Your timing was throwing me off there.
Yeah, I tried to throw it off, mix it up a little bit.
Sometimes I just, you know, we could almost just like,
that first 10 seconds of things I say,
we could just have it be part of the recorded intro.
We'll just change the number.
We'll and the ads
too like we actually don't have to start talking until like 10 minutes into this thing we should
stop explaining this otherwise like everyone's gonna start tuning up like wait a second this is

Should I read a little something while we're at it?
Yeah, as long as we got the juices flowing
okay today's show is brought to you by texas power bars buddy caps first started lifting
weights in the late 60s and began power lifting in the mid 70s at the time he was working for
image barbell building gym equipment around 1976 a local machine shop started making olympic bars
for them calling it the image bar. In 1977, Image Barbell became
Champion Barbell. It was then that Buddy started looking at the bars with an intent of changing
them for the better. In 1979, Buddy bought his first lathe to begin addressing the known issues.
In 1980, his passion, drive, and purpose now had a greater mission. Buddy set out on his own to make
what he believed was the greatest bar he'd ever seen and trained with, and the Texas Power Bar was born.
It was strong as a house with the best in Erlene and was maintenance-free.
Hundreds of state, national, international, world, and massonomics powerlifting records
have been and continue to be set and broken on the Texas Power Bar.

Boy, I'm just looking at you on the camera here tommy and seems like you're wearing something pretty stylish over there some fly looking dudes
on here you do not look chilly tonight we got the we got the memo apparently over here the
to wear matching black hoodies yep we're going straight matching on every episode from now on
we always wear the exact same thing i'm gonna grow a beard and dye it brown so people are like is that the guy talking to himself or
not your hair just your beard yeah like just so people know that there is actually two of us
and then uh you look like one of those weird guys that's dying part of his
hair on it but not all of it is that intentional an accident what's going on there uh but you are
wearing the brand new massonomics hoodie i see i am you are too from what i can tell that black
and white really pops it does it does we thought about going with something different we're like
no we need something that pops yeah black and white pops we really did think about different
we thought long and hard long and hard hard about some other color schemes on this,
but we landed on the black with the white print just because it just pops so much.
It does.
So much popping.
And the hoodie's nice.
It's comfortable.
Yep.
It's got a little flex to it.
And they fit.
So these are brand new just out.
As we're recording, they come out tomorrow.
They come out on Thursday.
But as you're listening, for most of you, they just released at the end of this last week and um this is our first
hoodie that we've had in quite a while i mean it might be a couple years do we have a hoodie last
year we had a zip up yeah so we did not have an actual just regular hoodie and uh we this is a new
hoodie blank that we're using for the first time and i we're this is uh much happier with this one
yeah we've had some ones that we haven't liked as well it's been really hard to source quite the
right thing and i think we got it right here didn't we yeah it's it's weird how tough finding
the correct hoodie can be you go with what seems to be the popular option and we have not been
happy with that oh it's been fine but we haven't been like super excited about it no this one's this one we're kind of excited about yes ticks ticks the boxes a little better
so we have this one i mean we're going to talk about the drop yeah we probably should i guess
technically it's happened by now one other note on this we were able to do these up to size 4x
for the first time so the big boys yes can get in on the hoodies for the first time like
some other ones we've only been able to go to 2x before and now we're up to four and what would you call this this is a brand new design
yeah so this is the mss nmx design yeah we abbreviated it a little bit because vowels
are for suckers vowels are for suckers and not we don't have time for like this is a time-saving
time is of the essence yeah like you don't have to be bothered saying the entire word you can't
say the whole word so and say you have instead you have to say each letter individually yeah
instead of being like three syllables it's yeah well 10 letters um but yeah so it's the mss nmx
abbreviation we have massonomics apparel co established 2014 we got the logo and it's black
and white it just this is one of those staple items that we've wanted and needed for so long
and we got it and it just works with everything.
Don't miss out on this one either.
I would say this is going to be a classic.
What do we got there?
What's in Tanner's hoodie pocket sack?
You don't want to know.
The best part is we can be recording a podcast now
and I can be playing a little pocket pool.
Everyone's favorite sport yeah so
what else about the drop so we got the hoodie uh oh next up actually we're gonna wake we'll work
our way down we have new tea in this one yeah okay um also a brand new design new design it's
the never gonna stop tea yeah do we want to go into more detail on maybe not maybe we'll leave some mystery on that one but also i really like that being up front and honest i love this hoodie design i
also really love that t-shirt design i was wearing the t-shirt earlier today and it's a good tee you
never stopped did you i never did well i technically had to take it off i worked out in it so i had to
shower but otherwise i wouldn't have i wouldn't have stopped you ever never would have stopped
yeah besides that i would have kept going uh that is a that is a really cool
design though and something brand new a little different than i think it's uh unique in the way
of we haven't really done something different for us yeah yeah so be on the lookout for that one
and then we have a not an apparel item but we have a beverage item. Yes. That is the first ever Masonomics coffee mug.
Yep.
Yep.
And what is it, a 10-ounce?
It's a 10-ounce.
10-ounce mug.
So it's not a big, it's not an oversized coffee mug.
A lot of people are trying to, you know, get you on these oversized coffee mugs.
We wanted the right size.
We want 10.
So you can have like five cups now.
And truthfully, it is a relatively small coffee cup.
It is in comparison to most mugs nowadays.
It's more like the size of what you go to a diner.
Yes.
And they say, can I top you off?
They're like, that's about the size of a coffee cup.
So they don't want you drinking at all and then wasting all that coffee.
Well, and also, I don't really want a cup of like 25 ounces of coffee.
Well, it gets cold so fast.
I'd rather have the 10-ouncer and just fill it up again.
But I don't know. That's yeah i totally agree so we got the we got the lift hard
live easy yeah so it's red it's a red mug lift hard live easy on one side logo on the other
nice little extra item to have in there and then finally last but not least we have the massonomics
crew length socks these are not deadlift socks. That might crush some dreams.
Yeah, unless you have pretty small legs, maybe.
If you're really short and really skinny,
you might be able to pull them into deadlift socks.
But we have the black and red Massanomics crew socks here.
It's a black sock.
It has the red band around the upper ankle
that says Massanomics on both sides of it.
We have the Massonomics logo M on the top of the foot.
And then on the bottom of the sole, we have lift hard, live easy.
Red toe, red heel.
The red really pops on this one too.
The red really pops.
Here's my, like, here's my this is uh me speaking my truth on this and
this is a guy before people should know this is a guy that buys a lot of socks so he knows
every once in a while i buy like once every like six years or something so this is my truth i'm
going to say two things first thing about the socks these socks are awesome the quality really
turned out good we love the way the socks turned out and
um you know they're priced accordingly they're not that cheap as far as a pair of socks goes
but they they're not that expensive no there's a lot of they're not we're not charging 20 bucks
for these there's a lot of brands that charge more than that but what you're getting is you
will be very happy with right we're not charged are we charging 20 bucks for these 25 oh no i
couldn't remember what we said 15 i think yeah yeah no you're right yeah am i getting my numbers all mixed up no i think 15 is what those will go
out so no they're uh they're 1999 yeah i think it'll be i was about to sound really dumb i think
they're 15 give or take a dollar but um i think you'll really be happy with if you're a fan of
crew socks you're going to be really happy with those.
The mug, there's nothing wrong with it,
but we're pricing that accordingly.
You know, the mug is like $10 to $12
because this isn't like some enormous elaborate mug.
Like it's pretty simple.
It's a pretty basic product.
It's not vacuum sealed with layers of steel.
It's just a, it's just a, it's a very basic mug.
Yeah. vacuum sealed with layers of steel it's just a it's just a it's a very basic mug yeah and um if you hand wash the mug it'll last a lot longer i would also throw that out there also we're not
going to charge that much for the mug because it is a it is just a very basic product where
in comparison i think the socks are are pretty premium you know what i'm saying what i'm does
that make sense what I'm getting at?
Oh, I get what you're saying.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Don't expect the world's best coffee mug.
Right.
I'd say it might be the world's coolest coffee mug.
Right.
And it's very reasonably priced.
I think you'll be very happy with what you get for the price.
Yeah.
True on everything.
I'm just happy that now after today,
I have two pairs of these socks.
Yeah.
Because I had to model a pair.
Yeah.
I just had to bust out the one so far. one to model them so now i got two hopefully some people
buy somewhere else each of us are gonna have like a lot of lifetime supply i could think of worse
problems though that's true especially for me when i don't buy that there's much worse things that
could happen uh that being said i don't buy socks although you and i did just buy a whole bunch of
socks so that's like the most
essentially a lifetime supply so hopefully someone buys our socks yes um do we have anything else
about the drive that's the draft that's the drop in a nutshell that is the drop in a nutshell how
did this drop get in this bloody nutshell i'd do that joke every once every like 10 episodes or so
yeah once every time the word nutshell is brought up uh yeah so go out and buy those please yes you can get a jump start on your holiday shopping
with those items yeah so i love this here's uh if you've been playing along at home i love the
sweatshirt hoodie best hoodie we've ever had t-shirt love it best one of my favorite new designs we've
ever had socks love them i think they're i think they're awesome high quality i think you won't be
disappointed the mug maybe by the mug it's a mug yeah our logo's on it like you should be
respecting that we've given you like that we can give you
the uh real you gotta do something to average out yeah right right i feel like they're honest
about the other things being good because they're saying the mug's so so real straight shooters yeah
yeah um i'm incredibly thirsty right now this isn't a what's in the can but we should have brought the mugs we should have damn it ah well there's always next week yeah um this isn't a what this is
the one time it's a line we're just thirsty and i'm so so thirsty yeah someone said that the mugs
are the uh big alex said the mugs are the deadlifter shorts of massonomics drink containers
we do have a kind of like that we kind of have a lineage of uh
drink containers too if you go back earliest would be the flex flask flex flask classic uh spot in
massonomics history if you don't know what the flex flask is pause this episode go back listen
to the first 200 and come back and resume where we're at here like until you know people love
remember we brought them to the arnold people loved those they they had to touch them hold them and then go okay i
gotta buy this we sold every single one of them we didn't have any left you know i think we have
to consider bringing back the flex flask if if they're even remotely affordable at this point
they probably got way out of freaking whack and you probably can't even get them but as like an
affordable nice quality product right there did we charge like
25 for those or something like it was too it was way too cheap yeah looking like that same thing
from hydro flask it was an off-brand hydro flask that same thing from them is like 60 and we were
charging like 25 for it yeah i got a hair in my mouth i cannot get it out oh sometimes with my
beard that happens and i realize wait the hair is
still attached to my body never left yeah it's not coming out because it still has a an attach
point i uh i was feeling really really brave tonight my my wife uh her sister was in town
and they said my wife's sister they They said, screw you, Tommy.
