You are listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review Podcast.
We find little nuggets, treasures, valuable pieces of gold in the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast
and pass them on to you, perhaps expand a little bit.
We are not associated with Joe Rogan in any way.
Think of us as the talking dead to Joe's walking dead.
You're listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review.
What a bizarre thing we've created.
Now with your host Adam Thorne.
This might either be the worst podcast or the best one of all time.
Two, one, go. Enjoy the show. Hey guys, welcome to a special episode and you know a bit of a sad
episode really I guess of the Joe Rogan experience review. We're just covering the historical events
really. That's what we're doing. We're just here to blab about it. Yeah, we're just covering historical events, really.
That's what we're doing.
We're just here to blab about it.
Yeah, we're just here to blab about the shocking
turn of events of this weekend
where Donald Trump was almost assassinated.
The reason I wanted to do a pod on this is because,
I mean, it leaks into everything and many of the things
that we discuss in
the Rogan sphere anyway
politics and the tensions and what's happening and blah blah blah and also
This is an unusually rare event
It doesn't happen often the last one of these was Reagan in 83. Before that JFK and that's
massive talking point and conspiracy theory on the Rogan podcast. So before
videos changed too much or were taken down or switched around. I know there was a lot of that weirdness happening during 9-11. I wanted to take all the
information that was fresh that we saw as laymen just checking it over and talk
about it, make some sense of it, discuss how it feels, you know, what it's like to
see it.
You know, this for me isn't quite the same as 9-Eleven. Like I was watching the TV,
I saw some other people watching the TV
in a gym in England when 9-Eleven happened.
Like that's my, you know, whenever anyone asks,
like where were you during 9-Eleven?
Like that for me was there.
This time it was a little different.
It was Pete that texts me, actually.
Didn't you Pete?
Yeah.
You were just like-
I'm gonna be here on this sad aftermath.
Yeah, I was in bed.
Of course I was memeing and that one popped up on my meme.
I saw Trump get shot in the ear.
Damn.
Incredible.
Yeah.
And then you just text me and I was like, wait, what?
I thought you were just joking, dude.
I thought that was a joke.
Not even like you would make jokes like that,
but it was just some random nonsense that you,
or I would look at it and he was paintballing.
It was something that wasn't that
But yeah wild and and I and I think because
Because he did just like get up fist pump walk away in such an iconic way and like so many people
You know just love to hate him so much. It's like, we're gonna brush over this.
But I mean, it was incredibly close.
I mean, he turned-
Oh, it was a fraction of an inch.
He turned his head at the very last minute
and they're pretty sure from the angle
it would have blown the back of his head off.
Yeah, it was actually-
We would have watched him die.
They're saying this guy was a bad
shot. He got, he flunked out of his shooting class at a, I think his college or
his high school. Huh? And then he got kicked.
He got kicked out because it was a bad shot, but this was not a bad shot.
That would have gone right through the target really. Yeah.
And what was it? It was about 130 yards too, right?
Yeah, I think so.
So it's not a very long shot.
A lot of people could make that shot.
Though to be fair, if he's just got on a roof
and saw a cop come up and scared the cop off
and then like had to kind of like restead himself
and get ready for a shot.
I mean, you know, that's where it gets tough for a shooter.
That's not obviously like Navy SEAL level trained.
I mean, he's just a kid that flunked out of his shooting class.
There's probably a lot happening in his mind, and I'm surprised
he even got it as close as he did.
I mean, let's say that was a pretty accurate shot.
People are claiming by the grace of God that this missed his head and it's incredible.
Yeah, wild stuff, you know?
And of course, this opens up the doors to conspiracy theorists and like, what did the
Secret Service do?
What did they not do? And you know, why were there so many
female Secret Service people there
that seemed kind of according to the video quite clumsy,
not really in that great of shape,
not exactly that nimble to like get people down.
You know what gets me is often you see Secret Service guys,
even the men there, They're like older men.
Yeah.
Why are they not all like Navy SEAL level young spry super fit badasses?
Like what is this?
You seen the guys?
Older guys.
They all look like they're in their fifties.
What are like 50 year old things doing?
I think it's a cush job for one. So they want it.
So those guys have been in there the longest. They probably get it. Also,
this might be the bullet that kills DEI in our government because.
Fuck that. This is the president, whether you like him or not,
like former president, but also anyone running is like,
you know, even RFK now has secret service.
