Starting point is 00:00:00 Be the right club. Be the right club today. Johnny, that's better than most. How about the end? That is better than most. Better than most. Expect anything different. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the NoLayingUp Podcast, a somewhat emergency NoLayingUp live show. We are live over here on the NLU Podcast YouTube channel. TGL exists. We are now in a post TGL world. We're going to get into all kinds of things. We've got TC here to break it down. Tron, thank you for having us in your mother's basement. Always good to be blogging from here.
Starting point is 00:01:03 Always great to have you guys. Long live Pisa. Highlight of the night. TC two arms raised with a spear cable. This is going to be a very pro Pisa garage tonight. I have a feeling you heard Sally's voice. Sally's here. Greetings. So stoked guys. And the guy who was, he was pointing out all the new sponsors, all the business deals that was going on. NG shoe, Neil Schuster. A lot to discuss. I would like to start with, what do you have to say for your New York
Starting point is 00:01:27 golf club? I'd never pledged my allegiance and I'm glad I didn't. I held out. This is such bullshit. No, I would never root for the big market team. I'm a small market jukeling. There was an algorithm picking your team and you can't discount them. You're the data guy. You're the data guy. Don't care.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Before we get too carried away, I would like to start by paying some bills and saying thank you to our friends at Roeback. You all know Roeback best fit, best feel. It's a new year. Still love Roeback. Still love the Roeback hoodie, as you can see here. One of our favorite pieces in the closet. Simple as that.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Trust us if you haven't already. 2025 is the year for you to try a Roeback hoodie. Roeac also just released their new Fulton Hybrid Jackets. Another one. Neil's got another jacket on. It's just always, man. I've been talking about this one. I never got to wear it. There you go. I've never gotten new outerwear coming out of Robac.com. Also the Q-Zips. Don't sleep on them. Very clean, comfortable, perfect, versatile layer for cooler days like we discovered here in Jacksonville where it's officially uh Florida cold
Starting point is 00:02:26 today. A lot of blue. A lot of going on. Yeah, I think that's that's part of the course. We kind of look like a New York G buddy. You know, we're not trying to step out too much on a day to day right now. It's kind of cold in the garage. Trying to shrink the decisions on a daily basis. If you haven't already, it's time to load up on Robak. Use code NLU on Robak.com for a generous 20% off your first order through the end of the week.
Starting point is 00:02:48 That is robak, R-H-O-B-A-C-K dot com. 20% off all jackets, q-zips, hoodies, and more with code NLUTC. I'm gonna go to you first. We've been talking TGL for a long time. You take it in any direction you want. How are we? Did it slap? Did it slap? One or zero? It was a one. It was a one. It slapped. The slapping diminished, I think, as we went along
Starting point is 00:03:14 after about seven or eight holes. I thought the intermission was long. We'll just get the DJ Khaled stuff right out. That sucked. Truly another one. Yeah. And then he bombed Ludwig's post-game interview on Van Pelt. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here.
Starting point is 00:03:30 I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here.
Starting point is 00:03:38 I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're here. The conditioning was off for me. They soaked it. The tour water, the metaverse conditioning was a little soft for me as well, TC.
Starting point is 00:03:49 I'm glad you beat me. Yeah, but no, overall I thought it was the technology works. The little whip thing that raised up on a bunker shot was crazy. And what an ass kicking. Like an ass kicking to remember. I think New York Golf Club is who we thought they were. Soly, what was your impression?
Starting point is 00:04:10 Man, I was just so impressed with like, I thought it was gonna get off to an awkward start and it was not awkward. It felt rehearsed, it felt thought out. It felt like all the details I was worried about, I totally thought they were stuck in between, are we a fun banter show or are we a competitive golf event? And they are in a way better, they are stuck in between
Starting point is 00:04:30 those in a way better way than I could have pictured. I didn't, the competition was entertaining, I didn't really care actually who won, I think that stuff will maybe build over time, but like. Said like a true New Yorker. It moves so fast that there wasn't any long silences or spots where the players had to carry the audio to lead to that awkward banter. I don't think the dynamic is perfect between the booth and the players and all that, but
Starting point is 00:04:54 man, it just went fast. It was just really interesting. My biggest takeaway was having Scott Van P like interviewing Ludwig before and like having golf on like a very real stage on ESPN at night. Like golf kind of just exists in this other little ecosystem. I don't really watch that much sports center, but I don't think like PGA tour, like rounds make sports center very often. I like putting golf on like in front of like sports fans instead of just off on its side felt like a massive win. I did not, I was, I was like pro this, I was supportive of this, I was excited for it. I thought there was a lot to be excited about. I didn't picture it being feeling like that big of a win on night one.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Neil, win or lose? Uh, I would say it was a win for sure. Uh, what about as, as good as it could for his, you know, let's, I would say it is a bit of a gimmick, uh, but it's Tuesday, January 7th, right? It's Florida cold here. It's just regular, regular, regular, regular know, let's, I would say it is a bit of a gimmick, but it's Tuesday, January 7th, right? It's Florida cold here. It's just regular old reason as cold everywhere else. Like easy thing to watch inoffensive. Um, I enjoyed it. I
Starting point is 00:05:56 think that the, uh, alt shot format was much better than the singles format. Lost a ton of steam for me. I think even if it was a close match, I thought the way that the alt shot rolls, you can almost sense some of the players losing interest when they weren't playing, like trying to be like a good teammate. But that's when it gets a little cringy. Yeah. When it's like, Oh, like, let me hold the flag for you. It's like they don't know what to do with themselves. They don't have a club in their hand. That may have been a reflection of the score. Like maybe the singles would have been better if it was closer. I'll give them a couple of weeks on that. Like I'll watch next week, right? So if you say one or zero, I'll definitely watch next week. We were talking about this morning, though. We've struggled with the signature events. They don't look any different. Not even the graphics are different. And this, like exactly what you said, like SVP adds gravitas. You know, they, you know, good on ESPN for that. They need this to work. They wanted to work, but it felt like a big deal. And I think that was a collection of a lot of little things that they did to get off on the right foot. So I would say it was a good first impression is what I was left with. I think I aligned with a lot of what you guys are saying. I don't need to rehash a lot of the good stuff. I think some of the places where it was lacking was, yeah, just it kind of lost juice maybe in that second half and just started to like, I say this as not a compliment, started to
Starting point is 00:07:13 feel like a golf broadcast. You get the DJ Khaled thing, you get that we've sold every element of this thing. You get all the commercials. KPMG performance insights. Where'd that come from? And it starts to kind of become like, actually I'll just go do something else, nevermind. But for the first 20, 30 minutes, I was like, Jesus, this is- It was captivating.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Electric. Guys, this is gonna be crazy coming from me. I need more data. I know. I need more yardages. I need more ball speed stuff. I need like a heat map or grid lines on the green, especially when the ball is landing, like on approach shots because otherwise you have no idea how
Starting point is 00:07:48 the ball is gonna react or what you're looking at there and I'm sure all that's on the way and that they're gonna bake that in but that was part of it of like man if this is really like the future golf league man it like infuse it with all sorts of data and just kind of inputs. We can get kind of nitpicky on a lot of stuff too, but I don't think you need the view from behind the whole way down. On a normal golf broadcast, they'll
Starting point is 00:08:17 switch to a tower cam behind to show a ball landing. I just don't think that view is very dynamic, or the ball needs to roll more with the firmness. Ball's out of the rough. I was weirdly captivated when the ball was in the air on the approach shots. I don't know why, just different strokes maybe. But every time. The angle was just kind of weird,
Starting point is 00:08:36 but that just could be me. I guess maybe because there was so much shit that they had to carry, and there's so many bunkers and stuff that I was almost leaning a little closer to the screen on like, ooh, like, eh. Ludwig shot, I think was almost the most interesting shot on the night. I don't know if that was the, what was that, the second hole, third hole?
