This is the thing that the only knock that I've always had with home gyms.

But the knock has always been, when you buy gym equipment, home gym equipment, you pay a lot of money up front. It could
cost you thousands of dollars. Whereas you could go to a gym and pay 20 bucks a month. Yeah.

here's the big benefit of having a home gym for me because that's what I, that's what I do.
The time that you spend getting dressed,
you know, getting your workout clothes for the gym,
driving to the gym, parking, checking in,
and then getting your workout.

It's a waste of time.
Yeah, that's not factoring in wasted time.
Yeah, right, so like, and then if you have kids
and getting them already and then having
a kids club available at certain hours,
that's all like a huge factor.
Well, I'm the only one. I'm the only one that of us who doesn't work out at home. And I already know
for sure the main reason for me is because I don't. You guys, the fact that you guys have kids,
I think makes the world of difference because I'm Mr. Go to a gym. But if I had kids, it'd be a
no-brainer because I can already see the headache. I have a couple, but if I had kids, it would be a no-brainer.

membership still and they have kids,
and I see what they have to do.
The wife comes in first, and then she trains,
and then she goes back home to watch a kid,
then he comes and comes in.
So it's like a three hour process between...

I mean, and kudos to them, they're both in an incredible shape
and they manage to do it.
I think that's really cool, but I know me, I'm like, fuck,
I would...
No, it's just, it's not sustainable that way.
I mean, that's too much of a time suck.
Well, here's my routine in the morning.
I fucking love it, right?
So we wake up at five, usually 5 a.m. or 5.30 depending on
what, you know, what the workout's gonna be. I'll go downstairs, I'll make coffee, we'll drink our coffee,
and just kind of allow ourselves to wake up a little bit. 30 minutes later, we go in the garage,
we work out, we work out hard. I mean, whatever the fuck I want to wear, half the time it's just
shorts and no shirt, or I don't need to take a shower,
I don't need to brush my teeth even.
I just go out there, do my workout,
listen to whatever music we want,
and then I can use chalk,
I could use whatever lifting aids,
I want chains or whatever.
And then we do our lift,
then we come straight inside,
we come straight inside,
we make our breakfast, wake up the kids,
and I take him to school.
If I didn't have a home gym, the process would be insane.
How bummed are you though that you bought all your equipment

and they've got a little bit of a fall
and they had a few thousand people
and they're trying to build a network
and they take the first
Supplement company that comes along and offers them some 10 or 20 or 30% commission on their sales and then their whole
Instagram feed turns into this promoting the supplement line
It's just like do you really want to be attached to this fucking no-name supplement brand that like it's probably not to be here in five or 10 years or worse, you promote something that then comes out to be bogus or bad.
Right.
Now you look like a liar.
And in this space, there's a 50-50 chance it's going to be.
Yeah.
People, I'm not going to name names, but there was a situation not that long ago where we
had some strong conversations with one of our sponsors.
And then of course they came back and showed us evidence
of whatever.
And I don't want to go into any detail, but we almost
gave money back.
So when it comes to promoting products,
the bottom line is, well, a few things,
we're making probably half what we could make,
because we turn so much shit down.
And the shit that we promote is what we use.
And I don't think anybody can argue with us
that we don't, we aren't proponents of cannabis.
You know what I'm saying?
That's not like that.
That relationship right there,
that relationship has been a year in the process,
a year.
That company, Taylor has been hounding ease

ever since the very first time that you used it, and we talked about how brilliant the company was and the fact that we love

I'll tell you why I'm excited about it. You know, first off, I think people should be able to do
whatever they want to their bodies. I think recreationally speaking in comparison to the other commonly consumed recreational
substances, it's one of the better ones.
If you were going to compare it to alcohol, for example, I'm not against alcohol, but I definitely
think cannabis is probably a better option more often than not, especially if you're going
to use regular amounts of alcohol.
Now from a medicinal standpoint,
I'm, this is why I'm a proponent of cannabis.
It's the medicinal aspect, the recreational aspect,
that's cool, do whatever you want,
long as you don't hurt anybody that's up to you.
But the medicinal aspect, I've talked about this in the past,
but I dived in deep in the science of cannabis
and cannabinoids for a few different reasons.
One was because of my own gut issues
and it played an integral role
in modulating my immune system.
So I didn't have such a crazy reaction
because I know I've communicated this,
but maybe I wasn't super clear.
When my gut was off the first time,
it was like I had Crohn's disease.
And what did that look like?
It looks like you have like dysentery all the time.
I couldn't eat anything.
I lost 15 pounds in the matter of like a month and a half.
I mean, that's a terrifying place to be,
especially for anybody,
but especially if you're somebody who, you know,
works out and prides themselves in their body.
So I dug in deep and I found that cannabinoids
really did clamp down on inflammation in the gut and also help
modulate my immune system so strong with food.
Then I had a close family member, somebody I caret about very deeply gets stricken with
terminal cancer, a very rare form of cancer, or there was no five-year survival rate.
There was nothing. And so I dug and did anybody who's listening right now
who's ever had somebody die from cancer
or who's dealing with someone who has cancer,
maybe even through recovery.
If you go online and you look up alternative
or natural cancer treatments,
you're gonna get bombarded with all kinds of just insanity,
crazy shit, and it's impossible to sift through at all.
I mean, part of me was like, we'll just throw everything
at this, but the kitchen sink.
But the other part of me is like, well, that's not going to work.
I have to, I have to somehow find something that is not,
that's, that's legal, that's going, maybe having a fact
that's going to maybe have an effect on this cancer
and also help with the symptoms, because the symptoms
of cancer can get pretty nasty,
especially towards the end.
And so I had to come up with a litmus test
and that litmus test was I need to see some evidence,
some scientific evidence.
And I went through all kinds of different
alternative treatments, everything from acupuncture
to diet changes to whatever.
And the one non-dietary thing I found,
because fast things got a lot of sign supporting it,
was cannabinoids.
And there's some, you can look up cannabinoids in cancer.
In fact, the American Cancer Society,
or I'm not quite sure what their name is,
but anyway, they have an official website.
If you go on their look up cannabinoids,
they'll talk about how cannabinoids kill cancer cells
and protect the healthy cells.
And so this is the other reason why I dive so deep.
And this individual who was supposed to die in a three-month period lived for over a year
and a half, and out of that year and a half, the last two months were terrible.
So almost a year and a half where the symptoms were, where she could function, she could
do things, she could watch my kids, we could, you know, we took her to, you know, on trips and stuff like that.
And so, and that's my anecdote, by the way,
I'm not making any claims here, but I love the fact
that the laws are loosening up and that, you know,
we're looking deeper into this because
the cannabinoid system of the body is fascinating
and cannabis represents a whole new,
whole new class of potential treatments.
It's empowering for people to have options like that.
Absolutely.
You know, so that's why we support it for the most part.
That's a great nerdy reason to do it.

That's the way I do.

to unwind and relax, I don't see there
a problem with it whatsoever.
And so I think that's what's cool about that we're in a place
now that people have that option,