I can't believe it took like an assassination attempt
for him to get it.
I mean, just look at his family, like honestly,
but he has it now.
It should be the best people, right?
Not like out of shape, goofy women that can't do anything
while even holstered their gun.
Plus like these older guys,
and these older guys may be like bad-ass, right?
They may be able to do like freaking Kip-Up pull-ups
and CrossFit for days.
But dude, you give me a 30 year old
that's jacked as fuck, roided to the gills,
can shoot like a rifle from both arms and do a standing backflip with a suit on.
It's like those are the guys right? You basically you set up a ninja warrior course and if the if you can't finish it you don't get to be secret service
Right. How good do they need to be at like following maps and whatever else?
They're actually trying to do it's like you got to be ready to go and you literally have to be a human shield
So human shield and snapping necks. They got a massive. Get the guys, like the guys that Putin has killers.
Oh yeah.
Incredible security.
Dude, I've got a feeling that Putin's security
would make our secret service look like shit,
especially after what we just saw.
Like I don't want to bash on American secret service.
I think we've probably got some great people in
there. But the other weekend was a disaster. I don't think that that's unreasonable to say.
And I don't think Putin would have anyone around him that wouldn't do an incredible job in that
position. Why would he not? And protecting himself. Let's see, Jill Biden was doing a function,
and so the Secret Service was split that day as well.
So she had siphoned away some of the top,
maybe the top members to her function, protecting her.
Wow.
Which is ridiculous because what's the real security risk?
It's not, Jill, nobody's really trying to take her out.
No.
Yeah.
No.
Incredible.
Dare I say, no one cares about Jill Biden.
No one.
Like, what are you doing?
What are you doing, Jill?
No one cares.
It's like, great.
Oh, you go into a function?
What are you doing?
Like cooking brownies or like like what are you up to?
Luncheon?
Like no one's trying to shoot you.
No one.
A knitting event.
Yeah, I love it.
Well, I've got some videos that I wanna go through.
Most of them are pretty short,
but one of them is a bit longer.
That one kind of does a really good timeline
of the whole event.
And since the way that we set this podcast up
because we don't do YouTube and a lot of the bullshit, like you just well, fuck them.
They can't cancel us if they don't like it.
And they're like, you use too much of my video, whatever.
Suck it. We're using it.
All right. This is stuff we're into.
We're interested. We're watching it and we're using it. All right. This is stuff we're into. We're interested. We're watching it
and we're playing it for everyone else. So deal with it. But yeah, we're going to start off with
a Wall Street Journal video that it just kind of is debunking conspiracy theories. So, so yeah,
let's get into that. Oh, actually, I fucked that up.
Hold on.
Sorry.
Sorry, I changed the microphones for some reason, but I'll change it back.
Here we go.
Okay.
Ready?
After math of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, misinformation and conspiracy
theories spread rapidly online.
It took authorities roughly eight hours
to publicly confirm the identity of the gunman
because he was not carrying ID.
This allowed ample time for unfounded theories
about the gunman's identity to spread widely.
As reports of the shooter's name began to surface
and the FBI confirmed his identity as Thomas Matthew Crooks,
many on social media began posting a photo
of someone they thought was the shooter.
But this image was incorrect.
The person who was actually in the photos responded on X posing as the real shooter
and mocking those who shared images of him.
My name is Thomas Matthew Crooks.
I hate Republicans.
I hate Trump.
And guess what?
You got the wrong guy."
Still, screenshots and edited clips of the video
spread widely as though it were a message
from the real shooter.
Another widespread conspiracy theory
shared by would-be internet sleuths
claimed that a dark spot on Trump's chest in a photo
was proof he had been shot in the chest
and had been saved by a bulletproof vest.
Photos of the same moment show there is no bullet hole in his jacket.
Trump later released a statement saying he was shot in the ear.
This unfounded theory was viewed millions of times
after being shared by several popular accounts.
This same moment also fueled conspiracy theories
that the shooting was staged.
In one post viewed millions of times,
an ex-user claimed if there were actual danger,
the Secret Service would not have allowed Trump
to remain a target after shots were fired.
Former Secret Service agents the journal spoke to
said the agents around the former president
were acting in a way that was consistent
with the agency's protocol.
Hold that in your head.
It's bloody.
So we gotta move to the bus.
Move to the bus.
