Nerd Poker - Episode 19 - Guardians of the Cloak
Episode Date: June 20, 2018As the underground trials continue and a Twee of increasingly ambiguous morals lights a cigarette, our crew meets the three trials of the cloak head on. Clearly this artifact was never meant to me unc...overed by the foolhardy, or people who hate riddles. Hopefully everyone will make a patience saving throw against that goddamned riddle from last episode!

Post Lame
good response good response
episode 18 left you guys at a weird riddle.
You guys are deep beneath the earth.
You made a spiritual sacrifice to banish a bunch of spiders.
You're trying to get Zinzerina's cloak before the bad guys do.
What you're going to do with it, I'm not even sure is your dungeon master,
what you're going to do with it,
but you know the artifact has been desperately hidden
with lots of
traps and tricks, and
you are now deep, deep, deep
in the pit of the second sky
confronting the first of what may
be three guardians. Unless you
think that crystal spider is a guardian.
It's up to you guys if that's
what you think happened. We thought it was
at first, and now I think it's this
spider drow. Correct. A drider. You have encountered a drider, which is was at first, and now we think it's this spider drow.
Correct, a drider.
You have encountered a drider, which is half drow, half spider.
And he's an old spider drow.
They really spent a lot of time coming up with this compound word, drider.
And so his name is Belson.
He introduced himself to you guys and said,
tell me, in what place does a confession transform from
mere words into a living thing?
He's very old. He's in a simple robe.
You know
these guys are usually bad, but he did tell you
he's... Does he sound like Adam West when he says it?
Or does he sound like Steve Harvey?
Trying to think if I know how to even do a slight Adam West Harvey. Top trances on the board.
If I know how to even do a slight Adam West impression.
You leave her alone, Joker.
You're pretty good.
Tell me, in what place does a confession transform from mere words into a living thing?
Nope.
Ken's is better.
Yeah, it's better.
It's a woman.
Is the boy going to step out now?
You just confessed, right? Maybe that little kid's going to step out now? You just confessed, right?
Maybe that little kid's going to step out.
Is this a riddle? Is he asking us a riddle?
He's for sure asking you a riddle.
And he said he's doomed, so that's why maybe you aren't
immediately attacking him.
He did tell you he was doomed.
Is he like a djinn?
Perhaps.
What were you saying?
I was going to guess, like a Jeopardy question. I don't know.
Okay.
Yeah, say it one more time.
Tell me.
In what place?
Where does a confession become?
In what place?
In what place does it transform from mere words into a living thing?
Guys, I'm going to put my hand over the microphone and look at you guys and go,
The mouth?
phone and look at you guys and go, the mouth?
He looks at you and he says, you are the first adventurers to find me.
And that is your first attempt at answering the question.
And he takes his two drow arms.
He reaches back and he violently rips out one of his spider legs and starts to lurch to the side. And he throws
the dark, crumpled
carapace to the ground.
And he says, in what place
does a confession transform
from mere words into
a living thing?
Seven more guesses.
And then
what happens?
He has no legs I wonder if
this is about us or him
you're talking about me or are you saying I need therapy
it's possible
can we get a lifeline
he looks at you and says
I don't watch TV
how'd you know that was a TV reference then?
Oh man, he's wearing a digital watch.
He's got a short circuit.
The DM's breaking the fourth wall here.
Let's see.
Everything I said is true. The last thing I said was a lie.
Typha doesn't know.
Yeah, maybe my character is smarter than I am.
Gago.
Oh, yeah.
Gago rolled a one.
So he shoves his way to the front and says,
how about you suck my dick?
Oh, man.
And the drider reaches back, grabs another leg on his left side.
No, that wasn't our answer.
Yanks it out.
No, that wasn't our answer.
And says, in what place does a confession transform from mere words into a living thing?
He said, I'm just trying to help you slow-ass butchers out.
In a church.
You say, in a church?
How does that work?
He reaches back, pulls out all but his last leg on the left side
Can we talk about it?
A spurt of dark black blood
Drips from the hole
And he throws it to the ground
In what place does a confession
Transform from mere words into a living thing?
Can we roll to get a hint?
Like our characters may be smarter than we are
Yeah, to research
Tell me Perception Tell me Couldn't we do a perception roll? role to get a hint? Like our characters may be smarter than we are? Yeah, to research or check more
perception.
Couldn't we do a perception roll?
Yes, everybody do.
Or lore, if it's in some
sort of... Yeah, hang on. If it's been written in some
sort of books, this answer.
I'm going to say this is...
Bennett Cerf maybe wrote something.
Somebody's phone going up. Yeah, we're hearing
phone bubbles. Blaine says, no, it's not my phone as he picks up his phone.
Who knows?
It's not mine.
It might be my CB radio over, good buddy.
Everybody do an Arcana check.
Thanks a lot.
Oh, my Arcana is...
Arcana check, difficulty 20.
Arcana.
Yes, all right.
I have a plus five, but I rolled a four.
That's a no.
What'd you get?
11.
That's a no.
I have a plus four, but I rolled a four.
That's a no.
I didn't do anything for once.
Look.
It's up.
Crazy.
What are you doing?
Fucking ghost.
Look, it's off.
There's fucking ghosts.
Cool.
Me and Ken did this thing where we put our phones in the other room.
Oh my god. Okay, that was weird as shit. Me and Ken did this thing where we put our phones in the other room.
Okay, that was weird as shit.
This is the most haunted house I've ever been in.
All right, we can talk about that another time.
Because it is haunted, right?
Yeah, but let's continue with it.
I'm ready.
I'm ready to go toe-to-toe with this fucking ghost.
I know. I have no fear.
Okay.
He's not as scary.
He's a good guy.
You two have...
Did you get a no, Sarah?
Yeah, yes, I did.
Okay.
Roll your arcana.
Check difficulty 20.
You need a 20.
You have no bonus, Bodhi.
All right, so...
Nope.
That was a high roll, though.
It was.
It was very good.
Did everyone get a no?
Yeah.
All right, so no clues.
Shit.
In what place?
Can we try again?
Does a confession...
You sure can.
He's got...
In what place does a confession do what?
He's got five legs left.
Transform, right?
Mm-hmm.
From mere words?
Into a living thing.
Into a living thing.
At the OJ trial.
Not a guess.
A confession transformed from mere words into a living thing.
Confession becomes a conviction.
Oh, Typha didn't do an Arcanagent.
Confession becomes a...
Admission. Nah, she doesn't know honey I'm pregnant no one
has ever rolled a lower arcana check then gago just man usually not terrible
at these,
but this one doesn't even seem to have any. It might be that the writer of this riddle is terrible at it,
but I can't even get my...
