Starting point is 00:00:00 A list-nuff production. Activate your internet. Cause the Hamish and the podcast starts in 3, 2, sorry, still buffering. 1. A hoi-demy- bucka, hamish. I will buck to the death of you, sir. A hoi to me skitter, Jack. Yes, I will be doing more of that today.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Skitting. Thank you. The both of you, you do normally you're skitting a long river, I would say. I don't do it like everybody else but if you say so. And that's why you'll never be a bucka. Because you'll never get promoted to the... Did that give you a clue what that might be? I'm a high river.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Jack does he... Does he skidding along the river? Yeah, I'm a high river. We warfies. No, we a lumberjack. A fish. I'm a lumberjack. I'll...
Starting point is 00:01:04 We just use Jack to skid the logs down, do we yep? So sure you picked the right guy. I know he's been going all personal trainer, but So what I threw a you chop a tree down and I throw it down the river yeah Hamish chops him down and normally they just kick him under rivers and they fight down So you're a skitter or hauler jacko and you you kick him down the river. We don't trust you with the axes But you are allowed to touch the wood I'm gonna have a lot of downtime when we're not part of the river. We don't trust you with the axes, but you are allowed to touch the wood. I'm going to have a lot of downtime when we're not part of the river. Well, maybe that will be the hardest days because I got to like it to a river. Yes, we harness them to you and you drag it. We actually as a bit of a
Starting point is 00:01:35 gag me and can be in the other buckers, we deliberately pick the trees furthest from the river from the river. So you have the furthest to skid them. What do you and I? I was a high rigger so this rigging the tops of the trees, making sure they fall in the right direction. I'm specialised job. Yeah, yeah, probably the highest paid to. And he's been handing out the jobs. Also, Hoi, to Darcy. Hoi, Hoi is trying to apply this while I'm on the tractor. Right, nothing slower is well, this tractor. Great start of the podcast this year and look forward to it.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Oh, nice to get a bit of you. Thank you. Thank you. I hope you've never known how you've come out, but with slowly the reviews trickle in. I felt like we were gust of full early. I don't think gust has been a problem this year. I think I'm back, Jacko, by the way,
Starting point is 00:02:26 thank you. Thank you, last week. Pleasant happy on the home front. Everything's good so far. Skitting your son from bedroom to change, so... LAUGHTER A lot of the skills are transferable from skidding to parenting.
Starting point is 00:02:41 We need him in the bath. I'll skid him down the hallway. LAUGHTER No, that's great. You suddenly realise you've actually been training your whole life for just skidding this tiny little log of flesh around. You were missed, Jack, but we survived, but we need to start the show. Someone we haven't talked to yet this year. It's a big announcement. People are asking that has the PowerMoz book sold out. It has the moment, so we need to get an update from our head of distribution. He's also got another announcement. He joins us now. Hawgs are
Starting point is 00:03:07 a hoi to you for 2022. Hey boys, how's it going? Yeah, good. Hoi Hawgs. Hawgs. First things first, is there another shipment coming of the power mose book two? The volume two because people are waiting for them and should we be telling them that we can start a pre-order or not? Yes, it should be, I reckon, the way it's probably about six or eight weeks away. Right, so am I right in saying hogs? This is, we haven't done another print run. This is still the honorable first edition, but it's the second batch of the first edition that was held up. Yes. Okay. So we're out of batch one. We are completely run dry and move a batch two on one. Who are you blaming for the delay? Is it you? Is there someone else who's a year 11? Um, Delay, well, we've, it's not really a delay, we've just stuff really fast to a little
Starting point is 00:04:10 bit later. That's a delay. Just say no. When you do, when you do something later and people are working, that's a delay. No, it's actually not a delay. It's, it's just a time drag for a further time. It's not, that's a bit of admin him because the main reason I wanted to get a hub Hawks today is because he told me some really sad news during the week.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Been invested in work. So for Australia for all the 11s. Enrated rated by the ombudsman. And and shocked me and I said, we have to tell the guys to do to their faces or over the phone because I'm using comedy as a defense mechanism there because I don't want to hear the sad news. Yeah, but when I asked him about t-shirts that We obviously have and whether there will be distribution of t-shirts coming up or what did you say? say. I don't think I'm going to be a guy for the T-shirt. Out of the rag game. Yeah, he's pulling out of the rag game. I, it's, there's a lot of skews in the T-shirts. Sure.
