Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Melissa Gorga on display with me, Melissa Gorga on podcast one. And the police and I was like, lady, make a decision and Ben is yelling at me and we just started dating and I wanted to like me and not come crazy. And I'm like, I don't know what you do. And I like, do I go on a rapid chase and lose my life?
Starting point is 00:00:18 And I didn't get in the car and that is my biggest regret. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's a New York Times bestselling author. She's a podcast host and a comedian. Ladies and gentlemen, Claudia Asheri. I am so excited to be here. First of all, welcome to the podcasting world.
Starting point is 00:00:53 You're a natural. We're so excited to have you. And I'm so excited to be here. Thank you. Thank you. Have you been listening a little bit? Of course. And you've been making news with a lot of your guests
Starting point is 00:01:01 like you're killing it. I know. Thank you. I feel like I'm picking them very specifically. I'm watching what's going on and then trying to like, go from there and like, you know, I want that matter. Yeah, and you're doing like different guests, not just like how so I have stuff.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Like you're really pretty broad. Good, thank you. Well, that's from, you know, the Queen of Podcast. Don't forget when they asked me once, what my favorite podcast was in the okay mag. It was, you know, the morning toast. Yes, I love that Do you know I still call you girl with no job for anyone out there who doesn't you know no Claudia I mean she is girl with no job on Instagram. Okay, which in itself just got so many followers just for the name
Starting point is 00:01:40 It's so clever She is very opinionated. She's big on pop culture. She, you're super funny. You're a comedian, you're super talkative. You're just a lot of things. You're like a girl's girl and you're just fun too. And you have a energy. Also like a bravo superfan. And so I'm personally really excited to get into the housewives portion of this podcast because this season of Jersey is the thing with Jersey. It's like it's never what you think it's going to be, you know, really? So did you have you started watching a little bit? Tell me real quick. Let's just get into it. Go ahead. I saw the first episode and then I was able to get a
Starting point is 00:02:14 screener for the second episode and I'm about 10, 15 minutes in. You, Gea, Teresa and your husband are all fighting outside Teresa's house. And I feel really strongly about it because while I do, I try and see all sides of every argument. I try and be a reasonable person. I do just sympathize most with your husband because while of course, her dad is her dad, we need to just be realistic and acknowledge
Starting point is 00:02:38 like what he put the family through and how your husband really stepped in. And while it may be hurtful to hear some of the things being said about Joe Judice. It's reality. It is. And to be honest, Joe does get put in a really tough. Terrible. It's such a hard spot because there's nothing but love for Gia. Like strong love, strong, strong love to where he feels like it's almost like his daughter. You know, it's a daughter. But he feels very close to her. Like he can's almost like his daughter. You know, it's a very close to her, but he feels very close to her, like he can treat her like a daughter.
Starting point is 00:03:07 And I think Gia really took him by surprise in her tone. And see, I grew up in a Jewish family, which I feel is very similar to Italian. And there's, you know, a pecking order and you just don't talk to adults like that. So I understand like how in the instant, he just flipped because I wasn't, I was raised the same exact way, like, even if if you have a problem you have to communicate it in a respectful
Starting point is 00:03:29 way and I felt like she just came out really strong which took him it really like took him back he had to step away. He was in shock I think I could tell but I know him and I can tell by looking at his face watching it back because I wasn't standing there for that. I had to actually see that happen on TV to see how it went down because I question him. Trust me a thousand times when we got home. I'm like, what did you do? Like how did you approach her? And I he's like, wait till you, you know, you watch and you tell me what you think, you know, and you're really cynical thing. It's like a, it's like a, the pecking order. It really is. And you're really sensitive to any sort of like gorgah QDHA drama. I know why? What is wrong with me? No,
Starting point is 00:04:09 because you're right. Like it brings you back to those awful times where like your family was torn apart. And any one argument, like you guys are just so close that you don't want to get back there. So I feel like you swallow a lot of stuff because it's not worth getting into it because you'll end up back where you were years ago and I know you don't want to be there. So I think you definitely you put up with a lot of shit, especially from Teresa, for the sake of your family, keeping your family together, which is such an honorable thing to do. And it must take like so much patience. Yeah, patience is, you know
Starting point is 00:04:42 what, it also took practice. I'm not gonna lie, because in the beginning, I was sensitive Sally. I really was. I was emotional. I put emotion into it all. I would break down. I'd be like, stop hurting us. Like now, yeah, for real, for real.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Now, I'm just like, you know what? You don't like it? Take a fucking walk. Like, I'm so different now. It's amazing what 10 years does. I mean, I started the show at 30, 31. And, you know, now I'm so different now. It's amazing what 10 years does. I mean, I started the show at 30, 31 and you know, now 40. So it's like I thought you looked, snatched to the gods or outfits where I'm point your glam was on point. And I thought you did a really good job of like making real friendships with girls who you weren't like. I know you know Kyle already going and I know you know Ramona, but I think you really did a good
Starting point is 00:05:39 job. It must be really difficult to walk into a house with like such big personalities. Big personalities. Everything on one of them. You're on a show. So you want to take up space. You want to be prevalent, but you don't want to be annoying. And you don't want to rub anyone the wrong way. And I thought you did a great job. Thank you. Yeah. That was that was super, super, super fun. That was like crazy.