Is it maybe at a wedding?
Because you confess your love and it becomes a union, a marriage?
You profess your love.
Yeah, you don't confess.
I mean, confession, that's the thing.
You confess your love in front of everybody.
Confession is a very specific weird word.
Transform is a specific weird word.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Where do you confess it?
And also, I'm looking at the letters.
I'm like, is it transforming the letters in mere words to a living thing?
Does your character write this down, or are you writing this down?
My character writes it down?
It does? It does?
She does?
She does, yes.
You notice when you write it down,
Belson watches you very carefully.
Okay. Okay.
Well, maybe
when it's written?
Is that an answer?
When it is written? Is that an answer? When it is written?
He looks at you very carefully
as he reaches back for his last leg.
I thought we were going to talk about it before we...
But he does look at you.
He looks at you with intent.
I see.
So we're close.
He pulls the leg out and flops to the side.
And he kind of rights his spine
as he realizes his only right
legs are left jesus concession
i mean what into a living like what are things that we that you would say are a living thing
everything living no i mean like what that isn't a living thing? Everything? Living?
No, I mean,
like, what that isn't a living thing
would we describe
as a living thing?
Do you know what I mean?
Like, that's how riddles work.
I wish I had done more riddles.
I enjoy not talking as much.
Well, I'm sure
this is going to be
boring as hell
for everyone to listen to.
They either know it
and they're getting so annoyed
or they don't know it
and they're just sitting there like,
cool, I don't want to listen
to you guys think.
You fucking idiots.
Yeah.
It's a living thing was
I've wanted to do a riddle
on this podcast
for a year
transform
read it again
from mere words
he says
tell me
in what place
does a confession
transform
from mere words
into a living thing
from mere words
a courthouse
in a church
in a
is it a womb?
Belson stares at Bodhi
okay what
can I try my arcana?
Bowie roll a perception roll
of what the stare means
yes
I don't even know if that makes sense
it does
16 plus
do I have something to add to that
plus 3 you get a 19
you feel like you're on to something
I think I'm on to something when I said
when it becomes a written word he looked at me like I'm on to something. I think I'm on to something when I said when it becomes a written word.
Yeah.
He looked at me like I'm on to something.
I mean, that's why I was saying what do we think of as a living thing?
But that's why, I mean, like history is alive or whatever.
Like that.
I was trying to get something to that.
When it's a book, when it's a tome, when it's a...
When I confess my seed into a woman.
Oh my God.
He didn't say that out loud. That doesn't count.
Now I regret the riddle now.
This is the exact point I regret.
I get that feeling I just had too much dairy.
Say the whole thing one more time.
When I confess my...
Not you.
When I confess my... Not you. When I confess
into a sock.
In what place does a confession
transform from mere words into a
living thing?
It's sea monkeys.
What place?
What place does a confession transform?
So it's not written word.
Written word isn't a place.
It's a human mind.
A library.
Hospital.
You already guessed a church.
Yeah, it's not a church.
Barnes and Noble.
He starts to look away from you.
Library.
He's no longer looking at you.
Oh, wow.
Confession. When you write your confession down,
where do you write a confession?
The fortune cookie factory?
Is
the only thing he says
this riddle?
He stares at you.
Is there...
He said his name, Belson.
My name is Belson, and I am doomed.
I'm telling you something from the...
Why are you doomed?
What are you going to do when you pull all your legs out?
I have been caught.
I have failed my master,
and I am now bound to this place.
Should we go to the other rooms and see if there's answers there?
Like an easier riddle to do them in
reverse order? There might be clues to them. Maybe one of the
other rooms is a place where a confession turns into
a thing.
Turns into a living thing.
What about another Arcana check or
um, fuck man.
Is it the
Is it the, is it the altar
that, that uh
I was thinking about that too.
That's why I was thinking if you confess what you did
and the boy came back or whatever.
Oh, you mean the altar.
Oh, okay.
I thought you meant like where you confess.
Hey, how many legs do you have left?
Four?
Yeah, and I'll say you guys have said a lot of guesses
but not tried to make it a guess.
Like you've talked amongst yourselves.
Right, right, right.
And you haven't nominated anything to his face.
But you've made a lot of guesses.
You just haven't settled on any of them.
You haven't spent any of them.
Right.
Is it the Chamber of Forgiveness?
Do you say that to him?
Are you saying it to him?
Should I say it to him? Are you saying it to him? Should I say it to him?
He's waiting for eye contact.
Nothing became a living thing in the chamber for goodness.
No.
That's not right.
I mean.
Wow.
Once I've written it out, can I now look at the thing
and try to roll again to see, like, now that I'm seeing it written, use my scholar skills to, like, really, like, trying to work on the word.
You're pushing for a new roll, I feel.
Yeah, rolls are great.
Roll, do a wisdom check, difficulty 20.
You, I believe, have a plus zero to wisdom.
I'm not very wise.
Fuck.
What'd you roll?
Oh, is it like a 19?
No, it was a one.
Oh, yeah, you just don't...
You stare at what you've written.
Yes.
So you stare at what she wrote.
Uh-huh.
And you feel like...
I got a 20, by the way.
You feel like she's onto something.
Oh.
You feel like...
You're onto something.
You feel like...
By writing it down.
You may have even said something very close to it.
Like the page.
Yeah, you're onto something.
No, in what place does a confession transform from mere words into
Well, I said on the written page, didn't I?
That's what I said to him.
So that was already a guess.
Did we, in writing? Yeah.
That was his guess. And you feel like
you were onto something. Yeah, I was close to that.
And that's why we're doing library.
And when you looked at what she wrote down,
you feel like she is also onto something.
Okay.
And when you looked at what she wrote down, you feel like she is also onto something.
Okay.
Sam is biting his nails.
He knows. Do you know this?
I don't know.
Roll to ask the engineer.
His nails are delicious.
Where would you write a confession?
In prison?
In court?
At the scene of a crime, at your suicide.
Diary?
Diary.
In a diary.
Did you say that to him?
Yeah.
Oh, shit.
No.
He's got three more legs.
He looks at you.
And reaches back.
Sucks his own dick.
He folds his arms.
And he bows his head.
Holy shit.
And he crumbles to dust.
Yay!
Leaving only a robe.
Wait, can someone explain that riddle to me? How does a diary of living...
How does it transform mere words into a living thing?
Well, because then it exists.
Then it exists? Well, if it's once it's... But the written page is a living thing. Well, because then it exists. Then it exists?
Well, if it's once it's...
But the written page is the same thing.
You can't make it specifically a diary.
Look what he wrote down.
A journal.
