I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful.
Starting point is 00:02:18 I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit more careful. I'm going to be a little bit moreos, I'm Ash. I'm Elena. That was a really chill intro, huh? Very chill. I threw it together in like 10 minutes. Oh!
Starting point is 00:02:54 We promised you fancy pants and we delivered. You got the fancy pants. They're really fucking tight. Yeah, hold on to your butts. Hold on to your butts. So this is fucking insane. I can't believe we're at the Grammar's Theater right now. I'm not even going to do this because that's scary.
Starting point is 00:03:22 I can see all you doing that. This is really scary. But thank you so much for having us New York. This is amazing. Seriously. Thank you guys so much. Our first show was in Providence and it was like Wicked Small.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Was anybody there? Okay, a couple people. Hey, look at that. Look at that. It's so weird to see a room filled like this. It really is. But where from Boston? In case anybody didn't know?
Starting point is 00:03:47 So I felt like we had to do a Yankee suck joke. I told her not to. Yeah. So I'm not gonna. But do you see that I just did a Yankee suck joke without doing a Yankee suck joke? We have no leg to stand just did a Yankee Suck joke without doing a Yankee Suck joke? We have no leg to stand on but Yankee suck But see I love New York personally because this is where John and I got engaged
Starting point is 00:04:20 Thank you's right over there. He's so cute. There he is I've actually only been to New York once before this and it like really wasn't that fun, but trash is going out tonight, so we're going to turn that around. She's taking the trash out. Yes, hell yeah. So Elena actually had a wicked good idea on how to start the show. I did. It came to me in a fever dream. So I was like, okay, the Grammar Seat Theatre, there's going to be some of like weird haunted history here.
Starting point is 00:04:45 It's like kind of old. I think it's from like the 30s. It's real old. Some of them must have like died near here or something. There's gotta be like a hot happening here and I was like the light's a low. It's gonna be spooky as fuck. I'm ready. I researched.
Starting point is 00:04:57 I was like, yes. Nothing fucking happened here. There is, there either, I think it must be ghosts like handing out NDAs or something like that. They don't tell anyone. Because nothing happened. So sorry about it. We don't care. We're happy to be here.
Starting point is 00:05:12 It was the thought that counts. I tried. I really tried. Yeah. Like I said, we're happy to be here. Yeah. This is fucking insane. This is amazing.
Starting point is 00:05:19 So thank you so much for having us. Woo! Woo! We have one more thank you. We don't know where she is, but our listener Mars did our makeup today. She was featured in Vogue, and she made us feel beautiful. So wherever you are, thank you Mars. She's amazing. We love her. So should we just dive right into this? Let's get it. So I don't know if you noticed from my subtle cue, but we are doing David Berkowitz, son of a-save.
Starting point is 00:05:55 So that's not him. That's not him. That's him. Ash is going to set a little scene of New York in the 1930s. Actually, it was in the 1970s. Close. I mean, time is non-violent. Couple of decades off.
Starting point is 00:06:14 It's fine. You guys were going insane in the 70s. There was a blackout where 3,000 people were arrested. Somebody was like a mountain climber was scaling the side of the World Trade Center. You were wild and you got gangs. We're like planting bombs in department stores. Not awesome.
Starting point is 00:06:33 You guys, it was chill as fuck, it was fine. Yeah, everything was cool. Now, a quick note about this douchebag. He initially claimed to be driven by hallucinations, demons, all that shit. dogs, yeah, dogs. But then he just admitted that he just hated women and that's why he did all that, so fuck this guy. He's basically another Dennis Raider.
Starting point is 00:06:57 He's like, yeah, he's the OG Dennis Raider and we're gonna treat him as such. We're going to shit on him. So, yeah, we're not gonna call him, you know, he's not, when I recall him, son of Sam, that bullshit, he named himself up. That he made himself up, yeah. He's David and we're gonna call him that,
Starting point is 00:07:19 just like Dennis. And I was just thinking Studio 54, Ash could go there with those pants tonight. That's true. Yes. Studio 54 was like hopping around this time. Yeah, there you go. I don't miss that I missed out on that.
Starting point is 00:07:33 So the reason I was thinking of the 1930s was because in the 1930s, young Betty Broder was a struddling woman just trying to make shit happen in Brooklyn, our wheel. All right. Oh, jinx, fight me a cook. was a struddling woman just trying to make shit happen in Brooklyn. Aren't we all? Jinx, find me a cook. Obviously, this is during the great depression, and no name has ever fit in an era more perfectly because shit was fucking depressing.
Starting point is 00:07:56 She had worked since she came out of middle school. She had to help put food on the table. She had eight siblings that she was basically taken care of. Her parents were Jewish immigrants. They came to America to form a new life. They were William and Gussie Broder and they were from Poland and Austria. She was 19 years old when she met a fine looking fellow named Anthony Tony Falco. She described him as rugged tall handsome and very strong. Oh honey. That's how I described John That's how I described Annie she's not here, but we love it
Starting point is 00:08:35 They met at a dance and prospect park in Brooklyn like an outdoor dance apparently that happened back then I don't know. I love that She said she was quoted as saying, on Sundays, you would go with your friend to the park and just dance. Me too. It was a wonderful time. Everyone was happy, and there was no crime. Sounds pretty pure.
Starting point is 00:08:56 So they hit it right off, and since shit sucked at the time, they were like, let's just get Mary and suffer through this bullshit together forever. So they got married in December 1935, and it wasn't until 1939, after they struggled their way through, that they saved enough money together to open a business. This business, a business, a business, was a fish market because of course it was. What other businesses there? Whatever.
Starting point is 00:09:27 And they were about to nail that whole American dream thing. They were like on their way. The white picket fence, the fish. The fish. All of it. Making dreams happen. And then a month after opening this beautiful fish market, Betty found herself pregnant.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Who do you think was in that womb? It was Rosalyn. Rosalyn wasn't that close. Rosalyn Falco was born November 14, 1939. This is son of Sam David's sister. She was born within the year. And Tony took off after this, awesome, because he was not ready to raise both a fish market and a human apparently. That's a lot of pressure.
Starting point is 00:10:12 He was like, I don't want either one now. I'm done. He was like, I'm good. Too much. So not only did he piece right out after Rosalind was born, but he went and like, shacked up with another woman. So like, fuck Tony. So now Betty's left to raise a child in a fish market.
Starting point is 00:10:27 And unfortunately the fish market was the thing that suffered. I guess fortunately that's the thing that suffered. I was gonna say not the child. Yeah. I'm glad she picked the child. I didn't think that one through. But yeah, so apparently, you know, the fish market suffered.
Starting point is 00:10:40 It closed this door to bankruptcy. Eight years later, Betty still on hard times until she meets a dude named Joseph Kleinman. Joseph was a business dude, he was slinging real estate from Long Island. He had a shit together. He was good looking, he was swab as fuck, and he was also married. Nobody can have it all, you know. There's always a catch. And in his own words, he was quote, saddled with a wife who wouldn't hear of a divorce.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Oh, like I'm sorry. Was this wife mandatory? Like was someone like, nope, you need to have this wife. You weren't saddled with a wife. You chose a wife. You fucking twat waffle. Ah, twat waffle. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Yeah, I liked that. They come to me in a dream. So Betty went and got pregnant again. With the married dude. By Joseph. And Joseph was like, nope, not happening. So according to Betty, he said, your pregnant, not me, I want to keep seeing you, but I'll be damned if I pay a cent for that child support.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Great guy. Awesome, dude. Yeah. It's like, fuck you, dude. And also, I was thinking about this. I used to do this both ways when I was pregnant. When we were out in public, I'd be like, oh my God, we're pregnant.
Starting point is 00:11:58 We are pregnant. It's beautiful. And then as soon as I wanted, like, uncompromise sympathy from John, I was like, I'm pregnant, not you! I'm gonna put that in my back pocket for some day. This is, you know, you can have it both ways, ladies. It's ladies. [♪ Music playing, we're taking you back to the days before streaming services.

So she was like, all right, I'll do it. So June 1st, 1953. That's your anniversary. Not in 1953, but to be clear. I'm old, but not that old.
Starting point is 00:14:36 That's when John and I got married. June 1st, yay. But also it was a bummer of a day on 1953. It kind of was because Richard David Falco came into the world with the most confusing name ever. So he was Joseph Kleinman's kid, but his last name was Falco, which is the name of the guy who left her
Starting point is 00:14:55 when she got pregnant with another child. And he's called David, but his name is fucking Richard. You lost me. Fucking David. I'm like, is this son of Sam? Just, he's David. This is David Berkowitz, we're talking about. I don't David. I'm like, is this son of Sam? Just, he's David. This is David Berkowitz.
Starting point is 00:15:06 We're talking about, I don't know why he has like all these, like Richard V. 55-goes. Who's that? So whatever, David. David was given to a couple from the Bronx, who couldn't have child of their own. Yeah, Bronx.
Starting point is 00:15:19 There they are. That's the couple. That's Nathan and Pearl Berkowitz. So now we're going to call him Son of Pearl. Because that's stupid and so is he. So Nathan and David, Nathan and David, they weren't really bros, like right from the guy that went wrong. They were kind of attention-filled.
Starting point is 00:15:44 Nathan liked to tell David that he was a mistake. Yeah, that's like, it's not great parenting. It's also like, you made this choice, bro. Like, you adopted me. Yeah, that's the other mistake. I adopted my mistake. You literally went out and got me. Like, you stopped me out for this job here.
