Hello, happy Aloha Friday everybody, my name is Eli, welcome to Mayday Roleplay.
Tonight we are doing a awesome little one-shot back in Ashoka, we got some of our old friends
of here at Mayday and some new friends, actually since we're here why don't we just get started
and just introduce each other, tell us your name, tell us what you kind of do and stuff
like that and then give us the name of your character and why don't we start with, let's
start with Lex.
Hi, hello, I'm Lex at Tynomiki RPG on Twitter, today I am playing Kenom who is a loxodon
Seastrider Ranger and Grief Domain Cleric, Jordan, hello, I am Jordan or Jojo, I am from
the Cast Die podcast, you can find me at Brutalkind on Instagram, you can find my pug at Clem
the Polish pug on Instagram as well.
Today I'll be playing a Lapine or Lapine Rabbit Folk, level 7 Seastrider and level 2 Twilight
Domain Cleric.
Can some Cleric tell you?
Oh, named Kicker Bell Bottom, love it, Mark, hi, I'm Mark, I am also from the Cast Die
podcast, I'm the DM over there at the Cast Die podcast.
And I am playing Decker Breakweight, a level 5 Seastrider Ranger slash level 4 Champion
Fighter, who is a human being.
You got to clarify, do it again.
Yes.
Allegra.
Oh, hey, you're probably sick of my face, but here it is, I'm Allegra, I'm obviously from
Mayday, and tonight I'm going to be playing Tefrabazero, an elf sorcerer, 6 level sorcery,
storm sorcery and a 3 level in storm, oh my God, Seastrider Ranger, I jumped into this
literally this morning, so I'm excited to be here, I love my friends.
And last but not least, Akiya.
What's up, it's your girl, it's your boy, Zach, I made a roleplay, I forgot all other
things we're supposed to say, but I will be playing Gielfus, Chemisail today, who's
a Tabaxi, blade singing wizard, and Seastrider Ranger during the summertime.
Very nice, very nice.
As you can tell, we are running an all ranger-ish party, because why not, I love the Ranger
so much.
Lex is the one who actually built the Seastrider, which has been a very nice addition to the
overall world of Ashoka, and if you don't know what Ashoka is, we have a first season
that we just released on podcast form, and on VOD as well, it is centered around 6 strangers
who are tasked to take precious cargo to the South Seas, and it's a whole lot of fun, so
if you like what you're watching tonight, be sure to check that out, and I guess if we
don't have anything else, you guys ready to go, you want to start?
Absolutely.
Well, welcome guys to Ashoka.
Tensions are rising faster than the summer can cool into fall.
It began with the sinking of Tengu Atoll in mid-summer in the northern border isles, then
came the destruction of a Sasanian warship in the Windspire Channel in the Ropewood.
War parties leading ports to the southernmost tips of this archipelago, never to be heard
from again, wandering islands that are devouring anything in its path, and ill omen bright
lights that streak and scatter across the Ashokan skies, and with each passing day,
as night grows longer, colder, the flames of war seem to rise.
But our story begins as the sun rises on Takarava.
A crescent-shaped isle nestled in northern Ropewood, Takarava serves as a trade port
for the western routes heading to northern Pallas, Bunai, and southern and south to the
border isles.
It, on its outskirts, is home to the outposts of the sea striders of Odenau.
Wayfaring is everything to an Odenauan.
Many families and individuals have taken up the call to protect their island homes, whether
from enemy or creatures that lurk in the depths, the sea striders answer.
Two days ago, a call was received from the Port Isle of Belly off the coast of Bunai that
trade ships have vanished, disrupting supply chains in northern parts of Ashoka over the
last two months.
The arch citadel in northeastern Pallas claims foul play and encroachment to the Treaty of
Tides, but rumors of a luminescent monster by locals have raised the possible doubt.
The outposts have been called upon to find the truth.
As the golden rays over the hut of the outposts, a lexodon begins their day.
Lex, could you describe your character in a brief description of their mourning?
Kineng is a, she's small for a lexodon, but that still means she's like just shy of seven
feet tall, a little on the leaner side, more dexterous and wise than Ifi.
She wakes up next to a water genasi woman named Aje who just moved to Takarava from
Wallraven to be with Kineng.
Kineng gives her a little kiss on the head, gets up, puts on like some light robes, takes
her quarter staff ore out and down to the shore and begins walking upon the surface
of the water as all sea striders are able to do.
She goes out there and practices her basic forms every single morning.
She's practicing her magic, a little bit of shalely action and going through like naming
her griefs of over her life.
And this is sort of just the way that grief domain clerics pray.
They don't necessarily serve a singular god, though some do, but grief is really at the
head of whatever pantheon they have.
And so that it's a way to acknowledge your grief, process it.
When it comes back up, you're able to just let it go and speak it and that gives you
power over it.
Nice, Tefra, good morning starting.
How do you start your day?
Tefra is an elf person.
They're pretty tall, they're probably like 5'9".
And just like the classic elven vibe of like long straight hair kind of half pulled back
and live form and very classically elvish.
But they're wearing kind of like beat up leathers, brown pants, a green kind of long
sleeve shirt under leather armor.
They've got a spear kind of sling across their back.
And as the sun rises, they kind of pull themselves out of their little bed and climb up to the
peak of the highest point of the island and kind of just do a quick 360 look for like
storms, ships coming in and out, anything potentially dangerous or exciting.
And after that, they go back down and head for the beach where Keenang is.
Roll me a quick perception check while you're sitting up on that top.
Sick.
All right.
Oh, my storm dice.
Oh, it's caught shit.
Ooh.
Perception.
24.
24.
As you're looking out on the horizon and you're seeing the rising sun, just out in just lingering
distance, you see a bit of, looks like a bunch of clouds kind of starting to gather.
Right now, it's very still, but you can kind of feel it's shifting in pressure.
It might be on the horizon.
Nice.
We need it.
And as you're making your way down to find Peenang this morning, you kind of head towards
the dock area and there is a small little hut, just a little shy off the dock.
And that is where Kicker is getting up for the morning.
Kicker, why don't you describe your, tell me a little about your morning?
Actually, Kicker has probably been up for quite some time already.
Right before the sunlight, Kicker likes to rise, have a quick breakfast, kiss his brothers
and sisters on their forehead and then head out and make sure that there is nothing happening
horribly in the shadows just as night turns to morning.
He is right now probably returning back to his little hut and sees this form standing
near his hut and he leaps out to confront them.
Good morning to you too.
Oh, oh, sorry.
Just a bit excited here, aren't you always?
I smell Peenang on the shore.
Perhaps we should say hello to Mother.
Would you like to join me?
Wonderful.
And I do a quick little like circle around their legs and my ears perk up.
I'm like all white for the most part with just kind of like a little kind of purple
bluish tinge on the edges of my ears.
I wear this kind of chain mail that's built from recovered pieces of like ships and things
that they found in the water with epaulettes of kind of these brightly purple and blue
twilight color like pieces of kelp that have dried off.
I have a large kind of war hammer strapped to my back, a sling at my side and two goggles
on top of my head.
Nice.
Decker, how do you spend your morning?
Describe yourself.
Decker is laying in bed looking out of the, not a window, but just kind of like an open
thing there where he looks out towards the shore and rolls himself out of bed, feet hit
the ground and he stands with a little bit of a grunt, maybe a little bit of a sigh as
he gets out of bed and he's wearing kind of like linen pants at this point, his PJs.
But we see that his body is like covered in scars.
There's like, it looks like it was touch or go with some of these scars on Decker.
But he's deeply tanned.
He looks very much like if, he looks like if Till Schweiger, i.e. or otherwise known
as Hugo Stieglitz from the Inglorious Bastards, if he had moved to the beach 20 years ago
and like just really got into it, just like really got into that beach life, very tanned.
His hair is sun-bleached and he just starts kind of like stretching, doing some sun salutations,
working through some of the aches and pains, spending more time on the kind of some of
like maybe his shoulder where, yeah, getting that rotator cuff, nice and juicy.
What did you say?
Yeah, got to.
There's a whole drill bit Taylor vibe.
I love that.
Yeah.
He looks like Till Schweiger, but he's voiced by Owen Wilt.
No, we're not going to do that.
He kind of works through all these aches and pains.
He puts on his his armor and because he always wears his armor, he's very he takes his position
as a sea strider very seriously in part because he's not a native.
He's not like he was accepted into the sea strider enclave and he does everything that
he can to like illustrate that he is like here for it and here to be a part of it.
And so he dons his equipment.
He puts his he puts his hair up his his salty beach sun sun sun bleached hair into a messy
bun and and and heads down heads down to the beach where he imagines his friends are probably
gathering even now.
Last but not least, Gelfis, tell us about yourself.
Tell us that morning routine.
Gelfis is a black tabaxi.
He is very much domesticated, very like domesticated.
And he has a he has a long black curly hair, very much white Jesus.
And he has a white billowy like romance novel cover shirt, but the two front buttons are unbuttoned
because it's summertime and he has a vest that I should do not has about 50 little pockets
about the size of his toe beams all over the front and back.
And he just has like regular loose pants and boots.
But he keeps his hair in the tight ponytail and what else?
Oh, his whiskers are like like like kinky hair.
He has like curly whiskers.
Does he curl them himself?
Is it Maybelline? Who knows?
And one of his eyes actually when he wakes up, his eyes are both yellow.
But in the sort of skin regiment, he makes one blue for a little flare and he writes.
He spends the morning hyping himself up just very much like you are doing this.
You are powerful, you're great, you're a wizard, you're going to kill it.
And he spends time writing in his journal from the window sill, looking at his friends
on the beach for a while until it's very clear that they are waiting for him.
And then he makes an entrance.
Kylphys, as you are writing in your notebook and you're telling those affirmations to yourself,
you start to see some of the texts that you're etching eventually start to kind of lift off the page.
And it eventually turns into a person.
And it's a person that you're very familiar with.
Her name is Luxara.
She is one of the wizards of parlis and a headmaster at your school.
And she's looking at you very with a very coy smile and says good morning, Kylphys.
Headmaster Luxarya, good morning.
Morning.
I did not expect you, but I am so glad you're here.
Oh, that's good.
That's good.
I'm glad you're very good.
You're happy to see me.
I heard you went back south.
Is that correct?
That is correct.
I am here to volunteer, to know the people, to learn the ways of the old and now ones.
Sort of a cultural enrichment program.
We'll see.
Nice.
It's very good.
It's very good.
Well, if that's what you're doing, then I have something I need you to do for me.
Anything?
I need you to keep tab of any new things that come on the horizon.
There's been a lot of rumors lately, and we can't figure out what's true and what's not true.
Will you relay anything that you find back?
I assume you don't mean winter looks, hot, fresh winter looks.
No, definitely not.
OK.
Of course, I can't imagine it gets very cold in the south.
Oh, you'd be surprised.
Yes, OK.
That's absolutely.
And do I just write to my journal again to call you or you call me?
I know exactly where you are, Gelfis.
We'll be in touch.
And with that, the clouds just disappear.
But you have your rest of your morning.
I'm not dressed.
I go see my friends and my mom.
As Gelfis is the last one to kind of strangle in by the time you guys gather
together, you guys start to hear the sounds of conch shells being blown,
which is the typical horns that you would hear here on Takarava outposts.
You guys were known to that about nine ish or so you were supposed to collect
at the docks where kicker has his boat.
And you are to meet the elders of the conclave before you head out to see on your mission.
I assume you all head there.
I think my eyes, my ears perk up and I do that kind of like.
All right.
You guys head down there.
And as you go, you see about ten or so people.
A lot of them are younger members of the conclave, people who have been
maybe one to two years in, but the oldest member who's kind of standing
at the edge of the dock is what you all know as a Vero summer gaze.
He is the leader of Takarava outposts.
He is an Oda now in so he has about humanish features,
but he has a lot of animalistic features that kind of represent
like a hyena or a wild plains dog.
He has a darker complexion of fur that's with like eclectic about a spots
that kind of go around his eyes towards the back of his neck.
He's got a shaven sides of his head and kind of like this mohawkish kind of hair
that's dark, but it's kind of dusted with gray to kind of show that he's about
a very older about six feet tall.
And he's got a very kind smile and the horns are blowing
and you guys are kind of approaching and he greets you.
He says good morning to all of you as you guys kind of file in.
Good morning, Vero.
Good morning.
Good morning.
Good morning.
Are you all ready to go?
Always.
Of course, indeed.
Well, we are trusting you on a very important mission.
Whatever is happening out in the northern parts of Ashoka, we need to know.
And the very knowledge of it could bring war, perhaps we do not know.
Decker.
You are going, you will be leading this mission today.
And as he kind of says that, like, if you kind of like shift around,
you'll see that some of the other members of the conclave are kind of
giving a little bit of shifty eyes, but Vero kind of like gestures for you to
kind of like come forward.
And I do.
Teffa wolf whistles.
Well, now it's just serious.
God bless.
As you kind of approach, he eventually kind of just like spins you around
so that you can look at all of the members that are going to be joining you
on this mission, as well as the rest of the conclave who is here.
And the reason why there's not very many people is that, you know,
that over the course of the summer, it's been getting increasingly busy
for street or for the sea striders and seasonably even.
You've been asked to do more escort missions.
You've been asked to do more recon missions.
You've been kind of almost spread thin between all of the various
outposts that overlook the Rokewood and this part of Ashoka.
So, you know, that things are dire if you guys have been called upon
as you guys are kind of like the last reserved of the more seasoned
members of this conclave.
And Vera looks at you and he says,
this is a this is a great opportunity for you to prove yourself.
Decker, you understand.
I do. And I will treat it as such.
I will endeavor to show all of you that the faith and the trust
that you have put in me is not in vain.
Good. Remember to lean on those who are experienced
and he looks at Kyung and Kicker and says and learned from those who are not.
And he looks at Gelfis and Tepha.
Gelfis is offended.
He definitely thought he was in the experienced group.
Young pats him on the back.
Just like a big paw, big elephant hand on your back.
Tepha just nods. They know they're an idiot.
And the last and the last thing he does is he calls forward people
and they give you all each an item and they're both they're all magic items.
To Decker, he gives you a rope of climbing.
Gelfis, you get a staff, you get the staff, a Python staff.
Tefra, you get a dust of sneezing and choking.
And Kyung, you get a gem of brightness.
And Kicker, you get the last person hands you a conch shell.
And it is explained to you that it's called a conch of dimensions.
It allows you to use dimension door twice before it breaks.
And Viro tells you to use it when you think is the right time.
Yes, of course.
Thank you very much.
And I put it in my pouch and you see me kind of just like shivering with excitement.
Viro looks at all of you, kind of looks up to kind of like scan the horizon
and check the weather, gives you all a smile and says good luck to all of you.
And may the tides be in your favor.
And he sends you on your way to be in your favor.
Thank you.
And also with you.
Tides, yes.
Is that a Sasanian thing?
Yes.
Yes, this is how we generally respond.
Confirmed.
My brother, you must leave these old traditions behind.
You are now one with us.
You are right.
And I will endeavor to do so.
I think your old traditions make you interesting.
Thank you.
Is there any other information that we need to gather?
I looked.
No, unless you have any questions.
So I want to go to summer gaze, sort of give a formal greeting and say.
Is there anything else that we should know before we leave or ready to go right now?
But if there's something that we need to know, make this a lot easier.
All we know is what the port Isle has told us.
Ships have vanished without a trace, somewhere in the mid parts of the
Rokewood straddling East Parless and Southern Bunai.
You go there, you see what it is, see if the local rumors are true
or find out what exactly is causing these ships to disappear.
Either way, we must find those answers.
You have my.
Yes.
Kinang, with your help, I think that we can accomplish these things with your
with your expertise and experience.
I believe that the rest of us
will be able to make you proud summer gaze.
And and I that is that is my my my firmest belief.
That if lives are on the line, then time is of the essence.
We must push off.
And I just begin to bolt down the shore towards my little ship.
Kinang does not take a step.
It's days. We're going.
She stays in place, looks at Decker, takes a moment and just goes.
I have the utmost faith in you.
It'll be fine.
And then look over at summer gaze and say, like.
The rumors of monsters, what do you make of those?
I mean, you as well as I do, that they exist.
But I've never seen something so malevolent and consistent in one place.
That is troubling.
So who knows?
I've never heard of something that glows in the night sky.
The moon glows in the night sky.
Well, and the stars from the sea, my dear.
That's very good, Tefra.
You're absolutely correct.
Yes. And also, the elves used to tell of of little little creatures.
They were like jellyfish, but they but they swam out of the water and they would glow.
Oh, yes. That's what the elves told me.
Yeah, of course they did.
Let's let's let's let's let's not all the shiny things are bad.
No, not not all shiny things are bad.
No, but we could keep an eye on things that are shining.
If it is shining in the sky and also shining in the sea, then we can probably ignore it.
Reflections. Yes.
But if it is only shining in the sea, that is, will be something to take note of.
Could be a friend, I'm just saying.
Possibly, I think we have enough friends for now.
Oh, well, all right.
You guys board your boat as you're having this conversation as they arrive.
I've already like untied everything and I've like done most of the prep work
and I'm like pushing in the sand to like get it out with very little success.
Once once once you all see kicker
doing that, you guys help prep the boat for sailing.
Kicker, you know that most of Oda now and way
fairing canoes are a double hole canoe with a long straddling platform.
There's a small hut for lounging and storing of supplies and whatnot.
And in the back is your oars to steer and stuff like that.
And there is just a long kind of like crab like looking sail that makes the overall
and a pulley system that kind of helps adjust it to to navigate it and push it forward.
You also know that at the center of that mass is a slot for a thing called a gust stone.
It is a talisman stone that's used in travel.
It helps speed up travel by causing wind to flow through the sails.
And they're an item that has been created for the purpose of travel.
It's a very common item, so you would already have those on your person.
Awesome. My boat is it's mostly made of like bleached kind of like driftwood
kind of scavenged things as well.
The sail is not made of any sort of animal product.
It is made from like strong leaves.
Everything about my boat is cruelty free, plant based.
Oh, and as it pushes off, I hop up onto the deck and I give like three quick taps
with my back with my hind foot and I go, well, here we go.
And off you guys go.
It takes about a few hours before you guys finally are far and away
from Takarava out of the boatwood and finally into open sea.
