Starting point is 00:00:46 Woo! Spit! Hey, you did it. Woo! Yeah! Woo! Weehee! We wanted to do something a little different.
Starting point is 00:00:58 And that was it. The woo-hoo-weehee. No, no, no. It was much, much more than that, thank gosh. But it's the 100th episode, and we have a very special guest. This was based on, well, we got the idea Lifeline from Loveline. We had the idea for the show, and they were like, you know what that's like, the show we love so much.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Yeah. Loveline, let's call it Lifeline. And so for episode 100. We got Dr. Drew Pinsky. Dr. Drew Pinsky. We had a great conversation with him, and it's really fun. And so we hope you enjoy it. And we hope he enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:01:30 We think he enjoyed it. But we'll let you do the math on that one. Let me just say one thing about Dr. Drew. You'll see how much we like him, how well we get along, how good he vibes with us. He's so crazy handsome, it's crazy. Okay? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:43 And I can't believe how long he's been around and how much he looks exactly the same as he did when he first started doing it. It's pretty wild, yeah. Some guys just age nice. He ages real nice. Real, real nice. You know who, what?
Starting point is 00:01:55 I thought I was going to age really nice. And I think... God had other plans, huh? I think I'm not. No, you're doing good. I think I'm doing okay. Well, when you think of a 43-year-old, when you think of a 43-year-old, when you think of a 43-year-old,
Starting point is 00:02:08 you think of a fat guy. I do. Do you? I don't think of a fat guy when I think of a 43-year-old. I do. I think of you. No, I don't think about 43-year-olds.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Let me think. What do you think of? You think of a fat pudgy guy? I do. No, I think of like a rugged sort of really eyes sunk in a little bit but he's still there he's still got vitality he's like he's not overweight but he's like filled out yeah it's a pudge no no pudge all right i said no so stop trying to think about a 50 55 year old what do you think of a fat guy no i don't think fat I don't think anybody ever gets. Really?
Starting point is 00:02:45 In my mind, nobody ever gets fat. In real life, everyone's fat. Yeah, that is true. Everyone is fat. You know who doesn't get fat? Dr. Drew. Neither do we, actually. Dude, Dr. Drew is so not fat.
Starting point is 00:02:55 We don't get fat. It's crazy. We all three of us don't get fat. But yeah, so that's cool. Yes, so I've got dates also coming up. Corpus Christi, Houston, Shreveport, Durham, North Carolina, Norfolk, Virginia, Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids. Wow.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Nanaimo, BC, Saginaw, Victoria, BC, and Augusta, Georgia, North Charleston, South Carolina, St. Petersburg. Got so many. Chattanooga, Charleston, West Virginia. That's sick, dude. Look at all these good dates. What's that one say? Des Moines.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Des Moines and green bay and then more to come too we're doing more do you ever say this green bay i don't do that i've never done that i might do it but i don't i don't think that's in my near future uh anyway so we hope you enjoyed the 100th episode we really enjoyed it actually we really enjoyed it we maybe we'll get some guests on now we who knows yeah who knows this the future is wide open we're gonna do this forever we're gonna do this till we drop it's sick and it's still sick and it i'm gonna eat this entire cake no between the moment we go away and you see dr drew the cake will be inside my belly oh okay yep thanks guys well edit that thanks guys part out right because it's not thanks guys well no
Starting point is 00:04:03 thanks thanks for watching 100 episodes yeah thanks for watching all 99 the end of an episode thanks for watching all 99 so far enjoy the 100th episode yeah love you all okay guys we did it we're here i thought we were going to do maybe six episodes of this thing but we ended up doing a hundred and so we're here uh on episode 100 and we thought we'd do something special uh and you know this podcast actually let me just introduce the guest dr drew pinsky right here so introduction number 100 i'm so privileged to be a part of that who knew the digital i think how wild it is you can sit here in some space and transmit to the world with your brother and me and just it's it's nuts it's particularly nuts for me i'm sure you are sick of hearing this but loveline for me is such a touchstone thing
Starting point is 00:04:52 my memory it's like so many things you said on that show are just etched into my mind so looking at you here in front of me on our show weird right is totally weird that's 100 yeah but that's why we call it lifeline because we were like, we loved Love Love. That's where the name came to us. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I told this to Adam. When I did Carolla, I told Adam and now I'm telling you. But so it's our honor to have you on this.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Yes. Pleasure. So you can check all of Dr. Drew's stuff out at Ask Dr. Drew. It's Ask Dr. Drew. So I'm going to do it for you guys. Do it. My wife's over here breathing down my neck. She produces and creates everything I do online right now,
Starting point is 00:05:28 which is my whole life these days. You can get everything at DrDrew.tv. It's all, of course, at DrDrew.com as well, but it's called Ask Dr. Drew. It's a streaming show Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 3 o'clock Pacific. It goes everywhere. Please subscribe at Rumble if you can. Then My New Life Post-COVID
Starting point is 00:05:44 is the chief patient officer for the wellness company. There you go. Which is really fun. Which is cool. Really interesting. Which is cool. What does that entail? It's really, I have, we've not spoken in a few years.
Starting point is 00:05:56 No, a long time. Yeah. And I'm going to tell a quick story first. Yeah. So I drove over here in a car that you are responsible for. What? I don't know if you know this. This is hilarious.
Starting point is 00:06:06 I don't know. Oh, you do know this. See, I tell stories all the time. I can't remember anymore. And last time Chris was on Loveline, he got in his car and turned on the engine. I was like, what is that? What is this thing? You're driving an RS7.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Yes, yes, yes. We were driving an old, I got a useds7 a couple years ago it's it's the to me it's the best car in the road i love that it's um you just turned it on i went what is it it sounds nice and it feels nice and it's luxury and sporty but whatever that's hilarious that's awesome isn't that funny yeah and really i it wasn't it wasn't like i ran out and bought a car but it was easy that's what i do honestly that's what I do. Honestly, that's what I do to people. But so anyway, the wellness company is what I do is I am. I COVID changed everything.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Yeah. Yeah. And it's changed my feelings about trying to protect the physician patient relationship, which I've my whole career doing. And I've decided it's a useless endeavor. So now I'm trying to empower patients. And we're creating products that patients should have access to easily, cheaply.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Like, for instance, we just developed a travel kit that has all the things in it that I make my patients take with them when they go traveling. Right, right, right. And why shouldn't you have that little telehealth consult if you want? You shouldn't have to be waiting for a doctor's visit. You don't have to go to an urgent care center. These things should be, people know how to use these things.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Dude. What? Did you talk to my mom? Yeah, I was going to say. Because this is 100%. Yeah. Now the most annoying thing is she's going to be like, you got to do what Dr. Drew said.
Starting point is 00:07:38 She's going to tell me, you got to do what Dr. Drew said. Our mom watches every episode. When she heard you say that, she went like this. Yeah, mom. We are on the same page. You are. I. When she heard you say that, she went like this. Yeah, mom, we are on the same page. I don't know if you want that.
Starting point is 00:07:48 If you start asking me to move furniture, I'm going to be pissed off. So yeah. You know what's funny is because I think the last time I saw you was back when people didn't even know. Now everybody knows what a podcast is. Yes. I didn't know. Well, but what a podcast is yes but like i didn't know
Starting point is 00:08:05 i but well but basically you were doing it anyway i mean you were before anybody knew the 90s but it wasn't on this on the internet obviously but like it's a little different we were doing the i mean these were all form thrusts of something else right yeah like in a weird way we were doing the first reality show right because we were sort of talking to people in real time about real issues, but it was a little bit of hanging out, which radio is not. Radio is usually timing, blah, blah, blah. And podcasting is hanging out.
