You can hear my teeth grinding. That's for sure. It is very loud. Yes, let's remind everyone of all the concerning things going on by doing a little recap. Please. So last week, you guys learned more about the Toilitium gem from the Deep Vogue library than headed to the crux to gain passage to West precinct. While there Henry received a very cold letter from

Izzy saying that Hank Jr. had gotten a new opportunity with the help of Vervaine Industries and urged Hank not to contact them any further. The messenger boy seemed uneasy and told you that he had seen Izzy and her husband, Carlisle Lochnamor, talking to two people who matched the description of the sorceress Maksora and the prophet Cain. After learning this, you headed to West precinct and stopped at the beautiful Vervein Industries Lab on the lake where you met Zerksmoms Stella Vervein. Vervein Industries Lab on the lake where you met Zerks mom Stella Vervein. Stella was tough to get through to and overwhelmingly charismatic but you did manage to learn a little bit about her. She said she was being financed by the Loch Nymore family and showed Zerks some of the horror specimens. She was inspecting, claiming she was eventually going to cure. Horror dum.

Horror dum. Horror, horrors. Horror, no, no. You asked about restoring the Twilinium gem and Stella put it in a device to help learn its properties. As she did this, Via saw her remove another item from the device, a small bell, and managed to snatch it away. After getting a read on the gem, Stella placed it in a cloner device and claimed that it would take several days for it to build

a new one. She then informed you that she was invited to a fundraising event for Carlisle Lachnamor's campaign for Chancellor of Outerboro, a Fia cast invisible on Henry, who feared he'd be kicked out by his ex if he was discovered. You guys traveled as a crew to the event. There Carlisle stirred up the will to do crowd with tales of horror attacks in West precinct and blamed it on Outer Burrow's failures. He resolved that if he were Chancellor of Outer Burrow that the rest of the Empire would be safe.

He proved his dedication to the cause by debuting a new horror fighting force led by his son Edgar Locke-Namore aka- Not really, not really his son aka-Hank-Junior and Hank-Junior looked awkward in his horror hunter uniform but looked genuinely proud of the accolades when people were cheering for him. After announcing the horror hunters, Carlisle told the attendees that they couldn't vote in outer bro unless they were property owners there. And that's when he unveiled another part of his plan, revealing that his father-in-law Edgar Arias

had bought up thousands of acres all available for sale with the fear of horrors and the preservation of wealth fresh in their minds. The crowd hungrily leapt at the opportunity to tip the scales in Carlisle's favor, and that's where we are now. Oh no. His plan has prongs. It's multi-pronged.

So you guys see, the crowd is lining up to buy deeds from Edgar Arias, Hank's ex-father-in-law, and Carlisle's current father-in-law. And I'll say at this point, it's been long enough that Hank's invisibility spell is going to wear off soon. How much time do we have? I'll say you guys have like about 10 minutes. All right, okay.

I fear it's sweating as she tries to concentrate and hold this spell to its duration. I'm still going to town on shrimp. I'm standing here the more- Just a little longer, Fiya. Just a little longer. The more you move around, the harder it is. So you could just be a little less going conguiled on the shrimp. Totally, but that guy just is coming back with the tiny little cheeseburger.

So I'm gonna go grab one of those. Fiya will do her best. I'm doing my famous shrimp juggling act. Everyone loves it when I juggle shrimp and it looks like they float in the air and then disappear. Ah, look at my boy. Look at the way he makes shrimp disappear. This guy knows how to put it away, right?

My boy. That's right, mom. I never thought I'd hear someone's mom say that about them. Put it away? How much is the land going for? He's selling it very, very cheaply. You know that if this was sort of practical use, that a lot of these nobles would want acres

and acres and acres. And these are for relatively small plots of lands. Being sold for like, you know, 50 or 100 gold or something, which is nothing to these people. Should we buy a condo? Yes, why not? Buy a couple next to each other. You have all this money, Mr. Reserve? It's true. I might as well put it to good use.

