As long as the picture moves, it's mostly good enough. All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this week's episode of the Massanomics Podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:36 I am Tyler. Next to me, as always, is Tommy. What's up? And across the way is Tanner. Hey, everyone. How's it going today? I'm doing good. That's good to hear. That bit almost never gets along, unless you're not us. And if you're listening, it's probably getting really fucking old right now. Don't expect it to stop anytime soon.
Starting point is 00:01:00 And then they're going to be totally fucking amused with themselves. So this week we have some, I would say, pretty seriously big breaking news in the world. We always, wait a second, we always say that as a joke, like almost every episode. This time, I think it's true. I wish we had like the breaking news button where it goes, do, do, do, do, do, do, do. And like some music comes in and stuff. Tanner, are you going to be on that in post? I think I could do that pretty easily, throw that in at least a video.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Get a little ticker on the bottom to keep people in the loop on what's happening. Yeah, that's a good idea actually too. It'd just have like two sentences on it that we just repeat over and over again. Yeah. So Tanner, I'm going to just turn it over to you as far as to give us the lead into this. So I did what you could probably actually consider a little bit of reporting today some heavy journalism okay tanner investigatory journalist and well the the journalistic side of the massonomics business
Starting point is 00:01:58 needed you know some some stuff a little more so yeah you did some deep digging and i found out something that that is is kind of breaking news some people might be on to it if you follow the scene and i'll preface this by uh if you don't care about lifting this is not important news at all whatsoever but in just our little world of things but if you're listening to this and you don't care about lifting you might be wasting your time i don't know right yeah like so for our moms since you're listening like you're not going to care about the rest of you might find this means doesn't mean anything to you i'm sorry just like everything else we talk about no they mean well
Starting point is 00:02:33 though they're so handsome i know i like it because it's my son i wish he didn't say that uh but anyway so i talked to uh jim mcd who would be most commonly known as a friend of the podcast friend of the podcast that's how he's most well known friend of the massonomics podcast uh maybe even second second most known for being one of the co-hosts of uh mark bell's power cast yeah and kind of what do you what would you call his role like in the podcast he's like the facilitator or like the well he does all the behind the scenes stuff i believe producer yeah yeah that's probably a good term a producer and co-host yeah um but i don't know have any of you guys noticed that there has not been a new episode of mark bell's
Starting point is 00:03:21 power cast in 2018 i have noticed that yeah there's been some best-ofs in 2017. Yeah. And so normally Mark Bell's Podcast has been new out every single week. And if it's not, they make it very clear that we're... As a matter of fact, they had ramped up to twice a week for a while. Yeah. Very recently at the end of this year. Which I really enjoyed, actually.
Starting point is 00:03:43 So like a week ago, I was wondering what the hell's going on. So I searched on my phone and made sure that, uh, I'm, uh, I just got an important message. Is it more breaking news? No.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Tyler told me to keep my arms off the table. We don't have anyone on the other side of the camera yeah like running adjusting for that yeah uh but so i've been wondering what the hell's going on with that because like it's been steady as a rock like no gaps in their episodes ever so i did a look looking last week and i'm like well i'm still subscribed to it and i clicked you know, went into the show and there's just nothing new. So this week I, today I checked again and I was like, that can't be right now. There's something weird about that. There still hasn't been an episode in like two or three weeks now. And I haven't heard anything. So I clicked on, um, I, on Instagram, I looked at, uh's PowerCast has its own page. He has like seven different pages.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Mark Bell, Slingshot, Super Training Gym, Mark Bell's Podcast. But I found what I thought was Mark Bell's Podcast, but it wasn't called that anymore. It was called like the Mark Bell's Power Project. And then I looked and there hasn't been a post for like two weeks and i was like that's really really weird uh and i i've talked with jim mcd about a couple things you know asking advice about some stuff we do and just you know asking him things and finding out kind of what they do so i shot him a message and asked him what's going on with the power cast. There hasn't been anything out there for a couple of weeks.
Starting point is 00:05:30 And he told me, I kind of want to get to it because kind of, I don't want to misinterpret what he said. And there were some things he let me know would be cool to say at this point and some things that he doesn't want me to say at this point but he did say that he'll follow back around with us when it is to a point in time when he uh can say more uh but as for right now he let us know that uh the power cast is over it no longer exists and that him and mark have gone their separate ways and he's no longer associated with uh super training in any way wow yeah that that was a did he let you know if it was like uh like this was unanimous like they both was it like that probably gets into a gray area some
Starting point is 00:06:27 of what i you know he doesn't necessarily want to be talked about at this time he said there's uh other factors that play that yeah i think there's and also it seems like from the outside looking in which is all we can do yeah because it seems to me like there's a lot of things just going on yeah oh yeah there's a move oh yeah there's a movie there's uh fucking you know because they're making a documentary now yeah and then there's chris bell yeah and there's you know so there's just i think a lot of things oh yeah there's a lot of moving parts a lot of probably growth in some parts and you know changes and others and uh i wish i could say more right now but i want uh you know jim to continue to feel comfortable talking to us about things so i don't want to so the general gist though is the power cast is no longer it does not any longer exist and one other part
Starting point is 00:07:26 well i guess i won't i won't i won't say that but one other thing he did he did say i could mention as far as what what jim is going to be up to in the future is that uh he's decided to go forward with a new solo show and i haven't got a chance to check this out yet, but he said you can find the trailer on Apple Podcasts under the Less Than Obvious Podcast. I like the name. So I would... We all should have listened to that, I guess, before this.
Starting point is 00:08:00 But literally, this was just this afternoon that I was talking to him, and I haven't got the opportunity. So maybe after this episode and we can revisit that but you know he said he'd appreciate people checking that out and uh seeing what that's all about yeah mentioned a couple other things about what what his show is going to be about um i don't, but we better listen to it before. Yeah, because I can't get it. So if you want to beat us to the punch,
Starting point is 00:08:30 Less Than Obvious podcast, there's a preview on Apple Podcasts. Yes, and it is called, again, The Less Than Obvious Podcast is Jim McD's new solo project. Interesting. He said he's working on a couple other things, is Jim McD's new solo project. Interesting. He said he's working on a couple other things, but a key takeaway being he is no longer in any way affiliated with Mark or
Starting point is 00:08:51 super training. But that was a long relationship too. They were YouTube videos going back quite a ways. Really? Like towards where YouTube was not what YouTube is today. Probably where there wasn't really a fitness YouTube yet. Well, it was, they've talked about it before. There wasn't money.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Well, they've talked about it before where they were doing videos really before people were putting videos on YouTube. Yeah. Like they had other uploading. Before, yeah. Before YouTube was the place to put a video on. They were still, they were making videos already at that point. So, and. Putting that shit on LimeWire.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Jim trained there obviously for a for a long time but i don't know it's probably been over 10 years i would i would assume yeah probably and the podcast has does i think it has over 400 episodes or 300 or somewhere in there it's got to be a lot yeah especially once they really started to pile them on with the two a week. Yeah. So that's kind of a big deal in our world of power lifting or strength based podcasts. If we were to go through what is like the, other than the Massanomics podcast, what is the single most like popular? And I don't know the numbers. Basically, nobody fucking knows the numbers. But what's the most popular podcast in actual strength sports?
