Starting point is 00:00:00 That's the sound of unaged whiskey, transforming into Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Around 1860, nearest green taught Jack Daniel how to filter whiskey through charcoal for a smoother taste, one drop at a time. This is one of many sounds in Tennessee with a story to tell. To hear them in person, plan your trip at TNVacation.com. Tennessee sounds perfect. You are listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review podcast. We find little nuggets, treasures,
Starting point is 00:00:36 valuable pieces of gold in the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and pass them on to you, perhaps expand a little bit. We are not associated with Joe Rogan in any way. Think of us as the talking dead to Joe's walking dead. You're listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review. What a bizarre thing we've created. Now with your host, Adam Thorne. Might either be the worst podcast or the best one of all time.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Two, one, go. Enjoy the show. Hey guys, and welcome to another episode of the JRE review. My name is Adam joined by Peter. Good day, Adam. Nice to see you brother. Yeah. What's happening?
Starting point is 00:01:16 What's happening? Who we got this week? We got Mike Baker, the CIA and the Hizzo and then Gad Sad. He's not sad. He's a very positive guy. It's a fun name for a really happy sounding guy. Yep. Yep. Two A's in that too. It's almost like a made up name there. Bless him. Um, and yeah, I would say not that the focus of both of these podcasts was like the Israeli
Starting point is 00:01:43 Palestine thing, but I mean, Mike Baker is always like world current events and the Gadsad obviously lent into it. So, um, yeah, it's kind of heavy on that front. So, you know, I'm just throwing it out now. If you're tired of that dialogue, um, don't even listen to this podcast because we got to talk about it a bit. Um, and I get it.
Starting point is 00:02:09 It's like that all on the news. It's all you're hearing. It's all on your feed, on Instagram. And it's it wears me out. I guess that's such a fucking easy thing to say, because we're not like in the middle of it. Like, it's important to the people having a struggle with this but Anyway, I wonder I wonder
Starting point is 00:02:32 What do you where's where's where's the pro Palestine? Guy on here, you know, well, I doesn't maybe he should get a propeller sign guy on there just to round it out Oh on Rogan? Yeah. I don't, I don't know. I don't think he's that interested with it, honestly. You know, I think, I like, Rogan has talked many times about how it's awful to see these innocent people get killed and kids and all the rest of it. It's like he already knows that story. He's trying to understand how it can make sense and what kind of, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:17 what the focus is to like, hey, we got to deal with this. Like this is an issue. Like, I don't think Israel would be doing anything like this without that happening. And I don't think they instigated it. I don't think, well, in the sense of like, you know, it wasn't like they kind of allowed it to happen to have an excuse to invade, right? I don't feel like we're going to find that out in the future.
Starting point is 00:03:50 And let's be fair, many wars have started that way. You know, flag. Yeah. Countries want to get into a war. So they kind of like, you know, not allow a thing to happen, but they just kind of turn their head a little bit. And then they're like, oh, they got us. Let's go fuck them up. And you know, it seems to me that the Israelis were like, Hey, we're living our
Starting point is 00:04:13 lives over here doing this. Yeah. What? I guess are we starting with us with Baker? Well, let's start with Baker. Start with Baker. His, um, I'm not sure I'm skipping around, but um, the portion where he's, you know, the part that's interesting to me and tells a lot is that half of the people arrested are not students. They're outside influences to people that go to these places and help, help fund these kids and help use these kids they're using these kids as a
Starting point is 00:04:48 as a mouthpiece well Maybe maybe this is like most protests that take place, but it does seem Like when people are getting interviewed that no one knows what you know from the river to the sea means They barely know where these countries are and what the land is and what they're even there for. You know, they just, these kids seem to go there because they're like, Oh, I heard it was a genocide or I heard people were dying that shouldn't be dying. And that's bad. Well, if that's all the information you get pretty reasonable that you show up. I would say, yeah, but I've shown up for, for less right.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Protests. Yeah. They're like free tacos. Also, I've shown up for the same reason. Many of these kids are showing up for to get laid. That's it. They want, they're trying to be cool, bro. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:43 You can lean on, lean on a lady and be like, I care too. I care so much. Let's go care. But also it's like it's not required as well when you show up to a protest to be like fucking four books deep and many news cycles. I mean, if you're in your twenties and you just like feel that you should be getting into politics or you just like wanna be a part of a movement, you're gonna show up to it. So there's gonna be a ton of confusion as well.