Starting point is 00:08:36 And so it was all the primordium of all these things. I love in podcasts, people say like, people often will be like, hey, your standup doesn't make me laugh but your podcast makes me laugh what what's the deal with that and i'm just like you just are in this culture now that people just like listen to podcasts all the time yeah and they just want you to be completely real and honest that's which is like what it was back then uh when when you started love line that's correct i remember early days with adam him just going which it's got to be
Starting point is 00:09:02 real it's got to be good you know, and we just focused on making a difference. And the same thing that people just want connection with the openness. It's so much bullshit. They want to connect. They want to connect. They don't. Yeah, it's so true. One of the I always say you're one of the nicest.
Starting point is 00:09:20 OK, so I was I don't I think it was. Was it I've maybe been to five of these types of things in my life but like it was a party at the what's the one on launch no not mondrian it was like a gq party or something okay like i walked my whoever was like my manager or whatever like do you want somebody to go i'm like like, no, I don't want this. I'll just go. Yeah. They're like, okay, well, if you show up and dispersal will be there.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Whenever I had gone to things like that before, I glom onto people I like and know. So if I came up to you, it's because I'm like, I need a friend. But also you were like, you were like, uh, hey, it was almost like you identified me as like this, like doing that. that like what do i do and you're like hey i don't know if you hear that but you can hang out with me and my wife and it was like so cool and i was like man i think we had chateau marmont and we sat down because it was that whatever that was what was it remember that you were there was it it wasn't because i've only been like felt overwhelming to me is what it felt at the time.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I don't know why we were there. And you came right up to me and I was like, oh, this is, oh, thank God. This is awesome. I don't have to just sit around my hands in my pockets. I'd forgotten about that. That's true. Yeah. So we hung out at a table and got to.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Yes, yes. You ever gone to that stuff with him? I mean, those things in general, I am just sweating. I like, where's the exit? Remember, we went to the. I am just sweating. Where's the exit? I wanna go. I gotta get out of here. We went to the premiere of The Nun, right?
Starting point is 00:10:51 That show? Oh my God, yes. Which is like the ninth installment of whatever those movies are. Yeah. They're all bad and they keep making them. And we went to the premiere, so they're like, you gotta take pictures and stuff.
Starting point is 00:11:04 And we're there and 10 minutes in the movie, we're like, this is okay, well, we'll just stick it out. And then like 30 minutes and I'm like, this is really bad, huh? And he's like, yeah. And I was like, what do we do? And he's like, let's just leave. It's hard to do that.
Starting point is 00:11:20 It's hard because you know the director's there and shit. And if you're not way in the back. I know. We were in the back. All right. So we have this show, which is actually it's very cool to have you here because I'm now outnumbered. He's smart. You guys are smart. And I am not.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Okay. We'll see about that. Yeah, we will. We'll see about that. But you will definitely see how not I am. I don't know. Some genetic sharing here. There's got to be some good genes in there.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Some shedding. What kind of smart would you say I am? Am I street smart? You know people. People have a different definition of what street smart means. It's what I've learned about people. I don't know about drugs and stuff. But you know what's up with people.
Starting point is 00:12:06 You can read people well. You know what's going on. And you're super quick. Quick, quick, quick. Which is kind of smart. No offense. You don't know like things. Whatever he's going to say next is very funny.
Starting point is 00:12:15 No offense. No offense. You don't know things. You don't know how things work. No. At all. Did you have a difference in your educational history? Because usually that's what that is. I mean, I went to school. He did, yeah. And he did not go history because usually that's what that is i mean
Starting point is 00:12:25 i went to school he did yeah and he did not go right that's usually what that is that is it right that sucks though that sucks that if you can read you can read and watch podcasts now and what you do that's true true yeah that is crazy what about though the other day sometimes when i know something he taught me that there weren't that many people in green bay there's only a hundred thousand people that's the population of green bay yeah and he told me that and then't that many people in Green Bay. There's only 100,000 people. That's the population of Green Bay. And he told me that. And then the next week I saw him, I told him that. And he was like, I told you that.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I was like, oh, fuck. That's all I have. I do that stuff all the time. So don't feel bad. So this is where we're going to have a show where people send in videos and give advice. And we'll give advice to them. And we know that often with your advice, it's real advice. A lot of times our show it's hey how do i like what shoes do i get or some shit okay i mean people need information i know i know i know so try to use you can use your you know your doctorness to
Starting point is 00:13:14 yeah yeah that's the right word doctorness all right so so let's go let's start yeah yeah i love it. Hey, Matt. Hey, Chris. My name is Dana and I am in need of some serious advices. So my husband and I have been living in a loveless, emotionless, intimate, C-less relationship for the past like seven years. So this is an actual question. Yes. Yeah, I see. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, they're asking about it.
Starting point is 00:13:44 So far, good job good job um so i finally asked for a divorce and he said cool that's fine didn't even like try to fight for it but um how soon is too soon to move on after a divorce oh uh especially if you already knew the person so my best friend from when i was 15 he never gave up on us being together one day and he's had girlfriends and, like, serious relationships. And I was married. But we both, like, went through school and got our careers started. And we're both financially stable.
Starting point is 00:14:15 And now that we've reconnected, it's, like, all of the best parts of when we were kids. And then on top of it, all the best parts of having life experience behind us. Him and I both just, like, we're, like, why are we wasting any more time now that we've already done all of the bad things and just want to live good lives so is it too soon for us to like move in together try to have kids and um train wreck you know get married or like do you think this is just a panic response but i really do love him um just wondering because i went to the doctor and they're like hey you're 30 you need to freeze your eggs and i'm like but i'm 30 so i don't know anyways uh love the pod um chris oh my god i'm the one who gets you in the divorce but thank you for meeting us uh this is the last time you'll see us together oh it's all very sad that is sad
Starting point is 00:15:02 i hate when people break she doesn't seem sad about it at all but it is you gotta cover it up you know you gotta cover it up she really doesn't care though she doesn't care she's been out for a while off and she started crying dude i i don't here's the thing man you're gonna lose a friend you're gonna lose your a friend yeah well that is this is a train wreck yeah test it out with other people first oh i see what you're saying yeah yeah you don't break up and then jump right to your best friend that you're the guy that you i didn't think about that yeah you're gonna hate that person then because this is a rebound rebounds are real the thing about it that's stuck in my mind though is that if they've been dead inside with each other for so long the
Starting point is 00:15:40 couple yeah the existing couple that she's getting a divorce from. She asked for a divorce and he said, cool. That is not a thriving. It says to me that they should be separated and should have been separated a while ago. But it also says to me that she has a bad picker and she has trouble with intimacy. Right. Yeah. You don't get over those things with one bad relationship. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Or you gotta work on yourself, huh? Well, that's the thing that- That's the hardest thing. Jumped in my mind, you might wanna give yourself some time to figure out yourself. Which is what Chris is saying too, just don't jump right into things.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's so hard though. I'm so codependent and I'm like so, I'm so, I have intimacy problems. You could count the days that you've been single on both of your hands. No, no, no, no, that's intimacy problems. You could count the days that you've been single on both of your hands. No, no, no, no, that's not true.
Starting point is 00:16:27 I went a year once, a whole year. You did? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know where I was. I went a whole year. I think it, that was a weird year, but. See? But yeah, no, it's, yeah, I've been,
Starting point is 00:16:38 well, now I've been with Krista for seven years, but it's, yeah, I'm too codependent. If she left me, I'd have to find someone immediately but that's a little different though because you would feel so distressed you're good with your marriage and it would feel so painful
Starting point is 00:16:55 I would be a fat guy I'll just be a fat guy fuck it I need immediate satisfaction I'm so fucked I am so fucked I need immediate satisfaction. I'm so fucked. I am so fucked. I've never done drugs. I know you did with the, you know, the life addiction. Yeah, you could.
Starting point is 00:17:09 That's that quality. Yeah. This might be it. And I start, it goes. Make note, if you leave, she's threatening you now. So yeah, yeah, yeah. I get one, I go zero miles per hour or a hundred miles per hour, I've never done drugs.