Starting point is 00:05:18 There's just a lot of, I mean, there's, you've got different sizes, you have different colors, you have different names. Yeah, people know T-shirts. Yeah. Yeah. It is a varied product. So the beauty of the book is just, it's just one size hit all. Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:34 And I'm used to that. You know, I'm not used to the T-shirt stuff. Yeah. I mean, this, first of all, this is a blow, this is a shame. Second of all, people probably, you could smell this in the air from the get-go. You were asking to charge for customer service. Because we were preempting that it was already a head-acquired for you
Starting point is 00:05:57 and you're asking people to pay a premium so they could get what other companies offer as a basic function. And also, you offered no exchanges, only refunds upon them returning. So you had made it as easy as possible for yourself. I know we're still very hard. What was so hard about that? It is fun, it is fun to start a business
Starting point is 00:06:17 on such a combative footing. And then we bend over backwards as the people of this show to make it easier for our distribution and Then you still want out No, thank you No, thank you. But the t-shirts is just a day I've done, I've taken a hat off to these distribution guys. You are meant to be one of them isn't that your business? That's what confused me when you said you're not doing anyone.
Starting point is 00:06:56 But having you got heaps of employees and you've bought a new warehouse and this is what you would plan to do. You do third party warehouse and that is distribution, isn't it? I, we're, it's really, we're pulling the pin on it. It's just too hard. Yeah. Instead of your elevenths, do you need your twelfth? I would ask the four of you.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Specialised workforce. Actually, wouldn't they be in your twelfth now? They're the same guys. They've grown. They've grown and learned with the business. Same people back that we're gonna go in and unpack the books for you, your nephews and their friends. But that is a huge problem. And every industry has got the problem.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Like no one, the people in Australia, they're just not willing to work at the moment. Okay, so hang on, just so they can get a clear idea of this. I can feel the frustration. Am I right in saying that it's the variability of the order that comes in where you just go too hard? There's too many variables. Too many variables.
Starting point is 00:07:59 And, yeah, I mean, the... And then we've got the person. We can't get turn of people to look after it because I think you've got to train someone, you know, every third day thing on out, this is, these are all the different little variables. Okay. Can I, can I just, can we run a live simulation here? Right. Let's run a live simulation. Just so I'd like to get an idea of the level of where it's too much for you. Okay. so let's say a new order comes in. I want you to say the words too much
Starting point is 00:08:28 when I give you too much. And when you feel yourself going, no, this is exactly why I'm getting out of the game. Okay, my order comes in, Hamish Blake. Yeah. I would like one black T-shirt. That's fine. Large.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Yeah. Lost touch with the common man. Yeah, that's fine. Lodge? Yep. Lost touch with the common man. Yep, that's fine. I live in Sydney. Yep. And can I have one white t-shirt? No, too much. LAUGHTER
Starting point is 00:08:53 LAUGHTER Are you getting... They're getting mixed up between the two T-shirts. You're livers? All right. That's fine. We literally sell black products in a white product. There's two bats.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Two bats in a white product. Oh, all right. Bull Hawgs. What are we doing with the black? We're doing it with the black. What if we want to do T-shirts? We'll have to go somewhere else, which is sad, a sad side of affairs, but also Hawgs, we've got a black book and a white book
Starting point is 00:09:25 I just want to double you double it clear that you're committed to still getting those to the people if they want them. That's very, see we made one big mistake with the volume too. We didn't and we're feeling how we put the amazing packaging, the protective packaging. Yeah. We didn't label it for you, one or both. So they were all just brand boxes. Yeah. And when you say, where? I thought you could never do it. Where else would I want to see?
Starting point is 00:09:54 What is this? When we say boxes. When you say, where, that's you, you're in your business. Yeah, but we are in use of point there. I did when we got there. I went out and visited the factory and sent you at the time when you guys, people were just pulling about boxes. When you were 11, I said, hey, mate, just quickly,
Starting point is 00:10:17 which ones are volume 1, which are volume 2? And that's when we went, oh dear. That's when it hit you. But at that point, that's where I thought you'd at least go, let's mood the palette somewhere. But are they arrived from overseas with that with no description on the bigger box? Yeah, so it's made it, if you're,
Starting point is 00:10:35 but we're working around it. Amazing. Got it. Yeah, okay. I guess it's one of those things where we, of course, it sounds, yeah, I wouldn't like to do it, but I'm not running a warehousing company that's offering distribution. It's like someone going, you know, it's like going to a butcher's and him taking it back and going, oh, mate, I don't know. Another guy's meat, I don't know if it's a lamb or sausages or it's not very...
Starting point is 00:10:59 So much body meat. I mean, why would I eat chicken? Yeah, come on. I don't know. I don't know. And you said they're going, yeah, well, I don't really know either, but you are the butcher. Oh, it's a good chance to thank you very much, really clearly, Aaron, that stuff. But we'll come in and have a tea.