They moved quickly to surround him and then worked together effectively to move him from
the stage once it was safe to do so.
The rush to establish a motive for the shooting also led to viral misinformation.
Ex-users claimed the video of a man shouting hateful comments about Republicans was of
the shooter.
Who has Republican Trump?
Who has racist Trump?
In reality, the video is of an Arizona State University student reacting to Trump's acquittal
after his impeachment trial in 2020.
Crooks was still in high school at the time in Pennsylvania. Thomas Crooks.
This video of Bethel Park High School's commencement ceremony shows him graduating in 2022.
X did not respond to a request for comment.
Some of the original posts no longer appear on the platform,
and others have been tagged with community notes from other ex users correcting the posts.
But misinformation continues to spread rapidly.
So the Wall Street Journal, they're kind of, I don't know, they're kind of like
blaming X a little bit for like this type of thing.
But, you know, that's that's a bullshit thing to do
because it's not a news source like the Wall Street Journal.
Like the Wall Street Journal has to be careful
about just saying whatever happened
and like they need to vet things.
But the X, you know, they need to vet things. But the X,
you know, in social media is like community discussion,
it's just a platform to share.
Yeah. And it's happening as fast as you want. And then it,
and then it does like somewhat clean itself up because things
get verified, but it's like, Hey, this is the information. As I
see it as quick as I can give it to you, make sense of it.
I'm trying to make sense of it.
There we go, this is what we got.
Even when they show me that first video of that kid,
the supposed shooter, but it wasn't him,
it was someone that looks like him,
and he's like, I'm not the guy.
I got that one.
I got it.
I saw it somewhere, I sent it to, I think you, you know, it's like,
it's okay that it's not perfectly verified and, you know, Snopes hasn't looked at it and it's
fact checked and, you know, we're just, we're just running through some ideas.
It's an important thing to do during that time. Like, you know, let's come together as a community
and make sense of this, you know, like how come together as a community and make sense of this.
You know, like, how else are we supposed to do it?
We all have to sit back and be completely quiet until everything has been vetted and
made truthful.
And now we're like, oh, okay, we can all agree together.
It's kind of on the same vein of there, you want to control the narratives. I was watching
that Piers Morgan thing I think it was yesterday or the couple a couple days
ago and he has a clip on there where he has maybe ten journalists comparing
Trump to Hitler over and over which is unfair honestly you know unfounded out
of context statements by Trump
and then they just draw parallel.
I can no longer find those on YouTube.
So it is, there is some bias here
about where to shift blame.
Now I wanna put it on somebody.
Yeah, actually we did pull up a clip
that kinda goes over that and I won't play all of it, but it does
kind of go through some of the older clips and you know, we all kind of remember them.
You know, people just like the demonization of this guy is out of control.
It has been.
It's like he might as well be Satan for a lot of people that aren't even religious.
They just have blue hair.
All right, so I'm gonna play a few of these
and just remind ourselves of like
how we've revved up this person
and let's talk about it
and see if there's any validity to it.
Some of those examples, as you said,
we know that the left-wing media in the US,
they've spent the past four years trying to, one, hide the fact that Joe Biden is clearly a vegetable, and two, as you said, paint Donald Trump to be some sort of demonic dictator.
But have a look at this by CNN. Hitler's Mein Kampf, you would find the Nazi leader describing the mixing of non-Germans
with Germans as poisoning.
There's really no other way to say it.
Donald Trump's language mirrors this directly.
And then there's an inflammatory rhetoric being spun by the Democrats.
Have a listen to Democrat delegate Stacey Plaskett slipping up.
Having Trump not only have had the codes, but now having the classified information for a whoopsie she clearly they are almost going to say that Donald Trump needs to be shot and have a look at congressman Dan
Goldman who said this last year
That man cannot see public office again. He is not only unfit
He is destructive to our democracy and he has to be he has to be eliminated
Sebastian, you know if you were some sort of crazed kook
who kept hearing that Trump is a dictator,
Trump is Hitler, Trump's a threat to democracy,
somewhere in your mentally unstable mind,
you would take this as a call to arms, words matter.
Is this the hysterical rhetoric
that's been amplified by the mainstream media?
Is this what's invited lunatics to take matters into their own hands?
Absolutely. And it wasn't just, you know, 24 hours ago.
We've seen this again and again and again.
Nobody knows these names because they've been deep-sixed by the mainstream.
