Starting point is 00:00:00 Okay. So dude, you know how we were watching Sloan last week, Sloan dog millionaire Sloan. Uh, so I had the fun task of driving her halfway back home to, uh, what's it called? Not broken arrow, Oklahoma, uh, big cabin, Oklahoma, Oklahoma. What a, what a, what a place, Oklahoma. You never know what the state, the cities are going to be named there, but, um, just me and Sloan. And I don't know if you ever drove too many places one-on-one with your uncle when you were two years old it's kind of an awkward situation um it's it was like like she she's fine with me whenever katherine's around whenever hattie's around whenever it's just me and her it was just kind of like this is uncomfortable uncles are scary kind of yeah and i and of course like the harder i try not to be scary the more i feel like i'm just a little bit creepy you know my uncle had a mustache which was like legitimately creepy and scary to me when i was younger like what's this guy doing with this caterpillar on top of his mouth i didn't like it and so anyway i was driving down and you know it was like it was literally like legitimately like talking to a brick wall like she didn't she didn't respond at all like
Starting point is 00:01:02 and i was like pulling out all the stops i was being goofy you know i was like oh you know like what do you think sloan can you see any cows you know whatever like all the classic road trip things talking bovine and eventually i was like maybe i should just give up but it was like no it's a brick wall with feelings like you have to keep talking to this brick wall um and i tried i mean really didn't crack her for pretty much the whole trip i think that the near the end i got kind of kind of into you know a good spot with her and i think it was because i started playing veggie tales i i played she's a big bob she doesn't like larry too much but she's a real big bob fan so he's bob the tomato yeah bob's a tomato makes sense he's got
Starting point is 00:01:39 shaped like a bob yeah yeah he looks like a bob larry larry's more slender and green yeah like most larry's and like most cucumbers right so uh anyway bob the tomato played veggie tales and so broke down those walls broke down the walls so we're gonna break down walls to start this episode with a little veggie tales parody get ready to feel some emotions you've never felt before. If you have some poultry of the week, if you think just drinks are neat, if jokes and jingles are what you seek, then you best get on your feet. Have we got a pod for you.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners. Ghost Runners, Ghost Runners, Ghost Runners Pickleball, Chick-fil-A, Patreon, Ghost Runners
Starting point is 00:02:53 Voice Mimos, 5 Star Reviews, I'm Down Boys, Ghost Runners Every Monday they get zany don't get hurt there's never ever ever ever ever like there's never ever ever ever ever like get on your feet ghosties that's when the kids sing or laugh right there. Dude, that was great. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:03:31 I've been listening. VeggieTales has been revived in my life. Hadn't listened to it since second grade. I was going to say, you definitely know that song well. Much better. Once you started singing, I was like, oh, yeah. Never heard of VeggieTales. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:42 I guess there's still, I still remember there's a couple like staples. You never forget. Uh, where is my hairbrush? Right. That was my favorite one. Yeah. Hey,
Starting point is 00:03:50 for my hairbrush. That one's super hot. His cheeseburger or. Oh yeah. That one's, um, cheeseburger, cheeseburger.
Starting point is 00:04:00 That's like, uh, what's a good equivalent to that song? Like you forget that you think of like the classic usher songs and then you forget that he also came out with like make love in this club like oh yeah that one's good too there you go that's that's that's mr lunt uh cheese his cheeseburger that's what that song is to me like oh yeah that one is good you don't hear people talk about it as much that one's got some good lines in it dude you would be surprised how deep veggie tails runs
Starting point is 00:04:23 like i mean i'm sure 20 20 albums i bet they have oh i'll take them like the lyrics were deep oh yeah no i don't know maybe that too i remember uh which one did i really like to oh the uh the bunny oh yeah see i didn't know that one until hattie like i didn't know the bunny the bunny yeah yeah i hate the body yeah yeah dude that was a good one um anyway so veggie tales been revived in nebuchadnezzar wow yeah it's it's it is pretty cool like hattie obviously doesn't know all the right names to the bible stories but she knows a lot of these bible stories because of veggie tales so good for them yeah do you follow jefferson beth whoa jefferson bethke on instagram i don't but i follow uh nicholas butler aka knack baxter who posted about jeff jefferson beth whoa jefferson beth key on instagram i don't but i follow uh nicholas butler aka knack baxter who posted about jeff jeff beth key okay right on because he started doing something
Starting point is 00:05:09 that i guess kind of reminds me of vegetales just like you know an adult making children's biblical content and yeah it's really cool i think he's like invested a ton of time and money into it so wishing the best it's like lego right yeah i know i i don't know if hattie's old enough for that yet but i'm excited i just get so excited forattie's old enough for that yet but i'm excited i just get so excited for like showing my kids things and like watch like i can't wait to watch space jam with bow oh it's gonna be awesome you know that first time whenever michael like little young michael jordan shooting hoops he's like michael you need to come inside and then it's like come on inside welcome to the jam i'll would be freaking out. I'd be like, Bo, you see that?
Starting point is 00:05:46 Come on and slam, Bo. Come on, Bo. Welcome to the jam, Bo. Welcome to the jam. I'm going to do it way to her. He's going to be like two years old. He's going to be like, I don't know what's going on. Bo, you're not even looking, Bo. Come on, it's Sean Bradley. Muggsy Bogues.
Starting point is 00:06:02 How'd they get Sean Bradley in there? Why'd they put him in there? I don't think he had a lot going on. They needed, like, a tall guy, I guess. Yeah, they had Patrick Ewing. They needed, like, a freak tall guy. Manute Ball didn't understand what they were asking. Do you remember George Mirosan? Yeah, he was the one.
Starting point is 00:06:15 He looked like he had elephantitis or something. Something was up with George. But he played in the NBA. Yeah. He has... Rick Smits. Oh, Rick Smits was another good one. He had a cool name, like the Flying Dutchman or something like that.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Maybe something Dutchman for sure. Yeah, dude. Anyway, so. So that's been 90s basketball players over seven feet tall. I have my one more thing. My mom found a Sports Illustrated for kids book like called Wacky Basketball Facts. I've been reading the Hattie before bed. It's so fun because she actually likes and cares about all these basketball players that like no normal kids don't know
Starting point is 00:06:49 about that's lovely hit me with some wacky stats um i'm trying to remember like there was one the san antonio spurs one time their sprinklers went off in their like in 1950 or something in their court and they played in water that's wackyy. That's wacky. Yeah. No, that's wacky. But they have a, they have a, they have a George Mirison hand in there, like an actual replica hand in the book. Uh huh. And she loves looking at Shaquille O'Neal. He's got like a funny face in it. I mean, it's just really fun.
Starting point is 00:07:16 And then we got to the Michael Jordan page and I was like, you know, reading, I was like, Michael Jordan's considered to be the best of all time. And how'd he goes? I know him. I've heard of him. And I was like, I've done something right. the best of all time. And how'd he goes? I know him. I've heard of him. And I was like, I've done something right. We're on the right track. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Anyway, I've heard of him. Yeah. That's, that's a good thing. Like if she only knows a few athletes, but they are Patrick Mahomes, Michael Jordan, and maybe Patrick Ewing. If you relay that story on to her and that's pretty good. Yeah. Bo, Bo like really takes the Patrick Ewing.
Starting point is 00:07:42 I have that Michael Jordan wings poster in my office of my shop, and Bo the other day was just staring at it for so long. And I was like, are you having an emotional connection with Michael Jordan right now? Is this how it starts? Come on and laugh! So anyway, I don't know. I hope Space Jam 2 is at least decent. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:03 And it's going to be hard for us to judge it because we're not young anymore. You know what I mean? Definitely. But I'll just go into it with low expectations of like, this is going to be fun. Let's make sure it's fun. That's all I really want to care about.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Do we know? Do they have any kind of comedic relief? Like, do they have a Bill Murray in this version? Because I think they need that. I don't know for sure, but you would think, right? Who would that be for you? For me? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Who do I want in there? I would love Will Ferrell to be in Space Jam too i don't think that's gonna happen uh maybe like chris rock okay yeah that would be fun yeah kevin hart i think i don't know if he would do something like that but yeah that would be great really yeah yeah i'm trying to think like bill murray's like a big deal you know like he was a big deal in his day. So maybe Will Ferrell is like on the table. Maybe. And we just I'm sure we just haven't heard of it. He did that one comedy sketch with DeMar DeRozan and Drake. So that's basketball. OK. Yeah. See that one? Oh, really? I feel like it's reposted like all the time. They're him and Drake. Will Ferrell and Drake are giving a team of basketball players tips on how to celebrate.
Starting point is 00:09:05 And then DeMar DeRozan kind of like talks back to him and they just like get real sassy with DeMar. DeMar kind of name is that. DeMar, I say it. DeMar, I don't like it. And yeah, Drake and Will Ferrell, both pretty funny together. Pretty good. Good timing.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Good timing. That's awesome. That's awesome. Well, what's going on, dude? How's how's you've you've been to to the coast and back connecticut and back bridgeport baby uh i have no real idea of what connecticut is like i didn't really know what to expect either okay like going on the yukon campus uh our final day in connecticut it was like it's like i was going down to lampy and canicuck like i felt like i was in the ozarks maybe not hilly but just like very just rural really yes
Starting point is 00:09:47 job thanks really yukon is rural and so yeah i wasn't like necessarily expecting it to be super urban but i was just like i just didn't expect it to be like so hillbilly where is yukon what what city is that stores stores okay yeah looked it up right beforehand. Just so I can be like, Storrs, how we doing? Yeah. You gone. First time in Storrs. Okay. Always wanted to come here. So you were on campus when you performed? Okay. The Jorgensen Theater. Oh, yeah. Of course. Yeah. Jorgensen Storrs.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Jorgensen Storrs. 2,200 capacity. 100 people in the audience because of COVID. Yo. Yeah. Okay. Not great, but we knew that beforehand. So it wasn't like we get out there like whoa where is everybody yeah like we knew it was gonna be empty and it was yeah it was fun though like you know right off the bat i mean just oh i want i wish everyone could experience what's that like to say a joke and then just hear nothing like it's crazy it just keeps happening
Starting point is 00:10:42 to me like once every few months and that probably would happen more if like if you got 500 people yeah it's not gonna happen very often but 100 people no matter how funny the guy is sometimes you just don't laugh and that's okay like yeah and that's the thing like we had just gotten done with six sold out shows the three days beforehand i'm doing the same stuff that has been like erupting audiences you know and there's like man i swear this is funny guys seriously but you know right off the bat you know i'm saying jokes it's pretty quiet but i'm like you know do we have some trade candy fans in the audience you know this year okay right on that makes sense cool i just had a curiosity i don't know why i asked this i never asked this
Starting point is 00:11:18 but i was like just out of curiosity do we have anyone who doesn't know who trey kennedy is one hand gets raised it's a kid front and center by himself. They socially distance like crazy. So he has the entire front row to himself and this massive theater just, yeah, right there. Me. I'm like, are you serious? He's like, yeah. I was like, what? Why are you here? I'm sorry. I'm just confused. And he's like, it's free show. I was like, oh, right on. Yeah. Good for you, man. Yeah. Not a lot going on in stores tonight. Just, just trying to find something to do. Yeah oh so were they mostly students yeah it was all you can see it was like the student activities council at yukon you know paid trey to come out so that they can do a free show and offer something to the students so heck yeah yeah that was kind of
Starting point is 00:11:58 funny we just picked on that kid a lot yeah right you know just like this guy no oh you don't know what i'm talking about yeah go home and watch the videos i bet that'd be so hard not to acknowledge like okay no one laughed at this joke like is it hard not to like like embrace that a little bit of like to me it seems like admitting defeat so i'm not tempted to like acknowledge the silence i just feel like it's it's for me it's like okay it's less awkward if I acknowledge it than if I just keep going. That's also a good point. You know?