Starting point is 00:06:01 And everyone wanted to get in there because we knew they were bringing in like their, their top dogs. So to speak and they were like bringing us in to like, you know, make a show but also have a good time and it was hard to find like drama because we had fun. It was like we had so much fun but of course, you know, Ramona is always good for that. So how did you feel when you were cast? Because obviously there's a lot of, you know, talk. They weren't calling it real housewives all stars but I's a lot of, you know, talk. They weren't calling it Real Housewives All Stars, but I think a lot of us were. And it felt like they really chose the cream of the crop from each franchise. And I know curious, I know this is your podcast,
Starting point is 00:06:34 you're supposed to ask me questions, but I'm curious how that felt. I like it. I felt I was, I was happy when they caught me. I really was, especially when I saw they were taking two from each franchise. I mean, come on, I think that I've graduated in the been there a long time category. So I mean, coming in at season three, I've been there forever at this point, you know, and Joe, they could Joe all the time as a damn bonus. He's like the seventh housewife because he's the brother and the husband at the same time, you know. Well, Jersey is so unique. And me and Jackie talk about this on our podcast all the time. You guys are so unique in the sense that like I could easily watch 60 minutes of your husbands.
Starting point is 00:07:12 And I'd be just as happy as watching 60 minutes of you guys. And I see it in other franchises, they try to replicate that. Like, you know, in OC right now, there's a lot of like boyfriend fiance hanging out. And I just, I can't fast forward it fast enough, you know. Yeah, we only want to love the Jersey men. We don't really want to see everybody else's husband. I agree with you. And I'm being biased, but I'm not. I really don't want to watch any other franchises, husbands, except for ours. I agree.
Starting point is 00:07:35 It's some reason they're just more interesting than the rest. And speaking of husbands, like I can't really put into words how betrayed I feel that Frank Katania has a girlfriend. Can you tell me about her? Really? Are you obsessed or you in love? We are not talking about the little one or the big one. The big one. The big one. The big one. You want the big one. I'm not talking about my love to include you in as well though. I'm talking about Dolores. You're so married. I know. I forgot. I love your, I love your hobby as well.
Starting point is 00:08:07 I always held out hope. And even though they were never going to get together, I still believe that the fact that he was just always there for her was so fabulous. And now he's got another woman in his life. He does, but she always has another man as well. So what's fair is fair. I mean, he's never around.
Starting point is 00:08:23 He's not. I think, well, I think she, she's, she's, she's got a new one. She's got a new one. She's got a new sizzling one, which I have not met yet. I've had a little DM situation, a little bit here and there on Instagram, but no, haven't formally met him. So I will form my opinion on him when I meet him. But yeah, Frank Attainee is just like a teddy bear that everybody just loves. And I always want to see him him take care of the lures. And you just wanna see him succeed.
Starting point is 00:08:47 You do, you do, and he will. He's awesome. We've known him forever. But anyway, speaking of, I wanna talk to you a little bit about girl with no job because I wanna know, and I think, you know, some of my fans wanna know too. Like, how does one just decide?
Starting point is 00:09:04 Like, I have no job. Like, where does one just decide? Like, I have no job. I like, where does that come from? Where did it just talk to me about it for a minute? Yes, I'm so glad you asked. You could also read about it in my book, Girl with No Job, The Crazy Beautiful Life of an Instagram Thirst Monster. But I'll give you the question. I feel like you started this.
Starting point is 00:09:17 I'm not, I'm gonna give you a lot of credit. I feel like you did start the Instagram, like phenomenon of like people following and getting info from like blogger type people. Well, so I always say I think a lot of the success that I've had can be credited to the fact that I was just so early on Instagram. And I was early not like posing pictures of me and my dog and my friends, but posting content like trying to create a brand. So I started when I was in college in 20 like 13 and Instagram was so new and the only people using it were like trying to edit their photos. It wasn't like, it was almost a photo editing app, it wasn't a social media app, it certainly wasn't a place for brands to come. And so I think so much
Starting point is 00:09:57 of my success, success can be attributed to that. And I really didn't start this whole thing looking And I really didn't start this whole thing looking for, you know, like a career out of it or money. I was just like having fun dicking around. I was in college. I started a blog. It was on Tumblr. And then I made an Instagram account because I wanted like people to know about my Tumblr account. So I was like trying to promote my Tumblr on Instagram. And eventually Instagram just was moving so fast and I was having so much success that I ended up like dropping my Tumblr and Instagram became the main focus. And over the years, I've kind of had many iterations of my brand like I do podcasts now and I do stand up.