Starting point is 00:06:20 And all the powers that be are doing their best to confuse both sides. Yeah, no doubt. Well, they got a new generation to confuse. That's what they want to keep doing. I really like Rogan's approach. Um, or rather his, his optimism when he says that this generation is the best one. And there's a lot of idiots out there, but there's a lot of us included
Starting point is 00:06:47 us idiots like us out there who just knee-jerk reaction can go for a side. But yeah, I think that I think the woke thing, you know, leaning on that too heavy was was like a little much for people, young kids, especially
Starting point is 00:07:04 they're like, wait a minute, I can say nothing ever. Right. I can't even talk shit. Have you ever been a 13-year-old boy? All you do is talk shit. All you do is try to instigate. Yeah. Wind up your friends.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Be oppositional. And they're like, you can't do that. That's rude. Makes them feel sad. Don't you dare't do that. That's rude makes them feel sad Don't you dare tug on that girl's cat ears? Right. Yeah, buddy. Like how would you even date in that world? Is this consensual? Can I ask you out? Is that okay if I ask you out? Yeah, that's gonna not you Adam
Starting point is 00:07:40 That's really gonna turn women on on. They're like, Oh, another strong man. Well, that's what they required them to do. And then it turns around that those guys are less desirable to them. How's that going to work for them? Well, at least they're doing it the right way, Pete and never getting laid. Golly. It's rough on that. Rough on there.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Well, they kind of opened up the pod with how AI is doing some weird shit. Like Randy Travis, the country legend. Genius. Yeah, he's all fucked up medically, can't sing anymore. And they're making AI songs in, you know, his voice, his style, all the rest of it.
Starting point is 00:08:31 And yeah, I don't think this is bad at all. I mean, I even heard that Bruce Willis sold his rights to, you know, his like likeness and the rest of it. I don't know what they will do with it, whether they'll like go back and make AI movies with like young Bruce Willis, but I think there could be a place for that. I mean there's an argument to say well you know what about the new actors and blah blah blah but if it looked exactly the same then you could literally match any actors together with any other actors at any age.
Starting point is 00:09:11 So you're taking all the best- A Clint Eastwood Bruce Willis movie? Right? Arnold Schwarzenegger? Just, you know, like you could even remake classic movies, but with like better special effects and kind of you know change the script around a little bit like a new Predator with all the same cast looked same guys looked exactly the same but it was just like cleaner crisper better technology I'd be in for it. Like-
Starting point is 00:09:45 Too much time pushing pencils. Great lines. Great lines, dude. Get to the chopper. Dylan, you son of a bitch. I mean, the thing about that though is, you know, look how with all the technology we have today, movies have just kind of like dropped off,
Starting point is 00:10:04 especially since COVID. It's just not even exciting. I walked, walked past the movie theater the other day. Uh, I was in Vegas for the weekend and, uh, we were in a casino and they had a movie theater there and we all looked up and it was people I went to high school with. We looked up and we were like, remember when you always knew what was coming out? Always. You always knew you saw trailers, you look forward to it. You were like, man, that comes out the next dude. I couldn't tell you what came out in the last six months.
Starting point is 00:10:34 No, I didn't know any of the movies that were up there. Tomatoes. Yeah. Look at the reviews and I'm like, I'm not going to watch that. I'm not going to watch this. I had no idea and nothing appealed to me. And I'm just like, I'm not going to watch that. I'm not going to watch this. I had no idea and nothing appealed to me. And I'm just like, give us something. If I had looked up and they were like, we're randomly playing the 1986 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie
Starting point is 00:10:53 Commando, I'd be like, I'm going in there. Let's go. You tag your boys in there? Yeah, let's go. That would have worked for me. So yeah, there's something to this that I'm pretty excited about. I think it's okay.
Starting point is 00:11:08 And... On that note, with the using the likeness, then they're just gonna make these over adapted remakes. The ones that there's too many cooks in the kitchen, there's too much DEI. There's too much inclusiveness There's just over and over that's why these movies are so unappealing. That's why every Star Wars sucks now Mm-hmm. It hasn't been good since the first six. Let's say it what there was a survey done recently. I don't know I've verified this but I was reading an article on it and, and they,
Starting point is 00:11:47 they did a survey and it said that 70% of Americans surveyed want, um, Disney to drop this LGBT stuff and just go back to like family friendly viewing. They're like, we, we don't, we don't care for that direction of it. It's just so overtly preachy. And I like inclusivity and lesbians and all that stuff, or the gays as well, I guess. But it's just so preachy. It's just like, don't feel bad about making stuff
Starting point is 00:12:23 that little kids can watch watch and that's fine. Yeah, it doesn't mean just because you don't focus on a particular issue that you don't care about it. In fact, add it somehow, but don't make it the forefront of all of the things, you know? of the things, you know, it's like, don't, don't make the point of this new, like, think, think what's great about why, like my kids will watch snow white. You know what I mean? That was filmed or made fricking 80 years ago. 30s. Dude, it's super old.