Starting point is 00:12:27 And so that's why I would just be like, Oh, okay. That one didn't work. I don't know. Something like that. But then also it makes your credibility seem bad for the rest of it. Like you have to acknowledge it without losing confidence. So just be like, man, you guys are rowdy tonight. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Right. Right. But then, but then you don't want people to be like, okay, now I got a fake laugh. Yeah. Well, okay. Whenever you said it's a hundred people, a that's rough. B the fact that you said they were so socially distanced. I think that makes a huge difference too, because, um, I'm trying to remember. Oh, it's at the, it's at like KU games and stuff where you're socially distant. It's
Starting point is 00:12:59 harder to be loud in a crowd whenever people know exactly who the loudness is coming from. Like, yeah, like, like, uh, like I want to yell for KU, uh, come on. But like, if I say something, everyone's going to look back and know exactly who said it, you know? Whereas like, if it's a big crowd of people, you might yell something. Somebody might look back, but they don't know out of the 15 people back there. And so if somebody like is laughing and you don't think it's very funny, you're like, why is this guy back here laughing? It's similar to group think, but it's group laugh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:27 You don't experience group laugh. Yeah. There's just something about the energy of numbers and it's, it's hopefully, you know, going to come back. I don't know. Eventually for you guys.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Yeah. I mean, that'll probably be our last show like that. No more live streams, no more empty theaters, you know, so especially when it's such a big theater. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Why did they do that? Yeah. I think it's such a big space. Surely they could have had more people too do you think they capped it they hit up trey like six or seven months ago and i asked him to do it and i think at the time it was like a thousand kids were going to come and then they knocked it down like in november like hey we can have 400 kids come okay and then that didn't work out and now they're like we're capping it at 100 kids so like he got paid the same I'm assuming but it was just like a less fun experience but they came back and said it was a good time but the first first three shows Bridgeport awesome yeah first three days were double headers they were
Starting point is 00:14:19 fun give me some ideas of what I can think about in Bridgeport Connecticut what what what do you see when you go to Bridgeport Connecticut there's There's still snow on the ground. Okay. It's freaking cold. It sucks. I didn't bring enough clothing. Um, we never really found the nice part of Connecticut. Sorry, Jamie, Connecticutians out there. Yeah. Because I know there are nice parts. That's my stereotype is like really rich version of like New Yorkers. Exactly. I think a lot of people, yeah. who make their money in New York, but they live, they take the train or whatever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:49 They buy real estate in Connecticut, but we did not find those parts. We stayed in an Airbnb in New Haven. Okay. Which once I put it on my farmhouse one, the rustic one. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Joining gains in Thomas Jefferson's house.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Yeah. It's right off the campus of Yale. So we were like kind of excited, like cool. But then once I put on my story, everyone's like, oh, you're staying in Guns Wave in New Haven. I'm like, oh, is that a nickname you made up? No, that's pretty well known. Oh, wow. Okay, cool.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Guns Wave in New Haven. Okay. And it kind of checked out. Like seriously, once you leave the campus of Yale, it's like, it's kind of rough. But I worked that into my set. So that was fun. Yeah. I would poke fun of New Haven because most people knew about it.
Starting point is 00:15:23 And dude, you would just see stuff every night. Like one night, we legitimately saw a drag race happening on the street. Like we're just driving down the opposite way of the street. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:15:34 there's four cars, like four wide. It looks like the Indianapolis 500 or something. Yeah. But they're all stationary. And we're like, what are we looking at
Starting point is 00:15:41 as we're driving past them? I'm like, I think they're about to drag race. I've never seen this in real life. You got girl you got ludicrous and paul walker some girl in a skirt yeah let's go boys so that was interesting so yeah just like we would see something every night and it was uh yeah that's not my that's not my stereotype of connecticut at all no it was okay it was interesting but we drove around yale a little bit that was cool we would just be at a stoplight and you look to your right there's just like a castle
Starting point is 00:16:08 with like 500 year old like locks and chains on the doors like is that their classroom like do they have to like take this old you know two foot long key to get into their classroom maybe like obviously they're smart enough to do it yeah their classrooms are just castles really it was kind of cool to just look at buildings, wow, this is like 450 years old or something. Right. And you guys just go take microeconomics. Yeah. It's like that place is a dump.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Like that place is not heat controlled at all. It's so cold in the winter. But we had a Ghost Hunters patron in the house one night. Yeah? Hannah. Shout out, Hannah. Shout out, Hannah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Drove two hours. Seriously? She brought her brothers and they were in the house so i went out and snapped a pic with her and got to meet her so thanks for coming hannah that's fun yeah uh last two other just last things i'll say about connecticut then we'll wrap up that little segment one was i mentioned before the last run of shows train i ran into some bad luck when we call one but up on the stage we say what do you do for a living yes you know we had i think i teach deaf children i work the special olympics just stuff where it's like i really don't want to make punch lines about this uh new one very
Starting point is 00:17:13 first night first show terry terry what do you do not a whole lot i got laid off okay terry well i'm glad you could afford to come out to the show tonight oh yeah and you made her say that in front of everybody okay maybe don't raise your hand to come on stage get out the way terry bang it up terry but terry had a good time i think i posted on my story about this but uh oh yeah this is the girl had a real good time on stage sure I uh was in front of her got done with my part of the song she gave me quite the spanking on the behind I was like oh Terry you know you're you're a rascal whatever and then okay now this show's finally over I'm like putting my microphone on the stand so i'm in front of her again now i get the two-hand spank comboed with hug from behind kiss on the cheek while while
Starting point is 00:18:10 spanking no was it more of a was it more of a grab or spank no it's just like a a combination move like she hit like xx circle r2 you know whatever like spank reach around kiss whoa is a good move okay so from laid off terry when she gave you the two two hands spanking was that buns waving new haven bun shaking oh wow yeah so double spanked double hands on the last one and then a little kiss so yeah didn't get that um didn't get any other kisses the rest of the weekend but is that okay with you or it is okay i did get some offers though yeah you'll like this brad uh girl said hey you know love the part where he said you're in new haven actually live there too this is a dm there's a dm a girl sent me afterwards she said new haven is actually
Starting point is 00:18:53 the pizza capital of the u.s which i had heard that uh i think like dave portnoy's barstool pizza reviews like he says he claims like new haven's the best spot to get pizza so i'm like cool so still the same message not sure if you know but new haven's like's the best spot to get pizza. So I'm like, oh, wow. So still the same message. Not sure if you know, but New Haven's got the best pizza in the world. I was thinking maybe later tonight we go get some drinks. You get a piece of this booty. Oh, oh, hey, double tap. You know what I'm saying? Pun shaken.
Starting point is 00:19:17 That gets your attention. So I did, and we're engaged. So yeah, no, I was scared to death. Yeah. I don't know what to do yeah no thanks no trey come with me yes chaperone what kind of drinks like milk yeah dr pepper what were you thinking yo uh skim or hole what kind of crazy girl are you so anyway that was that was connecticut in a couple nutshells yeah do you feel how do you feel about like the performance not not not necessarily like the content i'm sure the content was good but like you feel more and more comfortable up there you
Starting point is 00:19:55 feel like it's becoming natural it wasn't one of those things where it's like good to flex flex some muscles with it yeah thanks for asking dude it was uh yeah it was really fun i had a friend text me a couple days ago actually and she was like what was like your favorite part of like this leg of shows and uh i said i think just my my favorite part it's not just like one moment but just like i i'm seeing my confidence grow every time and like i'm really comfortable on stage now yeah you know i'm still very new at this you know got about 20 25 shows in me total but just yeah just feel so comfortable up there. And like comfortable enough to just enjoy it. Yeah. Like I'm still a little nervous each time.
Starting point is 00:20:28 I still have trouble like eating dinner before each show, but it's like, once I get on stage, it's like, wow, this is fun. I'm really thankful for this opportunity. Like I'm just having fun with the audience. So good. Yeah. Each time it's just like a cool opportunity to keep, just keep getting more confident in something that's fun to do. So next is Phoenix, Phoenix, early, early April. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:48 And after that, maybe Spokane, we're not sure it's not locked in Spokaneans out there. Don't get too excited. That's so random. Like the places are like, it's okay. Like all these places,
Starting point is 00:20:58 they have no, no, uh, what's the word preconceived notion of. Yeah, it was, it was kind of a cool, I don't know if I talked about this or not.
Starting point is 00:21:04 A surreal moment for Trey and I about a month ago. We were like, yeah, let's go to some random cities leading up to the tour to stay fresh. And so we looked at a map and we're like, all right, here's where we're going on tour in the fall. All these cities. Are there any places in the United States we aren't hitting? And it's like, whoa, think about what we're doing right now. I even paused. I was like, Trey, look like we are trying to find places in the United States that we're not going. Like, this is crazy that we're doing right now i even paused i was like tree look like we are trying to find places in the united states that we're not going like this is crazy that we're doing this
Starting point is 00:21:28 and yeah one of them was connecticut and they're like yeah like four hours outside of seattle we're not going to we could go there yeah right so yeah that was definitely a cool moment that's awesome yeah you're you're hitting it baby what about you what'd you do this weekend i did comedy shows as well in connecticut yes what i do this weekend i'm sure i did things i just i don't remember what they are when was oklahoma and back that was friday gotcha thursday no you played pickleball friday i was bummed i played pickleball on friday i was so bummed dude it was good times i i performed pretty admirably um but you did for for not playing since the last time we played in that indoor court. That was a long time ago.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Remember that? When was that? I'll say it. It was right after you had a date. You came from a date. It was like the Northland Racquetball Club. It was you, me, Scott, and Isaac. It was on a Saturday.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Oh, yeah. I remember Scott had to leave because he's like, yeah, I'm supposed to set up for my daughter's birthday party. And he kept being like, I can play for one more hour i can play for like 30 more minutes he's like taking calls on his apple watch right saying no no we're like we're fine it's it's a kid's party why don't you be an hour and a half early to a three-year-old's birthday party it's gonna take like five minutes to clean yeah it's just your parents and my parents i forgot about that that's a good memory.
Starting point is 00:22:46 It is like Scott was also really mad. We like rented these courts, these indoor courts. Cause it was our first time ever going there. October, November, something like that. And Scott had called him.
Starting point is 00:22:54 He's like, yeah, you know, they told us like, it's going to cost this much for two hours. And so we get there and they don't have a net set up for us. And Scott, no lines. He said,
Starting point is 00:23:04 you got to bring your own tape for lines and so not only did isaac i think paid for like you know fifteen dollars worth of like this painter's tape uh they didn't have a net set up for us and scott the whole time we were setting up he's like if they count this as part of our time i'm going to talk to them and get so frustrated like and i understand i was like i understand you're right but but like the passion that he had towards it was like no way so all that to say dang who did i take out that day i remember that it was a longer day i think yeah yeah it went longer and i guess clearly didn't what didn't you know we're like um correlate to more dates but but it did go, ah, who was that? All right. I'll,
Starting point is 00:23:46 I'll think about that later. But, uh, anyway, so hadn't played pickleball in a while and I played pretty admirably out of, out of all the people that we, that, that played, you know, we did like the, uh, four person, everyone is on everybody's team. I won the most games. Let's go, baby. And Scott was there. So did you, did you like remind them, like, don't, don't speed it up to big daddy. Yeah, don't hit it hard. Yeah, that's my specialty. Scott one time even said, he's like, oh, I can't believe that he tried to hit it hard right there on Big Daddy. Yeah, it's like the thing.
Starting point is 00:24:14 I'm trying to think of. You, Scott, Harrison, and who's fourth? Gunner. Right on. Yeah, it was fun. So it was a good time. Yeah. How'd Harrison do?