We're going to the bar.
And you get the kids.
And the joke was they went to the gym, and it was like, this is our room.
No, that was not the joke.
So they left me.
Classic joke, though.
And I didn't have, there really wasn't much for food here.
And my boy's two and a half.
My daughter's two months old yep and i'm thinking
they said and i said we don't have any food when i do this she said go to culver's and i'm like
that sounds really good butter burger better brand of beef makes the butter burger better
exactly that's what's going through my head i can't get that out of it it's on repeat
and i'm just thinking this could be such a bad idea bringing the two of them I've never I've
never done a solo mission with the two of them before Culver's did the smash burger before people
called them the smash yeah they kind of did actually that's before it was hip and trendy
to say yeah we have a smash burger that's what Culver's made yeah you're right I never really
thought about that so I I'm not relevant to this story oh kind of Culver's is nice so I made the
journey I took him there and I took them there, and I was,
I couldn't say I was 100% enjoying my meal because I was just waiting for it to backfire on me
at any moment.
Yep.
But it worked beautifully.
They all, my son ate about as good
as he ever eats in a restaurant.
Yep.
My little girl, she was in her little car seat,
and I just rocked it.
She'd make a peep, I'd start rocking it,
and she'd be right back to good.
Yep.
And then we, I did not know this.
I did not know this.
The Culver's Happy Meal, their kid's meal,
has on the bag a little thing that you rip off,
and it's good for a free ice cream.
Did not know that.
You mean, I believe you mean custard.
Custard, of course, yes.
And so got that going, had the ice cream, the custard.
It was all good.
We packed everyone up.
Everyone was in a great mood.
We left and I kind of felt like I got away with something there.
It is a satisfying feeling though.
Oh, even there was like, I can do anything.
There was an older lady and she goes, wow, you're doing so good at this.
And I'm like, yeah, I know what I'm doing.
That is a really awesome feeling though.
Oh yeah.
So now that I did that one, that probably means that will never happen again.
Well, there is a weird phenomenon. I don't know why I can't say that word but i that's like two episodes in a
row that i catch myself that not coming out right but there's something weird that goes on where
kids when they're just with dad oh when mom's not there a lot of times be way better a hundred
percent all the time a hundred percent yeah when moms, they go into baby mode and like, oh, mom, help.
And then it's just like they get helpless all of a sudden.
But what I've found is when you come back from, you know, what we'll do,
I'll take all three kids out to McDonald's, just me and them,
and we'll go there and do the whole thing.
And like turn it into it, like going to McDonald's is the like event.
Yes.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
It's like, oh, we get to eat in the restaurant because we never eat in restaurants like ever so it's like that's exciting that we get to go sit inside
of a mcdonald's and i'm like yeah this kind of sucks but like you think it's fun so i won't i
won't i'm not gonna i'm not gonna spoil this for you it's not very much fun in mcdonald's you'll
get it someday but for right now we'll pretend it's fun to be when you wake up and you get what's
going on yeah but when you get home that's not when you say it's a lot of pretend it's fun to be at McDonald's. When you wake up and you get what's going on. Yeah, but when you get home, that's not when you say,
a lot of times it's not the right time to say,
oh, the kids were awesome for me.
There was not a single whine.
Like everyone is so easy.
You go, oh, we made it through it.
I still like to be kind of cocky.
I still get enough satisfaction.
I don't like being cocky about it. I still get enough satisfaction. I don't like to be cocky about it.
I aced that test.
Everyone's good for dad.
Oh, you think you're so good at it?
Why don't you just do it more?
It's a slippery slope.
It is a rewarding experience, though.
It is.
Everyone was happy.
We didn't have to leave with anyone crying, throwing a fit.
It's best when you're not on a time crunch if
you've got a good amount of time because then you're like yeah yeah well sure you want to sit
here and twiddle your thumbs for a while like we'll twiddle our thumbs forever until we're all
on the table yeah yes climb under the bent the booth sure yeah you do it all man get filthy
hang on the garbage can for some reason okay yeah why not do it all um we've got quite a few other things this week too don't we
we do we had several things on the list let's see well should we you know we had chad here last
week oh yeah should we should we give our our round up on chad we the last episode so it wasn't
where we left everyone off was we were just
finished recording the podcast and we're about to head to the gym for a training session and
turns out he's a terrible person and he's no fun to be around yeah we kicked him out we said you
get your ass on the next flight back to uh wherever the hell you came from yes yes no it was awesome
uh it was i think probably everything we expected and then a little more even yeah it was really uh
it was uh from our point of you know not to put words in his mouth but from for us I think it was
awesome and just so much fun and such a cool experience and like training in the gym you know
there's a big crew that came uh your brother hit a big deadlift pr you know he pulled 680
and Chad was there cheering him on and we had like five six other guys besides all of us in
the gym that all came to train for this little I don't know like an informal meet and greet with
Chad kind of almost it's sort of like our little juggernaut meetup honestly right right because
most of the people there were using juggernauts yeah and Chad went for a uh you know he worked
up to a conventional deadlift in like four years didn't he say something like that yeah and he
worked up to a 625 deadlift, I think.
And we were, you know, it was just fun.
We're just cheering him on like we're cheering everyone else on.
It was really funny.
Ryan does a 680 and he sees Chad deadlift.
And he's like, now, Chad, do not do 685.
Do not do it.
He's like, I promise you I will not do that much.
And they both have, you know, Ryan has his mock meet coming up soon.
And Chad's going gonna do garage gym
competition and uh ryan's going for 700 and chad made the comment that you know things go well
he's going for 705 so there is a little bit of a there's a little bit of a chad flying ryan
deadlift rivalry going on right now yeah the rivalry we all wanted we'll see how the how
everything shakes out on that one yeah Yeah, I'm excited for that.
But, yeah, we got to have a good lift.
That was a lot of fun.
We got to run them through Taco John's.
Yeah, we did hit up the taco.
After the lift, we got our post-workout.
Yeah, that fresh taste of Tex-Mex.
What do you think was their reception of Taco John's?
They're probably like, well, they're like, this is Del Taco.
Yeah, yeah.
Which is just fast food tacos.
But we got them to, they olayed the day.
They did.
They did olay the day.
They even got the nacho cheese the day too.
Lived moss.
Is that Taco John's?
No, they nachos navidaded.
Yeah, yeah.
Nachos navidaded.
Not here yet, unfortunately, for them and us.
Not quite that time of the year.
Yeah.
So we got to do that, and then we got to hit up the town a little bit.
Have some more beers with Chad.
We got quite a few drinks with Chad, actually.
Yeah, mixed drinks with Chad.
We got all the inside scoop on just years of lifting experience.
I think the phrase, you know, we're in the inner circle of trust,
was thrown out multiple times.
So unfortunately, we can't share it all because a lot of it was within the walls.
There was a non-disclosure agreement.
But just, I don't know, just a lot of fun.
He's experienced a lot of things in the strength
industry yeah it's a it's an industry that from where we're located we're a little bit outside of
it mostly kind of looking in you know it's uh but he's a guy that's been living in the industry for
a long time now and has seen a lot of things so there's a ton of things that we observed from afar
and he experienced firsthand so it's always really interesting getting his perspective on how things went down.
And even from like our own personal business standpoint,
like it's really great getting to hang, you know,
spend a few days with him and bounce things off of him.
And, you know, he's a guy who we respect his opinion on things.
So it's valuable for us to get to have that time with him.
It's pretty sweet.
Yeah.
Trying to think of,
well,
and then even when we went out to one of the bars,
we had a few more guys even show up too.
At one point there was just guys from the gym showing up every five minutes.
Just lying enough to get one guy comes up.
Then another goes by.
Then another guy comes up and then he leaves. Then guy comes up it was just like this endless endless line jake had it planned
out that he was going to come in and be like like act like he doesn't know us and be like
holy shit are you chad wesley smith and he was like yeah i am and then it's like ah i just get
that was funny yeah good stuff it was a really good trip so got got him back to the airport in time no no lifts or
ubers available lifts don't exist in aberdeen during the airport time so tanner had to get
up at five in the morning i saw the message come through it said well i was at night you said if
you guys need a ride in the morning let me know and i'll take you to the airport yeah and then
yeah was it about 5 5 30 yeah hey tanner can It was, hey, Tanner, can't find a lift. And I just, I was awake at that second for some reason.
And I was just thinking, God, please, Tanner, answer in the next one minute
because I do not want to have to drive them there.
Not that it's that far, but it's a little farther for me too.
And it's early.
Yeah, it is.
And I'm just thinking, oh, please, Tanner.
And then, yep, it was like instantly you said, okay, yep, I'll be there in a minute.
And I dropped them off and it was perfect timing because they were just like people were lining up to do the uh security there
so a lot of fun i guess now we just got to decide who is going to be next who's going to be next on
our hit list could be anyway i have to start the vetting process now it takes us about four years
to decide yeah it could be dan bell would be a popular choice you know coke he said he's just
gonna drive himself coke he's to get me here travel a lot easier i guess uh kind of takes
our limo out of the equation we have to think of something else to do for we can just tell him to
park his car at the uh at the gas station at bath and then drive him into town so he feels like he
gets the real experience you know yeah yeah that's what we would probably have to do be like park
your shit park the shit box get in the limo you're not allowed to drive into this town yeah
what do we think about a little uh supporting our supporting members let's do it and i would say
we do have to do we do have a has he seen it segment okay but we might have to save that for post guess oh it's a little teaser for uh we're gonna
today it's going to be 1992 has he seen it when did we we started 90 yeah okay yeah yep uh but
first supporting our supporting members uh new supporting member fresh off the boat big eric
was just uh made the trip to the mecca last night to to train at Massanomics Gym.