that came out.
I want to see when it was, when it was posted.
It's pretty recent.
So you know how we're always having this kind of ever long
debate over artificial sweeteners.
And I saw you post that in your story.
Yeah, some people in our space love to talk about how artificial sweeteners are super safe
and the most studied and blah, blah, blah, and they're great.
Probably because they sell supplements.
They're so confident in that, huh?
Yeah, probably because they sell supplements.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
So that are sweetened with sucralose.
I mean, that's a big market.
I bet it's on that.
That's a big market.
But anyway, one of the arguments that was always,
you know, studies show that when you consume sucralose,
that your body gets rid of it,
like nothing is stored in the body.
So it's all good and it's all safe.
And I'm always super skeptical of that.
I mean, it's pretty rare that something goes through your body
that doesn't have some kind of an effect on your body.
In fact, I would think that,
I don't think that ever happens.
It's got some kind of an effect when it goes through your body.
Whether you absorb it or not, maybe it affects the microbiome,
maybe it affects your intestinal wall,
whatever, it's gonna have some kind of an effect.
But the argument's always been,
no, there's nothing that happens.
Well, they just did a mouse study,
and by the way, I know sometimes people say,
oh, because it doesn't, just because it's mice
doesn't mean it happens to humans.
In this case, we can pretty much say
it's gonna happen in humans.
This is not something that's unique
to mouse metabolism or whatever.
So the sucralose, they gave it to the mice,
and they found that it produced two
fat soluble compounds. So in other words, it is getting stored in the body, in the fat
of the mice. They found the, yeah, and it's because the way they analyzed this and find
this is much more sophisticated now. They didn't have the means or the way to really figure this out before because new testing methods have been
invented, they've gone in and found that sure enough there is, it is getting broken down
in and though it is creating metabolites that are being stored in the fat of the mice.
Now this.
So what does that mean though?
What is it, what exactly is it doing to the metabolism
by it being stored in the...
Who the fuck knows, but here's a deal.
It's still up in the air.
Well, but here's a deal.
Consume sucralose every day, every other day for years.
It's fat soluble.
Things that tend to get stored in fat tend to accumulate.
So like, here's an example.
If you took a bunch of water soluble vitamins and I gave to get stored in fat tend to accumulate. So like, here's an example.
If you took a bunch of water soluble vitamins and I gave you a thousand percent of vitamin
C, you could take that every day and, you know, little side effects or whatever, because
your body just gets rid of what it doesn't need.
There could be some other side effects with other things, but you just get rid of what
it.
You can't do that with fat soluble vitamins because they accumulate in your body and then
you can get toxic levels.
Same thing with certain minerals and stuff like that.
When people get toxic metal accumulation or whatever.
So let's say you consume sucrose on a daily basis and these metabolites are getting stored
in your fat.
Which is a lot of people do.
Right.
This can accumulate over time and we don't know what it causes but the bottom line is it's
getting stored in body, it's getting stored in bottom line is it's getting stored in body,
it's getting stored in your fat, it's getting stored in your body. And if you're like most fitness
people that consume sugar-free products, you're probably having at least one thing a day, if not more,
that is artificially sweetened with circulos. And remember fat isn't just some, you know,
inner tissue that's on your body, it's a hormone sensitive, chemical producing tissue that's on your body.
It's a living tissue.
And when things start to get stored in there, and what happens when you burn the body fat?
Let's say you store a ton of sucralose in your body and then you get leaner.
How does that get released?
I mean, there's a lot of questions that go to be raised.
But I think this...
What is now to this study show at how much
that they had to consume in order for that time?
They gave them a regular amount.
Just because I know that was another argument
that people would use to defend that as a go.
The amount that you would have to take
is this crazy amount.

Real easy, you could have a couple of artificial,

or something like that in there.
You could easily go and have a pre workout.
You could easily go and have, you know,
a no explode type of drink also.
And then you could also have a protein shake
and then probably a protein bar.
And I mean, you could have a lot of people
in the health and fitness space could be doing I
In fact, I think the average American who doesn't exercise and give a shit about their diet probably takes in less
Sugar-free. Yeah, this this is for our audience. I feel like I feel like the people that are listening to this show
Or more likely to ingest more of the artificial sweeteners than the average consumer
Yeah, cuz they lean on that like it's health food right. Yeah, they look at like sugar-free being like a
whole pass. As I did too, I mean, I used a ton.
I mean, when I was counting calories and I'm concerned about
that, it's a, you know, it was something that I-
You're worried about your physique.
You don't want to pack on as fat, you know, and like
consume a bunch of sugar.
So you think that's a valid option, but it still adds up.
Yeah, and people, you know, people, I'll do these posts
and then I'll get messages and be like,
oh man, like, I love my sugar-free drinks when I'm pre-contest
or I need it to keep my calories down.
What do I do now?
And I'm like, don't drink it.
I mean, unless you don't mind the potential risks
or whatever that we're realizing,
otherwise like, it's okay if you don't taste something sweet,
you know what I mean, all the time.
That's fine.
There's nothing wrong with that.
Well for comp, 14 days out is what I could all athletes
including myself, so zero consumption at that point.
Oh, is that what you do?
So if I had somebody who's like, I have this,
I have that and they're like mandatory about it,
I'm like, okay, well if it's something
that I can't get out of your diet,
well then when we get within 14 days, it's gotta go.
The way I look at it is this,
if it's something
that you do super occasionally, then you could throw
a little caution to the wind, there's other stuff,
there's lots of, you know, it's not toxic,
so it's not a poison.
There's studies that show people have consumed it
for a long time in their ill effects, like, that's okay.
But if you're gonna do something every single day,
or regularly, for years and years and years,
then you have to be super, super,
you have to be very, very careful.
And when you see like, okay,
studies show it may damage beneficial bacteria.
Now I know it's getting, you know,
there's metabolites being stored in my fat.
We have other studies that show that it can cause
insulin insensitivity issues with your gut microbiome as well.
Then, okay, that might not mean nothing if I do it super rarely, but if I'm doing this every week for the last five or ten years, that's a long time.
That's a long, long, long time to add up potential issues.
And the other thing that with the human body is, we don't study people that long.
We just don't.
We have population studies, but it's so hard to tease out what's going on that.
Somebody could get cancer or heart disease, and it's hard to tease out what the hell's
going on.
We know that cancer, for example.
Some scientists will say it probably close to 70% of cancers are preventable, but there's
so many different things that can lead to that.
And then there's this like,
it's like the, what's that butterfly effect?
Like there's this chain of events, okay,
maybe the sucalose affects this one small part of your body,
and that by itself is not an issue.
But then maybe over the course of 10 years,
that small part affects this part,
which affects this part, which affects that part.
And then over 10 years now
We have an issue slightly altered your metabolism in some way and then things get affected Yeah, and then good luck going back and trying to figure that out
So again, this is your food and this is what you're putting your mouth and it's also an optional food
It's not an essential food. So that's why I like to tell people
You know usually stay away from the stuff and it's not a by the way
It's not the debate isn way, the debate is sugar better

There was another study I want to share
with you guys pretty interesting.

Well, so immune therapy, they've been doing for a while now
with cancers, where there's a couple
different ways that they've done this, where they'll remove, literally remove parts
of immune system, and they'll genetically modify it, put it back in your body, your body
recognizes the cancer and kills it, or they'll give you these drugs that cause your immune
system to come kind of hyper-vigilant towards cancer cells and it affects the entire body.
And some studies show that they work for certain types
of cancer, the problem is the side effects
can be kind of nasty with them.
So it's been kind of like, okay,
is it just attacking all kinds of different types?
Oh, the immune system's super complex, right?
So what they did with these mice is they came up
with this combination of these two
immunostimulating agents, and they
injected them in small amounts directly into solid tumors.
Now, these rats had, I can't remember what kind of cancer they had, but they supposedly
this works for all the types of cancers that they've tested.
You guys want to guess how many of the mice got apps totally cured
So I did it with 90 mice who had tumors how many 87
Totally cured no way not only did it completely
Get rid of the tumor that was injected, but then it got rid of cancers
throughout the entire body
So now they're going to start testing this and it was body wide
body. So now they're going to start testing this. It was body-wide effects and it's inexpensive, which is really crazy. So now they're going to be testing this on humans.
Wow. That's a big. How did I not see that? I mean, deal.
This is a preventative measure, right? Like it's a vaccine. So would they be applying vaccines
that people actually already have cancer? I think they're, I don't think it's used that way.
They call it a vaccine.

and then they'll give it to you.
And then, and what's happening is your T cells
identify the cancer cells.
So really what it's doing is it's getting your own body

Like this could be something that, because the problem with cancer is that it evolves and

They can't survive off of ketones. So if you go in a ketogenic diet, they tend to die
But not all cancers and then sometimes cancers figure ways out to feed themselves by
Stealing amino acids and creating their own glycogenin. Right. You take on characteristics. There's other cells
Bro, there's treatments that'll cut off the blood supply
to cancer tumors.
The tumors will create its own.
They'll start to create their own blood supply.
And cancers all behave differently
based on different types of treatments.
So it's like the dream of a treatment for cancer
has always been, that was always the dream,
but it's always been impossible.
Do you think in our time that we'll solve it?

cannabinoid research is going, I think we are close to finding a viable, effective cancer treatment.

because I witnessed, you know, watching someone go through,
it is a terrible.