Starting point is 00:24:23 He did fine. He's a lefty. Yeah. How'd Harrison do? He's, he's, he did fine. He's a lefty. Yeah. Sometimes he'll make like some insane thing. Insane stuff happens. Some insane plays. But other times it's like he will just, I mean,
Starting point is 00:24:32 same with me. It just like accidentally hits one too far, too hard or something. It's like, Oh, that was an easy point for the other team. You play a sport every four months. Right.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Not gonna be that consistent. That's understandable. But, but yeah, I got the itch, man. I'm like, let's,
Starting point is 00:24:44 let's do this some more. I miss this so let's get back at it um i just thought of something random about scott complaining about like the time you've been proud of me this week i went brad mode it was like 8 55 oh i'm so curious what brad mode means oh it's put in brad mode uh gas station said they close at nine oh yeah it gets gas i run in oh we're closed a gas station connecticut's the worst yeah and i was so hungry oh it was after the yukon show um and a college a college town's gas station closes at nine o'clock apparently i don't like yukon anymore either boo huskies yeah and she's like no we're closed and what did i i think i like pointed at the sign i was like five more minutes she's like no you know just like give me like this sign no no we're not so like i knock on the door and then i show her my phone like 8 55 8 55 yeah how hard
Starting point is 00:25:38 is this and then she like comes to the oh sorry headphones are bugging out she comes to the, oh, sorry, headphones are bugging out. She comes to the door and then is like trying to talk to me, but she's got her mask on. And so I can't even read lips. Can't hear what she's saying at all. So I'm just like, I just want like a couple of things. And then she let me in. Okay. It was great. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:56 However, was not nice. Dropped an F-bomb on me and said, you better be effing fast because the register closes in four minutes. Whoa. I was like, okay. So then I was scared. I bought things that I'd never buy. Lemon head?
Starting point is 00:26:12 I'm allergic to beef jerky. I don't even have a dispenser for this, Pez. Why am I kidding it? But nine packets of gum. What is this going to do? 50 packets of ketchup. Oh, yeah. I just bought things I didn't buy i don't really buy
Starting point is 00:26:26 and um combos and funyuns yeah and it just i was scared what'd you buy it was just like chips that i was like just like some flavor i'd never had before like you know i don't know why i bought this i just like grabbed it you're so flustered and then what what drink did i get i mean something weird something weird that i was like immediately disappointed myself in. You know, afterwards, I was like, why did I get this? Muscle milk. Yeah. Or Bai, B-A-I, that stuff.
Starting point is 00:26:52 You ever had that? Yeah, what is that? I don't know. I think it's like some juice. Super food juice. Yeah. No one's ever had it, I don't think. No.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Not very many people. But I did get what I wanted. That's the Northeastern, man. You better be quick. I did get what I wanted. That's the Northeastern, man. That there's, yeah, you better be quick. Yeah. I told her, you know, I really got the best of that situation. She felt my wrath. That's too good, man.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Well, I'm glad that you, that you went for it and that you were like, so it like, like this is where I need to eat. My food is for sure at this gas station. Like I'm so hungry and i need to eat here that's one thing that's difficult when trey and i travel i mean we just eat so differently right like he's very healthy he's like half the time doing intermittent fasting okay and i'm doing whatever the opposite of that is right i would just love to be snacking and eating all day or at least have something and so yeah so that is always tough like a burden to him like hey can we get some food please?
Starting point is 00:27:45 Yeah, definitely. It's 12 o'clock. Like I'm hungry for lunch. So like when we stopped for gas, like this is my time. Yeah. Like go get some stuff.
Starting point is 00:27:52 I'm going to be up late tonight. Yeah. And it's just the two of you this time. We had Alan as well, but not for, that was the last time you con you con said no music. We don't need music. So it's like,
Starting point is 00:28:01 dang, I think you would want it. Yeah. Cause most of these jokes, these like trace it as a lot of it's about like being uh like having middle schoolers or you know being a newlywed and you know stuff that's like or even gender reveal stuff that college students are not kind of like yeah love but the songs i'm like i really think they messed up they get that part yeah it was probably the guy in the front row that was booking all this stuff it was like yeah we don't need songs no no we're good he's probably not even that good of a
Starting point is 00:28:24 singer it's like no he's really good at singing i told you i was like i don't know if you'll ever want to do a college show again but in the future i was like i think it should be like do 10 minutes of stand-up do four songs and then do 30 minutes of q a because we did q a afterwards together and that went really well it was really fun and yeah you know people ask us uh what have you done in stores so far and we're like oh you know like we just got here just you know maybe the tour gets a theater like what is there to do and some guy goes i don't really know it's like oh you're asking because you don't know you're looking for things to do in this town he's asking anybody he's trying to get recommended he's really just asking the
Starting point is 00:28:59 audience like what have you guys done in stores what is there to do here i don't know can you help me does anyone know i'm free tomorrow i like baking yeah i mean collins hall room no um dairy bar i read about that is that cool is that fun should we go to the dairy bar sounds cool enough buns over new haven buns nevermind buns waving so yeah the q a was fun but um all i'll say glad you got to play pickleball yeah yeah that was good i'm trying to i i've been very busy and have done plenty of things i think they're just mostly kind of mediocre things i think i've just been hanging out with my kids i went to panera with hattie dadder days is back and in full swing let's go um trying to do that every saturday just kind of give katherine a break in the morning at least
Starting point is 00:29:48 what else i do i don't know i mean i just enjoyed the weather you're just kicking back in shorts and a t-shirt no doubt it's been awesome yeah it's been nice dude is there anything better like we're in the perfect like right now at least in kansas city we're in the week where you can like turn off your heater turn off your ac and just let it be. Just let it be, baby. We got about like two weeks of this, I think. And it is just, it's beautiful. Windows in the house open. But not at night when you sleep. I know, Catherine, the other night
Starting point is 00:30:13 when I walked into our room, the window was open. I was like, is this happening? Are you trying to leave? Yeah. No, I wasn't. But it was awesome for a little time being. No, it's the best.
Starting point is 00:30:24 I feel like this, yeah. March is such a wild card. You know, you know what to expect with January, February, you know what to expect with April, May,
Starting point is 00:30:30 but March, you're like, it might be awesome. It might be awful. Cold marches. Yeah. Right now we're having high pollen count marches. Dude,
Starting point is 00:30:37 I've been struggling with that. I've been feeling it. Really? Yeah. Like that's honestly been like my week's been a little bit of a struggle and I think it's because I've just not been feeling, I don't ever have allergies and I'm just feeling it right now oh but i googled pollen or maybe i just i don't know what i googled either allergies shawnee kansas or pollen shawnee
Starting point is 00:30:53 kansas and it said it was like medium to low and i was like crap because this is new for me i don't i don't think it's a cold i think it's genuinely allergies but it's it's a weird weird sensation yeah if it's if it's getting you on medium to low that's what i'm saying i was like think it's a cold. I think it's genuinely allergies, but it's, it's a weird, weird sensation. Yeah. If it's, if it's getting you on medium to low, that's what I'm saying. I was like, but it's been so windy. So I'm like, maybe it's a medium to low, but the wind brings out. It's like a windshield thing. You know, it's like the greenhouse effect.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Like, like it's like, yeah, it's only 50 degrees outside, but through this window, it's really burning down on you. Yeah. It's like a magnifying glass in the sun. Yeah. Or like a, you know, like a magnifying glass in the sun yeah or like a you know like a filling in a tooth yeah like a like like a shoelace in a shoe yeah am i understanding the analogy just anything that's ever been with something else like a straw in a
Starting point is 00:31:38 cup yes it's like that you take the wind you take the pollen you put it in the cup oh now i i'm having trouble breathing in the morning. Okay. Good to know. It's like that. Okay. Random thought about pooping. The other day I was at Home Depot going number one. I've been trying to drink a lot of water.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Oh, fun fact. I'm not going to brag and talk about this every single week, but I've decided to be healthy. Actually? Yeah. I'm going to lose some weight. I'm going to get healthier. Man, I have the desire, but no willpower. Oh, that's the hardest thing for me too, dude. So, so, but this time, if I, if I really say it on a podcast to a hundred thousand people, it's going to change. Tell me about the steps you've been taking.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Um, first step is that I started doing Noom. Have you heard of Noom? It's like the song. Ryan Zombey. Noomah, Noomah, yeah. The real name of that song is actually Dragostadinte. Okay. By Ozone, maybe? Yeah, that sounds right. That guy was awesome. Yeah. Yes. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:32:39 That was like pre-YouTube like viral. It was. Yeah, you had to get on like LiveLe leak to see it oh i watched on ebombs world i think yeah back in the day that one in the the end of the world ends of the world yeah classics anyway i'm on noom it's like this like healthy lifestyle app kind of thing cool so um and then like exercising more like eating better both i think i think both are good i'm one of the things. Yeah, definitely eating. I haven't been exercising a whole lot, to be honest, besides my natural woodworking exercise,
Starting point is 00:33:11 which is not that much, but standing up and walking around every day. But, um, no, it's mostly eating differently and eating better. And I decided starting Monday. So starting the time that you're listening to this, I am no longer drinking pop for the rest of 2021. Starting Monday, starting Monday. Holy cow. That's a big one. That's, that's a nice, that's a good step to take though. Yeah. So I think, cause I, that's like my biggest, like I've been eating better, but then I still drink pop like every day. And it's like, that probably isn't helping, you know? Yeah. So I remember just waking up on a Tuesday in quarantine and just decided to go for it. And it really wasn't that bad. Really? Yeah. Yeah. I did it for like years. I tell you that like my sister, French fries. No. Okay. It was pop. My sister bet me like,
Starting point is 00:33:54 Hey, if you don't drink pop for a year, I'll buy you a ticket to LA. Okay, cool. And I did. And then I didn't like, I didn't have a desire for it after that for like two years. And then I got back on the train. If you go a year without pop, I think you should go to Los Angeles. Okay. Just yourself. How fun. Oh, that actually sounds no offense to anybody else in my life, but it sounds so fun to go on a trip by myself.
Starting point is 00:34:15 I did that one time and it was great. Anyway. Okay. So all I'll just say, because of eating healthier, everything I've been trying to drink a lot more water. Nice. Been having to go potty more often. often was at Home Depot the other day. And I don't know if this ever happens to you when you go to a store, but like if I don't
Starting point is 00:34:30 know exactly what I'm looking for and I have even an inkling of having to go to the bathroom, once I have any struggle finding it, I'm like, I got to go to the bathroom right now. I haven't like, like I'll be going in for like screws, but I don't know exactly what kind of screw I need. I'm like in the screw aisle and I can't find it right away. And I'm like, I can't concentrate on this. I got to go to the bathroom. Huh? Interesting. It's, it's like Catherine, Catherine hates it. Cause like I'll come in and like, she'll be trying to tell me something. And if I'm, if I'm in the zone, I have like, I got to go to the bathroom and then we can talk about this. So anyway,
Starting point is 00:34:58 all this to say, I'm in the bathroom going potty and there's a guy going poopy and he gets, he gets done and he just comes out of the stall while I'm going to the bathroom. And I just think that's really weird in public. I think there should be like this unwritten code of like, Hey, if you're in the stall whenever, and especially for guys, maybe it's not as weird for girls. I just think it's so weird like to come out of the stall and be like, dude, I know you're just pooping that weird to you. Like you're you're that makes let me let me explain a little more. Maybe you're not just the idea that he is leaving the bathroom while you're still in
Starting point is 00:35:36 there. He's leaving the stall while you're still in there. Just the idea of like, I just I just saw somebody's face that I know just pooped. You think that's not right. Uncomfortable to me. Like, like, I just like I don't like that's not right. Uncomfortable to me. Like, like I just, like,
Starting point is 00:35:46 I don't like the idea of washing my hands next to that guy. You know, I want, I want him to respect and like, listen for it. It's like, okay, is there anybody in the urinals?