Starting point is 00:16:00 So they were not close, but David, I'm sure you're all shocked. Shocked. It's bear with me. It's the grammar, so you're okay. But David did have a very weirdly close relationship with Pearl, which is not shocking. But it's not his mom mom. No, it's not his mom mom. I mean, it's still fucking weird. It's not his mom mom. It's a kind of lie. I just fucking ran to his defense. Yeah, you're like, it's not his mom. I mean, it's still fucking weird. Not his mom mom. It's the kind of lie. I just fucking ran to his defense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:27 You're like, it's not his mom. All right, David, it wasn't weird. It's finally not. Not being to David. OK. So David was apparently big for his age all the time, just forever and always. He was pretty sure.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Yeah, he like stills big for his age. He's like seven year, something. Shelby Behemoth. Yeah, spoiler alert. He's still alive. Yeah, that's comings big for a day. He's like 70 or something. Shelby Behemoth. Yeah, spoiler like he's still alive. Yeah, that's coming, don't worry. He was also super hyperactive, but people said he was good looking, which like I wholeheartedly disagree. Yeah, that's a hard pass for me.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Hard pass. Nope, no thank you. Hard pass, I think. Didn't something describe his lips as something really cool? Somebody described his lips and I'm not going to get the word right, but I think it was like succulent maybe. Or like satisfying or like hot. And I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:17:12 You know, I don't know what lips you're looking at. I feel some type of way out of that. Those lips are from the fish market. Yeah, no. That just came to me. That was good. I didn't know what that should sound. I like it.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Yeah, those are some fish lips, I'm sure. He was also, so that dude, you saw him with that big stupid face. He was also a bully, which I'm like, what? You weren't bullied, you are the bully, whatever. He was jealous of the other guy. He had a violent streak in him. At four years old, a kid, this isn't funny, it's funny though. I can't, because fuck that guy.
Starting point is 00:17:47 At four years old, a kid dropped a rock on his head. Like a big rock? It must have been kind of a big rock. It's notable. I thought that was him for a second. I was like, gross. There he is. Yeah, see, there's this big stupid face.
Starting point is 00:18:01 There's this succulent voice. This is, those are. They are face. This is succulent lips. And this is those are. They are not. I don't know. I just don't know. I just don't know. Ooh, what'd you do to that? Ha, ha, ha.
Starting point is 00:18:16 So yeah, after the rock got dropped on his head, someone I'm around there, he started asking about his birth mother. And Nathan and Pearl were like, oh, yeah, about her. She died when she was giving birth to you. Spoiler alert, not true. That is untrue. Not true at all. And a very awful thing to tell your child. So he started, he immediately started thinking, I killed my mother, which it's like, that's a bummer. Maybe they should not told him that. It maybe could have like stopped the following events.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Yeah, I mean either I don't think so. I think he just hated ladies. Yeah, you know, it happens. Because he also hated ladies because weirdly no one wanted to kiss that. So, yeah, and that's apparently our fault as a gender, I guess. I don't know. So when he turned seven, things are not going awesome for him,
Starting point is 00:19:04 with the rock dropped on the head and all that. So he turned seven, and he got hit by a car. Yeah, large bummer. This resulted in a head injury, as I'm sure you can tell. And now things that were researching kept saying, it's unknown if he suffered any long-term effects. I feel like it's, it happens. I'm here to say he suffered any long-term effects. I feel like it's, it happened. I'm here to say he suffered some long-term effects confirmed.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Like, a lot of long-term, I can diagnose. It's fine. This is when he became starting becoming really aggressive. He even killed his mother's pet bird. With poison. He did. Where the fuck did he find poison? I had like bit all over everybody. I'm sorry. I don't think there was a nurse. There's Pet Bird. With poison. He did, he poised. Where the fat did he find poison?
Starting point is 00:19:45 I had like bit all over everybody, I'm sorry. I don't think they would have noticed. First row, this is for you. So yeah, he killed his mother with bird. And the reason he killed Pearl's bird was because his mother was paying more attention to the bird than him. It'd be like that sometimes.
Starting point is 00:20:01 It'd be like that. She's killing her mother with a bird. She'll pay attention to you. Yeah, that's fine. Then he a better. Pay attention to you. Yeah, that's fine. Then he started burning bugs and committing casual arson. So is casual arson a thing for David? It was.
Starting point is 00:20:13 I think it was fairly casual with him. He would just be like, he was just out and he was like, I'm gonna light this on fire. There we go. I don't know if it's a flash an hour. So let's set something upon fire. He said a lot of fires. I have a number for it somewhere in here.
Starting point is 00:20:24 It'll come up. It's like 1200, isn't it? Yeah, it's like, yeah. It's a lot of fires. I have a number for it somewhere in here. It'll come up. It's like 1200, isn't it? Yeah, it's like, yeah. It's up there. It's up there. A lot of fires. So in 1965, Pearl was diagnosed with breast cancer. And by 1967, she had declined steadily and passed away.
Starting point is 00:20:40 This devastated David, which that's fine. I totally saw that. Right. But he thought it was like a personal attack, or like, that's fine, I don't know. Right, police that I get it. But he thought it was like a personal attack, or like, and he also thought it was like another woman abandoning him, which it's like that really wasn't her fault, bro. Yeah, you can't call her out on that one. Yeah, it's like, no.
Starting point is 00:20:56 And then Nathan, his father, remarried in 1971 to a woman who thought David was a big weird asshole, and she was correct. She was. She had a hunch. Yeah. So they moved to Florida, and the woman was like,
Starting point is 00:21:12 yeah, let's not take that big weird asshole with us. And so David stated New York, and just became a full-blown nightmare at this point. So in 1971, he joined the Army. I think that's his Army picture. Sure is. That's his Army picture. I got a little happy hands there.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Yeah, too soon. That's fine. We were just getting you ready. At the time, we were in the thick of the Vietnam War. But David was actually stationed in Korea. In Korea, he lost his V card. Ooh, sassy. You go, David.
Starting point is 00:21:43 I'm pretty sure it's the only time he had sex too, so I feel like I'm going to be horrifying in the middle of a war in Korea, not a fuck up. Well, and he came out of that experience with not a T-shirt, but a Lausie STD. So, it's not a good experience. So everyone who knew him said that he was changed by his military service.
Starting point is 00:22:05 And not for the better, like he didn't become a more well-rounded individual, he became like a bigger asshole. One thing that everyone said that was he was a great shot. He was like a really good marksman. In fact, I think he ended up being able to shoot at like a sharp shooter ability, which unfortunately we'd wreak havoc later in life. He also did a ton of drugs in the military, like cocaine, acid. I mean, he was experimenting. He was doing all kinds of things. And actually, last podcast on the left, I don't know if anybody listens to him.
Starting point is 00:22:38 I love them. They said it best, and I had to quote Marcus Parks, because he said he was so close to being groovy. But he just like, it's like you take drugs and you can go so far or you can take drugs and become like the Manson family. And that's where he took it. Unfortunately. It got out of hand. Yeah, it got out of hand, unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:23:01 He was honorably discharged in 1974, which is rare for these guys. I feel like they're always dishonorably discharged. But at 21 years old, he was going back to NYC. So what's interesting is that people who knew him said he went into the military being like, yeah, war, let's do it, war, war, war. And then he came out of the military and he was like a pacifist. He was like, this is terrible. Everybody just love, and let he came out of the military and he was like a pacifist. He was like, this is terrible.
Starting point is 00:23:26 Everybody just loved and went smoke weed together. Okay. Which, that sounds great. You're like, all right, high five. Let's do it. Everybody just loved each other and smoke weed. This isn't particularly weird, but what's weird is the fact that he then went and brutally murdered several women in his leisure time.
Starting point is 00:23:46 So I don't know where those two things connect, but he came back being like peace, love, and then he just started murdering people. It didn't work out. Yeah. So he got an apartment in Yonkers that always reminds me of Tyler the creator. I don't know if anybody listens to that, but I don't know. Why does everyone want to wrap it for you? Because he has a song called The Yonkers. Yeah, I do. that, but I don't know. Why does it remind you of it? To wrap it for you, because he has a song called
Starting point is 00:24:05 Donkers. Yeah, I do. No, no, no, no. Oh, fuck. It's too dirty. My grip was here. I'm not wrapping that in front of my grip. Yeah, my dad's right over there, by the way.
Starting point is 00:24:17 There he is. There he is. Mollet him out tonight. Mollet him out of the cage tonight. So yeah, he got in department in Yonkers. He was doing jobs as like a security guard, a cab driver, a mail sorter. When he worked at the Bronx Post Office, he worked the overnight shift. And people said he was super introverted to the point where they didn't even know he worked there.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Like when he all knows someone like that. Yeah. And like, oh, that guy quit. That guy quit. So he got hired here at one point. Like, what? Was that dude? Was his name Joe?
Starting point is 00:24:54 What was that? Yeah. And when he got, when he left, they were like, yeah, we don't know who that is. So like, bye. Well, this year. Yeah. Bye, David. His neighbors at his apartment said he was a total dick,
Starting point is 00:25:07 which I'm sure is very surprising that he was not like a wonderful neighbor. He constantly called the police on them or had the police called because he was fighting with his neighbors. He was just like a big tool. For example, Craig Glasman, who was a corporal for the Westchester County Sheriff's Emergency Force.
Starting point is 00:25:26 So fancy. Big dude. Yeah, big dude. Like important. Yeah, not in size. I don't know if I'm supposed to. Inimportance. He lived on the floor below Berkowitz, and he got a few threatening notes written by David.
Starting point is 00:25:39 He was like, he really liked to write. He loved writing notes this dude. Yeah. And not well, as we will see. So he found out at one point during this time that his mother was in fact alive, and he ended up reconnecting with her and his half-sister Rosalind. He visited them like on and off for a while, once he realized that she had given him up for adoption because she was bumping ugly, so the married dude,
Starting point is 00:26:06 and that the married dude was like, give that kid away. He was like, wow, that sucks. And you suck it too. And you kind of suck. So then he started thinking his mother was impure because she had slept with the married men, and that's the reason he was conceived. And yada, yada, yada.
