Starting point is 00:06:03 It is literally of all the big gross motor movement exercises, which bench press is one of them. So it's not a bad exercise. It's probably the least important in terms of strength. You know what I mean? Like if you're gonna tangle with someone, you don't wanna tangle with a dude that has a heavy squat or a deadlift or an overhead press,
Starting point is 00:06:22 you'll pick the bencher. And this leg just push you on your back. The guy with the impressive. Yeah, but he has like weak hips and slums. No, a guy who pushes, I think overhead press is a big deal. A guy who can go over the head. No, that's not saying. Strong shoulders are everything.

Starting point is 00:09:41 Well, I really think a chest brings the male physique. I mean, for me, it was one of my biggest challenges for a very long time. It had to been, God, I felt like it was eight years in a training and I mean, hammering my chest before. And I was, I was a guy who couldn't, I took me forever before I even got the big wheels. I remember I was such a big day for me.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Like they'd get the 45s on there. You know, it was bench press in the 25s and shit forever. Like I had no 45s on there, you know, it's been pressing the 25s and shit forever. Like I had no chest strength, a terrible form. Like, oh, it was a nightmare for me to try and build my chest and took a long time. And I still don't think I have this massive or impressive chest that what, whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:10:16 But it's come a long way from where it was for sure. And it's taking a lot of work. And I have to say, it's one of the things on my physique that I've put a lot of work into that I'm most proud of. Same thing goes with my shoulders. Those two things were two huge lagging body parts that when they started to develop and come together,
Starting point is 00:10:33 I think brought my overall physique. Yeah, I thought women like forearms. I thought forearms. So they spent a lot of a loan time. Yeah, I mean, that's how it thing. That's what I would think to Run Quick, what we call it's the motherfucking call bring us the questions dog

Starting point is 00:11:29 Very good Adam. Very good. You passed. I don't know as a stuff. He did anatomy. Here's not the physiology part. Just anatomy. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:11:39 If you look at the differences between men and women, they pale in comparison when you compare them to the individual differences between different people, between different women and different men. Very good point. So if I were to say you train women this way and you train men this way, it would be horribly inaccurate and ineffective because if I'm going to talk about the differences between training people, I'm not going to look at gender, I'm going to look at the individual. And that's really the key when it comes to training. Now the general rules of training, before you go any further, let's explain that,
Starting point is 00:12:11 because sometimes you say something that you just assume everybody gets what you just meant by that. That body types, in other words, and your genetic makeup, your lifestyle and how you respond to that exercise, and your experience, and your... We've all seen this, right? And we'll take a guy, male or female, that you look at and they have never even touched
Starting point is 00:12:30 weights before, but you remember looking at them in high school and they already had shoulders and arms to them and they look like they were built already. That female is totally different than the girl who's all petite and skinny as rails and has little to no muscle definition whatsoever to her. And the way they respond to weights is going to be incredibly different.
Starting point is 00:12:51 So thinking about it, and the male is the exact same thing. So those, the male who is just naturally built like that and has these aesthetics already at a young age before they even lifted weights, they're going to respond probably a lot differently than somebody else. And then it goes all the way up to the... There's all kinds of factors, like what kind of injuries you may have had What kind of muscle and balances you have what your lifestyle looks like your diet your emotional? There's emotional component your mood energy. I mean there's so many variables that make big impacts in terms of how you should train
Starting point is 00:13:19 That your gender is at the bottom. It's at the bottom. Let's like if I train someone I've been personal training now for almost two decades, and you guys almost as long, the last thing I consider when I train someone is their gender. When I ask someone questions on their assessment, I'm not writing down like, this is a woman, therefore I need to consider these factors. I kind of don't. The factors I need to consider tend to be very individual. Now, yes, there's hormonal changes and differences between men and women. There's different general considerations,
Starting point is 00:13:51 but no, there's no difference. Yeah, but it's a scale of weight. Like, I think the misconception is that, well, men will definitely want to drive the heavy, heavy weights with men. And then we're going to do like donkey kicks all day with women. I hate it. That do like donkey kicks all day with women. I hate it.
Starting point is 00:14:05 That's all advertising. That's all bullshit, Martin. And here's the thing, like women wanna see progress just like, you know, it's incremental, the amount of, you know, weight that they can handle. And so you assess it based off of like their ability and then you try and increase their ability. It's very simple.
Starting point is 00:14:23 It's not like it's drastically different in the way a male would train all the same mechanics, you know, how their body moves. It's the same. So, yep, some of the biggest lies in the fitness industry were put out to sell women products and gym memberships and supplements. So, you know, initially fitness was dominated by men because
Starting point is 00:14:46 it was considered unladylike for a woman to be physically active. And as so men were the ones that were in gymnasiums, this is why we call them gym, they were actually originally called gymnasiums. And eventually, you know, the gym industry realized, holy shit, there's there could, you know, women wanna lose weight, wanna get in shape or whatever, we can make a lot of money off them, but how are we gonna track them to something that has been society has deemed very male?
Starting point is 00:15:12 Yeah. And so what they've done is they've created a bunch of bullshit, you know, marketing and words to attract women like the word tone. The word tone was 100% invented to get women to lift weights in gems or to get women to buy membership. Just soften up the word muscle.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Yeah, they don't want to say, muscle. Build muscle because, you know, in the 70s or 80s when women started flocking to gems, if you told the woman she was going to build muscle, she'd fuck no, I'm not touching that. That's not about, no, no, no, don't worry. You're not gonna build muscle, you're just gonna tone.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Oh, okay, I wanna do that. Like that's a made up word. Muscles don't tone, they build or they shirk. It's a made of word that still works. You still have to use it. Yeah, still use. And I think, what are we doing here? Where are we doing a seminar or doing some,
Starting point is 00:16:03 what were we all together and I said the word, you know, and I'm ever catching myself. Like, see, that just goes to show you how much it's been implanted in my own brain when I'm talking to a woman. I naturally stay away from words that I know are gonna affect them that way. And that's just because I had to sell. I used to have to sell training.
Starting point is 00:16:19 And I was like, I know what's best for this woman. And I know that it doesn't, I'm gonna make her lift heavyweight and I know I'm gonna build muscle and that's how this works, but I can't present it that way because if I present it in a fact where, in a manner where I'm saying, okay, what we're going to do is we're gonna lift these weights
Starting point is 00:16:34 and I'm gonna build some good muscle on you. Like, oh my God. Well, you're speaking to a look too, with women a lot of times because it's like, sometimes like what they care about really is very aesthetic driven or it's like, you know, you know, like, have something in mind where they want to be, you know, and like, sometimes there's a difference there, maybe with, well, I want all these strength gains and I want to get massive and bigger
Starting point is 00:17:00 and all this stuff. And there's a process to that for men. But like at the same time, like it's muscle. Like what? You're just you're just building muscle and you know, most of your your physique obviously, you know, nutritionally and the way that you're training, you're going to be affected a certain way. But like what you're doing is building muscle. Oh dude, tell a woman she's going to gain some muscle. You're going gonna gain a few pounds of muscle on the scale and watch their faces like, no. No, I don't need that. I just want a tone. Yeah, I just want to get rid of the fat.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Yeah, I just want to get rid of the fat. I don't want to build it. Yeah, because what's underneath all this fat is really, really good muscles. Like, no, you don't have good muscle. We need to build some. Yeah. Before we do that.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Or how about this? How about the, you know, training in this fashion will give you long muscles. We'll lengthen your muscles. You'll get the luck to get changed. You'll get the luck to get changed. You'll get the luck to get changed. You'll get the luck to get changed.

