Hello and welcome to Girls Gone Canon Unleash the D Season 2 Episode 2 featuring Gleidus.
I'm one of your hosts, Chloe.
Season 2, Episode 2, featuring Glytis.
I'm one of your hosts, Chloe.
And I am so happy to be here.
Once again, thank you for inviting me on to Unleash the D as a special guest.
I'm Eliana.
You can find me on Girls Gone Canon podcast.
But I think I'm not the only special guest today.
Yeah, we have a third special guest thanks for joining us yes an
honorary girly well yeah sorry no my co-host is here you're a pretty special guest too chloe
oh oh my god wow charming who's running this ship who's here i told you that's my new co-host.
Really fucking excited to have you on.
Thanks for joining us.
You may know Gleidus from the internet.
I mean, is my thought, mostly.
But do you want to tell everybody where they can find you? Hi, I'm Gleidus.
I'm at Gleidus, and you can Gleidus along with me at Gleidus.Gleidus.
and you can glide us along with me at gliders.gliders.
I make really stupid but somehow often profound videos about Ice and Fire, more Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon of late.
But, you know, if you've ever encountered people claiming
that some characters are horses, that's my fault.
Sorry.
Yes, yes. You did popular uh which characters are which horses unicorns etc and honestly
yeah that that was an accident that's where it's really at yeah probably we're very into the um tyraka horse theory as well so you're kin to this podcast
and your food episodes with all shipped acts have been amazing um we we like your bliss takes
very much but your food episodes are honestly what made us go we got away that's sick we gotta
hit that guy up honestly if you call that boy oh so oh love those and you also have your secondary channel where you
do a lot more stuff with music uh we love the music eliana's actually a very big materia fan
i i was listening i also really love that you have a lot of dc hardcore
um dc hardcore punk on the playlist that y'all put together so what are your hot d plans this year
before we jump into everything today what are you going to be doing because i know last year you
kind of ran your last season sorry they're every other year you ran yourself really ragged i feel
like pushing out videos and they were great videos but i just know and we did too we were very tired so what's the deal
this year yeah thank um thank you first of all for saying that um so last season I had a full-time
job working as a teacher and I got sick after episode four and I just started to fall behind
and I died a little and then it took me a long time to recover and then I had you know some
emotional issues mental shit to work through and um the result of that was you know six really good
videos um that took me a year to make
artist pain yeah
yeah so I'd rather
avoid that situation again
and
I'm hoping like I can produce
something weekly through the season just
because I feel like you know people
people want that
people deserve that like I should
it's my job I should be doing that.
Um,
but it might take longer to produce like the full actual,
you know,
complete reviews.
And I'm not committing to doing that weekly.
Smart.
Hell yeah.
I respect that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We were doing too much too.
I fell down some stairs.
It was a whole.
We were doing two episodes a week.
That was foolish.
It was a whole... We were doing two episodes a week. That was foolish. It was so stupid. Like, it was great, but... I think it might be easier if I commit to,
you know, I have my own podcasting partner that I can hang out with just to get some easy content out there. You know, that's what we mostly do is just produce noise
for people's second screens, you know, help them get to sleep.
That's what we need to do.
Yeah.
And it's good to just do something simple too before you go too deep into it.
And it's fun to enjoy it.
Yeah.
Like as an actual, like you're, you know, like I like when this premiered,
Eliana actually was kind of living nearby for a little bit.
It was like a temporary living, a seasonal living near me.
And we actually watched most of the season together.
And I think that's something that really, it really spoke to me that like Game of Thrones was back, baby.
I got to watch it with my best friend and have fun.
And it was fun
yeah and it's so cool to talk about it with a friend and just having an audience for that like
it's just so much fun need to do more of that yeah I want to enjoy it more you know content
doesn't need to just be pushing content out it should be passionate it should be fun it's art
yeah we might have had a little absolutely fun and like our audio suffered for a little bit
but um our hearts were full yeah which that means more than anything like what if we recorded in
turns out we did not have the technical capabilities for that at that time
it's hard when you have like a two podcast household, you know, you got to reserve time.
You got to, it's a big deal.
My roommate also has a podcast and.
Intimate friend.
It was a, my intimate friend, my work colleague that lives with me.
Oh.
Husband or whatever.
Whatever.
Whatever they call it.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
whatever they call it i've no idea what you're talking about uh okay so hot d will be a little relaxed to start we'll wait till we get the full-on takes from glidus but what uh what can
you tell us about your big journey from what i hear i think you just took something of an odyssey
and uh you did something really cool with interviewing Raya Golden.
Yeah, so to give you the whole story, Old Swift X and I were supposed to go to Con of Thrones last
year in, where was it, Orlando. And that got cancelled a few months shy of the event. But
we had already bought the tickets like the plane
tickets to get there and like i don't know how much you know about global travel but that's not
cheap um and so we had these united credits because fortunately we could refund the flights
but we got flight credits instead of cash so those credits expired a year after the flight was supposed to happen and that was coming up and
it was like okay so we have to go to america i guess for some reason and we just decided to
contact everyone we you know thought would be a good idea to contact and um then we just threw
together this quick little jaunt around the united states hit up a few cities
um you know bing bang boom done it was a whirlwind we like we just blazed across the country barely
taking any time to sniff any roses or other things even eras tour um and oh my god the eras tour wow Um, and. Oh my God. The Eros tour. Wow.
Yeah.
And, um, a part of this trip was a week in Santa Fe where we did the George Martin tour.
We rode his train.
We, um, we went to his cinema.
We went to his bookshop.
It was honestly really great.
And then, um, we did meet the man himself. Are the the rumors true did you eat a burrito with george rr martin we did i yes that is what's
happened holy shit yeah i know he didn't describe it for us but um hopefully you know this is
relationship building a few burritos down the line and maybe we'll get a written description out of him. Yeah.
I think it was the next day we interviewed Rhea Golden, George's longtime assistant, who also, yeah, illustrated and published the graphic novel version of Tough Voyaging,
The Plague Star, which is an old George story from like almost 40 years ago.
Yeah, 86, I think, 87.
And it's like a space opera, basically.
Yeah, it's sort of like a heist movie in space, but where everyone's backstabbing each other
and there's all this crazy, chaotic violence and there's space cats that like spit acid at you and there's a dinosaur it's a
great story that's amazing and interviewing ray is really cool especially when you look like the
adaptation of literature to graphic novel and how all of that actually translates yeah that was
really cool to talk to her about we'll link that interview below as well as the the many many
channels of glidis for you all to
check out if you're not already subscribed, if you're not one of the bajillion people already
subscribed, which you should be, which you should be. We're so excited to have you on. This is a
huge celebrity moment. We'll link some of the best food videos below from you and all ShiftX as well,
because those are our favorites personally
those and the blitz takes the blitz takes are pretty good you guys got to check it out yeah
oh thanks it's good that they're pretty good yeah yeah they're up there you know i mean
i'm not gonna rate them but no they made me want to re-record the whole season i was like i want
to redo all my episodes again especially as i was re-watching Hot D also prepping for all these and I said no
so there's that
well let's hope that season 2
is worthy of more of that sort of
video
wow okay
but it's not a
given like the show could get worse
we have to admit that that is a
possibility no that's true
I don't want to be blinded by you know um my own investment in a show but i think it's going to be
good i just want to be aware that it might not be yeah and i think a couple years off is really
good after going through game of thrones season by season and then the one break and then season season season like exhausting it was so yeah right it's it's very tiring and I think the
way I think I've learned a lot since that show ending but the way we interact with that kind of
media right like books are one thing because they don't go anywhere tv shows put out the episodes
and it's like you gotta react you gotta get it out
but do you yeah that's thankfully the approach i took with house of the dragon like sure the season
ended but there's still so much time until the next season so it wasn't that bad that i took
so long to make those videos yeah no the hype is still there and honestly I think that break was good for the watchers too. It really is.
The hype is there for all of it. Like I made my first Game of Thrones season one video in 2017.
It had been six years and you know it it it's what started my channel really. So I don't think the recency of what you're making content about is that...
like, it's relevant obviously and it's good to like ride a wave, it's a great
way to get popularity, but you know you can get staying power from just talking
about something you're passionate about. That's what most people come to this
sort of content for. Yeah, absolutely.
Anyone can read the Asanga Bisonfire wiki on a YouTube video. You know what I mean? It's
like it's the people behind it that actually read the books and have a passion for the art
with one another that have the staying power, you know?
And when you incorporate Secret Tunnel songs into your videos too, like that's what really...
Yeah. Really speaks to people
it does actually it speaks to me so yeah it is a strange little niche i've carved for myself
and like i'm surprised how large it's turned out to be i thought that what i was doing would
appeal to like 10 people across the world and I'd never find them,
but no. Apparently there's shit tons of us. There are many of us. Shit tons.