But neither of those are living things.
The engineer wrote down journal.
How about a live journal?
That's a living thing.
He may have written a live journal.
Dan didn't write this. Dan, you didn't write this, Riddle, did you? That's a living thing. He may have written a live journal. Dan didn't write this.
Dan, you didn't write this, Riddle, did you?
Yeah, he clearly did.
He said that whoever wrote it might have fucked up.
Oh, I thought he was blaming somebody else.
No, he's self-deprecating.
Dan never blames anybody.
If Dan was in a car accident that was clearly the other person's fault,
he would be like, I am so sorry.
Even though it's not a living thing, it was an attainable answer.
Some people refer to things that are written and alive or a living document or a story that becomes alive.
That's what I was saying.
But I forget because we were on the right track.
We had, yeah.
Yes.
Journal, diary.
A will.
A will.
A living will.
Yes.
I feel I only gave you enough clues that your rolls required.
I think that went well.
Okay, now one down, two more to go.
So who's, let's just throw.
Can we just ask him three more questions?
Everybody do a perception check.
It was that last tug on my vape pen that did it for me.
I hope that was fun to listen to, everybody.
It was.
I rolled a 28 on perception.
A 28?
I can't believe I got a 28.
Tom, you see there's something inside this robe.
One of his belongings seems to be.
I'm going to go look at it.
It's Blaine's acid wand.
Oh.
There's a diary.
Oh, interesting.
There's a book with handwritten pages and a handwritten message on the cover.
Are you there, God?
It's me, Margaret.
Just don't read this, you asshole.
Can I read it?
What does it say on the cover?
No Big Brothers.
Do an Arcana check difficulty 20.
Nine.
Nope.
Anyone else want to figure this out?
Of course.
Arcana check difficulty 20.
I'll stoop with.
I'll stoop with you guys.
16.
Brian got
hit in the balls with an Arcana check.
I have 17 with a plus 5 Arcana.
So. Tweet.
You stare
at this book. Brian's like
I'm not going to even do this.
You realize
this is a very, very, very
old book. The oldest book you have ever
held in your hands.
It is centuries old.
And you're worried that if too many...
Older than Catcher in the Rye.
Older than J.D. Salinger's
corpse. And you
worry too much.
Too much handling
of this book will make it fall apart
you are not sure what the
scratches inside it the scratches look vaguely
drow but they're almost too animalistic
to understand they're almost
just look like just chicken scratch
it's very confusing it almost looks like a
language in and of itself
you believe
based on what you understand
about this place,
that this book may have belonged to Zinzerina at one point.
That it is basically illegible.
I'm going to look up tongues.
I have a spell called tongues.
I will say from that Arcana check,
you don't think tongues is going to help you.
Yeah, so were we thinking that the book will help us find the cloak?
This book is so old, it almost seems from a time before language.
Was that her cloak that just fell?
Is that the cloak?
You don't think.
It looks like a very unmagical robe.
I think we need to unlock all three of these to free up the cloak. That may be
the case. So is there anything else in this
room? No. Why don't we
put this in an evidence bag
and go down to the next.
And the first blush, there's
nothing in here. Well, let's look.
Search for traps. Give it a second blush.
Anything interesting about the robe?
Did somebody ask that already? I already did, but he
said not really.
It's just a normal robe and not a cloak.
I mean, you can roll to check.
I'll check.
Perception difficulty 10.
All right.
There, I got it.
I'm going to investigate the room a little better.
Okay.
What did I perceive about this robe?
Well, he already rolled a success.
I mean, you realize, Tom, that...
Well, he's looking at the robe. I was seeing the robe. Tom that He's looking at the robe
You look at the robe and it seems like a non-magical robe
An old old
Non-magical robe
You want to look at the robe
Sweet
17
You feel like there is some sort of
Magical barrier spell perhaps to
Contain The Dryden but you
don't sense there are any buttons or hidden traps in the room all right should we go to number two
sure yeah let's uh we have those ropes can we or blaine you want to levitate me or or
yeah let's see the same thing okay like just lower ourselves down again. Who's carrying the diary?
We're going up.
Twee, I think.
We're going up, right? Are you taking the diary, Twee?
We went to the bottom.
We were at the third one, right?
You're at the top one.
Yeah.
There's two more underneath you.
We're at the first one, I think.
Yeah, you're at the first one at the top.
You have to descend lower to go.
The other two were closed.
Oh, I thought the top two were closed, the way Gago said it to us.
No, Gago misdescribed it perhaps okay that is certainly
not what i meant okay cool you good let's go to the second uh slightly to the left there is a
another doorway that has opened up uh you realize as you head down uh but behind it is another very
small door it's a big little six inches tall and it about six inches tall, and it is open.
You can't quite see inside it because it's just so small.
Is there a keyboard I can play?
Hmm?
No.
Do you bring everyone else down, Tweet?
Is there enough room for everybody? Yeah, but it's the same sort of deal where you all barely fit.
Okay.
So everyone's lowered down.
Somebody, will a torch light?
How big's Gago? Will Gago fit in there? light? How big's Gago?
Will Gago fit in there?
Yeah, how big's Gago?
Yeah.
Gago's like, yeah, I can fit in that shit.
All right, Gago, go see what's going on.
I got to crawl, though.
I don't normally crawl.
Yeah, crawl it up.
Right here.
Have a drink and crawl.
Do what you got to do.
Don't approach the way you're speaking to me right now.
Please.
I'm totally on your side, brother.
He feels the heightened stakes, and he obliges.
He just kind of goes in there a little way
and then he backs out
and he says, there's a real ass looking spider
in there.
How big?
It's like tarantula sized.
It's like biggish.
As big as you?
A little smaller than that.
But it's a weird looking.
Go kill it.
No, I'm just kidding.
Can we knock on the door? It's open. Go kill it. No. No, I'm just kidding. Can we knock on the door?
It's open. I mean, you just
It's open.
He crawled in there. I just look in the door and
He's like, I think it's coming out.
It's a little trap door spider.
This little
tarantula looking thing comes out.
Hi. Does it also have a person?
No.
It looks like a spider, except it has it looks almost like little mouse feet at the end of its eight legs.
Oh, my God.
It's horrible.
There's something very strange about this.
Can it talk?
Absolutely horrible.
Can you talk?
Everybody roll a perception check.
Difficulty.
What is it?
15.
Yep.
Yep. 20. 15 yep 20 you lean very closely and you hear
unintelligible whistling
sounds
unintelligible whistling sounds
they have book lungs
they whistle
they're like accordions or calliope
spiders
they sing with their lungs.
They're horrible.
But it kind of like arches its head back as you approach,
and it raises its front paw.