Starting point is 00:08:51 That was on the, the first big piece of hole, right? Your plunder. Yeah, where he's trying to, Pick your plunder. That was the Georgia O'Keeffe hole. The very Georgia O'Keeffe hole, yeah. Where he was trying to, he's trying to carry that one bunker
Starting point is 00:09:03 and it barely hits the top. I was like, I don't know, you're kind of like doing the math in your head. I'm like, Ooh, is it going to make it? Is it not going to make it? I think that was kind of cool. Does it move too quick? Oh, that was my fear after the media day being down there was, Hey, I think there are points where you almost want to hear like everything that wasn't the golf almost felt like it was detracting. And you don't want that to be the case.
Starting point is 00:09:23 I think that's the thing. I think that are points where you almost want to hear, like everything that wasn't the golf almost felt like it was detracting, and you don't want that to be the case. I think there needs to be a couple of windows, or they need to use that intermission more effectively, because I feel like it was so quick, the first 45 minutes to an hour,
Starting point is 00:09:39 and then the second hour got a lot slower. And that could be attributed to like going to Tiger, going to Rory, it felt slower. Like they're still playing the same pace, but like I was into it when it was going fast. I'm just kinda like, you know. It leaves you wanting more. Yeah, I do not think it was too slow.
Starting point is 00:09:55 My, I guess, I'm sorry, too fast. The last, I guess two years of this being rolled out, my biggest concern was there's gonna be dead periods. You're gonna ask these guys to be comedians. They're not gonna be funny. The banter of the trash talk is gonna suck. I did not get any of that. And so that was like, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:16 So that was, you know, I just wanted, I didn't wanna pre say this was awesome. Do you know what I mean? Like just let me see the product. And it was a lot different than I expected in a good way. Somebody tweeted this and I quoted it as well. It was like a big key to like making entertaining. Those guys look like they're having fun. Dude, it's been so long since I feel like I've sat down and like had a fun time watching golf. And this is not and this is important to get on the record. I think is like this is not the same as watching
Starting point is 00:10:42 Thursday or Sunday at the Amex, right? And that's I'm almost like, when Tiger's on there and he's like, you know, this is, people need to understand this is real golf. I was like, no, dude, it's not. It's not real golf. And that's fine. And that's great. That's why I think I'm having a fun time. That's why it's going to work. Like the stakes are so low, man. Like, please. And that's where it felt like you're at these dudes bowling night or at a par
Starting point is 00:11:08 three course under the lights with them and they're just having fun being competitive with one another in a lighthearted way and then that probably turns into no this is actually real competition if this thing gets like that's one thing we didn't get tonight was like a close match. I know. Can I give some you know, I think we've been Glowing not you know, we've been pretty glowing our praise few things. I need to see If you'll enjoy me, of course, but the uniforms stunk lack of uniforms I mean just I thought that was a massive miss a disgrace They matched up colors, but you see we were saying saying. Like where's some freaking basketball shorts change up?
Starting point is 00:11:45 Like what a headband. Yeah. It's week one. They might. That's around logos on a t-shirt, you know, I don't know. The juke team should come out and tank tops, you know, like beach volleyball shorts and tank tops with other logos sponsored on to, you know, I thought if you it's on your slide, big, big
Starting point is 00:12:02 expectations for the ref. When we did the handshake at the beginning. Completely forgotten man. What a fucking forgotten man he was. They're asking for a ruling. Gentlemen, please shake hands. Hey, so where's the hammer? Can I not hammer? Ref's nowhere to be found. You know, get out in front of that. Like they need to empower the referee. Slugger would never. I didn't like that. No Mark Russell. They didn't show Mark Russell. I'm going to say. I'm'm gonna do the best job in golf. I can't remember the DJ's name, but-
Starting point is 00:12:27 DJ Irie. I mean, it seemed like he had a tight eight song track. I don't know, do you think that was like, we've cleared these songs to be used on broadcast TV? DMX as a state must have done a deal. Because I swear to God, X was gonna give it to us. And I think X did give it to us. He was- X got gone.
Starting point is 00:12:44 He was matching up songs. He was playing Oasis for Fitzpatrick. He was a little too on the nose with some of the... You too for Shane Lowry. But then he just kept replaying the same fucking song. It's like, did they tell him to play that? Did the players tell him to play that? If so, we need to take the chains off the DJ
Starting point is 00:12:58 because the soundtrack got old. Can I say that the environment of like crowd cheering, like anticipation when the shot clock was coming loud, coming up and like just the music playing while hitting, works in an environment like this. Insert live comment, I'm sure, but like it worked in that environment, like creating a stadium atmosphere
Starting point is 00:13:16 is kind of what is gonna separate this thing out as well. Yeah, I mean, I have no idea if the people in the stadium had any idea what was going on. Right. Because they can't hear any of the players or anything that's going on. All they can hear is BMC. I was because of how fast it moved. I think that prevented some awkward because there were times when it felt like the crowd
Starting point is 00:13:36 was like, oh, should we go get a beer? You know, that's kind of the deal. And there wasn't enough. There's also a separate separate. Let's go get a beer. I'd like to get a little bit more camera angle of like, is there a way to show them swinging with the crowd involved?
Starting point is 00:13:50 Maybe they intentionally didn't do that, where it was like, you can kinda hear them. Have context almost. Yeah, yeah, like sometimes at golf tournaments, it's nice when you can see people behind the golfers. I almost say like, could they, I guess they can't cause of the green zone. They can't bring the fans in that close,
Starting point is 00:14:06 but I didn't get a sense of any fans other than some auxiliary noise. Well, and the fans of the metaverse that weren't there. That pissed me off too. That was my last piece of feedback. Why the fuck are we putting hospitality tents up with no people, no people in it? That's such an opportunity. But like metaversians, all you could, you could some, like what PTI, what Wilbon and Kornheiser do with the like faces, they'll just put random people's faces out there.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Such an opportunity. You don't even have to limit, I mean you put Thomas Edison in there. You do whatever you want, you put aliens. I mean it's metaversians, anything you want. Give me some AI generations, what a miss. Not to mention the potential for TIO in that setting. I thought we were gonna get it.
Starting point is 00:14:45 On the spear. I don't know. Or just get rid of the hospitality. They're disgracing Pisa's work by putting the hospitality tents in. And you know what, surprising? The only thing that wasn't sponsored were the hospitality tents.