Starting point is 00:17:21 I would immediately start doing whatever the most hardcore, the new thing is that's not even out yet really that's the guys have it on the street he's never even had a sip of alcohol for real i never had to sip out because you've been afraid you have this thing yeah yeah and i and i do i'm i'm for sure an addict good stay that way be careful what is this beelzebub no there's some new stuff they're mixing in with the fat. Nail. That's makes it go a little longer. Oh my God. But they never like they never it's always evolving.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Yeah, right. Of course. Well, it I mean, the drug addict will always go for a better, longer, cheaper, higher, more intense. They always will do that. Yeah, it's the it's the market makers, the pharmaceutical companies and the drug dealers that try to come up with better and better products. And unfortunately, the pharmaceutical companies have been in the game. You watched that, what is it, on Netflix?
Starting point is 00:18:15 Peter Berg did it? Yeah, I lived through the whole thing. It wasn't just the drug company. It was my profession too. The playbook is the the same which is evangelical physicians get picked up by drug companies to go evangelize they could control the regulators the regulators start putting demands on the physicians to do the things that end up where we know they end up covid was that playbook yeah opiate epidemic was that playbook same playbook every time scary it's
Starting point is 00:18:42 just and the regulator is the one that do the real damage. Because once you've got the Joint Commission and the state medical societies and the professional societies and the insurance companies and the VA all saying you must do this, you're screwed. You're done. Anyway, so back to our friend. Yes. So I would like to know
Starting point is 00:18:59 how long that marriage went for. And I'd like to know how long she'd been out. Because it's relevant. Yeah, it is totally relevant. Now she said she's 30 30 so it can't be too long the issue with the eggs yes unfortunately that's it's a real thing I mean I it by the way if you deal with if you freeze the eggs and women should take control of their reproductive potential because you can do that now it's not that expensive right so she should do that it'll give her more freedom to spend a little time figure out who she is
Starting point is 00:19:26 and dating with other people and sort of try time. You got to you got to do that. You got to find out who you are with other people, and especially if you've had a bad picker. Yeah. She needs to figure out what's wrong with her picker was dad, you know, neglectful, abandoning. So it has to do with the parents oftentimes.
Starting point is 00:19:41 And does she need some therapy? Yes or no? Or can she can she find some good relationships and once she does can she tolerate the intimacy is the other thing that people who form these kinds of relationships when they actually do find somebody they sabotage it yeah they can't quite tolerate it yeah yeah she's got a little work to do it she looks lovely and she looks like she's got it does have her shit together but yeah yeah you might want to look into a little bit just a little bit i i don't want my answer in every call to be, oh, get a therapist. I also tell people, you know, if you have a bad picker, this is something you'll hear me say over and over again, which is.
Starting point is 00:20:15 It means if you keep picking bad people. Correct. If that's your pattern, then it's something in you. It's not everybody else. Yeah, right. And if you can't tolerate intimacy at the same time then we got a real problem here but you know the the kind of person you're going to go for is going to be exactly that same person again because your body is a perfect instrument of attraction you're attracted to certain kind of people right i don't want to believe that that's
Starting point is 00:20:38 one of those things that i want to say you can get over it you can get over it takes so much work though well i don't mean that kind of work even you can we tell people is you can you can get over it. You can get over it. It takes so much work, though, dude. Well, I don't mean that kind of work even. What we tell people is you can go for butterflies rather than lightning bolts. Because those persons that like those, have the broken picket bolt, they go for the lightning bolt. And when I tell them, they go, well, how am I going to be? I won't be attracted. No, no, you can be attracted. You can be light lightning bolts.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Just not that, oh, I got to be with that guy. Because if it's that, then you know it's going to be the same thing all over again. But that's the drug addict. That's basically a code. It's codependent. Same thing. Yeah, codependency. It's all in the same zone.
Starting point is 00:21:10 I'm codependent. I'm fucking codependent. It's in the same zone. My wife and I tried to read a book about codependency, and I wouldn't even do it unless she did. That's the thing. That is funny. Actually, that's like a fucking Woody Allen. That's like a big, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:24 It's a Woody Allen joke. But yeah,. Actually, that's like a fucking Woody Allen. That's like a bit. It is a Woody Allen joke. But yeah, so I just, oh man, I learned something. Because I went to rehab for sex addiction and man, it was, the stuff that you learn, the stuff they tell you. It's intense. All this stuff, it's absolutely intense.
Starting point is 00:21:38 It's the same, very similar stuff as drug addiction. Same kind of process in most situations it's more getting through some of the defenses you know which is the hard painful part yeah and and it's and it is tender territory you've got to walk through it really is and and then and then this is the part that people seem confused about that i am not which is um you you have to make amends and you have to let people rebuild their lives and be okay. It's like that's my whole thing is forgiveness and letting people rebuild their lives.
Starting point is 00:22:13 People in drug addiction, people have done horrible stuff. And if they do such a horrible thing that the law gets involved, it's like, well, okay, that's part of your making amends, which is cleaning up your side of the street and then after that you're welcome to my life you know i'm welcoming all that yeah yeah i mean everybody should do that yeah as long as the recovery is under you know still going yeah i feel like it almost be easier to just like buy a hat and mustache and be like i don't know you. It's not Chris anymore. That's it. Right. That would be easier. I'll tell you one thing. It's not Chris.
Starting point is 00:22:46 I don't know who will believe you. It is easier. It is easier, but it's not real. I know. I know. But then just be nuts. But then one day you'll wake up and you'll think, I really am Chris, though. I'm not this guy.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Yeah. With the mustache. Yeah. And you know. I guess. You wasted a bunch of years. I like different food. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:23:02 I watch different stuff on a telly. You know? Well, yeah. I get it. Yeah. But then you become Russell Brand all of a bunch of years. I like different food. Yeah, exactly. I watch different stuff on a telly. You know? Well, yeah, I get it. Yeah. But then you become Russell Brand all of a sudden. Yeah. Don't forget to be careful. So, all right.
Starting point is 00:23:12 So, all right. So, yeah, I would say. So, well, we gave her good advice. Yeah. I think we sort of, you know, we're worried about her. She needs to be cautious. We worried about her jumping right into this thing. By the way, the jumping into the best friend that you picked up on which is again that thing of fixing
Starting point is 00:23:29 yeah and it's like feels oh this is gonna be good fix it maybe be uncomfortable for a little while that's the thing that's what fucking therapists always say that's the truth it's the worst it's also why when people go to about their therapist they go oh i love her i feel so great when i leave it's like no no good yeah right no good i when people say like don't you just love therapy i'm like what are you talking about in there you're not really doing what are you talking about in there same way yeah you're not doing it you just left and now you're better you're not doing it right you fucking love it so much yeah um i hate sitting in it and then you gotta sit in it but yeah it's anyway yes sir um all right well
Starting point is 00:24:06 yeah do another one that's good good times galia brothers great angle first time long time got an issue that i could use some advice on my girlfriend of three years calls me entirely too much oh 15 20 times a day what fuck these What the fuck? These aren't phone calls. She's FaceTiming me. Oh, no. Yeah. While I'm at work, while I'm driving, you know, playing video games. So I don't know what to do.
