Welcome to Wednesday One Chots where we share a short bonus story with you to help you get through
the week. This time we have a story bonus story with you to help you get through the week.
This time, we have a story by a listener that asked to remain anonymous.
In 2016, my family and I took a camping trip out by a lake.
My sister and I were 11 at the time, so our entertainment was building a fort out of
sticks not far from the family camper or the lake. Upon entering
the fort my mom said that we could sleep in the fort rather than in our camper if we
wanted to. Well, this turned into my sister, placing a $20 bet to see if we could spend
the entire night sleeping outside in said fort. I thought, why not? It was only for a night, and what kid doesn't want some extra money.
I got my camera, some food, and some blankets, then headed out to the fort.
I had to walk through some woods to get to the fort, and I couldn't see the lights
from the camper once I was out there, so I was terrified. I called my friend to help call my nerves
while blogging my experience on my GoPro.
Everything was fine, and then my phone died.
I didn't think much of it,
being that it was close to midnight,
but I was in the middle of making a blog
when I heard cats screaming nearby.
It almost sounded like they were being intentionally
hurt. This is where things took a strange turn. Not long after filming a video of what I was hearing
from the cats, my camera died as well. I couldn't sleep so I just lied down in the glow of the small lights that hung inside the fort.
Around one in the morning I heard leaves rustling outside. The rustling was getting louder
and moving towards the fort. I was still lying down with my feet pointed at the entrance
and my head on the opposite side. I was able to see the entrance of the fort, lying this way.
I heard shuffling coming from around the right side of the fort close to my head.
I was frozen having no idea what to do. Then the shoveling moved towards the entrance of the fort
and I couldn't breathe. When the rustling stopped, the blanket covering the entrance dropped and so did my heart.
The shuffling moved closer to my head. My heart was beating faster and faster. I still
didn't know what to do. I really thought that this was where I was going to die, and
right then I looked up, and I saw an eye staring down at me through the cracks above.
I attempted to scream, but I was stunned.
I couldn't even find my voice.
Accepting my fate, I covered my face with my blanket, and I knew that this was it.
I tried letting out a cry for help again.
But what felt like an eternity later, a friend
who was also camping out there, came out to check on me.
I then heard footsteps of whoever was outside of my fort, leaving.
To this day, I still get chills telling this story.
So to the creepy person, eyeing me in my fort by the lake, let's not meet.