Starting point is 00:11:15 This much mint, then they want a sausage. Oh, two, uh, one mint. And it just a sausage. Can I get the job? Not, not even. Well,. You're so tough. Can I get the job? No, not even. LAUGHTER Well, you've impressed so far. So yeah, you're certainly retumbed to the list. LAUGHTER
Starting point is 00:11:34 Hey, and we just obviously heard from Hogs that the books will be back out soon, but they're still fighting in. It's a big part of the show. We've got a launch into this year's Pound Moves. big part of the show. We've got a launch into this year's pow moves. So we need some crackers. Some crackers across the break go for an and a. This is from Ben Bunt Powmoof.
Starting point is 00:11:58 When you play a club sport of any kind, 40 cricket, hockey soccer, netball, et cetera. And your partner isn't happy that you spend all Saturday with your mates playing and then going to the pub generally afterwards. When you have a buy weekend, don't tell them when it is. On the buy weekend, simply say, you know what, I'm not going to play today because I've loved spending some time with you. And it's a great not lying to you.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Yeah. Yeah. Smart. Yeah, smart. Never miss an opportunity for a little bit of leverage. Ando, power move from Brian. He goes, look, I call this pulling a departed as in the classic decaprio movie.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Okay. It's called Saisi de Caprio. Wonderful movie. When you're in a group and a new person is introduced, when it's your turn to say hello to them, say hello, are you still an undercover cop? If they deny they're a cop, then it makes them look even more like an undercover cop, or if they say they are a cop, it makes them look like a bad undercover cop. But we'll never do it. From Jordan here, power move for Olympic gold medalists to you. We don't mind how niche it is.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Yes. He said it's also only golf for a landed. So it's two very niche ones. Sorry, you have to have one gold in the golf. No, any type of gold, but you use this while playing golf. OK, so it's for Olympic gold medalists who then go and play golf. Yes, socially. Wow, gotcha.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Yes. He said, the people who don't know golf, when the balls on the green, you're allowed to pick it up and wash it, etc. or market. So if another person behind you doesn't hit it, people normally use small plastic markers. Use your gold medal. What's that? Oh, so he just, so I know. My gold medal. Yeah, eight, eight person skulls.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Oh, what are the wrong name and the rowing event. I mean, I didn't go to the gold silver or bronze, I mean, it's still impressive to put a bronze there. That's true. Actually, oh, mate, bronze medalist, you stoked to get a bronze. Are you happy to get a bronze anywhere to get a silver? I read a thing that people were like, bronze medalists are far happier than silver medalists. Bronze is like got so close. You're so close. Got something.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Then I was close to missing out. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, still all good for the golf course. And a simple one, but a fantastic one, when somebody's doing a speech, so it comes from Jack. When someone's giving a speech in an event, these days not like a wedding or whatever the speech is very normal to be able to read it off their phone, to have some notes, wherever everyone makes notes, these days. As soon as you see the phone out, get all your mates to start calling them. They will not be able to clear the screen fast enough. And we'll probably sabotage the speech. And he's a great one, like it.
Starting point is 00:15:09 This is really day to ask. But remember, back in the day, you know, when we... So we're all born 991. So 2002 was the big 21st year. Yeah. Remember was the thing if you're in backyard parties and you see something that does a speech. We were all just new to mobile phones.
Starting point is 00:15:24 And it was just relentlessly called. Call for people. Call for people. All call anyone in the group because they're just just just starting ring tones going off everywhere. Vibrate wasn't a thing early. No, no, you never had vibrate. You could never vibrate phone.
Starting point is 00:15:35 And so yeah, Jackson screwing his eyes. You know, so it's been like, so phones going off are probably totally totally. Yeah. Hey, this one comes in from Logan. Drama power move. Fantastic. So I might in from Logan, drummer, power move. Fantastic. So my Peter interest.
Starting point is 00:15:49 You've got me. I play drums in a band, much like Hamish. When we play live, at certain points in the set, my singer gets very serious with the crowd and gives a speech about our songs and the meaning to all of them. At the end of his sentences in the speech, I had a boom t- Hey, and we love all listeners, but particularly the VIPs that go to hemishandle.com, fill out a form which lists a number of little things, including a special skill.
Starting point is 00:16:33 We'd like to think we've collecting the world's largest catalog of one-off unique skilled people. Another one's coming in from Jacob. He joins us from the United States of America. I believe from Columbus. Oh, how do you Jacob? I'm a hoi boy. Lovely. Lovely to have you on. You wrote in, I can name any and I mean any in capitals, United States national parks, and also the state they're located. And if you want to make it harder, I can also do the year that they became a national park too.
Starting point is 00:17:04 We do want to make it harder. I can also do the year that they became a national park too. We do want to make it harder, Jacob. So we will need that information. But what took you to the love of national parks? So me and my brother after high school, we decided to do like a US road trip. So me and my brother, we drove from Ohio to Seattle, to San Diego and back to Ohio in like four weeks.