Cancer, it's like, okay, you've got this long,
and it's gonna suck really bad towards the end.
That's a very scary place to be.
So this for me is, it really hits home.
It gets me really excited to see the truth. So this for me is, you know, really hits home. Yeah. It gets me really excited to see
how they don't go super expensive with these vaccines either, you know, and pull some fucking

Just do five, good form, go through it.
So it's kind of like, it's not super hard,
but it's enough for you to have to kind of focus
a little bit.
And then the goal was to keep the weight the same.
So don't change the weight at all.
What I didn't wanna do is overshoot
and then have to go down on weight, you know,
at towards the end.
But what I am gonna probably do is,
I think I'll pick three exercises again,
but I'm not gonna focus on the weight or the the reps
I'm just gonna focus on the feel and the squee that's what I mean my bodybuilder style

Well, you're getting a lot of people that are agreeing with what I'm saying.
And you know, it's one of those things.
I was thinking about this morning because I had another DM this morning.
Sal, what's the best diet for this?
How often do you guys get that DM?
Oh God.
Yeah.
Every all the time, right?
All right, get this.
Is that the most common one?
I'm 5'11, I'm 14% body fat, I'm 27 years old,
I need to lose 15 pounds, I'm doing this.
What should my macros be?
I work out six times a week, you know,
I'm doing cardio, I'm also doing yoga, I wanna do this,
like how do I incorporate this too?
Yeah, it's like nobody wants to rest.
You know why, you know why?
So this morning I got another one of those
and I started to get irritated
because it's like, what do you mean, what's the best diet?
Like how can I possibly answer that?
And then I thought about it
and I kind of felt a little empathetic
because I'm like, okay, I'm gonna put myself in the shoes
of just a regular person who's trying to figure out
what's best for them.
You go online, you're gonna find 10 studies
that support a vegan diet and anecdote.
You're gonna find 10 other studies
that support a paleo diet with anecdotes.
You're gonna find 10 that support keto, Mediterranean.
You're gonna find a shit ton of anecdotes now
that support carnivore.
That's why we get that question all the time.
Yeah.
It's because there's so much evidence supporting so many different things.
And so what I wrote in this post was why that is.
Is it because everybody else is lying?
Or, which I don't, I don't think that's the case.
I think the people who feel like their vegan diet is the best for them are probably right.
It's because the human metabolism is so damn complex.
I think we think we understand it, like we figured it out.
Like, oh, we know how the metabolism works.
Not really.
We know some of it, but it's the second most complex thing
in the universe, right, behind the brain.
And, you know, like I wrote in the post,
we just recently figured out the microbiomes has a huge,
and we don't even know much about it,
but we know it has a huge impact on your,
how you metabolize food.
We also just learned relatively recently
that your emotions have a big impact
on your body metabolizing food.
You're sleep, you're exposure to light and sunlight.
All these different things have these effects,
and we're just now starting to learn about them.
There's way more that we don't know than we know,
and that's why the answer is always going to be depends.
It depends.
And what works?
Well, you can't market that.
And so the marketing is to blame for all this because they're trying to pull you over
to spend money in that direction.
And that's literally the bottom line of all these different people that want you so badly
to subscribe to that wave nutrition. literally the bottom line of all these different people that want you so badly to
subscribe to like that wave nutrition or it's like yes it did work for you and so they're very passionate about you know the results they got and but it as far as a marketing perspective
goes and selling you things and items and you know under that umbrella it's like you know they
have to kind of make their case the strongest,
you know, to pull your money in that direction.
The biggest thing that concerns me is that, and what I used to get as a trainer a lot,
is somebody tries a diet, any diet, doesn't fucking matter which one.
They try one out and they have success with it, and then they become married to that because
of that, when they don't fully understand all the things
that probably made them feel the way they felt.
And so that's what I worry about.
And you know, realize they change.
That's what I worry about when someone thinks
they have found the perfect diet for them
is because they've had the most success currently with that.
Therefore, they just assume that it's the diet
that's done that where it's probably some other variable that they're unaware of, because they're never really diligently tracked
and paid attention to all these other variables that they're moving in and out by changing these
diets.
So, I implore people to go and try all of them.
Go run a keto for a month or two.
Run a paleo diet.
Run a vegan diet.
For a while, run these things
and track and pay attention and pay attention to how you feel and your performance and your
sleep and your sex and your skin and your hair and all these other things that can be affected
by the way you eat.
And then trying to, I think, take a collection of all of them.
I just, I don't follow anything on a regular basis.
I mean, I track right now, right? And I'm paying attention to what I'm meaning.
And when I went into it, I wasn't like,
and this is what people, I get this a lot in my DMs,
like, hey, you guys are getting ready for your show.
What's your macro profile you're following?
I'm like, well, I'm not really like following
a macro profile I'm eating, you know?
And then I'm tracking, and I can tell you
where it's landing right now.
And it's landing it like a you know 50%
I'm like fat and carbs are
Fat and protein are pretty even and carbohydrates are low. So I've got you know a moderately high fat moderately
high protein low carbohydrate type of diet
So I'm landing somewhere between
100 to 200 grams of carbohydrates, my proteins
more like 200 grams of carbohydrates and then, or 200 grams. And then my fats are landing
anywhere from 100 to 175.
Well, that's the key because it's not, and here's the thing, you can try all these different
diets and figure out what works best for you, but that's not all of it.
It's an ever-evolving process because your body is not the same.
It changes.
And neither is the context of your life and the things around you.
So what you end up finding really what it is, if you want to figure out the best diet,
you know you're going to go're gonna embark on a journey of learning
how to read your body and how it tends to react to certain foods and also be open to
continue to learn because things change.
Right.
They just do.
And that's the best diet.
That's what I wrote in it.
The best diet is figuring those things out for you.
Now, there's definitely general rules.
Like, I tell people, well, first off, if you want to lose weight, you got to take in less
calories and burn.
You want to gain weight, you got to take in more calories than you burn. But the other general rule that I tell everybody is, for, first off, if you want to lose weight, you've got to take in less calories and burn. You want to gain weight, you've got to take in more calories and burn.
But the other general rule that I tell everybody is,
for the most part, avoid heavily processed foods.
They will make you eat more, bottom line.
They throw everything off because they're engineered to do so.
I mean, you know, try to eat 5,000 calories
of plain baked potato and try to eat 5,000 calories
of French fries or potato chips and see which ones easier to do. Yeah.
It's way easier to eat the potato chips in the French fries than it is the plain.
Well, on that note, pay attention to how each food, how you feel after eating each food,
whether it's a vegetable, whether it's potato, whether it's a piece of meat, a specific
kind of meat.
That's why a elimination diet for me is always been something that I think
is beneficial for anybody to go through. It's just really just paying attention to the effects
specific types of foods have, because you'll be surprised, you know, going through that process,
like what stands out and what doesn't, and how it affects your body and how you react to it.
Well, that's how I felt when we all went through
the ketogenic diet.
Like, I mean, that was a game changer for me as far as what I,
I mean, I've been doing this for fucking over 15 years,
feel like I'm pretty well versed in nutrition to understand that.
And I remember, you know, telling you guys on this show,
when we first started fucking four, 600 grams of carbs a day,
it was normal.
I loved it. I felt great. I didn't have any
Problems. I didn't think there was any really just like I'm a car. I could compete at the professional level
I looked awesome. I was all about aesthetics. So why? Why would I even consider that? And that was the exact reason why I did it was because I caught myself saying that and
I thought, okay, well, why not? Why not put myself through this and then see how I feel or see what I notice and man what blew me away?
One I knew that I would never want to follow a ketogenic diet long-term
It just was not conducive for my lifestyle. I still like to have carbohydrates in there
I did notice a slight decline in performance. I had better performance when I car much
But what I was blown away by was how satiated I felt. I mean, on the high fat diet,
like I didn't have these cravings all the time,
been a carbeter and allowing that many carbs
in and out of my diet all the time,
like I was always battling cravings.
It took a lot of discipline for me to stay regimen
to my diet because my appetite was always up.
It totally suppressed that.
Then I also noticed my skin, my psoriasis.
Like I noticed all those
things when I was eating a higher fat. And so what it was for me was, okay, what I, my body needed was
more fats in the diet and I didn't need as many carbohydrates. And so I've found this kind of more
happy medium for my life. It's not a protocol. I'm not following paleo, not falling keto, not
following anything. It's that, you know, I feed my body fats when I feel like I haven't been getting enough
good fats and I give myself a little bit more carbohydrates when I feel like I haven't
had enough carbohydrates, but I don't need nowhere near as many carbs I was in the past because
I'm allowing myself a lot more fat in the diet that I was suppressing for a very long
time that I notice a big difference. I feel fucking great and it's easy. So I think that that's the real takeaway
from trying these diets is finding the foods
that agree with you and the foods that work best
for you less of the diet protocol that you're following.
It's like if you run vegan and it did miracles for you,
well maybe it's not the fact that you're vegan,
maybe it's the fact that you just needed
a lot more vegetables in your life.
Maybe that was what was wrong.
Maybe that's what you needed to do,
and so maybe you don't necessarily need to stay away from meat completely.
Maybe you just need to introduce a lot more vegetables,
and maybe you run a very high vegetable type of diet,
but then you still have chicken and steak
and fish occasionally in your diet,
and you don't have to follow a protocol, right?