Starting point is 00:18:12 And then the way that they sell it is then they use the example of the ultimate form of pilates, which is a ballet dancer. They'll say, look at a ballet dancer, very long lean tone muscle. Genetically, and then they'll say, and then they'll dancer, very long, lean, tone, muscle. Genetic. And then they'll say, but look at a female bodybuilder. You don't want to look like that. And so this is why we've got so many, why the fitness industry has just created all this this false narrative that women in particular need to be trained differently. And then the supplement industry just followed suit, you know, like, here's his fat burner
Starting point is 00:18:43 for women. And it's pink. Yeah. and the bottle is a different color You know, I used to have to tell them like when I'd see and you could always tell right away when you it's always the you know It's funny the girl who is most worried or concerned about looking like a dude has the worst genetics to everything has the least ability She comes in I'm looking at it. I'm going like this is gonna be very hard for us to build muscle. You just, you got, you got shit jeans just like me, right? That's what's going through my head, right? When I see him, I'm looking at him, I'm like, I think we she couldn't be more of an ectomor, right? And she's telling me, I don't want to build a bunch of bulky ones. Listen, girl, we could train the next five years,
Starting point is 00:19:19 fucking trying to build as much muscles you possibly can't happen. Anyway, never going to look anywhere near like these girls you're afraid you're gonna look like. It makes me laugh because this is the other thing that I'll tell women that I'll train. It'll say no, no, no, no, no, you don't understand. I build muscles so easily, you know, what ladies told me, she's like,
Starting point is 00:19:34 when I was 17, I worked at Baskin Rob and scooping ice cream on my arm, got so muscular on my face, fuck you fit in here. I think. Yeah, and this is what I told her, I said, look, okay, I said you could literally have the most ridiculous muscle building jeans on the planet. You could have serena Williams's
Starting point is 00:19:50 muscle building jeans inside of you today and I could give you a bunch of steroids and we could lift weights hell of hard today and I promise you won't wake up tomorrow looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It still will take some time. And if you're one of those blessed long time, if you're one of those blessed. Long time. If you're one of those lucky women that builds muscle easily and believe me, you are lucky if you build muscle easily because you have a great ability to manipulate metabolism. But if you can build muscle easily,
Starting point is 00:20:14 it's a great place to be where you get to the point where you go, you know what? I'm gonna stop lifting weights. I don't want to build too much muscle now. That's a fucking great place to be. But it won't happen overnight. You're not gonna wake up tomorrow and look like Adam and be like, oh fuck, I told him I don't want to build too much muscle now. That's a fucking great place to be, but it won't happen overnight. You're not gonna wake up tomorrow and look like Adam and be like, oh fuck, I told him I don't want to build muscle.

Starting point is 00:20:42 How do you transition from tracking food religiously to eating mindfully? Oh, okay. This is cool. She's asking about how to go from one, you know, how to go from one relationship to food to a more favorable relationship to food. There's some challenges. I think we should talk about the challenges before. Well, it sounds like she's probably a competitor, right? Yeah, or she's in the industry, right?
Starting point is 00:21:08 In the industry, like, because I mean, for the most part, people that are like that obsessive about, you know, tracking food and weighing food and all that kind of stuff, it definitely stems from a competitive nature, you know, from my experience. It is. I mean, of nature, you know, from my experience. It is. I mean, here's why you don't want to always be stuck in the super strict tracking of food every single day because it makes it a job. It makes it not enjoyable. You start to kind of lose track of the signals that your body tells you because you're so focused on the things that you're tracking because when people are speaking of tracking their food, they're talking about macro, you know, proteins, that's carbs and calories.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Step one is you have to be okay with not hitting your macro sometimes. Now, that doesn't mean that you're okay with going away the fuck off the deep end, but you have to be okay with, you know, my target for protein is 120 grams and today had 80. You have to be okay with that kind of stuff every once while. You have to be okay with feeding yourself and listening to signals other than performance in the gym, fat loss, or muscle gain. You have to sometimes listen to signals like how I feel emotionally, how I feel energy wise, my skin, my digestion, my sleep, my libido, and start to eat according to those. It doesn't mean you're gonna be mindless
Starting point is 00:22:34 with your eating and I'm just gonna eat whatever I want. You're still paying attention to it. You're just reading different signals and saying to yourself, like, you know, I think today I need to eat a lot of vegetables or I think today I need more fat. Or, you know, today I've noticed yesterday my performance was low, and my energy was low.
Starting point is 00:22:52 So I think today I need to increase my calories and I'm gonna eat it in protein or whatever. I think that's an important point too. Like, you're not gonna like totally dismiss all these metrics that are there, right? Like, those are just things that you're gonna be more aware of, like even if it is like your body fat, like you can see that visibly, you know?
Starting point is 00:23:10 So you're gonna be able to wake up and, you know, however many weeks into your program, you can really assess and see how your body's changing throughout the entire process. But like we're more considering like more of the other feedback too alongside that. So as far as, if I've eaten enough, if whatever I'm eating is causing
Starting point is 00:23:32 like some sort of an inflammation or reaction, and then I'm gonna adjust accordingly if I feel like I'm probably not consuming as much water as I need, or you have to start thinking of all these different things to become more intuitive and that takes practice. So Adam, have you tried making this transition? Because I know you're probably amongst the three of us, the biggest tracker. Yeah, and this is, I love these questions. And I love these questions a lot because I like to hear
Starting point is 00:24:00 you guys go first because I think we're all so different with the way our food relationship is. And not saying that any of us have a better relationship than the other person, just, we have a different approach about what works really. Well, you're more in love than us. I'm in love with you. Yeah, we all have just a different approach. And obviously, for someone who's competed on stage
Starting point is 00:24:23 and stuff with this, I obviously had to, you know, there was, you know, you had to get to a point where I was tracking ridiculously. And I most certainly do not, I'm not tracking at the moment right now. So I have to have this transition every time I get ready for a show, and then when I come out of a show. And there's a couple of things. First of all, first and foremost, I am not, I'm not somebody who believes that, you shouldn't track at one point. I'm so such a believer that, you know, if you get coached by me, it's mandatory that when we start, I want you to track and I want it to be a job and a pain in the ass for you because it's like going
Starting point is 00:25:02 to school with me. I mean, and you're going to have to learn a little bit and work in that's just part of it. You know what? I'm going to, I'm going to put you through this. It's not going to be fun that you're, I'm going to make a track and pay attention and log everything, but I just don't think you can really, really understand unless you've gone through all the schooling and you understand nutrition at the, at the, at the, an experience and level that the guys in this room do. And even then, I, I think that I, like my paradigm was shattered when I started to have to log and track and really pay attention to how different foods affected my body, not, and not just physically how
Starting point is 00:25:38 I felt in performance, but obviously aesthetically, because I'm getting on stage. So, first and foremost, I'm huge on tracking, tracking your food and figuring out what your body needs and then what you where it needs to be to get to wherever your goals are. Then from that point, once you feel like you have a really good understanding and by a really good understanding, that means I can, I know that what a normal day of hitting my targets looks like. I know what 200 grams of protein looks like,
Starting point is 00:26:09 spread out over two meals or four meals or six meals, whatever you're eating habits are. So I know what that looks like. I know what 150 to 300 grams of carbohydrates looks like. I understand that. Then once I understand that and I know what my body needs, then what I do is, then I'm looking at the markers like saline, just and we're saying I'm paying attention to how I feel and I'm just being mindful of, you
Starting point is 00:26:36 know, today I'm not tracking. I'm not paying attention and, you know, it's here it is four o'clock and I've had a me, one of my meals had four or five eggs in it and I had a chicken apple sausage. And so I know that I'm sitting around 40 or so grams. Give or take, I don't know, because I'm not tracking. I might have 40, I might have 60 grams of protein somewhere in that range, but still is not enough for where I need to be. So my next meal or two, I need
Starting point is 00:27:05 to be mindful of that when I make the choice of what I'm going to eat, not going to weigh it, not going to measure it, just going to be mindful of it that I still need a couple more servings of that protein. And or, let's say I decided that morning, I'm going to have a huge bowl of oatmeal plus a cup of fruit with it. I know now that I took in 75 to 100 grams of carbs. I've got plenty of carbs to get my day going and going through the rest of the day and I don't need much later on the night.