Starting point is 00:17:26 And during those, we hit nine national parks. And I mean, after that, I started going to more national parks than right now I've already hit like 20 so far. Amazing. How many national parks in the US? It's not part of the quiz just to see how many national parks. How many are just a warm up? This is just to get the eye in.
Starting point is 00:17:42 How many you got? There are 63 national parks in the US. Well, it's low. I guess I thought there would be more than that. They're big. How many do we have in Australia? We've probably got 63. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Good question. It's not a park off, but I'm just sucking. But that's got a bit. Some of America's are whoppers. What's the biggest one? Again, not part of the quiz. The biggest one is Wrangles and Elias. Oh, and that's Alaska.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Alaska. It basically is all of Alaska, isn't it? I mean, have you flown over Alaska the whole thing's a national boat with a squirt of a town on average. All right, Jacob, we are going to in today's contest is recreate that road trip with your brother. We're not the exact one. You took this as man and his own road trip but yet using the navigational facts that we provide you will give you the city we're leaving from what road we're taking and how far we're traveling and then using that info you've got to tell us what national park we're going to hit. Does that seem possible? I think so. Yeah. Okay fantastic. Let's jump into it. Here we go. Here we go. National Park. National Park. Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do in the whole of the, you know, continent of the United States. Jacob, should we jump in the car and get going?
Starting point is 00:19:06 Yeah, go for it. Here we go. Classic. You can tell that the man's been on a four week road trip. You're just ready to rock. All right, Andy. I'm the navigator and of course we're here we are in sunny Virginia. We're in Virginia, yeah, Richmond, the capital of Virginia.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Are you okay in the back there, Jacob, Nufflegroom? Yeah, yeah. It's really great. What a passenger. I can't wait for great conversations like that over the next few hours of drive. Is Richard telling the truth? Is it really great back there?
Starting point is 00:19:35 It is nice and roomy back here. He tells no lies. Are you making a policy in all our road trips to put a back seat light detector in? Alright, so we're in the beginning. Where are we going? Sorry, Matt, I should tell you where to go. We're going to take Route 250, US Route 250, for about an hour and a half to get to skyline drive.
Starting point is 00:19:58 I believe that drive goes alongside the park. Yeah, well, should run us, should run us take us straight through the park, actually, for course of mine out. Yeah, well, yeah. Should run us, should run us, take us straight through the park, actually. If it's according to my map. Oh, good. Jacob. Are we going to Shenandoah National Park? We are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Ah! We are. Jack, can you just check in the back seat? He wasn't looking at a phone or anything, was he? He's got no screens in front of him. Why, how he? Jack removed the bit of sound effect for a second, because I was pull over over because this is great.
Starting point is 00:20:25 We're in shock. For the bonus point, what year was it established a national park? I believe 1935. He's got it. He's got it. He's good. All right, this is good. All right. Actually established December 26. So again. Yeah, well, yeah, they were sort of like, you know, you can have Christmas in the bush, but after that, there'll be rules. Then it's a national park. You can can have fires whoever you want. After that, there'll be rangers. So have a good Christmas and then we crack down. All right, back in the car. Okay, back in the car. Here we go. Okay, back in the car, here we go. Riiiindo. Hey, Jacob. Sweet home, New Mexico.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Yes, we're in New Mexico now. Jacob, do you have that coke we just got? Can you pass that for it on a bit first? Whoa, a handle. Oh, sorry. You can help them. Thank you, Miles. It was in your sorry. I'm being put up for the car. Good power move if any gave you his money at the petrol station and you were like, you can have some. All right, well, ando, I'm in New Mexico.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Where are we going? We're in Santa Fe. We're going to spend four and a half hours driving down down US Highway 285. She nearly five hours away. Yeah, see, you're almost, you think you're almost out of the state, but sorry, were we heading again? Jacob, what's this park? Wait, Dan National Park.
Starting point is 00:21:56 It is not. Ah! Ah! Ah! We've made an error. Why? No, I mean, look, look, four and a half hour drive, let me, this is tough for him because we could have driven in any direction.
Starting point is 00:22:07 We wouldn't give him a lot there that we, that's true. I did say down, we're going to Cal's Bad Kevin's National Park. Yeah. Oh, hmm. How was your road trip? Well, there was one awkward day in New Mexico. No one. No one you want to say. Do you know that one? Do you know Karlsbad, Kevin's national bar? Yeah, that one I do. That one was, it's not published in 1930.