Does it make noise?
Ew.
Like it's attacking us?
No.
Okay.
But like it's trying to communicate something.
Okay, who speaks spider?
Oh, hey, you know what?
I'm going to roll a little...
I'm going to cast a little tongue spell.
Okay.
Go for it.
Exactly.
I'm going to cast a little tongue. I'm going to go, hey, how you doing? I want you to cast a little tongue spell. Okay. Go for it. Exactly.
I'm going to cast a little tongue.
I'm going to go, hey, how you doing?
I'm going to watch you cast that tongue.
Hi, it's me, Tweed.
First time caller, long time listener.
All right.
Just getting a quick refresher.
The tongue caster is in the house. So you can just barely hear it, but you hear it introducing itself.
Its name is Dearest.
Dearest.
And it wants to be...
You can't quite tell why,
or it seems to be speaking something very simple.
It just wants to be picked up.
It wants to be held.
I like that.
That's all it will say.
My name is Dearest.
May I be held?
I'm not afraid to hold him.
Well, he's the only one who can talk to him, so it should probably be.
Oh, yeah, you can hold him if you want.
Yeah, why do you need to be held?
It says, hold me and you will see.
I feel like it's going to do the thing that the kid did and try to steal my wand.
I have no fear of holding it.
I feel like we should...
Don't you have a predictive gauntlet?
A what?
Don't you have a gauntlet?
Oh, I have gauntlets.
Yeah, I have a gauntlet of...
Oh, no, I have gauntlets of sleight of hand.
But it's going to kill us.
Well, and the other thing just asked us a riddle.
I don't know why it would...
No, it would kill us.
Yeah, I don't... Are you asking if I hold it will kill us. Yeah, I don't know.
Are you asking if I hold it and then it can't really sting me?
Yeah.
Yeah, I'll hold it.
Okay.
Do you pick the spider up first, Twee, with your bare hands?
Or do you wait for Bodhi to go?
Because it's been speaking to you.
I'm going to default to the gauntlets.
Okay.
Just being a dick about it i put i don't pick it up because well tarantulas you can pick like of the right it's smaller than
your hand i think you can hold the back of them like but i don't think you're supposed to do you
pick it up by the back no no i put my hand out my hand out. As you hold your hand out, it kind of like raises its hands up again
and kind of motions towards the back of your hand,
like farther up your wrist.
What do you mean?
It's resisting climbing onto your hand.
It seems to be gesturing to your forearm.
It wants to touch your flesh.
No.
It wishes to touch your flesh.
No.
I will let it touch my flesh.
All right. I want it to touch my flesh. No. I will let it touch my flesh. All right.
I want it to touch my flesh.
You do?
Yes.
Okay.
That doesn't sound like Tom, though.
No, what would Tom say to everyone?
Come on, little spider.
Come on, get on my hand, buddy.
You haven't done the voice with the headphones yet.
I know.
It's going to be weird.
So you come on and you climb on my hand.
So you offer it your bare hand.
Yeah.
You're my brother.
It climbs on to your bare hand.
We're all family.
And it definitely do a constitution saving throw.
Difficulty 10.
constitution saving throw.
Difficulty 10.
You feel all fucking skeeved out as these tiny
little eight mice feet
I don't know, I think it's kind of cute.
Crawl across your hand, but yeah, you don't recoil.
It tries to make eye contact
with you. You can tell it's kind of like
searching for your eyes with its eight little beady eyes.
And it very slowly without budging its eye contact,
starts to...
You see it bear fangs,
and it starts to lower its fangs onto the flesh of your hand.
Okay.
It hasn't made contact yet. What do you do?
I'm waiting.
Okay.
It plants into the palm of your right hand the very tips of its fangs.
Okay.
And it pauses for just a moment to see how you react.
Does it hurt?
No.
Are you going to be turned into some sort of driver?
Or is it just going to, it into some sort of driver?
It's a test.
I think it's testing me to see if it can trust me.
Okay. I let it happen.
It positions its fangs into your
flesh. You don't feel anything
because the fangs are so sharp and small.
Okay.
And then you see
its abdomen curls
towards where the fangs were.
And as the fangs pull out, its abdomen presses against the two tooth holes.
And two little spines from its abdomen go into the two little holes where the fangs were.
That's weird.
What do you do?
Is it like webbing?
Right now, you just see the abdomen.
It's got two little prongs on it.
And it goes into the two tooth holes in your hand.
Okay.
What do you do?
Jesus.
I ask what it's doing.
If anybody listening has a spider thing,
they've turned this show off a while ago.
Let's make sure to tell Sark to listen to this one.
Tweed, can you translate for me?
Ask what he's doing
What are you doing?
To my friend's hand, please
You hear
My name is Dearest
I am almost done
It's laying eggs in your hand, dude
You gotta kill it
Is that really what he said?
Do a constitution saving throw
That was a mistranslation
Five Do a constitution saving throw. That was a mistranslation.
Five.
You realize it is definitely injecting something into your hand.
Okay.
But it's doing it very slowly, and it's checking to see how you react.
Is it going to turn you into a drider dude?
I don't think so.
What do you do?
I'm going to set it at 30-second timer.
I'll set it back down on the ground.
Before it can finish?
Yeah.
Okay.
As you lower its hand, it very quickly retracts its abdomen away from the holes,
and it plants itself on the ground.
All right.
Talk to it again.
Talk to it again, Blaine.
Hey, how you doing?
Are you, do you feel like
you need to finish something?
Yes.
Ask him what, though.
What do you need to finish?
I need to finish.
Are you performing a test?
Are you laying eggs?
My name is Tiaras.
I need to finish.
What are you finishing?
I need to finish.
You need to finish what?
Are you on a mission?
I'm almost done.
Is this a curse?
I need to finish.
Okay, is there anything in the lore that tells us what an animal like
this is? Do an Arcana check. Difficulty 20.
Nope.
Seven.
Difficulty 20.
Yes.
you sense an otherworldly
sentience has been bestowed upon
this creature.
And you get a sense that whoever
hid the cloak set this creature. And you get a sense that whoever hid the cloak set this creature
here.
You know, I know
Zinzerina, right?
You made temporary contact with her. If you remember,
you do not have a binding agreement with her.
She merely showed up and performed a duty.
I'm going to ask
the spider if it knows
Zinzerina.
Do you I'm going to ask the spider if it knows Zinzerina. Do a persuasion check difficulty 15.
19 plus 4, which is 39.
Nope, but close.
It says, I am here to keep her from her things.
Remember, Zenzarina's bad.
That's good.
These things are bad.
Yeah.
That's why I think, that's why I'm not so afraid of a spider.
