This is our second update in terms of your progress, how you been doing, right? We did one update. Can I just say like an update? I don't even care if you're getting fitter or not, which I know you are, but your energy
Starting point is 00:00:59 levels are like through the roof right now. Screaming in the microphone shit. I was just trying to do something different. I should have kept it the. Yeah. No, it was rocking dude. It was good. They can't see you do the frickin' horns though with your hands. Okay. You know the frickin' devil. We gotta get on video. Yeah. We are. We're being recorded right now. Hey, what's up everybody? Wee! Yeah. That's why you should wear pants next time, Justin. Every time you do this, there's a word pants. He's always like, I'm just gonna wear no pants. God, I gotta let him breathe.
Starting point is 00:01:29 So let's talk about what's been going on since last week, because this is what we're entering week two. Week two, yeah. Of the challenge. Now I'm gonna just give the listeners, I'm gonna just tell the listeners what I see. So we were walking up, so. I just do a whole lot of section-ish.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Yes, yes, yes. Spounge. Oh, wow. Oh yeah. So we, at the moment, we record Mind Pump at the producer's house. And so me and Justin arrive at the same time, right? So this guy comes out of the car, and I'm looking at him,
Starting point is 00:02:00 and I'm like, and you can tell he's getting leaner. You can obviously tell he's getting leaner. But it looks like your arms grew. It's sweet. That's fucked up. I mean tell he's getting leaner. You can obviously tell he's getting leaner, but it looks like your arms grew Sweet, that's fucked up. I mean, that's cool. Me. Yeah. Do you feel like it? Do you thought out your shirts more? You look like yeah, well, yeah, you're doing unless you get your pump on before you come over You would just get my pump on you. Do it before you come over and see Hey, I gotta do it. I gotta do it. You guys are always flexing and shit. Yeah, yeah. No, I do feel like, I do feel a little bit of growth there. Yeah, my arms, I've, like I said, I've kind of concentrated a little bit more on them,
Starting point is 00:02:31 giving some love, so, you know, I've just been doing more, more frequent armwork and stuff, so maybe that's pain off. You've just, you've pleased me and Adam right now. Right now. So hypertrophy now. I like you to take me through like a typical day for you and are you? Well, today you just worked out. You said you worked out today.
Starting point is 00:02:51 I did. How did your day start till you work out till now? Everything for I want to know like feeding wise and work out whatever. Yeah, so I mean, I told you guys last week, I've been trying not to go so intense as far as my nutrition goes. Like now I'm starting to up that just a little bit. So I'm introducing a fasting a little bit more throughout my week. So this week will look like a couple days this week. I'm going to I'm going to do the warrior fast. And I started that today. So actually in the morning had ice coffee, black, nothing special, and basically had
Starting point is 00:03:29 our pre-workout mix, which was excellent. Got me through my lifting with compound lifts. And then after that I had a protein shake with some BCAs in there and feel recovered and haven't even eaten dinner yet or anything. Now what do you plan on eating when when you get home when I get home? I actually I'm probably gonna have some spinach like a healthy healthy portion of that with What else do I have with that? I had I actually started on the bison meat So I'm gonna start eating some of that and then I also have some some eggs
Starting point is 00:04:04 Beautiful with that as well. Yeah, that's very high of that and then I also have some eggs. Beautiful. Yeah. That's very high in the protein saturated fats, but I'll be honest. And at the end of all, that's the end of all. What about your workout? What did you do today? It was a foundation today or was it a trigger session today? Foundation today.
Starting point is 00:04:17 What did you do? So what I did today was, I did dead lifts and I did Zurcher Squats. Oh yeah, you texted us all this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I did, what else did I do after that? I did some Ben over Rose and then I did some Standing Curl. So everything with the straight bar. So I've been trying to kind of keep it all.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And you're following the whole, the kind of the Phase One. Phase One progression, exactly. A lot of, I'm pretty sure a lot of our listeners are not familiar with the Zurcher squat. This is an old school fucking hardcore exercise. It's pretty tough. Like, I started doing it because it's just,
Starting point is 00:04:57 it's just one of those lists I was never really, I hadn't concentrated on before and I just like to do one thing in my workout that I, you know know is a little bit different and so that that was my different one for today. Well maybe explain it so what is a zerture squat? So zerture squat you basically you're placing your arms you're bending them and it's almost like you're in a curl position but the bar is down where your elbow joint is and so you're keeping it real tight to your body and your ribs and then you you squat down and basically bracing. It's a lot of core activation as you're going down like a front
Starting point is 00:05:30 squat. But now it alleviates a lot of pressure on the wrists and everything. So I actually do these a lot with with my clients that they have any issue with wrists or you know, they play sports where I don't want to really impact their shoulder too much. Now, I imagine you're kind of light with that, because I can't imagine doing 225, holding onto that one. Oh, dude, there's guys that do a lot of weight in the Zertra. But it takes practice.