Starting point is 00:10:34 But Instagram has always been like the core, like the center, the home base of everything. And that's how I launched my podcast and we got an audience, people like, oh, I like this girl on Instagram, let me follow her podcast. And then oh, I like her podcast, let me go see her on tour. Oh, I like her tour. Let me read her book. So it all starts with Instagram. And Instagram will always be like my number one focus because it feeds all these other different parts of my brand. So I think they like for you
Starting point is 00:10:57 for the show, like the show feeds. The show feeds everything else, which the show fed my Instagram, which fed the brands, which fed the podcast, which fed the book, which fed envy. Knowledge is power. And when you know more, you can make better decisions for your body, your health, and your future. There aren't many decisions bigger than having a kid. I also did not have an Instagram. I started it when I got the show and I'll never forget Jonathan Chebin was the one who was like, you need to get an Instagram now and I'll never forget the way he explained it to me because I was like on Twitter, everybody was on Twitter at the time. And Twitter was like a hard place, man. It was, oh, Twitter is like was nasty, especially for housewives at the time. I first joined in those first couple of seasons when it was like Melissa against Teresa. Yeah. Holy cow.
Starting point is 00:13:50 If you could read some of these tweets, you'd feel bad. You'd feel like, wow, it would feel about horrific. And I remember Jonathan Chappin saying to me, he was like, Melissa, you just get these little likes and they just come so fast and you get all these likes. Like, you got to, you got to get on this thing. It's better than Twitter. It's better than Twitter. It's better than Twitter. And I remember like, what?
Starting point is 00:14:07 What? All right, let me try. So I feel like I kind of got into the game too on it, like pretty early on when none of the other house so I was even into it that much. And I give that to Johnathan because he made me do that. First of all, I love Jonathan. I think he's such a nice guy.
Starting point is 00:14:21 And like it has been such a good friend to me over the years. And I think he gets like a lot of shit online. But if you people who know him personally have really good to say about him, he's a lovely kind person and he's been a good friend. And so I love that story. And you actually have a lot of followers on Instagram compared to other housewives.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And I'm sure that's the reason. Yeah, I think I just, I keep it clean too. Do you know what I mean? I don't over post. I don't do every brand that asked me. I don't do all of that because I'm very smart about what I do. I really only keep it to the products that I love. I'm smart about what I'm posting.
Starting point is 00:14:54 I'm not showing you my food every second. I'm opening up with the egg next to it every once in a while. I think about things before I post them. Yeah, but it's tempting to share everything, to take every brand deal. And I think in the, it's like, it feels good in the short, but in the long run,
Starting point is 00:15:12 you're setting yourself up for failure. Yeah, I mean, it's true. I mean, listen, you have over three million followers on Instagram. I mean, that's huge. I mean, like this success and fame, it can't come without some controversy, which I know that you sound like things like that. Is it like, is that part hard?
Starting point is 00:15:31 Yes, because I think some people are really built for this lifestyle. Like some people, and I pretend like I'm this girl who like doesn't give a shit what anyone says, but like I'm deeply insecure and I am such a people pleaser and all I want is to be liked by everyone. And that's why I got into this line of work. Like I just want to be beloved. And for so long, I was. And then, you know, the more successful you get, you just open yourself up to controversy scandal. And when it happened to me, it was like an earth shattering moment. happened to me, it was like an earth shattering moment. I was also pretty young when it happened. I think I was like 23. So just how old are you right now 27. Okay. So and I attribute a lot of the growth that I've had in the last few years to those scandals, controversies because I really had to toughen up. It's just not normal. I remember I watched the social dilemma on Netflix, which is a really good documentary. And they said it's like, it's just not normal for human beings.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Human beings are not meant to receive daily so many opinions from other people about themselves. It's not the way we were meant to socialize. So it does like it eats away at you. I'm sure you can relate like, I feel like I've gotten better, but I've also gotten worse like I can't explain it other in other words than just it can really chip away at and I used to like I used to be that girl. Yes, it does. I know I used to be that girl who was like, I don't care, but I fucking care now like a lot. Well, these days are strange to say the least. I mean like with with everything that just goes, I mean't care. But I fucking care now. Like a lot of these days are strange to say the least.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I mean, like with with everything that just goes, I mean, how do you navigate everything and still stay, you know, true to yourself and to your fan base? You know what I mean? How do you do that and navigate through all this? Because you're very opinionated. You want to say what you say? And it's like, how do you do that while still staying staying true to yourself? I mean, that's, that's the challenge. So to be honest, there's two things I want to yourself? I mean, that's the challenge. So to be honest, there's two things I want to say. The first is that I remember like a while ago, Chrissy Teigen posted a tweet that resonated with me so much
Starting point is 00:17:33 because she used to get like, just shit all the time for a random kid. Oh, I know. And I love Chrissy, by the way, I've been to our home. I know she gets a lot of slack. And she was just like, you know, it occurred to me a few years ago. I don't have to post every thought that I have.
Starting point is 00:17:48 And I was like, oh my God, yes, like, I don't need to post every single thing that comes into my mind. So now my thinking is like, if I want to take a strong opinion, I talk a lot on my podcast about pop culture, there's a lot of things going on. If I want to take a hard stance,
Starting point is 00:18:03 which I normally don't, because I'm actually a very like mid, I'm a normally don't, because I'm actually very like mid, I'm a people pleaser, like I'm always in the middle. I see both sides of everything. I see that. But if I do, I'm like, is this a hill I'm willing to die on? Is this something I want to go down for? And most of the time, if I feel really strongly,
Starting point is 00:18:17 I'll go ahead with it. But then sometimes I'm like, you know, not worth it. Not worth it. It's a hot take that the world needs to hear. No, no, it's not. So you've learned that. You've learned that. And that comes with age, I think too. Yes. Speaking of culture, what are your thoughts on this canceled culture?