Starting point is 00:26:21 So it's just like another check mark on the I hate women thing. So to him he's like you're filthy and he stopped going to see her. That's really good. So it's super rude. So he kept going with his pyro ways as well. Oh this is the number guys. This is the number. It was more than that.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Oh. He set over 1500 fires in New York City between 1974 and 1977. How do you do that without getting caught? I'm asking for a friend. I'm not. That's on a pad. How would one do that? How do you go about that?
Starting point is 00:26:54 You're like, can I pin my own stuff? How would you do that? I don't know math, but that's like a lot. Yeah, that's a busy schedule of committing arse. And I feel like. He like scheduled that out. Yeah, he did. He set fire here.
Starting point is 00:27:08 Yeah. Hey, Sarri. And he did. He wrote in all his journals about it. And at this time, he really, this is when he dentist, like real hard, he referred to himself as the phantom of the Bronx. That's stupid.
Starting point is 00:27:24 I don't like that one. Like fucking beautiful. I love the chubby bohemus. I love the chubby of the Bronx. That's stupid, I don't like that one. Like fucking beautiful. I love the Chubby Bohemists. I love the Chubby Bohemists. That's the only thing I know, Mous. So he's the Dennis of the Bronx at this point. In 1975, he met with people who were, I don't know where he met with,
Starting point is 00:27:37 these people, he just met people that were into the occult, and he's like, oh hey, let's talk about it. And he was like, I'm into it. So he had a thing for horror movies growing up anyways. So he was like, obviously, hey, let's talk about it. And he was like, I'm into it. So he had a thing for horror movies growing up anyways. So he was like, obviously, these two things mesh together. So he was really starting to get into like the Satanic Bible, demons, all that good stuff.
Starting point is 00:27:55 On Christmas Eve, that same year, 1975, he struck for the first time. He took a huge, this is so weird and like random. He took a huge hunting knife. It had a four-inch blade, went out into the streets that evening, and at around 6.45 pm, he saw a random woman just leaving of grocery store. He had already decided I'm looking for a woman tonight, I'm looking for a woman who's alone, and I'm a murderer. That's just what I'm gonna do. So he just walked up to her, she's carrying her groceries, and he just started stabbing her like a million times. He hit her in the mid-back, he was hitting her in
Starting point is 00:28:34 like the like shoulders, she had a big puffy coat on, so luckily it like helped to stop some of it because he's an idiot. And this woman was never identified, which is crazy. She just ran off in the middle of the night. And David claims she just ran, screamed, looked at him, and then just ran away. Which I'm like, I don't even know if that really happened. But OK. Well, he later told his psychologist,
Starting point is 00:28:58 he didn't understand why she screamed so much. Are you fucking kidding me? He said, have you been stabbed, dude? Yeah, it's not fucking why. Maybe not talking why. He said, quote, I wasn't going to rob her or touch her or rape her, I just wanted to kill her. I don't know why she was overreacting so much.
Starting point is 00:29:19 Why did she fucking scream so much? And he said, like, it scared me. I didn't like it. I'm so sorry, bro. Later that night, so after this whole thing, he stabbed another girl who was 15 years old. Oh, yeah. Her name was Michelle Foreman, and he stabbed her six times.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Oh my God. She fought him like crazy. Like with tooth and nail. Good on her. She fought him like crazy. Like with tooth and nail. Good on her. She fought, she screamed, she yelled, and then she ended up running into a nearby apartment for help. She survived the stab wounds to her torso, her head,
Starting point is 00:29:55 and she had a collapsed lung. He stabbed her in the head. He stabbed her in the goddamn head. I didn't know that. Yeah, it happened, and she survived. So many people survived being shot in the head in this. It's like kind of mystifying. It's alarming. Yeah. I don't know that. Yeah, it happened and she survived. So many people survived being shot in the head in this. It's like kind of mystifying. It's alarming.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Yeah, I don't know what was going on. It was something in the water in New York. It was something. You were all like, bionic. I don't know what's going on. I mean, it's great. I'm glad. But she later said that he quote,
Starting point is 00:30:18 ran with a sluggest gate. Well, because he was fat. Which, of course, he did. The chubby bohemus. So a of course, he did the chubby behemoth. So a month later, he moved out of his current apartment and into a rental house in Yonkers again. His landlords were Jack and Nan Kassara. They owned a German Shepherd.
Starting point is 00:30:37 And German shepherds can be loud and they bark, because they're a dog. But they're wicked cute, they're like, hello, friendly. They are, I love German shepherds. Yeah, they're cute. Yeah. He claimed this loud dog was possessed by a dog. But they're wicked cute, they're like, hello, friendly. They are. I love German Shepherd. They're cute. Yeah. He claimed this loud dog was possessed by a demon. And it was ordering him to kill young women. But then he claimed another dog did that too,
Starting point is 00:30:55 so he was full of shit. He was just like, any dog that was around him making noise, he was like, Damon. And then he was like, I need to kill people because that dog's telling me to. You would think it would be cats, because cats are like kind of shitty. Because cats are assholes. They are demons.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Sorry if you like cats. Yeah, I just lost half the room. I mean cats are fine. Cats are fine. I'm allergic. We're not going to do, because at our first show I made the horrible mistake. Oh god. I was saying that one of the murderers was like really into birds.
Starting point is 00:31:24 And I was like like I don't know Just don't be a bird person that's kind of weird and people were like fuck you. I love birds And I was like it's so so good. It's so beautiful. We're sorry that the That the hair got boys and cats are beautiful. We're all beautiful. We love animals. Love what you love But yeah, he was just useful shit like no dog is telling it. Dogs are just like, I love you, be my friend. They're not like, go kill that woman for me. I need blood. That is a cat's job.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Yeah, they are. So he only lasted three months in this place. And he moved out and into 35 Pine Street in Yonkers. Yonkers. In this new place, he had a new neighbor named Sam Carr. There he is. That's that guy. Sam, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:11 This neighbor had a black lab. That's my favorite dog. And it's, yeah, I love labs. I had a chocolate lab and he was fat and awesome. It was. Yeah, he was. His name was Harvey, this one. Oh, yeah, look at him.
Starting point is 00:32:25 David hated him. Of course. Who hates a Labrador? Like who anyway to lab? Fucking David. So first, he tried to kill Harvey with a Molotov cocktail. So I was like looking this up.
Starting point is 00:32:42 What's Molotov? A Molotov cocktail. It's like an explosive. Oh what? Yeah. To blow that motherfucker up. I thought it was like green poison or some shit. Sure. It's an explosion. It's an explosion. Wow. I thought it was green poison.
Starting point is 00:32:57 I don't know why I thought it was green. I think that it was green. I don't know. Like I just felt like it was green. You know what? Like a vision came to me. I feel you. That, here's the shocking part, it didn't work. That did not kill Harvey. I'm glad.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Harvey lived. When, yeah, right, yeah, Harvey. Yeah, Harvey. Yeah. He was also a bionic dog. He was drinking the same water. Yeah, fucking Harvey. Well, when that didn't work, David shot him.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Yeah, I told you he sucks. This is the infamous son of Sam Shit that happens. Later David would say that the neighbor Sam Car, this is like role like, what is it called? I was gonna say conflicted, that's not the word. It's complex too. It's complex too, it's all complex. So this is, so he was thinking that the neighbor Sam Car I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, by Seaman. And I had to do it. I mean, I feel like he was possessed by Seaman.
Starting point is 00:34:06 That's probably what happened. Sean, I think Seaman's top. Seaman. Oh. Seaman. So anyways. Bye. Ah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:14 So that's it. Seaman. He said that. John, is she okay? I'm broken. I'm sorry. He said that son of Sam was the son of the demon that possessed Sam car And that demon was Harvey
Starting point is 00:34:33 Doesn't he look like a demon he does He's like hey guys. What's up? Most demons are like Hey, can I have a treaty? Yeah, super psyched Hey, can I have a treat? Yeah, super psyched. Every demon that's ever come out is like, oh my God, I am so excited to meet you. So in May 1976, he drove to Florida to visit his dad in Boynton Beach.
Starting point is 00:34:58 On his way back, he veered off and went to Houston, Texas to visit an old friend from the army. His name was Billy Dan Parker. Three first names is never good. Yeah. Billy Dan Parker really doesn't mean that. I'm allowed to say that because I have three first names. She does.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Yeah. So he spent a few weeks with Billy, and then he was getting ready to drive back to New York City. So he told Billy, I feel a little, just like really dude. He was like, I feel a little nervous. I feel kind of vulnerable driving back to New York City. So he told Billy, I feel a little, it's like really dude. He was like, I feel a little nervous. I feel kind of vulnerable driving back to New York. Like homeboy, you were in the fucking career. Like really? Like in Korea during the Vietnam War. And then he was like, best friend. Will you buy me a gun? And Billy was like, of course I will. Of course I will buy you. We are best
Starting point is 00:35:41 friends. Yeah. Which like, what my best friend Debbie is here tonight. And Debbie, I love you so much. But I will never buy you a gun. If you just show up at an orn, you're like, I love you. I feel vulnerable. Will you buy me a gun? I'm going to be like, no. No.
Starting point is 00:35:58 I'll get you pretty mace. That's it. I have five friends here. And we're going to stick to like buying each other lava lamps. Yeah. Craft beer books wherever you are, Lindsay. So he did. He bought him a gun on June 12th.
Starting point is 00:36:09 They purchased a Charter Arms Bulldog 44 caliber revolver. I'm glad you said the gun for it. Well, obviously you tell the fucking story. But whenever I say like gun names, I'm like a point 44. A point 44. A point 4.22 I know nothing. It's fun and then he also bought them three boxes of ammo They purchase this at the spring branch jewelry and load pawn shop. You know the place
Starting point is 00:36:36 You've all been there. Yeah, obviously apparently this particular gun is really heavy and it's really hard to shoot Accurately in handle like it has a crazy kickback I guess. I've never shot it myself if anyone has. You know. Now it wasn't like he didn't have guns. That's the weird thing about this. He's like, can you buy me a gun? Like he didn't have one. He had guns. He made it seem like he was so vulnerable. I'm vulnerable as fuck and blah blah blah. He had a Commando Mark rifle, a Glenn Field rifle with a four by 14 telescopic sight, a charter arms AR7 Explorer shotgun, and a 12 gauge, Ithaca, Deer Slayer shotgun,
Starting point is 00:37:16 all that is apartment. I feel like you were just speaking a foreign language. I was. So this was just like the cherry on the gun cake for him. On July 28th, he ended up quitting the security guard. Just that security guard, he quit him. He quit on him. He's like, I quit you.