Big Eric, recent supporting member, friend of Big Eddie, I think co-worker of Big Eddie even.
And he came and he was training last night.
He's got meat coming up and he's looking to bench, I think, 440 solid ass pounds.
And it is once you see Big Eric, you understand why he's got a big upper body
on him so he was in there training and larry legend was in there with him and i you know i
after talking to big eric for a little bit i got i understood that he's listening to the podcast
for a while and we'd already talked to larry and i then i go like this is five ten minutes into it
and i go i said this is larry like i don't know if you know but this is larry legend he goes i was wondering if this is who it was you know so he he knew it then but um so that was funny uh big matt i see
it's popping up oh there's big eric's in in here even he's in our live this week uh big matt
competed this last weekend i don't think he had the meat he wanted, but how often do any of us want?
Anyways, I've only had like one of those really, but real realistically, he still had a solid
numbers.
He totaled, I think almost 1400 pounds.
And I still think there's always something to competing too, because, uh, you know, there's
a lot of people, it's the man in the arena sort of thing.
Absolutely.
too because uh you know there's a lot of people it's the man in the arena sort of thing absolutely then uh last one on supporting our supporting members uh big jordan was competing in strongman
corp uh canada nationals um i'm not exactly sure what place he got but there again still he's out
there competing in nationals so and he's a supporting member so you can't ask for much
more than that nope checking all the boxes so thank he's a supporting member so you can't ask for much more than that nope checking
all the boxes so thank you supporting our supporting members those again are uh people
that choose to support the massonomics podcast and then we give back to them each week uh through
things like this segment so if you'd like to help us out support us uh maybe you don't feel like
buying our brand new hoodie and our brand new t-shirt, but you're like, I'd still like to show my support to those guys.
A great idea, number one A-OK idea would be to hop on our website and sign up to become a supporting member.
We'd love to have you.

After, okay.
Everyone's been warned here.
And as long as we were talking about Chad,
I wanted to mention Juggernaut AI.
No trick this time.
I'm actually going to mention Juggernaut AI.
For the misdirection.
Yeah, Juggernaut AI. We just uh like everything we said about chad we also had a ton of juggernaut
ai conversation over the over the weekend and we got to hash out a lot of things ideas uh things
that are coming up new with the the app and uh i'm excited about where the app is headed and i'm glad
that we both use it yeah there's some really I would actually say fun
features outside of lifting that are coming to it it's going to be some really cool things and if
you go to the website which is juggernautai.app make sure to sign up through the website not
through the app not through the app store sign up through the website because that's where you can
use discount code Mastonomics that'll save you 10% on the lifetime of your membership and when
you use that it brings the price down to just about, that's about 30 bucks a month, which for what you're
getting is a really good value. Absolutely. I think as far as coaching goes, it's one of the
best values that exists. There's cheaper ones, but you're getting a spreadsheet. It's absolutely,
let's be real here. Yes. And part of what we like is how it's not a spreadsheet,
how it adapts to you over time and how it adapts to you from set to set,
even on just one individual day.
It's changing as you're going,
depending on the feedback you're giving.
So get signed up for Juggernaut AI.
Thank you, Juggernaut.

halloween tommy are you going to be dressing up for Halloween this year? Oh, maybe we'll see.
Are you going to be dressing up for Halloween?
I guess I don't really have anything handy.
I don't either.
I think we might be going to a haunted house.
There is a costume.
Oh, this episode comes out.
I was thinking, I was thinking we will be recording next week on Halloween.
No, we had to have an on-air costume.
No, no, no.
We should have done that.
We do have an on-air costume.
It's our new hoodie.
It's our new, yeah.
Yeah, we're going as people that just bought new hoodies
in our brand new drop.
Yeah.
We're going as co-owners of an online apparel company
that only a select few people know about.
It's a very specific costume.
Very obscure, specific costume.
it's a very specific costume very obscure specific costume uh i was thinking uh i don't have what i with you know we have our jorts that we collabed with on born primitive
where we changed the jort game forever probably the first jorts to ever be released ever in the
history of the world and i if i still had a uh a bench in 315 t i would go as stone cold
yep but i gave my bench in 315 t away to someone that really wanted one like a year or two ago i
have mine in my closet so yours wouldn't fit me so that doesn't do me very good because i think
mine's even a large it's even kind of tight on me yeah i've been benching 315 too much but if i had
a bench in 315 t i would you, that would be a pretty good stone cold.
You could just get knee braces and people might think.
The bench in 315T would help a lot though.
It would.
And then plus I'm also marketing to everyone.
True.
Yeah.
Most people would just think.
Maybe that's what I'll wear is I'll get the camel lift hat.
That's what,
yeah,
that would be the other thing.
Throw on the camel hat.
I'll put my born primitive shorts on and I'll wear my Bench in 315 shirt.
It's a pretty solid.
I like that.
Easy.
And it's all massonomics.
Yeah, that's the massonomics.
That's the easiest massonomics costume ever.
Horizontal integration.
I like that.
From Big Jeff.
Should we kick off the Discord?
Yep, they're out of here.
We'll get Big Jesus on the line.
I've had enough.
Bye, Discord.
See you, Discord.
Suckers.
Okay.
Well, should we see if Big Jesus is available for a little chatting?
Let's do it.
Let's chat them up. Let's do it.
Maybe. Maybe we're actually not ready.
Hello?
Big Jesus, is that you?
It is indeed.
Excellent.
This is Tanner and Tommy.
How's it going?
What's up, Jesus?
Hey, what's up, guys? It's going pretty good, man.
Was just eating some chicken just now when you guys were calling me.
That's the reason for my slight delay. But besides that, things are going really well.
We hate to get in between a man and his chicken, but we got important stuff to do here.
So it'll be worth it.
do here so it'll be worth it uh so for anyone that's listening along we got big jesus alavarez is that am i saying am i saying pronouncing your name correctly uh yeah man you're i feel like
you're saying it as good as you can it's good tanner gets a yeah just tanner getting even
closest yeah like we're're like we live in
you know we call it western northeast South Dakota
we live in northeast South Dakota
and like everyone that has
names of different origins
that's the best that's I do my best
it's just not very good sometimes
no it was pretty solid
man it was pretty solid
I'm taking that to the I'm going to keep
I'm going to cut out that clip and save it and know that i did a pretty good job
uh no we're excited to get you on we've uh you've been on our radar for quite a while
obviously been on everyone's radar that's into into power lifting for several years now um
you're kind of crushing it, putting up huge numbers.
We've got several questions to ask you about.
First, I guess, would you give a little background about,
for someone that's maybe new to you,
that we've got some listeners that maybe don't know who Jesus is, how would you explain yourself?
Yeah, sure.
So, I mean, obviously, my name is Jesus Olivares.
I'm from Odessa, Texas. Oh, I mean, obviously my name is Jesus. I'm from Texas.
So I'm from, uh, some small town out in West Texas. It's an awful town. Um,
for a bunch of like football fanatics and be familiar with Fred and I lights.
Oh yeah. That's, uh, that's where I grew up, played ball at, um,
uh yep that's where i grew up played ball at um did a little bit of collegiate sports uh collegiate football collegiate track and field and then unfortunately oh i guess i can
at this point in my life i can say it was fortunate for me that i had like some injuries kind of
pull me away from that scene and i'm a a very competitive person, so I needed to find an avenue
to invest this competitive energy into.
So it's just like powerlifting was something that I did in high school.
In junior high, it was like my third sport of the year,
so not really my priority.
But I didn't really know that powerlifting was as developed as it is when I started.
I thought I was like – I didn't even know there was like grown men that did this
when I was like looking into it after I was done playing sports.
But, I mean, I found powerlifting.
Started looking at like Russell Warhe,, Joseph Franzo, my coach,
like, Amanda, like, Noriega, like, Ray Williams, Dan Bell,
a bunch of, like, these people when, like, it just kind of worked me into it.
I didn't think I was going to be as good as I am now, as fast as I was.
I will admit I did think it was going to take me,
like I had everything planned out. Like I was like, okay, I had like a little five-year plan, you know, but obviously like I'm very blessed. I'm going to give the thanks to God for
allowing me to get here at this point, you know, keeping me healthy, just giving me my gifts and
my heart and my mindset. But i think that's like a quick
little overview you know like yeah that's that's really good and i think are you 23 years old
no i'm 24 i turned 24 in june okay yeah i i know it says 23 because the way that it works it's like
it takes your year your age at the beginning of the season or year, whatever you want to call it. So that's why a lot of people are,
I mean, I don't think it's like a big confusion
just because like that's how it works.
So like technically like this is my last year as a junior.
Okay.
And you talked about how you had
that high school powerlifting background,
which seems to be, you know,
from people we've talked to,
that's a big deal in Texas.
You know, in a lot of places, it's not as big of a deal as that but it's weird like uh like your
first meets where you were probably like 13 14 years old then when you were first doing power
lifting meets then right uh yes sir i was 13 um as a freshman so that was no 14 actually
so that was like the first time that i had like a
a real high school powerlifting experience so even then were you like for a 13 year old were
you strong then even um i think i was just because the first time i hit 405 was when i was 13. so
i was already squatting like over 500 pounds when I was 14. But obviously,
like when you're when you're competing, like you're competing against upperclassmen. So that's
really where my attention was. So I my first instinct was to say no, I wasn't. Because at the
time, I think the best I placed at regionals was 10th. I got last place in my weight class.
But I guess for like, the grand scheme of things,
I guess you could say I was a little bit more developed, um, as far as like, I guess my
strength, but, uh, yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, and it is kind of, so is that, is that single ply?
Like, did you wear stuff like that?
I know like high school, a lot of times I think it's like considered single ply, but
did you wear any of that i know like high school a lot of times i think it's like considered single ply but did you wear any of that stuff i i did actually but the thing was so like with permian
like all they care about is football yeah so the booster clubs like all the financial stuff it
literally football takes first priority and then you obviously have like the female sports like
volleyball softball and then like track, baseball.