Starting point is 00:05:54 No, yeah, it takes practice, so I don't really do a whole lot with it. I do more front squat than I do, Zertra. Oh, I would imagine. I do Zertra sometimes. It's a lot of pressure there, dude. Yeah, I'm picturing you holding that with sometimes. It's a lot of pressure there. Yeah, that's a, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm picturing you holding that with the, you know, that's a lot right there.
Starting point is 00:06:08 Yeah, it's a lot of pressure on the elbow, but once you get used to it like anything else, you can, you can do, you can lift some massive weight. And you can keep it really close to your body, which anything you can keep close to your body and like not have your limbs extended, you're gonna have a lot more control. It feels to me like a combination of a front squat
Starting point is 00:06:24 and a deadlift. Yes, I would agree with that. And I notice when I threw in zurchers, and I haven't done them in a while, I think I'm gonna start doing them again, but when I throw in zurchers, both my deadlift and my front squat will feel better. Now I don't do them consistently enough
Starting point is 00:06:40 to notice like weight changes, but I do notice when I go to do deadlifts then, I just feel, you know, you know, you feel more stable, you could tell your body's more stable within a lift. Yeah. And I think if you're like a wrestler or somebody who, you know, get the clinch with someone, I'm lift them, a zircher squat is very, very similar
Starting point is 00:06:58 to what you're fun. Yeah, I can see that being a great exercise. So I know that like in the maps are maps, the first phase that you're in right now that one of the things, you know, you're typically hitting a lot of exercises or muscles multiple times during the week. So are you having to adjust your intensity
Starting point is 00:07:17 like each workout? So like let's say, I know you're not working out every Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I know it doesn't look like that, but let's say it was Monday, Wednesday, Friday. How are you kind of adjusting? Do you adjust your intensity, or is it the same every time, as far as how hard you train? I think it depends on the day.
Starting point is 00:07:33 The recovery day, so that the trigger session, that kind of uses the recovery day, and then so I'm hitting that a couple of times a day, real low intensity. To be honest, it spikes my energy up the following day. Is it in a while? honest, it spikes my energy up the following day. So, is it a wild? Yeah, it's just simple. I swear, it's such a simple concept. And every time I tell people to like, yeah, that makes sense. But until you do it consistently, it kind of blows you away.
Starting point is 00:07:55 It's frequency and consistency. And so I mean, that's really the recipe for all this stuff that, you know, I'm doing and I know you guys have had success with as well. Like it's, it really, that's just what, that's what it boils down to. Like you have a solid plan and like know you guys have had success with as well. It's really that's just what it boils down to. You have a solid plan and you got to keep moving, you got to keep working out and eating right and the more frequently and the more consistently you do it, it really starts to compile. Now I got another question. You normed before you would train very much on a functional basis where you would do
Starting point is 00:08:24 just movements and now you're looking at hypertrophy a little bit and all building muscle and looking a certain way And now you're also taking the pre-workout. I know before you don't really take anything pre-workout exactly Your pumps are you noticing a difference in the kind of pumps that you get when you're getting it? I'm getting a crazy pump for sure. Awesome. Yeah, it's burning Yeah, it's good. It's a good. I mean I'm enjoying it so far. Let's put it that way like I I honestly like I stepped away. I did hypertrophy type training a long time ago and And that's something that I also enjoyed it too, but I was away from it so long that like I you know What you know how it goes if you start doing something and you start getting better at you want to kind of keep keep that you know in the routine so
Starting point is 00:09:07 Like I used to just like to train for for movements and then getting you know Loading the way up on the major left and then just doing all these sort of athletic movements You know on top of that so for me to now concentrate on getting a pump and you know, on top of that. So for me to now concentrate on getting a pump and looking a certain way and focusing on arms and legs and everything else and like how I'm approaching that
Starting point is 00:09:34 is totally changed, but I like it so far. Fantastic. What about in the gym that you train, people are noticing that you're doing different things. Any comment? Are people asking you? This is funny actually that you mention that because things. Any comment? Are people asking you? This is funny, actually, that you mention that. Tell me what kind of gym you get in the workplace.