Starting point is 00:22:36 It was. It was. It does not. Look, he's good. Would you feel it's been unfair the way that we're giving you the clues? I mean, no, not really. What a man. What a good man. Real dilemma there to go. Do I say yes and throw them out of the bus or do I just be a bloke? Hey, he's slipped, so there's no coin. But with one park to go.
Starting point is 00:23:02 I'm just coming to look at White Sands National Park, and I'm gonna see if it's near Carl's barred. Yeah, falls. Is it close enough or not? Let me paint a picture. Imagine a wishbone. Yep. Santa Fe is at the top.
Starting point is 00:23:19 White Sands is at the end of one leg of the wishbone. Oh yeah. Carl's bars at the other end of the week. Could still go four and a half hours drive. Oh, the only thing, yeah, it's exactly, it'd be exactly four and a half hours out of Santa Fe. The only thing that he's got wrong really there is the highway. I reckon let's call that a draw.
Starting point is 00:23:35 And if he gets this next one, he can have it. That is very close. He's done very well. Jacob, you still got a chance for a coin. I think you have to get this one right. We are not getting back inside the car, but we are getting inside a plane. So let's all get into chance for a coin. I think you have to get this one right. We are not getting back inside the car, but we are getting inside a plane. So let's all get into the plane, please. Oh.
Starting point is 00:23:50 Oh. Oh. Wow. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:23:58 Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. About two years ago before he decided he couldn't be bothered getting his Polons license because it was too much rigmarole. So we should be fine with Ando, I'll do the navigating. Yes, same. We are going to some of the
Starting point is 00:24:12 other exclusively big access to park by boat or plane. Where are we going specifically? We've chosen plane. For a very unsafe reason. So we're in Alaska, we're in Alaska, no need to jump in early. So we can't drive in there, as Ando mentioned. But we would take a direct flight from either Anchorage, Dillingham, Khoma, King Sammon, Kodiak, really any of the nearby Alaskan towns or villages would get us into this national park. My guess is a glacier bay. We're in the plane around there, right? We've made a huge mistake.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Unfortunately, we're headed to Katmai National Park. Man, I guess I should have known because the former is close to Katmai. It is? Yeah. And what year was catmai national park established? Catmai was in 1980. Oh, see. Yeah. I mean, your real skills, your real skills
Starting point is 00:25:13 knowing the year they're established, maybe a more fun application would be that people take you to a park and you don't really know where it is. But then they tell you what park it is and you tell them when it was established. You've done brilliantly, Jacob. Unfortunately, not a good enough raccoon, but I think you have definitely can hold your head up high, you know, and what about national parks and great to chat to you for the United States, mate. We'll send you a token of no value.
Starting point is 00:25:36 We really have to send you a token of no value because whilst we attach no sentimental value to it, we're not. No financial value, sorry. It can be sentimental attached, value attached at a lay the date by you, once you receive it as a token from the Habit Shanty Show of how much we love our American podcasters, so please enjoy it and keep getting on out there to those parks. Thank you so much. Cheers buddy. No way. I don't know why I ended on like a note like I am a ranger, encouraging all to enjoy the parts, but I guess I am. Guys, don't want to brag, but I want to share some amazing news with you. I have the opportunity to get a pretty cool hat. Oh, I haven't got it yet, but I know how to get one. Is it a peak? I just, here's the story. Okay. A couple of years ago, I got excited
Starting point is 00:26:40 online and I think for for Zof another. So you just provide a beer, something that dog at the moment got sunburned on a cut on his nose and the vet said, please don't let the cat get sunburned. And we were like, we had to do that. So you have to buy it a half. What kind of hat does it work? Oh, I don't know. I mean, people put silly stuff. If you can get a vest for a dog, I'm thinking you're going to hat for a dog. You've seen a hat dog fat. I mean, people put sillies if you can get a vest for a dog, I'm saying you get a hat for
Starting point is 00:27:06 a dog. You've seen a hat dog fat. I mean, I've seen dogs, dude. I mean, we've all seen dogs in dumb stuff. So you could get like a baby's hat for the dog. But like, there's tiny peaks on those. Like, no, no, no, you need that like so far out. No, no, you need, you get a broad brim kid's hat with the drawstring.
Starting point is 00:27:21 But they wear it school. That's what you want. I mean, or I don't think there'd be a dog braero, but hat with the drawstring. But they wear it school. That's what you want. I mean, or I don't think there'd be a dog braero, but you want something that big. Well, how about, I mean, a challenge for this hat, right? Maybe you can have this hat if I get it. Okay, I'll donate it to Henry. Couple of years ago for Mother's Abort,
Starting point is 00:27:40 Zoe, who is a quarter Dutch, possibly even dutch, has a fair bit of dutch blood and I like yourself, Jacko. I'm a hush. You're not dutch, you're not much. As they say in the fam, the mini pancakes pan for profugies. Oh, yeah, profugies. Profugies. You need a special mix for the mini pancakes.
