Crazy, bro.
Brad?
I had a 6'11 PR.
No, that's great.
Okay, no, this is...
I want to make sure, we might have to cut this out, but I want to make sure we might have to cut this out
but I'm going to make sure
it's alright to say
because it's not
completely my news
but our
cool guy Sammy
friend of the podcast
friend of ours
we played basketball
with him
he
doesn't matter
he
accepted Christ
this past fall
oh let's go
no way
grew up Muslim
yeah
that's hard
and just texted me
I know where he's like
dude I'm converting.
I'm following Jesus as my savior.
Dude, that's amazing.
That's hard.
Where's he at?
In Boston.
In Boston.
And this is the next cool part.
I mean, that is just, obviously, that is unbelievably, praise God, amazing.
And so he got baptized this past Sunday.
Go crazy.
And I was like, dang, I would love to go up there and see him.
But I was like, I can't go to Boston.
I'm going.
My grandma passed away.
And so I just went and saw her in Ohio.
He's here right now.
He's coming right now.
Hey!
Fill up the bathtub.
And so he's getting baptized on Sunday.
I'm like, I can't make it.
And so I just put out a thing on the Facebook group.
I was like, any ghosties in Boston?
And people responded to me.
I was like, anybody want to go cheer on Sammy's baptism?
Oh, that's cool. And I think like seven ghosties went that is hard bro it was yo y'all got some fire fans yes dude
i mean that that's hard that's i didn't even say like christian ghosties because i feel like hey
most of them are anyway let them watch let them watch that's crazy and so there's this video i
mean he's just like jesus christ is my savior. Absolutely. I trust in the Lord for, you know. I mean, it's just like, oh, that was awesome.
Catch in the chat.
Yeah.
That's cool.
Assuming Sammy's all right with me saying this to everybody, which hopefully that's
the public proclamation, I guess.
But I was just so pumped for him.
That's hard.
That's so hard.
Anyway.
Shout out to Sammy, baby.
We love you.
Cool guy, Sammy.
Dang.
Cool guy.
I should have saved that one for last.
Sorry.
It's yours, huh?
Mine was going to be that I got this shirt.
Dude, that shirt is so awesome. I want that shirt bro and it's scary how much you look like luke skywalker in this song yeah
that's my senior picture that's that's not a luke skywalker thing that's like that is jake skywalker
holy you're a skywalker bro you're a wizard harry me at 18 also a little harry potter vibes there
but yeah a girl showed up in the front row with a shirt on. I
met up with her in the lobby afterwards. Oh, word.
Okay.
All right, Jake. All right, then. Love it, man.
And just took your shirt
off. Puffing at eyes, bro.
Now we're here.
That was great. There was way
more people around than I would have preferred when
I exchanged shirts with her, but it was fun. It was cool. There was way more people around than I would have preferred when I exchanged shirts with her,
but it was fun.
It was cool.
Also, while that was happening,
someone else was just like,
hey, Jake, love the show.
See you later.
And I was like, oh, hey, thanks.
Appreciate it.
She was, time and age,
she's a Gen Z fan,
and she threw up the heart.
Are you aware how Gen Z
is throwing up hearts these days?
They look like gang sign.
Yeah, she's flashing me stuff.
She's like, love you. Yeah, I thought she was a crip. They look like gang signs. Yeah, she's flashing me stuff.
She's like, love you.
What happened to this one?
See, this one looks a lot less like a heart, Brad.
What?
That's a beefy heart, my brother.
Well, okay. Depends on the angle.
I feel like this is like a heart that goes through trials and tribulations.
This is a very fickle heart.
Well, that's not how it is.
It's like the two front pages.
She did this.
Yeah, she's doing this to me.
Drake was like,
I am not associated with any gang.
Look, I'm neutral.
You're in Utah.
How involved could you possibly be?
What does this mean?
Put it down.
Am I going to get shot anytime soon?
Yeah, I was like,
hey, Jake, love the show.
Appreciate you.
Do you know anyone else see that Gen Z art?
I've never seen that before.
Yeah, it was like this.
It's unfortunate.
It's like Kevin Malone on The Office. Right back at you. Like, do you want to see that Gen Z heart? I've never seen that before. Yeah, it was like this. It's unfortunate. It's like Kevin Malone
on The Office.
Right back at you.
Flips her off.
So yeah,
those two went
back-to-back wins.
Yeah,
I saw my first
Gen Z heart.
I love that shirt.
I think it's so fun.
Yeah,
the shirt's awesome.
I want it.
Me too.
I think we need
to sell them,
honestly.
It was my first
jersey swap
with a woman.
Ask Trey if he can bring merch,
and I bet you he'll sell out more than him.
That shirt is fire, bro.
That shirt is fire.
I do.
You know, Katie, before the special,
she was like,
Jake, so what are you wearing tonight?
And I was like, you know,
Rachel's not here,
so I might need you as kind of my stylist.