I think you're right.
I think you're.
I mean, it was weird what it was doing.
It's probably giving you something that you're going to need To do to be able to lick
That's what I feel like too
I think because didn't it say
What was the language it used up top
Was I want to I'll show you
I need to be held
Yeah I need to be held and then what did you say after
Why do you need to be held so I can show
Something like that
Alright
Maybe it's giving you the ability to shoot webbing or something.
I'm going to pick it back up when I finish.
It very slowly starts to lower
its abdomen's prongs into the two
holes its teeth left. You're not hurting him, are you?
In fact, before it does that, it very slowly
rubs its
mandibles together. Kind of clears
out some dust.
Clears out some dust that
had landed in the tiny little fang holes.
And then it turns to you and says,
My name is Dearest and I need to finish.
You're not going to hurt him, are you?
My name is Dearest. I need to finish.
We're finished.
I'm almost done.
All right.
Okay.
If you hurt him, I'll stomp on you.
You know what? I'm going to have a cigarette.
I'm going to go have a cigarette.
Do a constitution saving throw.
Yeah.
All right.
So you see its prongs go in the holes, and it starts to undulate.
Yeah.
I don't like anything undulating.
And then it pulls its prongs out.
I have no fear of spider.
And you hear whistling noises coming from its face.
That's it?
What's it saying?
Tweed, do you lean in to hear what it's saying?
Oh, yeah, let's hear what it's saying.
What's it saying?
It says, I am done.
Return me.
Return you where?
I'll pick him up and put him back in his hole.
Okay, so Bodhi picks it up, puts it back in its hole.
Do a perception check, Tom.
20.
Nice.
You rolled a 20?
Yes, he sure did.
Plus 11.
It has injected something under your flesh,
and you can feel it beginning to grow.
Oh, great.
Can I see it?
We thought.
You see just it looks like a bug bite right now.
Can you shoot a web out of there?
Is this
anything I'm wearing today?
No, that's all for now.
The spider crawls into
its hole. It goes far enough in there you
can't see it without leaning in close. Wait, are we supposed to go
downstairs now?
I finished.
Sorry, what was that?
Wait.
Okay.
Oh, okay.
Hopefully I'm going to shrink down
and fit into this hole.
Let's wait.
Maybe it's like an
Alice in Wonderland thing.
Can we wait?
Yeah, waiting.
Okay.
How long do you wait?
Five minutes.
Whatever, however.
Until whatever happens
to Ken happens.
Five minutes goes by.
Nothing happens.
All right.
I try to...
We tell ghost stories.
Anything, any change in my hand?
After five minutes, it's begun to grow.
Uh-huh.
It looks like a welt, a raised welt.
All right.
Terrific.
Do you continue to wait?
Yeah.
Does it hurt?
Five more minutes.
It does begin to sting,
and you feel there is something hard underneath your skin.
Oh.
All right.
Okay, how gross is this going to be on a scale of one to ten?
Keep waiting.
Okay, we keep waiting.
Another five minutes goes by,
and you feel a sharp pain in the palm of your hand,
goes by and you feel a sharp pain in the palm of your hand and it begins to throb as the welt becomes the size of the first joint of your thumb.
Okay.
Keep waiting.
You hear a...
Oh, yes?
Yeah.
What?
Tweed, what did he say?
It is done.
Okay. All right done Now what?
Should I pop it?
We ask him what we do now
It is done
It's done you guys
So now do we go downstairs?
Now see what happens
What is it?
Perception check on it
There's something hard
The size of the first joint
of your thumb underneath your skin.
Is it a key?
It could be a pearl.
Oh my god, we're rich.
It's a beautiful spider pearl.
Can you squeeze it out?
There's a hole.
A bunch of spiders, yeah.
The holes are no longer visible.
Your skin is...
The different layers of skin underneath have
pressed up against it. Ask him if it's okay
if I cut it open.
It is done.
Oh, boy. Well, he doesn't seem concerned
then. I'm going to cut it open.
With what? A dagger.
Medicine check difficulty 10.
Medicine... Okay, I got a plus three.
Yeah, good.
1d4?
Did some good medicine.
1d4.
You rolled a six.
You know, that happens sometimes.
Eh, well.
That's a four.
Two.
You take two points of damage as you cut open your hand,
and it bleeds a bit.
But you take two points of damage as you cut open your hand, and it bleeds a bit, but you take two points of damage,
and there's a small key.
It is a key.
As you cut your flesh open,
you hear what sounds like a stone door
opening beneath you in the pit outside.
Weird.
The key, you notice, is curiously small.
It is a very small uh metal key that looks too small to open a
normal door but that's for the little door yeah does it work on the spider's door spider's door
is still open you don't even see a keyhole on it you don't know what this key is for let's go
through this stone door yeah there's one one more door of the guardians beneath you.
Down the next level.
Oh, that's what opened downstairs.
And the door has already opened.
Nothing else that needed to be opened up.
Well, as far as we know.
You feel you might be done here.
Okay, cool.
All right.
Is he saying it is done again?
Mm-hmm.
The key will be for the room downstairs.
Level three.
Let's head down to level three.
All right.
You head down to level three.
P3.
Tui, as you and Bodhi float down there...
I keep clicking my car alarm.
Well, we fucking parked on P2.
I told you.
Right by the elevators.
I remember this grief.
Oh, this is such an awkward time.
Red Jimi Hendrix.
Two miles underneath the world in the Feywild.
You forget where your car is parked.
We were right under this dude's reserve spot,
and it was that crazy Armenian name.
I remember the guy's crazy Armenian name on the reserve spot.
All right.
So, Twee and Bodie, you see a...
Artifidian.
Much as you did behind the first story,
shifting shape in the shadows.
There is, again, a crooked door set off of
its symmetry uh to this time to the right kind of zigzagging down the pit so it's like here's the
first story you go down the pit this one's over here next door is down here uh and uh yeah there's
a dark shape shifting okay this one is about six feet tall it is not six feet wide it is not wide
like the drider was. Are you the guardian?
No response.
Do you bring everyone else down? Yes. I am the key master.
I am Vince
Glirtho.
You bring everybody down and
the shape is shifting towards
the doorway.
As it approaches,
hey everybody, do a charisma saving throw.
Something gross is coming towards you.
I hope it doesn't talk like that.
I do.
18.
15.
Charisma, oh, plus a million.
Oh, it's gross.
It's unpleasant to behold.
17.
Wait, this is just our charisma bonus and a roll?
Yeah, I'm a 20.
Your roll plus your bonus.
20.
Did you roll?
17.
Okay, cool.
Charisma bonus, 13.