Starting point is 00:14:57 I'm surprised they didn't put business solvers. I was gonna say, watching golf with Neil is so funny because you're watching the golf office, and there's a tiny logo up there. What is business? So that's a new one for me. Well, that was that was actually one of the things tonight. This is the first time we've seen Ricky, you know, Grant Thornton out Ernst and Young in a little makeover. Yeah. It was, you know, we had that I think I do wonder like I said, he's looking like Rick Vaughn a triple header classes are a triple header in week nine or whatever. Wait between like you got like, that's scantley Lucas
Starting point is 00:15:32 Glover and Kisner like trying to interact with one another versus say Tom Kim, like there could be some really cringe shit. We're so early in this. Tom Kim's gonna be all hyped up. He's gonna be a hyper sugar. I'm gonna say Tom Kim. Like, there could be some really cringe **** We're we're so early in this. Tom Kim's gonna be all hyped up. He's gonna be a hyper too much sugar running around. Lucas Glover, you're gonna throw the hammer? I won't to. I've never thrown it. I've thrown the hammer yet. I won't to. I think the players need to understand the hammer a lot
Starting point is 00:15:59 better going into it. Horrible hammer strategy out there. I mean, we had we had GH and the boys from Greenville Country Club texting us tonight like he should hammer here. You hold the hammer. Yeah it was a lot of a lot of moving parts. A lot of things that are gonna be tight and that's for sure. It can build. Exactly. Guys TGL is here and it's changing the game.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Changing everything. Would you guys agree with that? Yeah I've heard about how disruptive it is. Honestly yes. And FanDuel is your ticket to every swing, every putt, every clutch moment bet on head-to-head matchups, live bet as the action unfolds, predict hole-by-hole outcomes, and so much more. Next week is match number two, LA, my beloved, my beloved LAGC against Jupiter Lynx.
Starting point is 00:16:43 My squad. I'm claiming them. They're the biggest underdogs. I'm claiming them. After his New York squad just got boat race tonight. You going to lay some cash down on Jupiter Lynx? 100%. Also, it does kind of feel like a fun thing to bet on. By the way, I warned everybody on Twitter. I said, hey, the Bay Golf Club is radically, radically undervalued. I know. I know.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Can you see the algo pick the Bay for both of us? Yeah. You are the biggest underdog in the world. I said, hey, like the Bay Golf Club is radically, radically undervalued. I know. I know. I would see the algo. Pick the Bay for both of us. Yeah. You are never out of the game, TC. And best of all, when you win, you get paid instantly. So don't just watch history. Bet on it with America's number one sportsbook.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Visit FanDuel dot com slash NLU to get started. FanDuel, the official partner of TGL, must be 21 or older, 18 or over in DC and present in select states gambling problem call 1-800 gambler or visit rg-help.com. What else? What else is kind of rolling around the mind here? Last thing I'll say is you could talk me into like once this first season is over, I might not even need the pros. I think it'd be pretty compelling to watch like five
Starting point is 00:17:49 to 10 handicappers playing for big money, like on that, in that arena. You could put that on, you know, that doesn't have to be on network TV, but that's interesting. You could put a husband and wife. And mainly because it's so much easier to broadcast from there,
Starting point is 00:18:04 so I feel like you get a lot more experimental with some low stakes ideas in an arena like that. So it's an interesting space. I guess that's the point of what I'm saying. Also a quick shout out to how they involved some of the little banter stuff with quick rewinds of just like five second conversations, but that didn't make it on air live of like quick hot mic moment. Compare that to how things work in the match or showdown wise of like, just mics up everywhere all the time, total chaos. We always said like, this does not have to be live. Edit this down.
Starting point is 00:18:38 Like they executed the live part of, of live mics and that's way harder to do than they made it look. At least from what we've been told. From a production technical standpoint, this is the worst one that we're gonna see just cause they're literally like they've never done it before in a truly live setting. And so I think there's so many bells and whistles that they can and will add as they go along,
Starting point is 00:19:02 as they get more comfortable and get the basics down. One thing I'd like to see would be each team tasked with having an interesting person that's involved with the team or even not involved with the team. Like, you know, the Steph Curry being involved with the Bay or whatever, like just the rando dude who's like at the center of it that nobody knows who it is handing guys clubs and it that nobody knows who it is,
Starting point is 00:19:25 handing guys clubs and all that wasn't doing it for me, right? Like they need somebody dynamic and interactive. Like the team manager. Yeah. Yeah. I would say the same thing about the broadcast, honestly, where I think that, again, if it's going to be, I don't think it needs to be serious. I thought like Matt Barry's fine and moved everything along great. But I think some of the things you could take from some of the other matches is like somebody, you know, I don't want to keep always going back to Charles Barkley, but like someone that is a little more of a fish out of water, that's hucking stuff and being a little bit more of an, an avatar for the
Starting point is 00:19:58 audience, right? Like I would see what you said, like having that personality, just on call on the same thing that's never going to hit a shot sale. They're not going to like be distracted, but they are a personality. They're somewhat famous or they're somewhat good on the mic. That that's a, uh, that was a miss. This isn't a shot at Matt Barry. It's more of like, I just didn't feel like he was put in the
Starting point is 00:20:18 best position to succeed. He almost had to carry things a little too much or guys can't necessarily hear him because it was loud in there too. I think they would need to dial, he needs to play even less of a role, I think in moving things along or bantering back and forth. I just, I, that's the part where it always gets kind of awkward and it's, it's, we've all heard the same golf jokes on repeat and it almost, the whole action kind of, he almost just needs to be there to explain the action and like let the guys talking to each other and let the action speak for itself would
Starting point is 00:20:48 be a minor note, but it felt like that's a tough, especially on a triple header, that's going to be a tough thing to carry for six hours. Surprising you didn't have a co-pilot up there. But I know they wouldn't make room for Rory. I know what you mean, but it's almost like if you're going to have one, at least. I think these first couple, it seems like there's a lot of explaining to do these first couple. Totally, yeah, you should.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Introducing stuff, here's how this works, here's how the rules work, all that stuff. I'm sure the next couple will look pretty similar to this and then they can start iterating and evolving and all of that, so I think that'll be a big thing, but I do think, I wanna see more between the players and not booth to players. Yeah, and I think the booth is gonna be the safety net
Starting point is 00:21:29 in week one too, right? It's always like, we don't know what we're gonna get from the players, so we gotta make sure we're not hanging them out to dry. Somebody's there to make sure it's all good. Technology, wildly impressive of moving that green around with just no issues. 600 jacks.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Arthur, you play like jacks. 600 actually. Pretty crazy. Speaking of technology,, you play like Jack. Six hundred actually. Pretty crazy. Speaking of technology, sorry if you've seen me on my phone. I've been communicating with someone from your beloved Jupiter Links Golf Club and we're so thrilled to have them joining the live show tonight. Max Homa, of course, is here. Hey!
Starting point is 00:22:01 Max, hello. Hello, Max. How depressed is everyone that's not Tiger? What are you? What's on the mind, man? Did you did you watch tonight or you're playing next week? I think I did. Unless you're sitting out as your captain. Well, I guess so. That I heard a tiger didn't say that we aren't announcing.