Yeah, we have seen this over and over again.
I don't know what it is. There is something about like right wing Australians that I'm into.
They might be my favorite right wing people.
Not that I have like a list of other right wingers that I'm into,
but even at my most liberal,
I think I like the style of like Australian right wingers.
They just have that like,
I don't give a fuck, mate.
You can just shut up.
I'll just throw a fricking kangaroo
right through your window.
There's, I don't mean to mock them.
Like I think they're great.
I like their style.
I like the way that,
like why are we getting so many good?
videos from Australia talking about like US
Politics it's almost like they have a big problem with the some
Left-wing ideologies down there. Oh, they do the same problem. They're the same problems. We have maybe a bit of a why they focusing on our
Stuff just focus on your own best in the world, I guess, right? I guess, yeah.
They like talking about us.
I don't think the British news talks about
or the wackiest.
what's going on in America that much.
Like not really.
I mean, they mentioned some stuff, but yeah.
In England, I think over the last 10 years,
two politicians have been killed.
So they have a little more political violence than we do.
And wait in England on.
Oh, yeah. Oh, damn.
Yeah. So they've got some stuff going on over there, too.
Yeah. Yeah. So there we go.
I mean, look, they they've been demonizing this person.
And don't don't get me wrong.
I mean, you could say the same thing about Joe Biden.
They've got the who's the race car driver that they're always let's go Brandon, right? Let's
go Brandon. So basically the NASCAR crowd was chanting, you know, fuck Joe Biden. And I'm not
and I'm not sure I guess the reporter was like, oh oh look, they're saying let's go brand.
And it became the whole thing.
I mean, yeah.
So is that demonization or is it just like this guy's an idiot?
I haven't heard many Republicans say Joe Biden needs like he should be shot.
He's the worst thing ever.
Like I don't hear anything close to that at all.
And we've been listening. We pay attention. So they're
just like he sucks and get him out, which it seems like he
does. And it also seems like the entire Democratic Party is
figuring that out now. But but like nobody's complicit.
Nobody's trying to be like he's Hitler. You know, he's the worst thing that ever. I just feel like people have like,
it's just so interesting to me that people have gone
so far off the reservation with their inability
to just see something for how it is.
It's like COVID was the first time for me that I noticed that
some of my friends that I respected as intelligent, moral human beings could just be so clearly
blind to something happening in front of them. And it sounds pretty arrogant me saying it.
It's like, Oh, how did I know? But I just kind of stayed away from the politics of it and just like, watch the
events unfold. And I'm like, all right, that.
We were in California.
Yeah, that event is fucked up. This thing is wrong. This thing is, you know,
especially because I was on the side of the party that was doing the fucked up
things. I had like less bias.
I was trying to find how it makes sense.
I wanted to believe in them.
Just didn't line up.
And you know, and many of these same people
that were like completely bamboozled by the COVID stuff
were also like massively hating on Donald Trump
and early on.
And I'm just, like, I could just never really put my finger
on like what it was.
Like they'd have some ideas.
It would be like all the abortion laws
or the immigration laws or da da da.
I'm like, yeah, all right.
And he says some wacky things, but hold on.
We're not, we don't seem to be going to war as much. That is, seems to be
good. The economy seems good. People can still buy houses. I mean, people certainly can't do that now.
I mean, since Biden has been in, there's like 20% like raise in cost of everything. You know, groceries have basically doubled, you know?
And the way that people are breaking down like that inflationary issue is like,
oh yeah, well over last month or in the last three months,
you know, it's not that bad.
It's all reasonable numbers.
I'm like, trust me, bro.
Since fucking 2020, shit is way more expensive now.
And a lot of people can't afford to basically live.
That's not good.
Those are just the facts people see on this on the streets that now New York is now a
battleground state.
Before I was always blue.
It has been since like the 60s, I think.
Yeah, it's not a fucking coincidence.
If you wanna keep closing your eyes to what's happening,
and be like, no way, dude, the blue is the only way.
I'm just like, okay, what you've done
is demonize some person so much
that probably some 20-year-old got radicalized and now shot at a
person.
It's like you're the side that talks about gun control and safety with guns, yet you're
the side that did it.
And they want to point out that this kid was also like signed up as a Republican or whatever. He like, well, look, he obviously isn't if he shot at Trump.
I mean, there's a theory that he was signed on as a Republican to vote against him in
the Pennsylvania primary because you can only vote for your side.