Yeah, she's going to get, so she had them done a while ago and she's going to get them,
I guess, redone because...
Oh yeah, every 10 years, right?
Well, no.
I mean, what happens to a lot of women is...
So you get an implant, your body, always will typically will form a, like a scar tissue around
it.
Now, the severity of that can vary dramatically.
And if it gets really bad, you get what's called...
I think it's called capsular contracture,
where it becomes large and it contracts around the implant and it causes misshapen breasts
and hardness.
And so, this is just one of the more common potential negative side effects of getting
breast implants and then you got to go get them redone and all that stuff.
But when you do the research and you read about, and we're going to, you know, she's going to
someone's really good in all that, but when you do the research behind it, you get a lot of anecdotes
of people saying that their implants made them sick and they had to get rid of them and they had
to take them out and maybe the silicone is getting in their body and this, that, and the other.
The best, I guess, theory I would have to this is,
and this is, again, it's a controversial subject
because the research shows that they're pretty safe,
but here's my fear.
My fear is when your body mounts that kind of an immune response
to the implant, to where it creates scar tissue,
I don't think that's just a localized immune response.
I feel like that's also a kind of systemic.
It can have a little bit of a systemic effect.
Like, have you ever had a part of your body?
Well, I mean, that's had to heal from something.
I mean, it can affect everything, right?
Everything works synergistically.
The entire body, it's one organism.
That's what we talk about this all the time.
It's like, how could it not?
It's funny, we have this question when you brought up the other controversial topic, which is the artificial sweeteners
Yeah, because it's kind of like I feel like the same way about it's like I'm not pro or I'm actually pro them
I think they look awesome
But I'm not like again somebody doing it or not doing it. It's more just
Understanding that you're putting a foreign thing in your body. And there's gotta be potential something
that could happen.
Well, here's the ones that,
if it's minimal and it's no big deal
and you can live with it for rest of your life,
then no big deal, who cares?
But I would just think putting something artificially
into your body, there's always gonna be
some sort of a risk.
It wasn't meant to be there, right?
Yeah, the ones that I am pretty confident on
are, and this is just from my understanding
as an exercise, you know,
expert, if you will, you know, the most popular way to do breast augmentation is to take
an implant and place it under the muscle. And what you're essentially doing is you're
lifting the pack off of where it normally is and you're changing the angle of pull a
little bit, right? So if I'm, it's imagine if you're changing the angle of pull a little bit, right?
So if I'm, it's imagine if you take your peck and you pull it up and put something underneath it,
now that peck angle is going to change a little bit and that should change recruitment patterns
all the way up the shoulder and up the neck.
And if you look at, I don't know about you guys, but I've worked with quite a few women who've had
breast augmentation who've had shoulder problems
as a result of that change.
And frozen shoulder becomes an issue sometimes
and a lot of these women have to do specific exercise.
I know I've had women hire me specifically for that
where they'll go get this and they'll say,
okay, I want you to train me to make sure
that I don't get shoulder problems, stuff like that.
So it can definitely change how you end up moving your body.
But it's an interesting one.
It's an interesting thing to talk about actually because what comes to mind for me right now
is not so much the breast implants as much as what we're technology is heading right now.
And this is my fear of all these, I mean, we just saw this and talk about article, Sal. I don't know. Did you see the article on the company
that has you, you can put in, they put you in your thumb, your thumb like a chip.
And then you can scan and buy things just from like your, like your
figure. Chip implant. Yeah, chip implant inside.
I'm not the sign of the beast. I know. Exactly. Well, people are opting into it already.
Well, willingly. That's what I'm saying.
So, like, you know, we're right around the corner
from this app being normal.

Like, they were, they were rantin' and raven all about it.
And it was all of these positive reviews from it.

And so, you know, even if it comes out
that there's nothing wrong with it, it's okay.
There's just something that worries me
about putting something inside of my body permanently
that was not meant to be in there.
There's that foreign object was not meant to be.
It can't be ideal.

we also watched that documentary,

like the different types of like materials
they've been using for like hip replacement
and you know, how people have rejected certain
types of metals and that actually caused like toxic reactions and you know it's a delicate
ecosystem.
It's like your body really like it only does well with certain materials and sometimes
we're like troubleshooting that you know we don't really know right away if it's gonna accept it or reject it
So it's interesting. Yeah, and I mean, you know, here's the thing with them too
It's like I mean I get it especially I get it for
Everybody has it's your body right do whatever you want to it. It's always been my belief
But I also really empathize with you know, I've had female clients who you know
What what hire me and then they'll get pregnant and so I'll train
them through the pregnancy and then they'll have the baby and then they're done with breastfeeding.
And they'll tell me, I'm going to get implants and I'll have this conversation and they'll
say, it's like there's nothing in them anymore.
So I would, I'm empathetic towards stuff like that.
And of course, the extreme cases where you have women who've had mastectomies and stuff
like that.
And so it's a miracle to be able to have these procedures for those types of situations.
And in our world, in the fitness world, especially in the competitive world, if you're a female
bikini or fitness or figure competitor, you're getting fucking lean when you're on stage.
Bikini is the least lean of all the female competitors
and bikini competitors get shredded.
What body fat do you think,
what do they walk on stage, like 10% or leaner?
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
And your boobs are made out of fat tissue.
Yeah, so now you're on stage,
you've probably have no boobs because you're shredded.
Obviously, you're lost all your fat.
And then to make it worse, they don't say this happens, but I'm pretty
fucking sure that you don't get the same, the likelihood of getting a good score goes down
because you're flat.
Is that, is that, is that, yeah, it's definitely, there's, I mean, there's a lot of people
believe that, you know, there's no proof of that.
You can't prove that, but a lot of people believe that it's, you know, I mean, they're, again, it
was just like, it's like, it's the, you know, answering that to me is kind of like answering,
like, do the, do the judges take any consideration someone who's better looking?
Yeah.
Their face is better looking, right?
Because at the end of the day, yeah, it's supposed to be a body, bodybuilding competition,
but it's money is pushed through here through supplement companies.
Who's most marketable.
Yeah.
So these people are also also they have an agenda
I mean, they're looking for they're look they want to highlight people that potentially are gonna make
Cover so you know if you if you keep not placing well, but you have an incredible physique it could because you're fucking ugly or you know
Yeah, I mean it's it's it's the truth, but nobody nobody comes out and says it right, but I mean that, it's the truth, but nobody comes out and says it.
But I mean, it's the reality.
Come on, it's like, when the magazine companies,
the supplement companies are the ones paying for the show.
So, to put on a big show, it cost,
I don't even know what it cost,
but it's north of $50,000, right,
to host a big event like that.
Well, the people that pay for those events
are supplement companies and magazines and people that have interest.
Yeah, it's the reason why those contests exist.
Yes, it is exactly why they exist.
To find the next sponsored athlete.
Right. And so they pluck the athletes off there. And so, you know, a girl who's got proportions
and has boobs is made do better, just like a guy that's better looking than a guy that's fucking ugly
You know, it's just I think it's and I think it's unfortunate
I think it's what I think is more unfortunate are the girls that feel the need to do it to win like because you get a
Fucking plastic trophy and I see this on the men's side just as much like when they're the waste trainers
It's like you're doing things that sure maybe that gives this illusion and maybe the judges are telling you know, but that's so silly to me at what a cost
Well break it down what cost because once you get this trophy that everybody's chasing after and and whatever
I don't know if it's the Instagram fucking thing that drives this
But you don't get anything you don't I didn't make any money because I was a pro like none of what we do right now
Is anything to do with me being a pro other than gives me some sort of street cred.
Well, break it down to, break it down a little bit like why, why is it so much more common
with these competitors and part of it is, you know, body image issues and stuff like that
which are, which are common in, in our industry.
The other part of it is again, like they get so shredded, but think about that for a second.
Why is a super shredded female that's natural?
Why does that look unattractive?
Because women are supposed to have a certain amount of fat.
Because they can't function normally.
Now men when they get super shredded,
if you see them in person,
they also don't look too healthy.
But guys get away with it much more
because we evolved to have less body fat.
You know what I'm saying?
A guy can walk around at 7% body fat, which is lean.
He's not sick shredded, but he's lean.
And he's gonna look pretty good.
Women who walk around it, 12, 13% body fat, that's,
that typically looks unhealthy because,
and many of them lose their periods,
because you're supposed to have some fat,
so you put implants in to create the illusion of having more body fat on your body when
you really don't.

It just kind of highlights the craziness of, and I hate saying this, I know I piss people
off and people really enjoy the sport and there's certain things you can learn from it for
sure.
But let's be honest, it's a fucking, not it's fucking, not a, it's a very counter health cause sport.
There's nothing healthy about it.
You just have to recognize what it really is.
It's like a, it's a beauty pageant.
And you know, we're letting, we're letting five year olds
get in it now.
If you're somebody who supports that
and thinks that's the smart thing to do,
like to then to each their own, but it's a similar concept.
You have people who do not,
that have a elementary level of nutrition and programming and understand in human physiology that are getting into the sport that have no idea
What they're potentially doing themselves. It's crazy
It reminds me that it reminds me of putting these little girls in at five years old and these crazy you see those things before
I mean, it's like and I'm not saying that that they can't potentially maybe that kid doesn't get fucked up. Maybe, maybe.
Like, what are the chances of-
Let's see here. We're teaching my kid that what's most valuable is how they look at five when they're super cute.
How are they gonna feel when they go through puberty at 13?