Starting point is 00:22:20 I don't even know the lineup, but I guess we're not supposed to talk about it. I watched I missed the first 10 minutes because my son is a psycho at night right now. But yeah, I actually really liked it. I was just talking to my wife about it asking her what she liked and didn't like. The pace of it was like electric. That was an aspirational pace of play. I think that helped just like it kept moving and moving it felt a lot more like a normal sport where you see a bunch of action and then it goes to commercial and it's not that bad to go to commercial because you almost want to need to catch your breath yeah catch your breath i mean obviously it's not as intense like as a hockey
Starting point is 00:22:59 game or basketball or whatever but it is like nice to get a quick break and you see I feel like enough in between the commercials. I was nervous for them just because it's live and it was their first time ever and it's a lot of technology. I've been a part of the match where our mics go out and nobody can hear anything. That happened at like our first Netflix cut. So I was worried about that, but I thought it went pretty well. I mean, there's some stuff that I would have liked to see different,. But I thought it went pretty well. I mean, there's some stuff that good of I would have liked to see different but overall I thought it was is pretty good.
Starting point is 00:23:28 What would you like to see different? I don't know exactly how you do this. But I was pretty excited for the banter. I think we saw a little bit of it. It was really hard to hear the players. So I feel like I mean, I know you said it, Sally, but they did go back a couple times and like replay things that maybe you couldn't catch the first time, but that seemed like a bit of a, there was just still a lot of voices.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Like I get what you were saying TC about having like another guy over there that's like electric would be hilarious to get Steph Curry to come in the middle of basketball season and be a glorified daddy. That was an all time take. But like that just is another voice. I just feel like less is more with the voices. That's what I feel like I've picked up from the matches is just have less. So I thought it worked pretty well when it was Tiger and Matt or Rory and Matt, but not getting to hear enough of. I thought when Xander was on it was was awesome Just felt like you didn't hear a ton of the banter You could you know kind of hear Wyndham was was like chirping a little bit, but it's just hard to pick up So I thought that would have been a little better
Starting point is 00:24:33 But it also puts a lot of pressure on golfers who are you know, we're not entertainers by you know In the audio sense, so I don't know if that's best, but I would have just liked to see that a bit more. What a, so I'm sure you've been to the arena from a golf perspective. What were your takeaways, whether it's putting chipping, hitting into the screen, like what, what are people not like, what's not going to come through necessarily from like watching these guys hit shots that you guys are kind of thinking about? Yeah. Well, first and foremost, I will say cause I would like to be, you know, genuine here. I didn't really know. I didn't
Starting point is 00:25:08 really like wasn't all bought into this thing before I went to the arena for the first time, I thought it would be cool. But it felt a little like, we're really trying to do something different. And then when I went to the arena, I was like, holy cow, this is super cool. So the first thing, you know, it doesn't come across on TV, but in person like that. So screen being 3540 yards from when you hit is pretty awesome. You can like Lacey asked me tonight, how they know it's like left. And I was like, well, the balls already curving by the time it gets to the simulator, which obviously in a normal simulator, like if you go to,
Starting point is 00:25:47 you know, any of the, any of the ones that get home, you're kind of whacking it and you look up and see if you pulled or pushed it. So I thought that was really cool for us, I guess. The other part that I guess is like, Tiger talked about the chipping. If you take this thing too seriously, the chipping is ridiculous. It's not a big video game. I have turf in my backyard and I've got a green I can't really chip to it because too small but the way my grain, like, the way it settles, is there certain spots
Starting point is 00:26:22 that are just when it's into the grain, it's like into the the teeth it's legitimately hard to get any kind of contact when it's down grain it's as fun as could possibly be that's how it is there there are certain spots where it rotates where you're going straight into the teeth so you can look like complete dumbass which i think is great but again if you're looking for like serious golf competition that that's not this is not for you. Because there's going to be a lot of wonky stuff. But it's fun. Like I thought that it was really fun how Matt hit that cool chip, but it like banked off the edge of like the collar. Like it was hilarious. But that's more what I'm getting at is it supposed to be like that. So that stuff is funny and awkward. But yeah, I mean, I don't think you're missing a whole lot. Like it definitely, it definitely played on TV quite a bit. Like
Starting point is 00:27:10 I guess I would have anticipated. Max, you're famously a fan of a massive payroll team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, you're playing on the smallest market team there in Jupiter. What's kind of that adjustment? Like, you know, kind of being a part of a small market like that? Yeah, it's definitely interesting. You know, having an owner who's also playing on the team a la semi pro is pretty sick. I was hoping for our match that they have a halftime show and we give a guy a big old check in glitter or a fight with a bear something along the lines of the movie.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I have seen it a lot. Shout out to Dewey the bear. Yeah, it'll be interesting being a small market team. My team is very interesting. Currently two of us play full time. We do have a, you know, the goat. So that's cool. I actually think this will be great for tiger. Like he was really good on TV today.
Starting point is 00:28:14 I thought, uh, shout out my, my boss. Uh, are you guys, are you guys, are you want a text read? Like you got a little team text read, like what's a little, a little intranet? What are you working with with the cat out there? Like to get worked at absolutely nothing. Um, we haven't communicated. I did ask, I did ask Tiger, we played at the US open this year on a practice round. And I did ask him cause at the time kids kids has fortunately started playing
Starting point is 00:28:44 much better lately, but at the time kids was struggling and I did ask him because at the time kids kids has fortunately started playing much better lately but at the time kids was struggling and I was just like hey at what point do we like talk about this team and he said I was being a dick and I said you know Kevin would say the exact same thing about me so I just feel like we need to have an open conversation accountability yeah it felt very much like Mr. Ridley at Augusta saying there is no suggestion box. It's a one person management. So I'm just happy to be on the team. But hopefully after week one, we will be able to reconvene and maybe re-strategize a little bit. How do you foresee strategy working as far as like, is it you play the night before as
Starting point is 00:29:25 like a little practice session and then you can kind of figure out the holes and get your numbers dialed? Because there's some pretty wild force carries like on the shots with Dr. Pizza. He's just cooking. I got the like yardage book with the holes we'll be playing. And this seems like a Bombers League. I was watching Lud and Windham and Xander and Rick hit today and there's a lot of carries I just don't think I've got. They really brought the spear to its knees. Yeah, they did. They got to roll the ball back.
Starting point is 00:30:01 I have been having nightmares about being the one to hit that tee shot because I don't have that having nightmares about being the one to hit that tee shot because I don't have that carry and I know me, I will try to hit it in that little gap. Um, like an idiot. And, uh, because I can't be the guy who hits four iron off that tee. Like I just can't do it. Uh, that hole is sick, but they made it look easier than my nightmares have been, uh, have been going. So that was kind of a bummer.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I was really hoping for more, more disaster. How's the turf? Like the real turf. I don't want to, they make, everybody makes jokes. I really, it's super good. It's like some of the nice grass I've ever been on. It's like, they call it something fancy.