Starting point is 00:37:32 I just can't quit you. The security guard job. And he took one as a cab driver, which is real fucking creepy. Can you imagine finding out later that he drove the cab that you were in? No. I don't wanna think about that at all. That's wild. Yeah, nope, not into it.
Starting point is 00:37:49 And he didn't use the cab driver thing, which is weird. I would have thought he would use being a cab driver to pick people up and do awful things. That's very traceable, though. It is, I guess, I suppose. Like, Enroute. Have you seen the bone collector? That shit isn't traceable.
Starting point is 00:38:03 No, yeah. Has anyone seen the bone collector? Good fucking isn't traceable. No, yeah. Has anyone seen the bone collector? That's a good fucking movie. Call me out, 2020. He like, razored the little locks. He razored them down. So when you went to take the lock up, it would slice your finger. Never getting in a fucking way.
Starting point is 00:38:17 And it scared the shit out of me every cop that I got into. I was like, are there razor locks? So it's not a make-ter. So later, he said that demons told him as they do to get a steady job. At least they were trying to help a brother out. Yeah, get it together. Get it together bro. Let's make some money. So at first they're telling him like go out find women and murder them. Now they're like get a steady job mother fucker, like get it together. So he got a job installing air conditioning ducts because that's what the demon stole him to do apparently. When he left in the evening in search of
Starting point is 00:38:53 victims he would go down the fire escape instead of the elevator because he was trying to avoid being noticed which I'm, that bumbling human jerk off just like scooting down a fire escape. He's like, it's pretty fucking noticeable. Just take the elevation. I'm like, you see an elevator that you're like, I know what I'm real tough. And this like this little piece of information is like not important at all, but I just couldn't stop thinking of David Berkowitz being like, I'm so subtle. Like bumbling down a second fire It's falling down the fire. Like imagine looking up at a building
Starting point is 00:39:27 and you're like, what the fuck is that guy doing? What's going on? I would watch him for the rest of the night. I'd be like, where is he going? Maybe to watch this. Be high on your radar. Yeah, let's do this. So on July 28th at around 1 p.m.,
Starting point is 00:39:43 Donna Loria was sitting in her friend's car in front of her apartment in the Bronx. She was only 18 years old. She had brown hair. She was an EMT. She had like everything going for her. What we'll find out is that he was really into girls with brown hair, long brown hair. So I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:40:01 I'm good. I'm good, you're good. Yeah, I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. You're good. Yeah. I'm good. We're good. All right. And he was basically doing that because he was going for a woman who looked like his adoptive mother and like his actual mother as well. Sorry. That lady.
Starting point is 00:40:19 Yeah, that lady. Just your mind. See, all the slides. That's fine. So Donna Lauria is in her car with her friend. Her friend is 19-year-old Jody Villenti. They were just sitting, chatting, waiting to go inside. Donna's appearance arrived home.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Her father, Mike, went to the car, told Donna, you know, you shouldn't be sitting on the car for that long, let's come inside. And, you know, it's dark and dangerous, just being a good parent. And she was like, sure to add whatever. And literally, he walked into the apartment, and he said he closed the door behind him and immediately heard gunshots.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Which is like the most terrifying thing ever. I can't even imagine that. David had walked right up to the passenger side of the car out of nowhere, like out of the fucking darkness, comes thisubby feeling coming at you. He's dressed in a denim jacket like a asshole. Why isn't that like an asshole? It's just an asshole. Like I don't know. Those are trendy as fuck right now. Because do you wear a denim jacket to a murder? I don't go to murder. I wouldn't be noticed. I was trying to think of what I mean I'm not gonna try to think of what I wear to a murder,
Starting point is 00:41:26 because I'm not planning on murdering anyone. But it wouldn't be a denim jacket. I don't hate that. I don't know. Sorry. I hate it. Call you out 2020. Call you out 2020. And he gets in, like, they say that he gets in this like lay mass, like, low firing position to do it.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Like, he's like a fucking sharpshooter. Even though he's right next to the pass noosey. Like okay dude. He pulled out the bulldog revolver from my paper bag. Yeah. He used to carry the shit around a paper bag. That's weird. And I relaunched dude.
Starting point is 00:41:58 Again, like an asshole. Like an asshole. And he fired the gun five times through the window. Yikes. Then he just drove away. So he just fired the gun five times through the window. Yikes. Then he just drove away. So he just fired the gun five times, pieced out of there. Donna was hit in the neck.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Ooh. And her father ran to her side from upstairs, which hurts my soul in a way. I can't even tell you. That's so sad. Jodie was hit in the thigh. She's screaming, but she was alive and able to see David. So she gave a police,
Starting point is 00:42:26 she gave police a description of David. Donna ended up passing away that night. Jody lived. So this is his first murder. That's them. Yeah, that's them. That's Donna and that's Jody. And Jody, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:39 So on October 23rd, 1976, David headed to Queens and randomly saw two people hanging out in a red Ford galaxy, as one does. He noticed one of the women had longed our care, and he was like, yep, that's the next one. So it was 20-year-old with her. He didn't even give a shit who was with her. He just saw her and was like, well, both of you are out. So it was 20-year-old Carl Denaro and Carl was about to enter the
Starting point is 00:43:10 Air Force and was up on, he was out on a date with 18-year-old Rosemary Keenan, Rosemary's who he saw with the Long Dark Hair. Obviously. Her father was an NYPD police officer. You picked the wrong girl. Except it did not help. No. But David followed the car. So he sees them in the car. He follows the car to the corner of 33rd Avenue in 159th Street.
Starting point is 00:43:36 And when the car parked, Berkowitz pulled in his car behind them. So he's just creeping all over them, like a big fucking asshole. And David shoots through the car five times, like he did through the window, he struck Carl in the head, and Keenan was able to run screaming out of the car, so he didn't even hit the woman. And she survived.
Starting point is 00:44:00 When she saw David, when she saw that David had bailed, like ran from the scene, she ended up getting back in the car and drove Carl to the hospital, which like, whoa! Like, marry that girl. Like, holy shit, Roe's been that girl. Yeah, wife that girl up, because she survived. Yeah, he's a car, too. I watched a documentary and he's the cutest thing. I think there's pictures in the next slide of all of you.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Only the people that didn't survive. These are the people of the victims, but he survived and he got a metal plate put in his head, which is fun. So November 26, 1976, Donna Demasi, 16 years old. 16, that's so young. A baby. She was with Joanne Lomino. She was 18 years old.
Starting point is 00:44:50 They took a bus to Manhattan. They were going to see a flick. It was around midnight when they started to walk home. They saw a dark haired, ugly, mugged man following them. In a denim jacket. In a fucking denim jacket. They were like, why would you wear that? Why would you wear that? Why would you they were like, why would you wear that?
Starting point is 00:45:05 Asshole. Why would you do that? And they were like, let's just try to lose him. That's weird. And they thought they had, because they didn't see him anymore. So they hung out on Joanne's front steps, while she looked for her keys and her purse, you know, all that fun stuff.
Starting point is 00:45:18 Suddenly David shows up out of nowhere and begins firing that revolver just right at them. Like, he would go like close range, like like right up to people and just start shooting. That's terrifying. Yeah, he was fucked. Joanne's parents come running out to see the two girls shot on the front steps because they're like what the hell? A bullet had gone through an exited Damascus body. Laminos was able to move in both Dimasi and Lameena survived. So far.
Starting point is 00:45:47 So far. So far, he sucks at this. Like, a lot. I know they said he was a good aim and I'm like, but are you? I think it was the stupid gun choice. I think it was his gun choice because it was heavy. It didn't have good aim. It had like a weird kick back.
Starting point is 00:46:02 So I think he was just not choosing the gun. I don't want to give him like, well, I'm glad that he did it. Let me tell you what, you should have done, David. But no. So they survived, but Lomino was paralyzed from the waist down because of bullets severed her spine. Oh my God. Yeah, so he sucks, but like, whoa.
Starting point is 00:46:20 So shortly after midnight on January 30th, 1977, yeah, everybody was like, woo, failed a spook. 26-year-old Christine Freund from Austria and 30-year-old John Dyle left the wine gallery in Queens. They had just enjoyed a late dinner. They saw the movie Rocky. Yeah, at the Continental Theater. It was a fucking night. So they had been dating for seven years and it just got an engaged. Oh.
Starting point is 00:46:54 Uh-huh. They had just got into their car and we're sitting in it just to let it heat up. We all do that shit. Like, don't do that shit. And it was just like a minute, it was freezing outside, it's just warming the car up. Suddenly, they said, it was like glass around them,
Starting point is 00:47:10 just exploded. Christine was shot in the head and chest. People immediately called 911 that saw this happened. She was rushed to St. John's hospital and she died. It's so sad. There's Christine up there. March, yeah. March 8, 1977.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Virginia Vosk Gershin. I'm sorry if I say that name long, it's tough. I'm sorry. She tried. You won't, Naperville me, I know it. I know you won't. I paid you soon. I know.
Starting point is 00:47:41 I'm going to start like twitching. Hashtag too soon. So Virginia was a 20 year old junior at Columbia University. She was from Bulgaria. She left the Forest Hills subway station. David, yeah. Yeah. Woo, woo. All right. David was already following her, which I hate. Every time I hear like he's following them, I'm like, I know. Because I'm so paranoid when I walk, I'm like, who is that? What's going on?