Starting point is 00:09:47 This is okay, you have a very unique... It's very unique in that it's a trainer-type gym, so this is where trainers bring their clients, and that's it. So, how it's set up, it's really set up for the trainer to train their client and then also to have a lot of tools and things to use the crazy amount of tools Lots of tools everything you would think of Very very functional equipment. Oh, bro, you would freak out like I have I've never in his wet dream I've been I've been to a lot of gyms and it's not big
Starting point is 00:10:18 But they literally have every crazy goofy tool you ever imagine just weird I remember every time I go there. I'm like, look at Justin Mike, what is this? I don't even know what some stuff is. Oh, and I've probably done it, like the bamboo by the way. Oh yeah, like you hope you hope it. No, this is what you use as far as I'm like, I don't even know what the hell is. You should give him a shout out.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Sounds like they're. Yeah, NorCal Functional Fitness. They're, I mean, they're expanding a little bit too and my other buddy just opened a one that's affiliated. So, if you're a trainer and private. But look into it. Yeah, if you guys are in the scene as the area, it's a great gym.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Anyways, all plugs aside, like I, what was I talking about? Just like the look of the gym. No, yeah, what kind of gym you're in? Because I know the guys, you didn't mention too that all these guys, so it attracts your educated experience. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Now you guys are talking about what they, because I get certain looks. Yeah, I already know what you're getting from these guys. I know them. I know these guys. Dude, they're, yeah, they're very, like, so here's the thing, like I, I went into the gym and it was very intimidating,
Starting point is 00:11:17 even though I know my shit, like everybody in there, like knows their shit too, and so you just get sized up right away. And so there, there's a couple different sort of trainers in there that have athletic backgrounds. They're just purely strength focused. They're power lifters. You know, everybody's very specialized.
Starting point is 00:11:37 And so, you know, there's some CrossFit guys in there. God bless them. But yeah, so there's a whole variety of people in there, and so there's like no like bodybuilders. There's no minz because he got in there. There's no minz because he's your bikini girl. Nobody's fucking, you know, doing Mirin or doing selfies or I'll tell you one thing.
Starting point is 00:11:58 And all it's I wouldn't work out there on a regular basis because there's not a lot of machines. There's not a lot of like you like, you'll get like mad dog, you can do it. There's squat racks in and halitools, bro. Yeah, the rack of dogbills. But it's always squat rack, there's plenty of squat racks, there's platforms, so you know, it's very,
Starting point is 00:12:19 I mean, you've got strength driven. Oh no, you do it. And every trainer, it's great, because what I do, you think think is great is that every time I've been in there, you know, there's five six seven trainers in there that are training and they're all everyone's doing very Cool shit with their clients. Everybody is doing either these really really specialized like functional movements I just looking at I'm already know that they're doing some specific for that client that to help them out with something They're trying to strengthen or better. They flexibility, the phone rolls are out everywhere.
Starting point is 00:12:45 They have every kind of cool stretching tool that you could think of. And it's just not your normal gym, don't you know? So yeah, so I'm doing curls and shit. And they're just looking at me like, dude, what's that? What's that? What's he doing? What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:12:59 I'm like, hey man, you know? You gotta get him to listen to the show. Check him out. Pump on. Bro, like, Like we bash. No, we don't bash, but yeah, I'm getting a lot of looks, but I mean they're supportive. I've been there so long now that they understand that and a lot of them actually listen to the show. Oh cool.
Starting point is 00:13:17 It's pretty cool. So they're following along. Yeah, so what do they say about me and I will they've met you. They've met you. They're probably like, they actually actually probably who are those two? I'm pretty sure they tell just yeah I'm pretty they just and is they tell Justin or maybe they don't tell me look at me like who's who's that douche bag buddy of yours Cuz I I come over in my fucking cutoff for takeoff and I'm clueless in my mirror around like yeah
Starting point is 00:13:40 So aren't you happy now? I'm more than So anyway, yeah, it's it's been cool though like Like I I seriously I don't care like like I've always said Like I don't care man when I'm gonna do my thing. I'm gonna do my thing Yeah, it's gonna suck it So we just we just did some measurements of you too and we're gonna post them But what do we measure your arms out was a 16.75? Mm-hmm. It would be it would be fascinating if your arms stayed the same as you got lean Or grew that would be crazy. I think that would be insane. I would love fascinating if your arms stayed the same as you got lean or grew that would be crazy
Starting point is 00:14:05 I think that would be insane. I would love it if they grew That's a pretty big fucking arm. That's an almost 17 inch arm. So that's that's not bad there and for those you guys listening a Genuine natural person with 17 inch arms is you see my person is impressive Especially as they get really lean. Oh, yeah, especially very especially not a big I'll got to go with it because there's a lot of dudes online that bullshit. Oh, I got yeah, especially if you don't have the big one. Got to go with it. Because there's a lot of dudes online. Oh shit. Oh, I got 18 in charge. No, you don't.