Starting point is 00:13:01 And it's because they're not trying to pull on some fad that was happening over a decade or two decades you know they didn't put like one of the gnomes in there that also wants to be a furry that wouldn't translate today like put in things that are timeless that that have a message, that make kids hopeful, you know? And if you have- Empower little girls and little boys. Exactly. If you have something that you feel very passionate about for that decade that is important at
Starting point is 00:13:37 the time, then throw in a few aspects of it. You know, just do it with a bit of class. Don't jam it down our throat because what's going to happen is people push back. They're like, that's too much. We got to slow down. And they spend so much time incorporating that and they forget to write a real story that tracks with people. Well, I think part of the struggle is, you know, I was, we were all, when I was in Vegas, with my friends from high school, we were talking about like, what about the eighties we liked as a
Starting point is 00:14:11 decade? Cause it was like an interesting decade. There was some wacky music, some wacky art, you know, there was some good things, great movies, like, but people hold that as like an iconic decade. Do you think anyone thinks about that from like 2010 to 2020? Like people like, Oh man, that decade was just something they're going to go back and make classic movies about it and be like, Oh, the cars and the clothes and no, it's just chaos during that time. Pontiac sunfires, grand prix's, remember those? Right. Golly. It's like, oh, the first Tesla, I guess we could talk about that. You know, it's just like-
Starting point is 00:14:57 The Prius. We're not making those, these decades seem less iconic for some reason reason It just all becomes a blur. I think that has to do with the homogenization of culture and there's too many cooks in the artistic kitchen Mmm, it's gotta be something like that. And there's and you know what? I don't know of course the people or the French the LGBTQ plus 2ia need I think, need representation as well. And that's beautiful, but not every movie. Let's just make a movie. Yeah, just like you have a bit of a voice.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Have that much of a voice. Elton John. Elton John was as gay as Richard Simmons on Christmas Day. And we still, and so we grew up with that guy. I mean, he's a part of our zeitgeist. Right. But every song he had, he wasn't like, I'm gay, I'm gay. I'm fucking gay. That wasn't his songs, you know, he just dressed
Starting point is 00:15:57 like he was going to a really good party, a fancy dress. And that was it. And then he was getting a he was going It was going nose deep in a pile of powder and balls deep in a pile of dudes. He loved it Yeah, and always always just bought like the best sunglasses always bought the best sunglasses Too big just stars. You're like who would wear those ever what was that uh the show that he did that he switched outfits with somebody Johnny Cash wait what he
Starting point is 00:16:35 did he did a show with somebody and they switched outfits before they got on stage oh hilarious I forget who is but it's look that one up that's hilarious that'd be good yeah I mean you got to be brave to switch and I want John out for sure There you go, he did it Well, let's let's get into a bit more of the Hamas type stuff So they're getting you know, Mike Baker knows this stuff and what's going on over there. They get a lot of money from aid. They get it from different countries. You know, they're not a poor organization.
Starting point is 00:17:12 They don't necessarily give it out very well to the needy, you know, the people that, that we all probably do feel sorry for that are getting the worst of it in Palestine and You know, it's almost like they've been taking this aid to to enrich themselves and prepare themselves for these different attacks and then also They do it under the guise of helping their people who now they are really using as pawns in this game which is really sad so so you think Mike Baker has said that they sorry that use their war effort in their war effort civilian death is a strategy right and the visual of their
Starting point is 00:18:07 them dying is a strategy well they definitely get a lot of sympathy for it and you know it's kind of a hard position to take like I know people that are very upset about what's happening over there and post a lot about it. And I know these people as well. They're kind people, right? And I have no judgment. It's like, I'm not posting things directly or like jumping in about it. It's like, I get where they're coming from. They're very upset about it. They want it to stop and they don't,
Starting point is 00:18:44 they're not wanting to like get themselves tangled up in the politics of it all, which is reasonable. Again, I reckon it's reasonable. I think that, you know, people are being exploited and you know, the the worst part about this is Hamas gets this money from international places that are aid focused and it's in the hopes that they give it out to the people of Palestine and it doesn't look like they always do. They're keeping a lot for themselves and keeping a lot for themselves and you know those poor people are they just without a lot whether they're getting bombed by Israel or not it's like they haven't been doing great over there. Yeah and every fund that you contribute to for Palestine probably goes right into the hands of a guy that's sitting 70 floors up in
Starting point is 00:19:47 Qatar in a posh penthouse. So you know people are getting rich off of this war. Like all wars right? Right. Like so many wars and that's just war bad everybody. War bad. That's just war bad, everybody. War bad. War bad, you know? But here's the difficult thing. Like let's say you're a person that just cares deeply for anybody in the world suffering and then pick up an area, doesn't matter where, right?