And so powerlifting is at the very bottom.
So our single-ply suits were like these old – I'm pretty sure you guys have heard stories of like the suits that, you know,
like Ed Cohn used to wear and like Gene Bell.
Like they're essentially like what Titan seat lifts are today.
And that's what we had at permian just because
they didn't give like two craps about what we used to compete like i remember vividly like my
position coach was our powerlifting coach and he would be like hey shoes like i want you to win
but just remember your first and foremost you're a football player not a powerlifter so i was okay
whatever right so we did use single ply suits but it was like the
cheapest material they could get us i think they were saying that like our suits were like 60 bucks
um we never practiced in them like never our like technical like power lifting workouts where
our off-season football workouts so we never like practiced
um squatting in a suit with wraps up until it was time to actually compete
so like at the time like i didn't really understand just how
like i was i obviously wasn't as knowledgeable back then because i was just like
predominantly a football player like that was my bread and butter. So all I knew was I want to win.
I want to do as good as I can.
So we're just going to like put the suits on because it's like the rules or whatever.
And then that was all we – that's just literally how we did.
Like we would do our football practice, like our football conditioning,
football lifting, and then come Saturday we would show up at school at 3 or 4 in the morning and then that would be like our football conditioning, football lifting. And then come Saturday, we would show up at school at 3 or 4 in the morning,
and then that would be like our first time wearing the suits and the wraps.
So it was pretty crazy.
Now fast forward, and you're squatting 1,000 pounds, deadlifting 900 pounds,
and benching like 600 pounds just a few years later.
Yeah, man.
So I don't even know. I honestly don't even know how we got here man
uh uh so you you obviously are insanely strong now you have the third uh regardless of uh
federation or anything like that the third highest total in knee sleeves ever only uh ray and dan have
yeah that's counting tested and untested.
Yeah, tested, untested, any federation, anything,
anyone in sleeves, any weight classes,
all that, you're third all time
already.
What would be a
bigger deal to you now? To hit
a thousand
pound plus squat in competition
or to
beat Ray's total? First, it would be to beat Ray's total first it would be to be raised total
um just because obviously like in the sport to be at the best like people in my position like
lifters of my caliber like they will agree with me that it is the most important thing it's literally
what gets you the win is your total so like the So, like, the total, even if I only squat
two and a half keys more than what I did at PA Nationals last year at my next
meet, you know, as long as it's what I need to break the record,
just because performances like that, what's difficult about them
is they almost have to be perfect. Just because, like,
the trick is, and i think a lot of
people get this twisted where it's like it's the hard part is doing it on the same day
on the same platform because you have to think like okay like yeah i can hit a thousand pounds
on a monday but am i gonna have enough juice left to pull 900 after that?
You know, so it's about, it's about pretty much increasing your work capacity to where
you can essentially kick these numbers submaximal, submaximally enough to where you can actually
piece it all together.
Like that is what I think makes historical performances so
like inspiring is because like for people who are really like in it you
know like okay like you can have a squat pilar one meet but you're you know you
might have grip issues like down the road like whether you're bloating your
swelling like something something can go wrong at any point in time so I just
feel like I think the total is more indicative of just like
the performance that you have in the day obviously because it's the kind of cue of all three lives
um because i feel like anyone can just have the mindset of like oh i'm gonna hit this one good
lift and they're gonna hit it but then like they're gonna be mentally checked out for the
remainder six lifts.
That's not what this sport's about.
This sport's about who can have
the best total on the day.
I just want to go out there.
For me, it would be the total.
I want to break Ray's total
and Dan's total.
Even if that would be at the sacrifice of
hitting a single lift
milestone,
then I would obviously make that tradeoff.
Yeah, seems like the smart choice.
Over that period of time when you've gotten to these big totals,
you've gotten huge. We were talking about it before even.
Your shoulders and back and everything and chest,
you're just a mass
monster now um what about like your body weight now do you need to get heavier to be able to lift
more or like do you not really care where your body's body weight's at it's just about uh getting
stronger and you know if your training gets you there if you gain weight you do you do or do you
feel like you need to?
Or how does that work now that you're at the level you're at?
So for me, it's not necessarily about the number.
It's on the scale.
It's about my body composition and my leverages.
For me, it's because I eat very cleanly. I'm very fortunate to have my girlfriend, Saria.
She pretty much handles
a lot of like the cooking in the kid like she makes sure that like my macros are good
she makes sure that what what's coming into my body like it's gonna like it's it's what i need
you know we i really try to limit the amount of like fast food that i eat throughout the week
um stuff like that like that is i think something that I've kind of learned my lesson,
especially going into my first nationals.
Like, that was something that's always kind of stuck with me is, like,
it's very – I know, like, obviously some people, though,
call the super heavy as, like, the unlimited weight class,
but that is a trap for most people.
Like, there is a reason let's see excuse me there is
a reason why you'll see a bunch of supers squatting over nine benching over five close to six or over
six but then when you get to their deadlifts it's like hey dude your third is what some of these ladder guys are opening up with. So it is a very careful balance of just watching what I eat, you know,
because if I let myself go, then my deadlift is going to take the biggest hit.
And that's something that I feel like to accomplish what I want to.
I can't let that slide, you know,
something I have to stay on top of and just monitor very closely. So yeah, I haven't weighed myself in a
while, but just based off how my deadlifts have been feeling and how my grip has been feeling,
I feel, I can just tell that I'm in a really good place right now. I don't think I've gained too
much weight, but I do know that like i gain weight
pretty quickly and like really easily as long as i'm eating enough and like training heavy enough
like my body just naturally wants to grow so it is like actually like right now like i am
like kind of in a bit of a deficit just because obviously now with like how docs is and like a
bunch of the other usap guys like they're a lot lighterots is and like a bunch of the other USAPO guys,
like they're a lot lighter.
So they do have a bit of an advantage.
So like that's something I keep an eye on too.
It's like Dots rating and stuff like that.
And I feel like right now I could probably lose
around like 20 pounds of body weight
without it really affecting my total.
I feel like if I lose more than 20 pounds,
that's when I'll start taking a hit.
But yeah, no, man. I definitely am not one of those supers who just likes to eat whatever,
whenever. I feel like you can't really afford to be like that anymore. I feel like if anybody else
wants to get competitive with me, that's something that they're going to have to do as well. It's
just the nature of the sport, man. It's like like how many x's and l's can you cross to get
to where you want to be so like what does like roughly like a day of eating look like for you
i think you'd be surprised because i i feel like when i'll have people eat with me and stuff they'll
like be surprised i'll be like oh like i thought you would eat
more but i think this idea came from like watching all these strong men watching brian shaw youtube
videos yeah so like i i actually have a source who told me personally that these eating videos
are like a bunch of baloney like they only yeah they only eat that much for videos for like
clout you know just to get some publicity so like these 10 000 calorie days probably more like
six to eight i would say yeah but um i think for me i think right now i'm probably eating around
it really ranges because on my rest days my appetite is not really as big as it would be
like on a day where i just got done squatting or dead lifting so my calories really vary like the
only thing that i really track is like my protein it's just how many grams of protein am i eating
it's like really a bunch of filster but i mean like my girlfriend would know more about that
than me she handles all that i would you know she's just been such a good help actually more than a good help
it's it's just been a blessing but um i just had a brain fart man just had a brain fart
that sounds like you need to uh put a ring on it
not at all, man.
She would agree.
I agree with you guys too.
When you break, you pull that 900 pound deadlift and it breaks the
2,500 pound total. Is that when you're going to
make the move?
Pop the big one?
I'll just
have somebody in the stands
with the box and as soon as
the judge gives me the down command I will just be like
throw it to me
yeah
have the judge have it
and then like they got to do an equipment check
like look at your belt and like they slip it to you
maybe the IPF world judges won't be in on that
but
I don't know about those guys, man.
Those guys are their own people, man.
That's all I got to say about that.
Yeah, yeah.
Bonica we had on a little while ago, and she had some opinions on some of
this stuff too.
But, you know, you said you eat pretty clean, you know, probably don't eat
out that much and stuff.
But if you did, we do always like to talk food.
If you were to go out and get some fast food, what would be your menu item of choice from what place?
That's a hard question because I'm not really a picky eater, man.
I could eat the same thing every day or I could eat something different every day.
It just really depends.
I'm not really like – but I guess we'll just go off how I'm feeling today.
Does it have to be fast food?
No, whatever you're into.
We're always curious what
people like yeah okay i guess you could say like all you can eat sushi yeah just because like when
i am gonna give myself a little bit of um just be a little bit more lenient i guess you could say
like i would go with all you can eat sushi just because like you like for people like for me and my family and guys we've learned to this might sound a little bad but it's like we just try to get
it's and essentially we try to eat what we pay for and if we can give the restaurant a net loss
you're gonna win yeah yeah yeah that sort of thing so it's like if we're gonna go out to eat and like spend a
decent amount of cash you know like it might as well be worth somewhere that you're gonna enjoy
like actually like eat your i guess like your money's worth in food yeah so like all you can
eat sushi is all you can eat sushi like a big thing in texas because i didn't know that existed
until one of our friends big james he lives inack, he lives in Texas and he's always doing
all-you-can-eat sushi. I'd never heard of it before him.
I didn't hear about it until 2021
USAPL Nationals in Daytona. To this day,
me and my girlfriend will agree that that's probably the best
all-you-can-eat sushi place
and it's called Sushi King and it's in Daytona that was my first experience eating like that kind
of like I've never I don't even know it existed until that point right just because like you
would think like if you go to any other sushi restaurant, that's not all you can eat.
Sushi is very expensive because it adds up.
Right.
So all you can eat, like it just doesn't make sense when you think about it.
But they exist.
So they told me that was their first experience.
We actually ended up going twice that week in the short time that we were there
and when we came back home i just remember like me and my girlfriend like her name is sharia
we were just kind of like thinking about it more like man like we made a sushi king
and we were like well we live in san antonio san antonio is kind of a
biggish city you know i think it's like top 15 biggest city in the states so we were like there
has to be at least one in town excuse me so then that's just kind of how we started like
and it just kind of became like one of our staples just because like for me
when i need to eat like a good amount of rice and like a good amount of protein, like it's just, it's kind of a hard place to pass up, you know?