The northern sea is just called North Point because eventually during the more
cooler times, especially around this time, water temperature starts to really
rapidly drop than it is normally during the summer.
And about two or three hours in, why don't you all roll me perception checks?
You get a sense of where you're at.
Of course.
New dice.
Twenty one.
Twenty one.
Fourteen.
This is a 19 for Dekker.
All right.
Dirty 20 for me.
Sixteen for Kika.
Beautiful.
As you guys are taking in and you guys have run these kind of routes before,
you all know that the Western trade routes are just not the preferred trade
routes.
Most people like to come through the Eastern parts, straddling Benai into
actual Odenau Island, mainly because of one thing.
Ke'an, you would be the first to Ke'an and Kika would be the first ones to
hear it, but you start hearing rapid water just kind of rushing kind of like
water that's kind of going over an edge, you know, like a waterfall, like a very
large waterfall and in the horizon on the, on the, on the bow side, you see
the edges of the rim of what's known as Dalma.
Dalma is a maelstrom that has been created at the fracturing of Ashoka.
And it is an ill omen area as many people have to deal with strange creatures.
There's a lot of different rumors about what may be in Dalma.
Some say it's a portal to another plane.
Some people say that at the bottom is a monster.
No one really knows for sure, but everybody knows it's just bad times.
But yeah, but other than that, everything seems more well calmed.
Tefra, you look kind of up the sky to kind of keep checking the weather.
It seems whatever storm that you were seeing earlier in the day is coming,
but it's trailing behind you guys.
So if you guys may at the pace you're currently going, you'll kind of
outrun it a little bit for now, but it is kind of lingering in the background.
Can I use a storm guide, which is a storm sorcery thing
where I can take the winds that are that are growing around us?
And can I put can I move them so that they're pushing our sails forward
and moving us a little bit faster?
Yeah, yeah, you go to you go to cast.
You kind of like go towards the end in the back where like Hickor
is steering the boat and you kind of just like put your hands out
and you just kind of that mild gust that's been kind of forming
just starts to kind of pick up and you just kind of guided along towards your sails.
Kind of just push it in that direction.
And it seems to just add more wind to it.
And you guys seem to be moving a lot faster.
I I give like a nod of like thanks.
And I I'm still just like every always I can't stop moving on this boat.
I'm like checking every little like rope tide, making sure they're all.
And as I look over to Decker,
I rush over to him and I say,
we might have rough waters ahead, but for sea striders,
this is how things go sometimes.
But as the one in charge and I put my hand on his back,
I say, I have complete faith in you and I use.
I use vigilant blessing.
I give one creature I touch advantage
on the next initiative role that the creature makes amazing.
Very nice, very nice.
That's great, because I'm about to attack you immediately.
I would like to go to Decker, I guess, at the back of the ship
where he's steering kind of like crouched down still like so huge.
I feel like the wood is probably creaking a little bit back here.
After seeing the little blessing has come over to Decker
and just say, hey, how are you?
How are you feeling?
I am feeling a little nervous.
If I'm being honest, I this is quite the undertaking.
But as nervous as I may be, I have the utmost faith.
In some ways, and the rest of the leaders of the sea striders.
So if they thought that I was the right person for this job
and if sense and sense they were
wise enough to send you here with me.
And I believe that we will accomplish whatever it is
that we need to accomplish, that there is nothing that could.
Stand in our way.
You don't have to think this ship.
Well, I don't often agree with many of the elders,
but it seems they have had some sense this time around.
You were a good choice to lead this mission and I'll be here.
And then she puts a big hand on Decker's shoulder and cast guidance.
So it's a blessing and guidance, a little like a glow
and then a little sound in your ear over your shoulder,
like the tinkling of bells and then she walks off.
With a little twinkle in my eye, I say, I look up to Decker and I say,
Mother Kinong is very wise, both in who she trusts and who she does not trust.
And I go back to checking the boat, just OCD like.
You don't have to call me mother, by the way.
That's still don't have to do that.
Yes, of course, mother.
Sorry, mom.
Mom, it's mom.
Mama.
Mom, mama.
I'm not that much older than Decker's older than me.
Yes, I am.
I think I'm technically older than all of you.
How old were you?
Um, like, seventy six, I think.
Oh, to live that long.
Oh, I don't really keep track.
I think it's seventy six.
It could be seventy four or it could be eighty.
I can't remember.
I'm going to put my my hand on
kicker's head to cover both his ears.
Like, hey, that's sometimes we have to think about how other people experience life.
And I'm doing I'm doing the mom thing.
OK, no, I don't.
This is why we call you mama.
Mother, mom, it's actually pretty cute.
I'm just really cute.
But no, it's we're all we're all equals here.
Decker's in charge for this mission.
We all have a mutual respect.
I have a question. Yes, you said we are all equals,
but also Decker is in charge.
Is that what it which is it?
Is are we all equals or is Decker in charge?
It's OK either way.
I just need to know it is a bit of a conundrum, I think.
But it is one that we all have our
expertises and it is my responsibility,
just as we are all responsibility, responsible in our own expertises.
It is my responsibility to try to direct these expertises that we all have.
But what he means is it means that sometimes when things get a little wild
and a little bit chaotic, then we have one person who can we all will listen to.
We agree ahead of time that we're going to listen to Decker this time.
It's his turn.
But we all listen to you.
Well, no, you don't.
Gielfus, roll me a perception check.
As you guys continue your conversation, that's a 19.
OK, sometimes on a stormy sea, it's nice to have a guiding star.
But I like the storms.
The storms are better than the stars.
Sure, but also when you're in a boat, I guess if you can.
I can breathe under water so it doesn't really bother me.
Yeah, and we can all walk on top.
So I guess the storms for us aren't that.
But like most people don't.
This is all metaphor and the are.
What they're trying to say is in times of intense chaos, everyone is on their own.
Oh, OK, good.
I understand that.
Exactly. Thank you.
Gielfus is not at all the opposite.
Just flip it and we're good, actually.
Full. Everyone is Gelfas.
Yes.
Key and Gelfas, as you guys are having this conversation.
Key, you start to smell something on the wind.
It's a smell of smoke in the air.
Gelfas, for rolling so high, you also start to hear kind of.
Just in the residual distance, like fire and the smell of smoke.
And as you guys are continuing this conversation, as you guys are approaching
on a little bit of ways about maybe 50 or so feet, you see what looks to be
a wreckage of some kind that's smoldering in the ocean.
Everybody need to be quiet.
We can have we can continue this discussion later.
Boats on a fire boat is never great.
Either someone's on it that is a responsible or just lots of things went wrong.
And maybe they got cold.
Yeah, maybe they got cold.
Would you burn this boat if it got cold?
Yeah. What do you think would happen next after the boat burned the boat?
We would walk on the ocean.
And do you like walking for just whole days at a time?
Well, sometimes I can swim too.
Right. This boat moves much faster.
Even even me as one of the fastest on the team, this boat moves much faster
than any of us can travel walking on the water.
And I will start to begin to steer the boat kind of in the direction of this wreckage.
I'm going to sort of like point at the people who are really stealthy and stuff.
So like, I guess, like kicker and anyone
who I know is like the stealthy kind, especially if you got the higher level
seven double feature where you can just like do whatever.
The ones who have like sort of mastered the sharks cutting technique of the
concave, which I've never bothered to learn.
You're just too big and too loud for it to matter.
And point at you all to sort of like head over from a distance
and like wave like the hand signals for the different
for the different routes that you should be taking around the boat.
Yes, yes.
And I wish that this was not my expertise.
But I'm sorry to say that that fire and and steel are my expertise.
And so now what I would ask is that you,
Guilfus and and and you, Tefra,
and all of those with dark vision now is the time to please to keep your head on
the swivel, because the people who have done this may still be in the area.
And so we must we must be very vigilant.
Copy that. You guys approach you guys approach this wreckage
and what it looks like appears to be a merchant galleon ship
that's been kind of destroyed.
And it's the remnants of it is still kind of floating around.
And there's just like scat scattered about of like detritus of debris
of like pieces and parcels.
And as you guys are kind of looking through all of this,
eventually you actually do see somebody
just kind of out in the middle of a small
like one of those like safety boats out in the middle of this wreckage.
It looks to be like a very old, older man with bald hair and simple
rubage. It looks like he doesn't have any oars.
So that's why he's kind of not able to to move.
But that's what you guys kind of see as you're now kind of slowing down
to the point where you're just in line with the wreckage.
Yeah, I'll try to get the boat within about like 30, 35 feet of the wreckage.
Um, can I cast message to try to talk to the old person?
Sure.
Um, by the time kicker pulls up, you guys are like 20, 30 feet away.
There's enough stuff that you guys could probably go out to him
if you really wanted to, but you can send message. Absolutely.
What would you like to what would you like to say?
I'm just going to cast message.
Are you we see your shit is on fire?
Are you OK? Do you have a plan?
That's it.
Now, my friends, I would ask that you be even more vigilant
now than you were before if these people have destroyed this ship
and left this man in in a dinghy with no oars,
with no way to propel his boat.
They have left him here to a to a much longer, much crueler death
than he would have had if he had sunk beneath the waves.
So please, we must keep that in mind that these people who have done this
if it is people who have done it, they are they are quite cruel.
I've got an arrow knocked in my longbow and I'm just hanging.
Are you going to shoot it?
No, just in case someone else comes or him.
If he's not a friend, I will shoot him.
OK, I think also if there's someone else, I will shoot them.
OK, that's fine.
I just if there is in charge, so I will just listen to Decker.
Are we killing him, Decker?
Let's not kill anyone just yet.
Let's let's go up and let's see.
I'll let the tension off the boat.
Sorry. Yes, you.
Yes.
Guilfus, please, you're messaging.
Oh, yes, Guilfus.
Yes, you had sent that message.
The first thing you guys hear in the distance is just like an audible,
just like yelp of this poor man who just all of a sudden had like something
just placed into his brain.
And all the only thing you get back is just a long, raspy hello.
This man is very confused.
He's like, now you guys can kind of see in the distance,
he's kind of like looking around and eventually kind of sees your boat
and he's kind of has his hands up in the distance.
But yeah, I think I look back to everybody on the boat and I say,
is Decker says, yes, stay vigilant.
And then I just and leap off the side of the boat
and dive straight into the water and begin to swim.
Are you going underneath the water or are you are you going to step?
No, I will.
I will like a torpedo swim towards this man.
Nice. Yeah.
You easily just dive under the water under the debris
and then you just pop up right next to the boat.
I've been taught by the sea striders about this
because I have fur and they're like fur is no good in water.
So they've taught me this waxing technique for my for my fur.
So as I come up, it just kind of like
gleams and drips off my skin and it's almost like perfectly.
Doc Bunny dry as I wax waxing technique as in waxing your fur
like putting wax on your or just that I'm ripping through my fur
that allows the water to just go out.
You're not just like a completely nude rabbit.
Was waxed like Brazilian wax.
No, it's not a Brazilian.
No, not that.
Not we're like waxing your hair and like gelling it up, you know, spiked out.
Hello, sir. I just wanted to make sure.
Big 90s.
He he's very startled by your sudden presence
and he's like, oh, Jesus, who are you?
Who is this Jesus fellow?
My name is Kicker Bell Bottom.
We are a squadron of sea striders
out on another mission, but it is always our mission to help those in need.
It seems like you are one in need.
Has anybody else joined Kicker?
And approaching this man before I kind of elbowed
to front to get the bow back up.
Well, Decker didn't say.
But no.
And Decker just nods.
But nobody else is joining Kicker.
Yeah, but nobody's joining Kicker with the old man at the boat.
No.
Decker, Teffra, Romy perception checks.
The old man kicker starts to look at you.
And when he when he meant when you mentioned the sea striders
and you mentioned that you're out on another mission, you see that like
what you expect him to feel relief
is not a face of relief, but a face that's starting to kind of
tighten and grow a bit nervous.
And eventually, as you're just kind of rambling on,
he grabs you by both of your shoulders and looks at you
and he says, you shouldn't be here.
And he kind of like looks you dead in the eye.
And as he looks at you, he kind of
tilts his eyes to the right as soon as he puts hands on.
Who rolled who rolled who rolled perception?
Decker rolled a twenty three.
I would like one.
OK, OK, I got a thirty one.
Yeah, you can roll one.
Shit, thirty one.
Mother says you should you should you should be in charge of this
of just missing you should as you guys are standing on the boat.
And as you're kind of watching,
the first thing you notice is that the man kind of grips
kicker on either side in a panic instead of, you know, what you had expected to be.
And as that kind of like keys up, you kind of just start looking around.
And the air is kind of very heavily filled with smoke
and it's kind of blocking some of your other senses.
You kind of look past that and you can kind of see off in like just very nearby.
Just what looks like to be a ripple of some kind
against the the terrain, like something is hidden behind it.
And Decker and Tefra eventually, as you guys kind of like take
hands kind of cue and start looking at the prize and you see another one
and another one, you see three little shimmer and they seem to be about
a small way faring boat size.
Can I do primeval awareness?
Sure. What are you looking for?
I think I think it tells me if there are I haven't played a major in so long.
It's fiends, face, celestials, fiends, face,
celestials, dragons, elementals, undead.
Yeah. And yeah.
Any of those those bitches up to six miles.
I mean, I mean, as you, you got you kind of dive into the
yeah, you kind of dive into those senses and you don't you don't sense anything.
Um, anything nearby, like exactly like in front of you,
you do sense something elemental ish kind of in the further parts,
maybe three miles, four miles out.
OK. But nothing nearby near actual vicinity.
I look back in this old man's eyes as I kind of like look off to where he's
looking and I say, if you are in danger and if there is trouble here,
then we are exactly where we are supposed to be.
As soon as I see the old man put hands on kicker,
I'm running on the water towards the boat.
Not my baby.
Not my little baby bunny.
Where's kicker? Just because that's never good.
Don't put hands on my pants.
OK. OK.
So you're heading off towards kicker.
Anybody else on the boat?
What are you guys doing?
You've noticed that there's three types of illusionary
shimmerings going on in the very nearby to you,
but it's not something natural.
Decker will start
since kicker is gone.
So Decker Decker will kind of try and
get to the helm
of the ship and prepare to either like
head into the fray or
head into pick up the france.
OK.
So, yeah, Decker, you immediately go and start turning the ship
around a bit to kind of put it into a good position.
Tefra, Gelfis, are you doing anything
right before we get into this?
I think Tefra is just switching like targets between the three,
like just keeping keeping cover on all three of them.
So as soon as any of them go, they're letting go and shooting.
Yeah.
Gelfis has, I'd like to say that, yeah, they have like a counter
spell in their back pocket, just in case, but they're just
hanging around, getting Tefra's back.
OK.
As you head towards kicker and as the man,
as kicker, you ask the man, say the words you did to him,
the old man, he kind of looks at you and says,
they are expecting you or sea striders in general.
They're looking to find you.
You're the ones who are in danger.
And as King is watching and as you guys turn the boat around
because now it's a sense that they have been spotted,
those illusionary forms disappear and what you see are three boats.
And the flags that are on the sails of these wayfarer rafts
are those of Tipeku raiders.
You know, these raiders tend to kind of hang around the border
aisles.
They're notorious for pillaging ships and stuff like that.
But what is very notable about it is you don't normally see
them running in clusters as big as three.
But there's three of them there.
There's about five or six men on each ship and they're just now
kind of in a line in front of your boat.
Does the old man look hostile?
I know he knows, but is he in bait or just like...
From what you gather with just your natural intuition
is that he seems very fearful how he's holding a kicker
is more of a panicked and like the wrong kind of person
to be showing up at this kind of thing versus being hostile.
I look back into his eyes and I say,
if they are looking for us, then they shall find us.
And with my hind legs, I just kick off his little dinghy
and go back under the water towards the boat.
Okay.
Deckard, Gelfis, Tefra, as you guys are looking on and seeing
these three boats come into view, eventually you see somebody
who looks to be maybe one of the captains, the leader of it.
He's an older man, grayish beard.
He's got high kind of armor, kind of furs collected around on him.
And he looks at all of you and he says,
how can I help the sea striders this fine morning or afternoon?
I'm looking over at Deckard.
I've just got my bow trained on the captain now.
The first thing you can do to help us is to answer the question
of why you have staged a shipwreck
and what it is you hope to accomplish by doing so.
If you answer us quickly and fully,
then we will not be forced to destroy you.
He kind of looks at everybody like kind of like,
he's kind of like got the whole crew behind him.
So he's kind of like looking back at all of them and says,
we didn't do anything to that ship.
We actually came upon it.
We were just protecting ourselves, right boys?
We weren't doing anything bad.
But here's a question for you though.
What brings the sea striders so far north?
Are those markings for Takarava outposts, far from home?
And Deckard kind of looks over to Canung and says,
we have our reasons for being here.
And just as I suppose you do, Canung.
Canung is going to sort of step forward in front of Deckard,
cast Thaumaturgy to make her voice three times as loud and say,
state your business with the sea striders.
Be gone and nothing will happen.
If you intend to inflict violence upon us,
this sight of the ocean will be your grave.
And Deckard draws a spear from his back and the sword from his side
and he says, do yourself a favor and listen to our mother.
If you don't, you'll find that this ship is,
we all very much love our mother and if you upset her,
we will also be quite upset.
You will only suck from the teat of destruction.
The teat of destruction?
We suck out my breast like that.
Oh no, not your breast, mother.
No, not your, no.
The teat of destruction is a metaphorical breast.
Okay, that's on me.
Thank you for explaining.
Are there other kinds of metaphorical titties?
Thousands of them, thousands.
I would like to learn about those at some point.
We don't have those with the elves.
There's, we have so many books about them.
I will put it on.
It's not the time for this kind of discussion.
You're right, you're right.
Sorry, mom.
We have to hear this man out.
Seems likely that he's going to, he wants to taste the milk from the teat of destruction.
But who knows, like, crazy.
And I turn over to look back at the captain.
He seems by the time you guys had taken the time to have this little banter,
that anything he was planning to say had grown far away.
Instead, he just kind of looks at the rest of them and says,
well, it would be a great hole to bring in five sea striders.
Wouldn't it?
We'll try.
You will see that once the milk from the teat of destruction
is churned into the butter of woe,
as you will find yourselves.
Dairy combat.
