This is Michael Popak, Legal AF. The golf courses Donald Trump owns and makes a lot of money from
selling booze and selling liquor are going dry because the New Jersey attorney general has decided
not to renew Donald Trump's licenses to sell alcohol anywhere at any of his golf courses in
New Jersey. That means none at Bedminster, where he lives a lot of the year and none at a facility in Colts Neck, New Jersey.
Now it is a decision not to renew the licenses and that despite Donald Trump trying to hide
the ball and have Eric Trump be the licensee for the license, but that doesn't work because
the attorney general realized that the actual owner behind the scenes where all of the profits and
all the benefits of the liquor license goes is the Donald Trump revocable trust. So it's Donald
Trump, doesn't matter whose name is on the license, it's the licensee, if Donald Trump was going to
benefit and since the beneficiary of the liquor licenses and the ownership of it is now going to a convicted felon,
the attorney general is not going to renew that license. They made that decision through
their division of alcohol beverage control, the ABC in New Jersey, which sits under the
attorney general's office. New Jersey law is quite clear, as in most states, anyone convicted of a
crime involving moral turpitude is not allowed
to possess a liquor license and fraud, which is at the heart of the New York 34 count felony
conviction by the jury is a crime of moral turpitude. Now, they'll be able to serve the
Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck and Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, again,
one of the many homes
of Donald Trump. They'll be able to serve alcohol under a temporary permit until the time when Judge
Mershon and or the appellate court makes its final rulings on the convictions. Donald Trump is trying
to argue that the Supreme Court decision about what a president at the time can do and get
away with, with immunity, somehow impacts his Stormy Daniels hush money cover-up conspiracy with
David Pecker and Michael Cohen that was executed and implemented before he even became president.
Sure, there were some invoices from Michael Cohen, some cover-up invoices to cover
up the scheme that were after Donald Trump was elected. In short, Donald Trump whipped out his
private checkbook and scheduled some meetings through his private scheduler in the White House,
but that doesn't mean they were official conduct. Even the outer boundaries, extremes of official
conduct of a president under Article Two of the Constitution.
Covering up and paying off your lawyer
to pay off your person you had sex with
to hide it from the American people and your wife
is not a presidential power.
And so I don't think it's gonna ultimately, in any way,
even the Supreme Court, six to three mega right wing
majority is gonna find for Donald Trump about the cover-up and
that immunity means his convictions have to be overturned. But the alcohol beverage commission
in New Jersey is not going to renew the licenses, not going to allow anyone affiliated with Donald
Trump or Donald Trump to benefit from the licenses. Sure, they can temporarily serve alcohol until they can have a final hearing and that final hearing is now going to be postponed until after the sentencing and appeal related to the issues.
Now, I've already reported, I think I said Eric earlier, the hot take, it's really Don Jr. whose
name is on the liquor licenses. However, because Trump himself benefits from the profits and revenue from the licenses,
and Trump is the sole beneficiary
of his own revocable trust,
then therefore that is the reason,
because Trump is a convicted felon
of moral turpitude crimes, losing his liquor licenses.
There's a third, there's a lot of golf courses
around America.
Each state's gonna have to decide for themselves
based on their statutes and their criminal law
and their alcohol beverage control law
about whether a conviction means you can't,
you lose a license.
It generally does.
Generally, if you hold a license in gaming or for alcohol
or any of these other sort of vice type licenses,
then you're going to lose it if you commit a crime,
especially one of fraud.
Let's take a quick break to talk about our next sponsor,
Zbiotics.
If you're like me, you've probably skipped a workout
because of drinks the night before.
Look, it happens.
But if you're committed to your healthy routine,
you need ZbiBiotics.
Z-Biotics pre-alcohol probiotic
is the world's first genetically engineered probiotic.
It was invented by PhD scientists
to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
Here's how it works.
When you drink, alcohol gets converted
into a toxic byproduct in the gut. It's this byproduct,
not dehydration. That's to blame for your rough next day. Z-Biotics produces an enzyme to break
this byproduct down. It's designed to work like your liver, but in your gut where you need it most.
Just remember to drink Z-Biotics before drinking alcohol. Drink responsibly and get a good night's sleep
to feel your best tomorrow.
The night my wife and I were married in Miami,
I knew I'd have at least a few drinks
to celebrate the special occasion.
I think that started at 9.30 in the morning.
Luckily, I knew I had Z-Biotics.
As instructed, I drank a bottle of Z-Biotics
before any alcohol.
I was shocked at how good I felt the next day
and so was my wife.

What we're gonna do is we're gonna wait to see
the final review by the alcohol beverage committee.
