Starting point is 00:00:00 A least-snap production. Activate your internet. Because the Hamish and the Podcast starts in three, two. Sorry, still buffering. One. What's crack-a-aluck and everyone? I'm fantastic. My mind's not on it.
Starting point is 00:00:27 It's like I haven't turned a hindi's mic on. What a beautiful, brilliant start to the new podcast. Jack. Jack, that's two errors. One that was technically off air. And one that was on air. This would be beautiful. You'll be happy to know that it's all on air.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Whatever comes there, be sure to be right. You'll be happy to know that it's on now. Whatever comes there. No, we happy to know that was just an internal listening error. So your my time I did start. Yeah, so what my what's crackl lacking everyone did that made it. So we've been here. We just couldn't we just couldn't hear it in here Never can obviously would you agree though Jackets Hill counts as an error. It is an error But who's gonna fire us the radio station? Is that the attitude though? We are doing this for podcast one, so we still have some level of cooperation. Well, it is a podcast, do you want to start again? Well no, there's no point. You can't turn the car around. This podcast is a forward-moving vehicle.
Starting point is 00:01:20 I was test driving what's cracker-lacking. You've come not fully. I'm not trying any confidence there. I mean, we wouldn't have complained anyway. I just didn't bring it up because I didn't think it went to air. But you're pleased don't you, that it. No, no, it's not going to happen again. I just had to replace good afternoon everyone. So I'm going to trial one each week at different kind of until we find something that we like.
Starting point is 00:01:38 But you're definitely aligned through that. Well, I'm glad that was the first one because even if done confidently, if it's a thing you said a lot, I'm glad that was the first one because even if done confidently, or if it's a thing you said a lot, I don't think it would ever have become a intro. No, I don't think so. It was like sort of when they open up a water slide park and the least popular member of staff has to go down first to test it the slide. So
Starting point is 00:02:00 you did that one first, because it was no great loss. That true. I crossed that one off first. That is the fun fact that is that's what they do with those things. We're going to get A into the podcast, but B, bring everyone up to speed. I guess in the first, the immediate changes that are going to be different because this is no longer a radio show. This is just a podcast. First things first, again, not an audio thing, but a visual thing.
Starting point is 00:02:24 How do we feel about the tracksuit? Yeah, it's good. We're all in matching tracksuits for the podcast. First things first, again, not an audio thing, but a visual thing. How do we feel about the tracksuit? Yeah, yeah, it's good. We're matching tracksuits for the podcast. Don't know why, but it does. It just felt like we needed a uniform podcast. Sense routine. And then the other thing, I know Jackson comes to feel about it because he feels they're too branded because people will see a photo of this online and it's obviously a specific brand of tracksuit. Well, that it is. Yeah, I mean, you can't, but we're awesome. and Jack just goes, this is too much. It looks like we've, for that particular brand. It looks like we're selling out.
Starting point is 00:02:48 But also happy to go for a track suit, so. Yeah, but like, okay, or Nike. Nike, Nike, Reebok. I mean, we might switch tracksuit sponsors. If Sveena steps up and goes, hey guys, we still have a lot of parachute stuff from the 90s. Yeah, that'd be cool.
Starting point is 00:03:02 We're Sveeta tracksuits. Old day or night. That's a good, good, good good, that's a good call. But I mean, I like, I think we've gone with them because that feels futuristic with different colors. I feel like we're stunt men. Yeah. I'm happy with it.
Starting point is 00:03:12 The other thing is, we're not obviously driving towards a song or an ad break. Yeah. Jack used to fire off songs when he was sick of us chatting. Yeah. And so we've thought of a different solution this time round where... We need something to wrap it up. If we feel like something's over, we're just gonna...
Starting point is 00:03:31 We have a bell. Ring a bell and move on to the next thing. The only rule of the podcast. So, Ring that bell again, that mic wasn't on. Oh, you're the worst. You're the absolute worst. Regretting our policy of retaining 100% stuff. Right, is that what we're going down?
Starting point is 00:03:50 I think that's one. So we've all, it's good about, we can't play around with them because the rules to be observed at all times in this podcast is you hear the bell, can I move on? We'll move in. First thing we want to do,
Starting point is 00:04:00 look, it is the people show, we put up a little bit of value, a little form that was a valued and important podcast of form at HamishNay.com. Thousands of people have already signed up. We appreciate that immensely. What a holly. And we thought it's important to have the people's voice in the very first podcast.