Starting point is 00:10:15 If I had to put money on it, that would be the one. Is there a crop? Is Barbell Shrugged more? Barbell Shrugged, I think, has taken a bit of a decline to some extent. Yeah, and I think they're trying to restructure again to try to get back. They're getting different guests now. It got weird. That Barbell Shrugged got weird for a little bit,
Starting point is 00:10:35 so I don't fucking know what's going on there. But I don't think as many people, near as many people listening to that as were. So I don't know that there's anything. From my viewpoint, it it is has been and we do get to the point too where we can't see the forest through the trees because some of it's like i don't if you tell me about some podcasts you guys come to me with podcasts that are like what was some of the like famous like serialized podcasts that we had what was the one like shit s town you guys gave me about that one i was like never fucking heard of it but it was apparently like had one of the most yeah yeah it's one like the most download so that's kind of where i'm we're like uh uh too close to the
Starting point is 00:11:13 elephant that's what you'd say like we're just so in the industry that all you can see is like elephant dick skin and you can't tell that it's actually an elephant. This whole thing is just a big old elephant. So the Mark Bell PowerCast was the elephant dick. And we were really, really close to it. And we were riding that thing. Staring at that elephant penis. Couldn't even. We were too close.
Starting point is 00:11:38 We were aspiring to someday. We weren't just too close to the elephant. We were too close to the elephant penis to be able to even see the elephant penis. This week's episode of Mastodonomics Podcast, the guys from Mastodonomics are not good at analogies. But I don't know. What else? Is there anything close to the PowerCast? Oh, Juggernaut.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Juggernaut. I do really enjoy that. It is different, though. It is different, though. It's so new. But I think it is on a sharp incline where the power cast could be a little more. Or it was maybe planing out. Yeah, I would think. Maybe that's not accurate.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Maybe they have increased also. But it really, to me, seems like Juggernaut has really escalated over the last year. The thing was is I think we maybe talked, I don't know if we had talked about this on the air or not, but I was getting to where I was really enjoying when it was Mark and Jim and they were doing two a week. Because even if they weren't doing,
Starting point is 00:12:37 even if they would have a guest, still a good portion of it would be just the two of them actually just talking about things, which was a little bit more enjoyable, I thought, than sometimes you get a guest and you got to cover their bases you got to cover yeah i mean because i couldn't agree more yeah you got to do the upbringing story how do you get into it then you got to talk about whatever it is that they're there to pimp oh you got a book out and and that's just the nature of it but if you're not that into the guest it's like it gets tough yeah if i'm not into the the guest, it's like, yeah, if I'm not into the guest, I just, it's like, I don't want to know about this person.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And that's the thing now with fitness, like there's between Instagram and YouTube, there's so many different people like that have their different approach and their different viewpoints that sometimes there were guests that were just like, man, you are tough to listen to. Or I don't care a thing about what you're trying to preach. Whereas what we do with this podcast is we basically never have guests and are also really hard to listen to or i don't care a thing about what you're trying to preach whereas what we do with this podcast is we basically never have guests and yeah are also really hard to listen so i think we're gonna we're just not bringing anyone else into our mess here we like to take kind of we pick and choose uh the worst things we notice about all the other podcasts we do all of like to put those together. Here's what we need. We need poor sound quality. We need poor video quality.
Starting point is 00:13:49 And then we also need to be really uninterested. It's like a test of the human condition. Really, what can it withstand? What we want to find out, guys, is how many of you are actually capable of enduring what we do once a week for an hour? I would say we, without question, just at least moved one seat higher at the table. One seat closer to the top. And if by nothing else, by no other measure of ours,
Starting point is 00:14:15 if we just continue to endure, we can continue. We'll just last so long that people can't help but know that there is a podcast that we do that exists. Like, if we literally do nothing else well, we will just continue to exist. I mean, there's got to be a point when we have 400 episodes and someone's going to be like, I don't know. These guys have 400 episodes. Like, that means something. I have people that I hate having to explain that we have a podcast to.
Starting point is 00:14:44 hate having to explain that we have a podcast because it's like all right if you're a person in the real world like in my like life i guess who doesn't already know and then i have to tell you that we have like 94 episode this is our 95th episode and they're like are you fucking serious they're like an hour long yeah we have produced 95 hours of us doing this. And driven, gone on road trips and stuff. Alone out of the country, across the country. I don't know if either of you two this is true or not, but there are people in my life that I talk to every day, I would say for tens of 20s of hours a week, that would not know the word Masonomics,
Starting point is 00:15:27 wouldn't know what that meant if I said it, and obviously wouldn't know that there's a podcast. You're probably the most undercover out of everyone. But you also don't want them to know. Right. You guys both work for yourselves, so it's a different thing, whereas I work for uh yeah i don't have anyone to tell this is everyone that i know right here you just said haven't seen
Starting point is 00:15:50 anyone in a few months yeah tommy works out of his house yeah he hasn't got out of sweat since he quit his day job but so not far from the truth there's people that i talk to you know many times a week that literally know nothing about it it's like a secret i'm like you don't even know i'm fucking famous bro there's literally tens of people out there that want to hear me talk tens maybe even 11s yeah so but going back to the power cast like to me like it it kind of almost feels like the end of an era a little bit like when i think back i i can say for a fact that that was the first podcast i ever listened to in my life. That was what got me into podcasts.
Starting point is 00:16:27 I remember talking to you at the YMCA. Tanner, do you ever listen to podcasts? You're like, I don't think I've ever listened to one. Because I'm not that into dudes. And I'm trying to remember. I think I made the suggestion saying, oh, I've been listening to Mark Bell's Powercast. Because the only reason I even knew it existed is because it was always talked about at the end of their YouTube videos.