Starting point is 00:27:31 So maybe lap tonight when I would normally come home and have a carb, a protein, and a fat. Maybe I just eliminate the carbohydrate. And I do things like that and I adjust, but I couldn't have done that had I not tracked. So tracking is the step, it's the next step from where most people are at, then you get a track because they have to be conscious
Starting point is 00:27:52 of what's going on. Then the step after that is I think what we're talking about, where you get to the mindful eating, like for me, I go, you know, I look at these signals, like, oh, I look in the mirror, okay, I'm getting a little bit smoother. I'm gonna cut back on my carbohydrates a little bit or it's a summertime.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Fruit is really in season in the summer. I'm gonna include a little bit of fruit and see how I feel or I think I need more fat in my diet because my skin's feeling a certain way or I'm craving this particular food. Why am I be craving it? Maybe I need this particular nutrient or I haven't eaten organ meats for a while
Starting point is 00:28:26 or I haven't eaten fish for a while. I definitely pay attention to cravings. That's something that is striking for me. I know when I'm somewhat deficient in a type of vegetable or something like that, that I'm craving it because my body just wants that. So this is what inspired the nutrition survival guide. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:47 So this way, this mindful way eating, which, you know, if we ever get a complaint on the the matriutions of our guy, somebody is going, Hey, where's the exact diet of what? We're the meal plan. Where's the meal plan of telling me exactly what I'm supposed to eat like no, knucklehead. That's not, that would be as generic as you could get. The idea is to teach you how to be mindful. And so we talk about eating eating from eating with color and learning how to choose from food groups and and giving you this wide selection of different foods. It isn't precise yet has a macro counter in there so you can calculate and you can figure out precisely what you're supposed to
Starting point is 00:29:20 be individually taking. But the idea of the guide is to teach you how to just be mindful understanding that, hey, you should be choosing so many fruits from here. You should be choosing so many foods from here. Well, even with the fruits, I got a question recently about bananas. And why would that be something that maybe in terms of the hierarchy of fruit, if I'm looking at that
Starting point is 00:29:44 from a glycemic index perspective, that's gonna be higher on there. So you have to, it just helps you to consider things. It's like, maybe I should stick with some berries more, so it's gonna go more towards my goal where I can get these type of phytonutrients that I need for a nice diverse gut biome, and just to add that in, because you do get a lot of benefit from fruits and fibers and lots of these nutrients.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Like some of them are a little higher, so you have to have that knowledge. So you're not just grabbing something that tastes sweet and yummy. That is such a great point because you could take two meals. One person has a salad that's full of all these, you've got meats and nuts and maybe some cranberries in there. It's got spinach, mixed greens, all kinds of stuff in there and veggies, mushrooms, all kinds of great valuable things in it, you know, four to six ounces of meat, and then you got another meal where you go and you have
Starting point is 00:30:55 chicken breasts and rice. Well, then you have the other person who eats, you know, decides that they're going to have, you know, a handful of almonds, and they have a banana, and then their next meal, they have, you they have rice and something else. Those two people believe it or not, even though they're both eating healthy, it's totally different. It's totally different what they're consuming and what they're getting. You don't really understand that until you track and you compare and contrast those things.
Starting point is 00:31:17 And then once you've done that, then you can do just like with Sal saying, I always do where I'll go, okay, yesterday, I had, you know, try and tip and then I had a steak for breakfast. Okay, I had a real heavy red meat day. You know, so today I'm gonna target, you know, I'm gonna try and get some chicken in there. I'll probably get some fish in there.
Starting point is 00:31:37 You know, so I'm just kind of paying attention to, you know, and I'm not, you know, I don't care that the chicken breast is, you know, a hundred less calories than the steak that I had. Like, I'm not really tripping because I'm not tracking. I'm not getting that crazy. But I am paying attention to the choices and that I'm cycling my food and I'm rotating different things. That's a good point because then you'll see people who track and they'll be like, oh, crap.
Starting point is 00:31:58 I need another 10 grams of fat. What do I do? Oh, I'm going to go eat two tablespoons of olive oil. Like what? I just because they're trying to hit this, like, number, the specific number and not really paying attention to how the body feels. Why are you eating a tablespoon of peanut butter
Starting point is 00:32:11 after you eat all your, you know, after your salad? Oh, I gotta hit my macros. I'm like, what? But I mean, would you normally do that? Would you normally just randomly throw in? No, and not to mention that. And I've said this recently a lot lately. I've seen it on the forum.
Starting point is 00:32:23 I've been inboxed on it a lot lately. And I think we've even had a Q&A on this other day, is understanding that our bodies don't work on a 24 hour clock. So this whole like, you know, these are your macros. This is your daily macros. Just was like, well, it's not really your daily macros.
Starting point is 00:32:38 It doesn't, doesn't, doesn't you want it? You can average it out over the course of a week. And that's all that is, is it? Exactly. So if you're, if you missed 30 grams of fat today, it's not like, holy shit, that's going to be a big deal tomorrow. If you end up taking 15 to 20 or 30 grams more than what you were supposed to, you'll
Starting point is 00:32:54 be fine. Well, I got to admit that like, and I, and I honestly, 100% agree with you, Adam, as far as like getting really involved with like tracking macros and just getting more educated as far as the decisions that are gonna make the most sense towards your individual goals and also in a way that's a healthy way. So I'm actually benefiting my body internally in long term and all these kinds of things I'm considering
Starting point is 00:33:22 and bringing down inflammation and all these kinds of things I'm considering and bringing down inflammation, you know, all these kinds of stuff. But, you know, I also feel like once I kind of transitioned out of that, right, and got into more intuitive stuff. Like for me, it was, it was fasting. And so talking along lines of like looking at from a weekly perspective as opposed to a daily intake perspective. You know, that man that was so liberating for me because it's like you start looking at it as the entire week.