Yeah, well, and you keep it light, you know, like it's kind of one of those
series that can get a little heavy with all of the incest, backstabbing, betrayal, murder,
you name it, go on, you know you know whatever but like with all that it can
get heavy so i think that there's room for humor in it always we're gonna cover some housekeeping
up top real quick and then we'll jump in today we're gonna talk a little bit about the spectacle
of season two what to expect uh when we're expecting season two. Expectacle. And Expectacle.
Okay, we'll work on that.
We'll workshop it.
But, huh.
Hmm.
So, first up, up top,
just echoing on our hot D schedule you mentioned last week,
this is episode two of three
of the pre-episodes being Unleashed
in Unleash the D for you all.
We will have two more after the season to come back and close out the Unleash the D
season.
So this is the pre, uh, you know, the, the, the next step before we get to the mid season
finale of Unleash the D.
I'm so excited about our next week guest.
Uh, having Glytus here is a blast.
We're going to have a great episode ahead of us, but next week, I having glidus here is a blast we're gonna have a great episode ahead of us but
next week i know you want to know who's coming next week because we always have a guest
always have a guest it's me eliana oh my god not you the other guest
yeah um i've been told that we are getting another guest a second guest to help me because um i just need it and it's going to be
our friend hannah from game of owns who is amazing i love her she loves diet coke um
she does we ate oysters once together it was a blast i love that girl one time to tell you the
kind of person she is we were
setting up a party at ice and fire con and she was like chloe i'm gonna need you to step away
from the task you're doing you're a better manager it's true though hannah's great it is true i am a
better manager no no actually no no i don't know if you're a better manager because hannah is
fantastic at also but well yeah because she managed me by telling me i was a manager and i
believed her at the time my god she's brilliant but she's reading night of the seven kingdoms for
the first time game of owns is doing dunkin egg right now which holds a certain affinity for us
as most of you know it's our first podcast together was drunken egg for drunk a swath so
um really excited to have her on because she's going through it for the first podcast together was Drunk and Egg for Drunk Acewaff so um really excited to have her
on because she's going through it for the first time with Zach and he's read it so they've been
putting out some great episodes go check them out we'll link that below so you can get prepared for
next week but we will talk about hot tea mostly so no worries if you haven't caught up with Dunk and Egg. After that, you can expect Hot D episodes on Wednesdays, but if you are here to possibly
want them earlier, maybe Tuesday night or Tuesday late afternoon, depending on when

episode every month on something that we want you to hear, whether it's Aeswaf related, George
related, Hot D related. Last month, we put out a The Second Kind of Loneliness, a story by George.
It's interesting so far, personally, at the time of recording, I'm probably like three quarters of
the way through it. I'm going to reread reread it but very interesting we're really liking these george novellas from dream songs
check it out uh and this month is tba we'll let you know that as we get a little farther into june
but with that said in the thunder tier and above 10 bucks and up you have access to our discord

Eliana, what kind of events do we run on our Discord? Well, there are events.
Oh my gosh.
Once a month, we run a brunch slash happy hour, brappy hour, maybe?
Question mark?
Maybe.
Happening on a Saturday or Sunday of each month, and we get together, we chat, sometimes
we play games, sometimes we do presentations

for announcements for the june event yes coming soon that'll be on patreon too we'll update that
there for you and on the discord so join up and if you have not listened to us before if this is
your very first experience with girls gone canon wow your first time welcome wow we're gonna um
hold your hand through it it's gonna be a blast we're gonna have unless you don't want us to hold
your hand we don't have to that's fine we don't have to But usually we are a A Song of Ice and Fire reread podcast.
However, we do not go in a linear manner in the way that the books were written and published.
We are a little crazy.
We like to go POV by POV character at a time.
We are on the last four POVs of our POV order of all the published chapters.
This is kind of insane. This is like
what the last third of the books. I say it like it's exciting, but they're fucking thick chapters.
Yes. So epilogues will be after House of the Dragon. We will be covering the epilogues. We
have two chapters to cover. Two amazing guests. Keep your ears peeled for that announcement through the hot d season
but after that we will get to those final three povs those are uh i think there's a little tyrian
cersei danny cersei tyrian danny whatever you want to who knows what order that's on you guys to
figure out i mean we know but you don't uh those will those will be after that so it'll be a long
couple of years to get through them.
And we're giving George some ample time to catch up.
Yeah, it's a challenge, George.
The gauntlet.
The gauntlet.
And to tell you about our spoiler policy for both House of the Dragon, Unleash the D,
and our Aeswaf POV, we are spoilers all.
If it's been published, if it's on TV, if it's in trailers, or if photos have been released
officially, we're going to talk about them.
Yes, we are going to completely discuss everything that we know from Fire and Blood.
So if you don't want to know some of the bigger plot points of what to expect from the story, this might not be for you.
And that's okay.
You can check out our coverage with Chika or we'll just see you another time.
That's fine.
But read the books.
But also, I want to do a quick caveat regarding spoilers that I have been avoiding.
Like if there are any leaks from the set I personally
have been avoiding them I don't know if either of you have read them or seen them but I just like to
enjoy the visual story as it happens and unfolds yeah I've only seen a handful of photos from set
uh I actually if you were if any of you are joining us again from last season, I was very spoiled last season.
Very, very spoiled.
This season, I'm actually going in a lot more blind to some of those spoilers.
But the trailers are telling a lot of story, honestly.
I've been snagging some good details from there and from some of the official releases.
All right.
Housekeeping's done.
Boring shit's off the table let's jump into to
let's unleash the d wow everyone and the d here is the hot d the house of the dragon and we're
going to talk a little bit about you know the spectacle of season two from page to screen
because fire and blood we're turning paragraphs into plots here right there was tons
in season one whether it's uh you know agan's coronation in the book versus the show we'll
talk about that became quite a spectacle where it was really like two paragraphs in fire and blood
uh and that's a lot of the show i feel like that's what our only child ryan condell um has really the only child you will ever have
that's what he's been having to do as showrunners turn some of this kind of you know lackluster
history book into into a scene are there any other like examples of a boring history book
having 30 pages turned into an entire season of good television like has that
ever been done before oh you said good television yeah yeah because i have a take i have one but
you said good television it makes me think right because you have like, I mean, to be fair, you have The Godfather. Those are books.
You have stuff like that.
That's technically a historical book.
Or like Apollo 13, I think, is probably a favorite one that's based on Lost Moon.
But otherwise, not really.
Right?
Schindler's List.
I don't, I mean, nothing historical like this.
You have shows that are, I mean, like like this you have shows that are I mean like Wolf Hall right
you have the Wolf Hall books which are exceptional
and not history books but somewhat
based on history they're fiction
but not a lot of actual
historical books
and more to the point it's like such a
small excerpt of a book that they
turned into season one
it's so little material that turned into ten hours of a book that they turned into season one yeah it's so little material that that turned into 10
hours of a pretty good show yeah yeah has anyone done that did ryan invent a new thing
doing that yeah if not invented completely innovated right an existing thing completely
yeah i mean like around the same time that this was coming out right you had rings of power which i guess is technically trying to you know doing the same
thing yeah that's sort of the same idea yeah similar yeah i don't know i'm trying to think
of anything else like you could say that technically some of the world building in
the star wars universe it's like pulling from inspiration but i don't know that it's taking
from any sort of other what canon material that they flesh out like if you think about it
was rogue one was rogue one technically something like that um but they didn't have any like actual
canon material that they were like let's turn this into a whole movie so yes not really an
adaptation wow that's interesting good for ryan season two is not exactly like that
yeah like there's a lot more material in the book that they're turning into season two it seems That's interesting. Good for Ronan. Season two is not exactly like that.
Yeah.
Like there's a lot more material in the book that they're turning into season two, it seems.
Yeah, because if you look, so I was rereading Fire and Blood this weekend.
And as you do.
As you do.
Yeah, exactly. You get me.
It's like, what, the fifth time? I was just rereading.
Yeah, for like the eight millionth time.
And I'll never forget when we got that book we went to
uh George R. R. Martin signing for it together in Jersey City and I I will never forget that I was
the nerdy one that as soon as everybody got their books me and one of our friends were in like the
cab on the way to the Airbnb and just like in the book and everybody was excited and chatting about
how they were gonna have drinks tonight Eliana's like everyone's here everyone's great inviting people back to our place we didn't
let her do um just inviting strangers over that's what I do uh but I was just in the book I was busy
not inviting people because I was like what is going on with Sarah Targaryen what uh very exciting
and like even at season one right you have the front of it is a very
condensed ending of jahariff's and aliceanne's story they shove a lot of that into there but
season two is not a lot uh looking at at fire and blood like leading up to like rook's rest
and leading up to raniera triumphant even is like four pages.
Yeah.
Is it?
I mean, it's like four to five or four to six pages. Like it's a section.
It's not even a full season.
So I think there's got to be a lot of remixing we're going to see.
And maybe we'll see some things move up.
I definitely think we're going to see some changes with where characters are going to be.
I don't think we're going to get the gullet at the time it's supposed to happen.
We can talk about that as we get into it,
but I think the gullet will change.