Starting point is 00:04:18 We thought we wanted to start with something profound though, him. We didn't think that we were. We didn't think that we were. We didn't think that we were. Wouldn't it be great? Because this is the start of a brand new chapter. Wouldn't it be great? Because this is the start of a brand new chapter. Wouldn't it be great if the very first thing that a people of the person's podcast,
Starting point is 00:04:30 a person of the people's podcast? A person of the people's podcast. Wouldn't it be great if the very first words heard on the podcast, yeah, were up right up there with one small step for man. Kind of thing. So we wanted someone that judging off their form that we have at homiechennie.com,
Starting point is 00:04:47 everyone's welcome to go and fill it out and become a more involved member of the podcast in community. Someone that was striking us as capable of saying something profound. Yes. Look, I straight away a couple jumped out at me. James here, James from the UK,
Starting point is 00:05:04 but that's OK because this is a global podcast. And we welcome our international VIPs. You guys got two middle, a ticket to his middle name's a Hercules and Lion, respectively. That's profound. I registered their names without my wife's consent. She wasn't having the first time,
Starting point is 00:05:18 but she was resigning herself to it the second time. So I like James because he's bold. Oh yeah. And he's bold and he's not scared to take risks. And that could be the guy to say something profound for us. I really like James because he's bald. Oh yeah. And he's bald and he's not scared to take risks and that could be the guy to say something profound for us. I really like James. Um, I'm going to skip Metoko.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Oh boy. So if you're listening to this, Metoko, deepest apologies, you know, you got close. He speaks fluent Japanese. Well you're skipping her or not Well, the reason I'm skipping her is because she she has taught her budgie to speak in three languages And I wondered whether we wanted the first voice to be a budgie speaking in Japanese That sends insulting to the people to be like we thousands registered already We only put this form up a few days ago and we gave it to a job
Starting point is 00:06:03 I would do a bird A Japanese speaking bird. You'll be giving it to James over in Matoca. Like a bird. What about this from Jordan? Okay. Now, you just tell me if this seems like the kind of guy that could say something profound. I'm looking for an eclectic person here.
Starting point is 00:06:18 He goes, I bought myself a Coca-Cola vending machine for my 21st birthday. I bypassed the coin mechanism so you don't have to pay. I almost became a piano cheater. I haven't watched Game of Thrones. It didn't try to homestay I was 26 and I used Tinder to find a relationship,
Starting point is 00:06:31 not hookups. Okay. Which is, I mean, he's got a lot of things. He's done a lot of things. He didn't try to homestay I was 26. So there's a guy that even a quarter of the way through his life, let's hope. For that, this says to me that he's an experienced.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I mean, we don't want someone that's experienced for a profound meaning. I seem like someone that can break out of ruts to me. Okay. Have at least then him. Final one to Tinder for a profound meaning. I mean, most of these stuff actually with James, so if you haven't done,
Starting point is 00:06:59 I almost became a piano gym and I haven't watched kind of the runs. This is Rachel. She's a brown belt in the front. This is Rachel. She did Brown Belt in MMA. Yeah. And she has this tattoo. Oh, jeez. She's got the cool boys in the front mount tattoo.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Yeah. Well, I mean, that's dedication. Yes. For people that weren't aware in the last week of last year's radio show, Jack got the full band tattooed and the acronym CBATFM. And we all did portraits of each other, we all got tattoos for portraits of each other. We're hand-rawned small faces, I mean it's not we didn't go shading or 3D. No, hand-rawned small faces to a level of a three-year-old.
Starting point is 00:07:40 But she's got the tattoo and I think that's dedication, that's the person I think should be given a chance to do the profound beginning. It's actually a little, at least a six year old. I mean, no three year olds could do that. Okay. I can find motor skills, because they're very small heads. I'm gonna put her forth, who do you want? We're gonna put Jay, I'm just gonna put Jordan forward,
Starting point is 00:07:57 because I think he's got a lot of things that he's done. And if he hasn't done all that stuff, like he's got time to think, okay, he's got time to think of something profound. Well, out of those two, we'll work out after this break and we're trying to track him down. We'll work out which one is gonna be given the honor. Do you wanna do the bill?
Starting point is 00:08:15 Tch. It works, it works, ding the ding. BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM We're back. We're back. All right. Here's what we've got. We've managed to track both our representatives down. We have Jordan and Rachel. On the phone, they can hear us at the moment, but they won't be able to speak back, because we want the first word said by the people of the people's show,
Starting point is 00:08:37 by the representative of the people that we choose here and are the Jordan or Rachel. We want the first word said on this podcast by the people to be profound. Yeah, we're looking at the level of one small step for man. That would be ideal. Now I know, look, Neil probably had days to think about that.