Starting point is 00:20:22 And then you're like, I wanna help those people and if I give them a dollar only 15 cents gets to that poor person Do you think it's still justified to do that? I'm not sure any amount of money makes it down to the people over there Something has to get to him Well, I mean it's coming from Israel if Well I mean it's coming from Israel.
Starting point is 00:20:46 If they get anything it's coming from Israel. In Palestine? Yeah, coming over the checkpoints and the border crossings and getting taken by the, if not from what I have read and listened to, if it's not Hamas that's taking that aid, it is the other warring tribal factions that exist within Palestine. They're not just Hamas that it's in power. They have gang wars over there. They have, it's not easy to live there. Right. Yeah. Poor guys.
Starting point is 00:21:19 And I think that's, you know, where it is when people's heart goes out to these people. It's like it's a fucking rough spot for them anyway. And, you know. Yeah, it's it's tough, dude. What did you what did you think about on a maybe a happier note? What did you think about our AI fighter jets being able to beat the pilots in all the simulations? And bear in mind, this is like basically round one. You know, this isn't like 10 years in the making. They just set this up.
Starting point is 00:21:59 This shit is knocking these pilots out. 100 percent of the time, they're winning in these dogfights. The AI is winning against trained pilots. Probably the best there is as far as pilots go. That's interesting. Well, you know what's interesting about it is like, they didn't design those fighter jets to be able to be AI controlled. meaning, you know, there's still limitations on how hard rocket it as fast as we want to change direction.
Starting point is 00:22:48 You know, there's probably a bunch of stuff they could have added to it. Then you put AI in. Yeah. What do you even do then? Maybe the whole shape of the plane changes. Maybe you don't even have to. The plane never needs to be on a horizon line. You know, you don't have to like go,
Starting point is 00:23:07 humans' comfortability is the limiting factor. It might not even be wings. It's like all planes could just look like missiles. Maybe that's what we're seeing with these UFOs. Yeah. UAPs. Yeah. Well, it's happening. UAPs. Yeah. It's happening. It's happening. Dude, if we start having like UAP wars, like let's say we do own them.
Starting point is 00:23:32 We have that technology or someone does. And then all of a sudden they're like, yeah, we've had it and here it is. And now AI is here. We can just fly them all. And we're just like, all of a sudden we become ants. We just like, we have no nothing, you know, like even the guys in Texas that have all the guns are like shooting into the
Starting point is 00:23:55 air to take them down. They're just as zipping around. Whatever. No, you could only shoot within the airspace. You can't shoot into space and fighter jets can go into space or they can go into the upper atmosphere where you can't even shoot a bullet or a rocket launcher. How high can they go? Sixty thousand. Oh, that's good.
Starting point is 00:24:19 That's a good question. Typical flight that we would go on is like 35,000 feet. Right. And that is five miles, right? Or five times 25,000. 25,000. Sure, I'm sure. It's pretty high.
Starting point is 00:24:36 I can't do math right now. Pretty high. It's pretty high. Yeah, it's pretty high. Fighting jets can go high, I'm sure. What was it, the SR-71-71 that spy plane that flew at like a hundred thousand feet and needed all sorts of special shit for that. The people inside have to wear like space suits. Basically yeah and it needed all
Starting point is 00:24:57 kinds of pressure control, the heat sensitive, speed, friction, bullshit. It's clever stuff. Good band too. Great band. Classic, dude. Let's put some on. Let's get band from YouTube. Yeah. Is that even the move anymore, flying high like that?
Starting point is 00:25:21 We don't need to, right? We got satellites to satellites take pictures like spy actually i think the move now is low you stay low that's it it's like stealth stuff under the radar yeah i saw a picture the other day um uh the i think it's like the f-22, which is like the real, you know, dog fighting badass plane. But one of the F-35s from like a hundred plus miles out could wreck five or six F-22s because they wouldn't even know that they're there. So it's that missiles. Yeah, it's that it's like stealth and the capability. It would just be able to lock on, shoot them all and fuck off
Starting point is 00:26:09 before you even know. And the picture, the picture I saw just showed 16 of them flying over and it said, what you see in this picture is more money than like 80% of the country's military, like the world's militaries, like how much they cost. We have like- My goodness. Yeah, we have like 300 of those fucking things. Yeah, good luck China.
Starting point is 00:26:38 They don't need luck, they have, all they need is one of those planes and they can reverse engineer it. You reckon? They can't afford the build one. Oh, well, maybe they do like the knockoff, the Ali, Ali Baba. Welcome to the bizarre. My friend, would you like some parts from a missile?