I don't know if we'd be able to influence all the other voters, but it seems good to be able to maybe have a stake in what's going on there. Although, may I suggest that participating in a broken system could be fundamentally flawed strategy? No, we're gonna change from the inside. Don't you see? You guys are at this table with Stella and Tab, and you see that Stella is just eating this all up

and kind of loving it. You've got people coming to the table, thanking her for her scientific contributions and stuff, and Zirk, as you're saying, that she's like, exactly Zirke, you got, if you can't beat them, join them. That's what I say. These people are trying to, exactly what I said.

Trying to screw us over, you gotta get in there and get your chunk, get your piece of the pie. You understand? If somebody's trying to keep the pie from you, you grab that pie, you get as much pie as you can, you feed yourself before you can feed others. That's right, Turkey. It's just, she says it and I smile

and then I think about it for more than a second and I frown. And you see, Tab looks very uncomfortable by all of this. Tab, what does this mean to you? Oh, it's a bit like what's going on in Indotera with all the people Moxora got riled up Talking about how humans were the enemy right so it's not the it's not the land buying that concerns you It's the team of horror hunters. Oh both both of it concerns me quite a bit

I just feel like this type of um politics. I's quite bad for a society I've seen manipulators like this and they're very dangerous. Huh, parallels. So the shadow parallel, you might see, I see. You brought up Muxora and Henry, I'm remembering that that little male fellow said that he saw Muxora in the window at this house. I'm wondering, should we try and sneak away and investigate a little bit? Because I feel like that's something that concerns me a little more than this land speculating.

Mr. Henry, if you're willing to break into your ex's house now would be the perfect time when they are at a party celebrating themselves. Okay, I'll do it, but I'm going to go by way of the kitchen because if they have any more these little hot dogs I'm gonna line my pockets with them. Are you stressed eating Mr. Henry? No. You know, self-south how you mouth. I eat a bunch and I take a huge mouthful and solidarity. Knowing that I also have a little stress to eat. So Henry, time is ticking. Right.

So you're gonna go have a look around while you're invisible? Yeah, I want to, I want to case that joint as much as I can before I leave. I'll say that you spend a second kind of in here watching Edgar seeing where he heads to. You do see that Izzy and Carlisle's youngest son, Carlisle Jr. This little boy runs out and hops up into his dad's arms.

There's a photographer there with his big bulky camera. He's got like a separate device that creates a flash with an explosion of light. You see they smile for this like nice picture. They've got Hank Jr. in the front in his uniform, looking all proud. They take a nice family picture. And you see after the picture is taken,

Carlisle and Izzy quickly walk off. There's no like little pleasantries, exchange between them or whatever. They kind of just walk away from Hank Jr. They literally give Carlisle Jr. back to like a servant. And you see, as Carlisle Jr. back to like a servant and you see as Carlisle is he walk off to go schmuz with other rich people, Hank in all of his hunter's gear is sent off

to join two other people who are wearing similar uniforms. You see they've got long black dusters, trichor and hats and rifles. You see that You know Stella is the one who Helped kind of design these fighters like gave them their equipment and everything so between her and sort of the Display of wealth that people like the locknamores can't help showing even though he's wearing like Dark clothes that should help him blend in there still are like little gold trims, and it still is like, it looks like almost silky, like it like really reflects the light. It's not well camouflaged. Okay.

Daddy's going to show the blood immediately. Yeah, yeah. So it's flashy armor. And as he walks up to join his fellow hunters, guys, go ahead and give me perception checks We'll do 9 7 19 Fiya you recognize one of the other hunters as quick blast cast Callaway of course and the other hunter as Oh

Fan favorite and you see quick blast does like kind of a sarcastic salute to Hank Jr as he shows up because he's supposed to be like the leader, but he's obviously like a puppet Mm-hmm, and together the three of them head out of the ballroom Henry, I think I've got an idea for how we could separate Hank Jr from the rest of those horror hunters Okay, yeah, I'm all ears. I want to try and fashion together something that looks like a camera and maybe like put like a little piece of paper in my hat so that it looks like a news reporter and see if I can get Hank Jr. to follow me so that I can do like a little interview with him for the

West precinct Gazette. Sweet. Yeah, using like what we have in the bag, I fashioned together something that looks like a camera, and then I hustle over to Hank Jr. I follow, I wanna be an eyewitness for this interview. You invisible walk past Hank Jr. I knock into a cello player really quick though. It hits another out of tune, cord. Wow, this band is bad.