Starting point is 00:08:54 I don't think that was improvised. Who knows? He had something else he was gonna go with, like made it or whatever. Or actually, you know, but he didn't. He did the right thing in the moment and humanity was better off for it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:09:08 No pressure, but that is sort of what we're looking for. Here for the podcast, some sort of profound statement by the people. Now, here's what we decided to do. We got two people listening to this. We're going to pick one. We're going to give the other person to acknowledge the fact they got so close to being the person
Starting point is 00:09:24 that said the profound thing. They're the person who chance to come on afterwards and critique the other person to acknowledge the fact they got so close to being the person that said the profound thing. They're the person that chance to come on afterwards and critique the first person's profound moment. So this is the first time Jordan and Rachel are hearing this again when you're gonna put their faders up. We don't only hear them yet because the first words spoken, we need them to be profound. Hey, who do you wanna go with?
Starting point is 00:09:41 Well, look, we've discussed this as we were getting everyone together. Jordan, whilst he does seem like a mixed bag and the kind of guy that would come out with something profound, it feels only right that we have to honor the fact that someone got our band's name and faces tattooed on their body and give the chance to Rachel. So Rachel, we still can't hear you, Rachel, but we're going to play a bit of an intro here. Yep. And after that, we're going to pull the fader up, Rach. And what we need from you is you just say something profound.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yep. To kick off the first voice ever on the podcast. But hopefully we'll be on hats, t-shirts, mugs, t-tails. Absolutely, for the end of time. Yeah. Until the end of time, sorry. Until the end of time. Not just for the end of time. Yeah, we'll be in value out of it all the way up to the end of the time Until the end of time. Not just for the end of time.
Starting point is 00:10:26 It value out of it all the way up to the end of the time. We have to wait till that day. With a new door for the podcast, Hamish and Andy turn to the people for a profound beginning. With great power, comes great responsibility. And today, it rests on the shoulders of With great power, comes great responsibility.
Starting point is 00:10:45 And today, it rests on the shoulders of... Rachel. These next words will set the trajectory for the life of this podcast. What philosophical, insightful, and inspiring words await. It's now over to you. Rachel, for the profound beginning. All I have to say is happy birthday, Andy. Yes!
Starting point is 00:11:20 He loved it, right? He loved it. And he just had another sloth that he's his cake that he made me make him today. Oh dear. Oh, he's in the bell. No. Byruch. No, no, no. We can't continue this.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Yeah. Hey, and we haven't had the podcast for about three months. We haven't had this been a tumultuous time for, look, one guy, particularly in our group, Jack, because he's reliance on Bitcoin. So, you are, of all the people we know, you're the biggest investor. How many do you hold, Jack?
Starting point is 00:11:57 Well, I got rid of some, sadly. But we're down to four. You had eight. No, yeah, we had seven and then we hanged and convinced me to sell one. I said sell it at 10,000. You bought it for $300. That's in just in case it's made up internet money
Starting point is 00:12:15 of apparatus. We hate you for that. So much, doesn't it? It's the best thing I've ever done for you. And I tell you what, when they dropped down to seven, I wasn't getting much hate from Jack. Went down to $7,000. Well, it's the point.
Starting point is 00:12:24 People who don't know the cryptocurrency, it's been bouncing around I went down to $7,000. It'll be weeks ago. Well, it's the point. People who don't know the cryptocurrency, it's been bouncing around. It got to $25,000. That's when Jack was right and high. He was walking middle taller. He was skipping into work. And last December, when was it $25,000? We're like, you think you've selling any.
Starting point is 00:12:37 And Jack's very much a school thought that he reckons it's going to 100,000. Yeah. That's why I wasn't worried about not having another job. Yeah, exactly. When we finished on the radio, it's like, yeah, if we had this why I wasn't worried about not having another job. Yeah, exactly. When we finished on the radio, like, I had this conversation with Jack just seems to not, like we went off and we were like, all right, well we're working on a TV show, you know, we'll find other things to do.
Starting point is 00:12:53 We're like, Jack seems to have zero interest in any future employment. He literally was really on the… He's building a house. I think he just thinks Bitcoin's going to go to $1 million a coin. He's never going to have to work again. Now, that obviously hasn't been the reality, you've been forced to sell a little bit of your stash. That's right, and to pay for life.
Starting point is 00:13:10 And it has been a bad summer for Bitcoin, it has gone down. And so we text you Jack and I said, hey look, I think it'd be good to get a bit of that emotion, how do you body? Do you know the best way to share emotions through song? I, I try, I know you wake up every morning. Like, if I asked you now, you'd be able to say
Starting point is 00:13:29 what the price of Bitcoin is at the moment. Right. I do check it every day. Do it in $100. Check weeks of every morning and checks it. Yep. Now, I check, I check the price of Bitcoin. I don't even realize how much I check it.
