Well, I mean, what started out really strong, I thought we saw a blue wave for this morning, then all of a sudden it was a red wash out there on the board, and then all the way carried to this afternoon until Charlie Hall, Carlota Seganda finally woke up here and kind of made it interesting. But I know you're going to try to justify and give team Europe a shot here. And yes, there is a shot here, but there's a chance. There's a lot of points available tomorrow. What a day of golf it was. We saw hole outs, we saw chip-ins, we saw a lot of putts made, some really good golf.

Absolutely. Absolutely. Um, why don't I quickly recap the day for anybody that wasn't able to catch it. Of course we entered today with the United States up six to two on the strength of their first day. So we had AM foursomes this morning. It went two to two. Okay.

So match one, Nellie Corde and Alison Corpus won one up over Saganda and Emily Peterson. Match two, Charlie Hall and Esther Henslett won one up over Ali Ewing and Jen Cupcho, Lauren Coughlin and Lexi Thompson in match three got a four and three victory over Georgia Hall and Maya Stark. Match four Anna Nordquist and Celine Boutier won four and three over Lilia Vu and Sarah Schmelzel. So after the morning session, it stood 8-4 Team USA, which brings us into the PM 4 balls.

Again, this would split. All right, so we tied both sessions today, 2-2. Match 1, Allison Lee and Megan Kang steamrolled Anna Nordquist and Madeline Saxstrom. Match 2, Rose Zhang and Andrea Lee absolutely boat-raced Lynn Grant and Celine Boutier. Match three was a good one. Saganda Peterson, two and one over Ali Ewing and Lexi Thompson. And then the final match, Charlie Hall, Georgia Hall, two up over Lilia Vu and Allison Corpuz.

Gabby, how was your day out there today? Let's start right there. And also, welcome to the show. Thank you guys. I'm so honored to be here. Definitely not nervous at all. All true statements said earlier. But my day was lovely. I got to walk more of the golf course today actually than any of the other days. I saw the stretch from 11, 12, 13, 14, kind of for the first time. And it's absolutely beautiful out there. Had a really nice spot behind the 11th green.

And I watched in the afternoon, the first three matches all come through. You could see the balls basically coming directly out our faces. So sweet view. Um, and yeah, I spent actually most of the day kind of chasing around Lexi Thompson. So potentially we could talk about her for a little bit. Yes. I think, I think we will definitely talk about Lexi. Before we get there, Cody, actually, you know where we're going to go right now? We got two special guests warming up in the bullpen.

I'd like to bring them in now. They're just off camera. They're a family duo. Mr. Kevin Van Volkenberg, of course, everybody will recognize KVV, but a very special guest with him today is daughter Keegan. Keegan, I want to hear from you. How great of a day was it out there? Oh, it was very exciting and I'm super happy to be able to be here. I just really love watching golf and especially the women. Yes. God.

You want, you want my job here? You want to take the main mic? That was more smooth than I'm ever going to be. So people are familiar with Keegan. Of course, we had her at the US Women's Open last year at Pebble Beach. You wanted to come to this team event. What kind of were your expectations coming out here

today? I think I was definitely very excited for the formats. Playing with a partner is always a lot like easier to make birdies and you know get out there and hit some good shots give yourself a chance um and i'm excited for the singles tomorrow too because i think that would be cool to see individual talent yeah absolutely now uh you're not just out here like on a you know a day off with your dad here we we gave you an assignment you are assigned. So we tasked you to come up with three things your three observations for today So what do you have for the people Keegan? Okay number one. I'd say the first two vibes and music shots. It's all awesome

It's really cool to see the like dance moves from the players Who is the best dancer? Who are you most impressed with? I think Sarah Schmelzel was really cool. All right. My dad over here. And Nellie was a good dancer too. So yeah.

Did we get to meet anybody on the first team today? Yeah, that was amazing. I got to meet Nellie and talk to her a bit. Well, actually, I think I'm going to play something here for the live show audience. So there's a video out there right now that the LPGA Tour just about out and I'm going to play it real quick. friends were known by the best women's golfer in the world. Thanks to Lauren Coughlin for making the intro. We were buds with Lauren and she was like, do you want to meet Nellie? And we were like, uh, yeah. Yeah. Worked out pretty good. And I know you got to meet Nellie. I remember when we were at Pebble beach, you had, you even got to walk a couple holes with Lydia Ko.

Yeah, that was really cool. She gave me a high five. I got a signed ball from the champion. So that was really cool. Awesome. All right. What's next? Number two, what was the other cool thing?

Number two, I spent some time watching players from behind the green at 14 and see them go for the green in two on that par 5, which was really cool. We saw Rose Zhang hit an incredible shot just trickling down the slope there towards the hole. So she ended up making eagle and Megan Kang making an eagle there too with a really similar shot so that was that it looked to me like Megan Kang shot did she get a little lucky there was that kind of a good bounce that seemed like that ball was headed for the bunker yeah i

think it just she got her distance just right over that bunker yeah she had her carry numbers down the minimum carry she needed and it just she was world class and I'm me. Point taken. Alright, third thing. My third thing was Lauren saying that I had a really good swing. Yeah, of course. That was probably my third. And you have the video for the rest of your life That's hey showing next next time

I mean, I'm sure you're headed back to school Monday nice little video to play to your friends there We were pumped up. We're gonna be back tomorrow. We're excited to see singles It's just really cool to see Lauren You know like probably three years ago Lauren and John came to our country club and played just like a friendly match We're Keegan and Lauren were partners and John and I were partners and Lauren and Keegan beat the, you know, beat the crap out of us. So that was it was like back then we were talking today was like, remember back then Lauren didn't even have status. She was kind of just still working and all of a sudden now she's like maybe a top five player in the world. Like what is going on here? Yeah, getting to like witness the growth of a player is really cool. Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely.

And what a week for Lauren. I mean, you followed her season ever going back to when you were first introduced to her. You talked about meeting her, being able to play with her, but phenomenal season for her. Two wins so far playing in a Solheim Cup in her home state with family and friends and everything it's it's a real it's something cool and I would say it's a goal for you because you want to be a golfer right yeah absolutely okay I'll just say KVV anything had you been out to a Solheim Cup before this is my first time I went to an LPGA crown but that just doesn't

quite have the same energy I've watched it on TV a ton of times. I really was just like, you know, and shout out to the LPGA for like a year ago. They, after the women's US open, they reached out to us and were like, Hey, would you know, when we announced the Solheim cup team, would you and Keegan like to sort of announce it, uh, who gets to make the team? And so we did a little video about Alison Corpuz. That was awesome. And they said, you know, if Keegan wants to come out and be like a junior reporter this year, you know, we'd love to have an unpaid

intern for the week. It's not, you know, Gabby's a good, good example of like once your like family is into it, it's just so much fun to share the game with people and that it's so fun to see girls become women. You know, Lauren is a great example to her. Dad took her out. And so if there's any dads out there who were like, oh, you know, I'd like to do that, but I just don't know. I don't know. Just get a bunch of snacks, get in a cart, go out and play chip and putt goof around, play music. That's how Keegan and I started got to doing it. And here we are

like goofing around in a slow. I'm go. Yeah. All right. Before we let you go Keegan, what's your prediction? Who's going to win tomorrow? US or is Europe gonna mount a comeback? I'm gonna say team USA. Yeah, there we go. Too many players playing too good. I think what if Lauren gets the winning point? Yeah, that would be pretty awesome. That would be great. Wow. Real cool. So Keegan, you've done an awesome job. You're gonna do a phenomenal job tomorrow too. Your work is not done, okay? You might not be getting paid. We're paying you in food and a bed