Starting point is 00:35:54 Nope. Okay. All right. It's my turn to come out of the bathroom. That does seem like that's the way kind of uncle Sam intended it to be. I think that's how he wants it. I think that's just like the general etiquette of the bathroom. And then I always also, if I am in the stall, always give a little sniffle or something
Starting point is 00:36:11 to make sure people know I'm in the stall. I'm a big stall sniffler. Yeah. Big stall sniffler. And also be a stall staller. Yeah. If you will. Hang on.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Wait till the coast is clear. I mean, play one more game of Candy Crush or whatever you're doing on your phone. It's fine. Yeah. So anyway, I just had that thought. So it was just like this guy, no, no, like what's the word? No qualms. No shame.
Starting point is 00:36:33 He had no shame. He was just coming out. Coming out and here he is. Yeah, I just pooped. I don't care. Might as well have a shirt on that says I just pooped in Home Depot. Pretty much. I'm like, dude, I'm going to see you later, you know, in the power tools aisle.
Starting point is 00:36:44 And I'm going to know. You just pooped. Yeah. Inot like come on so anyway random thought yeah no i i think uh just stay in there i mean number two is something that our society we don't really talk about we don't really pretend that it happens that much right so anything you could do to make it obvious that you do it i think it's bad right don't do that pretend that it never happens to anyone yes supermodels i know for a fact don't really they don't go to the bathroom okay yeah even the ones that have carrots yeah i don't think they do either good good for them but guys in home depot like yeah i know they probably do but i still don't want to see it i don't want to believe that it happens.
Starting point is 00:37:26 No, absolutely not. Before we get to further, guys, we're excited. We have a new sponsor of the show. Yeah. He's going to be a sponsor for a little bit now. So we're excited. And this is our friend. This isn't even kind of his season a little bit. This season of the pod has been all about Luke.
Starting point is 00:37:41 It's true. Maybe not all about Luke, but like we've talked about him a lot. Like, yeah, he's the guy who went down to Phoenix with stayed with his parents down there for the pickleball tournament, Mike and Nancy. And now, uh, now he's sponsoring the podcast. Let's say, let's say if you can think of at least four, the challenge, I bet there's at least four times we talked about Luke in the podcast. If you can think of all four of them, comment below. Yeah. Or if you can only think of a few collaborative group, think group, laugh a little bit on it. So I remember my first time ever mentioning Luke. Yeah. I remember there's multiple stories with Luke in him that
Starting point is 00:38:12 maybe we didn't even say Luke's name. I think we did though. I think so. So there's some good ones. There's one that's going to be hard to find, but the other ones are all recent. But anyway, Luke is a, uh, is a mortgage lender lender he works for prime lending and he's he's sponsoring the podcast and what's cool is uh before we get into all the details and why you should use luke uh first and foremost basically if you end up getting approved for a uh a home loan with luke uh you are going to get a 50 gift card to ghost runners merch heck yeah which is fun so it's not just like hey check out our friend he sponsored the pod it's like no you can actually get something out of this uh which is a
Starting point is 00:38:49 house slash 50 gift card to merch yeah and do we have merch right now no but hey by the time you know this happens we'll figure it out the process of buying a house is not one that you just do overnight so by the time that you yeah we'll be able to get that gift card. We will promise to have merch and some good ones. I have some good ideas. We brainstormed a little bit. Harrison, I think is going to be our designer potentially on some of these things. And so just need to make it happen. Yeah. Hopefully we get something popping by the end of the month. So, uh, that's, what's in it for you guys. And, uh, as far as Luke goes, you know, check them out. Owning a house could be a really smart investment. You know, your your monthly payments aren't all going down the drain, but, you know,
Starting point is 00:39:29 they're also building equity, you know, and something that goes up in value. You know, if you've been thinking about buying a home, this is this is your chance to, you know, make a living space your own. You can even get like a renovation loan, fix up any home or property you're thinking about buying. Make it your dream home, baby. So you're saying if you have a home, you should shop with Luke or work with Luke. If you need a home, you should work with Luke. That is what I'm saying. Because everyone needs to renovate in some way. Yeah. Everyone needs to buy a house. Yeah. I think like legitimately the listeners of just Jake on Patreon know like I am. We're going for it. Yeah. I'm like trying to look into this right now. Like literally as we speak, I'm in the process of getting pre-approved for a home loan with luke right now so i'm using him and
Starting point is 00:40:07 i've been doing a very good job or is he like kind of struggling i mean there's average and there's pretty much right where luke is at average no he's a bit amazing i mean literally i don't know anything i'm doing and luke is making it very simple and easy for me to understand you know i'm giving him the okay so if i was five years old and I had a lemonade stand, how do I buy a house? Right. And he's walking me through it. So Luke is a McLean's Monday regular. Um, and he does his work there a lot and man, he does, we can just tell like whenever, whenever somebody is a good guy and they do their work well, that's all that really matters. So we, we can fully endorse him both in character and in skill level. So check him out. Yeah, check him out.
Starting point is 00:40:46 He's he's got his own website, too, which is pretty cool. That is dope. Luke Hoagland dot com. I know the last name is a little tricky to spell, but it's in the description. All right. It's in the description below. Wherever you listen, YouTube, Spotify, Apple, Luke Hoagland dot com is his website to check him out, send him a little little message.
Starting point is 00:41:02 And yeah, if you end up getting approved for a loan, mention runners and uh you'll get uh some ghost runners merch for free let's spell it one more one time l-u-k-e yeah traditional luke spelling yeah hoagland is h-o-u-g-l-a-n-d yeah hoagland hoagland yeah check him out thanks luki luki baby. I don't know if I ever called him Lukey. Yeah, quick and secure withdrawals. Get more everything with FanDuel Sportsbook and Casino. Gambling problem? Call 1-866-531-2600. Visit connectsontario.ca. Starting point is 00:43:03 for burning a fire pit tonight. Fun fact. Whoa. He just texted me while we were, while we were recording. At the block, they're burning fire? Yeah, they're doing a little fire pit. Oh. It's like a, hey, like your sins are washed away.
Starting point is 00:43:15 I'm just kidding. Don't you love those analogies back at like summer camp and stuff? Dude, it's amazing how similar, like, I know you don't listen to Do Less Gas and Trey doesn't listen to Ghost Runners, but the same stuff gets brought up all the time. It's crazy. Well, nevermind. No, no. It's just, it really is amazing.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Like everyone keeps thinking that Trey stole like vibes from like you and Harrison. But like, I, I, I promise you guys, Trey had no idea that Brad on the podcast said, it's a vibes over here from the old colony house video. So, you know, like it's just a coincidence. This stuff happens all the time. But, uh, yeah, Trey was asking me like, you ever done that thing where i was like dude my sins have been everywhere i have thrown them in a fire i have nailed them to a cross i put them in a balloon and lifted them up to the sky you guys i got sins everywhere you guys got a 48 contiguous states map
Starting point is 00:43:58 out and you're like okay where where have our sins been where have our sins not been we could try to find a place maybe spok been four hours south of Seattle. Let's go there. You know, throw some rocks in a river. Yeah. Some kid in Alberta, Canada is going to have some balloon fall,
Starting point is 00:44:13 you know, a balloon. Yeah. What is this? Put the paint on the, on the thing. Yeah. But the paint was always kind of transparent.
Starting point is 00:44:19 So it was like, ah, I think she wrote down some pretty shady stuff. And this one just says mean to my dog. Okay just wrote down mean to my mom like yeah that was i remember at k west after our cross talk night you know one time we did one of those things and i'm pretty sure we were told to like look through some of them just to make sure there's no like uh serious ones really like self-harm or anything like you know i'm considering you know whatever like really really bad stuff and it was just funny just the i bet it's cute the wide range yeah some of you were just like i called my dog a bad name
Starting point is 00:44:53 right right it's like oh that's that's okay real i remember like whenever i forgot to brush my teeth whenever i first did that bible study with those boys who started out as sixth graders and now they're freshmen in college. But like when I first started, I was, I was hoping for like these like deep answers from them of like things they're going through. And they were just like,
Starting point is 00:45:12 you know, prayer requests for just like the most simple things like, Oh, I just need help with my test, you know, or just like, okay, yeah,
Starting point is 00:45:19 cool, cool, cool. Okay. All right. You sure? Like, you know,
Starting point is 00:45:23 you want to like connect on deeper level. Like, are you sure you're not struggling with anything like really deep and i mean the internet's pretty tempting yeah right you can have you can have access to anything on here they're like what do you mean i don't know ask your mom that's funny yeah like almost like revealing things they could get into that they don't even know about yeah what about drugs huh right i'm sure weed's pretty easy to get sure i mean what no like that guy over there said he would give us some did you not hear earlier you're speaking in code it's not even that expensive oh do you guys not know the
Starting point is 00:45:53 code words for weed okay so okay okay okay green kush mary jay um you know uh sticky icky uh there's a lot of things guys we'll just do next week's lesson on sure that good good that good good the hydrochronic uh brad you know what it's time for yes it's time no well jeffy a little bit i'm not gonna play more of it because you might get copyright shaked but uh we're gonna do a very brief uh version of jeopardy this week brad and um you are a contestant yeah and i am the guy i'm jake okay just you know r.i.p i know i can't really take a spot actually like was emotionally kind of sad about it really yeah i really like i've gotten really in jeopardy the last three or four years and alex trebek's the man yeah yeah so um okay just random okay so there's only let me just tell you the options there's only three categories on the earth no there's
Starting point is 00:46:51 only just three total things on the board one category okay the category is things heard in connecticut last weekend okay okay and the number values are 200 400 600 okay i'll take i'll take things in connecticut for 200 please jake awesome would you like to donate beef jerky to the troops what is things that the cuss word gas station attendant asked you at 8 58 p.m that's a great guess this was actually no no that's good though okay this was at the like an airport kiosk uh on my flight out from hartford connecticut i i didn't buy a beef jerky obviously i bought like a apple juice at a grillo bar yeah and uh sir would you like to um donate a beef jerky, obviously. I bought like an apple juice at a grill bar. And sir, would you like to donate any beef jerky to the troops today?
Starting point is 00:47:50 Huh? They need it? Did they specifically ask for this? Who's in charge of donating? Who needs beef jerky that bad? They got food over there, right? I think, I mean, I don't know. I would assume they're fine i think the u.s military's got a pretty decent budget yeah they can beef jerky to the troops i thought that was so funny i've never heard of that before like sure like there's got to be bigger things we could donate to i'll just give them money if you if they need money i feel like they i don't know yeah i'd rather give them ten dollars than just beef jerky if you're if you're a veteran out there or somebody who's even actively deployed or whatever like can you tell us if you need jerky really shed some light on this beef jerky issue we need to know yeah yeah no it's actually
Starting point is 00:48:34 like in high need for oh for all service yeah for all we know this is like really sensitive oh you actually probably don't mention beef jerky to the troops. It's a, it's like the one thing they can't get. Yeah. Unless somebody donates it. It's like, it's like this weird law. The Hartford Connecticut airport has been amazing for the beef jerky shortage in the middle East.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Right. So that was just a sentence I had, I'd never heard before. Would you like to donate some beef jerky to the troops? You're a, I don't know. Okay. What flavors?
Starting point is 00:49:05 Okay. I'll take... I'll take Things Heard in Connecticut for 400. Is one of these a Daily Double, by the way? Who knows? I don't have the music queued up, so probably not. Answer. There's so much water in here, I could take a shower. What is...