Starting point is 00:13:40 But on, on Google, it goes suggested websites. Like, these are the top ones you visit. The search Bitcoin to AUD is one of my key searches because I have no Bitcoin, but I'm fascinated by the price. I'm fascinated, and I think of Jack all the time. I'm fascinated. It's kind of like I've got access to Jack's bank account. So I'm like every day.
Starting point is 00:13:58 I can look, it's like I've got his comeback account, and I can just look inside and see where he's at. Well Jack, we thought we could take us on the ride that has been the Bitcoin crash in your situation. And I should have brought in the acoustic guitar and sing a song. Now, will this song work for people that don't own Bitcoin as an interesting insight into those that do? Yes, because actually, this is a life lesson that can, it's universal.
Starting point is 00:14:24 It doesn't have to be for just Bitcoin. It's a parable. Yeah, maybe parable. And I think it will surprise you, the direction of the song. But I sat down and thought when Bitcoin crashed, how did I honestly feel? And this is what I came up with overnight. So... Apologies to Yamaha as well that I don't have any Yamaha.
Starting point is 00:14:44 He's not. He's not. So I tried to weave his sponsor in. Apologies to Yamaha as well that I don't have any Yamaha to use the title. So I've tried a wee response here. Well, at least we know this when we played at the proper speed and not on one of Yamaha's. Slow guitar. Notauriously slow and cumbersome. In sort of minutes.
Starting point is 00:15:02 All right, a song about... Dude, they even have to be very dramatic. No Ava and have to venture that. No one would have thought to check. You had a spot to guitar. Okay. Alright, this is my feelings after Bitcoin has gone down significantly. What's the point of being rich? Your house is too big and you got too many cars to drive
Starting point is 00:15:25 Why not get rid of material possessions And focus on just living your life I'm sure that you heard before That happiness can't be purchased with cash You won't be surprised to hear I smiled from ear to ear when Bitcoin Cray I am so happy I am so happy I am so happy that that happened to me Don't shit on me
Starting point is 00:15:58 I am so happy I am so happy that that happened to me Give him a life I, give him to charity. Give him to charity. So next time you lose a bunch of money, realize that it's actually a good thing that it's gone. The rap club. The breakdown. It's like voice to mid.
Starting point is 00:16:16 The fuck, Dennis Leary. Like forgetting to turn off Dada Roman when you're traveling overseas. Yeah, I guess. I am so happy that that happened to me Like making a withdrawal from an ATM But walking away without the money I am so happy that that happened to me Like investing in the speculative market
Starting point is 00:16:36 And losing 70% of earnings in three weeks I'm so happy that that happened to me I am so happy No, he's not I am so happy No one knows I am so happy that that happened to me Oh, you're not I am so happy No, he's not I am so happy No, I am so happy That that happened to me That is a good thing
Starting point is 00:16:52 Now it's not That is a good thing I am so thankful for that Wow Our first acoustic and our first big lie of a song Yes The... Wow, wow. Our first acoustic and our first big lie of a song. Yes. The... The name Denial is one of the four degree fees he's in stage. He's in stage, very...
Starting point is 00:17:11 I think I'm not in stage. I'm not in stage one. I think he's in stage one. We can have a song for every stage. We'll tune into episode 22 of the podcast, but Jack's finally the acceptance song. I'm not happy, and I wish I didn't put all my money in something that goes up and down by 100% a day.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Then joy is gonna join us next to everybody. Okay. Okay. Hey my colleague of ours, someone we used to rock with. I didn't frequently. And ex-bandmate. And ex-bandmate launched his album during the week, and Nation for tour last week was,
Starting point is 00:17:49 it's out now, everybody. Vance Joy joins on the line. Vance, welcome back. Thank you so much. It's great to be backing with you guys. Yeah, well, I mean, obviously the highs of cool boys and the frontman at Margaret Corderina, it was right for you to take a few months off before. Are you still like us buzzing from that gig, Vance? I wish that I could say that I had no album written up to that point
Starting point is 00:18:14 and I played that gig and I was like, you know what, I'm gonna try and make it sit down. There was some song written before then, but it did give me a lot of motivation and it was definitely a career home. Did you change any of the tracks on Nation of Two after that gig? And is there the much rumored secret track of we are the champions of this? I noticed on the disc the actual CD runs for 200 minutes is there an hour or so of silence and it's right at the end.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Super secret track. Yeah, it's a big, whatever you call, like it says a lot of data and they didn't want me to make it that long but we did it. It's CD cost $200 for print. Then, Steve, with the whole CD thing, at like, yeah, how many are we printing these days? Like, you've had a billion streams. So so the guys in the CD department of your record label must know they're not going to match that.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Yeah, I went to a little JB Hi-Fi, it was like a little, I think a little showcase there and there was CD. So it's always something special about holding the actual CD and the actual lyric book. But I don't know, I think actual lyric booklet. But I don't know, I think there might have been, I don't know, maybe 50s. Yeah. Yeah, what's a platinum CD? These days 100. 100 CD. 100 CD. You get the little gold one. I think it's only the CD association. Thank you so much. We'll bring carrot people to go out there and get the booklet.