Starting point is 00:16:47 And I think that, you know, they talk about it, Instagram and stuff too. And it just like, it was like, I don't know what that medium is. Like,
Starting point is 00:16:54 that's the thing. I don't understand that. And started listening to sound was like, Oh, like these guys are talking about lifting. Like this is stuff I'd want to talk about with people, but I've, I don't have anyone to talk about this with.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Cause you can't just go to the Y and talk to people for two hours straight. So it kind of like gave you that fix of like, oh yeah, finally someone that kind of gets what I'm doing. And like, I know like everyone started listening to it then. That was certainly my first exposure ever to podcasts, you know, probably through your recommendation. And for quite some time, it was the only podcast.
Starting point is 00:17:23 And that's how I was too. And after a while i was like you know i definitely have learned something listening to this so it's like if i can like learn something listening to people talk about lifting for like an hour a couple times a week like maybe i could learn about like i don't know personal finance or something useful like something that like might be more helpful to me but i did it that's as far as the thought actually probably many things a person could educate themselves about a podcast with which i do none of it yeah it's like you can
Starting point is 00:17:50 it's like with podcasts you can you can literally be in a room with like experts and listen to them talk for an hour and like that that's a pretty rare opportunity topic yeah on almost any topic like that's a pretty rare opportunity but like do most people do anything but nah? And yet, here you guys are. You picked this for the experts. Listen to us talk about another podcast that isn't a podcast anymore. Jesus Christ, what are you doing? I would say it was, at least on several levels, probably an inspiration for, you know, where we've gotten to now
Starting point is 00:18:27 because they laid a lot of the groundwork. I don't think this would have existed if it wasn't for the power cast. No, and I mentioned that to Jim too. I was like, gosh, I kind of feel, you know, I honestly feel a little disappointed about that because that's for those reasons that we just mentioned. You know, it's kind of a little bit like, ah, damn it. If your favorite TV show, if you were a big Seinfeld fan in the 90s, and they're like, yeah, this is the last season.
Starting point is 00:18:51 You're like, what? This is like the funniest show on television. You can't stop making it. It feels a little bit like that to me. Yeah, it definitely had a big impact in the uh in the industry and now fitness and podcast i know you can't get very far into this but here's what i'm gonna ask one question i want a yes or no answer what did they stop making the power cast because they were afraid of the massonomics podcast and go massonomics effect was yes yes i mean i might get in trouble for
Starting point is 00:19:28 saying that part but they were like these guys are coming at us yes that was well now we know yeah now everyone knows but uh if you have a friend out there that was also really into the the power cast and they feel like they have that same void in their life right now, you know where to steer them. Yep. Right here. Right into these big loving arms. We ain't going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Yeah. Right into this three-way of pleasure. We have no anything. We don't have any other sponsors to please. We have nothing so nothing can divide us. divide us there's nothing going for us we don't make any money we don't have businesses as long as our significant others don't put an end to this it's gonna keep going yep i think we we know but that. You guys could actually I feel like that could be a really powerful tool for us to grow
Starting point is 00:20:28 our audience. If you in your gym or wherever you talk about other people that lift if you could mention our podcast to them I really think a little more of that could help our... Did you guys know how the power cast, you guys used to like that? Well guess what, it's not a thing anymore.
Starting point is 00:20:44 So here's what you're listening to like that well guess what it's not a thing anymore so here's what you're listening to now bitches yep or if you uh just were out of ideas you could like google strength podcast listen to and uh and i bet there's a list there with which we're on one that will come up first that we made that will point you in some good directions one of those will be nolan boyd at two of those are nolan boyd at this of those are Nolan Boyd. Two of our list. Two of them no longer exist. This is female powerlifting. Is no more.
Starting point is 00:21:13 No, Mark Mills Powercast is no more. So it's just like we said. We're coming for you, Chad Wesley Smith. You're next. You heard it here first. Shots. You're experienced training world-class athletes. Let's see how far that gets you. Listen, you know what we do?
Starting point is 00:21:25 We pretend to be real people who interview people. You try and keep this up longer than us. Like, you have something going for you. So you have real motivation to do it. If anything goes awry with that, you're screwed. We have nothing. Like, there is no way for us to get less motivation to do this. We can't lose.
Starting point is 00:21:44 It's like the Owen 16 Browns browns baby we'll just keep showing up it is interesting uh you know we had talked about it maybe when we started to like how just consistently doing a podcast is hard not that the hour in which you do it is difficult but like getting three four five six i suppose if you're i don't know what the production is like on something like the power cast but like they do have a pretty hefty setup at least from what we've seen it seems like many cameras and so it's like that seems like a lot on the back end to do there's a lot of organization to be done so i'm sure that that's not easy to coordinate just all and then just
Starting point is 00:22:26 schedules too like we even find it with the three of us i mean we those guys i'm sure those guys live farther from each other we all live within like we can get here in five minutes and it's still tough between schedules and family you know adults and yeah to make stuff work jobs and yeah it's not easy no and i think that's the that's the, like, here we are. This is our second week in a row we've recorded. You guys won't know this, but three days late, which then puts a push on, all right, so audio's got to get edited, uploaded now. Tanner's got to really push to get video done pretty much tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Yeah, I mean, I could say my life would be easier if we did not podcast. I mean, I could say my life would be easier if we did not podcast. Like there is a, you know, it requires, you know, requires time from all of us. Or you'd be much more wealthy if you just had a part-time job that paid minimum wage. Realistically, yes. But that's not really the point. You know, that is not. The idea would be, number one, to fun and number two if possible at some point
Starting point is 00:23:25 to make money while having fun yeah not to just not have fun and make a little bit of money you know like so that's that's kind of where but we're still in the not making money but having fun phase we produce money money happens like we sell lots of stuff yeah some money comes in and some money goes out but i feel like tanner and all his spreadsheets that he says that we don't read i know about always hide a few cells yeah there's a few cells like decimal points and long spots autumn ach transfer to my bank account i would have if honestly tommy if tanner was $30,000 a year out of this business, would you have any way to fucking know? I wouldn't, but at the same time, I feel like if there was $30,000 that happened, I'd maybe have a hint that there was $30,000. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:21 We're looking at you, Tanner. No comment. A thousand. Yeah. Yeah. We're looking at you, Tanner. No comment. I also, you know, I'm not at a stage where I could comment much more on that.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Right now there's legalities and. With all the ins and outs. All my lawyers present. I don't want to. So that's pretty much the news. That is the news. You heard it here first, and that's the rest of the story. That is it.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Paul Harvey, good day. Well, we'll see you all next week. That was a 25-minute news story. That was a 25-minute breaking news story, yeah. That is pretty good. It led into our whole podcast philosophies and what we do about our views on gay marriage and life in general, really. Do you guys think that people should be allowed to get gay married to marijuana?