Starting point is 00:49:22 Things that Ty said to a guy that came out of the urinal while or of the stall while he was going potty once again great guess uh correct answer we're looking for is what is things that the pilot said to me as I was leaving the airplane? Wait, there's so much water here. I could take a shower. He was talking to like the, one of the flight attendants. And actually now I'm thinking, I think he might've said there's so much water in the cockpit. I could take a shower. Okay. Actually, no, I think he said in here. Cause it made me think like, is an airplane like a boat where it can just like take on water and you have to like drain it. What do you mean i don't know i was just like well we've been flying through the
Starting point is 00:50:09 clouds like is there just like residual condensation that gets like in the plane somehow dude i i don't think so but i don't know either surely not oh there's so much water in here that i could take a shower he was like kind of complaining. Like, yeah, we gotta figure this out. There's so much water in here. What? So, can you get water in airplanes? If you're a pilot of a commercial aircraft out there, leave us a voicemail. I'll tell you who we need. We need Sven. Remember him from a couple
Starting point is 00:50:35 episodes? He's a pilot and he was in Afghanistan. He couldn't answer the beef jerky and the shower water question. Dang, really? Dang, I need to see Sven. See Sven. I need to see Sven. Oh, wow. Okay. So that was also a very unique sentence I'd never heard before in my life. You're like, let me write that one down for my notes. Yeah, these have within 30 minutes of each other.
Starting point is 00:50:52 It's like, this is crazy. Hartford's awesome. Yeah, really. So much water in here. Okay, and the final one. I'll take it for 600. I'll finish out the category. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Let's go to finish it off. Answer. Complete silence. Oh. What is... out the category let's go to finish it off answer complete silence oh what is um what happened when jake tried to make a joke about joe biden you're closer with this guess closer uh correct answer is what is the introduction jake got when he walked onto the stage at the yukon show really oh no like already introduced you what who introduced you no nothing that's what i'm saying like there was no introduction so i'm backstage talking to this guy we're already kind of talking like he gets it he's like you know sorry there's only 100 out there like you know we just say give your best man we're happy you guys are here. All right. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Yeah. No, I feel good. I'm still confident. I know it's not going to be great, but like, it'll be fine. And I'm like, I'm good to go. Like whenever he's like, all right. Yeah. Just go and walk on out there.
Starting point is 00:51:54 Okay. And you know, he's like the backstage guy. He's got like the headphones with the, like the microphone. He's talking to someone, some eye in the sky somewhere, you know, like there's another guy somewhere queuing something. Oh, I don't know why else you'd have a headset on all right just going out there whenever i'm like right right now was there music or anything going no it was so rough and this is a theater so it's not like oh i walk out boom on the stage it's like 25 30 feet to the microphone
Starting point is 00:52:21 how we do it yeah hold on let me get to the microphone yeah and we do it? Yeah. Hold on. Let me get to the microphone. Yeah. And then you get there and it's still somehow not on like, like, come on. You saw this coming from a mile away. Sound guy. Oh yeah. So I had to do like the, Oh,
Starting point is 00:52:34 like when you start walking across the intersection and then you notice like there's kind of these cars about to go, you'd be like, Oh, let's kind of do the half jog thing. Let's skip through this. I like half jogged all the way to the microphone. Just complete silence. Goodness. It was a good time. And they were like, okay, half-jogged all the way to the microphone. Just complete silence.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Oh my goodness. It was a good time. And they were like, okay, this guy's going to introduce the first guy probably. And they're like, no, I am the guy. Oh, such a brutal start because yeah, I'm sure they'd all been advertised. Trey Kennedy is coming to University of Connecticut. Come out and see him. Right.
Starting point is 00:52:58 And then like no introduction to some guy comes out. You're not Trey. But probably, yeah, expecting, like you said, like, okay, this is the guy who's just getting introduced to Trey. Oh, now he's doing like a 12 minute comedy set. Yeah. Oh, this is weird. You're like, oh, this guy's supposed to be.
Starting point is 00:53:11 Oh, I think he's actually trying to be funny. Like, yeah, that would be weird. Like they don't even know I'm doing stand up comedy for three or four minutes. Sure. He's like, maybe that story didn't really happen to him. He just made this joke up. That's funny. Okay. So that was jeopardy okay thank you i liked the jeopardy can we do that more often yeah if yeah just like take notes of things you heard throughout the week and then make it into
Starting point is 00:53:35 a game show and just try to figure out where it came from either wheel of fortune or something you know wheel of dude you ever seen the movie rain man no actually and i want to it's it's i'm not never you know website yeah it's on netflix now i with the office off netflix i don't know what to watch when i'm eating my meals it's sad i just throw something up every day and i just watch it 20 minutes at a time is anybody out there watching peacock does anybody have that is even peacock or is netflix and peacock just like we made a huge mistake we're coming back yeah what's it gonna take because the office with you yeah i don't know if this is true or not but it felt like everyone watches the office on netflix it felt like it it feels like they were making so much money off of that mutually to the point where
Starting point is 00:54:14 nbc was like let's let's do something anyway sorry go ahead rain man no you're good why don't even oh it's a good movie i've seen it back in the day when I was growing up. But now it's on Netflix. I'm like, I'm going to watch this again. And yeah, it's pretty funny. It's a good movie. Are you aware of the premise a little bit? Yeah, is he autistic?
Starting point is 00:54:31 Yeah. But he's like super like. He's also a savant. Good with numbers and everything. 376. Something like that. Yeah. 246 toothpicks.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Yeah. Yeah. So I think you'd like it. It's a good movie. What does it have to do with? Oh, Wheel of Fortune. Yeah, it's a deep cut. Deep track.
Starting point is 00:54:44 He just. His life, Dustin Hoffman, the autistic savant in the movie, his life is ruled by routine. Just like he watches. Ruled, ruled by routine. Ah, ruled. Ruled. You know, he watches Judge Wapner,
Starting point is 00:54:57 The People's Court, every day at 3 p.m. Okay. And, you know, if that doesn't happen, he freaks out. On Wednesday, he eats fish sticks. Okay. But he also, like, has the entire introduction to wheel of fortune memorized so he's always in like wheel of fortune the amazing wheel where you can win you know and like it goes on this whole thing
Starting point is 00:55:13 with pat sajak and vano white okay tons of prizes and uh that was it that's just i want to watch that and i want to i want to watch i love that like era of movies it's classic i know tom cruise has like a kind of a mullet really yeah it's a baggy like you know slacks on it's a good 90s yeah early to mid 90s somewhere in there i also uh heard about a movie that i'd never seen before called donnie brasco you heard of that one is that it seems like a remake of donnie darko uh it's not it's uh it's al pacino and oh gosh johnny depp and never heard of it's this fino and, oh gosh, Johnny Depp. And it's this FBI agent that goes undercover and like becomes part of the mob. And it's like a true story. I want to watch it.
Starting point is 00:55:50 Cool. So if anybody wants to watch it with me, mostly Jake, but I want to watch it. Doesn't that sound good? I don't think Catherine would like it. So if anybody wants to watch it with me, almost anything based on a true story is exciting,
Starting point is 00:56:01 especially with the mob and the FBI. Yeah. So anyway, um, cool, cool anyway um cool cool cool i sent you a video can we watch that oh elvedale uh just another another just any kind of church humor to me is hilarious because i guarantee you church humor happens all the time but people are like too nice or like don't record it but i guarantee you like every single church has church every single week and so therefore there's got to be hilarious things that happen all the time. So anyway, somebody, I think, I don't know how I saw this, but it was like, this was a perfect, it was like, uh, one of my
Starting point is 00:56:32 pastor friends was like, this is literally my worst nightmare. So great. Did you see, sorry, just speaking to church here real quick. Do you see what I posted on my close friends for last night? Do you have to watch that? Joe Sanagato was doing, you know, there's like some of my quiz. Dude, it was so funny. Yes, that was really funny. How many, what did he say? How many baskets did Jesus feed the 5,000 with? Right. I'm going to go with zero.
Starting point is 00:56:51 He never makes a mistake. Never has a, oh, 12. Yeah. Okay. The way he corrected his mistake was really funny. Yeah. It's funny, guy. Okay, let's watch this video of a pastor in a church.
Starting point is 00:57:01 Before we begin, let's pray. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, our hearts are made ready to hear the truth, to be stimulated, to love you more. Wow, you even want to stimulate that prayer. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:17 He doubled down. Farts and stimulating. Before we begin, let's pray. Let's pray. Heavenly Father. Okay, in the video, you kind of see he tries to put his hand in a pocket Let's pray. The way he's like, let's pray. Let's pray. Heavenly farts. Okay. In the video, you kind of see like he tries to put his hand in a pocket and then he messes up. I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:57:31 I think maybe that's what like screws him up. Can you get the hand in the pocket? Oh, heavenly farts. I just love it, dude. Like I can't imagine being in that congregation. I don't know what I would do. Heavenly farts. Ah,
Starting point is 00:57:45 got him. Our father who fart in heaven. That's great. I, uh, I don't know. That's just funny. That's just funny.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Yeah. There's not much we have to say about it. It was just heavenly farts. Poor guy. Oh, this is a tick tock too. Nice. Oh really? Well, tick tock made it the YouTube video, whatever. Same thing. Heavenly farts poor guy oh this is a tiktok too nice oh really well tiktok made it the youtube video whatever same thing uh someone was gonna say oh i'm going to florida yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:58:14 saturday or i'm in florida now by the time this is coming out uh we're gonna be staying with luke hoagland's uh girlfriend's sister oh yeah eric bo Erin Boleyn. Yeah. And her husband. That's right. Down in West Palm. Okay. It'll be fun. Yeah, I got hired to be kind of just like the stage
Starting point is 00:58:31 funny guy. I really tried to get you, Brad. Yeah, yeah. I told you about it a few months ago. I was like, I'm going to try to get in there. That's okay, man.
Starting point is 00:58:38 We got someone, I think, in-house we can do to kind of be your co-host. Do you understand how not funny that guy is compared to my friend? Does he know about Santo Mac? I doubt it i doubt he knows santo mac santo mac would hit a little
Starting point is 00:58:50 too close to home to floridians in my little bit they'd be like that that's literally my uncle santo how do you know my uncle he lives on a yacht yeah but it ought to be fun it's like two or three days of uh just like youth conference stuff that i'll just be running programs for but they were nice enough they're like hey if you want to stay an extra day we've we'll book your flight later and we'll get you a free pass to universal studios yes and so i'm like sweet i've never been that'll be awesome but it just recently dawned on me there's been no mention of like and you know so and so can go with you or like you could bring a friend as of now i think it's just me and Universal Studios for a day. Just like, yeah, we got your free pass.
Starting point is 00:59:28 So just like have at it. Part of my initial reaction was like, that sounds awesome. And then the more I think about it, I'm like, you're going to look like a weirdo going on all these roller coasters by yourself. Yeah. But I bet you could like they have like those specific lines for like the single riders. Ooh. That's a pickup scene.
Starting point is 00:59:44 Of course. Yeah. In high school, they called her single rider. So rider so no but like i bet you can get to the front of the line quick maybe i wonder how busy it's it is right now i don't know florida i think i bet it's fine yeah you're right march no march is like hot in florida like good like busy hot yeah so go to Florida. I hear Universal Studios is awesome. You ever been? No. I've heard that I would like that more than Disney though.
Starting point is 01:00:09 That's what everyone says. Like, of course, Disney World is like Disney World. And so everyone thinks it's better. But Universal's like way cooler. They have like actual roller coasters, I think. That's their thing. Yeah. Disney's got the magic.
Starting point is 01:00:19 Right. Yeah, I guess. If you believe in that kind of thing. Cool. I left, last week I talked about how I bought that new fancy drone. Yeah. It came in super quickly and... How is it?
Starting point is 01:00:30 Garbage. What? I left my first negative review anywhere on the internet for something. Okay. It was mainly for the app. It has like a virtual flight simulator. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:38 And it's like, you know, this is brand new. I just spent $1,500 on this thing. So exciting. And then just the app doesn't work. It's just been such a nightmare to connect to things. I couldn't activate the device. It was like, I'm on the phone with customer service. Maybe try from a Windows computer.