Starting point is 00:18:31 I mean, cancel culture is like a thing right now. It's a thing. I think it's losing its power. So when the first time I got canceled was in 2018, and it was like this new thing. And they always say like the first through the wall is the bloodiest. And I wasn't the first by any means but it happened to me really early in this cancel culture era and it was so bad. But now it's happening. It's scary. It's scary. It's scary. Especially especially, I mean listen, we all make mistakes. Everyone should have a pass. Of course. In a while to to make a mistake. But when you're in the public eye, it's it's it can be very scary to be in the public eye these days because you you can get cancel tomorrow and your whole career and every dollar that you make is literally wiped out the door because of something stupid or you wouldn't think before you spoke or or or something like that.
Starting point is 00:19:22 And that is very, very scary. Exactly. When it's your career. Yeah, of course. And especially in social media, like the age of kids getting famous on social media is getting younger and younger and younger. And who's dumb or and makes more mistakes than young kids? That's what you're supposed to do in your youth. And so normal kids make mistakes. They grow up. They learn from them.
Starting point is 00:19:41 And then they're really, they don't have to feel the consequences of their mistakes 10 years later. But when you exist to grow up online, those mistakes follow you. And so while it's an enormous privilege to have a platform and all the opportunities, the money, everything that comes with it, there's also quite a few disadvantages
Starting point is 00:19:57 of growing up on the internet because the internet never forgets anything. No, they never forget. I mean, I feel like when I first got on the show, they were googling my father passed away when I was 16. They were finding like, there was no internet when he was like around really. They really wasn't. They were trying to find anything they could on my father. I was like, this is crazy. It's kind of scary being the public guy. Did they ever find your long lost sister? No, no, do you know how that went down though?
Starting point is 00:20:27 I was in Walmart. I was at a Walmart, okay? Because there was a Walmart around the block for my house and I love Walmart. So I would I love it. I love it to buy tampons and cups and plates and pajamas, cookies and tank tops for $299. I love Walmart. So I see a medium there who we actually filmed with on the show.
Starting point is 00:20:48 And she's like, we filmed with her, you know, a year or two prior to the show. Yes, with the blonde hair about Teresa's mom with Teresa and Joe. She just randomly is like, Melissa, I've been looking for you. I really want to talk to you. You need to come to my office. You know, I want to talk to you about your dad. And I was like, I mean, that was very tempting. First of all, this woman has a weight of like three years just to get in with her. She is known to be like amazing around here. So I go like that week. I go to see her. And she says to me, listen, she talks to me about my dad the whole time. And she says, listen, you have, you know, your dad has a, a love child out there. You have another sister. She's out there. So of course, I go and I do the 23 and me,
Starting point is 00:21:26 and I try to find her. I didn't find her. But then the whole internet says, like fake storyline, you did that to be fake. No, this really, I went to the damn Walmart. She told me this, one day if this woman pops up, make my sister, I'm gonna laugh, because on like 23 and me,
Starting point is 00:21:42 she might not have done it yet. Right, but if she does do it, you could wake up one day, get an email and she's there. Exactly, that's what I'm like 23 and me, she might not have done it yet. Right. But if she does do it, you'll get you could wake up one day and get an email and she's there. Exactly. That's what I'm saying. I can get you know, and she could be there. They say you up because it looked like it literally came out of nowhere. See? Is that how it came off to you too? We were like, what the fuck is Melissa talking about? Oh my God. You see how that goes? Yeah. This is why. So, So sometimes I want to get on the fans when that happens. And I want to be like, where do you guys, why would, but see, I feel like you're honest and true.
Starting point is 00:22:10 And you're, you're saying it like it is, right? Yeah, it was, it felt very weird. It did. Okay, so it felt very made up. Well, thank you for saying, you don't know one has ever said that to me yet. No one. I feel like I've had this discussion a million times and not one person has been honest and said, Melissa, no, it did seem like it came out of left field.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Yeah, no girl, I'm always on your side and I'm going to tell you the truth. And it just felt like what is this girl talking about? Oh my god, wait, so when I just explained it to you just now, do you got it? Yes, obviously, nobody wakes up one day and it's like, I feel like I have a sister. But there's a backstory. You saw a medium, a well-respected medium. And okay, that just makes sense. Like, yeah, and this and producers, like right before you start filming, they sit down with you. What's going on in your life? What's happening? Tell us what's happening this year? What are we going to see? And what's happening? And I'm like, oh my god, guess what? I just went to Walmart
Starting point is 00:23:00 and guess what this lady said. They're like, what would filming that? Of course, you know what I mean? So, but thank you for finally being honest. I feel like I needed someone to be honest with me. That's what I do. Physical health is important, but mental health should be just as important to you and to your loved ones. I feel like they like post you, they know you, like what's your deal with them? Have you met them? I've met a bunch of them.