Starting point is 00:25:11 Well, man, I don't know. I don't want to get political here. Is it for a medicinal rationale or recreational? If a man wants to gay marry some marijuana. Is the marijuana consenting, though?
Starting point is 00:25:25 It has to be, right? Is it old enough? Oh, fuck. How old does marijuana have to be? Does the marijuana own any guns? Yeah. Is it also bearable? Listen, guys, marijuana can't own guns.
Starting point is 00:25:35 This is America. This is America. Everyone can own guns, even your marijuana. Here we go, getting political again. Oh, man, that's probably more political than I ever want to get on this podcast. So what happened this week? Way to skirt the real issues, Tommy. I know.
Starting point is 00:25:50 We do not talk about real issues. So what happened this weekend at South Dakota Strongest Man? Yeah, that's what I want to know now. Oh, yeah. That's the next. I'm trying to think of how we want to run through this. I'm going to run through. I'll go over generalities, and we'll run through real quick.
Starting point is 00:26:06 I don't know. Have we brought this up on the podcast at all? I think we mentioned that maybe you're doing very little. I don't even know if we really spoke of the events and stuff. So it's basically this past weekend, Tyler, Tyler's wife Megan, and a few other people competed in South Dakota's Strongest Man. Yep. In Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Starting point is 00:26:22 There was like twice as many people turned up for this, competitors, as there was last year. And subsequently, I would assume fans, because the only fans that come are the family and friends. So if twice as many people are doing it, there's twice as many fans. Yep. And fortunately, Big Jacob Daigle and Big Tim Feathers and their families and friends were able to put on an event that did not take twice as long. That's always a plus, too. Because that's a tough deal. Like, you know, we run ours like an exhibition,
Starting point is 00:26:49 so it's pretty easy for our event to be timely and quick. Ours is not really comparable to what all the others. Anything happens, yeah. Ours just really is not comparable. So many weight classes and weight changes and shifts and this and that. And so they did a really good job ran a pretty tight event um judging was good judging was fair there was really no gripes about any of that um yeah it was it was a good time the events were uh i was super worried about the fact that lots
Starting point is 00:27:19 of the events finished with or were simply four reps because i was like i don't want to do things for a whole minute i gotta do things for a whole minute can i just do one thing in that minute yes and have it just be let's see how heavy that thing can be um but it fortunately the weights got heavy enough for some of the lightweights lightweights middleweights and some of the women like the weights were kind of the way it always is where there's like a lot of reps happening. So I was seeing like, you know, we'll get into it. But like on some of the stuff, like the press medley, the last one was for reps, you know. So I was seeing some people, some of the lighter people getting like 10, 12, 13.
Starting point is 00:27:58 And I was like, if I have to fucking press 300 pound axle 13 fucking times after doing two other things. No thanks. Fortunately, it was just heavy, so nobody was doing that. But, no, it was good. So I'll just run through the, I guess, overall. I got second place overall. There was six of us in the super heavyweight class. That's a lot.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Which is a big jump from last year. It was a big jump from last year. That's a lot for any local strong super heavyweight class and then when we talk about how big the super heavyweight class really was so the cutoff for super heavyweight was 275 yeah if you're above 275 you'd be in super the smallest super heavyweight was 65315 yeah yeah so the smallest super heavyweight was 40 pounds over the cutoff. Yeah. Rightfully so.
Starting point is 00:28:46 You do not want to be the 280-pound super heavyweight. Yeah. There shouldn't be anyone like 290 and less ever because if you weigh 290, it's like I need to get used to that. You either got to get bigger or you got to just be smaller. Yeah, because in strongman, the cutoffs of those weight classes, you get to do less weight. It's not just like powerlifting where you're fitting into a weight class
Starting point is 00:29:10 to compete against different people. You literally can do less weight. It makes your day easier. Yes. So there should not ever be anyone like, unless you literally just don't care about that, but I would say generally you shouldn't weigh 285 and be in the super heavyweight class.
Starting point is 00:29:24 So I think there was a 315 um my boy samisi was about 325 330 um i was 327 or 328 uh there was a 340 and a three i think a 330 or 340 or 350, and then there was a 370. So some big motherfuckers. I think the shortest was 6'3". Like, some big frickin' dudes. And so the guy that won was named Dom, I think Leontis or something like that. My understanding, I don't know this for a fact. Well, other than I know he's really strong, he's from Canada. Supposedly, I think he got, like, second in Canadian Nationals or something like that last year. So a really, really strong dude.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Yeah. Like. All that maple syrup. Apparently. Yeah. All that Canada stuff. First event was the overhead, like, a press medley, which for us was a 300-pound log clean and press. Then you move on to a one-handed circus dumbbell press was 175
Starting point is 00:30:29 i think and then to a 300 pound axle clean and press for reps um i got second in that event dom went through and he got one of each and that was it um i got the log got to the dumbbell fucking big jacobs dumbbell we got to talk about this thing so i asked him i went up there this dumbbell is steel it's 105 pounds empty um and it has a three inch handle which is about what that flex flask handle is so imagine really yeah it is it is literally that wow yeah because a three inch pbc pipe is like exactly like yeah that's about how big so it is the most fucking awful thing in the world he said he bought it he got it from um um carl gillingham and that they just used it for grip training and it's like well that's i feel like that's how that thing should be used. Yeah, yeah. And only for that.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Carl Gillingham is an expert on grip training. They are. And one of the best in the world also. Yeah, the old Gillingham grip gauntlet. Yep. So that dumbbell, got it thrown up on my shoulder. Basically had to mist it, reset. Ended up getting it. Chewed up some time, though.
Starting point is 00:31:43 You know, because fucking cleaning and getting stable with a 300- log sucks it just takes time takes many seconds if it was light enough well i saw big z just do it though i know apparently i'm not and and so we get uh and so i ended up getting that but the thing was the dumbbell is such a wild card i didn't even train a circus dumbbell at all. I was waiting for Titan to release one so I could buy one on the cheap. And now they did funny, fun fact, literally the like 12 hours after I was done competing,
Starting point is 00:32:13 they released one. Yeah, exactly. They released one and then I bought it right away, but I only bought the two and a half inch handle. So they came in two and a half or three, two, two and a half or three in the 12 inch.