Starting point is 00:14:28 But very few people have legit 17 or 18 inch relatively lean arms. Most people don't. It's just, it just says, unless you're really tall, massive dude, it just doesn't happen. So yeah, hopefully, yeah, I can keep that. Awesome. Well, it'll be good.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Well, great job, my friend. Well, thank you. And you know go to mind pump radio Dot com follow along. He's gonna be posting measurements. There's before and after he's posting every week This is what's fucking crazy is he's posting weekly? What is happening in ladies and gentlemen? These are live pictures. This is not no bullshit. No, this is happening right now. So he could succeed or fail and you guys going to be there with us. You're going to see exactly how effective these programs are because you're going to be watching it on him live, which is crazy. Before you cut it off, I didn't get a chance to ask. And I have you this week, you know, I asked you this last week, this week,
Starting point is 00:15:17 any big challenges or anything that came up like any parties, birthday events like that this weekend. And I made some little video, like I was, I had to, was that the pizza? I had to go for a pizza. Oh, that's right, okay. Yeah, so that was for a birthday or something? Yeah, that was legit.
Starting point is 00:15:32 There was like four boxes of pizza. Okay, so how did you survive that, bro? I want to know. Dude, I mean, it was funny because I was like, really, you want me to go get them? Like, thanks. So, that was my son's birthday party. And so I went to a round table and I'm picking them up.
Starting point is 00:15:48 And I got in the seat. And it's just the whole car was just had this aroma. And you know what? At the beginning, where you're at right now, it's just the, that's the hardest. But it's the first year, first week or two. And you're just now kind of really, it's just so funny and ironic that like pizza,
Starting point is 00:16:04 I just picked that as a group. And everybody's been flaunting it in front of my face. Next, I think I'm going to do alcohol because I've actually started to cut, well, it started I have cut it completely, but that really wasn't that hard for me because it's just one of those things that I like. But if I start mentioning it, watch. There's gonna be people doing shots next to me. Yeah, they're gonna be trying to.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Did you fast or did you eat something else or did you have to have one slice of pizza? Like what did you do to handle it? I kinda did a fast, but I stuck to the veggie tray and they had this plethora of veggie. I just kept shoving them in my mouth. They did not batting water. Lots of greens, dude.
Starting point is 00:16:48 That's a great way to do it sometimes. I did that and then they had some sausages and that's it. I just sausages, like every now and then, these little tiny ones. So you just started to shove the sausages right now from the sausage in my mouth. It was so epic. You see what I'm doing right now?
Starting point is 00:17:03 Yeah, in my mouth. That's why we're not gonna show this video until much later. So that's a good little tip, tell you what you mean. And I utilize that, what you just said is, whenever I'm hungry, hungry like that, and I know I'm trying to restrict or hold back, is trying to fill up on roughage, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:18 getting kale or something. So there's the crunch on. Oh yeah, cucumber. Like one of my favorite things to do is to dice up cucumbers. Okay. And I'll keep them in tub where they're nice, like I'll put them in water so they keep, you know, well, everything juicy still or whatever.
Starting point is 00:17:30 And I'll just, I'll just eat. You know, I do the same thing. You know what helps me salt. If I salt the fuck out of some cucumber like that, it's like, oh, it just does it for me. Oh yeah, that's a great, it's a great, great little tip bro. And when you're trying to do that is.
Starting point is 00:17:42 And let's not forget to tell everybody mindpumpradio.com, you can do the exact same program that Justin's following. We've paired them together the nutrition and the workout System maps antibiotic and these nutrition survival guide We put them together massive discount and it's still available and until Doug tell us Yeah, we just want to we want people involved so, you know, please go check it out and...