Starting point is 00:48:10 Like, I'm constantly knowing something. I've seen it. It's just my head is on like a swivel wherever we are. I'm like, are you okay? Poor John, whenever we're out, I'm like, what do you think that guy's doing? What do you think he's planning? Is he gonna murder us?
Starting point is 00:48:23 I don't know. You're so paranoid. You're so proud of as fuck. I am, I'm very prepared. I have pretty mace. So he took out a gun. She instinctively put her books up in front of her face, but it went right through the books and she was shot in the head. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:48:40 That's like the purest thing ever. I know you hold up your books. It's like, oh, that makes my heart hurt. I know. And she fell into the bushes. She ended you hold up your books. It's like, oh, that makes my heart hurt. I know. And she fell into the bushes. She ended up dying later at St. John's Hospital. Now, this was the first time that the police were able to connect these guns used in this one, to the guns used in the Donna Loria murder. So finally, they're like, ah, this might be the same guy.
Starting point is 00:49:12 And again, at this time, you know, the late 70s, they had not like totally coined the term serial killer yet. That was by Robert Ressler and I think 81, mind hunter. Look at you. Look at that out. Yeah, I think it was 81 when it was like officially coined, but I'm pretty sure they've used it before, but who the fuck cares. So March 10th, 1977, NYPD Commissioner Michael Dodd held a big press conference, announced the whole thing to the city that like there's all these shootings happening. They're connected.
Starting point is 00:49:48 There's some mad man. He's probably fat and it's a he's he's coming and he's shooting up everybody wearing denim. He's wearing fucking things. He's wearing a denim jacket. It's just so people went insane like people it was like crazy panic, uncontrollable businesses were losing tons of money because people weren't going to bars anymore They weren't going to Ladiscos or anything like they people were just not wait, but do you know who was making money?
Starting point is 00:50:15 Hair stylist hair stylist for me. Everyone was like let's be blonde. It's true Blonde wigs were selling out everywhere like ashes My wife was selling everywhere. Hair South salons were dying. They were getting, every woman was getting her hair dyed blonde. So that was booming, so they're good for them. Now April 14, 1977, Operation Omega was officially formed to act as the task force to catch him, which I'm going be honest, that's the lamest fucking name I've ever heard.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Hello, we're operational mega. We're here to get son of a serum. And they didn't. They really did. They were not- We were not. They were not effective at all. So this included over 300 detectives, and it cost nearly $90,000 a day to run. A day? Yeah, shit.
Starting point is 00:51:10 It cost the taxpayers $90,000 a day to run. Only three days after the formation of Operation Omega, April 17, 1977, 20-year-old Alexander S.O. was dropping Valentina Suryani off after a late movie. It was like 3 a.m. when nothing good happens. They're on the bottom there. Yeah. The bottom, I don't know my left or my right. Yeah, so spoiler alert.
Starting point is 00:51:37 So it was 3 a.m. they were parked along the Hutchinson River Parkway. I don't know what that is, but I'm sure you guys do. It's like a lover's lane, isn't it? Sounds good to me. I don't know if it is, but I'm sure you guys do. It's like a lover's lane, isn't it? Sounds good to me. I don't know if it is anymore. You said that was, you said that was such authority. She was like, you, that's a highway. I'm pretty sure that's a lover's lane.
Starting point is 00:51:54 It's really romantic, I feel. Sorry, I'll leave. I love, bye. I just love when you say things with authority. You're like, that's a lover's lane. I never know what I'm talking about. I know it. I just love it you say things with authority. You're like, that's a lover's lane. I never know what I'm talking about. I know it. I just love it.
Starting point is 00:52:06 You're welcome. Well, suddenly, four shots are fired into their car. Both of them were hit twice each. A neighbor called police in Suriani was already dead when they arrived. S.O. was shot in the head, but survived. He ended up passing away later. This was the first time a letter was found at the scene.
Starting point is 00:52:29 And oh boy, it's a letter. It was addressed to the head. That was shit. It was stupid. It was addressed to the head of Operation Omega, Captain Joseph Burrelli. And it said, can you do it in a dumb voice? Oh, fuck All right, we didn't plan that we didn't hold on ready
Starting point is 00:52:53 Yes, I am deeply hurt by your That is perfect that's fucking gold I Am deeply hurt by you calling me a wemen hater I am not, but I am a monster. I am the son of Sam. I am a little brat. When father Sam gets drunk, he gets mean. He beats his family.
Starting point is 00:53:18 Sometimes he ties me up to the back of the house. Other times, he locks me in the garage. Sam loves to drink blood. Go out and kill, command's father Sam. Blood. You can stop now, it's hard. But no, it's fun. Okay. I didn't want you to feel under pressure. I'm in his own. I'm in his own. Behind our house some rest, mostly young, raped, slaughtered. Their blood drained, just bones now. Papa Sam keeps me locked in the attic too.
Starting point is 00:53:49 I can't get out, but I look out the attic window, and I watch the world go by. I feel like an outsider. I'm on a different wavelength than everyone else. Program to kill. This is evolving. Program to kill. However, to stop me, you must kill me.
Starting point is 00:54:05 I am the monster, Beelzebub, the Chubby Bohemus. Oh, I love to hunt. Proudling the streets, looking for fair game, tasty meat. The wemen of Queens are prettiest of all. Mr. Berleyser, I don't want to kill anyone. No, sir, no more. I must honor thy father. Do you need a breath, Holy shit? Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:29 You did the damn thing. That voice evolved over time. It was a few different people. It was a few different people. Everywhere, but you get it. So that was kind of, that did evolve into Marcheal. Oh, shit, that's what you said. I was like Margie and Estelle we're here
Starting point is 00:54:54 So worry, I feel like I still let me these pants. Oh, Estelle did you let me do those pants? So hold on let me get out of Margie and... It is so hard to get on the trucky bohemus. So over 45 psychiatrists from Belleville Hospital, Belleville, Bellevue Hospital, they analyzed this letter because they were like, what the fuck is this? You need to look at this shit. They thought he was possibly a paranoid schizophrenic. They were like, what the fuck is this? You need to look at this shit. They thought he was possibly a paranoid schizophrenic.
Starting point is 00:55:26 They were like, maybe. They profiled him as a loner who had trouble forming and keeping relationships, particularly with women. Spot on. Now I'm gonna be real, real here. I feel like my four year old could have deduced as much from even littler than that. Like I, I don't think that took a whole lot of like education
Starting point is 00:55:51 and psychiatric ability to be like, he's probably a fucking loner who hates women, I think. He's a little crazy, my dad is rocker. Like that was not groundbreaking. Maybe buy a fancier frame for that degree of yours because you really used it. Of course, shit. I'm really angry at these belt view. You also have a way about all of that. Yeah, fuck that. So of course, the
Starting point is 00:56:12 media was covering this like crazy as they do. And now David started using this to his advantage, just like Dennis did later. An investigative reporter named Jimmy Brezlin became the target of David's bullshit. So people knew Jimmy Brezlin. He was a really talented, well-known investigative reporter in New York City at the time. He was writing for the New York Daily News. In fact, in 1970, he was attacked by a member of a crime
Starting point is 00:56:43 family because he had written an article about this family and they were like, well, we didn't like that. We're going to murder you now. And in the order to hit on him at a family-owned restaurant, he survived, but he was like bloodied and concussed. So Jimmy was like used to being in the thick of this shit. So he was like, I'm not scared of this motherfucker. Well in May 30th, 1977, he got a letter.
Starting point is 00:57:07 And it was handwritten. It was received at his home, which is real creepy. That's terrifying. The postmark indicated it was mailed that same day that it was received, and it was from New Jersey. New Jersey. Yeah. Woo!
Starting point is 00:57:24 So the back of the envelope had blood and family, darkness and death, absolute depravity. 44. Written on it. It's like a spell. It's like, it really double, double, double, double. And it's like, stop trying to make 44 caliber killer happen. It's never going to happen. Don't. He's trying going to happen. Don't.
Starting point is 00:57:45 He's trying so hard to name himself. He's like, just name me. The letter inside said, oh, she's back at it. Back at it. Back at my bullseated. Hello from the gutters of New York City, which are filled with dog manure, vomit, still wine, urine, and blood. Hello from the sewers of New York City, which are filled with dog manure, vomit, still wine, urine and blood.
Starting point is 00:58:05 Hello from the sewers of New York City, which wallow up these delicacies when they are washed away by the sweeper trucks. Hello from the cracks in the sidewalks of NYC, and from the ants that dwell in these cracks and feed in the fried blood of the dead that has settled in these cracks. Jimmy Brezzlin, I'm just dropping you a line to let you know that I appreciate your interest in those recent horrendous 44 killings. I also want to let you know that I read your column daily and I find it quite informative. Thanks for noticing me. Tell me Jim,
Starting point is 00:58:38 what will you have for July 29th? Now this last line was because Donna Loria was killed a year ago at that day, July 29th. So he was referencing that, and he was referencing that he was going to do an anniversary attack. It never actually happened because he's done. Now David wrote this letter not because he was like, I'm going to be creative and I'm going to do this. He did the dentist thing and he said, you know, Jack the Ripper Row letters. So I think I should wrote letters because he's such a Jack the Ripper type.
Starting point is 00:59:11 Like, I really is like a Dennis thing to do. Yeah. Like, he was referencing the 1988 Jack the Ripper future. You remember from the 80s? You know. In White Chapel it was crazy. No, the 1888 letter, the From Hell letter that Jack the Ripper wrote, and he sent a piece of kidney with it.
Starting point is 00:59:31 At least he spared them that. Yeah, I mean, that letter was ratcheted up quite a few notches. David was just like, hey, I like your stuff, they're you're right about me. So it failed. So Jimmy Brezel was like, OK, this is weird. So he brought it to the police. They looked at the other letter that was left about being a chubby behemoth. That other one was sloppy and crazy. And this one was neat and crazy. So they were like, I don't know. He was having a good day that day.