They began the review about evaluating Trump's
criminal history and whether he was of reputable character and had the ability to operate a
business in a reputable manner. See, that's one of the problems with Donald Trump that he doesn't
seem to latch onto is that he's now in certain regulated industries. He was when he was in gaming,
he is when he sells alcohol, and he's also in a regulated industry,
the Securities Exchange Commission regulates everything related to truth social, his failing
stock that he's been duping investors that support him for a long, long time to try to get billions
of dollars into his pocket. But when you're in these kind of regulated industries, you're at the
will of the governing body, the're at the will of the governing
body, the boards, the commissions, the councils about your behavior.
You can't just appeal to public opinion and ask for a flash poll.
You have to make sure you comply with the variations and the regulations and the law.
And so that's why certain people don't get into gaming.
They don't get into liquor licenses and bars and taverns, and people don't get into gaming. They don't get into liquor licenses and
bars and taverns and they don't get into selling stock on the stock exchange because they're not
reputable. And that is what these policing agencies try to make sure that they're not
infiltrated by organized crime or people that are criminals. Makes sense. These are licenses,
these are privileges, these are not rights.
You don't have a right to a liquor license.
You don't have a right to operate a gaming facility
or casino.
You don't have the right to sell securities.
All of that is a privilege that comes with it,
tremendous amount of regulation and background checks
and licensing and credentialing that goes along with it.
And Donald Trump is not gonna,
he's never gonna be able to own a casino again
based on his convictions, his indictments,
his fraud, immunity or not.
There's no self-respecting gaming regulator
that's gonna give Donald Trump a gaming license.
And now you start seeing the crack, right?
Crack in the facade with New Jersey stepping forward first
with its attorney general effectively agreeing
not to renew Donald Trump's liquor licenses.
And I can tell you that it is a huge percentage
besides membership fees that golf courses generate
and need in order to operate comes from sale of booze forever, private events, weddings, the 19th
hole when golfers come off on tournaments, they even have, you
know, people running around on golf carts selling booze on the
golf course during the during events and during just regular,
you know, people golfing in their regular foursome. And so when
you're in those kind of industries and you lose, in this case, it could be if I had a guess,
it's a pretty good guess. I would say 30 to 40% of the gross revenue of these golf courses is
coming from something that relates to food and beverage and the beverage being alcohol.
And so he'll get to sell it for now, but it also impairs his ability to sell those golf courses
because you need to sell them with a liquor license intact. Otherwise, the new buyer has
to go to the state and try to get an advisory opinion about whether they're going to get a
liquor license to operate it. It diminishes, it's a diminution of the value of the asset in addition, because it doesn't have
that liquor license, which has a lot of tremendous value and assets. So we're gonna continue to
follow all of the liquor license issues of Donald Trump that now all stem from him being a convicted
felon. The result in New York is gonna be pretty straightforward.
I don't believe based on my understanding of the law,
that Judge Mishawn is going to vacate
the 34 felony counts conviction of the jury.
He's not gonna, and even applying Trump versus US,
the immunity decision from July 1,
he's not gonna pick off the counts
or the overt acts that are listed.
He's gonna find them all to be outside the outer boundaries
of official conduct, not core presidential conduct.
That 90% or more of the indictment
was about pre-presidential candidate Trump behavior
and conduct.
And that even the few things that happened
in the White House that the jury got ahold of that may have been official conduct in some way, it would be harmless error
and he'll find that the jury was not influenced by that in rendering their decision.
And I think the appellate court, the appellate division first department in New York and Manhattan
and then the court of appeals, the highest level court in New York will agree with him.
And then yeah, sure, he may go off to the Supreme Court. In the meantime,
he'll have a temporary license to sell booze until this whole issue kind of winds its way through
2025 and then returns. And if he loses that liquor license permanently, he'll have to sell
clubs. I really believe he'll have to sell the clubs. He's not going to make enough money.
You don't make enough money selling golf balls, t-shirts, golfing equipment, golf lessons, foursums, dry lunch, and membership fees
to run a golf course. You just don't. It's just this huge expanse of land. It's millions of dollars
to keep those environmentally insensitive dollars being spent to keep those golf courses up and
running. And so he needs every
dollar. And if he's going to lose a giant spigot that gives him alcohol dollars, that's like 90%
profit, he's going to have to sell those clubs. So we'll continue to watch how attorney generals
around the country try to regulate and control and punish Donald Trump now that he's a convicted
felon right here on the Midas Touch Network and on Legal AF. Join me on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Eastern time where I co-anchor