Something that is strong about the way
that they've been able to pad out each of these seasons
is that they've really invested in doing that character work
that is important for making those dramatic moments hit, right?
And I think we're going to see, for example,
a lot of characters get more screen time this season
that they don't. They don't have any time on the page right like i think we get a bit of like just
series but we're kind of getting more of the action about him but i think we have to do a
lot of investment about like his personal dilemmas right and even like egan he's he's very much i
think one note in the books but we're gonna obviously play him up, play Rainey's up, because
they have to come to the forefront as main characters as well. So that, again, some of those
moments later on feel earned, and they have gravity, which is something that I think
could have happened more in the in the original series, which, you know,
brought us all to these books. But yeah.
Yeah, Rainey's especially is one that I'm like, oh, yeah, good.
They're going to keep building her up and bring her center stage
since they have to slaughter her on screen.
No.
It's got to mean something.
No, grandmama.
Grandmama.
Yeah, that's the thing is all of these things on the page are pretty,
like, they're cool to read about.
Like, oh, I can picture an epic dragon battle
awesome but like the characters in the book are like like nowhere near as deep as characters
george writes in the main series and i think that's the depth that this adaptation can take
and that's why it's so interesting to me yeah is that like it's it's padding out material by adding
depth rather than adding stuff yes it's treating that stuff as as depth right like that's what i
think you're talking about how the first season yeah first season like is taken from like so few
paragraphs but that's because i think what they did really well was they laid that foundation so that everything else that comes after it really does, again, have that dramatic
weight.
Harrenhal, for example, is going to be a huge, huge expansion, right?
As we start to think about some of these plots.
Damon taking Harrenhal in the book, it's like only a couple pages.
And then it goes, and that's the other thing, right?
We bounce around so much in that book where like a paragraph a couple pages and then it goes and that's the other thing right we bounce
around so much in that book where like a paragraph and a half will be like Damon took Harrenhal the
Vale White Harbor Winterfell the Blackwoods all the river lords stream towards Harrenhal and Damon's
banners and then it's like but anyways let's go over here now and we have to talk about what was
happening simultaneously across the world across the continent uh and it kind of seems that harrenhal is going to be hugely expanded right
like damon's going to be taking it in the trailers we see him taking it we see harrenhal becoming
kind of a very significant place which it should be yeah especially considering that raniera's sons
her first three sons are actually born of a lord of harrenhal i feel like that's
excuse me yeah treason no way oh no those are valerian those are valerians those are valerians
but you're right harrenhal is like thematically and narratively and geographically politically
a very important place and it's it makes complete sense that they're going to widen its presence in the show and there's that shot in the in the trailer from like a month ago
of um renero flying to harrenhal on cyrax which like there's no mention of anything like that
in the book yeah what's going on there yeah i feel like everybody glossed over because of um god's eye in general and all the
weirwoods everyone was so hyped right like everyone was like oh my god the isle look at it the isle of
faces oh my god but i feel like everybody glossed over that syrax is right there and it's like why
are you going to harrenhal raniera what's going on at harrenhal why that's the only big yellow
dragon i know because sunfire looks differently oh it's
definitely cyrax because like she has the club tail at the end of her and like no other dragon
has that i haven't looked at these dragons well enough yeah that's my job makes total sense right
she has tons of free time in the books right now and by free time i mean like she's probably
suffering after her miscarriage pretty horribly in
the books,
but this is a TV show.
We don't have time for that.
Her going to Heron Hall where her baby daddy,
you know,
was from,
um,
probably not getting to,
you know,
say goodbye to him might be a little emotional and might make her want to go
to Heron Hall.
Whoa.
And now her new baby daddy has like taken over it so it's like what does that mean for her
man yeah and the battle of the burning mill and all those little mini battles are all quick
paragraphs so it's kind of a great turn of the odds because honestly this whole season i mean
the blacks are on like the win right at the front, they bring a very strong offense. A lot of people say the Veil, White Harbor, Winterfall.
They all are like, yes, we stand for team black, not team green.
And it's a huge like working up before the big crescendo to Rhaenyra Triumphant.
I mean, everything has to be pretty strong.
A few big losses like Rhaenyra triumphant I mean everything has to be pretty strong a few a few big losses like
Rhaenyra strong uh but we've kind of gotta build it up for Harrenhal and I don't know I think it's
a good change for her to do something there I don't know what she's gonna do but a good change
yeah it's also really interesting for her to be going around and doing those things because they
they frame her as being so um sedentary in things because they they frame her as being so um
sedentary in the books right they frame her as being weak hiding behind the walls of Dragonstone
and not really taking an active role in the war that is being fought in her name so for that to
be something that's different on screen kind of shows like hey how are we really portraying the
people who are in this war in this history book um
depending on how you want to interpret the two the two canons or not and then i don't know i
think it's also uh heron hall is really interesting because i mean you had the great council there so
there's a lot of there's a lot of history there that also has to do with this is the place where it was decided that the female claimant would not
gain the throne. So for that to be a turning point in regards to who gets the Iron Throne this go-around
is really interesting, especially because around it in the Riverlands
you're going to have other female claimants probably coming to the forefront or even players if they're not claimants.
For example, characters like, I again, don't know if they're gonna be in the show or not, Sabbath they're not claimants um for example uh characters like i
again don't know if they're going to be in the show or not sabbath of fray black alley
uh and jane aaron and then you also have other characters as well a little more secret like
alice rivers yes i know black alley is definitely in it um in fact if i'm not if I'm not being crazy, I think it's a...
I think also Sabbath of Frey is in it, but I want to say Abigail Thorne, isn't that Philosophy Tube, is Sabbath of Frey.
Huh.
Yeah.
I have to hold my tongue.
Oh, interesting, interesting.
This was an offline discussion.
Yeah, to my my knowledge she's definitely
in it and i think shane stevenson has joined on and being speculated as alice ann blackwood and
she's got these crazy amazing lord eyebrows she basically could be lord's cousin okay so
i'm into her i think she'll make a great black alley if that's her. But I really appreciate the commitment to keeping those
characters in. And, you know, on rewatch of season one, I rewatched series one last week in like two
days. A lot of things I did notice is, yeah, brain fried right now, dude. So fried. I'm so sick about
tea. There's a lot of build up in the last two episodes about what's going to happen in the beginning of
this season yeah jacera says he's going to the veil then he's going to winterfell so i don't
think we're opening with winterfell i think we are going to the veil we will see jane aron right
away i don't think she's just going to be a one-off i think we'll see her again it looks like
from some of the shots in the newly released official season two trailer that came out today
we're talking about spectacle partially because um not just like book to show adaptations,
but like these big moments, things that like were for the public performance, right? What does it
mean to give a show of power in, in a political setting? And, uh, when it comes to people who are
these leaders, right? A lot of the times their personal lives
become public spectacle for the masses. So that's a couple of other things that we're going to touch
on here. Like, I think when Damon goes to Harrenhal, uh, I mean, again, we're discussing
Rhaenyra going there. It's going to be a big show of getting to the Riverlands, um, maybe making
them all swear. And then also, like, it's a great setup for later on when Daemon leaves Harrenhal, because I think we can see it be a through line with some of the things from season one.
Daemon is acting as bait, right?
He's being like, hey, we're here at Harrenhal.
Isn't that interesting?
Don't you want to come to Harrenhal and retake it?
This really important castle that you might find strategic, maybe?
And also, ho ho, I'm Daemon.
So infuriating. I'm here. And that's what he does in the battle with the crab feeder, damon so infuriating i'm here and that's what
he does in the battle with the crab feeder right he's like i'm here i'm human meat let's go fight
and then it's a distraction for them to be able to later on go take king's landing so
great character work establishing damn that is a good through line i had not thought about
thought about it on the plane.
I had five hours all to myself and I hate being left alone with my thoughts.
So planes are full.
It's a scary thing.
The idea of him baiting people is very him too, especially considering his end with
Amon.
Because both of them like that.
They love the baiting but they also like don't
they don't actually like the execution of the thing as much as the baiting as much as playing
with their food i feel like so that's why their final battle will be so epic at heron hall
and we're gonna see him um do some more murder in the beginning it looks like from the trailers some more murder
uh trailer has a lot of executions from both sides going on it looks like right kristen cole
and duskendale damon and the riverlands executing traitors which is kind of funny because in my head
i'm like you guys are just killing each other's people which is fine but like just tradesies you
know yeah god is there anything you're specifically looking forward to, Glytus?
Host of this podcast?
To seeing Honorary Glurly's Glon Clannan.
What things I'm excited to see adapted to the screen this season.