Yeah, I mean, that's what I would have, what a crazy-
So I feel the same way. I look at the sport of body. Now, at the adult level, beauty pageants,
Miss America, one of the most famous.
Okay, okay.
We're starting to get rid of the swimsuit.
Right, right, okay, whatever.
I can see a little more understanding of that,
even though I'm sure that causes some major issues
with girls, I'm sure if you fall around
all the Miss America pageant girls
that they've probably had to deal with some shit
in their life because of that.
But I mean, at that low of a level of understanding
about nutrition and your body,
and then to get into these sports,
and then to manipulate your body,
to make it look a certain way,
or wear a fucking waste trainer to make it shrink your,
to do these things, it's like, what the fuck?
I had a, I had a,
I would have never done any of that.
I got it, I got a DM.
It becomes their whole value.
Yep, yep, I had a DM from a young lady.
She was 20, like, 20, early 20s about a month ago.
And, you know, I like to try and answer
to people's questions and help them,
especially if I think that they need help.
And she's like, hey, you know, I listened to your interview.
I don't remember which podcast I was on.
And really resonated with me.
I think I've really done a lot of harm to my body.
She was a young lady.
And so what did she do?
Well, she competed, she hired a coach.
The coach had her eat super, super low calories,
do an hour plus a cardio a day, plus resistance training.
And this girl took Anivar and Climbuterol leading up to the show.
So he had her or whatever,
I don't know who the coach was,
a male or female, I'm assuming it's a male,
but he or she had her taking testosterone derivatives
plus an illegal fat burning type drug,
which has got some negative effects on the heart.
She's 20, like two years old.
She has, this was her first time ever competing.
Her history of exercise before
this was like months. And it's like, are you, like, these people need to be, I don't know,
you know, I should have asked the guys name and called them out, you know, just because
it's terrible. There's a lot of it. There's a, there's a, there's a, there's a lot of
that going on. So, you know, like, I think, if you're going to do, you're going to do it,
like, I mean, Katrina wants them. So, and I don't think she, I definitely don't think
she needs them, but she wants them,
and I'm not like telling her,
no, she can't have them, you know?
Like, it's, that's to each throw.
And the technology's a lot better now,
so, because I did my research with Jessica,
and now they make implants.
Well, first off, they have these anatomically
correct type shapes now, which look a lot better,
so you don't look like you have, you know,
cannons or whatever.
And then they also have a textured surface
because that prevents, you know,
what could potentially be causing?
No, what could potentially be causing
capsular contracture, which is more common.
That's the most common side effect.
So, and then there's procedures now
that they do to prepare the implants themselves,
like they bathed them in these antibiotic
solutions and you all this other stuff.
And they've got it down.
They've got it down now to the point where the risks with that most common side effect
are much lower.
Is it still silicone based?
Silicon is the most popular.
It feels real.
It's been around for a long time.
It's, you know, supposedly it shows lots of safety and not a problem.
But I think a lot of the problems that women have with implants, I don't know if it has
to do with the implant itself or it just has to do with the body rejecting the foreign
object in the body.
That's all I think it is.
Right, and there's going to be a small percentage of those people that it affects, but it probably
does affect them.
And then if you make the decision, you are rolling the dice somewhat.

You could definitely create the illusion to have it.
I know for sure when I was competing, you know, my calves have never been great, but
they were good. They were cool. I was cool with them. Like I said, they have a shape to
them. You could tell I worked them out. There's definitely a difference when you have
calves that you don't work out and then you actually shape and, you know, build. I mean,
my mind may never get huge, you know, but you can see a difference, but it took a lot of
fucking hard work to do that. The ass is the same thing for the girls, dude. Same exact thing.
You know, if you just put the work in, you actually work the butt right.
It might take some time. Yeah, it'll take some time.
But it'll be real. Oh, yeah. You can't do that with boobs. That's why I'm saying I'm skipping.