Starting point is 00:19:45 And the booklet. It's Paired Beauty by an Aceda. You might still have a CD, Paired Beauty. It's Dari, chuck it in your Xbox, you play a station, still have a play audio CD. It does Pair nicely with the true story, DVD, of which we regrettably put and foolishly made physical copies of Then you and I have you a beer over the holiday break
Starting point is 00:20:11 And it got quite late and we'll turn the coast and you just went out of the blue You were thinking you're staying and I you went I got to go isn't your house? Yeah, you went smart no fans Bands carry smart move I got to go. Oh, all right After you know, so there's no door knobs on any of the the insides of the doors, just before that shots, I'm gonna get out of here. Vance said, I gotta go. And I said, what, what do you, I said, I call you, no, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:20:35 And I said, why, you said, I've gotta go home and stress about the release of this album. What did you do? Like, did you go home and stress about it? There's nothing out here for my house. We had a great night with the fans. Yeah, what did you do? Like did you go home and stress about it? There's not another camera for my house, we had a great night. Yeah, I did go home and stress. I think I, earlier that day, I got some emails and there was a,
Starting point is 00:20:54 I was just getting told what the new single would be and I was like, I don't know, is this the right single to lead me and all of the stuff. And I was like, no, I'm going to go to Andy's, have a beer, black. And then I think about midnight, we would, we started getting philosophical and the star buff and I was like, no, I'm going to go to Andy's, have a beer. Black. And then I think in about midnight, we started getting philosophical and the spar buff. And I was like, mm-hmm. I'm stressing. And so I was like, I have to get out of there.
Starting point is 00:21:12 But it was a good day. So even with a beer and a spar, you were still stressed. There's nothing else. Andy's got it. He's awesome. If that's not going to be stress, you're off the property, mate. What is Vance going back to his house and stressing about things look like? Do you pace? Do you punch? Do you have a bunching bag?
Starting point is 00:21:34 Do you have a stressful? What I do, I think it is. Driving is the music out in the car that I like to listen to. I like to back. I like to listen to, I like to rap. I like to listen to Drake and Childish Gambino raps and just, I know them off my heart and that kind of makes me feel like, if I'm a bit stressed out, I feel like the secret bad art in rap. A boss. You wouldn't do that, Nanny's, but.
Starting point is 00:21:58 What's the cricket? You don't spit rhymes. Up out if you want to do that. I was in the bushes. You rap it over there. Up out if you want to do that. I was in the bushes. You wrap it over there. That is true. It's a bit... I only rule. And wait half an hour after reading.
Starting point is 00:22:14 And no, wrapping. Then we want to finish up with a little test. You know, how well do you know your music? You want all of us to... I mean, you know to go out and get it. You know Drake, you know Childish Gambino, you're encouraging people to buy the plastic-cased lyrics books with the bonus CD. We're gonna play you the tiniest bits of your songs.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Could be from this album, could be from Masha's too. Can you pick it? All right, I know we're on a little bit of a crackly line, so that won't help you, but Jack Farrow, the first one. That's late on me. Oh, he's ahead of the traps as well. And absolutely shattering the rumors that you do see on other message boards that Vance is deaf and someone else plays the music.
Starting point is 00:23:00 There's no way you could have cheated that. OK. So take that internet. I'm sick of your negativity. It's not true. OK, here's the next one. OK. OK. Wow.
Starting point is 00:23:13 That's so hard. Cheeky. You want a slightly longer version? If possible, without giving it too much of a... OK. Look, I'm going to put in many two songs, and I call it a bit wrong. Is it where we start or cause an evening? It was neither.
Starting point is 00:23:32 It was neither. It was on the incline. It was a deep cut off the new album. Oh, we got you. It's difficult because it's that sort of A sharp to E minor. Yeah, whatever. Let's go with the final one here. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Oh, he's big. You're right. It's interesting. What? I mean, bands obviously, you, me and Andy, are all very good guitarists. But for non-guitarists, what was it in that music? Probably the fact that it's not yours, but what's the giveaway there? What's typically Ed that's not fans?