Honestly, I haven't been fixated on any one
particular thing i i'm really excited though to see uh the north again to see craig and stark
and the wall that just excites me that shot in the trailer where like they're walking along the
wall and craig and has ice strapped across his back that just made me excited for like
fanboyish reasons the music can you wait for the music to come back that beautiful sad string
oh my god a tear in my eye oh oh no oh no Ramin no
wow and those beautiful walls as we ride up the weirwood oh my god and even in the trailer like
they had this line in the official trailer of i mean the theme isn't just like tying this to the
targaryen civil war they're also tying this the bigger thing it's they say whoever sits the throne
isn't just king or queen they're protector of the realm which is great because the
north is often considered as an afterthought to the rulers right it's its own separate place with
separate customs yeah so is the implication there that she told jace off screen before the end of
season one i don't know yeah yeah i don't know i think we might see it still because it seems they're doing a
somewhat funeral for luke right at some point and there have been some stills released by hbo
of raniera and jace at that funeral yeah but that's interesting because like jace and vermax
left dragonstone at the same time luke did so, like, by the time Luke got to Storm's End,
you'd think Jace would be most of the way to the Eyrie already.
Right, and done.
Yeah, maybe offscreen, I guess. I don't know.
I feel like you're asking, right, because he and Kragan
form what's called the Pact of Ice and Fire,
and I'm like, wow, that sounds like just, like, the thing
that Viserys said first episode, but also just like the thing that viscerys said first episode but
also just like the thing that the book series is named after um also just like the pact of ice and
fire that yeah the children of the forest and so how would it like yeah the timing wise is
interesting because like how would it precede his his business trip to all these places?
Oh my God, he's just like you, if I think about it.
You know, going to all these different places. Yeah, he's doing a whirlwind tour of the North.
Oh my God, do not go to the Gullit.
I repeat, do not go to the Gullit, Leidas.
Don't do it.
What? Why?
But it looks so pretty.
You've been looking for a tropical vacation.
Also, I think maybe it'll be clunky right like maybe
we'll get a ham-fisted moment where he says to cregan my mother said okay but i loved it when
they said yes for crows basically in the show so i don't mind the ham-fisted stuff i have a question
this is a little off topic but not in regards to cre Craig and Stark. So we see him, I think that was him in the trailer,
when, okay, like, I cannot grow a beard.
In the books, he's depicted as having like this really,
really big beard as he talks to some child,
basically two years later within the timeline.
How feasible is it for Craig and Stark to grow such a big beard like that?
Um, this is an important question that you're asking. I'm glad that we're finally getting to
the important stuff. Um, thank you. Thank you. Look, two years. Um, oh, a beard that big.
Yeah, I think it's possible.
That's an intense beard.
It is possible.
It is an intense beard.
I think it's possible.
He also looks like 40 years older there, though.
He's talking to, like, Agen.
I mean, I think he just had, like, the thing that happens to presidents of the U.S.
Maybe once they, like, you know, rapid aging.
The Dance of the Dragons is really hard.
Well you take care of King's Landing for a single day and you suddenly age 10 years.
And then you become Doug Wheatley's Cregan Stark.
Shit.
I'm just talking about the illustrations in Foreign Blood and I'm just like how do
we get from that to that?
Is that doable at age 23 as well?
And I think so, I have friends who have had beards doable like at age 23 as well like and I think so I have friends who
have had beards like that by age 23 so yeah a bearded face can change pretty quickly yeah
life comes at you fast when you grow a beard I totally get that when I turn 23 next year
when I yeah why are you laughing um I don't know why you're laughing. Because you're turning 22.
Good one.
Very good.
Okay, call it in the air right now.
Sarah Snow?
In? In or out?
It has to be in.
I don't know.
I feel like they're not going to add Sarah Snow.
And I believe in... I'm a Sarah Snow truther.
I'm going to come out right now on this podcast bravely and say i believe in sarah snow i believe that sarah
snow is real i believe in you sarah snow but i don't believe that hot d believes in her
damn i know it's hard to say that too the way. Like as somebody who wants it to happen, but knows in her heart, probably not.
I don't know.
It's just that most of the other mushroom crap is like,
it's raunchy and unnecessary and salacious.
But like Sarah Snow, that's just like a pretty, pretty nice thing that happens.
Yeah. It's like a quieter, like, withheld, like, secrets around it and you only know so much. That's more what I'm getting at.
And, you know, it's more thematically resonant than any of the other crap that Mushroom ever,
like, says is real. Yeah. So I just felt different and it just, I don't know i i thought i could trust ryan i did too to be fair i really did but then i'm like i guess the thing for me is i think the show
is really focusing on bella a lot more than the books did at this point like bella becomes such
a big player in the end game yeah that's a good point so i think they're drinking their respect
bella juice more is what i think and i
don't think they're gonna do it and i'm not saying like bella should be cheated on don't put that in
the press i don't need a clickbait headline podcaster thinks bella targaryen deserves to
be cheated on but i do think like that they're gonna try to focus on that more and then it
becomes like how many new girlies can you really put in this season right like you have girly pop alice girly pop sarah snow too like i don't know and ali you have ali
and alice and sabbath yeah um it's a lot that just may too there just may be too many cuties
well yeah agreed i think i don't know i think sarah snow could still happen it could be interesting but will they find it too redundant with the ray garliana thing and therefore they're like but why
but i think i mean i think that's the point but at the same time yeah i just my thought that i
i guess i could bring it up later but just reminder everyone this is not a reminder i've
never shared it aloud but sarah snow makes me think of the song sarah smile by holla notes and that's it that's the take i appreciate you mean um
sorry i just want to clarify you mean daryl hall and john yes yes as they're separated now
i forgot i forgot yes i'm sorry i forgot. She's not drinking her Daryl and John respect juice.
One person named Holland Oates.
You know, I used to think Robin Thicke was two people.
Oh, fascinating.
When I found out Robin Thicke was one guy and that that was what he's saying, I was like...
Oh my god, I did not know this about you yeah i'm glad we can
learn for like seven years yeah we can learn new things about each other all the time
never gets old girl that's great
oh i never and then he came out with blurred lines i was like oh that's who rob and flick
is this is wait so you knew him before that i didn't know his music i i had to have been i
don't know how old i was when that song came out but i was younger i was definitely younger and
before that i just always and i also thought it was a country artist anyways but interesting i
thought he was a country artist a lot of people start out as country artists and then becomes
something else that's like very common wow speaking of people who have like duos you know let's talk about blood and cheese
that's the transition whole notes to blood and cheese
that was a beautiful segue that was a three-parter i'm glad we went for this ride together
all right we all know that blood and cheese is happening the whole world knows anyone who's on
the internet knows even the the normies who haven't read the books are like oh blood and
cheese is gonna be brutal man in fact i'm and they think it's edgy that they know about it
they think that it's so funny seeing people like i know about blood and cheese i have a
i'm like desensitized to it now are you because? Because I am. I'm like, okay, it happens.
It's going to be horrible.
What's next?
I was sort of always like, it's an adaptation.
Of course it's going to happen.
It's an important thing.
And I'm not looking forward to watching it, but I hope they do it well.
Yeah.
They'll do well.
They've set it up really well already with Secret Passages, right seen the secret passages we know where they are and with misaria and with the
back and forth of the small folk and the rich they've also given misaria like explicit motive
against the grains yeah alicent kind of um blew that one up, unfortunately. Larry's was like, you know how you can gain control?
Remember the last time I set a building on fire and it was really good for you?
Let's do it again.
Oh, yeah.
Fuck, that was two fires.
I never counted that they were...
Wow.
Larry's, what is your deal?
Larry really loves arson.
That's concerning.
It's his thing.
That's concerning. From what I know about about people it's his favorite thing but if you think about it who in the show
does not love arson when you consider it is based off of fire and blood and our specific animal of
choice how do you guys think that blood and cheese is going to go down translated from book to show Glytis what do you think is like
what do you see here happening
well do you mean
like the killing itself
well I mean the motivations
the surrounding circumstances
do you think it's gonna be pure
Damon do you think Damon will have health
I've recently come
across a fan theory
a brilliant fan theory that posits that either Otto or Alicent are behind Blood and Cheese.
And I think this is hilarious because why would anyone think that?
What happened there?
Have you seen anyone say this?
This is a thing.
I could see Otto, but not allison um anyway yeah no it's so there's that shot of raniera and mazaria talking
on dragon stone in the trailer so raniera is certainly aware that something's happening, right?
Yeah.
And, you know, how did Misaria get there but Daemon?
So it's Daemon.
Misaria is complicit.
She's probably motivated as well.
And I guess Rhaenyra...
I could see them having a scene where Rhaenyra signs off on it.
Yeah, especially after Luke.
I could see that.
Yeah.
And maybe that's directly after the scene where Rhaenys cautions her to be restrained,
practice that restraint that Rhaenys really liked in Rhaenyra in episode 10.
Restrained. Practice that restraint that Rhaenys really liked in Rhaenyra in episode 10.
Because, you know, we had that speech in the trailer where Rhaenys is like,
dude, this is going to get out of hand if you let it get out of hand.
So please, please, just for the love of God, don't do anything drastic.
And then, like, I'm saying, what if the next scene is then Rhaenyra saying, yep, do it, kill them.
I'm going to do something drastic, she says.
Yeah, I could see that, especially,
and the new official trailer that just came out,
Damon is in King's Landing,
and maybe that's part of the Harrenhal fuckery.