I say it really loud. I do somaturgy to make my voice boom. You see, a rich person next to you goes, I also am very picky about music. I hate these musicians yeah what's your name hi dammit my name is Stanley Stanley if you give me your number I can like let you know when a better musician is in town because I'm actually a really good musician my number my number of what? Oh, so I can swing by and pick you up. Go ahead and give me a charisma check.

Okay, okay, it's not gonna be that bad. 15. Okay, he gives you his address. Which of course is the Victorian era equivalent of giving somebody their number of digits. Okay, I've got another person on the R-Thong. Yes, the digits are a whole bunch of... This is the beginning of Fio becoming a DEFT social engineer.

We're collecting voters one by one. So, Zerk, you are going up. Mr. Locknomore, Mr. Locknomore, if you've got a second. You see, quick blast, holds her hand up, stops, Edgar. Oh, wait, fuck. And she's here. She looks at you and goes like, Zirk, for Vane, what's you doing out here?

That's here. Oh, well, I'm working for my mom now, so I've actually taken on an assignment. I'm going to be interviewing Henry for the paper. I'm doing some photo spread for him, and then I'm going to pass it on to the paper for good press I'm handling the PR at Vervein Industries. You see Hank Jr.'s eyes light up and he goes like Do you say Henry? Oh?

Dear, oh wait did I call him Henry? Yeah fuck You see he goes till he goes like what the fuck are you talking about? You see he starts to get emotional and starts to like walk at you Quick blast goes like all right boss all right looks at user can goes This guy was just fucking leave and I think okay. All right. He starts to make a scene Hmm Henry oh dear, and you see Quick blast is like grabbing Hank Jr. and pulls him away. Okay. I turned back to the invisible spot where Henry is and I like give it just the worst thumbs up imaginable. Fuck.

You see how damn it. You see Hank Jr. He went from looking like awkward to looks like focused and mad and Joins quick blast and ranch and walks off Mr. Henry. I hate to do this But my concentration is waning. Please make the maneuvers you wish to make I gotta go Guys in a bit, okay. I low five, Zirk on my way out. Good effort buddy. I don't deserve it.

It's a good effort buddy. Zirk, as you see, you basically had a slight altercation with the young Lord of the House. And you see, as people are kind of around you, like, who is he said he wanted to do a private photo shoot? Who is this guy and he's I mean come on man ask for her ask for his address Easy Stella runs over throws her arm around Zurich and goes like

Zurichy, there you are. Yes, of course Lovely family photographer and anybody wants pictures taken line up everybody Let's get a line going. We're doing like a photo booth thing That's right everybody. We're gonna do a photo booth. I've got plenty of silly hats. It's a normal hobby It's normal. That's right, that's it. No, it's five gold per picture. How easy is that, right? There you go.

You know, if you buy a land, you throw in a photo free. Everyone's like, all right. We start getting ready to line up. While they're lining up, I give a nod to Fee if she wants to go explore. This, Bradley, but I have to concentrate on making Mr. Henry invisible. But I am going to do one thing that is in concentration.

What kind of objects are peppering this hall? Paintings, busts, little pillars with pieces of art on them musical instruments silverware, etc. Too obvious is the silverware. I take a little coffee stutter spoon, a tiny spoon, and I cast tiny stutter vent on it. Okay. So it becomes a, you touch one tiny non-magical object that isn't attached to another object or a surface and isn't being carried by another creature. The target animates, sprouts little arms and legs, and becomes a creature under your control until the spell ends or the creature drops to zero hit points. As a bonus action, you can mentally command the creature. So I'm going to send this little spoon,

scuttering along the floor, following after Mr. Henry to help him. Okay. Yep. And I'll just like bonus action, keep commanding it to help Henry if it can. Sweet. That's great. And it's a tiny little spoon. It's a spoon with arms and legs.

You see this spoon runs across the floor, like under people's feet and stuff. Nobody notices that first. Don't be scared, Mr. Henry. It's to help you. Jesus! And yeah, it jumps up into your pocket, Henry. What the? Hank, I'm gonna say you don't need a stealth check because right now you are still invisible. So you go out, you see the first level of this mansion is mostly occupied by people.