Starting point is 00:27:59 You can do shaken bacon there. They don't come out great. These are the ones you find to like fairs and markets and stuff like often like in the country and you just like drown them in butter and icing sugar. I did a bit of googling because I was like I want to get the proper mixture. There was one place in Australia where you can get the actual Dutch mixture like pancake mix. I called on a website called Dutch deals. And it is a website and I'm not giving him a free plan here having to pay for it. I don't have a back door. I range with Dutch, not peanut butter.
Starting point is 00:28:33 I thought his lucrative is one of Jack's peanut butter deals. But you go to Dutch deals and they just sell Dutch stuff. Like they have gone hard and cornering the Dutch markets. Hats as well, like, is that the one? I know the ones you mean, but it's not even clogs and Dutch things like that. It is just Dutch foods. All right.
Starting point is 00:28:51 I believe, like mostly Dutch foods. And of course, and these are where I got the pan from as well. So I guess it's like Dutch cooking stuff. Okay. Coupmins is the only brand that makes the proper mix. And they get it from Holland, because when I've bought it before, it's all in Dutch on the back. So it's like three eatables of oil. I think there's three drops of oil. Like, you know, 800, it's milk. That's milk.
Starting point is 00:29:20 That's milk. So for when your wife is fluent, it wears off on you. So I'm excited, it would run out for ages. And over someone was like, you know what guys? We're, I'm re-upping on the, on the coupements. So I go to Dutch fields and I'm like, I'm never gonna remember to go back here. So I'm gonna try and buy four, I'm gonna try four little shaken bake packs of mix.
Starting point is 00:29:43 So I put them in my cart and on the Dutch deals website, if anyone's interested, this is I'll be sure it's available to all customers. I put four in my cart and a little pop up, the ad comes up going, hey, spend another $188.50. You spend another $188.50 and you will get a Dutch deals, baseball style hat. Doesn't fit a dog. I wish you could ride back to the pop-up.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Do you do dog hats? Could it be a Dutch ball hat? It's the style of a Dutch deal's not a baseball team. I want, I think we need to get one. We need it. Yeah. I mean, who? Oh, God, you'd love to see the back end for that website to go. This goes spending $36 or a wrist-fending. We put the message up. He went back in. He bought, he bought like nine pans and got himself up to another 190. We suck it in in with the offer of the Dutch deals hat. Oh, love it.
Starting point is 00:30:53 Hey, but if you're very good this year, I'll organize a Dutch deals hat for everyone. Hey, a lot of bands say they don't take requests, our podcast. We actually do because requests only when we prefer requests. That's out the thinking. It would be completely honest. Would you not agree, sir? I would agree. We had a request to bring back a game that we'd please to play a lot. Do you know what I mean? I mean, he called Charlotte a very important listener of the show.
Starting point is 00:31:23 I joke about kidding out the thinking, but yes, the fun part about doing the request is, you know, we've had a lot of things in the history of the radio show that because we tend to get bored with stuff quite quickly, we would have a lot of fun to exerting them, we just forget about it. Yep. And so we do enjoy the request aspect
Starting point is 00:31:39 because it allows us to go back and relive the fun again. And this is one of our favorite games. Charlotte joins us now. Oh, hi, do you, Charlotte? Hi, guys. Charlotte, we don't normally do requests. Charlotte, we're very, only originals, really, every gig.
Starting point is 00:31:51 But happy to do a request in this situation. What is it that you wanted us to revisit? Some of the cramps. Yeah, some of the cramps. The great game where basically, Harking back to our university days, Hamish and I felt that we could cram for an entire essay or exam in the car park 25 minutes before the examiner played it.
Starting point is 00:32:10 We played into our hands very well. We mentioned this in the past, but often at the university, we went to, we were doing management subjects and you would often get 15 or 20 minutes included in the exam time. There was only for reading. Reading time. Reading time. Just reading times.
Starting point is 00:32:22 You couldn't put pen to paper in that time. We always opted to spend it in the car park. You were meant to be reading the exam question and thinking about your essay. But we would spend it in the car park covering Wigs 4-9 of the syllabus just rapidly flying through your nose. And you could retain a surprising amount if you ran in. Didn't look at anyone and just that it scribbling down all the stuff that was slowly dissolving from your short term memory.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Exactly. Like a snapchat, which is why it was very important to not use reading time because you need to be able to use your pen immediately when you go. You can believe all those fools in there letting their memories degrade while we are in the car park keeping it fresh. Do you know how else I've realized with this show? And basically, our, my whole professional career is taking all the weaknesses of anything I exhibited before 20th of 21 and turning those into my profession. So I had speech therapy because
Starting point is 00:33:18 I had a huge list, but now I'm a broadcaster. Exactly. I'm a we'll probably. I just like, you know, being fast and loose, not being organized as a kid, just being distracted, not doing stuff because I was watching my brother build Lego. And like basically, I was just mentioning to all these things in your career. Great stuff. Well, Charlotte, we will play song to cram again.