to sleep in. But you know, since we have the resident Big J, house Big J journalists, I don't want to offend you Gabby. Kev, what do you think today was? What, what, if there's talking points, something that stuck out to you, what, what's gonna be the lasting memory of this Saturday? I think just the energy, right? Like it's so fun to, that's why you have this cup, you know, move back and forth, right? Between, there's the energy when it's in Europe, there's energy when it's America, that's really hard to overcome. It's just so fun to feel that when you're on the ground, right? Like, there's, look, our country is complicated. There's people who believe in different things, whatever,

but to be out here and to feel like, hey, we're all kind of like, if we're Americans, we're, you know, unless you're Randy and TC, you're kind of backing a group of diverse, different people who are all sort of pulling together. That's so fun to keep. I don't care about anybody's politics. When I'm out here looking at that stuff, I'm just sort of like, you know what, I'm an American. It's fun to feel pride in that.

That's just what I love about these team events. Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I think it's just something. There's a feeling in the air. There's electricity. I mean, it doesn't matter if it's somebody hauling out, chipping out or really just, you know, we've seen, we saw matches out there today like people struggling to make pars and bogeys and like those are still good shots. They might not be with you if it's a stroke play event, you know, the best thing that you know, Nobody's making Eagles or birdies are out there. But still match play

I love the fact that it doesn't matter what the number is It's about who got in the hole first and you know the mentality and the gamesmanship and everything else around it Carlota out there being slow as hell. Excuse my language. He and geez But making it happen, you know, I think that's what this competition represents. And it gives the players a chance to feel like, see a different side of herself. Like Nellie was literally joking about how she had been

introduced as Nori Korda the other night. Right. And so she was like, you know what? We're just leaning into it. Like, I'm going to be Nori Korda this week. I'm going to, you know, pump, you know, she had an awesome fist pump. But we, you know, that thing where she made the eagle

when Allison topped that ball. That's so cool to see that side of her, to see Rose throwing fist pumps in the air, getting the crowd into it, them doing the kind of dunk thing after they make putts. That's pretty fun to see in golf. Now I do have something to announce. So I'm the only person sitting at this table on the live shows that has seen the pairings for tomorrow. Alright, so Randy, Gabby, KVB, Keegan. If there was a player, I'll play, we're gonna play a little game, a little draft game, okay? Alright, if there was a player that you wanted to lead off to set the

stage for Team USA who is a lead in this competition, who would that player be? I'm gonna throw it to Keegan. Who do you think? Yeah, you go first. I think Rose. I think she can be that calm, confident, like vibe out there to go first.

Good tactic. Yeah, anyone else? That's really hard to go. Megan Kang out there. Yeah. Get the crowd so high. She's going to like she's doing like professional wrestling moves out there. I might, you know, really just basically strike an energy blow right at the beginning.

I was going to guess Lexi just, you know, kind of the figurehead last Solheim Cup match. One last ride. God, I love that. The crowd will be all behind her. I love that. It's like Tombstone where they just saddle up one last time to go kick ass. Or do you send out Nelly first? I mean, they've been doing that, so I wouldn't be super surprised if they stuck with the strategy. Well, that's your strongest out first. I'm going to have to give the journalism award to Gby. That's right. World number one and the leader of this United States team match 17 off at 8 50 tomorrow morning. Nelly quarter of the United States playing Charlie

Hall. That's a fun one. That's a really little captain's agreement. Maybe I believe so. Oh man, that's what the people that's Charlie to get a scalp, you know, take down Nelly and that sends a message to the rest of Team Europe. Hey, there's a chance. I was just talking to Keegan as we were kind of thinking about the pairings on 18. I was like, you know, do you send out your best player again if you think Nelly's going to go out first or do you kind of put someone else out there? You're like, well, look, we're probably not going to win this point.

We're going to get us, you know, just like maybe get an upset if someone gets hot. And I, you know, clear, clear Suzanne was like, No, yeah, I'm sending out my my alpha as well. Yeah, she's also been saying that Charlie doesn't have much of an attention span. She kind of got to get her going. And she kind of got the momentum going this afternoon. So I wouldn't be surprised if that had a factor. She absolutely got the momentum going making putts in

phenomenal shots. And the one thing that she does love is momentum and not being slowed down by a slow player in front of her. So Charlie's not going to have to deal with that her and Nellie very fast players. And I wouldn't be surprised if they really like finished two holes ahead of the group following them, which are we doing pairings right now? I'm going to, I'm going to do a couple at the time. Okay. All right. I was, whoo.

KVB brought it up. Somebody who's been fired up for this event, been leading chance and everything else, representing the United States of America, Megan Kang, playing Emily Christine Peterson. She's a dog. Yeah. She loves... I was going to say that. She... Listen, the lowest ranked player here this week, I think 103rd in the

world. And she's going to play all five sessions and she's two and two. And I just have the utmost respect for Emily being able to summon something in this type of setting. It just talk about somebody that doesn't want to disappoint their captain. I feel like Emily is playing her Suzanne. I don't, I didn't know much about her to be honest, coming into this week, but I, I followed her group today because they were playing Lexi and on the first hole, she kind of blasted a bunker shot a little past the pin and someone in the gallery said something like, see you ball or something like that. And she turns around and stares at the guy for 10 seconds.

And I was like, this girl has something in her. I like it. She is very much a no BS type of person. Remember that move Keegan. Yeah. She's fiery. Not only that, like, uh, you know, she's got a really good attitude and had head space on her, but she also hits the ball so far.

Oh yeah. And we just, we talk about people and the, you know. Oh yeah matches the ball. We talk about people and that you know it's separating the women from the girls sometimes when it comes to the LPGA Tour and she is somebody who unleashes it all the time. One of the longest out there has a tendency to spray it which she hasn't really gotten in too much trouble so far this week but I think that's a great match. We talked about Megan Kang she's just been on fire. I mean, so pumped up. Even when she, you know, sat out her session, she was out there supporting. She was in like a red, white and blue jumper. You know, her, uh, she's just a vibe, man. She's fun to be around. Total hype woman. I mean, has

played both four ball sessions and played with Nelly yesterday and I've never seen Nelly have more fun on a golf course. And I credit Megan bringing that out of Nellie, creating the space for Nellie just to totally relax, be herself. You saw big fist pumps. And then today with Alison Lee, who quite honestly has struggled.

She struggled in her first Solheim, didn't look great yesterday. Her and Megan looked fantastic today. You saw Alison Lee hole out on was it the second hole? Second hole, Eagle. Now, let's talk about this. There's a little bit of controversy here. It will not save her work action.

How do you feel? I think, you know, we're all, this is an American show. All right. I apologize to the to the podcast listeners and the live show audience that are awake still supporting team Europe And I saw I got on the Twitter's and saw that there was a little bit of hubbub just from the European You just don't do that Yeah folks about ruining the the legacy and for the traditions of this event in this great game that we love But you know, we saw we saw the tarps come off man. They dropped shirts. There's a $500 bet on the line. Um, that they said, no, no, Megan said, I don't want 500 bucks.