Starting point is 00:32:23 And then in the 10 inch, they have a two and a two and a half. I is that the the measure of the grip the 12 inch 12 inches 12 inches the diameter of the bell oh yeah is it so was this dumbbell though it looked like is it loadable with like 25 or how does yeah 25 okay and and maybe a 10 inch one like you can only fit 10s in it i don't know yeah you know a 10 inch you can fit 10 a 12 one, you can only fit 10s in it. Yeah, I think so. You know, a 10-inch, you can fit 10. A 12-inch circus, you can fit 25s. Yeah. But anyway, so I had never, I hadn't even trained it.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I was just like, oh, fuck it. We'll see. And I got it. And I tried it empty a few times. And I was like, well, it is what it is. I'm not going to practice pressing. The competition weight. Plus, it's like a whole bunch of shit. Like, there's a bunch, you know, warming up.
Starting point is 00:33:03 There's still going to be, if I get it, get warm, time it's just a confidence booster but then i'm fatigued and then it's another hour before it's actually my turn to go because they go with the novice women and if you put all the weight if you go 90 percent of your competition weight or higher the 100 percent and you don't get it like because you're kind of dicking around warming up and then you're like well shit maybe i can't do it yeah so i just stayed away from it basically just got a feel for the handle and that was it um after that so i got second in that i don't even know if anybody i think one other guy got the log nobody else even got the log um then was the yoke which i have had like a knee thing for a while and i hadn't and i got my yokes like after my knee thing and so i hadn't trained a yoke a heavy yoke i knew i wasn't going to train
Starting point is 00:33:56 a fucking 800 pound yoke within three weeks of the competition at all and so by the time my knee was kind of feeling okay it was too close so, so I was just like, fuck it, we'll feel out the yoke day of, and I didn't, again, didn't even take a warm-up run with the yoke at all. I never felt that much weight on my back until they blew the whistle, and that fucking sucks ass.
Starting point is 00:34:16 Like, I will tell you one thing, that much weight on your, like, our 600 pounds this summer was so light. Like, I mean, at least, like, I didn't, same deal. Didn't feel like it was crushing that. Didn't practice it. I just stayed tight and moved with it. And I could basically just zoom with it.
Starting point is 00:34:30 You know, no problem. This was fucking soul crushing. Like I fucking felt like such a pussy and I fucking, it sucked. I only got down and about two thirds of the way back before I got timed out. And I went and laid the fuck down and I was so tired and winded and dizzy and like sick um did not like that one bit um i got third in that event dom basically just ran with it um and then trevor siemensma who was
Starting point is 00:34:57 the the smallest who's fucking enormous yeah um he pretty much moved with it pretty fucking easy too um next event was the car deadlift which is actually a jeep um ladies did the tire um we did a jeep so parallel grip uh yeah most that's how most uh strongman yeah uh car deadlifts are is what you guys did there. Except the Mastodonics one. And World's Strongest Man. World's Strongest Man always, like Mariusz Pudzianowski, when they used to do that event, they always did a front handle.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Yeah. And we do a front handle too, but almost like every other one is just. And for people that don't know what we're talking about, it's more of like your hex bar style deadlift with your handles to your sides. Yeah, handles are in a neutral grip and they're kind of at your shins. I saw they had a board under there so it wasn't super low to the ground. I definitely like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Could you notice that? What did you think about the parallel grip? I didn't mind the parallel grip for me because I'm not a great – maybe at that height it wouldn't have been bad to be forward. But, yeah, i don't think it made a big difference because the way that i do deadlift that kind of i think works for me it's whatever a lot of people say it's uh the side grip car deadlift if you get in the right position like the closest lean back squat yeah it's or like a front squat a lot of people say
Starting point is 00:36:22 like it's a good exercise to train. So how would you feel like that one? Because now this is just only the second car deadlift apparatus. But overall, the motion and everything else felt pretty similar. The movement, yeah, yeah. I would say, yeah, yeah. This was definitely heavier than the one we had this summer. Because what they did is they had the same vehicle,
Starting point is 00:36:48 and then they just put people in it. And then they'd add plates to the frame this for the different weight classes yeah i just kind of added some shit as it went on so um i had two people in the back and some miscellaneous weights stacked on the frame and and so um the two guys before me who were able to move it um trevor got i think like in the teens like 15 or 16 yeah he's a really good devil yeah but apparently dom also is a really good so i went right because i was in second so i went and then and i knew that i was not going i mean i was pretty sure i mean i was just going into it knew that i like maybe like 15 16 17 probably wasn't going to happen. So I went ahead and just set my target. One of the guys got five.
Starting point is 00:37:33 So I was like, I got to get six. Get six. And then if you have another 10 in you, Tyler, then feel it out there. If you get six and you know you're not going to get another 10, just fucking stop. Well, my first one, I fucking go and I pull, and it doesn't. I'm like, fuck, here we are again. I'm going to be embarrassed fucking deadlifting again. Oh, like your first rep. It didn't move.
Starting point is 00:37:54 I didn't get it up. And I was like, fuck. But I had talked to Jacob a little bit before, and he was like, you know, if you're the type of guy with the car deadlift who braces and pulls very deliberately, he's like, that doesn't help you in this. Because that works if you're using a very stiff bar. Because you can't just snap into it. And he said the problem is you don't get the whole weight until you're up about six inches to your pull-on. Meaning, it was like just like outrun yeah like just fucking crank on
Starting point is 00:38:26 it because the frame bends and then the shocks bend that's i was gonna say there was you he was like there's really you're not handling the whole weight so you're not jerking into four or five hundred pounds you're cranking into a couple hundred pounds so and then it's just like the bands kick in yeah so that's really seed the steel. And I also noticed their frame. Kind of came in. Yeah, they must not have a cross member. Oh, yeah, yeah. It must be much farther back because the handles,
Starting point is 00:38:55 like you could actually jerk them into a better position. Yes, I was wondering why it looked so different, and that was it. Because out is, the farther out, the harder it is because your range of motion's worse and i could see like on you doing it you would jerk it and that the handles would literally move in closer to your body to a better position so so i didn't but you know i've had two pretty humbling deadlift experience last one was there where i basically was like the worst deadlifter in three weight classes and was the biggest dude there and that's when i decided last year i was like i'm fucking not gonna be bad at deadlifting like i need or just need to get better
Starting point is 00:39:28 at it yeah and then before that was the competition before that was our first car deadlift when i fucking zeroed it again as the biggest dude in the competition so i was like i'm not fucking having this shit so after that first rep didn't go i was like motherfucker so then i just fucking yanked and it moved and i was like okay and then i got a feel for the position yep and so went for it and I was able to it was fucking looked like it wasn't as hard as it felt I think deadlifts are always that way I was like oh it looked like I had like I had that and in reality each one was like I wanted to fucking die and I couldn't breathe in between and then like the last one simply just did not move so i mean i got my six was everyone strapped in for that yeah yeah yeah and i got my six and that was uh all i needed you know just to stay there and dom came out and
Starting point is 00:40:16 cranked out like 19 or something to win he did more than yeah yeah um next event we'll cover the three next event was the truck pull uh really enjoyed that event actually what they did is the ladies pulled a jeep and they put people in the jeep as the weight classes moved up then we got like a big full-size dodge fucking like mega crew diesel pickup you know and same deal kept piling people so they added like by the time we got up there was like 900 pounds worth of people in the truck also i don't think relatively that it probably makes a huge difference other than it's harder to get it moving yeah how you get it moving in the beginning i feel like is the hardest part or is the most important if you can get some momentum yeah but
Starting point is 00:40:58 i've never trained that event either so it seems like you once you get it moving that you would still want to use a bunch of leg drive but it's actually tangled up yeah and there's too much slack and rope so what i did was i i did whatever i could but it ended up just being arm over arm just keep it moving yeah um make note though that we're talking now log dumbbell fucking truck pull arm over arm, and Atlas stones are next. So my biceps were very vulnerable at this point. But anyway, I ended up getting a pretty good time, like 19-something on that time, which was good across kind of all.