And like, obviously like sushi is one of like,
I think one of the worlds, like, I think if you put like a poll worldwide,
I think sushi would be like a top 10 food across the world.
So it's just a very popular thing, you know? And it's just, it's just good.
You can't really go wrong with sushi.
Yeah. We're kind of sheltered in South Dakota.
Not a lot of great sushi establishments here.
It's hard to come by.
It's got a few and far between.
Man, I believe it, man.
I've never been to South Dakota, but I've never been that far up north in the state.
Well, that's a lie because if you guys were to have, like, parallel lines across the states,
like, would you guys be, like, on the same parallel lines across the states,
would you guys be on the same parallel line that New York is?
That's the furthest north.
I think we're actually higher, probably.
Probably a little higher.
That's crazy.
It gets super cold up here.
You might not like it if you've lived in Texas
your whole life. You might not like negative 30
very well.
I like the cold, but I got to limit it.
I like the cold, but I think too cold is not for me.
No.
Speaking of food, we have this,
we talk about it on almost every episode at this point in time.
It's a place called Taco John's.
It's a little bit Midwestern.
Have you ever heard of it?
I know they don't have any that far south,
but just curious if you've ever come across it before.
No, man, not at all. I've never heard of Taco John's know they don't have any that far south, but just curious if you've ever come across it before. No, man.
I've never heard of Taco John's.
Mark it down. It would be on a must
stop. The taste of the Midwest.
Do you suppose in Ohio they have
Taco John's? I don't think they're that far east.
It wouldn't do you any good there if you're ever competing
there at the Arnold or something.
Just keep it in mind.
We'd like to get your take on it someday.
I don't know.
I'll definitely try to remember that.
Okay.
So when the USAPL IPF thing happened,
you went to IPF and you've been there,
you know, won IPF Worlds here this year.
Can you ever see a scenario where you're competing in a federation
other than the IPF, or do you think you'll just always stay there?
No, 100%, just because right now with the way that things are,
like, because I'm a coach.
Like, I coach under my coach, Joey Flex,
and it just kind of puts, like, me and, like, Mikey,
like, our other athletes, such as our coach competing in the IPF,
it makes it very, very frustrating when they have rules in place
that literally put us at risk of a suspension or a ban
just to go handle and coach our athletes.
That, for me, is kind of a bit of a heartbreaker just because
like for me I want my people to have confidence in me like if they get a bad call like he's just
gonna go bitch out the ref like I want them to have the utmost confidence in me because like
that's how I look at Joey you know like that's just how I look at as being a coach so I can
definitely see the possibility of me maybe switching over
or switching back, you could say, in, like, the next year or two.
Obviously right now it's, you know, we're still waiting on the IPF
to release the SBD wildcard invitations.
You know, like, that's kind of been the big motivator to staying on this route,
you know, because obviously like the cash price is the biggest cash price that's ever been.
So you're talking about the Sheffield then? Is that what, uh, is that?
Yes, sir. Yeah.
So you're, are you not already invited to that or what? Like, uh, or.
I haven't, I have not received.
Why would, in what world would you not be invited to that? I don't understand.
I mean, obviously, I think we can say that if you look at the numbers,
I have a higher percentage and likeliness of receiving an invitation.
But as far as receiving an official one or any news of potentially receiving one,
we're still waiting on that.
I did hear that I think maybe January, around three months out,
is when they're going to start posting and doing the whole thing
as far as with the media.
So we're just going to be waiting for that.
That's just an opportunity.
It's the first Sheffield.
It's the first Sheffield.
It's just an opportunity. It's the first Sheffield. It's the first Sheffield. It's just a silly thought.
This guy that has this
great chance of
setting the biggest total of all time.
Who's behind the scenes debating
this right now?
I'm not sure if he makes the cut.
Even if they're
limited at the arbitrary number of 50, who would're like, oh, they limited it at, let's say,
the pick an arbitrary number of 50.
Who would be like, no, we can't make room for 51?
That would be so dumb.
Right, right.
I mean, I'm not going to disagree with you guys.
But if there's anything life has taught me is nothing is ever guaranteed
until you either have it in paper, it's written in stone,
or it's concluded. So, I mean like it's it's like it's concluded
concluded so i mean we can like debate here all day and like criticize and ridicule but until
it's official it's not official so that's just my take on it yeah for sure uh then uh something else
in a lot of your videos or some of your videos some of your bigger lifts you wear some of the
different world's strongest man t-shirts uh how into strongman are you and is could you see yourself
ever uh taking up strongman at some point in time uh this might be i mean i i really like strongman
just because it is what got me into strength sports. It's kind of what got me back into, like, this part of the world
just because I remember, like, whenever I was getting back into the gym,
I made, like, a New Year's resolution where I told myself
I was either going to do one strongman competition
or one powerlifting competition before the end of the year.
And, like, obviously, I kind of ended up going powerlifting
because it's very difficult to be a competitive strongman if you don't have access to, like, the implements that you need, like the stones, farmer's walk, stuff like that, like, I think the closest city that had any sort of strongman
stuff was like two hours away where I was living at the time. And that was just not a feasible
option for me. Like it was impossible. Like I didn't really have like the finances for it. Like
I didn't really have the time for it, but for powerlifting, if you're getting started, like
you could do that anywhere.
You can go to some regular commercial gym as long as you have a bench, a bar, a squat rack, and plates in a platform.
That's all you need.
It's a bare minimum sport that anyone can get into.
So that's kind of what veered me into powerlifting.
It was just like locale, you know, accessibility, like what I had access to.
But now, you know, like gaining the knowledge that I am and like being a very strong advocate
for like natural performance athletes
and stuff like that.
You know, I've learned
that a bunch of the competitive strongmen
are like on PEDs, you know?
And for me, I don't, like, pds you know and for me i don't like i don't know
how good i can i might try it you know just because not not like pds but like strongman
right just because i feel like i've garnered enough static strength to you know maybe be a
little bit competitive because i feel like that's what takes the longest for guys who want to be at the top level.
It takes a while to build that static strength and the mass, which are two things that I already have.
But a lot of things that people don't take into is conditioning.
They might not.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's just like how conditioned could i really get my
body naturally at this body weight like how much you know there's just a bunch of different like
factors that go into the equation of potentially going down that route as well as injuries you
know one thing that i love about powerlifting is it's very uh manageable as far as like injury prevention and stuff like that but with pop
strongman like i literally went on a dinner with uh jerry pritchett a couple weeks ago like i was
doing like a photo shoot with spd and i had like the opportunity of you know breaking bread with
him picking his brain a little bit like he's obviously a well-established strongman you know
thousand pound deadlifter i think he's pulled a well-established strongman, you know, thousand pound deadlifter. I think he's pulled it like raw,
like with no suit straps,
you know,
like that's a feat that a lot of people nowadays don't really know the
difference between like deadlift suits and no deadlift suits.
Yeah.
And,
uh,
he made a joke that strongman popping a bicep is like a rite of passage and i was just like man
that's not so fun yeah i don't want that i don't want it i don't want it you know so it's like
i mean if i ever did i think it would be one like it would just really be more for fun and then
because like i definitely like don't want to go down that route where i'm kind of like
feeling the pressure and the stress to you know potentially hop on pbs just because
like i don't ever want to do that in my life like i don't see there any reason to so it's like
and like especially when you realize like where these guys started naturally and, like, where they are now, like, post-enhancement, it kind of ruins the – it just becomes, like, an illusion, you know, where it's like, man, like, I'm doing what I'm doing drug-free.
where they started when they were natural to where they are now like it's like night and day and it just kind of makes everything look more like diluted and muddied and stuff like that but
obviously like the population the masses like they're not gonna care like the way they format
strongman like it's very circuit strongman style like it's literally solely for entertainment you
know like that's what a strong man is.
But I mean, like as a strength athlete, like I have a lot of respect for like what these guys do, because even regardless of their personal life choices, like they're still putting the work.
They're still putting in those hours.
Like they're still trying to achieve greatness, you know, like that is commendable.
Like that is something that I can respect as like a man-to-man thing but i mean right now like at first if you asked me like a
year ago i probably would have had a different hand like a different answer but after like i
guess having like another year and a half two years on like this transports world and i just
becoming more knowledgeable about like certain topics and stuff.
It just kind of, my
perspective has changed a little
as far as maybe switching
to Strongman later.
Right on. That makes sense.
Okay. Hey, Zeus, we got this
special game we like to play. We play it with
every guest that we've got on here.
It's called Overrated Underrated.
And what we did was
we handpicked a special set of
topics just for you and we'll
fire them off to you.
And it's just your job to decide if each
topic is overrated or underrated.
And you can
elaborate as much or as little as you'd
like to on that. But you just have to remember
you can't ride the line. You have to
decide at the end if each one's over
rated or underrated. So if you're
ready to play, if you're strapped
in and ready, we'll fire them off at you.
Alright man, I'm ready. Let's do it.
Born ready.
Overrated or underrated?
Godzilla.
That's a tough one. That's good. You guys got me there we're hitting you um we got all the hard-hitting ones for you like godzilla as in the like the like the character or like as in what do you like i
kind of i need some more context here.
That's fair.
Now you're flipping the script on us all of a sudden.
We'll say
Godzilla movie
character.
But we're not picking out necessarily one
movie specifically
that you have to pin down on.
Just him as a monster
as the character.
As a monster as a monster, as the character. Okay, as a monster, as a character.
I think Godzilla is overrated
because for someone who is considered the king of the monsters,
he is getting his butt whooped a lot in the movies.
That's true.
He does have...
They always give him a go at it, don't they?
He always gets in a tough spot.
So are you a big Godzilla fan?
Yeah, man.
I guess I can give a little bit more in depth.
So I'm sure for a lot of you guys who follow me from the beginning,
obviously if you notice the symbolism behind my username.
So at the beginning, it was more of like megatronus right
so obviously that was like a direct homage to like ray williams because his was optimus prime
and at the time like my journey was to surpass it was like to to be at his level and then surpass
right so then once i felt personally that i had done that, then at the time, I think I was starting to watch the new Godzilla movies that were coming out or the new one with Kong.
