Hey folks, Aaron here.
Welcome to Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to be a topical guide to the most recent episode
of Lore, the one that came out this current Monday.
As I've explained before, Deeper Lore is here to help you find similar episodes to
the most recent one.
With so many episodes in our catalog now, after close to 10 years, it's pretty difficult
to track down the specific ones that you're looking for.
So, this is meant to be a big neon sign pointing you in the direction of other similar episodes.
No, it is not a gimmick to grab more downloads or an effort to sell more ads.
It's just an attempt to help out all of those lore superfans or brand new listeners
who want to learn more about the same topic that we covered on this week's brand new episode of lore, but feel overwhelmed by all the episodes that
are out there.
You know, to go a bit deeper.
Thus, deeper lore.
This week, with episode 260 Ghost Rider, we step into a very bizarre world.
It's a little corner of the Spiritualist movement that focuses on living people becoming
sort of puppets
of the otherworldly spirits there in order to help those dearly departed artists create
something in the here and now.
And I know what you're thinking, this stuff is just too wild and wacky to be real, right?
All I'll say is this, the stories in this episode are super compelling, but at the end
of the day, you get to be the judge and decide if it's hogwash or hopeful.
But as you'd probably imagine, this week's episode isn't the first time that we've gone
deep into the topic of communicating with the afterlife.
And if the world of seances, ectoplasm, and talking boards are your guilty pleasure, here
are three more episodes that deliver what you're after.
First, download episode 37, Passing Notes.
Now fair warning folks, this one is old enough that there are two versions in the feed.
There's the classic ancient recording quality of my early lore episodes, and then there's
an episode 37 that's labeled Remastered, which, well, is exactly what it sounds like.
Oh, and another reason that this is a good one to revisit is because it became an episode
in the first season of the TV show too.
Which means that after you're done re-listening to it, you can go watch it on Amazon and see
these characters come to life.
And for the ultimate super fans out there, I was actually on set during the filming of
that episode, hiding just around some of the corners watching the action take place.
Which means, in a way, I was haunting the set.
So, boo.
Okay, next up, head over to episode 61, Labor Pains.
Folks, this is a wild one.
It's sort of a hybrid of spiritualism and steampunk.
And by that, I mean that it covers a story of a guy with a messiah complex,
one that drove him to construct a machine designed to be a
mechanical vessel for God himself. It's crazy stuff and I think you'll love it. And finally,
go listen to episode 215, Mind Over Matter. As you can probably guess, this whole world of
spiritualist mediums was ripe for exploitation, especially when the idea of celebrity mediums
entered the picture. But rather
than turn spiritualism into a boring same-old sort of story, it ended up
injecting some natural and supernatural drama into the script. Want to meet some
wild and amazing personalities that help the world of spiritualism reach the
masses? Then episode 215 is just what you need. So there you go. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past.
Episodes 37, 61, and 215 are waiting for you to find in this podcast feed.

And until next time, stay spooky.