I want if somebody holds out, you guys are taking your tops off. And that's exactly what happened on the second hole. We were there. Like we, we didn't get to see it, but we heard it. Right. We was like, we were following roses match and then all of a sudden what happened? We had a big roar through the trees. An eruption of sound. I kind of wish we had been over there to see that. It would have been too sweet. I will say that those roars through the trees, that's almost just as fun when you're on a different part of the course and you're like,

Oh my God, what just happened? That was something big. Gabby, big J journalist, will you be writing the piece that these caddies have disgraced the game of golf? Yeah, they're just ruining it one tarp off at a time. But no, I honestly, I thought it was great. Like I've been, I wrote a column earlier this week, even about the Solheim Cup needing a tiebreaker rule and just like going against tradition. I've been, I've been having those hot takes and anything for I think the entertainment product. This is a viral video for them. And it's anything that can reach that kind of audience and kind of spark joy in fans, young fans especially. Like I think I'm all for that honestly. Yeah, I could not agree more. You know, but maybe that's just a bias aspect of this show.

I don't know. Who knows? I was totally down for it. I think we'd support it if the Euros did it. Well, I think if the Euros did it, it would be like the coolest thing in the world and everybody would be like, yeah, that's awesome. But it seems like it's an American's. We know a few of those Euro caddies, Jack Clark, Shane Cos, like, come on, boys, let's

get those shirts off. I do say, this goes back, you know, United States, we're not very creative. We're going to give the Europeans all the kudos. We have two chants. We can't sing. We don't come up a little. I mean, the USA chant is, it gets so worn out. We would be better off if we just went out there and started yelling defense.

People would actually get into it, you know? Yeah. Well, what do you, Cody, you tell me what we want to do now? Are we going to keep going down the pairings? I'll go down a couple more pairings just because I think, you know, it's good. So don't look at it. Don't look. The next somebody representing the United States. So we just talked about a holdout for Eagle on the second hole this afternoon. Alison Lee, we're finally wanting her to kind of get off and get, have a good, uh, second showing you this is her second Sorheim cup, but she is going to be playing Georgia hall now, Georgia hall up until this afternoon. Nobody's really seen her. I don't really know what's been going on with her form, big, I don't know.

What do you make of it? Josh Birkhoff George is a tough one because her body language to me always looks the same and it's always just kind of, you know, a little bit slump shoulder. She gives you nothing with the facial expression. So it's hard to read. You know, she could be playing great and look like that. She could be playing awful and look like that. She could be playing awful and look like that.

It's tough to tell where she thinks her game is based on that. I do think it was nice to see her. She's obviously very good friends with Charlie. They went out and played really well. And I thought Georgia started hitting several very good golf shots. So perhaps, you know, comfy pairing today for them. Confidence booster. Do you have any more insight on Georgia? I mean, I was gonna say like the pairing with Charlie is like why she really makes sense on the

Solheim Cup team. She kind of brings the comfort and the vibes out of Charlie that she needs and I feel like that's what happened this afternoon. So it makes sense to put her out in that position because she's steady and I feel like that's what they need early on. Like they don't want someone who's just going to maybe blow up and give a point away early. So I can see why Georgia was put out there. I think it's a, you know, I can see Suzanne kind of trying to front load the lineup tomorrow with,

with Charlie Emily's, you know, we've talked about her. She's a total bulldog. Georgia, Georgia is somebody quite honestly, in my opinion, she is a major champion and open champion. I think probably her individual results though, are not quite up to par with her abilities and, and like, these are the big spots tomorrow, Georgia, like come out. Win a match. These are the types of things that build a legacy a reputation in my opinion so I think it's a fascinating

match honestly yeah I agree I'm very very excited for this I think Georgia you know she's got that fire in her she she has had very good runs in team competitions obviously in the past but it's just something you know she's either very very hot or she's ice-cold and you know luckily We finally saw her with Charlie today, which everybody has been wanting and They finally got a point out of it now. for 2024. Biggie, the next match. Man, she's been playing rock solid all the way until they ran into a buzz saw. I'm going to lead out with team Europe here, the big Swede and an orquist. Captain's pick and is making the most out of that captain's pick. Suzanne Pedersen is playing Allison Corpus. What are your thoughts, Kev? I thought Allison was like pretty good at times and also a little shaky at times, right? Like she, we all saw that the three would, she topped and got away with it. It was incredible. She had an unbelievable shot. Are you familiar with that shot? Yeah. Oh yeah. I know that's how I approach a lot of holes. Nobody knows. I got that shot up there.

Game of good misses. Kev, I saw your tweet about it and I immediately turned to Randy because we played the old course the day after the AIG one was open and there was multiple drives that Randy like hopped off the tee box and I flushed and I got up there and we'd be like five yards apart. I'm like, what is, how did you miss these 15 pop bunkers on the way up here? I was born on the wrong continent. Truly loves it. But yeah, go ahead. I mean, I just think Alison, it's like her demeanor is always so chill. Like she,

she can be when she gets into that groove of just like, she doesn't seem like anything rattles her. The putting felt like a little bit shaky at times when we watched her. She had an eagle putt that was, you know, really kind of big on 14, hit absolutely just stone dead in there and then shoved the putt a little bit right. It's clearly bothered by a little bit. It's clearly bothered by a little bit was kind of you know going over a practice in a few times. So I love Allison like I just think she's a really nice person and I want to see her like come up you know like the same way she did in the US Open. So you know it's a fun like Anna's always been like super rock solid too like she doesn't make other than the chipping like doesn't make

big bad mistakes. Maybe it's a perfect match because they're both have a little bit of flaws in it. Yeah. I'll say Anna the most experienced Solheim player out here. She it's a fascinating that I feel like Allison and Anna are so similar with their personality and demeanors. It will be not sure. I'm not sure I'd be shocked if either one of them really fist pumped at any point during their match tomorrow.

They, they just kind of keep to themselves a little bit. Uh, but I think for that reason, it's, it's a great matchup, you know, almost two very similar types of people. I also gave a good fist bump there late today. Did you guys see that? Yeah. Like I forget what hole it was on the late in the match, um I was like whoa yeah yeah things you don't walk in a putt on 17 that I don't think she oh no

good well somebody who is very familiar with celebrations, it doesn't really matter if it's just a routine par or not and can has a tendency to lull this entire field sleep is Carlota Seganda. And of all people, I think this is an excellent match that we're going to see tomorrow because they put a person from team USA on her sophomore Solheim cup who was playing lights out here in Rose Zhang. I saw a lot of Carlota today. Really my first time watching her in person and had the timer out a couple times. It was really interesting to watch how many times she could back away from a shot. I didn't know that it was possible at certain points. But yeah, also saw her hit a dead shank today. Did they show that on the broadcast? I don't remember. She literally hit a cold shank downhill lie in the left rough on the second hole straight into the van. I assume on four balls, right? Yeah.