And what I admire about the way they've illustrated Godzilla is that he is like this force of nature that has this obligation to protect his turf against anybody.
And for people who have kept up with me and like have listened to me, something that I'm really
big on is my goal, you know, because I'm not just after the all-time drug tested world record. I'm
also off to the all-time record. so that includes dan's record and you know
dan has gone down the route of the untested right like he's an amazing lifter he's historically
great but for me full well believing that i have the ability and the potential to do this drug free
i'm going after it you know and i feel like that is kind of what Godzilla embodies. He'll fight either other natural monsters
or he's going to fight some cybernetically enhanced
robot monster.
It doesn't matter.
He has an obligation to pretty much, I guess,
defend the title.
So that is what calling myself Mega Go gojira like on ig and like what i
represent you like i have godzilla tattooed on me you know that is what that represents to me is that
i have an obligation that i have put upon myself like this mantle responsibility
to achieve greatness at this level you know like this standard I've set for myself.
And that is essentially like an all open battle royale town thing where it's
like either I'm competing against other world record,
super heavy world records,
or if it's going to be smaller weight classes with like dots, you know,
like Austin Perkins, you know, like Bob Matthews, Ashton Ruska, Rondell,
you know, like it is because I feel like bob matthews ashton ruska rondell you know like it is
because i feel like a lot of people that they'll just kind of wash it over their heads and oh like
biggest total like it doesn't matter but for me i take it personally you know like especially like
this past year like i have the fourth highest ranked dots in drug testing males but for whatever
reason like these guys want to skip over me and they'll
only talk about like oh like perk will talk about rondell or rondell only talk about bob and ash
and i'm just like dudes i'm literally here rank number four like i know it's like different
federations but to me like it still matters like when you just put on the open power list and you
put drug tested and then you put dots like like my name is on that
list so i do take it a little personal but i feel like it's gonna keep you know it's just a part of
who i am you know like my whole life like whenever i was playing football like whenever i was throwing
track and field you know like i'm just a very competitive person and I feel like the term best in today's day and age, just like GOAT has become a very subjective term tossed around, you know.
Not even subjective, just totally watered down.
Yeah, totally watered down, you know.
So like for me, I'm trying to establish a clear-cut, undeniable standard, you know.
And like I feel like for me, it's not just having the biggest total.
It's also having the best score, you know, regardless of score system.
Like that is when you know you are completely and utterly dominant, you know.
Like whatever score system you want to use, like if you want to go back to Wilks,
if you want to use Dodds, if you want to use whatever the hell, you know like whatever score system you want to use like if you want to go back to Wilks if you want to use dots if you want to use whatever the hell you know so like that is to me
what being completely and utterly and undeniably dominant signifies which is what you know Godzilla
represents you know it's like he doesn't care like where you're from what you look like if you're from, what you look like, if you're going to try to step on this turf,
like, okay, let's roll.
So that's kind of the ideal,
like the ideology that I kind of have behind it.
I got to give you props.
I was just expecting you to say,
I liked Godzilla growing up.
So that was way deeper than that.
That's good.
Okay, and the next one, overrated, underrated.
You're actually kind of hitting on it right there
but we'll make it put an answer to
it overrated or underrated
dots
I think dots is
underrated
just because I feel like
it's
kind of providing
a more level
playing field.
Like I know that I have to hit ridiculous numbers to be in these
conversations, you know, but I wouldn't have it any other way,
to be honest.
Like I would rather have that pressure of I need to continuously
progress and continue to like just do these absurd things that
it's never been done before to be in these conversations you know um I feel like dogs
has probably been the best formula even though I think it does put me at a bit of a disadvantage
you know like I don't like that just like how i
said earlier like it just comes with the territory you know like i've never really been one to
complain or gripe about however they're scoring things like if i have to do it with ipf good
points i'm like that one hurts me the most like it hurts me the absolute most you know that ranks me the lowest
like so be it you know like if i have to hit 2700 pound total to win then you know it might be
impossible but who like i would it wouldn't be me to shy away from it you know like that's not who
i am like that's not how i was brought up That's not the expectations that my loved ones have for me.
I'll say
it's underrated just because of
how accurate it is.
Okay.
I won't say accurate, but I'll just say it's underrated.
Okay. Alright, this next one's
a good one. Overrated or underrated
John Hack?
I feel like John is the most
mid, like the most lying.
It's like so middle.
But you can't ride the line,
remember?
That's what makes it a good one.
I wish I could have met him in person
and had a conversation with him
before,
like giving this opinion.
But,
uh,
John,
I mean,
I guess you have to go with overrated just because he's not underage.
Right.
Sometimes that is the logic behind overrated underrated yeah that's uh
that's a fair term yeah this is and this is my reasoning i think john is overrated because he's
so great and um so many people think they can't beat him but nobody is impossible to be even like i'll throw myself in there like
you know so it's just about like having the right opportunity in the right moment
but yeah it's like yeah i think i think for that reason alone just because so many people think
and i mean for good reason like John is miles ahead of his competition.
But I mean, those miles can be traveled, you know, like they can be made.
And I feel like a lot of people kind of give up on that possibility without even trying for it.
You know, so I'll just, that's what I'll say.
That's good.
Yeah.
Okay.
Last one.
And we usually save the best for last. So overrated or underrated Friday night lights, the movie.
I think that's overrated as hell, man.
And I have a good reason for it too.
A good example is.
So for everyone, you said it earlier, but just so everyone knows you went,
you played high school football at Permian.
You wore the black and white uniforms, the Permian Panthers of the movie.
That's where you played high school football.
Yeah, man.
I think Friday Night Lights is so overrated because the people in that city have nothing else to live for. And it becomes such like this toxic whirlwind of a,
of a situation where it's like a lot of guys I know,
they peaked in high school forever for the rest of their lives.
The best they were at anything,
the most joy they ever had in life was playing high school football
and i just remember and i guess there's nothing there's really nothing wrong with that in the
grand scheme of things you know except like i feel like as you continue to develop and mature
in life like you should seek to accomplish greater things you know like you should never
just be satisfied with what you did the first 17 18
years of your life because you that's like a quarter of it you know but i honestly think it's
really sad because i remember i went to so my brother pablo he was two years behind me
and i went back to go watch one of his games when he was starting and
i ran into one of my old teammates and all he was talking about was how he would literally like
donate his left testicle to go back and play one more season and i'm just like dude like what are you doing with your life bro like like what's going on here
so did you guys grow up like all watching that movie and talking about i mean did you guys like
like um like actually we i don't think we did because the year that they filmed it was actually my oldest brother's senior year so if you actually
i mean this is probably very unlikely like you would have no reason to but if you for whatever
reason ever happen to be like traveling through odessa like you go to permanent high school
and you go look at like their indoor turf facility they got that in 2004 the year after or i guess like the fall of 03 right that
was my oldest brother's senior year so he's actually on the movie i forget what see like
we don't really like keep it tapped you know but he was in the movie he got to see like the actors
use the weight rooms and stuff like that like the fake weights you know like
they spray people with water to make them look like they're working hard stuff like that like
some of the movie magic but i don't know i don't know i don't know why because my uncles play for
permian um some of my cousins there so like we had a bunch of family members play for the school,
but we were never really like caught up in it.
Like we were always taught about looking for the next thing.
There's more than more.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that was always like the mindset that we were where we grew up with.
Yeah. That's a really, that's a really good question question like i've never thought about it like that but yeah like we didn't really
grow up and we're like i guess molded in that mindset right um is that i don't know the answer
to this and it's probably not but is that based on loosely do you know he's like is that like is that based on a team like loosely like i don't know like i know that was filmed like in
the 2000s like we're talking about it's an older team i don't know if it's like the late 80s or
whatever that they're showing there was that bait like was booby miles a real running back from
permian or anything he was okay no so the characters were based off real players.
Okay.
Except I think they changed some of their positions.
Like I think Preacher, he didn't play.
I think, I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
Like I'm not really like.
Yeah, he was a safety in the movie, I think, right?
Or something like that.
No, he was a defensive end.
Preacher played defensive end.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. And I think Sanchez. He was a safety, right? Or something like that? No, he was a defensive end. Preacher played defensive end. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I think Sanchez, you know,
the guy who was in the...
It was the actor, and the only reason I remember
is because he was an actor in a
CSI show,
I think, later on.
The only thing I do know is that some of
the players played different positions in the movie and
they played in like real life and then another thing is that year i don't remember what year
was like 80 something 88 89 i think it's like like 88 or something maybe yeah um actually it
was 88 because permian and real life once state three years in a row from 89
90 and 91
so
they actually didn't
go to state that year I know in the movie
yeah they lose to the big Houston team or something
don't they
no it was
what's the name of the team
I can't remember
right now but they actually didn't lose in the
state championship they lost i think in like the fourth round so for texas uh high school playoffs
i think there's i think state is the sixth round right just because there's so many schools and so
many it's a very lengthy playoff yeah so i think then the
blues they were like one round away from state but they obviously like made they rewrote it to
be at state i guess just for like dramatic you know and it worked and it was a very good movie
like that movie i mean if i watched it right now i'd probably make me tear up
would you would you guys say clear eyes,
full hearts can't lose?
No.
We would not say that.
That was always the line
that they used on the TV show then after that too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's funny.
You would have laughed at someone in the locker room if they said that it was like
so corny yeah stop saying that man most likely yeah okay good news it looks like uh you passed
overrated underrated so congratulations i appreciate it uh so when do you know when your next meet is? The way it's looking right now, it's either going to be
PA Nationals in late February or Sheffield
in, I forget the date,
it's either early or mid-March.
Obviously pending the invitation.
You're looking really strong right now.
the invitation yeah so it's a little ways off uh you're looking really strong right now yeah i mean right now because obviously like i got hurt before worlds and then
i got hurt worse at worlds so things were kind of slow a little bit but i think it was like that
taking things slow and like slowly, gradually getting back to where I was,
like kind of helped me like kind of be where I'm at now.