Starting point is 00:30:43 It is really, really nice. It's the thing Sally was most excited about. They have a turf farm outside and then they have the Yeah, overseeded stuff and then they've got the the rough is great too. Everything is honestly like it's about as amazing as you could imagine. I was really blown away. But it was cool to maybe they'll play the whole sport outside. You know, thank you. You never know, man. You just really never know. I was really blown away. But it was cool to maybe they'll put the whole sport outside, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:06 thinking you never know, man. Just really never know. I'm not sure you can deal with all the variables. One fun thing that that was brought up to me when I was there was they had gone over trying to do wind, which I like thought that was pretty obvious we should do. But I guess I mean, this is where I was wrong. Like just putting a wind meter on which I still think would be funny obvious we should do. But I guess, I mean, this is where I was wrong. Like just putting a wind meter on, which I still think would be funny,
Starting point is 00:31:28 but putting a wind meter on and saying, this is 18 miles per hour and off the right, like you do need to feel wind. I don't know what 18 miles an hour is. It would be funny. They're sponsoring everything else. Get a big ass fan sponsorship. The wind presented by big ass fans.
Starting point is 00:31:44 That would be sick. Or the wall. I'm not sure that fans just have settings to certain MPH but if that is a thing I'm all in. It would more be a prop right? It's like the win would be in the metaverse but like just for like fun just like have these fans blowing. TC we could get uh maybe Draymond Green to manage. Listen, I just looked. They're currently playing the heat at home. Bring Kaminga in. At the Chase Center out in San Francisco. I just met guys that are involved in the ownership groups. That's been a big element of the ownership stuff. It's been like, hey, we've got
Starting point is 00:32:21 this celebrity or this athlete involved, many of whom are retired. That was what I was getting. I hear you. Well, you saw Iguodala was there. He was sitting in the stands. But I was- Fucking being lazy on T.C. doing nothing up there. Get up there and do something.
Starting point is 00:32:36 He should be adding some value, exactly. Oh, man. Max, we won't keep it too long here, but just week one under the belt, you were kind of making headlines all over the joint, man. Changing things, changing clubs, changing clothes. How is it? Where are you at? How are you feeling? What was week one like?
Starting point is 00:32:53 I feel good. I feel like I'm crossing enemy lines here. Oh, no, don't say that. I didn't know if you would receive me with open arms. Of course we will. Thank you, Neil. No, it was good. I was pretty excited. More space for us at the title issues now. Listen, I want to give you guys room to do your hogging of the action.
Starting point is 00:33:11 That should remind me, I got to watch the... Oh, you told me what you told me earlier? Yeah. TZ, I watched your TPI visit yesterday on YouTube. I did not know that all of you guys have one so now I'm gonna watch them all Tonight but TC I have never seen someone DJ was telling me you're the opposite problem where you have too much Yes, but but I just mean the general gist of like hey arch your back And you didn't move like Like the things you moved were so far from your waist. And then when he told you to cross your arms
Starting point is 00:33:51 and just turn your hips back, and you just went. I lost it there. Do you know how good of an athlete you have to be to consistently stay on plane and strike the ball? I swear we were with Dr. Greg for, I don't know, four hours. And he was truly impressed. He's like, I can't believe how on plane you are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:11 With a single, like you, his whole body moves like an orchestra together. It's incredible. It is. I was about to say, I was a little heated that his chipping lesson he gave you was the exact same thing I gave you with Solly like three years ago.
Starting point is 00:34:25 Yes. Thank you. And then you were like, oh my gosh, this is amazing. I guess mine didn't sink in at all. Well, I think I've had that same chipping lesson like six different times. I just need to keep having it like every three months or so. Yeah, dude, we just need to like keep you tall, man. You buckle. Well, go back. So how was the first week? So anyways, yeah, I mean, it was good. I didn't make nearly enough birdies, but no, it was good. I mean, it's been really a whirlwind because I had a feeling I was going to change clothes and equipment. The clubs took longer to make that decision, but obviously that was a big change. And then the swing stuff was a mega wrinkle because I was getting fit
Starting point is 00:35:13 for clubs that my swing felt like it was changing every week. So I'm sure Ben Schoeman at Cobra was super stoked that I'd call him every seven days and say this driver's spinning more than it was last week because now I'm hitting down on it another degree down. So that was quite the thing. But I we got it all dialed about three, four weeks ago with the with the clubs where I felt like everything was in a really good spot. So it's fun to get to go do that weird course to do it on but also kind of good. But I was really you know, stoked with the the changes in the equipment and the apparel like
Starting point is 00:35:50 it's it was awesome. It felt exciting. It was it's been exciting to like go get ready to play golf, which is cool. Sometimes the offseason can be a drag. And this year, you know, it's a bummer last season. So this year, I was really motivated, but you needed like a little spark and then all the stuff I've been doing with my new coach was awesome. And I saw like a lot of, a lot of benefit that has to be the best I've driven a golf ball since like Augusta. So that was, that was, I said, other big fairways, but it felt like I was hitting a lot of ones where I
Starting point is 00:36:21 meant to, I wasn't just playing with the slopes. So that was that was cool. I mean, who knows, but I'm working my ass off. You might have to play the slopes next week. That's true. You know, there's a lot of speed slots. There are. This will be a huge test to all the where I shake out in the in the rotation for the three way alt shot that will be that will be a massive part of this because I typically am thrive on par threes and I'm assuming Tiger will be taking those because he is the greatest iron plant ever lived. So I'm not really sure where I'm going to fit in on this but I will do my best.
Starting point is 00:37:03 I'm fairly certain Tiger got me and kids on the team so we would talk for everybody because I think that's where we're going to hopefully thrive. Yeah, like the press secretary. Yeah, it's kind of going to kind of be. That is a good question before we let you go from Tom in the chat here. What was the Greller experience like? Yeah, it was great. Obviously like, you know, it's kind of funny and I understand everyone's
Starting point is 00:37:27 take on it. Everybody was, you know, trying to do like behind the scenes, like, you know, have us have me and Greller talk about how's going and all these things. But like, it's not like either of us are celebrating this. You know, I much would have rather had Joe there. Joe's been going through some stuff at home. So it was a real bummer not to have him out there. I miss him a lot. I haven't seen him in a little while. And you never want to start your season or have play any event without your guy. And then, you know, Michael has Joe Jordan at home, still rehabbing his wrist. So it was a bummer. But as far as playing Bs go, that was the best plan B in the world. I had a ton of fun. He is like one of the greatest dudes out there. His family's amazing. He's an amazing caddy. Obviously not so much you
Starting point is 00:38:10 can do in like just a week's time, but I thought that he was pretty incredible. I, you know, I hit a bad shot on Saturday on 14 and 15. He really like got me back into what the whole goal of the week was and we birdied the next four holes and I thought that was just neat to see how he you know internalized what I was doing and then was able to give me like a challenge really to lock back in for four holes and I thought that was awesome. So for sure like the best substitute I know he was a teacher he was a substitute teacher for me for a week. He did an amazing job, but I think we're both happy to go back to our regularly scheduled jobs here pretty soon.
Starting point is 00:38:53 Not quite, because you'll have a new job next week, which we're looking forward to watching. And who knows, TC, maybe LeBron will caddy for us. Yeah. Yeah. Max, I gotta ask you before you go, any other changes we need to know about you.
Starting point is 00:39:07 You rattled off a bunch. You got any more surprises in the bag? Just to add more surprises. I think I'm going to shave my beard soon. There we go. Change of the look. Oh, yeah. I'm absolutely not ever doing that.