How Dairy.
How Dairy.
Mark, don't forget you have advantage on this initiative.
Yeah, and the anti-age.
It's going to be a dirty 20 for Decker.
Allegra got a hot seven.
Got distracted by metaphorical titties.
Thorn branch.
Kicker.
There are metaphorical titties as well.
That's a very good question.
Lots of theater here.
Kicker.
Kicker is a 13.
I'm still underwater, just.
Gelfis.
Natty 20.
There you go.
Natty 20.
12.
12.
Okay.
Fun times.
Gelfis, you're up first.
What do you want to do?
You see these men start to arm themselves.
They're on three different boats
that are kind of aligned with one another,
right in front of you.
You do know that they are kind of,
in the direction you guys are intending to move on
towards your mission is ahead of them.
What do you want to do?
Gelfis.
You're muted, love.
There we are.
Okay.
Let's see.
What did I have on deck?
I had a magic missile.
I think we'll try to hit.
We'll do...
We'll cast it at second level.
So I'll just fire two at the one who was talking.
The one you were talking?
Okay.
Uh, roll that damage for me?
Yeah, I got range for that.
Cool, see.
Then here.
That's a nine points of damage.
Nine points of damage?
Yeah.
That's a nine points of damage.
Nine points of damage?
Yeah.
Preparing to get you just pop off those magic missiles
and just shoots of little fireworks
just come from your hand and just
immediately knocks into this guy's chest,
giving him some good damage.
Next one up is Decker.
Decker will bonus action
cast Hunter's Mark on the captain.
The captain, is he within...
Spear throwing range of Decker?
How many...
What's the range on the spear?
It's not far.
Let's check it out.
It's 30.
20 to 60.
20 to 60.
20 to 60.
Alright, so it's 20.
If he's outside of 20,
it'll be a disadvantage itself.
Yeah, if you want to throw the spear, you can.
I surely do.
Let me just check my stuff here.
Spear, spear, spear, spear, spear.
Okay.
So I cast the Hunter's Mark on the captain
and I rear back with my spear.
And I say...
Once you have suckled at the teets of woe...
No, wait, the teets of destruction?
Destruction.
Then once you have suckled at the teets of destruction,
and your biscuits are about to be buttered
with the butter of woe.
Butter of woe, yes.
It's an 18 to hit.
On the captain?
Yes.
18 will hit.
And it's going to be...
Minimum damage, five damage,
but also we're going to get a d8 in there
for Hunter's Mark.
Oh, seven.
So 11 points of damage
with that throw.
Beautiful.
Yeah, immediately as Gelfis
had sent off those magic missiles kind of disorienting,
you just kind of follow up with the spear
as you give off your speech
and it just like lands directly
into like the shoulder part
just like right underneath it.
It's a good shot.
He took a lot of damage
and he's starting to kind of bleed
and everybody else is kind of just like
that kind of emboldened them
as they see their captain taking
like the front of the damage.
Kicker.
You're under the wall.
Sorry.
Oh, so what's that?
Real quick, Decker says,
well, my mother is not a bitch.
The owner of the titties
of lamentation is a bitch
and she has multi-titties
just as I am multi-attacked.
And I'm going to use my extra attack
to throw another spear.
Oh, go for it.
I know.
That's a natty 18.
Just missing that champion.
But that's a 26 to hit.
Yeah, that will hit.
Will that extra damage?
For nine points of damage.
Yeah.
And yeah, follow up with that other spear.
It just kind of like shanks him towards the side.
You guys have not come to fuck around.
Kicker, you're underneath the water.
Probably by the time you swim up towards the boat,
you've noticed like the popping off
of the magic missile.
So you know that something's afoot.
What would you like to do?
So I would like to try to,
one of these other three boats
that have manifested behind my vessel.
I would like to try to swim up on the backside
of one of them.
Okay.
And then get as far up kind of stealthily
as I can onto one of them, climbing.
Roll me a stealth check as you're climbing on board.
Wonderful.
We'll do.
Let me pull up my cash.
And roll a d20.
That will be a natural 18 with a plus six for 24.
Nice.
Yeah.
You climb on the back of this boat
and everybody seems preoccupied
with the initial engagement between Deckard
and the captain of the middle vessel.
Enough for you to just be now fully standing up on there.
What would you like to do?
All right.
I just my eyes for a second.
That's all they're doing.
My eyes are always moving around.
They just lock onto Tefra for a moment.
And under my breath, I whisper like,
there is wonderful beings who are luminescent.
And I reach into my little pouch
and I pull out the dust of like glow flies
or like fireflies.
And I shower it over these people standing on the deck
and I cast fairy fire.
Nice.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
So that's going to be a deck's 14.
Tefra audibly gasps and says,
look, shiny things.
They're good.
Just general.
Both of them fail.
So tell me what happens.
It is, it's probably, what's a good color?
He loves purple.
Yeah.
Kicker loves purple.
The twilight, the color of twilight.
And so he throws it up and just kind of this dust
of these glow flies sprinkles over these guys.
I don't even know if they notice it,
but it kind of like covers the deck of the boat as well.
And he just kind of like gives a peace sign to the rest
of the people at his party.
And then with his strong legs flips over the back of the boat
and dives back under.
Nice.
That's also the hand signal that the rest of the party
uses for kicker.
Yeah.
Oh, I love it.
Yeah.
You glitter bomb this, this boat.
Yeah, glitter bomb.
Oh, right before I dive off, I also do like my signature,
like three, three kicks with my foot on the deck of the boat.
Yeah.
Cast fairy fire, double triple tap, dump back into the water
without a trace.
And nobody, everybody's like looking around.
You see men kind of scattering, trying to figure out what,
what the hell happened?
What the fuck is on the ground?
Anything else you need to do on your turn kicker?
I think that's it.
Keung, you're up.
So this middle captain's getting beat up.
A little.
Am I, am I within range to just like walk up to him?
Are these boats like on the ground?
Like are they like level to sea or are they up?
The boats are about equal sizes.
They're both kind of way fairer type canoes.
So they're about, I would say 30 feet away from you.
So you could walk over if you'd like.
I'm gonna, I'm gonna stride, stride over there, over the sea.
And calmly take out my quarter staff, cast Shalely on it.
And at the end you see like glowing shark teeth going along the edge of the oar.
And I say, give you one more chance to walk away.
Otherwise, your home will be made at the bottom of the sea.
Are you saying that again?
Kind of in that loud booming voice?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
It's a really awesome sight, especially all of you.
You've guys seen Keung going in action as she kind of jumps down.
She kind of walks across with this very serious look as the staff just kind of turns,
even all raked across the backside of it.
And some of the, actually won't be intimidation check as you're walking across.
Some pirates fit their dance.
Okay.
Let's see.
All right.
Intimidation.
Whoa.
It's a 10.
It's a 10?
Yeah.
Mmm.
Some of the men seem to be scared by your overall presence.
It's more the ones that are kind of trickles in the back, but many of them are still kind
of prepared to take on you if need so.
But it seems to be a mixed bag feeling in the group.
Is there anything else you want to do on your turn?
I would love to attack.
I've got the quarter staff in my hand and I've got a couple of attacks I'd like to,
you know, give a try.
I'm going to attack with the orb with my first attack is a 25 to hit.
Who are you attacking?
Anybody on the captain?
Okay.
25.
Yes.
Let me, I have advantage because of verify rare.
Okay.
25.
Yeah.
That's easy enough.
Rule me that damage.
Oh, it's a one plus six points of magical bludgeoning damage.
And then I like to use my second attack instead of attacking to attempt to grapple them with
my trunk.
Okay.
And use my brief domain grappling ability.
So he has to roll an athletics check and I'm going to get to roll something real.
The name is on 16 for a second and then tipped over.
Oh, that's how I do.
He rolled a 19 on the strength save.
I rolled a 16.
So like trying to grab at him with the trunk.
But okay.
Yeah.
So you jump onto this boat and it kind of like just by the size of your weight kind of
like shifts the boat.
And then you just start to engage the captain who kind of like takes one of the spears that
Decker hurts to kind of like, at least defend himself.
But you're much faster than the quarter staff and you give him a nice crack across the face.
But then you go in to try to, to wrap him around, but he manages to kind of grip one
side of it.
And he's just doing enough to kind of push your grip out off of him.
And now your guys are kind of in this weird like in between of grapple and not grapple.
Anything else you want to do?
I believe that's all you can do on your turn.
Yep.
Um, that's the captain's turn.
Let's see.
Let's see.
Don't touch our mom.
Don't touch our mom.
Oh, shit.
Wow.
Okay.
Um, yeah, as he kind of, uh, like he kind of in the last attempt to kind of break from
this hole, he kind of pushes you enough to slip underneath your trunk.
And then he goes to quick draw his longsword and he kind of like pulls it out on a quick
draw, which you are extinct release can take a step back.
And then he goes in for a parry and then he misses you entirely.
Um, but now he's in a better, better defensive stance ready to take mom on.
Um, that is him.
Let's see.
Let's see the other guys.
Tefra does a 17 hit.
Uh, yes.
Okay.
Yeah.
As you are been kind of focused on Keon just engaged fighting and stuff like that.
All of a sudden you hear the sound of, uh, arrow wish by and then right into your shoulder
is an arrow knock.
You take, oh God.
You take five points of piercing damage from that arrow.
As you see one of the other, the, the ship, uh, on the left side of the middle ship has
kind of round about and now has taken fire on you.
Very rude.
Got one more for this round.
Oh my God.
Decker does an 18 hit.
It does.
As a matter of fact.
Same thing for you as you kind of like been kind of straddling your attention between
and now though the Yelp of Tefra and as you kind of turn around arrow straight into your
chest.
You block the above by the arrow, but you still kind of feel the initial pierce of it.
Um, you're going to take seven points of piercing damage straight to the chest.
Um, the other one is distracted by the fairy fire.
Tefra, you are leading the pack.
What do you want to do?
Um, okay.
I'm going to turn to Decker and say, do you want me to sink these ships?
I do.
Great.
Sinks them.
Fantastic.
I'm going to go to the front bow of the ship and you see they have like a bracelet around
their left wrist.
That's like silica glass, which is like what happens when lightning hits sand.
Uh, and it starts to like glow and it crackles up their arm across their chest and down out
of the other one.
And they're going to cast lightning bolts, twin spell.
So it hits both of the ships that Keung's not on because I don't want to hurt mom.
So what happens?
What do you do?
I'm shooting lightning bolts out of my hand and through, through the top deck down and
like down through and out.
Is there a safe for that?
It's, uh, hold on.
I was on the wrong page.
I'm a dumbass.
Hold on.
I'm not a dumbass.
What dexterity do these boats have?
Yeah.
On a quick draw like this?
Where is it lightning bolt?
Dexterity saving throw.
Yeah.
Okay.
On the boat.
On, uh, what's the DC?
Uh, 15.
15.
Let's see.
What kind of modifier these boats have?
What'd you do?
Nothing good.
Uh, I will do this to you every time I have lightning bolt and shows you lie.
I have a net one and a 14.
Fuck yeah.
So it will be that damage.
Um, and as a bonus action, but for flavor, can I say it's at the tame time?
I float with, um, tempestuous magic, which means I fly 10 feet.
So as like I'm shooting lightning bolt, I like a rise out of the air, fly down and land on
the ocean as it hits four.
All right.
Magneto.
Absolutely.
Yes.
12.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Well, there can only play non-binary sorcerers with lightning bolt in a showcase.
It's just the vibe, friends.
It's a trope.
23 points of damage to ships.
And also everything gets set on fire.
Oh, okay.
And I'm sorry.
That was directed towards the main ship, the middle ship.
No.
So it's twin.
So it's the two ships that King's not on.
Okay.
Okay.
I see.
I see.
Cool.
Yeah.
You do that.
You like, you jump into the air, like you're mad.
You like rip the arrow out of your, your shoulder.
Yeah.
And then you just take both of your things, jump out of the sky, cast that lightning as
it just strikes straight through those boats.
I mean, there's very small boats or the same about the same as your ship.
Um, and it just goes through and you just see like the ocean below it.
Just kind of like start to spark around.
Oh shit.
Kicker.
Uh, throw me a dexterity saving throw since you're down there underneath the water
and lightning just got casted and you're wearing armor.
And I'm a rabbit though.
But the dexterity is great.
Um, that is a 17 plus three, 20.
Oh, beautiful.
Yeah.
You, you, you can sense the.
The way lightning kind of feels in the air and you seem to dive deep enough to just see
the boat crack through, but it doesn't affect you.
It's very close though.
Yeah, I look up and I see just kind of the tendrils, kind of like reaching out across
the surface.
Yeah.
It's beautiful.
And then the both boats on either side of the ship just catch fire.
Full of lightning damage.
Men are now not no longer engaged in battle, but now looking towards the saving their
ships.
Um, with the exception of the men who are standing on the boat with Keung.
Um, as chill as he's been, this is an, a wholly new person as they land on the surface
of the ocean and take their full movement towards the, towards the ship where, where
mama's.
Indeed.
Gelfis.
Decker.
Both will me perception checks now that this loud lightning has cracked through the ocean
and you guys have made significant noise over this first round.
Uh, this is a 21.
Fifteen.
Fifteen.
As that lightning kind of just starts to kind of dissipate through the ocean and stuff
like that.
And you see both boats kind of now a light and now you have an opportunity to reassess
your situation.
Um, you both know that you're not here necessarily to fight people.
You're here to move on for your mission.
That's your kind of like taking a moment.
You're not here necessarily to fight people.
You're here to move on for your mission.
That's your kind of like taking a moment.
You notice something in the water starting to move and it's bright and it's, it's got
a light blue luminescent glow to it as it's kind of now darting and diving deeper into
the water.
And it starts to kind of, the light starts to kind of dim and diminish.
What do you want to do?
Gelfis.
You're at the top of the round.
You see that?
Um, he's going to call out, uh, we have company and, um, the third boat that's not on fire.
Some of our crew is on.
Just me.
Okay.
Just mom.
Well, I don't want to put mom in the water.
I'm one tough mother.
Okay.
Okay.
Given that then, uh, Gelfis is going to get into the water and, um, maybe like five feet,
not even get close, uh, but cast, um, oh, oh, oh, sorry.
Um, he's just going to wave his hand.
Um, he's just going to wave his hands and say, um, I think we should maybe shrink our
time that we're spending on this and cast enlarge reduce on the ship and try to sink,
not sink, shrink the, the third ship.
Oh shit.
Okay.
I love you so much.
Is there anything, um, I do.
It's a con save boat.
Yeah.
It's a little constitutional.
Constitution.
I like that word.
I rolled, uh, I rolled the 15.
Oh, yeah.
The DC was 14.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
Man, that would have been sick.
Um, yeah, you tend to kind of do that, but the boat kind of just like, you could see the
wood look like it's going to do it, but it just doesn't have enough strength to kind
of close it and shrink it.
Well, the like, well, Tethra is like fucking killing it all around them.
He's going to hold out his hands a little bit more and he's like, got him.
It worked.
God, he's going to play it off and play it off.
Anything else you would like to do?
Um, I'm going to hunters market the guy that shot, um, shot the arrow at Tethra.
Okay.
This is a bonus.
Um, okay.
Yeah.
You've hunter marks him.
Um, he's currently helping to tend to the fire on one of the ships, but you, you got him.
Cool.
Decker.
Um, you saw something darting through the waters.
Right.
You're seeing that situations are about.
What would you like to do?
Uh, Decker will, um, snap the half of the arrow that like right, uh, as it is kind of
like sticking through his, his armor into his chest snaps it off and he throws the, the,
the piece of it into the water and he jumps up on the rail of the ship and wraps one of
his arms in the rigging and throws, uh, another spear at the, uh, captain who's, um, the recipient
of his hunters mark.
It's going to be an 18 to hit.
Yeah.
18 will hit.
Fantastic.
It's going to be, um, four or five.
It's nine plus five is 14 points of damage.
And then in, in lieu of throwing his, uh, another spear or making another attack, he looks out
at the flaming ships and, uh, be speared captain.
And he says, your captain has already, his life is forfeit, but those, the rest of you
may flee.
Should you not, we will sink you to the bottom of the ocean and then you will hold those
who died immediately lucky when what happens to you next happens.
What will be your persuasion or an intimidation check as you yell this out to the, the last
crew?
See if they'll listen to you.
This is not, uh, not, I went, no, no, you don't.
It's a chopper.
Yeah.
You must now get to the chopper.
I was like a minus 17.
So 16.
Okay.
Yeah.
I mean, after they had seen one of you just burned two ships with this, both of their
hands and Keung and, and their tenacity.
Um, you're starting to see the rest of the crew also starting to get reluctant.
And it's looking like they would like to start to flee as some of them are taking steps back.
Some of them are looking towards getting their oars and trying to turn around.
My cat friend has begun the arcane ride to turn your boat into a tiny boat.
And then there'll be no room for you there on that boat.
Nope.
I forgot you were a cat for a second.
Oh, that's right.
Anything else you would like to do, Deckard?
No, I think that's it.
Any other crazy shit you want to say?
Yeah.
Anything else you'd like to go?
I saw my man.
I caught him monologuing.
It's great.
Uh, kicker, roll me a perception check because you would have definitely seen those things
lurking in the water.
Yes.
Oh, that's a natural 18 for a 24 once again, baby.
Yeah.
You were kind of at first looking at the surface, kind of just gauging what was going on, trying
to find the next opportunity to maybe assist.
Um, but then you, something catches like that natural sense of predation, like comes up
and you kind of like start turning around and you see something just dart.
Large ish.
Um, and you would know what this is.
Um, they look like sea lions, not like a seal, but like an actual like aquatic looking crack
and it's swimming through the water.
But what you, the unique thing about it is that they're kind of glowing oddly in this
bioluminescent color, which is not something normal of this creature, but they see, you
see two of them kind of like dart past the boats and stuff like that and are like circling
down and then they start to kind of like dive deeper, which you kind of know is like, uh,
you know, they're definitely predatory creatures.
There's, yeah, it seems to be stalking the boats.
Um, okay.
Um, looking looking up towards the ships just with that perception.
Can I see anything of value like sinking down into the water as well?