I know that a lot of the production interviews that have come out talk about how Harrenhal
is definitely gonna be witchy as we get Alice coming,
and definitely the curse of Harrenhal
makes things seem as they might not be so maybe it's a dream sequence or maybe Damon feels like he's in King's
Landing but he's not uh but there's definitely a throne room shot of him in the throne room so I'm
like oh so you went to go see your old haunts when you came home to King's Landing before you
made sure that the babies die I don't know uh i don't know eliana what do you think just kind
of like what i'm trying to understand is nazaria is framed in the first season as a person who's
like she's framed as like this very positive in a way person right like you know street urchin
kind of person with heart of gold and so i'm like how do we get to a point where this person who even though she's poised against the throne right now is down to kill kids
and now i know fire and blood posits that blood and cheese were originally supposed to maybe kill
a gun and we're like i'm gonna audible and kill kids instead. I learned a new term. I learned sports terms recently, so I'm using them.
Good for you.
So is that what happens?
Well, it could be that Mazaria is lied to about what's going to happen.
True.
Like, what if she thinks, yeah, we're going to kill Otto or we're going to kill Aegon,
and she knows that both of those guys are dicks, so she's down to do that.
And then it turns out that Blood and Cheese kill a little baby.
Yeah.
An innocent little kiddo who never hurt anyone.
And maybe her and Rhaenyra both are under that impression.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. It could be a big deception from Daemon. There's a lot of tension between Daemon and Rhaenyra in this latest trailer, so I guess that makes sense.
Yeah, because Damon does seem like a
I'm-okay-to-kill-kids kind of person.
Yeah.
Oh, he's down to kill anyone.
There are two kinds of people in the world.
No, I'm joking. They're... Never mind.
Oh my god.
Damon Targaryen and everyone else?
I don't know. I was like,
never mind, this meme is too much. I'm going to stop.
I do think
we'll see the return
of one of the most
important characters,
the murder cloak
in episode one or two then,
right?
Damon's murder cloak.
Yeah.
I think he's wearing it
in the trailer, isn't he?
The Kermit hood, yeah.
The Kermit,
do it.
Do it.
The Kermit suit.
Yeah. Do it. Do it. Damon, you haveit do it. Do it. The Kermit sick. Yeah.
Do it.
Do it.
Damon, you have to do it.
Kill them.
Kill them all now.
Oh, man.
They should have hired you as Damon to do the Kermit voice.
I am available for Kermit Tully.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Oh, okay.
Interesting.
We got the Tullys coming.
That's true. I will the Tullys coming, that's true.
I will say with Blood and Cheese, I'm looking forward to something that isn't really written on the page,
but the response, like, I think it looks like we're gonna get public response from the Greens,
and that's not really anything, like, they're gonna turn that into a whole, like, public show.
Huge spectacle. Huge funeral.
Yeah, it sounds like Otto wants to use it as a way to get everyone
in the kingdom on side with them like oh look what the blacks are doing they're killing children in
their homes yeah we're not doing that we kill them in the sky yeah so so so everyone come to our aid
this book will add paper by otto hightower. It's an election year.
Oh my god.
I don't know.
We don't have Malor.
Do you think it'll just be Jaehaerys and Jaehaera and they're gonna cut Malor?
I just don't.
I don't know if they have time for him to show up and then get ripped apart a season later.
Well, the thing is, in the season one opening credits...
He's there.
You know, the title. Yeah, he's there in the opening sequence.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe he's with Darren.
Yeah, true.
You know, maybe he's just chilling with Darren in The Reach.
Yeah, they're all hanging out in Old Town.
It's gonna be so funny that we still don't get Darren this season.
What if...
He hasn't been mentioned.
What if they cut the mention? What if they just don't get Darren this season. What if... He hasn't been mentioned. What if they cut the mention?
What if they just don't mention him still?
Yeah, but they keep including him
in the HBO official material.
And like, what if we just all of a sudden,
season four, get a scene with him out of nowhere?
I would love it.
I would actually say it's the most brilliant thing
I've ever seen.
No, no, no, the whole show.
He just never shows up.
He's always there in the official material.
He's always there in the opening credits,
but he's never mentioned in this show game
of thrones really should have taken a page out of that book yeah i think this it's just a full
viscerys experience like viscerys i don't know viscerys knows he had that other child i'm not
sure he knows he had any other children so it's gonna be like difficult because this season is
starting like 10 days after season one.
And since we're nixing all the time jumps, it's going to be a little difficult to bring Maylor in.
Yeah.
So maybe Helena will find out she's pregnant early on or they'll just pretend that that baby exists.
Hmm.
Yeah, maybe.
Maybe.
But yeah, I can see it being just little Jahara.
Jahara.
Yeah, that is going to be terrible, though.
Like, it is thinking about it pretty horrible.
Poor Helena.
She's, like, the only pure one there, so.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And she already knows that it's going to happen, right?
Yeah, probably so.
She sees a lot of things, man.
She sees some shit.
Then it happens.
It's nuts.
I'm actually really hoping they stay on that train and keep giving us Dragon Dreamer shit from Helena.
Hell yeah.
In fact, they really did a good job of Dragon Dreamer stuff with Viserys.
Who was like, I just wanted to believe I was a dreamer.
And it's like, you were, bitch uh and helena i don't know curious to see what comes of that and i think helena obviously
gets to be kind of like pedestaled as a figurehead of like oh so sad she lost her children etc
by the family that has imprisoned her in this life anyways um so i'm interested to see if they
do anything with her in the season as an actual arc instead of just prop that is interesting
though because what it seemed as though allison did have a lot of affection for her daughter but
to parade her around again as a political pawn is that generational trauma and her inflicting it on
her daughter what happened to her
isn't that exactly what Otto did with her
exactly
it's my favorite thing about the show
is when the child
does the same thing as the father because they
think they're doing the right thing and it's just
the trauma being passed on again
yes it's so good
yes it's just
like real life I agree and here's my essay on misato in
the rebuild evangelion oh my god wait chloe you have to watch rebuild all right sorry
i'm getting to it we're re-watching og right now anyways um off topic off topic yeah we've
been re-watching pretty slowly i think it's going to be really interesting to see Agen come to the forefront as a villain.
I mean, I think in a way, in a way,
everyone gets to be a villain.
So exciting.
But Agen as a villain this season,
and I mean, we were talking about seeing Sunfire
and all those public spectacles.
Yeah, I just, a lot of the spectacle in terms,
in story was around him in those last few episodes
and i think getting to see him lean into that because the spectacle is the only way
that aegon has ever felt approval and love because he doesn't get it from his family like he's looking
the when he's getting coordinated he's like are y'all sure he's looking at his family and he's
just waiting for everyone to give him a little head nod.
Like, yeah, go ahead, do it.
And he's like, okay.
And he turns around and for the first time in his life, he's felt love when everyone's cheering for him.
So I think he's going to really lean into that this season.
And it'll be interesting to see his relationship with Amon evolve as Amon's with his mother crumbles and what they're all up to and
how the greens are just very united as a front to the public but in private they're all like
falling apart yeah it reminds me of how um when in Game of Thrones Margaery takes Joffrey to see
the common people and they wave and they're all like, yeah, fuck yeah, we love the king. And Cersei's like, oh God, oh no, oh no, he's found love
from another source.
It's kind of interesting that for Alicent, love was what kept her going in the hard times,
right? Like her and Rhaenyra's love and affinity for one another was like the only thing she
felt like she had in some of the worst times in the front half of last season.
Alyson's entire persona being built off dignity and things being nice, right? That the social
structure and the picture that everyone sees, we have to uphold it and things still need to be
dignified. And you get that line in the official trailer from Agen fuck dignity so she has to sit
there and lose her children one by one whether literally through death which happens to all of
them and watch it as they all decide that love as some of our prior characters and thrones tell us
like Cersei is weakness they believe love is weakness and she knows that it can be obviously
for her but like that she has to watch each of
them say fuck you mom fuck your entire everything fuck your belief system fuck your dignity we're
doing this my way and that they like separate from her and that she'll just be so alone i mean it's
all leading to her all alone right in king's landing a prisoner if we don't get that ending
i'll be so mad of her her end plot uh i don't know why
that would change yeah they have to keep it because olivia cook is gonna win many awards
it would be silly not to give them oh god she's gonna fucking kill it oh she's gonna slay it holy
shit dude if i was dying olivia cook's acting could bring me back to death i'm pretty sure
i'm pretty sure yeah well that's good to know yeah good for
me too good for me to know just in case yeah does your insurance cover that no we live in america
remember uh uh fuck dignity yeah that's such a great point because you know, Alicent, her father told her that love wasn't gonna get her
through this, and now her son is saying that too. That, you know, these constructs
that she's been bullied, basically, into believing are the only way to get things
done are false. They're made up. They don't matter and let's just kill everyone.
That she also, that was her last stranglehold on power, right?
Her goal was she had power through Aegon.
And suddenly now she will not.
She won't have power through Aegon.