Starting point is 00:24:30 I don't believe that they know me. I know, I feel like they do. So, you know, what could be? Because you know Simon, so they know. Yes. So over the years, you know, they've come and go and like my pictures, like a couple of DMs, not like nothing to write home about.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Nothing personal. Nothing personal. Okay. Nothing personal. I did, you want to hear the craziest story? I don't think I've been messing with this on my podcast. I went to Simon's wedding and I was on my way home and I have two Instagram accounts. Girl with no job is like, you know, where I post all my crazy, where I look ugly, like girl with no job that has three million followers.
Starting point is 00:25:02 And then I have a personal account where I just like to post pictures of like my family, my dogs, like real life. That's real life. That's like 250,000. And I posted like, you know, a bunch of like thirst traps from Simon's wedding. I was like looking so cute. And I was on the plane home.
Starting point is 00:25:16 And my sister texted me and she's like, Claudia, Chloe Kardashian liked two of your photos from your LA weekend on your personal account. And I was like, excuse me, ma'am, what? So I went and she did. And I was like, what the fuck? And I sent her a message. Oh my god, like my life was made.
Starting point is 00:25:34 I sent her a message. I was like, oh, so good meeting. I did meet her at the wedding. So I was like, maybe she let's go. She's a doll. She really is a sweetest, nicest. I thought maybe she was taken by my presence. And she then stalked me.
Starting point is 00:25:46 And I sent her messages like so good to me. A lot of that and she never answered. And she never answered, right. But all right, she liked the pictures though. That was good. I remember the first time she liked a couple of my pictures I was like, oh Chloe, stop it. Wait, the other day, Jalo, I did a promo for Bravo
Starting point is 00:26:01 and Jalo posted it. Jalo posted it and I was like, oh, yes, my spirit sister posts me. I love you so much. If you can be best friends with like any celebrity, would you choose JLo? I mean, I don't know about best friend. I feel like she is my like she's got that like New York vibe. Like I feel like I can like I just I feel her energy.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Yeah. You gum the way she choose gum. Um, I noticed that like when she speaks, I'm like, I do the same. I feel her energy. Yeah. She'll gum the way she choose gum. I noticed that like when she speaks, I'm like, I do the same. I feel like our mannerisms have a lot. Yes, like I could just feel her like the way she moves. Do you know what I'm saying? Does that make sense?
Starting point is 00:26:35 Do you have a sled that you feel like you can like resonate with a little bit? The thing is like when your whole life is like consumed by pop culture, like you really can't boil it down to just one. And I go through phases, like I would say the number one person that I like, fangirls so hard for and have like my whole life is Taylor Swift. Really? Have you ever met her? No. I actually did. I did get a package from her ones. Wow. Of like merch and it was like, there was like a note
Starting point is 00:27:06 and it said from Taylor, like it was amazing. But I actually think if we were to hang out, like we are not the same person. Like I think we're actually quite different. I think if we were just two regular girls in high school, we would hate each other. Really? Yeah, I don't see her as like,
Starting point is 00:27:19 I would never in a million years thought that you would have just said Taylor Swift. Like never, I don't know why that was not. I thought you were gonna say like Nicki Minaj. No, since I was in like the eighth grade, my roots with Taylor Swift run so deep and I've only grown more in love with her with age. Cause she's 31 or 32, I'm 27.
Starting point is 00:27:36 So we go through like similar life cycles and I just, I love her. Okay, I think everyone loves Taylor Swift. I mean, she's just a lover. I mean, so what do you think about Kylie? Kylie and this little baby that she subsequently had? Wait, is the baby's name angel? Are you going to bet on angel? Because I'm okay. So my, so I'm actually not, I'm not banking on angel, but I'm banking on, and I can't take credit for this. I saw a TikTok of people just like
Starting point is 00:28:03 putting together that in the last couple months, everything they posted like from, you know, the son of grandma and like shit like that. They're using angel emojis and then all of her friends were commenting on the picture of the baby's hand was like, oh angel boy, I mean, baby. Yes, I saw all this while I don't think it's angel. I do think it is a name, you know, synonymous with angel heaven clouds, like something. My sister, Jackie, thinks it could be sunny, SUNN-Y stormy and sunny. Oh, well, there you go. I mean, I don't know, she would do that. That is so I don't know about that. I think we're all wrong.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Do you? Okay, because then there was like the 2222, which means heaven as well. It's like an angel day or something. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Okay. So that's that. I guess we'll find out what it is. And we'll see each other and decide if we were right.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Yeah. Just talk to me for a second about Kim and Pete. Like, are you still in shock? Or do you believe it now? Did you not believe it at first? Are we in shock over it? I believe it now. And I think I believed it when it first happened.
Starting point is 00:29:04 I was just like, this is so cliche. Like, is just at a control. Like how does he keep pulling? No, someone tell me has someone ever met this boy. Like is he so charming? Never met him. But what I've surmised is that he is so funny, kind, charismatic, a personality you want to be around. And he must have a huge penis. I mean, and it must do wonders, like it must be like, yes, magical, magical, magical, I mean, and then like how Kanye is coming out,
Starting point is 00:29:35 are you agreeing with this? I mean, he really, I feel like putting that on Twitter or putting that out there is just making it a bigger thing. So I, we just did a segment on this on the podcast. So if people listening and have already heard it, sorry. So Kanye is very averse to social media. Like he doesn't really post on social media. He doesn't promote his brand on social media.