Starting point is 00:33:53 So maybe like, oh, man, I was really overloaded yesterday, you know, and like I really, I consumed quite a bit. You know, I'm not really going to consume that much. And it's fine. You know, and then maybe the next day I'll go up, maybe I'll be in the in the middle somewhere. Um, but it's, it's, it's this ebb and flow, uh, for the way that I can, I can have flexibility in my life. Um, but at the same time, I know that I can come back if I'm trying to present myself in a certain way. I know how to do that. Makes life a lot easier. Yeah. Well,
Starting point is 00:34:24 think of it this way too. This is why I bring up the whole 24-hour clock. And because somebody was asking me, well, what? I'm getting ready to do a carbicide. Oh, refeed. They're asking about a refeed and exactly how to do it. They want to numbers and be precise.
Starting point is 00:34:39 And it's like, well, it really depends on what you're two to three days before that. Look like activity wise, what you consume. Because think of it like a car and your carbohydrates, your glycogen, right? Your body has got a gas tank and you consume food and it fills up your gas tank. Well, how much you filled your gas tank up the day before will make a difference two days later. You don't run out of gas all the time right away every single day.
Starting point is 00:35:06 Your body still starts like it's like you go, you empty your tank every day and then have to fill it for exactly the body stores these glycage stores this glycage in for energy later on. And then let's say you decide yesterday, you're just hot rodding around and you're every time you come from a stop sign, you throttle down and then you throttle down again, like your body is going to utilize or your car is going to use gas differently on that day versus a day when you're keeping the RPMs at 3,000 and you're just cruising everywhere and you're rolling to a stop and you're being very mindful of how hard you push. The body's the same way too. If you're throttling down really hard, how much energy and fuel you're using and
Starting point is 00:35:45 what systems your body's having to kick in, that stuff all matters. So there isn't this exact formula and preciseness of yes, you should refeed 350 grams of this because you just came off this and this is your macro target is getting your brain wrapped around that. Panda muscle. How do you define respect? Are we S-P-E-C-T? Find I would've made to me. Yes, P-C-T.

Starting point is 00:36:39 It's very cool, because we didn't tell anyone to do it. It just kind of happened, so I kind of think it's neat. It's pretty neat. How do you define respect? That's a tough one. You know, I gotta think about one, I respect other people, what does that mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:52 When I respect someone else, I consider them a good person. I admire, I typically admire the people that I respect for whatever reason, whether it be because of the work ethic or their integrity or you know Things that I tend to find admirable and people It's not fear. I think a lot of people think that you gain respect by making people scared of you You know you see this a lot especially you know with young males like you know that full better respect me
Starting point is 00:37:22 You know when you're looking for fear, fear is only last as long as the guy is scared of you. As soon as he's not scared anymore, it's gone. And sometimes that means they're not around. He's always a bigger tougher guy out there. Yeah, or you're just not around now. Now you're not around. He doesn't have to fear you anymore.
Starting point is 00:37:38 There goes your respect. I think you have to give respect to earn it a lot of times. There's a lot of people out there who have very, very sensitive egos and it's very difficult for them to admit or even to say that someone else taught them something or someone else knows more than they do or someone else is better than them at something. And one of the best ways I've ever found that's gained me respect, and it's not because
Starting point is 00:38:07 I'm out there seeking it, that's the other thing too. If you're consciously trying to get respect from people, you typically won't get it. It just kind of happens. But one of the things that I've noticed that people respected me for was my ability to say I was wrong and to admit that other people are better than me or smarter than me or whatever in a particular subject. I think when you do that and you show that humility and your humble in that sense, people respect you for it, especially so common in the fitness industry where nobody wants to
Starting point is 00:38:39 admit that they don't have all the answers. Everybody has all the answers all the time. I mean, you asked some of these fitness gurus, quote unquote gurus on social media. Any question related to fitness, and I guarantee you they're gonna give you an answer, like they have the answer. Very few of them will say,
Starting point is 00:38:57 you know what, I don't know, I really can't comment on that particular subject, or you know what, I don't know, but here's someone who does now. You'll see very few of them do that because there he goes or two, two cents of it. I don't respect those kind of people. Well, I think, yeah, I think you know a lot of things that I would consider, you know,
Starting point is 00:39:15 respectable in my opinion as far as, you know, you look at somebody's character, their integrity, just there. But for me, really, it's about, it's about that mental fortitude. It's about, you know, resilient being able to overcome whatever life throws at you. And that could be in any form, you know, it could be somebody that's battling a disease or, form. It could be somebody that's battling a disease or somebody that all the odds are stacked against them. They worked really hard for something. It's just those type of characteristics that I feel like there has to be some kind of adversity there that is compelling. It draws me to that person because their ability to overcome that adversity. I seek knowledge from that person
Starting point is 00:40:11 and how they were able to do that. And so even if it is, it to be humble, right? If it's somebody that has the ability to admit they're wrong and they're put under fire for it, but they have the humility to admit that, yes, I need to work on this, or I'm not good at this, but I want to be good. If you want to be good, that to me is respectable. Yeah, I remember what, a long time ago, I was hanging out with a buddy of mine, and he was
Starting point is 00:40:43 a very, very tough guy. He was a trained boxer, he was a wrestler, the dude kicked some serious ass, but he was also very confident in his ability to do what he, to be able to do that. And I remember we were hanging out and some kid who he could have killed him if you wanted to. Some kid got all up in his face and pushed him
Starting point is 00:41:04 and got out with him. And my buddy very confidently turned around, walked away and said, let's just go, cause it's not worth it. And I remember thinking, sure, the people around have no idea, but I know what this guy is capable of. And I remember thinking,
Starting point is 00:41:18 I regained him a tremendous amount of respect because he had the ability to restrain himself. He felt no threat from the guy. Of course, he would defend himself if he had to. But I remember having tremendous respect for him because he didn't have to hurt anybody. He just, whatever, I'm gonna turn around. It's not a big deal.
Starting point is 00:41:36 And I had tremendous respect for him. But I looked up the word respect while I were talking, Justin, you can use it. It's interchangeable as a verb with the word admire. So it's really about how you admire people. And- Oh, look at that. It actually line right up with the words you said.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Yeah, yeah, so it's perfect. But like I said, for me, people who work hard will always earn my respect. Hard working people always, I respect. Always. I guess I have a little bit different philosophy on all this. First of all, I was raised, you know, you do, under others, have you, one to do, under you, right? I guess I have a little bit different philosophy on all this.