Starting point is 01:00:51 Luckily, Isaac has like a Windows computer for his CNC machine. It's like, this is extremely fortunate, but also still weird that I have to do this. I've downloaded from there. The whole process takes forever. I finally get them all linked, connected, and then I get into the app and then the app doesn't work. And it's always just like, I'm leaving them a review. Yeah. I went two stars though. I went two stars. No, but sometimes it helps. Sometimes it helps establish
Starting point is 01:01:11 credibility. It's like, okay, this person is very upset, but it's not like so upset that they're just going to like trash. I'm completely. Yeah. That's what I was thinking. I love reading the two, three star reviews because those people are like critical, but realistic. That's what I was thinking for you. Yeah. My last sentence was like, hopefully this app has a lot of bug fixes soon. Yeah. Optimistic. Okay. So you're going to, you're going to stick around and like hope because it's like brand new technology, right? Yeah. And normally brand new variations to the technology. Yeah. Yeah. This is like super exciting. It's, it's basically like if the iPhone came out with a new, like, you know, whole piece of technology, like, Oh, now it's virtual reality iPhone. You get the first edition of it. It's like, Oh, it doesn't work yet. Right. It's basically like if the iPhone came out with a new like, you know, whole piece of technology like, oh, now it's virtual reality iPhone.
Starting point is 01:01:47 You get the first edition of it. It's like, oh, it doesn't work yet. Right. It's like, dang, what a lot. It's like they came out with it too quick. Yeah, a little bit. Huh. So that's a bummer.
Starting point is 01:01:54 So is it like the is the app crucial to use for the actual experience? If I was already like a pro pilot, then no. But it's like I, you know, i could still fly it as it is right now but i'm like there's no way i'm just like gonna take this thing and fly it without like doing the simulator first or practicing yeah so the app is the simulator like so it's like you can do it on the app and just like go fast and run into walls at an accident all you want yeah okay i was planning on not even flying this for weeks and just using this simulator because it's so intense huh but yeah i love how
Starting point is 01:02:25 the customer service person was like maybe try it on a windows it's like you realize how inconvenient that is and you don't even know that that's like for sure the solution yeah yeah if somebody doesn't have a windows computer it's very inconvenient to just find a windows computer to do this yeah i didn't like how cavalieri just mentioned oh you probably just want to try that on windows yeah like well fortunately i have access to one right It's covered in sawdust and I feel gross every time I touch a key, but Hey, I'm thankful that I have this. Right. Huh? So whatever. It's good. I just kind of gave up on it. I'm like, I got enough stuff going on. Yeah. Dude. How does anyone, how do you even, how do you have a wife? Like, how do you have a relationships like this week?
Starting point is 01:03:01 I don't know. Like how I'm glad I don't have a girlfriend. I think it's the motto of this week. I'm like, I don't know. Like how I'm glad I don't have a girlfriend. I think it's the, the, the motto of this week. I don't know how it's like such an up and down, like feeling for you. Like I'm ready to have a wife. I'm so glad. Yeah. Like, I don't know when I would have spoken to a woman dude this week. Real talk. Catherine kind of got frustrated with me this week because I hadn't like engaged in enough conversation with her. So it's tough sometimes it's hard. And like, like I just haven't been feeling great and I've been tired and like been kind of cranky cause I'm eating better. And so I don't have like nearly the amount of caffeine or sugar in my life. Your virtual simulator is not working.
Starting point is 01:03:35 Yeah. Just, just get it. Just open a windows. I, I can't, you don't let me, uh, no, but yeah, it's, it's true. Like sometimes it's just like really hard at the end of the day to be like, yeah. And it's like you come home after working so long and then like, yeah, you got to give your first fruits to your wife, you know? My wife. What kind of fruits are you talking about? I mean, bananas. Never mind. Anyway, it is. It's hard though. Yeah, we've had issues. Not issues. Anyway, it is.
Starting point is 01:04:05 It's hard though. Yeah, we've had issues. Not issues. That makes it sound so extreme. But like just conversations. Yeah. Like she got frustrated with me the other day. I was like, what's wrong?
Starting point is 01:04:14 I was like, I'm just tired. I'm sorry. She's just like, I just want you to, you know, just I don't know what she said. Just yeah, I want to be able to have a good conversation with you. Especially mealtimes right now is just like Hattie talks the entire time dude really it's awesome but it's ridiculous like you can't talk very much without her butting in and saying something so anyway just like i just did right there but it didn't for you no that's it's gonna sound lonely if i talk about it more it's gonna sound sad or something i'm fine it's just like this thought of
Starting point is 01:04:43 like wow i've had no time in my schedule to engage in like any kind of social conversations. So like, oh, this is, no, I'm glad I don't.
Starting point is 01:04:51 No, this is good. I'm glad I'm just me out here. I mean, you haven't even had conversations with Isaac though. Like, surely you've had some conversation
Starting point is 01:04:59 with somebody. Yeah, no, I've still talked to people. Because that's the thing, like when you're married, it's way less of an effort than if you're dating because you're living together. So it's like, you just happen to see people, no, I've still talked to people. Because that's the thing. When you're married, it's way less of an effort than if you're dating because you're living together. So it's like you just happen to see your wife.
Starting point is 01:05:11 You don't happen to see your girlfriend unless you try to. You know what I mean? Good point. Good point. But you'll get there. Thanks. Thanks. You're welcome, man.
Starting point is 01:05:19 Should we give some voice memos? Yes, please. We got some good ones. Hey, Jake and Brad. It's Anne-Marie from south dakota i'm 20 years old she wrote the veggie tales and i'm an accounting major in college sure in my free time i enjoy singing and reading and playing tennis and watching movies i am five nine i have brown curly hair and blue eyes i see where this is going and in short i am an excel girl looking
Starting point is 01:05:46 for a powerpoint boy and i think that isaac mcdonald maybe that boy so where's isaac you think that he would be interested in me hitting him up on instagram let me know and i would absolutely do that um we need more i love the pod thanks for all you do guys um yeah bye bye i would say brad's gonna be the one you're gonna talk to brad's the main uh wingman for isaac with ghost hunters listeners these days hey let me know if you guys need to talk to isaac at all um shauna shauna hit us up uh listener of the pod and was like hey uh she what did she say she wanted harrison first yeah and because she's 30 years old and harris is 30 years old or 29 and i was like oh harris actually got a got a girl got an interest whatever he's got a girlfriend and um she's like
Starting point is 01:06:39 oh bummer and then she's like wait isaac's six'3"? And I was like, oh my gosh, like you're just thirsty for Isaac? And I was like, he's 20 years old. Or maybe she said she's 20 years old. I was like, he's very mature 20. And she goes, yeah, let's do it. Give me his number. I did it. I can't believe you did.
Starting point is 01:06:59 I mean, what's going to happen, you know? So Isaac's like, dude, you gave that girl my number? Sure. So hit me up ann marie ann marie yeah isaac's number for everybody where did she say she lives south dakota oh it's really close yeah and fun fun to visit one of my buddies is like get the badlands bullish is that the right word for good yeah he's bullish on south dakota he's like he's like buy low sell high on south he's like ready low, sell high on South Dakota. He's like ready to move there tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:07:26 How come? I don't know. I think they're very conservative politics or something like that. I don't really know. Okay. And I think he just feels like, yeah, he's like,
Starting point is 01:07:35 Oh, that's, that's the place to be right now. I think he's like, kind of like anti crowds and anti people too. He's just a really fun guy. He's just like a libertarian. Just wants no government.
Starting point is 01:07:44 He just wants to like be out on his own. He loves the idea of just like being by himself he's like south dakota doesn't have very many people just get out there they let you do your own thing see anne marie every now and then yeah um and you said anne marie was when they wrote the vegetales jingle at the beginning so sure if it's the same anne marie which has got to be well one anne marie wrote it so sure you know who you are yeah Yeah. Thank you. So yeah. Thank you. Yeah. Ike is, he's ready to go. I mean, he's, he's looking for, he's been commenting on people's Tik Toks left and right.
Starting point is 01:08:11 He's in his prime years. Right. I say get him now before he has another concussion. Isaac. Well, I shouldn't speak for Isaac too much, but I feel like he's ready to get married sooner than later. Maybe sooner than me. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:22 I will definitely sooner than you at this point. I mean, the peaks and valleys you're going on. i said i don't want to tip no tip for me no i don't need beef jerky no that's fist bump though for the troops huh vertical portrait mode fist bump for the troops so i just i mean if she's in college i don't know i think isaac's like he needs older yeah i've been trying to tell him like, Hey, you're mature. Go after an older girl. Shot is available. FaceTime her back. Yeah. Oh,
Starting point is 01:08:49 good stuff. Hey, Jacob. My name is AJ Katagi and I'm a 14 year old from Denver, Colorado. I love the podcast. So I just became a patron at patreon.com slash ghost runners. Nice. Uh,
Starting point is 01:09:02 my question is for you is what should i tell people when they ask what aj stands for if it helps aj does stand for adam judah thank you what should i tell people oh by the way here's the answer for you i think you should tell him adam Judah, if that's the answer. I think that's one answer. I think you could say, uh, ah, geez. Ah, geez. Like what? Yeah. My parents thought I was going to be a girl. And when I came out, they said, they said, ah, geez, with a J they spelled differently. And, uh, they started to be kind of fun. They had this laugh and they ended up just going with AJ. Um, just oh geez when i was born i was like really tiny and squishy and so they thought i looked they're they're philosophy majors so they thought i looked like aristotle's jugular
Starting point is 01:09:52 so that's that's what they called me aj aristotle's jugular martinez um uh let's see what else aj um america's joint america's joint no he's from denver denver perfect perfect america's joint america's joints yeah my dad was a teensy bit high when he named me but that's okay america's joint america alaska juno alaska juno yeah um acidic juice that's what you told me her name is yeah so you ever heard of the ghost runners podcast um well my parents named me after a joke yeah i'm a patron yeah patreon.com slash ghost words i was thinking of alaska what did i say alaska juno okay so you're you're with trey and you're trying to figure out how to get to dairy bar and uh he's like hey do you know how to get dairy bar i know my phone's dead um oh that girl looks like she's local yeah i'll ask him do
Starting point is 01:10:51 you know how to get to dairy bar that's good that's pretty good i'll ask you took me a while to get there but no dang that's great i don't i don't want to try to find another capital and state i don't know if it's gonna work as well as that does okay dang alaska juno good luck was this real i love how he said his real name like it's really adam judah adam judah um what else could you say oh i think you told people your name is uh oh so funny enough uh you guys heard of priority actor um my name's adam driver um with a j so funny saying j-r-i-v-e-r what's it stand for and just like yeah have some word that doesn't really start with j it's adam george a.j you know adam george yeah yeah yeah j j-e-o-r-g-e
Starting point is 01:11:37 oh like adam jorge no no adam j-e-o-r-G-E. George. Yeah. It's the fancier spelling. Yeah. Also Jesus. Yeah, yeah, yeah. AJ. Thank you, Adam Judah. Let's see. Hey, fellas.
Starting point is 01:11:54 This is Micah coming back at you from the Mile High City. Bit of a weird story for you. America's joint. So I was watching hockey the other day, and one of the players ripped a one-timer to complete his hat trick. For those who may not know, a one-timer is when you shoot the puck immediately after getting a pass. It was a great shot, beautiful, right to the back of the net. That's how they score. Anyway, so I caught myself saying right after this, hit it one time for Big Daddy.