True.
Aemond, she won't have power through.
And then she's crippled Helaena's chance at any power her entire life.
So Alicent will be alone with no power and no agency to her name.
That's terrible.
Enjoy your war. Fuck.
Yeah, like, just the way we're putting it already sounds so much more tragic than how it reads on the page. Like, it's already pretty tragic on the page. But, you know, seeing it teased out like
this, um, again, that's the strength of the adaptation. it's so we were just talking with our friend
chica last week about it on how it adds so much depth other than just like the old stepmom
their intimacy and closeness is so special in season one and their chemistry i mean it would
be a crime not to let those two actors get to do this on screen. Oh, yeah.
Going to Essos for a hot, hot second.
A hot de-second.
A hot de-second.
We had a lot of setup in season one with, as you brought up, Eliana, you know, the Stepstones were kind of our entryway.
And then we had Pentos.
The Triarchy Alliance.
I feel like this could be a great early to mid
season plot for otto to have something to do someone give him a job basically get a job
i wonder how it's going to be delivered are we going to get this information delivered to us
or will it be more like in passing in councils like it wasn't season one here and there uh
maybe maybe it'll be be in passing or something,
because what, Aegon has to be like,
Grandpapa, you're not doing anything.
Why are you here?
And he has to get fired, too.
Yeah, he has to get fired.
It occurs to me that maybe,
as what happens in actual political machinations,
the way that Aegon gets rid of Otto
is to send him on some bullshit diplomatic mission
to essos that's smart yeah okay so that would be the way to get rid of him
yeah because that way it's like not diplomatically suicidal to um hobart hightower
like he can't say oh my you just kicked my brother out from the hand ship and I'm
not supporting you anymore, even though you're my grand-nephew. Yeah. Yeah, you have to think
about that for a hot second, right? Yeah, I had to go through the family tree for a moment.
Some trees are wreaths, some trees are trees. This one's easier, though, from the Hightower's down.
Yeah. The High Council of the of the triarchy right that could be
really interesting to see that built out since we only got a little look at pentos and a little look
of that building though the food scenes fucking slapped at that feast yeah i do wonder you know
we have the battle of the gullet probably not happening this season it seems it kind of seems
like they're gonna push it out farther.
I don't think they can just kill all the Blacks characters
at the end of the season three episodes in a row
and say, okay, well, maybe next season we'll do more.
That could be a pretty gearishly awful way to end it.
But promising the stepstones to the triarchy from Otto
and the delay, right? That's what
actually causes the whole replacing him with Kristen Cole thing. And they do end up allying
with him. But like, I don't know how it's gonna play out. Is the goal it gonna be the same? Is
it all gonna be different next season? I don't know. I don't know. Are they gonna get this across
flawlessly? Are people gonna understand it? This is something that, you know, Game of Thrones
couldn't really do flawlessly.
I believe in Ryan Condal
even though I'm
tempering my expectations
for Sarah Snow.
Yeah, you've all reminded me that I have to protect
my heart. I forgot, you know, fool me once,
shame on you. Fool me twice.
We've done this before.
We have a saying in Texas.
I've seen season
one, season two, season three, season four, season five,
season six, season seven, season eight of Game of Thrones
and let me just tell you, I've seen those.
I've been hurt before.
God, what kind of made up shit are we gonna get?
I wanna, okay, first
of all, here's a wish list. I want
the 33 people like
fucking debating in essos the triarchy being like so should we help them should we not and like i
think this is just this is my ongoing theme where i'm always like i just want everyone to be in a
room and argue because that was my vision for like the green the greens council or whatever like
last last season I was like,
what if we did 12 Angry Men, but it was
the Greens?
That's not what we got. What we got was
great. I enjoyed it, but
that's what I want, but 33 people
this time. Other made-up shit.
That'd be so funny. Right?
Wouldn't it be good?
People love 12 Angry Men. What if it were 33
Angry Men? Think about it.
It's even better.
Ryan Condal, hire me.
For real, please.
This is my vision.
Councils.
Juries.
Lots of arguing and mustaches, I feel like.
And colored, brightly dyed hair.
Could be fun, actually.
Just put three dozen cross-dressing pirates in a room and have them bicker for 50 minutes.
Emmys.
Shelves of Emmys.
God, that sounds like my 20s, honestly.
Could be good.
Could be art.
Like, that's an artistic statement, I'm just saying.
I want to see some, um, Tairoshi beards actually really badly.
And if I don't get to see that in my lifetime of hot D, I could sue, I think, legally.
This is the beards episode.
I am talking about a lot of beards this episode.
Other made up shit I want to see.
Well, I guess apparently we're not getting Darren, so this was a stupid want on my part.
Sorry, y'all. see i well i guess apparently we're not getting darren so this was a stupid want on my part sorry
y'all but as we talk about the reach i was like wouldn't it be cool if we also saw like another
way that we could like just write in a random ass spectacle of like darren being the darren plot and
then lord beesbury is like yo where's my brother everyone where's my brother and they're like and then the tyrell's
also choosing to abstain right like how do you have maybe like darren tries to do some politicking
there in the reach or whatever but anyway guess not i'm i'm just silly i got silly dreams
silly girl with silly dreams and never learns exactly wow there's still time there's still
season three yeah lady stoneheart's gonna come anytime any moment oh no oh yeah next season
heard it here first we do get gwayne in this season gwayne hightower which is the funniest to me gwayne gwayne's world it's gonna be played by freddie fox who was in the great did either of you watch the you
watched the great i watched one episode and then i forgot to watch the rest i'm so sorry i'm so
sorry please still like me i have to divorce you holy fucking shit uh the great is amazing you should keep going
um but he plays someone in the great and he's a fantastic actor he's a fucking blast and in the
ew article that came out a lot after the trailer today uh olivia cook talks about him and allison
having an estranged relationship because they grew up separated from one another right she grew up in
king's landing he grew up as basically you know doing his duty as a son in the reach so i think
that's a really interesting dynamic that they'll have to kind of work together talk to one another
and that her youngest son who hasn't been shown mentioned etc has been carted off there to grow
up with her estranged brother
that could be very different and provide a very different personality for darren which he has to
be fair and we could see that play out really well yeah agreed i think darren would probably be like
what the fuck is wrong with my family though yeah yeah what if things in the Hightower are just, like, mega normal? Everything there is super fine.
And then as soon as he, like, hears or sees anything about the rest of his family, he's like, what the fuck?
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
I feel like he's probably, like, a football star.
You know what I mean?
Like, he's, like, a sports jock kind of star.
Really normal.
But not in, like, a toxic way.
He's just a cool dude.
Yeah, he's just a dude dude yeah he's just a dude bro living his
life i actually do think there are like i can see the way they introduce him and his dragon
in my mind of like just like a scene in season three an open scene where you just have the
dragon soaring overhead being beautiful in blue miss tess and he's just like looking up and he's
got his fucking blonde little shit hair going on like the targs have and we're in the reach i mean i can see it it's just when do we get it yeah i could see it
though yeah and then like when does anyone mention him on this show it'd be so funny i'm serious if
they just don't i'm just it'd be so funny then he turns to the camera and says, I'm mentally healthy.
Like a shampoo commercial, but about your mental health.
What about Rook's Rest?
When's this all going down?
What's happening with Rook's Rest?
It's happening.
I mean, it's there.
It's all over the trailers.
It's everywhere.
It's all over the foreshadowing of the season already good well apparently baylor's involved yeah which is good it gives her something to do also i get to see moon dancer so it's really good for me because
that's my favorite dragon hell yeah i wonder if like if they're doing that with baylor this season
what are they doing with reyna what's she up to? I think she's going to the Vale from the trailer.
It looks like she's going to the Vale.
Right.
So definitely going to the Vale.
I'm guessing Jace is going to negotiate that for safety or whatever.
Is she going to do some romancing?
Is she going to get a subplot of that?
Or is she going to hatch an egg?
I guess she's single.
Yeah, I think that she's gonna get a
dragon one way or another hatch it make it magic it no i'm just kidding do you think they're gonna
change sea smoke i think that they're straight up just gonna give sea smoke to adam like normal
and they're not gonna even tell us about how it works magically. Yeah. Yeah. I've
come to terms with that. Even if they, maybe we'll get a little scene of like Rhaenyra being like,
it means Lyner's past. And I think I've seen people arguing on the internet, you know, like
they like to do that about how, oh, well that makes, it means nothing that they gave Lyner
that end. And I'm like, no, it doesn't. doesn't did you read the books like did you read quentin's chapters men's lives have meaning not their deaths like
it doesn't mean nothing he got to peace out and i think that's kind of a theme right of her like
protecting her family from the worst of the war sending raina to the veil sending the boys away
um getting them out of direct harm's way especially after losing luke
like yeah granting someone that extra time to live i don't think that's useless or pointless
i mean he could still be alive right like the books don't ever explicitly say that dragons can
only be with one rider at a time it could be that sea smoke was like yeah that is just a fantasy yeah sea smoke could be like you know last season in my in the past i did two podcasts at the same time but this
time i'm gonna go focus only on this one podcast and that's adam valerian yeah yeah maybe um laner
made fun of sea smoke's soul patch one too many times. You know? Maybe they broke up.