Um, with that perception check, um, yeah, you do see like a couple of like loose amount
of coins, a couple of like broken up crates and stuff like that that have like dry goods
and stuff like, like linens or like, um, not linens like furs and shits like that stuff
for like trade and sell.
Um, but nothing of a intrinsic value so far.
Cool.
Thank you.
Uh, anything else?
Is it my turn?
Yeah, it is your turn.
That perception was like just the top of your turn.
Oh, I love it.
Um, then I will, um, yeah, I will, uh, with, um, as much haste as possible.
If I see that these ships are beginning to kind of like sink and these things are going
into a dive, I will dash, um, in the water towards my own ship, um, and try to gather
any like coins or anything I can along the way.
Oh, roll me a d 10.
Actually no, roll me a d 20.
One d 20.
All right.
Uh, that's a nine nine.
You find nine pieces of gold as you're swimming up and grabbing stuff.
And then I just, um, you know, if I can for flavor out of the water and land on the deck
of the ship, I, I won't, I won't take any actions or anything.
Okay.
Yeah.
Your dexter is enough to kind of just torpedo out of the water and you just kind of backflip
and you land right next to Decker who's kind of standing up on the rail of the, uh, the
boat, um, just like on the edge of finishing his speech.
Um, and you're now superhero land right next to him.
Um, I think, I think it is best.
Perhaps if we make a haste at this time, uh, the battle seems to be one and over.
Great.
Um, you seeing members of the ship that you're on with the exception of the captain who's
still attempting to kind of engage you.
They seem to be reluctant to support his, his cause.
Um, but as you're kind of even just like in a passive glance, you're seeing that, uh,
back on the boat, um, and there seems to be something else going on from what you can
just gauge on a general sense.
Um, what would you like to do?
Um, I have a passive perception of 23 and, uh, I'd like to like just know if like in
the heat of battle, do I do it?
Like, I know there's something else happening, but do I see the lights or anything?
Are they nearby?
Um, you would have probably with such a high passive perception, you might have just
glance and seen just like burst of light, but you didn't, wouldn't have been able to see
like it's moving or it looking like it's stalking.
Um, but you've noticed that kicker is, is out of the water.
There seems to be something else going on.
And everybody is like waiting for me.
Basically like everyone's still, everybody's still kind of waiting in attack.
You're the only one who's currently like actually engaged with some form of enemy.
Everybody else is at a relatively safe distance.
Cool.
I'm going to look at the captain to, to lucky day, uh, and take a disengaged action and
run back to the ship.
Okay.
Yeah.
Mom, could you grab my spears when you're coming back?
I got one of them, but you have to be more careful with these.
Okay.
Thank you.
Technically, you guys are all on the boat now.
And although we are still kind of in a relative, uh, initiative, do you guys intend to keep
fighting or do you guys intend to run?
It's time to go.
We had our fun.
You should go.
Okay.
I say now we disengage and, um, uh, uh, Tefra, uh, and, uh, continue to disable these, uh,
the ships and leave them to the mercy of whatever it is that is beneath the waves.
Absolutely.
Yes.
Um, I've noticed that there are some, um, sea lions, um, um, ready to attack.
I'm, I guess they will attack those who are already, um, uh, destined for the water, um,
perhaps, but I've never seen them luminescent as they are right now.
Perhaps we might gain some knowledge from observing their behavior at this point.
Um,
It's your call, Decker.
You're in charge.
Um, I, while I do think that, yes, it could be helpful to witness, uh, how the, the attack
happens, but it is also very dangerous for us to be here.
Um, all right.
Then I start to get the rigging going and getting ready to move off.
I'm going to hold another lightning bolt on the, the main ship with the cap, the one
ship that doesn't sunk yet.
So if it starts moving to pursue, I'll let another off.
Roll me a survival check kicker.
Um, and take it there.
Uh, that will be a 13 13.
You, you get to the back of the boat and you hard kick the ore and you kind of get the
boat into a roundabout that's kind of getting in between the ships.
Um, I mean, between both of them, like one's, both of them are on, like two of them are
on fire and are beginning to sink.
And the other one in the middle, the crew doesn't seem willing to engage you guys any
further.
Um, as you guys kind of wedge through.
Um, who's on the deck?
Somebody roll me perception checks as kicker is getting you guys through the stuff and
you guys are edging your way out and away from the situation.
This is a 30, a 30 20 from, from Decker 21, 15, 15.
Okay.
Yeah.
You guys, as kicker is kind of pushing you guys out and you guys are getting solely
making distance between them.
You kind of kind of look back to kind of get a sense of what's happening.
What you do see is like two bioluminescent looking monsters jumping up on the remaining
salvageable boat and is starting to attach members of the crew.
Um, but it's on.
Um, knowing these animals does, I know that they are predators, but is this behavior like
normal for them to, to attack like this?
Um, you would not have knowledge enough like this.
Um, they don't tend to run in pairs like that.
They're typically solitary open sea predators.
Um, and no, they don't attack in open, open daylight.
And again, they don't glow bioluminescent like that.
They seem out of, out of sorts.
If you guys start to make your way further north as the sun starts to kind of turn
orangey and purple and I think it's time for us to take a break.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I promise to break a promise to break.
Yeah.
All right.
We will be right back five minutes and yeah, and welcome back.
Um, yeah, welcome back.
Uh, we're going to continue on with this one shot.
Absolutely nothing happened while we were.
Very normal time.
It's very normal five minute break.
We got it all figured out.
We were saying a breath of the situation.
Very good.
Very nice.
Non-stop gold.
Non-stop gold from Lex.
Oh my God.
Winner, winner, winner.
Got it from Mark.
So all the stops on there one shot.
I mean, I do it again.
So the day is starting to stretch into the orange and purples, uh, early dusk.
Um, as you guys are continuing further and further north, um, you guys are making a
lot of haste.
Quickly, um, as this twilight comes on, this is the first time that kicker kind of like
begins to slow down a bit.
Um, and as the dusk begins to ascend and the shadow of the sale kind of like covers, um,
his boat, um, he kind of crawls out onto the mast head and sits in like a lotus position
and just begins a, uh, uh, meditation.
Nice.
Is there anything you guys want to do as you guys are kind of trekking further north,
getting into this evening?
Um, you just endured a little bit of craziness.
Sure.
Where are you at?
Uh, I don't know.
I'm probably near the front or not at the front, the back.
I was thinking of the back word, but not the, I'm near the back.
Okay.
The run or duty.
Yes.
That's the word.
I was thinking of that word, but I said the front and because there was an F also in
it.
I'm near the back.
Um, Gilfus is just going to like, he's usually very, very elegant or well, yes, but arrogant.
Um, and it's like meekly walking up to Tethra.
Um, excuse me.
Do you have a moment to talk very quickly?
Oh yes.
I have many moments and I would like to spend them with you.
Okay.
Um, and that, what just happened back there was incredible.
I have many questions about how you did that and where you got your magic from.
Um, but that was also very bright and loud.
And.
Okay.
I mean, it wasn't just you, but if the wrong person was watching it would look like you were the only one using magic.
Just open in the sea.
That's not always the safest thing to do.
I just want to warn you to be careful.
Would the ocean be angry if I do magic?
No, the ocean is not alive.
No, it's, it's just, you never know who's watching.
And if you do too much, word gets around to bad people.
Not, not, not, not the ocean, but, um, my, my people, um, the, the Sisyons will, um, they seek to control all those who can do magic.
So.
I mean, did you see what I did?
I, I sunk two ships.
You did?
Exactly.
Yeah.
They can try.
I would like to see them try actually.
I think I could, I think I could sink them too.
Who's to say they're not already trying?
That I will sink them.
We sunk, we, we were there for maybe 20 seconds.
And then they were afraid of us and we won.
And then we left and they got chomped by bioluminescent animals.
We came out very well here.
Why, why should I be afraid of, of, of, of men?
Men from Cissan.
I hear.
I have lightning in my hands.
Yes.
Well, just be careful and don't be afraid.
Just be discreet.
I do not fear men.
I can see their boats and then they can't walk on the ocean like we can.
And then they just sink or get beaten.
So it's all good.
We're a good team.
All good.
Thank you for your concern though.
I appreciate your friendship.
Of course.
And Gilfus looks at Decker like hard, like.
And walks away.
From my little perch, just kind of like still maintaining, I say,
The ocean is alive.
The air is alive.
The space in between all of those things are alive.
We are being watched constantly.
But it is my belief that those things that are greater, that are within the ocean
and the air and the stars and the sea of stars are greater than men.
I think you're right too.
I think Keenung had already sat down to meditate next to Decker as well.
They're both clerics of different forms of faith, but sort of a similar practice.
And she just goes, yeah, men ain't shit.
Thanks mom.
Men are my favorite enemy.
This is, I trained all my life before I came here to the sea striders.
I trained all my life to kill as a man, to kill, to be a weapon.
And now I have learned that there are other ways and there are ways to be a sword that is also a shield
and to be an arrow in a bow that protects razors and hunts.
I've learned that there are other ways by living with you, with the sea striders.
And this has become my most important, I don't know the word, I don't know how to say it.
This has become my life to be this, to help you and to be this.
I think maybe that is why I was chosen to lead this mission
because I have a special understanding of these people and perhaps we can use that to our benefit.
Decker, tell us all about them so that then we can know all of their bits and the way they work and then we can take them down even faster.
This is my whole deal.
Amazing.
Yes, of course.
Oh, I think Tepha is going to sit down right next to Decker and lean her head on his legs and just say, tell me about them so I can destroy them.
After a while of them like, you know, gabbing about this for a second, kicker comes out of the thing and it's probably quicker than one would expect a full meditation because that's just how kicker do his shit.
But he kind of like slaps his foot three times on the mast head and he says, but they are right.
Gelfis is right.
Though there is time for communion with those and there is time for to touch the power.
We must be vigilant.
We must always be vigilant and watch those who watch us and goes back to his OCD kind of like checking the boat and stuff.
We must always be vigilant.
Yes, it's true.
And we must always keep an extra eye to watch those who would watch us.
Those who would watch us to say that that you can do magic or that you can do this or you can do that.
We would we must keep an eye to watch them.
And while our peoples are not at war, we must be vigilant.
You all talk like you're at war though.
This is onions are always at war.
This is the...
the jingoistic teat that Sisyons are raised on.
The teat of war.
Yes, the jingo teat.
Doesn't that get tiring for them?
I think they feed on it?
Tiring for me, yes.
That is why I came to strive disease with you.
Sometimes it is rather not war, but consumption.
And consumption to those who are being consumed often feels like war.
That seems like a terrible way to live.
That is why this boat is plant-based.
Three taps of my foot on that deck of the boat.
Kika, you recognised these creatures, the ones who swam and were force-fressened?
Yes, of course.
I describe everything, and I tell them how they are often solitary predators,
but this is behaviour that is less natural for them.
If we are seeking a larger luminescent being, perhaps they are somehow...
I don't know, I theorise on that.
Guilfus in your travels, or Kinug in your studies,
or Tefra in your strange-to-me-elven knowledge.
Have you heard of things like this where there can be a creature that becomes bioluminescent in this way?
Have I?
Perhaps exerts control.
Can we roll, like, a history check?
Can you roll me a nature check?
Oh boy.
Oh boy! 18.
16.
18.
16.
And what were you guys enquiring?
If we know anything about these bioluminescent sea lions.
Or if there's a creature that can exert its will over other creatures in a way.
You know, naturally, that there are some creatures of the deep
and throughout Ashoka that have some level of bioluminescence where they emanate a glow and stuff like that.
You know that these particular creatures don't have a variation that necessarily does that.
And you, though, have a lot of knowledge of overall nature and the BC areas over your studies of being in the Conclave.
There isn't a creature that comes to mind that would actually imbue another creature with light like that,
or change their behaviour in that kind of way.
Would I be aware of any, like, experiments or methods that certain people are trying out?
I mean, you do know that up where you are from there, nothing is impossible.
It's meant to fuel Sasan's goals.
So it is something that kind of is in the back of your mind, but you're not sure if that is the answer.
I think Keenan's going to be listening to this and then look around for any sort of animals that might be like
birds or fish. I know it's getting dark or whatever, but does she see any animals around?
Sure. Yeah, you, by the time you guys have had this talk and settled in for the evening,
it's now getting well into the night.
You're starting to see a lot of the stars starting to break through and it's a very nice, calm, quiet night.
You don't see any birds anymore, given how late it is, but as you continue on through the night
and you're watching and stuff, eventually, maybe an hour, maybe two hours in,
you start seeing little blue light just kind of darting through the water.
They're very tiny though, like small fish kind of moving, but as they're kind of breaking the tension of the water,
it's causing this like burst of blue light.
And Keenan, as you kind of continue to just stare out as you guys are just, you know,
your hell bent on moving towards the north where you're told to kind of start investigating,
as you start to, as the night starts to kind of carry on, you start to kind of just feel something in your presence.
You're very attuned with, you know, the world around you and you just feel something on like the horizon,
something that just is attracting you, like drawing you, something that kind of is centric around what you,
like, study over your dominion and stuff like that.
And you seem to kind of have a good sense of where you should go.
Is it not in the place that we're on right now?
It is in the direction that you're going currently.
So you kind of have that feeling that you are on the right path.
But it is getting well into evening.
You guys have had like dinner and stuff like that.
You guys could even start to settle in for the night for watch, if you guys would like,
say two people on this first watch.
Delfus.
Anybody else?
Yeah, I'll take first watch as well.
I should partner with someone who has dark vision as I do not have the ability to see at night.
I'll go with you, Tucker.
Thank you.
I guess I'll take third watch.
Is that right?
Yeah, take last watch.
Before I head to rest, which I very much don't want to do, but I know that it is necessary.
I will approach Gelfus and I will say, your reminder of vigilance is always helpful.
Thank you so much.
And I will put my paws out to them.
Oh, they put their paws in your paws.
And I will give you vigilant blessing and you have advantage on your next initiative role.
It's a Baxiana bunny.
Just holding hands, man.
Thank you.
Thank you.
But you don't need to just cover bases.
Of course.
I'll head down into my little area.
Gelfus can only perception checks as you take your watch.
Thanks.
27.
Cool.
Cool 8.
You're on the oars, Gelfus.
So you're kind of preoccupied more looking at the sky than you are looking at around you.
Trying to make sure you're keeping a steady heading.
But, Kim, you had started to start to feel that draw, that push forward.
You're going in the right direction.
You have a sense that this is the right path.
And you've been kind of watching those little schools of like fish kind of like making the sea kind of just turn a little just burst of little blue all around.
But eventually as you're kind of just like watching that and looking at the water, you start to see something in the water.
And as you kind of look closer, you're starting to make out what looks like the outlines of ship.
That's just below the water, but just enough to kind of be high enough to that could potentially affect your boat if you're not paying attention.
But as you keep looking, it looks like to see just a bunch of shipwreckages.
Shipwreckages like down beneath, are they like following us?
No, they're underneath the water.
They're not moving, but there just seems to be a lot of it kind of like stacked almost on top of each other and just like around.
It's making the terrain look a little bit difficult.
Galfus, by now you would have kind of started to notice that eventually that there are like a bunch of boats just underneath the water.
You kind of actually, since you're not quite paying attention, you kind of scrape a little bit and you kind of hear it kind of run along one of the sides of your boat.
And you kind of adjust it a little bit to kind of start to move around it.
But you're seeing a lot of wreckage or remnants of wreckage underneath the water.
Steady now.
Okay.
Should we wake the others or just keep going?
Nothing's happened yet, but we should be vigilant as you could say.
What's going on there, by the way?
What's going on?
It was just a tender moment, I don't know.
You have crushed on any of your little friends?
I do not.
I am here for a mission.
And that's it. I'm here to get, have an incredible summer essay, post-summer essay, and collect these volunteer hours. That's it.
I have no time for love. I don't even, I'm too strong for love.
Oh, oh no. I opened my heart to love it didn't make me any weaker, it made me stronger.
Yes, but you live where, you know, love is everywhere. It's old and old, hug your friends, start a family, have a fun.
It's not like that everywhere.
Yes, the old and now-and-farm dream.
Exactly, it's very core.
You're here half the year, right? You're here half the year, that's a lot of time.
I don't know, I'm just saying, look, I don't want to pry, I'm just saying.
Thank you, mom.
Okay, look, it's totally fine. Just a nice moment, I don't know.
Tethra's very, very talented and looks very cool and is very nice and optimistic and it doesn't really make a lot of sense how they can do that the way the world is.
It confuses me and I'm probably the smartest person on the boat.
So that's saying a lot, but that's it.
Look, next time you talk to Tethra, just come over to me first, I'll pass a little guidance on you.
You're not using magic to help me flirt, mom.
Why not?
It's just a little guidance, it's a little guidance.
Save it for whatever, the sea lions or whatever.
I can do blessed too, bless you, bless Tethra.
She's helping you be your best you.
Decker wakes up.
No, you should listen to mom, she says these things.
No, yes, it's mom.
She rolls back over.
We don't have to talk about this anymore.
Thank you.
Really, I'm going to be quiet and keep watch, look at the patterns of the floor, but just wanted to get a little chat and embarrassing me.
You look over and Tethra is starfished, flat on the stomach, drooling as they, as they trans, they don't trans like pretty like an elf does.
So good.
The rest of your watch, Gelfas and Keung and go pretty unerupted, you do have to keep kind of weaving between this kind of central wreckage, but other than that, nothing else.
But it is time to switch out with Decker and Tethra, as you guys settle in for some sleep.
I'm going to talk to Decker first so that the other two have to talk.
Yes, I would imagine that Decker wakes up a little bit early so that he can speak to Keung first, just to kind of get the lay of the land and to speak to her for a moment alone.
Yeah, there's a lot of shipwrecks under here, obviously very troubling.
We were able to weave our way through, we should keep an eye out.
We do want to be ready, looks like something's sinking in these ships and we are on a ship that's awfully convenient.
Right, so we should keep our eyes out then as we go forward.
But listen, you know, the real question I want to ask you is, what's going on with Gelfas and Tethra?
Do you think there's something there or do you think this is just boat friends?
Boat friends, you know, the kids now with the boat friends.
I mean, it's just boat friends all the time with these guys, they say, I don't know, I'm just having boat friends.
There's nothing wrong with just being boat friends.
There's nothing wrong with, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being boat friends.
I'm just saying it's, you know, I just think it's good together, that's all.