What are some ways to get them up and moving or some mobility stretches that would help them?
Do this is so cool that a teacher who wants to know this. I'm so glad
I know because I did to me. I'm so
So curious to see what is gonna happen the next 10 years
I know I've said that I'm probably people probably annoyed here and me say that so much, but this is something that I really think
we don't have any idea what's coming.
I think we are in for something that,
because it's so easy to justify the phone
and the computer thing all day long
because we're getting so plugged in,
and this is going to be in my opinion,
one of the biggest back lashes that we feel like completely for sure, US wide, potentially
worldwide because of how much we're all doing this. And I and I, I speak from experience
on the amount and level of work that I put in to it, to a counter it. And what it takes for
me to counter it. It's a lot of effort
just to neutralize it because it's inevitable. I'm gonna work on my computer because I know
there's people that are like, they just say fuck it because they're like, that's my job.
I have to do it. But it's like, if you don't start putting in practices to address the
rounded shoulders and forehead, when we first started as trainers, it was already common.
This is fucking, I mean, computers had only been around
for about 10 years, 10, 15 years prior to that.
We did have a lot of data to show somebody who was born
with a fucking computer and a cell phone,
and it started that at age fucking five potentially,
you know, how many parents you know,
throw the iPad to their kids,
and they sit in front of the iPad or their computer all day long like we haven't seen this for 20, 30 years before and it's accelerating the amount that the kids kids are playing less.
So go to go to a school, go to a school and when I go pick up my kids and I look at everybody, all the kids walk around, its kids look different now.
Forward shoulder, everybody.
Forward head, everybody.
Foot and ankle dysfunction, where you got flat feet,
feet turning out, whatever, everybody.
It's so common, it's insane.
And the problem with this is, the big problem is,
look, it's a problem with adults too,
but with kids, they're growing into their bodies,
their bodies are still changing.
They're gonna solidify some of this shit.
Yeah.
You know how, first off,
there's a certain level of dysfunction
you will never be able to correct.
Oh, 100%.
I'll give you an example.
I'll give you an example, okay.
I've been wearing shoes since the day I was able to walk, okay?
I will never be able to get my feet to the point
where my toes are all active and spread out
and my foot is strong and muster
as like somebody who has always lived barefoot.
At this point now, I'm trying to correct the past
and I'm improving, but I'll never,
it'll never be like somebody who's always out.
Well, there's not enough time in your life.
There isn't.
There's not enough time in your life There isn't there's not enough time in your life to counter the those those patterns for so many
I mean you like you said you were born a month later your parents got shoes on you
Yeah, from that point on like the mounted in order to counter you've done so much bad work for so long in order to count
It's you'd spend the rest of your life yep
Tempting just to do that and that's, and that's what's happening with kids.
But I love that a teacher is asking, recognizing.
And here's the other benefit to the teacher,
because I'm gonna give you some suggestions,
but here's the other benefit.
You're gonna find your students
are gonna be more productive.
Oh yeah.
And they're gonna focus better.
Taking breaks and just having them stand up alone
is gonna do wonders, but the first thing that comes to my mind is to get them
interacting with each other and like doing like partner
type stretches. So if you can have them kind of with their arms open and somebody behind them kind of holding them in place
while they stretch and open up their chest and shoulders retract
that would be a massively beneficial one. This would be a cool drive or a nonprofit thing
to try and solve this.
I would love to try and do something
where we get like schools like bands,
and we put together like a little two minute thing
that they do with their kids, that every desk has,
and that's part of like class.
They come in, they just real quick,
something that they can do to activate that post-ear chain
before they sit down in that rounded shoulder
entire time, that could be a big deal, dude.
That could be a really cool thing to really help out.
I would prefer to do it without any equipment whatsoever,
just to make it as as accessible as possible
because there's a lot of schools out there that
they're so tight with their
budget and they'll look at oh exercise.
These are just more barriers.
Yeah, they're like, I'm not going to.
No, that's why we would have to try and do.
Well, yeah, yeah, I would be that's why I'm saying it would be a cool cause to try and
get people behind to try and do.
Yeah, you of course, schools are not going to go pay for a ban for every single kid.
No, that would have to be a movement.
Yeah, I'm down to do.
Here's what I would, Here's what I would recommend. I recommend with your students is to have a timer
in the classroom that goes off and it sets off a ding
every 30 minutes or every hour.
And every 30 minutes when it goes off,
everybody stand up and have them do three or four movements.
It could be as easy as touch your toes,
reach up tall to the sky, touch your toes,
reach up tall to the sky.
It could be as easy as, you know,
put your foot up on your chair and maybe do a step up
or maybe you'll wanna step up on their chair
then they could do a couple standing squats.
And you're gonna get some mones and some groans
and so we got, but you just being,
okay everybody get up, do your three exercises,
when you're done with your three movements,
sit back down and get back down to work.
And what you'll find, what you're gonna find
is way better, focus and concentration,
because you know what happens when you sit down
at a computer for, and especially if you're a kid
for an hour, after about 30 minutes or so,
a lot of these kids are just looking at the screen
and they're not really doing anything.
You get them to get up and move
and they sit back down, they're right back on top.
Yeah.
Just some basic stuff, some squats, you know, in place.
Like anything, like I'm just trying to think of things that can just get up and do where
it doesn't, you know, you don't have to have a whole lot of things.
So if you just fold your hands behind your lower back and you pull your shoulders back
and down and I'm kind of like just working on that retraction to compensate for, you know, sitting
there the whole time.
But then yeah, like, so I'll set like, move, like just stepping in place, like you can
make it super simple doing jumping jacks, like basic stuff.
So that way it keeps the blood flow, it keeps them, you know, it keeps everything moving.
And you're right about the blood flow.
They show now in studies that sitting down for longer than 20 minutes, something reduces
blood flow to the brain, which of course will result in decreases in cognitive performance.
Here's how I would organize it.
If I was the teacher, I would get up every hour and I'd do it with them, just because
there's nothing more effective than leading it yourself.
So, okay, everybody stand up.
We're gonna do that whatever.
Do this, do that, do this, do that.
Takes a grand total of five minutes.
All right, everybody sit down, get back to work.
The second way to do it, if you don't wanna do this,
because I know there's a lot of teachers that are gonna be like,
I don't wanna do that.
I might be in the middle of something or whatever.
Then what you do is you elect a leader student
and you could change it every single day
and kids love doing this by the way. Empowering. Yeah, and you could change it every single day
and kids love doing this by the way.
Yeah, and you could say, okay, John, today,
you're the exercise leader, when the bell goes off,
you're gonna stand up and you're gonna take everybody
through three exercises and then, you know,
John's like cool, and then being, it does,
John stands up, he gets everybody to do it, they sit back down,
and I would do this every 30 minutes. It's what I would do.
Every 30, because you're in the classroom,
you know, between recess and break,
they're probably in the class,
I didn't give a moment for like a couple hours
or something like that.
So that sounds to me.
And you just rotate between lunges, squats,
pushups, you do shoulder circles,
and you just do like toe touches
and then arm extensions.
Imagine if you were a kid in the classroom that did this. and you just do toe touches and then arm extensions.
Imagine if you were a kid in the classroom, I did this.
I think it probably would help me pay attention.
Totally, dude.
I think it would've been for the boys in the class
on the guaranteed.
You know, because I'm not a teacher,
I feel bad about trying to give advice here.
I feel like they, I don't know what their students are like,
right?
So I wonder if the teacher's listening to this right now.
She's just like, yeah, right.
My kids are gonna get up and do that.
Or yeah, like that's what I'm wondering.
And like if that's coming for with some of the,
well, it's not gonna happen unless, you know,
you make it happen.
Right.
I mean, because I feel like I would have to create
some sort of like, you know, you know what I would do
is I would take one of those three yard sticks.
And hit the kids.
Yeah.
Bring it back home.
Yeah, exactly.
I get these little fuckers moving.
Did I ever tell you, oh my God, this poor kid fell asleep
and this was like Mr. Templeton.
He was like this old, grouchy old man
or whatever, this guy fell asleep in his class.
He got so pissed off, he took one of those rulers,
he smacked his hand with it.
He woke him up with that.
Oh shit.
Yeah, straight up just attacked him with it.
And we're all just like gasping.
Oh my God.
That's hilarious.
Yeah.
No, I would take gangster.
So I would take that the yardstick, right, that most teachers have in their classroom.
And I would use that as a to show them the three points of contact in a squat.
And I would make making a perfect squat, a competitive thing that would go on for the
year. And that I would show them like what a perfect squat looks a competitive thing that would go on for the year. And that
I would show them like what a perfect squat looks like and how the three points have to
have to connect. The teacher would have to know that. Right, right. That's just what I
would do. That's why I don't know the classroom. I don't know what I'm setting in, but I would
do something cool like that that would I feel like I could teach them something at the
same time. It gives them something competitive to try and focus on.
You know, the biggest hurdle is for teachers is not the teacher.
The biggest hurdle is the state or the federal, whatever, because a kid could
complain, then the principal will be like, well, we're not supposed to do that.
And with the asthma, which really pisses me off because teachers, you know, they should be the food allergy.
They should be having a flexibility to, you know, to teach the classrooms how they see fit
because the kids are so different from each other, but I don't think it's a fucking,
come on, I'll just stand up, you know, jump in place for 30 seconds, cool.
No, touch your toes, reach out. Even like the most important thing to do is to
get the kids to be able to do the same thing. Kids are so different from each other, but I don't think it's a fucking, come on. All right, everybody, stand up.
You know, jump in place for 30 seconds.
Cool.
Touch your toes, reach out.
Even like the wiggle out thing.
That's it, you know, I'm saying like,
they just really stuff.
Yeah, it doesn't even fucking matter.
Just get up and, yeah, stand tall.

Some of you guys are good at it.

because they're exercising a little bit?
Will it help them do better with their work?

That's what's going to happen.
You're going to see more kids pay attention
and more kids doing better with their schoolwork.