Starting point is 00:41:36 That was like a good time no matter what weight class you were in. So I was like, that's got to be okay. And I was in first. Dom comes out. And so everybody is within like a second i don't know how you come out and go oh i'm gonna take two seconds off of my time yeah i have no fucking idea how you do that he beat me by two full seconds just smashed us i didn't even see it though like i was like laying down and so and i was like what did he get he's like i was 17
Starting point is 00:42:01 why fucking yeah i mean i kind of expected he would win that. But every once in a while, it would be a nice, like, how about I just win this one? You took that event? Yeah. And then the last event was the Atlas Stones. And the stones were, I think, 250 or 250. I think 250. And then 300.
Starting point is 00:42:18 315. 365. And then a little jump to 365. Yeah. That's the top. The exact same stones that we used used at uh uh rapid cities yeah because they're jacob stones and we use those same exact ones and so we did um i'm trying to think how it all went down um trevor went before me and he ended up getting two loads so this is the same
Starting point is 00:42:41 deal last stone was for reps he ended up getting a 365 for two so he got through all them and i ended up getting the 365 for one um i was just gassed i took a little too much time in between stones to breathe you ran out of time didn't you breathe and tack yeah yeah and i and i could i've got one more, man, I would have needed a good 10 or 20 seconds, and I wasted 10 or 20 seconds in that. It wouldn't have mattered. Dom came out and got one stone or one of the 365 and then tapped out. I think he just knew that was all he needed to do to win. I don't want to tear my ass up today.
Starting point is 00:43:20 And he had a pretty decisive lead. I don't think he needed to do much to win. And that was kind of the end of the day. As far as other people go, Adele, one of our girls who trains with us, she had kind of just started doing this, so she trained in the novice division, ended up winning the novice class and did really, really, really well. And I think that will be something she'll do again in the future. I think you'll see her um my wife got second i don't remember where she placed out in all the
Starting point is 00:43:51 events but did really really well specifically on the rope pole or on the truck pole the yoke was okay she just had a bit of a meltdown on the yoke but i mean so it was fine i think she still finished second in her weight class on there were they um particular on the yoke uh as far as it's slight like if you could skid it because on a nice concrete floor you could really skid that if you want to um i think if you if you skidded it across the line either line before you at your turn or the finish that's a two second penalty oh really okay meaning really? Okay. Meaning you can't – Because you can drop – if you get a run going, you drop it, you'll slide seven feet.
Starting point is 00:44:29 What you're not going to do, though, is run with 800 pounds. Nobody moves fast with it. So at that, like, it drops and you might get a foot. But some of the – that's what was interesting is, like, when some of the other people, the lighter classes were going, I was like, geez, I don't expect lighter classes were going i was like geez i don't expect that i'm gonna move like that with 800 pounds i don't know but we'll see there's a lot of fast feats and i'm not doing that and i certainly that certainly wasn't the case for me
Starting point is 00:44:57 um but the uh megan did very well on and adele both did very well on the press medley like they got through their their log their dumbbell and i think they both did like upwards of like 15 clean and presses with the fucking that's a lot like they were both like just they were like like crossfit touch and go boom flip press boom like to the point where if i had to do 15 of a weight that i could do that much of unbroken i still wouldn't want to do it oh no yeah had to do 15 of a weight that i could do that much of unbroken i still wouldn't want to do it oh no yeah so the whole time i'm watching this i'm like man i'm sure glad my shit's heavy yeah i ain't fucking playing this game yeah um so they did really well megan ended up finishing second um in her weight class the girl who finished in first
Starting point is 00:45:40 is just really fucking strong um one of the women who finished first in super heavyweight class, I think she won, or in the heavyweight class, I think heavyweight class in the women's, is a gal who won nationals in that weight class last year. So the competition was really fucking stout. Yeah, this is United States strongman. Yeah. Not the one, the other one that Megan didn't do nationals at last year.
Starting point is 00:46:06 Correct. That was Strongman Corporation. And then my man, Samisi, who came and trained with me, he kind of got about the same time as Adele, like maybe a month out, five weeks out. And he also had to go back to Hawaii for two weeks during that time too. So he basically had trained with me enough to do some log and axle stuff one time. In that time, he built up to a 280-pound log clean and press without a miss. I was like, all right, we're good there.
Starting point is 00:46:38 I'm not going to push it. And the 300-pound axle clean and press without a miss. I was like, all right, I think you're okay. He couldn't get the 300-pound log in the pressed without a miss. I was like, all right, I think you're okay. He couldn't get the 300-pound log in the event, but it's like, well, Jesus, like I said, nor could most anybody in that wrestler. Who cares? He wasn't able to get the car deadlift up,
Starting point is 00:46:57 but it's again like we just hadn't fucking worked on it at all. But on the stones, and he did really, really well on the truck pull because he's just fast he's a fucking just a powerhouse um so he did pretty well on that how about the uh the yoke he did really good i mean he hated it too but he got like about as far as i did like he's and and has not been training this sport at all which is i guess i hadn't with the yoke either but we get to the stones which i don't train the stones a lot, but I've done them now off and on for a couple of years. He, we did one stone training session in which I kind of showed him what to do.