He finds a new spell or, you know, he's doing this, you know, a show of magic, but, you know, he rattled off a bunch of compliments about Tethra.
It's nice to see them, they're getting along.
It's nice to see, yes, it's nice to see them as they get together so well and that's all I'm saying, you know.
None of my business, you know, I just want to, I just like to support.
Maybe subconsciously it happens, but from below deck, you hear three taps of a boat.
That's amazing.
I love it.
And then I'm just going to like very, trying to be inconspicuous, but just very obviously staring at Gilda and Tethra just to see how that's going.
All right, well, listen, we would keep an eye on the water and make sure that there's nothing there beneath the waves.
We keep an eye out for, especially for glowing creatures.
And I will speak to you in the morning.
Good night.
Good night, mom.
Gelfers, Tethra, anything to say before we move into this watch?
Tethra, it's your turn.
Tethra sits up and like the wind that has been kind of going around them, they use their, what should we call it, whatever it's called, storm guide.
Nope, yeah, storm guide to like take the gust and like fix their hair really quick.
Hi. Good morning.
Hello. I just want to tell you it's your turn to watch.
You look pained. Are you okay?
No.
They're going to like immediately like scoop their, their hand and 10 little berries are going to appear and they're going to cast good bear.
Do you need, do you need help? You seem like you're, you just seem unhappy and uncomfortable and pain for a moment.
I'm going to, I'm going to take their, their sweet little, little hand and like pour the berries in and just like hold their hand in my hand.
I think going back to the Sasandians are always at war.
Gelfers just cast major on it.
Whoa.
Are you scared? That's real.
Just launch good berries.
That was on accident. You never know constant vigilance. Thank you so much.
You're going to sleep though. I won't let anything happen to you while you're sleeping.
That's incredible.
Like the whole thing in their mouth.
That's great. You are doing great. Thank you so much.
You're also doing great. I'm really proud of you.
Good night.
Oh, good night. I'm sure you're tired. Sleep well.
And so sleepy and go to sleep.
I think, I think we're sleeping in the hut, right?
Yeah, in the hut.
Yeah, so we're just sitting there waiting for good feedback.
So how'd it go?
Okay.
I just want you to be happy.
When Tefra gets to their post, Decker is saying there's like,
Have you done your hair?
Did you? It seems as if you have done your hair.
The wind must have been the wind.
The wind must have had a curling iron to something.
I think it's the salt air.
My elven hair is unused to this salt air.
I know I've been here for a while, but sometimes it just, whoop, it just, whoop.
Does it a little extra?
I suppose, yes, there is a little whoop, a little extra. Yes, of course.
Yes.
Now, I suppose we should watch for the force present beast.
Yes.
Okay.
I'm excited to do this with you, Decker. This is going to be fun.
Me too.
Roll me perception checks, Decker.
Unfortunately, roll me that at disadvantage since it is dark as shit outside.
Oh, it's gonna be 13 for Decker.
18 for Tefra.
18 for Tefra.
Tefra, since you are the only one with dark vision, you're most likely the one manning the oars.
You're keeping the boats off this. You just, you can see more of this ship wreckage.
But as you kind of get deeper into this area, you're noticing that like more and more of the sea life seems to be alive and glowing.
And it's just now just like shimmery blue looking sea that is kind of glowing out for miles and miles on that.
It looks pretty. It's very nice. It's very calm and eerily quiet.
Wow. See, it's what Kicker said. It's alive.
It's the ocean.
Yeah. I mean, I knew the ocean was alive. I live, you know, in the, but like, it's so nice to see it.
Yes, I suppose you know that the ocean is alive in the ways that all elves know that the ocean is alive.
The forest is alive.
Obviously.
But yes, in a very real way, the ocean is alive. Yes, it's an ecosystem.
Do the Sisyons not think things are alive?
Does the Sisyons think that things are to be conquered?
That, um...
Wow.
That there is a...
Deffra, I don't know.
I wish that I knew.
I wish that I could tell them that there is not just a world that is waiting for order to be imposed on it.
But a world full of wonder and magic and all these things that we don't quite understand.
But the Sisyons, my people say, they feel that they must impose order.
And so...
Well, how do they know what's ordered if everything gets ordered?
If there's nothing to order, then they don't have order and...
Well, like, what's the point then?
These are questions I can't answer.
These are the questions that made me stop.
These are the questions that made me say these people must be stopped.
I'll help you stop them. They make you and Gelfas sad.
And I cannot speak for Gelfas, but I imagine I'll only speak for myself when I...
Oh, we got a little weird accent wise.
I will only speak for myself.
Now it's gone. Now it's gone.
It's not German anymore. He's Irish.
I can only speak for myself.
I can only speak for myself?
What did I say to you?
Don't take Irish.
Don't...
Yeah, you get bitten by one Irish person and all of a sudden you can't speak anything but Irish anymore.
He says yes, no, yes.
That is why I had to...
You got it, you girl. You're okay.
We must find a way to tell these people that there is another way.
And I am so grateful that you and the rest of the people here are the ones who will help me to do it.
It feels important.
He doesn't say anything because he's worried about getting his accent wrong.
Keong, you've kind of fallen asleep and you kind of start to drift into a bit of a dream
and you start to kind of think about those bioluminescent fishes the way that they kind of scatter and dart across.
Kind of like the stars in the sky, kind of how the universe keeps moving and stuff.
But as you kind of remember those fish just darting back and forth, you just start feeling that pull again.
And it takes you kind of beyond the ship down into the waves underneath.
And it's cold and you can just feel it.
Just a strong emotion of sadness and anger and rage that seems to just dwell.
And as you kind of focus on it, you just all of a sudden just start to wake up as if you're taking it back by what you're feeling.
I think there's tears in her eyes and she just lets them out and just breathes through it.
And when there's big emotions, if you push them down and put them away, they're just going to fester and rot.
So she just kind of sits up, takes a deep breath, gets into a sort of meditative pose
and then just like breathes through all those feelings however long it takes until they become like manageable,
like feeling them fully rather than trying to like push them down.
You wake up, Decker and Tefra, you see Keon startling wake up and then immediately go into a meditative pose
and you kind of do as you say, kind of allow that emotion to kind of ride and wave and you feel it.
And as you're kind of letting it wash over you and stuff like that, you just get this kind of like whisper in the back of your head
that just says, stop, you're here.
She gets up, puts a hand on, I guess Decker's steering the ship, puts a hand on Decker's hand with the door,
looks at just like, we're here.
Then I'm going to go walk and like wake up, Kecker and Guilfess.
If we are here, then we are here.
Yeah, Kecker, even you, like when Keon kind of wakes you up, though you're not of the same dominion,
but you are someone who is in tune with a higher power or the world and stuff like that, you too feel this weird uncomfortable pressure.
Like kind of like, you know how an animal kind of has an instinct that something is bad here and you shouldn't be here, you should move on.
That's a feeling that kind of washes over you as Keon gently wakes you.
We're here.
I'm feeling that pressure.
Yeah, probably like an animal before like a storm or something that kind of like that pressure.
I switch into my like very active mode and I go to check on everybody.
I make sure everybody's awake very quickly and everybody except for Decker has dark vision.
I don't have dark vision.
Okay.
Oh, okay.
Great.
Then I both, I grant you both dark vision, up to 300 feet of dark vision.
Decker's like, holy shit.
Yes, the world brightens.
Oh my God.
Stars are like.
This is like what you guys see just like all the time.
Yeah.
Yes, half the time.
Yeah.
It's called Eyes of the Night.
It's a broken feature for the Twilight Cleric.
I can grant two creatures I see within, that I can see within 10 feet of me, 300 feet of dark vision, which I also have.
And it's just kind of, I just say, I whisper under my breath as I looked at both of them.
Stay vigilant.
Very good, Decker.
I don't think I have any choice now, but to stay vigilant.
I can see everything for 300 feet.
You're the who.
I just throw a dagger and it smacks a seagull out of the air.
He was stealing my wallet.
It's not, he was a bad seagull.
Oh, okay.
He deserved it.
I definitely, as soon as I get the dark vision, I'm looking around for the source of whatever I was feeling.
Like, I know we're supposed to stop here.
That means something is afoot.
You walk around with your generally high perception and your intuition and stuff like that.
The surface is just still, still ocean.
Nothing seems to be here.
But then you start to kind of feel that, that, that pull is asked, is like pulling you down below the water.
Hmm.
Everyone, I don't think, I don't know if this is what we should do next.
However, there's something beneath us under the water.
I believe it's what we came here to deal with.
But it's nighttime.
And diving into the dark seems ill-advised.
Decker, captain of the mission.
What do you think we should do?
I think in this moment that the best thing to do is to, for me to say, for me to say is the best thing to do is to listen to Mother and say, what do you say that is the best thing to do?
Hmm.
She's gonna take out the gem of brightness.
And is going to.
Oh, I'm going to tie a rope around it.
And then say the command word.
Maybe a command phrase, let there be light.
And the gem sheds bright light on a 30 foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet.
This doesn't expect to charge.
And I can just, I'm going to like, slowly drop it into the depths below to see if there's like anything that we can see as the light kind of travels down towards the bottom.
Okay.
Yeah.
As you put the gem into the water and slowly as it sinks below the surface, the initial thing you can see is more and more and more ship wreckages.
It's a lot of it.
And it just as you keep going down, you start to seeing more of the shapes of just in that 60 radius of just ships.
And it seems to be like the more as it goes down and you look further, it seems to be in an odd shape looking kind of pattern, as if it's kind of like rippling out from some from one area and like going into a centralized point.
There's some sort of epicenter where the ships are.
Some type of epicenter.
Yes.
Are there any animals in the water right now, Eli?
You can see that a lot of like schools of fishes like like a level of sea life has come to like make home here.
So that this has been here around long enough to attract these kinds of animals and for them to start making settlements and homes out of these several wreckages.
Does the fish seem as if they are perturbed by these wreckages by this energy that is here?
They seem unbothered by it, but they all have that luminescent glow about them as they are shifting through the water.
I can go ask them.
Yes, I read my mind.
This is a good idea for you to ask them, but please, when you ask them, stay on the boat.
I don't know if I can do that on them.
Well, they're in the water and I'm out of the water.
You would know that you have a fishing rod.
Just put your head under the water.
Oh, that's a good one.
I could get you a fish.
Oh, yeah, why don't you put your head under the water?
That's a great idea.
Yes, please bring a fish in for questioning.
That would be awesome.
Actually, yeah, can you go get a fish?
Sprints.
Sprints to the edge of the boat and tries his best to catch a fish.
Tobaxi speed.
You're going to catch it just with your hands.
I think at this point.
You do know that you have a fishing rod on shit.
Yes, I am aware.
He's going to get used to get all the way in the water.
That's fine.
Whatever it takes.
Roll a survival check at disadvantage.
I mean, that's fine.
I thought I could stand on the water.
I just want to say in this moment, there's a lot of debate in
how fish, fish is as to the plural of fish.
I have chosen to use the word fish.
So I rolled 219.
219.
Yeah, let's do it.
Yes.
With survival.
That's a minus.
Minus one.
Was that a minus one?
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
The 18 is fine.
Yeah, you jump onto the surface of the water and as you kind of jump on
the water, you break the tension of the water and it kind of
glitters with blue light.
You're like, you know, you kind of get down low.
You kind of do that thing that cats do.
You know, your eyes start to get a little wider.
You're looking little pouncy.
And then like, you understand how the ocean step of your, of the
opening.
So you like to try different things.
So what you kind of do is like kind of what ducks do when they like
kind of bottom dive, but you use it, like use your feet to kind of
hold yourself to the tension of the top of the water, but you kind of
like hang and dive underneath.
And in that moment, you just reach out and you grab a fish with
both of your hands.
And then as you kind of pull yourself up, you like toss it onto
the boat.
Got one.
And it's just like, but you're wet now.
That's amazing.
Thank you.
I'm going to cast shape water to like give it a little like pool to
breathe in kind of or like, thank you.
It's a little like water.
Can I, please?
It's okay.
Fish on the boats.
It's where we want to be nice.
Heifer is going to speak with this very well caught fish.
Like no.
Giltfish.
Giltfish, you come back.
Yeah.
Dripping wet.
Should at least be comfortable.
Like full body shape.
Geltfish, you did a great job.
Your hair is all like.
Yeah.
Puffed out and fuzzy.
Yeah.
Thank you.
All right.
So you're going to talk to this fish.
Yeah.
With friend of the sea.
Okay.
So what does friend of the sea do exactly?
It lets you speak with the animal.
It's using gestures and sounds.
You can communicate simple ideas with any beast that has an innate
swimming speed.
Okay.
It's the Aquaman spell.
So what do you want to tell this fish then?
Hi.
We're looking for.
Thank you, Jojo.
For weird things that glow.
You, a lot of things glow here.
And also there's a lot of ships that are down here.
What's up, man?
It.
Club clubs at you because it's a fish and it doesn't talk.
Right.
Right.
I realized that doesn't mean I can understand it.
Right.
Cool.
Cool.
Cool.
Cool.
Cool.
It's like swimming circle, like random circles.
So it's only a small little over persistent going in circles.
Tefford doesn't want the others to know this though.
They're like, oh, I see.
She's incredible.
Very interesting.
Do you see how she can speak to the fish of the sea?
This is why it's very important that we have her here.
That we have them here.
That they can speak to these fish.
So what are you going to do?
I won't take speak with animals because I have friend of the sea.
So.
That is exactly what happened.
I'm going to.
I'm going to turn to the other and say.
This, this fish has seen so much.
I can't tell you everything that's happened to this sweet man,
his family, his wife was eaten by a barracuda.
Only check.
Inside.
Inside.
Checking this out.
Yeah.
Anyone who wants to insight are welcome to.
Absolutely.
That diggers into it.
I mean, yes.
And then we must, we must.
We must do what we can for this fish.
The sessions are 22.
Anybody higher than that?
I got a 23 inside.
Mom always knows.
At first, at first you were on track with it,
but the more that Tefra Jess continues to explain the story of this
poor fish and his family and all of that stuff,
the more it just starts to become very unbelievable.
But listen.
We must.
We must, we must help this, this fish.
Yes, we should absolutely help this fish.
I'm going to look over at Gilfus, just be like in awe.
They're incredible.
And be like, all right, I'm not going to mess with my,
you know, my, my Envy Child's game.
I'll, yes, we should absolutely help this, this fish.
Horrible what happened to him.
Then I'm going to have to speak with animals on myself and talk to the fish.
Because the fish is like, what the fuck is going on right now, dude?
Yeah, as you like, as I was just fucking swimming around this fucking elf,
he grabs me out of the water, starts yelling right in my face, man.
Oh, this cat starts fucking yelling.
You just hear the screams of us, of a glubby little fish.
The last thing it saw was just a cat.
And I'm in the background screaming.
I'm like, I understand this story.
Decker ate one of my brothers when we first met.
This is not, this is not exactly true.
It's not.
Decker, how could you?
No, no.
He was very sure.
He was very sure.
On everybody, including the fish.
Okay.
Let me see.
This is.
I think it's a wisdom.
Calm emotion.
Decker just looks at, at kicker and he's like.
It's a charisma saving throw.
Charisma saving throw.
So everybody, everybody roll me a charisma saving throw to see if you are affected by
our emotions.
Emotions.
Emotions.
Emotions.
17.
Me too.
Me too.
I fail.
So I am well affected.
Also if you, if you're an elf, you have advantage on charm stuff.
So you can roll this with advantage.
Cause I, it's a charms effect.
I'm just a regular man.
I'm just a regular human, human being.
Now you start to just chill out, just all this emotion in the area.
Just kind of relax.
Like a roll a charisma saving throw at advantage for me please.
Cool.
Sorry.
Charisma saving throw 22.
Okay.
Yeah.
Kier were you, you failed or succeeded?
I failed.
Okay.
Yeah.
Kicker and, and Decker you kind of slow down and kind of chill out.
Relax a little bit.
And everybody kind of settles into a quiet conversation.
Yeah.
I think this is, this is also one of these, um, type things where, you know, it's cool.
And we just moved to the side of the boat and have like a nice long kind of like simple
talk.
Yeah.
There was a very tasty rabbit.
I didn't know.
And that fades into the background.
There was such a thing as smart rabbits.
Kim, what are you, uh, what do you do with our, our dear fish?
Uh, and just like, so they stopped screaming or whatever.
I'm like, okay, I'm going to put you back.
We're not going to hurry you.
I just, we have some questions.
Have you noticed anything strange in these waters lately?
Um, it's a fish.
So it doesn't have a lot of intelligence.
So it kind of just keeps marmuring about the light, the bright light, the scatters.
It keeps us safe.
It's made us a home.
It's made us a home.
When does the light come?
Um, it says at night.
Um, but even when it's not at night, it's still here.
It just can't be seen.
Okay.
But it's, has it come already?
Is it here right now?
Now, here now?
Yeah.
It says here now.
Where?
Um, it kind of just like wiggles to a general direction, but it's over the boat and under the water.
Is it in the direction of the epicenter that we saw?
I don't know if it's in the general direction of that. Yes.
Okay.
Um, yes, we must have helped this fish.
He's had a very rough time.
I'm going to put him back in the water and we're going to go in that direction.
We got to get, we got to go down.
Um, I'm going to, I'm going to stay on top.
Keep, keep watch.
Uh, and you all, if you need to take this crystal and go slow.
You don't need to rush into anything.
So go beneath the water and you check things out and then come back up and we'll all have a conversation.
Okay.
Do all of you breathe water?
I don't.
Please ahead of you breathe water.
And you, you have the means to make others breathe water.
Not this camping.
No.
I can just wait here with, with the car.
I was boat.
And, um, when you guys get back.
Yeah, I'll leave.
We'll have Decker on the boat.
I'm going to walk out onto the water to like sort of just stay nearby where like towards that direction.
And then whoever has it, like swimming and breathing or water can like just do a little recon.
So kicker and Tefra are going to go in the water and everybody else is going to kind of position themselves in a
optimal location.
I can swim down, bring it up towards everybody.
I can swim down a little bit like with my spear and stay down there so that I'm a little bit beneath the water.
I just started to dry off.
So I'm hesitant, but yes.
You can stay up here and we can talk a little more about, you know, whatever's going on in your life.