Starting point is 00:26:58 No, like the, that's not, it's a bad Chinese accent is what that is. That was, um, that was Indian. If it was anything, dude, I don't even know what that was. The making maybe. Yeah, it was a bit Jamaican. The problem is they have to. OK, so the prices of all this stuff is conflated, you know, the military charges, you know, a thousand dollars for a hammer.
Starting point is 00:27:23 So you can't trust these prices. Everyone's getting their their beaks wet. One thing I wanted to talk about before we finish up with them is, um, the idea that maybe we have these UAPs, right? And that's, that's like a theory that Rogan's been thrown around and it's not an unreasonable one. It's like, eh, maybe since the government is like, yeah, there are UFOs. We don't know where they are. So maybe let's call bullshit on the government, right?
Starting point is 00:27:51 It's like, Hmm, maybe not then maybe that is you and you're trying to distract us. However, the first Tic Tac was back in 2004 that was spotted by the fighter pilots and recorded and all the rest of it. It's like, if you had that then, if anyone did, you add 20 years of potential technology to that, what would they even, what would anyone have today? And that is actually a really good point. I haven't thought about it's like very quick. Even our shitty technology that we have, um, availability to get is exponentially growing. It's like, it's getting so much better, so fast. And if they have that 20 years ago, it's like, I had a DVD play 20 years ago.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I didn't even think. 20 years ago, I was bumping mixtapes that I made in my Cutlass Supreme beautiful car. I know classic. What is it called? Oldsville Sierra. That's what it was. That's it. That's it. Gam Gam gave me that one Oh, yeah. Yeah, I'd uh, I did have a cutler supreme 79 Classy where's your we're getting older buddy. Yeah. No, dude. I had it in like 97 that car was all the shit It wasn't like it was new it was just like a Couch a couch a giant engine was, it couldn't turn for shit.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Three couches in a row or two couches in a row. Basically. But you know, that is a good question to think about and to consider even when you're coming at it from like novice thoughts, right? You're just interested in, you're like, huh, does that make sense? 20 years on of like incredible capabilities.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I mean, you'd think whatever race had that then would be fucking time traveling by now. Well, I'm almost positive that it was, well, almost positive. That's the silly thing to say. We can talk about UAPs. Yeah, chill out. But they've always been here. Look at the cave paintings.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Look at the frescoes. Look at the Renaissance paintings. These things have been spotted before. They're described in the Bible. My question then is, like, are they then drones, right? Not flown by any alien race, and therefore are they not improving on themselves because if they've been here let's say they've been around 500 years
Starting point is 00:30:30 and they've had this technology wouldn't they then be that much more exponential like they could keep just outperforming all the time but it's like they've kind of been doing the same thing we barely barely know they're here. There's nothing to say that there's not. Yeah, but I don't know. Why would we see them at all then? Unless they want us to see them. We only see some of them. I'm sure there's other ones we don't see.
Starting point is 00:30:53 Right. But wouldn't they all be very much invisible if they didn't want to be seen? Couldn't be that difficult. I wish I had the answers for that one. But I just have to say that there's been so many descriptions and variables in the description and they're in and out of water almost half of these are in and out of water. Yeah. Going like
Starting point is 00:31:14 mock mock shnell down into the ocean and then out again. Mm-hmm. Or big rivers so it's like there's no answer that suits me just yet. Fair enough, yeah. And I'm not deeply involved in, and I'm dying on any hill for this one, but it's, it just seems like they've, it's a, if they're a time traveling race, interdimensional, if they're humans from the future or aliens,
Starting point is 00:31:43 then they are have been throughout our existence at all times. Something isn't adding up, bro. The math is not, it's not math. And it's not, it's not, we're going to have to check in with chat. GPT for the answers on this. Imagine if it just told us it's like, oh yeah, it's this. We just analyzed all the data and it looks like that.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Like it's aliens, Oh yeah, it's this. We just analyzed all the data and it looks like that. Like, it's aliens, bro. Yeah. Chat GPT was like, it was actually me all along. Sorry. You know what they're like. Welcome to the future. There we go. Love that.
Starting point is 00:32:16 All right, let's jump over to Gadsad legend. Love that guy. Great professor. Surprising that he's been able to hold out with his ideas and philosophies, you know, through the whole wokeness of everything, but he's a brave guy and yeah, yeah, so he's seeing a lot of Jew hate at universities. Nothing new. Not just the regular kind.