Starting point is 01:00:00 Yeah, he was feeling it that day. So this one also had like symbols and shit on it. And it kind of looked professionally done. So the New York police department allowed the daily news to actually print part of this letter in an like upcoming article. And they told the killer in this article, they were like, please surrender. Just turn yourself in. I don't know what, he thought that was gonna work.
Starting point is 01:00:23 But like, please just stop. Cut it out. He's gonna be like, oh shit, all right. I really like your work, so I'll do it. Not that you've asked so nicely. Yeah, you know what that was nice. This just made everyone in New York City panic more because they published this letter and then we're like, please stop killing everyone. So everyone was like, ah! So they weren't exactly adept at that whole like keeping things close to the vest to avoid public panic thing that they're pretty good at now. Brezzlin was actually really worried at this point, so he sent his wife and daughter to live in Long Island until David was caught,
Starting point is 01:00:58 because he was worried at this point, which areisa Caputo. Exactly. She wasn't alive yet, but whatever. Yes. She could have been alive. It was 1977. I don't know how old she was. Oh, shit, yeah. She probably was alive. She was alive.
Starting point is 01:01:13 I digress. I digress. So June 10th, 1977, David's former landlord, Jack Casara. He got a weird note from Yonkers, and it included a photo of a German shepherd and a note saying, dear Jack, I'm sorry to hear about that fall you took from the roof of your house. Just want to say, I'm sorry, but I'm sure it won't be long until you feel much better, healthy, well, and strong. Please be careful next time. Since you're going to be confined to your house for a long time, let us know if NAN needs
Starting point is 01:01:51 anything. Sincerely, Sam and Francis Carr. So, like, this sounds like nice and normal, like, caring, right? Jack didn't fall from a fricking roof. Like, that never happened. He was like, what do you know about him? And he was caring, right? Jack didn't fall from a fricking roof like that never happened. He was like, what do you know about him? And he was like, what? No, that didn't happen. And he also didn't know anyone named Sam or Francis. So he looked them up in the phone book because that happened back then. Anybody remember phone books? The yellow pages. So he googled them
Starting point is 01:02:22 and they came up. And he called them. He called Sam and Francis. It was Sam and Francis' car, the son of Sam, Sam car. So they were like, what the fuck? We don't know. You said this letter. And they were like, no, we don't know you and we didn't send a letter. So they were like, that's weird.
Starting point is 01:02:38 So they all met up together with Jackson Steven to discuss this weird shit that was happening. When they got together, they looked at the photo, the German Shepherd photo, and the cars told Jack that their dog and their neighbor's German Shepherd had been shot. And they said they thought that it was the Chubby Bohemoth that had shot him.
Starting point is 01:03:00 Yeah, there was this weird Chubby Bohemoth living in our building, and I think he did it. Direct quote. Yeah, literally. So Sam and Francis were like there was this weird chubby behemoth living in our building and I think he did it direct quote Yeah literally so Sam and Francis were like oh shit We had a tenant that hated our dog too and they were like oh my god They actually thought they were like all right, so this is the same guy clearly So they all realized they're talking about David Berkowitz so they called the New York police department and they're like
Starting point is 01:03:26 He is the one I know I got they're like, he is the one. I know. They got your guy. They solved this case. Let's just give them credit because they were like, it's him. And the NWPD was like, we're not pushing. We're not pushing. So two months later, it was actually Nan Kassara, who's Jack's wife, who said David was likely the son of Pearl. He called them by a pd8 and he was like, this is the guy, I know it.
Starting point is 01:03:50 And they just were like, no, I don't think that's it. The officer that she talked to informed her that there was another officer that lived next door to David and he was like, that's weird. He had received like weird demon-filled letters from him, and they mentioned the cars and the casaras, but like, I don't think that's the same guy. It's unrelated.
Starting point is 01:04:14 I feel like there's probably a lot of people thinking dogs are demons, and maybe mentioning the casaras and the cars. I don't know. Like, they're like, it's New York, it's in the water. I think the cars and the casaras, yeah. The. They're like, it's New York, it's in the water. I think the cars in the car is just fuck shit up and everybody's just thinking that they're demons. So they were like, yeah, no, don't worry, but it's fine. So shit's starting to heat up at this point because no one's believing these people. And now they look, so they're
Starting point is 01:04:37 like, okay, enough people have told us this, that we'll at least look into this. So they looked into the address of where David was living and they get the car registration for him. They find his Ford Galaxy registered and his license had been suspended. I have no idea why. It's probably just because he's dumb. Too many parking tickets.
Starting point is 01:04:58 Yeah, too many parking tickets. Too much being an honestly same. Yeah, not the license suspended, the parking tickets. And not the murder or anything. And not the murder. We have nothing in common, the parking tickets. And not the murder or anything. And not the murder. We have nothing in common. Just parking tickets. That's it.
Starting point is 01:05:08 And denim. And denim. Do you like denim? Yeah. So they find out this. They get his registration. They get his address. He sees license suspended.
Starting point is 01:05:16 They have all this letters and shit. They do nothing with this information. And then two weeks later, two more people get attacked. Drop the fucking ball. So June 26th, 1977, 17-year-old Judy Placito was on a date with Sal Lupo and they were dancing at the Elefacing Queens. That sounds awesome, the Eleface, I don't know, I like it. I just was here for it. They had a blast, like they were just dancing the night
Starting point is 01:05:46 away. It was three fucking AM when they were just sitting in their car afterwards being like, whoa, the other night. Am I right? And Jody got worried. And she literally said, quote, that son of Sam is really scary. The way that guy comes out of nowhere, you never know where he'll hit next. As soon as these words left her face, the glass in the car exploded, shots ring in, Placido didn't realize it, but she had been shot three times.
Starting point is 01:06:16 My God. Cell ran back to the nightclub to get help, and she survived. Yes. Yes. Because he's a shitty shot, even though he was a good shot in the army. July 31st, 1977, 20-year-old Bobby Villalante, this is a really sad one.
Starting point is 01:06:33 This one's the saddest. This one bummed. This one's not the saddest they're all sad. Yeah, everything's sad. But this one's like just a super bummer. So Bobby Villalante was taking 20-year-old ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste-ste taking 20-year-old Stacy, I said, Stacy. Good job. I son of Sam did for a second. I was like, Stacy.
Starting point is 01:06:49 Stacy Moskowitz out for their very first date. Bobby's mom, being the smart lady she was, was like, you be careful. Son of Sam is out there. I'm worried. And Bobby legit told her, ma, don't worry, stasis blonde. And he said he was going to stay out of Queens that night too. Yeah, and he was like, he hasn't struck in Queens yet.
Starting point is 01:07:12 Like, we're good, she's blonde, we're in Queens. Like, it's not good. It's not happening. So they went to a movie, then they drove along Shore Parkway in Brooklyn. Which I think was a fucking lover's lane. It's not a highway, I know that. Authority.
Starting point is 01:07:24 Uh, and again, apparently because he had also not killed in Brooklyn, so they felt comfortable enough that they were going to take a walk through the park together. I know. I'm like, don't do that. It is. Yes. Exactly. It is. It's a blocking in parks. Don't do it. Just stay in your house. Fresh air is for the dead. It is. Stop walking in parks, don't do it. Just stay in your house. Fresh air is for the dead. It is. So everything was fine while they were walking through the park. Actually, nothing really happened.
Starting point is 01:07:52 They get back to their car, however, and immediately shots ring out through the passenger side. Bobby was shot once and actually thought he was dead or paralyzed, but he was able to crawl out of the car. Stacy had been shot once and actually thought he was dead or paralyzed, but he was able to crawl out of the car. Stacey had been shot once in the head. David walked away casually, like just was like, cool I did it by. He was such a asshole.
Starting point is 01:08:14 He was a fucking asshole. People who saw this all happen and heard this all happen ran over. Bobby survived, but he was blonde. Blind. He was blonde in his left eye. He was blind in his left eye and lost most use of his right eye too, which that sucks. Stacy died at the hospital two days later and she was the final victim. Later, Bobby said that when they were walking through the park, he looked over and saw this chubby behemoth standing in the park.
Starting point is 01:08:45 But he obviously never for one second was like, that's probably the son of Sam over there. So he was just like, I didn't think anything of it, but I definitely saw him in the park. Now, a witness told police that they saw a man take a ticket off his car in the area that night, and like, huff and puff and rip it up and then just throw it away.
Starting point is 01:09:04 So when police look back, they saw that the ticket had been issued to one David Berkowitz. They're like, we know him. They're like, shit, that name's coming up a lot. We want to lunch that day after we talked about him. Well, yeah, you know, what kills me is that they tried calling him because they were like, we need to talk to him. But not because they were like, it's weird that you're in these places and that you're writing these letters and killing dogs. They were like, oh, he might be a witness. Rolls. So they were like, okay, but they couldn't get a hold of him
Starting point is 01:09:32 because he was like, I'm not gonna answer the NYPD's police. Like, his cell phone rang and he was like, declined. Strangely enough, he sent a quick, like, away message. Like, I'm busy right now, try to get back. So during their attempts to find him to ask about the shooting as a quick, like, a way message. Like, I'm busy right now, trying to get back. So during their attempts to find him to ask about the shooting as a witness, they got in touch with Sam Carr's daughter. Now, everything I read said that Sam Carr's daughter's name
Starting point is 01:09:55 was Wheat. Me too. I thought it was wrong. I kept being like, no, that's not my way. So Wheat Carr. That's pretty cool. That's a cool name. I like it.
Starting point is 01:10:04 Yeah, bread. I don't know. I, gluten, I don't know. So, she said her father and Jack Kassara were pissed at the fact that they gave information about David that no one had followed up on. And, you know, everything weird is happening here. No one's doing anything. The detective that talked to her was detective James Justice. Yes, that's his real name. He had no other choice but to become a detective. Like if your name is James Justice, you either have to be a superhero or detective. And it's pretty much the same thing.