Four balls. Yeah. They probably just. She went and still hit it and had like a clear shot with you. Totally funny. But, um, she, she was really kind of picking up steamly in the round. And funny thing that was happening is the junior European Solheim Cup team was all like, however many of them there are, were following her group and, you know, singing her name and doing the whole chanting and they really got her riled up, I think. So if she has a good crowd

around her tomorrow, I think like that could be a really, a really interesting match because Rose's putter is on fire this week and Carlota can get really hot in these kind of late clutch moments. So I would follow that one. I love seeing Rose get the crowd into it. I love seeing her do things that she doesn't normally do in, you know, stroke play and just she's continually like really feels like the energy of it. It's just, that's just what's, again, I said so much fun to watch that other side of players come out. Yeah absolutely Rose we talked this I said this was her sophomore Solheim Cup and everybody you know even us in our preview show and the happy hour we talked about what Rose needed to do to kind of prove herself from last year. Oh two and one last year. You know

and this is a completely different Rose Zhang this is the Rose that we're familiar in seeing. She's been an absolute killer so far. Three points on the board, sat out that one session. And the display that she put on this afternoon with Andrea Lee, the Stanford Cardinals duo, six and four over Lynn Grant and Celine Boutier, when Lynn is supposed to be the European killer and she's just completely neutered. Yeah. For three.

I know. I think what's exciting long-term for Team USA, that pairing is one that you could go back to the well, hopefully the next, you know, five Solheim Cups with Rose and Andrea. They seem so comfortable together. I love the little Stanford connection. What would they win? five and four yesterday in their four ball match and six and four today? I mean, they are just, they are killing people. It is a buzzsaw. Those are Jordan Prez who pointed out,

like seeing match play killer Rose Zangback is like a gift to all of us. For sure. That's, you know, Jordan obviously followed super closely Rose's career in college, just written a lot about her. Well, Rose, there's been a lot of changes obviously from graduate, or not graduating, but finishing school, a heavy run of amateur events, winning her first event as a professional, and then finishing the rest of that year off, playing the Solheim Cup, and then not only going back to school and taking a hefty

course load here that she's trying to manage while still playing professional at the same time, she also changes her diet. So she went gluten and dairy free. And I think she's passed that now. And we're finally seeing signs of the killer Rose. And it's kind of been like that since late spring and then all summer long. But I think Rose is back. I'll say this Carlotta don't sleep on her singles record for one and then all summer long. But I think Rose is back. I'll say this, Carlotta don't sleep on her singles record.

Four one and one all time in Solheim singles. So that is gonna be, again, we end up loving every match for their own reasons, but it's like, that's a fascinating match. Can't wait to watch that. As I had to laugh today, just briefly just watching the golf channel and they had Karen Stubbles on love Karen,

but they like, they put like up her Solheim record, like one four and oh, so hard. Yeah. I thought this was funny. I thought the same thing. Thought the same thing. Well, we're right in the hot hand. We talked about Rose. Now we're going to go to Andrea Lee. So she, Andrea Lee is going to be the sixth match going out and she is going to play a rookie, European rookie, somebody who had great form coming in, got an Olympic medal here. And that's Esther Hensley.

So if we can go a couple of ways, I'll start with Esther. I was shocked. She didn't play this afternoon. I thought, you know, her and Charlie won a point in all shot this morning. Obviously Cody, you said you talked about her form coming into this week. To me, you know, it's easy to second guess, I guess, but Celine, I thought Esther should have gone out this afternoon in Celine's spot. I thought you could kind of see Esther gaining that confidence this morning.

They had a fantastic match this morning. Charlie absolutely air mailed 17, one of the worst Icaritos I think you'll ever see like long down into the water. They had to concede 17 to square the match. And then Charlie steps up on 18 pumps her drive. Esther hits it, I think to like the match. And then Charlie steps up on 18, pumps her drive. Esther hits it, I think to like two feet. US team conceded it and it was a one-up victory. So I, I'm, I'm, it's, it's a great opportunity for Esther tomorrow.

Yeah. That, that little wedge shot on 18 was nasty. It was like 82 yards, like nipped right away. And she can, she can play when, when it matters. Two, two kind of young I think They're not household names yet. I don't think both Andrea and Esther Yeah, certainly could be over the next few years, right? I mean, I kind of got inspired when I saw

that she was playing well this morning. And tomorrow will probably be her last Solheim Cup Sunday as a competitive player. And I mean, Lexi Thompson is, you know, a figure in the women's game who will always be around and will always be in our, you know, in our like memory of women's golf, honestly, like she will go down as probably one of them, one of the more influential figures in women's culture. And so seeing that this is kind of the opportunity for her to go out with a bang, as cliche as that sounds, like this is it. So I kind of wanted to see what she did today.

I also wanted to see what the vibes were with her in the crowds. Like the first time I really witnessed Lexi's effect on people was actually at the Grand Thornton Invitational last year in December, the mixed team event, a new one and her mom and dad follow her every single tournament. Her mom usually pushes around this little stroller with her dog in it. Yeah. And after the round,

for that reason, I'm out. What do you mean, Randy? You just told me that you bought Arthur a new stroller. That's why I'm telling me and Arthur are rolling up the stroller. The point of me bringing up the stroller is that in the bottom compartment of the stroller, her mom just has like all this gear of Lexi's and literally throughout the round she was just handing out gloves, hats, whatever she could, you know, whatever was in there, a pair of shine shoes she gave out to someone at the end of the round. And that little tidbit is, you know, it's a very, it's

very unique to Lexi. But it really shows like her purpose in this game right now is the impact that she has on young girls specifically and seeing her out there today, literally she she swerves out of her way, like out of the middle of the fairway to go high five girls, you know, the most pressure packed moments of the fairway to go high five girls. The most pressure packed moments of a match when she's doing that, whether that's a good thing for Team USA or not is a topic for another day, but it is who Lexi Thompson is right now. Yeah, we've known that for a long time. I think it's one of those things that unless you're at an event, you don't really realize what the Lexi effect is exactly signs every single autograph and I'll say yesterday When she finished her morning session, she did not have much time before her afternoon session

and she was out I think on the 16th green signing autographs and Captain Stacey Lewis right there like Lexi. We got to go. We got to go We got to go like you have to you need to go prepare for your afternoon session You don't have time to sign everybody's things, but she's great She's great with the fans that's very well known but Can I can I I'm gonna put Gabby on the spot a little bit. That's all right. What? What you talked about, you know last year at the Grand Thornton you kind of understood Lexi's effect and you know how?

She interacts and the type of crowd she draws. More growing up because you play golf growing up. What was like Lexi Thompson to you? Because I feel like you guys are pretty similar. Yeah, like she's 29, 25. Yeah. You kind of would have grown up. Totally. I mean she was like the young girl who like went out and played a US Open when she was 15 years old that kind of thing. It was like someone just doing like living the dream basically. But the fact that she was I think she was put in the spotlight at such a young age that then like the Lexi Thompson image became a little bit complicated. And I think but I don't think I really realized that until I entered golf media in a way.

Like I just saw Lexi as, you know, the Puma girl, like the one on the cover of magazines, you know, powerful swing, very like marketable as a player. But I think when I started in journalism, industry and sports journalism, I realized that there's a lot more to the Lexi Thompson story that as a kid I definitely didn't grasp and that's probably one of the reasons why she is so powerful among fans because like it is like a surface-level image of her but that's powerful in a way. It is and I think sorry and I think it makes her

like fascinating yeah and I don't think we really know you know she's not very open now that you're in the media right know, she's not very open now that you're in the media Right side like she's not very open to the media. So I think we're left Kevin kind of wondering some stuff I've always kind of thought about this when it comes to people who are a little bit reluctant to reveal stuff The media is like it's such a weird thing to ask someone to be so good at sports, right? Which means be have to be single-minded, focused, driven, and then also, oh please, can you also be good at this completely opposite thing, which is like being vulnerable, sharing yourself, being charismatic, being funny, and so the best athletes of all time that we think of are often the people who thread that needle,

right? They have this, but they also have that. And I think it's sometimes hard on the people who don't feel comfortable with this side. And Nellie's often one who sort of, you know, probably has that same kind of thing. Like, hey, like maybe isn't my job to be just good at this? Like, why do I have to do this? And especially with like sport, where you're like, want it to grow

and you want to, you know, young girls to pick it up. I think it's maybe, I don't know if it's unfair, but it is a burden certainly that we've asked someone like Lexi to be like, hey, you should do this. You should do more of that. When it's like, I kind of just like to work on wedges, please. Like I don't really want to go and share myself. And so I don't know. I mean, I, Lexi can be difficult sometimes to deal with from a media perspective, but you know what, like I'm, I've loved watching her in this last ride, enjoy things a little bit and kind of be freed up in almost a little bit of like, you know what, if this is the end, then I'm going to actually like really soak it in and then have fun with it.