Do you need me to stay?
Kicker, did you say you need me down there with you?
No, I think it's, I think that it is okay if you want to stay up there with his mom and talk to his mom.
But you could also swim down with us.
But very quickly, I have noticed a little bit of maybe a spark or something between a pair of you on this.
And I am actually blessed by my god to perform a ceremony, especially as captain of this boat.
Perhaps I can perform a marriage right upon either of you.
Are you getting married?
I, wait, I thought, I thought Keenan was already married.
I am already married.
Oh, um, no.
Not some good thing that we covered.
Good thing we covered it because then we don't need it because we've seen now that it's already done.
So we don't actually...
Right, right, sorry.
I must have been misreading the signs, of course, of course.
Wait, what signs?
Are you not happy with your wife?
Is there someone on the ship you want to marry?
Mom?
There's no one on the ship on command.
And we should talk about this later.
This is a work time, okay?
This is work time and then after we do work time, we can come back on the ship and we can have talking time.
Are you and other moms getting divorced?
Under the bright light of the moon, under Saloon's blessing, I could join two in union.
Wait, hold on. Are you and Decker?
Are you and Decker in love even though he ate your brother? Is that why you're okay with it?
No, no, no. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
No, let's go.
Let's all go.
I've made this awkward.
This is hell. This is me in hell. This is punishment.
Tefra and Kicker, only perception checks as you take this awkward cue and dive into the water.
Is the leader of this mission for the rest of this mission?
I will put the moratorium on weddings until the end of the mission.
I can't give in both of you a plus like two or four to your AC if you would have gotten married.
Yes.
I'm a fool. Also, I rolled a natural 20. So 27.
Good.
I rolled a nine.
You both jump into the water. You both have dark vision. You start diving in deeper.
And the first thing you notice as you jump into the water is that the water is really, really cold.
It's unnaturally cold.
Even out here in Ashoka, the water doesn't get this frigid.
But the further you go down, it's starting to feel colder and colder and colder.
And that is a little disorienting for you, Kicker.
So you're not quite paying attention as you're kind of trying to get adjusted to this level of cold.
But you, Tefra, as you kind of look around, kind of comfortable in this back being in the water and looking around,
you just noticed this ripple of shipwrecks that just pull out towards an epicenter of what looks to be one ship
that is just sitting in the middle of all of this shipwreck.
Is it like wrecked too?
Yeah, it is wrecked.
It is missing its center, so it's more or less just the ends.
Okay.
Something destroyed the center of it.
And the rest of it just scattered debris in that area.
But you approach it and stuff, and you kind of scan it, and you manage with such a high rule to get the name of the boat on the side.
And the name of the boat is the cat's ire.
And that's the name of the ship.
I'm going to talk to Gilthus and say, why don't you send a little message to your friend or kicker?
Either one.
Send them a message so that we can communicate about what they're seeing.
Kicker, do you see anything?
I'm a bit distracted.
I think that message kind of like, I have dark vision up to 300 feet.
Is there anything beyond that specific thing that I can see moving around us?
As far as you can see, all you currently notice is just the fish that are still schools of fish that are just moving and stuff like that,
and that middle ship that makes up that epicenter.
But as you look around, you don't see anything else.
It seems to be a funnel of energy towards a direct point.
We're moving towards it.
Eli, with my role, would I be able to tell if there's a pattern in the sea floor beneath the center boat,
if there's something that would have, since the center of the boat's not there,
is there something on the sea floor where the center should be?
As you look at the sea floor, it doesn't seem like it's undisturbed,
like something came out of it or disturbed it, and that's how it happened.
Actually, it's not necessarily the center, but it is the ring around the ship.
You do notice that there is like a circle of some kind that kind of circles around that main ship,
you would kind of know this being an elf and have traversed here through Ashoka,
that it was kind of like a portal or something like that and leaves a residual marking around it.
I kick her, do you see the circle?
I'll point it out to him.
I see circles constantly,
but now I see them here, and I point towards like a kind of ring of fish that are swimming above us,
and I point down towards like a ring of debris, and I say, we're surrounded by circles right now.
Perhaps it's concentric circles like a target.
Well, I think this kind of circle is usually like a portal from what I remember about like, elven things, you know?
No, I don't know, but I'm willing to learn.
No, I guess you don't.
But like when circles like this are around, they're like portals and things between realms.
I wonder, do you think this ship came from somewhere else, or that like something came from somewhere else and hit it and that's what sunk it?
Perhaps it's a portal pulling things in, or perhaps it's something that has come out of a portal and is dragging things through?
I'll also send a message, excuse me, up to, probably up to Jacker,
and just explain about like the circle and the portal around the epicentorship.
Yeah?
Well, another message, like you're in charge, so I just, do you want us to go look?
To go look?
Listen, I believe I was chosen to lead by the fact that right now it's gone completely Irish.
No, yes, no, I believe that I was chosen to lead.
So because that I had the idea that you should follow your ideas.
So please, bro.
I can't tell if, oh, Decker does want us to go, cool.
That last part took a minute to get there.
I'm saying to kick her.
So Decker wants us to go check.
Two hind legs begin beating through the water down towards the center of this thing.
I try to keep up.
So you guys are going to go into the center of the boat.
That's, I mean, Decker's in charge and he said to go, so I guess.
Let me investigation check, see if that's what you're doing.
Oh, that's a Nat 19.
I want to say is that, you know, go and do it.
If you think that it's just, it's the thing to do, then you should go and do it.
And that is what Decker said.
That's a check we'll read two and two.
22.
Okay.
The message has ended long before now.
Listen, guys, I just think that this is the time.
It doesn't last that long.
It doesn't.
It's not.
Kicker.
It's not like a new tweet.
You only have like 120 characters.
Kicker, Tefra, you guys go into the center of this ship or what is the remnant remnants of it.
And you start to just take a look.
You do notice scattered amongst the wreckage or bodies of people.
You're going through the kind of the tunnels in the halls and you're just seeing what looks to be just a typical merchant ship.
That was for some reason just blown out.
But as you guys kind of go towards an area which would probably be given the type of ship it was would be where like a quarter or a captain's quarter and something like that.
And you kind of push open that door.
You start to feel something very large moving around and pushing through.
And you start to see the way that the light, the bioluminescence that you've seen of scattering, you know, fish and stuff like that, starting to also kind of do that.
But it's starting to just get bright.
And it's like making a whole glow around you all.
I need you both and as well as the people up top to make me a dex save.
Okay.
Dex save.
15.
I also got a 15.
I got a 25.
Seven.
Four.
Seven.
Those who have failed.
Anyone who failed is going to take 12 points of bludgeoning damage as all of a sudden the water pressure around you all starts to shift and change as this bioluminescent light starts to gather itself together.
And push upwards at 15 feet.
It pushes automatically the boat away 10 feet.
Rocking Gelfis Keung and Decker who are on the ship still as you guys kind of rock forward.
Anyone who failed would probably at this point also get knocked off the boat given the amount of force behind it.
And as you, Tefra, you kind of were in the middle of it.
So you kind of like, if you've ever been like washed out by a wave and stuff like that, you just start to get disoriented as you're just being pushed and pulled by a collection of water.
As all of a sudden bursting out of the surface of the water is this giant large bioluminescent looking being.
It takes the shape of a humanoid looking fish.
It has like arms and legs, but it has like a head that looks like a fish with like this bright corner.
And it's just got swirling of bioluminescent light and at its epicenter on its chest.
It's just this bright glowing light.
What was the DC we had to beat?
15.
Okay.
So anybody who met it saved out of it.
I was actually actually.
So I don't know.
I guess I get rocked like up and down with the wave.
Yeah.
So you got kind of knocked over on the boat and stuff like that is now you are looking at this very large bioluminescent cruiser.
Can everybody roll me initiatives?
Yeah.
I was busy.
Here we go.
Do you want to use friend of the sea?
Yes.
Hello, friend.
Deckard.
That is a 19.
All together.
All right.
Kicker.
17.
And I'll use this time to remind Gilfus you have advantage on initiative.
Gilfus, what did you get?
19.
Tefra.
Five.
I've been like spun and I'm trying to just get my bearings back and going slow.
Six.
I'm scoping out the situation.
Okay.
Perfect.
As this creature, I would say Tefra being washed up and stuff like that.
You eventually would breach the surface.
I don't know if kicker would like to breach the surface as well after all of that.
But you do at least getting washed up with this.
And as you guys all see this bioluminescent creature, it kind of just rings out this just giant guttural war that seems to just pulse and emanate through the water.
And as it does, like, actually kicker, you would see this.
You see all the ships that have been kind of laid out and stuff like that start to kind of shake and rumble as they start to just kind of break and start to rise through the surface.
Well, I mean a deck save because you're getting caught up in all of this as you're still underwater.
14.
14.
You manage to kind of duck and weave and stuff like that enough to get you through the surface.
But as you kind of breach it, all of these ships start to kind of now breach out of the water all around you and kind of stacked around making this kind of terrain of some cord out of all of these broken ships.
They all look and appear to be merchant vessels and they all possess still their their contents, their crew and everything else that they were carrying.
But it's now just laid out in different heights and stacks.
And this creature just radiating this rage.
Gelfis, you are first on the order. What would you like to do?
We are going to cast Huntersmark.
And we are going to start at Blade's song.
I can just beef up what little AC I have.
Yeah, that's all we're going to do. How far away are we from this creature? It's like right here, right?
Well, you guys were pushed 10 feet back because you were on the boat. So I would say you're about 30 feet away at this point.
Okay.
Actually, yeah, no, hold off on the blade song. We're just going to do a fire bolt.
Okay.
Go for it.
Oh, does a 24 hit?
And that is 9 5 14 points of fire damage.
Okay. Yeah, or you.
Yeah, you cast fire bolt from the ship and it hits into this creature and it immediately just makes steam and it seems to kind of separate in the spots that you had made.
Anything else you want to do?
No, that's it.
Okay, Decker, you're up.
So Decker looks to all his friends, all his people.
And I think in a moment of like wanting to, you know, be the support staff, he holds his action until until the next person goes.
He just wants to see what happens and then he'll react.
Okay.
All right.
As you hold that action, so you're going to hold to attack the creature if it does anything?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, no, you know what? Let's just say
now that you've awoken his
defend the family, he's just going to attack the creature.
Okay.
So it's going to be a spear attack
for the first one.
Okay.
Okay.
So you're going to hold that if they attack, you're going to spear him.
No, he's there's no longer any holding.
Oh, they don't hold it.
Okay, yeah, roll that attack then.
It's a 15 plus eight is a 232.
I'm not good at math.
That'll hit.
Roll that damage.
Rolling damage.
Oh, max damage.
10 points of damage.
Oh, yeah.
And we use a bonus action to transfer the hunter.
Well, did they, did the captain die?
We don't know.
We don't know.
We don't know.
So there won't be any transfer of the hunters mark.
Okay.
But there will be another attack.
I said, that's a dirty 20 dead.
Nice.
Hell yeah.
So roll that damage as well.
There'll be eight points of damage.
Nice.
As you see, Gelfis just pop off those two fire bolts.
You just use that as like target since it is, you have like such crisp and clear sight
now with that 300 feet of dark vision.
And you just fuck, fuck, and then you just hit exactly in the same places and you just
kind of cut through this like water arm of this like creature.
And it's just starting to make some form of dent and you have like two, two marks now.
And then just because I want to make full use of my dual wielding feet, I'll roll one more
attack and it will be a 15 to hit.
15.
It does not hit.
So as you're kind of jazzed and excited to try to pop off that third one and it just
doesn't make any contact.
It whiffs.
But I try and like sell it as like a part of the Cata.
You meant to do that.
It was the style.
No, no, that's that's positive.
All right.
It is.
Is that all you want?
All you're going to do, Deckard?
I think that is all for me for now.
Yes.
That is it.
All right.
It is the creature's turn and it's going to make two attacks.
One is a five.
The second is a natural 20.
Oh boy.
Who can it be now?
On who?
Just one, two, three.
One is for the boat.
Oh, it's a boat.
That's the vegan.
It's going to go for the boat.
It's a vegan boat.
It's going to go for the boat.
This boat is only made of vegan materials.
It's never harmed anyone.
Literally.
Literally never harmed anyone.
Me not a plus.
What's the overall blow on that?
The boat is 98.
You didn't send me stats on my boat.
So.
Impervious, right?
I'll send him points.
Your boat has immunity to all.
How is your boat just made of oat milk?
I don't understand.
The first slam is just going to be directly against the water.
And it's got enough weight to it that you can just feel it rum.
But the second one is not necessarily like it coming back up to do that.
It's just going to take its arm and just go sideways and just clock into the side of the boat.
The boat takes 12 points of damage.
It's kind of indented one of the oars, but it's still one of the holes,
but it hasn't cracked it open.
But it did take a nasty hit from it.
And yeah, and the creature just kind of goes and turns back.
And that is going to be its turn.
Just two slam attacks for now.
Keung, you're up.
So the creature is, is it floating or is it like a serpentine sort of thing?
It's not floating.
It's coming out of the water.
So like the water is making its overall form and stuff.
So it's coming through the water and it's wrapped in like a bioluminescent light.
It seems to kind of ebb and flow.
And then at the center of its chest is a circle, a bright light circle.
And that, that bright light circle is how far above the surface?
Far above the surface top.
I would, it is, I would say it's about 12 feet.
Okay.
So not melee range.
Okay.
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to get up close to it.
And then a misty step above it.
So I fall onto its head and try to like hold onto it.
If I can do grapple stuff or I can do, I guess, yeah, what, what should I,
should I do to accomplish that?
You're trying to get up to the circle of its chest, right?
Well, I'm just, I'm, I'm missing stepping over its head and then dropping down onto
its head so that I can be on it.
And then we'll be figuring something out from there.
Okay.
Yeah.
So you, you kind of gauge the overall like distance and you know, you can make it.
So you immediately just missy step.
And then you kind of like are right above it and you managed to land on its shoulder,
kind of in the area where it's already taken some overall residual damage.
But because it's made out of water and you're a sea strider, you can technically stand on it.
So now you're standing on this 15 foot creature.
What do you want to do now that you're here?
I'm, I actually will say the creature will take a reaction because you are.
That's fair.
Does a 14 hit?
Does not.
No, okay.
Yeah.
As you like land on it, the creature kind of notices that and then it goes to kind of
like swipe at you, but you managed to kind of slide down far enough where it just misses
the arm.
And, but you're still hanging on ready to do.
What are you going to do?
Okay.
So I can't cast another spell this turn.
So I'm going to use an action to, I'm going to use shape water as a cantrip to like, I
don't know, I'm going to, I'm like on top of its shoulder, right?
So I can control, I can change this, move the flow of water or cause water to form simple
shapes.
Oh, actually, you know what I'm going to do?
I'm going to freeze five, a five foot cube of its shoulder and, and then yell everybody
aim here.
So that there's, as you go to try to, so you go and you try to put your hand down on
to the freeze cube of it, but as you go to do that, the water does not freeze around
it.
And as you, like, as you cast the magic and the magic kind of pulses through this body,
you get a residual kickback of energy and it prevents the water from freezing on itself.
And you notice that that energy is coming from the, it's epicenter from that chest.
Nevermind.
Aim for the chest.
Is that your turn?
Is that your turn Q?
Yep.
That's my turn.
Uh, Tefra, you're up.
Um, where is kicker in relation to me?
Kicker would kicker.
Did you resurface or are you still chilling underwater?
Um, I mean, I don't want to bring it up, but I did get a 17.
Am I, have I been skipped in initiative?
Did you get skipped in initiative?
I did skip you in initiative.
Totally did.
I have a six.
Yeah, you did.
I did listen.
Before we get to you, Tefra, kicker, what did you want to do?
I breached the surface.
Even though I don't need to.
I breathe underwater.
It's just a dramatic moment.
Yeah, by now you would have seen the, by now you would have seen the, um, overall the,
the two slams and then just him racking into your boat.
Yeah.
And all this, all this stuff, like floating around it as well.
Um, I, um, I guess bless on, um, on like everybody, just not, uh, who don't, I guess.
That's the real question.
I mean, I'm pretty far away.
I'm like up on the thing.
So probably.
Okay.
Yeah.
Then I don't class cast bus.
I'm Kenone, um, but everybody else gets bless.
Um, as I like come up and I see the stars, I see the moon hanging above.
I see all this like luminescence, like shimmering off of the ocean light.
Um, I cast bless and I, I start to move towards, um, Tefra.
That's, and that's my turn.
Okay.
All right.
Now that you're looking, uh, now that you're up, um, and getting your bearings, you do
notice, um, kicker dashing towards you.
Okay.
Um, but now you've been able to kind of get a sense of what's going on and you finally
get to look at this overall creature and you look at the, the humanoid fish, like shape
of this, this being and you actually recognize what it is.
Um, in the time of your studies as, uh, learning about your history in the noble houses of
your family, um, you learned about some of the lore of various gods that no longer exist
in this world.
And one was known as the Bacuna.
It was an old Tempest God that took the form of a shape of a humanoid creature monster.
But as far as you know and are aware, Bacuna was killed and destroyed in the history of
things of old.
Um, but now you see its shape here existing in the real world.
What do you want to do?
Um, okay.
I'll, I think I'll probably shout that out to everyone like, this is, this is a God.
They were supposed to be dead.
It's called Bacuna.
It's, it's, it's, it's probably okay.
We just have to talk to it.
Uh, and I'm, who all is within 30 feet of me?
Kaker would probably get into that range.
The boat's not terribly far away from you, so I would say maybe Decker would be close
enough to you because Galphus would be towards the back of the boat.
You're saying probably within reach of you.
Is Kenan, Kenan's too far?
Kenan's up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um.
Then I'm going to use a twin spell again and cast haste on both Kaker and Decker.
Nice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, feel that, feel that static magic, yeah, like the energizer bunny, all the little,
all the little like freckles they've gained from being on the island with the, with the
sea striders kind of connect with little lightning bolts and they, uh, you guys think you have
plus two to AC, uh, hold on, manage on that stuff.
Yeah.
Two actions, a turn, speed is doubled.
Yes.
My foot now slaps six times on the surface.
Yeah.
Nice.
Nice.
But as I'm looking at it, it's like, yeah, normal for you.