Starting point is 00:24:35 I just start singing or making annoying noises to encourage her to get off the phone. Right, yeah. Wow. But that's not sustainable. I need some advice. It'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I swear that guy,
Starting point is 00:24:48 you wouldn't think that guy plays video games. But you would. Sort of love this guy. I think I'd wear his shirt with a pumpkin face stabbing his eye. So, okay. On the t-shirt. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:58 I guess, I don't. That, I'll say right now, that sounds like the most annoying thing a partner could possibly do 15 to 20 times a day FaceTime remember the someone you live with
Starting point is 00:25:09 remember the he lives with her yeah I mean like what remember the love potion number 9 movie where she had to keep or he had to keep calling her
Starting point is 00:25:16 to make sure he I think about that movie me too entirely too much we must have seen it together in the theater dude yeah
Starting point is 00:25:24 she has to keep calling him to make sure he's still there hey how's it going and then she falls in love with him again every like hour or something Entirely too much. We must have seen it together in the theater. Dude. Yeah. You have to keep calling him and make sure he's still looking. Hey, how's it going? And then she falls in love with him again every like hour or something. Yeah. And the closeup on his lips. Yeah. Yeah, dude. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Anyway. Why do you think of that film so much? I don't know. You know why I think I do? Because it's appropriate for this moment. I'm wondering why he's ruminating about it. I think I think about it because it left such an impression on me at that age. How old were you?
Starting point is 00:25:44 14. No, I was a little bit younger. And it was starting to like girls. And I was like, there's the idea that there's a way to make all of them like me. Was so exciting to me. You know, and I was like, I really sat up in my seat. And I was like, this is a deep insight into the male. Very much.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Yeah. So Tim. She's laughing. Your wife laughs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So 10. She's laughing. Your wife laughs. Yeah, yeah. That 10 to 14 window for males. It's not the same window for all men, but that window is like weird stuff is going on
Starting point is 00:26:14 in their brains. I actually have a question that's so funny you say that because I've been realizing this. This is gonna end in tears, this is gonna end in tears by the way. Chris, you can go home. No, I'm gonna be crying. But my memories, when I think about the things I remember throughout the course of my life,
Starting point is 00:26:26 most of my good memories are in that, like clear memories, I mean. Oh, that's interesting. Are in that window. Like I felt things. More intense. Yeah, exactly. Things are more intense. Yeah, it's because your hormones are turning on.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Yeah. And your frontal lobe is kind of kicking in. And your hippocampus is better formed, so you have more memory. Yeah. But really, there's an intensity of that period. and i've noticed that again this is males of course women have their own version of that sure but but i only might know more about the males having lived it myself is that things make like they imprint on your brain yeah like things images you see stay and they become preferences and you like those things. And you don't even, you sort of like them at the time,
Starting point is 00:27:06 but they just stay with you. Yes. Preferences, it's weird. It's weird in that, and it worries me now when they're so exposed to pornography. What are the preferences going to be? What are they going to like? And what are they going to be exposed to?
Starting point is 00:27:17 And it's so random almost. Yes, it's very random. It jumps up in front of your face and you have no choice. Once you've clicked, it's like that's going to be the thing that might get the thing that might get imported some other screwball friend of yours you're 12 exactly yeah i'm fucked now i'm gonna have to have a woman pee on me when i'm older but one of the examples they used though in the rehab was like you know if somebody likes to get
Starting point is 00:27:40 peed on maybe it's because they saw a woman peeing in the shower when they were younger. And I'm like, oh, this is, that's so fucked up. It's just so, the randomness for me is what- Well, it's also, and if your brain, if it's at a traumatic time or if it's coupled with some sort of traumatic experience, then it's in. Then it's now in, it's a thing. But some people would argue that some of these images are traumatic.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Yeah, totally. And so, yeah, so it's, there it is, you're done. Yeah, gosh, yeah. I wasn't even thinking about it. I was playing a video game. Oh, I don't play video games, unlike this guy, but I was playing it and I was shooting someone and my son saw it and he was like two and a half.
Starting point is 00:28:17 And I'm, I didn't even think about it. And I'm like, oh wait, this is, they look real now, video games. So I'm like, this is not right. So it's a very, I know we're both all troubled. Yeah, it's troubling. Cause there's no real easy solution. I've been thinking a lot lately
Starting point is 00:28:29 about the impact of technology. I mean, we've had like a leap forward. I don't think our brains are crazy. We're struggling with it. I found myself obsessing about the printing press. Like, oh, and that got 150 years of wars because of that thing. That's the thing.
Starting point is 00:28:43 It's like, and this is like, whoa. Such massive disruptors, the printing press, the internet. They're so similar and God knows what's going to happen now. At least it'll be fine. I agree with you. If it goes down. But anyway, let's help this kid. So yeah, I love this guy.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Yeah, this guy's great. Yeah. This guy's great. It's weird to me for that age group, especially because they don't call. Yeah, that's true. They get pissed when you call. They text. That's the weirdest thing. I was like, he's if she's calling him 15 to 20 times
Starting point is 00:29:09 how many times is she texting him but some people don't text but then it's like facetime's the i hate facetime because not only do you have to talk but you have to also hold it so your arm's tired and you're engaged and it's like dude it's it's- You can't look away like a normal phone call. No, I know. You can't pretend to listen. You can't do this. But anyway. So what does he do? So I think, I guess he could ask her to text. He could do that and see if he could dial it down from there.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Yeah, I was thinking almost ask if you want to have this, I was going to call it a confrontation, but it doesn't have to be. Like ask her why, just out of curiosity yeah why are you calling me why so much is it is there are you okay yeah are you okay you worried about me like or something because it could be that and he's got a couch and i love talking to you i love connecting with you oh man but sometimes i i can't get through my day i you know no big deal yeah it's gonna be it's gonna be a reaction i wouldn't be able to do that. Lightly broach it is what I would say.
Starting point is 00:30:05 You know how I love talking to you so much. Let's start there. Don't say it the way Chris says it. You know what you should do is talk for days about how much you love talking to her. Try to kill it. And then like seven days in be like, how come you call me 15 times though?
Starting point is 00:30:23 Right, yes, exactly. Diabolical. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Diabolical. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Diabolical. And then when she says, oh, you don't want me to talk, we say, hello, were you you the past seven days? Yeah, right. Telling you which I love it.
Starting point is 00:30:33 You're having the same conversations I have? You don't listen, you never listen to me. But then it could be something like I need to focus when I'm trying to get my day and I don't feel like I'm focusing when you call me. Maybe we should set, maybe structure it. That's good. Certain times, you know.
Starting point is 00:30:45 See, now we're talking. My wife loves structure. You know, she wants me to get a journal and like a list, like a list. Make lists? Dude, I haven't made a list. You don't like lists? You don't do lists? No way.
Starting point is 00:30:53 I get to one. I get to one. I get to one. It's a list. Technically, yeah. I'm saying it's not a list. Two, three is a list. One is just something I didn't do yet.
Starting point is 00:31:03 Right, right, right. For a long time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. i didn't do yet right right right for a long time i didn't make my colonoscopy appointment yeah i had to i start let's go together you got to go again i'm sure we go to the same place yeah maybe maybe i didn't do it yet oh it's over in pastina behind the probably yeah yeah i'm sure the same place yeah yeah let's go together go together cool go together i have to go every year because i have a really yeah because i have this thing this predisposition for- Oh, a year?
Starting point is 00:31:27 Every year. I stretched out like 18 months every year. Because it's like, but get the propofol. What's that? It just lights out. Oh, yeah. I will, for sure. Nah, I'm going to go natural.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I've done that before, too. Really? Yeah. Wow. Is it a little- I've heard it. I've never done it. Is it a little easier now than it used to be?
Starting point is 00:31:46 They have the cameras that go in. Right. And they have to develop the film in there. Right. Exactly. One hour photo though. They have to put some elves all day. It took more than an hour.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Yeah. 24 hour photo. So, so, so what are you asking? I've heard that it's a little less like invasive now. I heard it. No, it's not true. Okay. But they've got better at the anesthesia.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Because they used to also check your mouth at the same time too. Right, yeah. From your asshole. Get his mouth. Just keep going. Keep going. But by the way, I do both at the same time. I do the upper and the lower.
