Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, listeners of the Off Menu podcast. It is Ed Gamble here from the Off Menu podcast. I have a very exciting announcement. I have written my first ever book. I am absolutely over the moon to announce this. I'm very, very proud of it. Of course, what else could I write a book about? But food. My book is all about food. My life in food. How greedy I am. What a greedy little boy I was. What a greedy adult I am. I think it's very funny. I'm very proud of it. The book is called Glutton, the multi-course life of a very greedy boy. And it's coming out this October, but it is available to pre-order now, wherever you pre-order books from. And if you like my signature, I've done some signed copies,
Starting point is 00:00:43 which are exclusively available from Waterstones. But go and pre-order your copy of Glutton, the multi-course life of a very greedy boy, now. Please? Hello. If you're listening to this on the Off Menu feed, you're probably thinking, who do they have on this week? Well, this is not a proper episode, James. What? No, we're just drawing people's attention to a very important thing that's happening on the 20th of September. Oh, okay. I'll just cancel the... I did get a guest. I'm going to cancel it right now. What guest did you get? I feel like Tarantino. Oh, you got Quentin Tarantino for today? Yeah, he's gone now.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Well, good. He can't come in because we've got more important things to talk about, more pressing things, like the future of our planet, James. Yes, that's much more important than Tarantino. Now, as you all know, there's a lot of great things going on at the moment in terms of environmental issues and drawing attention to them. And we want to be part of that, James. Yes. On the 20th of September, which is tomorrow, there is a climate strike happening. Young people are striking all over the world to draw attention to the fact we need to do something about climate change. It shouldn't just be young people. It's the olds who have messed
Starting point is 00:01:49 it up. Exactly. So, us-olds, I think we're part of the... Oh, absolutely. We've got to help. We've got to join in. Now, you can learn more about... You can find the Facebook event for the climate strike. You can go on to campaigncc.org to find out more about it. And you can find your nearest strike event. Yes, very important. Greta Thunberg, baby. Greta Thunberg. Are you just going to keep saying Greta Thunberg over and over again? She's an inspiration. I love her. She is awesome. She's so cool. She's organized all this because all the olds didn't do it. She's making it look
Starting point is 00:02:21 so easy. That's how embarrassing the whole thing is, guys. And a lot of people out there, a lot of olds are very embarrassed by the fact that someone else is having to do it for them. And it's really got up their noses, hasn't it? Oh, it's really got up their noses, which makes a change from all the fumes and pollution getting up their noses. Am I right? That they've been fighting out their entire lives. So. And clue myself. On the 20th of September, let's get up the old noses even more. Friday, 20th of September, there is a global climate strike organized by Greta Thunberg and the UK Student Climate Network.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Hit the website, campaigncc.org, find out where your nearest strike event is, get along, or just promote it. If you can't get along, just promote it online, get the word out there, and let's make something happen. Climate change is real. Hello, it's me, Amy Gledhill. You might remember me from the best ever episode of Off Menu, where Spooked and My Mum and Astro About Seaweed on mashed potato, and our relationship's never been the same since. And I am joined by me, Ian Smith. I would probably go bread. I'm not gonna spoil in case. Get him on, James and Ed. But we're here, sneaking in to your
Starting point is 00:03:34 podcast experience, to tell you about a new podcast that we're doing. It's called Northern News. It's about all the news stories that we've missed out from the north, because look, we're two Northerners, sure. But we've been living in London for a long time. The news stories are funny. Quite a lot of them crimes. It's all kicking off, and that's a new podcast called Northern News we'd love you to listen to. Maybe we'll get my mum on. Get Gledhill's mum on every episode. That's Northern News. When's it out, Ian? It's already out now, Amy! Is it? Yeah, get listening. There's probably a backlog. You've left it so late.