I was like, but I wore an outfit last week
for the first time,
and Mikel complimented it,
so I think I'm good, actually.
The fact that Mikel told me it was good.
Should we tell the story about Trey's shoes?
Oh, yes.
All right, yeah, I'll end with this.
Do you have a picture of it?
Surely someone took a picture.
I don't have a picture, bro.
What should I Google for you?
Whatever, I'll let you tell the story.
I don't even know, bro.
Trey's preparing for the special, and this might get sold to Netflix,
Amazon, Hulu, wherever.
And he can't wear brands.
He doesn't want to have a branded shoe on in case it creates issues.
So he pops out with full confidence.
He's like, bro, I got these shoes, man.
He told me I was going to like them.
He's like, Micah, you're going to love them.
I'm like, all right.
All right.
Let's see.
Next week, come.
And he gets in the bus.
He has them on.
And those joints look like
chimney sweep shoes
they look
they look like
he's walking on
cobblestone roads
in the 30s bro
and he popped out
extra extra
he popped out
full confidence bro
like yo these are good
his mind
he was like
chim chim chim
chim chim chim chim chim chim that's what he was like chip to me chip to me chip chip to
brew that's what he was on bro dude and he came out he popped out full confidence like yo mike
yo these are gonna kill him bro and i he popped out with his outfit he said what do you think and
i he came to me and i was like bro that those you needed you need to take those shoes off
like i was so direct with them i was like bro those are not immediately. I was so direct with him. I was like, bro, those are not lit.
But he was trying to convince himself
because he spent money on them.
He was like, nah, these are lit, bro.
And I'm like, you can tell yourself that all day,
but I know and you know those are not lit, bro.
Good for you.
He was like, all right, bet.
He was trying to show me up.
You know, like, oh, nah, I'm aware.
I'm like, do you, bro?
I'm giving you my advice.
Take it or leave it.
Right?
Yeah.
The special day comes i get
a text yo i got these instead bro and i'm like go crazy they were way better yeah yeah and even
jake text he's like hey bro change the change of plans change your shoes you were right these are
way better and i'm like i didn't know trey texted you so i was like i gotta let michael know the
trade change first of all he like he took a picture of him like that i was like i mean good for you
for like being honest because my brother i am the most forward person you will ever meet.
Do a fault at times.
Sure, yeah.
But I think for the most part, as long as you do it purely,
like as long as you're not like trying to be a jerk.
Yeah, I'm not trying to be a jerk.
There was one time though that me and Tom were at the airport at like 6, 5.
No exaggeration, 5 a.m.
And Tom ordered two Bloody Marys.
Two.
Two. 5 a.m. And he ordered two Bloody Marys. Two. Two.
5 a.m.
He came, sat down next to me, and I was like, Tom, you good, man?
You good?
You good, bro?
Yeah.
Two is crazy.
Two is wild.
Two is accomplishing something.
It's not just like, I like the way they taste.
Yeah, no.
Two is like, you have a goal that you're trying to meet.
These are the exact shoes, but they're not slippers,
but it was like black on top,
cork on bottom.
Yeah, it was like,
they were like boots.
They look like commando boots
from like the 30s.
Trey's not a boots guy.
My brother,
they were something.
So what did he wear instead?
They weren't even like Doc Martens.
They weren't even like dope boots.
It literally looked like
he was somewhere in Iowa
farming hay. for no reason
he swore them joints was fire like there's like this meanness like oh like you thought you ate
like you thought you cleared the plate my brother you left the entire meal on the plate
oh so what did he end up wearing instead you have i've got a picture of this is what i texted
it's such a better outfit yeah they're like kind like kind of some light tan. Which is more up his alley.
Way better.
What do you think of his vertical stripe bowler-esque shirt?
I like his style.
I like his style too.
I wish he would lean more into it.
Yeah.
Because he's like, you know, he does all the dad jokes now.
And by dad jokes, I mean his bits are about being a father.
Yeah, yeah.
And I'm like, bro, are you familiar with Kith?
You know Kith?
Yeah, yeah.
He's like, there's Kith. He has this line. Fear of God. his bits are about being a father yeah bro are you familiar with kith you know kith yeah he's
like there's kith is like has this line fear of like like they have really dope like bowling
shirts with like some good trousers i'm like bro you can go crazy with some of the style yeah yeah
especially you bro he has good style so yeah and he's he's a good looking dude yeah that's why when
he pulled those boots i was like bro yeah you're way off brand right now. This is not brand alignment at all.
You're not where you need to be.
When I texted Mikel about Trey's shoes,
he texted back,
better than those plow the yard church butter shoes.
He's thinking about the churning butter, bro.
My man with my...
I'm surprised Katie didn't have a bonnet on.
Yeah, he's like a Jamestown, Virginia.
Bro, he's an Amish guy.
You're 1800.
Apple butter.
That's a great spot in it.
So, yeah.
Good wins of the week.