Starting point is 00:32:23 There you go. It's like the, what's that, centipede movie? Human centipede, yeah. So wait. I got to do that. Y'all will go together? Okay. I got to set it up too.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Maybe in June. It's my insert of time. Is June okay? Is June a long enough? June would be great. June's a good time for that. All right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:42 I think that that's good. All right. That's the best we can do. By the way, if that's the best thing that comes out of this podcast is that I finally schedule my colonoscopy appointment. It'd be a good thing. that alright yeah I think that that's good alright that's the best we can do for you by the way if that's the best thing that comes out of this podcast is that I finally schedule my colonoscopy appointment it'd be a good thing
Starting point is 00:32:48 and I go with you amazing I feel like we have better than the outcome of most episodes for sure that's actually almost a reality show
Starting point is 00:32:54 if we had two other guys two other celebs and we go in and get us or your brother can just come and bring a little camera yeah yeah yeah do the whole thing
Starting point is 00:33:02 I think we're onto something here actually sounds like jackass maybe, but anyway. But it'd be interesting because I really do, I want people to get this test. I mean, you know what I mean? Colonscopy?
Starting point is 00:33:12 Yes, you need to do that, you need your PSA. I mean, men should not be getting colon cancer, and women neither, and men should be, at least if they get prostate cancer, they should be on top of it. Because curable, if you find that early, it's like super curable. Everything's good early. Well, at least for the get prostate cancer it should be on top of it yeah because curable if you find that early it's like everything's good early well at least those two for sure yeah i gotta i gotta i'm also peeing more i should check my prostate oh whatever all right all right let's cover it okay okay we'll go uh all right next one next one chris getting
Starting point is 00:33:37 everything checked out what's up chris what's up matt i'm garrett up, Matt? I'm Garrett. And I'm Haley. Just wanted to start off by saying that I literally never listen to podcasts. And now the only podcast I listen to is Lifeline. Well, and The Private Record. Hey. And Ask Dr. Drew. And Ask Dr. Drew now. Of course. So our question is, we find, so we're married.
Starting point is 00:34:02 We find that whenever we're going out and hanging out with our other friends that are couples whether they're dating or married they always will talk bad about their significant others they'll be we'll be at a dinner table with a bunch of friends i'll be with a bunch of my guy friends and they'll be complaining about what the annoying stuff that their wives do or something like that. And we always feel like we have nothing to add to that. And complain. That's awesome. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:33 We don't really fight. Not even about the outfits? We don't really argue that much. I know. Segregadocious. But it's true. We don't really fight that much. And we just feel like, are we the weird ones? But it's true. We don't really fight that much.
Starting point is 00:34:47 And we just feel like, are we the weird ones? Or are we better than everyone else? Now she's talking my language. I like this. Are we? Are we better? Are we weird? Both.
Starting point is 00:34:57 You're both. Or maybe healthy balance of both. Should we just rub into everyone's face that we're better? Well, you are by being on this fucking show. This is the ultimate rubbing. Complain about the other person. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I think we're better than ever.
Starting point is 00:35:12 We're also super humble. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bye. I wouldn't know how you get your viewers and listeners to send such high quality videos in. I think that we... Do you like send instructions out?
Starting point is 00:35:22 Yeah, we have Chris Mocker go over and film them all. Right? Did you go get... I don't know. That was a particularly good one that they set up. I think that we- Do you like send instructions out with it? Yeah, we have Chris Mocker go over and film them all. Right? Do you go get- No. I don't know. That was a particularly good one that they set up. Even the guy in the car was upset.
Starting point is 00:35:30 The previous guy had a good angle and everything. You think so? Yeah. That's true, actually. Both of those last people- Tell you our secrets after the show. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:36 So you actually send them instructions, I bet. No. Because you know people follow instructions too. Yeah. Can you imagine? Okay. So anyway, what do we do with these two? Both of those people are Ali G.
Starting point is 00:35:45 But let me- Getting Murphy dressed up. let me just make sure I got it. Were they saying that when they go out with other couples, one member of the couple will start talking shit about the other one? What they were saying is when they go out with other couples, yes. So it's not like the guys are hanging out together and he has to hear about somebody's wife. Yeah. No, it is that.
Starting point is 00:36:02 It's when they're all hanging out, the guys separate and then the girls separate. Oh, I see. And then the guys are like, my wife is this and then the women are like, my husband is this. You're playing with fire, though. That's crazy to do that. But that's really common, though.
Starting point is 00:36:13 I know. It is common. It's so common. I don't do it. I don't ever do that because I don't fucking trust anybody. Yeah, well, that would be why I wouldn't do it. A number one.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Yeah, I'm not trusting any of these fucking clowns. Because he'll go home and just mention to the wife. Yes, yes. That's it. I listen to way too much these fucking clowns. Because he'll go home and just mention to the wife. Yes. Yeah. That's it. I listen to way too much Tupac to be trusting motherfuckers with that. So, and then, and also I feel like I say the thing to the person. I, yes.
Starting point is 00:36:38 All the time. Sometimes too much. Right. Yeah. You know. Yeah. We've established that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:44 Yeah. But. Could work on that probably. But yeah, he's working on it. Yeah. But it's one thing to kind of blow off steam. Right. Or to kind of joke about people. And it depends on what you're talking about too.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Right, but if you're really talking smack about somebody, or you're really complaining or it's a recurrent thing, like pull the guy aside are you okay yeah is everything all right so it's not that they're that abnormal i mean i want that for everybody yeah and most people could should have something like what these two have it's more the other ones that i think should be thought of as outliers you do have to blow off some steam though don't you you have to you have to have that shit but humor is usually in it though right yes yes usually it's like oh man you can look at me and they're doing the same thing about us and they should be yeah women talk a lot but yeah but it's
Starting point is 00:37:33 it's more in the order of with stuff we were just talking about you can't imagine how women's minds work right yeah it's these these quirky things that we notice in each other we're like i can't talk to her about it i can talk talk to Chris. Yes, right. There are those couples that truly neg each other, though, in front of everybody. And that's terrible. I cannot handle it. I can't either. I can't even be around that shit anymore.
Starting point is 00:37:54 I'm with you. It's so upsetting. What do you guys do when you're alone? That happened to me one time with an ex, and I just was like, all right, that's it. I can't help you. Oh, she started doing it all right, that's it. I can't help you. Oh, she started doing it? Yeah, she did it.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Because people will do it as a – it's really kind of abusive, really, because they'll use the room against you, trying to list other people. It's a splitting behavior. Bro, I'm a comedian, so I've felt plenty weirdness in front of people, and that just was like yeah whoa yeah
Starting point is 00:38:27 i can't remember what she said i remember my god it was it was just it was like oh dude i'll die today i'll just die yeah yeah yeah yeah that's a shame yeah i feel bad for you so anyway uh yeah um but good for you guys though you got nothing that terrible to add to the pot when it comes up. Just a little style issues, but it doesn't matter. Yeah, style issues aside. Yeah. Good. Yeah, they seem awesome.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Yeah, they seem very pleased with each other and happy. That's incredible. That's crazy to me. Celebrate it. My whole rule is if you're going to talk shit about somebody, you should feel comfortable with... I think I would say this to them as well. Well, not only that, if you're gonna talk shit about someone,
Starting point is 00:39:07 it should be really just to maybe to sound it out. Like, am I, is it me? Or is it somebody? That's actually really good. And then go back to the person you're concerned about if it isn't you. Am I crazy or is my wife a raging bitch? Like that, like that's what you mean.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Have you guys been feeling that as well or is that just a me thing? Every time we come to islands. All right. Do people around the country know what a hamburger place is? No, but that makes it better. All right. Islands is a really terrible hamburger place. Hamburger.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Yeah, yeah. I used to like it when I was 12. It's not that good though. Left an imprint when I was 12. It's one of those places you go so much. It's a place your family takes you when you're 12. Yes, that's very much correct. It is 100%.