Yeah. Yeah. I, I, I was there at Lancaster when she gave her kind of announcement press conference and literally broke down in tears. And honestly, like that was one of the first moments where I really felt badly for her. I like could feel the pain in her voice and you could see how difficult it was for her to even make the announcement in the first place. Like she said, she'd been thinking about it for several years.

So, you know, clearly it took a lot of courage for her to do that. But yeah, like there's a grind in pro golf that we probably will never really understand. It's like the ability to put on that facade and you don't want to let people know what's really going on with you. You just want to be the cover star that she is. So I feel like the Solheim Cup, and I kind of wrote this in the little story that I wrote this afternoon, is it kind of embodies everything that she still loves about golf in a way. So I kind of was embracing that element of this whole thing for her.

Yeah, we say it all the time on this podcast, but the similarities and the audience will know this probably more than than we really realize between Ricky and Lexi and kind of the way that they've gone about it. And it always seemed to be that the marketing and monetization has always outrun kind of the accomplishments, which is a hard place to kind of settle at. And that's not the player's fault. That's the team, that's the manager, that's the agent,

that's everything else that comes around it. You know, they're just doing what they need to do to make money. You know, why not take advantage of it? But it is very interesting. I'll say this. This Solheim Cup and we sit here on Saturday night could not be any more different than sitting in Spain last Saturday night at the Solheimheim. And the way that she has handled media and the way that she has answered questions and I wonder what the change is. And maybe it has to do a little bit with retirement coming. You see a little softening there. But it's definitely interesting. Any insights to that you think? Yeah, I do. That was interesting last year. It's just the funny backstory to that whole

thing, which I don't know if this has been a public thing is I, the only reason why my colleague Alex Maselli asked that question about the shank was because I was back home writing a little aggregate news story for Sports Illustrated about it. So that was kind of my fault, but I'm sorry, Lexi. Well, then our guy Tron kind of, you know, took that to Twitter. He asked it, I thought in a respectful way. Hey, what happened here? Would you like to explain that? I wanted to know what she had to say about it. And Lexi's response was, I don't have to talk about that, which I

think was probably like some therapy speak of like, hey, I don't have to put myself in this position to answer those kind of questions. And you know, like, the immediate reaction of like, Hey, I don't have to put myself in this position to answer those kinds of questions. And you know, like the immediate reaction was like, wait a minute, like how dare you? But you know, like I get her perspective on why she didn't. She's like, I have a job to do and explaining that to you is not it. So, well, she also gladly came up on the stage and answered every other question about being in the arena and all the things that go right, at some point time you kind of expect somebody to fess up to when things don't quite go wrong. That's all we're trying to do is just give our audience, whether that's print or digital

or a podcast, something to provide additional context to this event that we're covering. And she's always just kind of seemed like that is that's not for you to know and it seems like that veil is coming off a little bit now and and I know I hope she finds you know tons of happiness and whatever she's gonna do next not just Lexi fit but everything else you know who knows we'll see Lexi or how much we'll see her but all I know is that she said that she's not gonna have this full time schedule that she's been playing but I I know that we're going to see Lexi Thompson out there still because she loves golf through and through. Keegan, what did we learn about hitting a shank too? It's pretty miserable. But when it happens, well, you just move on to the next shot. Just laugh it off,

right? If Jack Nicklaus can do it, if Tiger Woods can do it, if Rory can do it, you just gotta own it and move on. Yeah, have you made sure your dad's following that advice? We can tell if Dory about the first time I've ever seen him play golf. That's for another time. Any thoughts on who she's playing, Celine Boutier? I'll start. Celine has a, so you know, obviously Solheim records are a big thing. Celine has a better record than I think it's felt like the last two years. So she came into this year five, four and one. She's two and one in three singles matches. She wasn't good last year and, you know, I don't think she's not playing up to like

a top 10 player in the world currently this year either so she's to me somebody that's a bit disappointing honestly on on Aggregate for team Europe both last year and this year again having said that a win tomorrow a singles win You know two and two on the week. It would go a long way to making this a much better appearance in hindsight. That's all I got. Yeah, that's kind of all I got. I haven't even really seen her hit a golf ball this week. But I will say like Lexi's really striping her iron. So I wouldn't be surprised if she has a good match tomorrow.

this week on Lauren and her journey and everything she's been through to get to this moment and now she's three and O and literally just has to be like the happiest person right now. She did her work, she got to sit this afternoon and she was just going around being a teammate, I think soaking it all in. It's so much fun to watch. But that was such a great piece that you had

I appreciate that I I honestly did not know much about Lauren's journey before starting working on that and It is so remarkable what she's done this year I don't think people really understand this but she was a rigged 109th in the world in January and now she's Ranked number 14 and that's probably not even an accurate ranking. Like she's much better than that right now. So the rapid rise that she's seen, and I kind of explain this in the story, but we'll emphasize it more now,

honestly has a lot to do with these little clutch moments that have like propelled her throughout this entire year, like a putt that she made on the 18th hole at Chevron, or the putts that she made on the 18th hole at Chevron or the putts that she made on the back nine in Canada or in Scotland. And we're kind of seeing that now. I forget one of you tweeted this about like her having the clutch kind of gene and we're seeing that she is literally the perfect person for this type of event. Like when she has to step up to the plate and do something like hold a 20 footer to or make a par putt to really like carry on momentum of the

match. She will without a doubt do it. I'm honestly surprised. What number is she in the lineup? She is very close clenched city. So one, two, three. Okay. So yeah, I was going to say I could have seen her out front too. So stuff starts to get tight. You know, you got one of the hottest players right there to sort of step up. Don't forget about the 2021 NIT victory. That's true. Coming back this year to defend. I don't know if that's official yet. You know, we still have a fit, you know, we got a lot going on. She told me it wasn't off the record. Okay.

Cody, let me ask you. Yes. Yeah. Maya Stark. Thoughts there. I mean, she's, she's a battler. She, she's not gonna, you know, she's not going to give this match to Lauren. No, not at all. And just like Lauren, you know, she sat out this afternoon. She, and I know everybody was like, wait a second, Lauren is so hot. Why would you sit her this afternoon? And if you talk, I talked to John this morning and he was like, man, Lauren was kind of gas this morning.