Starting point is 00:39:19 You are the only person Neil, I know that can pull that off. I shaved my beard and I look terrible. Terrible. This thing can never come off. You could go with the mustache. That looked bad too. It was good bad though. Well, I think you look good in the new threads.
Starting point is 00:39:35 So congratulations. Appreciate you. I'm happy to hear you're fired up. That's this is this is good stuff. Get it done next week. Let's go off to a good start this season. Soly, I don't know if this was the bit. Are you actually like a Jupiter Lynx guy or do you hate him? I'm a massive. The algorithm
Starting point is 00:39:51 selected him for New York and I'm out. I'm out. I'm a Jupiter Lynx guy. It's like the sorting. I find it funny though the irony of the team I probably absolutely should be on my first matchup and so I'm gonna have to chip on your shoulder man yeah I'm gonna have a bit of a chip like they didn't they didn't want me I'm not sure it'd be like if you know like LeBron got to go to the Cavs right out the gate I guess LeBron left the Cavs or something. I guess I'm more Adrunas Ogauskas out the gate. I guess I'm more Zydrunas Elgauskas and they just kind of sent me off. You and Tiger and you know, Kiz and Tom Kim should do like the whole heat thing when they announce the whole decision thing. Not one, not two, not three, not four. Potentially if you have potential super team.
Starting point is 00:40:42 I don't know if you heard me, but two of the guys on our team One of them is an announcer now. Yeah, one of them is broadcasting Uh tom kim's owing to at the president's cup. Uh, we we are going to uh, We are we are hopefully gonna find our stride And I again, I think if if me and kids can buckle down and really get in these people's heads And tom and tyger can play some amazing golf, we have a very good chance. Dude, that's what we're seeing full team effort. Have you ever seen baseball?
Starting point is 00:41:11 Yes. That's been a while, but yes, but you know, like the psych outs. Yeah. Basically. Yeah. And it's like, you know, talking about squeaks mom or whatever, like kids should start doing that.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Guys faces are writing some material that might be the watch this week. Max watch the tough part is we have saw you prepare for this. I watch baseball. Nothing bad about. Yeah, that's true. Like the sweetest dogs wear shoes. That's it. There's a crazy one.
Starting point is 00:41:38 Yeah, I don't really get that as a jab, but I don't fit that one in. I should come from Randy's dog walk down the aisle. Yeah, but. I don't fit that one in. Especially come from Randy, his dog walked down the aisle. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Right. So did mine. And I put my dog in those boots wearing the snow. So I'm like really not the guy. That was a different thing.
Starting point is 00:41:56 Those different. Snowflakes. Mad for the paws. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. We're not trying to play the game. I'm glad. We're not playing the designer shoes. Yeah. All right, Max, get out of here. Thank you. Thank you We're not putting the designer shoes in there.
Starting point is 00:42:05 All right, Max, get out of here. Thank you very much for all the time. Good luck. I can't wait to watch. Hey guys, huge fans. I'm gonna go spend the next hour of my life watching you guys play golf on the TVI. Wait till you get to the medicine ball parts.
Starting point is 00:42:17 There's some good stuff in there. Cannot wait. See you, boys. See you. Shout out to Max for joining. Thank you for that. That was great. Before we move on, just a for joining. Thank you for that, that was great. Before we move on, just a couple more things
Starting point is 00:42:27 I wanna get to, but before we do, Sal, will you talk to me about the stack? What is the stack? I would love to, I miss it so much. Guys, I've fallen so far behind. My grit score is getting absolutely blown up. I was at 99% before the twins came. I followed this program religiously.
Starting point is 00:42:42 It is golf's number one training speed program is what it says on TTC's box. TTC's been getting a lot of work in. TTC's box is unopened. I'm not there yet in my process. Sorry, I gotta disassociate before I start. He was doing great until he had to sit at the Waffle House. Yeah. 19 hours.
Starting point is 00:42:57 It is an awesome workout program. It's not intimidating. I was intimidated by it for a long time. It sat in my garage when I finally tried it out. Within six sessions I had picked up, I don't remember what the exact miles an hour was, but around five miles an hour my swing speed. I mean, the gains are so fast. It's an algorithm that is telling you
Starting point is 00:43:15 what weights to swing. You alternate between fast weights and slow weights. It's actually helped my back, like the stretching program and workout program that went with it that I haven't been doing my backs acting up on me It's an awesome app. It makes you want to work out. I put it on my schedule and I have had very very very Real speed gains on the golf course and I've said this like I do not know for busy people busy individuals I do not know a better per minute of time that you can invest That can improve your golf game than the stack. I'm dead serious on that one.
Starting point is 00:43:46 I think that's well said. Like if you don't have, I don't have time to bang balls for an hour and a half. I have time to go swing this fast in my backyard. And like even when I'm taking some time off golf, the distance is still there and the swing still feels really good. It's really impressive.
Starting point is 00:43:59 If you would like to get involved in everything Solly is talking about here, I would recommend visiting thestacksystem.com slash no laying up. You can use code no laying up for 10% off on the stack. Maybe watch our social channels. We might be doing a little stack video this week maybe. Listen, I just wanna call something out.
Starting point is 00:44:16 Let's just do it. Like it's, just do it. He listens to the stack algorithm, no questions asked, but not the sorting hat. I know. When it comes to what TGLT and that's bullshit. No, I this the TGL thing is like your theory on like Google Maps traffic, like how they maybe direct people in some different ways to keep the traffic even. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:44:34 That's what happened. Are they doing that? I have a theory they are. Waze and Waze is I mean, well, you can take that off line. but go ahead. That's my theory on those questionnaires. My answers were like, I like adventure. I like small towns. I like getting off the grid. They're like, boom, you are from New York. Griffin doll. I like tolls.
Starting point is 00:44:56 Yeah, exactly. All right, just a couple things before we get out of here. I gave you guys some superlatives to be watching for out there. We're just gonna kind of like go through the night a little bit. First one I'm gonna throw at you guys, I wanna know the moment you made up your mind on TGL.
Starting point is 00:45:15 So that could be good or bad. If you loved it, what was the moment that made you love it? If you hated it, what was the moment you made you hate it? I know we all kind of ebbed and flowed throughout the night. Neil, you look like you had a good one. I thought it was the T, when we got to the T on number two and I picked me plunder. I just saw how fucking stupid that all was,
Starting point is 00:45:33 how outrageous it was. I was like, all right, this is not that serious. It's like, God, there's so many serious, there's serious money attached to it, but it's just like, kind kind of what are we doing? But also this is now this is harmless to me. Like it's just, it was an outrageous golf hole and they're taking it dead serious. And so I can't decide if like the Marty Smith, like brother, this is serious stuff. Look, they're going to change colors on the trophy.
Starting point is 00:46:02 If I like that added to the gravitas or it's a cup, cup, whatever. But what the second T is when I was like, all right, I'll watch this till the end. DC I almost feel like I made up my mind when I went to the media day and saw the arena in, like in all of its glory of like, man, this is like, this is like the coolest little fun house I've ever seen before.