Starting point is 00:32:51 Yeah. Not the regular kind, but just the random Yom Kippur smacking. Yeah. But you know, he's seeing it big time. Um, I, you know, I'd be interested to talk to some Jewish people that are in university right now and like get their feedback on it. Have you seen any videos where they are getting barred from entry and getting beaten by Palestinian flags and just overall threatened and intimidated that's what's happening or they're on the side of the wokeness and our Jews Palestine well it's probably a safe spot to be for some of them I would imagine
Starting point is 00:33:31 true just like hey let's ally up so I don't get fucking beat up because I'm just trying to get my associates and whatever I mean they're we're talking about Jews let's just go ahead and stereotype. They're getting their masters in something. That piece of thing. Worth the people. That's undeniable. They are smart, smart bunch.
Starting point is 00:33:57 I guess Ashkenazis are like 15 points ahead of regular ass folks. Should Japanese Ashkenazis have some of that and Ashkenazi Jews have some of the highest IQs recorded. Wow. They do a lot of home schooling? How'd they manage that? I don't know in breeding with other smart people. Is that what it is? So like the 85 to 115 range is pretty smart. And then like the 115, 130 is really smart. And then the beyond that is almost you can't really tell where it breaks off, you know, like with the Einsteins and all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:34:35 And yeah, right. And in that and in that realm, they are overrepresented. They're like half of all the people over 135 or something. Wow. Yeah, that's remarkable. That's too much, there's too much pressure of me. I'll stay, I'll be at a hundred and I'll be happy. Yeah, you just don't want to be too confused, I would say. Yeah. Don't, don't hit the nineties.
Starting point is 00:35:03 What's that? What does that? What is it? Yeah. A lot of life is hard when you're dumb. Sorry, everybody. Yeah, it's a lot harder. It's really not very easy when you're dumb. For sure.
Starting point is 00:35:18 And then it gets harder as well when you're very smart. Your social awareness goes down. Your emotional intelligence goes down. Gad talked about something really interesting and just about people having new ideas and then getting ostracized for them. And it's similar to the COVID thing, but the Hungarian doctor that first recommended washing his hands. And, you know, I mean, we didn't understand germs before that. And I guess there was massive pushback that doctor ended up, uh, being sent to a
Starting point is 00:35:53 mental institution, hospitalized and. Institutionalized and went crazy. Yeah. And because of the thing, wasn't one of his friends die or is that Turing that I'm thinking of? He did not end well. It goes to show you that Turing committed suicide. Oh, he got poisoned.
Starting point is 00:36:17 Oh, really? Turing. It's debated. Oh, it is. All right. Well, as far as I know about him is, is he made the first computer, they have the Turing test, which is like the AI test to know if a computer is, you know, human or can pass for human.
Starting point is 00:36:39 And because he was gay, the law in England at the time was that they like it was illegal. So dumb. And then they had to chemically castrate him. And he was, yeah. And he hated it. And well, he like had to go to jail for it. And it wasn't until like in the 2000s of the Queen, like did a public apology for it and said, hey, he was a great person that did amazing work. But that's a little different of a thing because that wasn't directly related to his achievements. But to say that like, hey, guys, you should wash your fucking hands. You know, you shouldn't be like.
Starting point is 00:37:24 You know, knuckles deep in a cadaver before you go and, you know, you shouldn't be like, you know, knuckles deep in a cadaver before you go and, you know, deliver a baby, do a pelvic exam or something, right? They'll like prostate and, and then they're realizing, oh yeah, they're like, people are not dying. They're not getting sick. And, and because it just, what, what would that be ego? It just hit people's ego so hard. They're like, Oh, yes, I'm not washing my hands like a peasant. I'm a doctor.
Starting point is 00:37:56 I know what I'm doing. And it's disgusting. You know, but like that's important to remember to think that like, we're not catching this stuff all the time This is what this stuff is. This is what these biases are Like they come in we have them ourselves. We're doing it all the time We probably talk about our own biases on this podcast and we just like oh shit You know When we get new info, we try to change our opinion.
Starting point is 00:38:25 It's a good move. That's why Rogan always talks about like, don't make the ideas you, you're not your ideas. This just what you think now and be open to changing them. You know, it's like trying not to lock in and less like there are times to do it. And that's why we do it. It's like, if it really affects the way you live, COVID's a good example, right?
Starting point is 00:38:49 It was okay to lock in. You're like, hey, I like freedom. I like having a job. I like being able to travel. I like just living my life. I like being able to decide what goes into my child's arm. Right. Vacc vaccine wise. Yeah, I would like more time before I feel pressured to do something.
Starting point is 00:39:10 I mean, those things are somewhat reasonable. There's a time to take a stand, but then often you get into arguments with people. And I see this all the time, like you'll be chatting with someone over an issue, and they're like so hardcore about it. into arguments with people. And I see this all the time, like you'll be chatting with someone over an issue and they're like so hardcore about it. And I always wonder, I'm like, how does this affect you at all? And why is this like the soap box that you, you know, the hill you're willing to die on?