There are people milling about in the foyer and in these like little living space areas down here. Upstairs, there are several rooms up here. You see a few of them are open, a few of them are closed. Go ahead and give me a perception check. 16. Just cursory check of the hallway. You see what you can assume is the master bedroom. You see a door that's a jar. You see a servant comes out with like old sheets and as just put down fresh sheets. You see there's like a big bed with blue and gold sheets with like a canopy over it, large window that overlooks the lake. You see another room that you that you can quickly deduce is Carlyle Jr's room. You see there are like wooden toys on display and like a big wooden toy box.

And you even see a couple servants come back with Carlisle Jr. and put him in his room and he's he's running around in his room. Little maniac. You see another two doors. Both of them are closed. You see one is locked and has a family crest on the door. Looks like it could be some kind of office or something. And the other one is a closed door that's just a nondescript looks like the other doors. Okay, is that one locked? You go up and you check the lock and you see it opens. Okay, can I glance inside? I'm more curious about the locked door.

You glance inside, you see a room that looks kind of nondescript, just like a neat bed with blue sheets. Looks like it's maybe a guest room at first, but as you look around, you see that there are a few accolades for Hank Jr. in here. But labeled, of course, Edgar Lochnamore. You see, there's like a framed diploma from like a private secondary school, and you see there's a few other things lying around here. Okay, well I'm not proudly at the accolades, but I know better than to snoop in my boys room. I'm gonna turn around and go to the Family Crest door. Great. Can I talk to Spoonie and send Spoonie through the bottom of the door and see if the spoon can pick the lock. I did give you my did give him the

Order to follow all mr. Henry's orders. Holy fuck. So mr. Henry can just hear I was thinking what can Henry possibly do to get in this door And I forgot about why you think I send a third-level tiny Servant for nothing you see the little spoon slides under the door. You hear quite a bit of noise as the spoon like you might down in there, buddy. It's the door, trying to climb up. It sounds like just silverware falling. You see some of your arms and legs.

Servants look around kind of confused. And after a few seconds, you hear a click as if somebody has unlocked the door from the other side. That is one talented spoon. I walk in and give that spoon a very tiny dab. Dabs you up. All right. You see Carlisle's office. You see Rose of bookshelves, a Mahhogany desk with a lantern next to it

Unlike the other rooms that are sort of immaculately clean. This one looks like he maybe does not let The servants into you see like papers strewn about Go ahead and give me an investigation check. I you could do it with advantage because of the spoon Because of my best friend. Okay, that's 19. Hank, you look around. The sun is starting to go down, so you're getting the sun shining through kind of cascading, like the orange light of dusk. As you go through these papers, you look through and you find information about the deeds and on like election law in outer burrow in the Empire at

large. You're kind of seeing where he got the idea where he was able to gather this stuff. You also see information on possible rivals for the chancellor's spot. You see there are newspaper clippings that people in Heronford, the capital of Outerboro, think that it should be a hex blood because they've led the people of Outerboro before. You've heard this term, hex blood before. This legendary warriors from Outerboro. It sounds awesome.

It's not a bad idea. Some other names listed various articles on them and things like that. It seems like he's been collecting information on political rivals. Other names that have been floated out are Serenard Wendell, who's another famous night from Outerboro. You see that a family of merchants called the Bonunk Guinness. Oh right. Have some people that could potentially be in the room.

And Dad, that was about me for a second. And Hank, you don't see anything here in this office about the Reaper, anything about Maksora. You find stuff about Stella, but the stuff about Stella is all sort of to serve his political needs. In fact, UC plans for expanding the railroad program. You remember when you were in Outerboro

that Fia was in like a broken down train car, there was this like abandoned project to like connect the whole empire. And it seems just looking at all this stuff to you. Carlyle is a trust fund kid who's trying to be like a Titan of industry. He's trying to Rockefeller himself. He's trying, yeah, exactly.

Looking at all of this stuff, you're still pretty confused as to what his reasoning would be for working with Moxora. But then you see all of these newspaper articles on horror attacks in Outerboro, in Innerboro, particularly a lot about the horror attacks in Heronford when Jackalope Keep was blown up by the Cinder Sworn. And there's not only articles about the horror attacks there, but there's also articles about the capital dedicating more money to like the defense budget of Outerboro, like the Cinder Sworn who were the mages who burnt down Jackalope Keep to contain the spread of the horrors. Got this like big boost in their budget after this has been.