Right.
So he probably signed up as a Republican to vote for the other guy.
Right. And that's what they're speculating.
Yeah.
And that would make sense.
I mean, that would make sense to just assume that.
I think I'm a registered Democrat too.
If you're hating at that level, then, you know, and doing it and spreading it
amongst all kinds of people in your party, like this is the end result.
Like Biden isn't walking around right now super scared that he's going to be killed by a Republican and they have all the guns and can
actually shoot well. And you don't need to be worried about them. Why? Because they're not about
shooting all the presidents. They haven't done it for a fucking really long time
right and in fact who is the actual person that said let's get Trump in a
bullseye oh yeah I said that yeah dude that what that's a fucked up state said
that that's a really bad on the no you can't find it there's scrubbing this
stuff and this is why I want to do this podcast. I tried to call some of my more liberal buddies today, you know, good old Dave and
Trev, Trev has been on this podcast before we had a great conversation with COVID.
Um, and I wanted to just get a bit of feedback and like, Hey, what's
important to talk about?
What should we discuss?
Because I, all these angles are important.
You know, every, every voice from everyone.
I respect these people's opinions.
But, you know, it sometimes is pretty easy to see
where like the blindness of these conversations comes in.
And it's shocking. the blindness of these conversations comes in.
And it's shocking. The most shocking thing is like reflecting it back
to these people and they don't see it.
They're just so sure that how they're going about
everything makes sense.
And it's wild to me, dude.
And you're unhinged because you don't believe that same stuff.
Oh yeah. Like, or we must be conspiracy theorists, right? Because the New York Times said that, uh,
said something we said was wrong and they're real reporters.
And it's like, please dude.
They're probably fucking chat GPT
and 90% of their stories these days.
You know they are.
I want to play this thing from Fern.
It's a great set of videos online.
Again, Fern, I hope you don't mind me playing this.
If you do, don't really care, do what you want.
But you do make great shit.
And really, this is the best breakdown that I've seen.
I'll put the link in the bio so you guys can watch it.
But we're going to play it now.
It's like six minutes long.
It's worth looking over.
And then Pete and I will talk about it.
It's the 13th of July in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at a rally.
It's only days until he plans to accept the official Republican nomination.
He's just minutes into his speech when shots are fired.
Take a look at what happened. Trump got hit, but survived.
Someone tried to assassinate him in broad daylight.
Here is how it unfolded. By the time this video is published, new details might have emerged.
It's a hot, sweltering early evening as tens of thousands gather here to see Trump.
Pennsylvania is one of six vital swing states that will help secure the win in the next
presidential election.
Butler skews heavily Republican, and it is a blue-collar town.
— U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!
— This is a big crowd. This is a big, big, beautiful crowd.
— He is surrounded by supporters.
Most are sitting or standing in front of the stage.
Some sit on the bleachers, center, left, and right.
Trump's support staff and security,
including Secret Service agents, are right at the stage.
Behind him are three large buildings.
On the roof of the building on the far left
and on the far right are Secret Service snipers.
They are constantly scanning the surroundings,
looking for threats.
They can be seen in this video filmed by a crowd member.
Hello, Butler, and hello to Pennsylvania.
I'm thrilled to be back.
Trump begins with his speech.
Things seem normal.
He turns to the right and points at a chart
showing statistics on border crossings.
At the same time, several people in the crowd
notice a man with a gun on the roof of a building
close by.
It's too late.
All of a sudden, bullets start flying.
One even gets captured on camera.
Another building about 400 feet or 120 meters north of the stage.
The shots are coming from here, on the roof.
The gunman is 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
He is armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
The gun was legally purchased by his father.
First, he apparently fires a round of three shots.
Take a look at what happened.
Trump reaches up with his hand.
The first bullet pierces the upper part of his right ear.
He will later say that turning over to the right at that exact moment
prevented the bullet from hitting him right in the head.
He ducks down behind the podium,
and within three to four seconds after the first shot,
Secret Service agents swarm the former president
and shield him with their bodies.
Crooks opens fire again, immediately, with five more shots.
Right before the first shot by Crooks,
one of the snipers on the left roof behind Trump
seems to detect the gunman and prepares to return fire.
Take a look at what happened.
Yeah, so I just want to pause this one for a second.
So we got eight shots off?
Yeah. Eight shots, dude.