Starting point is 00:47:33 I had him try like the 160, the 200, the 220, the 260, and the 300. And he got all of those without a miss. Like boom, boom, boom, boom. And then had him try the 315 or the 335 at our gym and he got it lapped just fine i think his tacky was just rough because that stone's still a little dusty and just couldn't get it up and i was like all right i think you're gonna do just fine so he had done basically four stone loads ever. Yeah. Like ever. And then so his fifth, sixth, and seventh stone loads were a 250, a 300, and a 315.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Yeah. The 315 being more than he's ever successfully done before. And then he went and lapped the 365 and just ran out of steam to get it up. But like. Yeah. That's good. That's pretty good. Pretty fucking impressive. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:23 And I think he caught the bug to where he's like he's like all right yeah that's fun i get it i was like yeah dude because you're gonna be really fucking good yeah like really good at it yeah a little bit of practice goes such a long way and to do that well with no practice is fucking crazy yep but everybody had a lot of fun it was a fun group there was no like yeah every once while you get into a competition you get some people that are like catty or shitty or like you know there's always like one or two dudes you're just like fuck this guy yeah but there wasn't any of that like most of the time ever like like things usually are really fun group to be around there was no bitching or griping about the judging everything
Starting point is 00:49:02 went off pretty much without a hitch so and big jake got second in the middleweight class he uh yeah he was ahead by two points going into the final event to the stones yeah and it was a because he tied yes he was ahead of by two points and uh he did not get the fourth stone he is very close to getting it at his height that that's a way it's a high yes relative to his height you really have to have good technique yeah like he has to get it pretty high to get it over that bar yeah uh but he got did not get it and two other people finished with that same result as him and then the one guy did get the fourth stone and that was the guy he had he had had the two
Starting point is 00:49:46 points yeah so he because he if he just would have got second on his own he still would have won overall yeah but because he got second with two other people they split points yeah he ended up losing by half a point and he that's a rough yeah and he had said he wasn't after it was all over even still we weren't even sure yeah he's he's like. I was asking his sisters, and they were like, I think, we think, he's pretty sure he won, but he's worried because he thinks he did the math wrong. Yeah. And I was trying to think in my head. I was like, I think he won.
Starting point is 00:50:13 I mean, there was no error. No. On like the, that's just, yeah, it's a tough way to go out. He did really well in, from what I saw on the overhead press, and I think he got second on that maybe. It just didn't look hard for him. And the yoke, I think he won, and it didn't, again, look hard for him. What was his yoke weight?
Starting point is 00:50:33 600. 600, okay. And then what were the deadlift? I think he did pretty well. He did really well. I think he got second or maybe third. There are some really good deadlifters in that middleweight class. Yes, that Cedric Murphy won the deadlift, I'm i'm sure because he's he just fucking grabs that thing yeah just
Starting point is 00:50:49 goes yeah i want to say it was in the 20s yeah he's a good deadlifter and frankly that's not much lighter than the weight we were using right like i feel like that cedric could have competed against the super heavyweights and hung or won. Well, he pulled 655 last year in the deadlift off the floor, and I think he could have maybe done a smidge more than that even. He's fucking an exceptional deadlifter. So Jake was really close to first place,
Starting point is 00:51:19 and he can really do well in that 220-pound weight class. He came in at 219. That's his sweet spot, I think. He can be really strong, really competitive, and be in pretty good shape at that weight. Yeah, the guy that beat him is a very good middleweight strongman competitor. He's done several competitions and is in very good shape. He doesn't have a lot of weaknesses across the event,
Starting point is 00:51:48 and Jake was that close to being able to beat him. So it's pretty impressive. Did Alan Larson compete in the heavyweight? Yes, he did. What place did he get? I don't remember if he placed or if he was – he might have been in top three. Heavyweight was pretty stacked. There was a lot of heavyweight competitors.
Starting point is 00:52:04 There's just so many people. The guy that won the heavyweight, I've been following him for a few months, is really, really strong too. What was his name? His last name's like Rivera or something like that. I've got it on here. He's from Minnesota. I should know.
Starting point is 00:52:17 Yeah, there's some bad motherfuckers. That's for sure. It was pretty crazy. But all in all, it was a good time um again awful drive home immediately afterwards it's just a three-hour relaxing car ride no i was so i was fucking my biceps were cramping while i was driving and which is a bad situation when you're my height because where do you extend your arm forward into the dash or like the side into your wife's face all while driving 80 on the interstate and yeah it was a mess i was
Starting point is 00:52:54 like and i we had to switch driving situations like four times on the drive home and uh still i'm like every time we do these competitions, I'm like, I just, two things are going to happen after a competition. I am either, I need to get home and get to sleep because I'm going to wake up feeling like shit no matter what. So I'd rather wake up in my own bed. Oh yeah. Like really.
Starting point is 00:53:15 Because that last thing, and if I was going to stay there overnight, I'm going to fucking party. Like, because you know how it is. After that, I don't know what it is. Maybe just because. You got to celebrate. Maybe just because ours is a party. Yeah. It's to fucking party. Because you know how it is. I don't know what it is. Maybe just because ours. You've got to celebrate. Maybe just because ours is a party. It's an actual party.
Starting point is 00:53:29 But when I get done with a competition like that, even though you're beat down, all I want to do is I'm going to go shower. I'm going to be miserable. I'm going to get some caffeine in me. And I just want to drink. I don't know. And I don't mean want a drink.
Starting point is 00:53:42 I mean I want to drink. That needs to be the thing that I'm doing for the foreseeable future. And to the point where I didn't get that in, obviously, because I drove home. Or did you multitask? No. On the dusty gravel roads of South Dakota. No. So what I did then was the next morning i woke up and felt awful and sore so i did what any man
Starting point is 00:54:07 would do and made an entire bottle of champagne into fucking one giant mimosa and drank all of it and then the wife and i went grocery shopping but uh yeah it was uh it was a good time but um i'm probably glad i came home when i did because if i was going to stay in sioux falls i would have woke up hung over and had to drive three hours and still been in a bad way so um that's probably my best strategy i think yeah like i don't know how you did it when you were out. Well, did you have a couple days out in Rapid? Yeah. So you could kind of bum around. I didn't come home that next day even. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:49 So we hung out and got to relax for a couple days even after that. Yeah. So that was kind of nice. Yeah. So here we are, like, three days removed. I still feel like shit. So that's a real win. An 800-pound, you know, a heavy yoke would do that.