But I am like, I'm not really pushing it just because like,
I feel like I've been doing this long enough to understand like, okay,
I need my body to be at, it's like as close to a hundred as I can,
like when it matters.
So I know right now I've like started to push a little bit more with my volume.
But for the most part, like I've been real smart with my volume.
You know, I'm not going to push really hard.
I mean, but if you really look at it, like we're about to get close to like that 16 weeks out mark.
really look at it like we're about to get close to like that 16 weeks out mark so i feel like i'm getting close to right get into like that you know like that next year so that's kind of where i feel
like i am mentally with training like you know i've been changing and messing with like a few
variables like with sleep like nutrition like getting like i guess you could say like my equation
right for like these next 16 weeks
you know like getting a little bit more travel out you know like anniversary stuff like that
because i got like my girlfriend knows like once we're like 16 weeks out like i'm not going anywhere
you know like it's it's literally all about the like see like the conclusion like the like the meat so we're almost i like how when you are
16 weeks out it's like time to get serious because i feel like we talked to a lot of people when
they're like well once it's two weeks out yeah yeah yeah got that higher level of dedication
yeah i got you man it's just i've always been um, I feel like I can attribute a lot of that.
I guess, how do I say this? Like just my ability to prepare,
I can attribute a lot of that to like my background just because, you know,
like I come from a winning program, you know, like I understand what it takes,
you know,
like being devout to your process and just being disciplined,
like saying no to late nights, you know,
like maybe like cutting out alcohol at a certain time, you know,
like that is, that's like just something that comes really natural to me.
You know, like I've never had a hard time, like not, not partying,
you know, or like not, not not drinking if that makes sense like
i've never really been a drinker or anything like that um so for me like just getting into that
mindset is like really easy because i believe in staying ready year round you know it's a mentality
like it's a lifestyle you know so like literally like if I have to do a meet, like, two weeks out, like, okay.
Like, I've actually done that before.
Like, I think my second meet was like that because it was in 2020 in preparation for that year's nationals, you know, sadly before it was canceled because of, I think, like, that was the last year that COVID canceled any competitions.
So, like, I literally, like, as soon as this meet came up,
it was like, oh, like, we're three weeks out.
But I think the deadline to qualify for nationals was, like,
the Sunday after that Saturday.
So it was like, whatever, like, we're on lock and load.
We're going to adjust training, and we're going to get ready.
We're going to get to it. And it just kind of comes, like, we're on lock and load, we're gonna adjust training, and we're gonna get ready, we're gonna get to it. And it just kind of comes like with football,
you know, like it's you have an itinerary from like, Monday through Friday. And then like,
you kind of start next week, literally, like the next day, like Saturday, you watch film, you know, like you do your little, like your little jogs, you know, get some of that lactic acid out.
But everything is very itinerary style.
Time I eat, training, water, everything is counted to the smallest variable that I can count.
It's just kind of how my brain works.
For sure.
Well, whichever meet you do next, we'll be excited to watch you.
We'll be cheering you on and watching you smash some big weights.
And I think this is a really fun episode.
This is good.
A lot of people will be excited to hear this when it comes out next week.
And we appreciate you letting us bug you tonight and getting your time here.
This is good stuff.
I appreciate you guys.
It was a blast.
All right,
man.
Thanks Jesus.
Take it easy.
Yeah.
All right,
man.
You guys take care.
Got the cool beans.
Gave him the double.
He's got to eat all those cool beans.
Yeah.
You don't got world records.
You don't hit world records. Skipping your cool beans cool beans no he's passing on your second serving of cool beans
give me both those servings i need them both here i got i got a thousand pound squats cool hot i'll
take them all yeah dedicated yeah no kidding big jesus especially only at 24 years old that is
really impressive he's got a pretty. It seems just hard to believe.
That's even possible to be that strong.
Yeah, it's his strength
and also his mentality at it.
There's not a lot of 24-year-olds
that are running around talking about things like that.
It kind of reminds me of myself when I was 24.
Not at all.
Not even a little.
You know what else it reminds me of?
I have a hunch.
Other than you when you were 24.
That peak performance.
Yeah.
Let's see.
This is the Strength Company.
We've set out to build a better barbell plate on American soil.
We ended up here at Wisconsin's legendary Wapaka Foundry.
With over 60 years of ironworking experience, the foundry had the knowledge, technology,
and processes to build our weights to our exact specifications. The Strength Company plates are
slim but rugged, smooth but easy to grip, and electro-coated for durability
and to look great in your gym.
This is the next generation of American Iron,
only available from The Strength Company.
Oh, yeah.
You know who could lift a lot of strength-coated plates on the bar, I bet?
Big Jesus.
Actually, I think he'd be over 10 plates god would it yeah six is 585 7 675 765 855 945 is 10 damn but nobody really you know people that are lifting that much
calibrated plates loading up the plates. Yeah. 11 plates.
It's weird because it starts,
you know,
when people say four plates,
three plates,
five plates,
six plates,
it loses meaning after a certain part.
Like,
Oh,
I don't,
I hear people throw around four plates,
like three,
four,
five,
six,
seven.
Those numbers kind of mean something like after like seven,
I don't really hear people refer to it as the plate market or hardly yeah wow like i just squat in 11 plates double digits that seems like too many
that's too much on there right that is way too much tanner most shoes have a little problem
and those the problem is those shoes harm your mobility that's over restricted big problem
harm harm my feet no thank you
barefoot shoes are designed with minimal restrictions so your feet can move the way

Tanner, what do you think about barefoot shoes?
I love them.
If I were to just put you on the spot like that.
We've got a barefoot shoes flag coming to hang up in the gym.
So I'm excited about that.
All right.
You know, it's not a pair of shoes, but it is a flag that talks about the shoes.
Well, that's good because I noticed there were some empty spots on the wall.
Not very many, though, is there?
Actually, I don't even know where we can put it.
I was actually waiting to hear where you said it was going to go.
I haven't figured that part out yet.
I just have to move now 100 other flags just just tighten them up they all move over one inch and then that
eventually makes it but it's hard like when i hung that very first flag or poster on the wall
and that second one it's not like you're not just gonna put them right next to each other because
you're not thinking oh yeah we're gonna have 500 other ones well and that first one was hung just
kind of arbitrarily. Right.
And then everything is spaced off of that one.
And now it's like, well, now I need no space.
That was for maximum efficiency.
It wasn't for maximum efficiency.
But now it needs to be.
Yeah.
So Barefoot Shoes, we love them.
We got them.
We rock them.
And soon we'll be rocking the flag.
So you can get your own Barefoot Shoes
and your own flag at www.barefoot.shoes use code massonomics to save 10
on your next purchase do it now we promised has he seen it and we better just go ahead and deliver
on that because it is i think our most quickly going growing popular segment of the podcast
and this is a segment inspired by tomm not seen very many movies. Incredibly vast movie knowledge.
Yeah.
We've done 1990 and 1991 where you were a two of seven and then one of seven.
Okay.
So, of course, we're on to 1992, Tommy.
We've got seven more.
Three for 14.
This is my chance to really bring that average up.
What do you think here on number?
What do you think?
One of these weeks, it's going to be my week.
So I'm thinking three.
I think you're going to do it this. I think this is the the week i think this week you're gonna set up pr okay okay yeah i mean you have
often disappointed me in the past on this but i was about to say this is
i'm looking at three that i can't imagine you
haven't seen don't say that there might be four that i
almost like i think you're gonna get three i think you might score four okay so you'll probably get one i'm just in my head thinking will there ever be a
week i have four maybe once we get to like 2003 trick me seven times shame on me yeah but by the
time we're by the time i'm uh now 10 for 140 yeah yeah okay so has tommy seen it 1992 edition tommy have you seen it
fern gully no no i've not seen fern gully do you know about is that the one with the dog
i don't know it's a really popular kid dies or something i don't know if there's like a fairy
or um i have to i gotta look you've heard the name fern gully before
though right like that's a fern gully the last rainforest there's a fairy who lives in fern gully
a rainforest in australia and has never been a human before in fact she's told they are extinct
but when a logging company comes near the rainforest yeah she sees that they do exist
and even accidentally shrinks one of them a boy named zach now her size
zach sees the damage the company does and helps krista to stop not only them but an evil entity
who feeds off pollution okay so it's all about deforestation yeah yeah yeah there's a message
i'm pretty sure i've seen it's just been so long no i'm actually looking at this now and realizing
i've i've like never even seen this cover before okay i didn't even know this was a
animated movie i didn't i had no idea what i think it was pretty it's i think it's uh
of its time was pretty popular ferngully the last rainforest yeah i've i've i know i've heard the
name before i've never ever i would know nothing no this is like doesn't register in my brain at
all like i would have never even said this is an animated movie. Didn't know it was animated.
So Fern Gully.
No.
Yeah, that's maybe one of the only ones on the list we've had so far
that I could tell you I've heard.
What about Bob?
No, but I don't remember ever hearing about what about Bob.
Right.
I know the name Fern Gully and I have no freaking clue what that was.
We're finding different levels of you having not seen things.
Just unknown.
Okay, 0 for 1 uh have you seen it oh i kind of already know the answer to this one because this fits into uh things we've talked
about before hassanomics lore well have you seen it a few good men i've actually never seen all of
a few good men no i've seen uh the last scene on tv before never seen a few good men everyone's seen that
scene before right you know you can't handle the truth yep yep never seen it though good movie
i highly recommend a few good men oh for two i kind of expected you'd be at oh for two this time
so i still am optimistic that you'll hit all right starting now i'm gonna throw a few softballs
1992 have you seen it reservoir dogs i have
many many times yeah um yeah great movie quentin tarantino's like first
basically first movie um yeah amazing everyone should watch it i think it's my favorite quentin
tarantino is it really yeah um i always try to make my wife watch it have you ever seen jackie
brown no i'd always say that's his most underrated one
because it's probably the one no one has seen by him.
Yeah, I haven't.
I think that one's really good.
Yeah, Reservoir Dogs is really good.
One of the few heist movies that doesn't show the heist at all.
Right.
You know?
Right.
A unique take on that.
Yeah, it is.
So one for three.
One for three.
Right where I thought you would be.