Starting point is 00:29:56 And in the past, the only times when he's been really, really active on social media, I'm posting these crazy brands, are when he's dealing with his mental health. And then weeks later, he'll explain what had happened. And so these Instagram posts are reminding me of the last time he went on a crazy social media rant, which was on Twitter, said crazy things about Chris Jenner and the whole family. And then it turned out he was having, you know, trouble with his mental health.
Starting point is 00:30:20 So he was having a breakdown. So I don't like this is just reminding me of that. And I feel like, you know, all these Instagrams and gossip channels are like, Oh my God, the drama is so crazy. And it's kind of just making me sad because I think he's
Starting point is 00:30:34 in a bad place. I agree. I agree. I think he's probably spiraling right now. And it's all in front of me. When you have that many children, it's got to be hard for any man to pass over your beautiful,
Starting point is 00:30:45 successful wife to and when you're four beautiful children. So to speak to any other man because I'm sure Kim's going to have those children most of the time. Let's be real. I mean, I'm sure that's where they're going to be. And I think that when he looks back on the marriage, I mean, I don't know these people. I'm just guessing, but well, we both are. I think Kim was intending to be married forever. And he made it so hard on her. I think, you know, he moved really pretty much permanently to Wyoming to his ranch. He was never with her, never with the kids. And so I think that the fact that she actually went through with the divorce is shocking to
Starting point is 00:31:19 him. And now he's like living this life of regret. And I think that has to be contributing to his struggle with his mental health, like knowing that he could have tried harder. I agree. I agree. And that and that I mean, do you ever see them patching anything up or you think this is the end of the end? No, I think. At first, I was like, you know, what maybe? And then I thought these are going to be really too healthy co-parents. They were together spotted so many times. And I'm like, they're going to make this work the modern family.
Starting point is 00:31:49 I thought the same. Definitely. No, I know. In the beginning, I was like, no, they're going to do this. They're going to be that celebrity couple that shows it's all good. And we still have our kids. And we get ice cream on a Sunday if we're in the same town. But like, I have changed my mind on that.
Starting point is 00:32:02 I mean, I hope they turn it back around. And I will say, don't think it's her. So I. I mean, I hope they turn it back around. And I will say, I don't think it's her. So I don't think it's her either. I think she tried, you know what I mean? She tried so hard. Give me anything that's ever happened. Like any, because I know you've gone to a couple of events and things. Have you ever been, give me something with this celebrity that has shocked you or is anyone ever let you down or had like something bad? I apologize for keeping promoting my book, but every question you ask is directly answered in my book.
Starting point is 00:32:31 So I will say you must have answered with a people want to know. Yes, so I would say one of my craziest celebrity experiences and one that shocked me the most was when I got to I spent a day on like this big yacht with a bunch of people, including Leonardo DiCaprio. Oh my god. And so when you think of Leonardo DiCaprio, it's very quiet. So, okay, so you think, you think, you're like, I thought we were going to like rage our faces off, like get wasted.
Starting point is 00:33:00 And he is extremely low-key. I knew it. He's full. Quiet. He wanted to go whale-watching. And he is extremely low key. I knew it. He's full quiet. He wanted to go whale watching. Um, I was like, this is boring. You're like, wait, I want to rage with Leo right now. What is happening?
Starting point is 00:33:15 I was like, I was like, where's the wall of Wall Street when you need it? That's literally what I thought I was walking into just because you know, you have an image of someone in your head. And it was the total opposite. And that's the thing about celebrities. Like, it's so cool to be around celebrities. But like, it really very quickly gets disappointed. Yeah. Everyone in the room is like talking about the celebrity. And then if you're talking to the celebrity, they're talking about themselves. It's like, what about me? I'm interested. It is. The truth is, you're right, because I've been in plenty of rooms with plenty of them. And I think everyone gets high hopes.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Even if I just take someone with me to like watch what happens live or like whatever it may be and like, it's not as fun as everyone thinks it is because I think this celebrity has to hold their ground and their persona. And they're not as like let loose. There's a couple. There's a couple that I've met that have blown me away. Like for instance, Leah Remini. Wow. The most amazing human doubt. Like was yelling my name, I'm at a movie premiere for second acts with JLo. And she's literally just like,
Starting point is 00:34:20 Melissa Gorgon, Jogoget over. I was like, oh my god, It was like, oh, my god. Moby there. She was just like, I love her. She's my type. She's my type. I will say of all the experiences and things, I always have a great time at Watch Evans Live.