And then I'm going to swim toward the thing and try to, try to say its name and like call
its name and pull its focus away from the people that are being attacked by it or that
are attacked, that are engaged with it.
Okay.
Yeah.
You, you call that to this creature, doesn't seem to hear what you say, um, but you are
trying your best to make a distraction.
That's all your turn.
Uh, yeah, I think that's it.
Gelfist, top of the round.
Okay.
Um, I'm going to spend my movement getting to the far side of the boat as close to the
creature as I can, um, and use a bonus action to cast Misty step to teleport onto the creature
somehow as close as I can get to it, uh, to the chest.
And then, um, I'm going to use the, what is it called, the, the staff of the Python Gelfist
is just going to take it out and like as it slowly starts to transform into a snake, stretch
out the one free hand that isn't holding onto the creature to bite Pakuna in the chest.
Okay.
That's center.
Uh, yeah, roll attack for that.
Let's say 19 to hit, uh, 19 will not hit.
He's like, oh, if you are a road, we call it a snake attack.
Yeah.
Don't forget your blast.
You're blessed.
Okay.
Oh, yes, you are.
D4.
Roll a D4.
Jobless.
Will a 20.
A 20 will hit.
There we go.
Okay.
There we go.
Okay.
There we go.
Tight, tight, tight, tight.
Yeah.
Um, okay.
Yeah, you misty step up there and you, you transform that snake and then you just go and it just
seems to like just glitter a little bit with like some level of divine energy and you strike
straight into the middle of that center circle.
Um, I think Gelfist is doing the equivalent of parcel tongue to do it, um, nice, beautiful.
Sounds really like Gelfist.
You're just panic hostiles pretending to speak in tongues.
You're, you're, you're just talking to a regular ass snake.
That snake's like, I, I don't, I, snake's like, I didn't even know what I, I wasn't
supposed to be here today.
Uh, seven points of damage by the day player snake.
Yeah, you, you, you strike the fuck out of it and, um, you've, um, because it's a magical
item, you too feel that residual kickback of magic.
Um, it does some damage, but it just seems to do a hell of a lot, um, but it was nice.
Great form.
Um, anything else you want to do?
I'm just holding on to chest hair.
Uh, well, you're, you're, you're a sea strider.
It's made of water.
So you have some level of grip and you can kind of stand on this weirdly.
Um, you can at least hang on.
Um, Decker, you're up.
Decker will, will taking a, taking a, like you just follow those wonderful attacks and,
um, go after them and try and kind of piggyback on them.
So I think at this point, uh, can I, can I get into melee range?
Yeah.
Fantastic.
You can definitely get into melee range.
These are, these are going to all be fucking melee.
At this point, I'm out of spears.
At this point, I only got that one spear back.
Oh, the first one's going to be a, uh, 14 to hit.
14 does not hit.
It's a mess.
Uh, second one's going to be a 17 that you are blessed.
Oh, you are blessed.
Oh, you are blessed.
Let's get that blessing there, Betty.
Bless, bless, bless, bless.
You gotta hit it.
You gotta hit a three.
Can't see.
Oh, it's a three.
It's a three.
No.
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
So roll damage, roll damage for that one.
For that one, it's going to be, uh, a D six from a spear.
So it's going to be, oh, uh, five, five, five, minimum damage, five boys damage.
Five.
Um, and then.
For shits and giggles, we're going to do, we're going to do that actual attack.
And that's going to be a 24 to hit.
That will definitely hit.
So roll that damage as well.
No, this one's going to be with a, um, long sword.
Okay.
So that's going to be, uh, 11 points of damage.
Beautiful.
All right.
Yeah.
You, you get into range with it.
You're, you're slicing, you're dicing, you're cutting through this water.
You know, you're making some level of dent, but, um, it is just water.
So you are slicing.
You do some damage, um, but you're making it work.
Uh, what are, is that any, anything else you're going to do?
I think about making one more attack, but I feel like I'm not doing that much damage.
So I still make one more attack.
It's a, it's an 18 day.
18 does not.
Oh well.
With bless.
Oh, with bless.
Bless at the bless.
Don't.
18 plus three is a 21.
Beautiful.
Less is saving our ass.
At that extra damage.
Let's get that damage now.
That's going to be six points of damage.
Nice.
You get your licks in.
You're doing your best.
Um, it is, it is, it's turn.
The monsters turn.
Um, it's first going to use a legendary action.
Uh, Keung, as you're kind of been standing there, you're the first one to, to initialize
some, some heavy damage.
Uh, um, it's going to actually like from some part of its body is going to like spring
out this kind of like tentacle and it's going to try to grab you and fling you back down
onto the ground.
Um, I need you to make me a deck safe.
That is a 23.
Oh, uh, Keung, not, not.
Oh, sorry.
Uh, six.
You got a six.
No.
Mom.
Let's do.
Okay.
Yeah.
Um, it's going to grab you and grapple you and it's going to literally fling you straight
in front of it.
Um, you are going to take, you're going to take six points of, um, of bludgeoning damage
as you skip like a stone down across the water.
Um, and it will knock you prone.
Um, and then it's going to take, uh, it's going to take its action, uh, Gelfis.
Um, it is going to try to remove you as well.
Oh, no need.
I have a, a 19 and a net 20.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Those are going to hit the wizard.
Oh, baby.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Okay.
Here we go.
A lot of clanking.
A lot of click clacking.
I just got to grab the right dice.
It's fine.
Are you holding a player's handbook?
What's going on?
Yeah.
I'm trying to hold it on my spell.
I thought you were just sort of cuddling it, which I understand.
I mean, I have been known just to protect yourself.
Yeah.
Gotta protect my heart.
You are going to take 20 points of bludgeoning damage as you're slammed into the ground
and then for good measure, with a second strike.
Um, and that will be its turn.
All right.
Um, I'm hasted.
I'm hasted motherfuckers.
So with it, with my fucking speed, I'm just like up at tephra's side within seconds
and speaking faster than I've ever spoken before.
Even though I speak very fast all of the time, I say the ocean is alive.
Everything is alive and everything is illuminated.
And with my two actions, I won.
Pull the conch out of my pack and I dimension Doris up towards the chest of this being.
Hell yes.
And with my second action, once we are up there hanging on, I channel divinity and I
create a sense of twilight in a 15 foot sphere around us.
And that's what I do.
Amazing.
Anything of the like, does it do anything?
Yes.
If anybody ends their turn within that twilight, they gain 1d6 plus two temporary hit points
or I can end a charmed or frightened effect on them.
Amazing.
Okay.
Nice.
Yeah.
So yeah, you grab onto tephra, you blow that conch shell and you ride the ripples and
eventually like a dimension door just opens, you enter it and immediately you drop down
right on top of to this monster.
And as you do that, you then cast your channel divinity as the stars seem to kind of collect
down around you.
It seems like as if they kind of like fell down and now are just kind of swirling this
starlight magic around you.
Boom.
Cool.
That's my turn.
Is that your turn kicker?
Kim, you're prone.
You skipped like a stone down on the water.
What do you want to do?
Half my movement to stand up.
How far away am I from the creature now?
I would say you're about 20 feet away.
You didn't go that far.
I'll use 15 feet to get a little closer.
And then I'm going to smack the chest with a guiding ball.
Smack his chest with a guiding ball?
All right.
Go for it.
All right.
Roll.
Let's see.
Let's roll.
Let's not hit.
And then I'll use my bonus action to cast Shalely and that'll be my turn.
Okay.
Nice.
Awesome.
Yeah.
You try to get your bearings.
You get up.
You immediately crack that bolt.
You're aiming for the center of its chest, but it just seems to just bounce off.
And you know, those who are on it, kicker and Tefra, you can feel that kickback of magic.
It kind of knocks against it and then it pushes it, pulses it out throughout its body.
And that will be it for Keung.
Tefra, it's your turn.
You're on top of this creature, on top of Bakuna as you recognize it.
What do you want to do?
So you said this was made of water.
It's made of water.
And its epicenter is that center part of it.
But it's bioluminescence flowing water making a shape of this creature.
So I want to destroy water.
I have created destroyed water.
I want to destroy water.
Okay.
I can cast it at a higher level.
So I think...
Oh, I have a really quick question.
Because we took a rest and I was on second watch, does that mean I trance for four hours?
And how I'm like back to being...
Oh, as an elf?
Absolutely.
You would have gotten the amount of rest you needed.
Amazing.
Okay.
Then yeah, I'm going to do a destroy water at a third...
I'll say third level.
Let's do third level.
Okay.
Which means I can destroy how many...
50...
Or sorry, hold on.
I can destroy up to 50 gallons of water.
So I don't know if that would get rid of it entirely.
But I wonder if that would make it smaller or...
I'm not really entirely sure what this would do.
But it's made of water.
So I want to destroy water.
Move in, go towards the center of it.
They're next to it, right?
They're next to the center.
Yeah, I guess I'd just push in and destroy as we move forward.
I will say that as you try to create and destroy the water around it,
trying to alter this creature's form, it doesn't.
The water stays in its place.
But you managed to put your magic, though, is enough, though,
to get and reach its center.
And what you do enough is with the amount of force of the magic
you're trying to use through it, it starts to crack that center.
And now you're starting to see a residual crack being formed through that center.
But it is not enough to actually diminish the water form of this being
as you get railed with a kickback of magic at the same time.
Oh boy, do I have any bonus next time?
Yeah, I think that's it.
I think I'm just trying to push forward into that and pull the crack further.
As that happens and you feel the cracking of this creature,
we're at the top of the round, the being kind of just gutterly roars.
And it takes both of its hands and it just fucking cracks them together.
And as it cracks it together, you feel this pulse emanating through the water
for those who are the bottom-decker, Gelfis, Keam.
You feel this kind of line of pulse just go about 15 foot in front of it,
which is where you guys are generally standing at this point.
And then, all of a sudden, as its hands are together, it starts to separate.
And as it separates its hands, the water around it in that line part ways.
I need you all to make me a dexterity saving throw.
As the water and the sea opens to the floor below.
Don't forget, those have blessed our puzzle.
You did!
It's a nat 20 from Decker.
Beautiful.
It's a 12.
We're at 26.
Did you bless me?
Don't forget, you have a d4.
Yes, wait.
I have a d4.
13.
Keam.
I got a 4.
I got a 4.
Okay.
Decker, you managed to adjust the quickness of your reflexes as you're falling.
You noticed the level of other shipwreck and stuff like that around you.
And you managed to take your sword and just lodge it into something
to brace yourself as to hold you down from the fall.
For those who failed.
There's a real Prince of Egypt theme episode.
Those who had fallen, you take 13 points of bludgeoning damage
as you rack yourself against other parts of like old shipwrecks and stuff like that
as you're falling towards the bottom.
But as you guys finally land and settle,
like even you Decker holding onto your sword,
you just see a wall of water and just a parted sea.
You can see like the fishes and all of that stuff kind of pooling in the water
on the sides and stuff like that.
You know, like the Prince of Egypt.
Moses, I don't think that I would like to be in charge of this mission anymore.
This seems like a very...
Gelfis, it's your turn.
Okay.
You've been hit, you're hurt a little bit.
Gelfis is not looking good.
I think he just...
Oh, go ahead.
I will say that as you're like looking and seeing all of this,
you know, water, wall, water, all of...
As you're kind of looking about,
it doesn't seem very safe to be here.
Just so you know.
Oh, yeah, perhaps we should get out of here, you guys.
Anyways, what would you like to do?
I think...
But you have a direct line to this creature now.
It's like, you can see it's the bottom parts.
It's still kind of like using the water, but at the end of that rainbow.
Okay, he's going to look at mom and kicker and just say,
I don't feel so great, but we march on and cast...
Yeah, activate the blade song for real this time.
And cast a burning hand.
That's not a spell I have.
Firebolt at the open chest.
Okay.
I was just manifesting.
Roll that attack.
Oh, no.
No!
There we go.
There's the old chamber.
And with that...
Scatters.
And it's not...
Scatter.
It's like...
Scatter.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It just starts to form, fizzles out.
Are you going to take your movement?
Are you going to do anything else?
Yeah, full movement as far as they can get from this sort of like rift.
Yeah.
You don't know if like you just got hit hard enough or like it's going to take a second
for your magic just to realign with you for a second, but your magic doesn't go.
So you just immediately with your Tabaxi quickness just start to climb up onto Shipwrecks trying
to at least get to the surface of this water.
That will be your turn.
Deckard, what are you doing?
You're hanging a little bit.
You're more towards the top of this than anything because you managed to save yourself.
So you could probably pull yourself up and a couple hops, skip a jump and be back on
the top of the water.
Yes.
But you do see Qiyong and the stuff down below.
I think at this point I am just trying to tell my friends that it is like guys.
Seriously.
Well, this is not the time to try and sink with the ship.
This is the time to try and swim to the surface.
So yes, I try and tell my friends that.
Anything else you want to do?
Also to stay near to the surface as much as I can.
Okay.
Cool.
Yeah.
You managed to climb yourself up.
You're definitely by now would get to the top of it by the end of your turn.
I'm not a strong swimmer.
Not this one.
Do you have to?
You are hasted.
Yes.
So with a quick lightning, you're back up on the water.
Yeah.
Very fast.
And you're waiting for Gelfis and Qiyong to also make them wait up.
It'll be the monster's turn now.
I'm a monster.
It's still around.
Me and the kicker.
All right.
It's going to try to remove you and kick her off of them.
Will a...
These are so low.
Will a 15 hit you?
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah?
Okay.
Yeah.
It smacks you clear off.
And then will a 16 hit you, kicker?
No way.
Hell yeah.
No?
The pace.
It grabs Tefra and not just flicks her.
Flicks them like a flea.
But it goes to try to grab you, kicker.
And you manage to just skirt around it.
You're dexterous enough.
You're nimble enough.
You know how to duck dive, dodge.
Dodge a wrench.
You can dodge an attack.
Is that a concentration on haste also?
Yes, it will be when I get that damage.
Don't forget, you also have a d6 plus 2 temporary hit points.
You get 18 points of bludging damage being kicked off this creature.
Oh boy.
Oh boy.
We're all right.
Okay.
And then you said that was 18.
So I just have to be a 10.
Oh yeah.
Haste is still up.
You guys are still good.
I got a 17 for focus, for focus, concentration.
All right.
That'll be its turn for now, kicker.
What do you want to do?
You dodge, duck and weave.
You can dodge.
I see.
Dodge a wrench.
Being flung off of the body.
And I'm within this haste.
And so everything is kind of in this slow motion as I'm witnessing this in the twilight.
I will go down with this ship.
I don't.
There will be no.
This begins to play.
Anya, of course.
Or no.
I don't go down with that ship.
Yeah.
And with my two actions, I think the first thing that I'm going to do is I'm going to swim as close as I can towards the epicenter inside of this body.
Okay.
So you're going to try to break.
You're going to, you're going to want to break into the epicenter.
Is that what you're trying to do?
I'm going to try to breach the skin surface of this creature.
Okay.
How do you, how do you intend to do that?
You see a very notable crack through it, but that hasn't been fully breached through.
I think like a, like a cute little rabbit.
I just kind of moved for the crack.
And then I.
You should have as a lapine, you should have a bonus action to use your talents.
So that's an unarmed strike.
All right.
You have lapine.
You have, you have.
No feet.
Use them big bunny feet, bro.
With the claws on them.
So this is just a, it's a.
Classic attack.
Classic attack.
Classic.
Classic.
That's not going to hit.
Okay.
That's not going to hit.
Okay.
That is technically a bonus action because that's a, that's a feature of the lapines.
So you do still have your overall attack.
So you have one more thing to do if you want to try to break through this.
I as haste, I technically have two more things.
Oh, you technically.
Yes, you do.
So.
Speedies.
I will.
I'll make a, I will pull out my war hammer and I will make a full attack at this crack.
Attack the crack.
Attack the crack.
What do you, what do you say when you pull out your war hammer other than I'm going to
attack this crack?
I say we must remain vigilant.
That will be a 21.
That will hit.
Roll me damage for it.
That's much less impressive because of everything.
That will be five damage.
Five damage.
Okay.
Are you going to hit it again or are you with your last attack?
Cause you said you had two actions.
Did it seem to breach at all?
You are making a dent to it.
It's starting to crack more and more and more.
It's starting to almost shatter like glass.
One good strike will probably push you right over the edge.
Five was just a little shy.
That's a 19.
19?
With play?
You don't have a blessing.
I don't have a blessing.
I give it to you.
Oh no.
You're the blessing.
There's a blessing.
Yeah, you, you, you're going, you're striking.
You're moving in.
You kick with your feet.
You do it.
It's just right there.
It's like you're just almost there.
You're making it.
It's just spidering out.
Just one last bit.
I will say though, you've, you've made enough dents where it's like, it's not fully
like broken apart, but at least a piece of it has finally like broken off like a
shard of it just kind of falls.
And when that happens, though you're so far down into the spot of the almost dam
in the bottom of the ocean, you get a sense of feeling that the epicenter of that emotion
that seemed to have driven you once you had gotten close enough in this area.
You feel like waves of just anger and anger and just rage and hatred.
But as you kind of ride that, as you normally do, you know that you got to ride the emotion.
You start to feel something more.
You start to feel fear.
You start to feel sadness and you start ultimately feeling grief.
Whatever is at the epicenter of this being is grieving.
Kick or anything else you wanted to do.
That's, that's your whole turn.
Yeah.
I mean, there's so much I want to do, but what I'm able to do that is the extent of it.
That is the font.
Keen, with that, that is your, your turn.
So what would you like to do after you're kind of ripped and rippled with that emotion
of this epicenter starting to break apart?
I feel like her instinct isn't to keep smashing it.
The feeling that I think I'm probably prone because I failed that deck save pretty bad.
I'm going to get up, walk the rest of my 15 feet closer to it.
I'm going to try to use this channel divinity.
It's, it only really works on humanoids, but I want to try it and just like see what
I get back from this because it's, you can use your grief struck, which is the channel,
special channel divinity for grief filming clerics.
You can use your channel divinity to cause a creature to recall a deep unprocessed grief.
As an action, you choose one humanoid you can see within 30 feet of you.
Target must make a wisdom saving throw on a failure.
The creature suffers one level of exhaustion on a success.
All conditions and curses on the creature end.