Starting point is 00:42:05 First fall I was raised, you do unto others have you, one to do unto you, right? So I felt like, you know, when I first, when I meet anybody and I know, I know you guys, if you think hard about like all the relationships we've already had and encounters we've had with people that maybe we don't care too much about, I have this ability to find something about you that I do respect them. And that's because I want to give them back to me. And I know that I first have to give that.
Starting point is 00:42:30 And so even when I meet somebody who somebody else would just be, oh, he's just a total douchebag or he's this or that, that's not my style. Like I'll find out something about that person that I respect and that I like. And I'll latch onto that instead of latching on all the things that I don't see eye to eye with that person. So it takes a lot for me to not respect somebody. I always want to give that respect just because we have different views or mindsets or we might not go about life the same way.
Starting point is 00:42:59 I respect that. To each their own, we all have our own pathways. We all have our own morals. We all have our own morals. Who am I to say that just because our morals don't align with each other or our values or the way we look at life is completely different? I respect that. I respect you for being that person.
Starting point is 00:43:16 If I don't respect you, that means you've really disrespected me. That means I've constantly given you that respect. I've been a good person to you and you have found a way to continue to disrespect me for whatever reasons that is. And at that point, then you have lost respect for you. So I initially give people respect. I think sometimes probably more than I should. But that's just my personality because I want to give everybody a chance. I believe there's good in every person. I believe, I believe most people do have good intentions.
Starting point is 00:43:49 I think they're, they can be tainted or jaded for whatever reasons, the way they grew up or whatever has happened to them or, you know, whatever. And I'm always, I always like to keep an open mind to that. I don't know this person's history. I don't know what they're going through currently. I don't know what's happened to them in the past to make them be or act the way they are right now. So I'm gonna give them respect because you know maybe they're they're dealing with something that I couldn't deal with or I couldn't handle and just the fact that they're alive and moving and they're at work or they're doing whatever they're doing. Like I have respect for that. Like you know more power to them. I don't
Starting point is 00:44:21 know your story yet. But if I, if I give you all that respect, and I continue to give it to you regardless of if you're an asshole or not, and then you, then you continue to disrespect me or not return, return that, then, then I don't like you. And then, then I don't, you don't have my respect anymore. And at that point, you probably will never get it because I feel like I give it to you first, and then it's something you can lose. So that's kinda how my philosophy is with respect. CK Fit Life, can you intermittent fast on workout days?
Starting point is 00:44:54 Shoot yeah. Absolutely. We talk about, we outline all of this in our fasting guide, that we have on mindpumpmedia.com, but fasting, I fast on days that don't work out, probably more consistently on days I work out, excuse me then on days I don't work out because I feel really good when I, yeah, energetic. I feel way more energetic. Like if I eat a lot of food or too much food or heavy meal, you know, before my workout,
Starting point is 00:45:21 I don't have nearly as good a workout as if I go into it fasted. Ironically, I find it easier on workout days. It's a fast? Yes. Really? What do you find easier about it? I find it easier because, like, right now, I'm getting hungry. So, let's say I was fasted all morning long. I would go to my workout right now. And once I start drinking that water and lifting, that hunger feeling that I have, goes away, and the growth hormone production
Starting point is 00:45:46 kicks up, the adrenaline kicks up, I get into the workout, I get a great pump, I feel phenomenal. And then I'm not starving afterwards, like I would have thought. Well, it makes me, yeah, it makes me look forward to my meal too. I do, I feel like, so I'll mention, I feel like it weighs me down a bit in the workout. I could feel it sloshing around and getting in my way versus just having that energy spark and I'm driving towards the end of it and then the reward there is to refuel. I definitely think that there's huge benefits to both. I highly recommend to people many, many times to fast on your
Starting point is 00:46:26 non-active days. You know, it's a day off. You're going to lounge around and watch TV. Like if there was ever time, you don't need a bunch of fuel in your body, that's the time. So I would recommend on off days a lot to people. But those are, I find those the most challenging. Of course, because you're not as busy you're sitting around. Yes. I'd rather not fast on those days and fast on the days I work out. Yeah, so it takes more discipline, I feel like to fast on your off days. So if you actually already have success
Starting point is 00:46:52 with fasting on your off days, incorporating a fast during your workout days, you might find is even easier and you might enjoy it even more. No, and you've got plenty of energy stored from your previous meal when you're fasted. I mean, if I wake up in the morning and I don't eat anything, and then I work out,
Starting point is 00:47:09 like I normally do, I normally work out anywhere between noon to two o'clock. So I don't eat a damn thing until maybe an hour after I start my, two hours after my start my work. And so my first meal is usually 2 PM to 4 PM is when I'll eat. So I don't need anything from wake up till then.
Starting point is 00:47:29 I have a great workout and I have energy in my body from dinner and the day before. It's not like I go in there with nothing. You know, it carries over. There may be some days where, you know, I'm a little lower energy and that's where I might be more inclined to get like a coffee or something or something with some caffeine, but like it's not gonna weigh me down
Starting point is 00:47:48 as far as eating through the workout, but I'm not gonna throw a bunch of sugar or anything in there for me to just get that kind of spike. I don't want that kind of energy because that's when I tend to have a lol in my workout. It is. If I do eat anything before my workout, it's hours before my workout. I really do not like going into a workout, having eaten an hour or two before. I'm just fucking tired. I just get sleepy and sluggish. If I ate at 8 a.m. and my workout is at like 2 p.m. then I can do that.
Starting point is 00:48:26 But I'm not going to eat it noon and then go work out it too. I'm just going to feel shitty. I talked about this strategy on my periscope the other day because somebody was asking like post workout meal. And when you eat this and that, I'm like, well, when I'm leaning down, especially if I'm incorporating intermittent fasting, I'm trying to stretch out as long as I can before I am going to eat. So let's say, and this, I just was just two days ago. So two days ago, I was, I did one of my intermittent fast. So for me, I like to do like a 17 hour, like, warrior type of fast, right? I mean, there's so many different types of names.
Starting point is 00:48:57 How many of them do we list six different ones that are in there? And there's nothing wrong with modifying it for yourself, too, because the real benefits kick in around 12 hours, around 12 hours. And of course, that's it. Well, they've also proven that, like, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the 21 hours or longer, is the most beneficial. Yeah, between 24 and 72 is the most benefits they've seen.
Starting point is 00:49:23 It's the most they've studied anyway. Yes. So, and once again, like I was talking 24 and 72 is the most benefits they've seen as far as they've studied anyway. Yes. And once again, like I was talking on an earlier episode or earlier question I can't remember when I was talking about the whole fuel, not 24 hours. So all that stuff comes into a factor. If you had this huge ginormous meal at 9 p.m. the night before, you're going to have a lot more fuel and store energy at noon or one than the guy or the girl
Starting point is 00:49:45 who, you know, balls of the wall cardio before they went to bed and they had like, you know, fish and disparagus, right? Those two people, their fuel reserves are completely different, so the fasting is gonna affect them differently, right? So, you know, you want to get to at least that 12 hour mark. Once you get that 12 hour mark, I'm really trying to push the fast as far as I can before I really feel like I need to feed the body. So I'll go and, you know, on my cell between noon and two is my workout. The other day my last meal the night before was I think at nine o'clock was the last meal ahead.