Starting point is 00:33:39 This is the game where basically, you'll give us a topping in a moment, but we'll get one song in which to cram Google as much as possible, and then you'll give us a topic in a moment but we'll get one song in which to cram Google as much as possible and then you'll come back and give us an on-the-spot quiz on that topic. Let's jump into it. Whoa! Get ready, song to cram. Whoa! Get ready, song to cram. Charlotte, what is today's topic? I get the Christie. Oh, I get the Christie. Okay. Who of course is a famous novelist?
Starting point is 00:34:06 Slash movie. Because a lot of our films get made for movies. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film.
Starting point is 00:34:17 So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't just try to film. So you can't TV series or film. Or do you or her as a person? Um, books and her as a person.
Starting point is 00:34:27 Oh, her as a person. To avoid TV stuff. That's good. Did you do TV shows? Yeah, because Mum and Dad used to always sit down and go, have this new egg at the Christie on tonight. Yeah, but I think it was the movie, like Death on the Nile and stuff, aren't those at the egg at the Christie's?
Starting point is 00:34:41 No, I don't know. I was just saying she wasn't doing like, you know, 50 apps. No, I think it was getting turned into a one-off special event. Yeah, there you go. But we're going to find out, and in a moment, we're not going to look at TV or films, we've just got a hint from Charlotte. Well, yes.
Starting point is 00:34:56 I think it's like books, which then got turned into films. Mm-hmm. I would end her personality. And personal life. Can you put Charlotte on hold for a second? Because obviously she comes up with the question. It's kind of like for people that hold you. Haven't heard this before.
Starting point is 00:35:08 It's sort of like reverse hard quiz. Charlotte obviously knows a lot about how to get the Christian Lobs her and her books a slash TV series we're about to find out. And we now, yeah, we have one song to learn everything we can. So do you want to go with personal life or do you want to go on that catalog? It's a real conundrum because I find the personal life of someone that I've never shown any interest in boring. Yeah, I do think that's easier. Yeah, I think that could be easier of the two.
Starting point is 00:35:36 So do you want to be interested or do you want to win? I look old, I'll take personal life, I'm having proven wrong and find that something very interesting about the guy who's a woman or on the books and you go all on personal lives. Yeah, and just so you know, in books that got turned into movies, they don't let that trip you up because we're not going to have that long. Okay, so just go, go broad plot lines. I'd say you've only got time for broad plot lines. I'm just going on books.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I'm going to try and get all the other books. Yeah, just get books involved. Because assume, I think the best gamble we can take you is you assume all the books became movies. Okay, not the other way around. She wasn't writing movies. I think she was from the 50s. 30s maybe. You'll find that.
Starting point is 00:36:10 I'll find that. Data first would be one of the key. I'm betting before I even open up Google. I reckon she was born 1912. Okay, wow. Let's think about that. I found out that she never said that because now it's gonna be a fake fact in my box. Charlotte is back. She can hear you. Um, uh, let's think. Now that shouldn't have said that because now it's going to be a fake fact in my
Starting point is 00:36:25 show. It is back. She can hear you. Yeah. Charlotte. We're we've divided all and everything there is to know about how we can go through the into two finally two segments. I don't know why I'm writing our personal life on my page. Thank you. Hey, Mish is, uh, is has got one side of the thing. I've got the other side. Uh, Jack, are you got a song for us? What are you choosing? Yes, this is Kiss Me, Six Pents, None the Richer. Yeah, no, this song. Don't get caught up with this in the song, Ham.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Jack, are you starting to play this song and at the end of it? How long is the song Jack? Three minutes, 10 seconds. Would have loved to do it. You're not ripping us off, but you're not being generous. The original was actually 3.30, but this, but we've only got the radio at it. Unbelievable. I'm back on the costus.
Starting point is 00:37:10 All right, thank you, Charles. See you on the other side of this song, hit it, Jack. Yep, that's the song for the big. I got the biggest thing. Yeah. Yeah. Can't sleep. I'll be by your side. Oh, I'm... Hens down. Hens, no, I'm Hens down. Hens down, guys.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Okay, guys, that's it. I hope you liked the song. Computing down. Computing down. Computing down. Yes. Good. And now we must finish this song.
Starting point is 00:37:36 Oh, I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it.