Starting point is 01:12:24 And I could just feel all eyes on me. I did nothing else after that. Couldn't remember what it was from, so I didn't want to bring it back up. As I laid there in bed thinking about this weird, embarrassing moment, I realized, wait, is that about Brad? Maybe. So, Brad, is this from you? I can't remember all roads lead me out big daddy that's great yes it's for me yeah yeah at the nino hit it one time uh you gotta tell the story
Starting point is 01:12:55 again okay yeah just a long story somewhat short uh we're playing blackjack and we're at the five dollar table so there's lots of people around us because there's not very many five dollar tables everyone's trying to get in. This was years ago too, by the way. Yeah, at least two or three years ago. With two kids, I would never go to the casino. Oh my gosh, no way. I'm way more responsible than that.
Starting point is 01:13:16 So we're playing and it's fairly serious, normal game. But casinos are fun. They're a fun time. So people are talking, whatever. But there's this one guy that's back there. And I, I always call, I always say he looked like the Asian Prince. Like he's like Asian looking like, but like mysterious, like dude, like kind of like crazy dress, kind of like Prince does. And like there was one time, I think, I forget what the exact number was, maybe like a 13. I had 13 of obviously you're going for 21
Starting point is 01:13:43 and blackjack. and so i'm like oh okay you know let's hit it let's hit it you know like kind of kind of not confident about it and out of nowhere this guy that had been so quiet the entire time just watching us from afar as asian prince just goes hit it one time for big daddy and he hit it and i got i forget like a 20 or 21 or something and from then on on that Asian Prince guy was so, so animated. So it's like talking the whole time. Like, come on, hit that. Okay. Over here. Oh, yeah. Oh, 21. Okay. You know, like double down, double down on that. He came alive. Yeah. It was hilarious. And, and he didn't know that I was, that I called myself big daddy at all before that.
Starting point is 01:14:22 Like, and I was like, Oh, this is amazing. So I don't know if I was that I called myself Big Daddy at all before that like I was like oh this is amazing so I don't know if I called myself Big Daddy before I definitely used the word like Daddy what's up so anyway so got it from Brad hit it one time for Big Daddy hockey one-timers I don't think you need any context though if it's a one-timer and you say hit it one time for Big Daddy that's great people are like that was a cool phrase man that's a sick phrase yeah right on all right thank you uh is that Micah yeah thank you Micah for the for the voice memo That's a sick phrase. Yeah, right on. All right. Thank you. Is that Micah? Yeah, thank you, Micah, for the voice memo. Double Denver's.
Starting point is 01:14:49 Yeah, double Denver's. Can we do three in a row? Hey, Jake and Brad. It's Claire checking back in to let you know how my first semester at BYU went. It was actually super fun. I got to go to some football and basketball games. And I played pickleball for the first time last weekend. Come on.. That was hype. And I've also made some really good friends. A couple months ago, me and my roommates were in quarantine and we made each other pros and cons lists. And even though it's
Starting point is 01:15:17 gotten a little out of hand, it's been super fun. So thanks for the inspiration. My question is, me and my friends are going on a road trip in a couple weeks to Joshua Tree for spring break. And I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what we should do on the drive because it's going to be a long one. I'm talking games. I'm talking. Good songs we should listen to. Anything. Okay.
Starting point is 01:15:41 I'm down for whatever. So let me know. Love the pod. Thanks for everything you guys do bye-bye just retreat california yeah and i don't get the appeal even though i've never been but it seems just like from what i could tell it seems like where people like where rich people go to do acid oh really that's my how rich tell me if i'm wrong how rich you clear yeah no not i mean there's other things to do there as well but it does just seem like a desert okay national park and i don't really get the allure huh okay yeah i don't know sorry claire was kind
Starting point is 01:16:16 of trashed on your trip that's fun i just i always hear about people going to joshua tree and i don't get it but i've also never been so i guess that's so they made a uh knock on it you too they have an album called joshua tree so maybe that's why people want to go there it's like we're big bono fans yeah claire just let me know how the lsd is when you get there um okay yeah oh lcd you're thinking of like movies and tv and stuff on it they have an air bb um uh what do you think jake as far as i've always wanted to take a road trip where i only use a paper map to get somewhere now i thought that would be fun now like a fun video concept yeah it's like using a paper map to road trip across the u.s so that's one option uh also road trips are just so fun for so many reasons i mean
Starting point is 01:17:01 i've taken a bunch of my lifetime but just the amount of uh like first stop go to like a pretty large gas station that they would have clothing and everyone buy an outfit from the gas station and wear it for a while that's fun make a uh i'm just trying to think of things that i've done road trip yeah make a um like an instagram account just for this road trip yeah those are fun i've done that like a ton back in the day. Jorts Go West, is that what it's called? Jorts Go North. Jorts Go North.
Starting point is 01:17:28 West Texas Walmart. West Texas Walmart. That was a good one. That was a good one, yeah. Yeah, get you some cowboy hats and just start driving. I think just general etiquette, as far as my personal just convictions go, I think if you're the Donna Jo,
Starting point is 01:17:43 if you're the Donna Jo, if you're the Donna Jo Tanner that's controlling the music, I think you need to always play the entire song, no matter what. Never stop a song halfway through. Don't crossfade either. I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 01:17:57 But I think that's just like a, if you're going on any road trip that's longer than two hours, just play the entire song no matter what because there's plenty of time. Now you have less songs to have to choose what to play like you don't get like too excited like oh i love this song let me play this song that that's that's killer for me yeah that's just a small thing um
Starting point is 01:18:14 i don't know i i love anything that can incorporate you being goofy to somebody that doesn't know you're being goofy like whether it's on the like as you're driving past somebody like trying to talk to them or trying to mess with them somehow that that's always fun to me those kind of that that humor is always just really good like going 70 miles an hour down the highway but trying to get them next to you roll the window down and just like having a conversation yeah yeah hey exactly that's funny yeah that's really funny to me and just like recording their reaction to that i mean mad lib is always a good time i can't wait for howattie to be old enough to do mad libs in the car oh she's gonna think they're hilarious nice man went to the tall building right oh it's gonna be great so do some mad libs do some sparkle sparkles a good time
Starting point is 01:18:56 sudoku sure crosswords some of them dokes so uh what else have a pet that you get during the road trip at some point have a pet definitely uh get to the airbnb a little bit earlier before your friends and hide the key and make a treasure map for them to find the key and then you go out to dinner and so really the treasure maps that dinner with you and then that's that's called the airbnb joshua tree prank that's a good one um yeah okay that's all i got oh my god uh have fun though claire and hope it's a good time dude i'm sorry i just got a text from my mom nice that said blank blank the the company used for our merch just sent us three shirts. What's up with that?
Starting point is 01:19:48 Oh, no. Did they send your parents shirts instead of my parents? Who knows? My parents already got their shirts, I think. Oh, my gosh. If they send to your parents instead of mine. Surely they would. They're not the same last name.
Starting point is 01:20:03 And yeah, I mean, nothing about it oh my gosh that's amazing if so that's so funny hey we um we know we screwed up so to bury the hatchet more shirts we want to give your parents yeah a couple extra long sleeve tees are we good now are we even that's so funny we gotta figure that out i know my goodness okay good stuff all right next voice memo i had a strange request um so i think really bad pictures is this the knack back yeah do you want me to give you some background yeah sure sure sure okay so knack our buddy nick nicholas butler baxter he uh texted me dm me whatever you want to call it yesterday and was just like, hey.
Starting point is 01:20:45 Oh, by the way, I have issues with the whole email versus DM thing that you talked about on Just Jake. Oh, really? Maybe a little bit. Not that much of one. You side with her? Kind of. Oh, I think it's so ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:20:55 Kind of. What's the difference? Email, DM, it's all the same. I'm like, no, it's not. These days, I think it is. I think I can do business over DM and make a $2,000 sale for a table the same way I can do it on email. But this is the whole reason we have words.
Starting point is 01:21:09 We have a dictionary because certain words have certain meaning. Like people do that to me all the time. Like, oh, I just texted you. I'm like, I don't see it. Like, oh, I sent it to you on Instagram. That ain't a text, shawty. That's a DM. Use the right words.
Starting point is 01:21:20 Okay. Okay. I'm passionate. I know. I like it. I like that. What was it? Oh, so knack Baxter DM to me yesterday did not text me. My gosh. Uh, even though it was a text message that came
Starting point is 01:21:31 through electronically on a messaging platform, but it wasn't I message. So therefore he DM to me. Um, and, um, he said, Hey, I'm taking pictures for med school tomorrow and I'm a really bad picture taker. Unless I have something funny like that makes me like genuinely laugh. Like if, if I can genuinely laugh while it's going on. Um, and I was like,
Starting point is 01:21:54 he's like, well, you just send me a funny joke. And I was like, okay, that's fun. So I sent him a voice memo and he didn't listen to it until right before. And I think he recorded this voice memo to like document his time.
Starting point is 01:22:04 Well, does he have two devices? He has like one phone just to record himself and then the other to play your, you got an iPad in his hands while he's taking his med school pictures? That'll be next. I'm curious to know that too. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 01:22:15 Nak, what was the second device? What was it? There was a second device. From inside the house. Yeah. Okay. This is fun. That's good context.
Starting point is 01:22:22 Okay. So this is him getting med school pictures. I have a strange request. So I take really bad pictures unless I'm laughing. So I had a friend send me like a joke over the internet. That's okay, I'll listen to it real quick. Okay. So bold.
Starting point is 01:22:37 At the peak moment. At the peak moment. Alright, alright. It's your boy Santo Mac. So now this girl. This is good. To make yourself smile a little bit okay Nicholas okay Nicky Nick
Starting point is 01:22:48 why didn't the number 4 want to go into the haunted house I feel it why didn't the number 4 want to go into the haunted house Nicky because he was too squared this is so good Because he was too squared. This is so good. Hey, why did the salad break up with the colander?
Starting point is 01:23:13 Because the relationship was too strenuous. I need somebody to do that for me. What do you call a standardized test that's only written? The SAT. It's a one. Dude, knowing the context of that is so funny. There's maybe a room full of people all listening to that voicemail hey whatever it takes to get the ghostwriter's name out there you know how'd you hear about the ghostwriters i was actually a professional photographer for a med school and uh yeah meme lord knack baxter walks in one day before you know he was working for Jimmy Fallon. Right.
Starting point is 01:23:45 And he was trying to do med school at the time. And yeah, anyway, he just played this voice memo of Brad as Santo Mac. Wow. That's awesome. Yeah, it was fun. And I love that he just said that voice memo in, I mean, like 20 minutes before we started recording. So good timing.
Starting point is 01:23:58 It was great timing. That's funny. Oh, that's funny. He sent us a picture too. Or did he send that to my DM? Do you know? I haven't seen a picture. We'll post it.
Starting point is 01:24:06 We'll post it for everybody on patreon.com. Oh, that's good. Thanks, Nicholas. Nikki. Hey, Jake and Brad. This is Kylie. I am from Columbia, Missouri. I am 17 years old and hopefully the future social media manager of Just Drinks.
Starting point is 01:24:21 Come on. I love your podcast so much and I look forward to it every Monday morning so I can listen to it at work. My first question for you guys is what is your favorite Starburst color? Like the ones that you always eat first. Mine is red, which is obviously the superior color. My second thing is, as I mentioned before, I work at Hy-Vee and it's a little boring sometimes. So I like to spice it up by saying random things such as happy birthday and giving my coworkers random gifts. Or saying when something goes wrong, saying this is a timeline that God has abandoned and we're all destined to die. You know, just something to spice things up, to throw them off their vibe.
Starting point is 01:24:54 I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for what I should say next just to put them off their game. If you give me a suggestion, I will video it and send it to you guys. And I'm excited to see what you guys come up with again i love the podcast and i can't wait to listen to more bye okay okay i like this um wow my first a lot yeah uh first of all starburst you like red i like red yeah i don't know i'm torn between red and pink i like them all but certainly certainly one of those two is the best. I love the alternate packs.