Starting point is 00:50:17 So then I plan to eat right around two and if I could stretch it any longer, that's great. So, you know, 11 o'clock rolls around. I'm starting to get hungry and I'm like, oh, God, I want to eat, but it's okay. I'm getting ready to go get my workout. And I know once I start lifting, that hunger feeling will go away and I'll be into my workout.
Starting point is 00:50:33 So sure as shit, I go to get my workout in, have a great workout. Feel energy, feels awesome, great, everything. Get down with the workout. And now that that starving feeling that I had thought I had felt before it's gone away. And I'm still want something to eat, but I'm nowhere near like I feel like I need to eat. So then I just keep stretching out the fast. I decide I'm not going to eat for like another two hours. I waited till Katrina got home and then we had dinner together.
Starting point is 00:50:57 So I ended up pushing like a 19, 20 hour fast instead of like a 17 like I would normally do. So if you're trying to lean out, there's huge benefits to that. For you stretching that fast out for an even longer period of time, you don't have to like, you know, try and time this where you work out and then you eat right afterwards. Yes, there's studies that show benefits to, you know, fueling the body right after a fast and right after workout, la, la, la, la, la,
Starting point is 00:51:20 but once again, we're splitting hairs. I'll say the only people that should worry about fasted workouts are the real, the long and during time. If you're going out and you're going to do a 15 mile run, unless you're ketogenic, if you eat a ketogenic diet and you're fat adapted and you've been eating ketal for a while, then you can definitely run fasted
Starting point is 00:51:39 because you've got plenty of fat stores on your body. But glycogen, we're pretty limited. And if you're a carbohydrate eating endurance athlete and you're doing really long 20 mile bike ride or a 10, 15 mile run and you're a triathlete or whatever, then yeah, you're probably gonna wanna fuel yourself sometime before your workout. And then maybe in the middle of your workout as well,
Starting point is 00:52:01 some of them will snack on carbohydrates in between to give themselves energy. But other than that, for most people listening who go to the gym for an hour and lift weights, and that's it. I mean, now fasting is not only can you fast on workout days, but it's for a lot of us. It's fucking awesome. Most of it's ideal. It's exactly, especially when you're trying to, your goal is to lean down, which I feel like most people that are incorporating intimate fasting are trying to do. Just just make sure you do it right. Starting point is 00:52:29 Grace Belt, who are your top five favorite UFC fighters past and present? Oh, yeah. See, I have, I don't watch a lot of mixed martial arts anymore, but I have a very, very special connection and relationship to UFC because I watched, you know, we bought the first UFC pay-per-view, the very, very, very first one when I was a kid.
Starting point is 00:52:54 Well, I watched him before, it was even on pay-per-view. Did you watch on VHS? I was underguess. Yeah, I was under ground. We're at cage fighting, right? No, first pay-per-view didn't come till later. No, the very first UFC was pay-per-view. The very first UFC no first pay-per-view didn't come till later no the very first UFC was pay-per-view the very first UFC One was pay-per-view
Starting point is 00:53:09 Okay, when it was US called before it was called UFC before you have see there were cage fighting that you could watch videos Valley Tudot you could watch all the graces all the sham rocks all those guys and you'd watch them like they would fight in Japan You know the Japanese had... It was tournament style. Yeah, tournament style, they had the... No weight classes. Yeah, they had what's called shoot fighting, or pink, you know, pink ration fighting, they'd call it where
Starting point is 00:53:32 you could hit with an open hand of the face and you could do all sorts of moves. So bitch slapped you. Yeah, boss Routin was a man with that shit. He would knock people out with a fucking slap. He was a man. Anyhow, the very first UFC was pay-per-view. I remember as a kid watching the commercial for it,
Starting point is 00:53:46 and they advertised it like, martial art versus martial art, what's the best style of fighting? Boxing versus karate or a, yeah. And I was like, it was a fucking dream madness. It was a dream come true for a kid like me who was a huge martial art. I was like watch snakes and tigers fight.
Starting point is 00:54:04 Dude, it was a, what's gonna happen? It was a huge, I was a huge Kung Fu movie, you know, martial art movie, watching kid, loved, Bruce Lee, and it was dragon. All the old Kung Fu shit, yeah. David Karring. Yeah, all that stuff. Slow motion.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Yeah, it was real slow kicks. So I was always like, you know, and it was always that debate when I was a kid, like what's's the best martial art? Now, my dad was a judo competitor in Italy. He was very good and as a kid, I did some judo, but of course, when I was a kid, the popular martial arts were Taekwondo, karate, kung fu, when you watch movies, nobody did judo or judo. That's what it was on. Yeah. It was all spin kicks and all his fancy shit And so I'm like this could be fucking awesome. So first one comes on Now my dad who was a judo guy and also grew up very poor and sizzling got a lot of fights Like he kind of knew what time it was so when they were coming on he kept telling me said watch out for the wrestlers and the judo guys
Starting point is 00:54:59 He was watching so right now. I remember thinking like no way did the Kung Fu guys gonna fuck him up I can do he's gonna do fucking you know, do the crane. Yeah, he just crazy shit, right? And I nobody was paying attention to hoist gracy. Yeah, hoist gracy comes out. He's this skinny. He was like 180 something pound tall, not muscular, not strong, not aggressive. Brazilian dude kind of looks like a nerd.
Starting point is 00:55:22 Like if he came out on the street and I don't know who he was, I'd be like, I'll kick that guy's ass. No problem. He comes out and I'm like, he's gonna get destroyed. Then he had Ken Shamrock in the first one, who's just, he looks like, He's all really nice, jacked up. He's all jacked, you know, huge, he's wearing a speedo. He looks like, like a, WWE wrestler.
Starting point is 00:55:38 He does look like a WWE. You know, he looks like, he looks like Soda Pupinski from freaking, from Mike Tyson's punchout. Mike, Mike, yeah. So he looks like that kind of built. Yeah. So we're watching this and I'm like, and then one of the first fights was it was a Savat fighter, which is French kickboxing. And he fought a Sumo wrestler. And the Sumo wrestler charged him the Savat fighter. Gerard was in name. I don't remember his name. He sidesteps, the sumo wrestler hits the cage
Starting point is 00:56:09 and kind of falls because he's fucking huge, right? He didn't know how to control his weight very well. As he's trying to get up, the Savot fighter just kicked him in the mouth and knocked out like four of his teeth. Just pull and you don't see that for real on TV. He just, as he's trying to get up like the fat News like trying to get up and he just bang and just teeth everywhere. Yeah, and
Starting point is 00:56:30 Goes and throws a punch and then he fucking the so the sumo guy doesn't know what to do gives up and fight was over And that's when you realize like this is this is not like the movies like this is crazy shit. Whoa Then there was another fight where and it didn't look pretty. That was the thing, like it didn't look pretty, by the way, this is before there were gloves, before they, these guys were just beating on each other. And I remember thinking like, what the fuck? And then Ken Shamrock fought a kickboxer, took him down and broke his ankle.