That's an incredible video. I recommend watching that, everybody. That is awesome.
Yeah, eight shots. Too many damn shots, Pete.
Eight shots?
It's like...
Wait, like that is blowing my mind right now. Let's continue.
I just wanted to pause for a second and be like eight eight shots, dude
You're gonna kill someone give me the last shot on we hear. Yeah, give me eight shots with a gun
I don't even know how to shoot properly. I'm gonna hit something with one of those shots. You know, I mean, oh
Yeah
Anyway, can't work top More some outlets report that these snipers killed crooks while the Secret Service confirmed its personnel neutralized the shooter
We could not corroborate that it was in fact these specific agents the gunmen also hit spectators on the bleachers one man died
50 year old Cory Comperdor two others were critically injured with Trump's microphone still on we can hear the tense
Oh, I just want to throw out that,
that guy, God bless him, firefighter, hero,
damn shame, my prayers go out to the family, really.
And also-
Two daughters, he seems like a great guy,
church-going guy, community member.
Real painful stuff.
And Biden actually called his wife
to offer his condolences.
And she said that she won't accept the call
because he was such an adamant supporter
of the Republican party that he wouldn't want her to talk to
him, which, you know, God bless, a little bit legendary as well.
I'm not going to lie.
I just wanted to add that.
She's a warrior.
Yeah, warrior.
... changes among the agents.
Move to the spare.
Move to the spare.
Hold, hold.
When you're ready.
On you.
Ready.
Move. Up. spare. Move it to the spare. Hold, hold. When you're ready, on you. Ready. Move.
Move.
Go.
About 42 seconds after Cook's open fire,
they confirm the shooter is down.
Are we good?
Shooter's down.
Shooter's down.
Are we good to move?
We're clear.
We're clear.
Let's move.
We're clear.
They prepare to escort him to an armored vehicle.
Come on, sir, come on. Let me get my shoes. Let me get my shoes. I got you, sir. him to an armored vehicle. Let me get my shoes.
Let me get my shoes.
I got you sir, I got you sir.
Let me get my shoes.
Hold that in your head.
So we gotta move to the crush.
Let me get my shoes.
Okay, let's move.
What if those shoes he was trying to get were crops?
Watch out.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
In about 75 seconds after ducking to the ground, Trump raises his fist.
He's mouthing the words, fight, fight, fight.
Let's go.
The resulting photos immediately travel
around the entire world.
Legendary shots.
USA, USA, USA.
That's a culture president shot.
That's a culture president shot.
USA, USA, USA, USA.
USA, USA, USA, USA.
Trump is then rushed to a hospital.
Later that night, he is flown to New Jersey.
He appears to be well.
Alright, we're gonna end it at that.
That one, it's a good video.
Those guys always do a good job.
You know, look, Dana White said it best.
Like, you know, a lot of guys like to think they're tough.
Dana knows better than anyone
how well someone does when the pressure is really on. I mean, he's talking about fighting,
but like there's many ways to fight as well. There's, there's just people that talk the
big talk and don't fucking back it up. And to be honest, you know, Trump just, he just fucking got shot, fell down, got back up, fist pumped,
took one of the most iconic pictures in American history that will go down like as a legendary
shot.
And you know, here's the thing too.
It's like, even if half the country has absolutely hated this
person, I mean, that's, this is not the first time that presidents have been
hated for different things. But over time, people are more forgiven unless
you are adult Hitler, then no, you do not get forgiven. But like, you know,
even Genghis Khan today, people are just like, Oh, that's a good podcast. I mean, you know, they get over it and then they just start focusing on like, you know, even Genghis Khan today, people are just like, Oh, that's a good podcast. I mean, you know, they get over it and then they just start focusing on
like, Oh, what did they actually do? What, what were their policies? Like, and a
picture like that is, I mean, he could not have accidentally walked into the most
incredible thing. And it was because he didn't piss his pants,
start crying, lay on the ground. He stood up like a warrior. The dude is 80 years old.
I wouldn't have done that Pete. I would have shit my pants, lead on the ground.
It would have been one of the most embarrassing displays of an escape because I would have been shot in the ear
and it's reasonable he didn't give a fuck dude they were trying to get him off that stage and
he was like get out my way I'm gonna tell everyone to fight and I'm gonna fist pump for a couple of
minutes yeah it was it was kind of heartwarming and the crowd just stood there and chanted USA
Oh, they didn't rush they didn't run away. They didn't stampede. No
if that was a
Democratic crowd dude, they would have freaked number one. They don't even like going outside without their masks on so
Let's be on to pace you that got some
Sombra
That blue hair would have would have reacted with the UV rays.