Starting point is 00:34:36 That I think, I think Watch Evans Live is the exception. It's always fun. Agreed. I agree. I agree. And everyone loves Andy. I think Watch Evans Live, even if it's like bad guests, like I think it's always like really fun for fans to go. No, it is, but I think what like because I'm trying to think of where I've
Starting point is 00:34:52 even brought like people to go. They just think they're like, we're going to hang with the celebrities all night. We're going to I'm like, guys, no, you're going to sit in the audience. You're going to have a drink. But like, it's just I feel like people aunt themselves up over like, yes, going to be to hang out with celebrities and celebrities This is a job. Starting point is 00:36:43 We're really excited for you to listen and join in for heavy to rose world on podcast fun episodes drop on Thursdays and Fridays tune in on Spotify Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. about your comedy tour that starts tomorrow, you're a comedian on top of all of this. It's called Not Like Other Girls. Because I'm not like other girls Melissa. And I think are you? Are we not? Am I not with her? That's such a compliment.
Starting point is 00:37:14 I like that. How do you do this in this day and age of cancel culture, too? They're like, is that so hard to come up with your acts? And by the way, I'm sure you've seen like Joe is doing this whole. Yes. I threaten his life. Like every. Every time he walks out the door, I'm like, okay, if you cancel us because what you say affects me. So I'm like, watch yourself because he doesn't even know he would never even mean to say something, right? But it's going to come out. Like how do you do this? How do you write a skit like this? So that's something that's always on my mind. And for the first tour that I did, which was like 2018 to
Starting point is 00:37:52 20 right to the end of the beginning of 2020, my whole philosophy was like, I can't get canceled if I'm making jokes about myself. So my whole show was like self-deprecating, which really is my brand of humor anyway. So I felt really safe. I'm like, no one's going to be mad if I'm calling myself, you know, moronic and dumb things because it's me. And that's you. Yeah, and it did work and that's really my favorite thing to talk about is myself. But then with this tour, there's just so much going on in the world and it's so hard not to poke fun at like, there's just, it just it's the world we're living in is not real. So my material this time around is definitely pushing the envelope a little bit more
Starting point is 00:38:31 but I just watch a lot of comedy and I feel empowered to do that because yes we live in this weird place where like in a minute something you say can take your whole livelihood away but comedy is like the last corner of the earth where you can safely make fun of things. Of course, there's a line. Yeah, I know there's a line and my line is pretty conservative. I know other comedians are way out there. I just think like this one corner of the universe, where we can still be funny and just make fun of things,
Starting point is 00:39:01 like should be protected and it should be preserved. I want to contribute to that. So my, myself this time is like, it's not crazy by any means, but it's more, it's more crazy than things I've done in the past. And that's only because the world we're living in right now just is begging to be made fun of. Well, I agree.
Starting point is 00:39:16 And I think when people go to a comedy show, that is the one time where you should let down, like, oh, I'm gonna judge every little word they say and take it to heart and think that, you know, they are not like in this type of person or that. It's funny. It's a joke. If you're there talking about Italians and you call us like guineas or something, we need to not take offense to that. If you say we talk with our hands, if you say that we are whatever, like we need to be like, you know what? It's what, it's funny, it's what we're known as. And you know, sometimes there's two valuable things
Starting point is 00:39:48 that I think as a society, we can take away from just comedy. The first is that sometimes it's just not that serious, you know, like it's a joke, it doesn't need to be a metaphor for what's going on the world. It's just a joke and we can move on and forget about it. And the other thing is, is that nobody is forcing you to be here, nobody's forced when you listen to my podcast.
Starting point is 00:40:05 No one is forcing you to follow me on Instagram. And if you don't like what you're hearing, we are so blessed. We live in a free country and the fuck up and go. Go. You don't need to announce your departure. Unfollow. It's not an airport. You don't need to announce your departure. Just go.
Starting point is 00:40:19 There's content out there for everyone. And if you have a fucking Louie, yeah. No, listen. That goes to anybody out there. You don't have to listen. And if you have a fucking Louie, yeah, that's all I got. I say that. That goes to anybody out there. You don't have to listen. You don't have to comment. Just take a walk. I mean, for real. Okay, well, good. Your first one is in Connecticut. Super excited. Make sure everybody goes at you are super funny, just in person to your super funny. So before I let you go, we're just going to end with a segment that I do with everyone. So rapid fire questions. Okay, it's called grilled with Gorgah.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Are you ready? Yeah. Okay. Okay. Here we go. Your first celebrity crush. Joe Jonas. Oh, okay. Favorite 80 song wasn't live.
Starting point is 00:40:59 I know. What is with you people? Okay. You're like, like karma, Camille and karma, karma, karma, karma. You know what I love? I like that song. I just don't know what song is. I can give you a 90 song. You're like like karma, Camille and karma, karma, karma, karma, karma. You know what I like that song? I just don't know what song 90 song you freaking 30 year olds, 20 year olds, you're 20 year old. Anything from the spice girls. Oh, really? Okay, I love that. Okay, biggest regret. Oh my God. Okay, one time, this is like a, it's not rapid
Starting point is 00:41:19 fire. It's like a bit of a story. Do you have a minute for me to tell you it? Yes. So when I was me and Ben were dating, we were on 72nd and 3rd Avenue having lunch, we were walking out of the story. Do you have a minute for me to tell you it? Yes. So when I was me and Ben were dating, we were on 72nd and 3rd Avenue having lunch. We were walking out of the restaurant. There's a bank on the southwest corner and we're about across the street past the bank. And this man comes lying out of the bank on foot running. He drops this thing. The whole street fills up with red smoke. All these dollar bills start flying all over the place. I pick one up and there's a big hole in the middle of it. So this guy had robbed a bank and then dropped it because they put these weird security things around it. So the money all has holes in it if somebody steals from a bank.