Starting point is 00:39:43 And then it's one of those places where you go and you go so much. And then one day you're just like, why have I not realized that this isn't that fucking good? And then you never go again. This is the one at the mall in Pasadena? Yes. Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Absolutely. There's also one in Glendale that we would go to all the time. There is one in Glendale. Yeah. I don't like any restaurants that have like fake like birds and plants and shit though. That's like a thing. Yeah. It used to be more of a thing.
Starting point is 00:40:04 Way more. Way more. When there was like a rainforest restaurant. The rainforest cafe was a rainforest my wife made us go to rainforest cafe in vegas in vegas in vegas we walked all the way to rainworks it seems a perfect example should we talk to your guy friends right we gotta get louder because the storm happens they you know they make the storm it goes She's here right now. She knows. Is it me or is it? I don't like what it means. We got to get louder because the storm happens. You know, they make the storm. It goes.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The monkeys are fucking doing the thing.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:39 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. okay i need your help okay i have a small tattoo on the left side of my hip that i got like 10 years ago it's a latin phrase oh boy three words no never and over the years it just bad. It's smudged out. It just looks like nothing. It's just like black, smudgy words.
Starting point is 00:41:12 What did it say? Tell us. All lives matter. I always say I want to get it covered up or removed if I can't think of anything. And I just don't know what to get. I don't have any ideas. Cover it up, I see. That's the only tattoo I tattoo i have and unfortunately it's the one i'm stuck with so uh any help would any advice would help i'm gonna post it right here so you can see it oh okay cool okay there we go oh yeah
Starting point is 00:41:38 it's so tiny see it it's i don't know what it says it says all lives matter but i i i do that's that'd be funny though if you got if you, you know, I'm going to get something because all lives do matter. And then like a decade later, it means something. It means like basically say, I'm in the KKK. Why is it covered up? I'm in the KKK. That's what it says. I'm in the KKK.
Starting point is 00:41:58 Yeah, yeah. I got you. Whatever it is. All right. We're not going to see it. We don't speak Latin. But we have a question though first. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:04 Which is, we have to decision here, cover up or removal? That is the decision. If it's that small and you don't want it and you don't want any other tattoos, absolutely remove it. If it's that small. It's so easy.
Starting point is 00:42:17 It's so easy when it's that small. Yeah, if she had tattoos all over the place, I would get another one. Yeah, who cares? But if they're only tattoo, let's go back to the way nature made yeah just get rid of it it's also in a place that maybe won't hurt that bad yeah is there any world we encourage her to leave it i here's what i think don't ever get a tattoo in another language it's so chinese letters ridiculous that one's the most
Starting point is 00:42:44 ridiculous i mean that's the most ridiculous. I mean, that's the most ridiculous. It was such a trend, though. Just some guy that lives in Santa Barbara. When was that? When it was everybody getting those tattoos from 1990 to 2020? I think it still happens.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Is it still a thing? Gosh. People still get the tribal shit. That's what I can't believe. I get tattoos, obviously. I think if there were tattoos around, I'm a screwball enough, if there were tattoos when I was 19, I think I would have I get tattoos obviously. I think if there were tattoos around, I'm a screwball enough that if there were tattoos
Starting point is 00:43:05 when I was like 19, I think I would have got a tribal tattoo. Ah. Interesting. That's how messed up my brain was. That's how messed up my brain was at 19. Just across his chest. I just feel like
Starting point is 00:43:18 if you're going to get a tattoo and it's going to be words, definitely do it in your language. That's crazy but um i don't know what it says we don't speak latin even if we could see it but um we could we have this we have this oh yeah right we can look at that right um what i wonder what did you look it up can you look it up is it so do you look at it it's so smudged that you can't even see it i kind of could read vitale or something at the end oh Yeah, I'd say...
Starting point is 00:43:45 There we go. I'd say... Pause it. Oh, Anthony. See if you can get it and just Google it. Anthony. Anthony, dude.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Anthony. No, it's all right. Yeah, raise it up. Don't waste the show on this. No. I don't want you to waste the whole show on this. We got to razz Anthony
Starting point is 00:44:02 at least once every episode. Okay, Anthony, come on, man. You can do better. He's still doing it, dude. Anthony's terrible. Even after you're getting in got to razz Anthony at least once every episode. Come on, man. You can do better. He's still doing it, dude. Anthony's terrible. Even after you're getting in on the razz. You need a new tech guy.
Starting point is 00:44:10 Yeah. Anthony, you hear that? New producer. Yep. That's the only tattoo I have. And unfortunately, it's the one I'm stuck with. You know, you had to get people to tell you also where they're from. I always go, where's she from?
Starting point is 00:44:21 I'm curious about that. There we go. There it is. What's that say? Okay, what's that say? It's so faded. Is it so? Tourists. What the hell?
Starting point is 00:44:33 It doesn't look like Latin. It doesn't. I wonder if it is Latin. It might be. They just made it up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not Latin at all. Well, let's see if you guys can figure it out.
Starting point is 00:44:41 The team is working on it. They're on it. Our crack team. All right, whatever. We'll guys can figure it out. The team is working on it. Our crack team. They're on it. All right, whatever. If you find it out. Get rid of it exactly. Next show, send it in. The consensus is get rid of it.
Starting point is 00:44:53 Go get a, it'll be cheap. It won't be expensive. It'll look great. There'll be nothing left behind. They'll vaporize it, and that'll be the end of that. You never have to think about it again. Yeah, exactly. Great.
Starting point is 00:45:02 All right. Yeah, we figured that one out. Next one. Next one. By cheap, I don't mean, I mean like getting a picture remote is it again. Yeah, exactly. Great. All right. Yeah, we figured that one out. Next one. Next one. By cheap, I don't mean, I mean like getting a picture remote is very expensive. Right, right. This would be not that big. Colors and everything.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Yeah. My question is, what is the meaning of life to you? Oh, come on. Curious what you think about that. That's so hot. I'm not going to wear a shirt that is, you know. Has no pants on. No way.
Starting point is 00:45:23 I'm not going to show it. It's a Hooters shirt. I went once just to see. Meaning of life was not in Hooters. I will say. I am smoking a cigarette. I don't think that's the meaning of life. It's probably bad. You don't have to say every single thing
Starting point is 00:45:37 is or isn't the meaning of life. That's a good question. That's the wrong order of things. I'll tell you what. He did that in all the wrong order. I just like, though, again, you worry about the the male brain going to hooters to find the meaning of life yeah there it is don't worry i know what you're thinking it's not the meaning of life i know you all think it's there i checked for us yeah so dude here's the deal i love i like that you used you have you gave us that question because to me questions like that are the worst questions in the world okay like that when you say when you say like that it means absolutely nothing
Starting point is 00:46:10 what's the meaning of life it doesn't mean anything well what what what does that mean what okay you know what does it mean be i i would argue that most people in this country are confused about these things and this this guy is no exception. Yes. And really what they're asking is one of two things. Okay. Yeah. And one of them, they use a word
Starting point is 00:46:32 that they don't know what that means. So what is happiness? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But they don't even know what that means. Right. Or how do you lead a good life? Ah.