Starting point is 00:24:10 Well, I guess you spend all that time writing a song, so you actually recognize the songs and you hear them. That just didn't sound like my playing. That sounded a bit more like, and maybe not bad, but a bit more Tokyo or something. Different finger progression. Bit better. Bit better. Sound like a guy that was just trading
Starting point is 00:24:29 initially off his relationship with one direction. Yeah. And then then standing on his own two feet is a solo artist. Banjo. You got advance, well done. Mate, we'll leave it there. Congratulations mate.
Starting point is 00:24:38 The album is sensational. Nation of two. It's out now. vansjoy.com world tour. Because this podcast is, I got plenty of people around the world listening to the moment. So they'll be able to check out the tickets
Starting point is 00:24:49 and availability for you around the world and I hear you going all around the globe. Europe and then American and back in Canada, sir. I'll send all around the globe, no Greenland, no Africa. But pretty good to have, hey, Van, so we still call each other Bubby, or was that a last-year thing?
Starting point is 00:25:14 Actually, I heard you say Bubby earlier. Yeah, definitely. I mean the amount of people that are like have really like really embraced Bubby as a word and all that time invested in Bubby It's got to keep going said I'd like to, and I got it. I love you back. And never felt, never felt so heat on. And I love it. I love you too, Robbie. I love you too very much. Deepest love to Robbie.
Starting point is 00:25:37 See you there. See you there. Love you more. Thank you. Bye. Hey, new year's eve... ...story. Topical?
Starting point is 00:25:50 No, the rule is... ...first show back. Yeah, it's like no white pants after Labor Day. And you can still talk about new years before Easter. So I've just flipped it here. I've got to just after midnight, right? And I went to like a joint function thing like a party news eve.
Starting point is 00:26:09 No, it was like a, it wasn't just pals, it was like let's all go to this reveal. Oh, so you have any news, right? Yeah. Let's go to this hotel. And so everyone's bit booze, it was about 12.30. And this guy comes up to me and goes, he had fans join his party.
Starting point is 00:26:23 Yeah. And goes, he had Vance join his bar. And goes, hey, Andy, he got to help me out. And this other guy goes, oh, I can't leave him alone. Leave him alone, and I say, this is a classic, so invested in my business. So he says to me, look, can you marry my girlfriend and I right now? No, I said, no. So see you wearing your ships captain. Beautiful. I
Starting point is 00:26:48 Can legally because I'm a ships captain, but I'm not going to because I'm off the clock. I said no, no, I'm not I'm not a silver. It's not legal. I think I think you have to be sober. Yeah getting married I think that's one of the rules in Australia. You have to be sound body in mind. And I said, you even engaged. He's like, no. So, well, I also think that's- Consent right up there. That's the step.
Starting point is 00:27:12 You should probably- So, I'm putting it, it's not a wizard casting a spell on someone I don't like do it whether they know it's happening or not. No, or just- Yeah, it can't just zapper from behind and go, you married, do you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:22 So, I said that, I can ask for your first step, but I said before you run off and do that right now on the impulse, I'd recommend, bit old school, maybe even to sleep tonight off, wake up, see how you feel, and even ask permission for the parents. Yeah, very, very good. So then, he's, and then Frank arrives,
Starting point is 00:27:38 this is the guy that originally you're that, and he's like, Con, it's not worth it, it's not worth it, stop it, stop it. And I said, guys, what's going on? And Frank goes, Con's girlfriend stops it, it's not worth it, stop it, stop it. And I said, guys, what's going on? And Frank goes, the cons girlfriend stops it with him. And he reckons that quickly getting married to her now. We'll solve it.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Of our stop-ups. I said, oh, well, that's new info. I don't think there's a good move, Con. I reckon just marriage as a band-aid. Even with months run up is a bad idea, but as an instant drunken midnight new year's Eve band-aid. So I said, one of the worst band-aids you can have. I said, Con, I don't think I know in this now
Starting point is 00:28:16 and she's real up to me, she goes, oh mate, yeah, absolutely spitting that at me, but I need to pull her back and eat some, some white. And I said, well, this isn't it, just sleep it off, have a go tomorrow, try and patch it up. A bunch of flowers. Club E, a worth exploring. He's like, good call, good call.
Starting point is 00:28:31 So all right guys, I'm eating off. Good luck, right? Went to the toilet, came back out, guesses on the mic. Oh no. Colin, down on one knee and proposed. And she said yes. So after all the good chat and yeah, this is a good idea.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Let's see. I walked in. He's obviously gone. No, you know what? I need something big here. I need a game changer. So if you're listening, Conn and I think it was Stacy.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Andy wants to marry you. Good luck. Andy just let me be a bit of paper saying I will marry them. I'm doing it. Andy's like, Andy's like, ask me now on air. I do not.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Well, gentlemen, I don't want it to get to the end of the podcast without discussing what I view to be one of the big issues at the moment. I don't know if this is a straightforward. Well, no, it's probably Australia. It's very local to Australia. There's an outside chance. There's a mirrored situation happening in New Zealand. Sometimes these things go hand in hand in the Asia Pacific region.