Starting point is 00:41:57 So I did not know this. The street is flooded with dollar bills with like big circle cutouts in the middle. And I'm like, oh my god, what are you doing? Should we call the police? And I saw everything. And then the police two seconds later, boom, show up. They're there. And I'm like, I saw, and they were like, tell us, I'm like, who's wearing a purple polo, light wash jeans, sneakers, and he ran north on third avenue. And they're like, getting the car. We're going to find him. Like, you know what he looks like? And I was like, fuck, yes. Then was like, if are you kidding me, like, are you really going to get in that car?
Starting point is 00:42:29 That's so dangerous. I'm like, what? And the police and I was like, lady, make a decision. And Ben is yelling, and we just started dating. And I wanted to like me and not come crazy. And the police man is like, get in the fucking car, bitch. And I'm like, I don't know what to do. And I like, do I go on a rapid chase and lose my life? And I didn't get in the car. And that is my biggest regret. Well, I would totally say that's a huge regret. No one, by the way, had a story like that. Definitely one of my biggest regret best stories yet. Just FY you. Upset it. Crazy. And by the way, I had no idea that they put so so even if they were to recoup the money, like you don't get the money back. It has wasn't it. Red dial over it. They make sure that if you steal from a bank, you can't use
Starting point is 00:43:09 them. Like, it's not worth it. Okay. Exactly. Best decision you ever made. Getting married. Oh, pet peeve. What's your pet peeve? Everything. But more importantly, when people are eating and they're having like salad with like dressing and they get like dressing in the corners of their mouths and they don't lick it up. I think it's disgusting. I just said mine is when you eat with your, I can't watch people eat. I don't want to see the food in your mouth.
Starting point is 00:43:33 I agree. Your worst date you have ever been on. Maybe before your husband or with. Okay, everyone's going to hate the sensor, but I've only ever been on one and it was a bend. Really, you're such a good girl. It was my first date when I was 18. Oh my one and it was a bend. Really, you're such a good girl. It was my first date when I was 18.
Starting point is 00:43:46 Oh my God, you good little girl. I love that. I know. Okay, so it was a good one. Okay, your first concert. Miley Cyrus had a Montana best of both worlds. Yes, okay. Give me something about you that was surprised us.
Starting point is 00:44:00 I know we know it all. There's gotta be something we don't know. Well, it is in my book, but when I was a child, like, I think because I'm very extroverted, I'm super outgoing. I'm not really shy. I think a lot of people would assume that's like how it was as a kid, but it was actually like a deeply troubled child had incredible anger issues. Like, I would throw these like insane fucking temper tantrums like they were talking about. Medicating me, I was really like a deeply troubled child. Really? And you just grew out of that? I just grew out of it. Well, that's a lot of hope for a lot of moms out there who are probably dealing with a
Starting point is 00:44:35 temper tantrum type child. Read the book. It's all in there. Wow. Okay, good. Well, um, you know, I'm gonna ask the girl with no job. What was your first job? It was babysitter slash Kim counselor. Okay, little camp counselor. You just sound like you were like very wholesome. What you are, I don't see you as right now, but you're so wholesome. I did grow up like in a very, you know, wholesome house. Wholesome like bubbly. Like that is. Cute. Now I'm in a bunch. Yeah. the next one. Hold some house. Hold some like bubbly. Like that is not your
Starting point is 00:45:08 now. Yeah. Okay. What's your favorite late night snack? Like when you're watching TV at night. Big lace.
Starting point is 00:45:17 Wait, what? Big lace. Oh, baked lace. Okay, baked ones now. I had regular lays. I think they're disgusting. Okay, agreed. So what are you watching right now? What's the favorite TV show to binge watch? I'm obviously watching everything on Bravo. And I just finished Ted Lasso, which I loved.
Starting point is 00:45:30 I thought it was such a good positive show, just like fun, easy, light, hilarious, highly recommend. I have not watched that yet. When I watch that, you enjoy, will love it. And you can watch with your kids too. It's like super appropriate. It's hilarious. Nice. Okay. All right. And I always end with this question. If Claudia was, it was all about you today. You woke up and it was all about you.
Starting point is 00:45:51 Like, what do you do? How do you treat yourself? I do absolutely nothing. Like I lay in bed, I watch TikTok, I eat, I order in. I never have to get out of bed. I have a heating pad, I have my dog. I don't have to walk my dog. Someone else is walking my dog.
Starting point is 00:46:03 And I'm just doing nothing. Oh my God. And that's the best day ever for you ever. Or I'm hanging out with Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian trying to make them see eye to eye. Got it. I love it. All right, Claudia. I love you. You have been wonderful to all my listeners. If you don't already follow her, you need to follow her on Instagram. You need to go watch her commentator. You need to read her book because so many of my questions were in her book.