Starting point is 00:46:41 And those are two viable questions. But the happiness part, I would zero in on and say, you don't mean euphoria. yes because heroin addicts are happy no no no but they mean some how do you get a more nourishing meaningful thing which starts to bleed back over to how do you lead a good life yeah and so what do you think well you know what that made me think of is one time i was in i i used to open for this comedian Jokoy
Starting point is 00:47:05 and I before you say something shitty about him I know Joy very well no no he's great we're friends I figured you knew him but
Starting point is 00:47:14 he we were in Miami I was opening for him and we had a weekend in Miami and I brought my I had my first I had been married previously
Starting point is 00:47:23 so my first wife was with me and we made a time out of it in Miami and then were and i i brought my i had my first i have been married previously so my first wife was that was with me and we made a time out of it in miami and then after that i had not been to miami until uh years later when i was headlining and uh i had an opener and i had worked so hard in my career to get where I was that part of the thing that made us divorce was my job. And I was walking down the street in Miami with my opener and I look up and I see the hotel that I stayed at with my ex-wife. When you're doing Joe. When I was with Joe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:03 And I'm here now. I just happened to walk by it back years later and I look up and I say, whoa, I'm actually at the hotel I stayed at with the thing. I tell my opener about the thing and he says, oh, and he says, was it worth it? Wow. That's an interesting way of framing the question yeah just right away straight in he asked that yeah no he just said huh when we sat there for a little bit he was like do you think it was worth it because you know he wants to be a comedian too and he was opening and he was like yeah you know do i make this my do i you know blinders on just the career and the answer i came up with was it was a little bit worth it yeah yeah it was a little bit worth it yeah you don't you know happiness is a weird thing
Starting point is 00:48:54 because yeah you think you you you drive a better car you're going to be happy you think you get more things you're going to be happy that's that has nothing not nothing no no it makes you more comfortable it makes you right it makes it gives you the opportunity to not worry about you're not going to get food and my car payments of you so that's a kind of you can access happiness a little easier yeah exactly but it's not what makes you happy and it's really wild and i've spent time thought thinking about this and i don't know if happiness is the meaning of life but i know what makes me happy right Like my family, being with my family makes me very happy. So everyone always goes to it. Another way of looking at this is when people are at the end of their lives, how do they look at it?
Starting point is 00:49:31 And they always, same thing, relationships. Yeah, it's true. Always, always, always. It really is true. And there are sacrifices that you can make together even as a relationship to gain more security, right? And then you can enjoy yourselves together with a little more freedom. I think freedom is one of the things
Starting point is 00:49:49 you get from some success. And so, yeah, relationships and then service, which we kind of talked about, making a difference for other people, which you guys want to do here. This is a important thing. Sometimes I feel a little bad though, honestly, about like, cause like, you know, my job.
Starting point is 00:50:05 You're making people laugh and that people don't, performing is, you're giving people something. Yeah. You are. And laughter especially. I think sometimes when I don't laugh for a while, I kind of like notice it. It's like, I think my immune system is working as well.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Yeah. So it's, you do provide something. You guys really do. Yeah. Okay. I think performance, I is working as well. So you do provide something. You guys really do. Yeah. Okay. I think performers. Okay. I don't believe you.
Starting point is 00:50:28 I think it makes sense though as a performer. I'll accept it. I don't believe you. To feel that you're really not doing much of anything. To be like, well, all I do is this, that, or the other. Yeah. But then also you get paid for it. But I guess you get paid for being a doctor too.
Starting point is 00:50:40 You get paid for everything. Yeah. Yeah. I mean. Okay. Actually, just let me feel better. Well, maybe it's a weird time in comedy because it's been a little more of a doctor too. You pay for everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, okay. Actually just, that made me feel bad. Well, it's weird. Maybe it's a weird time in comedy
Starting point is 00:50:47 because it's been a little more of a rock star job. Yeah, it's really weird. That's new. No, I know. I'm sure when you went in, you didn't know that was, yeah. No, no. That's kind of a new aspect to it. And that has its own kind of momentum to it
Starting point is 00:51:00 and preoccupation. As a matter of fact, when I started stand up, I remember thinking like, how come you can't be cool too? And now that's like every comedian is like, I'm the coolest guy you've ever seen, sold out. Which is not cool. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:51:13 It's already gone over the other way. So anyway. But it's interesting. I've always thought that performers didn't get enough credit for, cause they have to do focus so much on their career and their performing and the next job and stuff. They don't get enough credit for what they're have to do focus so much on their career and their performing and the next job and stuff. They don't get enough credit
Starting point is 00:51:26 for what they're giving to people. Interesting, yeah. Because you're really, whether it's a singer or a performer, you're giving people something, they have an experience. Yeah, that's true. And the compartmentalization you have to use sometimes is crazy. I mean, you perform, so you're on sometimes.
Starting point is 00:51:38 So like when you're going through shit and you're like, then you got to go out and do your thing. That's the hardest part for me. And even just doing this, if i'm having a shit day it's hard it's just hard to like put it aside and be like i'm here yeah all right let's go pretend it's not happening you want to talk about yeah yeah yeah my video is next all right uh next one hey chris and matt josh here i have a corporate job and I'm allocated a certain amount of hours for vacation during the year. And I just received an email from my manager saying that Christmas Eve is already booked up.
Starting point is 00:52:16 The day after Thanksgiving is already booked up and I have about 60 hours of vacation time myself. Oh, so you can't. And mind you, it's only February. And I've asked why. And it's because we need to have a certain amount of people available. But I've earned those hours. It just really doesn't make sense to me.
Starting point is 00:52:31 It makes me so mad. That sucks. Do I keep bugging my manager? Do I go above my manager? That doesn't seem right. Wait, I'm not sure I get it. And also, Chris, we were both born on March 29th.
Starting point is 00:52:43 Oh, nice. That's cool. So he's accumulated a bunch of overtime so you know how they make you take a vacation yes uh people already people that work with him already picked the days oh they got in ahead of him so like he can't take the day after thanksgiving or the day or christmas eve because other people in january 2nd like the those i hate people like that see i i know not only hate people like that, I hate managers that don't pay attention to that stuff. I had to manage a schedule like that for physicians at one point. It was hard.
Starting point is 00:53:11 It's hard, by the way, to do that. I cannot imagine. But you have to really sit and get the scales of justice out and start balancing these things. This guy didn't do that. He just did whatever. But also, I would say, like, actually managing physicians. Oh, it's terrible it was the worst that's gotta be it's the worst because look if i'm honest comedians are crazy doctors
Starting point is 00:53:33 a lot of them have to be fucking crazy but intense they're intense that's it that's it they're intense and everybody's an expert and everyone's an exception and everybody thinks they should be whatever and they they're not wrong, right? You're actually dealing with that group and it was tough. That makes sense. It was a rough year. I lose my mind. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:53 Wow. What makes sense about that too, even more with doctors, is that you want your doctor to be sure as hell. So it's like it fosters this. Interesting. Even the patients, what do you think? Tell me what's going on. I want you to be certain. So it's like it fosters this. Interesting. Even the patients, what do you think? Tell me what's going on. I want you to be certain.
Starting point is 00:54:07 So you're sure I should take two of these and call you in the morning? Exactly, yeah. All right. I'm going to get my mouth from my asshole. Is that what we've established here? Yeah, that's, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:54:20 That sucks, dude. Yeah, I think he should go to the manager. Yeah, I think he has to go. But he's got to go. No, just go to the manager. To the manager. He's going to be having trouble. Yeah, at least at first think he should go to the manager. Yeah, I think he has to go to the manager. But he's got to go. No, just go to the manager. To the above, he's going to have trouble. Yeah. At least at first, you have to go to the person.
Starting point is 00:54:29 I go right to Biden. But maybe go to him as like, but you got to get, he's got to get over his upset. If he goes in with a head of steam, it's not going to go well. That's good. See, that's something that I would, that's great. I would never think of that. Oh, yeah. And then he's got to say, what happened?
Starting point is 00:54:43 This seems so unfair. How is this possible? Right, yeah. I'm going to teach you guys think of that. Oh, yeah. And then he's got to say, what happened? This seems so unfair. Right, yeah. I'm going to teach you guys something very important. Oh, good. Which is there is – we live in a world – by the way, I've been like really behind what Dr. Phil has been doing lately. One of the things that used to bother me, he'd do all this confronting on TV, right? Yeah, yeah. And people assumed he was doing treatment.
