And what I'm referring to is Steve Bannon, full-time insurrectionist, full-time podcaster,
who's now reporting to prison in Danbury, Connecticut because the Supreme Court has
decided that everything he has said about being a political prisoner and being the result of an
illegitimate Jan 6 committee and its subpoena powers is all wrong. That's the little dirty little secret that the Jan 6 insurrectionist and
people like Steve Bannon won't admit, won't acknowledge and lie about it to the cult
followers of Donald Trump, that they are political prisoners, that the Jan 6 committee was
illegitimate. Nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, the United States Supreme Court had an opportunity to step in and reverse the decision
of, and it was a 3-0 decision, of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals in which they found supporting the underlying decision by Judge Nichols that there was no proper defense put on by Steve Bannon
in refusing to comply with the two subpoenas of Congress, particularly the Jan 6 committee for documents and for testimony.
All he had to do is give the documents and give the testimony and we would not even be talking about Steve Bannon
probably at all, let alone about him trying to martyr himself on the way into Danbury prison and the federal prison
system. But because he refused, because he wanted to be in this position two years later, to tell
his followers and those of Donald Trump that he's a political prisoner, right? That he's being
crucified by the Biden administration and all of those religious overtones that
go along with that.
That's why we're here.
That's why I got to talk about it on a hot take.
This was all calculated.
This was all planned.
Just like Navarro kicking and screaming and serving four months in a Miami federal prison
who was visited by one Donald Trump, Steve Bannon too. And as soon as,
and if, Donald Trump somehow found himself restored to the White House, he's going to pardon Bannon
for a second time. As I've said before, if you like administrations that are filled with felons
and people who have lost their bar license and who have been indicted for major crimes,
you're gonna love the Trump administration.
Part two.
Steve Bannon continues,
even as he's being dragged to prison,
continues to call himself a political prisoner
and undermine, try to undermine and attack
the legitimacy of the Jan 6 Committee.
I wanna talk about those two things next, but let's listen to a clip from Bannon. I'm a political prisoner. I feel great
about it. It's got whatever. I served my nation on that destroyer in my 20s and back at the Pentagon.
I'm serving my country right now as a political prisoner in Danbury starting on Monday. It will
not change this show. It will not change our impact.
It won't change me.
It will not suppress my voice.
My voice will not be suppressed when I'm there.
I'm a political prisoner of Nancy Pelosi and Merrick Garland.
And if it took me going to prison to finally get the House to start to move,
to start to delegitimize the illegitimate J6 committee,
then hey, guess what?
My going to prison is worth it.
And no regrets about not cooperating with the subpoena
from the January 6th?
No regrets.
First of all, I took the big technical cases,
taking your lawyer's advice.
I took my lawyer's advice as everybody else in the country,
if they had a high powered lawyer, would do.
So first off, technically it was advice of counsel.
But also in addition, the
illegitimacy of how it was structured and this concept of executive privilege, how it
has to be worked out. Even though I'm in prison, I'm still going to go forward. We file en
banque to the entire circuit on July 15th with an amicus brief from the Speaker of the
House and the House of Representatives. I'll have an amicus brief. And then depending on
what happens there, we're
going to go, we're going to go to the Supreme Court.
Yeah, I have one.
So no regrets.
No regrets.
No regrets.
All right.
That was him appearing on ABC news with, with, uh, with John Carl and two
things I want to unpack there.
One, this talking point, this palm card, this press release by everyone in the MAGA ecosystem
of calling themselves political prisoners.
Donald Trump calls himself a political prisoner on social media and at rallies and in debates.
Just because you committed a crime and you're being prosecuted by the other party's Department
of Justice because you got caught in the crime and the evidence supports prosecuted by the other party's Department of Justice because you got caught in
the crime and the evidence supports the crime and the grand jury indicted you and the petit jury
convicted you doesn't mean you're a political prisoner. A political prisoner for those that
know about this around the world is when you through a show trial or no trial and no habeas corpus and no due process,
you are retained in a prison, okay?
And you never see the light of day
because of your political views,
you've been jailed indefinitely by your opponent,
usually a dictator.
That is not what happened here. That is an abuse and a misuse and a
conflation of the term political prisoner. Once again, just because you committed crimes
and you committed those crimes during the administration of Donald Trump, but that you were investigated, indicted, convicted, and sentenced under the next administration
doesn't mean you're a political prisoner.
You don't get a free pass because the administration turned a page.
It's not like there's some doctrine that says, well, but if you committed all those crimes
and we have a change in the presidency and he's of a different party,
of course you can't be prosecuted, convicted, jailed,
or sentenced because that would make you
a political prisoner.
No.
So that's the political prisoner bullshit.
And you hear this in the ecosystem
because they all, it's an echo chamber,
they all do it and they all say it.
And it's all coordinated through the Trump campaign
and Donald Trump himself.
Today's the week we're gonna call ourselves political prisoners over, I know even the dog is upset about it. And it's all coordinated through the Trump campaign and Donald Trump himself. Today's the week we're going to call ourselves political prisoners over,
I know even the dog is upset about it. That's one. Two, the legitimacy of the Jan 6 committee
has also been attacked because that's the next page in the playlist, the next page in the playbook
by MAGA, which is including led by Donald Trump, let's attack the legitimacy of the Jan 6 Committee and undermine yet another pillar of our democracy.
The Jan 6 Committee and its subpoena power
has been upheld time and time again
by dozens of courts, federal courts starting in California,
ending the District of Columbia and everything in between.
Every federal judge that has had to deal with the issue of whether the Jan 6 committee is
legitimate and or has sufficient subpoena power to do what it did has answered in the affirmative.