Starting point is 00:39:37 It just doesn't match. It doesn't make sense. You know, like, are you sponsored by them? Yeah. Like, are you, by them? Yeah. Like, do you need to... COVID turned out it didn't generally affect other people's wellbeing if you lived a normal life
Starting point is 00:39:54 and you, in close proximity with your loved ones, but far enough away from other people, kept a good hygiene and a good diet and got sunlight and exercise. Imagine if real life was like a podcast and you would just meet some people that have such a following on like Instagram. Imagine if everything becomes how many followers
Starting point is 00:40:17 you have on Instagram. It's almost the same as your credit score, right? So everyone's value is based on how many followers they have. So any normal person that you meet that has over 100,000 followers, every like 10 or 15 minutes in a conversation, they stop and do an ad in real life. And they're just like, yeah, these are my points, this is what I believe in. And then also real quick, I would like to talk to you about Pfizer and they just do it and it's all kind of a jingle.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Music comes out of nowhere. You just like, wait, what, what is happening? You're like, Oh, I see why you think that's Kelsey. Yeah, I know. He's got a t-shirt on. I don't know, dude. It's, um, anyways, get new information, assess it, value it, assess its credibility, and change your opinion accordingly if it suits you.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Right. Don't want anybody to push you around. Yeah, I would say. And this brings up his next point. He goes, a great predictor of future success in your children is how many books you have at your house. Now that one, I think that it would make sense though. What's, what's funny when you think about it is like somebody just owning a bunch of
Starting point is 00:41:42 books and they don't read them. Hey, you know what I mean? It's like, that's what I thought. It's like, you could have a whole library and you're like, I'm not a big reader. I just love having a bunch of books. I haven't got around a reading. Yeah, that's not the anamorphs. It's not going to make your kids smart, but if you are a reader, you know, and you can teach your kids to read as well, or really teach anyone around you. You should encourage your friends to read. If you're a reader, encourage them to read more. Have a whole tribe of people in your life that are reading. I love to check in with my friends and be like,
Starting point is 00:42:20 you read any books? How many books you read a year? People often inflate it. They like to, you know, but you, you kind of also know which one of your friends will like inflate that number instead of giving you an honest one. You're like, ah, dude, you ain't reading 20, but oh yeah, I read like 20. I try to read 50. You're like, shut the fuck up. I've never seen you read ever. Mostly adult farm erotica.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Yeah. Bigfoot erotica. It's good. Didn't you do, nevermind. I did, I did. That's not good. So I didn't get a job. But I wanted to corner the market. You didn't sound so scratchy enough.
Starting point is 00:43:03 They should have hired me. I might go back and do it again. But it's a fascinating thing to think about, especially in today's age where it's like, I don't want to say books are like obsolete, but you know, with podcasts and audio books, that still counts. We talked about that earlier. That's still like worth getting into. However, sitting down, spending the time reading, having that like, there's like a meditative, quiet portion that
Starting point is 00:43:37 happens when you're doing it. It's like very low stimulus and high imagination and creativity in a way, depending on what you're reading. It depends on what you're reading, but you can lock in and really absorb this stuff. I remember that my most favorite time is when I was younger was sneaking out to the hot tub with a joint and a book and just puffing away on it, eating ice cream sandwiches. Reading that sounds like something you would do.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Erotica and big fun. No, mostly mysteries unexplained. Goosebumps. Oh, yeah. David Gemmell's sword and sorcery books. And I've only in the last 20 years. I basically have mostly been nonfiction yeah trying to get trying to get something out of it there's a lot to learn a lot to learn but you know it's good to throw in some fiction to there's some classics that really get the creativity flowing I
Starting point is 00:44:41 don't think it's like holding on to something from the past, you know, I think it's something else, you know Think about music. It's like you're not listening to most Music from the past like you'll do a few decades, but there is a time for Classical music just to put it on and listen to it. It was like a powerful You know, we're not like listening to Roman songs for the most part, unless you listen to the soundtrack of gladiator, which is worth it. But you know, it's like classical is just like this time period, you know, Mozart, Beethoven, all this, it's just like, they nailed it.