Starting point is 00:56:57 Meanwhile, Hoistgracy is like, he's taking people down methodically choking him out. And then he fought Ken Shamrock, choked him out. And at the end of this, I remember thinking that that hoist gracy was a god, because here's this guy who was skinny, wasn't strong, didn't like do any like devastating, just totally used technique and submitter.
Starting point is 00:57:16 So he became like, to me, hoist gracy's always gonna be the ultimate. Well, that's why you see you have C5. Yeah, you see Jiu Jitsu. Well, now this has to be considered in any MMA. Well, the thing, the funny, this history lessons over what are your top five? I know. Yeah, I'm just saying. Thank you. I don't have us. I had to look at the whiteboard. I'm like, thank you. What the

And the first time you see a guy that's small like choking dudes out that are twice the size, which is so cool. Yeah. So you got Chuck Liddell. You've got. Tor.
Starting point is 00:58:37 Couture for sure. You got St. Pierre. Um, voice. Oh, yeah, I see. Yeah. Yeah. You don't like BJ? I do like. Oh, Nick Diaz. Nick Diaz, one of my top. Oh, really? Yes, because he is. He spits on people and he just, I like that too. No, because he's a pure like,
Starting point is 00:58:53 he's a fighter for you. Yeah, and the pure sense, same thing with BJ Pan. Like, there's some fighters that and just in the pure sense. Yeah, you're like, I know he's a fighter outside of this. Like, yeah, they would do it for nothing. Like, if they were just paying them fucking free beer, they'd be in their fighting, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:59:05 And I really respect that. And so Nick's got to be. And then Anderson Silva, those are my five right there. Those five to me. Yeah, I like Vanderlei Silva, the axe murder. Now do you like Vanderlei from Pride? Pride Vanderlei from the US. Pride Vanderlei, I like Andy.
Starting point is 00:59:21 Okay, so I like Andy. Oh, that's a different, that's a different. I like Anna Balik Vanderlei. I just broke the rules, didn't I't I yeah because if you go outside of UFC I got other fighters right now. He was different when you go cop from the truck from pride God did he would just to destroy people in the over to UFC for a little bit He did none of them are so well none of them are good in the UFC because they went from pride no drug testing to UFC Well in Fador you know better Fedor was great. Starting point is 00:59:46 Here we go. Ultimate Sakuraba. Kazushi Sakuraba from Pride. Okay. The Gracie Hunter. That fucker was, it's just a true in the Japanese spirit of samurai. That guy just takes a beating and keeps coming at you

Starting point is 01:00:15 I do. He's crazy. Yeah. Like so much time. I can't do tons of potential. Dude, he just like every fight is different with him. And I feel like he, he focuses on a new skill and like he just picks it up.
Starting point is 01:00:28 But I felt see, I felt like, and I, if you probably asked him who probably inspired him was, you know, Anderson Silva, Anderson Silva. I mean, God, the guy defended his title. You don't argue both of them are the greatest there. Here's why I don't like Anderson Silva
Starting point is 01:00:42 because he'll show both in his fight and he'll, and he's fucked up because. That's like, like our least stuff. Yes, no did. He got caught show boating. Yes, he did. Show boating was part of a strategy film. Yeah, and it's different, right? When you can get show boating and get hit in the face from boxing, get knocked out right away. But you have, you've got your chin out there
Starting point is 01:01:17 and someone connects, you're going lights out, which is what happened to him. Oh, here's a fighter. Yeah, I don't know if you guys, do you guys remember Carl Prussian? Yes. Loved Carl because he was a judo Yeah, I don't know if you guys, do you guys remember Carro Percian? Yes. Yes. Loved Carro because he was a judo guy and I'd never seen
Starting point is 01:01:27 anybody take and just fucking judo throw people like he did. He would throw everybody five times a day. Oh, you know what? I should have Ron Rousey on there. I love him. Oh, yeah. Rousey. She's one of my favorite fighters to watch fight and it broke my heart
Starting point is 01:01:40 when she lost it. Yeah. Well, yeah, it's just like, like I was mentioning that that whole kind of bringing something new each time, I think is such a skill set now for like your current fighters. Like, it's like, it's so tough because it's like, what are you doing for this camp? It's like, it almost has to change like every single time.
Starting point is 01:02:00 Well, all of us being big fans and it's crazy. I have watched MMA since the beginning. Like, it is evolved so much. And I was explaining this to Katrina and like's crazy. I watched MMA since the beginning. Like it is evolved So and I was explaining this to Katrina and like the whole ronda rousey thing because she was like, oh my god I can't believe she laws the I said here's the thing She was she was the the Michael Jordan of the female MMA world right now now And that's just like when I tell people I'm sorry and I love Michael Michael Jordan is by far one of my favorite all-time athletes But LeBron James would just squash Michael. He's just he's as talented. He's genetically
Starting point is 01:02:31 But he's telling me a bunch of hate man. Well, now listen listen to the theory behind this is just it's the sport as a All the time about my Michael the sport has evolved so much those people were so far ahead of time Rhonda it was so far ahead of her time when she entered the sport. Now you're starting to, and that's remember when we first watched MMA, like you're seeing, Gracie would get killed now. Gracie would get killed by that. You think basketball, you think basketball, you think basketball, you think basketball, you think basketball evolved that much from the 90s?
Starting point is 01:02:59 Yeah. Basketball has been around a long time. See MMA is so new that it has changed dramatically, but. Yes, dude, absolutely. Just like to look how much MMA is involved in five years. Well, I think it is. MMA moves so quick because it doesn't have the same sort of laws. And there's a lot more room for creativity versus football or something like that where everything is standardized
Starting point is 01:03:20 by like, you can't go out of bounds here. You can't tackle them this way. Oh, wait, we're all going to collectively agree that you can't go out of bounds here, you, you can't tackle them this way. Oh wait, we're all going to collectively agree that you can't do it this year, you know, this way. It's like, you know, you have that in MMA, but I feel like there's so many different variations of the sport that it's all this, like, it's this art form kind of like clashing against this other art form. Here's why you cannot compare MMA to basketball.
Starting point is 01:03:40 This is why right here, people who play pro basketball have been playing basketball their whole lives for the most part. Very few people come at a college and say, hey, I'm going to pick up basketball and then go to the pro. That MMA is totally different. This is why I'm going to stop you and why you're totally wrong. Well, let me finish. Let me finish. Why was my okay, wait, what you just said, why was Michael Jordan so great? Because he was the one of the first to be playing basketball. It's shoot just like Tiger Woods three years old hitting it. Heading a go those people evolved the sport Michael Jordan evolved the sport of basketball. Ronda Rousey evolved the sport of MMA for females.