He's a student of political theater. All right, then I guess the last thing I want to do, because I'm sure that my time's running out. I want to write down on a piece of paper. I'm sure that my time's running out. I want to write down on a piece of paper. Hey buddy, if you really want to learn how to hunt horrors meet me at Stella Vervein's lab tonight and put that on Henry's underneath Henry Jr's pillow. Right on.

All right, cool. I take five more shrimp on my way out and I go outside the courtyard to wait for my friends. After all this investigating, you have to do like a dead sprint to get outside. friends. Fiya who has been trying to make sure she is always

within the proper feet from both of her magical effects, it has to run as well to keep up. Yeah, Fiya just dead sprints. Hey, Fiya, we were having a conversation. What happened? She just dead sprints. Hey, Fia, we were having a conversation. What happened? She just does that sometimes. Fia rushes off, Zirk. What would you like to do?

Well, Zirk is busy making little moustaches and putting them on sticks so that people can hold them in their faces as he takes pictures of them with his fake camera. Great. Believe the lie. And while he's doing that, he turns to Stella and says, well, this is really fun

and all, but eventually they're going to catch on that this is not a real camera. Should we head back to the lab, I would love to know a little more about those horrors that you're working on. Yeah, no, we should probably do that. Yeah, why don't we get out of here? All right, you see, she addresses the crowd. All right, everybody. Of course, takes a while for this to get the fell up. So it's going to take, should be contact you all in two to three weeks. It'll be in the mail. It'll be the mail. And if it gets lost in the mail, that's on the mail man, right?

Always blame the mail man. What am I saying, Jesus? That. I hate government-provided services. The rich people really absolutely understand this. You see Stella, waves to them. Grabbs user, and you guys all leave. I'll say Stella waits at the front for her carriage to be pulled around,

but the rest of you convene just outside of the gate to get a moment alone and Hank reappears. All right, well, the first thing I do is hold out Spoonie and say I love this guy. Please I Don't know what it's gonna take but you know even when he's the animated I'll keep him around Your welcome, sir looks at Hank shadow. Oh Yeah, that's the other thing I'm gonna summon Shank real fast and give him those five shrimp. I took He's earned it Henry as you are back in West precinct, for a long time, you had seen your shadow as this old man, like this scary future version of yourself, but he's been shank recently because you've been half distracted, half, you know, making friends, feeling better about

yourself. You see as Shank comes into view. He is once again the old man Shrimp Shrimp Henry we need to break the curse. I put I unsummon him start shaking you Unsummon him he disappears. That was weird. Okay, yeah Claps are swimming it it was a bit. Very fun.

Okay, guys, listen, I went through this slimy fox office. Fia, you are right. I think they're manufacturing fear. I tell everybody about the articles that I saw and how he's been researching rivals and studying horror attacks and what it's led to. Does it seem like he's the one that's providing the horrors in some way though? Or is he just kind of profiting off of their sudden increase? It seemed like it's too happy of a coincidence for...

That's what I'm thinking. Why they are studying it to get rid of it? Why would they do that when it's so politically convenient for them? They are studying it so they can spread it. Yeah, I don't know how it's connected, but it's connected. So they're kind of like size and then looks at them. I think my mom's probably involved in this, isn't she? What do you think, spoon?

Spoon just jiggles in your pocket. I thought so. He is kind of jealous that she gave spoon away. I stuck spoon deeper into my pocket, feeling he has steady gaze. You see book far perks up on your shoulder. Fian goes, what does it matter, Missy? He's just a stupid little spoon. What can he even do?

Okay, now I try to hold him out of my pocket. Give me the spoon. Hey, it's fine. Give me the spoon. Give me the spoon. It's fine. Best spoon, best actually book funter. Don't fight the spoon. It has better stats than you.