Yeah.
Damn.
All about the facial hair, again.
A conscious uncouple- they could have had a conscious uncoupling.
We don't know how it works.
We're not Targaryens.
Or dragons.
Well, that you know of.
Oh, speak for yourself.
Um.
Sorry, sorry.
Exactly.
You know I have my pet theory about how Raynor would claim Seasmoke and then everyone's like,
oh my god, Raynor's, well, Rhaenyra's like, Raynor's dead and that's huge and everything.
But I honestly, it's my own idea and I just don't see how it fits into, you know, the
dragon logistics concerning everyone else.
Like, what's Adam going to do now?
Right.
That's true.
But I like that because
it gives a connection to laner right um and it it does a flip on season one of amand taking vagar
in a way not like completely but like you know there's somewhat of like a oh and now she's taking
a relative's dragon and it's more in memoriam instead of and it also positions reina a character who we should
probably care more about than the show is allowing us to in her role in season one uh yeah um it
gives her like a way more relevant position going into the future of the story yeah i mean reina's
the one that lives she survives she carries on the lines honestly the hightower line even
it's kind of nuts she the girls are
being brought to the forefront and I love that Bela and Reina both are getting a bigger role
and like you mentioned Eliana a lot of these secondary characters have to step to the front
because some of the first characters end up dying soon enough what um people die in this show
a lot of people die and even if they don't die their stories need to become richer and the
tapestry must expand to include these characters and well reina and bela have such rich plots in
fire and blood but just not yet and i think bringing it forward means i'll be able to
condense some of that plot into the end of the show too yeah and like i say this about reina but sort of the point of reina is that
she's able to carry on that you know continue the bloodline have a long life with marriages
and children because she's not in the war yeah yep and like what does giving her a dragon really
say that's interesting yeah they set up House Corbray existing
in the very first episode of season one at the tourney.
We see House Corbray's shield.
I think if I'm right, yeah, we do.
And then you get also a Corbray for the Kingsguard
as one of the potential Kingsguard people.
So like they are setting up the Corbrays
and that's her first marriage, I think,
is to a Corbray, right?
In the Vale that she meets in the Vale.
So maybe there's
a love arc that we'll get too maybe we're gonna get maybe rain is gonna get a little love plot
at some point that must be some nice a nice break from all the death yeah though it is though because
that's the important part to your point glidus like it's also about like this is what a world
without war looks like and people are allowed to grow and prosper.
And that through line of dragons don't plant trees, especially when they're going to war with one another.
They don't have time to plant trees because they're burning each other and trees down at that time.
Gotta be real sad about Rhaenys, man.
I'm a grandma girl.
Like, I love my Nana.
My Nana fucking rocks.
So that's gonna suck to watch and i'll feel
bad ish for corlees he's he and i are on a timeout hopefully he'll come to his senses yeah his
behavior in season one uh the whole time i just yell at the screen and i'm like you're the one
that wants the throne leave her alone yeah i do like though that that just allows him to be a sort of mirror for Damon.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm with you, too, on grieving for Rhaenys.
I'm going to hold a... I'll stand vigil for seven sleepless nights.
Oh.
For sure.
Dang.
That's probably when your videos are rendering.
Don't lie to us.
She's the voice of reason yeah which i love like for her
as a position on this show it's it's so cool that they gave her that it's weird because you don't
think she's going to be the voice of reason because she's described as such a ferocious
warrior but it makes sense because she's been through all this already she's seen it all she
she's so hard done by she has every right to be angry
and vindictive and vengeful towards all of these people and yet she's somehow
like the the least murderous person i mean it's when it comes to small folk peasants don't worry
about that but when it comes to like starting wars and like acting with political restraint she's
preaching the most sense out of anyone.
Yeah.
Which is exactly why we have to kill her.
Yeah.
For season three to happen.
She can't be around for all the fun,
is what I'm saying.
All the fun we're going to have.
Oh my God.
And without Rhaenys being an angel on her shoulder,
what's to stop her from giving you know, giving in to Daemon's
warlust?
Like, she
really has nothing. It's like, it's
Alicent or nothing at that point.
And, like, that seems pretty far
gone already. Yeah.
What's up with this reunion
that they're supposed to have or whatever?
You guys have heard about this, right? That there's a chance they're reuniting?
Yeah, what the heck? I'm sorry. No. I think they'll do it well what there's some sort okay eliana
here's the deal okay there have been rumors that they will have a meeting on dragon stone
and they will have like another war terms and obviously i reserve judgment till i actually
see it you can't judge something you haven't seen yet and i will try to go in without okay girl we know
but don't get me started with you um listen but no like i won't judge it till i see it how it's
done and i'm sure to be fair olivia cook emma darcy they'll be acting their asses off on this
one so i'm sure it'll be a fine scene but it does feel very echoey if it's a real thing
of Otto showing up with the um the old Nymeria page again and I'm just like will it work is this
something that could be a thing of Alicent pleading or Rhaenyra and Alicent both pleading to one
other stop this like hopefully it ends in a giant fight that'd be fun that'd be
fun to see give him some range yeah it's a good question what is the point of it again um to
happen all over again and also like that it is a meeting that presumably would happen much more
in private just because dragon stone is so far removed from the rest of the realm. So, the politicking of women in private.
I think it is worthwhile, at least,
to have an update on their relationship
now that, you know, they've both loved,
like, now that Luke's dead and, you know,
the blood and cheese will happen.
Yeah, can't we put this down?
Rhaenys has died.
Like, we get to, yeah yeah and we get to have another
glimpse at how their relationship has progressed due to these increasingly horrific tragedies
yeah and this was probably it you know like this is the breakup the big breakup then yeah yeah so
like when you put it like that it sounds like a crucial scene that we absolutely need
given that their relationship is like the core through line of the entire program.
Yeah, that's true.
That does make sense.
You need them for it.
Oh my god, they have to spend a season apart until that.
Yeah, I guess you're right.
That's the heart of the series.
The heart of the cards.
Oh my god.
Blue eyes, blonde Targaryen.
Is that what you're trying to call me?
Let them rip.
Wait, that's Beyblades.
Wrong one.
I didn't watch that one.
That's an interesting little rumor that came up and out of context I feel like doesn't work.
But now that we've given it a little color, a little shade, I could see it.
I could absolutely see it.
Yeah, I need to think through the circumstances that would lead to such a meeting but i'm not there yet it sounds
thematically it sounds um very relevant and we don't get the day-to-day in fire and blood that's
true yeah yeah so we've discussed rook's rest a little already and what that'll mean um something
that follows soon after rook's rust because they lose a dragon
rider is the sowing of the seeds uh apparently i did not realize how jam-packed season two is
going to be that it is probably going to include some of the dragon seeds so they're in the trailers
bro yeah there's that meeting with those three at the Dragonstone.
Yeah.
That's definitely a public event.
Alan's in the newest trailer too.
So you have Adam in that trailer.
You have Alan in the newest trailer.
That's crazy.
That's going to be,
I think that one as a public spectacle is interesting or in general,
just as a like something that is turning their personal lives into this public thing is interesting or in general just as a like something that is turning their personal
lives into this public thing is interesting because I think that Rhaenyra is going to have
to acknowledge that they're that the Hulls might be Laenor's sons and has to accept them I don't
know what her relationship is going to be like with them even though obviously we know that
they're probably not but she can't say that they're not Laenor's sons because being like, Laenor wouldn't have kids
because he was gay would also call her own children's legitimacy into question.
So she has to be like, oh, yeah, those are Laenor's sons.
He's such a womanizer.
Yeah, he loved impregnating women.
Yeah, he loves that.
Yeah, and Corlys kind of has that on her um obviously because they believe that
she is the reason Laner's dead so out of guilt which is a lot of what she does right a lot of
the stuff she's doing in this story is out of guilt Rhaenyra is definitely gonna accept it
oh my god she's just like me yeah for real and the tension wow wow now i know what to do the tension with corliss is
gonna be insane right because rainies is death it looks like will come before the dragon seeds i'd
guess it has to as you said in the books who knows they might switch it up, but I'd guess the same. So that's gonna lead to a
lot of tension with Rhaenyra and Corlys, right? In totality, Rhaenys dies in her war. Well, you
better support my, my son's sons, my grandsons. You wouldn't want to call them, you know, not his
sons, right? Yeah, I mean, I think it's gonna be it's gonna have to be like a little
bit afterwards too because i mean how do you think rainies is gonna feel being like oh
yeah my husband's children from out of wedlock get dragons how will how would rainies feel about
that in a public space so yeah and that like because that's the whole claim i mean that's what she's fighting for
for after her to succession it turns out was a great show and it's a great topic wow in this
show as well succession matters when it comes to the throne unfortunately and aegon succession
gets weaker and weaker too i mean yeah both of them have a weak succession after them, so it's really going to matter who you have and where they come from.