Who knows?
The streaks running down their face.
Yeah.
It would have just been a lot for them.
It would have been a lot.
And this crowd didn't even budge.
Not to say there are a lot of great Democrats.
A lot of great Democrats.
I know at least four.
You have to come together.
That's... Yeah, there's a couple out there. Democrats I know at least you have to come for that's
Yeah, there's a couple out there, but it's like we this is this has made me really
Be more friendly like I'm trying to be a little more friendly over here. Let's be friendly
And let's calm down with both of them, right? Okay, you don't like one of them. Listen to me when I say this.
I have never wanted Joe Biden shot, killed.
Like honestly, even though it was funny
to watch him fall off his bike,
I still felt bad because he's an old man.
And I was like, oh dude, I hope he doesn't like break a hip
or like something that was, is really painful
for an old person to deal with.
Also, because I didn't want to watch the president
for like the next two or three years
having to like hobble around, you know,
which he kind of is doing anyway.
I don't think it's cause of the bike accident, but yeah,
I just don't want people in like these positions getting injured.
I don't think a lot of politicians are good. I, I,
I get frustrated with them often, you know,
especially any of their insider trading stuff, Nancy Pelosi,
but I don't, I don't want them getting killed.
I don't want them getting injured. Like that's not a solution that makes me feel
good.
So I think if we could all calm down about that for a second and realize,
Hey, we made a mistake here with our thinking, our brains were a bit off,
you know? And if you did find yourself going down that route, I would say, Hey,
also have a look over like some of your other thinking.
Maybe look at your COVID thinking.
Look at some of the other ways that you've been thinking and be like, maybe I fucked
this up too.
Like, it's okay to like re-examine and just be like, yeah, I think I was getting a bit
worked up, a bit ideological.
It's not needed.
Someone else was telling us how to think.
Someone else is telling you how to think.
That's more of what I think it is.
It's like this isn't coming from these individuals.
They wouldn't have been making these pretty silly decisions, I don't think.
I wanted to see if there was anything else.
Yeah, we got a little bit about the shooter and like how long he was on the roof and how
he was being engaged.
And this is a big part of it too.
It's like, you know, any conspiracy theories aside, if this kid worked on his own and it was just about him,
how the fuck did a 20 year old
that failed out of a shooting class
that hasn't had any type of military training potentially
or God knows what, how did he get in a position
to get these eight shots off?
And I want to play this and then and then we kind of end with that.
The phone and laptop of the 20 year old suspected gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Sources tell NBC News those devices have not yielded any major new evidence
related to a possible motive.
Authorities did recover a receipt for a ladder bought from Home Depot
on the alleged gunman's body.
Officials are now looking to see if that ladder was brought to the site and used to get access
to that roof.
NBC News correspondent Stephanie Goss is at that rally site in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Steph, I know you just spoke to a local official who talked about the confrontation that police
had with the gunman just before the shooting of the former president.
What did he say to you?
This is pretty remarkable, Kate.
So I spoke with the Butler Township manager
who oversees the town, including the police department.
And what he told me is that local Butler Township
police officers locked eyes with this shooter
before he actually opened fire on the former president.
That they were hanging, one of the officers
was hanging off of the rooftop, locked eyes with him
and had an AR-15 pointed at his head
before he dropped to the ground.
Listen to the way that this town manager
describes the situation to me.
When he was able to pull his head up over the roof,
he did in fact see an individual on the roof with a weapon.
He saw the shooter?
He did.
And what did the shooter do?
Turn towards him, had the barrel of his weapon pointed at the officer.
Well, he pointed his rifle at the officer.
Yes.
And at that point, the officer's hanging on to the side of the roof?
Yes. Unable to pull a gun out? And at that point the officers hanging on to the side of the roof? Yes
Unable to pull a gun out unable to unable to defend himself unable to reach his radio any of that. Yeah. Yeah strictly
Defensive movement for him to lower his head duck
Lost his own grip right fell proxley feet to the ground
Lost his own grip right fell proxely feet to the ground
Okay, I'm gonna have to stop that right there
Fell eight feet to the ground. Okay, so your feet to the ground. It's not even one story
It's not even one story and you fall to the ground
Like so that's not a far fall if you're really out of shape
Then yeah, it is if you're like a bit of a fatty, you'll, you might twist your ankle.