Starting point is 00:55:02 He was not. He was doing television. Yes, yes. And his confrontations were good televisions. Right. And I admired that he could do television. It used to bother me that people would think that's treatment. You should be confronting people.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Right. Right. You confront somebody, all the force fields go up. My doctor's jury's everything. You lose everything. You cannot get anywhere with confrontation. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:55:20 Unless they're doing something dangerous or something. You have to do it with force. And then you better have more people with you. because you got to make it stop now yeah right the thing you use is something called wonderment so you go a lot of a lot of i want how could i have a lot of questioning and starting with the word wonder i wonder how that happened it seems so unfair i wonder what happened here i have all these things you know i wonder wonder wonder wonder especially when you know the answer it's good right stay in wonderment yeah all right yeah okay and then and then you're saying go into this guy and go this is where we're we're not in march it's already not what
Starting point is 00:55:56 could have happened i'm wondering what this is i i have my 60 days of stuff ahead of me and how did this happen or i don't certainly don't want it to happen again. It seems so unfair. Yes. And let that dude, let him think about it and solve it himself. You have to use it a little sparingly though. You can't be like with your wife, like,
Starting point is 00:56:11 I wonder why this food tastes like shit. You could, you could, you spend all day on it. You can find a way. You can do it. You can do it. I wonder,
Starting point is 00:56:19 I wonder if, I wonder if somebody, did you use, did I, I wonder if I put too much salt in there. There we go. You gotta wonder more, put too much salt in there there we go put more wonder on yourself you know what you've been working on this roast
Starting point is 00:56:30 I swear it's been since yesterday you left the meat out and then you made the things I wonder why it tastes like utter shit just to be clear I actually do love everything you make I said it I said you know what my wife's a good cook and there was like and then somebody was saying on another podcast they were like nah, nah, how good could she be?
Starting point is 00:56:47 She's white. But dude, she kills it. Ah, yeah. Maybe you're a great cook. Listen, people forget European heritage. Yeah. There's a lot of good cuisine in European heritage. True.
Starting point is 00:56:57 But last time we went to, actually, no, one of the times we went to London, we tried to get breakfast and we got beans and a tomato and it was awesome. Except the breakfast. Except British. We have to bring in the west indies you think with how long that society's been around to figure out breakfast they haven't done it yet yeah it's crazy bangers and eggs yeah it's just like a piece of a little piece of toast sliced up tomatoes and beans that's not breakfast that's stuff in the cabinet when there's an earthquake. Yeah. You know?
Starting point is 00:57:26 Yeah. Yeah. All right. That's good. Wonderman. That's good. I never heard of that. Therapeutic Wonderman.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Okay. Therapeutic Wonderman. So when you're in therapy, it got used on you, I promise. Fuck that. See? God damn it. Because part of it is knowing what's going on and then don't reveal it. Posing like that.
Starting point is 00:57:44 I wonder what that was like. I wonder what happened here. I'm having memories of that being done on me. Yeah. Chris, I'm wondering. They got me with the wonderment. Wonderment, yeah. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:57:55 Sounds like- More videos. Yeah, yeah. More videos. They're such high quality. Chris, my name is Sophie. I love you guys. Hi, Sophie. My question is, as like a 5'1", introverted girl, I guess, how can I assert my opinions, stand up for myself,
Starting point is 00:58:13 kind of clap back at people when they're rude to me, or mumble things under their breath? I've had issues because I don't really intimidate people, and I always regret not doing it. Anyway, I love you guys very much. And I go to college near Green Bay. Very tiny. Don't know how we have a big sports team.
Starting point is 00:58:33 I'd really like to have you, but I can't come because I'm too poor. Aw. See? Send her tickets. You have her info, right? Yeah. We'll get her tickets to the show. I'm being Green Bay.
Starting point is 00:58:43 Had you ever been up to the original Green Bay? I've never been. I drove by it once and I was like, we are in the middle of nowhere. It's a stadium. It's crazy. It makes sense why their football team, why they love them so much.
Starting point is 00:58:55 Yeah, the fanatics. Well, they come from all around. That's right. So anyway, so poor thing. Yeah, I feel for you. I think, I think. Say it. Well, i was just thinking because i have a kind of a thought that has a similar feeling i was thinking about like myself like when i had to do stuff and and honestly when i started stand-up it was one of those things like how am i going to get
Starting point is 00:59:17 on stage and do this yeah i'm i don't want i'm it goes against everything i feel like i should be doing yes i know i want to be funny, but I remember thinking, okay, I was at the show, first real show. I was like, just focus your legs on taking a step one, step two, and keep doing that until you get on stage. And when you're on stage, you have to start talking. So like, I feel like if you break it down.
Starting point is 00:59:42 That's good advice in general for almost everything just put one foot yeah yeah i guess that is what i'm saying and put your feet on the ground right say what you mean to say yeah and and and and the thing is it's usually never as scary as you think it's gonna be yeah whatever that is whatever that thing is so get so it. And then, I mean, how do I do it? You just have to do it. Well, you have to get good at it eventually. But the only way to get good at it is to keep doing it, which sucks.
Starting point is 01:00:13 But I'm fearful that she is projecting something onto people. Because you look at her, she's so sweet and tiny and stuff. Why would people have any issue why would they be saying i hadn't thought that but that makes sense yeah saying something under your breath around her why would you do that unless she was doing something that motivated that so her preoccupation with other people she needs to look at that also most people unfortunately don't care and they don't and that's almost more painful for humans they don't that they're not being seen and noticed and unfortunately being not seen is much more common than being seen for sure
Starting point is 01:00:49 yeah and and they unless you're doing something to impinge on people in some way they really don't care and if it's something meaningful like like they i don't know they're doing something or saying something that you think is wrong then then you'll find more motivation, by the way, to stand up and do what's right. And it's about connecting to who you really are and defending it, that's all. You don't have to be aggressive. At least she thinks she has to be aggressive.
Starting point is 01:01:19 That's the thing that stood out to me as well. You don't need to be combative in any way. Just put your feet on the ground and say what you want to say. It's so much, there's so much more fear. It's kind of like what you're saying in the anticipation of how the confrontation might go than the actual confrontation. Well, it's also that confrontation world we live in. That's not, we shouldn't be confronting anybody about anything. We should be approaching, sharing, questioning, wondering, whatever. You're not going to get very far with confrontation.
Starting point is 01:01:47 Yeah, that's definitely true. Yeah. So there you go. I'm bumming you guys out. No, I just, she was so sweet. That's why it struck me. It's like, who is gonna be- That is weird, yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:59 Who's gonna walk away from her and say, oh, that bitch. Under the rug. Yeah. That person's obviously got a problem. That's gotta be a projection. You're expecting that from people for some reason. Yeah. You're going to walk away from her and say, oh, that bitch. Under their breath. Yeah. That person's obviously got a problem. That's got to be a projection. You're expecting that from people for some reason.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Yeah. You're not going to get it. Expect better things from people. That's good. That's good. Yeah. Definitely expect it to not be muttering things under their breath. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:16 Negative things about you. She looks likable. Why wouldn't somebody like her? Very likable. And if somebody doesn't like you, it's about them. They are. About you. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:23 Well, that's true. All right. Good. Well, that's good. Thank you. That flew by. Jesus. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:02:29 515. We did it. Look at that. Ask Dr. Drew. The show, you can get it anywhere. We've got our guests. Thank you so much for Dr. Drew Pinsky coming by and celebrating the 100th episode. I hope this was a sort of deserving of a 100th episode.

Matt, do you get to go see them? him you get to meet with people and stuff yeah in the house but yeah i know that's what i was wondering yeah no i i i do i mean his fans are legion and they have been forever and it's very cool to see but i feel like you guys have expanded beyond just yeah for sure yeah yeah definitely yeah yeah we have this a lot of people yeah just they a lot of people come up to me too yeah and say that they're they they like you and tell your brother and i got