Starting point is 00:29:30 I'm talking about chicken nuggets. The no surprises to any one here. I'm sure you guys are aware. 24 nuggets for 9.95 is back. That's from McDonald's. I wasn't aware. What did you say? 24 nuggetsugs for 995 is back. This is what kicked off the Nug War all those years ago. If history is anything to go by, history repeats, we'll see hungry jacks then introducing 990 Nug, 24 Nug. They did that last time, I've gone by 5 cents. So they've...
Starting point is 00:29:59 And most major chicken retailers will then, in the convenience food space, we'll jump on board and begin offering two dozen nugs for under a tenor. So we think, it's essentially McDonald's started a war again. They fired the first salvo. I think I have, I think I'd like to talk about today is to do with the McDonald's campaign. It's a giant billboard, that's what near our house, there's an endo, snap the photo of it. I want to pass it to you guys now.
Starting point is 00:30:28 This is the McDonald's. And like I said, apologies to the other retailers here now. Here's the thing, it's pretty standard, 24 chicken nuggets, 9.95 is half the billboard. The other half is the 24 pack spilt over.
Starting point is 00:30:41 Yeah, why did they do that? That's what I want to talk about. Now people might have seen this billboard around. So it's obviously the 24 pack of nugs and then two bowls of sauce which you know is a lie because they can in the plastic containers would understand for promotional purposes. You have to pretend that people get this sauce out and put it in small bowls. I do. I do. I always go home. I always go home. I'm like, no, I mean, that would just be even too heavy for Andy to do that. No, God no.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Well anyway, so we're getting a pass on that because of course it's an ad, I'm not going to have a go for that. What I wanted to talk to you guys about, and I've actually got a bunch of our valued and important podcasters, our VRP's up there listening to this at the moment, they have expressed an interest or a proficiency in nuggets, and it's part of filling out the form which you can do at www.hammishnow.com. If you want to be involved in the show,
Starting point is 00:31:28 they're listening. And we've got the capacity to go to those people. To talk about this, it's the fact that it's tipped over. Now, I don't know where I sit on this. I don't know if I love this campaign or if I'm a poll buyer. Can I explain what we mean by tipped over? Normally there's a box of nuggets.
Starting point is 00:31:43 You have that box upright. We would convey. That's the tip over? Normally there's a box of nuggets, you have that box upright. That's the whole reason they serve it in a box it's because it's a literally, I can tame it. Or can tame it. Yes, to contain those nuggets. And if this someone's come to the table and just poured the box inside and let the nuggets just rum freely over the table
Starting point is 00:32:00 and so he can eat at a faster pace. First question, I can't tell it's a completely white service. If that's paper, that makes it slightly less of a crime. Yes, if you're eating in at Mac as you sling the fries out and they go on the trail liner, I understand that happens. The problem I have with this, and the reason I think I'm earing more towards a pull rather than love it, is because it's the number one way
Starting point is 00:32:23 to cool you know, get stamped, is to get more airflow around the whole point of keeping in the boxes. rather than love it is because it's the number one way to cool your nuggets down. Yeah. Is to get more air flow around the whole point of keeping in the boxes. Yes, I know it's not a firmly insulated box. It doesn't have a silver lining or a foil lining, but you've got a bit of shot. You've got a bit of shot of keeping the nuggets together like barbecue hot rocks. They can heat each other, they can huddle in there and they, because you've got 24 to get through.
Starting point is 00:32:41 All right, Nug 20, from, with this method, 16 onwards. Yep. The last few year eating, you're just like, well, I hate myself, but I'm doing this. So let's just finish this thing off. Exactly. Now, and would you do that on a table? Would you?
Starting point is 00:32:55 I don't know if you would. What maybe? What am I going to do? You're not mackers is trying to say, maybe, I'm trying to get in the mind of the market is here. They've gone right. What we're trying to say with the tip of Movery is you've got 24 who cares. You've got so many nugs you don't know what to do with them. You
Starting point is 00:33:09 should feel on them everywhere. But is that the message you want to send? Shouldn't each nugby as valuable as the next nug? Doesn't this encourage some sort of nug flippancy that you don't care about each individual nugget. Sammy, who's a self-proclaimed nug guru on our VIP list. Sammy, have you ever similar to fries, how you kind of toss them all out in a table or? Never toss nugs on a table? Oh boy, boy. Oh, Sammy, thank you, man. I'm so sorry for the point.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Jack as well, he's still employed here, I'm not sure. Thanks Sammy, man. Yeah, you wouldn't know, it's the first podcast. But yeah, we had a terrible, terrible time from him earlier in the show, horror beginning. He kicked it off with his fake set. Absolutely beginning horror billis, but he's still employed. Two answer questions, Amy.