Starting point is 00:46:25 And everything I thought was going to happen kind of was confirmed tonight. And I think, I think it's cool because I think, like you said, Neil, I think sometimes it's going to be super unserious. And then I think there are going to be moments where it's like, no, all right, this is actually getting serious, or there's guys that want to win and they want to beat the other team. And there's going to be close matches like we got the biggest blowout tonight in history possibly could have been history. Yeah. And, you know, I think I think they can evolve this in several different directions. But like you said, I hope that it's
Starting point is 00:46:59 lighthearted and fun and it's not like very serious golf product is what the majority of it is. I also like Tom in the comments saying, will it fit was the moment they made up their mind, which is good stuff. So what did you have? Well, if you want to check the notes when we made up our mind, I think going all the way back when they were getting the avalanche of shit on them, I had dinner with a friend of ours who works with TJL and I came back and reported to you guys. I was like, guys, I'm in on this thing. works with TJL and I came back and reported to you guys. I was like, guys, I'm in on this thing.
Starting point is 00:47:30 I think this is going to be fucking fun. But tonight it was like the, the within the first hole, the stink of so many of the things we complained about golf was nowhere to be found. It wasn't like overly tour. It wasn't overly NBC. It wasn't like overly commercialized in terms of like interruptions and like it flowed. Like ited. It was a totally different thing. And it was kind of just like as soon as it started moving quickly, you almost kind of moved to your edge of your seat of like, oh my, I'm intrigued. I'm in on this. It was the very first hole for me.
Starting point is 00:47:53 I would say though that those things you just mentioned did start to creep in. Second half was not. That was concerning to me of like it did start to slow down. The intermission really sucked the air out of the balloon If the hours were flipped, it'd be an interesting conversation tonight Yeah, and to your point TC I do want to be fun and carefree because it's you know It doesn't really matter but also like I'd love to see some tension
Starting point is 00:48:17 Yeah, I'd like to see some guys like get like, you know, like you're like F you know Like there it would be nice if like some of these guys actually disliked each other but, like, you know, like, you know, like, it would be nice if like some of these guys actually disliked each other, but all like, you know, all the villains left. So we don't really have that. I'll say for mine, I'll cheat and give one on each side, but the moment I made up my mind for the positive was just Ludwig chipping in early. I was like, oh shit, this is cool.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Actually people are fired up. Teammates are running around high five and like the arena sounds pretty loud flip side. The moment where I was like, all right, dude, don't get too far ahead of your skis, was DJ Khaled. I was like, okay, everybody, these guys still. The same stuff. There's still people that can't help themselves.
Starting point is 00:48:52 What an own goal, right? Like, you know, like you're trying to cater somewhat to a certain number of golf traditionalists or make this tethered to reality or whatever. The one thing you know that like almost unites all core golf fans is we hate DJ Khaled and he's like wildly annoying and the fact that they put him in there not once but twice is or really three times because they had him in at the start. Is that unique just to golf though even DC like I don't do people like DJ Khaled outside
Starting point is 00:49:24 of golf? I don't, yeah. I don't know. It's almost like he has this niche with marketing professionals or might need to bring Jordan. He's like safe. He's like perfect agencies or something like, we're like, no, we'll just get DJ Khaled. Like he, he, the focus groups love him. I do think one, one thing that we've glossed over is like how much of a stud love big is like his game translates inside, outside.
Starting point is 00:49:45 He's just cool as a cucumber. Dome golfer potentially. He's the guy. Wow, interesting. All right, let's keep going on where we're going here. Cringe moment of the night. What was your- Non-cali-
Starting point is 00:49:58 Non-cali-division. I can kick it off if you want. And I just say that I felt a little chill in my spine when they were like, the hammer is presented by FedEx. I was like, I don't come on, man. I don't know if that's quite, quite it. But okay, I love the hammer. I just sell in every every part of the elephant. The hammer should be sponsored by the Walt. Right or Home Depot,
Starting point is 00:50:23 especially with art blank. Or somebody online said Mr. Palmer. Dave Ruff. I thought that was good stuff. Anybody else? Cringe moment of the night? Non-cala division? Some of the Marty Smith stuff was just, you know, but maybe Marty's just not for me, but he's familiar to college football fans who, you know, that was probably mine.
Starting point is 00:50:41 Yeah. I think just kind of some of the, like I was saying, like, I'm not sure if I'm going Maybe Marty's just not for me, but he's familiar to college football fans who, you know, that was probably mine. Yeah. I think just kind of some of the, like I was saying with the, the, the Matt Berry set up and kind of how some of that float of, of trying to banter back and forth was just a little bit at just didn't quite carry, but that's kind of nitpicking honestly, because I just, I think it was overall a big positive.
Starting point is 00:51:01 Yeah. The only time the, my big concern was when, uh, I think it was, who threw the flag down? The Ricky Shane interaction. Yeah. Ricky like, you know, he lost the whole by like four strokes and it's like, we'll put this one out. Like nobody. It was just like, it was just kind of like, all right, don't put these guys in a position to like do shit like that. Yeah. How long has Ricky locked up for? I gotta check out what his contract was. That's the thing contract that deal is looking looking tough You know that is are there trades allowed? Can they change the team?
Starting point is 00:51:28 Well, I think that I think the thing is like the teams are made like based on like who can Schedule yeah. Yeah, so, you know, that's that's tricky. All right next next one's easy best hole I feel like this is gotta be All right next next one's easy best hole I feel like this is gonna be Unanimous one right pick your plunder pick your plan. Your plunder was my hate to that The spear was a bit of a disappointment. I know I do think maybe pick your plunder like Max said maybe it might be a little bit of a You know guys are playing different games And I don't think that there's enough of an opportunity for some of the show like guys Tom Kim's gonna struggle in this doesn't hit the ball very far.
Starting point is 00:52:09 Agree. He is my marketing. Yeah, I know. They might play small ball. Maybe maybe the cat tells him we're hitting iron off every T like open some of these holes. You can't do that. I don't know. We'll see. I think it should be interesting to watch. Stagger how we need some new holes that have some some other speed slots and some really avant-garde stuff going on. Some of the design did not play through very well. Honestly, it was kind of sleepy. But we're gonna get some golf courses. I did just a minute. I can't wait for that all right last question for me MVP of the night gotta pick one Ludwig yeah I'm actually looking gonna
Starting point is 00:52:53 say Wyndham I feel like he was like he had the right like the right energy the right kind of temperament for the whole thing and using a bunch of commercials it just kind of seemed like like is Wy with him the needle like all of a sudden It was I think it was a big night for Wyndham I'll say Ludwig and I'm gonna change my cringe moment to like the sixth time I heard DMX When when I think it was multiple DMX I'm gonna say pizza obviously Yeah I'm gonna say pizza, obviously. I think that was fair. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:29 The genuine excitement that TC had when the spear came on. That was my favorite moment of the night. Like, yeah, it's fun we didn't get the Aztec pyramid this week. Maybe stay tuned for next week. The temple. Can I, and I also just wanna shout out, I don't know when we had a unanimously fun golf Twitter evening.