Eli literally said it was humanoid shaped.
Oh, it's shaped like a humanoid.
A lot of things are humanoid shaped.
This has to be the 17 wisdom save.
Now that it'll save out.
That is a, that is a 20, a dirty 20.
On a success, all conditions and curses on the creature end.
So I don't know if that does anything.
It's, it's like a double-sided sword.
I don't think we have any conditions on it, but is there, do I even get a sense of like what might be,
like as I'm feeling that wave and then I push back with this channel divinity,
like, am I feeling anything in that, like the tension as it pushes back against me?
Yeah.
So you cast channel divinity and you try to, to reach whatever it is the source of this grief.
And you kind of reach inside of it, though it doesn't do anything in terms of damage or exhaustion.
What you get is not necessarily, what you sense inside of it is that there is something living inside of this creature.
And you get a, you get in this epicenter, you get a flash of something very small,
but you also get a flash of what looks to be an iron matted stone at its epicenter.
So there's something, there's something living and there's something magically organic inside this epicenter as well.
That's what you can resonate from the kickback of that magic.
I'm going to communicate that to the group and say it's, it's afraid.
And there's some sort of stone causing it pain.
We need to save it.
I think the epicenter is really absolutely where we need to be targeting.
Okay.
That's your turn.
I'm going to cast a spiritual weapon and try to smash it with like,
I think it's like sort of like a big stuff with like a spiky shell at the end to try and do a little attack here.
I'm going to roll to 14.
14 does not hit.
And that's my turn.
Okay.
Yeah.
You go and you try to cast that energy, but it just seems to be just with out of reach.
You're still down in this wave areas in the, in this walls of water as you're trying to get yourself out.
And it just isn't far enough to give any type of damage, but it is within range now next to kicker as,
as they're trying to break through this epicenter.
And that it will be turned.
Sorry.
Your turn.
Is Galphys still like in danger of getting clapped by the water when it closes?
Both Galphys and Keung is attempting to get out of this.
So they're slowly climbing at the same time attacking, which is taking time from them from pulling themselves up.
So they are still down there.
And you don't know how long it will stay like that.
Can I use my action to
Yeah, none of these are going to do what I want them to do.
Can I use my action to give them the help action on their next turn when they're getting, when they're trying to get out
to help them pull themselves out of that water?
Okay.
Cause I can swim and breathe underwater and they can't.
Yeah.
So you kind of rush the edge, maybe drop down a couple of fetage and stuff.
And you're, you have your hand kind of reached out to grab on to the first person who can reach you.
Yeah.
And that's the only thing you're going to do.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Top of the round.
Galphys.
Probably going to take, well, I don't know.
Am I close enough to Tethra to like take that?
I would say that if you use, given the terrain, you will need to use your entire action to get there.
If you want to, or you can attack and use your action and be there next round.
Okay.
Are you based it?
No.
But I, can I use my feline agility to like
Yes.
Get there.
Oh, let me an athletic check then.
Oh boy.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Or an acrobatics check actually.
Acrobatics.
Yes.
Hobaxi.
Oh boy.
Oh boy.
Bless.
Bless.
Get it in there.
Why not?
All right.
Throw that blood.
Bless on bless.
With advantage and bless and plus 74.
10.
No.
I was about to say seven.
I mean, you try your best.
You're like climbing, but like, you know, like you kind of get like debris kind of kicks under you.
So you're, you're struggling.
It's giving that seed in the Lion King.
Yeah.
No, exact.
That's exact.
That's exact.
But it's not enough to, you know, with all your, with all your strength and agility, you
still will need to make the choice of using the full length of your action to get to Tethra
or to choose to use it for something else.
Okay.
He's literally looking between Tethra and war.
And, you know, he's like, you know, he's like, I don't know.
War.
And come on.
And Spence's movement for the elf.
Yay.
Beautiful.
That's a good boy.
You, you clamor and climb and eventually get to a part where it's just like, you got to,
you got to just jump and just do it.
And you jump over, you reach out and you grab the hand of Tethra and Tethra assistes and
pulls you up.
And now you're on sea level again.
That was really cool.
Thank you.
I hate water.
I hate it.
It's really fascinating that you're a sea strider, which is like a thing that's really with the
ocean and you hate water.
It's everywhere.
It's really cute, actually.
What?
Anything else?
Teth, Gelfas?
No, that's it.
Decker, you're up.
You see that Tethra and Gelfas are back on the surface.
Q is making her way up and you do see Kicker up on that epicenter just trying to break it
through.
And you can tell that that thing is just on the precipice of breaking.
What do you want to do?
Wait, what is on the precipice of breaking?
That epicenter that Kicker has been hammering away at seems to be on its last legs.
It just needs a little more to break.
Okay.
Well, I'm going to help with that.
What are you going to do?
I'm going to get there as fast as I can, which with haste is probably pretty fast.
With haste?
Yeah.
You zip over there?
Yeah.
Zip, zep, zop.
There he is.
Watch out.
And I'll let an attack loose at that with my long sword.
Nice.
Let's go.
All right.
That is a 17 to head.
Bless.
17 is.
Bless the bless.
Add the bless.
Add the bless.
That is a 21 to hit.
Beautiful.
All right.
So you take your long sword, you see Kicker just trying to go away with it.
You use all of your movement, your haste movement, and you essentially climb up the side of this
creature.
This bit, you kind of just like jump up into the air, taking your long sword and just striking
through the center.
And it finally just.
Shredding.
Breaks.
Yeah.
Shredding it.
And you and Kicker end up kind of just because it's broken and you guys are just been holding
on to it.
You guys eventually fall inside this epicenter.
And as you guys do, eventually you guys are kind of straddled in a void.
You can see the water kind of flowing around you is by a little mess of water.
You feel the energy and as you kind of take the look around eventually through this like
void that looks like a lot more space than it actually would technically be given looking
from the outside down the way, you see a small creature and it is what looks to be a cat.
And on the scruff of its neck is an iron matted stone that's kind of just attached to the
back of its neck.
And you can kind of see that it's just full of like, you know, kind of like cats kind
of like curl up when they're upset and stuff like that.
And that's sure.
Yeah.
Angry and scared and terrified.
The cats.
I hear.
What do you want to do?
I want to the cat's aisle.
I want to hear some more about that.
I want to look at, look at the kicker and say, I always told you is that a cat would be
the death of us.
It would be a cat that killed us.
Told you that so long ago.
You always told me curiosity, but it is one of my natural instincts.
The beast, the beast.
Can I is like, as I look around, I see the cat and I see kicker and like, do I feel like
I can keep attacking or do I feel like I have gone into this area?
Yeah.
I mean, you've gone and definitely gone into an area.
I mean, what you see is a very small animal and it doesn't seem at this point as threatening,
but you do as you're kind of walking around, you do feel that magic pulsing.
You've kind of been feeling as you've been attacking this creature and you're feeling
it and it's coming from that stone on the back of its neck.
Though it's defensive, it doesn't seem like it's going to outright just lunge at you,
you know, Monty Python style and just ruin your life.
It just looks like it's defending itself and it's looking very scary.
I'm going to say to kicker, I'm going to say this rabbit doesn't seem like a killer.
I'm going to try and take the stone from its neck, keep the holy hand grenade in reserve
for just in case.
And I'm going to try and grab that stone off.
You are going to touch the stone.
Well, now that you said it that way.
Thank you.
No, I just I just I'm just clarifying.
Yes.
You can grab the stone.
It's a maybe I put like a like I take the bandana from around my neck and I try and grab the stone.
So I don't touch it with my skin.
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
Here we go.
Long time fans of the podcast knows what this means.
Hey.
That is a 16.
Saving throw.
You get a blast.
With.
That is a 19.
Okay.
Beautiful.
You take the bandana off your neck and you approach the creature.
The creature, you know, very tiny.
Small creature crouching.
It's kind of like, you know, turning on its back, you know, and you go and you grab it and then you go to touch the stone.
And as you touch the stone, you feel a sensation and ripple go through your body.
And for a moment, you start to get kind of these waves of images of this creature's something that this creature is seen.
This cat was on a ship known as the cat's ire, as was previously mentioned, and it was a merchant ship that would travel through these areas.
It was a cat that lived on the ship and it was beloved by its crew.
And you're seeing all of these, you know, moments of Jess at being, you know, chilling with crew members, hanging out with the captain, all of these beautiful, like, you know, you could obviously tell.
This cat was well loved and loved and it loved all.
And as you are seeing that, you know, you're seeing images of the crew.
And one of the images of the crew that you see is a turtle, a turtle with a black eye patch over its eye.
It's wearing blackish clothing and stuff like that.
And he doesn't seem to have been a regular member of this crew.
But one of the images that you continue to see is that one night, a light scattered across the Ashokan sky and illuminated over the cat's ire ship.
This boat was carrying this magic stone on this ship.
And this turtle creature became aware of it.
And on that night when the lights of the sky opened up, this creature seemed to, this turtle seemed to have summoned something that came from the depths of the ocean below.
And it rippled through the ocean and it came with a giant snapping jaw.
And as some type of creature came and broke apart this ship and its crew and its people and sunk it to the bottom of the sea.
And in the trussle of all of that, somehow this cat had managed to be fused with and bonded to the stone.
And through the loss and the grief of this unsettling moment,
it seemed to have charged the stone enough to create this image of this being, this creature.
And it seemed to have been now just relatively angry in its wake.
But you have taken this stone now.
And as these images flash through you and everything seems to dissipate and settle.
Can I do something within my haste in the moment?
Feeling the pulse and the aura of grief that has emanated from this being.
And also responded and resonated from Kinyon.
And seeing the cat now kind of rolling onto its side and responding in this way.
I just kind of move in towards it and I kind of move in to wrap it up in my arms.
And start to like, yeah, the cat.
And I start to like just hold it and give it like little kind of claw scratches around the neck.
And I hold it within the water and within the twilight.
Yeah, you managed to grab this creature and you're holding it close to you.
And Decker, as those residual images start to kind of fade away as you kind of gather the source of this story.
The stone is no longer in your hands.
The stone is now placed on the nape of the back of your neck and is now it is kind of infused with you.
And as it settles, the construct of this water creature starts to break apart and dissipate.
I need a deck save from both you kicker and you Decker as you guys are now following as this.
Now this water is just returning and now even you guys down below.
I need you to make me a deck save because you have not made it out of the wall.
And now the walls of water are starting to close and slap together.
As now the shipwrecks are starting to break apart and sink back down to the water and everything's starting to just fall apart.
This is Jersey 20 from Decker for us.
I know that is with some less.
10.
And kicker for you.
I also had a dirty 20.
Now we have a connection.
Let's see, let's see, let's see.
Keon, you take 18 points of bludgeoning damage as the walls of water clap around you and you're now tussled in the water below you.
We'll get back to you in just a moment.
Decker and kicker.
You guys as this water seems to go, you seem to be able to slide down and ride the water as it's retracting back into the bottom and manage to land safely.
Kicker holding on to this small creature and you Decker who is, you know, seemingly normal but now has a matted iron stone in the back of its neck.
Right.
But as everything is, you know, starting to settle, you're looking around, you see Tefra, you see Gelfis, you see kicker, but you do not see your mother.
Roll me a constitution saving throw, Keon, as you, you're well underneath this ocean.
You've been pushed around and slammed about.
You need to see how you fare.
30-20.
I'm slow, but I'm strong.
Yeah.
There you go.
You know, you're tough.
Mom is not going to go down this way.
But slowly eventually as it seems to get a little nervous, you see like a trunk first split up and then Keon as they take a giant breath of air, but all is still now.
There's no bioluminescent water anymore.
Even the fishes that are moving are gone.
And everything seems to be quiet and well.
What do you guys want to do?
Ship is good.
The ship is was battered a little bit over that initial strike, but it's still workable, still usable.
I put the cat up onto the deck of the ship.
And I dimension door out to mama with whoever is willing to go and I help them back to the ship.
You guys are all collected.
I will certainly come back to the ship.
Yeah.
You all collect yourselves back onto the ship and you're now out in the middle of the North Point Sea.
And it seems on some level you've received, you've found what was here.
What do you want to do?
Decker, I think there's something on your neck.
Is that supposed to be there?
I think that yes.
This is the first time in my life something is where it's supposed to be.
I must learn how to...
I must learn what it means to have this thing here.
But for the first time in my life, this is something that...
Something means something for my life.
And so I think we must continue.
I'm sorry, but I don't believe that we have completed entirely our charge.
We're supposed to reach the Northern Port.
Yes, of course. We must continue that mission and find out what it is that is causing all these things.
But I think it was...
It probably was that.
Is that the closest port?
Will we know?
You would know that the Port Isle of Belly, which is further north, was the initial place that commissioned this charge.
So you could either return back to Takarava Outposts and relay that message to the conclave.
And the conclave will send it out, or if you want to direct message it and go continue north, you are more than welcome to.
I think this is something we must ask mother.
I would like to do some sort of... I just want to look at the stone in the back of his neck.
Some sort of medicine or arcana or something.
And as soon as Takar is alone with Kuguna, it's much more like...
I don't understand what this is.
I must say that I'm a little frightened. I'm a little scared.
I don't know what this is.
I have never known quite why I am here, but now that this is...
I'm scared.
I'm going to put my big elephant hand on his tussled, salty beach hair and go...
Well, nobody knows why.
But we're here and that's what it is.
So let me take a look at this and we'll go from there.
I can figure this out. We can all work together.
Well, me and Arkana, Tak.
The hot plus one.
Let's go.
If you want, I have identity.
Identify.
I don't know what this is.
We'll find a way. Perhaps we should turn back and let them.
You've never seen this stone before. It's matted, it's dull, it's iron.
It doesn't look much. It's nothing of intrinsic value.
You can feel some residual magic behind it, but what it is...
It's stuck right in my neck, which, like, that is what has me concerned.
You can't sleep on it?
Well, yes, I'm worried just in case I sleep on it.
Perhaps we can, yes, ask...
Gilfus, the greatest wizard of our age.
Yes.
Okay. Yeah, then he's going to touch the back of his neck and cast identify.
Oh, that singles a little bit.
Identify does what exactly?
Just double-check.
Magic item.
I learned its properties and how to use them, whether it requires attunement, how many charges it has.
If there are any spells affecting it, I learned the spell.
If it was created by a spell, I learned of that spell.
Yeah.
Just a little baby vibe check.
I do appreciate the vibe check.
This is a vibe check, as I'm very appreciative.
You go and you cast identify on this stone,
and there is a lot of forceful magic that's competing with your own magic.
It's something very strong, arcana-wise, comparatively to anything you have.
You get a sense overall that it is something that collects and radiates energy.
It doesn't have a residual spell behind it, but you do know, at the very least, it is made of elven kind.
This is an elven power source.
You could sustain a fleet easily.
If it's elven, would I know what it is?
Roll me a history check.
Oh boy, that hot minus one.
I did not pay attention to my lessons.
Ah, 13.
13?
You don't know its name, but you have read in the pages of the books and through the teachings
that there were powerful artifacts that the elves used to have
before they moved on to the world in which you grew up in.
But those things were lost to time, essentially.
They know that they're very powerful, and they were left behind in the world before, as you know it.
There were lots of these at one point, and then they got left behind.
I can't remember what they're called. I didn't pay enough attention.
Do you think there might be more out there now?
Maybe. I imagine they went somewhere, so they have to be...
I keep looking at Eli's face because I know things.
Exactly.
Don't look at my face. Don't read into my face.
This is very interesting that you are talking about.
I'm only wondering if it is also other people that there is a stone in their neck like I have now?
Maybe so. I don't know how you would look for people like that.
Let's go back to Takarapa.
Let's gather our thoughts. We should not move ahead into unknown waters.
We don't know who's at the northern post.
Maybe you should cover it. You said the people from your old life would have wanted powerful things.
This seems... this is powerful. Maybe don't let them know you have it.
That seems like probably the best idea.
Takarapa just kind of moves in and curls up wherever Kingu is.
In any space that is there.
Just near mom.
If there is a little spoon opportunity, it just gets in there.
A big day.
Sorry.
I was just saying you had a big day.
Yes, like Zao has a whole thing.
Now this thing is in my neck.
We'll figure this out.
Yeah, I'm just going to take just a nap. Just wake me up when something happens.
Yes, of course.
I'm just going to take a little nap.
Kicker, what are you going to do?
And then up on the deck of the ship, still within the last remaining darkness of the night,
Kicker takes a hop back and has a little vial in his hand and is laying out like a trail of sand on the deck.
And the cat is kind of following it.
And as it kind of plays with the first bit of it, it swirls and begins to form into this tiny little dust-might-earth elemental.
And it begins to swirl around the cat and the cat begins to play with it.
And Kicker is like, together, if we stay together, we will not drown.
If we stay together, we will not drown.
And as they begin to sail back towards their home, he hangs off the side of his ship,
never before named up to this point.
And in his ink, I'm going to use all my trinkets that are given to me.
He scrolls on the side of the ship in his kind of a dusk ink,
which is ink that can only be seen in, as it turns to night, the cat's ire.
What?
So sad.
As you guys settle in, and you tried to make your way home, Gelfis, one last thing.
You go and sit inside the hut, and Decker is curled up with Keon,
who's kind of just soothing and making him feel okay.
Running one giant, like, poofy elephant thing over his air.
Trunk, just gentle strokes.
And as, like, Tefra settles in, and Kicker is playing around with the cat and stuff like that.
You go into your journal, like you do in the mornings of affirmation,
and you go into it for reflection.
And scrolled in the top corner of your notebook is handwriting that doesn't belong to you.
And it is what you believe to be Laxana's writing.
And she asks you, found anything?
Gelfis looks at Decker and his mom and Tefra for a long time,
and says, or writes, cats are very weird.
And there are many, but perhaps just one very cute person in the south.
Okay.
You write that, and the ink seems to kind of just draw into the pages and disappears,
and you don't get a response.
And as you guys continue, as the morning starts to rise on another day,
you head home to Takarapa, and that's where we'll leave it.
Yay!
Thank you guys, thank you guys, thank you.
Thank you!
That was so nice.
That was a lot of fun.
Thank you.
That was very cool.
I love found family here.
Yeah.
Matchmaking.
Yeah.

Ashoka has to have a mom at all times.
At all times.
Always parental unit.