Didn't really have the best warm-up some You know some tired swing swing coaches out there trying to help her obviously adrenaline kicks in and rides her and gets another point and played great this morning, but like She at some point in time she needed to come down and sitting her this afternoon was exactly what was needed And that's the same thing for Maya. You know, I think had a really good first day. They put her out there this morning against uh Lauren and Lexi. Maya paired off with Georgia. They ended up losing four and three but like you know Maya can't... Didn't love that pairing. No and it's a lot. You know she's trying to do a lot by herself and I will say the

shock of this Solheim Cup. We've seen a very strong Swedish pairing not the Swedish pairing that we were expecting I think everybody thought it was gonna be Maya and Lynn again and what we ended up seeing was the uber successful Anna and Madeline Seggstrom, so I You know Maya is a match played dog. She's very much like TC Yeah, not gonna give anything away and I tomorrow, I know LC is the exact same way. This is going to be a hell of a match. Yeah. Yeah, it will be. The only other thing I can say, I was asking Lauren a little bit, it's like, what was been the funnest part of this for you? And she's like, honestly, like getting to know all these other girls, like I wasn't that good at, I mean, I'm sort of paraphrasing

bit, but she was like, I wasn't like one of the highest ranked players in junior golf. These girls have all known each other for their whole lives. They played on junior Ryder Cup, junior Swalheim Cup, whatever. This is my first time ever really like being with them. And that's been such a fun thing for her to just get to soak that up. And that's, that makes me excited for her to get to experience that. That's a, that's great. Yeah, great insight there. All right, Cody. I think we're match nine here Yeah, the next person another United States major champion and Lilia Vue Obviously, I was kind of concerned with her coming into this after the heartbreak at st. Andrews, but clearly in good form

She's gonna be playing against somebody who we haven't seen that much at all and Albon D'Alenzuela so Remember last year in singles somebody who we haven't seen that much at all and Albon, Dallin Zweila. So remember last year in singles, Lillia went out against Madeline and it was like in danger of being like nine, eight, eight, seven. I fear for Albon. She might be in for the same tomorrow. Uh, Lillia, I don't know, Lillia's record. She's one in two this week. She was one in three last year.

Like it's not great, but I still think Lilia, like maybe out of all 24 women here, she would be amongst the top one, two that I have trust in a singles match. She's, she's got that it about her. She's ultra competitive. I think it's going to be a long short day, but a long day for Albon tomorrow. Yeah totally with you. I can see that being like a seven six situation or something along those lines. Well Albon we talked about this earlier and Randy we've been doing BBC radio each day and we'll do some BBC radio again tomorrow but Albon she's we haven't seen her since the opening

session on Friday. Had plenty of time to rest. She's in the same bucket with the with the Leona McGuire. Yeah. Don't really know what's going on there outside of happening. Not the best form. Well, that's what we're going. I don't know if it's that or just like Suzanne's going to play. Who she trusts and Albon's a rookie. She was a

captain's pick, but you know, she's in turn if you're going to talk about like, you know, their spot on the team, no offense to Albond, but she's probably down, you know, she's one of the last members of the team. And I just think Suzanne- And she's pulled out at the AIG. And she did. Yeah, it's taken nothing away from her. But I just think in the end, like Suzanne, especially when the chips are, you know, down and she's got her back against the wall, she's going to go down with who she really trusts. And that's Emily, that's Carlotta, that's Charlie. And yeah, we'll see Albon tomorrow. She'll be very rested.

Yeah, so I'm looking at the transcript just out of curiosity And someone someone did ask about Leona McGuire and what's going on with her? this I just skimming here, but this is a quote a quote that I Am seeing off the top of my head Unfortunately up until now Leona hasn't kind of been I don't know the rock that I was kind of hoping for So I wonder what's going on there. I have some insight into this too, I think. I was talking to a European journalist, so

we'll not name because we didn't talk about what we were going to talk about this year, but they were saying that if you look back in the first press conference of the week, that Leona sort of said something like, yeah, we're going to retain in Spain, but there were some things that weren't quite right or weren't quite up to what they needed to be or whatever. And they were thinking like, I wonder if Suzanne really did not appreciate that sentiment. Now they did say in the presser that Luna had her wrist taped

and so someone was asking like, what's going on there? And I think they were kind of, Mel Reed was joking like, I think she just likes tan lines. Like it's not really anything to do with it. So could be injury, could be like, things aren't great between her and her captain. That's tough. There's some tension in the in the room there. It's like being the third wheel at a sleepover when you're a

kid. Nobody really see there like that's horrible man. I don't know. I mean, I it's shocking though. Again, we're not really talking about Leona right now we're talking about Alvall and I think, you know, if you look at it form is Again, we're not really talking about Leona right now. We're talking about Albani. And I think, you know, if you look at it, form is definitely the case here. Granted, I think it's just, you know, Captain Pedersen, she had her team set. And I think when it came to captain's pick, she knew no matter what she was going to pick Anna.

And I think the other one, she just kind of let him go and we know Emily fits in very well there and there's already you know she already had the pairings played out in her head I just think this is just kind of how the week is is working out there but you talked about the free train of lily of ooh and match play and I think that could be coming down the tracks tomorrow. Next match, finally, former young hitter, Madeline Seggstrom, who's walled out so far all the way up until this morning with another rookie, somebody who parried with Lauren so far in Sarah Schmezl.

That's, yeah, that's interesting. I think it's a great opportunity for both of them. It's Madeline, she's at. I think it's a great opportunity for both of them. It's, um, Madeline, she's at her best. She's historically been at her best in singles in Solheim Cups and Sarah, this is obviously her first opportunity. She had a great day one, didn't get a point today. I'd be very curious there. I don't have a ton to add beyond that, I guess. Yeah, me neither.

I mean, Madeline's looked really good this week, honestly. So Madeline's streaky too. Like when she gets hot, she's a little out of it. She can make birdies and bunches. She can also make like big numbers. It's okay. Yeah.

It's going to be like what Madeline shows up, I think a little bit tomorrow. All right. Uh, we're getting to, we got two matches left. We're firmly in clinch territory. And I'll say we're, we're like, especially on the U S team here, we're finally coming to Ali Ewing, who hasn't had the best run in this Solheim Cup going up against Leona McGuire and I will say I'm pretty sure Leona tapes her wrists all the time. I think that's one of the things and the other thing that I'll say is that Leona, you know, she started out this year playing great. She ended up, she beat or lost to Nelly at the T-Mobile match play at Las Vegas. That's her only top 10 of the year. And then she really got super sick, right around us women's open into like almost all a June and July. She got the flu and that developed into something else. We saw her at the Olympics. I

mean, she had a couple of rounds in the 80s. Just not good. And you kind of thought once we made it to St. Andrews, you know you know, she was finding better form and she's just been playing a lot. You know, she played the Scottish, she played the AIG women's open, she played the Irish and then she comes here and it's just kind of not the Leona that we're used to in this event. Oh, it's shocking. I think going back to 2021, she burst on the scene last year. She was the real key for team Europe.

And if you would have told me two weeks ago, Cody, or when we were in Scotland for the AIG, like, Hey, Leona is going to play one session going into singles. I'd be like, Oh my God, what happened? Uh, but that's where we are. Allie Ewing, poor Allie Ewing is on, I believe a six match losing streak. Uh, she's just had a tough time of it with Solheim Cup results. There's something about Allie Ewing where I still trust her. I think her game and her demeanor is suited for this event.

It's just a combination of just not making putts at the right time or hitting one squirrely shot or quite honestly, just getting beat a few times too. something we'll have to give in that match tomorrow. I feel like she she was paired with Lexi when I was watching I feel like she didn't really look that comfortable honestly. Yeah. Like we on the 14th green she had the I think Lexi three putted that for par and like it was an eagle putt three putted for par and then so did the two European girls and Ali had a four footer left to win the hole and she missed it.