They do. They've been validated time and time again, starting with Judge Carter in the Central
District of California in the John Eastman matter and ending with Judge Barrell Howell and others,
including Judge Chutkin in the DC election interference case
in the District of Columbia.

Plus the Supreme Court, by ultimately the DC Court of Appeals first in ruling against
Bannon's appeal, validated the legitimacy of the Jan 6 committee, as did the United
States Supreme Court just last week in denying Steve Bannon a stay of his sentence pending
any appeal that they're not even interested in.
Steve Bannon couldn't even get four votes of the nine
of the United States Supreme Court to take up his cause,
let alone five to reverse his conviction.
And we know that by the vote count.
You're doing badly in MAGA world
if you can't get the six MAGA justices,
you can't get four out of those six votes or five out
of those six votes. He got it most three, maybe two, maybe just Alito and Thomas. That's all that
was interested in denying his stay. That in itself validates the legitimacy of the Jan 6 committee.
Now MAGA in Congress who have so much time on their hands because they're
a do-nothing Congress that has done nothing for the American people and are busy just going after
Hunter Biden and revenge porn and showing his junk and going after Secretary Mayorkas about
the border and trying to impeach everybody and calling it the Biden crime family in order to
project about the Trump crime family. They decided to try to pass a resolution a couple weeks ago to
declare almost three years later the Jan 6 committee illegitimate. Why? Because it didn't
have enough Republicans on it, because the Republicans refused to participate on it,
because McCarthy wanted to put Jim Jordan and others
on there and representative Perry
and also make it a Trojan horse
to send in Republicans who just wanted
to disrupt the committee's work.
Nancy Pelosi appointed two Republicans,
the two that wanted to serve, that were states people.
One lost a job and the other one didn't run. Kinsinger and Liz Cheney,
who was the vice chair, by the way, of the committee. That's a bipartisan Jan 6 committee
we could all get behind, like the Watergate committee that prosecuted the last kleptocracy
that was in office in the Nixon administration. So the Supreme Court
validated it because if it didn't validate the legitimacy of the, if more than, if five or more
Supreme Court justices felt the Jan 6 committee was illegitimate, then its subpoena power would
be legitimate and then Steve Bannon wouldn't have been convicted. But they rejected that argument again,
put a pin in it. The Jan 6 committee was legitimate. Its subpoena power properly exercised.
And the attempts by Nit Maga now to say that it was illegitimate and all the subpoenas should be
vacated or withdrawn after these people have been sentenced is just ridiculous. It's just
political theater. It has nothing to do with the law or the intersection of law and politics that we like to cover here.
I want to continue to cover Steve Bannon because he can't be let off the hook for what he did.
He not only used his bully pulpit of his podcast to reinforce the legitimacy of an illegitimate, now criminal presidential candidate and try to
have that criminal former president clinging to power. But he even went to the Willard Hotel,
which by the way I've been to for breakfast, great breakfast. But he went to the Willard Hotel and
they took a command center with Michael, with Mike Flynn, listen to this group of this band, this
rogues gallery, Giuliani, Mike Flynn, and Steve Bannon and others are all in this room as a nerve
center, as the war room to try to cling to power. That's why they use vocabulary like this, the war room. Donald Trump calls the Jan six insurrectionist warriors.
Right, right, it's a war against democracy.
That's who it's against, right?
They're not political prisoners.
As I've said in a prior hot take,
all of the Jan six insurrectionists leading
who were led by this dog whistle siren blast
by Donald Trump to come to Washington on Jan 6, it's
going to be wild.
They thought that they were going to be given a free pass, a key to the city, immunity from
prosecution because Donald Trump was going to be put back in office by their acts.
That's why they recorded everything.
That's why they wore GoPros.
That's why they put everything and uploaded it to social media in real time, which has also been known as the evidence
against them in the prosecution. They should have just written at the bottom
as a trial lawyer. I'll tell you, I would have appreciated if they saved the
prosecutors a little bit of time and just listed exhibit A, B, C, D, exhibit 1, 2, 3,
the bottom of their evidence that they created.
But why did they create it?
Think about the psychosis here, the psychology here.
It's because they thought that their guy
was gonna get back into office
and he was gonna give them a pardon.
Why?
How do we know that that was gonna happen?
Because Donald Trump said it out loud
and it continues to say it out loud.
So even though there's a little bit of bad and fatigue,
I think it's an important as an exemplar,
as a model for what a proper prosecution and sentencing
and our appellate system will provide.
And now, because he's screwed around so long,
it has now found out that he's gonna be in prison
during the election and during
the heart of the campaign because he's just went in in July and he's not coming out till
December Steve Bannon.
Now he'll find a way to do his podcast.
I'm sure he'll record something, give it to his lawyer.
The lawyer will give it to his producer and we'll hear weekly from Steve Bannon. That's also part of the goal here,
the self-manufactured astroturf crucifixion
that he wants to talk about.
So when he comes out, he's got his bona fides,
he went twice, I mean, this guy, if Trump gets back in,
Steve Bannon's gonna be like secretary of state.
I mean, in that world, he's got two purple hearts
and a congressional medal of honor.
He's committed crimes for Donald Trump and himself
a number of times and has gotten pardoned
or commuted sentences and went to prison once
basically for Donald Trump.
In organized crime, that is a bona fide. You come out, I saw the Sopranos,
you came out of prison after one year, two year, five years, 10 years of not ratting out your,
the capo regime, ratting out your godfather, your head. You get benefited. You get a pension
for life. You get your family taken care of.
You get your old job back to earn.
That's what's going to happen here.
Sometimes people, when I was back, the best way to put this is that both the godfather
and sopranos give you everything you need to know in business, in life, and now in politics.