Starting point is 00:45:23 They nailed it. You know, Mozart, Beethoven, all this, it's just like. They nailed it. They nailed it. And it has its place. And it's like, books also do that with all of the ways that we can get information today. You can sit on your phone, you can do all these things. I think that if you could take sample groups of people
Starting point is 00:45:39 and be like, all right, we're just gonna give them all iPads and this group does get an iPad but they mostly can't use it and then they have to read a book you know for a bunch of times and then you just watch their whole lives I've for sure their lives are going to be better they're going to be able to just figure things out move smoother they're going to be better at. They're going to be better at chess. They're going to be better at thinking. Just trading. It's going to work out. I think that that is statistic. Um, about, uh, success with, with kids that have a books in the home has to also, uh,
Starting point is 00:46:19 to do with the parents are the people that have books in a home. They are parents. Yeah, they're. They're going to talk about books. They're going to, there's a lot of elements to it. I think that's more than just like- They have food. If you got books, you got food. If you got books, you got parents that make you go to school. Yeah. It's similar to what Jordan Peterson says about people that make, you make your bed, your life gets better. And it's not about just making your bed. It's like you make your bed and change nothing else. Yeah. Your bed is nice and your life sucks.
Starting point is 00:46:53 But the point that he's making is like the first thing in the morning, you create some order in your life. There's a trickle down effect. You're going to do it all day and you know, you're going to change things. The last thing I want to hit on before we, uh, skit at all. Cause I got to cook some steaks. Um, excellent. Yeah. Gad said to Joe, who would you have at your barbecue?
Starting point is 00:47:19 And Joe brought up Hunter S Thompson, legendary choice. Kind of surprised that it took Gabb that long to know who that was but maybe not everyone knows. I think Gadd was like a little not disappointed but maybe like surprised he was surprised that he wouldn't know who the person was and I love that about Rogan that he would pick someone like that Hunter is a wine house fantastic choice Amy yeah do some harem with her and have talk everyone yeah crack maybe love that who would you in vodka who would you have a year if there was one person who would it be gosh that is a good Ramsey's the second.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Really? Oh, just to be like, how do you build those bitches? What's going on with that guy? Hmm. I actually I actually had another one in mind. I don't remember who it was, but it was. I think there are some choices that I'd pick right now just to like they would I would have so much fun with like Christopher Hitchens I could get if I could sit down with him at the feet of the master right and talk talk with him or you know what about Jesus I don't know just gonna put it out there all right yeah dude I think it would just be Dave Chappelle for me You know, I know but I don't care. I want him there. I don't have to wait till he dies
Starting point is 00:48:52 You sit down with Dave smoke a joint and for the next Two or three hours laugh your ass off while eating some steaks. I couldn't imagine anything better than that. I'm not trying to pick the brains of historians like Genghis Khan. He gets all intense and he's like, yeah, fuck a lot of women and killed the world. Murder, murder, murder. Yeah, I don't. I'm not interested. Most powerful people would just talk about how they got powerful. I just I don't care.
Starting point is 00:49:24 We know they subjugated the weak and consolidated money and resources. We get it. Gangus. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not into it. I don't want to know. All right. Second pick that Dave Chappelle and who else historical figure historical. Oh, dead has to be dead. Appel and who else historical figure historical. Oh, dead. Has to be dead. Or hell, why not? Another live guy, if you want to, but dead is, that is a little more.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Oh, I think maybe Douglas Adams. He did the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy books. I love those. I love those books growing up. I love those books. Elon loves those too. He thinks they're like, like maybe some of the most philosophical books ever written. And he was very funny.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Yeah. But he was also like, I know some things about him. Like he was a bit wacky. I don't know. I don't know if it would be annoying. I'm rereading. I'm rereading the Chronicles of Narnia to my niece when she comes over. So we're going through the horse and his boy.
Starting point is 00:50:37 And I have always been a C.S. Lewis fan boy. It's pretty good, dude. Especially in my early days, but it's coming back coming back this guy he can write a book he's good yeah it's I can and I can see the story forming in her mind and it's like oh to be a kid and like getting immersed in this stuff again would be mm-hmm Tolkien would be one for me I guess as well you know I'd be into rolled ah I liked rolled our Dahl books growing up, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Starting point is 00:51:07 and the Giant Peach and all that. You know, he was like a high ranking, like Navy official in World War II. And potentially a spy. All those guys were in the service, Tolkien was. And, and yeah, he got out and was like, all right, the world's crazy.
Starting point is 00:51:24 I'd rather just write kids books and, you know, something to that. I mean, maybe, but I don't know. I do. Like, I'm not even into like having the super heaviest intellectual dinner either. I'd rather just have a blast, dude. Who? Okay. Give me, give me a Shane Gillis dinner. That'd be fucking great. I'd love that. That might happen someday for us. We can still bank on that one. Yeah. Yeah. We'd, we'd text them, see what's up. All right.
Starting point is 00:51:54 That's it for this week. We love you guys. Thanks for hanging out with us and thank you Pete as always. Thank you Adam. And thank you everybody who's, who's listened this long. Appreciate you. Talk to you next week.