Starting point is 00:55:06 Yeah. Because I've done some heavy, really, really really short run heavy ones in the gym before and almost every time i don't know if it's because i'm not practicing enough at it or i jump too far into it i get done and the next day it's like oh my god is my neck out of place and like the back screwed up and like a really heavy yoke is you know that's hard to recover from there's a reason people don't train 800 pounds all that often yeah because it's just brute it's brutal no matter what it's really eye-opening to that like 1500 pound fucking bail tote yoke double that what the fuck is wrong with those people it's like who does this and you're like well really there's only about four people that do yeah yeah and most of them don't make it very far no and it doesn't even look it that does not look easy for anyone it also nobody there makes that look i'm kind of
Starting point is 00:55:54 glad they're not doing that this year because it also doesn't look interesting it looks like it just looks like a man suffering it's like dude just like it's like why don't you just hit him with yeah i was gonna say why don't you chain these guys up and beat them to 15 feet it's like dude just like why don't you just why don't you just hit them with something yeah I was gonna say why don't you chain these guys up and beat them to death like it's we were watching
Starting point is 00:56:09 the same thing like literally pounded out with a bat the longest to killing them while keeping them alive but yeah it was a good time
Starting point is 00:56:18 but that's kind of our our wrap up of the strongman competition yeah and the big news in the world of power podcasting poodcasting one step closer to number one
Starting point is 00:56:33 just chipping them away what are we step 99 now is that it's like a 400 step plan if we get all of their listeners of the power cast just immediately subscribe to us a 400 step plan if we get all of their listeners of the power cast just immediately subscribe to us
Starting point is 00:56:48 maybe we could jack what we should do is jack their feed and then just be like hey this week's episode of the power cast y'all go over to
Starting point is 00:56:57 massonomics and to Tyler's right Tanner Baird and yeah we'll just direct them all our way. Yeah. And be like, remember how you thought this was the PowerCast?
Starting point is 00:57:09 Well, it's not. You're with us now. I'm the captain now. So, but I think that'll do it for us this week. You got anything we need to hustle out here? Just a couple comment type things. you got anything we need to hustle out here uh just a couple comment type things we we talked like really briefly about that the uh oatmeal protein thing oh yeah yeah i got i saw that three messages from different people i saw the one on youtube that's yeah one on youtube and he agreed
Starting point is 00:57:38 that that's disgusting because he tried it and said it was the worst thing he's ever had i think he said his family also agreed it was yeah not's not allowed to do it. And he had an interesting recipe that he likes where he throws in eggs. I saw that, yeah. Egg whites into his oatmeal. I wish I knew his name. I'm not going to get to the names, unfortunately, because there's another guy that just messaged me today or messaged us here today saying the same thing.
Starting point is 00:58:03 What is his name? Mitch. So Mitch. And he gave us a big big long recipe of what he likes to use. So I'll give that real quick in case anyone wants to do this. Third cup Greek yogurt, one half cup heaping oats, quick cook oats, two thirds cup milk, one tablespoon chia seeds. Is that right? Or chia seeds?
Starting point is 00:58:20 Chia seeds. Okay. Chia. One half tablespoon vanilla, one half banana, one tablespoon butter, and one scoop protein powder. This guy's like a chemist or something? Put everything in a mason jar, put the lid on, shake it up, put it in the fridge, and then just eat it cold in the morning.
Starting point is 00:58:35 Oh, okay. Doing it ahead of time. I see. He's smart. Yeah. That's from Mitch. I don't know what his last name is, but... Slick Mitch the Ruler.
Starting point is 00:58:44 Yeah. I made that up. I don't think that's him on Instagram, but slick Mitch, the ruler. Yeah. I made that up. I don't think that's him on Instagram. It could be though. It could be, but we appreciate getting, you know, we, we always appreciate the podcast reviews of course, but we also kind of like getting these other comments with Tanner's crazy oatmeal stories. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:01 I don't, I don't have all the things we talked about. I don't know why people are interested in talking about that. Maybe this week, instead of asking for anything constructive or positive, maybe instead, why don't you guys just jump on some of our social media and tell us what you hate about us. Yeah. Specifically, not me. Specifically the other guys.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Speaking of that, so when I did send that message earlier to i sent that into the group text message oh what did she about uh about hey watch the arms on the table it shakes the camera sean's who is not within five hours of this place responds fuck you tyler i'll shake my table if i want which is the right response which is i initially i was like well fucking tommy because i was like tanner seemed to take that well yeah but so but that is going to do it for us today um we've got uh what's the rundown here let's start with the website i need you to go to massonomics.com they're going to find our store tanner, you've got some goods over there. Yeah, we've got the old Weekend Warrior style flex flask in the brilliant white. And also that sweet hat you've got on your dome.
Starting point is 01:00:11 Yeah, the Weekend Warrior lift logo in a flex fit hat. This is the navy blue option. We've also got it in black. As made popular by world-famous deadlifter, Caleb Woolham. He has been wearing it frontward we're doing a little more often i feel like he got the hint yep nice work guys so uh but anyway you can buy all sorts of goodies at the store at massonomics.com there you're also going to be able to find all our articles videos and all of our archived podcasts as well uh please go to apple podcast leave us a five star review
Starting point is 01:00:41 tell us what you like tell us what you hate but still make it five stars um that's the important part i think that's the important we don't know that for sure we just ask for it because other people do yep um go to youtube.com forward slash massonomics make sure you click subscribe if you really want to go deep click on the receive notifications button as well that is deep boom that's really neat you know who the only person i have that turned on for stan efforting really that is the only that's not a bad one to have it turned on yeah it doesn't it it makes a lot of sense that there's two buttons that like you'd think subscribing would actually do the function well one says i want to know what you're doing and then one says i really want to know what you're doing now i will say that the the receive notification is great in that like
Starting point is 01:01:28 youtube actually sends me an email and is like dude yeah stan efferding just dropped some real shit some knowledge bombs i think that's just what subscribing should do probably but some but you may subscribe to like if you treat it like a say spotify you might have a laundry list of things that then when you go to your youtube home screen you might have 30 new videos from the people you subscribe to so i do get that but they changed that recently and it fucked a lot of people over because they're like well i had all these people and now i don't but um but anyway that's the jam bacon and barbells was the guy wearing the sleeves backwards. I saw that.
Starting point is 01:02:08 He said there was no good reason for that. He just literally put them on like that. Yeah. To solve that mystery. Well, I really thought we were going to crack open some sort of new code. Nope. Nothing there. Bummer.