Nobody dies from eight feet. Okay. Um,
also you're the police in a security, um, position,
you know, I mean, local law enforcement, you're not really diving in front of bullets. But again, it's the president and you just saw some with a rifle.
Like, do you maybe drop to the ground,
pull your gun out and just try to shoot through the building and the roof?
I mean, isn't it isn't it just one of those like it's not like a house.
It's just like the corrugated iron type building, right?
I don't think you're gonna get anything through that,
especially, I think they use 45s.
I think they're hollow points, I'm not exactly sure.
All right, all right, all right.
So hypothetically, it's you.
You were just hanging off the roof, Pete.
You see a shooter with a rifle that you know it's not Secret Service. You
know this guy is probably going to shoot the president. And you also know you can't shoot
through the building because you have hollow point 45s. But don't you think it would get
some attention? It would do something better than allowing him to get eight fucking shots off yeah you could make and make a noise you could I think that
shooting in the shooting up shooting yeah best thing yeah yeah and then and
then just hit the deck cuz you know hellfire is coming for you just shoot in
the air then lay down put your hands up. Yeah. Yeah throw the gun on the ground and you know
You are a cop so that unlikely to just rush in and shoot you
But I mean, I don't know dude. Listen, it's easy to say right?
It's like the kind of thing when you hear like all the people on the on the plane of 9-eleven like I would have rushed
Them I would have tackled them, like, maybe, maybe not.
I mean, you don't know.
You don't know what you would do.
But I feel like, I feel like there was some, some real fuck ups here.
I feel like why the local police were like guarding some buildings and Secret Service
guarding the others. I don't know about you, Pete, but I had this idea in my mind,
naively that these organizations, like the secret service were really fucking
good at this stuff, like so much so you couldn't even get close to assassinating
a president. And now it turns out turns out yeah you could just be pretty
clumsy and have a ladder from Home Depot and there's a good chance you can shoot at a politician.
Obviously a failure on their part and we I want to see how it washes out but I think
people are going to lose their jobs I think we're going to see a reorganization of that
department and this is probably never
going to happen again.
You hope not. You hope not. Well, look, let's finish on this. Glad he's okay, because that
would have sucked and it would have just been a shitty way to like, I don't think anyone
would have felt good about this election if it had gone that way. It would have been a dark, dark time in US history
if we were just here right now going, oh, the guy that was going to win just got shot in the head.
What do we even believe now? I think it would be ugly. So I'm glad he's okay. We've got the RNC
the RNC, you know, this week, Trump's going to be announced Thursday. Just came out with his VP.
What's his name?
JD Vance.
JD Vance.
Yeah.
And, um, yeah, it's going to be interesting to see what happens.
And also, you know, how do you think that this stacks stuff up now?
I mean, after the debate, it was a big boost for Trump.
What do you think this is gonna do for him?
Do you think that it's just gonna,
is this a massive push?
I mean, there's some iconic pictures.
Elon came out in support for him.
Some other rich people did. I mean Elon just
promised like 45 million for a super pact. I mean that's an immense amount of money, dude
Inmanable amounts amount of money
Yeah, and they also said that's one of the reasons why Biden is still in is because all that money
He raised or they raised only goes to him the next person has to go
Raise it again. Yeah, so he was that's probably was a money thing is why that he was still on the ticket. Oh, yeah
Yep, it's so fucked
Well, good luck try and win
buddy, but I think I think the I think the
Painting, you know,
the paint is on the wall, bro.
It's like we-
The writing is on the wall.
Yeah, we already know.
All right, well, thanks for listening everybody.
And you know, this is, like I said,
it was a sad one, but it was one that needed to be done.
And let us know, you know, send us an email,
the email's in the bio. Let us know what you think. Like us an email, emails in the bio.
Let us know what you think.
Like, where's your head out with this?
If you got some good conspiracy theories, throw them our way.
Like, just let us know what your feelings are right now.
Maybe you're a Biden guy, now you're a Trump guy.
Maybe you were a Trump guy, but now you're a super Trump guy.
Like, let us know what your feelings are towards all these things and otherwise take it easy and we'll talk to you next week thanks
Pete thank you all thank you Adam
