Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome to Deeper Lore. This is a short bonus episode designed to be a topical guide to the most recent episode of Lore. I've explained it before, but for those who are new, Deeper Lore is here to help you find similar episodes to the most recent one. There are so many episodes in our catalog now that it's pretty difficult to track down specific ones. That's what happens when you make a podcast for almost 10 years. It's not a gimmick to grab your downloads or sell you ads.

It's my attempt to find a helpful tool for the superfan who wants to take the ideas and the concepts of the most recent episode and go a bit deeper on the topic. Thus, deeper lore. So this week with episode 257 blasted, we dug into the world of the fairies and medicine and explore a type of local practitioner that was known as a fairy doctor. These people were surprisingly popular and they operated according to a highly specific code, all of which gives us fascinating material for this week's episode. But of course, this isn't the first time that we've talked about fairies.

And while just about everyone has heard of them, there are some older episodes of the show that might help round out your fairy education. So here are my top three choices. First, download episode 5, Under Construction. Related to fairies in a lot of folklore, and sometimes just downright conflated with them, are Elves. And this classic lore episode is a great way to see the similarities and differences while

hearing some amazing stories along the way. Next, head over to episode 11, Black Stockings. Not only was this early lore episode adapted for TV in the first season of the Amazon show, but it's also one of the most painful and informative introductions to fairies that you could ever ask for. Part true crime, part folklore class on changelings. You can't go wrong starting here. And finally, give a listen to episode 197, Taken.

As the title might suggest, the episode is all about fairy abductions. And while changelings do fit that category, there are a bunch more stories that kind of circle around that topic.