What did I need to roll?
10.
Oh, yeah, I'm over that.
A form shifts towards you.
It is in a-
A form.
A long, flowing robe. It is about the size of a human.
But as it gets closer, you
realize the
robe does not have feet beneath
it. There is some sort of strange shifting
mass. Its arms
sway from side to side. Sorry about that weird
snorting thing I did.
The robe
is simple
but it is bright red.
Still doing it.
Am I doing it? No, I did it until you get it.
That was it.
That was the worst.
I hate that thing.
Hold on, I have to do a constitution saving throw
against Brian.
So yeah, this thing shifts towards you.
It's arms sway from side to side.
It's wearing a red robe.
And it's got a hood.
And it's got what looks like a bright white face underneath the hood.
But the hood is concealing some of its face.
And it approaches you.
Okay.
Hello.
It shifts its head to you.
And everybody do a perception check.
If anybody gets over...
If you get over a 15,
then I tell you more.
Otherwise, it looks mysterious.
I didn't.
No.
No, no, no.
And a Brian.
Remember, Typha's so good at perceiving.
Yes, I got 20.
Oh, you did?
Okay.
I got plus 11 on perception.
Typha didn't do as good as you.
I'm one shot. Tom, you did? Okay. I got a plus 11 on perception. Typha didn't do as good as you. I'm one shot.
Tom, you realize it does not so much have a face
so much as there is a human mask
made of some sort of porcelain
floating in the middle of the hood.
It's very Miyazaki.
Does it have a keyhole in its face?
No.
No, it doesn't.
But it raises an arm. It has a keyhole in its face? No. No, it doesn't. But it raises an arm.
Does it have a keyhole in its face?
It raises an arm.
Yeah.
And you see...
That'd be del Toro.
Yeah, yeah.
You see what looks like a long worm slowly descend out of the end of the robe and dangle.
What's hanging out of the robe?
No, a worm is dangling out of the folded over
wrist hole of the robe.
Don't let a spider bite me.
Perception again?
Sure.
Everybody do a perception check difficulty
of 20.
It's tough to figure out.
31.
31.
Alright.
Did you really? It seems to be figure out. 31. All right. So. Did you really?
Yeah.
It seems to be offering you a worm.
Sure does.
Hey, who wants a worm?
I'll take the worm this time.
This is like spring break.
Yeah, yeah.
So how do you take it?
Where's Joe Rogan?
I put my hands out like a bowl.
As soon as the hand bowl goes underneath the worm,
the worm plops quickly into your hands.
And it looks like a common earthworm,
and it rides around in your hand bowl.
The figure gestures towards its face.
It guides itself down its neck,
and then it does a circular motion
over its stomach.
Oh, yummy, yummy.
It wants me to eat it?
Welcome to Fear Factor.
It wants me to eat it?
You're gonna shit out a key.
No, your butt's gonna be in a keyhole.
Typha loves eating grubs.
Do you tell her that?
I make a joke about it and then see if she like uh can somebody film
me doing this i would never this is something that simply cannot be communicated via audio
podcast but i want i want to make sure it's clear how typhus reacts so uh when you uh when you guys
makes the uh the fear factor joke was it brian who made the fear factor joke. Was it Brian? Who made the fear factor joke?
I did.
You did?
Yeah.
It was Tom, so it was me.
Okay, so Typha hears you make just a joke about eating worms, and she goes...
And then Esmeralda says that, and she goes...
I still don't know what that means.
She does not want to eat that worm.
She slow burned you.
I look at the thing with the face
and I gesture to it.
Maybe it wants to eat the worm.
It doesn't move at all.
In fact, its head
just cocks to the side a little bit.
Do you want to do a lady and the tramp thing?
Let's pause.
Let's pause, pause, pause.
This set is great.
I'm still peeing my pants.
It would be for about 20 minutes.
We back?
Yeah, when you offer the worm back to it,
it kind of just like...
Does the same thing.
It kind of shakes its head no just a little bit.
Okay, I am going to say that Esmeralda,
emboldened by his bravery in the room before,
decides to just eat the worm.
No shit.
It's like seeing your frogs on a Saturday night.
Chug, chug, chug, chug, chug.
Do you bite it?
Do you ask Typha for assistance?
As a cook, I think you would think to ask her for assistance.
Okay, yeah.
It's a regular earthworm-looking thing.
Okay.
Yeah, ask Typha, I guess. earthworm looking thing okay uh yeah i guess she says uh i would recommend um
not salting it because it might kill it this feels a little magical i'm gonna mess with that but uh
you know we got i've got like a little bit of uh the the fantasy ketchup that you can put on there
give a little bit of a little bit of tang. Sure. Make it taste like vegetables.
Okay. I gestured
at the porcelain mask.
Can I say, can I chew it or should I just swallow it?
Do a perception check.
Tell me what it is.
With your bonus.
Ten.
It just kind of doesn't,
it just kind of like cocks its head.
I think you're supposed to eat it alive.
Well, yeah.
I wouldn't chew it.
Typha hands you like a,
just like a little tiny,
like a palm sized dollop of green syrup.
I just do it.
One, two, three.
One and done.
Do you rub syrup on it?
No, I'm just putting it down.
Just gulp it?
Yeah.
Great.
Everybody do a perception check.
Oh, I feel sick.
Take this salt and this lime.
Do it real quick.
Anybody beat a 20?
Yes.
A 19.
Oh, perception?
Yes.
Tom.
I'm over 20, yes.
All of you notice the figure sort of hovers its way backwards.
As it does so, Tom, you notice instead of feet,
it seems to just have a series of worms that are shuffling itself backwards.
And you see behind the mask and the edges of the mask,
there's just more worms.
And you realize this is just a mass of worms.
Guys, if I become a mass of worms, this has been really fun.
It's been great knowing you.
Oh, boy.
It's the Oogie Boogie Man.
You roll up a non-worm-like character next time.
And then as it backs beyond the doorway,
the stone door shuts behind it.
Everybody do one more perception check, please.
A difficulty of only 10.
It's possible for... Yeah, you automatically pass. Oh, great. A difficulty of only 10. It's possible for...
Yeah, you'll automatically pass.
Oh, great.
14.
29.
18.
Tom.
Yes?
You hear a...
Oh.
In the passage behind you
and turn around
and you see a shape go...
Down the pit.
The F?
Down to the past us?
Uh-huh.
And then do one more perception check everybody all right i passed
it 23 7 you got a 23 yep uh you notice tom uh at the bottom of the the where the stone door closed, a little strap appears. It's about 10 inches long on either side.
So it's like 10 inch.
And then there's a lock in the middle and then a 10 inch strap on the other side.