My girlfriend is in the process of trying to put on weight,
but struggles with hitting her daily
caloric target.
Are there any ways she can increase her appetite naturally and is there a specific map's program
she should get to help with that?
This is like the number one thing I think I get from girls that do maps in a ball.
Yeah, you say, you say, you say, you say, you say, you say it all the time, so I told
you that.
And now that we've been doing this for this long time. That, and it gets them the horny.
It's true.
Yeah.
I know, I get that a lot.
It's interesting.
Hungry and libido boots.
Hungry horny.
That is a very good, especially in phase one.
Yeah.
And that is a very good song.
Now, and what I think it is, it's like, it's not the program that's miraculous.
So let's unpack why.
I mean, we've been doing this for a very long time.
The reason why we've had so many
people that response is because a majority of girls typically are not good you in reps
they don't strength train and they don't strength train compound lifts where it's right and they
don't do properly right it's rare it's rare that you see that and so i think that's why
you see this huge like hormonal or libido
in the big change because I haven't felt that before.
Yeah, I mean, I remember the first time that I made that change.
And when it, because I didn't train like that, I train like that really young
for a really long time.
And then I found out about the myth of, oh, it's not just heavy weight
that builds muscle lightweight.
And then I did high reps for many, many years as a kid because when I,
then I switched to high reps, once you found something that worked. Yeah, then it worked. And I was, oh, shit, it must have been high reps for many, many years as a kid because when I then I switched to high reps. Once you found something that worked.
Yeah, then it worked.
And I was, oh shit, it must have been high reps.
That's what I was meant.
And so I was in that trap for a long time
and super setting and doing all that crazy stuff.
And then it wasn't until not that long ago
where I really reintroduced strength training again
where I was doing singles doubles, triples,
or five reps, like I had done that in years
and poor body response. So I think I hadn't done that in years, and, pooh, body response.
So I think it's more of that for what, why they feel that on the maps,
and then it's also, most people also make the mistake, a lot of,
especially people that like listen to this show that are avid people that
work out, right, is a lot of them over train and don't program well.
And anabolic is beautiful for somebody
who's training four or five, six days a week
and has been training for years
and just plateaued hard for a really long time,
switching to something that is less days in the gym
and that is better programmed out.
It's like, it always blows people away.
That's the one that people,
you know, in that situation, I have a hard time with.
It's very much so.
It's scheduled to rest and the scheduled, you know,
limitation.
Taking days off.
What you're doing.
I've been that guy too.
I've been the person too that, you know, like so,
even when I run anapocalyptic, I still gotta go to the gym.
Like seven days a week, it's just, you know, like six.
I don't have one day that I actually don't go to the gym,
but then that I'm, when I'm on my training,
I'm on my training, I'm on my training, I'm in there.
And I just like the, you know, being in that routine
where if I say at this time of every day,
this is my time for the gym and I don't ever miss,
sometimes I go there and stretching the whole entire time.
It gives you time to do mobility.
Right, right.
And so that's how I program that in.
If I'm following an anabolic protocol,
but it tell you what, very hard to make that mental switch
for a guy who likes to lift five, six, seven days a week.
So, yeah, no, I think it's a good, a good resistance training routine will almost like clockwork
make you, make you hungrier.
That's just, yeah.
It's one of the hallmark signs that a resistance training program is doing.
A new adaptation.
It is.
Yeah, almost always.
That's one of the, the number, that's one of the first comments I would get from clients
when I'd start training clients as a personal trainer.
I'd start training them, then they'd come to me like, my God.
My appetite's through the roof, what's going on.
I'm like, well, here's what's happening.
You're finally doing a workout that's sending the right signal.
Your body's now trying to build muscle.
As a result of that, your metabolism is speeding up.
Now your body's telling you to eat more. That is a very predictable thing.
In fact, if you do a new resistance strain routine
and your appetite decreases,
that's a good sign that your routine isn't good.
It's not working for you.
It's either too much or not effective.
If your appetite goes up,
especially if your strength goes up along with it,
those are the two best signs I could ever ask for.
When I have someone tell me,
hey, Sal, I'm doing the workout that you told me,
and here's what's happened so far, and they tell me,
I got stronger, and then this, this, this, this,
oh, my appetite's through the roof.
If I hear appetite going up and stronger,
I'm always like, great, routine's working great for you.
You're moving along the right track.
So this is common when you do a routine
that's telling your body to build muscle.
Because if your metabolism speeds up,
if your body goes from burning 1500 calories a day
to burning 2000 calories a day
because you're sending the right signal
and you're eating the same amount you're eating before,
you put yourself in a deficit now.
So let me break that down for you.
Let's say you were always burning 1500 calories a day.
That was your normal metabolic rate.
And you were consuming 1500 calories a day.
And so you were maintaining your body weight.
And you were working out hard
and doing all these different things.
And body weight hasn't changed, body weight hasn't changed.
Then you enroll in a program like Maps and a Balic
or you do something mouse and it works really fucking well
for you. And you're sending the right signal,
and now your body wants to build.
So your metabolism starts to boost up,
and now your metabolism is burning 2,000 calories a day.
What is happening when you're eating the same amount
of food you were eating before?
You are now in a deficit.
And what typically happens when you put yourself
in a 500 calorie or 300 calorie deficit for a few weeks, your appetite goes up.
That's what's happening.
That's exactly what's happening with your girlfriend.
What you want to do with your girlfriend is rather than try to force feed her food or
have her eat a bunch of garbage because this is what I used to do as a kid, is I was trying
to gain weight and I couldn't eat enough.
And so what I would do is I would eat...
Eat...
Eat... Eat those candy bars in, right?
Yeah, I would eat super highly palatable processed food
because, you know how it is.
If you're super full and you can't eat anymore,
you put a candy bar in front of me,
or you put a donut in front of you.
That's your training drive, your nutrition.
Absolutely.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I would eat this garbage,
and of course it wasn't healthy for me.
It wouldn't result in the right kind of weight gain
and muscle gain and all that stuff.
Now on the flip side, rather than having her force feed herself, if she starts to train
properly, her appetite will naturally increase.
And then she'll start eating more.
And now she's fueling muscle growth.
And it's not just, you know, whatever weight that she's trying to gain, but it always does
crack me up.
I think that's probably the most common,
first comment I would get from clients.
Well, it's because it's what's most needed.
It's what's what most needed for a majority of people.
That's what's so special.
I mean, that was when, that's what really excited me
when you first sent it before,
my pump ever existed.
And because I was literally just,
it's kind of, it's crazy the timing
how this all happened, because I was kind of putting this all together of, it's crazy the timing how this all happened
because I was kind of putting this all together
for myself as far as like, wow man,
we've been really sending all the wrong messages
out there as far as training is concerned
and at all levels and I feel like I wish I would have
pieced a lot of these things together 10 years ago,
you know, that I know now.
And when you sent over MAP Santa Bologna
the whole, you know whole lead magnet thing that
you and Doug had made, I was like, fuck, dude, this is, I haven't seen anything else where
someone is teaching something. And the beauty and it isn't its simplicity. It's, it's the
core things that are going to really help you more than anything else. Everything from central
nervous system to overall mobility, to strength, to building the physique you probably wanted. That's the true foundation, and then you can build upon on that.
And that's the evolution of that.
This we should address this while we're talking about this because I've been getting this
in the DMs a lot.
Because now we have all this different marketing that's out where people are coming in to
mind-punk from all different places, that there's kind of an order of operation
that the programs were created.
Like, and it's maybe, it's not very clear on the website
that that's how we intended them to be.
Now, it doesn't mean that you can't start anywhere you want
and bounce around and that's all fine and well encouraged,
but they were structured in a way that we really thought
of like all the things, the common, you know, fallacies or whatever they are out there with training and lifting and
tried to address them in the order that we think that we would coach somebody basically
who hired us, you know, that we would train for the next year to two years. This is the
order of operation. It's maps and a ball at first, you get them that and you're going to
get these great benefits. Metabolism boost and starts going up and they're getting to eat more
calories. They're training less than the gym. Like that, I mean, that when you're just starting
a program, like this is the things that you want to be feeling and having at the beginning
to ramp you up to get you ready for the type of volume that comes in aesthetic and split.
And then also meanwhile, addressing the things
like mobility, like we talk about all the time that.
Yeah, the ideal way to go would be
maps and a ball, maps performance,
and then aesthetic split and all that.
Yep.
That would be the ideal way to,
and here's a thing with appetite.
I want to stress this, if you're doing a hard workout
and you're pushing yourself really, really hard,
and your appetite just seems to want to disappear, that's a good sign that you're over training. It's one of the first things
that happens to me when I'm pushing my body to hard or whatever and I'm just like, I don't
feel like eating that much or I'll have weird cravings. So instead of, I don't want to
eat that much except I do want to eat a lot of crappy, shitty food to give me that serotonin
boost or whatever. Exactly, so. All right, next up for a Schneider.

using opiates and I told you I ran into him in Vegas, right? No. Oh, yeah, dude. He was
being carried out of a nightclub when I was going in. It was at a hawkasson. It was around,
I think it was, I think it was there for opening weekend.
And so was he, I think it was that weekend.
I can't remember for sure.
But I definitely remember him getting carried out.

So my guess is that he's no longer doing all the drugs and drinking and everything like

And he's now overweight, but claims to be really happy.
And what I would just say is he's just traded
one addiction for the other. And so his happiness maybe is disguised differently just because
he's expressing it and saying is, I mean, if he's gone that overweight, then instead of
doing lines of coke, he's doing eating shitty drinking or whatever, I don't know if he's
not drinking, he's sober, if he's eating whatever and looking like that.
I mean, I just had this conversation.
I had a really deep conversation with one of my family members that is trying to lose
weight right now.
And one of the things that I was saying to him when we were talking, I was like, he asked
me a very real question that was very hard for me to stay directly back to him because
I was like, felt back because he says
You know, do you know anybody that is or how many people have you helped that are my my size and I was a cult man hundreds
You know maybe a thousand. I don't know a lot man
And he goes well what percentage those lose all the weight and then keep it off
I said oh fuck man probably only like 20% to be honest. And I said,
you know, that part of that 20% I think one was I probably wasn't the best trainer that I was,
you know, I wasn't the best trainer back then. And I'm a lot more seasoned now. And so I can have
a conversation like this to let you know the pitfalls that are potentially coming ahead of you.