And I was just like, Oh man, like this, this girl, she needs to get comfortable. She just feels a little, Bill Parcell said, eventually you are what your record says. I know, I know. a little nervous. Bill Parcell said, eventually you are what your record says. You are. I know. I know. I think it's like, and now we're working with a big enough sample here where you're exactly right. KBV.

Maybe it's like a, maybe she can show up at the last second sort of thing. I mean, I gotta say I I'm sorry to interrupt. I don't love saving one of your best players for the last. Oh really? I just I know everybody thinks like oh if you need that person, they're there but also like if you don't get to that last spot, it's like you've wasted that person entirely like I just you know they all it's the few times that the US S would like put tiger out

last, I always thought, man, then what a waste, get him out there early and make him like, you know, kind of deliver a hammer blow early. And if, if you still believe what you should, that Lynn is one of your best players and get her out there and cover kick ass and then put the pressure on the US desert. You, you figure out the backend when you figure it out, the momentum is going to carry you to that spot. I don't know what if you end up just leading on someone who just can't make the

buy? Then you ask someone to rise to the occasion. I just always, I'm not, I know there's, that's what makes this stuff fascinating is there's no real right answer to it because everything has a counter argument, but I just love like putting your best players when they're in the heat of it and then saying, you know what, like if someone needs to rise to the moment, I think I'll believe that they will. I mean, I throw Linda McGuire in the back and be like, yo, you've been

playing poorly, but if it comes down to you, I feel like I got enough trust in you, but right now I got to go with the people who are going to get me to you. And if I don't get to you, what does it matter? Maybe when is like the in-between option. Like she, she has it in her, hasn't necessarily shown up this week, but could. So save her for last, just in case it comes down to four. Some of it's probably like, are you down four? Well, then you, if you're going to win it all, it's going to come down to the 12th match.

So if you're down two, maybe it's a different calculation. Yeah. I think the thing about Lynn is that, you know, last year was the first full year that she played on the LPGA tour. She had an LPGA card wrapped up way before that, but of course COVID and travel restrictions and everything very famously unvaccinated, refused to get vaccines to meet travel requirements. But when she finally came over, you know, it didn't take her long to win on the LPGA Tour. She won a boatload on the LET before coming but they did you know from her camp this this winter

She made a change. She usually hit This really tight draw with almost everything she's known for her power and her accuracy and she decided to change it because when she came over to the LPGA there's a lot of courses that she thought wait a second I don't have enough room to be able to work this draw the way that I like it and get it to land soft on these big firmer greens that they're playing. So they instituted trying to hit a fade.

And ever since then, she's just kind of been out of sorts. It's not her at all. She's given up length. She used to be way up there in driving distance and accuracy, her ball striking his way down, and she has a two-way miss, her short game barely has been able to save her. I'm laughing.

It's just not a good recipe. No. It's not a good recipe. It's a very disappointing year for her. I honestly didn't know that. And just looking at her golf swing, I don't understand how that would make any sense. Right. Yeah.

I mean, she's such a powerful player and we talked yesterday about the likes of Emily Christine Pederson and Nellie Corda and you know these bombers that are out here taking advantage of this golf course You know because yeah, it's pretty wide open and you got to be really accurate if you want to take on those lines But you are very rewarded if you are and we've seen specifically Emily and Nellie pounce on those opportunities. And that's the golf that Lynn used to play. And now she just, she doesn't have the accuracy for it. And it's kind of, it's sad to see. Yeah, it is.

She's been probably the biggest disappointment of the Solheim Cup for me. Like I, I was expecting good things from her. I had thought she had perhaps found something. She battled in the elements and St. Andrews had a top 10 there, but you know, she's played three matches so far is 0 and three and has only seen the 15th hole in one of them. Like it's she's been involved in some blowouts.

Yeah, it's just not, it's not becoming. Coaches out there. Don't try to talk your player into changing from a draw to a fade. Just ride that draw forever. Imagine if Rory had just ridden that hard draw for a decade. What a world. So I'm going to move on to our next segment. But I do want to say this Keegan, unfortunately you cannot take part of this segment because

I will say, you know, 2015, the US was down 10 to 6 over in Europe and they mounted what was the biggest comeback in Solheim Cup history. They won 14.5, 13 13 and a half. So there is precedent and Europe gets their chance tomorrow to do the same thing. So we'll see. I wouldn't take Europe to win though. That's not a good bet. Well, congratulations, Mr. Solomon. I hope he goes and casts that big old check that he got, but our internal points, I see in the agenda, you've total or you've tallied our points. We drafted. We got a big day tomorrow.

I haven't even gone through and look and see. Hopefully some of these points aren't canceling themselves out. No, it's all attached to the individual player, but you're right. We'll have to kind of do the math and see who's playing who and how many points are even available to us all. So, a true game within the game situation tomorrow

for no stakes internal player draft. Yeah, talk about no stakes. I wanna talk about something that's high stakes real quick here. And we don't gotta dig too deep into it, but yesterday there was a lot of hubbub about transportation, logistics, everything else. We were greeted with a kind of a attention call to action.

Everybody all available press be in the media center at 930 for the commissioner to come in. Randy, can you kind of set the stage from there? Yeah. And I mean, this was really the story of yesterday, the logistical disaster that was the shuttle situation particularly in the morning so we all were like hey we need to hear from Commissioner Molly and we did this morning so I want to read I won't read she she had a whole big statement she took questions you can find that transcript I'm sure online if

you want to read through it all but I wanted to pick out just a couple of highlights from her statement, just to, you know, because we spent a long time talking about it yesterday. So let's start with, on the question of what exactly went wrong, I'll quote Commissioner Molly Marcuse-Saman. It wasn't terribly difficult to diagnose. I think most importantly, there weren't enough buses. In the staggering of the buses, we had additional buses coming on

throughout the course of the morning, but they weren't at the right time. There was more traffic than we anticipated, than our team anticipated in the morning, given rush hour. The staging and the loading out, it was not efficient. It wasn't sufficient or efficient. We just didn't have enough manpower out there to first of all load the fans But also to handle the questions and the comments as they were coming through

I think all of that was with all of those things compounded The bathrooms were a mess and those weren't being handled as time went on That's really what the fundamental issue was obviously the first team first tee experience was not what we had hoped. I think there were more fans waiting at the staging area at Jiffy Lube Live. I think the energy was still great and the players, their energy was fantastic. But it certainly was not what we anticipated. And we recognize that. So as we move on, I'll take this.

I don't think we need to go word for word through this whole thing. That was a very good. I think there were some important things because we were like, we need to hear from Molly and we need to hear her own this. And so I want to at least give her the credit of these are her words. It was a very powerful opening statement. I will say that. But go ahead.