Starting point is 01:10:38 He was type-pasted. He really was. Like you can't be any, like, can you just sell ice creaming, like hello, I'm James Justice. They're like, why are you not doing much with that name? I'm back. So he was worried. So James Justice was like, OK, I'm listening to this.
Starting point is 01:10:53 I'm taking this, I'm absorbing it, I'm being a detective. He was worried about going over Operation Omega's heads by investigating this too far. But they weren't really doing much. But yeah, and he was like, but they're not really doing anything. Like, no one's following up on anything. So he was like, you know what, I'm just looking the databases that we have and just see what's going on.
Starting point is 01:11:28 So he saw that the description of David and the driver's license stuff, all of it matched with all the descriptions that were being given by like witnesses and all that good stuff. Then he started seeing the reports about the dogs, the letters, all that shit. So he brings it to another officer and he's like, maybe we should look into this and the other officer was like, no, no, I don't think so. He's like, I'm busy that day. And so he was like, he doesn't really look like that sketch.
Starting point is 01:11:54 So let's just forget it. And they were like, cool. So suddenly, there came reports that an arson had been committed on Pine Street, where he lives. Deputy Glassman, the one who David had written like threatening letters to when he lived underneath him, he came forward during this and he said that 22 caliber bullets were put outside of his door
Starting point is 01:12:19 and then the fire was lit there so that the bullets would eventually go off. Oh my god. It was put out luckily before that happened, but then he showed the officers the letters that he had received from David and he was like, these really look like the letters that Jack Casar got. So a side note about this, Craig Glassman died in a car accident in 1991, bummer, but he had told every family member and all of his friends
Starting point is 01:12:47 that he knew that David was the son of Pearl. I love that we're not saying so. Yeah, I almost said Sam, but I was like, fuck that guy. That he was the son of Pearl. So damn it. And the police ignored it. So he died without ever knowing that like he made a difference in this thing. And that's a real bummer. Yeah, but don't worry, it comes back. So, so at this time after the arson, Sam car went to police headquarters and was like, listen, why the fuck aren't you doing anything with all of this information that everyone's giving you? And why is Operation Omega not only the stupidest named shit I've ever heard, but why are they not doing anything?
Starting point is 01:13:28 Like, what are you doing? So they were like, yeah, I don't know, go away. So now it seems like somebody in the police department was like, maybe we should check into this. So now officers go to 35 Pine Street, whereas the department is. They see his Ford Galaxy, They're like there it is Those are like popular, huh? They were yeah a couple people had them in all the cars. Sounds red
Starting point is 01:13:53 So without a warrant they look in the back seat and they see an army bag with clothing underwear gross a tooth brush and a rifle so the basics where, gross, a toothbrush and a rifle, so the basics. Officer Ed Ziko looks into the glove compartment and finds a letter, of course. And the letter is written to the Suffolk County Police Department. I don't have the exact words of this letter, so I can't tell you what it's it.
Starting point is 01:14:19 But it basically was saying that he was going to be committing an attack in the Hamptons at some random disco, which is fucked up, let the people party, let the people in the Hamptons party. So he was like, oh no, so that's enough to get a search warrant when he's like, I'm going to kill people in Hamptons at a disco period. So they were like, we can get a search warrant now. So they got one and a crowd is gathering because they're like, what can get a search warrant now. So they got one and a crowd is gathering because they're like, what are these people doing over here?
Starting point is 01:14:47 So the officer is actually asked somebody in the crowd to park in front of David's car to block him in. And so that happened. A SWAT team surrounded the apartment and then somebody walks out of the apartment. And that person is Craig Glassman. And they all attacked him. And he was like, ah!
Starting point is 01:15:08 But something they were like, no, no, no, reset, reset. So they reset. I'm back in formation. Get back in formation. Super smooth operation. Because he was like, no, I'll just go over here. Hold on. And so at 10.30 p.m. on August 10th, 19th,
Starting point is 01:15:23 I feel like I'm spitting so much. I don't know if you can all see this. And anyone should address it. I can't help it. I keep it like, blah blah. It's just like, the lights are making it spit. So it's fine. So at 10.30 p.m. on August 10th, 1977, they watched and David just sontered out of his apartment.
Starting point is 01:15:45 He was wearing a button-up blue striped number. I think there's a picture of him. There he is. That dumbass. Skip to the denim that day. Yeah, he did. He just wanted a blue number. Took a lane-spathing advice.
Starting point is 01:15:56 He did. He was like, oh, nope. So he was carrying a brown paper bag. Not lunch. Nope. So he gets in his car, he starts up his engine, and Detective John Follateco, excuse me, just walks up to the car, taps on the window,
Starting point is 01:16:16 like, dirt, dirt, and he has his gun drawn, and he's like, hey, what's up? And David looks up at him and just says, quote, you got me, how come it took you so long? That's like some Scooby Doo type shit. And while I agree with that sentiment, because holy shit, it took them a long time to get him, he's still a raging twat.
Starting point is 01:16:44 Twat waffle. Twat waffle. So he was brought to the police headquarters on center street and the mayor at the time, Mayor Abe Beam, came and he walked right up to David and thought he was a detective so he was like hey brother and just like what are they doing back there? And they were like, no. So that was a big snafu. I just think that's funny. It has nothing to do with the story, but it was funny. So at 1 a.m., the mayor spoke to the media and said, we have caught the son of, the son of Pearl.
Starting point is 01:17:17 Yeah. David. When they showed a photo of him on the news, people were like, yeah, that's him. That's him. That's him? Like what? Because he's just like, meh. And they're like, wow, that sucks.
Starting point is 01:17:34 So it really does look like he's making that noise. Meh. This is always just groaning. You probably breathe heavy from those fish lips. No, that's gross. Sorry, I'm taking you with me down here. You're painting a picture. I'm making this dark.
Starting point is 01:17:53 So this is kind of funny. The first detective who spoke with him said that he was like, quote, talking to a head of cabbage. So accurate. Like, yeah, I got that. I got it. Like 100% that is a head of cabbage. He's like, he's like, it gave me gas. It was awful. And so he initially said, I went in there to talk to him and I was like, raging. I was pissed off. I was like, this is an evil motherfucker. And he's like, I came out of here being like, wow, he's real pathetic and I kind of feel bad for him. He said, David sat down, told him the details of every single attack, very calmly.
Starting point is 01:18:34 He was just like, yep, let's talk about it. Which if you'll remember, Dennis Reader did the same fucking thing. I feel like Dennis Reader was just like, wanted to be son of Sam. They're distant constant. They're distant customers. Dennis and David. So on August 11th he was charged with second-degree murder for Stacey Mosquets. A psych of L was ordered because he was talking about dogs and demons and shit. So those letters. Yeah, they were like, OK, we should look at you. Now, photos at this time were released of his apartment. And wow.
Starting point is 01:19:11 And by the way, it still stands. Now it is 42 Pine Street. So if you want to go, be like, whoa, that's crazy. It was a studio apartment. He had a scrapbook that he kept of all his crimes, because that's normal and okay. And it was like newspaper clippings, all the articles written about him, he just like loved reading about himself. There was a dirty old mattress on the fucking floor. Why is there always a dirty old mattress on the floor?
Starting point is 01:19:38 There was like one bulb just hanging from it. I bet it was swinging and like making... Yeah, yeah, see I saw that swinging, it was swinging and like making, yeah. Yeah, see I saw that swing. It was swinging, it was definitely swinging. And I feel like it was like doing that like, I feel that, I don't have any fact of that, but I feel like it. And then there was dirty sheets covering all the windows.
Starting point is 01:20:01 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he just like filled his house with just dirt and filth and nasty mess. Yeah, and they said there was like empty cartons of fucking milk just. Ew, okay. They probably smelled fucking rancid in there. One hundred percent.
Starting point is 01:20:17 He is ahead of cabbage. Like that is for sure. And then there were several holes in the wall. Hide holes. Exactly. Wow, we are like connecting this to Dennis in so many ways. He had hide holes too.
Starting point is 01:20:35 But he would write things next to these holes. Things like, my name is Mr. Williams, and I live in this hole. And I have several children that I'm turning into killers. Just wait till they grow up. Like, okay. Yeah. So I don't know. That's just what was going on down there. And they were like, that's probably fine. You know a band wrote a song and those are like the part of the lyrics.
Starting point is 01:21:00 And their name is morbid death. Hell yeah. Morbid. Hell yeah. Morbid. Hell yeah. Morbid. So media coverage was crazy. And there was all this hoopla that people are like you're transforming them into a celebrity. You know, that happens every time.
Starting point is 01:21:15 But it's like human nature. Like we don't want to know about these things. It's like a fine line here. But at that point, they were like, we're really turning them into a celebrity and he likes it. Like he clearly liked it. He would grin at cameras like he did in that fucking back seat. And, but out of this, they did spur into existence the son of Sam Laws. These laws made it so that the state of New York could not take money from criminals that earned them from like deals and shit for five years. So the
Starting point is 01:21:46 money that was seized by the state had to go to the victims, which, yippee. Yeah, that's perfect. Yeah. So that's good. So no trial happened because he confessed and he was like, I don't want to go through a trial. It's over, it happened, man. It was the demons. Which it's like, okay, I'm sure the victims would love for this to be over. Yeah. So he didn't go on trial. June 10th 1978, it was his sentencing. And Stacey Moscaw, which is, which is, look, ah, Stacey, Moscaw, Whits is, there we go. Mother Nisa was there.
Starting point is 01:22:27 So she stood up and screamed at him in court, which like, yeah, bitch. I would do the same thing. I always think that I'm like, I always want the guards to just like hesitate when a family member will like a lunge at a murder. I'm like, just take a beat. Just get one in.
