I'm going to show you how to make a video. I'm going to show you how to make a video. I'm going to show you how to make a video. I'm going to show you how to make a video where we share a bonus story with you to help you get through the week. This time around we have a story from a listener named Ghost Horse. At the time of this story I was about 20 years old.
Starting point is 00:00:55 For reference I'm short and female presenting. At the time I worked at a big well-known retail store as a merchandising associate. The store was short-staffed, so while it wasn't part of my duties, I was the fitting room attendant on this particular day. There was a desk in front of the fitting rooms that housed a phone and a hanger bin, as well as a few other odds and ends one might need to put clothes away. While attending to the fitting rooms, I stood behind the desk to greet customers going in and coming out, but occasionally I would leave the desk to go put things away. Things were slow that day, so I was away from the desk for quite a while putting clothes
Starting point is 00:01:38 away and straightening up the clothing areas. I was walking from the shoe section to the men's section when I saw a customer walking toward me. He looked like anybody else from the area, he was wearing baggy jeans, a tight tank top, and a flat brim snap back hat. I greeted him and asked him if he needed help. He stopped walking and looked me over. At first, he said no. Then he took a step forward, one hand tightly clasped over the other as he addressed me again. I want to show you something. He told me, keeping his voice low. I shook my head, uninterested in whatever it was that he felt he needed to show me. I asked
Starting point is 00:02:24 him once more if he needed any help with finding anything in the store, trying to be a little more direct. Without answering my question, he repeated himself. I want to show you something." He took a few more steps forward, and I moved away to the side. There was no way I was going to look at whatever was clasped between his hands, and I definitely wasn't going to step any closer to him. After all, the city where I lived and worked wasn't the safest, and like many other places, drugs were a large issue in the community. He continued to walk toward me, so I maneuvered around a pole that we were standing close to. He then separated his hands,
Starting point is 00:03:06 revealing that there was nothing clasped between them. He lunged forward, trying to grab me. Luckily, I was able to step backwards, and I ran towards where the employee breakroom and bathrooms were. He followed, repeating that line, I want to show you something, I want to show you something, as he continued to try and grab me. I rushed through the you something. I want to show you something as he continued to try and grab me. I rushed through the electronics section and into the break room, locking the door behind me. I was terrified and shaking. I was in tears at that point. A few minutes passed and I heard knocks at the door. It turned out to be my manager, so I unlocked the door and he sat down to talk to me about
Starting point is 00:03:44 what happened. Apparently an associate in electronics had scared the man off after seeing that I was being chased. At the time, I hadn't thought about having my manager call the police. I was just glad that it was over. After our talk, my manager switched me to backroom work and said that the customer was banned from the store, so I felt a bit better. To the guy who really wanted to show me something, and then chased me through a store, let's not meet. Thank you ghost hores for sharing your story.