Because I think once we opened it up to the question and answer portion of it, that's where, you know, the statement kind of stood on its own. And there wasn't a lot of follow up there outside of yeah, you know, it's my fault. I'll continue to own it. Right. So I think there were two big questions that kind of tacked on to the original issue. And one was where does this total breakdown like where does the responsibility lie? And to that question,

Molly said, I don't want to get into exactly who the details of the responsibility at the end of the day, I'm the leader of this organization and I have to own it. We have a tournament team that runs all of this, but I'm sitting up here in front of you guys as the leader of the LPGA and I need to own that. So again, credit her. I respect that. I respect that too. No deflection. There's really nothing else to say, but like credit, like yes, you do have to own it. On

the lack of messaging yesterday, because that was another issue, like where were the comms throughout the day? She said, we certainly weren't trying to avoid the questions. We were trying to be transparent, but I think at the end of the day, we really needed to move into sort of triage mode and figure out how to solve the problems. And obviously, I'm addressing the transportation challenges that we had yesterday morning. So in one sense, I get it. I totally get it. It was a complete red alert, all hands on deck. But I do think there had to be a little bit better messaging yesterday. I don't want to, you know, I still think it was, it was lacking. So credit to her, her big thing yesterday, the LPGA's message, Hey, listen,

we, we, we, we hear you, we see you, we are making changes. And today, everybody I talked to today was a fantastic, smooth experience shuttling people. So they fixed the problem. Again, there should have never been a problem, but it has been addressed. I would say anybody listening, if you are thinking about coming out, if you have tickets tomorrow, like you can trust it will be a seamless operation getting from parking on site. I don't, I can't testify whether this is 100% true or not, but our shuttle driver

told us that they took to having the police shut down the entire street when they were unloading and unloading buses for the parking lots. So that there wouldn't be like a huge like backup and cluster F essentially. So they were clearly, they reacted to be like, okay, like we're going to do something here. We're going to get the local police to help us out.

I guess I would throw it Gabby, Cody, whoever wants to take this. I mean these are the comments again I guess my issue is yes I think she said the right things I would have loved this to have come at almost some point yesterday I realized they had their hands full but I still think like hey you got to get some type of messaging out there yesterday. What do you guys think? Yeah, I was surprised by the, you know, 9.30 a.m. in the media center, Molly's coming in. I mean, like, don't we want to focus on golf now?

Like, this is kind of, you know, they kind of were like kicking themselves down a little bit by putting it there, but they had to. She had to come in and speak. I feel like I was talking to one media member about this that maybe we expected her to sound a little bit more upset about the whole situation. But my read on it was that she's just sounded more like exhausted and just tired of, honestly, probably like,

I placed a lot of blame on her, but there's clearly a system and like infrastructure that is deeply flawed. And like she even said in the transcript at some point that they don't have a huge team. So like the amount of people they had literally to deal with this issue was limited. And that's it's an LPGA problem that it's been around forever. Like the website until like two weeks ago was horrible. There has been so many issues with like marketing their players properly on social media. There's a lot of things that the LPGA has to learn from and grow. And this was just like the most blatant example because it affected all their fans and their

biggest moment probably to date in the Solheim Cup. Well, it made national headlines. Yeah, ESPN alert. The worst thing that you possibly can do. I I say you hit the nail on the head and I think, you know, you're live tweeting and you everybody please go check out Gabby's Twitter because she does a really good rundown of it. Jordan just flashed it up on the screen a little bit ago, but props to her for owning it. But there seems to be this overall lack of transparency when it comes to communication from the LPGA tour. And it is not specifically a Mali thing because not everything should come from the CEO. That's why you have lieutenants, that's why you have a COO, that's why you have a CMO. And all these people that run down that your staff. I don't understand when things like this that tend to happen more than any other tour to the LPGA, why is it always we're waiting for Molly? And I understand that like, you won't you don't want to put a statement out that that is not going to be correct. Right.

And but they do that anyway, you know, they had to leave the tweets last night, and then wordings and sentences removed and free tickets taken out of it. And then you're like, that just makes it even worse. Like, what is going on from an operational standpoint that these things continue to mess up? You know, I think that's my big question here. And I think honestly, it comes back down to transparency. Yeah, I think there's definitely a little bit of like hiding what's going on behind the scenes sort of going on like they're it's a little bit embarrassing. Well which makes me like I don't know it could just truly be as boring as like they are just stretched so thin exactly there's a lack

of resources yeah like how do you just come out and say that right like you can't really just come out and say that? Right? Like you can't really just come out and say that. So to your point, it kind of seems like, well, we got to kind of skirt around the elephant in the room. And so, yeah, it's, I don't know, it's, it's disappointing. But you, I'll say this, they fixed it. There were plenty of buses out there. I saw people said, yeah, we waited for the most two maybe ten minutes Yeah for the next bus It was amazing and I understand people were out here that the state or the the bleachers were packed and everybody chanting and cheering

We saw amazing golf. Everything was great. I love for us out here because you know, NBC coverage is always horrible So I like the fact that we have sky input in there. I, you know, I love that we have, you know, new personalities. We have Iona out on course and everything else like that all the way up until the last hole of this day. And they decided to bump it from NBC to golf channel with one hole remaining. Like, so we sit here and look at NB, you know, not just NBC, but the LPGA Tour and this partner who is paying for these rights and they ultimately have, you know, the control to move it to whatever channel that they have.

But like, what are we doing, man? You're only asking for one hole here. We literally asked for 15, 10, 15 minutes of airtime and we got pushed to local news. I'll only note that, so the TV window went till 6 p.m. Eastern. The last match was over officially at 6.27. I only note that because the pairings are then due within an hour of that. So for our live show purposes, we had flagged 6.27.

So you're talking about not even a half hour of extended. So for our live show purposes, we had flag 627. So you're talking about not even a half hour of extended coverage on NBC. And I think just to compound that is while the Solheim cup was still going on on NBC, Golf Channel had kind of started in with their, what would have been like a recap studio show, Brandle and Lizette Salas, that was playing on Golf Channel. And so when the golf is still going on NBC, like nobody's going to be watching golf channel, they kicked the golf over to golf channel. Obviously they're not going to do the recap show. And then once that match concluded, there's no like golf channel recap show.

So we hope all those people are watching our live show. Like the only live like reaction recap show that happened after again, uh, the marquee event on the LPGA tour. It's just there's, it's not good, but we know all this. Like we've, if you've listened to this, like this is not new, but this, so we talk about majors and we talk about, uh, other, you know, corporations and sponsors and everything that's tied to them and different host organization. This is the LPGA tours, premier event.

Yeah, absolutely. If something was going to change on the LPGA tour side, when it comes to their contract with their television partner, this would be it. Yeah. And I don't even think solid just put in the chat. They they went off the golf at 607. Yeah, from NBC, right? They and again, it was like they needed 20 extra minutes and they couldn't give them that. That's it's, yeah. I wouldn't have thought there was a football game on me. You tell me they went to local news. That's even crazy. Yeah. No, no. I can report nor name it already kicked. Like it wasn't an order game game. It, it,

yeah. And that's like ignoring the fact that there's literally only four matches that are out there. You know, we're not talking about a lot of golf balls you have to track and like we're missing shots. If I got a nibble for everybody that tweeted at me about the missed shots when we were like, listen, I hear you. I know, I know. This is the true like welcome to the party. This is this has been happening for years and years. It's totally frustrating.

The funny part about that column actually is I just wanted a quote from someone on the European side and I went up to Laura Davies and asked her about the prospect of a time breaker and kind of used the term that the Americans have been using this week about unfinished business and she said something along the lines of they only got 14 points. The business was finished. It was a great quote. So that was a fun one. Yeah, she is the best. Well, thank you. It means the world to us.

I picked US to win at the beginning of the week. I said 14 and a half, 13 and a half. I'm gonna stick with that. I think it's gonna be close.