Starting point is 00:33:53 And then, you're aware of the picture in question? I'm very worried. I'm looking at it right now. Oh, what? Right. I mean, I made sure this was distributed. Oh, what? I thought he was like dropping a block. I did ask that everyone go and park in front of the billboard.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Sammy, have you ever tossed nuggets on the table? What do you think they're trying to say with this act? Look, boys, what I think this is is a clear example of some nugget ministry. I reckon probably the hamburger has got a bit jealous that nuggets are trying to take the center to edge of macchars. I think he's knocked them mover. Something like that. Are you thinking of hamburgers in there? And the hand in the air that's dipping in the sauce is someone just trying to
Starting point is 00:34:31 make the best of a bad situation. So mid photo shoot. They were at one time. They only had one shot. The similar to any by English. I'm familiar with that. That's all right. For me with the constraints.
Starting point is 00:34:41 The box chipped over. And they went, they went to do it. Do it. Well, you know what, it's not completely unlikely. I don't think the hamburger glider, thanks, Sammy. I don't think the hamburger glider did it. I don't think so. If I might say something outrageous. But they know, like you said,
Starting point is 00:34:57 we saw what happened two years ago with the Nug War. Yep. They know we're on a limited time frame here. If we don't put 24 nuggets out for $1,000, someone else will. So maybe it did tip over mid photoshoot. Look, the rush to get this up. Rachel, welcome, Hoi.
Starting point is 00:35:13 Oh, Hoi boys, how are you? Mate, we're so good. Welcome to the podcast. You've seen the picture. I have. Have you ever slung nuggets on the table like that? Do you think it's offensive to the nuggets or do you think it's celebrating being so flush with nugs you don't care where they land? Oh look I think it's quite offensive. Who has time to go home and finish your
Starting point is 00:35:35 nugs? I'm always in the middle of the trouble. I'm like at home. Hi. Nugs first, but I'm not interesting. I'm more of a... I'm more of a big... I've never really done nugs first, because you always get nugs with a burger. But the nugs are to deal with the sadness you feel at the end of the burger. So you can tell your brain, I guess what? You've got between six and 24 more things to eat.
Starting point is 00:36:01 And your brain goes, I also think for me, feels like I can stuff more nugs in on a fuller. Yes and it's kind of out of my hands because what a special guest we have in. We've got a guest. My girlfriend Beck is in. I was telling her that we're starting out the podcast again. We're driving along, won't we Beck? And she said, oh great, great because I want my own segment.
Starting point is 00:36:38 This is huge Beck. And you know what, I think everyone's actually very confused because I used to be. We don't have a lot of time on this show. Each one, I'm only doing it once a week. And I- I used the wrong term. I just wanted a little moment on one. One. Oh, not each.
Starting point is 00:36:54 We thought it was going to be like a recurring moira. Yeah. Like a home shopping segment. You just would like to come in and say something. Yes. Oh, one off. Just a one off. Oh, right. Well, the guys before were talking to me and they were like, to come in and say something. Yes. Just a one off. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Oh, right. Well, the guys before were talking to me and they're like, oh, we're so excited about your segment. And I was like, yeah, same. All right. You would like the right to say something. Well, we just bring up something. And I know I know how you're all my son.
Starting point is 00:37:18 Is it conversational or is it more like you want to go away and like we need to like build like audio for it, like music and stuff? No, it's more I just I want to go away and like we need to like feel like audio for it like music and stuff. No, it's more I just I mean. That's what it is. Well, I mean, this might be where Bexas needs to, I mean, do you just need to vent? Do you need to get something out of your chest? It's a vent. Alright, we look forward to that segment next week. You're making me come back next week. Well, yeah, I mean, we've got the whole team here getting ready for sound effects and stuff when she can come in and get her segment open up prepared for next week. I still think it should have a segment for us.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Have we ever done this with a guest before we come in and tell us that you're coming on next week? What do you reckon she should go now? I mean, look, it's your call. Jack's wanting it up. Jack's already hanging out. And he's in the bell! Thanks coming back this week! Thanks, Baker.
Starting point is 00:38:08 I think you might have two things to defend about now. Yes. Lysna.