I was also thinking of the sowing of the seeds as well,
not just like a public spectacle, but big public sacrifice.
We haven't had a whole sacrifice or execution like that in a while.
Could be fun.
Oh, interesting.
I did think how this is a big deal to call for other people to ride their
dragons yeah obviously we get a lot of that distinction when it comes to characters like
nettles in the book but it's kind of a big deal to just go giving away dragons and letting you
take them which but it also is like it turns out a lot of people could just take the dragons and you didn't need permission and you'd have a dragon if you could do it if you could yeah
if you could turns out it was all propaganda all along and um we're not actually special
and you don't have to fear us like gods um we don't deserve oh and we shouldn't be god emperors
over the country hmm and then when the dragons die it's like oh they learn that again
also we're probably gonna see a lot of people die doing it right or at least a handful of people
die oh that'll be a fun montage won't it right oh wait what if they did do it as a montage imagine
benny hill yeah people just die you know but no sorry this is a serious show i'm sorry what am i saying
this is no piss takes eliana serious program with with characters named grover and elmo and kermis
serious show hey i mean it opened on a tyrian joke basically okay the whole show basically
other than the jhaerys intro,
Viserys is at council making like a jackass and a honeycomb joke. So it's very serious. I will say
there are some things with like Game of Thrones that you expect from a Game of Thrones show,
or type of show, and they do nail that, right? You have the brothel scenes, you have people plowing
sex workers in the background and booze everywhere. And you have like edgy red wedding moments.
And you have a little bit of humor that's placed well.
So I can imagine it actually being a little humorous.
I could imagine like cringes on Rhaenyra's face as somebody gets like burnt to death.
Oh, wait.
Oh, I was thinking of the like, when the guy's like, oh my god, my prince.
And then like, stomp from Daemon. That was a humorous, that was thinking of the, like, when the guy's like, oh my god, my prince, and then, like, stomp from Daemon.
That was a humorous, that was a humorous moment.
It's funny as hell.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's funny as hell, because it was like, ha ha ha ha, they don't care about you.
They were like, you're a metaphor.
That really, really funny moment where Rhaenys kills a thousand people by bursting through the floor that was like
reminder they're still targaryens yes you may like them but they're still targaryens eric versus aric rip rip sad yeah real sad yeah front runner i'm sure that's happening real soon
at dragon stone in the first couple of episodes uh it's in the trailers straight up like raiding
those trailers i'm like oh not even hiding that one brother versus but it's really the trailers straight up like right in those trailers I'm like oh not even hiding that
one brother versus brother but it's really well set up and I think when we watched season one
and we didn't have time to marinate on these plots right because you're turning out the apps
I don't think that I liked episode nine season one as much as I do now it has really really
grown on me and the Eric versus Aririk stuff is amazingly set up right there
they spent a lot of good time on it there's a lot of great dialogue between them and them traveling
around to locations to the brothels to different places together and talking about aegon and why
he'll be a bad king um i thought all of that was actually really well done and the inevitable
tension of them coming to blows i think that was great and i
think people hopefully will be like oh yeah that makes sense and i think it'll be great i think
it'll be sad yeah and they both have to die that's true that's two paychecks the family is losing
oh my god damn i met the actor sorry yeah do you think they're actually going to die like both of them will die at each other's sword
or maybe one of them goes a little seppuku on it we've already seen one king's guard threaten that
kristen cole was like ready to go in season one before his savior allison showed up oh i like that
it's like the the immense pain of having slain my brother i must now I can't go on I have to die
yeah
I'm actually interested to see
how these twins will be twinning
or losing together
seeing how it's actually played
we just know like oh they both died
in each other's arms after dying from their
mortal wounds but like
I don't know we don't have siblings
do you have siblings do you have
siblings I have three older brothers oh my god okay wow could you imagine never mind that's too
real because I was like would you kill your brothers no this is an abstract concept for
both me and Chloe so we think it's fine to ask people this question that we realize that's
actually highly inappropriate I'm sorry I just don't think that I could walk up to my sibling
and just stab them or set my dragon on them
to set them on fire.
No, I imagine that that would be considerably more difficult
for me than doing it with someone I've never met before,
I guess.
Yeah.
Not that I would be prone to doing that in the first place.
Yeah, Gleitis, come on our podcast.
Tell us, how do you feel about murder if you did it?
How would you kill your brothers?
How would you kill a stranger than how would you kill your brothers?
It's going good.
Sorry.
Thank you for coming on our podcast.
I'm sorry.
Thank you for hosting this podcast.
That's okay.
Anytime.
As Rhaenyra said, now they see you as you really are
for who we really are yeah i don't get it i don't get that so maybe they'll have a different way of
dying than we think maybe they run off together like leonore i'd take it i mean i actually
wouldn't mind oh that's interesting that'd be sweet faking their dads being like yo fuck this
i don't know if the show would pull that trick twice, though.
Yeah, probably not, but...
I wouldn't expect it to happen twice, so why not?
That would be the truly unsurprising thing.
Oh my god, they did it again!
Wow, I never saw that coming.
How could they give a Shara Daines plot to them, too?
It's so rude.
Looking forward to a ton of stuff in this season that we've talked about as we get
kind of the end of the episode what eliana would you say is the thing of spectacles that you're
most excited to see on screen uh i really do think it's gonna be like the greens reaction
to blood and cheese because like i said I just think I'm really excited to see that family
get more character development
because
they're just such a mess.
That's the one that I'm
looking forward to the most because again
I think that Tom Glincarney has it in him
to give us a really good performance
and villain.
How about you, Chloe and Gleitus?
What besides Winterfell are you looking
forward to, Glytis?
I mean, if we're talking about just
spectacle, it has to be Rook's Rest.
Oh, okay. Oh yeah, Rook's Rest.
Yeah. It's gonna be so
much fun to watch. It's gonna be
horrific and tragic
and so cool
as well. We haven't had a full
army battle scene like that yet.
It's going to be huge.
It's going to be huge, I think,
from what we've seen in the trailers
and some of the stuff on set that I heard about.
It's like, I mean, look,
you do not have to hand it to Kristen Cole
because he gets handed it by Agen.
But, sorry, let me correct that.
I don't want to give him the hand job.
No, that doesn't work either.
Fuck Kristen Cole. No, don't do that one either. See what happened last time? No, don me correct that. I don't want to give him the hand job. No, that doesn't work either. Fuck Kristen Cole.
That works.
I like that one.
Don't do that one either.
See what happened last time.
No, don't fuck him.
No, bad idea.
Doesn't work.
I hate the guy.
But I think he's going to be so fun to hate.
Yeah.
And I look forward to my downfall of loving that.
Loving to hate him.
Interesting.
And then my descent into
loving aegon too um as i've mentioned to eliana before and others before that listen definitely
support team black sam but like sam the show is like turning me a little and it's hard because
i'm like i love team black but my favorite characters are amen targaryen aegon ii targaryen alicent i'm like what's going on with me uh yeah still
team black but i'm uh green curious i guess you know green curious or green furious interesting
interesting they're fun they're fun because you know you have aemond the shonen villain you have amand the shonen villain you have aegon too who's like wow thank you for appreciating
that yeah thank you for noticing i just think aegon too has like all those great aesthetic
you know those kind of like traits of just like i don't want to be king and now i have to because
i'm being told i have to oh wait i love the way being king makes me feel oh wait oh god oh god why did I become king
I'm falling through the sky oh god
I'm almost dead but not dead
oh god I wish I was dead and like I love
that part like that whole like downfall
to the I wish I were dead
which real so real
same but that's good
that right there is so good
and to see them nail it love that for him
yeah to see Sunfire and him just like go through it this season and then go through it.
It's going to be interesting over the next seasons.
Actually, though.
Yeah.
Aftermaths of Rooks for Us and very interesting.
Yeah.
And Moondancer.
That's all I care about.
I love Moondancer, man.
Yay.
I'm going gonna be real sad
someday oh thanks so much for joining us glidus we had a blast with you i'm sorry about telling
you to murder your brothers or whatever i said um sorry we don't work on that for next time we
don't know what it's like we just don't we're only children obviously
fair enough I can't expect anything more from you
we're just you know
I think maybe you could
Gleidas let everyone know
one more time where they can find you
out there on the internet
you can find me at Gleidas
on YouTube
that's me and I upload other
stuff to Glimbus,
is my second channel.
And that's basically
all you need to know. Look, I put music
on Spotify. I'm TheBekkerKing.
That's my solo project. I love
Viserys, by the way.
And my band
is called Materia. We do
rock shit with
the wrong instruments.
No, what does that mean? What did I
miss about when I was listening to your music?
What did I misunderstand about?
Oh, did you not pick this up? There's no guitar
and there's no bass. I'm not
sophisticated like that. We have
a mandolin and a violin instead.
Oh, interesting.
Yeah, that's weird.
Yeah. Yeah, we'll link these below.
Go check them out.