Starting point is 00:37:44 I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going that's it. I hope you like the song. Computer, now, computer, put your pens down, you computer down. Yes. Good. Now we must finish the studying portion of the test, and we must go to the testing portion. Hey, don't make me come over there. Come on, head down. And here we go. And turn your paper over. Yeah, no, no, no, you're not allowed, no, I mean, who's teaming you on, I'm not. Okay, Charlotte, you there, ladnuts. I mean, who's teaming you on, I sometimes. Okay, Charlotte, you there?
Starting point is 00:38:07 I'm here. He's still looking. He's still looking. He was a slow turn over. I've got a bad shoulder and the paper's heavy. Charlotte, you've come up with three questions. Yeah. Can you please start with question number one?
Starting point is 00:38:24 We only have to get two out of three correct for it to be a deemed a victory for us. All right, the question one, what's the 10 name that Agatha Christie used to write romance numbers? All right, it's definitely perverse. That's a personal name. In name, and it's not personal name, her personal name was Agatha Christie.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Day, Magatha Christie, if I may, born 1890. But that was her personal name, her personal name was Agatha Christie, day, Magatha Christie, if I may, born 1890. But that was her personal name, which I've fulfilled my part of the bargain. But what was her in name, Andrew? The professional name she used, the novels, the novel question. So, to append she used to write, one of her 78 novels, 74, 74 novels. Really? I had the... the last short story collection. I didn't get to this. You didn't get the pen heart.
Starting point is 00:39:12 But what do you think it might have been called? Is there something in a personality she has a dog? Hang on, hang on. Lady, was it Lady something? No. Yes, it might have been Lady Melloran. No, it's not. It's not Lady something she's hidden from. Larissa? Lar lady something? No, yes, it might have been lady Meloran. No, it's not it's not lady something she's hit. Larissa. Larissa something. Okay, um Doug. What was the name of the what was the name of the pin? Mary West McCot. Which Mary was a middle name, so I would argue that's personal.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Thank you. You didn't phrase it like that, but I did. Thank you. I did know Mary was her name. She was of course Dame Agatha Mary Whistlercott Christy. All right, star the name. She did have a few names I know I know. Some of them slip my brain now. Come on, let's go, let's just say a second question. All right, so Agatha Christy wrote the play, Maustra, which holds the record for the longest running play on West End. How many years have it been running? That's a little monosite.
Starting point is 00:40:14 That's professional. I mean, she personally would have gone to the theatre. I wish the question had been, where was the play Maustra put on? West End, which I definitely remember reading. But you've included a fact in the answer. Well, what if she had written a play after 9 in 21? Because that was when she wrote her first. That's true.
Starting point is 00:40:33 And it would have been, before 9 in 76, because that was when she wrote her last book. No, she's not. It would have been during the marriage of her second husband, I would assume a max whom she made in Baghdad. I reckon the aim, let's just reckon I reckon he would have got famous. Let's call it. I reckon it's run for.
Starting point is 00:40:53 I reckon it's run for 25 years. Oh, I was going to say 50 years. 56 years. 56 years. 70. Oh, 70. Still going, is it? Yeah, well, it starts for 14 months over lockdown, but it still says it's a continuous, most
Starting point is 00:41:08 running place. Yeah, you obviously met the pandemic, you can still call it. I will give you something we've filed, Deiz-Mili, but give us the last one just for free. Oh, the last one's the hardest, though. So, worth two. Okay. All right. What's the name of the self-caracature character that Agatha Christie included in Seven of
Starting point is 00:41:27 Her Nothas? That's definitely my inside of it. Well, okay. You got to think here. Here she is. Okay. So she gone to Egypt when she's younger. In 1970.
Starting point is 00:41:41 She's come back. Right. She's come back from Egypt later that year in 1970. She was feeling poorly. She writes her first six novels. She gets the first novel. They get rejected by six publishers. Okay, so the message there, kids, is absolutely keep trying. And then, and that's the body. And then the bodily head, the, the bodily head was the publisher to begin with, but he changed to change the book.
Starting point is 00:42:07 And Scott was like, of course, to publish the incredible books featuring her Q.O. Poirot. What was the question? What's the name of the self-character to a character? The aggopet Christy included in seven of her novels. Pys up Miss Marple? Oh I do like that because she was kind of like an old lady too but I'm thinking that's what I'm thinking with also novelist
Starting point is 00:42:32 um, never mind, Pora is a fellow um, is, I have tried the same name um, Adrienne Oliver um, close to her I'm very nice, Oliver two to us and two to you and it's a draw well, Charlotte. Good fun. And everyone. Thanks, guys.
Starting point is 00:42:45 Thanks for listening. The Hamish Nandy podcast will return next week. Catch up or contribute at hamishanandie.com. Listener. tribute at www.hamishanandee.com