Starting point is 01:22:46 That's all. Then you can do your job and moral and all that. But just one. Just let them get one. So she screamed and yelled at him in court. He loved it. He was grinning. He's a fucking asshole.
Starting point is 01:23:00 Did he call Stacy a name? Oh yeah. He kept saying, as she's yelling, crying, sobbing behind him, the mother of the girl that he killed, he's sitting there saying, Stacey's a whore. Yeah, this guy sucks. And he would say he wasn't yelling it, he was just going Stacey's a whore, Stacey's a whore. And he kept saying it loud enough so people could hear him. But so he was like mame mame What an asshole. Yeah, so he's an asshole.
Starting point is 01:23:28 So then he's doing this. He's like easy little or something and then he just goes and just runs towards the window. Like Adam no question. Everybody was like what? And he knocked over like 10 guards on the way. Oh my god. This fucker had like superhuman strength, which sucks. So they stopped him, but the sentencing was delayed
Starting point is 01:23:50 because they were like, well, this is a crazy day. So on June 12th, he was resentenced again for six consecutive life sentences. Oh yeah. Yes. Now, I bet you're wondering what he's like in prison. Well, he was a pain in the ass. He tormented.
Starting point is 01:24:10 Sorry. Oh my God, I'm really sorry. It's okay, you go girl. There he is. There's that fucker. So. Isn't that so stupid? He's like, I am hopeful.
Starting point is 01:24:21 And look at him, he's like, that's a dumbass mustache too. That is a dumbass mustache. Fuck that mustache. And now he's like, I'm the son of hope. I've transformed myself. Like you can fuck right off, sir. So he was a pain in the ass. When he first went into prison, he tormented other inmates.
Starting point is 01:24:45 And he was just a huge problem for the guards. And then he got attacked by another inmate. He was gonna say, he got his. Yeah. On July 10th, 1979, this inmate used us, a homemade, a handmade, a homemade inmate. A prison made, a handmade shank to slice open David's neck. I know. And he got 56 stitches. So he like did a good job. Yeah. He has like an early scar, which is good. Which like yeah. This fuck off. So he had all kinds of reasons for his bullshit when people
Starting point is 01:25:21 would talk to him, you know, like Satan, cult dogs. He said at one point, at one point, he said that the song Rich Girl by Holland Oats inspired him to kill. All I can think of is that Gwen Stefani's song. I do need to. If I was a rich girl. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, but that's not the song.
Starting point is 01:25:40 That's not the song. I was like, why would that be if you want to murder? It's even worse. Like Holland Oats inspired me to kill. Why? OK. OK. Cool.
Starting point is 01:25:50 Then, after all that shit, he landed on the, no, it was the dog possessed by Satan. That told me to kill him. So FBI agent Robert Rezler. Who? Yeah. I think that's who Jonathan Graf is supposed to play in my Hunter, John McGrath. Woo-hoo!
Starting point is 01:26:06 Uh, it doesn't suck that that's like indefinitely on hold for a third reason. Right? It's not fair. It's indefinitely on hold for a third season. What the fuck, Netflix? I know. I volunteer as tribute to direct the next season of Mind Tonson. I'll just come and hang out with you.
Starting point is 01:26:27 Someone give me funding and I will do it. So yeah, so he coined the serial collot term. He believed that David was just faking all this insanity bullshit. He met with him three times as shown on Mind Hunter. And he told, so David told Resler, I invented the story of the demons in possession. Because I needed, yeah, like I needed an insanity defense. He was just gearing up for it.
Starting point is 01:26:54 So he told him, he just hated women because he was rejected by his mother and girls didn't want to sleep with him. He's like, I hate women because I'm ugly. It's my fault. I hate. Because I'm chubby. Because I'm a chubby behemoth.
Starting point is 01:27:06 And I wear denim. I wear a really darkening on that. Yeah, I see. I got you fired up about the denim. I have a list about it. So he also told him that he was, he had been planning to go to the funerals of the victims. That's so fucked.
Starting point is 01:27:21 Yeah. Which is like, you're not insane. You're planning this shit. But he couldn't find where the funerals were and he was also worried because he's so fucked. Yeah. Which is like, you're not insane. You're planning this shit. But he couldn't find where the funeral's were. And he was also worried, because he's fucking idiot. He's like, a good fun. And MapQuest wasn't working yet. They're at a graveyard, dumbass.
Starting point is 01:27:35 But he was also scared that people were going to see him and that it was going to like, he was like, I don't want to get caught yet. So he didn't go. But he said he tried to find their gravestones. Ew. Ew. You'll have him to do that. It's very you.
Starting point is 01:27:47 And he also hung around diners and places that police hung out because he liked to listen to police talk about him. Like what a narcissist. Yeah, like gross. Get a hobby. He also would go back to the scenes of the murders and assaults and he would relive them again. He literally said that the blood-stained concrete and chalk outlines got him going. Like sparky big times.
Starting point is 01:28:15 Yes. Guys, we are one tonight. We're not a wavelength right now. I feel it. So yeah, so that's gross. And he literally said that the psychiatrist, he said when psychiatrist came to him, all he had to do was slip demons in Sam Carr
Starting point is 01:28:32 into the conversation and they would be like, oh my God, you're crazy. I'm sorry. Like he knew, he was like, if I just say diamonds and dogs and Sam you say, I'm a diamond. If he was like, if I just sail this shit, they're eating out of you say, I thought, a diamond. If I just say all this shit, they're eating out of my hands, they think I'm crazy. Like, it works.
Starting point is 01:28:50 So he knew, so fuck that guy. Some people are like, I think he was mentally ill. And I'm like, no, I think he was just a dick. He admitted it. He's like, no, I'm good. I just hate women. So psychiatrist, Dr. David Abramson, he didn't believe his bullshit either, and he's a pretty well-known psychiatrist. He said he invented it, so they each wrote each
Starting point is 01:29:12 other letters because he was like, I want to get into his mind, I really want to see if he's crazy, I want to see if this is real. And after they talked, he stood by the fact that he was like, he's a bullshit. He said, sure, he's troubled for sure. And he said like a crazy life, he had some head injuries that could have like fucked with was like, he's a bullshit. He said, sure, he's troubled for sure. And he said like a crazy life. He had some head injuries that could have like fucked with him. But he's not insane. He's just a bad person who can't handle rejection. That's all he is.
Starting point is 01:29:35 He also told him that he was killing the image of, so this is what David told the psychiatrist. He said, I'm killing the image of my whore birth mother who conceived me with a married man, which it's like, okay, there it is. Like, he's not crazy. He's just telling you exactly what he's doing. I feel like maybe calm down, dude.
Starting point is 01:29:56 Yeah, like chill. Just like find a therapist, work it out there. Yeah. You don't know their life. Yeah. Like fuck. Now, a ton of people thought he was actually part of a murderous satanic cult of people.
Starting point is 01:30:09 Like it was multiple people doing this. And it got so create like this whole conspiracy theory, actually like kind of like caught on fire a little bit. And they reopened the case in 1996 when this one was born. Oh yeah. Me. Me.
Starting point is 01:30:25 It's not. But they closed it again because there was just no evidence of this, but like they got them going. So he maintains that cult killing thing. And in a 1993 interview with Inside Edition, because again, he's a fame hoe. He's like all about it. He said, quote, the killings were another sacrifice
Starting point is 01:30:46 to our gods, bunch of scumbags they were. We made it, oh wait, I'm not doing the name. We they'd have packed. Maybe with the devil, but also with each other. We were going to go all the way with this thing. We were soldiers of Satan now. Shut up. Now shut up.
Starting point is 01:31:03 Like fuck off. And the inside of the distance, like, shut up. Shut up. Shut up. I'm like, fuck off. And the inside of the distance, like, okay, bro. So, yeah, so he's like, we're soldiers of Satan. That's what's happening. Weirdly, John Carr, who was Sam Carr's other son, was found dead at an Air Force base in South Dakota, like three to six months after David was arrested.
Starting point is 01:31:24 They initially thought it was a suicide, but then authorities looked into it, and they were like, I'm pretty sure it was a homicide. Then Michael Carr, the other son, died in a car accident where he crashed into a pole, no other cars. And his blood alcohol level was like sky high, and everyone who knew him was like, he doesn't drink.
Starting point is 01:31:44 So that's weird. So David was like, he doesn't drink. So that's weird. So David was like, the cult did it. So he maintains, he's like, no, the cult's still out there and they're killing people. Like, homey, there's no cult. Nobody wanted to hang out with you. And no one, no one did. You're a loner.
Starting point is 01:31:57 Yeah, deal with it. Jimmy Brezzlin, after David was arrested, so the investigative reporter that got like the creepy letter for him, he got a Christmas card from David, in prison, who said, quote, marry Christmas from the devil. Like, take a nap, take a walk, go home, buy.
Starting point is 01:32:17 It's so heavy, man. Get on with your life, man. First, you're like working for a demon, then you're working for the devil. Now you are the devil, like holy shit. He's like the devil's secretary. Yeah. You mail out my Christmas cards.
Starting point is 01:32:30 mail out my Christmas cards, bro. Now, as you can see, he found religion in prison because it's very convenient to find it in prison when you have nothing else to do and when you need sympathy. So now he's doing the whole like, you know, that son of hope, son of hope, inspiring truly. And that's the story of David Berkowitz son, a pearl.
Starting point is 01:32:58 But wait, there's more. We have gifts for you. We do. Should we stand? We have gifts for three of you. Not all of you. So we should stand because I'm not going to be like this. Raise your hand if you would like a gift. Oh, okay. You throw her. I play topball that I sucked. Do that. I'm a really bad thrower. Look at you.
Starting point is 01:33:34 I'm trying to get away with it. Yes. All right. All right. So thank you so much for being here, guys. This was awesome. You guys are the best. I can't believe that I get to say thank you New York.