What? The impossible. That's impossible. This is so petty. Zerke is like envisioning a spoon suit of armor for Sprite-A-Lay's head now. You do see after a few minutes that Zirk your mom pulls up in the horseless carriage in this spider-like carriage that like spikes into the

ground and moves along. You see she movers here. Yeah the window comes down and she goes, hey we hang it out what are you guys doing? What you up to Zirkie? You guys huffing it back there. You need a ride? Um, well, it's up to y'all. I know you might want to make contact with Batilda, but if it's okay with both of you and Spoonie, um, I might head back to the lab. I want to do a little more research with my mom on this horror cure. Uh, I think that it could pertain partially or fully to the- the alkyr elixir I'm trying to make. We've also figured out that there's certain sound waves that can almost make like a spell that kind of trigger it, that can bring a horror that's dead suddenly to life. That seems bad. Oh yeah, no, it's awful. But if we find out kind of how they're made, maybe we can figure out how to kind of deconstruct it.

You have to like sit down. There's several pages of this thing. You go through it. You don't get any insight into kind of how to recreate it or how to reverse it.

But you look at it and it seems less like it's a specific frequency that is causing the horrors to rise. And it seems more like a design that allows the verbal components of a spell to be delivered through a single like chime. It's an animate dead bell. Correct. So it's essentially an animate dead bell. So it would only affect like kind of the general area. Like it's no kind of bigger than what you would be able to reach with your voice. But it does speak to the potential to be able to do like a wider reaching thing.

To essentially like have a wider range of being able to do like a wider reaching thing, to essentially like have a wider range of being able to cast a spell. I'm wondering if we could create some sort of phonogram that we could inscribe some sort of counter spell on that would maybe be used to detract from the power of this spell. It seems like if you're able to like, inscribe a spell into a bell, then using a vocal spell that you've recorded via some sort of cylinder that you play

might be a way to do it, but I don't know. Yes, Zerke, I think you're on the right track there. The problem is that it seems to be locked onto one specific spell. We've run some experiments, we figured out how to make it louder and have kind of a wider range, we figured out how to make it quieter, to make it have kind of a shorter range, but we haven't figured out how to change the nature of the spell.

That's why I was putting the bell back in the demystifier. I'm trying to go over the data and see if there's anything I missed. Right, something you missed in the mist, I understand. I wonder if the bell is the problem, if it's the instrument itself. Maybe we need to broaden our horizons on that front. You see she nods and she goes, oh, we've already recreated it.

stopping it just short of hitting your son. As he falls back on two hands, prone, and the thing dies and plops on top of them. And you see he looks up and he goes, oh, thanks. Nice shot, kid. But next time, go for the head. I'll take off my bandana. Henry, you see Hank Jr. looks up.

Eyes wide with wonder. It's kind of dark in the town square, but the light of the fire lights your face. You see the recognition in his eyes. You see there's a split second of like relief or happiness. And then he quickly narrows his eyes. You see he grabs his canteen and just chucks it at your head and he goes Aim for the head, huh? I do not duck It crashes

Okay, you see she sort of takes a deep breath, like pushes Henry out of the way, out of the way of the press and goes up to them, it goes like, you should have seen Edgar Locke Namor. There work two of these giant boars that ran in about to tear up some town's folk over there. Just pulled them out, boom, boom, dead shot it. Two of them, right between the eyes.

And she starts like wrapping the people up with a story. You see all these like water mages appear. They're basically like an arcane fire department. They start putting out the office here. And as the scene is being like cleaned up, you see the fire is put out and everything. Does it look like Mr. Henry is looking for like a friend, or does it look like he wants to be alone?

Uh, Fia, give me an insight check, and then we'll ask Hank how he feels. 12. Um, I'll say this is a powerful enough moment that a 12 would be easy enough. How is Hank feeling in this moment, Jake? Henry could use a pat on the back and a quiet nod. That feels like exactly what Henry could use. Okay, I go to Mr. Henry and I give him a little pat

on the back, a few, a little supportive on the bag. The whole office has a view of this like big metal box in the middle, this like strange office, has a little door in the front, has two guards. You guys see from Liam's work area, you have to kind of hank, you have to kind of like duck down behind the desk, as you see Stella

rounds the corner, has a quick word with the two guards, you see they move aside, she uses a little key card. You see the door slides open to this secret office in the middle. From the round the corner, you see she is joined by her sun-zirk. The two of them go into the office and the door closes behind them. And that's where we'll end our session. Oh my god, the discord being sewn. Oh, good lord. What have you done to me? Miscommunications.