Starting point is 01:25:28 Like the... Alternate Skittles? Yes, the purple Skittles are my favorite. The purple package of Skittles all day. Like the pastel Skittles. Like Easter Skittles. Yes. Those are nice.
Starting point is 01:25:39 Uh-huh. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. Yep. Good job, Texas. I... Jake's going to have better answers than me, me so i'm just gonna answer first on this one um i i like the idea of just like very mediocre um positive things about your day so like just like out of nowhere like no context to the conversation that you're having
Starting point is 01:26:00 with somebody or just walk up somebody and be like, these are some good pants. That's it. Hey, these are some good pants. Or like, shirt's pretty soft today. Like not like, not like, not like raving about your shirt, but not like deprecating. Just like shirt's pretty soft. Just non sequiturs.
Starting point is 01:26:22 Boots feel pretty tight in a good way today. You know, like. In a good way. Yeah. like in a good way yeah nothing yeah nothing weird just like just like normal normal conversation i'm throwing off really where to go where to answer because her answer was extremely dark um but interesting timeline but fun yeah uh and then yours happy birthday sometimes she says happy birthday i think if it were me if i had like a job like that i would be playing games the whole time with my co-workers yeah like hey everyone put in five bucks whoever is like kind of helping someone or at least like nearby
Starting point is 01:26:57 gets the money we're gonna try to sell this like you know just any random product yeah it's like off-brand peanut butter yeah we're gonna convince someone by the end of the day to buy this like you know just any random product yeah it's like off-brand peanut butter yeah we're gonna convince someone by the end of the day to buy this off-brand peanut butter like that's the kind of stuff i would do just like make time go by faster and um and just be competing and all these different things that tv show superstore did something like that on an episode they're really they like each challenge like each each different person was like i'm the best salesman no i'm better and then they were like okay then try to sell this it's pretty funny but it was like really bad things so anyway what else would i do to mess with people it'd be fun i like
Starting point is 01:27:29 the idea sorry i'm interrupting you good you got one um like whenever you're saying like something with your co-workers it's almost like i like the idea of almost playing like either tag or hide and go seek or something with an object like where like if you that object, then you have to go put it somewhere else. And then if somebody else finds it, and so you could be restocking something or throughout the day, like you could be somewhere. And then all of a sudden you see little, you know,
Starting point is 01:27:54 alien from toy story and you have to pick that up and put it in the back of, you know, the honeycombs, you know, or whatever in the cereal aisle and somebody else has to find it later on. Yeah. It's kind of fun. Some spectacles to see the map.
Starting point is 01:28:05 Yeah. It's behind the honeycomb. Yeah. Anyway. I think you do some sort of elaborate prank. I don't know how elaborate it is. Just trying to figure this out right now. Where you tell Stacy.
Starting point is 01:28:21 Let's call her Stacy. Okay. You tell Stacy and say, Hey, you're're gonna have to trust me on this like you want to pull like a great prank on Ben okay and so you tell Stacy like hey um I want you to go up to Ben and ask him uh how our sister's uh high jump competition is just trust me it'll be like hilarious. All right, just trust me.
Starting point is 01:28:48 And then, but you tell Ben like, hey, here's what's going to happen. She's going to ask you about your sister's high jump competition. When Stacy asks Ben, Ben gets really sad and he goes, you know my sister doesn't have legs. Why would you say that?
Starting point is 01:29:04 Yeah. My sister. Double prank. Yeah, yeah you say that? Yeah. My sister prank. Yeah. Yeah. The double prank is always good. So there's super. Yeah. And like,
Starting point is 01:29:11 do it with Stacy's like a brand new hire. Yeah. Right. Like, like doesn't know much about being yet, like still trying to get in the group. And then, yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:19 Just prank the prankster. You learn this day. Ben's sister does have legs and it's a joke and everyone's friends, but Oh, Stacy does have family history of some removed limbs. So now you gotta, you gotta check the family history first. Yeah. Ben, Ben goes, Oh yeah. You know, my sister doesn't have legs. She's like, I'm so sorry. My dad grew up without arms or legs as well. And it was just really hard on us. I would love to sit down and talk prosthetics sometimes. Who are you guys using?
Starting point is 01:29:47 Yeah. You, Pastore, like we, we used to, you know, root for Pastoreus. And of course,
Starting point is 01:29:51 we don't need more. Still love the fugitive though. That's a good movie. Yeah. Right. Anyway. So yeah, something like that.
Starting point is 01:29:59 That's fun. I like the double break. Something like that. And I look forward to hiring you for just drink someday. So either do double prank or nice music, but good pants today those are the two options yeah yeah maybe just hype yourself up a lot yeah how come none of y'all compliment my hair today have you seen this yeah my hair y'all seen this my god you just go up to someone one day just like lift your sleeve up just like kind of flex your tricep like do that uncle rico is that what we would always do
Starting point is 01:30:23 he would always be like so what she look like, so what's she look like? That's what I remember. Are you guys seeing this? What's she look like? Man, these traps. Keep me out of the stock room. I'm not going to be able to fit through a door. Call me the Trap King, huh? See what Fetty Wap was talking about. That's right. I'm your Trap Queen. 1738, that's my Bench Max.
Starting point is 01:30:40 Okay, let's do one more. Hey guys, this is Lauren from Ohio, and I don't have a question, but's do one more. Hey, guys, this is Lauren from Ohio. And I don't have a question, but I do have a classic old man quote for you guys. Yes. So my dad is a pastor and has come across many unique old folks in his congregation. And there's one fellow in particular whose name was Francis Sabo, Sabo for short. And anytime my dad would come up to welcome him and put his hand on his shoulder
Starting point is 01:31:05 Sabo would say get your clean hand off my dirty shirt So I think you guys should definitely try to use that one sometime good old man It seriously throws everybody off guard when when you hear someone say that also fun fact my husband kyle and I ended up front row at Trey's show in Lexington, Kentucky. And Jake, we're the couple that had been married 15 years. And you asked if we were in a cult. I love the podcast. And you guys have a great day. I mean, she's a pastor's kid.
Starting point is 01:31:36 So practically. Wow. I can't believe she listens to the podcast now. That's really cool. That is cool. Yeah. So Trey's show. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:31:44 Who was up there first trey or jake yeah i remember asking yeah front center hey you guys married together whatever yeah married oh awesome how long you guys been married 15 years and they look like they were like 30 yeah you told us on the podcast oh did i yeah yeah they got married when they were super young yeah i was like you guys part of a cult? Yeah, something wrong? Oh, man. And now that's been pod. Blink once if you're, you know, in trouble. Do you want to be here? Yeah, do you need assistance? Good old man quote, though.
Starting point is 01:32:10 Thank you, Lauren. Yeah, minimum age that you can say that quote. 74. Yeah, at least. 74 minimum. I mean, can you imagine if some pastor comes up to you this week and you go, hey, man, get your clean hands off my dirty shirt. Everyone would be like, what?
Starting point is 01:32:28 That's really weird. No matter the delivery. No matter the delivery, you're weirdo. Good old man quote. Yeah, I like that one. I like that one a lot. I love the idea of any of them. I'm excited for it. Well, thanks Lauren. That's really cool. Thanks for all the voice memos you guys this week. Appreciate it. Someone here?
Starting point is 01:32:44 I thought. Isaac? Somebody's here. I don't know if they're gonna come down or not we got no no live studio audience today which is okay uh let's get into our reviews of the week five star reviews been getting a lot of them lately really appreciate it you guys the title of this review from EmilyPI15 says, when you're writing a five stars Apple podcast review on a Thursday prank. So thanks. That's nice. I like that.
Starting point is 01:33:12 She says, the only prank here is that instead of writing a review about... What? The only prank here is that instead of writing a review about writing a review on a Thursday, I'm here to write about how much this podcast means to me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I finally caught up in December and I've recently started listening at the beginning again because somehow you all have the ability to make a listener feel involved in a conversation and community they've never met before.
Starting point is 01:33:34 In all honesty, this is what I've turned to in times I felt loneliest over the past year and it means more than you could ever know. So thank you. It's very sweet. Emily PI 15. I really appreciate that. All right. Mine is coming from
Starting point is 01:33:47 Buttface Malone III. We did this one last week. I know. I didn't actually... Did you read it, though? You did? Yeah. No, you didn't.
Starting point is 01:33:54 Did you really? Because then we talked about... I was like, oh, yeah, I know him. We're like, Mr. Buttface Malone. Yeah, I knew his dad. You read it... I graduated college and moved to a small Texas town.
Starting point is 01:34:02 You read that? Wait. I think I just mentioned that there was a review that I hadn't read yet. Oh. Okay, never mind. Come on in. Who's here? We talked about you on the podcast.
Starting point is 01:34:16 Oh, it's Luke. Oh, what in the world? I thought that was Harrison. I called us your legs. I'm so thrown off. Dude, get in here. Also Isaac. Our advertiser, our sponsor, Luke, is here right now.
Starting point is 01:34:27 Come on down. Get down. The camera gets you. What's going on, guys? How's it going? This is our mortgage lender. This is the guy. This is the guy.
Starting point is 01:34:35 That's how good of a guy he is. Also, roommate Isaac is on FaceTime as well. Isaac, say hi. What's up, everybody? He's at Home Depot. Nice. You pooping in the aisles i don't think so no not so much um look what are you doing here i'm coming to get some uh scrap wood from isaac oh oh oh nice i wasn't enough huh well he's got more so we're

Starting point is 01:35:35 I think I was just like, oh, I hadn't even seen one about Butt-Faced Malone. You're like, yeah, I love his dad. Whatever. I graduate college and move to a small Texas town where I don't know anybody, but listening to this podcast feels like hanging out with my friends, and it makes me laugh.
Starting point is 01:35:49 I've been listening since day one, and by now a lot of my vocabulary comes from this show, and I forget that my youth students don't understand. Dot, dot, dot. Yet. Dot, dot, dot. I love the community these guys have created by being genuine, kind, and absolutely hilarious.
Starting point is 01:36:03 Wholesome and clean comedy is hard to come by these days, and I'm so thankful for Jake and Brad and their authenticity. So beware, there's no turning back once you've given them a listen. Thanks, Puff Face. Ooh, can you imagine somebody reading that and being like,
Starting point is 01:36:15 well, can't turn back. That doesn't sound good. Hmm. And they're like, not today. I wonder if we know. I'll wait till Monday to stop drinking pop. Do the troops need it? Because I'll donate it to them. I wonder if we wait till Monday to stop drinking pot. Uh, do the troops need it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:36:26 Cause I'll donate it to them. I wonder if we know this person, like if they were listening since day one, it was a good chance. We know I'm true. True. I don't. What's your name?
Starting point is 01:36:34 Yeah. Is butt face a family name? Yeah. I think I would remember. I think I would have met, you know, pretty good names, especially if it was a butt face.
Starting point is 01:36:42 Uh, Brad, would you like to end this episode with a jingle? Yeah. Uh, yeah. Let me pull it up. Who's this one by? Who do you think? I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 01:36:50 Anne-Marie? Heatherly? Heatherly! She just keeps bringing the heat, dude. She's bringing it. I'm always like, you know, I got other ones that I could potentially do, and then she's like, what about this one? Boom.
Starting point is 01:37:00 Okay, Heatherly, it's you. It's always you. It's always been you. It's always been you. You ready? Yeah. Three, Heather Lee, it's you. It's always you. It's always been you. It's always been you. You ready? Yeah. Three, two, one. My improv brings all the fans to the pod And they're like, it's better than yours
Starting point is 01:37:15 That's right, gonna rate five stars See me sing too But we have to charge Jace, dance moves Bring all the girls to the pod And they're like, wish he was ours That's right, gonna rate five stars, see him rap too. But we have to charge and love it.