Starting point is 00:53:45 Yeah. Like not unanimous. There's plenty of people that fucking hate. Not, not unanimous, but like a, a, an energy. Like there was just an energy of like people were, it were, I guess most of the people I was following were, were into it and were, well, it's hard to talk geopolitics in the metaverse,
Starting point is 00:54:00 you know, like volcanoes of picky plunder, you know, we don't have to talk about like, you know, they're just putting the lava into whitewash sports wash. Yeah. It's like, you understand what they're doing to that. You know what the lava is due to that, that ecosystem, right? It's like, I don't have to worry about fucking water rights and something bugging somebody, climate protesters. It's just like, no, it's fucking, it's made up. Well, that was, that was one, you know, it was, it was a little bit weird and dystopian that we're sitting there watching this lava while like, you know, fires are descending upon Riviera. That's a, I had a friend text me that was like, yeah, I'm just kind of flipping back and forth
Starting point is 00:54:38 between the local news of, of, you know, trying to figure out if my neighborhood's about to burn down and watching the simulator golf league. It's pretty pure derealization going on right now. But it's my not like the design part that's coming. Well, what a segue. All right, before we get out of here, we asked Jordan Perez on our team, we had a brainstorming call. She said, I think we need to have a time
Starting point is 00:54:59 where you guys are designing holes. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Solly was the only one that had time to do it today. Everybody was supposed to design a hole. Yeah, solid bitching about how he has no time. Oh no, wait until you see how this works. This was put on our plates last night at like yeah I missed this one in the cockpit. 6pm. I'm just hand up I just yeah. So like I was like like we had childcare father it's like honey the only thing I have to do today I had to design a golf ball. We got to the other day I was the only one had childcare father, it's like, honey, the only thing I have to do today, I took the design and go full.
Starting point is 00:55:25 We got to the other day, I was the only one that did it. It would have gone very differently if I knew I was only the one only one presenting tonight. All right, the floor is yours. So I don't know how to draw any like slope or anything. So I had to go with a concept that was like, contour agnostic. But so similar to the lava, I brought I have this golden tea image that Cody has here. It's just kind of showing the setting.
Starting point is 00:55:47 This is kind of the setting. This is not my hole. But you saw Pisa rip your idea a little bit. That is more molten. That is a filled up lava lake. I think Pisa's was much more semi- semi solidified rock. Is this your whole or his? No, this is his. I'm just saying. No, no, no, this is a golden. And the whole working title is molten faces.
Starting point is 00:56:13 Very good. So it is set in this canyon, okay, with with with lava flowing, okay. And it's like a 320 yard par four that I drew with on with my daughter's crayons while I was babysitting her today. Now, you guys sitting here are not going to be able to see this that well. But there's a bunch. It's like, there's basically like choose your own adventure, choose your own adventure. So Island fairways, Island fairways, a bunch of island
Starting point is 00:56:42 fairways, and what you really can't see that make it really interesting. There's some centerline lava pits in the middle of these fairways? Island fairways, a bunch of island fairways and what you really can't see that make it really interesting, there's some centerline lava pits in the middle of all these fairways. Gotcha. You imagine how pissed JT would be if he hit one of those centerline lava pits. I had one shot at this. I have some regrets. It's all he has a cock. That was Luke Donald. That's such a deep hole. Again, like last night, congratulations if you got that one. the to reach the front to the green, but all the lava is OB. There's no lateral here. Okay, so you have to, it is not a risk-free shot
Starting point is 00:57:28 at the green. And the front right part of this green actually flows to the right. It's kind of a volcano shape to this green. So you're thinking about what angle you... On the... The green zone. Because you used the same green that they used.
Starting point is 00:57:44 That's extra credit there. Thank you. Thank you very much. So one of the safest option is to hit like 160 yard shot out to the right. And then you that's going to leave you like a 175 shot in the Tom Kim line. Yeah. But if there's also a pretty wide fairway up there at 240, if you want to hit one up, it's going to leave you though, with an awkward like 55 yard pitch. And that front bunker is going to protect that pin over there. And it's going to slope
Starting point is 00:58:09 away from you down to the right and could go into the lava. So basically, you're trying to stay alive here because there's a lot of places you can go, go and die here, which I also thought some of the holes tonight were just risking that lacking that risk element. I think something that they could even add would be with with all this AV stuff and in lighting They could even superimpose lava
Starting point is 00:58:28 Like a yeah, like a you know, a lava bunker in the middle of the green and then just oh god They should dump water on guys if they hit it in the water, you know, just like You know like slime them. Yeah, just like I like that water comes from the ceiling Also, don't hit it in there. This is good, too If they like when love big hit it in the hazard on picky plunder, uh, they should have the lights. Plunder. It should be like strobe lights like,
Starting point is 00:58:55 should be a dunk tank, you know, call. Yeah. Or just like something like everything should just go nuts. Like you fucked up. So people in the comments are going nuts that this is a rip off of, of we sports hole number nine. So I just want comments are going nuts that this is a ripoff of Wii Sports hole number nine Wow, I just want you Playing so much Wii Sports lately that I couldn't get this to this hole out of my mind
Starting point is 00:59:15 Just I have threw a new name on it molten faces and called it his own I saw I saw that was our guy Richmond Houston that comment to that Richmond. I got your email I'm gonna respond first when he read your email to me. I got it. I saw that was our guy, Richmond Houston, that, that comment to that Richmond, I got your email and we were responsible for it. Richmond, he read your email to me and I got it. Don't worry. I regretfully have never played we golf as well. If that was a serious accusation, somebody bland before.
Starting point is 00:59:41 That's so stupid. Oh guys, I don't know. I feel like this is what I'll say. This is sick because I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:59:51 I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:59:59 I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. What was Sophie's? It's a concept of a plan. We're still working through. So he was gonna be she was blown up too much rock I was gonna move too much land came up with her own original ideas They're more creative than we
Starting point is 01:00:15 Just looks like we golf the night at we sports Guys, I think that's about all we got on the simulator league Congratulations to everyone involved on a fun night one I enjoyed it you know it's January now it's January 8th but January 7th it's cold outside we had a fun time watching something golf adjacent seems like pretty harmless harmless fun to me I'm glad it exists and shout out to everybody who was a part of it from you know I think McCarley and ESPN and Dr. Roberto Castro. We were there.
Starting point is 01:00:48 Like, I know he's been working hard on it. He's a, all these people that put that brought this to life. It's a big swing and in Rory and tiger stick your neck out. Right. And they stuck their neck out and I'm glad it exists and, and props to them. No laying up. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:03 I mean, yeah, shit. They, they've waded through a lot of? Yeah, I mean, yeah, shit. They've waded through a lot of negative publicity of the freaking stadium falling down. That might've helped them. I need more clarity on how the hell this thing would've been pulled off inside of an inflatable bubble. Like we need a 30 for 30 or something.
Starting point is 01:01:22 On next week's episode. Cody, what do you got? Nothing, great show, guys. you got? Ah, nothing. Great show, guys. I think you guys covered everything. One thing, I think the overall center, I don't know what it is as we poke fun at the collapse dome, but like the center looked pretty sweet. I will say I saw Josh Carpenter tweeted out the pictures of the alcohol and food and it
Starting point is 01:01:42 wasn't crazy expensive. So I appreciate that for Florida. They could have gouged some people there, but they didn't. Arthur Blank wouldn't let him get away with that.