Okay. Have you seen it? My Cousin Vinny. I have not I thought you would be. Okay.
Have you seen it?
My Cousin Vinny.
I have not seen My Cousin Vinny.
But are you aware of My Cousin Vinny?
It's Joe Pesci.
Who's in that?
Yeah, it's Joe Pesci.
And the lead woman actress is also popular.
As most of them tend to be.
Nope. Have not seen it and i just got to see what the marissa tomei okay so i don't know who she is um yeah i'm looking i remember this cover
of this of them here i remember that cover i just do not i i don't know what that movie's
even about i don't know a thing about it i know they're in the courtroom well have you seen it yeah oh yeah
i know they're in the court they i don't know no i don't i i couldn't say but i have seen it
i have seen it and i couldn't really i can tell you nothing. He's a lawyer. He's never won a case.
Okay.
His cousins are accused
of murder in an Alabama town.
It's up for nervous Vinny
to save them from jail.
Okay.
I can see how that
so do you not know
Marissa Tomei though?
I don't
maybe I got
may got to look here.
Let's see.
Cast
Marissa Tomei the hell is she in what was she just in recently too was she
she was in uh spider-man no way home um was she just i saw the king of stanton island with um
uh what's his name oh yeah spider-man no way home she's spider-man's mom
just funny thought um yeah i mean there's a lot of movies here i've seen almost none of them so
can't not surprising uh i have seen some movies with her in them but i do not remember her at
all so so you're one for four right now and i still think you're gonna hit three all right
gonna get my hot streak here.
Actually, it hinges maybe a little on this one.
Well, you could say it hinges on all three of the next ones to an extent.
Yeah, but one of them I know is a lot.
Okay.
Okay.
So have you seen it in Cino Man?
I have seen it.
It's been a long time, but I have seen it in Cino Man, yes. Brendan Fraser.
Yep.
Yep.
Pauly Shore.
Yeah, Pauly Shore.
Squeezing the juice or whatever that's the
is that in that one yeah because it's like
isn't it like they're in the convenience store
and
like it's the cave
caveman like putting his
it's got to be in that one right
probably yeah this Pauly Shore had
like five movies that were the same maybe
for a while it's so hard to even
keep track but yeah don't they take him to like all the parties and he always has sunglasses on yeah talk yeah
they find a frozen caveman yeah it's been a long time but i have yes i have seen encino man okay
so that's two we're we're i think we're flirting with three possibly four i think we're going to
be in pr territory no matter what. Here we go.
1992 changed generation.
Have you seen it?
The Mighty Ducks?
I have seen the Mighty Ducks.
So this is one way you'll probably get me on movies is I pretty much have and still for the most part hate sports movies mighty ducks is one that i probably have seen
twice in my life and both times were under the age of 10 so i just remember so little about it
but i do know i have seen it do you remember the flying v i do remember the flying v yeah
the knuckle puck right was that was that one or two that would be two right uh i don't know
right i can't even remember yeah that was two all right that was mighty ducks too because that was keenan or that
was uh cal or who keenan is keenan keenan yeah and thompson i don't believe cal was very funny
if he was but i don't that was uh good burger i was thinking of the movie good burger welcome
to good burger home of the good burger can i take to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger. Can I take your order? Okay.
You're at three for six.
Last one.
This could set a big precedent if you hit four here.
Because that's over 50% now.
Yeah.
Have you seen it?
Batman Returns, 1992.
Is that the one with... I actually have to pull it up to remember it.
There's so many Batman movies.
I forget what one's what.
Danny DeVito is the Penguin.
Oh, that's the Penguin?
I have, yes.
Okay, and Catwoman, too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yes, I have seen this one.
I remember as a kid...
You know, it's Michael Keaton as Batman.
Yes, there you go, Michael.
Yeah, I remember as a kid,
this was pretty scary for me.
But I have seen it.
God, I honestly probably haven't seen this movie
since I was under 10 years old.
I haven't seen it for a long time. I think it's probably a decent Batman movie, though, in the scheme seen it. God, I honestly probably haven't seen this movie since I was under 10 years old. I haven't seen it for a long time.
I think it's probably a decent Batman movie, though,
in the scheme of them.
I think it's...
It'd be worth watching again.
I really do not...
It's got a good cast.
The first Batman movie that I really remember
watching, watching was...
Oh, wait a minute.
What was the one with Mr. Freeze in it? That's Arnold, right? Yeah, minute what was the one with mr freeze in it that's arnold right yeah
what was what one was that one that's suckier that was like the first batman movie i remember
being like oh i'm watching batman like excited for it actually that's like uh is that called
batman and robin yeah yeah that's george clooney as batman which that's a george oh it is batman and robin yeah
you're right george clooney is a garbage batman yeah he doesn't fit the batman no no that's that
might be like the worst batman movie and uma thurman is poison yeah yeah that's not good. Who is the Riddler?
Well, that was the other Batman.
That was Jim Carrey, wasn't it?
Yeah, it was.
Or was that in Batman Returns, or was that the one you were just talking about?
We don't know.
These 30-year-old Batman movies are hard to keep straight.
Oh, God.
And in 10 years, they'll say about all these other
that was batman forever in 1995 of course and that was val kilmer as batman what's confusing oh
okay here's oh yes okay yeah yeah yeah here's what's confusing to me in 1992 batman was michael
keaton three years later which is not very far in 95 batman was val kilmer then
in 1997 two years after that batman was george clooney wow they wouldn't do that now no they
they make like one guy stick around for a few three different batmans in major motion pictures
and from 92 to 97 a five-year span and you have three like like george clooney michael keaton val kilmer you have
three like top level actors like yeah all being batman in that short period of time and they
weren't doing batman like the way they were doing it no like batman's like really cool like i even
remember then thinking like batman seems kind of lame a little bit like you know he doesn't have
any powers is a really terrible batman that's the worst yeah i didn't none of them as a as a kid
none of these movies really uh another none of these really resonated with i think batman returns the one
in question from 1992 is the best one out of them though i so you did see it though yeah so that's
four damn you just went four of seven man of culture over here yeah you just like threw your
whole average way out of whack with that i. I had an incredibly hard time describing the plots of most of those movies I saw,
but I do know I've seen them at one point.
Yeah.
Isn't it weird, though?
You definitely watched movies, but it was 20 years ago,
and you're like, I don't really remember that.
I know I saw it, but I just don't really remember it.
In that vein for me, like Batman Returns, it just don't really remember it in that uh vein for me like
batman returns it's been a really long time since i've seen that but i kind of i can i can literally
picture uh the penguin in my head being in the sewer and like danny devito being that and being
like really creeped out by it like i can at least remember things about it my cousin vinnie i'm like
i know i've watched it i can't really oh i even i remember the cat woman just at the time thinking
like that seems like too much leather too much shiny leather for a person to wear yeah that's
a lot of shiny leather i think that's michelle pfeiffer though right uh i just had it up i don't
even remember i think it was yeah her name was on one of the posters i'll tell you that but then
later holly berry was a cat woman i think was she cat actually? I don't know. Yeah. Okay. She wasn't Poison Ivy, so.
Okay, no.
She wasn't Mr. Freeze, either.
That is an awful.
So, yeah, she must have been Catwoman.
Oh, yeah.
Wasn't that movie supposed to be just god-awful, like terrible?
The Batman and Robin.
Oh, was that the one that she was in?
Oh.
Wasn't she like a standalone?
Wasn't there a standalone Catwoman one or not?
There could be.
Let's see. There is a lot of batman movies a surprising number actually they were ahead of that comic book curve there is so
many batman movies oh not car woman movie no wonder none of these results are right
catwoman movie yeah halle berrye Berry Catwoman, 2004.
Okay.
It has a 3.4 rating on IMDb and an 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes,
so you know it's good.
That is bad.
I do remember that, though.
I never saw it.
I can't say I've confidently seen that one.
Did you ever see the movie?
I'd have to say I want to know.
Did you ever see it?
I'm pretty sure this movie was universally agreed on as being God awful.
Let me check before I sound too stupid here.
You know, I'm really building the suspense.
Let's see.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, yeah.
This movie, to me, sucked really bad.
Me and my friends hated it.
It's actually not rated as bad.
Daredevil in 2003.
It would have been the year before Catwoman with Halle berry was daredevil ben ben affleck was yep michael clark duncan
michael clark duncan was in it as well he was very strong michael clark duncan strongest actor
to have ever lived this uh movie did have a 5.3 on imdb but we i did not like that joke i thought
that movie really sucked as a kid. Yeah.
The guy that says I never miss and throws cards or some shit.
It was something stupid.
I didn't like that one.
No, I don't think that's good.
You know how many movies I see a year and I waste it on this?
That's all I was thinking as a kid.
It was one of the two movies I'm going to watch from this year of movies. You just ruined it.
Actually, 2003, was there an Austin Powers movie that came out in 2003?
There could have been. Yeah, but was it like the third one
it could have been let's see austin powers 2 with uh queen b damn austin powers 2 was in 99
i was gonna say the first one was in 99 oh it was i think 97 99 I would guess that third one is like 2002. Yeah.
That one's not as good.
No,
it's not as good.
It's still Austin Powers.
I could go without even watching that third one to tell you the truth.
Yeah.
I kind of almost think that they at times would like to think that that is
that one doesn't exist either.
But yeah.
Yeah.
The first two are pretty damn good.
First two are great.
We'll get to those,
but that's for another,
another session.
That's only, only about 10 weeks. Yeah. We know we'll get to those but that's for another another session that's only
only about 10 weeks away yeah we know we're gonna hit on those something to look forward to yeah

We got to think of a name for this hoodie before tomorrow.
I had to read it off of your shirt to make sure I said it right.
It just rolls off the tongue so much easier than Masonomics, though, doesn't it?
Yeah.
Well, I guess the name.
Actually, the name.
Yeah, you just don't say it.
You just don't say it.
It's like Prince.
He's the symbol.
You just don't say it.
Yeah.
So this doesn't look bad.
You know, this is the called name.
It just doesn't verbally come off right.
All right.
Solve that problem.
And then the new T, which is called what?
Never going to stop.
Never going to stop T.