Interesting.
What's happening with her and the worm?
Nothing right now.
But you get the sense that this strap would fit around the diary that
you procured oh and padlock is about the size of the key that you procured okay so i'm gonna lock
the diary i'm gonna put the okay let's do it right that's why we're here all right you do it
yeah put the strap around the diary yeah you lock the lock yeah the whole thing uh starts to
glow and hum glow and hum how about that you get a sense it's magically sealed least favorite
um you can easily take the key back out but the the it's very faint glow. It's not going to light up your bag if you put it in your bag.
And you
are reminded that some sort of shape
went and fell down
the pit behind you.
Fell into the...
River of Festerness?
Do it seem like the shape of a cloak?
Could have been
fabric. Sure made a fabric-y foomf.
Guys, maybe that was the cloak
oh the cloak fell
you released it
maybe that released it
let's go out
into the hallway
into the river of
festerness I guess
yeah
what's going on
with that worm
though that I ate
you don't know
TBD
do I feel anything weird
well when we get back
on the stroma
you feel like you
ate a worm
and you have dinner
do not let her back on the ship You feel like you ate a worm. And you have dinner.
Do not let her back on the ship.
Ash, what are you doing?
So it's pretty much a sheer drop.
And as you guys look down the tunnel, if you listen very closely,
if you listen past the vague ringing still in your ears, you think you hear water trickling far, far below.
We can see it on the map.
Is it here at the River of Festinus?
The River of Festinus.
Can we take a scram, Gomez?
Okay, so let's figure out a way to get down there, I guess.
Yeah.
Is it...
We should maybe, or maybe I can do this,
go up and secure the ropes,
get the ropes from up top, move them down here. I'd say you guys
thought to grab all the ropes. You'd only
use them as like a test to see how
far the pit was. So in the process
of going up and down and all that staff
bullshit that you did to create the portals,
you grabbed the rope. I mean, you tied four of them together
and you would have
just grabbed the ropes again. Okay.
So you've got ropes. What do you do with them?
You've got ropes, kid. We've got ropes what do you do with them you've got
ropes kid we gotta rappel down to get the cloak yeah uh should uh we fly down there take a quick
recon sure so uh yeah you uh it takes you actually like a solid 10 minutes of floating down but you
you start to realize there is a waterfall that is very large.
The pit kind of opens up a little bit and the waterfall is flowing quickly. It is coming from
a very low ceiling tunnel, the water, as you can sort of see in there. You're not sure what you see
up the river of festerness on the map, uh it doesn't look like anything could easily go up
the river uh the waterfall seems to continue a great distance down below do we see the cloak
no you don't see any physical objects just rocks sticking up out of the waterfall top can we fly
down the waterfall uh well right now you can't do nothing.
Let's go further down. Hovering Bodhi and Flying Tui are doing a scout check.
See if we can find anything that we can grab onto.
You go farther and farther down,
and it looks like the waterfall is sort of rolling rapids
for quite some time as the tunnel continues at an angle
and continues as rapids and continues a bit of a distance into more of a linear tunnel,
just as your map suggests.
I was going to say, the map has a Sarlacc at the bottom of it.
I don't know if that's for fun.
But you make it pretty far down the river after the rapids,
and you still don't see anything floating in the river.
Unless you want to do a perception check to look very closely without
the rest of your party. Yes.
Roll a 20.
That would only be
a 16.
Tui, you want to give that a shot? Yeah, why not?
Maybe I shouldn't have.
You don't see anything. Three. Yeah.
I was blinking the whole time. You just see
dark water. Okay. Three. Yeah. I was blinking the whole time. You just see dark water.
Okay.
Pirates up?
Keep looking for the rope.
Keep going.
Dead, dead, dead. You follow the tunnel farther down,
and it opens up into a large underground lake.
The area is, as the map suggests, much wider,
and the water looks very deep.
You hear the waves of the rapids as they spill in
here trickling. Is there any place where he can deposit? Do a perception check. A difficulty of 18.
Nope. Do you see anything? Do the same thing? Is there a... Can I fire a couple of hand bolts in here
to just illuminate the place?
Remind me what a hand bolt is.
Well, just a fire bolt.
Just to kind of...
A couple of magic missile-y things.
You can do that.
You cast a couple of...
To help Bodhi here.
As you cast it,
you see the water is very clear.
And as the fire erupts from your hands,
you see many shapes in the water.
Oops.
I'm moving. Okay. Okay hands, you see many shapes in the water moving.
Okay.
Okay.
Did you see the cloak?
They do seem to kind of scatter.
They scatter away from you and your hands as the light briefly appears.
All right.
They don't like light.
What about a place?
Did you see like a bank or anything?
Nope.
A bank?
Just water and cave.
A river bank.
Oh.
It's like a chase.
The walls along the lake look pretty sheer.
There's some very sharp rocks sticking up,
but it looks like it would be very difficult to plant your feet on them.
How is Bodhi flying?
He's levitating.
He's got a levitate spell.
He's kind of towing around.
Pretty cool.
I grew a key in my hand.
Reminder, you left the rest of your party
way up above at the last guardian door.
Take me to the wall.
Take me to a wall.
Sure.
Can I penetrate it with my sword?
I will.
I'm going to see what the consistency is of the wall
and see if it'll hold me.
Just going to thwack your sword against the wall?
Well, first I'm going to check it,
and then I'm going to see what it will... When you press your hand against the wall, it, first I'm going to check it and then I'm going to see
When you press your hand against the wall, it feels like
extremely hard ancient rock.
Shit.
That's my favorite kind of rock.
I was hoping it was more like
hard packed dirt or something that would
hold me. No.
You feel like your
sword would get nicked if you slammed against it.
Oh, well we got rope.
Is there something I can tie off on and then I can hang?
I have an idea.
Oh, I can't talk to you.
Sadly, they have left you behind.
And we're stuck in a situation where we need to kick you out of the room
if we spend much more time here.
I'm going to make some sort of makeshift harness and hang there.
If I can.
Is there someplace I can do that?
I mean, you can tie it off, but you're not
sure, like, because
you're a big dude, how much the
stalactites hang out. Oh, fuck.
Is it stalagmites? Oh, no.
Stalactite ceiling.
You're not sure. Stalagmite ground.
Thank you.
Stalag-
Stalactite. You can tie one off. thank you still like tight
you can tie one off
alright I'm going to see how secure it feels
do a strength check
with my
unattractive Roman Reigns
265 pounds
strength check difficulty 15
to determine if you can tell
strength? oh yeah easy to determine if you can tell. Strength? Oh, yeah, easy.
Okay.