They had something else in their life that was our balance that they weren't addressing that was eating them up inside
And this is how they were expressing it was through food addiction and so know, people can say all they want that they're
fat and happy or what are that, but there's, it's normally you are, it's being, when you
get to a point where you're obese, okay, if you're considered obese, which believe it or
not, there's a lot more people out there that, that, that are obese that don't think they're
obese. I don't know how many times that, I made somebody cry when I did their body fat
test and you read it. How many times you guys make someone cry?
I'm uncomfortable.
I laugh because that's happened quite a lot.
So many times, right?
You're uncomfortable.
And it's like, oh, you're actually obese.
And they look at you like, what?
Yeah.
And right away, I have to tell them it's okay.
Most people I measure back here are.
So it's not where we're at.
It's where we go.
And so I'd have this little spiel that I said at the time
because I was so used to people breaking down
because they are just unaware. Some people get mad at spiel, I said at the time because I was so used to people, you know breaking down because they are just unaware
Yeah, even some people get mad at me like are you I'm not obese like okay, you know the body fat test is that's that's what they choose you but so
You know a lot of these people have got have stuff going on that they're not addressing and they think it's gonna be something
They're just gonna outwork and so I'm telling him the same things that, you know, this is not something that you
can just, you know, run off or discipline yourself to get rid of.
You've got to address some other things.
This is a behavioral, fundamental behavioral changes are the only things that will give
you long-term results with that.
What you do with that is of course change your diet and exercise a lot of stuff, but if
you don't change that, then you're just trying something out
and you'll go back to what you were doing before,
which is what statistics show most people end up doing.
But you are partially right about it.
Now, I'm basing my opinion off of what I see on the show.
So I don't know Mike at all,
but on the show, first of all,
he gets engaged to somebody, he seems like he's in love.
He causes no drama on the show,
which is the opposite of what he used to do.
He used to be the middle of all the drama.
Now there's drama and shit going on
and Mike is on the side, totally sober, totally cool.
He seems much more adjusted and comfortable with himself.
But I do think that there's something that he's dealing with
that he hasn't fully resolved because he is now,
he went from being shredded to now,
he does eat a lot of food.
But here's the thing.
Bro, he's probably still dealing with the asshole
that he was.
And I mean, if he's made that kind of growth
where he's not doing that anymore, right?
Like he's not in, he's probably, I mean,
at least this would be me.
If I was a reality star, made all this money, famous,
and then I realized when I went back
and watched my seasons, like, man, I'm kind of a douchebag.
Well, he's in trouble with the IRS.
Right, and he's got all kinds of issues, right?
So he's fucked up a million ways, he knows that.
And he's got it recorded to watch it.
You know, he's one of the guys,
I think he was one of the guys that started trips,
and he helped fund it.
Yeah, he did, he did.
He's really paid our,
I watched that old episode where he, you know, Arvin started shreds. Let me help him. Yeah, he did. He did. Yeah, he paid our...
Because I watched that old episode where he, you know,
Arvin came and they were hanging out, whatever.
Oh, he did.
He's pretty weird now.
That's pretty weird.
But, you know, here's the thing I wanted, I do want to say is,
you know, health encompasses a lot of different things.
And so physically, we could look at, you know, old Mike
and see that he shredded and lean and say, he's healthier
there than he is now where
he's overweight, but he's not.
He's not.
He was very unhealthy in that state.
Physically he was leaning a lot of stuff, but he was what he was doing to his body, what
he felt emotionally and mentally and maybe spiritually was all very, very unhealthy unhealthy.
Today, what it seems again, I don't know him, but it seems like on the show is he's much,
much, much healthier in most areas. Phys is he's much, much, much healthier
in most areas.
Physically, he's not as healthy, he's not as lean,
he's overweight, he's eating bad food,
but everything else seems a lot better,
and I would say overall, he is in a much better place today
than he was before.
So if you had to compare the two, there's no comparison.
If you watched the show at all, you would see that today,
he's a much better person and much better off,
and I think everybody around him who cares about him
prefers him overweight, but the way he is now.
And maybe that's the direction he has to go.
You know, initially just to be able to get to a place
where he's in a better mental state,
you know, he starts caring about himself more
to where that'll hopefully like bleed into
then working on the body again.
But it will.
My bet is that he's gonna get in.
If he's a growth-minded person, it's just a natural progression.
Yeah, I think you're 100% right, Justin.
I think he tackled, because think about it this way.
When you're tackling, he got rid of the big rocks.

No doubt, he's in a better place for sure.
And he's holding on to this one thing which is right.
And he's like, okay, this is keeping me.
Which I think this is a common character
that we see in life all the time.
You see this in clients, I've seen this before.
And I know people that think,
or they profess like how happy they are,
but they're really, really, really overweight.
And I know that there's still stuff
that they've got to work on.
It's like, or not, you know what I'm saying?
It's their fucking life.
You know, and I know people too who have chosen that way.
I mean, that is to fuck it.
I'm going to die in 10 years.
I don't care, you know what I'm saying?
So it to each their own.
Yeah, no, I think what's going to happen now is he's getting everything in order.
Everything seems a lot better.
He's not taking, doing any drugs.
He's not drinking.
He's getting married.
He seems happy.
Again, I don't know, and personally,
just just the image that is coming across on the show.
And then I think he's gonna start to lose the weight
in a way that's kind of, that's healthy.
And when I'm heading to, I've seen this a million times
where I'll get a client who's overweight
and you know, my training, especially back half
of my training career, the way I train people
is very different and I'd give them lots of space,
give them lots of support,
I'd provide them with good information,
and give them good training,
but I'd help them understand that it's a long process.
And I can't, you know, you know,
many times I've seen this where I'll have a client
who wants to lose 40 pounds,
and I'll train them for four years, okay?
And they'll lose five pounds over a three year period.
And then all of a sudden, as if like magic at a nowhere,
it clicks, the rest of the weight's gone,
never comes back.
It's just like they got everything else in order,
they got all the behavioral things,
you know, and check, they changed the way they viewed
themselves, and then the weight just kind of came off
and they feel, you know, they feel amazing afterwards.
That's happened many, many times.
I said the back half of my career.
Yeah, there's a lot of psychological things that they have to work through a, many times. I said the back half of my career. Yeah, there's a lot of psychological things
that they have to work through a lot of times.
And yeah, you just being there is like sort of,
you know, a guide in, for them to kind of count on
for accountability is just as valuable as,
you know, going through the workouts
and working on their body and nutrition.
So sometimes, do you think we're ever gonna be able to look,
do you think we're gonna be able to discuss food as being like a drug?
Do you think people ever look at it like that?
I mean, we really haven't had it this accessible or through most ever.
So we're only really dealing with this in the last hundred years, right?
We can start to actually like identify them and like categorize them as such as potentials. Nobody wants to
talk about the addictive properties of say sugar or some of these other hyper-palatable
foods and processed foods. There's just fights on corals amongst everybody.
I'll debate anybody. I forget the macro nutrients and picking out an evil one. Here's the bottom
line. First of all, anything can be a drug So anything that we derive pleasure from, we can abuse,
including sex gambling, of course drugs.
Right, right.
That's what I mean.
So why can't we, why don't we speak to food the same way?
I think we should.
I think sometimes it's push back,
because then people will say,
it's not my fault, it's a disease.
And then, okay, and all that stuff.
So that becomes a problem.
Well, sticky because it's also sustenance.
Yeah, and you can't go cold turkeys. And you can't quit food.enance, you know, it's essential. Yeah, you don't go cold turkeys.
Like you can't quit food.
Like I know, you know, I used to eat all the time,
but I haven't eaten now for five years
because I quit at all.
Like you can't do that with food.
And food is, it is so ingrained in our, in our culture,
that we don't, we don't quite,
we can't really quite grasp, you know,
it's importance in everything that we do.
There are specific foods for breakfast,
there's specific foods for lunch and dinner,
the specific foods for different celebrations.
There's different ways that we eat food.
There's an order that we eat food.
There's manners when we eat food.
It's the number one way we meet
and communicate with people.
If you go on a date, what do you tend to do?
Tend to go eat food.
When you go hang out with people, what do you tend to do?
Tend to go eat food. It is, hang out with people, what do you tend to do? You tend to go eat food.
It is, so there are cultures with their own cultures of food.
You know, we know what a tie-in food looks like.
We know what Mexican food looks like.
We know the cultures around the food
with those different cultures.
It's so ingrained in who we are as humans
that it makes it the, it's obviously why it's-
I don't think we have to ever worry or lose any of that stuff. It's the
Since we've been able to make it. Yeah, you know, say make all this artificial stuff put in a wrap or store it for years
And it be still fine like that it's and this surge of fast food restaurants and then food being delivered to your couch like
That's where I like it wasn't we you know at that time
I you know just 50 years ago,
you couldn't access it fast as that fast.
It just was, you know, to over-consume then,
compared to now, and then also a cheap, like,
talk about this, I always feel for clients,
I used to feel for clients all the time
that we talk about, you know, how cheap it is to eat shitty.
You know what I'm saying?
You could live off of McDonald's from a calorie perspective,
very reasonably cheap in comparison to eating.
Well calories isn't even the issue.
It used to be the issue for most human civilizations.
Get them enough calories.
Now that's not the issue.
Calories are cheap and they're easy.
But it's a big problem.
And look, I tell you what,
it's humans have been making food more palatable
since the first time we cooked food.
Like, you know, we would cook it a particular way
and then we learned to add particular seasonings to it.
That's like, that's really a prehistoric
and not a primitive way of processing.
No, of course.
You know, like, who eats a steak with nothing on it now?
At the absolute most basic,
we'll put salt salt maybe pepper on it
Well, that's a way to make it more palatable and so we've been doing this for a long fucking time to the point now where
Recipes for foods are so complex. It's hilarious
Even homemade foods go make something homemade from scratch. It's like a side
It's like you got to follow step-by-step and measurements or somebody figured that out at some point

Yeah, that we take it for granted and changing how you eat is a lot harder or at least a lot more complex than just saying
I got to follow this diet so I can get in shape or whatever like you know
Just appreciate that the challenge how weird and strange would life be if like
it was all like intravenous.
Like, you know, like you ate just like it, you didn't taste anything, you know, you didn't
eat anything, you just like all your nutrients came intravenously.
You know, there's certain religions that or like beliefs where they eat super bland foods
or particular foods because they don't believe
in stimulating any of the pleasure systems of the body.
So they'll eat super bland foods.
No sex, no music, because they believe it purifies the body
or whatever, isn't that funny?
Oh my God.
But I mean, that just goes to show that they can wait
till they die to do something better.
Yeah, I have no idea.
Yay.

think about what you learn about yourself