Starting point is 01:04:15 How long has she been doing MMA? She hasn't been doing MMA for a long time, but she's been fighting for competitively. But that's my point. My point is MMA has changed as drastically as it has because we're just now Just now we're gonna start seeing people who have been training MMA their whole lives Yeah, because all it's been before you know chuck, you know Chuck LaDelle was a fucking you know, he was a boxer and a Kimpo guy you're right You know Randy Couture was it was a Greco Roman wrestler Randy Couture fought out of his prime
Starting point is 01:04:43 His prime was when he was in training as an alternate in the Olympics. It would be like this. It would be like taking Randy Kotor and training him as a child instead of going just straight Greco training him MMA and then having him fight in his prime MMA, then you'll see what's happening.
Starting point is 01:04:57 And you're just starting to see that a little bit now. In about 10 years, you're gonna see it for reals. We're gonna see these fighters that are just experts at MMA. And they've been doing the whole lot. Well, it's a lot of different, like, okay. So the way I look at it from what you're saying is if you take like football and you take, you know, there would just be a game versed like where guys would just throw to each other, right?
Starting point is 01:05:18 The long passing game, right? Then there's just the running game, you know, then there's just, you know, kickoff, then there's just the running game. You know, then there's just, you know, kick off, then there's just kicking field goals. You know, all these are separate sports by themselves. Now we're collectively bringing that into one organized sport as one thing. And so, you know, like that, I guess that makes sense on that. It's exactly. Okay.
Starting point is 01:05:40 You could talk about how the Tom Brady's, the Peyton Manning's are evolving the game of football. Now it's expected. If you're an NFL quarterback, you have to know that you have Brady's the Peyton Mannings are evolving the game of football. Yeah. Now it's expected. If you're an NFL quarterback, you have to know, you have to know the defense and the playbook, like the back of your hand. Does that mean that Joe Montana didn't do it very well back then? No, I don't know my boy. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:05:57 Sure those guys did it, but let me tell you right now, the way that Peyton Mannings and the Tom Brady's come to the game now has evolved and changed how cool I'm asking you this and the it's intensive for you right it's gone exponential level and that's the same thing you got any of these sports that are exist because you know a lot of your huge basketball fan Adam let me ask you this has the average scores of games gone up down has that changed it at all? Has like, yeah, the statistics chain. My point is like, do you see more? Yeah, yeah. No, no, no. You do. How many three point shots are made? And that's involving a changing now too. So that's different than it's more
Starting point is 01:06:33 or less. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's so much. I mean, more dongs. I got bigger. I think we're in line. We're figuring to make more dunks. And then it's all inside game. You you strategize around like getting like a collective team put together that has these two monster tower guys, right? But now, you know, somebody like the Warriors come in. What do we do with them? Because they got this outside perimeter game that's like unstoppable. Dude, I wanted to do a whole episode about this, but I know you don't like sports.
Starting point is 01:06:59 Me too. I'm like, yeah, let me tell you like, I mean, this is a stuff. I love that. You know, you want to talk about nerding out on sports. And that's why I could say here in draw parallels to every sport, to every sport. Let me tell you we're basketball. So okay, C just gave the warriors the biggest run ever, right? For their money. Like, and they barely, and now you see it's, I mean, Cleveland one last night or night before, but whatever dude warriors going to smoke, you can just tell by the way we're playing them. But here's the thing. It's the playing field is becoming so even now with you're now you come out of the womb, your play, if you're going to be you were born at your dad and mom were basketball players, your practicing basketball already, your practicing all
Starting point is 01:07:36 the crafts of it, you're an MMA fighter, you come out from MMA fighters, you're getting practice early on, all the arts early on. So we're evolving the sport so much now, the finest little things are gonna make the difference. For example, you take a team like OKC and one of the things that a lot of people don't pay attention to is their wingspan, the length of their arms. How much they cover on the core in comparison to anybody else. Because when you're at the professional level
Starting point is 01:07:58 and MMA is getting here, but once you're at the professional level, you are already incremental. Yes, you're already the top of the gene pool. No, it's true. You're at the top of the gene pool for that sport. You've been practicing since you were born. You're the best of the best. You made the professional now putting together or you're defining these things.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Like, hey, what if I take five pros and it's what it's what's is faced it for the a's. Well, he changed the game of that money ball. Yes. You know, he... Boom, I know some shit. Yeah, you got it in. Billy, so...
Starting point is 01:08:29 So, what you're gonna see now is... Oxyclean. ...is taking a player and saying, okay, that's great. You know, he's, you know, in college, he did all this and that, but I want to measure his wingspan. Oh, look, it's one and a half inches longer than this guy that we're going to have to pay $20,000 more. We're going to go ahead and take the guy who's a little cheaper and got two more inches on his wingspan because when we end up putting five guys together that all have an inch to two more than the average in the NBA, we
Starting point is 01:08:56 now have close gaps. It becomes chemistry. You're putting together the molecules that are going to work best together is one thing. And you know, you do, it's crazy how you look at that, like how all sports have analytics on their side now and how technology is completely changing the landscape. Like they'll, they'll take like all the statistics of like basketball, right? They'll take how many times like it took them
Starting point is 01:09:20 to dribble down the court, you know, the stride. They'll, they'll take like how many jump shots they hit, you know, from the corner. Well, of course, when you have that much money, yeah, when you have that much money involved, you're gonna spend a lot of money on figuring all. Do that's the next steroids. I mean, it's gonna supersede like,
Starting point is 01:09:37 what is that genetic person? That dead talk that we watched what two years ago just shattered my paradigm because, you know, in the past, even all the knowledge I was all steroids. I did. If you were to ask me, what is the difference between LeBron James and Michael Jordan, I'd say, Inavalk steroids. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:09:53 You know, that's what I would say. I would say whatever they, he's got a hold of, you know, I'm saying, because I, who knows what they're doing in a, in a Kim lab right now, and making for our professional athletes. But I would have, I would have attributed to that when after watching that Ted talk I was like holy shit. No, we are just getting that analytical about the about the gear that they're wearing about the courts that they're playing on the ball that they're shooting with the track they're running on the pool. They're swimming in the caps. They're wearing don't think for a second that
Starting point is 01:10:20 they don't change the field or change the mound or change the ball because or the golf ball because they know that audience is like high scoring games. They know this. And they'd rather see home runs than strikeouts. For example, I feel like we see what we're seeing and why it's a fascinating thing for me to watch MMA is 10 years ago when I watched it was just like you said, you watched a boxer, fight a jiu-jitsu guy, you watched it was just like you said you watched a boxer fight a jiu jitsu guy you watched a grappler you know fight a sumo guy you watched these different arts go well now if you're anybody at the top of the game you got to be well rounded you got to have a piece of all of that if you're a pro if you're a pro you got
Starting point is 01:11:00 to be pretty damn good a damn near all of them if you're going to hang or be the best of the best and it will that'll be a requirement. No, you'll never see anymore. And right now, Rhonda Rousey just got beat by an elite level boxer because she didn't have elite level boxing under her belt. Well, she just bought them. She was forced to fight the other girls. Exactly. And that and that you'll in five years in with women's MMA, you won't see that anymore. No. And I think, no, and I will say this, Rhonda will beat her if she gets a hold of her and puts her on the ground, she'll crush her.
Starting point is 01:11:29 And I think that'll happen if they fight again. I hope so.