You feel like the stalactites
may not be
supportive in a circular way.
You feel like you'll slip the rope off if you tie yourself.
And they probably won't help you pay for your college either.
Uh, shit.
Where can we put me to wait for these guys?
I always say that when I show up at a party.
Do a perception check difficulty 15.
Yeah.
You feel like you could hang on to one of the big rocks, sharp all,
you couldn't plant your feet on it but
you could bear hug it for like a solid hour okay i'll do that perfect you stay here i'm gonna go
up should i go up and get some more guys yeah i'm gonna go up who wants to come down i'm just
gonna carry you down yeah we'll come down oh it's one at a time. Portal. Yeah, how long does the spell last?
Does he have to cast...
Oh, it's a cantrip?
Which one?
However, he's bringing us down with levitate or whatever?
Well, I'm going to...
I'm flying.
I'll just carry you.
Okay.
Can we pop a portal here before we leave?
Well, now it's a little scary.
I mean, we did do it to get down there but it does seem
the first portal was okay though
yeah it was
so just saying just that
I have a water breathing amulet so I'd like to use that
so just get me down there and I'll get in the water
so Twee shows back up and he's offering to bring everybody
down
Typha says
I'm gonna stay here
I'm good maybe I'll set up a little makeshift camp here i don't
like that there's a creepy ass worm man on the other side of this stone door right like two feet
away from me but uh it looks like a woman to me but whatever when you just when you just yeah when
you describe the the underground lake she's like, I'm good.
Whatever, I just see only cool things.
So who are you going to take first, Thuy?
Do you want to go first?
Yeah, I'll go.
You have a good idea.
My good idea was just not a great idea, but it was to use the water-breathing amulet,
try to dive down and find that cloak before it gets sucked all the way into the lake. Okay, so he flies you down, and you get a sense that as you see him hanging there,
kind of bear-hugging a stalagmite,
that you could...
Tight, wasn't it?
Tight's a ceiling.
Yeah.
Oh, you were saying it might.
Okay, good.
Stalactite ceiling.
Man, someone enjoys this.
So... it's actually
Dr. Frankenstein's Dracula
although you don't have the strength
to like
bear hug one of these things and hang
you could find enough of a grip
to put like one hand in there
I don't think there's any reason
I'm just going to tie a rope around my waist
I'm going to dive into this lake
I'm going to look for the cloak
using my water breathing amulet you guys hold on to the other side let's see what happens
all right right i mean no reason to bring everybody down here i don't think all right
uh do uh are you okay so you go underwater you're breathing uh anything else well i tied a rope
around my waist so they've got that that, you know, as you do.
You're underwater.
Your eyes slowly adjust to the darkness, and you see there's sort of eel-like fish swimming around you right now,
and there's enough of them that it's hard to see very far in the dark.
Okay, I'm just like...
There's a lot of light reflecting off the eels.
Oh, shit. far in the dark okay i'm just like there's a lot of light reflecting off the eels oh um
shit but and by light i mean like very very dim light you know your half elf eyes are trying to
you would have told her what happened with the scattering light i would i'll give that's a gimme
oh we would have yeah well i didn't hear what the scattering okay so these guys would have told you
i think especially if we taking flash, and when he did,
all these things went as far away from the light as they could.
Oh, okay.
Good to know.
Any sort of magical light?
Yeah, do anybody have a light spell of some kind?
Yeah, you think alone up with Typha.
Without us telling you.
I'm hustling, because I'm just looking where it would have gone
if it had flowed down the river.
You have a hard time seeing more than 20 feet away
with all the eels that are kind of swimming around you.
I mean, 20 feet is...
It's very dark.
20 feet is pretty far.
It's clear but dark.
It's pretty far, but you can't see...
The lake is too big.
You can't see the whole lake.
I mean, he set you down near the opening where the rapids are flowing in,
but these eels are kind of gathering everywhere.
Okay, so I'm going to cast.
Not threatening, but they're reducing your visibility with the dim light.
Can I use – well, I don't know if that will work.
Ken's still not down
with us, right? Correct.
I guess I swim back to the top. I'll go get Ken.
Yeah, I was wondering
if my family was going to come back.
Nobody has light. Is your tripod
ready to be seated? Tom can do something,
right? I'll say, too, while he's
getting...
While Tui is fetching Tom, you can float
to the surface and tell Bodhi, like,
you can try to brainstorm a light source.
Yeah, I mean, I have Chromatic Orb, which is like an attack spell,
but that would, you know, potentially do a bunch of damage
or cause people to attack us or eat us.
Any torches?
How does no, well, torch won't work underwater.
It won't work above the water.
Yeah.
How about, like, is there a way I can follow her?
Can I follow these stalagmites?
Or no, once I...
You feel like it's going to be real slippery once you...
Can you have a mage hand carry a torch over where I'm swimming?
You think as Tui arrives with Tom in his arms.
Hey, what's up, everybody?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I light a torch.
So you light it.
Well, he has to light.
You tell him to go in your pack,
because if you move one of your arms without Tui holding on to you,
it's just going to be floppy.
Can you get a torch out of my hand?
When you hold the torch, the eels scatter.
And as the mage hand kind of floats the torch over the water,
you can see a lot of these things.
Teamwork, guys.
You don't see much moving in here,
but as the eels kind of scatter away,
you do see a very large organic shape shifting near the center of the lake.
That's that big monster.
And that's where we're going to pause it.
Oh, okay.
Because we're at an hour or more, actually.
Yeah, episode 19, is that what that was?
That sure was.
That was a fun one, man.
Thanks for listening.
Thanks for putting up with the mic silliness.
Yeah, we're getting it dialed in.
I still like my bullshit.
I like the headphones.
I hope you like them.
I'm getting used to them very quickly.
I think it's going to help, ultimately,
sounding like a more professional podcast.
Two years in.
It sure is.
I knocked my microphone over the second you said more before.
That's more good, buddy.
Because we're the opposite of professional.
Breaker, breaker one nine.
Thanks for listening.
Anything you want to plug?
Anybody?
I'll be at Comic-Con on the Mad Magazine panel.
Oh.
If you're at San Diego, please come see me.
When's Comic-Con?
July.
It's in July.
This will be airing, think mid-june 18
through the 20th or but something like
that yeah go to Brian Pessain calm I'm
at a theater that I can't remember the
name of the theater down in San Diego on
that Thursday the first official night
of the con and I got a couple of special guests.
It'll be a fun show.
And the San Diego shows,
I always add extra new material written that day about the con.
So those are always fun.
And then I've got some other cool dates coming up.
I'm in Austin again in September,
but I've got
Louisiana, a couple dates
there in August.
